S88 is the worst handset I ever used. It is java enabled but not a single software I installed ran perfectly, not even migg33 or operamini. It' a perfect example of slow handsets. I can't forward audio songs or watch full screen video. Even the time cannot be set in am/pm mood, it always be in 24 hour s. Finally the warenty service is too poor.

This is really bad. Mine is broken with no reason. Cant answer the phone , cant sms , cant get in to menu . 1st i think because my memory is full so i erase all my external data. Better for 3 days but the disease back again. 2nd i pick my external card , so my benq-siemens didn't use external data. Yeah it's better again , but for less then 2months. The disease is back. my phone take 8 hours to charge by charger. it immediately displays "charge completed" as soon as i connect the charger without charging. BUT it charging has no problem when i use uSB to charge it. Can some one suggest me where is the problem.

Its the best phone compare to sony ericsion k750i and k550i. Both have 2 mp camera but the pictre quality is very bad. S88 photo is very good . K750i and k550i chappge lasts only f6r 18 hour. S88 sound quality is better than sony ericrsion

In reply to the last question, you should do that if you saved the contact in the phonebook memory, and edit the contact, than you can choose a picture. note that this phone has the best callpicture function i ever see on a mobile, the picture ocupies the whole screen.

It's MOBISTAR in belgium. You can only get internet with an S65 I think...otherwise it's still a very good phone! Of course you can have internet on this phone, because it has a xHTML 2.0 wap browser! You have to check the wap settings next to your operator, best advice, go to a Mobistar shop and check next to them. If they tell you that they don�t support this phone, ask them for the settings about the EF81 because they are the same with different menu locations.

In answer to the last comment, mobistar or movistar lilke in Spain? Well i had the same problem with mine here in Portugal, with Vodafone, back then i went to a store and use it with the settings of a BenQ-Siemens EF81 and in spite of different menus, it worked. This is the problem when you don�t buy the phone in the operator like i did. Speaking about the screen, it�s right what you said, the saturation is excelent such as the elevated contrast ratio 1000000:1, if you�re using the camera you have to use manual settings to get the best of it, sometimes automatic doesn�t deliver the best.I�m still looking for a better display phone and i haven�t found it, and this is a 2006 phone!!!Amazing

The 2MP camera on this phone is better then my dad's Nokia 6300.and much more simpler to use.It's OLED screen offers a very high saturation of colours so it's not that good screen. another bad point is that I can't get internet with it(i'm in mobistar)

Agree with last comment, the thing is, the bundled software in the cd is awful...This kind of phone deserves a better cd software. I have one more than one year and i intend to keep it at lest another year. See the competion and the latest phones on the market and you wont find such a magnificent screen quality! Realy it�s impressive, i stil don�t get it , why manufacters insist on TFT technology, OLED is so much better. The only major problem is visibility under sunlight, otherwise is perfect! TV manufacters already understood this and intend to develop this technology in future TV�s... Sony already launched one model in Japan

to all who are disappointed with the phone, keep in mind that it came out more than a year ago (more or less). I have one and I've been using it for quite some time. I don't think it would ever compare with the latest phones out there but, for its time, it was one of the best. Great camera (with great stabilizers and flash), great mp3 player (with playlist), great form factor and GUI usability. Plus, it's pretty rare to find somebody using it these days and that's a definite plus.

how many sms can be stored in the phone ? does it also have an sms archive just like older siemens phone aside from the regular sms storage ? can we put them in separate folders too? 500sms in phone memory, yes it has an archive but it�s called private folder, wich mean is protected buy your phone code. it has the inbox, sent messages, drafts and to send. it�s a great phone but unfortunately is sometimes a bit slower when typing sms specialy if you pass the 160 caracheters....Apart from that the software is intuitive and easy, and it�s very stable unlike Siemens software, wich was often necessary to reset....

I did not use a mobile worse than this one, it is slow slow slow slow that sometimes i want to step on it with my feet hoping it will work faster. any way to all who buy this mobile don't consider buying it a bad luck but take it as a test from God to your patient and when you have enough money to buy a new one don't think twice do it and keep S88 to remind you how a patient wonderful person you are.

All I can say it's good enough for me as a student. First, it has a 2 mega pixel camera. Second,it's cheap. Third and last,you can't find anymore of these babies and if you have one of these like me well, were unique unlike Nokia's that are very common. What you gonna face after buying it: #Slow camera, work very bad on moving object comparing to SE or Nokia. # No playlist on MP3 player. #No Text file reading option. # Large Java file not supported. In fact only 5-8% of java program will run on this set even they are small in size. # image editor is really nothing but crap. # Can't differ between "Blue" & "Indigo" color despite having OLED display. # Slow animation & 3GPs require less frame rate to play smoothly. #Bluetooth doesn't support remote controlling with PC or BT chat program. # Using Opera Min is almost impossible in ths set. If I can remember other demerits, ;ll let you know. For new buyers, Don't buy it! Rather give your money to poor, you'll have more satisfaction than using this phone.

OK it�s true it has some shourcomings, but hey many other phones have. The software is fine if you don�t get much fuzy about it, every function is placed where it shoud be. The thing i must praised about this phone it�s his steadiness, i don�t remember at all to need to remove the batery because the phone frozed. This is the best phone i ever had, and i had many Siemens.

I wouldn't say the S88 is disgusting or other similar words. But I just warn those who are tempted by this beautiful and attractive phone, with many features (especially multimedia), that it has 2 MAJOR negative points : - it's VERY VERY VERY slow (no way to be better, it concerns the hardware) - the interface is absolutely not ergonomic, unlike the old wonderful Siemens phones. This leads to press many keys more than necessary, and increase the slowness of this phone. For this point, we hope a software upgrade, still unavailable in december 2007. Some examples : - to get your call list, press the "on" button, it will take around 5 seconds to see your list. - to find a name in your adress book, for example "Samia", you must press ONCE the button "7" and wait (you'll see the list beginning with "p"), then ONCE AGAIN and wait (list beginning with "q"), then ONCE AGAIN and wait (list beginning with "r"), and finally the same button to see the list beginning with "s" !!!! If you press quickly 4 times on this button, you'll get the "p" list anyway. - the management of the adress book is awfull. For example, if someone, whose mobile number is in your phone book, calls you with his office number, you cannot add this number in the same contact : you must exit, remember or write the number on a paper, then add the number to the contact. VERY VERY heavy operation. - the management of the notes is awfull too, and in addition, you cannot exceed - no "copy-paste" - etc... It's a good phone for those who don't need speedness or notes, for those who have a few contacts, in particular young people. But these young persons are speed champions when writing messages, therefore they would be disappointed by this very slow S88.

