Motorola DEXT MB220 - User Reviews

  • Still my favorite phone although i don't have it anymore. I installed game boy advanced emulator on it, and used to play all day long. Best gadget to have those who like game boy advanced. And also a good device for note making, messaging. But it would've made some sense if Motorola didn't use a 256mb ram on a smart phone.!!

  • There is no other way to uninstall motoblur alone. you need to install custom rom. The stock rom(1.5) is better compared to all though. android 2.3 cyanogen mod was a stable rom.

  • It is difficult to update this phone without Windows XP and Computer Admin rights, but other than that here is a link, but to every one else don't buy this phone(Only America gets the easy update). This is for MB200 model. Check Settings > About > Check: System Version, Model Number, Firmware Version, Baseband Version and etc. The Bell Mobility Dext Bible - How to ROOT, flash a 2.1 ROM and keep 3G

  • how we will upgrade OS SYSTEM

  • Yes, and calls them 'conversations'. Cheers, Piggsie .

  • uhm are the texts viewed in a thread?

  • An excellent phone, with just a few issues holding it back. Many of them crash, especially when the camera is started up :( but generally, great fun, and does all its supposed to. Gotta laugh as somebody here saying its s**t cos its camera flash doesnt work after an OS update - erm, does it have a camera flash? nope :) some amazingly dense people on earth there really is :-p

  • Yes.

  • after upgrading to froyo camera and radio not working but battery timing is awesome and when in gingerbread both the same problem but battery also fused too early bad

  • shit phone. i tried to update it to newer OS but stated there're no new updates. if you don't update, no flash for camera. why it this bulky crap is still in stores?

  • Awesome phone. Running cyanogen mod 7 rom,wrks perfectly...luv u motorola

  • hi i am considering buying this phone if you update it will it have flash?

  • i have motorola mb 200 and i want to know is it have back camera 3g or any outher 3g features? Pleace answer me?

  • To update your phone, you must go to "about your phone" system update.. you need to open your wi-fi..

  • Does anybody have multi touch patch for android 2.3.7 CM 7.1 motorola mb200 ???

  • it is good and beautiful so good and fast best in the world

  • Nearly forgot, on many, starting up the camera causes the phone to reboot about 50% of the time. I couldn't find why, but mine stopped doing that reset when I changed to a different memory card, no other updates or adjustments helped, but my new 8Gb card seems to have stopped it. It had nothing to do with the older card needing formatting or anything else - just a new card from a different manufacturer (a cheap one off ebay). If i can find the make I will post here.

  • An excellent phone. Has the usual quirks of Android - turns off, loses signal, drops calls (like sooo many do). But, fast and fun to play with, good quality design. Excellent camera, screen, keypad. Best when upadted so you can play with more apps, but the stock 1.5 Cupcake does its job perfectly, for those who don't want to update etc. etc.

  • Reset it to factory settings and regain all original software. Read the little book!

  • Using CM 7 2.3.7 Android ROM. It's quite an old phone, yet still powers on. You need to learn about 'rooting' and 'flashing' to be able to use an alternative ROM. Goodluck, it's so much better with the updates.

  • please tell step by step how to upgrade to gingerbread or froyo

  • One of the best phones ever!, It has 1 gig of storage on the phone, 256mb ram, and 512 rom, that is more than many new ones have. Running andro 2.3.7 from cyanogenmod (google it) and it works great.

  • My wife & I purchased two mb200's in March of '10 from tmobile. Within 2 months her keyboard quit lighting up, she got a replacement in May '10. Her replacement just started having the same symptoms about a month ago (May '11). Will replace soon. My "cliq" started having problems about 6 months into our contracts (Sept '10). It was turning off at random and became very sluggish. Replaced it asap. About 2 months ago (April '11) my cliq started to not receive calls/texts despite people sending them. I would call it from my wife's cliq, listen to it ring all the way to vm without anything appearing on my screen and leave a vm without my phone telling me a thing. Upgraded both our cliq's to the latest simcards in hopes of that solving the issue; it hasn't. My wife's 5 months pregnant and if something were to happen when we're apart, i want to feel like we can communicate. Unfortunately, the cliq mb200 will (and has) let us down. Fortunately we have insurance so tmobile can keep giving us a replacement for no extra cost, but I feel like we're paying a lot of $$ for an unreliable service. Guess we'll just hold out until our contract expires and we can give tmobile the finger.

  • i bought my dext last week im from trinidad it costs 1100 tt i upgraded it to the 2.1 software it works great and i got better games and apps with it plus a volume upgrade its loud, and the battery life is better than some other phones i got, cant wate for the other update to come

  • this is the worst phone i have ever used! everything about the operation and organization is overly complicated and confusing. The battery life is terrible, and the length of time it takes to change is unreal. I spent more time yelling at this phone than using it! I hated this phone so much just 4 months after buying it i paid outright for an Iphone!! My boyfriend (who had broken his old phone) was using a cheap samsung flip phone and took my DEXT....after 2 weeks, he switched back to the flip phone!!!

  • to use the bluetooth you need to get an app from the market, once set up you can actually search other peoples phones for the files you want, rather than wait for them to send you what they want! to link the contacts together go into contacts, select and open contact so that you can see their details, then press the button with the 4 squares and you will be given the option to link contact, select this, then you will be taken back to your contact menu to choose the contact to link it to, all done!

  • does anybody knows how to sync contacts in phone and simcard??

  • can the Motorola Dext MB220 send and recieve files by using the bluetooth??

  • this is the first phone with complate social network in the world well done moto motoblur is great

  • how to set songs for text tone???

  • u can download 2.1 upgrade from motorola site.

  • I purchased two of these phones in May. Both phones have had issues, and as of today both found have been replaced by Motorola 3 times. I also know another person having the same issues with hers. The phone only receives 2 to 5 calls out of 20. We can call out with no issues, and we are showing full reception. The only thing that has worked consistently is the Android market and the internet. I have always sworn by Motorola, but these are the last devices I will ever buy from them. I am going to the G2.

  • bro this phone is the shiz nit.. its like fully sick bro. yella...

  • is update to android available fr this phne?

  • Android os phone I used HTC Hero, HTC Legend, LG Gw620, but Dext is the best among those model

  • An app can be downloaded to allow data transfer using bluetooth

  • u can download a fre bluetooth application in the market for that! ;)

  • thats not true, I have it for a year and yes you can send photos

  • I traveled from Asia to US to get one, as where I live this phone isn't available. Although the phone is 12 mths old running on relatively outdated OS without multi-touch (even after upgrade), hardware wise it offers one of the best keyboard around, and MotoBlur offers instant updates of Facebook, yahoo mail, etc... If you don't mind the weight, which gives a sturdy feel, you should get one.

  • just a warning about the bluetooth. because of the android operating system bluetooth dont support the sending and resieving of any file its just for hands fre basicaly

  • hello everyone..can i know is this phone good?the overall abt the application and games is it good? coz i reli like the outlooks of it n its android phone..so hope u all would tell me the answer ( if can hope those who own this phone to answer? thank u.

  • I use DeXT already 9 month, i find out after i master reset it and change branded Memory card the phone is funtioning very good, but the battery only can use for 1/2 day only, i use task killer also, can u tell me is't got task top batt charged for this model? pls give me the model number, thanks.

  • Yeah! I know that. But i need to install an aplication for my work and I can't do it 'cause the phone doesn't have JRE. And I need to know if there is any aplication that will help me. Thanks for the help

  • I was considering purchasing this phone, but I have not had much luck finding a Motorola that is decent. So I don't know whether to buy it or not, I would definately not recommend it though.

  • What do you mean with Java Reader? All the apps in Android are created on Java but you can't run any java app because it does not use the standard JRE, it has his own JRE/SDK

  • I need to know if you can install Java reader in this phone. If someone can help me, please contact me

  • Custom ROMs people, root your Android phones before sending them in.

  • I have had my phone for 3 months and out of that 3 months i have only used it for 2. The p.o.s decided to pack it in after 2 months. I went to look at youtube for a drifting vid and the stupid thing force quit on me. So I turned it off and restarted it. All i got was the start up screen with the m. sent it to my service provider and they sent it to motorola. after a month i rang motorola because optus are stupid and they have no idea where the phone is. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE IF YOU WANT TO STAY SANE AND HAVE A FULL OF HAIR.

  • must waiting for android 2.1 before can turn on light

  • Basically it's a bad batch of DEXTs you have there. My second-hand CLIQ from T-Mo is working fine.

  • And to have two replacement phones delievered both broken in 24 hours? All the faults are the same and they were happening too quickly now I take great care of my phones to ensure no damage happens and when phones have broken in the past it is usually after about a year not 1 month then 2 months then noticed after 3 hours when i make a call then 5 hours after delievery.

  • I ended up recycling it since not only did it freeze all the time but since the internal microphone broke twice the hearing bit break even more i went ''screw this''

  • I'm not saying nothing can go wrong on other phones just after 4 phones breaking one after the other? Please I have had phones go wrong in the past but come the 1st replacement it is fine.

  • If you would really want a DIY (yet risky) solution, then consider rooting the phone and putting in a custom ROM. My T-Mobile CLIQ is already running on Android 2.1 Eclair complete with Superuser access and custom settings, which vastly improved my phone's capabilities. Not really an easy ting to do, but it's doable.

  • So absolutely nothing can go wrong on other phones?

  • It was Orange UK and they said it was exceptionally rare we encounted these problems but to have 4 handsets in 3 months (2 in one 24hour period alone) that all broke? Just seems wrong to me so I wanted to warn possible buyers not to go by just the good reviews as things can go wrong.

  • You kept mentioning about your provider, I wonder which is it? I got mine through T-mobile in US this past (mid) July. I have not encountered any problem, including the ones you mentioned, at all. Build quality is good, and the keyboard is much better than my Milestone. Indeed, despite being slower with smaller screen and everything else, I use my Cliq more often than my Milestone. Voice quality is also excellent. The MotoBlur works wonder even though I'm no longer in US, and where I live right now...HK, our Moto says we won't be getting MotoBlur in the near future. And the reason I got it in US thru T-mobile is simple: Moto HK for some reason never imported this great phone. So I had to travel all the way to US to get one.

  • Just to inform you the replacement Dext (the 4th handset I have had) is broken.. it freezes and all the calls keep cracking.

  • DO NOT GET THIS PHONE!!! It is a complete ball ache! I decided to get a 2nd line with my provider for my partner and he chose this phone but we ended up swapping as he didn't use the social networking features to the extent I did... But that plus that fact it is an Android OS is all that it is good for. Right the bad parts: 1. After about a month the internal speaker broke so my provider replaced it 2. After two months of complaining to my provider the phone was replaced again as it didn't make calls properly, randomly called people when I wasn't using it, wouldn't text properly all my texts couldn't send despite people having room on their phones, the keypad stopped lighting up, it kept freezing, people couldn't hear me when I called them and many more. 3. My provider replaced the phone and when you madde a call no one could hear you and if they did they only got one word if they were lucky. So do yourself a favour and don't go through what I am going through, I really do not like this phone it seems to break too easily despite it meant to be a phone that rarely goes wrong.

  • You guys do know that there are rooted firmwares out there... right?

  • why isnt the bluetooth fumctioning properly ??

  • Android 2.1 will NOT BE avaliable in Europe.....

  • Maddy.., wht is dis sync with ''OTC''? how 2 do that?

  • "To install a custom build firmware is easy and can be done with help from here: As long as you're teaching "proper English", shouldn't ths say: "Installing a custom build firmware is easy and can be done..." or "It's easy to install a custom build firmware and can be done..." Just sayin'

  • does the flex of the phone last long

  • You´re so stupid, Let them write as they like, what is your problem?

  • try motorola media link

  • What is it with you people? Are you all school dropouts or just ignorant? Learn proper English and stop writing "pls tell me how 2 blabla". It's "Please" and "to". • Android cant sync with PC as of now. You have to sync OTA.

  • Pls somebody tell me how 2 sync MB200 with PC? and how 2 setup sync .

  • I have a rooted Dext but when I push the spacebar on the physical keyboard, it types &8 or sometimes H and then it goes onto the next line! Does anyone know why it is doing this? and if there is anything I can do to fix it?

  • i mean u must propebly changed your phone firmware . but u need to call to moto servic

  • how obout camera quality and phone speed ? thx

  • After almost 9 months since being released, I findally got a copy when I traveled to US 2 weeks ago, because for some reason Moto HK refused to carry this fantastic phone. Motoblur, which for some reason, also not available in HK, is simply awesome. Constant updates and sync to the phone's contact...and surprisingly it works even after I got back to HK. Some may find the phone a bit heavy, though what the phone can offer is simply... I stayed in US for 2 weeks, and I seldom touched my phone, because my wife simply couldn't live without it! She has hundreds of friends on Facebook and Motoblur plus one of the best keyboards around simply makes the weight being no issue at all. (she uses iphone in HK) Now the phone is in my hand and I'm more than happy with this...and my speedy Milestone. Will also get Cliq XT/Quench tomorrow for the radio.

  • Don't know how many times already mentioned, Android 1.5 OS does NOT support Bluetooth file transfer. You may try to search for apps or wait for the 2.1 update.

  • Hi! I have the same phone. See if this works for you. 1.) go to the Contacts (by clicking on the blue button with human silhouette) 2.)you should either see your contacts, or an empty contact list, or your newly created contact list. press the left button to call up the settings (the 4 squares with the highlighted top left hand square) 3.) Click "Settings" 4.)You should see "MOTOBLUR address book, Google, and Import from SIM card". Click "Import from SIM card" 5.)Click "OK" Hope it works for you! :D

  • Hi I recently bought this phone. Normally i store my contacts on my sim card. For some reason i can't find an option to display the contacts from the sim card? Does that mean i HAVE to transfer the contacts over to the phones memory before i can display it? Cheers

  • New Dext Upgrades to Android Eclair 2.1 with new Motoblur software should be unveiled and available this month.

  • it work. Cheers mate:). your a legend.

  • Hold the Picture in the message. It should give you the option to save

  • Anyone know if they re still updating this phone??

  • hey all..just got one of these phones last week. still learning my way around it..one thing though that i cant get my head around is mms..i got the send and recieving down pat as would anyone..the thing i cant figure out is when a picture is recieve it comes through with a 5 second play. but more importantly i cant figure out how to save the picture from the message...can this be done? if so how? thanks in advance to anyone that can help

  • hi all,can someone give advise: can i install gmxtx on this model? thanks a lot..

  • Mimi just download your newest updates available the 4th or 5th update gives you a battery manager option in settings where you can have you device last at least for 2days and not lose features or services

  • I've only got the phone for a couple of days. The battery seem to run out quite fast. What is the normally duration for the 6XP battery

  • Wrong, use Fring, works like a charm.

  • Yes my phone likes calling people, if I have my blue tooth on I quckley cancel then text them appologising. I would like to use orange maps via bluetooth is this possible? The orange maps is very good, that in itself makes it excellent value. My Sat Nav wanted updating £70.00 then packed in!! I nearly spent £170.00 updating the it, giving up the ghost then about another £100.00 for a new one. If you have a casettes player in your car get one of those casette covertwers about £7.00 the you have a hands free via the car radio. Alan

  • my main issue with this handset is that the screen is rather fond of jumping to the right making all touch navigation impossible. The phone then needs to be locked then unlocked before the problem rectifies itself. Have tried replacing the phone as well as installing the updates. Still having the same problem.

  • Why can't i use my cliq without registering it on the account.

  • Try reducing the screen brightness to one that is good for you, plus enable the screen timeout to 15 seconds or so, disable bluetooth as well, that should help a bit.

