BlackBerry Playbook - User Reviews

  • why do you still have this

  • Guys front camera stopped working after wiping, any help

  • Activation problem .

  • is this 3G/4G??

  • Actually my playbook is working great and i listen música with dezzer and readmisión book here

  • first on your tab, connect wifi WAP (Not Manually), press router button and again press connet button(at Bottom). write password in box and swip left in bottom. after complete this process download operating software (around 300 mb) and it install automatically and restart also. enjoy. remember playbook support only MP4 and WMV media or video file.

  • I have 1 like this with a 16gb and if you have a good wifi connection. That's the time that you can activate this device. you must have also a valid email and correct details for activating or resetting it.

  • I have playbook BO54 which doesnot work at all just shows it is switching on when kept in charge

  • when i switch on my bb playbook 32G it shows Welcome swipe to continue after swiping then it shows connect to wifi but i have tried several times but cant connect to any wifi network i connect to. NOW I cant use my device what can i do

  • Protection numbers

  • Hi Gents , i would appreciate to have your support for my playbook, the menu bar does not shows, and the desktop shows no icon at all

  • Thanks the hard reset worked...

  • You can still get them 2nd hand and pretty cheap too. I had one, sold it and then missed it due to its good screen and stable flash performance, so bought another one!

  • i had one of these. it was actually a good tablet. if you could get past the lack of apps available in the "app store" ... wish i still had it.

  • Blackberry's own OS sucks.Android's better.

  • Only a cheap masochist would buy this ruggedly-built, yet obsolete paperweight.

  • Down load aptoide for android apps

  • hi.. im from botswana, can the playbook connect to a cpu coz i tried but is not showing anything.. it just blinks and does nothing.. thank you

  • I haven't gotten it yet wanted to know if it can get apps from playstore by Google

  • Why review a deleted? -----because the Playbook (especially the 64gb) was & is a magnificent tablet at a great price. Still only 7 years old but outperforming many more recent tablets. Especially at current prices!

  • ??????????????.why put on a deleted

  • My playbook 64gb is giving me a problem, if switch it on it shows on a screen know your playbook, and i cant do anything. What can I do?

  • If you look into this on the playbook app store there is a app called origami browser which is a chrome browser (specifically chrome 29 ) which is a little out of date but is a very organized and stable browser

  • I have a 64gb playbook which has stopped working on the camera. Any one kindly help on what I can do to make it work again.

  • I bought my 64gb one for £129 best bargain i ever had . Still works great after all these years but browser is now so old its getting cranky and often stalls on opening pages I wish there was a way of putting in a new OS but many have tried and failed . Saying that unlike my android or windows tablets it still out performs them for security and i wouldnt use anything else to use online payments with. A great machine unfortunately cut short in its prime

  • Yes, it does support email and calendar. I have had my 64G playbook for 4 years. Everything still works. Great for reading online. I have had to do a hard restart twice. Hold power button down for several seconds while also holding the volume key. That does it.

  • Hi I am having a Blackberry Note book LTE 4G , but I cant able to enable sim in that , if I insert sim inside the slot it always shows as not connected Can some one help me with the settings to be changed to use the sim

  • Yes, it has its own.

  • Yes, it supports calende, email, text messages and bb messenger when paired to ur cellular bb through blackberry bridge.

  • I am from nepal and i have a blackberry playbook B054 16gb it doesn't work now and the maintainer says the power ic isn't woring how can i fix the problem? And what sort of power ic do i use?advice me the model of power ic if any... Plz give me a reply

  • Hi, could anyone tell me this playbook supports its own calendar and email?

  • Sorry where can I find playbook software

  • Good, but need android apps

  • Very good, but I can't download android applications.

  • Mine works fine, I can receive and send Email using EasyMail and OneFeed , no problems t all, and of course the touch keyboard is really nice for fat fingers after the pain of mobile equivalents. You may need an old OS like Windows XP or Windows 7 to be able to install and use Blackberry Desktop Manager, and dont bother with Windows 10-there are no drivers at all. Windows 8.1 CAN function, but I have found my old XP machine easily the best, and can easily transfer images and tracks to and fro, but the Desktop Manager needs to be correctly unmounted and then remounted each time you plug in. I diod manage on a Windows 8 laptop, but it took hours!! The Video is passable- useful to have, but the 5MP stills though good colour and exposure, tend to be noisy by today's standards- the lens though is first-class. I love my Playbook, I really do enjoy such a high quality well-made product, and using Wi-Fi I can watch news and uTube videos etc without any problems at all. Its great to have a booksized tablet you can take anywhere with you and type letters or a book on whilst listening to your stored WAV. and MP3 tracks on the stereo speakers or through headphones. Sound wired out through the headphone jack into a full-sized stereo is very good, but lacks the oomph and dynamic range the same WAV. file has on CD, but that's normal.

  • Me too,did you ever get it to work

  • I had the same problem, can't remember solution, but just kept trying til it worked. It had a page that needed to open for the country, all I rember.

  • Trying to start my new Tablet. Get as far as the Agreement page but it then tells me I need to select country/language so I go back and try again. Seems straightforward but still no luck. What am I doing wrong?

  • You're still using a Playbook in 2016, there is no helping you.

  • my blackberry play book camera have problem . when ever i click to capture a picture this message appear ( error 4003 ) . i dont know how to solve this problem, please help me . thanks .

  • Try using the PlayBook rapid charger. It charges 2x faster and saves tremendous amount of wear and tear on the micro charger/data slot. Hopefully yours hasnt been worn out.

  • 5 mins timer then standby is killing me. (playbook 32gg) somehow can i set the timer higher? pls

  • Does it send normal text messages and can u download any android applications on it?

  • the phone was ok for me,the graphics but my camera isnt working nd my blutooth is not pairing too. is of no use to me. if u have any solutiion pls help me out my email is [email protected]

  • my camera is not working again, its displaying error

  • Buy the playbook magnetic charger, if you can find one. It will charge a playbook that the wall-wart cannot.

  • Toss it. The broken camera is a known issue and is not worth fixing.

  • The camera never work again after a few weeks, I already reset the OS, and tried everything but the error something still appears, can someone help me? Thank you!!

  • I have a blackberry playbook 32gb.now it's touch is not working. I want a touch pad for my playbook. Where did I get it. Can u help me please...

  • I have a blackberry notepad but am having huge problems recharging the battery what can I do?

  • no and never

  • Only the 64 Gb version was cellular enabled, which I assume used a sim card. There weren't a lot of these made, most people bought the 16 or 32 Gb versions

  • dear all please tell me blackberry tab is using sim card r not ?

  • hey i dont have a bb phone..tab only...in the case how can i download the file on the pc...coz my tab say thaht ''not supported''....do u have downloaded file?

  • Hello guys..is there anyone here how to know what i can do so that i can play clash of clan in bb? Tnx for the answer

  • It has been with me for over 2 years, Excellent tab with a wonderful screen , But very very difficult to get it serviced if any issues , The spare parts are extinct .....like my HDMI socket was damaged and still not got it sorted.

  • try a hard reset (hold the on/off button for 20 seconds or so) and see if this works. ..

  • My blackberry playbook suddenly goes off and am not able to switch on again but when I plug in the charger it displays blackberry playbook on and that is all it doesn't move from that side neither does it even display my folders again it stuck at the blackberry playbook. Please what do I do???????

  • My blackberry playbook suddenly goes off and am not able to switch on again but when I plug in the charger it displays blackberry playbook on and that is all it doesn't move from that side neither does it even display my folders again it stuck at the blackberry playbook.

  • i mistakenly rebooted the black berry playnote and i have lost everything what do i do.

  • Hello Dubai, unfortunately I have yet to fix it.. The Camera app does not function. It is a software issue. And Blackberry shows no interest to fix it haha.. meanwhile I have moved on. I now have an iPad Mini 2 hehe

  • Same scenario as me.. Did you fix it? How do you fix that camera error? Because without cam i dont find it useful. Thanks

  • I bought 2 of these years ago in order to chat between the States and Eastern Europe... their chat works marvelously... they were well ahead of Skype at the time... and it's still a very, very good chat app... I have since side loaded a number of apps like Kindle onto this Playbook using ddpb?... you can find detailed instructions on the internet for doing this... it is unfortunate that Blackberry has had such troubles and no longer supports these... I got my moneys worth many times over, and my 6-yr old now uses it for games and videos on a daily basis... a good reliable tablet, but getting old :)

  • Sorry buddy. The Camera does not work for me either. When I open it, it simply goes black and says error. I have it but it is of not much use to me at all

  • My blackberryplaybook camera is reporting camera error each time i advanced to snap picture.

  • Good day. I have this device. Looks really nice. However the camera does not work and gives me error, it has no BBM, no basic Blackberry apps like IM, whats app, and most apps do not function well. Device video playback is sometimes laggy. That being said, it plays games flawlessly like Need For Speed, or Sonic Racing All Stars, which is like Mario Kart. Connectivity is kind of bad with the computer. I recommend get an iPad or Android tablet instead. Browser is laggy, but very capable! In fact it has a lot of great features. The browser works more like a PC browser than a mobile browser and honestly it is way more capable than the Safari browser. I would recommend it but it has too many flaws and limited apps. Great for storage and games though!!

  • Am i the only one having trouble when tryin to connect these to a computer running windows 8.1? Both of mine are giving me the same issue, i dont care im just curious if im the only dude experiencing the issue, if not ill invest in an older computer, if so then i really dont mind im investing in a pair of androids nextanyway, wait a week, i pray they wont be samsung tho, ive always gotten there defective products haha

  • Thanks frinds

  • Why would you ever buy a product that isnt even supported anymore...you should have done your research before you bought the device.....

  • I'm so frustrated having blackberry playbook, even a simple folder you can't make.

  • Don't buy PlayBook its complicated device and the apps suckered or don't work properly. Buy ipad or android device I waisted my money

  • Hi Download apk file of whatsapp on your PC/laptop and send via USB port .install and enjoy

  • plaese can u give me inform on playbook because some stolen my and wipe all the application i cant get any app on the desktop again

  • plaese can u give me inform on playbook because some stolen my and wipe all the application i cant get any app on the desktop again

  • plaese can u give me inform on playbook because some stolen my and wipe all the application i cant get any app on the desktop again

  • yes and yes

  • willing to buy this to my kids for playing games. is it worth? tq

  • Please, can this tablet browse the internet or make a phone call?

  • Good tablet but the blackberry world is not so good

  • Recharge count: 678 Battery Health: 83% After 2 years 6 months

  • You can buy these tablets for peanuts. Many have issues with the USB port, so be careful when buying because no USB means no file transfer and no charging. Speaking of charging, when plugged in it will pop up a message saying it can't charge. In fact it does charge, either turned on or turned off. It charges very slowly (usually it takes a night). Careful not to fully discharge the tablet, because many were not able to charge it back again afterwards. It is heavy but I use it on a stand so it doesn't matter. Great tablet for kids to watch a film or internet, because it has an amazing screen - better than many tablets as of today - amazing front facing speakers and a micro HDMI port, so you can connect it directly to the TV to watch a movie or internet/Youtube or games. The rear camera is amazing for taking pictures or movies. The front camera doesn't matter because there is no way to connect to Skype with this tablet.

  • Play for blackberry play book?

  • use ddpb installer

  • It's a rubbish device which use is too much tough. Playbook neither runs viber, what's app nor skype and all these apps are very common and famous in use. I suggest every body that please don't waste your money because you have to feel repentance after buying it. [email protected]

  • Please tell how can be whatsapp run on bb playbook?

  • Please tell how can be whatsapp run on bb playbook?

  • How to download whatsapp & viber to the blackberry playbook?

  • Great tablet! HDMI output is a great feature. No issues with downloading pdf files, word documents, or excel files. Camera is excellent considering that my playbook is over two years old. Battery life is excellent. I have used this daily for over two years and I refer to battery life in days not hours. I strongly recommend.

  • Love it best tablet.....but sometimes it makes me feel bad.

  • poor investment of resources.not user friendly, poor communication capabalities, limited!!i want my money back so that i can get a samsung

  • um, it's a tablet, not a phone or a phablet.

  • As a PB user.... I'll tell you that's weirdest tablet I've ever seen. BBworld doesn't support you with proper software Its heavy and there is nothing cool you can do with it. I mean once you will start it for the first time and set it up and start to install apps you'll be quite disappointed. No skype, no proper map (come on... Bing sux) and nothing for free. Well I cant wait once somebody will finally crack it and make us able to install a custom ROM. Otherwise I'll give it away.

  • if you have a Wi-fi hotspot u can what u say see bro connet the your tab wi-fi network and download the we chat and game and much more

  • The Playbook has it's advantages, but there is a LONG list of disadvantages... I bought my 32gb this summer for $65 and thought I was getting a great deal, however once trying to use it with programs other tablets can run I was VERY disapointed. I even PAID for the blackberry version of each program I was trying to use and even after paying there were still bugs. The playbook is great if you just want a on the go TV for the kids or for long car rides. I just use my playbook for storage, it's great for all my tv shows and movies, and few select games; but thats pretty much it.

  • since the blackberry playbook doesn't have a sim card slot how can you make or receive calls with it

  • my blackberry playbook doesnt wanna on since three days now,plz u guys should help me.If u plug it in light,it boot its self, but if it on's,its still showing the red battery bar which means that its not charging. Please wat can i do?

  • This is still a good tablet although it's 2 years old. I have the 64GB model, it shoots excellent photo's and videos. It's also got great speakers.

  • I own a blackberry playbook. It looks working cool. But the battery is draining fast.Good to play and study documents.such a nice tablet.

  • i like to give a few opinions ; 1. battery drain - if u start your PB and u did not use wifi but battery quickly drain. actually wifi is running background when u restart. try to on and off wifi or download du battery saver and optimize the system. 2. bridge your PB with BB phone. use PB to surf anywhere and u will notify that u just use only a little amount of BIS data than surfing using BB phone. 3. u want to play heavy games but u do not run any apps and u notify your RAM is running low. there are a few apps running background that u cannot see. download Memory Eater. it will kill anything that running background. That was just only my opinions. sorry if my english is not good enough.

  • Hi. Im new using bb 6228.tab hey 1 doubt here is no using gsm sim card then hw cn we use net..? Hw cn we download wtsapp,apps.extra.games..hw will use net connection in this pls bro help me..thank u...

  • My blackberry world is not opening. Can someone tell me what might be the problem?

  • You can do video calls, but not phone calls. The PlayBook is a very underrated brilliant piece of kit. I love this thing!

  • This tablet does not have SIM card facility so you cannot use it as a phone.

  • there is BBM related calls client, named video chat, so you only can call Video Chat contacts.

  • am i able to make calls via this decive?

  • there is phone call function? please reply anyone bro

  • We all need for free. The most reliable tab ever in quality. It is much better quality then any tab available in market. Am sorry - you should not say it. It is a brand. VERY GOOD TAB.

  • Blackberry playbook I like its connectivity and easiness to work with

  • Why? Is it a bad buy?

  • how much will be the srp for bb playbook 16gb?

  • do not buy

  • BBRY has officially stop supporting PB from May 1, 2014. So no point in buying unsupported device from the makers.

  • The app world is not diverse as ios and playstore. I recommend not buying this.

  • Does blackberry playbook os version has sim card slot? Can i download viber on my blackberry playbook os version?

  • More to question- possible for me to use my BB phone charger to charge my playbook 64gb as the charger slot seems different from my phone.. please advise

  • 1. Can't print 2. Can't save web page to pdf and share file to email. 3. Can't view streaming live video on certain websites.

  • The Playbook can be tethered with a lot of phones. It's not necessarily dependent on a BB smart phone or WiFi for internet. Whatsapp works well, way better on a 7inch and functions while tethered. Majority of issues like browser crashes can be fixed with a re-installation of the Playbook OS. Need more apps? Get an Android EMU from Google, but a lot of Android Apps work on the PB's current player. Nothing wrong with this device. Just needs a bit of effort and it will do what you want.

  • You have no clue on what you are taking about, have you? Whatsapp runs perfectly on playbook. It connected via wifi, you sign imagem with the authentication could you will receive om your mobile, via sms and you are ready to go. As for contacts, no clue on how that is done, I have only a few and really don't remember how they got there. Maybe I had them in my whatsapp account when I used it on the mobile and they got ported when I started using it on the playbook. By the way, if you are such an expert on whatsapp as you saying that I am not saying the truth, how come you don't know you can't use whatsapp in more than one device? You either use it on your mobile or tablet but not on both.