I have been using s88 for few months. I think it's a good cell phone. The problem is it's software. My firmware version is 1.29 I use a 1GB memory card! I have been able to connect with Grameenphone wap but not MMS. It's not working. I manually configure the GP wap/MMS connection settings. Now I use opera mini 3 (basic version) It doesn't support opera mini 3 advanced version and opera mini 4. Through opera mini 3 (basic version) I can easily browse all kind of websites even orkut and most of the common messenger. But problem is basic version doesn't support any kind of download from internet or video playing! It is also compatible with mig33. I have downloaded mig33 from internet and installed in my s88 through data cable. But mig33 is not supported by any cell phone network in Bangladesh. Actually recently all the networks stop mig33. I want to upgrade my firmware but it isn't available on net. Well, I can't understand why this phone doesn't support opera mini 4? Opera mini 4 is the latest software for internet access. If it supports opera mini 4 then it would be one of the best cell phone. Java is ok but battery becomes low when playing java related games or using opera mini. Please share your comments.

-no firmware available on the internet, so all you have to do is bring your S88 to the service centre and ask for an upgrade -i don't know exactly from which firmware support watching video full screen, but I think it's 1.32 -if you want to use time stamp, please choose the resolution 640x480

As for the questions you posted, there�s no chance to install new themes unlike Siemens software phones you can only use the pre instaled wich are 3, red, green and blue don�t forguet this is a buisness phone not an entertaining one "S"88 . You can only use the stamp hour if you choose a lower resolution like 640*480, such as the frame feature. Hope i been useful

the latest firmware for S88 is 1.42 I have my S88 just upgraded, and it's better than the old one (of course): -faster response -better sound via headset -better display, brighter (I feel so, not 100% right) -video recorded by S88's camera can be watched full on PC with every 3GP compatible player

it definitely is worth it.the camera is really good.it may be 2mp only compared to my SE k800i 3.2 but the quality is definitely equal or better than that of the SE.it just shows how good the quality is.i'm not too sure about the loudspeakers though.it seemed to be softer than that of SE K610i.but the camera alone is really worth it.

Hello..i got 2 problems with this phone..first one is with JAVA..when i finish playing game it doesnt save anything.;.ANYTHING..it doesnt save high scores, levels of the game i have passed..in other words, every time i have to start playing the game from the start..it doesnt save the game..i have tried like 100+ diff games..only one it can safe is the tennis wich was already installed.. another problem is wap browser..if i save bookmarks and turn off phone, after i turn it on no bookmarks is saved...anyone knows how to fix these problems? :)

siemens is my first choice when new is sourced, I owned quite a few models and the last unit is S65 and still in service. I bought a new S88 last week, look good but the features and no longer user friendly. for example: 1. to unloack keypad, 2 buttons are pressed 2. to key in SMS, switching input language for same message, involve more more steps and more buttons to be pressed 3. I can't even find the screen saver for this phone 4. No preview for the ringtone selection 5. the worst is the web page for the benq, browsed all and still no way you can feedback your comment. This might be my last model for Siemens. Sad to the benq, turn a high tech mobile to poor unit

to justice, hello there like u i m also a benq owner and using this set for not more than 3 months.anyways like u i also felt same kind of problem that is using time stamp on the photos. here is the solution. first u have to set ur phones camere resolution to 640*480. and only then u will be able to find the timestamp options that could be turned on.

I had the same doubt some mounths ago, and i bought this S88... To tell you the truth i coudn�t be more happy, this is the best mobile i ever had in my life, it�s really one of a kind, and i must say one of the best and unapreciated products of Beqn-siemens. I always like Siemens, but this phone has anything to do with Siemens because its software is pure Benq an thank god for that! First of all is display is amazing because it uses OLED techonlogy and is contrast and sharpness you don�s see any mobile with this quality of image believe i saw many Nokias N series and none of them even compares in reallity of colors provided by the screen. It has a wonderful design wich won the if award design back in 2006, and it�s very solid. All the rest is very good like it�s camera , sound quality, mp3....The only drwback it�s the sms writting somtimes it could be really slow, so if you�re an sms fan think twice... Don�t let the brand fool you, this phone is very unique. Benq-siemens el71 i saw it once, but form what i�ve red it�s batery life don�t even last one day thats why i didn�t bought it...My s88 lasts 3-4 days with regular usage wich is fine for me.I hope i could be usefull

I Already use this phone for 1 week, & it works just fine. picture & sound quality of the handset are great but the handsfree & the battery doesn't satisfy me. with normal use it only last for 1-2 days, except u use the power saving which can make it last for 3-4 days, & for the handsfree don't use the bass EQ cause it's gonna make the sound bad. features are good & friendly use, camera is great, but for the SMS it can be slower if u type the message too long. overal this is a good phone, because of the great feature, stable firmware (i got 1.42) & a low price!!!

hey people,i'm using s88 for 2 months now and im VERY satisfied with it;-) the camera is irresistible! 2mp with the best flash (it's a bit of a problem when you want to take a photo of yourself,but it's excelent:-)) the sound quality is very nice indeed,and it has 3D option for stereo headset:-) i also have sony ericsson k700i,and the difference is that the software of SE is faster and it has radio and infrared. very important thing is that i use kingston micro SD 1GB,i made the card full (982 mb) and the memory stick didn't slow down the mobile phone not for a single second!:-) note for all of you friends: i always keep the phone memory free;-) the video is also at a good level (it's better than k750i in camera and video:-)) and the battery is sensational,it lasts 4 days;-) it's cons are that it cannot install java games without its JAD format,it has limited KB per java game and the software is slower:-( the games are clearly slower compared with the k750i. my conclusion is that SE k750i is better in one way and s88 in another,so it's yours to choose:-) i'm very satisfied with it and for the money it's the best:-) greetings to all of you bye for now;-)

There r something u can certainly complain about this phone, such as its slowness, but dont worry about its photo quality- even beats some digital camera. "where to settle", "just not enough", and "her own attention" r the 3 pieces i made w my s88 and some help from photoimpact.

