  • Its very poor compared to other products.

  • iv just find this in the bin and it still works but im lookin at some ov the over post and think that i my putit back in the bin how must tis cost i can not find a price 4 it is it that bad ??????

  • it consumes battery

  • I owned an IPAQ. Returned for repair under warranty 3 times until I ended up having to repair it myself. Nothing but trouble in the few years I owned it - a very dodgey design. It did me a favour when it finally died. Many others have had severe reliability problems. Do yourself a favour and avoid buying one of these.

  • Yes, you think you know everything. If you did you research you would know the HP6515 is rubbish by the many problems users have found. There is a random rebooting and phone drop-out problem caused by the rear plastic case microswitch actuator not going far enough in to the circuitry make a reliable contact. The fix is to stuff a bit of paper onto the plastic case lug to make the microswitch contact reliable. The dipsticks at HP stuffed up the design and their useless service agents could not even find the cause after several returns of the IPAQ under warranty. Secondly, the HW6515 suffers from keyboard problems because of a lack of hermetic sealing to the keyboard contacts. The Tom Tom GPS add-on was a disaster, making the GPS almost useless. Which clown conjured up that idea? The processor speed is clearly too slow for Tom Tom. Now how about the screen problems and the many other unfixed bugs? Look, this is truly a junk product. I bought one and my bad experience has led me to never buy any HP/Compaq product ever again. HP was once a respectable company. Now even Chinese backyarders make better quality products. The bottom line: IPAQs are crap and HP is crap. Do yourself a favour and avoid anything made by HP/Compaq.

  • Model Is Not Bad. But How Much Is This?

  • I will only say 2 things 1) You obviously know nothing about pdas 2) You should not consider the millions of satisfied owners as lacking in intelligence. I have used several ipaqs and wrote programs on them for several years and they still today amaze me of what an unrepeatable and amazing equipement they present. Even 6-5 years after they where removed from circulation they still work fine. If you just require a phone then buy a phone not a pda next time. Of course though you are entitled to your misguided opinion.

  • I have this cell phone since 2009 this one is good the /features/sounds/graphics. It has a persistent, disturbant problem with regards to receiving sms and calls. This phone isnt good at all =(

  • Are the directors of HP looking at these and can they made any improvement to rescue the Hopeless Phone company

  • where can i get a new case 4 my hp ipaq 6515

  • are HP executive all still sleeping and dreaming?

  • yes HP ipaq is not so good. i have ipaq 6515. automatically shut off even im calling sending SMS. i cant use it now to connect to my computer using USB. i hope HP has a solution with our problems. Thank you..

  • any time i download any programme am being ask to run the application first and open within the application. Can u please give the process to run applications.Thank you.

  • AS i know this HP company realy wost, sorry to say that but it hurt me,i brougt one HP iPAQ rw6815 from dubai sfter 8 month its doesnt work..until now im loking plece where i can meka it live,i went to hp company of dubai that pepole ask some mony to (200DO)send it back to company so how i recomend to others this company don buy any thing from HP)

  • I do not want to recommend this kind of product. it is disgusting to have this specially if you have an important conversation since it automatically shuts off and the quality it is created is below standard. How come your unit will turn off if the cover is detached or loosen. After sales service is very difficult... bad product.

  • where do you find the menu for changing the language?

  • am using this phone nearly 2 year 2 months before I face the problem in battery & software all so. right now Iam in Dubai please advice me your services center in Dubai. why not provide good services in Dubai. yuor phon is very good but your services ................

  • I'll buy this phone right now.. but in my country is not available.. ought!!!

  • its a best phone that i have.

  • What was your fix for the switching off problem?

  • The switching of problem caused by the little switch that the back cover activates instead of stuffing it with paper I took the back of the hw6515 and hard wired across the switch with fine wire. You will need to be carfull and use a fine soldering tip.

  • do any one know how to open a lock sim for this hp wen i put my sim in the phone it is saying that it is sim lock.

  • GPS takes forever to find satellites. I have drove my car for half an hour and it still couldn't tell me the location. Too big and bulky. Limited RAM capacity makes opening GPS software slow and u cant open anything else after that. Dun buy it. Yes, volume barely hearable.

  • It's so bad phone, that i have not enough bad words to complain! too pity.

  • I have used this model for years and the only way that it can be used for internet is when connected to your PC via the cradle. Has NO WIFI or WLAN. Next model up has these.

  • can you connect to the internet via lan on this phone? i heard you could, i bought one and i can seem to find it

  • If you want to delete or erase a file, you need file explorer. You find it to tap: Start > Programs > File Explorer. Find the file you want to delete/erase with file explorer and select it (with te joystick or stylus) after this you need to press the blue botton (left under) and the delete/backspace botton the same time, your device will ask you if you really want to delete file and press yes. I hope you can delete files. Oh, sorry for my bad English, I'm Dutch

  • i have a gripe about low call volume - the only way i can carry on a conversation is on speakerphone, or headset. It is really annoying - even at the max setting the volume is barely audible in th e earpiece. Does anyone have a similar problem? Also the microphoe seems to work when it feels like. So i'm stuck talking on a headset, which is so lame...