  • had a very bad experience with this tablet, browser always crush on certain website, cannot do anything and takes times 20minutes to restart. need to save file be4 upgrade software and got error when try to synchronize.lack of apps and games, poor battery, but can browse blocked website using BB bridge..hehe

  • I depends on wt do u want 2 download,, please check the browser,, if their is option ,,

  • I depends on wt do u want 2 download,, please check the browser,, if their is option ,,

  • You need to get into the device settings and look for software update. Go in it and click on search for updates. If there is an update online, it will ask you if you want to update your PlayBook. Quite easy.

  • PROS: Been using 2 BlackBerry PlayBook 32GB versions for about 2 years now, and still running strong. The quality of this tablet is bar none very high. This tablet, being now about 3 years old is still rocking hard. Gaming on it is just great, e-mail, typing documents, work, excel, etc., I use it every single day, and cannot do without it for business and play. I just wish BlackBerry would release a newer Tablet, because there quality is superb. CONS: My only complaint is the browsers checkered boxes when loading up web pages with a lot of information.

  • Supeb

  • great tablet. lots of bugs tho

  • It works, genius...! Duh..

  • The playbook is one tablet I really love even if it has no sim slot and an external memory, but my great concern is in its latest upgrade they said the playbook is now a stand alone device but I didn't get anything as such, a stand alone device. I still pair my bb smart phone via bluetooth (blackberry bridge). The new upgrade is just not working.

  • how can i upgaerd new versan on this any have any ideya i am redy to bey this place help me

  • can i use sim crd and memory card ?

  • No sim card or memory card.

  • Hey can we use usb otg on this device

  • Can someone please tell me where on the playbook do I put a simple card and I can't see do download anywhere else but bbworld

  • So android and ios have BBM but not the PlayBook?

  • I own a playbook & also mobile handset with whatapp. I can sideload Android ported whatsapp on my playbook. As per my knowledge whatsapp pick up the contacts from mobile no. In my wi-fi only playbook, in the absence of sim-card, from where whatsapp will pick up my contacts? From mobile no on my sim-card? As I have installed whatsapp on my mobile handset, there will be duplication of contacts on my mobile handset as well as on my playbook. It doesn't make any sense to install whatsapp on playbook as well as mobile handset with the same mobile no. If I enter different mobile no. with no whatsapp installed, from where playbook will pick up the mobile no for contacts? I am always connected to wi-fi on both, playbook as well as mobile.

  • Of course you can! I use it all the time, just need to be connected to anos wifi network!

  • Whatsapp uses mobile no. as the base. Since, this is wi-fi only version, you can't use whatapp on this.

  • Current price £128 gbp really good value browses as well as the ipad. Sound quality excellent and Nirvana music player app improves it. Only downsides 1) mail application is slow to open. 2) could have been an ace satnav if the GPS worked as well as a blackberry phone :(

  • it is very cheap and useful

  • can we use whats app appl in that

  • I think samsung

  • We can use Data card in this one

  • You can use the BBM here if you use th eBlackberry Bridge. So you have to have a Blackberry phone too. :)

  • You can have wifi everywhere you go with mifi.I use Huawei E5657 on 3 network pay as you go with my Black Berry PlayBook.I did a download speed checker today near 4 mb per second.Excellent camera.BB PlayBook is still a usefull bit of kit.I'm interested in getting a big PHONEPAD with quadcore. Why is technology so slow?!?

  • Does it have bbm on it

  • There is a sim version.

  • Two weeks now using this device and I think it's great. I easily access Internet via BlackBerry Bridge. Don't diss it from afar, it's a nice device even for it's age?

  • Stupid.........Hw the hell are we gonna survive without a sim? do we hav a wifi everywere we go......stupidity at its Best......Always something out of line with this Darkberry....just hate it

  • I just luv it @ playbook so exceptional

  • The playbook is a blessing to mankind. The only problem it has is that blackberry did not advertise it much, hence no many people know about it that led to many developers to shun it. This leads to limitations in the area of apps, especially free ones. But overall, it is the most secured tab in the world and I highly recommend for adults and not kids.kids should go for Android with plenty of free games and no real serious business that requires high security.

  • The Playbook big plus is its hdmi. It may have been announced back in 2010 button it is 1080p and hd throughout from sharp cameras, hd stereo mics to hdmi output. Plug into ur hd tv and hifi sound. I watch 1080p utubes. Search also best epic music. Many great documentaries. Takes excellent movies and daylight pictures. Watch on ur hdtv. Google earth does not load but Street view through Maps works and amazing on hdtv. It's big negative is it does not have netflix or Skype. I am not into games. But now has apps I need and with flash most websites work anyway...just like your PC doesn't need an app for everything. Advanced Camera app gives me wonderful timelapse. Another winner is Stereo Tube. If you have good wifi, the built in video Chat plugged into ur hdtv is stunning. Chromecast is finally showing reviewers how important hdtv is to tablet world. I have an Apple Tv box too so I know hdmi PB quality cannot be beaten. The PB is not easy to learn....takes time...and does not have netflix or Skype. Know some geek who has one.

  • How

  • Pls peter cars, i really need your help in this playbook issue, its really giving me headache. Infact its boring without bridging it. Can u pls email me? [email protected] ill be patiently waiting for your response so to let you know my problem. Thanks

  • www.goodereader.com...u will then download DDPB software of which u will install on ur pc ,but for it to work u will need to connect ur PB to ur pc using the main blackberry software..its kinda complicated but im sure u will get it rite..

  • Worst tablet ever, lacks on facebook no applications hangs too much, useless without sim card

  • I like blackberry playbook but i hate it when it comes to app.its very limited and not free. In Facebook i cannot view all the profile pictures of my friends also my profile its sucks..

  • watch the video and do the same to get skype on ur playbook

  • Pros: solid built multi tasking can play almost all video formats (almost) fast built in internet browser nice sound quality (2 stereo speakers) Cons: not compatible with: Skype, Instagram built in facebook & twitter app sucks bigtime not upgradable to BB10 few free games & apps (only few good to download most of them are just too crappy)

  • can i download SKYPE on blackberry playbook and how?

  • The overall is good battery life is good internet browsing but too slow on facebook hangs alot and lack of applications makes it sucks i started to hate it

  • I've tried that site but when I convert the newest version of some app it returns some older version. Does it work for you the same?

  • this is the website where u can convert bar. filez to apk. upload then convert. however the apk. file data shouldn't be enormous like (10 mb) or more

  • pls how do you convert it?

  • Of course you can! I do it all the time... Convert your android apps from .apk file to .bar file and they will run. Some work perfectly, some with limitations and a few will not run at all but pretty much all of them will run.

  • I just bought the BBPB but, i dont have any icons on my desktop except for the browser. Please, how do i get the default apps icons to appear on the screen???

  • You can't use android apps in your Playbook!! Playbook has BlackBerry Tablet OS which is completely different, and used in BlackBerry products!!

  • Hi Guys please help me out here i want to know how to download adroids apps on my playbook.

  • Yes you can use it without connecting to BB, You can use wi-Fi at anytime

  • Di you get help ia also waiting....

  • How do i do that?

  • Just got this tablet and typing in it and it's awesome! I got it refurbished at $113.66 and it is totally worth the money! One thing about it is that it does not have that many apps so if you want to buy it for the apps then you will be disappointed. But for YouTube and media playing and Web surfing it is very much worth it!

  • Better to keep this tablet & use it as music/movie player. You won't get much price even if you sell this in market.

  • Yea, you are right. But actually, there are lots of apps/games that are very very interesting and awesome, we just have to look around. I have tons of games and all of them are for free. I haven't try to buy paid games, coz I don't think I need too. :) loving my BBPB and never gonna be tired of it!

  • most of the games & applications in the blackberry app world are crap. only very few good free games unlike app store which has plenty of free games and even better. I dunno if I should still keep this tablet or sell it. bit by bit I'm losing my interest in it.

  • thats blackberry u must buy android tab to install android up

  • can we download android apps for this BB tab? like instagram, etc.?

  • can it edit word documens and does it have publisher app

  • Is it possible to root the playbook & install Android market in it??????????????????????????? please somebody help me..........

  • You can use the tablet without a Blackberry phone. I'm thinking of buying this refurbished and I definitely think it's worth buying. But yeah you don't need a BB phone to use it. It's good by itself.

  • I want to buy BB PB. Do I also need to buy a blackberry phone? Or I can buy BB PB alone even if I do not own a Blackberry Phone? Waiting for your good answers. Hope you might help me. Answer pls.

  • can i run skype on this bb playbook???

  • would there be anyway to upgrade the os 1.0 to android 2.0? need help pls

  • This tab is one of the best tabs on market.Although it has less apps than Android tabs.It has high quality hardware. Only fools will compare it Against samsung tabs Coz samsung tabs are nothing but Plastic toys.

  • Since 2012. Still kicking arse! Flipboard .bar does not work for OS 2.1. Smge goes with facebook with no pictures

  • Are you trying to write something in English?

  • BBM playbook not for a kids how uses ANDROIDS

  • can I use blackberry messenger on blackberry play book?

  • Both, BB Playbook (PB) & Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT) have it's own merits & demerits. PB is having their own OS 2.1 & GT runs on Android ICS OS. Hardware quality for PB is excellent but apps/games availability is really less. Some of android port apps/games work smoothly on PB. It's rather business device and not gaming/entertainment device. BB OS 10 update for PB will be available later this year. If you have BB handset with you, I will suggest you to go for PB. I have never used GT so I am not aware of it's quality. If you looking for playing games/entertainment, I will suggest you to go for GT. Cost wise both are in similar price range. Choice is yours. Compare both the devices on it's merits/demerits & depending upon your needs/requirements, go for the best option you want.

  • Which one to choose;blackberry playbook or samsung galaxy P3100?

  • google nexus 7 obliterates this

  • Just Google. Not possible to give all the details over here.

  • no 3g network,its slow

  • It's possible, but not all android apps work on the playbook, you just have to be lucky, 8 out of 10 work smooth.

  • wow too nice but not 3g

  • wow wow cute so cute

  • Can I Convert Apk File To Bar File For Playbook Using It Possible......Please tell me.....can I use Android Apps(Apk)in my playbook...

  • This thing is 8 times slower than an sgs2 at loading this web page

  • sideloading works but the interesting apps to sideload will not run on the device.

  • A playbook is a feature in the BBsmartphone or is a something else.

  • Seems you are newly purchased playbook. No doubt, everybody is waiting for OS10, but not sure when it will come. You are complaining about lacks of apps/games compare to android/IOS. Are you thinking that that OS10 will change much about this? Seems you have not aware about sideloading Android games/apps. Some of them are not working on PB. Just google apps/games in which you are interested & sideload the same on your PB with the help of DDPB. I hope this helps you.

  • the good thing about the BB Playbook is its solid built and feels comfortable to hold and not slippery. the stereo speakers has a nice sound. the bad thing about it is it has only limited free apps and games to download for free unlike the app store(apple-ios) and google play store (android) which offers tons of free apps ang games download. this is the reason why only few people decide to buy this tablet. I personally like this tablet but I might sell it soon because of the limited free downloadable. most of the free are rubbish and totally worthless. I admire this tablet's multi-tasking feature. I just hope that Blackberry store gets more free games and apps and gets the BB10 software update because honestly the blackberry world (store) of this tablet totally sucks, lame and boring.

  • Not that experienced with blackberry. All your answers can be answered if you Google. PlayBook has a pin but there is no messenger facility I can see. if you connect a bb phone through bridge to PlayBook you can BBM, email and see phone contacts on PlayBook. If you want to whatsapp you will have to enter a phone number manually into whatsapp. If the number is already subscribed then you will have to pay for whatsapp for 2 devices to use one whatsapp number. That's what I've experienced. Whatsapp is not officially available on PlayBook so you might have to convert the Android application. I've not tested it. There are twitter apps but I don't tweet so I don't know how good they are. There is a fb application but it has a bug. It doesn't show profile pics in the feeds The browser is capable so you can webchat using that. If you want to know the apps available for webchat then Go to blackberry world website and choose device type to view apps

  • I'm so interested in buying this play book but seems like doesn't accept sims so how do I socialaz yet still connected to my network fellaz.can one use BIS in this play book? Bbm me plz for some advices here's my bbm pin:2A796170. Does it bbm, whatsapp, tweet,fb,wechat I want something that can do that but be a blackberry and be a tablet.

  • Good tablet but without apps you will soon get bored. If anyone wants to buy it, first make sure the apps you frequently use are on there. The tablet just works but if you are accustomed to android then you will find a lot of options and settings missing

  • hello good aftunun avery bady very nice and very hot breand this black berry playbook ok

  • This device has 32G not nothing outside bb apps can not be downloaded to it,this is crap

  • I bought 2 playbook here in the UAE. I am planning to bring one to the Philippines as a gift. Just recently one of them refused to turn on and charge. I tried all sorts of methods described in the net but none of them worked. So I brought it back to where I purchased it. They in turn delivered it to the repair center. The center replaced my unit stating that it had a faulty engine. Is this a common occurrence with the playbook? Is there reason to think that my other playbook would have the same problem? Now I am afraid to bring them to the philippines because they are not covered by international warranty.

  • no you do not need a bb handset, internet tethering can also help you to connect to internet, the only thing that you need is a phone which has a bluetooth option in it

  • Software update v2.1.0.1526 Includes the following updates for the W-Fi only PlayBook: Improvements to Gmail® and Yahoo!® account setup services Enhancements to browser performance Audio Boost update to comply with European Standard 'EN 60950-1/A12' Renaming of BlackBerry App World storefront to BlackBerry® World storefront

  • can I use dis device in my car as a GPS navigator,as it is non-cellular. plz tell me...should I go for it or not...I ll b vry thankful !!! waiting fr reply !!!

  • Been using my PB for about 2 months and like it but it is not perfect... Today I got notice of update 2.1.0.1526, anybody knows what this is about? By the why, today I got my BB leather journal case for it and I am a bit disappointed to say the least. Leather? In which universe?

  • So, with the CES release of new BlackBerry gear, we note that PlayBook will -soon- have a BlackBerry OS10 upgrade available... Details? And, if not now, WHEN?

  • yeah u can use internet without wifi but for that u need a bb handset . connect it through bridge software and enjoy

  • Hi all, I just started to use BB and Playbook for a week ... Inside the "Playbook - Blackberry Bridge Message", I can read message, I can download attachments, but then when it state " Tag to open", no matter how I tag where I tag, it just did not open. But I can open all in Blackberry, of course. My Playbook version is 2.1 and it comes with Doc-to-go. Any suggestions are deeply appreciated.

  • This Playbook is wi-fi only version. It works on wi-fi (if available in your zone) without BB phone. No need for BB phone to have PB.

  • How does it function? Do I have to have a blackberry phone paired with the play book before it can work or can it work on its own?

  • There is an APP on bb called BRIDGE..u install it on ur handset,,,u turn ur bluetooth on..on both ur bb handset and ur playbook..u create a link (bridge) and vallaa...u set..free internet (bis)..

  • Playbook is an awesome device/tablet, as a fanatic fan of blackberry and a proud owner of playbook and bold i cannot wait for the launch of the playbook os upgrade to os 10. It's perfect for a place like Port Harcourt City, Nigeria.

  • Using software you will be use a wifi router of your mobile phone can run internet in playbook

  • and what if I have a nokia handset?

  • BB OS 10 will be coming to PB later. But heard somewhere that new update for PB OS 2.1.0.1492 had arrived. Anybody got this update? Can you please share details for the same.

  • how do i transfer files from my bb handset to the playbook?

  • Your best solution is to use the magnetic charging port of the playbook. Buy a rapid travel charger with magnetic connection plug. That is what I an using.

  • Someone might have inserted your charger inverted. In short your mico usb port is now broken. Solution, buy a rapif trael charger with magnetic pogo 2 pin where you can charged your playbook. That is what I am using now. Yon can always transfer files to and from your computer to your playbook thru your wifi network.

  • Wifi only....no sim...

  • Can you delete recordings. On bbpb

  • you can use you blackberry handset to connect to the internet if you have no Wi-Fi service

  • can v install skype in this playbook???

  • I want to buy bb playbook, but i hv a question.. How do i connect to internet on playbook if i have no wifi?

  • i totally agree

  • i totally agree

  • have you tried sideloading apps?i got 32gb playbook and have a lot of hd games installed.. :)

  • See friend I have both galaxy tab 2 and playbook os but I consider tab 2 far better than playbook as playbook needs a blackberry or a wifi to get started and the plus point of tab 2 is that it supports android which is better than playbook os.

  • Yes, BBM is there, but isn't actually installed. Instead, its through BlackBerry Bridge, so pulls it from your phone. Looks loads better too!

