Samsung Galaxy S8 Active - User Reviews

  • The Samsung S8 Active over all is amazing. Great battery life, super tough, pleasing design, great operation, and much more. The only complaint I have is the finger print unlock thing is on the back and hard to find with your finger instead of the previous design of the thumb print on the home button.

  • To upgrade it to android pie you need to download the firmware and flash it.

  • How do I update my S8 active to the new os ?

  • Great phone but i couldn't figure out how to root it. Does anybody know how root it? My device is g892u.

  • haw i can update my phone

  • After update to One UI my Samsung Galaxy s8 Active improved from every sectores. Battery life increased, Night mode helps me to consume 40% less battery. Almost 14 hours SOT. 2 days in normal use. Excellent performance. Audio quality, Call quality, Music quality, improved. One UI is very clean UI that i have ever used. Love u Samsung for this Update.

  • thanks for your advise .

  • hairdryer to the USB port for 30 seconds fixed the "moisture in port " can't charge issue...for me

  • you can charge by cable, turn the phone on as soon as it comes to life plug the charger in, you can bypass the moisture error this way

  • I brought a used Galaxy S8 active in ebay, no issues with that, but i also from the same seller got an S7 active, and that one does have that issue, so i would just suggest to buy an brand new one from Samsung or a retailer and then get warranty in case that you get that issue.

  • Dont buy it! Durable. great phone but defective. Moisture warning will trigger even though device has had no contact with moisture. Device can then only be charged wirelessly. Seems to be a bad update or glitch. Most likely to make sure customers need to buy a new phone.

  • How are you doing today

  • Try ebay. That's where I usually go to find hard to find parts.

  • i am from Egypt i need back cover .i didn't find any thing in Egypt .haw i can get spare prates to this phone

  • All my research on the web shows that galaxy s8 in north american has a snapdragon processor which allows fm radio use through the nextradio app. but when I tried to install the app I received message that the device does not have access to fm radio. Has anyone else had this problem?

  • Hello; May please tell me how to recod a call? Thank

  • Look at XDA forums. there are little roms for s8 active. there are no roms at this moment for s6 and s7 active.

  • How the heck did you install a custom Rom on galaxy s8 active, and if so is there a custom Rom for the galaxy s6 active as well!?

  • best phone I've EVER had. I've just slamdunked it onto a stone floor (reflex move after it slipped from hand), NO DAMAGE. Phone is awesome after custom rom+root.

  • Can anybody send me a link where to buy a camo blue galaxy s8 active!?

  • I dont care about yur country lol , why indonesian just hi im from indonesia , weird

  • I have the samsung galaxy s8 active and my experience with it has been mostly positive. I find it to be a very rugged phone. I do not have a case on it and have dropped it pretty bad a few times and its still in good shape. I do have a tempered glass screen protector on it to protect the screen because they are designed to shatter before the screen and so far that as proven to be the case. However i did have a major issue for about a month where my phone decided to say my charging port was wet and would not charge my phone. What a pain in the ass that was. I figured out how to get it to charge somehow and now have not seen that again since. Not sure if it was a system bug or not because my phone has never been wet, plus this phone is supposed to be water resistant. Apparently up to 3 meters for up to 30 mins but i call bullshit based on that little problem i had. Phone runs good but i recommend being careful with what you download and do regular maintenance to it. Good quality video and pretty fast processor. I give it a 7 out of 10 overall. Afterall it is technology and technology is not full proof. Hope this helps. I do recommend getting a wireless charger and have it on hand if and when you get that pesky moisture detected in charging port fault. It will be a lifesavor if it happens to you.

  • How is ur experience with s8 active its worth it can o bye it

  • This phone is NOT shockproof and NOT waterproof. Phone dropped flat on hardwood floor and screen cracked. This is just the same screen as their other phones. They did not use the shatterproof screen like the S7 Active. A rainy day can make the screen fog up and the charge port fail. What a total waste of money. I should have gotten a Pixel and added a good waterproof case.

  • hi...i'm from indonesia...and all samsung galaxy active series since S6 active works perfectly in any carrier in indonesia....without tricks or mod at all... active series are not officially sold in indonesia but few importer sold active series (used condition) in here....