to DhaPhiedz: Sorry took that long to respond, I was simply occupied by my GRE (done! yay~ I'm freed) I just notice we might have some miscomprehension here, I wonder if ur talkin about the handset or the speaker at the back. my prob was about the handset noise, which handn't been a prob big enough for Benq to notice untill I reported it. About the speaker noise, yea its a hardware prob since it started to b made in china. But they found the solution already and if u do get bothered go fix it~ let me kno if they crumbled. you need a fw uprade anyway dont u? btw my s88 works perfect now! except they forgot to upgrade my fw to 1.41 (which allows a 2G microSD card usage.)

to DhaPhiedz: That's weird, the latest fw in tw is 1.42 already, i dont kno this kinda thing's not globalized..but my 1.34 works out fine and i think 1.24 supports no full-screen video vewing mode (which is kinda important to me.) about the "zzzt" sound i gotta say i was bothered by it since i bought it. An easy way out is to select "1800Hz only" mode if this freq works out fine at ur residence. But I end up pissed by it and sent it back to Benq-Siemens and they got it fixed. According to them this prob hadn't been reported until recently, its some sort of elec-current prob. Im supposed to get my fixed phone back tomorrow morning and I'll let u kno if this prob's solved. I suggest u go to ur local dealer if u cant stand this noise, and if they can't do anything about it i'll call the BS HQ for u A big s88 fan

Very simple first of all, Benq bought the Siemens factory, and they never co-worked together like sonyEricsson thats why you see different software in Benq-Siemens line, Siemens made: M81,El71, EF81, E71, Benq made all the others including tHE S88. I don�t regret buy this phone, Benq software is more stable and less problematic than the Siemens software.

gud day to all again, i am now using this phone for more than a year now! - camera resolution is very good quality. i have compared it with N70 and N73; SEw800 etc. - sound is also very good compared to other; you can customize ringtones as mp3. minus - software is a bit slow compared to SE or nokia. - bluetooth cannot do wireless mp3 player using BT-headset. - micro sd supports 1gb.... afraid to try 2gb - keypads too small.... can't do fast sms typing. - no firmware upgrade.....

I'm not sure, if you really got this phone, to talk such trash.. 1.the phone is slow, it's true, and that is the biggest minus but : the camera performance by the phone is just excellent , theres no other camera with such qulity @ 2 MP, so plz don't complain about flash "problems", that mb dont even exist ( i can't understand it right, by your "english" ) and the phone is better than k750 , by design, camera, soundqulity,everything but speed.. the thing is BS don't care much about their phones anymore due the problems around the partnership

I have just bought the S88. I have SE K750i for an year and half. About the camera I can say that the S88 even passes the K750i, the pictures taken are at highest possible level for 2MP phone. The sound is very good and its loundness is better that K750. But there will always be but: the speed of the phone is not at the level of a mid range bussines phone, the bluetooth connection is very slow, but the most of all are the software BUGS and there are a lot. 1. It does not support pictures taken 1600x1200 from SE k750 and that annoys. 2.One playlist in the MP3 player , etc. 3.The biggest minus for BENQ is no support for its buyers. Please go on SE site and see the software patches and upgrades. In a year and a half I have upgraded twice my SE k750. It'a a waste for a such quality of phone like the S88 which in my opinion has better camera than SE k750i to have such stupid problems. These firmware updates should be available by Benq. In the end. How Benq expects of me to buy his phones when the company even does not even tries to give support.

Excelent phone in spite form what i�ve heard, i think people are so demanding with their phones....For 120� i bought one unlocked phone, with a excelent 2MP autofocus camera better than many on the market like the Nokia 6280, MP3 player, expandable memory with micro SD, good quality display, excelent batery...The phone is not slow, at least mine with the fw:1.25 What could possibily want more for this price?? Here r 2 tips to check ur s88 (not sure if works on other models tho) *#301#, then dial: test the functions of the s88, including LCD test *#300#, then tial: check ur firmware version and other stuffs

To KD: The "unsupported" msg doesn't mean u can't view pics from that SE cell, it simply means that s88 doesn't display pics too big for it. The max size from the s88 camera would b 1200X1600, so below that resolution would be perfectly displayed (tho i still dont understand y the yset this limit). So if u want to use this pic as a wallpaper, u can adjust the resolution- that would be the easiest way to do. To me this phone is not that multitasking. It's more like an extension unit of my laptop, serving good quality in music playing, camera quality, and astonishing OLED display (well, other things could be crap, like JAVA, but it doesnt matter to me).

yes, it's really not annoing, and the speed depends on the software you got, so 1.20 might be slow, i got 1.32 and its not slow

OK, let's talk bout d multitasking thing... OK, yes you may listen 2 music while u're in d standby mode. You may look 4 different functions of d phone etc. But it is right 2 say that this phone is not 4 multitasking. For example, as u listen 2 music, you cannot shoot a picture, you cannot read or send a text message, you cannot play any game, etc... In other words, yeah, it sucks, but just listen 2 music! D fact u have only 1 playist is also kinna bothering. Pat, don't worrie about the slowness, its not big deal and it's not that annyoing as someone says, i got all my stuff on the micro sd and i think it's ok like that,it all depends on the version of software you got, mine is 1.32 and its o.k. as i said, be sure u get 1.32+ good luck :)

Hi ppl, a long time u don't hear from me, at least not oficially. 4 those who read the pages rom b4, i once wrote that i will write a review on this phone. Well, here it is: I have used this phone 4 a while n i am pretty satisfied. The fw i use is 1.25. OK, let me start with the screen... UNBELIEVABLE!!! I never saw a screen with such vibrnt colours. The contrast is tremendous. Unfortunately, some ppl don't like it, but when watching videos, this phone is d best... D camera is simply gorgeous, d best have seen in its class. of course not like k800, but gr8! If u set ISO to 100, in daylight, no need for a digicam... I didn't try filming a video. I am one of those who believe that a phone is 2 take pics, not videos... MP3 player is rather good. Quality is superb. U can listen 2 music all d time except when taking pics/videos, using a java application or texting a text message... In other words, just listen 2 d music... D fone is rather good in calls, volume level is pretty good. D handsfree included is pretty useful! 4 those who ask bout loudspeaker, don't listen 2 music through it. Yes loudspeaker's great, but d handsfree is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better... Now, talking bout java applications. S88 was not built 4 that. Unless u have both d .jar and .jad file, u can't install anything. And if u just have d .jar, n u use a software such as JADMaker, 2 make d .jad file, 4get it, d application won't work. Another problem i've had is that d phone allows u 2 install applications up 2 230KB in size. It sounds rather absurd, but it's d truth. I am a Seveth Day Adventist, n i wanted 2 install a Bible program in it, n i could not cuz d file was 2 big. D phone simply displayed d message "File is too large"... That really freaked me out. If u plan 2 install java apps, i don't think that this is d phone... BDW, if anyone knows how 2 solve d problem of up 2 230 KB only, PLZZZZZZZZZZ help, cuz i really want 2 install d Bible badly!!! It is still not possible to send a person with his contacts from the phonebook of my S88 to somebody by SMS. The only optin is Vcard, but evryone receives empty SMS from me. SW is 1.18. I decided very quicky to change my Siemens S65 with the "next S" but it's not true. The sotware problems of S65 are only fraction of the S88. miro