  • I am using playbook 64GB From last 6 months and very happy using it. things i like in playbook is a true touch experience i dont have to search for back botton to go back like apple and android. just swipe up from down edge of the screen. why do i need physical buttons to control my tablet dont have to go back from any active app to see battry status, wifi on/off, BT onn/off, screen rotation on/off i can access my 64GB storage on my computer without using usb cable ,i i just use wifi to map storage to my computer and i works like hard disk, even if my kids are playing games on my playbook i can continue to work on my docks, images, audio - video on computer which are stored on playbook. even i dont need to press button to put it in stand by mode, all available on touch just swipe down from up and it is out of stand by mode. playbook a great tablet with great easy to use gestures and solid os stability i am a mobile phone technition also tried ios and android but not as easy to use as BlackBerry Playbook. there are computers to handle serious jobs and PlayBook for a real play.

  • which is better bb playbook or galaxy tab p1000? bb or android?

  • Why is everyone going on about lack of apps, it's a full Internet experience tablet, most apps are 2ndary shortcuts or written because the os can't handle flash etc, it's fast, renders Web pages faster than any other tablets including the ipad, stacks of memory and the apps you do get are ones you need, simply the best.

  • QNX is not good for modern smart phones due to lack of OS functionalities and capabilities as all micro kernels good only to dedicated applications not for platform hosting all kinds of apps.

  • andriod not supported, i have a 32GB and the App world is so limited :-(

  • I have a 64GB playbook that I bought in September. I bought it at Staples and purchased an extended warantee. I hardly use my playbook. But all of a sudden the charger no longer fits properly in the port. I called Staples for help and was told it wasn't their problem and that I needed to contact RIM about this. Here's the problem, they are refusing to tell me any info as to how I go about contacting RIM. I live in Canada and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • blackberry not supported android, so embarrassing.. blackberry OS not supported at many platform and less application.. unexpected results sudden turn off problem plz fix this soon.. 3 star rating from me...

  • Having read all comments previously, I was in 2 minds whether to get Playbook or Kndle Fire. Went for Playbook because of the good price and the 64 gb of storage. What a good choice!!!! This brilliant if you want to use it as it is, and not mess about using google apps etc. I play games on it, take photos and videos; make spreadsheets and word files using docs to go; watch AVI movies converted from DVD's; link it with my Blackberry phone and use it to answer and reply to text messages etc; use it for emailing; pug it into my 42 inch TV, so what a monitor!! It has replaced my pc for surfing the net as it is instantly on, and much quicker to download websites - it has flash player so I can visit sites and watch youtube videos that my 2 sons cant watch on their ipads!! And so much easier to transport than their ipads too!! So stop whinging about comparing ipads to Blackberries - just get one and you will have 3 times the storage for one third of the price of an ipad. It's brilliant - I don't bother with sideloading anything, and it works without crashing, and does all I want to do.

  • Have you Reset your Playbook? Push the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button at the same time. Hold about 3-5 seconds. And your Playbook will restart. Hope it help.

  • Have you Reset your Playbook? Push the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button at the same time. Hold about 3-5 seconds. And your Playbook will restart. Hope it help.

  • why BB are not allowed to put a games like an android games. and it is no flash in camera and the video cam why not use a zoom in/ zoom out?

  • Your device is well within warranty period. Get it replaced through Authorised Dealer in your country.

  • Current playbook OS 2.1 is based on QNX. BB OS 10 is also build on QNX. Do some research before posting a comment. Don't misguide others by posting wrong comments. Check below link for the details.

  • I bought playbook 32GB. It worked really good 2 weaks. But now it doesn't turn on. I searched internet and most of the reviews say the battery is dead and can't charge when its off. Plzzz help me...

  • No, I don't think so. BB 10 is built on totally different platform (BBX).

  • Yes, in the previous comments earlier it had been mentioned many times that BB will get OS10 update.

  • Supposed to be updated to 10

  • Will the playbook , get an software update to blackberry 10 ?

  • please those anyone know if bb playbook reads E-BOOK cos i wanna buy an ebook reader.thanks

  • Can I use modem by OTG cable for using Internet on This Blackberry Playbook Wifi.....

  • The black berry playbook has potential, It comes well speced despite no 3g. I like the video quality, the battery life and the ability to port android apps. The screen is very reponsive and has a decent processor speed, there are many low cost Android clone tablets out on sale but the quality and specification cannot match this device considering RIM has continued to slash the price. a good buy!!

  • It amazes me how stupid and clueless some people are. Why the app was created was because the devices inability to access a full web page because the lack of os browser ability to render a full page "iOS and android". I rarely use apps because the browser on the playbook can access 100% web sites unlike ios and android. Do you use a app on your laptop or desktop to view Facebook? Of course not as the browser can handle the html and so can the playbook. I own a Asus prime and the gf has a ipad, the Asus with Ics the browser loves to shut down and reboot at odd times as for the gf ipad more often she ask me to access web pages with the playbook as her ipad will not load it or parts of it. The playbook is a steal at 149 32gb I use it for work, streaming videos and audio in the car. If you want dollar store piece of crap buy an android and play with all the junk free games filled with malware and ads. If you can't afford a buck or two for a qaulity app maybe you should move back home and live off the parents...

  • Playbook has 2 e-book readers that work perfectly well, Kobo Reader installed and I downloaded Bookreader for Kindle,EPUB,MOBI,AZW,PDB,PRC,FB2,FB,ZIP,TXT, or CHM f0rmats

  • For the price, you getting everything Apple products can do, but more securely but more versatile. Yes there are less apps, but it's growing, literally on a daily basis, especially with BB10 OS on the way. With the HDMI connector to TV, who needs a media player.

  • playbook is a dustbin on which u waste money. no apps available. I bought this only for reading books but no good book reader is available on their website and u can't install third party apps

  • The blackberry playbook is amazing! It has great apps. And very easy to use! Although I would like it if there was more reading apps! And a question how/what do you use to get money for apps or songs???! Over all everything is awesome!

  • Got mine last friday. The Good: Great build quality; Great storage; Nice Screen; Great Sound; Easy to use; Lots of ported apps out on the web; Decent back camera, great front camera; Awesome Multitasking and very good web browser. Not sure about: Battery life, sometimes feels great other a bit bellow what I expected. The bad: No apps at App world; Even the few that exist are mostly paid for; Rubbish facebook app; Can't get a video call or voip program to work (skype, viber etc); No Tunein Radio; No DLNA and no bluetooth file sharing (WTF?!?!?) And finally, but not least... does Blackberry even know the meaning of the word «integration»? When I am on the video/photo gallery I can't upload anything to FB or share it(no option there and you have to open the FB app it self, not even sharing by email) and even when in the contact app (which is good) and I hit the Facebook link, it doesn't launch the FB app but it launches the web browser and that just tells you how bad that app is, how bad integration is and how good the browser is. Not sure if I will wait for BB10 or simply send it back.

  • Can some 1 tell me if this has bbm messenger on it please thanks

  • It officially supports the top 2 OS, which are windows and Mac through the black berry destop Manager. To Use it with Linux Ubuntu is tricky though. l think a quick Google Search should pullit UP

  • Though the Playbook is nice, calling android a child's OS is a huge mistake. All the Features you just mentioned are on android as well. Though when it come to multitasking the Playbook's QNX OS dominates. Nothing comes Close in the mobile space, hell, it could compete very well in the desktop space as well. I'm considering switching from an android phone to BB10 depending on how development goes for BB10 because of how impressed l am with the playbook

  • There's a new update! Available

  • You will not regret buying a playbook, the great small tablet. BB10 will definitely come comes next year january. Even OS 2.1 is even smoother than any other OS in the market because of its QNX backbone. Imagine how BB10 will be,l just cant wait to see january 30 2013.

  • I just bought my playbook ..32gb. I really really really love it,am soooooooooooooooooo addicted to it nw. God help me. Waiting for the os 10...

  • Keep quiet, you do not know what you are saying. What do you mean by you cant sort pictures? If actually you have the powerful playbook, download file browser from the appworld and you will be good to go. Don't forget BB10 is coming to the playbook,so you better keep yours now or you will be looking for a way to steal one next year. That the apps do not good UI is as lame as the writer . Go to your bank, obtain a master card and buy quality apps, you will get value for your money. Have you compared the playbook OS with other tablets OS? Please do if you have not. Playbook's OS is the best in the world, even apple guys acknowledge this fact, dig deep and come to a realization of the truth. Don't follow the media, follow your brain (especially if it is healthy )it will not mislead you like the media

  • Playbook is definitely the king of tablets. My boss has an ipad, but he does envy my playbook whenever we are the same website or whenever i am playing music. Lack of flash and java support is a game spoiler for ipad. When thinking REAL tablet, just forget about anything android, those are for kids who only need tablet for games. Talk of security, talk Html5,java,and adobe flash support. Those of you who spoke of bad experience with playbook are just being biased or you dont know how operate the device or you are not mentally stable enough to use the device. Do you know what QNX is? The best OS in the world by all standard. You will not know what you are missing until browse with ipad and playbook side by side. When playbook gives you real web experience and ipad gives you pixated page, then you will know what you are missing . Think hatters, a berry is a berry,no comparison.

  • blackberry playbook is the king of tablet and it is the only good tablet for gaming, photo shooting, web browsing and undefeatable for skype video chat.

  • Playbook buying is just wastage of money. in this, apps are very poor in terms of user interface. for example, you can hv good picture in day time with camera, but you can't retrive well as no sorting option to see fast or upload to any site if pic are in hundreds. i am user of playbook from last 6 months and wasted almost 4K for buying apps still not comfort. go for other tablet even more costly like samsung or apple.

  • @ femmy west how much did u buy it in nigeria money for 64gb and does it make use of sim card please do reply I need it urgently or any body can respond

  • what is blackberry playbook ssid??

  • what is ssid???

  • It depends on your needs. For business activity, i refer you to playbook. But for fancy and games, maybe you should buy android. Nooffenseplease

  • samsung galaxy tab 2 is better.

  • which is better blackberry playbook or samsung galaxy tab 2

  • Check Slot Ltd. They have a branch at Osogbo. Google it.

My imp datas are lost twice. now can i depend on such gadget any more? suhas bhattacharya, kolkata

  • I actually stay in Nigeria and i've been considering getting this tablet. I might as well say yes to it because of this your review

  • Hi guys does blackberry playbook 7" 64 gb has sim slot

  • Just got my 16gb BlackBerry PlayBook about a week ago. For the past 6 days, I have been testing the functionality of this device-tablet. And this is my personal unbiased experience with the playbook. SETTING THE PLAYBOOK UP FOR FIRST USE In Nigeria, where I reside, wifi is just beginning to take root. Getting a wifi only device is not really a pleasant experience. The playbook set up was done but took determination to succeed with me spending 5hrs due to slow Internet connection. The upgrade to the newest version of the os to os 2.1 was done after much struggle. But after this bitter experience, it was joy all the way. THE PLAYBOOK AND MY TORCH 9860 You have a playbook, get a blackberry smartphone and vice versa. My experience with the amazing programme called blackberry bridge makes both my playbook and my blackberry torch 9860 a delightful companion. Now, I have a truly Internet on the go. The 7 inch display provides an easy handling experience anywhere. THE 7 INCH DISPLAY Crispy and clear is the description for the display. I wouldn't know of any display that is of this quality. Colours are brilliant both for Internet and media use.

  • My husband has a htc desire x android phone and can simply use that as a wifi hotspot and tether it to my playbook so it is great if I am out and nowhere near wifi ;) I just use his android phone as an internet connection.

  • can i use internet in playbook using create wifi hotspot in my mobile phone vivaz pro as a wifi router.....please tell me

  • can i use internet in playbook using create wifi hotspot in my mobile phone vivaz pro.....please tell me

  • The pb is just an awesome blend of style & professionalism together. Enjoying it a lot :)

  • I just ordered for my playbook 64gb and I'm anxious to lay my hands on it...playbook is truely the most underrated tablet out there.I bought mine for 129 pounds compared to 500 pounds for ipad...ipad is overrated.playbook is a multi-tasking beast, something I don't think the ipad can handle.

  • I own both playbook and ipad, hands down the playbook rips the ipad a new one. I've had my pb for a year and use it every day. I might pick up the ipad once or twice a week to watch netflix. Honestly I don't know why I don't sell my ipad because eventhough the pb doesn't do netflix I can find any video content at other sites. It's an awesome device

  • Good grief man, get a grip!

  • Very unfortunate, we have three of them and 3 of my colleagues have at least one each with none of the issues you have described, actually no issues period. Your experience seems very strange.

  • Really? We have three of them ( one for my wife and one for my daughter) and bought the first one when it came out. I travel the world with my PB and have had absolutely no issues .... period. This is one of the most under-rated products ever, thanks to the unwarranted bashing it is also the cheapest. I think once enough people starting really using the device they will realize that the Playbook was not given a fair review. My thinks you protests too much my man.

  • Yes there is !

  • Just ordered one of these, the 64gb one. Really excited about it but will have to wait a lot till I get my hands on one.

  • does 3g dongle is supported on playbook ???????

  • There is no built in Gps in this Device .

  • I pair my playbook with my blackberry tourch i got my musics but could not accept my video is there i way i can access my videos via playbook

  • I still wouldint get it because it has no 3G support as opposed to other tablets, and it has low resolution

  • Just to let you know that I am able to tether my Blackberry Tablet to my Samsung GT-I5500 alowing 2/3G access away from my home wifi. Lots slower of course but useable. I would therefore suggest that only being able to pair with a Blackberry phone is a myth.

  • frikkie i have to disagree with you there. eve though it hasn't got many apps compared to android or even apple. it is still by far the best puschase i have ever made. im not saying it is...but could the problem be your internet as my internet is very poor where i live and has the same affect on all my tablets phones and consoles. i have created so many word documents i dont know what to do with them and used it for presentations pretty much on a daily basis, and always without fail take it everywhere i go as its very portable and always connected to the internet either via hotspots or via my phone, i have a blackberry 9900, iphone 4s, htc sensation xl. the blackberry is the main one that i use, but i have connected it to both my htc and iphone with no problems on the internet. maybe that is the way forward for you?

  • if you have blackberry phone then buy this playbook or if you have wifi hotspot in your mobile then buy this but you can't transfer files through bluetooth with other phones.only blackberry phone can connect to playbook via bluetooth.

  • Can this tablet support usb OTG. Does this device supports Skype nimbuzz. And other I'm apps Should I download out market apps like Android apps post tell I mean going to this for myself Thanks in advance

  • Can someone please help, I can't use my bb playbook with my bb curve 8520 I have tried to download app world again still the same. My BBM won't upgrade to new ones

  • Hi Kola, I don't seem to get that question about the slot made for Naija or Thailand made. Kindly rephrase the question.

  • Had my PB for 6 months and I gotta say I love it worth every penny, now ya can pick one up for $140.00 I definitely buy another...but if ya ain't got the Logitech BT mouse "get it" its an f in must people

  • thank you, ayo am now fully convinced to get it, thank u,, i hav a blackberry curve 3 that blackberry bridge is already instal, but can i buy d slot made 4 naija or the thailand made

  • Some one help me please, how to install skype in my blackberry tablet??..i tried to download bt a msg appeared ''device is not supported''..pl help me ..

  • As a matter of fact Kola, yes, you can open and even work on documents in word, excel and powerpoint formats. The dedicated app for this on the playbook is called 'docs to go.' The BlackBerry Playbook I must confess is the most underrated tablet in the market today, but I have never regretted purchasing one since September 2012 (64GB). Mine is a wifi-only version, but with my BlackBerry smartphone, I don't bother if I'm not in a wifi environment cos I can always bridge the Playbook with my phone. I don't know of any tablet that has this very cool feature not even the more expensive ipad nor Samsung galaxy tab or note. If you don't have a BB phone, not to worry cos you could always tether any smartphone with the Playbook as long as the phone has a bluetooth connectivity and an active data plan. This gets you on the internet.

  • Yes we can

  • does 3g dongle is supported on pb?

  • can someone open microsoft word/excel here?

  • This is one of the worst devices EVER! Fails 9/10 times when updating software, its slower than an old nokia 3310, the wifi reception on it is VERY poor even if i sit right next to the router, i WON'T ever recomment this to any one. This one is a money waister!

  • Does da pb hv bbm?

  • try incredible connection....they might have it.

  • Can we do BBM on playbook?

  • infact the machine is ok. but the absence of SIM slot has become a problem because in my country like Ghana in Africa, is not everywhere u can have the wireless network for internet services unless u get a router which is expensive.for quality issue is 100%. so consider. thank you.

  • BlackBerry Bridge works fine btw blackberry playbook and blackberry cell but still missing all IM works on blackberry playbook

  • Sanjay... I fully agree wid u.... I should have a sim slot...

  • android stills the best! after using it a lot with ipad and galaxy tab 7.7 i found how much android is the best! And also mind that without android no apps for blackberry playbook! so all say thanks to android for that not blackberry which stolen android apps SDK!