  • I am torn between choosing the OnePlus 6T or the Samsung S8 Active. I currently have a S6 active and it still looks and works like it did on day 1. I like the durability of the active models, but the 6T just looks like a superior phone tech-wise. So I'd like to hear opinions for and against to help me choose. Active has an SD Card slot capable of 512GB but 2GB less ram, Active has larger battery but what looks to be slower and older OS/chipset/CPU/GPU. Price is not a deciding factor. In a nutshell, I am a family man who mainly uses his phone as, well, a phone. Never watched any movies on it, have watched a handful of youtube videos when really bored, have a handful of small simple games (like puzzles) to pass time periodically (nothing too complex) take pictures of my family and pets periodically as well, never really take any videos, I don't have social media so selfies and such never take place. Looking forward to your thoughts!!

  • phone design to last for a year I got this phone for it advertising on being extra resistant and to have extended life battery, well after a year of using it the battery life reduce to 2 - 3 hours, in regular use, i still have active warranty so i sent it back for repair, after a couple of days they came back to me to tell me i have to pay 500 for the repair because it has scratches in the back cover. they refused to service my phone under warranty. worst part of the story, i had the Samsung galaxy active 7, same issue, but this one last around 14 months, so when i try to go for warranty, it was already out, that's why i really think they are design to last for a year. For me samsung is over, i will go to OnePlus now.

  • Let me start off by saying I've been a long-time active fan I've had the Samsung 5 Active 6 active which five was the best platformer ever 6 they dropped the ball on not being able to add external memory the seven did not get a chance to try it but the 8 active it depends on what you use it for I think the Bigsby system should have been able to deactivated completely it should have been optional I voice text and it does not work well with Bigsby I've had the problem since day one and I hate to hear that there's no longer going to be an active line they're very tough phones long battery excellent pictures then waterproof and sometimes the health side of the phone help but overall if anyone is looking at this post I think they seriously drop the ball on the 8 active it had so much more potential JustFab making Bixby system the Mainstay of the phone really ruined the phone especially you look weird talking to your phone in public but it was a good concept it should have been able to deactivate or disabled

  • I love my little iPhone 5S. Tough little trooper. Gave me many years of service. Retired it for an iPhone 8, but always been curious about the Active S8! Looks awesome but read it wasn't as tough and hard to repair on top of the buggy updates. Also the cancer stuff I had seen online was a weird series of complaints from people. But really want this phone bad

  • Bro i live in turkey I don't have good experience in gsm bands can you tell me will it work at turkey

  • - no 32-bit/384kHz audio?

  • Best device ever used workung perfect with all carrier in pakistan. Thank you Samsung

  • wonder if Samsung is deliberately sabotaging S8 active so PPL will buy 9 and 10

  • Whether this product is available in india?

  • with a username like that i don't know whether to trust you...

  • Phone stopped working after 8 months. Had to pay 160 dollars for data retrieval and have a new phone sent out. Not impressed. If samsung continues making shotty products I'll take my business elsewhere.

  • it's been so glitch. The phone always says it has water in the usb. Turning it on has been an issue sometimes it wont turn on unless i plug my charger in at the same time i hold volume down and power button. I've always bought actives this is the worst one yet.

  • It should work if you het a us carrier like at&t

  • I listen to my phones radio every day. Just download the station App. I like KCBI FM.

  • Hi, I am in China. the unlock version of this phone works here.

  • Howdy guys, would anyone know if Samsung s8 active will work in Asia if I buy an unlocked device in the the US? I don't understand Samsung limiting this device to the US market. Thanks

  • So I've had one for a couple of months. S8 Active, that is. It has suffered two falls from approx. 3 feet in height and has three chips, two resulting in minor (so far) spiderwebbing. I'll vouch for water resistance, shock resistance, I can't prove dust resistance (since I'm not in a dusty environment), but I can say with 100% certainty that the screens on these phones SUCK. And almost NOBODY will repair it, and not for less than $325. Before you ask, yes, I have a case with a raised bevel. Functionally, the phone is a beast. Great camera, memory, speed, battery, etc. Good luck being able to use it for very long if you don't keep it in a magic case. Why have a phone with all this power if the glass is so thin it chips and spiderwebs at a minimal drop? I had an iPhone 5s and was happy to make the switch because, well, I despise the proprietary Apple business acumen. However, that iPhone 5s took several years of abuse and never had so much as a scratch on it.