  • good phone for it's money. only one thing - square screen is lack. for guys, which phones reboot from time to time. i had this problem, when bought phone, but solved it once and for all. you need to dissasemble it and fix small switch, which controlls back cover presence. it can be clued to pushed position or fixed with some scotch or somehow else... you can see it when you look to back cover. this switch is under right upper hole for cover to mount. it's the only way to solve a problem with reboots and nang on's. good luck.

  • my question is , how can i erase some documents LIKE voice documents / i dont find the way to erase it

  • i have no problem with this handheld, fast enough for browsing the net. never hang even the battery lower power than ipaq 6365 but i love this PDA.. everything is depend on how we care to this phone.. :-)

  • sorry ai have an hp hw6515

  • i have an hw6151 with the same problem (reboot) but i figured out a way to fix the phone! no more reboot!! that dosen't involve paper or other improvisations.

  • I have a problem with my HP 6515w IPAQ during making a call. The person that I am calling could not hear me. ...I have performed hard reset but still it has no effect. Can you please help me?

  • very very worst mobile

  • This phone is a piece of crap, and HP knows it they just won't do anything about it. The battery cover activates a switch to turn the phone off and on when taking the back cover off. Over time it gets loose and just randomly shuts off and reboots. They've know this for a long time and just don't bother helping their customers out. It's too bad the phone has everything you could want but the build quality and customer service blow. Never buying HP again.

  • Have been proud owner of hw6515d for about 2 years now. I am amazed about how people say that it hangs all the time or how bad the build quality is. I mean you are complaining that it restarts in the middle of a call? Or suddenly restarts itself? Or it shuts down occasionally? Did it ever occur to you that your phone may be broken? Sure its old piece of hardware and its running outdated wm2003se but the occasional hang/delay od 2-3 seconds when browsing the menus or shutting down some application is quite normal for most of WM devices. There are exceptions of course like the newest models of HTC and Dell, but this phone is almost 4 years old. Like I said I own this phone for 2 years and never had problem with it. It's build quality is superior compared to what the market has to offer today. Granted its a brick, but its a god damn granite brick. Just one little tip in the end. You have to manually adjust the free ram/storage slider and ensure it has enough free ram to receive incoming calls if you are using some other application/game at the time. If you run out of memory you will experience sluggish performance or even freezes. This was changed in WM5 and newer versions just because the users couldnt understand how the memory management works. You simply cannot assign 6 mb of ram, run a game and expect to receive calls or anything like that.

  • i have been using this phone from january 2009. It use long time to restart and get stucks to a place u never know what is the reason behind. I found this phone a little bit riskey. i use to wear jeans pent when i put my IPAQ in my pocket it suddenly shutdown no one knows the reasion. Using keypad of this phone is more frustrating u can not write an email or mgh with this phone easily deu to its hard keypad. phone settings get changed without no reason and some time the other person to whome u are calling could not hear your voice. I have seem much more problems in this phone with no active solution to all these problem. Battery gets drained within no time. All my money that i have spent on this phone wash into drain. See these issues before buying this phone or i will simply say. DON'T BUY THIS PHONE.

  • You guys dont know what you are talking about! Use GPS tuner 5.1 rev C make your own Maps that no other phone will let you Install. Keep in mind its not your desktop computer so dont think you can do everything on it at one time. 64 MB RAM gives you ample memory to use GPS and windows media and thats all you can use at any one time.

  • This phone is utter, utter rubbish. It repeatedly cuts out in the middle of calls. The GPS takes forever to find satellites and often won't sync at all (Other GPS's in the vicinity have no problem). The keyboard is very fiddly. When using GPS the battery drains v rapidly. Often the whole phone crashes and reboots for no apparent reason. Sometimes the system performs a reboot and loses all settings, going back to a factory condition. AAARRGGG! It has let me down almost every time I have relied on it. Never again will I get a) phone with a Windows OS on it or b) HP. HP must have known about the lack of reliability and stability but they still foisted it on an unsuspecting public. Shame on them. Total and complete rubbish that doesn't work as a PDA and is useless as a reliable phone - a (large) waste of money. Avoid like the plague....

  • i was happily using hp model:hw6515e until n unless was posed an issue with the back body panel broken, charges & battery malfunctioning, but i dont know whom to & where to approach????im based in ahmedabad gujarat. If someone can help me i would be really thankful & appreciate the gesture.

  • ialso own that phone dont buy it because it gets hand and never works faster and no software works on it.y buying it will be a headache for you.It is better to continoun with nokia e series

  • Can this phone be used on any network provider or they got specific networks they work on

  • Now I'm going to buy the iPAQ 6516 at only MR500 (M'sian Ringgit) frm friend of mine. He bought the set at MR2400 (new model) at Jan 08 and I do suspect something might went wrong with the phone I think. I almost to make a dicision either to keep my Nokia E9300i or sell it back just to get the iPAQ. Anyone can advise me?