  • Guys plz reply...can we connect PB to other mobile WiFi rather than blackberry mobile...can we connect pendrive or 3g dongle directly to the PB...is it good for gamming,videos,etc....can we directly download songs, videos, games, movies through bit torrents and other movie sites...is direct download to PB through mobile WiFi is possible or not....is any software problem in PB...plz ans my queries coz I'm thinking to buy it....plz guys reply me...on my mail [email protected] reply me guys I'm waiting for ur reply.... Coz my lumnia 710 doesn't support the above facilities...even Bluetooth and hotspot doesn't work in my lumnia....so guys plz reply me is Bluetooth pairing with othe mobiles rather than blackberry mobiles...can we transfer files over Bluetooth...plz guys reply me as I'm planning to buy the playbook...I'm eagerly waiting for your reply....

  • Cannot agree more with you, the PlayBook is truly the best tablet out there yet not many people appreciate true innovation.

  • Guys were will I find a mini keyboard for my PlayBook in South Africa?

  • Connecting your PlayBook to your BB smartphone (bridging) uses your BIS and has no impact on your airtime. It's such a cool feature.

  • So I bought my Playbook 32gb last week at Staples. Being Canadian I want to see RIM get back on track. Took it home and after 2 days of attempting to get past the setup screen I returned the product to Staples. The guy there confirmed it was a dud and replaced it. I took the second one home and this time I was prompted to update the software. I was able to download the update but it would not install. I made 10 further attemps over the next day and no luck. I returned the second playbook for a complete refund. I went to another store and bought a 7 inch Samsung tablet. Setup time was about 5 minutes and it works great. The Samsung boots up in about 30 seconds as opposed the the 5 minute boot time of the Playbook. I rest my case but if RIM survives it will never get any business from me..EVER.

  • Yes,Nokia n97.tata docomo 69 plan

  • if you want skype or tango just search it into google coz a website is bound to have the bar file or another file that will allow you to use your skype or tango acount with it. hope this helps.

  • if you connect this device to your BB phone, does it use your BIS or would you need a data plan?

  • I updated mine here in ksa but there is no video chat, someone please help

  • I received my 64GB Playbook last Friday and have been using it nonstop since then. I mostly use it for music and reading PDFs. I already have a phone that has my contacts but once I p/u a BB phone to replace the android that I just don't like, I will use the BB bridge between the PB and the BB. I love the native Flash and my hub noticed how the movies do not interrupt and buffer unlike other tablets. I appreciate the processor speed since I also use Word and Excel (also included in this beauty), read a lot of books online and might also have two other programs working. No delays. Awesome. The fact that you can Bluetooth files to it is awesome! The transfer of files is flawless, as if I plugged in a flash drive and just drag and drop. The size is perfect to use my hands to swipe and type. I wouldn't want the larger 10"; in fact I'd bought a Viewsonic 10" and used it for a few months and it was too big, too much like a laptop so I got rid of it. The quality and feel of the Playbook is top notch. It isn't too light to appear cheap or too heavy to be clunky. I don't use many apps (no, not even Skype) so I don't care of Playbook has them. Plus I heard they have opened up to allowing Android apps on BB. All in all this tablet gives me exactly what I wanted and I am 100% happy.

  • sim slot should be there.no use of tab without sim slot.(completely depend on wi fi network or other blacberry device to connect internet)

  • Hi.Well After the receipt of mini keyboard My efficiency is increased twice PLUS it gives a style too.Probably I am among the first few who got it India. After a heavy search I digged it on best buy. If you love your playbook I will say it is a must have accessory.

  • Good quality, but lack of critical apps that I have been using on android make it useless to me. Have had for over 1 yr. Will now put it in closet and get a samsung or nexus. Now understand why their businee model is falling apart.

  • RIM already have released 4G LTE with better specifications. What more specifications you are looking for? All PB will get BB OS 10 for which everybody is waiting.

  • Seems you are only looking for Skype. Don't blame PB or BB if Skype don't have support them. Better you go for some cheap Android tablet. PB is for professionals.

  • with due respects to the legendary BB phones; though look wise the play book swatisfies everybody- miserably fails in all the aspects in comparision to android powered devcices; you can not install any of the essential apps w r t business ( android suppors ) neither the app store has business apps not it satisfies the so called fancy apps with a heavy heart im migrating from BB to android after using BB devices for the past 9 years. it is suggested to BB to have a tie up with Google to be in busineess or do something else. this is the order of the day

  • Do not buy the blackberry. PlayBook because it doesn't has any Apps for example Skype there isn't in the appstore which means it's not possible to install apk file format applications.

  • Please who has an idea when Blackberry will come up with a new Playbook; with new updates and better specs?

  • I like Samsung Galaxy Tab/Note. But BlackBerry PlayBook is also interesting with BlackBerry Services. Two ways to connect BlackBerry PlayBook. You can connect your BlackBerry mobile with BlackBerry PlayBook and get all services and as well with wifi connection also. If the price of BlackBerry PlayBook is much cheaper than go for it otherwise Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3110

  • plz reply me what i have should to buy this or galaxy tab 2 7.0 P3110 ??

  • Yes, you can use the BBM when you have your BB phone connected to the playbook thereby setting up the blackberry bridge. Aside using the BBM, with the latest update of 2.1.0.1032, you can send and receive text messages on your PlayBook.

  • And yes, I finally took delivery of my Playbook last week. I must confess it's lived up to its billing. I've been so addicted to it ever since. In fact, my wife is scared of my new better half. The blackberry bridge has come in so handy when I find myself where I have no access to a wifi network. With my BlackBerry phone, I don't miss a thing. It should be pointed out that one doesn't necessarily need a BB phone to connect the PlayBook to the Internet. As long as you have a phone that has bluetooth connectivity and a data plan running, you're good to go. In the meantime, my new love story continues.

  • can i ping with my blackberry play if yes pls how, pls i need help. [email protected]

  • I assumed that you are from India. You had mentioned that you have paired the playbook with BB mini keyboard. Please advise where I can get BB mini keyboard? I am searching for the same since long time for my PB. If you have original BB keyboard or any other android keyboard which is compatible with PB? Please guide.

  • There might be other devices with more to offer but the playbook along with blackberry bridge makes this a solid device.really happy with mine

  • Hi friends,I have recently brought playook and would like to mention I am well satisfied with the device.I have paired the playbook with BB mini keyboard and BB curve 9320 3G vodafone carrier.I have wi fi at my works and home and when in travel I tether playbook with my phone 3G and noteworthy to mention I get amazing internet speed. Its a great organizer,my all needs like BBM,mails,FB,twitter, maills, calender, video conferences, linkedin, ebay, banking, and ebooks are satisfied with this.it has got amazing graphics experience-if you are gamer then this device is 'you should have'.

  • What's going on here... I've updated my OS to 2.1.0.1032 and the cameras and video not working. How am I going to use the camera and video when it is not working... when it was running on 2.0 everything seems to be fine... but now... When is the fix. Can anyone help me on this. I've tried wipe and still doesn't work...

  • I've had my PlayBook for over a week now and I initially went into buyers remorse. You need a Ph.d just to do the initial setup. But now I'm getting the hang of it I'm loving it. It's still to heavy.

  • If ur PB is under warranty, get this done through Service Center free of cost within half an hour. Only back-up your data prior to update.

  • It's a handy toy, but the only major flop is that you have to wifi it during initial setup before you can even play with the Playbook. So don't do a security swipe unless you absolutely have to.

  • Re having phone app/function on playbook: Yes! Why not?! I am surprised that neither Apple nor BB have make their tablets also phones. Consolidation is evolution. It offers "choice" and convenience. I would still buy a bb phone AND a playbook as I have different requirements at different times of my day as executive.

  • No doubt the deviceis having a high end hardware.... What actually lacking is the appropriate apps. Though there are many apps but a few are there for playbook... And the one which is there is very costly. As far as sideloading is concerned converting android app to blackberry app is not that easy... Overall 5/10

  • Honestly, the high prices Apple products bear has been the major turn off for me over the years. I expect my own 64GB Playbook to be delivered from the UK sometime this week and boy, I'm surely gonna put that baby to work.

  • Really interested in what u said re phone app for PlayBook. I need a tablet to type press releases at conferences and surf net etc... but I don't want to carry another mobile also. My co all BB, not Apple FYI! So would this work as a 'work' fon pls?

  • On my fifth attempt at installing PB update 2.1 I am slightly disillusioned that it is not as slick as Apple's updates. OTA updates failed (2 times) so I resorted the BB Desktop Manager but this method has failed a couple of times too and I have resorted to by baby sitting the installation watching it like a hawk and voila it's failed again!! Any interruption with something simple like the screen sleeping makes the installation fail saying it was been interrupted!! I highly rate PB as a device but this update has been frought with difficulty and its beginning to try my patience not with starting Gigs of data download for nothing as it fails? Other updates have been successful so I'm disappointed this one has been so tetchy. Any ideas?

  • I just traded a Nexus 7 for a 64 GB Playbook. I was apprehensive at first, as the Nexus 7 is a Quad Core, Jellybean-running beast, but maxed out at 16GB. I wanted something I could put a ton of movies, shows and music on, and still have room left over for apps. Once the trade was made, I was NOT DISSAPOINTED! The playbook does everything that I need, and a large chunk of the apps I used on Android, I was able to get running through the Android "player" via side-load (which is NOT as difficult as most people make it out to be). For anyone looking for a useful tablet, versus the "next big thing", or "flashy, show off device", this is the device for you. Just do a Google, Bing, or whatever search engine you use, search, and you'll see that the potential of a Playbook, even after being on the market for well over a year, still seems to outweigh that of the Android and iPad, from a stability perspective.

  • If you want to make a phone call with your playbook there is an app called comwave ephone. It's free in the app world works great! The only thing is when you set up account they ask you to choose a city and okc wasn't listed. I had to choose dallas tex. And they gave me a dallas phone number. But it still works to make any calls across the us free

  • can i use skype video call with this tablet on wifi?

  • RIM has finally released BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1.0.1032. This update, which is available for the Wi-Fi only BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, offers a range of new capabilities and security features for consumers, enterprises and developers. With PlayBook OS 2.1, customers will now have the ability to: Secure all data on the tablet; the enterprise-grade encryption can now be extended to secure personal data stored on the device Text via SMS using the new version of BlackBerry Bridge (version 2.1) customers can send a text from their PlayBook through their BlackBerry smartphone; the new version of Bridge is available on BlackBerry App World Use the Messages, Contacts and Calendar apps in Portrait mode; Print documents from a PC to a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet using the Print To Go app even if the PC and tablet are connected to different networks; Additionally, PlayBook OS 2.1 offers new features that simplify the deployment of the tablets in the enterprise with BlackBerry Mobile Fusion. These include over-the-air enrollment to the BlackBerry Mobile Fusion server, support for ActiveSync certificate-based authentication, and additional IT Policy controls For developers (and consumers), the InApp Payment system now extends to Android applications. The update is now available as a free over-the-air download. Customers will automatically get a notification of the update on their PlayBook, or they can tap the gear icon (in top right corner) and check for the new version under Software Updates.

  • Alright folks, I've had this tablet for some time now even through two OS updates. The real game changer was when the 2.0 release was pushed to market adding all of the missing elements that made the PlayBook "complete" if you didn't carry a BlackBerry smartphone. The original model which I own is now feeling a bit long in the tooth but still remains to be my favorite PIM device. It does have some interesting amount of horsepower under the hood for such a small tablet. Media features were well thought out when you notice the forward facing stereo speakers. That's only half of it, recording video with the stereo microphones with full 1080p video is amazing and I have been rather impressed. There are a couple of issues which do bother me despite the increased backing of this platform and it's branding. The PlayBook goes largely ignored due to it mainly being a BlackBerry product alone with RIM taking a beating in PR and more people wanting the iPad or other device mainly because of the BlackBerry brand itself. It's a beast under the hood as said before and newer models with faster processors and LTE network connectivity. The major problem remains with app support. It has gotten better in the last six months or so but still no official Twitter, Facebook, Skype, Google Maps, and many other staples that the PlayBook is sorely missing. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel if RIM makes BlackBerry 10 really shine. For basic browsing on the web, the PlayBook is great with full HTML 5 support and Flash as well. A large 64GB model can be found rather cheaply in comparison to other tablets in the 7" class and up. It's no iPad, but if simple web browsing and email is your cup of tea, you have a real bargain here with great build quality and a nice user experience.

  • Can i use modem for internat connection in blackberry playbook..

  • its really affordable price meets great performance. For add information, its works internet browser via wifi and bluetooth tethering, you can use smart phone with remote sim access bluetooth profile as internet router. I use nokia e90 as bluetooth router and its work well.

  • poor camera with errors after upgrade, poor quality charger...with a bb phone its useless with a wifi...

  • Please run away from this piece of bullshit..it will ask you for an upgrade and after, the camera will display an error message that cant be corrected. The charger will definately go bad...and you wont get a good replacement charger for it..Blackberry appears not to have a solution to this camera issue..i have checked lots of sites...even did a security wipe...no solution...am even looking for someone to buy it for half the price, i cant one...pls runaway for your life...

  • I just got a PlayBook like last week, it's amazing. Great build and everything. Only downside is the lack of apps and games compared to Android and iOS.

  • I'm planning to buy a playbook, however after blackbery slashed its price I'm a little bit worried about the quality of recently made playbooks.can some of the recent buyers tell me about the quality of camera, screen, build etc..should I go with nexus 7 or playbook????

  • You cannot bay anything better for £129 64 gb. • You can connect via bluetooth [Internet tethering] only if you can pair your playbook with your phone. My Samsung wave 525 is not pairing with playbook while Samsung chat 527,Samsung y duos,Samsung y etc is getting paired

  • no 3G or edge...no wonder its being sold at usd$200(16gb model)...

  • i bought a playbook last weet, uptill now iam not able to connect to my mobile "motorola defy" . please help me dat how to connect playbook to mobile bluetooth.

  • Playbook has many, many problems. - Often crashes - Takes FOREVER to turn off from completely underpowered state (battery died) - Doesn't always charge if it's plugged in. (it must be turned on or something) - Very small screen - Very bad app selection - Also, the android compatibility was almost a year later than what was announced Overall: horrible product, even when bought on sale for $200.

  • Could I use usb in bb playbook....

  • No skype, it has naive calling app but it can only call others BB users

  • Agreed, but as the update is major (OS 2.0) & huge in size, it is obvious to take more time. Instead of doing it manually at home or office, it is better to take the PB at Authorised Service Ceter. You will get the updated PB returned same day within 2-3 hours. And yes, it's free of cost.

  • Without wifi at the initial setup the device won't come on and when you do connect to a wifi network, it takes a long time to update because the update is sometimes over 3oomb, I recommend buying an apple device, blackberry stinks and its to much drama. Can't wait for blackberry to close its doors and keep it close.

  • Dear plz tell me.can i use internet(both 2G and 3G) in blackberry playbook by connecting it to nokia e63 via bluetooth ?....plzzzz telll meeee..

  • does the bb playbook can make a video call from skype

  • thank u ... i actually collecting info and advices for me to decide on it

  • Hello, first set up from new, you need wi-fi to connect to, and up date is usually automatic, must have minimum 20% battery and be plugged into mains, if screen freezes up press power button and press restart, up date is about 518 Mb it is major improvement, as after update you have e mail with out blackberry phone and other improvments I bought one at launch 16GB and waited for 2.0 update worth it, as playbook can be used as stand alone tablet, with any phone wi-fi hotspot, an underrated tablet and just bought 32GB playbook for £149 too good to miss, selling out fast. Hope this helps.

  • i bought a playbook 2weeks back and since then i've been unable to use it.... i experienced an initial setup problem. after switching it on for the first time, it asked me to perform a mandatory update to OS2 before i'll be able to use it at all. dont know maybe anyone has experience a similar issue. will like to know if there's any solution to this.

  • I can't agree with you more!! Some ppl neating it down for no reasons!! Multi tasking and overall experience and control on app, UEX everything awesome!! Own Ipad2, Galaxy tab 2 as well for for testing etc. Playbook is the best till date!!

  • You can most certainly connect that way. I use my playbook very regularly by connecting with Nokia phone for internet. It is just perfect. No Android Or Ipad can give you professional grade experience that this device gives. Very rich user experience. Multitasking is the name of the game.

  • Please note that Playbook gives a very rich user experience. Its UI is awesome. Multitasking is real. It is a real business grade tablet. Also, it can connect to ANY bluetooth (not necessarily blacbberry phone) and you can tether to connect as long as your phone allows.

  • BIS stands for Blackberry Internet Services.

  • @ CJLucis: for the applications or games? will there be a problem about it if ever i'm not connected to the BIS? the BIS is for the blackberry services right?