  • Quick answer to all the things stated that are bad about this phone. 1. poor battery /answer: update your phone, 4 updates available on UK Orange Handsets. 2.Laggy /answer: same as above and get task killer app to lower un-used ram consumption. 3.weight of device /answer: go to the gym or something because its not heavy at all for the services it offers.

  • thanks!!

  • i have had this phone several weeks and i love it!!! got it on orange payg for 150 quid - obviously there are better androud phones if u want to be tied into an 18th month contract but i dont - i think this phone is brilliant for the money and can do so much on it - only cupcake but the integration of mototblur puts it near the capabilities of 2.1 - there are planned updates from motorola for 2.1 (though froyo would be better now) i have had more phones that hot diners and i particularly love this one - i would highly recommend it!!! ( I am an computing undergrad student with an interest in open source and and ipod touch owner - and i still recommend the phone lol)

  • What do you mean by buggy as all hell...alot of ppl nd websites do recommend d phone. It's features re amazing for a 160 pound phone. What is basically wrong with d phone.i no many ppl complain abt d size bt ive no problem with its physical structure more intrested in wat it can do nd how efficient it is.

  • Absolutely horrible phone. The features are great but they are buggy as all hell. NOT recommended, even if contemplating a software update :/

  • Will they ever update it or its just a yet.any flaws with the phone??

  • no we cant update this yet. im sellin mone to get a N1 eventually

  • thats the first thing that i thought aswell

  • excellent phone the only thing i dislike is the weight hope soon comes out a light version.

  • Try to create s special folder call "ringtones" in your memory card, put all the ringtones in there, then go to the phone setup and you should be able to find them. It works on my Milestone. (can confirm on Dext/Cliq once I get my own copy, probably around mid-July when I go to US!)

  • how dod i add a ringtone

  • how can you delete emails i can only do it one by one is there an easier way

  • Can u upgrade 2 2.o or 2.1 on this.how much differencew is there between 1.5 nd d rest.

  • No Skype

  • Does skype work on this phone?

  • best buy with best price

  • does the dext phone have the itap feature? thanks

  • not true i have one without data and it works fine

  • Look at some bluetooth file transfer apps in the Android Market, they may help.

  • has any one been successful with the bluetooth feature of the mb200 ie connecting to NON moto devices - transferring data files ect

  • Thank you. I jsut odnt want to buy the internet plan if I dont need it. I'm at work most of the day and I really dotn need the internet plan...stinks :T

  • I was told this as well(on orange), but luckily was upgraded free of charge to a data plan as this phone was an upgrade. The truth is you don't need the data plan to make calls and send sms, but as the whole point of this phone is the social side it will cost you quite a lot if you dont buy a data plan or turn off the updates. Hope this helps

  • Other than a choice of colours in some countries, I believe the mb200 is the cliq and the mb220 is the dext, both have same features.

  • What's the difference between the MB200 and MB220?

  • Does this phone really need to have the internet plan from T-mobile to work? The sales lady said I have to have the plan inorder to make calls and access all the features on the phone. I understand that the internet might not work if I go to a place without Wi-fi but I can't even make a call? that doesn't even sound right... I dont see a point in the internet plan if I have Wi-Fi everywhere I go.

  • Sorry to say the slide to answer feature is common on many phones nowadays, not just this and other recent Motorola Android devices, rather almost all Android devices, including HTC, SE, Samsung, etc...none of these Android phones have the "Answer" key. Not to mention Apple iphone. If you can't live with this feature, guess such is not really the right phone for you, and you may be better off using traditional phones with hard "answer" button

  • I'm really disappointed with this model. The Android is great, lot of interesting software and nice interface. The batery lasts just 10 hours. At end of day, I'm always without a cell phone. You have do turn off the Motoblur to use it. The touch screen simply doesn't work well. I just can't receive calls in hot weather (wich is very common here in Brazil), because you have to slide the touch screen and there's no alternative button to do it.

  • Hi Enzo, u can download for free in Android Market the aplication eBuddy and then uso multiple accounts of MSN MESSENGER, YAHOO, GTALK, ETC... I use it all day long and works perfect, no bugs! Nice regards!

  • I'm waiting for delivery of this phone to replace my 5800 XM which is absolutely full of bugs and slow(I have latest firmware v50) I tried hard reset but no help. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE... Only bad thing about Dext is no flash on camera :(. But then again most LED flashes are rubbish at night anyway so you don't really lose much! Can't wait for Android 2.1 hurry Motorola pls!

  • Is anyone having the problem of your phone randomlly calling someone without you doing anything?

  • how much is it on kenyan shillings

  • Well, actually you can upgrade the OS to android 2.1 eclair after around june according to motorola

  • Not possible video call, radio.. OS 1.5.. dont like..

  • search for documentstogo fulll

  • 1. I don't know 2. search notepad on market (ak notepad) 3.no

  • he, just got the phone and i love it. just a few questions. 1. can you put a lock on your messages, if so how? 2. is there an app or something like a 'notepad'? 3. does the camera have flash? thanks so much !

  • can you make documents with this phone? because that is the trait that i am loking for hoping for a fast answer.

  • How much for this one in INDIA? Is it available?

  • very good phone very nice design

  • You can order the unlock code from unlockmobile. THey are good, cheap and prompt.

  • does anyone have the unlock code to unlock this phone.i want to do to canada n i want to use there service.i am on t-mobile. thank you

  • i think the voltage of the SIM card is not compatible to his Motorola Dext. Getting Insert Sim message means it's not being detected by the handset. If the phone is network locked and inserted a diff SIM card on it, it will not say Insert SIM. Hence it will ask for a restriction code or subscriber code but not insert SIM.

  • you hsve to registra your mobile on the website than only you can use your phone www.optus.com.au Handset Locking:The Motorola handsets are locked to the Optus network. Customers should call Customer Care to unlock. No fee applies to unlock.

  • Got a first-hand experience on this handset. i'm trained for technical support for Dext and backflip as well as Motoblur. If you gonna take a look at it on the Marketing side it's an awesome phone since it will give you updates and stuff for social networking sites. The fact that it keeps your handset updated it will require huge huge amount of data that's why it requires rate plan. But as a tech ... the more features and techy the handset is .. the more problem it will give you ...

  • having insert SIM message on the handset means that the phone is not reading the SIM card. It's either the SIM card is not compatible. Try a diff SIM and check if it works

  • please i am new to this cell phone got mine of late and it keeps telling me that i should insert my sim card when i have already don that and some one was telling me that the phone is locked and i was like not its not went to an engineer's and he said the cell aint locked did any one encounter that kind of issue and my cell is t mobile branded so who wants to help me out ?

  • dude Live Messanger or MSN iz totally tew different word ol2gether........

  • Does it have Live Messanger or MSN or woteva you want to call it???

  • im right handed and dont find it a problem but did feel odd at first. my left hand controls the pad and my right controls the screen, delete, enter, back etc so it does sorta feel like it was made for right handers.

  • only way ive found to use skype is using fring. look for it in the market place. u can link gtalk and other things to it aswell. for a pc suite i use motomedia link. should find it if you google it.

  • I really like this phone its as close to an iphone bt i feel tt this is much more better... it cn b a little slow at times bt im ok with tt.. overall, im quite satisfied with it

  • Hey its true that optus is giving 6 months off but it is not from the 1st month its from the 3rd bill.......

  • dext is $0 upfront on 49cap i suppose that's the best plan to go for.. anyways you'll be getting 6months off on the access fee so that's a huge discount. i've already called the numbers that have been posted but no one's answering as of now.. i'll beb ack at the office around tuesday so i'll contact them again. offer is good as long as YOU ARE AN AUSTRALIAN CITIZEN since they'll ask for valid IDs upon delivery.

  • on $19cap per month youl get 4 months waved access pay additonal for the mobile per month or upfront post your nbr *only available til offer lasts *valid only for AUS citizens

  • 0265414823

  • really 6 months can I get it on $ 19 plan instead?

  • one department of OPTUS (CRM) offers 6months off on access fees if you take the 49cap with the dext.. so 49*6 is like $300 in discounts... you can write down yer phone number here and i'll havet hem contact you so you can get that 6months off..

  • Hella Greate Features... would love to get my hands on one of these... better then the apple iphone.... RockOn...!!!

  • orange shops uk have it for 149.99 GBP plus 10 top up on pay as you go,,if you can get one our shops gone none in they sold out..

  • This fone is way cooler than anyone could ever think..its way way better cooler than iphone...if anyone could take time to learn dis fone, than you would understand where im coming from...wish i had one for myself...hav to save up n get one for my own... ..MEME.. ..FROM FIJI..

  • Great phone if you take the time to learn it The phone feels great. Ergonomically, feels great in the hands for txt, email, etc. AND YES YOU CAN SAVE CONTACTS ON RECENT CALL LISTS. Simply hold down on the number that you called & presto, menu comes up for you to save onto contact list. Also, moves much faster than mytouch IMO. Overall, Great job Moto. A few quirks can be taken care of but great stab at a new andriod device. I love it & will no longer sport the mytouch.

  • this will be out by tommorow you can start ordering from optus it's way cooler than the iphone!!!

  • this phone is NOW available it will be EXCLUSIVE to OPTUS for the first 6 months it will be released in the market in september 2010 and will be $0 on a 49 cap Advantages- once you set up your motoblur which will register on your facebook, twitter, gmail only once and youl never have to register to log on ever again! it will send you all the latest blogs profile updates posts messages to your mobile phone at no charge and scince you have a registerd account on moto blur if you lose your phone you would be able to trac it down on the motoblur website due to its AGPS! and you would have the capability to ERASE all date via the web if needed and when you get a new phone all you do is log on to the phone using your old username and password and all the fetures will be back! Cool right!

  • i soo wish to have dis kool fone ...its jst amazin

  • It will be in June 2010 as reported

  • just got this with orange....they informed me androis update 2.1 is on the way for this handset....anyone know when

  • love a review gsmarena

  • Strengths: Motoblur is amazing (Happenings, messages and status updater widgets especially) Keyboard is amazing Screen is beautiful Phone calls are crisp and clear, no problems on either end Speaker on phone is loud (not recommended for listening to music, though), but works well with ringtones and speakerphone. Phone feels good in hand/comfortable Silence/Ringer switch like the palm pre Browser works quite well Videos play great Android Apps work well and there's plenty to choose from Weaknesses: Battery life is a little short if you don't know how to download and manage your apps Camera isn't perfect (but this is a phone, not a camera so that's excusable) Android 1.5 is outdated (although word is we're getting our 2.1 update in 2Q 2010) Phone is sluggish if you don't properly task kill your apps when you're done using them. If your widgets are getting overloaded with info (like when you turn the phone on), the phone will be sluggish. Overall: I am in love with this phone. Motoblur is a fantastic invention. It's true that it does get a little overwhelming sometimes (I have 50-60 pages to scroll through every morning), it is absolutely wonderful that I can keep up with so many of my friends without spending half a day on a computer. You can comment on wall posts, pictures, status updates, return pokes, etc. The only problem is that two way commenting is not available on myspace. You can look, but not comment. This is kind of lame and hopefully they'll fix it soon. Being connected is what's most important with me and my phone. I pay 80 bucks a month for 500 talk minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data. It's nice to finally see a phone on the market that allows me to truly utilize the unlimited data. If you sign onto FB more than 2 times a day and have accounts to other places, buy this phone and save yourself the trouble. The updater widget updates freaking everything, myspace, FB, twitter (I'm not a tweeter, but I know many people are). This is the best phone with the best OS I've ever owned, I won't be buying any non moto-blur phones anytime soon.

  • download bluex.apk for bluetoth transfer.. i have donut 1.6...but havent put it through the paces so dont quote me

  • As mentioned earlier, root cause is the "Google Android 1.5 OS." You should be informed, if not do your homework, before you get one, if you absolutely cannot survive without BT transfer. My Milestone running on Android 2.0.1 offers BT file transfer, but I only use BT for handsfree so far. For file transfer, I don't see why using USB cable is really that big a deal. Of course if you don't want your Dext/Cliq, let me know as I would like to get one. (but not available where I live)

  • I cannot transfer any files from old phone to Motorola Dext MB220 via bluetooth. In this day and age I think it is crap.

  • just ne camera 5mp no video call camera

  • Motorola DEXT MB220 has dual cam or single camera?

  • The Android 1.5 OS, which the Dext/Cliq uses, does NOT support Bluetooth file transfer. You can download additional software thru the Market to get it work.

  • i cannot bluetooth my friends ): and its very laggy

  • Does anyone else have a problem with the battery life of this phone? I have it under battery saver mode and unchecked the auto-synch option already, but the phone can barely last me one day of usage with no phone calls and less then 50 messages. Is there a remedy for the this situation? Please help :(

  • i didnt knew it had the D-Pad on the left n its on the right on MILestone

  • yaha i help u regarding blue tooth file transfer, u download software from android market "bluetooth file transfer"download it and use it and pray for me .Thanks

  • I absolutely LOVE this phone!!!! It is so awesome that you can create one single log in for facebook, emails, my space, twitter and it all comes in one inbox!!! Also if you lose it you can wipe all the data and find it with GPS. Gotta love it!!!

  • id rather buy Nokia n900. it has 600mhz and greater cam.

  • Awesome phone really easy to use full o features and contrary to popular belief it is not chunky and heavy.

  • It feels like i'm lifting a plasma TV when I pick it up.

  • Does anyone know how to enable delivery reports on the dext, Orange network? Orange seem to be under the impression they are activated from their side, I have set the phone for notifications within the text settings on the phone but delivery reports aren't appearing.. Any advice would be welcome, thanks!

  • Motorolla have released an update today for this phone to improve touchscreen repsonse and the Battery life. I'm installing it now, let's hope this works.

  • yes you can use predictive text on that

  • can you use predictive txt on this phone . So if i dont want to use the qwerty keybored i can use the touch screen

  • The Motorola Cliq (USA), or Dext (UK), is the first handset to truly realise the potential of social networking, in the palm of your hand. It is also the first handset from Motorola to utilise Android software. Using a unique system called MOTOBLUR, the Cliq allows you to synchronise social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Gmail, all in one place. This makes the the Cliq ideal for those who use social networking as a means of mass communication on a daily basis. Imagine you are a musician or blogger who wants to broadcast your latest article or track to a large audience, all at once. Well, with the Motorola Cliq, you can do exactly that. Social Networking. Your homescreen is your base of operations for social networking. Live widgets on your homescreen allow you to view conversation threads, friend updates, links, photos, stories and much more. You can update your status on one or all of your social networking sites at once, and you can reply to any message, whether it was sent by sms, email or from a social network. MOTOBLUR keeps you up to speed with your friends latest information by automatically updating your contact list with everything from phone numbers and email addresses, to status updates and photos. All of which will be displayed in your contact view, giving you the added capability of communicating with friends and family anyway you wish. With all your information being backed up on MOTOBLUR's secure server, you are able to access it, edit, and erase it, from a remote location such as a Desktop or Laptop computer. You can even locate a lost or stolen handset using the advanced AGPS feature; and if you do need to replace your handset, all your data can quickly be synchronised to your replacement. Features. Available colors are Midnight Titanium and Winter White, and the handset has a sleek design, overall. Weighing a mere 163 g, the Cliq is a light device; but don't be fooled, it is also a very robust one. The Cliq has a 5.0 megapixal, autofocus camera, with no flash; but the picture quality is still fairly high. The handset utilises both a full QWERTY keyboard, which slides out, and touchscreen interface, which makes the device extremely easy to use and navigate. For a full list of features, click on this link. Having worked in the mobile phone industry for over ten years, I have to say, that Motorola have really went to great lengths to produce an extremely relevant and practical handset for the modern user. I look forward to seeing how the brand expand on this unique technology in the future

  • Hold down the hash or star key, works on most handsets. Failing that, check the user guide:

  • I found the Dext to be a bit hard to navigate at first; but once you get a handle on it, it is an ecellent handset. I even wrote a review on it.

