  • It's not so strange that it only works with the headphones plugged in. They get used as the antenna. Without the headphones, reception would suck. This is a common requirement for many on-chip radios.

  • > There's a loudspeaker on the back. The radio won't work through it though. < Yes, it will! But strangely only when the headset is plugged in. Turn on the radio. Press Option and choose Loudspeaker.

  • Included manual doesn't even say it has a camera. I only found out it does video by doing them by accident when I tried to do photos. ** The mfgr's website DOES NOT have a manual to DL! ** It doesn't even recognize the model number!

  • Yep, it works fine with a mac. It has USB connect and is bluetooth capable too.

  • Can anybody tell me if this Huawei U1250 works with a Mac? I would like to upload some tunes and photos.

  • Just picked one up and just love it. For the price it's pretty awesome. The buttons are a little on the small side and can get tiring after a while but it's a nice design with compact size.

  • Txting is ok not a hussle

  • I really like this phone for basic calling and texting. I don't use it for internet access. My problem is that when the phone powers off (ie flat battery), it doesn't automatically receive texts again after it is charged. Calls go through, but I often get text messages, and they are not received. If I text to myself, the message comes through, with all the other messages. Also I cannot find a way to get an audible reminder that I have a missed call or message waiting. The phone does light up at intervals, but it is silent regardless of the settings, so unless you are watching it, you don't notice. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? The manual is not very helpful. It is branded Virgin mobile (Australia) so I may try calling them.

  • I picked up this puppy for $29 on the Wind network. Downloaded a couple of mp3 ringtones which rectified the low ringer volume problem. The small font and icon size on the home screen may be a problem for anyone over the age of 40. But the phone seems to be well made, call quality is quite good, camera is decent. For the money, I think it's a steal!

  • please someone tell me how to download new themes of this phone.there is only 2 themes.

  • I got one of these on the 2Degrees Network (New Zealand) although its a U1251. Below average average phone. Good points are its slim, quite light weight, good camera, good ear speaker volume, looks good, 3G, lack of irritating external side buttons rather it has only volume control which is great and good internal memory. Average points are the battery life, not great but not the worst I have seen and it seems to have the worlds shortest charger cord. Bad points, small font that is non adjustable, small range of poor ring tones, annoying features like the screen doesn't default back to home screen after texting or calling meaning the key pad doesn't lock. Worst of all the speaker volume for the ringer is far too quiet and there is no reminder that you have missed a call or text which you can do quite easily unless the screen is activated. The keys are skinny meaning inadvertant key presses. The email to handset interface system is next to impossible to set up even though it has an email screen and 2Degrees wouldn't have a clue how to do it either. In fact I haven't managed to do so yet. Lastly the phone came in a 2Degrees box with a less than helpful manual and although it has FM radio they don't equip it with a head phone set which means you can't access the radio. Summed up it doesn't do any function all that well.

  • I have been unsuccessful in getting this phone to receive mms. I received the text but no picture. Can anyone offer any help? I'm with Wind Mobile. mms account settings seem alright, mms centre: , WAP gateway: 74.115.197.70, connection type: http, network access point: mms.

  • best chinese phone i have seen, screen resolution when on the internet is unbeleivable. the browser is also good. plus plenty of java games and music to down load on memory card

  • It has awounderful camera, internet, sound and others.I saw it at MTN service center then i had to find out its functions from the internet b4 buying it.But their a two thing which were missing GPS and RADIO.

  • I purchased this phone as a backup phone. I am currently with the Canadian carrier Wind Mobile. I don't know if they got a special edition phone for their network, but mine seems to have a few features not listed here. 1: It is technically 3G+ using the 1700 and 2100 frequencies for data (t-mobile uses them in the states, Wind in Canada) 2: It has the capability to USB-tether to a computer and act as a wireless modem. I spent $70 on this phone, and have been very satisfied. If I was looking for the features that I got with it, I would have expected to pay much more, but at the time, I just wanted a phone that didn't cost a lot of money that I could use as a back-up to my smart phone.

  • I dont know how to put new themes onto my huawei U1250 cell phone. Can someone plese tel me how to? Thank you

  • Good price good phone good camera. Very sharp 2mp camera ang good sound. Clear 240x320 screen! For that price you cant complain much! Battery is good to

  • First saw this 4neat our service centre MTN UGANDA at a knockdown price that is compared to its features. Had to go and surf out its details on the net.Have had some experience with a different model of Huawei and its performance was awesome. Thats why am eyeing this one with optimism.