  • There shouldn't be any problems. Just the warranty among things. You could get complete BIS for P600 a month from Globe.

  • It can only be connected using Blackberry Bridge (BT). If you have BIS, it can be tethered so the Playbook can connect to the network.

  • if i buy a blackberry playbook from the USA and will use it in the Philippines, will i have any problem with the applications or the Blackberry services? would appreciate your recommendations... thanks..

  • plz anyone tell me.........can playbook connected via bluetooth to nokia's handset for making internet connection ?

  • plz anyone tell me........ can bb playbook connect via bluetooth to nokia's handset for make internet connection..........plz help me guys

  • 1) BB Playbok is very nice hardware. This is just a fact. 2) The another fact is fast OS. Very smooth, easy to use, intuitive. 3) Third and the most important but very sad fact is: Bluetooth - unable to file transfer between other bluetooth devices. /except BB devices/ USB connection - unability to use external devices, external Flash drive , unable to use OTG cable, not even a option to read microSD cards. WiFi - did anyone succeed with the connection to other devices like host-to-host ? Without WiFi router is this device useless. Videochat - no Skype or any other reliable video chat except native app which works only between PB devices. Dont make me laugh with Reel and similar Flash based apps. VOIP - no VOIP ! anything else I could close an eye on. But those are most important things why i want to have portable device. Please, any RIM developer if you read this, consider it. Now, on the market comes Samsung Tab 2 7 inch, with similar price, definitely I will take a look.

  • R u sure abt that bro ??? Any reffrence link u have ??? If wht u r saying is true then that will be awesomeeeee !!! Bb will defeat rest of the tab crop !!! \m/ BB \m/

  • No. There isnt any 3G BB PB until now but its development is in the pipeline.

  • @Musie- Once it gets incorporated wid d much awaited BB10, it will get loads of apps. Developments wid shype nd odr major apps are on d way. Can b xpectd by the year end. Thanks.

  • BB PB will get BB10 update after the release of BB10 platform. So skype and netfix and many other apps will be there soon.

  • heyy, i need to ask you something, i'm gona buy a playbook, but tha only determining factor atm is whether skype orr other video chat works with tha playbook. i saw alot of reviews saying on video calls n stuff. would really appreciate your reply on the skype and oovoo matter :)

  • did u say that i can use skype on tha play book with imo? what is imo and how do i go about doing this?

  • No video calling at the moment is unavailable..A further disappoint is that u can't connect hdd to playbook directly due to absence of USB OTG

  • No skype at the moment :(

  • Thanks for the info regarding goodereader. I installed a couple of the apps like skype and oovoo in the hope I could finally use video calling, but the video calling wont work due to theway the emulation works. oovoo has the video calling option greyed out. So at the moment still no video calling :(

  • hi all.. i hated bb os ...but after i saw bb playbook ui and its interface i loved it...so i decided to buy 64gb bb playbook...as it is year old ... updated to os2.0 and has all the features...biggest drawback was app world ...but i got an option for that...i can download android apps from goodereader.com apps and install it in bb...follow the steps mentioned in the website and u gotta all....bb os with android apps ...its awesome...sound quality is mind blowing...multitaskin is awesome...and 7"is perfect!!!i really dont get it why people r buying android tablets!!bb is professional and thats what i wanted!!i have galaxy note..its also awesome....one thing i noticed is wifi strength is xcellent in playbook ...compared to my note!!pls do buy this if anyone need tablet...ipad has xtreme limitations...thanks!!

  • Yes BB bridge is working well with 8520.

  • is there 3g enabled in playbook??? pls reply asap...!!!!

  • Check this out: - -

  • Can i connect this tablet with extarnal HDD? And olso can i make video skype calls?

  • Can i use the Playbook as an e-reader?

  • @ravi...it's problem of skype apps for blackberry and we have found that it support all sites and apps...If an apps will not work,it's d fault of d apps nt d device and not here also....!!

  • presently i am on a 2 g network can the bp be bridged with 8520 and go online

  • can i use an 8520 to bridge a bp

  • No.

  • no..

  • You cannot use any dongle or thumb drive(unless dingled) However you can connect it with wifi. If you have gprs/3g enable device you can connect it through bluetooth.

  • does it support skype vedio call?

  • can this playbook allows windows 7 and microsoft 2010 os be install?

  • The playbook is a really good buy at its price. After the new OS came out I really cant think of a reason NOT to buy it at that price. Apps are quite plenty in number and should suffice for the average user. ALL apps HD in particular.

  • Yes it does on the go. And some other powerful text and presentation editer apps on appworld. :)

  • There is gtalk, msn on appworld and you can use skype through imo. It even has a free texting app and comwave ephone app.

  • buy It, If you are not at all looking for Text and Video chatting, Rest all it Beats all tablets. Why you want to Buy: 1: Many Free HD Games 2: You Tube works very well 3: Browsing experience is great and Fast. 4: Great Battery Back Up 5: HDMI Support so that you can Connect your TV with HDMI Cable and Works more than your expectations. 6: Playing Video's is excellent. Why not to Buy: 1: No Yahoo Messenger Support 2: No Gtalk, No MSN, No Skype, 3: No Blackberry Messenger to chat with BB Phones unless you have BB Phone and it should be bridged.

  • There are Many Free HD Games available like Asphalt 6, Need for Speed Shift, etc they are really great games on Playbook, also other paid games has just half doller price. If you are HD Game Addicted Person go for Play Book you will get N Number of Games, Android fails in this.

  • I've had my Playbook for 5 months now and I have to say it's kind of a disappointment. It doesnt have a good cross-platform video chat app, calendar fails to sync, email app is laggy, browser does not have full functionality as you would have on an android tablet. At this point I want to sell it and try to get something better that works as it should.

  • does it support the usb thethering?????

  • does it supporrt usb dongles for internet

  • PlayBook is really amazing. Build quality is excellent. Great thing is that you can use VPN. I am using Superb VPN BlackBerry VPN Services and it is working great. I can bypass all restrictions.

  • Ur coment shows....u have no idea about playbook at all !! Dnt u know anything about converting an android apps in to bar files to get it working over bb pb ??? M sure u dont !!! M using most of my android games which i used to play on my galaxy s2...i have no issues playing them on my playbook. I agree not each n every android will work on pb once converted but most of them are working !!! M using most of my favourite photo editors from android on my pb now :) If u feel android suits u....then u shd hve went with it before buyin playbook.but just coz of ur lack of knowledge dont blame playbook for that.this aint no piece of junk for sure mate !!! And this is coming from hardcore android fan my friend....m no bb fanboy !!! :)

  • hey any one tell. me that all of blackberry playbook games needs money to download.

  • This is supposed to have one of the best browsers around, yet I find flash has tremendous amounts of issues and the browser constantly crashes on me. The app world is growing but most of the apps are paid apps and they don't extend the functionality of the device that much. The only good thing it has going for it right now are games and even then there aren't that many. This device can accel with the right software, but awesome it stands I'd rather have gotten the quad core android tabs coming out for $200 which is less than I paid for this piece of junk.

  • nope it does not support USB - that's the downer on it unless you are in a wifi zone you are cooked. you can't even plug in a 3g Dongle. Everything else is fine on this device except for the connectivity issue and the fact that Windows recognises it as a network drive and not a USB device. Also you have very very limited apps and you have to pay for everything.

  • what does error 2000 during software update for playbook signifies?

  • does it support usb on the go

  • my playbook doesnt finish video on youtube.doesnt play video.plays it halfway n stops

  • There is yahoo massanger app for Playbook in app world for free..

  • I Own Blackberry Play Book, For Internet Browsing Playing HD Games and Watching Videos HD, this play book works great. But when comes with Chat or Email Communication or Video ccall features same sucks lot. Front camera you will not find any apps which is using it. so its totally waste as of now when your other person don't have Playbook to call video chat. No Skype, No Yahoo MEssenger no Gtalk no MSN messenger. Blackberry is not allowing develop any apps which allow to use Video camera for chatting. as it wants only Playbook to Playbook video chat available. Such a Worst Condition. Loving BBM Becuase of its unique features swipe options and HD Games I hate becuase it doesn't allow you to connect your friends family. Seriously PlayBook is going down becuase of not having Messenger options 93rd party) Else its good for rest all

  • Hi guys..I just wanted to know if I can make a call with bb pb ? Tnx

  • does it have like microsoft office specially for word and powerpoint, for students????

  • yes..afcos...firstly u erase ur playbook and start a new one setting from wi-fi connection and its automatically download 2.0 version

  • Playbook update is comparatively big it is around 520MB and only come through WIFI. You need a WIFI source either cyber cafe or MTN MIFI to do the update. I did mine using D LINK wireless router with a modem access. the beauty is that you can continue download incase you have need to go elsewhere. Wish you luck

  • Owned mine for 3 months and the negative feedback I am reading on line are very true and then some. Poor support to deal with the many issues. Stay away.

  • Owned mine for 3 months and the negative feedback I am reading on line are very true and then some. Poor support to deal with the many issues. Stay away.

  • LOL...2million times

  • Yes you can go to settings select "software update" click check for update and you should be able to download and install over the air

  • gyzz .... can we upgrade a bb playbook from version os 1 to os 2.0 ??

  • hii gyzz i need a little help ..... i just wanted to know if i can upgrade a bb playbook from os 1 to os 2.0 ??? thanks in advance

  • dis sucksss i-phone is awesome and blacberry porche is sexxy \

  • Let's try the new iPad then speak about this one, after we get a reference to compare what we admire.

  • thank u ali

  • Play book is good option. If you r not fond of BBM services and applications

  • i am currently using a playbook and its awesome. Samsung tab stands nowhere. Better screen resolution, sound, camera. And, the best part, u'll get to run two operating softwares. Bbos along with android. I've all the android apps like whatsapp, skype and other android app nd games without any configuration change. I just say, go for it, if u want one. I have got my hands on galaxy tab, hcl me, bb pb and undoubtedly nd confidently, i rate playbook, the best. The only issue is you dont have a sim slot. And you will have to use the net by tethering (connecting it to any phone wid bluetooth), bb bridge(connecting to a bb phone) or wifi. So, no major issue here also.

  • does it support 3g dongle? for internet

  • there's no service center yet in the philippines for BB..ive got a problem with my playbook

  • galaxy tab

  • hey guys can u say bb pbis nice i want to buy it pls pls reply

  • somebody pls tell me.... which one is gud.. playbook or galaxy tab

  • Blackberry as of the pricing at the moment is the best priced-tab in the market. Clear & crisp display, good camera for stills and HD video recording. Web browsing is fast and great display, office software is very handy and useful. Apps and games that are available are the best. A few dozen of quality apps and games is way better than tons of craps! I am okay with games and apps that I have. Playbook might not compete well with Galaxy Tab and Iphone, but its probably better than all the rest. I saw an Android Tab from no name company sells 280 USD, with specs that is infrior than playbook.

  • hw's da battery back up guys??

  • Pros ; Fast browser, clear display, multi tasking, Cons ; Limited app support, no skype, no video calls, limited games, need to convert android apps to .iba format to install on this bb playbook. Skype annouced that it will not support bb pb. Thats why its on bargain and not reproduced.. Recommendation: Buy an Ipad or Android tab!! When it comes software support and loads of new apps and games. Only android and ios are the stable ones.

  • Are you crazy? The minimum price for 16 GB playbook in market is around 14K. Please check if they are really offering playbook @ just 6K. Micromax fun book is available around 6.5K. It seems you are talking about Micromax fun book & not BB playbook.

  • I purchased BB playbook two months back & am very much satisfied with the overall performance. I need keyboard case for BB playbook. Please let me know where can I get the same in Mumbai? (RIM original or BB compatible). On BB website US, it is showing out of stock. Not sure, if at all it ever came to India.

  • Its been one month with my playbook.i purchased it from official outlet of BlqckBerry(hira-panna,haji ali) Even i was searching for a budget tab and i did have an option of galaxy tab 7 and this playbook. And same as u...most of the shopkeepers tried to convince me to buy galaxy tab rather than playbook...simply because of the price diffrence, nothing else !!! But personally i didnt like the honeycomb perfomance at all,so i went with the playbook and trust me i have no regrets at all !!! It saves me quite some bucks too ;) Only disspointing part is its camera, other than that i am very happy with my choice, best of luck. :)

  • The Blackberry Playbook is great when browsing websites, doing office works (word, excel), taking photos and videos with good lighting... Although there are limited games (need for speed, blood and glory, backbreaker 2), they run quite well and virtually no crashes.. it might take some time of getting used to but if you got the hang of it, the Playbook is one of the best tablet pc to date.. and let's wait for the Blackberry 10 OS.... ohhh boy! =))

  • i am thinking to buy blackberry play book....is it a worth buying product ?? i went to mobile store to check but manager said we sold playbook in 6000 rs as a sale becoz company has stopped its production due to bad quality product and those ppl was convincing me for galaxy tab which was fuck all....plz let me know where is the best store in mumbai to buy and also where can i get a demo

  • no the BB PB doesn't charge via USB while connected to the PC, be patient charge it up and download the update again it's worth it

  • BB Playbook can run Android apps but only those which are converted to Playbook platform. Some of the converted apps can be found in the AppsWorld and can be directly downloaded and installed to Playbook. The other way is to install an app to Playbook as a sideload. Sideloading is uploading an app to your device using another computer and specific program.

  • this black berry playbook is small and compact we can install apps from android market but it does not have sim card slot but we can make calls from yahoo nimbuzz and fring the device is so nice and very compact i do have playbook and my ipad i mostly enjoy on my device its so cheap and very budgetless tab thanku

  • it does not make a call.

  • can i make call.....does it have a sim card slot....

  • I just want 2 know dat whether blackberry playbook support apps of android or not. And if yes then, can i directly download d apps nd games from android market or not using playbook.

  • Done with the update !!! Typing this on my playbook...so far the best tab pc in its price range !!! Loving it so much,no regr8 buying it...worth every penny :)

  • can i use any headphones on it ?

  • why do u say so... any reason in particular??

  • gooodnesss meeee !!! superimly pissed by its bloody SW update !!! x-( tried it 3 times and finally it was downloaded and compl8d third time but my book still refusing to show me its desktop :'( !!! but once i conect it to wall charger it has again showed all the steps of BB ID n blaa blaa blaa...its showing me now battery is low and the update will resume after battery will be above 20% !!! does that mean i will have to download the whole update again !!!! :O :'( :'( x-/ ??????? i was updating it through PC via usb & BB desktop mangr...doesnt that supposed to charge the book while its updating ??? Where the hell this 'battery low' comes in to picture in my situation !!!! :( any ansswers BB boys ??? TIA :)

  • i do recommend not to buy it!!

  • awesome!

  • can anyone help me get a blackberry tablet battery. i urgently need one. please

  • It's an awesome piece of gadget not with its current pricing its very good value for money

  • ithink that

  • why don't you guys add GSM feature on this, (blackberry playbook) if have umm willing to buy

  • For the price its a great piece of kit. £250 for 64Gb is very attractive. In terms of apps, I used Good E Reader to get Android apps that have been converted for use on the Playbook. Great definition from display, great speed, good browser and finally some decent apps is making this a good alternative to the rather cumbersome (to me) iPad at half the price of the iPad.

  • blackberry application is very limited, if you are pleased with the software / application, better you choose tablet with android system. Blackberry tablet is more suitable for women.

  • yes u can by using any data card..

  • Can i use internet on d plybuk via data cards??plzz rply.....

  • can anyone tell me which version of os does it have?? plz answer....

  • Update: Still no Arabic Support for Playbook, now officially its been a whole year of promises of updates but nothing happen all the users in Middle East are suffering due to this issue and in the end some defective executive make statements says I dont know why the sales of BB products are not doing so well well this is one of them not to mention high priced useless apps after that they say U can install Android apps 1) First not all apps are comparable to PB. 2) Why would I buy PB in the first I can get any Android tablet end of story. Ach company has its own character except BB they just do whatever it can to save their asses without thinking of the company image

  • the tablet is d best so far. much better and more convenient than an ipad. dumped my ipad for a playbook, and its worth it.

  • I don't understand, most people say that os 2.0 is awesome. I just upgraded my playbook to os 2.0 and now I'm experiencing so much lag when playing youtube video. Am I the only one?

  • I own the playbook and an ipad 2. And the playbook is just better than the ipad 2. Unless of course, you have a problem with a 7 inch screen. And face it, the new ipad really doesnt provide for a much different experience than the ipad 2. Its just the screen thats better and in all honestly it didnt have to be. The ipad 2s screen is pretty good. So well, there you have it. Take your pick. Playbook is just the best bang for your buck imo.

  • i have heard the new in GSM blog about the new update, does it include arabic language?