  • hi i accidentally press silent , now i cant seems to get it back to normal mode, can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

  • I already answered your question before, all u need to do is scroll down and find out.

  • For Milestone, actually it does NOT run with Motoblur, so any of the problem you heard about Motoblur should "not" affect the performance of Milestone. I've been using my Milestone for about 3 weeks now, have installed several dozens of applicatons and it runs so well being one of the smoothest smartphones I've ever owned. Back to the topic, Dext might have a problem with Motoblur, but since Dext isn't available where I live, I can't get one and further comment. (do wish to get one though) Don't think you even need to compare HTC, if "quality" is what you're looking for, especially voice quality, as Moto simply offers the best in the industry unmatched by anyone else.

  • my standby battery life isnt that long

  • Haw do u get other phones 2 pick up on the bluetooth plz tell me haw as i am going mad thanks from barry

  • Haw do u get other phones 2 pick up on the bluetooth plz tell me haw as i am going mad thanks from barry

  • can anybody clarify on how much internal memory this phone has for installing applications ?

  • ok go to www.dhgate.com

  • 100 moto , whats ur advice between this an the milestone. i have an hd2 which i am selling cause i cant handle a phone without a keypad . now i need a decent android phone till google launches the qwerty version of the nexus .. now i read that the phone hangs a lot .. now i have heard a lot of bad things about the htc hd2 as well but it the best phone ive bought till date .. is it possible to turn off the motoblur feature and use the phone and avoid hanging or all this phone hanging a lot is just bullshit !!!

  • Here is how it works: Dext is the "European" version which supports GSM900/1800 (2G) and GSM2100 (3G), as well as GSM850/1900 (2G) Cliq is the "US" version which supports GSM900/1800 (2G) and GSM850/1900 (2G&3G)

  • so correct me if i am wrong the dext does not run on 900/1800 2g network???? only 3g ?? or does it work on 2g as well ?

  • anybody in india seliing a dext . ill buy .need one asap in mumbai ... let me know on this forum . use another symbol while putting ur email address here or mods will delete it ..

  • Cliq DOES NOT run on CDMA In US (where most CDMA users are located), the CDMA Android phone is the Droid (being Milestone for GSM version) The difference between Cliq & Dext indeed being the frequency, but NOT the system itself. Cliq runs on GSM850/1900 3G, which Dext runs on GSM2100 3G (the latter being used by most GSM countries). Yet Cliq runs on GSM900/1800 (on 2G) as well. So you can get a Cliq from US and the phone should work in other GSM countries (on 2G) If you do know any Cliq running on CDMA, do let me know and US$20 is waiting for u to collect.

  • If u're merely asking if Android 2.0 is released, the answer is: - Moto Milestone is "already" using Android 2.0. Indeed, the Milestone I'm using now runs on Android 2.0.1 - Google Nexus One (made by HTC) is running on Android 2.1 But when will Android 2.0 be available for Dext/Cliq is something only Moto knows. If you're choosing between N900, chances are you need to look into Milestone instead of Dext, unless you really like the design of Dext (which I do, but Dext is not available where I live)

  • hi vish u can buy dext unlock to use in india like we in iran

  • cliq and dext are same phone cliq for usa network(cdma) dext for gsm network cliqxt for usa network(cdma) quench for gsm network the diferent is just for network frequency and but model have same spec

  • can anybody tell me the difference between cliq, cliqxt and dext . i will be buying this phone for use on a gsm network in India ..

  • dext for capacitive screen android os nice design nice qwerty keyboard

  • You cannot send by bluetooth the only way u can send is by messageing and u need internet for that

  • does anyone know when the android 2.0 will be released or even if it will? Im struggling to decide which phone its between this the n97, n900 and also the blackberry9700. Anyone suggest the best possible phone out of these? Thanks Adam

  • simply NOT possible with its current Android 1.5 OS. You'll have to wait til Moto officially says Cliq/Dext can be upgraded to Android 2.0.

  • Hello, can any one help me please?? I have newly bought Motorola DEXT and i don't know how to send pictures , music & files from bluetooth? sorry for my bad English. thanks in advance

  • i like this phone and backflip design sport and Attractive

  • thanks for your guidance

  • Alright, I figured out why the CLIQ always freezes with texts, etc. All you have to do, is delete all of your saved texts and maybe your call log. The CLIQ stores unlimited calls/texts, so using all that memory will definitely slow your cellphone down. I deleted all of mine and it works like new!!

  • nice phone i like motoblur well done moto

  • i agree with you regarding the issues i raised. and like to add it can't support flash player.motoblurtech is fantastic..bur donno regarding the information security.

  • Lately the OS has been very buggy, I'm feeling it all has to do with the expected March release of the 2.1 upgrade, it's going to blow every phone out of te water just like the Cliq did when it was released. Whether you do or don't use or need Blur this phone will rock your world, and until we get the Motoroi (XT720) it will stay that way.

  • I have the same problem with the sms in Chinese character. It doesn't go through. I can't receive or send Chiense character SMS>

  • Mine freezes ALL the time after receiving texts. Sometimes, it even freezes when I just go through menus! This phone freezes so much, I'm debating on getting a cheaper one and use it instead. I love the features on this phone though, just wish they could fix the constant freezing problems with it.

  • Hands-on with the Motorola Cliq XT for T-Mobile's Android line

  • I could not figured out how to send chinese character sms. When i forward the chinee sms but the receipient receive empty sms.

  • nice phone

  • i want to know if everyone else has been having problems like after getting a text the phone just freezes for a little while then you get the choice of force close or wait. am i the only one or does that happen to other people. ive even deleted apps to make my phone go faster. nothing is helping.

  • another miss

  • Poor battery life? Compare to what? Other touchscreen phones with 3.1 inch? Which make / model did you compare with? No Bluetooth transfer was NOT designed by Motorola, who started to offer such feature as early as its A760. The problem lies in the Android O/S, which Moto didn't develop. The Android 1.5 is KNOWN NOT to support Bluetooth file transfer. But I heard rumors about Moto would offer upgrade to Android 2.0 for Dext/Cliq soon, which will solve the problem. Same goes for the MP3 player. Moto has made great phones with good MP3 capability like E1/E2, but again if you can name one Android phone with good MP3, let me know, then we're comparing apples with apples. For the apps, did Moto ever develop any of them? Why blame Moto? And why don't you mention about the good sides of this phone? Its Crystal Talk technology is still unmatched by any other brand in this world right now. So the Cliq/Dext works great as a PHONE, but if you want a multimedia device with CRAPPY PHONE capability, yes, do recommend you go somewhere else.

  • this is yet another poor phone from motorola. the battery life is hopeless, you cant bluetooth pics and videos to another phone, if you use speakerphone you have to have the phone face down to hear it, the free apps are just poor rip offs of the i-phone apps, the sound quality through the headphones is rubbish and there is no flash on the camera. Avoid this crap phone at all costs

  • this is realy best phone for social network access

  • this is realy good phone and the price is very good this is realy best buy and beter than all samsung and lg phone's

  • Motorola CLIQ Getting Android 2.1 in March ? that the Motorola Cliq will receive an update to Android 2.1 in March. Yep, you'll be able to enjoy the beauty of Android 2.1 next month! This follows the news that the Droid will be receiving the 2.1 update sometime this week, so it looks like Motorola is getting all their devices on to the same Android version. The Motorola Devour, which is supposed to launch with Android 1.6, should also be able to update quickly to 2.1 since it runs the same Motoblur UI as the Cliq

  • does this phone use mp3 ringtones for text alerts? how's thje ringing volume overall if i'm in a room with running appliances?

  • And now Motorola is coming out with a upgraded version of this phone next month called the Zeppelin. Its going to have a flash for the camera. No physical keyboard tho. Everything else spec wise is the same.

  • Ive had this phone 3 weeks now, only crashed twice, im very happy with the phone although the touchscreen can be a little un-responsive, overall the main flaw is the heat the battery gives off.

  • When you turn the phone on, you do need to sign up with a account with motoblur. But you dont need the internet on at all times. Its really only for the facebook myspace etc pages. You cant skip it. Thats unless you get it rooted.

  • In addition to that below, if I get my Cliq unlocked, would it still require me to sign up with Motoblur the second I switch on my phone or does it lead me to the actual software of the phone & then sign up with Motoblur when I feel the need to?

  • Dext/Cliq Phone Owners: Is it necessary to create a Motoblur account before you can actually access or set-up your phone? Can't it be set aside allowing you to configure the phone? If I do not create a Motoblur account on the phone itself, can it be done by computer thus giving me access to the phone itself? In order for motoblur to work, do you need to have constant internet on or it doesn't matter? Where can I get the 2.1 update for the android? How is the ringing volume? Any truth to the heat that builds up in the battery after prolonged use? I'd appreciate the feedback fellas.

  • nice phone im looking to get one low price and good features and design

  • can you explain why this phone is Awful to use !!?? wherea im dext user for 4month and very happy

  • beter than all samsung , lg , and se phone

  • DO NOT buy this phone. Awful to use.

  • Hmm... I went down today to try on the handset. I don't like it. It's the 1st handset i tried on android os. Is it the same as compared to others android phones too? I find the camera shortcuts unfriendly. The camera setting u have to press a icon then it will show, no shortcuts to speed up ur needs. If i'm not wrong almost all phones just require to touch on it's screen & whatever settings will be displayed. Then the bluetooth transfer, the sales personel told me i had to download a software to enable it... ... It looks great but sorry, i think i'm not suitable to use it.

  • this is a great handset to use..what is is price? Can amyone tell?

  • The OS that came with the phone: Android 1.5, does "not" support bluetooth file transfer. You need to first upgrade to Android 2.0.

  • does any one no how to get the bluetooth to work with other phone's

  • Can anyone tell me where I can get an unlocked unit (no contract) for how much in UK? Thanks.

  • official website said the bluetooth to be 2.0 EDR

  • this Motorola is the sickest phone in the world i say its better than the i phone my touch

  • Moto CLIQ hacked to enable FM radio, easy listenin' coming soon

  • please review this nice phone

  • Thanks a lot! As a foreigner, somehow I had a very hard time to navigate thru SingTel's website. Hope HK will get it officially

  • can someone tell me how to upgrade the to version 2.0 pls

  • You cannot buy the phone without contract. You must sign up with singtel.

  • I just got this phone and in fact I am typing this comment on it. This phone is amazing, the camera, operating system(upgraded to 2.0), android market, etc. BUT, this phone has a few problems. One, its battery heats up way to fast, way to much. Second, for me, the battery goes by way to fast. I use it heavily during school(bad me), and by the time I'm out, the battery is almost dead. Third, I only got this phone last week, and the phone is getting a bit glitchy. And my fourth problem, the touch screen can be quite unresponsive at times. But all in all, this phone is definitly worth getting. It's far better then my old iphone.

  • I keep reading on here about upgrading to android 2.0 on this phone. Could anyone please tell me.. What it is? What it does? and if it is so needed Where can I download it? Thanks

  • there aint no radio because android 1.5 is unable to support it.as far as i am aware radio is only supported from android 2.0

  • Sorry, mind to quote me the "handset only" (and unlock) price? in SGP is ok as I can do the conversion myself... Or can I get u an A3100 and exchange for an unlock Cliq from Singapore?

  • its available in singapore as of today Singtel the authorised Carrier for this Model $248 with Flexi Lite Plan(S$39/mth) for 24 months

  • Motorala Clip has nice camera, it actually does focus quite well unlike iphone can't focus crap. good moto

  • i want buy this phone next week milestone is realy great phone my brother get it for 2 week and i see it every day and he is very happy for this buy motorola support new android phone very well and i want buy dext for beter price but milestone is realy unique

  • The Q4 numbers are in, folks, and Google's revenue for the final three months of the year was $6.7 billion, up 17 percent from the fourth quarter of 2008. Google-owned sites (YouTube and the like) made up 66 percent of that revenue for a total of $4.42 billion, up 16 percent over Q4 2008. AdSense revenue totaled $2.04 billion, or 31 percent. Schmidt: "The Droid and Nexus One show the power of the Android approach."

  • Can those from SGP share with us how much is it being sold for (in US$)? If so, where in SGP I can get one? Is it unlocked? I visited Moto.sg and it forwarded to the "Asia" site which has absolutely no info on this phone. I visited SingTel & M1 but they seem to "promote" the almighty brand's phone...which already capture 80% of the market share during my last visit...:(

  • But then why makes things more complicated when it could be simplified? One of the reasons I'm still using my Moto EM35/Zn5/E6 is simple...radio! And I can swtich to different stations easily, especially with my good old E6. To be honest, I would really appreciate if you can share with the rest of us...the exact steps on how to download the program and get radio on Android phones. Plus using your method, would that be "streaming" thru data? Even with unlimited data plan, such should drain quite a bit on the battery power, vs. those "built-in" radio in E6/Zn5/EM35...being one of the least power consuming feature. Not that I don't like Android / Dext. In fact, I'm very happy to hear the release of Dext in Singapore. Really really hope Dext will be available in HK as well. (We do have Milestone and I'm also waiting for upgrade to Android 2.1)

  • They don't include the radio because it's a potentially unneccessary program that doesn't NEED to be stocked to the phone when it can be (Easily) downloaded from the market anyway. I don't see how people can't understand this. Android phones dont NEED to come with hardly anything as they all can be downloaded on the market. And if you mean hardware flash, that's a battery drainer, and if you mean software flash, like I said, check the market.

  • If they understand the market a phone will never be made! Consumers are such they want everything on a phone! Just imagine if this was a 3.2 megapixels? We will have more to talk about! It just goes on and on..

  • I've got an iPhone 3gs and I'm thinking to change to this phone when the contract ends in June (by then I guess there'll be a better alternative to the Cliq/dext) one thing I find hard to deal with when trying other alternate phones to the iPhone is that none (I've tried) have the same kind of response as the iPhone. So would you say the cliq/dext is as responsive as the iPhone with things like text input, app launch etc?

  • where's the radio and the flash?

  • This is the 4th phone I have looked at and still no radio - they need to understand the market!!!

  • But is that price being on contract and being locked? I need an unlock one.

  • Motorola Cliq - $149.99 T-Mobile Offering Android Phone Deals That Aren't Really Deals Today

  • Thanks for the offer, I do want to know if the "US version" / Cliq can run European 3G...and whether or not if the phone is unlocked. And why unlock phones are relatively expensive? I checked T-mobile in US and prices is around US$550...but I can get a Milestone for about US$600 where I live.

  • Can the dext be used to access the actual chat section of facebook chat?

  • I like it too, but the screen to small for me. why don't we swap a phone that you might be happy to do so. Instead waiting for your next trip to the US. Thanks

  • nice phone

  • Thanks for sharing, though can you confirm: 1)If you can still run 3G in Europe 2)Is your phone locked? I really like this phone (over Milestone), but where I live I only get Milestone, so I'm planning to get one during my next visit to US. But the handset only price at US%54x is rather hefty, as Milestone is available at US$600 (unlock no contract) where I live. Hence I want to confirm the above, as I would like to use Cliq "outside" of US most of the time. PS. I just realized the Karma QA1 I bought last Oct thru AT&T is locked...