  • hello! i was wondering what is the biggest micro sd card i can go up to with this phone? ty!

  • you can go to google play store and the go to play store setting and then on the auto updates apps at wifi or mobile network keep on and then back to the menu and restart the your problem shoud be soutout. keep try this and check

  • You need to clear your cache for your apps. Here is a link to show you how to do it.

  • I like this phone very much but now it has a problem. My biggest problem is that it is not downloading or updating any app it say update google play services and when i try to do so it's not updating again.I have tried to erase all data and start again but still. What can do now

  • Hi Kindly share the baseband version of the each carrier...i am looking for unlocked at&t baseband . Thanks in advance.

  • Next radio works on mine

  • I like the phone, the weight, the specs are good enough for daily use and the battery is SPOT ON! When the phone is in my pocket all day, hanging on my belt or very seldom to my ear since I'm a Bluetooth user and looks or aesthetics are of no concern because I could care less what a phone looks like or what other people know I'm using as long as it does what I need.... Long story short 4000mAh battery, 3.5mm jack, and expandable memory? make this a phone worth using

  • As long as you happy with this kind of designs, I am sure I won't pick this as my rugged device. Even LG lugged design is still better option but I am more interested to Sony because the design is absolutely unique and gorgeous!

  • Sorry to piss on your bonfire, but the S8 active is not realy about aethetics to begin with. It is all about rugged design that will sustain drops, fall, or impact. There is a reason why is there are bumpers in the corners as well less screen to body ratio compare to S8 (means more bezels) since more glass = more to break and S8 active removed the infinity screen so that upon impact, the side metal would absorb the force rather than the glass. Simple as that.

  • It should have a radio.

  • as far as i know, the phone is only available in north america

  • No, there is not. The US Spec GS8Active doesnt have a radio.

  • Dear Anonymous ELTb, the Samsung abuse their staffs until some of them deaths, you may search from Google. If you love Samsung please ask them find their honours and pride.

  • well mangaboy.. you are not from japan. but you worship japanese. i tell you the truth: japanese love iphone, sharp, and samsung. But they dont like sony. japanese said sony is bad. oh i got nice link for you to open your japan-minded:

  • Nope

  • Hi there, is there a FM-Radio built in, or is it possible to activate one? THX

  • Not a chance 😂

  • The Japanese aesthetics always better than Korea. I have the great experience with the Xperia! Do you remember the Samsung S5 back cover is so weird then now the S8 Active? I know you hard to accept it, but this is the truth. I admit Samsung S8 actually better look than S8 Active, but the S8 Active's 4 corners actually should not design like that because it is ugly like a sink/bezel. The S8 Active back cover design should be more simplicity but I thought Samsung will never learn it, I think it is the marketing strategy to keep S8 have more competitive compared to S8 Active, without bias do you think am I right?

  • Day 124, Still waiting for a miracle that this device will be released internationally

  • bezelless, good fast ui with many features, most acurate oled screen, and great customer support. wow samsung is so good. xperia is ugly, good ui but outdated featureless and ugly, poor old lcd screen, and worst customer support. dont compare sony to samsung.. because samsung is too good. sony cant even beat china phones. so better to beat china first then compare with samsung. LOL hahaahaaa

  • Bezel-less is innovative??? What wrong with you? If bezel-less is innovative it must be started by Sharp Aquos S2 or Xperia ZL.

  • Looks tougth. The iris scanner is faster then apple face id because there is a setting on the samsung which allows for instant unlock whist no swiping the screen.

  • The back cover is totally ugly especially the 4 corners, honestly. This is the marketing strategies, if you want durability you will lost the beauty, but if you want more beautiful phone you will lose the durability and bezel-less will also losing the selfie quality and losing the fingerprint scanner at a nice placement.

  • That's what they said, 16:9 or 18.5:9 is cropped and 4:3 is native

  • Why does the shortcut button have to become the Bixby button?! Why Samsung???

  • Not many people have heard of this phone...

