HTC U Play - User Reviews

  • Very Bad Battery !!!

  • Really dissappointed with battery life, it doesnt take more than 5 hours with very low usage. We replaced teh battery and even the main board , but stil the same story. Phone is great with performances and cameras but battery life ruins everything.

  • i am using HTC U PLAY from 2017, i was good for 1 year, after that ...... nowadays battery draining out very quickly..... getting hanged while playing whatsapp video or audio or sometimes whatsapp calls are coming. then we have to hold power button for long time to close it. phone will shutdown... after few minits only we can hold power button phone will sometimes switching on may be battery will be 0 %.......

  • htc u play very nice phone i like it, but the bad thing is, this very low capacity of battery i can't use it for more than a day.

  • my uplay is not bad but very slow needs an update ,which will never happen shame such a nice phone,,,

  • why until now I didn't get the software 7 or 8

  • I bought a HTC U Play Dual Sim not so bad. BUT 1- Screen looks bad under the sun, 2- Battery is bad, 3- while the camera works or playing games phone warming up 4- The HTC's software support is disgusting. Because they are preparing different roms for each country. Finally HTC said the future of updating but did not.

  • The front camera is not working, is all white, just these few days, after one year, after all other things ok, love it, but this problem came up, what is going on???

  • very good phone for price and spec

  • Good phone and fast Very good camera fast charging good screen and good for the price Battery live is ok not very bad at all Good memory 64 gb I use this phone for more than a month antil now it’s good for normal use

  • Battery life is shit... Below 5 hours in simple using

  • I went back to HTC after a stint with Samsung and the difference is astounding. The battery life is pathetic and after backwards and forwards with tech support the best way to fix this is not to use the phone, although that still drains the battery. It was then suggested if i was on wifi to turn off mobile data and if I was uaing mobile data to turn off wifi. I already have to do that with bluetooth and optimise all apps to try and get most of the day out of the battery and after 1 week the optimise battery life button is always on. But I still always fall short. The usb type c jack is also an issue. I have tried to get an adaptor to get earphones that fit but the adaptors do not work. Then while holding the supplied earphones in my phone went flat within 1 hour and I had no way to charge it. The phones screen is ok when inside, but if I go anywhere near outside I cannot see a thing. I am not happy at all with the phone and will gladly go back to Samsung!

  • I own a U Play and its not very good in comparison to other phones in the market at the same price point. i think u should consider other phones like Huawei

  • Is there any way I can buy this in Philippines? Cause the online shop is too expensive and Its not even discounting

  • am using last one year .. but the battery performance very bad..

  • this model features has very nyc but i hate battery of uplay review model

  • i had been used this htc u play since jan 2018 pros +the screen is nice, bright & clear +i can combine the memory to internal memory, right now im rocking with 128gb internal +rear camera quite nice, not that perfect +selfie, just nice +type c, fast charge, one hour to full charge +costume theme from htc +u sonic earphone is excellent +connectivity for 4G is tip top but the cons is -screen not very clear in direct sunlight -rear camera, sometimes it work and sometimes it just blurry - video is not so good - difficult to find accessories - battery life not that great just make it to the half day before i need to plug in - chipset is to slow, and not suitable for gaming, just for casual game - no update to android n neither nor to android o Conclusion - buy this phone, if you just want to open, fb, instagram, youtube and some light gaming - suitable for a casual user, not for heavy gamer and road warrior My Opinnion - Still a great phone, still working fine - will use this about two or three years, before i change to a new phone

  • No service show. How can I solve this problem.. plz help

  • I totally agree with @psst. I use this phone that i bought for 110 euro and i'm pretty happy with it. the end of day comes with 15% battery and thats good for my use. I love the look and feel of the device. You can't understand unless you see it. Your description is 100% accurate.

  • Oh!! We have a thing in common. I'm currently using htc one a9 (not s tho) and planning to buy the U play but still in doubt since i'm changing from "one" to the mid range one of "U". If it wasnt fr the battery and also camera as it fell down mutiple times already fr the past 18 months & got no stock fr technician to change it, i wouldnt hv thought to buy a new phone. So, is U play worth after all?

  • Pros: +cost - i got mine at about 150eur + 3gb ram ( not 4 as listed above) +good camera for this bux +smooth look and feel (thin) + headphones & their unique feature + works well under heavy apps ( photoshop, gaming) + superfast charge ( 40 minutes tops from 3% to 100%) cons : - since we are talking about HTC = 0 real support or care - ANDROID 6.0 and no further update or support from HTC ( last patch = NOV2017) - NO CUSTOM ROMS available - battery first month couldn't last 12 hours, but for the last 2 weeks it lasted even 1.5 days without gaming it would be great having at least Android 7 but for the money i spent, it's ok...ish

  • I hate the battery life of u play....