  • I have the US CLIQ and, while it is 3G, it works seamlessly in Europe. And, unlike my previous Razr, it found the right band automatically when I turned it on after arrival. I'm not a techie, but the CLIQ is a sweetheart. If you're T-mobile, as we are, it's the way to go!

  • If you want a "phone" which works smoothly (without hang) and provides clear good and clear voice quality, get the Dext / Cliq. If you want "brick" which often hangs, capture more background noise so the other party can listen to everything else except what you're saying, get the N97.

  • I have an upgrade due soon and usually only ever use nokia. I am now torn between the Motorola Dext and Nokia N97 but have read bad reports on the n97. Could anyone give their opinion to sway me 1 way or the other.

  • n97 is downgrade with poor screen and tragic simyan dext is way way beter design and looking and capacitive screen is excellent and you can update android 1.6 to 2 and moto blur is realy well

  • N97 SUCK AS HELL !!! i bought it and get ride off it in one month and i have iphone 2G now, its way better than sucky symbian phone.. really i aint trusting nokia anymore

  • i live in Iran and i ant to know: if this phone has registration problem in my country ?

  • dext is very beter for beter cpu and os

  • someone can tell me which one is better, the N97 or thisone... and why!!! tnx!

  • the dext interface is very nice unique and friendly and customizable you must search in the dext review in different site i think see several interface picture in the find dext review in this site dext is upgradable to android 2

  • i want some pics about the interface? where can i find the pics?

  • i love this phone great features spec and price

  • yes certainly price about 300-450 us dollar

  • Motorola Droid & Cliq Getting Android 2.1 Don't worry Droid & Cliq owners, you're not going to be left in the dark. Motorola also announced that they'll be bringing both the Motorola Droid & Motorola Cliq to Android 2.1. Which means we should be able to enjoy all the goodies that made the Nexus One so jaw-droppingly sexy on our Motorola Android phones. We're definitely interested in seeing Motoblur and Android 2.1 interact, but that's a discussion for another day

  • Sorry for being late, Moto released Milestone in HK for about US600 on Dec. 21, unlock without any contract. I still want Dext instead of Cliq, as the latter only supports US 3G frequency as I know...

  • I'm investing in this phone on Saturday this week here in the UK on Orange mobile, can you update the android 1.5 when the update becomes available and how would you do this, thanks!

  • maybe a indication higlight to show u the home button

  • can anyone tell me wahats that round LED on the phone?

  • i want buy this phone just fo nice design i realy like this phone

  • thanks ill give it a go.

  • think volume roker are for zoom camera

  • it has push email mp3 works louder than i thought interface is user friendly on a scale of 1-10 10 being best for speed its a 6 or 7 maybe 8 but it can be enhanced through rooting which is like jailbreaking for iphone EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS AT [email protected] thanks

  • The mp3 player is surprisingly louder than i thought it would be. Interface is very user friendly, general speed is out of 1-10 10 being the best id say it is about a 6 or a 7 maybe an 8. however this can be enhanced through rooting which is kind of like jailbreaking for iphones . Michelle the zoom for the camera/ video camera is hidden usually. you have to tap the screen then you will see a bar with a plus and minus on a part of the screen (usually its at the bottom middle) plus is zoom in minus is zoom out IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANYMORE QUESTIONS please EMAIL me at [email protected] and i will be able to send videos (not the best quality due to webcam use) pictures and other things relating to the CLIQ also i will help with any problems you are currently facing. thanks

  • i have had this phone for 4 weeks now, i paid 200 hundred no ebay. although its a very nice phone i have a few issues one is that when im on a call if i get a message it plays my tone and also if someone else call the ringtone plays out loud this can be very anyoing as it one hurts my ear and 2 i cant hear who im on thed phone to until it stops, does anyone else have this problem? also i cant find a zoom on the camera or video camera, is there one? please help

  • thank you i think this is realy best buy for this price and how about phone speed Generally ? and are menu nice and friendly ? and how about mp3 player sound volume is loud for ringtone and music ? thx for your attention

  • Thanks, I will try this

  • The phones display screen has very nice qualities. The camera is a nice 5 mega pixels and its focusing works very well video is the same way and it hardly ever blurs when moving, I got this for about 300. it is definitely worth the the price. The sound dedicated microphone works very well if your in a noisy room it eliminates nearly all the extra noise THE feel of the phone is very smooth, However id say it scratches rather not easy but not hardly, Anything else?

  • With mine I have amazing battery life. I am an extremely heavy data and gps user and by the end of the day I have about 35% left. With my old iphone it would barely make it to 4pm

  • Please GSMARENA when will you have the review ready for MB220??????????

  • Well, I know I'd be using the MotoBlur, if that is what pushes your status updates and stuff from facebook, since that's why I want it :) but still, battery life isn't a problem since I have car chargers and I always charge my phones over night or when I wake up. Thanks for you reply!

  • Motorola's battery does not lasts for a long time it turns bad after 2 years

  • Hi, ive had this phone for about 2-3 weeks it functions perfectly, but one main thing is if you use MOTOBLUR the battery will not last more than a day. However i do love this phone. and i would recommend it

  • Hey all! I've decided to get this phone but only one thing is stopping me. Being this the 1.5 version of Android, and not knowing anything about android, can this support an official windows live messenger app like my Blackberry? And will it support apps for android 2.0? And are there any noticable bugs that ruin user experiance? Thanks!

  • Folks, I am an aggressive user of iPhone, Android & Black Berry. While iPhone & Black Berry are truly good devices in their own way(iPhone an All rounder hit-fairly New comer). But over the last 3 weeks I have been using Motorola Cliq (with MotoBlur) and looks like Android and Moto are pretty close to win the market and users hearts soon of All the Android Phones I have used. Very Crisp to fingures, Touch Interface Kool(very close to iPhone, OMG). Hardware is pretty good (this is just the begining for MOTO). I have recommended iPhone & BB any way. Now I will recommend the Moto Cliq(from T-Mobile) to All those android Lovers...Go For it. Thanks.

  • i'm about to adore this phone. but there is no secondary camera.. huhu

  • Yeah, the Milestone/Droid isn't out here yet, maybe I'll wait another month and see if anybody picks it up, if not then I'll probably get this one, thanks for you help any way!

  • Thanks for your opinion, each day I feel more drawn to this phone... I'll wait until next month and see if the Satio or the Droid/Milestone comes out, if not, then I'll be getting the Dext by the end of January!

  • i got this cell phone today and the moment I used it is really cool and the screen doesnt freeze when you open the qwerty ... it is a good cell phone

  • Your V8 reminds me about my V8... I bought my V8 last Dec, about 2 months "after" my V9. Like you said, the paint (on the battery cover) started to come off, the charger port came off in about 3 months. However, given the very similar design (and in my case, higher usage), my V9 doesn't have any of the problem mentioned above. Unfortunately Dext isn't available where I live, so I can't comment on its quality. Though most of my other Moto phones....Zn5, Q9, even the latest Milestone, should have the quality you expected.

  • Mind to elaborate (for dummies like me) exactly what does "root" do? Is it like jailbreak for iphone? Will it void the warranty?

  • Looks like you should look into Moto Droid / Milestone instead, it should satisfy your needs. I've tried Milestone and the slider is pretty tight, maybe a bit too tight. Suggest you look for "test report" on Youtube regarding Milestone. As for Dext, unfortunately it is not available where I live, though I do wish to get one and may do so during my next visit in US.

  • Motorola CLIQ Gets Rooted Hooray! The Motorola Cliq (full review coming, we promise) has officially been rooted. Which means you can turn this tween-text-teen-social-centric phone into a powerhouse of whatever you like, in time. It's not quite ready for what we all expect rooted Android phones to be ready for--cyanogenMOD ROMs, Sense ROMs, etc.--but we expect that to be all figured out shortly. In the meantime, enjoy the fact that the rooted Cliq won't have to be stuck with Motoblur and will eventually be able to handle anything the devs throw at it! Hit the link if you want to know how to root your Motorola Cliq!

  • Photobucket app now available in Market For you folks who are big into Photobucket, there's now a free Android app for you. With it you can search PB's library, get easy access to image URLs from your phone, and you can upload multiple files in the background. The app's now available in the Android Market. • dext is realy first phone with social network dext have all social network and you can customaize your main menu and they update automatically with new happening and news dext quality is good like alittle like samsumg and lg phone and at compare milestone the quality is down anyway with this price this is best buy and very very good phone and im very thankful from moto for this phone

  • The beautiful phone, with QWERTY and Touch, very cool

  • Also, how's the build quality? My v8 had a really cheap paint job. It peeled easily and the USB cover unglued after like a month. Also is the screen scratch resistant?

  • Hey Moto people! I haven't had a moto since I bought the V8 about a year ago, since then I've had the N85, SE P1i, BB Gemini,SE C902,and an iPod touch, meaning I've used everything BUT Android and WinMo or WebOS. WinMo seems too laggy and the Palm Pre along with this Moto (being the only Android phone available to me) are my two main options for my next phone purchase. But I've read that the Dext is really loose when the slider is closed and the Palm Pre is loose when open, and I'm curiose to see if Android is as open as I've been told, is this really worth buying? I mainly use MSN Messenger, Facebook and Youtube. Any help to decide? Thanks!

  • Another cool feature is the ability to track your phone via assisted GPS if it gets lost. You can wipe it remotely and then all of your information is saved on the MOTOBLUR's servers. Pretty nifty.******

  • motoblur : The slick-looking MOTOBLUR skin for Android has some familiar trends we've seen on mobile platforms. Like webOS, MOTOBLUR aggregates all of your contacts and their information from various sources and displays them in one seamless client. You can also view your contacts by individual network, if you prefer. MOTOBLUR also has a single application for messaging, something we also saw on Palm's webOS. The Messages widget organizes all of your e-mail accounts into a single, universal inbox. One unique feature about MOTOBLUR's Messages widget is that it allows you to send rich text e-mails with colors, fonts and emoticons. You can also attach photos to your e-mails through the app as well.***** Like Nokia's Symbian S60 OS, as seen on the N97, MOTOBLUR uses a live widget called the Happenings widget to give you instant access to your social networks from the homescreen. These are a bit different ..... and other social networks are constantly connected and updated on the app. You can also update your status with this widget and have it go to all or some of your social networks. Another cool feature is the ability to track your phone via assisted GPS if it gets lost. You can wipe it remotely and then all of your information is saved on the MOTOBLUR's servers. Pretty nifty.****** The Cliq looks very similar to the photos we saw of the codenamed "Morrison" rumored GSM Motorola Android phone. It has a similar form factor to the T-Mobile G1with the familiar slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. Unlike the G1, however, the trackball has been replaced with a directional pad that is completely covered while the keyboard is stowed. The front-face features a large, wide-format screen and what looks to be three touch-sensitive buttons. The Cliq has Wi-Fi support, turn-by-turn GPS, a 5-megapixel camera, has a standard 3.5-mm headphone jack and streams video in 24 fps (frames per second). It comes in an attractive titanium white and winter white.****

  • Thanks for sharing your experience. Personally I really like Dext more than Milestone, as of now I can't fully utilize the "power" of Milestone. Unfortunately, Moto chooses "not" to release Dext where I live, and the only chance I can get one is during my next visit in US...probably next Sept, but not sure if the phone will still be available.

  • get this phone with best price just 350$ excelent phone too fast and magic display recommend u 100 %

  • Have had this phone for a couple of weeks now. Overall very pleased with it. Some issues though: 1) On-screen soft keyboard is far inferior to the iPhone, however that's what the hard keyboard is for. 2) Touch screen works well 95% of the time, on the odd occasion, you get the icons in the browser overlapping links that you want - then it becomes a bit tricky. And sometimes it does not register your touches. 3) The accelerometer occasionally can take up to 5 seconds to register that you have turned the phone on its side before it flips the screen for you the right way. 4) Battery life is a minor-ish issue, it can die out in just under a full day's use if you utilize it heavily and have lots of push mail/Facebook/Myspace sent to you. 5) Importing contacts from Outlook was a pain, it had to be converted to a CSV format, and then uploaded to Gmail before it can be synced onto your phone. For the most part it was ok, however MS Excel is not designed to edit CSV files properly and will play havoc with your numbers before you upload it to Gmail. Apart from these issues though, this phone is great. It is CHEAP - Approx $350 to $400 off Ebay. The screen is great and Android is a great platform despite this being Android 1.5. Build quality is decent to good. If you're looking for and Android phone with a keyboard and cannot afford the ridiculous $800 for the Milestone/Droid - this is pretty much the only phone to get.

  • the good and perfecy review for moto dext very usefull

  • gooood

  • The best example of how MotoBlur organizes this information is your contacts. The application collects all of the contacts from your various social networks. If you're friends with the same people on multiple networks, MotoBlur condenses all of their information into a single listing to avoid duplicating data on your phone. You can then see each of your contacts' current information--birthday, status update, current profile picture, e-mail address, phone number, and the like. You can view your communication history with a particular contact as well as viewing that person's activity on different social networks

  • Call quality over T-Mobile's network was very good. I made a few calls on a busy street corner and could hear my contacts perfectly. Motorola says that the phone incorporates two microphones as well as noise-cancellation technology. Callers on the other end of the line told me that my voice sounded very clear, although one noted a faint hiss during our call. The Motorola Cliq is the first phone to showcase MotoBlur, Motorola's skin for Android. Before we delve into Android, however, I should note that the Cliq doesn't ship with the latest version of Android OS 1.6 (more deliciously known as Donut). T-Mobile says that it won't announce any plans for 1.6 at launch, but the company did mention the ease of making over-the-air upgrades via MotoBlur, so perhaps you can expect one later in the year. When you start up your Cliq for the first time, you have to register for a MotoBlur account. This establishes a registration record of your phone on the MotoBlur servers so you can receive updated information without interruption. You then choose which social networks or accounts--such as such as Facebook, Last.fm, MySpace, and Twitter--you want to associate on your Cliq. MotoBlur then aggregates all of the information from your networks and delivers it to the phone.

  • The Web browser loaded pages quickly; but the Cliq doesn't support Flash, so certain videos and pages won't load. Though Flash 10 for Android is coming soon, you'll just have to hold out until it is available. The browser itself is reasonably easy to use: You can open multiple windows, bookmark pages, and search for words on a page. Holding down the dedicated shutter button launches the camera application. My outdoor pictures looked great, with bright, accurate colors and sharp details. Snapshots taken in dimly lit indoor settings didn't fare as well, however. Some test images had yellow or blue color casts and looked grainy. One shot of an acoustic guitar had a noticeable amount of noise in the lines of the wood. In addition, the shutter speed is disappointingly slow, and you can't adjust it, so you'd better make sure that your subject stays put for a good 3 seconds to ensure a decent shot.