  • ISN'T THIS PARAGRAPH WRONG?? "The Galaxy S8 Active captures images at a resolution of 4032x3024 pixels with its 12MP sensor. However, you have the option to change the image's aspect ratio from the native 4:3 sensor. Thing is, we'd advise against this since it crops pixels away from the sensor, leaving you with a smaller field of view. If you still want to, you can crop the frame to a 16:9 aspect ratio or 18.5:9 so the image fits perfectly within the entire area of the phone." TRY TAKING A 4:3 VS 16:9 PICTURE.. YOU MAY BE SURPRISED THAT THE 16:9 IS THE CROPPED VERSION AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND (WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE PICTURE, NOT YOUR PHONE DISPLAY. THOUGH THE DISPLAY MAY BE FULLSCREEN IN 16:9, THE PICTURE IN 4:3 RATIO CAPTURES A WIDER VIEW. TRY IT FOR YOURSELF.)

  • Does this phone will available in malaysia market?? Really need this phone as i’m active personwith many outdoor activities involved.. thanx!!

  • Why this thing can't be in EU, i just don't understand!

  • The corners are rounded. By definition a point-less device.

  • Wow, Better battery, Samsung you have done so well on the battery this time. Good job done. I would love to own one of this because of the battery and strong body.

  • Why?

  • This is a pointless device.

  • s8 active have slow motion video recording option.???

  • I love this phone, no flat screen, looks cool and the battery lasts forever. That's just a start, I could go on but to summarize,. Wonderful device!

  • It has barometer

  • For t mobile there is one version that will have 600mhz

  • It has. Its in the activity zone.

  • Active without BAROMETER ?!? Come on , wake up ! Look the competitors, how it's done !

  • I'd want it with a nice case to further protect it and the built-in protection because even though the phone is basically made with a case, that non-removable case can get messed up in no short time, plus there are still reports of broken glass, so extra protection is needed. Also, I wish Samsung (and others) would stop the madness or region-locking phones by disabling bands.

  • IMO, the mistake made by Samsung since the S4 Active was not making an optional "Active Case", as was available for the S4 Active. I found mine purely by mistake and hands down, this is the best addition to these phones. I've dropped mine numerous times with no damage. Plus it's cheap- 10-15 Euros and gives those who want it extra protection with a minimal size penalty. Combined with some hardened glass protector, it's superb and one reason I still stay with this old phone. I know the phones have built-in ruggedization on the cases, but falls damage the bumpers and don't provide the most protection for the phone.

  • I have just purchased the phone. I have read all the comments and I have my own opinion. You have the S8 with a built in case and a big battery. Really what else can someone ask for? If you buy this phone thinking it is an S8 then your wrong. You will get out of this phone what it is and what it brings to the table over the S8 and if that suits you then it will be the right phone for you. I have had a S8 and now I am using a S8+ until I copy all my info over and neither battery lasts a day for me. I love the screen and the phone it's self but the battery and the fact of being nervous if I drop it with the lack of bezel on the screen. Hopefully the S8 active will last the day and the design of the phone is more what I want out of a phone. Again it is a personal choice of what phone to use but so many people get a phone to just put on the tables next to their keys to show off rather than what a phone can do for you and what they were designed to do.

  • i just purchased the active 8 and it sucks. the physical body is designed all wrong. my active 6 took a beating and was still in great shape. it weighs more and the screen is marginally bigger. I dropped this phone once and it has two cracks on the glass. the sides are very slippery and the rubber grip is only on the corners. who grabs their phone on the corners and they also changed the charger so now I have to spend another 100 bucks to have the same charger in everyplace I go why????

  • if you can found the "unlock operator" version, hence, you can use it but probably the boot loader won't to being unlock if you wanna use some other rom

  • Can i use it in iran?

  • I m using s6 active atm, and really its shock proof, many times its fallen from my hand and u dont believe no scratches on it. Appreciate samsungs efforts

  • IP68 certified - dust/water proof over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes - MIL-STD-810G compliant - salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant -- I guess only water and dust proot will be the truth others nahh just a gimik

  • I have had this phone for 1 month. Loved it until 2 days ago. My boyfriend and daughter had been trying to call me but they texted me and said it went straight to voice mail. So when I tried to return their calls, each time I tried the call immediately dropped without even sending it. I restarted my phone. I was able to call my boyfriend, but then tried to call my daughter and it dropped immediately again. I restarted my phone and it let me call her. Well she forgot to tell me something during our conversation and tried to call me right back, but it went straight to VM again. She texted me this, I tried to call her, it dropped, I restarted my phone again. You see the picture. This has not stopped and my phone will not receive calls at all without a restart, but if they don't call me right after the restart, the same thing happens all over again. I am taking it to AT&T tomorrow but it doesn't sound good. Mentally preparing to have to send my phone back for warrenty, or at least swapping for a new phone (I hope)....but am now sceptical that this could happen again with a replacement galaxy S8 active. Otherwise....I love my phone. Hate that this is happening.

