Nokia 6263 - User Reviews

  • This phone is very interesting

  • I think you posted this comment cause you don't know its a java phone. Not a smartphone.

  • I purchased it last year used. It is a good phone I have it as a backup phone. It was one of the phones I wanted because it was a test phone for tmobile 3g. It was kind of a special phone in that way. I like the fit and finish and the 6133 button would sometimes break when I saw people with them.

  • No certeficate, no software to install bi the way don't buy it

  • great plain cell phone.

  • program

  • please if you have nokia 6263 that is not accessing applications, just flash the phone and request for gprs settings 4rm your service provider.

  • how?

  • Buddy this prob is with most of the users of this phone. its cuz of the sucking T.Moabie thigy. theyv blocked the access for the 3rd party aap. this link may help you flushing and un-branding your phone.

  • When this phone was released, opera and familiar application were totally unknown. So, get serious. I have this phone for 3 years now (i mean it, 3 years!) and i never had a single problem. The problem is when people spend 100 dollars and expect from their phone to make them dinner...

  • the main reasone why this phone is the cheapest is that u can not set an application access(3rd party application access is locked)so u can not use opera or any other smart data application. but when u see the same modele 6131 the same graphics, its price is 2 as nokia t-6263. but yet in on way u can set it contact me at [email protected]. im sure it ill work cause mine does.

  • Pls how can i set the application access ? I need it urgently. Thanks

  • What does flash it mean

  • This is a good phone, except for the battery life. You need to flash it to be able to make full use of the capability of the phone.

  • heyy.....u gatta cheq out tha "ADD DETAILs" option....here u can put multiple numbers into a single contact ! Juz go to a desired contact...then press "details"....from there press "option" ( operated by tha Left selection key)....there choose tha second option..."ADD DETAILs" !!

You guys are right abt battery.. there is a higher rating battery available. its already mentioned in one of the other posts... get one, your battery wil be fine. someome didnt like the screen? he's mad! someone had screen problems? you drop it and yeah it wil have problems.. true.. those technicolour stuff comes from display ic problems.. eiher u got a defective piece or it fell down miserably... most likely the latter... good sound clarity... comfortable... and friendly keypad...

  • its an pretty good phone, but has bad battery life and its messed up on me twice so i had to send it back, twice. but still, its reliable

  • Usb port is not supporting with my PC. What I can do? My operating system is windows XP. Please answer me.

  • I Dont What Everybody Is Talking About But My Nokia 6263 Works Wonderful and ive had it for about 2 years and never had any problems with it and have never updated my flimware or anything the only con:was the battery life. it was pretty short but i bought one on e-bay and its my back up phone now ****Oh Yea Just To Add That Its HAd 2 Years Of Abuse To And Still Works Well =]

  • yes there is high capacity battery for this unit, im using 1800 mah(850 mah oem), now it gives longer talk and standby time, get it from ebay.

  • The battery life is terrible. are there some powerful batteries for 6263??

  • i didnot like 6263 moible screen is not clear seen and its sound work very slow i have this mobile for 2 to 4 days

  • Well, they just lied about battery life.

  • I personaly think this phone is rubbish, i had it for about 2 or 3 months and the screen became technicoloured and would not work. i sent it back, and got it back again fixed, within a few days, it did the same thing, i got it early last year, and now, the screen flashes, it still goes technicolours and stops working, it freezes and at times it wont let me do anything. and randomly will not send messages. and due to my phone being a way to keep in contact with my friends from other places it is a large part of my social networking and interaction. there is no way i would get this phone or reccomend it to anyone. also alot of my friends have had the same problems!

  • it is not available in Egypt uptill now but coming soon in (select mobile) store if u r from alex.Ofcourse its price is not yet known but i think it will be over 1400 L.E

  • i wanna know its prise in egypt can u help me???

  • The version 4.44 firmware- GREAT PHONE. long battery life, great voice quality. CON: Constantly resets itself losing wallpapers and ringtone settings. Version 5.20 Firmware: Absolute garbage. 1 hour talk time- if that. Tons of "error in connection" messages. Constant drop calls even with full signal. 1 out of 4 calls is completely garbelled with tons of static in the line. Lots of "dead line" calls. Where it rings once and doesn't do anything but silence. Still resets itself. CON: The idiots at Nokia who made this firmware need to be castrated without anesthesia. PRO: very good looking phone. Great menu. That is about it. I am on my 6th, yes 6TH refurb.

  • Did you ever get this issue fixed? We have two of these phones and we are having the same issues.