  • Woah, just figured it out. I looked all over the net and couldn't find it but here's the skinny on deleting all msgs. 1. Go to your inbox (or outbox you must delete each section on its own) 2. Click the options button 3. go to "mark/unmark" 4. select "mark all" 5. go back to options and delete, gets em all. Cheers!

  • Someone please tell me how to delete all my messages

  • This is also how you turn on VIBRATE - go into the Profiles section of settings and enable Vibrate for the profile you want.

  • daughter has inadvertantly changed language settings to ?Chinese. Can someone give me advice on putting it back to English please? Need buttons to push, etc as all words are in Chinese characters. Thanks.

  • the phone is awsome ! i have three of them and i love them all ! buy buy i say!

  • how is the texting?

  • This phone is alright, got it for $40 bucks, so what can you expect.

  • This is an excellent phone. The biggest drawback is that the display brightness is very weak - in sunlight you'll be cupping your hand over the display. And the colours go a bit funny if you're not viewing it from just the right angle. And apparently it's technically 3g, but the two I've used (on the Virgin network in Australia) have internetted slower than 2g/EDGE phones I've used. Still, it works, if you're just planning on checking emails/timetables/facebook, and you have a little bit of patience. But this isn't a phone for looking at - what blows me away about this is the music player. 3.5mm jack, and a dedicated music button, and a radio! The volume rockers on the side work even when the keypad is locked, so you can adjust volume without taking the phone out of your pocket. An underrated feature. And while the database organising system works, it also lets you play music directly from the file system - navigate to any music file, and it automatically sets the playable contents of that folder as a playlist. Another EXTREMELY underrated feature, makes drag-n-dropping music onto an sd card work very well. The maximum volume isn't the loudest I've ever heard - which here means "won't deafen you". You'll be able to hear your music fine in normal conditions, but you might have a bit of trouble with quieter tracks if you're walking past a busy road or something. And wmas and some m4a files won't play (download an audio converter and you're fine). Still, for so cheap that's all easy to put up with, especially considering the excellence of the rest of the music system. I bought one of Nokia's Xpress Music series phones, but took it back to the shop and replaced it with this. The specs say up to 8g SD cards work, but i'm using a 16g card with no problems so far. I haven't filled it up past 8g yet though, but the file manager recognises that there's an 16g card there without throwing a fit. The card is twice as expensive as the phone, and together they still come up cheaper than lesser quality music player phones. There's a loudspeaker on the back. The radio won't work through it though. The sound quality through that is better to my ears than the nokia x2, but still basically a tinny phone speaker. IF you're looking for a music player phone with a decent camera (it's not gonna win awards but you'll be able to take happysnaps and post them on facebook just fine) and basic internet function, this is perfect. This is the best music phone I have ever used, I have no idea why they aren't marketing it like that here! The songs sometimes skip if you jolt the phone while playing, but not enough for it to be a huge issue. Don't keep it rattling around in your pocket while you're jogging and you won't often encounter this problem. Even if you find this available on some network other than what you're on, it's cheap enough and good enough that it may be worth paying the unlocking fee (I paid $39AUD for the phone). Again, the PERFECT phone for someone looking for an mp3 player replacement. If you're not after a music phone you might want to look elsewhere, but if you are, download an audio conversion program to deal with the lack of WMA playback and buy this phone.

  • This model is like my u1280 and I'm satisfied enough with it. Can be as a modem for your pc

  • no edge, only gprs and 3g

  • Pros: - Stylish and slim phone - Nice light keyboard - Good voice call performance - Good speaker-phone - Good battery life - MP3 player Cons: - Internet difficult to configure, manual settings required - Had to load Opera Mini & Gmail via the PC - Opera & Gmail apps installed, but would not run - Camera results disappointing - No front camera for video calls - Control keys too small - USB mini jack awkward to use - Tiny, unreadable font indicating text input type (abc, ABC, 123 etc) Conclusion: Good phone functions but Internet difficult to set up. The ZTE F100 is better...

  • I have been using this phone since two weeks. This phone is awesome. In the beginning the navigating menus were little confusing. when you get use to it, its very simple. -Tons of options -Great features -Voice call superb -loud speaker is very loud -head set speaker is very loud -Keypads are soft and nice. I would highly recommend this phone if you are into texting and needing a phone to make call and receive.