  • Um GSMArena i am waiting patiently for you to do this review. IPhone came way after and no S8 Active

  • That sounds like the reason why it hasn't been released globally yet.

  • There is. It's included in the Bigby assistant, according to Samsung's website

  • anyone know when this phone will be selling global?

  • So, no barometer any more?

  • Too thick..

  • GSMArena I am patiently waiting for you to get this review underway. I appreciate all what you do.

  • If Samsung releases a dual sim variant of this phone, it would be a great hit.......

  • Can I use it in Malaysia?

  • When will they make active version of the Note series??? That would be AMAZING!!!

  • All mobile are bad who has back glass body , without cover if you use mobile will be not safe , one time fall back side will be break

  • Only Cat12 600/150 Mbps .... no infrared ... Ordinary specification ... still waiting good phone

  • Definitely waiting for this one. If this phone gets international variant with Dual-SIM slots, that may very well be my next phone. Also, hopefully the international variant will launch with Android O or 7.1.1 Nougat at least. Also curious if the international variant will have Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 835.

  • Nope, the cat s60 is horrendously overpriced, smaller battery, much worse screen, smaller size, terrible specs. It might be slightly more rugged, but it's giving up too much to the point of extortion

  • Screen mirroring? Any idea

  • does it has dual sim ?

  • The Cat S60

  • Got one, was looking forward to it, turned itself off after seven days, phone would not turn back on.. Brought it to AT&T ran Diagnostics phone was bricked, meaning wouldn't take a charge, lost all data pictures and contact information, AT&T replaced it since it was only one week old, got the new one, same exact thing happened this time after 6 days, I have now spent 8 hours at AT&T in the past 2 weeks and have now had to deal with the inconvenience of sending the phone back to Samsung for repair and now have to go 10 days without a working phone.. Wonderful when I haven't even made a single payment on this $900 piece of crap..avoid at all costs!

  • Please, review this excellent gagdet!

  • Yes, count me in for that wish.

  • its like a military grade phone ??

  • Hi Gsmarena..guys you are marvellous..am a big fan. Would you kindly do a review of Samsung galaxy s8 active? Thanks

  • Love the phone both spec and how it looks. For me almost perfect (and I’m woman not Rambo)

  • Guys Anyone has an idea when the AT&T exclusivity will end oe when this device is going global ?

  • Name one phone that does that

  • I work on a farm six months out of the year, and contract in the various war zones for the other six months. iPhone in an Otter Box has always been my go to. Project Fi is my carrier for global comms. If they release this S8 Active factory unlocked without carrier subscriptions, like the rumor mill says is bound to happen, it will be my next phone.

  • Why take the phone kayaking??? 1: Emergency purposes 2: Camera 3: GPS 4: Weather service 5: Having a job which requires me to be able to be available for questions 24x7 via phone, email or text message. Sorry if that's a strange concept to the McDonald's crowd. sure there are non-Samsung phones that you could take. But absolutely NONE of them I've tested bring the flagship level phone to something I can actually put thru the ringers, on my off days and tolerate when I'm at the office. Sorry LG, the G6 is a good phone for the most part. Just not impact resistant at all. The V20 can take the lumps but it's not water resistant. Put them together in the V30 and I'll revisit that one. Cat... great if you don't mind carrying around a mid range phone that's built like a tank and only slightly lighter than one and costs as much too. Don't bother trying to use it as a daily driver in an office either. Kyocera tries to play in the same league as the Galaxy Active phones. But it's not even close. Battery life is decent, camera is poor, software is a mess, performance is middle of the road, and it's connections are so-so. Moto, HTC, ZTE, Huawei might be options if they could improve water / impact resistance or at least start offering it. Especially Moto with their impact resistance. Sony give me water resistance but absolutely no chance of surviving the hits. So so battery, good camera. Also a bit pricey Blackview is actually half way decent all things considered. You will have to give up a large reputable company if something goes wrong, and they don't have good LTE support for US bands (in most places none at all). I have to give them props for great battery life, in a well built phone with decent software / specs for the money. The camera is surprisingly much better than I thought it would be. Sonim can take the beating, offers a great battery, but they're just so expensive. Plus they aren't meant for pockets on pants. They are built for backpacks. The rest of the specs are blah, and the camera is no good. Oh and the beloved iPhone... don't drop it... oh no. Water resistance, though stated in the specs water damage is NOT covered by the warranty. And we'll never mind that gloriously poor battery life and the whole "Apple's way or the highway". And yes I've tried plenty of phones, more than most people can due to my job. But according to some people I'm a Samsung fan-boy. Oh well, so be it.