  • I bought an Ipaq 6515 for my wife for her birthday Dec 07. It died in Feb 08, it was replaced under warranty but the second one was faulty with no backup battery showing. It would shut down and I would lose all stored info. (I was using it coz my wife was happier with her 10 year old nokia). The second one was replaced under warranty, the third one I now have is also faulty, battery lasts around 8 hrs and shuts down at 30%. I believe that the warranty people for Australia are just rotating the faulty phones out to people, so my faulty phone has gone out to some other sucker who they hope wont notice the problem till too late. I have asked for my money back on both the phone and Tomtom software and will never buy HP ipaq again. I have yet to get am answer on return of money but will take it to consumer affairs if they dont. Do NOT buy this piece of crap or any other Ipaq. I have now reverted back to my 10 year old Nokia, at least it works.

  • my phone is not turning on anymore buut the light indiacator for charging is coming on as red, what will i do, please help.....thanks!!!

  • I have TomTom 6.0 loaded, but after a couple of boots/uses, the phone mic shuts off, making the phone useless. Hard reset cures it, but once the TomTom reboots it happens again - something to do with the TomTom voices...... any similar problems or suggestions? Other than that, I love it!!

  • Hi guys i have this cell but i have mic problem and windows how can i upgrade

  • Its good but how can i upgrade with windows 6

  • for upgrade to wm5 try this link: it's cool but don't try upgrade to wm5.1pro...it's too risk.

  • Search, and you will find that even Tomtom 7 is running smooth with the latest maps, 725..... It should be installed like on a mio 162 or most other pda. You will only loosse your sound, this can be repaired by changing the name of the file btcorelf to btfcorelfold and perform a soft reset. This file in your windows folder (menu show all files) Good luck... it's easy and will run perfectly. I use TTN_v7.451.9033_QVGA_Black you can downloadit and you should use a tt8_keygen2 with a meta file to activate your tomtom maps.

  • Can i upgrade my hw6515 with windows mobile 5 and how? Thanks

  • This i paq is wicked. it has everything you will ever need.

  • God this phone is ugly.

  • During an upgrade attempt of ROM from 1.12.00 to 1.22.39 on ipaq 6515h (using a patch available at HP), the ROM has been destroyed and all indications are that I need a full ROM flash. Does anyone know where to get a full ROM for 6515h?

  • I agree partially with you. Although the battery cover problem can be resolved. After an extensive search I found that there is an overly sensitive switch under the battery which gets triggered off accidentally. Just insert scraps of paper and the problem gets resolved. You can search it on Google and find a site with pictures explanation.

  • You can install Real One player too. Then you can play a wider range of file extensions

  • The red light means the battery cover is missing or one of the "feet" of your battery cover is missing. buy a new battery cover at ebay ($6.00 + shipping) and get our ipaq working again.

  • Could some tell me what video format is gonna play on my phone, i can only play MP3 on it.

  • i have this phone 3 years ago and anyone can suggest where to find 240x240 compatible software, i saw 320x240 is the most.

  • if you having problem with 6515 mistyping keyboard, it's coming from the ipaq software. there's no other way, you must hard-reset the unit. i never found myself succeed with manual hard reset, so you better download PHM Task Manager, it's freeware and have hard reset function on it. If you found 6515 speaker doesn't sounds even the volume is max, it mean the 6515 handsfree/headset socket bit confuse, the 6515 think that there's earphone being use, that why it become silent. You need to plug in the headset jack, round it inside to get the sounds back

  • No, not worth it! it's an expensive piece of junk!(I had two and had lots of problems wit them). It's all because of: 1)Windows CE which is very Crappy! 2)Poor design of battery cover which after a while will cause the unit to shut itself down multiple times during a day! Go for a unit with a non-Windows OS like Blackberry or iPhone!

  • I have used this IPAQ for 1 year, Most of the time it hangs when multiple calls comes. And then all the setting gown have to take backup of contacts messages.

  • i use a iPaq too..its shuts of coz the fone has a setup where when the back cover is opened it switches off.. so check if your back cover is loose

  • i have hp ipaq hw6515.first time its ok but now after 8th month later its random goes to power off and when i press on button then its goes to on.a few times later its again power off.again when press on button then on. all the times its show this problems.its sometimes do after one or two hours later.

  • Hi for anyone who has the ipaq 6515 with the problem of switching off or rebooting all the time here is a link to fix this problem. Regards, Johnwa

  • I had this phone for four months, and now it out for the count... The back piece cover does not stay on and with that the phone does ot stay on.... but the phone is cool though

  • Hi I want to buy this phone and would like to know that is it worth its amount???????? a Quick responce would be highly appreiciated

  • I've had problems with the Ipaq 6515 such as random shutdown and the red light of death. Fortunately, I've found a solution to all these problems and decided at long last to put the Ipaq 6515 fix up on my web site :

  • I have noticed many questions about upgrading Windows version. The answer to that is a big NO! The hardware of iPAQ 6515 will not support Windows Mobile 5.0 or higher. That’s the reason they have come up with iPAQ 6515e which support 5.0 and can not be upgraded to 6+

  • The advanced PDA as it uses windows OS, which we get addicted vary easily. The worst hp technology No question, its a real waist of money. Once you use this hp product, you will never buy any hp product. Worst in terms of technology, service, and response. Try to use it the maximum and through it away. Next time buy IMATE. You use can use it as a fixed mp3 player with some speakers attached. As we know that the hp doesn’t provide the spare you may buy the iPAQ battery from ebay.com (I bought my iPAQ 6515e battery from the ebay seller allianze2006. I recommend this seller a trusted one)

  • my ipaq 6515 keeps restarting on its own and its speakers' quality are simply bad n fragile; I changed the speakers twice in a year. I would recommend other pda phones over ipaq. What a waste of money!