  • Just look at the Htc 10. U play is quite a mess. Htc can't make medium-class smartphones except u life and u11 eyes (which you can't get in my country btw.). Htc 10 is good successor of the One rule. I bought it in February 2017 and it still working smooth till now. If you're worrying about the camera-you can stop doing it because it's the first good camera in Htc ever. You can quote me on that.

  • im htc user and u play its the first htc phone that i have had. its great and its battery is also good for me becuase i work with this phone and i can say its the best phone that i have ever had:)

  • no more HTC for me - My old M8's camera has the known shakes issue, now my less than 8 month old U Play has another issue whereby it plays a few second horn tone through the speaker, thus blowing it and causing it to distort. - This issue is also reported on an HTC 10 - ...and now I read there's no Oreo update ? I hate to say it, but I'm going back to Samsung

  • They didn't update it to nogate till now , and you asked about oreo ?!!!

  • Worst one

  • Phone looks very nice, works nice, camera is also very good. Build quality is awesome, far better from it's price cousins. Interesting thing is, I have a sticker on my phone box which says: 3000mAh. It seams that HTC recognized battery issue and made a series with this capacity. So, my battery is not bad at all, it can work ~24h which is Ok in my case. Phone is not expensive anymore, so I can recommend it. We might also get Android update.

  • No update to Oreo, HTC confirmed it to me via a reply to my post on their Facebook page.

  • Any body facing problems to use two SIM cards

  • i am htc u play user...i dun think will get nougat update...so sad....

  • I'm still stuck with Android 6...

  • Does anyone have a problem with the USonic earphones (the ones included in the box)? When I use them, I always hear some buzzing sound regardless of USonic is on or off. I've tried many times re-setting the personal audio profile but it gives nothing. It's so annoying that I do not use these earphones at all. And I don't hear it when I use other Bluetooth earphones.

  • i sold my htc a9s to get this htc u play... very premium look n solid phone... many people say it have battery problem....but i open power saver mood whole day... it can longlasting one day without any charge....(p/s support fast charging...90 minute for full charge) selfie very good in this phone... this phone is not suitable for heavy gamer..because of their mediatek p10...but if u juz see fb ,instagram, youtube and see some news...it had no problem at all... htc usonic earphones come with the box...very good in music... phone made by TAIWAN... i get this phone in offer price...so far i am happy to have this little pretty phone....

  • The phone is great only problem is battery and android 6.0, im waiting for update fix battery problem

  • battery is very very poor, dont buy

  • Is this true? As I still haven't got naught.btry life is the only downside.but fast charging helps.but I wonder if this would be more better for the price

  • Battery like garbage, Dear don't buy this garbage phone i have very bad experience.

  • If you need to have network connection the battery will not keep you more than 10 hours ( just in stand by ) If you want to play on it, or use the GPS.....no way to be content. I recomand this phone . And for the battery truble , it can be usefull an external battery

  • Me too,still on 6.0

  • I have it from last 6 month's and still I didn't get the update , the OS is 6.0 !!! I have contact HTC but they keeping saying soon ... its this last time buy from HTC

  • Yes short battery life I use my on power save mode and I'm satisfied, can do maybe two days but moderate use.overall very good device for the price

  • noooooooo!!!!

  • i bought it in last week. Good performance.. But Battery life is too short . i am getting only 12 hours. i am doubted it is only in my device or every device have the same...? kindly reply

  • Poor phone and low quality too expensive for a mid range phone. Only has glossy finish. Dont expect any upgrade.

  • keep dreaming for an update

  • Is it better than j7 pro? (The camera)

  • It's going to be great, because Oreo is coming for this model

  • read news again, htc already updated some models with nougat

  • i used to pay attention to specs, compare this one to my current one a9 by htc. finally i grabbed the U Play and that is my right decision mediatek is not bad at all. the phone with android 6 but runs really smooth, all the functions work well and the camera is just wonderful for the price it is reqlly high but you have a really classy design, comparable to galaxy S or Note.

  • There is no corning gorilla glass on this phone the screen scratches by almost anything .

  • with a mediatek processor never expect software version upgrades and on top of that you have bought an HTC so no nougat update for you

  • Nougat update?

  • No,only sim+sim OR sim+memory card

  • No..