  • 1) FM Radio is a safety feature as well, and comes in handy in cases of natural disaster as well. 2) As Samsung is the context here, a bigger RAM will translate into a better performance, not only today but over the life cycle of the product. 3) Just because Samsung has been doing well as a market leader, doesn't mean it is at the cutting edge of innovation. In terms of innovation, it definitely needs to wake up, and up it's game. No need to be a blind follower, and set your benchmarks low.

  • no it was made for at&t

  • me too! from s5 active to s8 active

  • I work in a hostile workplace.. same specs as s8, this is a no brainer, wth does the curved screen offer, ffs, it screams ,insurance replacement.

  • This phone will come to malaysia?I really like this phone

  • this will be released only in usa? the only reason i not went for s8 because of dump edges which are uncomfortable and pointless screen resolution because most stuffs goes 16:9

  • Bluetooth® technology v5.1 + EDR, A2DP, LE, aptX®

  • Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.1

  • Because the LG G6 has crappy battery life compared to this and won't take the hits this can take. It's as simple as that.

  • And with a powerful first finger to press the back button.

  • 208g and use the back fingerprints in a 5.8inch device, it must be a strong man to hold the giants beast.

  • I upgraded from the s5 active to the s8 active. Best phone I have ever owned. Battery life is amazing! Love it.

  • yea. edge is annoying when ur doing games, notes, typing, and more prone to cracks and scratches when dropped

  • Judging a high end phone specialty being garbage is nosense. Think about its proccessor, screen resolution, special features, etc. You're clearly just a guy who hates devices when you can't afford.

  • Dad look! A samsung hater!

  • Would you please give me a link to a smartphone with the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB or more of RAM, and top end specs in a touch case with flat screen??? I have been looking around like crazy, and all other tough phones I can find have older, slower guts.

  • You buy a phone because of its brand. Theres a lot of rugged phone that are better than this for that specific purpose.

  • U clearly just a samsung dude. Atleast you could find cheaper with same same military test passed ;). Why would u bring ur phone in a kayak anyway

  • Its bad in design haha. They almost copy lg g6

  • I have only 3 cons from this phone - Heavy - Fingerprint scanner not at right position and - Costly should be atleast $600

  • there is two version dual sim and only 1 sim

  • There's NO WAY a `S8 Active' has a 2560x1440 screen, With the S8 and S8+ having 2960x1440, why would they go back to what the Note 4 had! I want my PPI! (Ahem,.. for Gear VR ;")

  • Anyway garbage for 850. Which not many people are willing to pay. So making phones like this have almost no sense.

  • not dual sim ????

  • it's a specialty flagship. That's why. drag a regular S8 around on a weekend long kayaking trip and see how well that goes. I don't worry about it with the active phones. have had them since the S4 and never broken one. can't say the same for the note 2, s5, s6 and s7 edge that have been dragged along on those same trips. they require extra cases, dry boxes and everything else.

  • most people wouldn't care about fm radio in their phone. its all about ram management, bigger ram doesnt mean it will perform better. look at OP5 with 8gb ram, it doesnt improve anything and compare it to 2gb or 3gb ram on iphones. fyi, samsung has been the market leader for years (in terms of sales and market share).

  • Holy cow! Next to the S7 Edge this thing weighs a TON (feels twice as heavy). It's close to double the thickness while loosing the curved screen. But that battery is a BEAST. Fresh off the charger in the morning to a 35 minute call. Knocked it down to a whopping 99%! The speed of the unit isn't earth shattering next to the S7, but it's no slouch. Few minor things that I have to get used to though. for starters it's slippery on the sides. No physical buttons is weird and the location of the finger print reader is just weird.

