alcatel OT-E259 - User Reviews

  • The OT-E259 was a basic and entry-level phone even for its day - I owned one until early 2009, when even by then it was somewhat of an antique. Although the clamshell design is a satisfying build and in general it's easy to use, the progress of phones in the last few years have made this now essentially worthless. No internet, camera or indeed really anything except for a phone and a couple of games makes it an unwise purchase even as a spare or for a young child/elderly pensioner. If you really need a non-smart, completely basic phone, get something like the Nokia 100 instead, available new for a tiny amount (a few pounds) with a sturdy exterior, a huge stand-by time and a better purchase all-round. This instead belongs in a museum.

  • very good phone

  • e259 is a vey beautifull cell phone but its disply strip is damage very soon

  • my mom has this phone and she bearly uses it coz of the batterly life. do not get this phone, i repeat, do not get this phone. nothing is good about it. also u can just peal the buttons off!!!!!!!!!!! u will regret buying this. im not lying. this is the w0rst phone i have seen in my hole life!!! hole life!!!

  • + Big keys on keyboard, that's all positive -Poor reception(not at all on mountain),it freeze and shut down by himself, battery life is 2 days, screen is disaster, and finaly it's firmware is slow like a turtle. So if you want to buy this phone you are totaly crazy.

  • Enough? As I said in a previous comment, it's for the low end users. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that they should automatically stop making them. Invest in a better phone if that's what you want. Honestly. Most sales are for this type!

  • What do you want for 14.99? An iPhone? That's why these phones have a small price tag. They're cheap, easy to use and great for those just wanting to make the occasional phone call and a couple o' texts. You get what you pay for. Dip a little further into your savings and invest in a phone with bells 'n' whistles if that's what you want. Read the spectifications. • my biggest problem is battery . The phone is still in good working condition. unfortunately the battery is not available in my town area. assist on how i can get it. i bought the kaphone from UK though i no longer live there. i may be forced to forget about this phone if i dont get a new battery, probably two so i can keep one for emergency.

  • it looks nice an expensive,my only problem is that its kind 0f fragile more so water sensitive

  • it is a good phone handy for children as it is cheap and easy to use. it is also good as it has all the features that someone would need to make phone calls and send texts.

  • I wanted a phone for SMS and occasional phone calls that wouldn't turn itself on as it rattled round the bottom of my handbag. It does the job, and it cost 59 euros including the initial talk time. I'm not complaining!

  • bought ot for my young son because of the compact clamshell design, large buttons and simple screen/menu options. Battery life on mine seems reasonable. No WAP therefore no new games or MP3 tones but I have downloaded new poly tones from t-mobile (T-zone tone of the week = 1 per week) only problem is that I don't know what is coming next and cannot choose before I buy - good beginner phone - what do you expect for 23 ??

  • MM, MM! DO NOT buy it! It has no bluetooth no camera no MP3 player and only 16 VERY ANNOYING ringtunes. It's not got WAP so you can't download ANYTHING! Looking for good games? Continue your search for this phone has NO good games it has got 2 (Russia,Bricks) and they're terrible! NO DOWNLOADABLE GAMES as I said! Have I convinsed you not to buy it yet? I bought it and it was the biggest mistake I ever made! I don't want you doing the same thing!

  • Summary Menu- Directory-Phone book that stores details (e.g. Phone numbers) Messages-Create,Inbox,Outbox,Archives,Predefined, Delete,Settings and SMS CB Sounds- Includes ringtones (not downloadable) and SMS alert settings (More options) It's got 2x games (Russia,Bricks) (Russia is the same as tetris!)

  • 1. The battery life is awful it lasts for only around 7 hours 2. The menu display is really poor. 3. The memory for storing text messages is just not good enough. 4. The phone is just too fragile.

  • This phone is also available in a nice shade of red :)

  • this phone is ok if your newbie but even then i try not to see this phone cuz it'spurly just rubbis h to use

  • yer tried nokia charger n wrks perfectly.i found my fone ba didnt avnt a charger.NOKIA I LUV YA hehe

  • Small phone with only the necessary functions as calling and texting. But stand up time only less than 4 days (80 hours). My phone doesn't go even half way to promised 270 hours. BTW, has anyone tried Nokia charger to this phone? Looks like it might fit but I'm afraid the phone might get broken if I try. And why Nokia charger? Because I have many Nokia chargers all around here so it would be easy to charge if it works:-)

  • Bought a couple of months ago as a 'back-up' gsm just for sending text messages, my 6th Alcatel in ten years. Use a BenQ for day-to-day calls, but the OT-E259 has got to be the worlds most friendly for sms. One major fault - compared to the earlier Alcatel 7** series, and only relevant if you're in a Francophone country: if you have language settings on EN but you are typing an sms in FR (and 75% of my sms's are in FR), you can't get the accents/characters (, , , etc.) without reconfiguring the language setting - if you try in the middle of the sms you lose all the text you've typed before. Other than that - and it's a most suprising defect from France's #1 supplier - go for it.

  • bought v recently as cheap phone 4 work needed clam phone will report in few time but ok so far

  • Has just the features I want/need. The game Tetris is also very nice and entertaining. Not too much crap (WAP, MMS..) results in less buttons, so the buttons can be big enough and the phone stays small. Very nice phone, especially for the low price. Why would phones always have to be expensive? This is a great phone.

  • Just want a simple phone ? Here's the one for you. soft touch clam design, easy to use, especially setting up when you first get it. The different coloured alert lights on the outside a great and the ease of use is top class. It has no camera, but if you want photo's, buy a camera, not a phone !! My only bug about this phone is the naff ringtones, but as I tend to use vibrate 99% of the time, that's not a great loss.

  • i baught this phone as my first and i am very disaponted

  • this is exactly what a phone must be

  • hey! I jut bought this alcatel as a second phone a few hours ago, and I am very pleased (so far!) all the accessories are compatible with my other mobile (alcatel ot 756) on the out side it looks very expensive (except whe you realise it doesn't have an external screen, it only has three warning lights) and the back cover design looks very nice and the soft touch rubber is quite nice to hold, when you open it you realise it's a very low end phone because of the low quality screen, but the design is very nice as well. for just 50 (pre paid) you on't find a better looking phone (in my opinion!) great for a second phone, or for a first time user who don't wan't to spend too much money! 7.5/10

  • Good quality cheap blower. I bought it because I tend to lose phones on drunken nights out. This is my disposable going out phone I keep my other mobile at home.

  • Well. I have just bought the phone [it wil send to me in 24 hours] on wwww.kijkshop.nl for 39,-. It's just a cheap, good flaptop! Ok, a shame it doesn't has camera and stuff but the design is cool!

  • I Just Saw This Phone In The Dealer Today And I Kinda Liked Its Design... And Now I Cant Believe My Eyes!! Does It really Have 10hrs Talk time? please if u have this phone answer me cuz i'm planing on its purchase thanks

  • bad, bad, really bad display

  • I see this phone, cheap, and nothing else. Just a phone, not a play toy! Cool

  • I bought this phone a few hours ago,I hope I won't break it like the old one lol.. I was just wondering, can I get a new ringtone or not,and how??

  • blimey no wonder argos want to get rid of them for 30 quid, no wap no memory no nothing pile of poop

  • I have this phone 5days and i charged battery 2 times!Do you have the same problems with the battery life?It is new one!

  • Great ! A phone and just a phone. What a change !

  • Why enough?! It's the only way to terminate for sure this brand :)

  • And another Low End phone of TCL/Alcatel. I think its enough with this kind of phone...