  • Can u use 2 SIM cards and memory card in the same time or one sim plus sd only ? Thx in advance

  • It costs 149 Eur as of 22.12.2017 in Europe

  • They have no gallery why

  • excellent.........loving it to every bit

  • This phone not like your garbage phone. It made with high quality and very very good software, and best music quality...Yeah seems expensive for rival brand phone, but this is HTC!Do not compare to other devices, specialy bad material garbage phone.

  • Hi guys iam planing to buy this phone for 30000/- please give a feedback about the phone

  • Did you receive Nougat upgrade?????

  • 4 GB ram good But Battery not good

  • I try to use 64 gb sdcard. After sometime may be after 1or2 hours it is showing SD card unexpectedly removed..... Any solution......

  • I have the phone about two weeks from now i would say it depends on user to say what's good and bad about it some say that The battery is bad but you have a fast charging more than Enough the size is berfect the screen is awesome the camera is very good both front and back only my problem is the os it stock at marshmallow the one way type c for charging and headphones is a nother problem for me i don't know about other users but i would buy it again or have u ultra

  • This phone is really good in terms of being resistant against scratches (both front and back).

  • (Corning Gorilla Gen. 3)

  • good fone missing 3.5 audio jeck

  • Can someone one confirm if the glass is scratch resistance( gorilla glass which version ?) ? Also if the fingerprint scanner is scratch resistance the camera lense and LED light . Thanks. In advanced

  • Can someone one confirm if the glass is scratch resistance( gorilla glass which version ?) ? Also if the fingerprint scanner is scratch resistance the camera lense and LED light . Thanks. In advanced

  • Hi everyone It’s a not bad phone , only thing it’s stuck on Android 6 due to issues with android 7 with the CPU. Can anyone confirm if you have a look closerly at the LED flash near the camera, can you see a line on a angle going from top to bottom , its very fine but looks like a manufactured flaw ?

  • yeah..it seems so...it's still on 6.0...and it will remain like that forever it seems

  • Oh no IP68 water resistant rating but no 3.5mm headphone jack, what is wrong with u. Don't do good machines and still spoil our feelings. That alone can be a deal breaker for many. I am now inderstanding it that samsung is the best, they do great phones in excellence.

  • Everything is perfect except the rear camera and the battery life... otherwise its a very good phone...

  • I used u play battery life very poor Just 3 hours only

  • I think that the u play is worth it, cause it costs only 249€ in Finland.

  • But U Play seems not to have the update to Nougat, correct?

  • But updates seem slow for ZTE phones. And the Axon 7 Mini seem quite hefty/heavy with all that metal body.

  • For updates go for g5 plus. For good build quality, audio and display, go for axon 7 mini. But if you want a good looking phone, and don't mind sacrificing a headphone jack for a brand name, get the u play. I have the axon 7 mini. Can't find fault with it. Only 249 quid

  • What I don't like about this phone is ;- 1- you can't charge and listen to music at the same time. 2- in snapchat when people u follow record it's not clear, but when they take a pic its clear I do not get it. 3- camera the quality is not good as Samsung because I am Samsung fan and I can see the difference. Anyway I bought this phone for 400$ and if I can go back with time I will definitely buy (s7 or note 5). But I really like the design looks awesome

  • I have started to plan for replacing my old Moto G4. And in terms of long-term value, camera performance (no lag) & quality, multitasking & app opening (no reload), speakers output, lightweight body & hand comfort, the most bands & frequencies (especially the UK & Europe) and the most important which are constant & continous updates which would u choose: HTC U Play ZTE Axon 7 Mini Moto G5 Plus

  • I don't think it is worth buying. 2500 mAh is very week capacity.

  • is this phone worth buying????? it is the battery that concerns me........ although i don't use phone much and don't play games either.......but still is it ok to buy this phone with 2500 mAh battery?????? any suggestions please..........

  • Bought htc u play scrap New launch high cost with shitti battery life and still not upgradeable to android 7 Only good thing is fast charging and screen Overall im never going to buy htc again Dont want to hurt any one but i have to share my honest feelings after wasting this much money on shitti scrap Thanks

  • In Germany, this already dropped from € 449 to € 279. Seems like nobody is interested in buying it because of the low specs. I think € 100 will be a great price for it

  • hi bros. some liar and other brands fan came here and wrote the big lies about ths phone and htc. this phone has usb type c,yhe latest and the best connector for mobiles and exist the great headphone with type c support in the box. who said connect headphones just with bluetooth??????? for sure he/she is a big liar and want to destroies htc. if other lagging phone makers used type c and htc doesnt.then they said type c is the best and.... but now .... no worry about type c usb connector and headphone.the best headphone with type c is exist in the box and don't listen to liar and other brand fans

  • what about the heeting issue

  • It is really fast, awesome and very good looking.when yoy take it yoy will agree with me that this phone is very pleasantamd runs every programs with no lag or delay. both camera shots great especially in day light. And about battery.it has 2500mah but it is really good and stands one day with heavy usage.why?it is easy to understand. U play has 4*1.1ghz cpu those save battery.also 4*2ghz runs every heavy programs and games. Htc ui is the best ui in android.if want U Play go for it with no doubt

  • It is really good and fast.also n

  • Type c headphone in the box itself

  • Hi only by bluetooth headphones.