  • It's available on the Samsung website for $700. Currently still exclusive to AT&T though.

  • Please do a battery test of this one like you did in the previous versions

  • No Radio - AGAIN? How about Tri Sim, for the international traveler ? 8GB RAM? Samsung - Time for you to up the game, become a leader not a follower.

  • No edge, but they scrapped the durable hard plastic frame for a metal one that is more prone to scratches and dents. The textured back also feels cheaper than the one used for the last 2 Active models

  • Man I see your point, but can you see how is the price in this phone is even more expensive than the original one just because is waterproof and those stuffs, so can you imagine if they places all those new features you want the price will be on clouds XD, and also it is the same model so it has to be in the same level no worse no better, but is making compensations on some features that the other one did not have as the waterproof and dustproof as we already mention.

  • yeap is just freaking awesome!!!!

  • thank god it does not have the stupid edge

  • It is good phone but it does not have edge

  • Hloy crap its so good

  • It is freaking awesome. I pre ordered one yesterday when it opened up, and have a meteor grey one on my doorstep by 1pm today. It is amazing, fast, and I'm fighting the urge to drop it to test it. The thing is stout, and looks like it will take a beating and walk away the winner.

  • It could mean the active one using 16:9 instead of weird 18.5:9

  • y, the pixel last was 576ppi n new were 507ppi..ey! new should be better ma..n sum more S7active suppport underwater mode shootin'..y no such mode now?..gettin' worser?..congrat..fingerprint on bak..n iris scanner too..they should put the 6GB ram arena 4 dis newTank!!

  • finally a flagship without weird aspect ratio

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, the regular Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have screen resolutions of 2960x1440 pixels. Why does the Active only have 2560x1440?

  • Can someone tell me what on this garbage cost 850 quids???

  • Its screen looks like LG_G6

  • Looks nice but a little bit too expensive. It should have been $700-750 to make a killing in the market.

  • screen is like lg g6 -.-

  • Much better than the S8.

  • Very Ugly Phone. whatever rocket launching capabilities even if it has

  • I want one!

  • Pricy but worth it.I'll buy one asap!!!

  • More like around $ 800.00?

  • Its cool for many buyers.that's all matters not for the ones who don't like it.JUST SHOT UP.

  • im agree with u. doesnt have radio!!!!!!!! its shame ..

  • I have the S6 Active and believe it or not my camera has beaten the S7 and this S8 active. I wouldn't mind a larger screen but honestly I am more interested in the processor. I have seen where this snapdragon is one of the newest out there. My phone has to be able to stand up to the elements. Thanks to both AT&T and Samsung for the Active models.

  • The following would make this a true ACTIVE device: (1) If this is an outdoor phone, why it lacks GPS-BDS as per S8 & S8+. (2) Outdoor phone should have a radio!! This does not!!! (3) Being an outdoor device, it should have more than one very bright flashes for photography. (4) It should have Zoom (5) It should be able to get very close to small objects without loosing focus (6) Why is Bixby necessary on any phone? On another note :) please remove bixby from the Note 8

  • Please also in Europe!!!! :)

  • If only it wasn't AT&T exclusive, I would buy it rather than the S8 because of the 4000mAh battery. :(

  • This is good. Probably this will be my favorite device. I use IPhone 7plus and Samsung galaxy note 5, but I am thinking to drop my note 5 for this device once it's out. I can't wait to lay my hands on this phone..

  • Awesome work. You've just proved you are super dumb! Your prize is: a ton of Cookies! Did the S8 blow? NO. Will the Active blow? NO.

  • funny comment i ever see one another samsung's boy

  • All the Samsung top models looks same and expensive like everything from Samsung. Only difference i see are bezels. Bezel less phone is rubbish and ugly. Like car without bumpers. Or like woman without breasts :-)

  • If you mean speakers, then in the future they may get a lot better as things tend to get better... but if you're talking about the DAC then that's a lie.

  • normal s8 you can use only on mall at home but that Samsung galaxy s8 active you can use that even when its apocalypse and that phone can stand when zombie are invading the city good for survival again zombie , werewolf , vampire , aliens and etc

  • Mobile phones don`t have High end audio. Have never had and will never get.