  • this phone keep goes off, I have to turn on lots time to reboot,, I will give to my kid for toy

  • Can i upgrade my hw6515 with windows mobile 5? Thanks

  • After having spent more than US $600 on repairs (twice) , this mobile phone still does not work properly. It keeps switching off, and you have to reboot it every time,I will not even advice my enemies to buy the HP6515. Total waste of money, peace of mind and saddled with a piece of junk.

  • i saw u guys can overclock this pda phone to 6915 speed or even 500+ mhz speed how to overclock pda cpu? via bios or some guru software? i am no stranger in desktop computer overclock but this pocket pc i really need overclocking guide thx in advance

  • Hi, I bought HP IPAQ hw6515a 6515 and it can charge only through USB by using the cradle. If I connect the AC power to the Cradle and have the USB disconnected, then it wont charge. The Batter is fine and the cradle is also tested ok as I have 3 of these. The problem confronts to the phone. Are there any fix to this? Please let me know. Regards Sinu Thomas Chacko.

  • This phone is very good exept one think, it thurns off every 15 min.

  • what kinda format does it play videos

  • Red light of death solution: leaving the ipaq on the cradle is not a good idea, as it drastically reduces the battery life. Charge while synchronising and then remove. I changed battery and was also faced with the red light. Seeing the ipaq tries to start up then switch off again, time and time again, showed the (new) battery was dead. So you need to charge it without the ipaq starting up. Simple: insert battery but don't put the cover on, then hook up to the charger. After some time, let's say an hour, put on the cover, do a soft reset and then hook up the charger again. tada!

  • I bought this phone about a year back and is the worst phone I have ever owned. It downed my money. It has poor sound quality and never works when you want it to. Reboots arbitrarily and never comes up for long. The keys are clumsy and not quite usable. Overall the phone has been a pain and unreliable - to even use some of the advanced features !

  • Drodough - I don't think you can use the T-Mobile service if u've bought the device for Cingular service. U just need to have the battery changed; or format the phone. I had the same problemwise and the technician told me that the principal is the same with a PC. if u've left the PC or phone so long without using it, u have to format the whole thing....

  • anyone can give me a favour on my 6515 whom always hang? tried a lot of soft and hard reset on the machine... but still in vain... SOS....SOS... SOS...

  • Hi, I have hp iPAQ 6515e, which come with windows mobile 2003 2nd edition. I never upgrade software before. it always hangs. So I plan to upgrade software. I have no idea how to do it? Does anyone share knowledge with me? Thanks in advance.

  • BEST PDA TILL NOW among the ones I hv used. no cons at all. :)

  • Can i upgrade my hw6515 with windows mobile 6? Thanks

  • absolutely amazing piece of work, part of my life now, totally reliable, very useful, possibilities with this fone are endless

  • I paid $600 for this in 6-06 and never froze or anything. I never downloaded extra software, I just used microsoft word and media player though. However, I just moved and left it off the charger for about 8 months. When I put it back on the charger a red light would blink and the screen would turn on for 3 seconds and off for 6 seconds. And repeat this pattern 24/7. I administered a soft reset and a hard reset, but nothing worked. Neither would the phone connect to my computer to activesync via the usb port. Please give me some advice. I bought this phone on cingular service but will now try use this phone with T-mobile, is this even possible.

  • Greetings, I own an ipaq hw6515e. I was looking for a battery and came across your message post. The device has very excellent features. But reliability seems to be 0. Since buying the device, I have been given 2 replacements. The first device did not recognise bsnl sim card, hp at Chennai tried to give me a refurbished device as second replacement. Since I refused to accept, I was given a new device. Hp Chennai could not help me even in configuring the device. (The service engineer knows only to switch on and off and soft and hard reset the device. If that doesnt work, he switches himself off as the device itself!) That took me quite a few days. The device worked well for a few months. I bought navigation software from mapasia. (Not that I needed a navigation map for Chennai. I just wanted to see how the GPS worked). All landmark buildings in the Chennai map have the same name! The roads are ok. As soon as you open the navigation software, it searches for a com port. I have not been able to find out about it. You also need a GPRS with unlimited download. The GPS software needs to refresh every two days. Now the device keeps turning off, but the phone signal is working. That beats me. I really cant figure out how to use the phone if the device is not working! I assume the battery is packing up. I looked up the hp site with the battery part no., and it is not there!!!!!!! Since buying, this device has taken up a lot of my time just to get it working. I hope you dont have the same problems. I would really like to see one good working 6515.

  • Hi to 6515 gurus!!!! Someone let me know if i can use this hw6515e has inbuilt GPS receiver. I am planning to use satguide.in GPS system.