  • HTC has a history of good performing devices with Mediatek processors, most of their models which have snapdragon processors are the ones which have let the company down.

  • No dought sanapdragon is much much better than mediatek

  • It's had a price drop of Rs 10k in India. Costs around Rs 30k.

  • Let's stop the hate and the salt fellas. This phone actually looks stunning and my friend got one the other day and it is actually surprisingly pleasant to use. So at the start, I hated this phone too, now I'm on the positive side of this phone...

  • Away from all sophistications, complications and boastful features which nobody can realize it or use it... This is a true smartphone which fits in one hand, sizeable and powerful, considerably sized battery for its size and most of all elegant. I respect Mediatek CPU.. USED it a couple of times and though slightly slower exploring speed, but have more stamina and preserve your battery.. Also works well with Android than snapshit

  • Very nice phone

  • Ooh, 2500 mah battery, awesome i think it will last a whole hour. Thank you htc, you finally realized your mistake was the battery and now reduced it even more. Bravo. I really like to meet the guy behind these ideas.

  • I'm not talking about looks . It's so Damn outdated specs sheet

  • This phone is very nice. Who does not like it, he won't a taste: P

  • Flop phone . U ultra was also flop . It's not 2012 . I don't like HTC phones any more .

  • Low specs with high price

  • why not use snapdragon 625? i will definitely buy this if using snapdragon 625

  • Stupid price for helio p10 should be x20 is more reasonable

  • Yes its good for what u pay...nice phone.

  • no headphone socket. how's headphones used?

  • Can anyone have experience using this phone to comment? Thank you.

  • No headphone jack Helio P10 400$ No. Just No.

  • I find such shops - indicate which you speak?

  • Here, in Bulgaria, an EU country the cheapest stores sell it for about 630-640 bulgarian levs, which is about 310-320 euros.

  • Which store A5 2017 cost 300 euros?

  • yeah right, A5 2017 is much much cheaper, about 30% cheaper than U Play. Currently the lowest price of U Play is about 450 euros, while A5 2017 is about 300-320 euros max. For 450 euros you can get proper flagmans like Huawei P9 or Galaxy S7 ffs!

  • The phone is a direct competitor of Samsung A5 2017, which is the same price, but it is better than this.

  • They are selling this underpowered piece of crap for 500 euros here, in Bulgaria !!!!

  • Probably has not FM radio because has not 3,5 jack. The headphones are the antenna of FM radio, so...

  • It doesn't have java. Is that a huge disadvantage?

  • Malaysia

  • Where you from?

  • It costs 600 euros in here Finland... HTC is out of their minds. It's a nice looking phone but should cost 400 euros or less.

  • You know what funny, this phone only have mtk helio p10 but it priced $430 in my country

  • nice look

  • Yes,p10 with 2500mah battery.can you read the specs.i don't think so,if you could then you didn't write those cm. P10 has quad 1ghz and these cores run mist of daily programs.ir never sucks the battery.first read and think then write negative words....

  • What's a joke after waiting for 2yrs, Nokia come in with an old charm N3310. Whether is it N6/5/3, I personally feel hurts. Think this U Play be my last option as Sam A3 (2017) also couldn't be reach in the market. We are approaching 2020 and yet there are still people spends ton of money just to create electronic wastes.

  • I think it is over priced device. ... in the specification have

  • $470 for Helio P10, I need some clorox bleach.

  • HTC 10 is a good product

  • Yes,p10 with 2500mah battery.can you read the specs.i don't think so,if you could then you didn't write those cm. P10 has quad 1ghz and these cores run mist of daily programs.ir never sucks the battery.first read and think then write negative words....

  • Agree with you..first phone with aluminium body, first phone with dual camera, even infrared control tv ,acconditioning

  • Helio P10 & no headphone jack almost 40k!!!!!!!!!!!! wth htc....