well doit...to be completely honest with you, i find the S88 to be a very good mobile phone ingeneral... Advantages: 1-Very good camera (the best 2 mpx camera out there) especially ion the OLED screen 2- the OLED screen shows vibrant colors, its just beautiful and you can see a big big difference between the S88 screen and ANY other screen 3- the speakers are loud and clear. louder than the K750 disadvantages: 1- the software is a little slow 2- it is very simple, basic functions no advanced controls (you will notice a difference between it and othe original siemens devices) 3- no themes applicable , only 3 preinstalled themes and no mp3 sms ringtones only 12 preinstalled ringtones can be used. but overall the software is very stable(i use 1.25) never hanged on me, never turns off... in a nutshell, as you can see the S88 is superioir in its hardware but weak in its software. so it all comes down to what you prefer...hardware or software do i advise the S88???? definitely!! hope this helped :o)

the S88 camera is defenitly better than the SE and Nokia cameras. i tried a nokia mocrosd card on the S88 and it didn't work, the phone did not recognize it. and the messages are stored on a seperate memory about 7.9 mb. i once had 500 sms in the inbox and there was still more space left!!!!!!!!!

HI, listen, bout ur first question, no idea. Nevertheless, ALL microSD and TransFlash cards R D SAME THING! Any of them shoud work. Once the phone asks for a microSD or TransFlash, d cell will accept any of the 2. Bout d 3rd ques, 2 megapixels is 2MP no matter whether it's Nokia, BS, SE, Moto, etc. It's a matter of resolution. So pics of any 2MP camera will have d same size (area). Nevertheless, different phones have different lens, different photo processors, and these factors, along with others, will cause d picture quality (Clarity, etc.) 2 change from phone 2 phone. Hope this info helps. PPL, i usually get 2 this site bout once a day, so keep asking ques, i'll answer if i can!

hey guys i got a problem : When i put the usb cabel in the phone and try to download some mp3's i couldn't find the micro sd anywhere on the qsyncher(media or file manager), but in the phone memory is 244 mb, and i can cut songs from melodie folder and put them in there...i did formated the card when i get it, and then begun to store mp3's and stuff there, but the pc didn't want to to recognize it, it just cannot find it.. plz any help

@ doit2002 It all depends on what u want from a phone. OK, they say the firmware of K750 is much more stable than S88. K750 has radio n infrared, which r crucial feature 4 some ppl. Nevertheless, in my opinion these don't matter that much. With bluetooth is enough. I think that in terms of camerawise, both r bout d same (Excellent indeed!). in terms of sound, d S88 seems 2 have a tremendous loudspeaker, that is both loud n clear, better than k750. Ne how, just try 2 b more specific m so we'll b able answer better...

the flasher is probably XCSD which is on the same russian site as 1.28 firmware, AFAIK fw is in east european languages like russian, polish, czech and many more, but I'm pretty sure there is english also the point is noone knows how to upgrade and I didn't even see any cable which can be used to do this :/ so far the only known way to change fw is service centre :/

@Ivo 1/don't know 'bout memory card, but yes, menu is too slow 2/AFAIK it's very hard to upgrade FW (there is no suitable cable so U need to ask in gsm service if they can do that), so i think it's even harder to modify FW on your own, if there is a way to do this, someone please tell me!!! I've read that new firmware is better 3/only about 10-12 alerts available in the phone firmware can be set as sms ringtone, mp3 cannot be set as sms 4/u can see the images, use the calculator, stopwatch, make notes.. but u surely cannot write sms f.e. FW has even more "great" features (besides those mentioned in earlier comments): -no way to send a number from phonebook except sending a vCard which takes 2sms; -cursor during sms writing (without T9) can be moved only by a ONE! letter at once (or up/down by one line), it's not possible to move by page or word; -volume of mp3 ringtones is not high enough for me (and I'm not deaf even a little !! :)); -converation volume is too low as well; -max size of MMS 100kb - is this a joke or what?; there are probably more "bugs" FW is real crap, the only hope for this mobile is upgrading it with good firmware .. but is there a good one? :/ if I won't find a way to upgrade it, I'll be forced to look for another mobile (or I'll just say sorry to my old S45) I'd love to know (and have all neccessary things) to modify and change the FW, but I'm losing hope it's possible :((((

Which one do YOU recommend? For me the 2Mpix camera is a must, i also care about the price. My father has the K750i so i know that it's good. Thanks for answers I know how to uncheck all t9's in settings but the problem is that every time I turn the phone on they're all checked :) and I have to uncheck them over and over again :) The phone just doesn't keep the t9 settings.

@ marcin... 1)) to switch ti silent mode immediately, just press and hold the right soft key "the camera" key on the main screen... 2)) to change the input, go to menu>settings>input>available list.. and in there uncheck all the t9 text inputs and there you go... 3)) the low volume speaker, i don't think its a HW issue and i don't think it can be fixed 4)) and no you can not upgrade the SW on your own, at least AFAIK!!