  • Change profile; Go to Settings --> Phone Settings --> Profiles

  • I have the weirdest problem with my U1250: The battery died the other day and when I turned the phone back on after charging it automatically set the profile to 'headset', this is without the headset being connected. Once I connected the headset the profile changed to 'normal' and now I can only speak on the phone normally (that is by handset) if the headset is connected. The headset however is useless, since when it is connected the phone changes the profile to 'normal'. Has anybody experienced this problem and if so; do you have a solution? (btw, I sent my phone to be repaired after this happened and they sent it back to me with the comments that nothing was wrong with it and it worked fine for a few days, until the battery died again. Then it all went back to Sh**)

  • I have just bought this phone and you cannot connect to any Mac computers because it says that it is invalid! :(

  • If you have Itunes, you can dowload a CD and change the import settings to be MP3's or Waves. There are also website to make your own ringtones, and if you have a saved MP3 on your comp you can upload it to the website, and re-save the edited version to your computer. Then use PCSuite to upload the final version to the phone.

  • I have Huawei U1250. I'd like to know how to transfer MP3 songs from either a CD or PC. I have installed PC Suite, program, that comes with the phone. Thank you

  • Hey William, I bought the same VMX package, through Dick smith. I have since spent 1hr on the phone with Virgin trying to set up my email account (hotmail), to the point where they just hung up on me! I have also had trouble downloading music. It doesn't download to the music folder, only to the micro sd card, and then it won't play saying, file type not recognised. Any help would be greatly appreciated. John

  • i bought this phone recently and i find it a nice thin modern phone that looks great. it is good for people on the go. the downside is that the sound is way too low. and it is sometimes a bit slow

  • Bought this phone from dick smith for $40. It was called the "Optus U1200" My expectation where quiet low considering the cost of this phone. However I am quiet impressed with the features offered by such a cheap phone. It is even very good for facebook and twitter when using the application "Snaptu". Just to let you know in the back of the phone it says that it is a huawei U1251 so I guess it is a slightly different model. Great phone considering the asking price but dont expect to much from this phone.

  • Nice phone, easy to use and the pc suite helped me clean up my adressbook. also try taking photos in panorama =) the volume is to low even on highest. would be nice with WLAN and Radio but i can manage without it. Anyone tried adding music with a microSD card reader/writer?

  • Hi There. I am going to buy this phone but the one I am going to buy is the "Optus U1200" but it is still the same phone. I was just wondering does anybody know if the java application "snaptu" work on this phone? It is a free download from this website www.snaptu.com/ If some one could try it or let me know if it works would be great :) Thank You.

  • not the phone coz i love it,but the last time i bought a pre_paid credit 2 recharge'n it doesn't n it not working on many internet webs faster like google n face book.i realy love coz it so cheaper 2 buy n so strong, the last time it fell on our floor n i took it up it still working.i love it n thanks 2 u 4 making such a beautiful like this....for the mucis downloading coz it my fault..bye

  • to get a better and faster gprs-search-machine in your phone, try to download: Opera mini ,at: m.opera.com ,and save it on the game-section

  • well, compare to motorola ve538, it has a better 2mp camera, better user interface, and i agree that the connection was to slow for a 3g phone. good works for huawei, hope to see another affordable 3g phone in indonesia

  • Bought this phone is Australia as the Virgin Mobile VMX. Fantastic phone for AU $39 with a plethora of useful features (3G, 3.5mm jack and MicroSD reader), well thought out menus and music player. However, scrolling through complex web pages is painfully slow and PC software stored in phone's memory isn't compatible with Windows 7. Also, competibility with video formats is patchy at best (can't stream from youtube).

  • the best phone ever

  • I find the phone is difficult to use and is not easily layed out. It is difficult to use import music to and the volume on the mp3 or radio is too low.

  • Good Phone Despite the Weak Radio Signal Capture.. phone is awosome and contact search criteria is pritty good..... overoll goood phone

  • i've used this 4n about 2 week so far.. seems so nice

  • is there a way to put music on there without using pc suite

  • The 3G componet is very slow, 1/20 speed of my ZTE T6 and I really notice just how loooong it takes to open a page with a few pics. Lucky I have a fast phone for internet use, otherwise it is a very handy phone. I like the way the drivers & programs are embedded in the phone.

  • gooooooooooooooooooooo

  • For is its price A$40 with free $5 calls its a steal. Really satisfy me for my needs Ill give it a 10

  • Well, the thone in general is interesting but speed is a concern! I have a SonyEricsson k770i too anda comparing the booth, in a scale of 10 the, the k770i has 8 and the u1250 5 points. The 3G, what I have to say, is not good and not bad. I mean, it should have a front camera, don't you think? Text message is very good. I love it. PS: there is no Theme available online for it.

  • Not bad at all. Good battery life. So many options

  • i just this fone today, it is nice for simple use like making call and text msg..

  • Looks like a LG copy.
