Nvidia Shield - User Reviews

  • Hello everyone. This tablet is amazing. I do love it. It is for gamers but in my case, I use it for other issues and it works very well. I fully recomend it. I hope nvidia will give a new model soon

  • I bought this tablet in 2016, and still is amazing how it works with real competitive games like PUBG mobile, or Vainglory, the sound and the display are perfect. For now still amazing gaming tablet

  • This tablet is awesome, i bought it in 2014. It had some issues at launch, nvidia replaced mine but now its rock solid. Its 2017, had android 4.4 at launch but now has the second update of Android nougat 7 (!) not even my nexus 5 had so many updates! Not to mention full compatibility with dualshock 4 and alot of other cool stuff. I hope nvidia releases shield tablet 2, i could not care less of shield TVs and such.

  • It's actually miniHDMI.

  • I have owned this tablet for at least a year, it is the best tablet i have ever used. It is compatible with Nvidia Graphics cards allowing you to stream your PC games over WI-FI which is an amazing feature. There is also a subscription service where you can stream recent game releases over WI-FI. It is still been updated and has recently updated to Android Nougat. Not had a single issue with the system and runs smooth as butter. Best £300 i ever spent!!

  • It has a micro HDMI port located at the top of the product and that will allow you to use "Console Mode" and use a tv as the screen

  • Is the hdmi a output or input?

  • I saw that there is a controller for the k1. Does this controles also work on the directstylus? Can I use my ps4 controleren too?

  • Yes it can. It's still one of the best (game)tablets today.

  • all games can run in it without stopping?????

  • i have the old shield tablet running mm and it's still the best tablet ever.

  • I bet your partner agrees

  • Is your nvidia the older version or the new? Just want to know if the older version can be upgraded to marshmallow.

  • I have the SHIELD running Android 6.0 running flawlessly, very smooth and reliable tab with decent battery life (entire day of heavy gaming usage, 6h SoT). Still worth my money. Also speakers are awesome.

  • warning ... some detractor of that tablet warns other user about minor issues, yep some model had batteries issue and were "fire hazard", seriously ... mine was in the batch, altho under Zombipop so no killswitch almost 1,5 years without any issue nor overheating (on opposite to my MiPad and Nexus 9...) also Nvidia replaced my "dangerous but still working perfectly fine" 1st Shield Tablet by a brand new one sealed, not a refurb like some stated they got, and only 16 days wait time (U.S. => Switzerland) the Shield and Shield K1 are 2 of the best tablet around at a unparalleled price ... bashing those is only nonsense. not even the current tab gen is reaching the knees of the Shield Tablet, funny? eh? as i said even the MiPad (the version that use the Tegra K1 64) or the Nexus 9 (TK1 64 too) beat it... (poor design overheating etc etc etc ) ofc those are good tab but as i tested all 3 i stayed with the Shield ...

  • You can see the screen grid when shut off but not so bad it makes you cry.

  • I am replying this message from my shield Drawing is pretty good mainly because the tip is tilted & you can have the thickness yoy need

  • To all the nvidia shield tablet user : Anybody tested drawing or sketching on the other device (sony, samsung, htc...) using the directstylus from the nvidia shield tablet. And how is the result? Is it respond to the screen? because I am only interested on the directstylus. Please help me test it. Thanks in advance :)

  • The recall is for a version of the battery in SOME models. The battery is no longer used and free RMAs were issued. New models should not be a fire hazard. I'm more worried about my toaster catching fire than my Shield Tab.

  • DANGER! This tablet has been recalled due to a potential fire hazard. The battery can overheat, leading to this very case of danger. It is recommended to stay away from this tablet and go with the normal ones.

  • Wow, really? Noon camera?

  • what a waste. you got the thread wrong mate

  • Can you see the digitilizer grid on your Shield Tablet?, Specially with the screen off?