I really love this phone, because of its style, very elegant! I want to make a unique choice while all of my friends are using S88's rival K750i! But S88 makes me dissapoint a lot 1/ cannot set MP3 as SMS alert 2/ cannot fast forward or backward in MP3 player 3/ cannot do anything while listening to MP3 4/ cannot create more than 1 playlist 5/ the phone is slow All that troubles is just because of firmware, why don't BenQ-Siemens release anyone for us to upgrade? Hi. I've recently bought this mobile. It's quite ok but unfortunately it has some annoying bugs f.e there is no "hotkey" to turn off ringtones immediately!!! or U can't see on the main screen what's set on the 0-9 shortcut button, and of course slow software or v.small size of MMS! :/ but my real "problems" are: 1/ I have to disable all T9's every single time I turn off/on the phone - and there's no "hotkey" to do this like it was in S45 f.e. (I don't have my native language in s88 so i don't use t9). any solutions of this problem? is it possible to disable t9 for good? 2/annoying and important bug is low speaker volume (I mean the one ur using 4 normal conversations, not the "loud" one).. any1 knows how to fix this low volume problem? is it possible to increase it by changing software or some hardware interference? 3/can I upgrade firmware on my own? if yes then what do I need to do this? Please help me - it'll allow me to really enjoy this mobile :) (Now it's a little irritating)

Benq in joint venture with Siemens has gone bankrupt. these models are available for clearance sale at throw away prices in Bahrain market with the condition no return and no warranty. so watch out. Hi Jonathan, I sent my S88 to my local Benq-siemens service centre for the firmware upgrade. It takes about 4 hours. I have no idea whether can this be done maually by ourselves. Yes, if decent sound and camera from a mobile is important to you the S88 will fulfil your requirements. Have you checked out the sample pictures by S88. they look pretty decent for a 2MP mobile camera, close to (or comparable to as some might say) SE K750i. Hope this helps. Do write a review of how you feel about the S88 if you get it!

Hi Jonathan, Seems like you made up your mind to get the S88? Don't worry so much, the trick is like any other phone try to upgrade the firmware to the latest possible. It is said that the lag improves with newer firmware. i upgraded mine recently, ok it's still slow but to be fair it's more stable and more responsive than before. Whatever your final decision, hope you had fun with your new handphone. :)

Forgot to mention, the lag is between 0.5 to 1 sec in most cases. So just imagine pausing for about a sec when moving from one interface to another Enlarging photos in preview mode= 2 to 4 sec.

HI Jonathan, If you are considering using this phone to listen to mp3 songs through the loudspeaker and to take photos, I would say it's a safe bet as I am using it. Let me give you some examples of how the phone can 'annoy' you due to it's slow response. Personally I have got used to it as it does what a phone should do (receive and answer call) pretty well. There is a short lag in whatever command you use on the phone. Say from the main menu (9 icons) you want go into media player or profile or calender the response is not 'instantaneous' like those from Nokia. The sms lags too, the longer you type your message , the more obvious it becomes. The phone can't seem to keep up with you when you select words from the dictionary or key in alphabets. And it will cause you to write wrong words even if you key in the correct one as the phone can't 'register' from it's lag. But it doesn't happen all the time. When reviewing the photo you've taken, selecting photo and enlarging is really slow. Sometimes when you execute from one command to another it just lags considerably. One thing you must know, when you write sms or take photo you can't play ur mp3. Basically don't imagine it to be a pc whereby you can play background music and leisurely scroll/edit your pictures or read/write sms. Someone said it's possible if you use sms chat. Sounds bad? It really is to some, sometimes I just hate S88 when i am trying to do many things at one on the S88, like editing pictures, viewing calender, changing profiles, searchng names etc. but when i hear the sound and see the pictures from the phone I told myself I have not made the wrong choice cos nice sound and decent camera is what I have been looking for. Hello Q answer and arrmy, I took a 1 min video of my company D&D function and I managed to play the full video (a 3GP file) on Apple quicktime. No signs of premature stopping at 15 sec or whatsoever. But due to slow frame rate and poor sound quality the video, in my opinion is only useful if you don't have other means of recording video other than using the phone. I've seen nokia 6233 video on Youtube much better I would say. Maybe you can try using quicktime to play video?

Hi arrmy, I'm glad you like the phone. No though the navigation is slow I don't regret getting it. In fact it's been 2 months and I still like it cos i can get decent pictures from it's camera and it acts like a mini mp3 player with it's clear sound. I'm curious about the special media player too. Have not tried viewing movies on pc. I think a digicam does a better job.

Hi arrmy, i don't know if the stiff joystick represents durabilty, but at least your fingers don't really hurt when you use it. I understand that you may get the phone soon. Have you seriously asked yourself are you able to tolerate the slow response during menu navigation? Especially if you're used to the speed that Nokia and many others offer? Because I'm afraid it may be too late when you realised this fact only when you start using the S88, and you may regret it.

arrmy....yes that's true the joystick is in fact a little stiff but not that stiff that u can't use comfortably, in fact i think that represents durability of the joystick unlike other brands that have too soft joysticks and that stop working after a while.... ;-)

Q answers, thanks for your kind comments. I agree with you, maybe some phones models (Nokias) can withstand a fair amount of 'dropping' but I guess no phones can make it if you 'always drop' it, especially if you drop it into water. The S88 can accept AAC and mp3 music formats only, and I use Nero to convert cds to 128kbs VBR files which in my humble opinion, sounds as good as if not better than mp3 on my S88. Yes the loudspeaker is indeed loud, the 'highs' of the sound is rather clear, I can't explain it, you have to hear it. It's comparable to some of the best speakers found in mobile phones today, not those squeeky ear piercing sound you might hear on others. If you want to have a feel of how the 2MP camera performs, I have posted some pics on Yahoo flickr under the tag: Benq S88 camera. Under find photo please type the above tag.

This is a bad phone it gets hanged every time u try to access Mcard.Any ways it also get wasted if you drop it from ur hand.By the way i forgot to say how bad the sound comes in headset.Flash is totally useless.It is a complete crap n waste of money.Its better to buy W700i. Hi all, I have a question to ask. When i rip my cds using itune, my Benq S88 cannot seem to 'recognise' the files and play them even though it's stated that it can play back AAC files. Does anyone have the same encounter and what can be done? Thanks.

1- the S88 can not play .rm files, so i suggest transfering those files to a PC and converting them to .3gp or .mp4 format that the phone can play....there are a lot of such converting sw, like the ImToo 3gp converter 2-Alfredo ... never had such a problem, it's probably a problem with ur micro sd card, or u can try to upgrade ur sw version...

