I've buyed this phone second - hand for about 30$, it's nothing special. It have VGA camera but when i set the picture resolution at 640x480 it takes too long to make a photo. Then it didnt have usb, and only INFRARED for connections. The design is not bad, and the memory is too small... a low caracter phone...

Victorian: I'm afraid you can't send or recieve Java apps through the infrared port to or from another phone. Though, you can do this through the Alcatel PC Suite software. You also need the Java Loader to be able to send Java apps to yoour phone, that should be the same version as the PC Suite (otherwise, you'll have to edit the windows registry). Hope to be usefull... TAKE CARE, BEHAVE BADLY AND BE HAPPY...

I bought this excellent and wonderful low price , packed with lots of features and a brilliant 65k colour phone...But the down side is that the size is only 2Mb....I love the usage of the infrared..can sent sounds...pictures,videos,contacts,diaries...but the only problem is that i cannot sent java games to my phone...Please help me....I want to sent and received java games...

It is very good, nice photos, relative low price, but I can not transfer .jpa and .mmf files from mobile to PC and vice vesra via IrDa. I downloaded PC Suite for this mobile and I have not any troubles to transfer all other formats. PLease for help and advise.

Alcatel is not my first phone, i use other brand Nxx,Sxx,Mxx before and Alcatel is worth for money with their price , feature and off couse the battery life is good compare with others,user friendly.

Hi REGGIE this phone doesn't work with a cable to your PC, works with INFRARED connection or IRDA, you can find this kind of device on laptops, palms, digital cameras and all the new geneation of electronics. If you can't find it in your town, I suggest to buy it on internet good luck!!

I am using OT 557 since 7 months. I am facing a problem now, whenever I activated infrared through PC, it can't detect itself. I had already sent to the rer under warranty but still no use. So I think the hardware in the mobile should cause problem. So anyone who faces this problem before?

I am using OT 557 since 3 months. I am facing a problem now, whenver I switch on my Mobile, ALCATEL logo appears on the screen but does not proceed beyond that. Seems that it is a software error can any one please guide

I have my OT 557 for 7 months and i am satisfied with it very much.Sounds are great pictures are great too,and you can also record your own melodies and sounds and then to use them as ringtones or as a message alerts,and you can recive and send pictures over Ir-DA.I just have one little problem so please help me how to transfer java games and aplications over Ir DA from computer,should I use alcatel Pc suite for do that or there is onother trik.Thank you for any help given.

Very nice phone, nice colours, good sound, as for me, the 2MB memory is OK, photos are good (not the quality you'd get from a digital cam obviously)... The only bad point is that some games for 160 x 128 screens don't work on this phone, but if u use it for other purpouses it's ok. What's really great is the low price. If u don't have much money and u'r looking for a good phone, buy this one.

Really a great phone at a very very reasonable phone, the images are clear, great memory, resolution, video player is excelent, the only bad thing is that it is a little bit big, but is a gerat phone, with infrared you can send and receive everything!

Works perfectely with gprs servers, and with a simple USB Irda adapter, the conection with the pc is perfect. PC suite V3 is great and it has a content manager to echange sounds, photos and video with the cel. To download java, you need a patch to the pc suite, but works really fine. The only problem is the low memory (2mb). But it's a great phone!

I took my mobilephone to an orange dealer and they made the settings for the gprs.. it's working really well, ive downloaded some crazy clips from alcatel.com... and most of all.. the pc suite works really well if u have a IRDA-USB adaptor.. and u can put miniclips of your own if you want.. i've didi that and i'm very happy about it.. i like a lot!!

This phone is poorly designed. It looks like many features packed, but all only work under special condition. Hardware is OK, the firmware is buggy, not tested by the programmers at all.