  • How is the GSM reliability? I own an iPAQ 6340 and the GSM keeps hanging, it works for 2, sometimes even 5 hours okay after that it "hangs" where I am unreachable but I see the connection all fine. The only way to tell is to try making a call. Disabling/enabling the GSM module does not help, I have to soft-reset. I called HP they say it's a problem of WM 2003. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? I want this as my mobile phone and reliability is my #1 issue. Thank you. P.S. the.me, could you please post your email or drop me a note, you sound like someone with a lot of experience, I have some questions... thanks

  • Still using this model for 2+ years in and out, with 'breaks' when i tried other PPCs, but usually after few days i always come back to my old trusty 6515 LOL Yes, I have voted higher on TYTN once, but after a month (the longest 'break' in past 2 years when i used other PPC) I simply found myself in need of MAP and directions, and thats when I laid off TYTN and used 6515 and its GPS again ;) It is not perfect and it has its flaws too (but so did all other PPCs I had, and I had 13 models already). However the size is as big as I can agree upon, and keyboard is as small as I can accept. Well balanced. I had (still have - I dont return toys ;) ) 6945 model with WM5. Big disappointment compared to 6515 - mainly for the storage. On 6515 I used to carry 4GB miniSD and 4GB SD cards = total of 8GB storage (now i have 8gb SD card instead of 4gb, and yes it is SDHC type - just reformat it in FAT32 on PC and its back to being normal SD ;) and yes this ipaq see it and reads/writes to it all the way to the end). So thats 12 GB of storage. Cant do it on 69xx models since they have only single miniSD slot, and those cards still come in 4GB size max unfortunately.

  • Hello everybody, I bought this HP iPAQ 6515e 2 years back. I have been having a lot of problems with it. Some of those have been already mentioned by others in this forum. Most prominently my phone keeps dropping calls and I have to frequently make calls again and again. I have verified and concluded that it is not a network problem. Also the battery life is extremely poor and the phone keeps restarting on its own. The phone also cannot catch the network well. I complained to HP about the same and after due verification the gave me a brand new piece as my phone was still in warranty. However the replacement is no better anyways. It has all the problems that I mentioned above and now that the phone is out of warranty I'm finding it difficulty getting spares. I'm desperately looking for a replacement battery and battery cover. Can anybody help me get these? also I would be very happy to hear from people who had these problems and have solutions for the same. Thanks in advance Sam

  • I have spectec WLAN (802.11b) card, can anyone help me in using WLAN feature in HPipaq hw6515e device. Also let me know where can i find the third party software for WLAN feature.

  • Bought this hw6515 for almost a month and I would rate it my BEST PDA and mobile phone ever. Loaded tons of softwares and is now my so call everything in one... LiveTV, Internet Radio, Web browser, GPS and best of all I clocked up the CPU speed to 416MHz (same as hw6915) since they are using the same processor and after popping in a 2500mAh battery, it is still lighter than the hw6915 LOL !!!

  • My iPaq does not start up any more. Tried everything, hardreset, softreset, with and without battery, with and without AC adapter. No luck. Any suggestions? I would highly appreciate this.

  • hanging problem= due to backup battery contact problem situated between 2 layer of IC board. Get sandpaper and pass it to HP SC to sand off the corroded surfaces.

  • hi dude, I am using HP iPAQ nd m facing a lot of problems like as hanging problem, it gets switched off automatically.

  • i hv been using this phone for quite some time. i hv a lot of problems with external/ third party softwares. due to the screen size, im not able to use a lot of softwares which i hv previously been using. i did not anticipate this problem eventhough i was fully aware that the screen is square. if there is anyway to resolve this matter, please let me know as this is a great phone aside from the fact that the screen is SQUARE!

  • Hi i got this phone a year back. great piece i must say. It does all what you can expect from a PDA. However HP as a company sucks. All it did was create this peice of art,but thats it.. no after sales, no spare parts available even so all their support website addresses are fake. Dissapointing. So I suggest do not go for it if you are expecting any enhancements on this phone. HP is good to make printers only...

  • Hey all...! I just bot this PDA... well I felt something strange while charging it with USB. When I charge it thru USB in "slow charge", the memory further dips. Is it so ???? While it increases when i change the mode to "fast charge". Has anybody noticed it ???? PLS HELP ...!!! Thnks, Vikas

  • I just bought this phone 3 months ago. It works great, but until today, after I installed the software Omega One, 1-Journal Bar. This unit frozen, and won't boot any more even with hard reset, removes battery. It only shows the boot screen with HP logo. Please help! to get my unit up and running. Thank you in advance.

  • be careful! had one, loved it, until upon plugging into the dock to charge it wouldn't dock- because the little tiny "prongs" inside the plug decide to bend! WAY TO DELICATE stick with the mini usb or something beefier! any way hp wanted $255.00 to replace the mother board, I don't think so. btw, they didn't tell me about "icare" insurance until after the fact. -this was my second unit, the first one locked up permanently, - both units were refurbs from cingular. so now i have a treo 650 and hate it more. can any one show me a pda with gps and ms os and durability? God bless.

  • im using this phone have been two months, i have my cell blocked with password and i dont have it. now im after help to solve this issue

  • I updated the hw6515 ROM to 1.2 and it seems to be stable.......no more freezing or anything. Also, I'm using TOMTOM6 and it works excellent. Also, I tweaked the clock speed to 520 Mhz which boosted the performance a lot(with lower battery life though). Sorry, to see you guys are having nightmare!