1- yes u can use animated pics as background 2- the thing with BT on the S88 is that u have to pair with the other device before u can send data to that device.....it is not slow at all and it is easy to deal with...it's speed= 20kbps which is comparable to any other device like nokia or SE 3- sure SeF......here

I realized that lots of people out there are curious about this phone. I own one and I will give some comments. Some cons...Are you tolerant of a slow menu navigation? It can be as slow as between 1-1.5 secs if you run through the menu and execute some commands like unlocking the phone and entering into mp3 player mode. And this occurs too when you navigate from one command to another, e.g. things like you search for a name to send sms to searching to sending sms and to sent sms confirmation, it all takes patience due to the slight lag. Fortunately writing sms isn�t terribly slow. It is unlikely for the phone to hang if you just have a little patience. Mine hang on me only when I navigate through the song or movie list stored on the micro SD card. It�s not common. Maybe it�s the card problem. You have to try the phone yourself to understand about the lag. I was hesitant when I tried it at first cos it�s definitely very slow when compared to Nokias. But I know about the speaker and camera quality so I decided why not I just get the phone. So for those who, after trying can convince themselves that this might be the phone..read on. I was rather pleased with the loudspeaker. It is really loud at MAX and without distortion. I played Josh Groban�s Canto Alla Vita and his voice came in powerfully clear. The treble is sweet and clear and the bass is audible. You can�t expect much bass from a tiny speaker. I did not regret the S88 considering that I hear so much distortion from SE phones at times. Next the camera�some commented that the camera is worse compared to SE K750i. I don�t own the SE so I can�t compare. But the pictures I took are definitely satisfying. I was opening the files created by my Fuji 5MP and the files by S88 for the same subject and I was amazed to see just how close the results were. Except for the softness at the corners, colour saturation and and exposure is great. I can�t wait to print them out on 4R. It�s one of the best cameras built into a phone that you can find these days. Many other people have given thumbs up for the camera, I will give it another. Macro mode is good. Focus is accurate. Auto focusing really helps a lot. And I can in fact focus down to 5cm, it�s great! Battery life is great too. You can easily use the phone for 3 days�mine lasted me 5 days and is still at 50% charge, I�m not a heavy user. Reception is good too, clear voice quality. I almost forget to mention the screen. It�s bright, so bright that I use power saving mode to tone it down. The colors are brilliant. Yes, many LCDs can match this screen but they can�t match the contrast ratio. Black is totally black so when I watch movie clips on the phone it�s like watching a mini plasma screen. Good job by Benq�if the navigation can be made faster it�s even better.

1. the S88 camera is better than the K750 cam both on the mobile's screen which is very very obvious and on the PC screen and the zoom is more and the auto focus is better. 2.the 3D sound option can be activated when in the mp3 player > options > 3d sound > on 3.no u can't adjust the brightness of the screen...but the brightness is adjusted automatically when the camera is activated or when you are viewing pictures 4.correction, you can rewind and fastforward vidoe on the S88 5.the bluetooth here is fast enough, similar to the BT speed of other brand like SE K750 and all the nokias 6.the highest memory is 1GB microsd card 7.

s88 has OLED display. Looks more like a sticker. And it is known that Benq is a leader in OLED display. I am still to find 3d sound though. The camera is much much better than K750i. while others will show me the sales figures, you need to use this phone to know which is better.

S88 is an alternative to K750 for those people who already got bored of k750's design and interface: this has anything k750 has not to mention IR and Radio, anyway ASUS V80 is also similar to k750 and this, maybe if gsmarena could be fair to all brands, they must review all other phones, it's nothing worth that they put new additions to other brands without reviewing it... i remember before that this site is fair to the top manufacturers nokia,samsung,siemens,motorola,SE,panasonic and alcatel... i'm disappointed to that, nokia and SE are not the best phone producers in my point of view, some phones from other brands do have more innovative fetures: anyway nokia isn't the first phone to have optical zoom, samsung already has it before k750 was lauched, sharp has so many phones to offer that has optical zoom, first 3mp phone is from xcute in which i think 1.3 is only from SE and nokia's lineups and etc. aren't they innovative? they must review other phones so that people wont say only nokia and SE and samsung are the first to have that or those... i see so many potential mobiles but they lack some consumers because of brand domination,..

I had this phone for about 2 weeks or so.. I'm satisfied 'cos it's cheap and good enough. But on the other side, price never lies. There are things i don't like bout this phone. 1. eventhough has good sound, you can't rewind or fast forward songs and videos 2. often when i send sms, it's failed 3. the gprs is so so damn boring, so hard to connect 4. the bluetooth. it took years to transfer files using bluetooth from or to this phone But other than that, the camera is good, even better than other 2mpx camera phones.

regarding your query about connecting s88 to other handsets via bluetooth, its very easy my dear....password can be created by you not the phone...when it asks you to key the password, just key anything...say 0000 and then key the same on the other handset.. that's all good luck

this phone is really good, camera is great screen is great too. mp3 sound is nice it runs wma files too but doesn't support java well, so not many applications might run, and its not mentioned above that it comes with 256MB sd in my country It can be used as a USB flash memory when plugged to any computer (and charges using USB), software should be more stable specially regarding MP3 running while doing other stuff on phone all in all good package and good price and again brilliant camera

This phone is really great the features and everything. However, They should really try every aspect of the handphone software before selling it. Some points they should take note. 1. SMS sending. U can only type one number and the rest have to come from your phone book. Its a little irritating for me as i tend to memorize all the number. 2. The MP3 software is terrible. Everytime u recieve a phonecall or sms, your song wil replay from the start!! even if it is about to finish. So basicaly u can sms chat while your listenning to mp3 if not you will be hearing the same song over and over again. 3. They should do more to make the phone faster. It is really slow at some screen. 4. Most option can only be selected using the Keypad, this is ok. But when the rubber which makes the keypad comfortable drop off, it is really a chore to use the keypad. Some of these issue are really small issue but affect the usage great. If they can solve all these issue, this will really be one of the best handphone i have so far..

this phone is the best i've ever had i my life...the camera is awesome, the same as SE k750 if not better "due to the OLED screen"which i must say is just WOW...i mean it totaly beats the hell out of the N80 screen and any other phone screen for that matter "colorwise"...the MP3 quality is superb, u can actualy hear bass from the loudspeakers and it is loudenough....everything is so perfect about this phone i recommend it to everyone who doesn't want to spen A LOT of money and i can tell ya it is totally worth the money u spend on it!!!

yadayadayadaya!!! stop nagging!!! i had this phone for a month now and put it on alot of test and torture but it still works! doesn't hangs or prematurely shutsdown! try getting a phone for US$200 and does all that!..... camera, mp3, battery, calendar, signal, bluetooth, pc connectivity, and oled resolution are all good if not better. if you're still not satisfied, try getting a smartphone O2 for the same price (hehehe if you can find one)

yes, you can rcvd mp3 file directly thru bluetooth, i've done it, though a bit slow coz of the 1.2bluetooth version! i only had it for almost a week, am still trying it on.