  • The Android music player is straightforward and easy to navigate. You can download DRM-free tracks from the Amazon MP3 store, which is a nice alternative to iTunes. Music playback sounded good (though slightly tinny) through the included earbuds. Video playback looked great on the Cliq's 3.1-inch display--but again, I wish that the display were a little bigger. For hardcore social networkers, the Motorola Cliq is a dream phone. You get fast access to all of your accounts and a well-designed QWERTY keyboard for typing long messages. If you aren't into social networking or if you want to keep that information limited to your computer, you may be turned off by the Cliq. The T-Mobile MyTouch 3G might be a better Android option, or you could choose one of the many BlackBerry models on T-Mobile

You can view your communication history with a particular contact as well as viewing that person's activity on different social networks. When your friends update their information in one of the supported social networks, MotoBlur will update their listing on your phone. To see how quickly the updating would occur, I used my PC to change my picture on Facebook via the Web. My picture updated in my contact info on the Cliq in less than 30 minutes. Android is easy enough to get the hang of, but it lacks the aesthetic appeal and intuitiveness of some other OSs. This is where MotoBlur comes in: MotoBlur uses Android's live widget capabilities to bring all of your messaging and social networking activity to the phone's homescreen. At first glance, MotoBlur is a bit overwhelming: Text, talk bubbles, and images fly out at you in every direction. And the text and icons don't pop out as much as the ones on iPhone OS or the Palm Pre do. Fortunately, you have five homescreens to fill with the widgets and applications of your choice, which helps reduce the clutter (a small indicator at the top of each page tells you which page you're on--much as on the iPhone. In addition to the standard Android widgets (Music, Clock, Calendar, and Search, to name a few), you'll see four MotoBlur widgets: Messages, Status, Happenings, and Weather. As its name implies, Messages delivers your most recent unread texts, social network messages, and e-mail messages to the homescreen in a speech bubble. The sender is identified at top of the message in bold, so you can easily tell whether the message is important or just spam. A snippet of the e-mail appears, but when you tap on it, you jump the full message, at which point you can reply or delete it. You can also view all of your messages in a universal inbox similar to Palm's WebOS--or you can view your messages by account, if you prefer. MotoBlur's Happenings widget gives you instant access to your social networks from the homescreen. Facebook, Gmail, Last.fm, MySpace, Twitter, Yahoo, and other social networks are constantly connected and continually updated on the app. Honestly, I found Happenings a bit annoying. Do I really want some random former classmate's status popping up on my phone? Status is fairly self-explanatory, too: You can use it to update your status to one or all of your social networks from your phone. This feature is pretty convenient because you don't actually have to open the application to enter a status update; instead, you can do it from the homescreen. MotoBlur's best feature may be its ability to track your lost or stolen phone via GPS and remotely wipe it. And since all of your data is stored in the MotoBlur cloud, you won't have to reload everything into your new phone. The Web browser loaded pages quickly; but the Cliq doesn't support Flash, so certain videos and pages won't load. Though Flash 10 for Android is coming soon, you'll just have to hold out until it is available. The browser itself is reasonably easy to use: You can open multiple windows, bookmark pages, and search for words on a page. Holding down the dedicated shutter button launches the camera application. • very nice phone i like dext and want to buy it i love dext over all than android phone around best price and best buy = moto dext

  • Not sure about Garmin - don't think I've seen it in the Android Market but there are a couple of other paid ones that are good and there's also Google Maps with Navigation (best nav ever period. free.). However since you mention you're outside of the US - you'll need to learn about how to ROOT your phone and install custom software as well as hacked version of Google Maps with Navigation that works outside the US (currently GMapsNav is in US only beta but works flawlessly all around the world with the hacked versions).

  • Hi to everyone i am about to buy this phone but i have two questions. Can i use garmin for gps?I have used it many years now and it's the best. Also is there an application to load greek language since i live in Greece and will buy it from England?

  • Cliq is another Android made by Motorola and features QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera and hot applications. We made a review here,

  • android is best os at world and new moto phone have perfect features well done moto

  • this is android and very beter than win mobile

  • i think about moto dext and x2 both have proximate features and performance but x2 have beter camera and dext have beter screen capacitive and price

  • does this phone handle DRM protected songs?

  • The CLIQ features 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM and a Qualcomm MSM7201A processor at 528 MHz, which is pretty standard for Android devices. It was no slower or faster than recent smartphones we have tested; there were times we found ourselves waiting longer than we would have wanted but in general it was snappy enough. There is not much in terms of preloaded software beyond the already-covered Motorola enhancements, but with the Android Market now over the 10,000 app mark there are plenty of items for the user to explore and download

  • Videos taken with the CLIQ can be cropped, but that is the extent of the editing capabilities. The MPEG-4 videos we use as test files were not able to be edited. Videos looked great on the display, and while native codec support is weak there are apps for that (or at least ones that are coming soon.) The camera interface is pretty simple, but one nice feature is that when you take a picture it displays your location information and integrates that into the filename. Settings are fairly sparse; the user can adjust resolution, geotagging preferences, color effect, toggle auto focus and choose from automatic or preset white balances. Images turned out quite well however, with good color saturation and above average detail. The color representation was often made better by the auto-correction via the photo editing software, and we were quite pleased with the CLIQs performance.

  • Multimedia and Camera: The Motorola CLIQ utilizes Androids native music player. There is nothing inherently wrong with it, but it could use some more polish. Still, it handled all of the mp3s we threw at it just fine, properly displaying album art and track info. Music can be downloaded OTA via the Amazon MP3 store. Motorola has reworked the picture gallery and video player so they are now prettier to look at. When flipping through pictures, for example, the transition is much like turning a page. The photo viewer allows for picture editing as well. Users can adjust a number of variables, such as RGB, brightness, contrast, color saturation and others, and an auto-fix noticeably touches up images. There is a very cool preview feature where half the picture stays as the original and the other half is adjusted so you can compare the differences. The image can be cropped and rotated, or have the resolution cut down. The user can select from different color effects or add speech bubbles, clip art and frame the picture. All-in-all, it offers some very handy stuff.

  • The CLIQ is without a doubt geared towards the younger generation, and the design embodies that. It is on the small side, which means a smaller screen and keyboard, but is still heavy. It has a good weight to it, but were not crazy about the feel. When closed the slider is loose and when held by the bottom half the top piece will wiggle, but thankfully this goes away when opened. Still, the CLIQ isnt exactly what wed call solid, and the cheap plastic housing doesnt do much to reassure us. The 3.1 capacitive HVGA display is quite nice. The 262K colors offer more depth than screens weve seen from HTC and it is plenty responsive User Interface: Motorolas take on Android is what they call MOTOBLUR. The user can sign into accounts from Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Last.FM, Picasa, Photobucket, Yahoo! Mail and Google, as well as corporate and other personal email accounts. Similarly to webOS, contacts are pulled from each location and merged together, and if a contacts info isnt recognized you can link to other services. Thankfully info from one service does not get pushed back to another; for example if you have a Gmail contact who is also a Facebook contact and they have different email addresses with the two services, Gmail is not updated with the Facebook address. Similarly to HTCs contact management you can view your communication history within a contact, as well as their happenings, or social network updates. The homescreen has several custom widgets as well. The Happenings widget pulls all of this social network info and gives you a constant feed of updates. Messaging offers your standard SMS, MMS, etc. but also integrates Facebook, Twitter and other messaging services. There is also a News and Entertainment widget that displays relevant info. Lastly is Social Status, which allows you to quickly update your status for the various services. The best feature of these widgets is that a tap brings up more info right on the homescreen without launching an app. For instance, if you tap on a news headline it will bring you a brief synopsis, with a link to launch the full story. If you click on a Facebook profile update in Happenings it gives you the full text, ability to read any comments and the option to comment yourself. On any of them you can swipe across the screen to get to the next item MOTOBLUR is not nearly as ambitious as HTCs Sense UI, but we do appreciate that it integrates more services than HTC does. When it comes down to it MOTOBLUR isnt so much an overhaul of the Android interface like Sense is, but rather a tweaking. It boils down to better contact integration (something were seeing in Android 2.0 anyway) and some decent custom widgets. There are also five homescreen pages, instead of the stock three. With the constant barrage of information the interface is very in your face, something we think will be very polarizing. Keep in mind that you dont have to use the widgets, however, and we really did the contact integration

  • Is this phone better than the G1?

  • It's obvious that one of Motorola's highest priorities these days are operator-related activities, both in their native market, the US, and other regions too. But if we get outside the framework of the DEXT being an operator-branded phone, is it really a likable phone? I think the answer is yes. Below is a bullet point list of the good things about it. Reasonable price - most Android-based phones from other top-notch manufacturers are overpriced, so very people venture to try out this new OS. A likable design with a strong youthful appeal 3.5 mm audio jack Decent display MOTOBLUR - we haven't seen it yet, but sounds promising, plus any modification of Android's default functionality is definitely a plus Pretty comfortable QWERTY keyboard 5 MP camera with autofocus A complete set of connectivity options But naturally, the most crucial point is its price - you could find a lot of shortcomings in the DEXT, but all of them will be negated by its magic "150 Euro" price tag. All things considered, it looks like this phone will be great value for its money.

  • beter than x2 for display and price and keyboard

  • dext or x2 which one is beter and why ?

  • Just curious, did you put the phone in airplane mode? If not, any phone with invalid SIM would still try to search through the various network, which easily drains on the battery.

  • this is moto please dont compare with trash samsung phones

  • dext have : beter camera features qwerty keyboard beter design motoblur beter features and beter price so you can choice easy dext

  • is this phone better then the behold 2. I want this phone but also want the behold. So I'm wondering which phone is better?

  • dext or n900 which one is beter ?

  • download media player from market

  • great phone i must buy it soon i hope it come soon to my country

  • Battery is DEAD in less than 12 hours with wifi, bluetooth, and 3G turned off. Have had it for 6 days already, have still not made a phone call on it because apparently t-mobile stateside does not recognize a t-mobile europe SIM card. I cannot get t-mobile stateside to unlock the phone until after 90 days of active service so I'm afraid to have to use the phone for fear of paying $1.29 per minute for roaming. Other than that, the phone is fantastic to play with (again, only for short amounts of time) Could possibly be returning it for a phone that doesn't have to live on a charger.

  • i bought this phone and it was the bomb literally i used it to blow up my cat...muah muah ,uah aahahahhaha

  • motoblur is perfect!

  • this phone is CASH get it

  • this phone is so nice and pretty

  • does anyone know if there is a new os for the dext coming soon!? The android 2.....

  • realy good thanks moto i love this phone

  • Other than the battery life, the best comments will be from YOURSELF by going to a store and compare the REAL phones brand by brand, model by model. Something like size of keypad can be subjective, and nobody knows the answers to your questions other than yourself.

  • Hi every one,pls anyone can answer who have this phone... I need to upgrade my phone now with orange uk,should i buy this phone?is this better then htc hero or iphone?? Someone said here htc hero ui touch screen better then motorola dext ui touch?? Is this phone keyboard is good because i have big finger? Is this phone browsing is good?better then safari?this phone browsing have flash support so i can listen live radio like if u have this phone now can u go this radio try to listen now... Kismat radio or LBC97.3FM. . . . ?pls reply after u have tried?? How about bettery is good?? How about camera is better then iphone or hero?? How about speker is loud. . . ? Pls read carefuly and reply honestly not because u r MOTO fan. . . Many THANKS ;-)

  • Just curious, how can you compare the battery life of a phone with full touchscreen vs. one with NO touchscreen? Look at the size of the screen on Dext vs. E71/72, would it surprise you that the Dext requires more battery power? If you like E71/E72, you should compare with Moto Q9/Q11, not the Dext.

  • Motorala Is The Best Communication Co. Arround The World.I Never Support Any Other Brand I Wish her Always Success. Noor Charawi E.Mail : [email protected]

  • I have this phone and it's really good, my BIGGEST gripe with it though, is the battery life. I was spoiled after owning an e71, but this phone will not get through a single day of use if you have push email enabled, and keep the motoblur interface running. I just find it odd that one of the main selling points of this phone renders it useless. Again, love the phone's design, motoblur is cool, the camera is actually GREAT, but, the battery life just doesn't work for me. Will probably get the e72.

  • With these phone Motorola had make a big advance,is really a cool and handy phone, works great, didnt liked motorola cz their phones were so boring...right now they are raising the brand with these one, only issue the keyboard, keys are so tiny, congrats motorola

  • fast 1.5-2 days

  • I have 2 questions: 1- how long does a full charge last when using wifi? 2- Does this phone lagg when having widgets on?

  • good i like it

  • this is realy good phone i want get it soon im waiting for this phone

  • This is a great device.. yes its a little heavy but you get used to it.. the keyboard is great and the touch screen is very responsive.. for that price is by far the best phone in the market.

  • This is a great phone, I really liked it. But it's too expensive (at least here, in Brazil). And the internet plans are expensive too. But the functions and design are awesome. I never liked Motorola phones. But these one... If I had thew money to keep it, I would.

  • android is best os this is very good phone for me

  • android is realy best os and this is good phone

  • Also im not a fan of motorola btw But im still interested about androids on the other hand

  • A reminder to hit the reply button for you Anyways It's just the comments I read it from youtube and said that the widgets are flaky and the ui itself is slowing down

  • if you want get best smartphone or android phone at world you must get milestone dext is not best android v1.5 around and not perfect but still is one of best today and some features at dext are unique at last with very low price dext is very beter choice

  • you heard bad things ??? this is good phone what bad thing you heard say to us please ??!!

  • Hey guys Which should I get? Mytouch 3G or the motorola cliq? I heard bad things about the cliq so should I stick with the mytouch?

  • Reasonable price - most Android-based phones from other top-notch manufacturers are overpriced, so very people venture to try out this new OS. A likable design with a strong youthful appeal 3.5 mm audio jack Decent display MOTOBLUR - sounds promising, plus any modification of Android's default functionality is definitely a plus Pretty comfortable QWERTY keyboard 5 MP camera with autofocus A complete set of connectivity options But naturally, the most crucial point is its price - you could find a lot of shortcomings in the DEXT, but all of them will be negated by its magic "150 Euro" price tag. All things considered, it looks like this phone will be great value for its money.

  • i see same american or Europe people get korea phone ????!!!! and today this company samsung,lg ,se GRAB selling at market from this giant i realy sury and veeeery amazement for this american guys that dont buy usa moto and desire junky Stranger wherea i live in iran( Middle East)and for 10 years just use moto phone from a1000,v3,v3i,v3x,a1200,e6,z8,zn5,a3100and all of above phone's work good today and now i think about superb dext and milestone but i hope with these new super moto phone the king back to the real station ------------------------------------------------------

  • Analyst estimates 100,000 DROID smartphones sold in first weekend The lines may have been subdued, but one way or another, it sounds as if Motorola managed to sell quite a few DROIDs over the weekend. According to analyst Mark McKechnie at Broadpoint AmTech, the outfit managed to move around 100,000 of 'em during the opening weekend, with most stores moving at least half of their original shipments. He also estimated that Moto would sell one million Android-based phones in Q4 2009 alone (which includes the CLIQ, obviously), and that he viewed the first few days as "encouraging." It's been a long, long while since we've been able to say this, but hey -- nice job, Motorola.

  • Motorola Motus gets FCC approval, Sholes Tablet looking legit As a refresher, this is a device we'd heard would rock the Android midrange with a 5 megapixel AF cam, 3.1-inch QVGA display, and HSPA for a Q1 '10 release, so it's not much more than a tweaked CLIQ as far as we're concerned -- but the big news here might actually be that the Motus filing adds legitimacy to the leaked roadmap where we'd originally heard of it. That document made mention of a "Sholes Tablet" that takes the already-high-end DROID / MILESTONE further upmarket with an 8 megapixel cam and xenon flash, and as you can imagine, we'll be listening to our friends at the FCC pretty intently over the next few weeks to see if we can catch that one sliding through.

  • this is very good phone and realy beter than all samsung os se phone samsung ?! hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa they make new phone Weekly each week one dump phone

  • I think the almighty brand is the one who pays so much....for its own publicity and "no publicity/review" of its old rival.