  • I have had this phone for 4 months. Not too happy with it I guess the worst headache is the battery. Only lasts 18 hours, not the 11 days stated in the literature. Second is the ear piece not easy to hear have to position it just right. Wish I could find a better battery

  • The battery life on this phone is terrible! It stays charged for only 12-15 hours, even if I don't use it. I've changed batteries 3 times and phones twice and the problem persists. I don't use bluetooth, as I've heard that drains the battery. Is there a solution to this problem besides getting a different model of phone?

  • Weak point of this camera is the hinge. Guaranteed to fail within 6 months especially if you're a heavy call and text user. This phone is only ideal for those who receives call or text once a day only.

  • there is a separate setting for the ringing volume in Settings

  • dont thick so ... i tried a java pdf reader, it's downloadable, but not executable(you will see "application error", or something else with the same meaning). for dictionaries, i didn't even try, coz most of them are larger than 1M, that means they are not even downloadable or installable. :(

  • Sorry, I forgot to say something. Although the phone itself is quite disspointing, T-Mobile's return policy has made me satisfied. Customers will get the contract extension cancelled, qualified for more phone upgrades, just as if nothing happenned to the account as long as the return session is over (2 weeks). Also, a $10 credit will be added to your next bill as a compesation for the return postage. Honestly speaking, the custume service of T-Mobile is much much better than some of their "new phones". :)

  • I got a Nokia 6263 from T-mobile as an upgrade. However, I just returned it through UPS 4 hours ago. Since I got outrageously dissapointed, I will list the Cons before the Pros. Cons: 1. Short battery life. Battery died in two days after a full charge, no call was made during the two days, neither any Java applications (e.g., games) were used. 2. The back cover is very diffcult to open, you have to use both hands to push badly. 3. The Java only accept applications with the size under 1M. This is even less convenient than my old good Moto RAZR V3. I have a Bible in JAR format on the V3, which is 1.4M. The 6263 rejected the Bible when I tried to install it by the Nokia software suite, the error message is, "application is too large". 4. Accroding to the Nokia-US official website (http://www.nokiausa.com/A4678175), the 6263 contains "language packs for E, LTA, APAC and China". However, in this T-Mobile version, only English, French, Spanish, Portugese, and Italian (or maybe German, I don't remember exactly), were support. Pros: The USB port is "Mini-B", this is much better than the phones with propertiery ports. At least you probably don't have to buy a cable for this phone, existing cables for your MP3 player might be able to do it.

  • my phone is being wierd i turn up the volume no sound only it viberates and its getting to the point i want to throw it away ANY suggestions on wat to do?

  • yea i think it is supposed to.. mine does that also.

  • Where do you get new firmware? From t-mobile or what and how do you install?

  • Well if this phone wasn't a free backup for me from tmo i would have passed (i'm a SE guy, 3G or not since TMO has to be packard bell specific). It's a nice phone and all but i would have never spent money on it. I'd rather spend money on a N82 or the K850i I have, but still, it's plenty perfect as a backup.

  • cool

  • Good phone if it's your first phone and you're clueless as to how badly companies lock down phones. You'll love it even more after the recent firmware update that NSU put out. Thank god for that, now I can use 3rd party apps on Tmo.

  • how come you can not put more than one number on a contacts name;so you have to put sherry's home one contact then sherry' cell on another...

  • you mean flash for the camera there is no flash light :)

  • wel its to thick but not bad quite nice

  • I had 6103. was much better in battery performance and picture quality. Although 6263 has 1.3 MP, the picture quality isn't satisfactory.i had high hopes. very poor battery performance. the music quality on the speaker is average. Only good thing i think is the looks. Main display is hard to read under sunlight. looks like i made a bad choice.

  • where is the flashlight of this phone

  • Does anyone know if this phone when the flip is open, is supposed to display a white screen on the outside external screen? Most phones will display a company logo....but this phone displays just a white screen.

  • I want to know! Can i put Dictionary there?? Can i read PDF file on this mobile. Pls let me know.. if its availible, i will buy it today.

  • I just got this phone and I like it alot so far. The battery only lasts me about a day but I use the music player, radio and text and voice a ton during the day. People are complaining about the audio quality but it actually isn't that bad , I have however noticed the hiss noise but I've gotten use to it since I've had the phone, I think it's because the speaker is so loud, when I turn down the volume a bit I can't hear it all. Reception A+ however I live in a metro area.