  • I have this phone for over a year now. I don't like the ring tone (not loud enough). I love the alarm feature. It is easy to set it. But I hate it becuase it freezes on my more and more these days. I would expect a call, and look at it a few minutes later, found the thing to be off, and miss a ton of calls. Also, the GPS does not work at all for me. I bought several softwares, from asia to the U. S. The camera is bad news. The PDA portion is OK though.

  • I forgot: there is no voice dialing. The 3rd party programs, such as Vito Voice2Go can not be integrated with the dial button of the headset (no matter if cable headset or bluetooth ). So the phone is a bit useless while driving a car !

  • I have been using this phone since 6 months now . What can I say: - It freezes very very very often ! When it is in stand-by and I click the POWER button it does not go ON - it's frozen. In the meanwhile the GSM operator plays the message - subscriber's phone is not switched on ! Some days it freezes 5-6 times a day, sometimes I can get 4-5 days without a single freeze. - Very often it restarts when I am using it . - The battery performance is very poor. When I go somewhere for the weekend I am carrying with me a charger, a car charger, a 9 volt battery charger... - The GPS receiver is very unaccurate - in the so called "City cannyons" the performance is awful. In most of the time the signal is lost, or there are 5 satellites in range but one update of the location goes for 30-60 seconds, even 2 minutes. This means that in big cities it's impossible to use this device as in 80% of the time you skip turns and then you have to go back or wait tomtom to recalculate the next possible route. - The speed of the device is variable: sometimes its working fast. Sometimes without any reason it's getting slow: it was idle for 1 hour, than I click on "Calendar" and I have to wait for 30 seconds for the application to pop up. - Before the ROM update from 21 July 2006 the device was connecting to the GSM network for 5-6 minutes !!!!!! Totally unacceptable ! In Sofia, Bulgaria the device connects to the GSM network immediatelly - for less than 30 seconds. In O2 - Germany - I had to wait for 5-6 minutes ... in the meanwhile there is a message: Phone not yet ready. Please wait 15 seconds and try again. After the update the device connects to all networks without problems. - The camera is very poor. Photos can be taken only on daylight. And in 90% of the cases the quality is veeery poor. - The SD slot works with 4 GB SD cards which is cool. There is an additional miniSD slot for 1 more GB card. - The keyboard looks not very convenient, but after 2 days you get used to it and it's pretty cool. Currently I am looking forward to replace this stupid phone with HTC TyTN. Main reasons: - freezes often - GPS is usable only in small towns and on the highway. In big cities its useless. I hope this helps to the people that might have decided to buy this piece of s**t. HP says they have fixed the bugs in ipaq 6919, but who needs it anyway - there is no UMTS, and with the WIFI probably the battery performance is even poorer !

  • yes, u can change language, with flash. go to www.hp.com.... u will find there the rom update. u will need a craddle or sync cable. take around 20min. enjoy

  • I've bought it 4 month ago and have it brought back to the shop four times, the HP is resetting it's self frequently, today two times and after replacing the motherboard, the microphone was out of order, also after a repair (poor service). • Guys, I'm left handed, so scrolling down web pages with the scroll bar on the right is a nightmare as my hand covers the screen. Is there any software out there that can allow me to move the scrollbar to the left of the screen? Thanks in advance

  • I brought this device thinking I was buying the state of the art PDA / phone. I found the menu functions very un-user-friendly and complex (like everything was hidden and not obvious). Within 3 days the cradle (to charge and sync) failed and the error code 608 came up. Checking the hp support site - it was not listed, and they never replied to my email outlining the fault - poor service. I ended up losing my contacts as I couldn't hotsync or save them to the memory card. I found the keyboard annoying compared to the touch screen..Very dissappointed for the price paid - took it back for refund. Now looking at JASJAR?

  • Hey guys. Does any one know how to rewrite ROM on it. Or just change default language. • For Jamil Ahmed GPS Receiver = ground positioning system. That is it tells you where on the planet earth you are at any moment. Giving you the location azimuth ie co-ordinates on Earth. If you have a street map it will show you where the best restaurants, hotels etc are and show you the way. You never get lost with a GPS.

  • the best device available today on the market, it has it all, push email (depends on your sp...) wifi capable (with the card) and 2, yes 2 cards, i love it, who needs an ipod or a navigation system when you have this.... thank you HP !!

  • I have had the 6515 since it came out in the UK in June 2005.. rev C. If you think it's too big for an everyday phone then why not get yourself a girly phone.. Oh and have you ever heard of a BT headset? This Phone/PDA/GPS/Camera fits in your shirt pocket and you don't get an everyday phone with a screen that size with all the features it packs. I have a SDIO wirless card so I can connect to any open network I walk past, to check my emails etc. and it is capable of WEP/WPA encryption also, which enables me to connect to my home WiFi router. I also have a Gig mini SD in it so I can watch Films play MP3's blah blah blah. To top it off I also have the HP BT headphones for that qualtity sound without wires. I don't think I will trade it in for the 6900 as the SDIO slot is missing and takes away that little bit of extra functionality. My 6515 is practically indistructable dropped it 4 times, it is a bit scuffed around the edges but still work perfectly. I advise getting one of those silicon rubber cases, they are like a body glove for the device. Looks good, protects and hides any scratches if you have dropped it. To sum up.. if you want something that does everything, then get one of these. That's about it..