  • overpriced trash,costs over 500 euro

  • p10 n 2500 mah battery!!!! for 40k... is this a joke... hey htc.. wake up.. it seems like htc's sense ui.. but i have to called htc to non sense brand.. i used htc m7 what a phn that is.. i have this yet so far.. but after that m8 was ok ok. and after that.. htc became non sense.. come on htc.. bring some phn with good hardware and fair price.. u already in nothing in the market.. and if u behave like this.. then i guranteed u will have to packup and say by by to the mobile zone..

  • my best phone was the HTC ONE m7... at that time Samsung was a joke... still is a good one... but P10 and 2500mA? I am so disappointed... Now I am using a Xiaomi device... best price/quality/performance... but it will never be like HTC... If this year they will make a good phone I will switch back to HTC.... HTC Sense is the best UI...

  • Highly doubt you'll buy one.

  • P10 ! Seriously HTC?

  • HTC, come on, wakeup. I think you are still at 2012 days. What do you think about Indians? Mediatek processor mobile costs 40k? I bet, if anyone buys this mobile for 40k, definitely he/she is either innocent or over confident on you.

  • If only HTC had included a SD652 and 3000maH battery, it wouldve been a perfect midranger! U ultra is great but too huge.

  • HTC seems to be physically incapable of putting even an average battery into their phones.

  • Unfortunately, it is now the father of failure.

  • What a big waste of invest! HTC'd better stop making phones. 40% Iphones, 40%Samsung, 10% Lg, 7% Other chinese phones are beeing sold. Last 5 years i've seen only one man using HTC. Although it was a seller of Htc market

  • Yesterday spec's, forget it.

  • Lack of 3.5mm, and a pretty average battery could spoil what ought to have been a lovely phone. Still decent ,but some questionable design choices for me.

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Mediatek) selling very cheap but already using Mediatek 6797 Helio X20 10 core x 2.1ghz

  • Well said, with 5.2" be expected it come with 2800 or above. Btw if it can go for 1 work day think be consider good ya.

  • htc is the father of all mobiles company first android phone presented by HTC first windows phone presented by HTC htc think long life.

  • I'm in love with the design of this phone !!!!

  • Wow... Which phone is that, with 4000mAh battery?

  • 2500 mAh is a poor battery... I was a HTC user before but switched to another manufacturer that has 4000 mAh and the difference is significantly! Bad choice HTC.

  • 5.2 screen combined with MediaTech P10 and 2500 mAh is guaranteed terrible battery life. No need to wait for battery test results or even spend a time on testing this device since everything is so obvious. HTC never learns from its own mistakes and insisting on stupid decisions and solutions. My Xperia X compact has 4.6" 720P screen combined with SD 650 chipset and 2700 mAh and I still can't call battery life exceptional (definitely very good, but not exceptional). Can you imagine which battery results U Play is going to provide considering specs..?

  • i thiink htc had to go forward nd look like apple im nt sayng opste abt htc i aprecte htc too mch and gvn g a big hnd to them and im loking that htc is gng forward nd loking fr a better busines bt go forward very fast i lve ur all greetng thank u

  • Midrange and then 4g of ram?great job by htc, fhd, great cam in back and front and, finger print... just the battery,if the p10 SoC is power effici.... then htc u play is the best midrange.from d816 htc has made the best midranges(816,820,e9 serie,x9 and...)and now this phone.for sure htc has made midranges and upper midranges better than other famous brands.i will get u play or x10 or desire pro....

  • While waiting for more release news from Nokia, I would say I love it by its design, the fast charging and fingerprints that come along. By the way, does the download speeds from the handset be the same across regions?

  • good offering from HTC but lack of 3.5mm headphone jack and just 2500mAh its no match for my current Xperia XZ

  • Yes:)

  • 3000+ mhA and SD 626 was the best choice.... R.I.P. HTC

  • Wow!!!!! what a phone.. i am HTC user and waiting for this phone. All features are incredible.

  • Beautiful smartphone :)

  • 2500 mah battery!!!! I didn't even look at any other specs after reading 2500 mah battery. Consistency(poor) at its best.

  • 2500 mAh battery, 1.0 µm pixel camera, p10 chip, R.I.P. hTC

  • I was actually interested in this one, but Mediatek? Seriously HTC??? No wonder you are where you are.....

  • 2500mAh battery, Marshmallow and a Mediatek MT6755 = Average phone. 4GB RAM and a fingerprint sensor are nice additions though, I'll give them that. It'd be OK if they price it around $200-$250 all in. What's the betting HTC will make this an expensive phone, double that price.

  • Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10????? WTF!?

  • Step to the past