  • After upgrading to lollipop 5.0.1 I can't transfer a file from my internal memory going to my SD card, some apps doesnt work good like my NBA 2k14 it is crashing in the middle of the game, it is said I should root the device to let my ES file transfer a file to my SD card or go back to KitKat.. Need help or suggestion.. Nvidia is a good tablet before I upgraded to lollipop what seems to be the problem? Plsss help..

  • It has to be a good laptop or a PC that has a NVIDIA graphics card, so you can play lighter games with NVIDIA portal, but if you want Crysis 3 at 60 fps, go get a decent NVIDIA GPU. Because I have an AMD GPU.

  • if you experience problems with lollipop restart totaly de tablet so de atualization runs acurately

  • After lollipop it is a bad tablet. It often freezes, when plugin in it dies and I can barely turn it on again. Very slow in browsing the net sometimes, it can be stuck.. Unhappy . the plastic material around edges has scratches without even dropping it out hitting it. It is getting hot.

  • There is also a 4G LTE version you know? it also has 32GB storae

  • Nope... Not yet at least...

  • Is there any smartphone that uses the nvidia tegra K1 SoC ?

  • I'm sad because you need a pc/laptop with Nvidia GeForce to play the games in the Nvidia Shield, i don't have any computer with these graphics, only a Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and a laptop with Intel Core i3 :(

  • too good for a gaming tablet but i think to give better screen size and resolution i think 10 inches is great

  • It would have been a great tablet if the dispay was better and with 10 inch or greater and in the same time batery would be biger, the ram i think 3gb would be better. i am sad that its not the parameters i wont for that i will not buy :((

  • No problem, there is another nVidia lte version available. :)

  • no 3g or 4g? this suckc also noob camera

  • lollipop is fine for me. make sure you update your apps. and then check again to make sure everything has updated fully. also make sure to get the nvidia hub update from play to get the grid option which allows you to play a fair amount of titles gratis

  • Just got this device today and i quite like it. Its the first tablet i've ever owned so i cannot do comparisons. My background is as a PC user and i got this to allow me to game on the go paired with a GTX760. This device is quick as you like and plays the games its meant to with a quick enough 5KHz wi-fi connection. I'm obviously disappointed with the lack of PC tinker-ability but i've also not had enough time to really delve into the possibilities. A big downside for me is that i was expecting to be able to miracast from my tv to this and i can't detect it, although the casting does work in youtube from the tablet, even though it is a bit laggy on my router. The main problem with the display is the reflective surface which is probably required due to the lack of backlighting and not so great contrast; possibly to keep the energy consumption down a bit. I await my controller and 64GB SD to really see if it fits the purpose

  • With lollipop is not good it's so glitchy

  • GSM Arena, please review the Nvidia Shield Tablet. We would like to know its results, especially after the latest Lollipop upgrade.

  • if i palyed the same game or browsing youtube on nvidia n nexus 7 2013 wz the same brightness and other things which one drain battery faster & heats more ??

  • as for the battery - screen on time is arround 5-7 hours. depending on what you do. it is not the best battery back up but it is ok. Sound is very clear but not as loud as i would have expected. Screen is good, not very bright but good, UI is smooth and fast, camera ok for a tablet. The power button is a little hard to press. Same for the volume button. Till now i am happy and impress with the proccessing power within.

  • I would say Nvidia. it has one of the most powerful soc on the market (except nexus 9, which uses 64 bit version but has higher pixel count that could impact on performance). It is faster than nexus 7 (2nd edition) so go for it. Best regards

  • Believe in the Shield (that was before they broke up) ... but this Nvidia Shield looks horrible!

  • nexus 7 2013 or nvidia shield ?? i know the specs difference but not many people tested it epcially battery feedback plz hlp me & thanq in advance

  • Battery onlu about 5300 mah

  • Who is the capacitive touch ASIC solution supplier?

  • awesome tablet amazing waiting to launch in INDIA

  • please review this device

  • great specification