  • the only problem with blackberry is its OS. the data charges are too high for blackberry compared others.. that too apps are limited

  • Me, my boss and 3 of my colleague bought a new unit of playbook here in the philippines. during my initial set-up.. the playbook perform well.. then, my girlfriend was amazed with friendly browsing of the unit so she purchased within 3 days. i voluntary assist her in installing the the OS. and then after a day.. she was using it in perfect condition.. my boss saw my new gadget and asked me to order a unit for him, same with colleague in my office. a day after, my boss playbook encounter a problem during initial set-up. thus, the store was force to replace the unit with a new one. the other two playbook was running finely.. two weeks after i purchased my unit. i encounter a problem on the camera. a red line appears in front camera very visible when are taking pictures in the playbook monitor. same problem was encounter by my girl friend after 5 days.. then, suddenly my playbook was unable to open. it was on holy thursday of 2012. and in good saturday. i have try to turn-on my playbook. i am planning to let the technician checks my unit. suddenly, it operates normally, charging is ok, browsing, and sound and movies are playing nicely, after a day after, it is totally black out. not charging, cannot open the device.. same problem was encounted by my officemate. so, we when to the shop, and the shop replace the unit with new playbook. now, am starting to settin-up the O.S, same with y office mate..i am just hopeful that it will never happen again. and also the rest of the playbook will have better performance.. btw, my girlfriend playbook camera at this monent has a redline. we are planning to return also her unit when she arrive in manila soon.

  • Can i use data card to internet for this playbook?

  • What about making a break and try the new iPad? Then you can retun to admire the PlayBook as long as you wish.

  • It is a brilliant piece of kit. The new OS 2.0 is smooth and packs a nice overall experience. The sound is loud and clear at the same time. The screen is even better (dare I say) than the Ipad2. Battery is decent. Obviously it could do with more apps in the market but it is always slow to get the ball rolling on a new OS. Eventually they will start coming in the market and I am fine by that. Overall, it is the best buy if you are on a budget. But it does more than just justice to your budget.

  • With the price reduction, you can't go wrong. At a $199 price tag, it comes in cheaper than any other tablet on the market. Don't let the low price fool you though, the specs and features keep up with it's competitors. I was in the midst of upgrading from my 9700 but was lucky to come across this device. With it's seamless integration to my BlackBerry device, it makes for a wonderful BB experience. Tethering on a flash enabled device is what had me sold.

  • if you consider video calling only Skype application, then the answer is NO. there is no Skype for Playbook. However, there are options for video calling. Anyone whoi has Playbook there is excelent quality video call app called Videochat or Comwave, or V-mobile. Another option for video call is to use multi cross ReelPortal, which runs under Adobe Flash and has full capability of vocie /video call for anyone who has Flash web browser. Out of my experience there is plenty of android tablets, which can run Skype, but cannot make video call.

  • Guyz, does the BB's Play Book support video calling....???

  • I've just bought a Playbook because all the early reviews of it are very good. Its only later reviews that trash it- largely the result of "jumping on the bash-RIM bandwagon" that's probably instigated by finaciers who will gain to see RIM bankrupt. If RIM falls, it won't be good for consumers. How could having fewer operating systems on the market possibly be a good thing? A few months ago, there was a great wave of "Android is Dead" articles saying how Android has failed as a phone and tablet OS. And guess what? Now 6 months later, Android is everywhere. The Playbook features a) excellent hardware and built very solidly, b) are running a brilliant, fast efficient operating system, c) has more than enough applications for the average user. I use my Playbook mainly for reading news, reading ebooks and PDF articles and the occasional game. I think the BB OS 2.0 is brilliant, stable and fast. So far, I'm quite impressed. The 0S 2.0 is a marked improvement over the original OS. So don't be swayed by the initial negative reviews that were based on OS 1.0

  • So I'm not the only one experiencing the sudden crash of the browser. To me it happens daily. Very annoying. Has anybody submitted a complain to Blackberry. What was the answer?

  • My son has an ipad 2, so that was my first thought when considering a tablet. However, the PB was considerably cheaper - £199 for a 32Gb PB versus £329 for a 16Gb ipad. Price isn't everything, of course - but when I checked out the PB in the store I was hugely impressed by the build quality and by the slckness of the OS I wanted a tablet for occasional use - for accessing the web & email when sitting waiting for my wife as she shops -;), and also capable of playing videos and films. The PB does these things, and much more, with ease. I'm not very bothered about 'apps' - so the limited number of PB apps is not a consideration for me. What I want is easy web connection, decent email, and a gadget fast enough to stream You Tube and play video files without problems. The PB does this - and is small enough to be extremely convenient. I'm sure there are 'better' tablets out there - and there will be certainly be better tablets available this time next year. However, for the price/quality/feature set, I think the PB is a very decent buy at the moment.

  • Please launch with support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS. Then this will be superb product

  • I have many tablets and I wished the best for PlayBook but I can't lie myself: after the update of OS it takes minutes to boot, too long, it's apps store doesn't have Skype, Amazon Kindle and Google map applications (mandatory), the battery lasts one third of iPad's and Adobe flash is bad in such small web pages, it hinders to scroll or click the desired links, it does more bad than good when we don't use a mouse with the browser.

  • apparently u are the user who dont know what is doing. Why mine goes all day running, playing stream music in back and surfing ? Charging it once a day / two ? Charging takes 2 and half hours, Booting take less than 2 minutes, well screen is 7 in , small to carry on travels, but crisp, detailed, and big enough to show full size website. Speaking out of my experience. At the price 199 USD it is the best tablet on the market ! by d end of 2012 there will be new major update.

  • is it the best blackberry phone

  • Its battery lasts only 3 hours with wifi on. You can't surf web too long; the screen is cramped in 7 inches. The updated PlayBook 2.0 OS boots in 7 minutes, too long; on stand-by it drains the battery in about one day or two, too short time between recharges.

  • i dont care about apps in the appworld. Nowadays is everytbing on the web. Chat, video, dictionaries,..etc..Playbook is the best i experienced for surfing the web. Small , versatile, fastest on the market, and whats more over, it has flash ! .and it streams flash video. I don,t. Mention applications for office, cos i dont use it. I love mine 16 GB. Milion devices sold worldwide.

  • Bad idea

  • No

  • I think it was a good choice. The Galaxy doesn't have flash and when the playbook came out 16 gb was $700

  • It shouldn't heat up but in case it disturbs you get a case.

  • i have bought the playbook 2 months ago it is so good. hd games are so nite but 1.who is for playing games hours it heats a lot i used to play mp in modern combat after days it began to slow down cam hungs sume time. but who is buying for fun and not playing intense games can sure but it net experiance is soooo good compare to others and apps also good. but dont play it turn hot it turn your pb so slow i am experincing it

  • Good dude...Personally all things considered, I think its the best tablet out there and is only going to get better in the coming months!

  • I just recently bought a playbook 32gb for $249. Did I make a right choice of spending money on this and not spend more money on a samsung galaxy tab? What u all think? Good or bad

  • Eh, Playbook is for people who know good English! It is made by English Canadians for themselves, Eh!

  • does blackberry play book has the blackberry messenger in it?

  • Bought the 16gb Playbook 4 months ago, have waited for OS 2.0, but frankly speaking after OS 2.0 came out, the tablet is still incomprehensible in relation to the apps in the Appworld (so to speak). I have been searching for a decent English to English Dictionary App but still couldn't managed to find one. I just could not get it when developers seemed uninterested to develop an app related to English dictionary and/or thesaurus. Gonna sell my playbook today and buy back Ipad 2 (since the price has massively gone d down)

  • I am having same freeze-ups when trying to load some android apps frequently. I would hope that the Android based apps at the App store could be flagged so we can take take care to run them when time wastage is not an issue.

  • Thank goodness for the OS2 upgrade - Makes the Playbook what it should've been at launch - Fun, flexible, powerful and comprehensive (OS1 didn't have predictive text for example, or even email hosting unless tethered to your blackberry). There's a growing list of Android apps becoming available officially, and unofficially a growing number of Android apps available to be side-loaded on to the Playbook (which is how I got the Kindle app on mine). Side effect is that now the web browser occasionally spontaneously closes - Expect that fixed in OS2.01 I'm sure.

  • I got a new bb tablet 16Gb yesterday the 24th of March and it has frozen about 100 times. As at now, I restarted it and for about 30minutes now, it hasn't finished booting. Earlier, the capacity info was empty so I couldn't access my songs and other stuff. I'm getting frustrated and I need help. Or did I make a wrong decision over ipad.

  • The Playbook WILL natively run Android apps thanks to v2.0 Source: Licensed Blackberry Developer

  • Is this tablet worth all the money? I am currently using BB Curve 9360 and I'm looking for a tablet that is worth the price and won't regret buying it. I need you feedback regarding this guys. Thank you!

  • Playbook has over 10,000 Apps. The App selection is fine. Your comment more relates to when it was launched....

  • can be usb dongle used ,

  • Blackberry playbook will not run android apps unless you root it. It does not have a sim card/ 3G/ HSPA/ GPRS/ LTE. it only has Wifi support and bluetooth. Also if you have a blackberry phone you could you blackberry bridge (tethering type) so you can go online without wifi. playbook doesn't have expandable memory. its only built-in it has flash player so you can watch videos on any website. it also has support for the latest HTML5 webpages. video recording is 1080p High definition. and rear camera is 5MP. which is really good. fron camera is 3Mp great for video call. OS 2 of the playbook has built-in e-mail client. so its awesome. not the best but great. only $149.00 bucks for 32GB @ best buy stores in North America with 1 year warranty. No kidding. Not bad for a tablet. Love this

  • yes, it will have an android store because of the update

  • Tablet with no support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS. This is not a GSM device, it will not work on any GSM network worldwide.

  • blackberry playbook have simcard , i purchase this gadget plz.. send this gadget full spesification suggest me and support gprs for datacard plz, give me fast ans, i hope to your good oppionion

  • Is it possible to use Yahoo Messenger on this tablet?

  • no

  • I experienced the same issue. But, after change to another wi-fi connection, the OS update is done without problem. So, you need to find a decent wi-fi and try it again. It works! Don't worry mate

  • I'm an English teacher and i own a playbook since november last year..what annoys me is that there's not a single good english-english dictionary app (free or paid). Hope the developers can do something about it or teachers will distance themselves from buying playbooks

  • Is it good enough for a B.tech student and is it fast, good graphics suppotring and many more..........

  • can any one tell me how to connect it with other devices through bluetooth ?

  • you have a problem with your wifi connection. You need to find a decent wifi connection.

  • playbook support voice call,3g.and how can i surf internet by usb dongle or sim card reply me pls i want to buy this pls

  • No it supports only internet. No calls through 2G, No 3G, No SMS and No MMS is supported

  • Yes the initial setup and software upgrade is crazy! I almost got mad on the tablet. But yes once done, its wonderful to use.

  • I have had playbook for about 3 months now. It is by far the best tablet for the price range. you can run android simulator and use this as android tablet, added with alot of free best apps in all the app markets as a compliment to playbook users. does everything another tablet can do. runs android apps. and just costs $200 where Samsung tablet and ipad are above $600

  • Did he try restoring it and trying to update again?

  • The play book is lovely, its far better than ipad and d rest But I will like RIM to improve on some items 1. It must have a sim tray 2.It must have a return key 3.It must have an option key 4. It must have external memory RIM improve pls

  • root and you can use all android apps with no problem at all.

  • I found out how to get android apps. I bought a galaxy tab 7.7 and now i hav android and 3g and everything the playbook has and doesnt have. Os2 is just crap.

  • you can install android market and enjoy the great tablet

  • My friend just bought the 64GB Playbook, he got it yesterday and it has been trying to update to OS2, but it has failed about 15 times so far. The furthest it got is to 210Mb (out of 500) and then it failed. Worst is, you can't even use it until it's updated (will it ever get updated?). I am glad I didn't buy it yet. I will buy one if RIM can sort out the update problems! Until then I think the Andriod based devices are the way to go.

  • I've noticed that the android player freezes quite often rendering all android applications useless. The only option left is to restart the playbook. And it freezes for no apparent reason while running an Android app like taptu or bord etc. If it's working, you can't freeze it by say quickly moving between different android apps or quickly entering multiple commands. It just freezes randomly when you would least expect. Also if I close it and leave it it does recover in 15 minutes or so saving a restart. It's frustrating nonetheless.

  • dis is not an android device

  • it has no skype yet. may be there will be one in the near future

  • it comes preloaded with microsoft office word, excel and powerpoint. it also supports flash when browsing the web..

  • Yes and no. The built-in music player doesn't have it. But in Android Market, there are plenty, e.g.Equalizer. Bare in mind, currently, not all Android apps work with PB Android runtime.

  • Pls suggest me if I have to buy blackberry Playbook or not I'm in a dilemma u are the users so u must be knowing much better if it is good or not pls help me pls

  • Does playbook updated with os 2.0 has inbuilt equalizer in music player? Or is there any music application which has equalizer support?

  • I have no problem playing those files with 2.0 OS. Not sure if current 1.x supports them. Pity native player doesn't support subtitle at the moment.

  • Bought 16GB version from Currys at £169 a week ago. Installed 2.0 beta and many Android app esp all my Bible apps work perfectly. As a book reader, it's better than Kindle Fire by miles. As a tablet, brilliant display, dual core processor, 3M front camera, fast graphic, there is no rival with this price. Buy it before too late!

  • I still prefer the Motorola Xoom for a tablet but it is too big for me to carry around. I just bought the Playbook, its not Android and it doesnt have much apps but with the price drop and the future update, the playbook is suffice. I also think it's the best looking 7" tablet.

  • do we could insert a sim in it and could we make a call through it

  • It should support .mkv, aac3 file formats in the next coming update

  • i really like my playbook. i've owned it since july and use it everyday. missing a few apps, but besides that it's a nice tablet.

  • But seriously speaking the playbook is a gadget freaks must have.. Only one annoying thing tho it does not support a bluetooth headset which is realy realy annoying at the moment... I suggest RIM should do something about that...

  • no skype on this PoS skype doesn't like blackberry

  • 2.0 confirm support bluetooth headset, A2DP. I have tried it in beta version can connect very well.

  • Will QNX 2.0 support file receiving and sending from/to other mobile device via bluetooth? Will it support music listening via any bluetooth headset after pairing the same with the help of bluetooth connectivity?

  • Will QNX 2.0 support file receiving and sending from/to other mobile device via bluetooth? Will it support music listening via any bluetooth headset after pairing the same with the help of bluetooth connectivity? I believe both the features are unavailable in current QNX 1.0.8

  • Hi, I just received tweet from BB Customer Service and they confirmed that the upcoming update 2.0 will not support Arabic language funny because I have contact called them before and they confirmed that Arabic Language will be supported in the 2.0 or at least RTL. Blackberry I dont know what the hell are you doing.

  • Can we use gsm sim card on playdook ? What about sms , voice calling?

  • Quite amaizing what pips wuld do 2 get that gedget...though negetively imposed but i wuld say this is an exceptional device one culd own...

  • Can i knw whether i can install skype in this??

  • Hello All, Can anyone confirm that 2.0 update support Arabic Language? Thanks

  • I like this tab... my only concern is " will it work here in the Philippines... ( Globe Wifi user here )

  • The Playbook is a great bit of kit. Does everything it's intended to do plus software updates and upgrades to come. Plus, with the price at the moment, it offers the best value for money compared to many other tablets. Personal preference is key here...as with most tech nowadays. 8/10

  • Hello All, Does anyone knows how to add Arabic support to playbook or even just keyboard? Thanks

  • it is the galaxy s2 that is incompatible not the galaxy mini. get one of your friends who have a galaxy s2 to try it with a hitspot anf you will see galaxy s2 wireless portable hotspot is incompatible with playbook. i have a useless playbook as a result.

  • Upgraded QNX 2.0 is expected to hit d market in last week of february.

  • When is the upgraded software being available...?

  • when is the playbook coming to mtn?

  • Will QNX 2.0 support file receiving and sending from/to other mobile device via bluetooth? Will it support music listening via any bluetooth headset after pairing the same with the help of bluetooth connectivity? I believe both the features are unavailable in current QNX 1.0.8.

  • It doesnt support ad-hoc network!! I had to go & buy a wireless adsl modem for this shit to work! Unable to setup while connected to PC...need WiFi to activate!! Downloads upate & got cut...it start from begining son of a gun! Will keep you posted, Regards Papu Maharaja

  • yes it supports pdf files. there is a preloaded pdf viewer

  • the blackberry playbook itself, does not have bbm in it. But you can sync your blackberry smartphone through a feature called blackberry bridge which enables you to access to the net anywer provided you have the required data plan... so you can use bbm just on a bigger screen.... But with my personal experience i think that the playbook is an amazing thing and is a must buy... it gives u dat new feeling which u dnt gt in neodr tabs thez days...