  • calling all gurus of 6515 1. how to set up ringtone (mp3 etc) 2. how to use picture as a background/wallpaper 3. how to change theme.... thanks a lot....

  • It is not a good device, my revision hw6515c for example don't have ROM upgrade so the phone don't work ok. It hangs all the time and don't forward calls. I call HP and they don't have solution. GPS works with TOMTOM but they don't have my map area. I do not recomend. Buy a Treo 650.

  • It is not a good device, my revision hw6515c for example don't have ROM upgrade so the phone don't work ok. It hangs all the time and don' GPS works with TOMTOM but they don't have my map area.

  • I just ordered the ipaq HW6515 can anyone suggest which Bluetooth Headset works best? I cuurently have the Treo 650 and its plagued with Bluetooh issues....

  • I can't wait to get mine, its on order through my employer (a Major carrier in Australia). Once I get it and its all done, i'll vote and so fourth. :)

  • I just got this phone about a month ago, and I am just getting used to it. I can say it's a little quirky to get setup initally, but once it's done, you can't beat the features. PROS: -Using TOMTOM Navigation software with the GPS feature is AWESOME. Throw away that MS pocket streets. I was looking at the Magellan Roadmate and Garmin GPS's that sell for over $800 each, so this alone can make the price of the HW6515 a steal. I have used many GPS's and this TOMTOM software on here is dead-on accurate with perfect voice prompts. It even has accurate traffic updates & wrecks if you enable it. -MS Voice Software works well for voice dialing and announcing caller id's. This is nice since I can not figure out how to assign a particular ringtone to an individual caller. -It works great with a 2 GIG Mini-SD card for watching MP4 movies (with the right player) as well as storing all of your MP3 songs. - Add an external WIFI Card for the extra SD slot and you'll be surfing high speed with everyone else. CONS: -It is hard to use just as a "phone". You can not hold down a number key for one touch speeed dial which I miss. -Sometimes when using the GPS and/or watching a movie, you simply can't answer a call. It just kinda "locks up" Typical Windows. - The battery power is dismal. As posted before using the PDA all day checking your email and such with the backlight on, you can barely get 8 hours work of power. Listening to MP3's - Forget about it. I find myself charging it every chance I get. I just ordered a new high capacity battery, so I hope it will help. -Most all apps, games, themes are for the bigger PDA screens so they do not work well on the smaller screen on HW6515. - So far there is no IR Remote control software that works with the hw6515 that I have found to work with your TV and such. Hope that helps some of you. I wouldn't trade it for all it does, I can put up with the quirks.

  • ok verry good

  • Just got this two days ago. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! I spent two hours with my provider configuring the MMS and GPRS settings, and it was like each time you created a new setting, the system resets itself and goes back to another setting. Anyway, after 2 hours, only the MMS was working. Tried to configure the email and GPRS the next day, GPRS keeps reverting to some other setting that I didn't put in, and even after multiple hard resets and hours with mobile provider customer support, (couldn't remove the wrong settings) the setting would still be there. Called HP customer service, got some heavy overseas accent who didn't know what was the problem, kept saying "You input the right numbers, the phone will work!", and said that my email login and pswd was dependant on my mobile provider and not the email server. They were very happy to send me away with those answers. Graphics was also slow, and its kinda funny seeing how remnants of the phone menu would appear on the "today" menu. Sound quality was ok though, but phone was really heavy, (tried using it with bluetooth) coupled with a classless plastic stylus and plastic cover. Enough was enough, returned the device today.

  • And I noticed someone talking ringtones. Well, record your own... up to however long you want. Use SOTI pocket controller professional to transfer them and get them working and you have everything a ringtone fanatic could ever want. I currently have 1 minutes-worth of the A-Team as my ringtone. (Yes, I know I'm sick) but the possibilities are there.

  • This is a great little device IF you can work round the limitations. It will play any divx/mpeg4 video you throw at it (full screen) IF you get right software (which is FREE.. get that you iPod Video freaks!). How about automatically switching on your bluetooth headset? No problem with the right software. It uses TOMTOM to a TEE (pardon the pun...) So what else do you want it to do? Contacts? Reminders? Voice notes? Soduko? 2 (yes TWO) sim slots. It's just a great little gadget with screen limitations. Then get Nyidot virtual display... cool. Can you put up with that? I can. So go get one!!!!!!

  • i would like to know how long does the battery last, and if its a good phone, i would like to buy one.

  • This phone seeing the rom memory and the prosessor IS NOT A GOOG CHOCE.

  • This message is meant for all of the spammers that use e-mail addresses from GSMArena.com Don't bother sending me any "junk" mail. I will report you as a spammer, bounce your message, and block you. And I will not fall for your sob stories.

  • Hello again Everyone, One of the trade-offs with having Windows Mobile on your device, os that your ringers/ringtones are very limited. Is it possible to add ringers/ringtones to the device? How can I go about doing that? Where do I get them? I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. Please feel free to send me an e-mail.