  • i really think about getting this phone i looks great, seems to be good finished and a keyboard is very helpful. im not such a big fan of social networks but it won't do any harm to have it :) i think and hope that this can rescue motorola from their difficult situation.

  • dext review :

  • The DEXT is Motorolas first Android handset, so we were keen to get a closer look at it to see how it compares to the other handsets using the OS that are currently ambling onto the market. Thats just what we got when we attended the phones launch. Going against the current trend of touchscreen-only Android handsets, the DEXT packs in a slide-out Qwerty keyboard to go with its 3.1-inch screen. Thankfully, both perform pretty well. The touchscreen is the capacitive type, making it very responsive to even the lightest of pokes. We didnt notice much lag either, putting the DEXT touchscreen navigation up there with the best from HTC. The keyboards buttons have a fairly satisfying click to them too, while each key is contoured, making it easy to use without constantly looking at the thing once youve got used to its dimensions at least. It doesnt take up the full length of the device as theres also D-pad to the left of the Qwerty. As you might imagine with a keyboard of this stature, symbols and numbers are inputted by holding down an Alt key rather than having their own dedicated keys. The top Qwerty line is reserved for numbers, which is arguably a little under-optimised, but is at least intuitive in its conventionality. Other than being Motorolas first Android phone, the DEXT is also a showcase for the companys MotoBlur system, which is essentially the manufacturers take on Android. The tweaks it brings are simple, but should be useful for those with a bit of a thing for social networks. MotoBlur harvests information from all the major social networks including Facebook and Twitter and sets up all your friends as contacts. If your friends phone number is listed on their Facebook profile, for example, itll be stored on the DEXT automatically. MotoBlur even keeps track of any changes too, so you can essentially just let it work its magic in the background. If your Facebook friends list is just too voluminous to handle, you can just refer to the phones standard contacts list too. After all, who hasnt got social networking friends theyd never dream of contacting in the real world? Widgets for these networks are included as standard on the phone. Drop one on one of the DEXTs home screens and youll be able to keep up with the latest gossip right from your mobile. MotoBlur steps in once more here too. The last update, say the last Twitter post on your feed, shows up as a speech bubble over the widget itself, giving you even more instantaneous social networking fix. As long as you dont mind having you home screens filled with this speech bubbles, it means that MotoBlur is at least level-pegging with HTCs Sense, the tweaked version of the Android OS used in the HTC Hero. Of course, the DEXTs Qwerty keyboard means its got features above this rival too. It comes with a cost though. The DEXT is a fairly weighty device, and reasonably chunky too. While the slide-out mechanism seems solid enough, theres actually a tiny gap between the keyboard and screen sections, so it doesnt look quite as slick as some slide-out handsets. Mind you, it looks better than the Qwerty-packing Android G1, with its genuinely wonky slide-out mechanism. There are a few nice design touches too. You dont need to remove to battery to access either the SIM or microSD slot, for example, and with the keyboard hidden, its a pleasantly simple-looking device. With MotoBlurs additional functionality sure to appeal to a good number of those looking for an Android phone, the DEXT seems a good entry to the market, especially with the Qwerty seeming, at least on first impressions, pretty decent

  • T-Mobile makes Motorola CLIQ preorder and pricing official, $199 with contract

  • Awesome Phone for Tmobile USA!!! I used to have an Iphone 3G Unlocked then bought the Moto Cliq..Man, the speakers are so loud and clear.. I love it!

  • If anyone who has this phone please confirm - Does this Play Xvid files & MP4 files (Eg. TV Shows, movie rips available on **rrents?) If it does then what's the maximum resolution of a particular Xvid file it supports? Or it needs conversion to play the files? Also does this thing have TV-Out? Can you charge via the USB port as well like the RAZR phones? Thanks.

  • Are you counting the seconds to the official release of the Motorola DROID? Or, perhaps you are a proud owners of the Motorola CLIQ? You must be wondering if there is an easy way of transferring music, images and videos from a computer to your cell phone? And you certainly think its high time we stopped beating about the bush and told you what this is all about? Well, here is what the Motorola Media Link is - in a nutshell, its an application to synchronize your Motorola-made Android-based handset to a normal computer. It allows you to transfer pictures, videos and music as well as organize these files into proper albums and playlists. It also permits people to directly share multimedia content on popular social networks, edit images and create their own ringtones. The program is available via the source link below. We would like to congratulate Motorola on their ingenuity and the release of Media Link, because its the first manufacturer to roll out such a program. Owners of Android cell phones made by another companies will still have to rely on third party applications like doubleTwist. Its not that the latter doesnt really fit the bill, it does, but the Motorola-made software comes with quite richer functionality, not to mention it has been specifically developed for the manufacturers range of devices.

  • of cuz android is better thn winmo

  • Yes this phone has tha android Market with over 10,000 apps and games and yes it has better games than ovi store :)

  • This phone has Android OS therefore it has The "Market" like the Nokia Ovi store and in my opinion its bigger than Ovi

  • yes it comes with the android market withc has over 10000 apps

  • The Motorola DROID, manufacturers first handset to run Android version 2.0 got announced by Motorola and Verizon yesterday. We reported directly from the event, showed you pictures and presented you with our hands-on review of the device. Aside from the official announcement of the handset, however, one more interesting thing happened. CEO of Motorola, Sanjay Jha stated the company planned to release at least 20 smartphones in 2010 alone. Unfortunately, the high-ranking executive didnt mention what operating system these would be based on. Assuming the previous information we have about Motorolas decision to pass on WM6.5 and wait for Windows Mobile 7 is true, guess they will run Android

  • Regards to your post, its os system iz android(like the g1 and mytouch) so the android market is much bigger than the ovi store since it has been out longer. Hope that answers your question.

  • the store's called marketplace and you need a google email account to access it. facebook comes on the phone anyway.

  • Its running Android 2.0. Duh. Its thin. Just slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS and the thinnest QWERTY-slider weve ever seen. It is the fastest Android device weve ever used. (Its running a TI OMAP3430 processor) The feel of the device is very reminiscent of the OQO 02 model computer. Just smaller. Its metal with a non-spring-assisted slide, very sturdy, and half soft-touch plastic. Awesome capacitive display. Plus its huge. Easily the best screen weve ever seen on an Android handset, and an amazing screen overall. The QWERTY keyboard is actually pretty usable and has a soft-touch rubberized finish. Weve been told the keyboard design isnt final on this unit, thus the two no-shows. Have we mentioned this phone flies? Its the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive. From what weve been told, Google had a direct hand in the Motorola Droid. Something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made when designing and making the phone. Interesting, huh? Theres a desktop cradle/charger that will ship with the Motorola Droid that weve been playing around with. It turns your Droid into a multimedia station and displays local weather, the time, etc. No one wants to listen, but it makes the CLIQ looks like a childs toy (partly because it is, and partly because the Droid, even in its non-final form, is the most impressive phone weve used since the iPhone. Its positively amazing). quick office , facebook , youtube , gmail , google calender sync , google map with strrt view , google quick search box , search by voice , google talk , turn by turn direction , google set up , network location provider , google talk , 1420 mah battery -preview/ moto dext Another cool feature is the ability to track your phone via assisted GPS if it gets lost. You can wipe it remotely and then all of your information is saved on the MOTOBLUR's servers. Pretty nifty.****** Quickoffice The same app costs upwards of $12.99 on the iPhone, but Moto is including it for free

  • dext is realy beter than n97 or x3

  • yes u can do it beter than n97 all thing at dext is beter than n97 from os until design

  • does this phone like nokia n97 come with a store like ovi store to get facebook and other games if so is it bigger than the ovi store thanks

  • i wish this phone very soon come to my country iran until i can buy this super phone please moto com soon and please make droid ( sholes tablet , 8mp ,gsm ) for gsm network and world wide

  • i like this phone for design for good os and for good sidkick keybord

  • this is greatest android phone that i see

  • i realy like this phone

  • Looking at videos on the Motorola website, this is actually tempting me.. I think Motorola are starting to get there act together finally!

  • $400 Unlocked Phone. Locked Phone $199

  • what can I say? a litle ugly....

  • ------------------multitasking------------------------ dont you wish you had a robot sidekick that moved at light speed ,could get out of any problem and lived in your pocket ?? soon you will

  • The Droid looks tempting. I actually have an Iphone3gs too and like it, but I get whatever suits my fancy. I actually have my eye on the Maemo OS that Nokia has on their latest smartphone. As far as the Droid being an Iphone killer, I think not. We all know that Apple is working on another Iphone for next year. This is competition though and I like it. It forces all manufacturers to up their game. If I did not have an Iphone, I would have either the Droid or get the unlocked N900 from Nokia.

  • Its true, Droid news is flying all over the place like crazy. Ready for some more? If any of you in the US are hoping for a version of the Droid on AT&T, youre in luck. While a GSM version had passed the FCC just a few days ago, it only had 3G support for Europe;

  • Why would you want to use this phone on ATT? like paying more for less service? Only thing keeping them afloat is the iphone.

  • "Zeppelin" Motorola's new aircraft linked touch-screen design, with 3.1 inches HVGA resolution touch screen, support for 320 480 pixel resolution and touch operation of features. However, important to note that, despite the aircraft also, such as "Zeppelin" like the built-in 5 million pixel camera, but at least in the past to disclose information and does not show the aircraft will support GSM / CDMA dual-network dual standby feature, which has to a certain extent, for the machine to add more mysterious atmosphere But the camera based on machine specifications and market positioning perspective, such as Bluetooth v2.1 technology, music player, 3.5 mm headphone jack, GPS navigation, and memory card expansion features such as the current popularity of cellular phones should be readily available Accordance with the relevant argument shows that the phone will support GSM / CDMA dual sim dual standby technology, thus becoming the world's first to support GSM / CDMA dual-network system, Google Android phone

  • A 3.7-inch, 16:9 touch screen with 480 x 854 resolution. A 5 megapixel camera with 4x zoom, autofocus, and dual LED flash. • Anyone who's in the cellular phone/vhf business would surely appreciate the Qualcomm processor on this 3G phone. If you will recall, the 3G platform was started and nearly perfected by the same company. (TDMA then CDMA, then it was split-up to two variants: CDMA ONE/CDMA2000 and WCDMA.) So, will MOTOROLA please open up its stores back here in the Philippines so that I can replace my current V3X and A780 (besides my "Jurassic" motorola modulus)???

  • is this already available in the Philippines? how much? thanks so much =)

  • perfect for facebook addicts like me! love the free apps in marketplace too. what a great phone.

  • . the people who work for them apparently know nothing at all about technology or so biased that they cant give a fair review. the android operating system is the only one that has absolutely no limitations. only the hardware does. to make a comment like, "Its performance also could be better and the Android OS saddles the phone with a few limitations" is completely ignorant. it is an open OS that with time will rival desktop OS's. the only thing it cant do is flash which it will do very shortly. better OS than the iphone, better hardware and now that tmobile has increased their 3g and has better pricing it now has better carrier than the crappy at&t wireless. the iphone is going to end up how the moto razr eventually ended up, a fad. while android phones are going to end up as windows did through the 90's with an open system that can be used by any manufacturer and carrier. time for the price wars of phones and plans begin.

  • The Motorola Cliq has a great design with a brilliant display and easy-to-use controls and keyboard. Its feature set is rich and functional, and Motorola made some welcome improvements and user interface tweaks

  • Its not heading to India anytime soon.. Its not even mentioned on the Moto Site... Moto still views india as a market for cheap mobiles only...

  • hi..anyone known price of this phone in india????/??

  • so on T-mobile u pay 200$ at the beginning and then u need to pay fees for 24 monthes? i wonder how much would it cost if ordered with pay-as-u-go sim-card???

  • From November 2 is avabile at T-Mobile - starting from $199.99 on a two-year agreement. In Europe, you can have Dext(aka Cliq) for FREE with 35.36 per month plan.

  • how much is this?

  • this is hot bye bye bb storm

  • motorola droid with BGR : Its running Android 2.0. Duh.

  • display quality is qreat and interface and menu are very very nice and lovely this is best

  • Motorola Cliq reviews:

  • There are a couple nice touches that we're appreciative of, such as the blinking light on the front for notifications, which has been on BlackBerries for a while. Great if you don't get a lot of emails or if you don't follow a lot of people. You can also wake up the phone using the facebuttons, not just the power toggle, so two quick menu button presses will get you to the home screen immediately. Having a D pad is going to be useful in the future when Android developers start making games that take advantage of it, but you can use it now in NES/SNES emulators. And the camera is a beefy 5-megapixel autofocus, which produces decent photos compared to other Android phones. Plus, call quality is pretty good, something Motorola has managed to do well even when their software has faltered.

  • this phone is best perfect and nice and very resonable price

  • hows the signal and call quality? hows the keyboard/

  • hows the signal and call quality? hows the keyboard?

  • i just got the phone saturday. the phone is so fun. i cant stop playing with the phone. tmobile is really coming out with this one.

  • some notes about build-quality and hardware in this review

  • i just got mine yesterday and i havae to say this is THE best android phone to hit tmobile usa so far..i lovez it

  • this is the best choice this phone is perfect

  • A good new,the device is really good in voice, audio and browser quality! Bad news,no flash support, camera is good, indeed not amazing and video recording is CIF (352x288) at 24 FPS!

  • good

  • i'd say not a bad mobile at all for the right price,, if it costs 150 euros as mobile-review had stated then this would be a best deal for somebody like me who prefers pay-as-you-go sim cards and is rreluctant to pay 400-700 euros for a mobile!

  • A good video review for DEXT MB200 for Orange:

  • Many very good applications are available there for free, and most of the rest are pretty reasonably priced. Motorola has also included a number of new homescreen widgets that support its MOTOBLUR messaging/social networking system. The new widgets provide quick access to the universal messaging inbox, allow users to post quick status updates, and even let users browse through news headlines that come in via RSS news feeds. The look of the homescreen is much more cluttered than the HTC Hero's, which features much slicker looking HTC-developed widgets, but the information is all there for quick access none the less. The basic look of the CLIQ's UI is dark, with red UI controls for scrolling and such, and white homescreen widgets that can be controlled with finger swipes. Tabs have been added to apps like the contact manager to allow users to quickly switch between history, info, and "Happenings" views. There is no built-in theme support on the CLIQ, though Motorola supplies a number of nice wallpaper images for the sliding 5-panel homescreen, each of which can be customized with widgets.

  • Motorola supplies some additional functionality to the CLIQ user by way of its MOTOBLUR web portal. Once you log in with the MOTOBLUR account you created when setting up your phone, you can log in and use the portal to import contacts, get a rough GPS position on your phone (if you lose it), or remotely wipe all of the data (once you know its lost for good). When you get a new phone, logging into the same MOTOBLUR account will restore your on-device linked accounts as well some of your homescreen widgets. Motorola's included Media Link application for PCs also helps users manage photos, music, and videos on their phone, and can even transcode videos for optimum playback on the CLIQ.

  • Google search is nicely integrated into the homescreen, and I am particularly impressed by the speed and accuracy of Google's voice based search tool. Google Maps, with Latitude, is always a solid performer, too, and it integrates well with the other apps on the device, where appropriate. The CLIQ has a GPS module, but Google's WiFi/cell tower based system works well enough for most tasks, and doesn't put any undue strain on the battery

  • The web browser on the CLIQ, while not as nice as the multi-touch capable version found on the HTC Hero, is a more than adequate app that is capable of offering a near-desktop browsing experience. The zooming controls can be a bit awkward, but the page rendering speed and overall quality are very good. There is support for multiple open windows at the same time, as well, and the fingertip panning and scrolling is quite intuitive. What it lacks is built-in Adobe Flash support and good bookmark management. A bookmark widget for the homescreen would have been nice, too, but at least there is a YouTube client for watching web videos, and the video quality is very good.