  • Tethering is a feature of a device as phone to provide over WiFi or bluetooth data connection, PlayBook is receiving such feature from phone, so PlayBook is not to be blamed. Tethering is a fancy name that means making a phone to work as a WiFi router, the tablet does not care if it is a phone set to tether or normal router.

  • Afraid not

  • Who told you that Playbook does not support Wi-fi hotspot with Samsung Smartphone? I am currently using my playbook connected to my Samsung Galaxy Mini thru Wi-Fi hotspot of the phone and it is working just fine. Blackberry playbook is a very good tablet. Read more before you advice nonsense.

  • I am planning to buy a BB Playbook.I have a 500GB External Portable HDD.Anyone who knows if it is possible to connect my external HDD and view my work without having to save on the BB? Does it have an adapter like Samsung Galaxy tab. Please help!

  • does the playbook have a Blackberry messenger ?

  • just got my bb and im so far enjoyin it.

  • noob , the playbook has the best flash player ever ... the pb browser supports flash natively , besides that with a rooted and corectly configured playbook it beats ipad and android , since a rooted playbook will run full android it works really well in android and under its native os (playbook os a.k.a qnx linux)

  • Recently I bought wifi only playbook. Surprisingly I found this model does not have compatibility with samsung galaxy s2 i9100. I tried creating wifi hotspot from s2 but playbook failed to used teather from s2 and use internet. I went to samsung center ,same s2 can teather with othr tabs and phones but not with playbook. Now, I went to blackberry center , none of playbook model support teather from s2. I come to know that playbook does not support teather from many other samsung models. Buyer take care of that.

  • it hs no flash

  • Thanks for ur opinion... Plz tell me does it support pdf files??

  • If it's a toss between the dell streak and the playbook then this wins hands down.

  • Hi, you will buy blackberry because it's not better it is best. use for fast net. And not only that it has a good futures. And giving u a suggetion blackberry 9360 is best and it is basic model in os7.

  • Google Maps don't work with BB PlayBook, there is no BB PlayBook app for it and the web app gets stuck at loading the page. I was shocked when I found such bug in PlayBook browser. It has a link on its home screen to bing that works fine but not very smooth. It has embedded GPS but you still need a phone with data plan that works as router on WiFi (then probably you will use the phone for maps, more handy). Such tablet is good only for around home or for certain business applications, its screen is too small for entertainment. Yet, it's worth for $200.

  • Do not buy one...they have been promising apps for this thing for 8 or 9 months and still nothing of any substance...if you own a BlackBerry phone, maybe; if not, stay away...

  • Too anyone out there who owns one of these, I'm stuck with getting this or the Dell Streak 7. The main function I want the tablet for, is going onto Google Maps, and using it to plan my route for my days work. As you can set destinations etc, and it helps find what addresses are closer etc. Any comments/replies to my enquiry would be Much Appreciated!!

  • I dont have any black berry phone.\ Is this better for me?? Should i buy this or not???

  • Why there's no 3G on it? :( , & is there any other playbook wiz 3G?

  • That's an awful review. I find the playbook smooth, easy to use, even when I have it loaded full, it's still quick at opening applications and very fast browsing, play youtube videos with no buffer, perhaps it's your WIFI that is the issue, not your playbook.

  • The QNX OS v2.0 will launch by 17Feb and yes the current playbook will be updated by it aswell so that android apps can run on it.

  • im so enjoying my playbook i dont leave home without it, it does everything and really easy to use best thing everrrrr

  • dont get confused with other tabs..! the best tab now! far better than ipad!!

  • no gprs? .a no go area.nonsense.

  • absolutely u can connect any mobile modem to it n browse the net

  • Can i Connect USB Stick for Internet browsing

  • give the playbook a chance you only seem to be focusing on the not so good points of the playbook and comparing them to the good points of the ipad. what about 5mp rear camera and a 3mp front camera both of which shoot 1080p video. twice the ram of the ipad- 1gb. true multitasking. smooth flash playback on youtube and bbc iplayer, the ipad doesn't even support flash. i'm not saying that the ipad is a bad tablet but it has it's faults aswell.

  • hi, Will the current model of blackberry support the upgraded software due in November which will allow installation of android apps. rgds

  • Iam Lil confused whether to buy Blackberry playbook or not??.... I got Wi-fi in my flat...but on the move if i want to access net how shall I do that ..I dnt have a BB mobile..I dnt want to buy it even.. Please suggest.....

  • I have both iPad 2 and BB PlayBook. I use them regularly and I compare there features. As hardware and sofware quality PlayBook is similar with iPad 2, but similar not equal. However iPad 2 is better: 1. The size of screen is more contortable too the majority of people, less strain on eyes due to larger screen for almost the same resolution, we get bigger fonts in the same number on screen. 2. iPad 2 is confortable for holding it in portrait mode, best form factor for reading text. PlayBook not. 3. PlayBook is too heavy for its size thus to be kept by one hand only. 4. Even if we deactivate Flash on PlayBook the web browser is slower on PlayBook and buggy, some pages don't load to the end and if they are too long render slowly at scrolling the page. 5. Some touch commands have 1 secund latency on PlayBook or ignored, second attempt works, verified many times, iPad 2 has no such fault. 6. The battery life for the same usage on PlayBook is almost one third from iPad 2. I do not comment the applications because th programmers community is responsible but a good and fast browser is the tresponsability of RIM for PlayBook. Do not juge me we you do not own both devices. For HTML5 only the browser for iPad 2 is better ever than Android's. I wish to be more competition on tablets but no equivalent so far to iPad 2.

  • 7 inch is easier to carry around than a 10 inch tablet. Blackberry Playbook will support Android apps in February. I say go for it; you will not regret that you did.

  • no sd card slot = just finger count tablets support this . ipad, galaxy tab too . bad camera = im weired how you reached this ! its the best camera in the tablet world . no doubt . just follow the reviewes . 0.7mp ipad ? or 720p 3GP of androids ? you have 5.0mp with a 1080p rec . even on front . without flash = ha ? bad operating system = GOD ! its the most powerfull OS in mobile world ! just see the multitasking ... ow .. how you say something like this ? bad battery backup = yepp . its true ... hardly .. but not bad . highly expensive = various in contries .

  • can i use net connection(modem) by USB

  • The Playbook has GPS

  • in blackberry playbook you can not use data card. next model supports datacard

  • Blackberry is offering 50% festive discount on Playbook in India for 2-3 days. Is it worth it?, do we need a blackberry phone to access mails? Please guide. Puneet

  • Is it possible to connect a USB stick for internet (Like Reliance, Tata photon etc. ) to the play book and browse internet thorugh this 3G stick.

  • no sd card slot bad camera without flash bad operating system bad battery backup highly expensive ...... wtf

  • I watched 1hr 12mins vid and lost 14%,,if you want a tablet and love Blackberry why noy support Blackberry and buy one..Who has tested thousands of apps?? I just rather have 10-20 brilliant apps than 2million rubbish apps...Blackberry is the safest most secure way of mobile computing ever,no-one has hacked into a Blackberry..

  • Ipad have the smoothest OS on there tablet IOS. And App store with half million apps. And amazing battery time. Ipad 2 is still selling at 499$ and people buying it. And no one buying playbook even on 199 :)

  • I watched a 52 minute video and it used 12% of power.

  • how long it can play video ?

  • You need only will.

  • so why ipad? Extremely bad camera No card slot Overprice No flash ? and you're wrong. It can use android apps and it can make skype video calls.

  • Do i need blackberry internet service to download Blackberry Apps on Playbook? or just wifi is good?

  • @Ashish, you can the curve with the playbook and use the EDGE network for web browsing. But ideally you should have a 3G network on your phone and then the web browsing speed on the playbook should be good enough for sane(read as acceptable) surfing. The Playbook is being retailed at $199 in some stores in the US, you can check it at Bestbuy..it's only a matter of time, the prices are reduced for the playbook in India.

  • guys..an offer at some cities in india promises BB 8520 Curve FREE with this playbook at a price of about Rs.27,500 odd! my question being, how efficiently can i use the BIS service from this low end Curve 8520 phone over the playbook? also, do u think there wud be any catch coz this offer looks too gud to be true. And finaally, from 8520, can i upgrade to OS6 or mayb OS7 by any chance? thnx.

  • hey guys does the Blackberry Playbook 64 has a sim card bank?

  • in my country there isn't many tablet options. so i am considering buying this, but i wonder if i will miss android and if the 7 inch is better than 10, do you think 7 inch tablet are better than 10?

  • Its a nice tab..but it never support any andriod or ant other market...Junk for Facebook and Youtube only...sold it for free....

  • how to transfer pictures and videos from my BB bold 9780 to PB?....everything was in order to but still cannot get thru as the transfer always failed. is there any ideas how to overcome this?

  • yepp it can . uses document to go for reading and editing . edits word and excel . but presentations are read only . for pdf uses the powerfull Adobe reader inside . no need to install anything . these are all preinstalled .

  • Can playbook open MS word, excel and pdf?

  • It supports Android Market :)

  • it Supports every Blackberry phone that uses BlackBerry os 5.0 and higher .

  • works fine with Bold 9700, 9780, torch 9800, 9810, 9850, 9860, bold 9900, for sure I've also heard it is compatable with the curve 9360, and 9370

  • as from experience and testing and knowledge the playbook is compatible with bold 9700 and 9900. there maybe more and others but these i can personally verify.

  • In the end it'll be for free.

  • Can someone PLS!! , tell me what blackberry phones are compatible with the playbook , (names and model numbers) i want to get this for my daughter for xmas gift. Thank you very much for your help on this guys.

  • Based on recent news the playbooks price will soon be heavily discounted so i'd wait till then and score yourself a great tablet at a great price.

  • Great tablet if you're into media. The screen is amazing when playing 1080p videos and the speakers pump out some good sounds. For a fixed focus camera it takes pretty good pictures and the HD video recording is equally as good imo. Its only missing a couple of handy features for me at the moment. Most importantly the app store is rather limited which can be a little frustrating but with support for android apps coming in the future it should get better. Secondly is its inability to stream audio via bluetooth. Might not be a high priority for some but for me it is and considering many low end devices can do it i dont see why a high end device like the playbook cannot.

  • i recommend it to every geek . i use it for 1080p playback , High Quality PDF reading , Photo/video capturing . it's great in all of these . just go to ESP (or any other site !) and download Electric guitars catalog ! and test PDF readers in every device ! any device smoother , better ! and blackberry and Ipad 2 were best along all 2ual core Tablets .

  • Can dis bb playbook ping?

  • great gadget... u can streaming on youtube only with your Blackberry Internet Service

  • Do you advice me to buy BlackBerry PlayBook ?

  • Thanks for the prompt response. If that's the case that I can actually access the net by connecting the playbook to my BB curve, you have just totally convince me to get the BB Playbook ;-)

  • is it a phone? can i call from it?

  • Yepp you can . easily bridge it to your Curve 9360 and sync Contacts , Caendar with it . but in Playbook OS 2.0 playbook can use its standalone Contact/caalendar app . you have 3 ways to connect to internet . 1.wifi 2.BB Bridge . (connects with bluetooth and alows you to sync contacts .) 3.Ordinary bluetooth tethering , i connect it to my SE K750i and i have no problem with it . fast enough for chat or email

  • Hi! I have the BB Curve 9360 and I am planning to buy a tablet to complement with my smartphone and I am thinking of getting this one. It's a thing of beauty. I would like to ask, aside from WIFI, are there any other ways that I can connect to the web using BB Playbook? If I bridge this tablet to my phone, will it access the internet? How does it actually work? Hoping to know your take on this. Thanks!

  • no

  • can we use/create blackberry messenger group in blackberry playbook ? my playbook is 16gb. tq

  • nope

  • can this tab be used as Cellphones for makin and receiving calls??

  • Just great . use bluetooth tethering with even a low end phone and surf the web on the go . 1080p Video recording . even on front camera . and read the most heavy PDFs like 1800 page books with ease . compared with asus transformer . if you like 40 pages with 10 apps in each of them (that youll not use in your wholelife !) then dont buy this . but if you want a tablet , it's a must have . any problems ? ask .

  • Of course there's no Flash Lite, because it has Adobe Flash 11! This tablet is very very good. Not as fast as iPad2, but that's not a big problem i think. There's 1 thing that you're not gonna like it. Apps. Nothing interesting in BB App Store.

  • no

  • why appworld and kobobooks etc must use wifi? can't use bis connection? what a pity...

  • no you cant, you can only use BBM if the tab is tethered to your blackberry however you can use the App world over wifi

  • thanks for the feedback. i was confusing whether to buy bb phone. because worry that the internet could not be connected.only dont have BBM lo.. thanks

  • can we insert memory cards in playbooks?

  • 1) One major drawback is no Flash Lite. 2) But one more major drawback is Blackberry App World does not support in many countries like in Pakistan etc. Please support so we can use playbook with Blackberry Handsets. All others features are excellent.

  • If you dont have a bb phone, can you still use BBM?

  • useless piece of technology . bought it a week ago and sold it after 3days...go to hell BLACKBERRY

  • jack of all trades, owner of none. but still black berrys finest hour. only bb supper phone and 1Ghz. I've seen better... but not bad for a bb.

  • I have a playbook and have a blackberry curve 9300 and support blackberry services but still not support blackberry apps world in pakistan. Why? All Android and Apple apps supports but not BB apps..

  • ya

  • can we use skype on the playbook ?

  • very beautiful thank you, blackberry.....

  • So will you keep the playbook with you or decide to shift to another brand...? It is something strange that the 3G/4G version of this tablet does not come up yet... Hopefully there will be major revision and improvement on the 3G/4G version...LOL

  • I have been using this for about a month now. This is a really nice toy with some draw backs. The Video quality is excellent. (HQ is amazing) But you cant play all movie formats on the built in player. But you can download a movie player which can support all formats at a cost. This is a major failure. The You tube app which comes by default will give you lot of problems. Best way to watch you tube is only to open a browser and open youtube on the internet. The application sucks. The FB application installed by the manufacturer keeps crashing every 30 minutes. Most of the pictures formats are not supported. Even though the tablet is bridged to your phone, while other internet applications are running, FB keeps saying Your not connected to Internet. When you are in a page you do not see the friends friends list in the info. This is a Unlike on the BB phone, you can not access the apps world. You need to connect it to a WiFi area to connect Apps world. There is actually no issue with the power button. Yes it is very difficult to operate but on the screen you have options to Sleep, Restart and Shut down. The rotation has many issues. The screen does not rotate (Orientation) smoothly. You need to show the sky and the earth to the screen to twist your screen to the portrait view or landscape view. Web access and internet experience is far greater than any other tablet. The 1GB processor gives you a real advantage on the operation. Even when your bridged, your connection is very fast (Depending on your telecom provider). But the browser will close for no reason. All pictures will show under Pictures but you cant make folders and hide folders. You need to buy apps from to support this. Bing Maps can not identify your location. I tried this few time but didnt work. So had to be satisfied with Maps on the phone. The tablet should be able to support as much as the phone Map does since the tablet has a bigger screen and can be used as a GPS while driving. The mobile Map works excellent in that case. Voice notes can record and this is extremely good. I sang few songs in front of the Tablet and the playback gives studio quality. Camera is good. View on the tablet is also good. Using Word, Excel, and PP is very good. Not upto standard to edit documents. But to view, excellent. [email protected]

  • in a word....yes it bluetooth bridges to your phone, so it will get all bbms u get on your phone

  • does the playbook have bbm n is it like a fone where u dial with it n talk.which one has 3g??

  • can i use hotmail or yahoo msn in playbook ?

  • I have PlayBook and BlackBerry Curve 9300. Dose anyone help me to send BlackBerry Bridge apps? BlackBerry Apps does not support in Pakistan.

  • does this have blackberry messenger

  • which is more cool? And can be a replacement to laptop? Bbplaybook or ipad2?

  • yes

  • as of now yet but after october they might release the upgraded os to play android application after the devcon

  • it doesnt run bis/bes, the os is qnx

  • could this be considered as a replacement to laptop

  • can you get bis on this device?

  • it has its own pin

  • yes it does

  • does the playbook have it's own pin..or does it use the pin of the BB device bridged with it?

  • WHich country do u live i will check and reply

  • does anybody help me how to get App BlackBerry Bridge for PlayBook. The blackberry apps not support in our country. i have bb curve 9300.

  • yes if you do it properly

  • No dude, the playbook uses the bluetooth bridge.

  • Hi Guys, Got mine about a week ago, and i love it! had a go with a galaxy tab 10.1 and a appel iPad. And the Playbook is the one i really like, it's very powerful and responds very well under multitasking and the bonus for me is i can bridge the playpad with my Blackberry smartphone and it works with my BIS data plan. I can do everthing on my Playpad. Only down side is I can't check my SMS,MMS and take phone Calls on the pad. But if you really like Blackberry's I recommend the Playpad.