  • Hi Everyone, I'm responding to the post I left on January 21, 2006. I had mentioned that I would be keeping my Palm Treo 650 and getting rid of my iPAQ hw6515. The reasoning behind that was that I felt the iPAQ hw6515, was simply too big. Since then I came to realize that the phone itself is not big. It's the case I had the phone in that made it feel big. The iPAQ hw6515, is a much better phone than the Treo 650. The iPAQ hw6515 is the best mobile device I have owned to date. You really cannot ask for more.

  • Does this have MP3? Does it sync with your computer weel?

  • I am very interested in this phone. I was wondering, is this a good choice? and can you surf the web.... that is one big questions. Please Contact me at [email protected]

  • Hi Everyone, I've been using a HP iPAQ hw6515 for about two weeks now. It's a really great device. The only negative I find is the size. When you use it as a phone, it feels like you're putting a brick against your ear. It's simply too big. I'm pretty much decided to stick with the Palm Treo 650 I also have. Let me know if you agree that the unit simply does not feel like a phone. Thanks. -Telly L.

  • yes you can edit all document's file(word'power point'adobe pdf'...) whit it. but this pda have'nt radio or other cover

  • can i change the covers on the phone? mine is scratched badly

  • does it have radio?

  • Can it edit Word docs?

  • What is the solution to poor battery/power delivery ?

  • This phone is great....................................... As the great stan lee would say......NUFF SAID!

  • Can i connect with the criddle to my laptop, somehow I am not able to configure that..Can anyone suggest, how its done

  • It has pretty decent specs, but the device is pretty slow and hanngs a lot considering it has a very speed processesor, there is something wrong in its software... And can hp do without the keypad it so that it can have a big screen like hp previous pda phones... WAKE UP!!!! HP.....this is pda phone is a failure!!!!!!!!!

  • If only this has WLAN feature.....dream on....

  • just got this PDA for a week. its a standard PDA. with software side, it performed a bit slow with compare to O2 XDA Mini. maybe is due to the processor speed. there is one disappointed point. i bought this phone is due to the keyboard, so that i can write sms, search contact etc with only one hand. but when i perform all this with one hand, it seems like can not hold it properly, becoz the "OK" key was on the lower right.. hard to explain, just to try with a demo unit... then u will realise it..

  • Real cool device, but installign gps can be pretty challenging.Gprs is greatt with d device. personally i will rate this device 5 on a scale of 1-10.

  • Bought the phone a few months ago...sweet...a tad slow but...still works pretty well...if you're looking for a pda/phone and is sick of wielding the damn stylus everytime you recieved an sms...this is it...by the way, the camera is useless in low light conditions..and most softwares are difficult ( or bot possible at all) to use due to its "squarish" screen limitation... and if you're in the Philippines..it's P42,000.00 bucks maaan!

  • HW6515 is a greatest PDA Phone so far by its size and GPS reciever built in. No wifi but Edge connection a more than good enough to check email or quick download from internet and no need to hunt for hot spot. Still hungry for wifi? SD Wifi card is an alternate option since this has dual SD slots. Dressing up with Vaja case will look very owsome...It's coming out soon though.

  • Thanks people, I was about to buy this charm-looking phone, but just discoverred its disadvatages here. I'd wait for the Sony Ericsson P990, but could be at higher price :)

  • Its available now in Canada on Rogers.com

  • Prospective buyers, (previously owned O2 Mini prior to switching to HP6515) Several worthy point to watch: The normal pocket pc themes will be displayed half when chosen as today screen however there is theme generator software to fix this problem slightly. The colour saturation of the display is not as nice as O2 mini The thumbpad light is strong enough in dark environment though abit small. respons quite good. The camera flash is good and better quality picture then o2 mini which have 1.3mp as well, though personally i don't like the camera screen prior to taking pics. Mp3 sound quality better and louder than O2 mini cheers!!!

  • Halley Walley, I bought this Phone, thinking about the GPS receiver and Thumboard and Square display. However, after using it for the first 30 days, I was slowly discovering the cons of this phone. Firstly, Yes, when you type fast with the thumbboard, the phone will not register/recognize the last letter u typed. But that is when u type it fast. But who don't? when they're accustomed to the feel of the keys already? Secondly, you could not really see the lighting behind the keys in dark environment. Well you can see, but only the top half. Thirdly, just compare the Display of this particular phone with O2 mini or XDA. you will notice that, if you install new wallpaper or themes, this phone will not show its full size, thus cutting half the picture. Well, compare it if u don't believe me. And, the speaker sound is rather soft, you can hardly hear anything in a crowded environment. TRUST me on all these. I used it, gave it a fair try and I finally exchanged this phone with W800. The good side of it. Well, This phone PDA features (of course, its Windows Mobile 2003 SE.) like tasks, and other to-do-list. ANd YES it has low battery life. I even turned the brightness to the lower, and it still consume the battery very much. Using bluetooth and GPS will further erode the batt's life. For those of you thinking of buying this Phone. Well, I don't object it, since you will be curious anyways, But i do advice you guys to look for Treo 670 in future or P990 and Nokia's recently announced E61.

  • I just bought the phone last month. The battery run out very fast. when on the phone,it is about 3/4 day the battery left on 10%.

  • hello guys, may i know is this handset really have poor thumbboard responsiveness and very low battery life?

  • it is such a nice phone.. i would love to have one like it..