I have an S88, and i'm very satisfied with it. more Cheaper than K750, greater display, nice photos (not a cyber-shot, but..), great battery life, nice sound quality... good phone. And to mention about originality, no brand have rights about bar, slide, or clamshell or flip or hell design... I like BenQ-Siemens a lot!

I have been using this S88 for about 4 weeks, and I am becoming annoyed by the slowness of its menu navigation and respones. I don't think I want to keep this phone much longer, unless ofcourse BenQSiemens release firmware update to make this 'almost' solid hp become a real solid one. Small things does not bother me, but many small annoying things are really painful, especially in rush time when I need my cellphone to work fast.

I just bought the phone 4 days ago, previously I used Nokia, Sony Ericsson & Motorola. I bought it @USD 279.00, without MicroSD Card. The Phone is Good in Design, Camera & Flash is also good enough, but the Software is not well enough, such as Phonebook is not that easy to access, although default wallpaper & Ringtones are not well, but the Communication with PC is awesome. Battery Stand by Time is not good. I think price is higher according to feature, I am not sure about performance.

I have the white one and it looks very sharp. The sound is really good, and the screen is awesome! 1) Visible difference between OLED and TFT I found is that the OLED screen can be seen from ANY angle with clear vision, unlike TFT. 2) It has flight mode. 3) Phone plays video nicely but with a bit of lag if you want highest resolution. Using 3GP converter let you watch avi, mpeg, asf, wmv... 4) Videos can be rewinded, ff, paused. Biggest con: LAG! Sometimes, you think you didn't pressed the button correctly so you press again so u input the button twice and wafter knowing that there is lag, you sometimes think you pressed the button so you wait until you notice you didn't...get very frustrating. I also got a few bugs, my tennis game isn't working anymore after 3 weeks, anyone knows how to fix? I got a screen freeze so had to remove battery to turn it off (maybe it doesn't happen with every phone though). Email me for any question.

i just bought this phone for about 400 dollars canadian, the screen is very nice and bright but it will have "ghosts" in the background after u go into a different menu. the camera is very good, it takes very sharp images, the joystick is a bit stiffy, but other than that i think this phone is very good,

Yes,it doesn't FM radio,i guess it's big "-" for most of us.. In the backis realy w800.. I said that before few posts. But ok,let it be w800 in back and old siemens in front + realy small body and good batery + nice mp3/aac player + Great camera & Display with stable software,fm radio and good battery it would be really astonishing! But for the last 3 I written is poor so.. Only if it's cheap will save him,otherwise very poor celling it will be.. At all I think this is the best Benq-siemens'es model at least for that moment:)

Best avaiable media phones are SE w800,K750,Nokia 3250,Alcatel s853. If we compare them by the multimedia features,the best choice from them will be w800 or s853. I think that for it's price s853 is best choice,but thats my opinion.. 3250 is too expensive,also it's music feautres are not so good..(for this see the comepring between media phones in mobile-review.com) K750 is more buisnes telephone,don't have w800's big card and much better phones,also it's player is not good as the w800's. So at last for me Alcatel s853 and SE w800 is the best for the moment!

The price will decide will the phone be a hit,or just a expensive stylish phone with great camera and innovatory display. One Alcatel OT s853 is much better in multimedia features,except the display and camera for 100euro less. But for s853's price it's not good for BS to cell s88 in price even with the se w800,only the display,3d sound and the camera is better in s88 than w800's Also the quiality of sound is unknown,so many people wrote here and didn't say how is the mp3 player,or thi headphones. w800's price in Germany is 340euro including VAT. At the same time s88 is 377euro incl. VAT. If you simply calculate w800 for ~340euro(around) have 512card in package+38mb phone memory,than you calculate s88 for around 370euro with 16mb and no card in the package.. Than you buy at 512mb for exaple MicroSD� for around 30euro. At same time alcatel ot s853 is around 260euro with VAT and 10mb+30euro for separately mini sd card,the s853 have push to talk,irda,bluetooth,HTML browser,EDGE,better batery(330h/8h) and mail client,all this non-existence in s88.. my personal choice will be between w800i or OT s853,both more features for less money than s88,except only s88's display and camera.. good luck BS,non-expected start

ok, i actually bought this phone at bugis just yesterday. I was really taken in by the design. aesthetics wise, this phone scores high in that department. interface not too bad as well compared to my previous samsung. Ok, here's my gripes: profile mode very inflexible, unlike nokia which allows u to change yr profile name. worst bit for me, the freaking stiff joystick. really bugs me, makes navigation a real pain. If u buy phones according to design, then go ahead and buy this but if you;re really picky about details and stuff, then i suggest u skip this. Far from perfect. I hope this helps.

In the front,it's desighn from some previous siemens,in the back,is absolute w800i,but i don't care! It's display is much much better,it's camera too! No radio,but in the end it can't be perfect! Some good price and it will hit the market as no one had ever before done it in the very beggining in such kind of union! Would be better if this great(seemly for now) phone came to Bulgaria soon in good price! And maybe my next phone,will see,comparing in the shop live in my hands! :) Good job and luck BS!

Its a joystick... This phone is quite a all-rounder. As a 2.5G phone, I think it is maybe one of the best currently in the market. Its display is really outstanding. I saw this phone in a telecom shop and its display really stand out from normal 262k colour TFT display. Even though it is same 176*220 display. Trust me its OLED really makes a different. It has a wide range of angle to view and make its photo viewfinder much more vibrant than conventional TFTs.

Just came back from an M1 road show in Singapore. Had decided to buy SE K750i or W800i, but after seeing the new S88 Im not sure. The screen is beautiful. To the one who asked: It does NOT support a standard 3.5mm stereo jack. Another thing: Music playback stops while you write sms...then resumes again where it stops. That sucks if you ask me...

Good phone really. Although it does look like the k750i, its functions ARE better. and i've seen the photo qualities between the two phones. S88 has better quality. Video recording abt 3 hrs, quality also can be compared to 750i. It also has a private folder thing. It also has the first OLED screen fer GSM phones, really nice. cool! BenQ is actually an ODM, they've designed phones for other companies b4 eg motorola, nokia.