  • It's impossible to find a light, durable clamshell phone with a long battery life. This is the closest thing I've found. Battery improves to about 4 days using GSM, it has decent resolution and Nokia software is by far the best. Reasonably priced ~AUD$350.

  • I bought my 6263 in January and overall it has been ok. The voice clarity could be better, but it has some nice features. My battery life has been ok as well, generally I have to charge it every 3 days. I send a lot of text messages daily. When I use it to talk a moderate amount, send text messages, and use the music player, then it has to be charged more frequently - every 1 to 2 days depending on the hours of use. As far as reliability goes...mine quit working tonight. It's about 3 months old and has been handled with care. I've got to visit the T-Mobile store tomorrow. It's got a 1 year warranty so hopefully there won't be a problem getting a replacement.

  • phone is affordable and looks like a decent clam phone. fits the pocket nicely and feels sturdy. i think i'll get one as an extra phone. one question though, could you use the flash of the camera as a flash light?

  • Love the Nokia 6263 the mp3 player is flawless and the phone is very easy to navigate through.

  • I noticed the same problems and a few more - static while talking, bad voice clarity - hiss even when not on call from the voice speaker - slow menu response - low reception, i compared with a blackberry on t-mobile - average battery life - music player also not good clarity - my phone has a protruding keypad frame on the left.. only pro: - nice physical design and soft buttons. overall, i wouldn't recommend this phone.

  • This phone really needs to be called back. I'm on my 4th replacement since December. My battery life is way off. The reception is terrible especially in a home area. And another problem is the voice clarity always seem to turn itself on. And I noticed alot of static when talking to someone.

  • I loved my Nokia 6101 of two year ago so when I saw the 6263 it seemed like a great upgrade. I loved the feel and weight - same keypad, navigation as my other so that was bonus, not having to learn a new phone. WHAT a MISTAKE!! $70.00 after rebate in January right? Today they are FREE, the only real complaint I have is the Biggest for me. Battery time!!! NO WAY is this 270 hrs of standby, right out of the box I got 2 days of use from the newly charged battery. WHO is reviewing these? Every review sounds like a dream. I make an average of 3 calls per day, about 2mn 40 seconds each, don't use the mp3 player, don't surf the net, even had the salesperson turn off anything that might be draining the battery like the screen saver and I barely get 24 hours standby on the thing. T Mobil did send me a back up battery but what a pain. The 6101 would last me a week, turned on the entire time -charged every Sunday evening. This is a HUGE dissapointment. Two years to go ...I think I'll find an unlocked 6101 on ebay and cut my losses.

  • This phone ROCKS it has very good design and has lots of featuresa and I think this phone is the most beautiful created by NOKIA

  • I'm a SE but when i saw this phone it looks good and for all of the phone of NOKIA I like this the best! this phone is good! and has lots lots of good features

  • To anyone that is interested in a similar product with a slimmer design, may i suggest the Samsung e730. It has the basic versions of features that this phone has in a sleeker design.

  • this phone is actually intended to be an upgrade from the 6126/6133 - albeit a small one, and i prefer the design of the former. however, the t-mobile version does remove the weird DRM stuff that was on the t-mobile version of the 6133 (like not being able to set MP3s as ringtones or allowing data access from 3rd party apps) but it does so at the cost of a cool sleek design before. it also looks bulkier. this obviously is a phone that was designed tightly with US carriers intended to benefit the service providers, not the customers which is why so many people flock to ebay to buy unlocked versions of euro phones rather than deal with the watered-down pieces of junk nokias that the us carriers provide.

  • a downgrade version....

  • this phone is very far behind from Nokia 6267!

  • A downgrade for the US from a good phone that i have : 6267. This one is 1.3 MP and not 2 MP, has no flash...etc What is the point of this phone ???????????

  • humm... what's the upgrade here?!

  • Um... This looks a lot like a slightly downgraded version of the very similar-looking 6267 (a 1.3MP camera instead of a 2MP unit, etc.). I also do not see anything of the mentioned flash for the camera. And like others here, I can't see any secondary camera for videocalls, either. Perhaps the GSMArena folks were looking at the 6267 by mistake? Or maybe Nokia changed the specs?

  • This phone has been out for a little while now. I think I saw that GSMArena mentioned this phone had a secondary videocall camera. Not on this phone.

  • yo, me 1st one. looks very good phone with good features and display. but will not be able to outclss 6233 which is the best NONONSENSE phone.

  • im first ! weres garry? lol anyway Nokia have just made this or announced this ?