  • now i can see Upheaval at motorola and realy very happy for this big company old history

  • lets go new review of dext :

  • but i think moto dext (mb200) is indeed morrison dear friend f4tron

  • bm200 (dext) is realy best android phone with decent design

  • you are a gay fag!

  • how much is this phone???pls...

  • You must be crazy to affirm that Cliq\Dext is a bad phone. It is one of the sexyest Adroid headsets, with great build quality (metal and premium plastic), decent 5MP camera, capacitive display, WiFi, 3G, HSCSD, EDGE, HSDPA, GPS with A-GPS ... MB200 is the first Android from Moto and it is not bad at all. Soon (Q4 2009-Q1 2010) they will release new Android devices : Sholes aka Droid Morrison Sholes Tablet: 3,7" capacitive screen (480x854), WiFi & 8MP A/F+Xenon camera, HDMI Port, 720p Video Motus Zeppelin

  • I like Motorola i and actualy have one, a KRZR K3, but lets face it, they re being left behind the competion....Still 5mp, when there is already 12mp, and the mininum is 8mp for a phone of this class... It s not exactly a thrilling design device either, as it was always Motorola prestige....

  • Oh no! you will F U C K your own A S S !!!!!

  • ok let me to get this phone and then F U C K Y O U MOTO HATER lol

  • ladies and genelmen wir in first of game : '''''''''''''WELLCOME TO TECHNOLOGY ''''''''''''''''

  • a person who buy this fon will be self F U C K E R

  • This phone is F U C K E D Motorola is F U C K E D Moto fans are F U C K E D

  • Never buy motos and you will miss the build quality it offers. Everybody knows that Nokia has bad software (i've asked Finnish themselves 2 months ago.) Not only that, try to test their thin-film cable (for clams, folders and slide phones), then you will know why Moto rules in this designs. You can add Samsung and Sony on that same problem. Most of the phones fixed in the part of the world have that problem: that thin, cable that supplies power and graphics. Those 3 mentioned are the ones plenty in repair shops. Hello Moto! p.s. Moto is not perfect either, but their faults are limited to, a) battery consumption, and b)software problem on the low-end designs.

  • i very like dext design

  • Natty and decent

  • this phone is very interesting wana to test it

  • very very usefull review good job engedgetmobile im sure moto dext is great phone

  • If any one have used this phone, could you give us your opnion regarding voice call quality. The sound clearity and the loudness of the speaker, Thx

  • this is perfect phone good

  • I hate motoblur cause here in the Philippines you need to pay Php 20.00 for an hour of internet connection and since this internet connection is always on I have to pay Php 480.00 everyday, so Php 16, 400.00 per month and with that money I can buy already a highend phone... But in the other country's this is very great.. correct me if I am wrong

  • thancks Jerry we are waiting for moto tao like you

  • The DEXT also comes complete with an integrated phonebook, which allows you to follow the status of your contacts as they update their own statuses on MySpace, Facebook or Twitter etc. The whole concept of integrated phonebooks does offer an ideal way of keeping in touch by utilising new web messaging services, but you really do need to keep on top of your contacts list, as the constantly updating information can soon become overwhelming. It may seem like a good idea, to be registered with hundreds of interest groups, but you will soon find yourself cutting that down to the essential few, as there just isnt the time in the day to keep up with all the incoming data. The feature set on the DEXT handset is very strong, amongst the best to date from a handset running on Android. Apart from the benefits the MotoBLUR UI brings, the DEXT offers such options as a 5.0 Megapixel camera, with autofocus and Geotagging facility. The Built in GPS receiver is assisted by aGPS, and with the excellent Google Maps there is a whole host of local information available, such as directions to the nearest restaurant, cash machine, petrol station, and so on. Google Maps also brings access to the Street View feature, and the GPS unit can also be used with a whole host of third party apps downloadable from the Android Market Moto Blur works by using one central server which interacts with Facebook, Twitter, Gmail and so on, and it filters it down to your phone. Any information on your phone is saved on this server. The advantage of this is, you buy a new Dext phone (35 a month on Orange) and a new simcard, and once you go through the process of setting up your Facebook, Twitter and email accounts on the handset, it imports all of your contacts from all the platforms. You can then go to your contacts list, open up a particular contact and send a message except that now you get to choose which platform you want to send it on. Is your friend more likely to check his email, or twitter, or Facebook? Of course, if he has a Dext as well, the message will appear on the desktop of his phone irrespective.

  • Developed by Motorola, MOTOBLUR is an innovative solution that manages and integrates communications from work e-mail to social networking activity on your CLIQ. Updates to contacts, posts, messages, photos and more are streamed together and synced from sources including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Gmail, and work and personal e-mail. MOTOBLUR automatically delivers these updates to the home screen in easy-to-view streams so there is no need to open and close different mobile applications to keep up with the latest content. A 3G-capable smartphone featuring a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a full touch-screen display, the CLIQ is designed to keep the conversation moving, enabling fast messaging on the fly and easy navigation through MOTOBLURs streams and widgets. The CLIQ delivers a reliable mobile Web experience by harnessing the power and speed of T-Mobiles 3G network and Wi-Fi. Additional CLIQ features include a 3.1-inch HVGA touch-screen display, a 5 megapixel auto focus camera with video capture and playback at 24 frames per second, a 3.5mm headset jack, a music player with pre-loaded Amazon MP3 store application, Shazam, iMeem Mobile, and a pre-installed 2GB microSD memory card with support for up to 32 GB of removable memory. CLIQ also features multitasking capabilities and one-touch access to the Google mobile services millions use every day, including Google Search by voice, Google Maps with Street View, YouTube and Picasa. Easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts is supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. E-mail and contacts are also supported by Yahoo!, Windows Live Hotmail, and other POP3 and IMAP e-mail services. It also combines instant messaging support for Google Talk, as well as AOL, Yahoo! Messenger and Windows Live Messenger

  • oh i like capacitive screen at this phone thx moto , i should to buy one of this phone very nice design but u must make another phone like dext with 3.5" screen full touch and without qwerty keybord ? + beter camera and cpu i wish best to u moto

  • Now everything is where you want it in one place, on tap. Your friends, pics, emails, messages, and Facebook, MySpace and Twitter happenings. Motorola CLIQ is the first phone to come with MOTOBLUR, the only service that can sync them all, with continuous updates and back ups. There are no logins or apps to open, and your data's always safe. Talk about socialized.

  • great this phone is realy best choice for interner working and realy first phone with socila network

  • Hey, people stop making funny comparison between Cliq\Dext and N900 or X2. CLIQ is not the top of the line for Moto. It is just a good cheap Android headset. Wait for Motorola Sholes aka Droid and other future Motorola projects, then make comparison with N900, X2 ...

  • yes its mb200 not mb220 great phone good move for smart phone i like to get this phone come soon moto to iran

  • nope, motorola.com said its MB200 not MB220

  • ====================================================== hey guys u cant compare dext with x2 or n900 cause these three are from three different genus : android - windows 6.5- meamo however dext ,x2 and n900 are same in almost all features and even in design and i bet u dext is realy best android os today i think these phones dext,x2,n900 are best phone today at market at this class good work please dont hate other rival and say true and reality ========================================================

  • moto dext is great phone with very good price just around 400$ just seen n900 ~850-900$ !!!! and x2 too very very expensive . s h i t

  • what is shazam ? good look

  • very nice phone hope to get it soon

  • c d price *** ****

  • What exactly is your definition of bulky? Tell me. SE Xperia = 16mm thick vs Moto Cliq/Dext = 15.6mm thick. Also the xpanel concept is left open to one's preference. Personally I think it sucks. So what if I have 20 panels, how is it gonna look on the screen? I rather just flick through screens. Also SE build quality cannot compare to Motorola. I've owned Motorola's for years and nne ever broke even after many falls. Unlike my gf who loves SE and always have to change phones cause they keep breaking. SE's feel like they are made from cheap plastic.

  • yes, yes,beter than x2 or n900

  • its mb220

  • WinMow6.5 + 8mp camera + great design + xeria panel = SE ROCKS Android + 5mp camera + motoblur + bulky design = moto dext F U C K E D

  • u said this bulky dump will bet n900 & x2!!!!!! LOL

  • beter than x2 or n900

  • its beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest smart phone

  • i have good sentiment about dext i think this is great phone everything are ready to use im glad that moto make this superb phone android and capacitive are great and its memorable that nokia and SE cant use this great technology hitherto all social network that u think are ready to use all time design is Attractive and material and quality builiding presumably like all moto phones are great moto dext is best choice thx moto

  • great features i like this phone for : capacitive screen android os good ram turn by turn gps (unlike other smart phone) good camera google map with street viewer !!nice job nice qwert keybord good memory and nice design and not like some phone like brick

  • its best phone gsmarena please review this super phone

  • thanks to moto for this phone and capacitive display

  • its best phone today want to buy it soon just moto

  • It is Motorola DEXT MB200 not MB220 : Please correct this.

  • When will we have a review of the Motorola Dext?

  • Thanks for your opinion bro! I said too Moto is left behind. Actually I like them, it is an American company, and I like America. I hope they will wake up soon! Big internal memory is a good thing, if you wants to take a lot of pictures, or if you want to make videos. I am NOT talking about p*rn.

  • X2 and N900 will F**k Dext

  • dont' talk abt SE.. dey make crap fones.. tell me 1 SE mobile whic luk beautiful dan this marvel..

  • its got good internals but not the best externals (unlike most se phones, where its the other way round). the design could hv been better but otherwise great phone

  • gsm please review this phone iwant to get this phone

  • sexy design very nice display motorola make TFT capasitive and android os beter than nokia or SE cheers moto gooood job

  • There's no MB220 at motorola.com. I think gsmarena typo the phone model. It must be MB200

  • oh thancks moto for this phone and thanck for my a3100 , very good phone and diferent from other winmobile with good interface and subtle touch display

  • make the review gsmarena this phone is best choice with best technology

  • The HTC Hero has the sense ui because its most likely andriod 1.6 of lower. The Motorola sholes would be running the latest andriod os which is 2.0 eclair. No other phone to date has it. Google designed 2.0 to be he full android experience so the manufacturer or carrier cannot mess with it and put their own shit on it like sense and blurr.

  • N97??? The N97 is a massive disappointment anyway. Shouldn't even be thrown into the equation. We'll have to wait and see if this is better than the Iphone or even the HTC Hero, these two are the front runners at the moment

  • excellent

  • The Motorola Tao is coming late October/early November

  • Motorola Phone Portal enables WiFi PC-to-phone connections, browser-based management

  • Verizon Motorola Sholes not running MOTOBLUR Motorola Sholes on Verizon wouldn't be running MOTOBLUR because it's to be a "Google Experience" device, and while that seemed silly at first, it certainly looks like the device Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam was waving around this morning was running stock Android. How can we tell? For starters, Blur has a different 3G icon in the menu bar, and different icons for several apps -- Calendar leaps out to us here. What's more, that certainly appears to be the default Android search box lurking back there, something that's not part of the Blur homescreen. That's definitely odd, considering how big a bet Motorola seemed to be placing on Blur as its handset differentiator -- and doubly odd since the HTC Hero Eric Schmidt was holding at the same photo op was running Sense on top of Android. We'll have to see how this one shakes out when the Sholes is actually launched, but for now we'd say those rumors are looking awfully true.

  • this is wat will hit out n97 and iphone

  • This phone is available for free on Prange at phones 4u. From orange direct the 30 contacts will cost you 48 for the phone. Orange have got one thing wrong though that I am waiting for feedback from before buying. Hardly any of their contracts have unlimited internet. Some have it in the evenings and weekends which is rubbish. For a social networking phone I think Orange sadly missed the point as to what is need from the contract!

  • just awesome

  • This phone is great!

  • Motos ecosystem partners that have developed solutions and applications for its Android handsets (like the Motorola Cliq / Dext) include: Amazon MP3, Accuweather, Barnes & Noble, Comcast Entertainment Group, CardStar, Hands On Mobile, Howcast.com, MySpace, Midomi, QuickOffice, QuickPlay Media, Superpages.com, RJDJ and Travel Channel.

  • I don't understand why gsmarena has not previewed or reviewed this phone. It has enough hype around it to be worthy of one...all you see is a bunch of samsung, and crappy nokia postings. Motorola has changed the social mobile game with this phone and there is plenty of support surrounding it creating a nice buzz... I wonder who's paying gsm to keep this underwraps...we look to you guys to keep us informed of the hottest phones on the market... shame gsm...serve the people not the companies

  • ohhhh motorola... please return to the philippines.... i want this phone :D

  • LOOKS GREAT, CAN'T WAIT. was about to purchase n97, but i'll guess i'll wait for this instead. good job moto ,cheers

  • motoblur :-------------------------------------------- The slick-looking MOTOBLUR skin for Android has some familiar trends we've seen on mobile platforms. It comes in an attractive titanium white and winter white.**** Quickoffice The same app costs upwards of $12.99 on the iPhone, but Moto is including it for free ------------------------------------------------------

  • Just hope the phone will be available in Hong Kong (where I live), as unfortunately Moto seems to be not exactly serving customers in my region anymore. I'm ready to sell my A3100 and get this MB220

  • nice phone indeed. i'll get this phone next year!

  • brick phone 160+ grms, when they release, make it less weight

  • anybody who alraedy got the phone can give us a feedback?

  • Nice phone. But it have weak processor. Think that Motorola finally wake up from it's "sweet dreams"...

  • smart gets social Now everything is where you want it in one place, on tap.

  • moto dext proprietary site

  • there are plenty of new widgets and apps that aggregate tons of data from various social networking sites into more manageable chunks.

  • now this giant is coming back to the game good have a good time moto i wish u back to sweet days like past years with new phone's that u Present like dext ,sholes, a3100 , a3300c ,v13 , ironman , ... we wish for your successful moto

  • I agree, plus moto have a repoutation for complicated handsets. Damn it, I really hoped these yank giants would fall to the recession boo motto, boo

  • Motorola Dext hits Orange UK on October 7; Verizons Droid / Tao / Sholes may come on October 30

  • ---------- Hello MOTO \/\/ i thinck dext is great for internet working and network searching and is great multimedia with great features and decent display and very nice & friendly design, and some features are very infrequent and proprietary for moto like street viewer, shazam,MOTOBLUR UI,Noise cancellation, iMeem Mobile , free office ,...

  • If you don't know which phone to buy, then better buy an Iphone or something else that's easy to learn, since you won't understand the benefits of the N900 anyway. However, if you know which phone to buy, then it's unnecessary to recommend anything else, since you already know which phone to buy. So why are people recommending this phone for complete n00bs? Those, who don't ask which phone to get, they will most likely get the N900 anyway, and those, who are confused and don't know which phone is the best, they won't most likely understand the difference between Maemo and Android, so they can get the cheaper but inferior Android OS anyway. Remember, not everyone needs what Maemo has to offer, for some people that only want to call, text and do other basic tasks will most likely prefer Android's simplicity, rather than the complex Maemo OS.

  • motorola must make sholes king for world wide and gsm network pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase moto

  • very nice design i must get this phone soon

  • dext is best smart phone with capacitive screen and android

  • N900 is much better

  • But SHOLES is not GSM phone, it is CDMA phone , Can you confirm ?