  • Quick Charge 2.0 !?

  • - IP68 certified - dust/water proof over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes - MIL-STD-810G certified - salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant -- is this for real ?? maybe this is like a gimmick ..

  • I cant wait to order mine in camouflage with the 3.5mm jack! High end audio does not have bluetooth yet.

  • >Why not buy the LG G6 Galaxy has better navigation. S8+ G6

  • If you the active version why not a compact version ? S8 is to big , some of us , won t buy a phone that look like a tablet even no matter how good it is in rest

  • Oh idk, because this ugly version of the s8 is actually a necessity for those who are very prone to breaking their phones, or those who are in need of that extra battery

  • It was better to have a memory of 128 g

  • Hope it have flat screen and bezels. Unless that its a crapz looking phone. And as i bet a super expensive one from Samsung like everything. Even for a crap they will ask 10 times more than the phone should cost

  • Price should be maximum at $499, but since its samsung they would have probably put $650 price tag

  • Android 7.0? Good one Samsung. Good Job. Android Areo is almost out. 7.0?

  • Why not buy the LG G6 instead of this ugly looking version of the Galaxy s8

  • The devices are not the same due to resistance features, Active devices counts with MIL-STD-810G, making them stonger than other devices against salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock.

  • just a question what's the difference about Samsung galaxy s8 active to the normal s8 ?

  • Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 4 technology (not 2)

  • Would be nice to have this phone in Europe. AT&T can have it alone in the US :)

  • With this phone being nothing but rumor so far how would you know what the phone's going to be made of when Samsung hasn't released any information yet? People like you need to learn how to read cause the disclaimer clearly states "Unofficial preliminary specifications. Product image for illustrative purposes"

  • The back is not glass. It is a rubberized plastic.

  • On market. Manufacturing price is believe or not about 350-375 eur. Rest you pay for Samsung expenses like production, science, research, advertising, delivery cost of staff etc.

  • s8 active has much higher price than regular s8 phone

  • This so called well build phone looks ugly. Anyway it can sustain some damage but still i wish to replace position with that testing guy. I dislike Samsung for couple of certain reasons and some other mobile companies as well.

  • Maybe can sustain some dmg but replace cost like new phone. Stupid.

  • Here, a direct quote from the video: "The Galaxy S8 is an incredibly well built phone, definitely a candidate for my daily driver." Your argument is explicitly false.

  • Durrability? Watch on youtube jerry rigs everything and look how durable is Samsung S8 not much.

  • haaaaaaah nope display and milspec durabilty game over

  • They should offer this to other companies aside from AT&T

  • Sound like Sony.

  • Hopefully the Note 8 will have a battery like this (rumoured) of the S8 Active, although I don't think so, due to what happened previously, but hopefully I'll be wrong. And if not the Note 8, at least hopefully the next year S9 will incorporate a battery like this (4000mAh).

  • If because of the nature of the phone they included physical buttons on this model, I would be a little tempted to opt for this device over the Blackberry Keyone to be honest.

  • This should be emp proof aswell looool

  • That is not the final product it's just a pic of the S8

  • People on this site are ridiculously stupid. GSMArena always has the disclaimer up, but you can have people bitching in the comments about an unreleased phone a whole 3 months in advance.

  • "Product image for illustrative purposes." just read the page, dude

  • Almost there is no difference design of Samsung galaxy s8 with galaxy s8 active now, this difference with samsung galaxy previous version, galaxy s6, galaxy s7 and galaxy s6 active, galaxy s7 active more looked military design, but now galaxy s8 is can't differentiated both.

  • Phone looks great for 400 eur not for 1000. I bet Oneplus can make same phone with same or better specs for much less price. Good bye Samsung. Finaly.

  • We also want Samsung Galaxy S8 Passive +++ with at least 5000mAh..................... :-D

  • You're an early adopter never expect value for money, you're buying 'hype', a pride among the first buyer. Why you're not happy? Atleast you can show off you can afford s8. Smh..

  • I felt so bad after I purchased s8. What the fck they are doing? At least give my s8 value for 1 year first

  • why don't they put 4k mAh battery to their regular S8 nor S8+ lmao

  • far S8 active please give the battery size of 4500mah