  • no, if it's the 4g model yes

  • does bb playbook need a simcard?

  • how much does it cost?

  • the best playbook

  • It would be nice if PlayBook will support: 1. Android apps 2. Phone call functionality 3. Text messaging 4. 4G support.. Here in the Philippines, Globe Telecom is the exclusive dealer but I gt disappointed to know that I can't put SIM on it.

  • Yes it allows you to use your existing Data plan to surf the web using the Bridge Browser on your Playbook. If you're connected to a BES you can also view links to intranet or any other networked GUI.

  • hey. can i install android apps on this gadget?

  • the latest update allows doing everything except appworld via BIS. maybe a bug who knows. but anyway you have Bridge Web Browser

  • the playbook is your BB twin

  • Okay so BIS through bridge gives me access to existing phone content like emails, BB messeges etc. Does it also allow me to browse via Playbook, using my BB existing data plan?

  • would i be able to connect to playbook using 3g network from my phone without using wifi??

  • dont have it as yet but id love to know wheathr it has the BIS service

  • I am sooooo happy with my Playbook. Bought it in Thailand while on a working holiday. For the past few weeks I've loved it immensely. It's super snappy, the browser is amazing, photos and videos are nice. If you want to buy it, you won't regret the choice. But, wait for calendar, email and contacts to arrive. Those are some of the most important features you'll want on it. Here are some comparisons vs. iPad and Galaxy Tab. Best browser: BB Playbook Best gaming platform: Galaxy Tab (iPad close second) Best personal organiser (iPad, but as soon as Playbook is updated, it'll be a clear winner with BIS and BES, super secure email and very nice calendar). Media device: BB Playbook (natively plays AVI's, perfect size to watch shows on while travelling, speakers are REALLY impressive). Things I like: Battery -- I've thrown everything I have at it, and it has never run out of steam before the very end of the day. Sometimes, with moderate browsing, I get two days on a charge). Size -- It truly is a comfortable size to take around with. Meetings have never been this fun. Internet connectivity -- the WiFi is complemented by internet tethering; I use bluetooth to share my Nokia's 3G connection, which is super fast, btw, and access the internet on the run. So actually there is ALWAYS a way to access the internet - just carry your phone around with you!

  • can i use usb 3G modules or usb Wimax with this tablet ? i found out that this tablet does have micro USB and USB trough USB/MicroUSB cord

  • Suck I'm so disappointed to this tabled I wish I buy iPad instead of this

  • How does Playbook have GPS when the spec sheet indicates otherwise... are you referring to same playbook i've got? or i was a rhetorical kinda question?

  • You can use any cellphone that has a hot spot and connect to the internet with the playbook. I have the evo 3d and connect my playbook to it all the time. Internet is very quick, and the playbook displays all internet pages that android tablets or ipad2 can not. Email through the browser is still more secure then a native email. Besides native email only works when you have internet connection on 24/7. The playbook is a portable device. Native email doesnt do me anygood.

  • it will use your BIS dataplan without any extra charges (it even can play youtube movies via it). the screen quality is better than apple's tablets. can't agree about the price - in EU it cost the same as iPad 2 Wifi 16GB.

  • damian When you bridge your phones data connection to a tablet, it will be billed, or use your phones inclusive data allowance. This device has pretty much zero compatibility with apps, a not so good screen, crappy native email support. Its overpriced for what it is. Have you seen such high priced tablet with no Sim support!? What for!?

  • yes I think so

  • Blackberry Playbook does have full GPS!

  • i think this is the first real contender to the ipad 2, having had a go on it. i was very impressed with the speed and overall fluidity of the device. now if the chance arrived i would be hard pushed to decide over this and an ipad 2. the biggest decider would go down to the amount of apps available, and itunes wins hands down. but that asside i was amazing at the speed of watching a film then switching to an app, and then a game with no lag between frames. cool i think.

  • The things I miss: - skype video call, native ssh and rdp (hope will be avail via android apps support very soon) - tasks. the bridge tasks app is useless as well you can't see tasks in the bridge calendar. playbook is being positioned as an enterprise tablet and I'm really disappointed with this. - copy/paste from/to bridge apps (will be available with the next BES) everything else is close to the perfect. just remember: at this moment this tablet is almost USELESS without a BB phone with BIS/BES plan. except you need a good web browser on a 7" screen in a pocket.

  • no card slot not gorilla glass no skype video call overprice whats the point blackberry????????

  • I will say it is because representative from Maxis KK are not well trained to answer questions from us in KK... I went in to one of it to ask for some infor, and they have not even heard of BB Bridge... OMG..

  • can playbook make a phonecall?

  • If you pair it with your BB phone, you need to use the bridge browser and it will be covered by the BIS.

  • Does it have OTG support??

  • Always passionate to Blackberry gadget. But prefer to wait for the 2nd generation of PBook, with hopes that it'll be in 3G ready, support data call and more. Very sad to hear that after few days been launched by Maxis here in Sabah, still '0' zero customer come out from Maxis centre with holding Playbook on their hands. Meaning to say, PBook V1 failed to attract people here.

  • "Hi, I'm a bb user and I will love to buy your playbook, but what I want to know is that does it uses sim card?" Who are you talking to?

  • this playbook cant insert sim card.. It a tablet PC

  • hi guys.once u have briged ur bb and playbook and u use the web via ur bb,do u pay for that use or does ur bis cover that? please help? thanks

  • Hi, I'm a bb user and I will love to buy your playbook, but what I want to know is that does it uses sim card?

  • According to me playbook is awesome and much better nd faster than compare to I pad.......

  • The Playbook can access e-mail and internet while bridged while the BlackBerry handset is also giving the user access to e-mail and internet content. Through my use of the device I can comment: 1. The device is easy to set up and get running. 2. It offers security around Corporate information which other slates / tablets can't. 3. The screen resolution is first class. 4. The touch control is smooth and highly responsive. 5. Using Wifi the Playbook accesses and displays content very quickly with a very good internet experience. 6. Very good camera. 7. Can't comment on the Playbook video chat, since I have not used it. 8. Can simultaneously run multiple applications which the user can easily switch between. I believe that the Playbook will fill a niche.

  • you can use internet only via WIFI,wimax, else you need to bridge you BB handset with Playbook to browse Internet and that to you need to activae BIS(blackberry internet service) plan you can visit below mentioned link to know abt how blackberry bridge is used to acess internet on play book...

  • hi all, im not a BB user but i'm interested to buy this playbook.. any comments about the good and bads about it. tq

  • Can I use Internet, email & bbm on both handsets when I was on bridge mode. It means on bb & on play book. Plssssssss reply asap.

  • You have to be connected via WiFi

  • so can you use a playbook if you dont have a blackberry? like how do you download games and apps from the app world??

  • Well, i hate myself repeating again, there are 2 queries: 1) Is nVidia Tegra 2 better than OMAP GPU used in Playbook 2) Can i use 3G functionality of Blackberry 9780(or the EDGE functionality of Blackberry 8520)by syncing with the Playbook? guys i'll definately appreciate your response

  • NO SIM, as far as comment from the expertee...it is only usefull to the blackberry user...current BB user can syncronized and use Mail and BBM Via bluetooth....cannot use BB service directely on playbook...it does not support voice, sms and mms.

  • is there a skype app that you can video chat with people?

  • Hi guys, there are 2 queries: 1) Is nVidia Tegra 2 better than OMAP GPU used in Playbook 2) Can i use 3G functionality of Blackberry 9870 by syncing with the Playbook? guys i'll definately appreciate your response

  • There's a reason they dont have an Micro SD card. why would someone buy the 64GB version. if they could just buy the 16GB or and stick an Mirco SD card in it.

  • just wanted to know if I can browse internet on BB playbook using Blackberry Bridge (through my BB phone which has an unlimited browsing plan)? Or only BBM, emails etc is allowed through BB Bridge?

  • @michael, it does have its own pin, it's just not usable at the moment. however it will reflect the pin on the bb it's bridged to

  • Why their is no calling ficility in it.

  • Dissappointed:(no sim card slot.a must for asian market.though good may fail badly as no sim option........

  • i think that the bb play book is too sick, its awesome size and weight is ideal for satnav and also the speed is like no other..... truley mutitasking, i have sold loads and its doing well and will do as its should be called best book aaiiiiiiii

  • Dear Michael, how about the GPU? is this GPU(Blackberry Playbook) is better than nVidia Tegra 2???

  • this is a good tablet only if you have a BB phone so you can pair together otherwise you are better of with androids the better ones are the samsung 8.9 and 10.1

  • no its not scratch resistant. its a Tft screen dats y.

  • it supports Playbook to playbook video chat only.

  • microwarehouse at pasig near kapitolyo is responsible for the service on BB..

  • do u have to have a blackberry phone to use all of its capabilities?

  • Does it support USB on the go?

  • This device has BBM capibilities utilising Blackberry Bridge, however it doesn't have it's own unique PIN as it mirrors that of the Blackberry it is connected to.

  • Does this MS Excel, MS Word, etc. how does this compare to the HTC Flyer or the Samsung Galaxy P1000. I am busy shopping for one and not sure which to get. The key difference to the Samsung is that the memory (512MB vs 1GB), else I can;t find much. Please help.

  • Thank you so much for answering back my queries. But, i am puzzled by the fact, that THIS CANNOT run BBM. Do you guys have an idea whether they will sooner or later incorporate the BBM thing in this kick ass gadget. And is the graphic chipset better than Nvidia Tegra 2

  • can you plug it into your computer and download music from your computer?

  • do you have to own a blackberry cell phone do have one of these?

  • i am wondering if you have to pay for a monthly bill for this? and on the facebook application can you chat with people?

  • I saw from the user opinions that in order to go online while you are on the bus or public transport, you need to have a BB phone as a bridge to access 3G service. Even there's wifi, the BBM won't work. I think this defeats the purpose as a mobile device. In my opinion, a mobile device must be able to standalone to access the network. If like now, I will not go for a playbook, but an iPad2 or Galaxy Tab instead. However, to me, this mobile device need not be use for phone calls or sms. But the social media, emails and access to Cloud storage is important. Next, I'm from Singapore. I feel BB service center in here is no good. This pushes me further away. By the way, I'm a happy BB Torch 9800 user. Had been on BB for the passed 2 years.

  • well your wrong.. thats your opinion.. not fact. try finding a really argument.

  • the duel core is rapid and the browser experience is awsome.. mine ran 32 different apps all at the same time before crashing!! stick to under 20 and your safe. if you want something to quick search on or take anywhere you go then this is it!!

  • Its not replace to mobile its replacement on your laptops

  • Its not replace to mobile its replacement on your laptops

  • ohhh im looking forwrd on buying this, but what keeps me on the fence is two things, its non expandable storage and we got no blackberry repair center here in phils.... ahhhhh... this, the iconia a100, and glaxy tab 7, its all about 7' inch screen i needed, hayzzzz... second on the line is iconia a100 but ram maaan, its only 512, my dhd is already 768 ram, i dont intend to downgrade my tab hardware...

  • I have some cool news: http : // money.cnn.com/2011/06/09/technology/rim_playbook/

  • So Far no complaints.. far exceeded my expectations in terms of hardware capabilities ! its a good companion to my wife's BB Bold Only thing now.. Patiently Waiting for the Android App. Player... People usually do a compare and contrast before spending $$$ on electronics.. Somewhat the same with me.. though I could suggest you in my case.. if you're looking for something small and handy (7") this is bay far the best Tab to go for. Another Suggestion: Get the Otterbox Defender case to go with it.. if u don't mind a little bulk on Your tab.. It's strongly built and just looks awesome!

  • Can't wait for it's launch in SA. Very innovative concept with the bluetooth bridge with your BlackBerry phone.

  • What would be the use of this TAB ? Need your opinions, pals !

  • Loving my Playbook

  • Do you mean "their" instead of "there"??? To be honest I would expect a comment like that from someone who clearly lacks general intellect and knowledge of technology.

  • it plays and records 1080p videos at 30 fps. i have a 60 fps video on it and it plays perfect

  • yes it can play any 1080p videos you throw at it. even flash 1080p videos with no slow down or dropped frames. i have owened one since they have been released. I can say that there is no better multimedia tablet on the market. Ps. the speakers are freaking amazing...

  • Does it have the 3G wireless internet connection as well??

  • How about video playback? can it be played at 1080p resolution (if the video is downloaded from torrent sites)? at 30fps?

  • it can record 1080i videos at 30fps

  • Does it have a BBM support ?!

  • Hi, can anyone tell me, whether it can play 1080p videos (video playback) at 30fps?? or is it just 24fps? and the same question goes for the video recording??is it recorded at 30fps or 24 fps

  • The operating system is capable of allowing android developers to easily port apps onto the qnx os so loads of apps will be available. plus the 3g connection from bb bridge works very well.

  • u can connect ur playbook with ur bb handst by using blackberry bridge. then u can use 3g network. even u got wifi if dont have bb handset, u cant use bbm at all

  • how come i used blackberry messanger with out connect wifi?

  • you were a huge apple but now you must be a huge blackberry

  • im a huge apple but after going to playbook event i have been converted to the playbook and how can it have internet issues when its only wifi duuhhhh

  • I work in a phone shop and we've just had the Blackberry Playbook rep come in, I've been told it only weighs 400 grams.

  • Out here in the Philippines but not officialy. in blackmarket 16gb cost around 27k-32k Php. it should only cost around 21-23k Php. BTW, its a great device, but too young.

  • 425 grams is heavy man, 4 a mobile device

  • Its crap, Its crap, Its crap, Its crap, Its crap! Ive seen it, it's pointless Blackberry are pointless, it's the most common handset i see back for problems with the software, the 'D' pad and BBM and internet issues and this is going to be the same. Its not a GSM device and it has only Blackberry software that mis-guided Blackberry users who have no life will find useful to buy with there Jobseekers allowance. Its called the 'Playbook' it should have been named the 'Sh1tbook'. It won't sell and the sales figures will say it all for all of you out there who defend a pointless manufacturer.

  • I heard it is only 425g. But most guys say it's heavy. Anyone knows the real weigh?

  • Good job, but was expecting better finishing on the device... Little too heavy

  • P35,000.00 in the Philippines. More than half of that for the "Blackberry" nameplate alone. You can get an iPad or a Galaxy Tab here for less money and that'll have 3G... and even for much less for wifi-only version. The Blackberry guys here (and telcos) are hyping it up as an "executive" device when you get just about the same features (give or take) out of the thing.

  • I just get it today. it's well made device in Taiwan. very good screen in terms of resolution & viewing angle for perfect web browsing - desktop like. the playbook is a better tablet with good camera, clear sounded speakers but very limited apps atm.

  • Useless if you don't own a blackberry device; such statement is crap, the motto of detractors: you can get the internet connection from ANY cell phone which supports data sharing by bluetooth or wifi hotspot router as iPhone 4 supports now. You carry anyway a cell phone with data plan and email so you don't need cell phone receiver in tablet. You can use iPhone to thether by Bluetooth or hotspot wifi.

  • for anyone who posts no 3g i will clarify 2 things. one it can connect to any blackberry through bridge and use the network and memory. 2 it can connect to any smartphone or even non smart phone (although you wouldn't want to connect a non smartphone) through internet tethering built into the playbook. so basically if you have a phone it has 3g without having to pay for a shared plan.

  • thanks for the lounching afkos nice cell in the market .

  • Folks! why are u guys so ignorant and talk like u already done ur research? Its a playbook and not a phone there are models that support wifi there are models that supports LTE who in hell said that no data connection for this gadgeT?

  • check out the lte version for 3G and stop posting epic fail every time you see no 3G!

  • It already says 3G - NO....what made you think you could make calls from it!! -_- Get a 3G enabled version if you wanna make calls!

  • I played around with it yesterday. Screen looks nice, UI is smooth, but it's really heavy and features are minimal... The weight really ruins it a lot.

  • its crap! cant make calls and dont have the benefit of bis ! epic _fail indedeed!

  • already out here in philippines worth P35,000.00 ..more or less 850 USD! ouch!

  • its fab love it

  • wifi means you can connect it your phone, therefore stay connected.

  • The specs need updating... It has a GPS and 6-axis giroscope

  • Blackberry without data connection = EPIC FAIL!

  • wifi is wifi :p and lte(long term evolution) is 4g cellular data

  • yes, check out the lte version it supports 3g :)

  • If Playbook doesn't have BIS...why wasting my money to buy it...better buy ipad then.

  • The WiFi + 4G version of this will be launched exclusively from Sprint this summer. :)

  • What does WiFi + LTE means?