  • i bet u moto dext can beat n900 very well no need to moto sholes (droid) to challeng with trashy n900 sholes is all smart phone killer sholes is really king

  • awsome smart nice

  • i think moto dext is very nice phone the design is very good and Attractive unlike n900 or x2 n900 is realy like heavy brick hello dext

  • N900 is another crap from Nokia. We can't deny its bad design and Nokia always make bulky and heavy phone. What a crap!!!

  • Why are you even comparing the N900 to the Cliq? You trying to make the N900 look good? LOL!! Those phones are completely different categories. That is Nokia'a current flagship phone i'm sure. You want to compare a Moto phone to the N900? Try this one: Motorola Sholes/Tao/Droid. The name isn't confirmed yet. It would be launching next week. So you want something to talk about? Try these specs: -3.7″ 854480 WVGA capacitive screen -5 megapixel camera -ARM Cortex 600MHz CPU -Facial recognition -Android 2.0 Eclair -16gb hardrive expandable to 32gb via micro sdhc -PowerVR SGX 530 GPU -430MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor) -1420 mah battery -Full qwerty keyboard with 4 rows of keys All this cramed in a 13.7mm thick aluminum body. Are you kidding me here? Your N900 is 18mm thick. Just another brick from Nokia. It's all they know hwo to make.

  • Wow, i'm impressed, *thumbs up*

  • nice phone

  • If Nokia N900 is so good why do you come here to see this and write comments, yes we do see the specifications the web, no need to write looooooooong descriptionshere we came to see moto , why r u here?

  • N900 has unforunately a resistive touchscreen, the interface is high customizable trough Desktop widgets and has multitasking for multiapplications, the price is also wrong,in USA,the N900 is 699 $! But you can't compare both, they are really different!

  • $200 on contract is far too much for this phone. It's mid-end at least, and that means it should be FREE on contract. Just look at the N900, which smashes this on every single spec, it's FREE on contract with several carriers (like T-mobile and Vodafone), and it got horsepower as well, not to mention: - N900 is the first phone to allow 25+ HD videos to run simultaneously, due 1GB application memory - N900 is the first phone to have Bounce Evolution graphics, due not having predessors with weaker hardware - N900 is the first phone to render ALL web-based Flash games (.swf) in 800x480 resolution, either on screen or TV (with IR or DNLA) - N900 is the first phone to allow full access to the X Terminal - N900 is the first phone to render web pages just like Firefox, becuase it has a REAL version of Firefox (not like Opera Mini or Safari Mobile) - N900 is the first phone to have 20+ emulators of other platforms, completly without DRM (I'm looking at you, Itunes) - Independent software (not supporting Google's, Apple's or Microsoft's great monopolies)

  • Price of Moto DEXT announce ii some reay $399

  • Sounds like a good bet. You have a key pad plus a touch screen. best of both the worlds. U have loads of RAM and a good strong processor. would be a hit if its around 350 to 400$. Hey guys any idea if Android has true multi tasking ? i mean to say i can say run a radio station thru a web page and also log into gchat and also browse the net. and any changes in any of the apps would alert me if i need to provide an input.

  • "If Moto wants to survive, they need to produce phones with bigger screens(3.5 inch WVGA, or bigger screens), [3.1 is kind of small, but i think 3.1 is enough.] they need to make phones with 8MP camera, or even higher with good lens, [8mp camera? Thats not even the standard yet, and most advanced phones dont have an 8mp camera. If you want 8mp cameras on phones (and there are some) you should wait till the end of 2010for 8mp to be standard.] If they need to make more phones with Symbian OS(V9.4), they need more phones with Android OS(I know they have some phones, but not with really high-end specs), [1 phone with android for a beginners project is good enough. More phones like that should be available in the future. You sound desperate my friend] they need phones with big internal memory, at least 16Gb internal memory, to compete Samsung, Nokia has 32Gb internal memory phones! [First of all, why the f... do you need 32gb, 8gb is good enough for most things. If you want 32gb im assuming you want to use it for porn am i right?] America is very advanced, but they are NOT advanced at all in mobile phones, this phones does not have camera flash(what a mistake, people want to make photos!) [I agree. Motorola has been out of the game for quite a while. They need a chance to catch up again. This phone was designed to be able to pull off social networking correctly, not to go around and take high quality pictures of your grandma] I hope Moto will wake up, if they not, will be too late!!! [I completely find your statement to be full of ignorance.] I don't have problem with Moto, but they are left behind."

  • awsome features Attractive design

  • how u can talk about 8mp camera and hate moto phone whereas all world can see this ,latest best smarphone from all able brand use this mp and even 3.2mp for their set in 2009 for example: n900 - htc tato - hero - iphone 3gs -samsung corby & blue earth -omnia pro - lg gw620 &lg gd510 and ...........more use 3.2mp then 5mp wherea dext is realy beter in very features than above phones at the moment ------------------------------------------------------ but i believe moto must make 8mp or highter mp CAMERA PHONE very soon but 5mp today is very good enough for smartphone today =====================================================

  • ------------------------------------------------------ ====================================================== i think today many people around the world like to their phone have good features for access to network and widget to see new information and news and ... . and moto dext afford this features very well with motoblur screen and live widget and this is new mutation that moto afford i think flash is not very important for the smartphone because its not camera phone if u want flsh on your phone get zn5 whit best powerfull xenon flash at world and best 5mp at world ------------------------------------------------------

  • I'm the one who added the comment. I would change my sentence "A product will fail" to "A product customer will less consider"

  • A product will fail: -- if it doesn't have the most necessary feature. (Un-necessary feature is waste). FM and flash are not necessary feature. -- if it is not customer specific (From now onwards to future all companies starting to think of purely customer specific) -- if it is not cheap (especially in developing countries it should be cheap) -- if is not fast enough -- if it is not having enough storage -- if it is not syncing with all the needed device -- if it is not having enough frame rates for video. 25fps or 30fps is enough. -- etc. others can be added Now days people think of buying things that are necessary Motorola DEXT will not fail, since it is not having the above drawbacks.

  • very nice awesome great price beter than all smartphone we have review of this super phone

  • awesome phone review this phone soon gsm thx

  • this is beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeest moto

  • I agrre with you on Radio and Flash. So I will keep my Moto ZN5 . I will buy Moto Dext when it is available in my area, I also understand that we can not have every thing on the same phone. But Samsung and Sony like to put every thing in, so they draw in impulse buyer

  • crystal talk technology is great but moto include new tech in dext : Noise cancellation with dedicated microphone for first time in dext

  • Motorola actually develops many phones for emerging markets and not only the USA. The only thing they do that is distinctly American is that most of their phones are Quadband since 850 is widely used in the US. I agree with you on Radio and Flash. Flash for me is mandatory and I still like to have radio even though admittedly I do not use it much. My list of necessary features: Screen bigger than 2 inches MP3 ringtones, player Memory Card slot (don't care for internal memory) 2MP or higher with flash, autofocus is a plus. Bluetooth If I get a phone I like with Wifi, OS, and other bells and whistles then that is gravy.

  • great device if it costs less than 250$ unlocked and not on conract,, u can't compare a low-price device like this with a 700$ mobile from nokia or samsung

  • If you want to see how Moto DEXT can do, watch this video. There are 2 parts. This part one. You will see link to watch part Two

  • Now this is a machine! can't wait to get one!

  • Pros - Little Light on back Pretty Rep Can be used to play DEXT-Stacking-Game tm (copyright mcintyre industrys 2009) Cons - Rubbish name Can't take picture of Koto Keyboard smells DEXT-Stacking-Game can lead to instant dismissal

  • this phone whitout radio and led flash is great led flash is realy naught just xenon flash is practical just moto come soon to india

  • Not all Mobile users live in USA. I live in South East Asia. Often travel between big cities. I found that FM is useful for me. I can get local news any time especially when waiting for flight at air port. I also use camera for my work. During my trip I do not want to carry another camera. To have flash on HP is another helpful fature. Motorola only look at market in US. Moto should look at another market as well.Little bit here and there will boost the sale of Motorola

  • is called Motorola CLIQ check on T-Mobile us' website

  • I would figure you could guess by the posts on GSMA where many of the people are from. Answer: not in the US. It is nice to have radio if you are riding public transportation, or at work. Some people are radio listeners and using an internet-based feed usually incurs a cost especially if you are on the go. I have always looked for Radio in the phones I buy but admittedly rarely use it if ever.

  • LOOKS GREAT, CAN'T WAIT. was about to purchase blackberry, but i'll guess i'll wait for this instead.

  • Who needs an FM radio on their phone??? You must like listening to the latest half-off sale at Macys and endless car sales commercials, coupled with end your credit card debt now commercials! You want music...get Sirius XM sATELLITE (the iphone can listen to Sirius XM) on it....and countless of internet music streams... What yeard do you live in? FM radio is trash!!!

  • to-date dext is best smartphone . awesome and we are waiting for moto sholes(best phone forever) hello moto

  • Major Defect of n900 are : - heavy weight - battery life weak - bad screen (not capacitive) - monotonous design - 100% features like n97 expect os - os (not android) - no Live Widgets and Facebook, Myspace, YouTube and Photobucket ... apps - no turn by turn gps and Street View - no iMeem Mobile - no Noise cancellation with dedicated microphone

  • 256k color capacitive is 100 time beter than 2m TFT JUST capacitiv display and just android os ya !

  • uh god this phone is great moto dext is best choice

  • Major Defect of dext are : -also heavy weight(163g) -internal memory(not 32gb) -no FM radio -no FM transmitter -only 3.1 inc screen -no LED flash -no video call -bulky design -cpu 528MHz(not 600MHz) -24fps video rec(not 30) -256K colors displey(not 16m)

  • I called Moto Indo yesterday. They knew nothing about this phone. I hope that they will have this Dext soon. I want to buy one to replace my old Moto

  • hello moto! thanks for this superb phone!

  • should it come with the rumored price of 250$ it should make a big hit, but i hope networks companies don't exaggurate the price!

  • MOtorola announced their new MC flagship phones! Those phones are very big and heavy, but the specs are good, 806 MHZ CPU, 3.7 inch screen, 3.2 MP camera!

  • Quickoffice The same app costs upwards of $12.99 on the iPhone, but Moto is including it for free i love you moto

  • Another cool feature is the ability to track your phone via assisted GPS if it gets lost. You can wipe it remotely and then all of your information is saved on the MOTOBLUR's servers. Pretty nifty. how about n900 ???!!! lol

  • First off, N900 is all about the software, while this has Android, a relatively common OS. Maemo == GNU/Linux Android == Google/Linux Maemo is miles ahead of Android in terms of freedom. Secondly, can you be more specific? All specs I compared gave me the answer that the N900 was better in everything but the battery...

  • veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery goooooooooooooooooooooooood

  • features a little beter than n900

  • very nice design i like this phone my ideal

  • i bet dis baby 'll beat N97 n sales

  • better than n97 :))))

  • No Radio useless fone

  • Why is this higher rated than the N900? It's worse on every single spec... I smell fanboyism.

  • check here

  • Quickoffice The same app costs upwards of $12.99 on the iPhone, but Moto is including it for free its great news

  • The latest discovery comes from an official Motorola CLIQ site listing off a massive number of various apps that will be featured. Check out the link to see the entire list, but well touch upon some of our favs. /underview.com

  • TFT capacitive is best at world i think nokia and SE need to capacitive and android good job moto come soon in my hand

  • This was for me right? I mentioned Android too, they need to make phones with Symbian, and with Android too. This is what I said. Symbian is a great OS, now I use a Symbian phone, and is awesome! I saw the N97, and is awesome. The V9.4 is fantastic, believe me! :) Moto need smartphones with at least 8MP camera, bigger screens(WVGA screens).

  • Symbian ???????!!!!!!!!!! lol realy u say about symbian ,worst os at world come on android is best os at world

  • lol . what about talking x2 is beter than dext !!!!!!! ?????????? which features are beter in x2 65k color display at 2010 year !? GPRS Class 10 EDGE Class 10 no radio no turn by turn gps no Proximity sensor for auto turn-off no 1 GB storage no Digital compass ?! and 155 gram ?! x2 is loser u can say x2 have beter camera but this is smartphone and no need to very high mp(dext & n900 have 5mp camera) with low features like x2 just moto

  • i like this phone very much than ugly x2 or n97 hello moto

  • If Motorola wants to survive, and if they want to enter in the smartphone game, they need to put these things urgently:8MP CCD camera(or CMOS, CCD is new technology for them), 3.5 inch WVGA screen, Symbian V9.4 with 600MHZ CPU, Wi-Fi(in many phones they don't put Wi-Fi(big mistake)). They also need a Google Android phone, with good camera(with flash!!!), 3.5 inch screen, 8MP camera(not only 5MP) If they will make these things, they will grow very fast!!! I hope they will announce great things at Mobile World Congress next year(I hope for a 1GHZ CPU device, with 8MP camera(with flash ofcourse), 3.5, or 3.8 inch WVGA OLED screen :) ) We will see what will happen.

  • Compare X2 with scholes. Not with dext. And then you will see how android rocks windows mobpile :)

  • Hi, Do you know if it will be available in Portugal any time soon? Peace

  • X2 is better no matter how you convunce us this is better i'll still prefer X2. So what if X2 has no radio I never use that anyway. & so what if only 65k its already nough. and the panel thingy of Xperia is so cool unlike this motoblur(a.k.a. what an ugly name just like the phone). X2 has better design and better games. it also has better camera and has Playnow arena and Media go. X2 has better life cause it has ood battery and SE products have superb quality. And X2 has great user interface.

  • awesome and beautiful

  • does this phone have flash player? If so im totally buying it!!!!! ^_^

  • Well I just had a look at other sites for this phone and it looks like I'll have to find something else. It's too expensive and on contract, which I don't want!

  • Hi! Thanks for the CLIQ link(at androidcentral.com). However, I should have mentioned before that I wanted to buy the phone on Pay-as-you-go, I don't want to be tied down to a contract. So, if anyone knows the full price of this phone plus if it will be available as a sim free or locked to other UK networks. Cheers!

  • hey bo your sense are incorrect for this compare just moto

  • somehow this phone reminds me of this

  • dext price just 400$ great forget n97 - iphone - x2 - n900

  • Read this news for Cliq in UK

  • I like this phone , but will it be available in the UK and at what cost? If it's going to coat as much as the Iphone or Nokia N97,forget it!

  • Best smartphone? This doesn't even come close to those high-end phones right now. The camera is really basic with a tiny 5mp with no face detection, smile detection, image stabilizer and many of those awesome features. It's processor isn't fast either. And, 163 grams!! That's freakishly heavy!! No radio??!! That's like the most basic thing in a phone. And the homescreen looks so unorganized. Motorola should have made something big for their comeback. This phone is couldn't really compete with other monster phones... There's nothing really new or interesting about it.

  • Oh please.. the X2 has a much better design and a really sleek UI and awesome keypad. This phone doesn't even look like a smartphone. It looks more like a budget qwerty phone like the KS360.

  • sweet sounds like the first good motorola phone since the zn5. i missed using motorola phones :(

  • no i thinck moto dext is beter than x2 and n900 with very good price and beter design

  • Camera is 5 MP. Without Flash . No one knows how good or how bad camera is. Cliq (DEXT) not yet sale any where in the WORLD ?

  • Coming Soon to UK, on Orange only. On motorolas website. Means poor contracts and high price unfortunately :(

  • Phone looks great and I always liked Moto build quality as they never let me down. The only thing I want to know is whether their support and software updates will be as regular as HTC on Android, as the OS is still new and being updated all the time. Otherwise this is the best looking Android phone out there, at least in my opinion.