I am privleged enough to use the royal 'we'. Just kidding. Lets be honest here there is little originality in phones these days. Motorola does seem to be leading the way in innovations. I believe they had the first flip phone, the first twist phone and then the slimmest phone. I have great hopes for this phone going off my past experience of BenQ hardware. Unfortunately my experience of Siemens phones is just disappointment but hopefully this partnership (buy out) will bring out the best of both and give a kick in the pants to the other companies as they appear to have become stagnant.

Who's 'we' exactly? I've posted several comments below stating that the S88's design is somewhat based on the SE's K750i not SIMPLY because of it's colour. I never said that BenQ-Siemens phone can't be black/silver (and only SE's phones can). My whole argument is based on the fact that the colour, design (where the buttons are situated, practically the overall design) and the camera's interface in particular must have been inspired from the K750i in some way or another because they are so alike.

Oh yeh- also... @carbonize Since when have siemen's ever made handsets that look like the design of the S88- (black, silver trim details- particularly on the battery cover, and a camera button on the side?- all of which the K750i's design features). Anybody know what the heck Jay is on about? I love all the comments about BenQ and Siemens teaming up but you all seem to forget about Sony and Ericsson teaming up. BenQ make some excellent hardware. I used to have a BenQ phone and it was high quality but the software sucked. Siemens on the other hand made mediocre phones. I feel this partnership will produce some serious high quality phones. I like this phone, even though almost everybody said that this phone is just like K750 built by benq-siemens.. Don't judge the phone by it's design.. FM Radio? I don't need it.. What I need most is email, which was not supported by this phone.. Better get S75 for that.. But actually this is a great phone, compared to other previous benq or siemens phone.. not everyone need radio or email or IM. But for basic function and extra stuff and the price too, this is a bang for buck :)

YoungSoze, u'r way off. If there wouldn't it be for those things you call clones, today the only slide phone producer would be Siemens. No samsung sliders, no Nokia sliders, etc. S88 and K750 have almost the same features but that doesn't make S88 a clone of the K750. It makes it a direct competitor! Maybe we should stop buying also Moto V3x and Nokia N70 for having a 2 mp camera and mp3. Or start considering them clones of the K750. Judge with your head, not with your fanatism for the favourite brand.

Hujefa, check out this thread from club-siemens. these are pics from the benq-siemens launch in taiwan with 2 sample pics from S88's 2mp cam. imho quality is quite acceptable. indoor noise is tolerable, it reminds me of indoor pics taken by the K750. let's hope that Benq-Siemens' step-up cooperation with pentax would give us good results.=)

A stand-by time of 200 hours??? I thought OLED screens consumed minimal amounts of energy despite the excellent display properties. This is obviously a premature application of this technology. I think I'll wait until it's tested a bit more extensively.

thanks xciter for agreeing to my point..........did u notice that benq-siemens s88 pictures of display can be found on gsmarena site but they are still not showing the pictures taken from the cell's 2 mp camera ?.......i would even like to check its video clarity..........if we compare s88 with k750i we find that k750i is providing more features that s88 but is also over priced............where as s88 has all the basic tools required to satisfy every ones need only if it costs around 12000 rs

@ Hujefa Penwala: you're a very positive person!=) i hope there would be more people like you. it's just so annoying that some people wanted to put down benq-siemens just like that, criticizing these new phones without even trying them first. this is a good start, we have yet to see true-blooded hybrid benq-siemens phones. i didn't jump when siemens' ship was sinking...i'd still be aboard when it resurfaces and will have a good voyage with it.=)

i am currently a cell user of Benq M100 ..........though it is a simple fone,it is worths its price..........i agree Benq is not as strong as nokia or sony-ericsson but i never underestimate the potentials of siemens.......because i have used siemens m65 which i find is better than nokia 6600 and even cheaper............i find in near future benq-siemens will be a tough pompetater to sony-ericsson and will be able to recover their losses being single company...........the word goes..........united we stand and divided we fall.......good thinkin benq-siemens........hujefa penwala

this phone is a combination of three phones: First, the K750i because camera, size, features...second the lower front part looks like 6230 and the uuper front part: the display, the joystick between sqare buttons is like the Nokia E60. The major things are from k750i. The backside looks identicaly to k750i

I didn't liked the joystick, its under a space where it could be smaller without problems to keep the buttom 2 in a size enough to you press without problems like the other buttoms. To everyone who's saying its a SE K750i copy, I think it's not: if this kind of bar phone (featuring 2mp camera, big screen and mp3 support) is a one company property, I think Ford should sue all other companies due copying they industrial model and ideas! The same I say for Motorola V3 fanboys. Anyway, maybe BENQ-Siemens will be a promising alliancem or not.

Hhhhmmm...They must have based their design on the K750i. Take a look at the silver bar on the back of the battery cover, and the similar silver camera button and how it's raised. Good looking though, i'd be interested to see what it's like- and have a go on one.

Wow, this looks like a great phone. Design is very much like the Siemens M75, but it's of course a lot smaller. I think this might be a good'un :)

it looks like K750, but a lot of phones do. if u take a look at M75, u can say it looks like that too. i think its just a tendency of the designers to make simple, minimalist bar phones. anyway, overall its not bad, but the screen resolution its kind of 2 years old...

@ seann: these phones are still pure siemens and benq. all of them are just co-branded and "not" co-produced. so we really can't judge benq-siemens for now in terms of design.

OLED LCD is better than TFT LCD. The technology is not used at a large scale yet. There is an experimental 17" OLED LCD from hitachi..i think. It is suposed to display more vivid, more natural colors than TFT LCD.

Hmmmmm....on closer inspection these new BS phones are nothing too special. This S88 is remarkably similar to the SEK750 in more ways than just looks: Look at the specs side by side:http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhon­e2=1090&idPhone1=1411 The EF81 flip is a V3 rip-off (altho it looks far better than the V3 imho) so it seems that although BS (unfortunate acronym!) are producing half-decent phones, they need to quickly assume their own corporate identity or they'll have no chance. The only one that even looks like a Siemens is the S68 and although its only entry-mid level, it certainly ain't the best out there. I'm sure they'll find their feet. These 3, although being suspiciously similar to the competition, are still a very good start for BS. If you look at some of SE's earlier phones, they weren't too cracky and its only in the last 12-15 months that they've started releasing really good phones, and IMO BS will be just as major a force within 2-3 years.
