  • The correct way to set up bluetooth usb dongle in Windows XP and sharp 550sh handset manager is as follows: uninstall any sharp and bluetooth software (windows installer cleanup utility can be used to blast any reluctant software from the registry but you have to clean up the directories afterwards) remove all folders called btw, WIDCOMM or sharp install your bluetooth dongle software with the cd which came with the dongle reboot plug in your usb bluetooth dongle - various devices are set up check that you have an incoming and an outgoing serial port and a bluetooth modem (hardware manager - view - show hidden devices) just to be sure, delete the incoming serial port and create a new one (usually in "local services) tab of the broadcomm/widcomm set up) if you do not have a bluetooth modem, install one using manual driver install It can be found in the folder "program files/WIDCOMM7Bluetoothsoftware/bin" assign the serial port of the bluetooth modem to the new incoming serial port you have created as above and set it to the highest speed (control panel, telephone and modem options or similar) start the phone's bluetooth and set the phone to be visible pair the phone to the pc from the PC - using the broadcomm/widcomm option "add bluetooth devices" Install sharp 550sh Handset Manager software (can be downloaded from the website) reboot return the phone to the default startup screen open "handset manager" and set the interface to the one used by the bluetooth modem. the pc should show icon activity and "pc connection" almost immediately

  • No good the bluetooth dongle only works very occasionally with handset manager. Similar problems are reported with the handset manager of the 770sh... has anybody found a solution to this?

  • bluetooth works with the bluetooth pc dongle (USB) when you click on "interface properties" upon which it sets up the missing phone-pc network connection on a virtual com port which is not visible in device manager, even if you enable "view missing /hidden devices" you should still up the connection speed on the virtual port to the maximum you see.

  • Yeah i think this is a really good phone but i kinda sorta went swimming with it for 30 seconds. the keypad lights up but the screen is blank.now i am realising everything good about it now i have a bad one i want a phone with the same sorta features but cheap good camera lots of space 3g and stuff. also if u want a good video this isnt a very good phone!!!! its pretty bad

  • using a (widcomm) bluetooth dongle! (German language version) and handset manager/USB i only get problems (winXP sp2 patched) Handset manager never connects to the phone although the PC and phone recognise one another easily and can be "paired" you can send however photos and other items from the Phone to PC by simple phone commands - the dongle recognises a "PIM" connection and the fiels go to the "bluetooth exchange folder". The PC with the dongle and bluetooth neighbourhood shows that "serial" interfaces are present - com6 - active-sync, com7 - serial services - BUT handset manager never connects no matter which com port you choose You can set up "hands-free" and presumably use the PC speaker and microphone for the phone (over the bluetooth widcomm software)

  • Hi! I need some help looking for the CD software so that i can connect my phone to my computer with my usb cord. I lost the CD that came with my phone. Pls email me if you can find the software on the internet.. Thanks!

  • my service provider'out here{global com} in nigeria finds it hard configuring my tm150.its seams not suitable with the network.whats the reason behind these?

  • Can't autosave what to memory card? I have at least photos automatically set to go to memory card...

  • Well phone cons: 1. cant play mp3 to incoming calls, 2. cant get larger files than 5 mb via bluetooth with or without memory card, 3. cant load games via usb or bluetooth, only pay wap, 4. cant autosave to memory card. 5. cant play large video files. 6. bad menu navigation etc. conclusion just garbage phone.

  • If you are prepay customer of Vodafone (in Ireland) you can ask the operator for NCK code but in first you have to spent 120 euro (minimum) on your credit... Unfortunately I don't know how to calculate NCK from the IMEI...

  • U can use Mpeg4 format too instead of 3gp. It's better quality and needs less space. Does anyone have this phone with micro sd 2Gb?I'd like to know if it's working:d

  • ok thank you very much.but i heard about you can get a nck code from vodafone,is there some number you have to get?if you know ,or some one know, please tell me if you can, thank you if you do

  • If the phone is SIM-locked, you CAN'T use other SIM-card. Only Vodafone. So check the phone before you buy it.

  • My previous information was not completely accurate, you can also save files (mp3, pictures, ...)directly into memory card via bluetooth - use Handset Manager (supplied on the CD with phone).

  • You can't save files directly to memory card via Bluetooth, use computer with card-reader instead.

I received the unlock code (NCK) for my phone and now I can use also other SIMs, not only from Vodafone. But now I can't play downloaded games in my Games folder in phone's internal memory. Why Vodafone? I paid for them.

  • does the secret datas work with pictures and videos?

  • Hey, how does the secret data option work on the phone? there is nothing in the manual about it

  • You can only watch 3gp videos to the best of my knowledge. Xilisoft converts almost anything you need but for best quality try Plato + it's free.

  • I love this phone..when it's working. What a dud. This is the second one. The first wouldn't charge/work after just 3 weeks. It turned itself off and that was that. Was told it was defective so given new one. 2nd one developed same problem after 5 months. Also lots of problem with key pad freezing after being locked on both. It has been treated gently so no excuses. Any solutions?

  • This phone is so good I named my son 550.

  • hey guys im thinking of getting this phone next week....does it have speakerphone? does the 3g works fine? good graphic? thanks -dee

  • the mobiles look i good and is easy to handle but it needs more capabilities for java tools and oter accesories clarity is not to the expected level but zooming is not so bad

  • wat abt it?critical?

  • where can I download new themes for the phone? by the way gx40 themes work fine on this phone where can I find some?

  • hi got this phone in july 05 loved it got great use out of it. then one day during mid call it switched itself off. brought it back to the store who told me the phone had moisture damage. phone hant been immersed? was not able to get it fixed this was after 3 months. felt cheated. buyers beware!!

  • i think its a great phone but does anybody know where i could find a usb cable for it??

  • Great mobile phone, it's a little bit big, but i like it. Pitty it doesn't have a FM Radio

  • Hae there anyone have any idea how to download movie files to the phone via usb cable? Im geeting it on to the phone but for some reason its not playing. Is this due to the movie files? eg mpeg avi? cheers

  • Oh yeh one more thing, if your keypad freezes up when you lock it(which mine does often, unfortunately) just click the volume controls a few times, then the shortcut button (under the power/hang up button), then the button under the green call button and work your way pressing random buttons after that for like 1 min. then try unlocking it! , works for me anyway!

  • For anyone who is going on and on about bloody USB cable prices and bluetooth USB connectors not working: GET A USB CABLE OFF EBAY!!!!!! It's the answer to your problems! There around 1.50 (extremely cheap) and shipping is about 2 and there's thousands of them from Japan! Oh yeh, one more thing, There's a secret way to get a third free theme: move the two others (Beat & Igonised) to your memory card (if you have one) and a third secret blue and red one comes up! I think it's better then the other two!! (to move go to advanced>>Move and then choose memory card!) WRARNING: if you want to use the other ones again you have to move them back to your handset memory! PS if anyone else has any queeries about this phone, I know loads about it!

  • Hae is there anyway to transfer incoming bluetooth files straight to the sd memory card instead of the handset memory? just makes life a whole lot easier really!! Cheers

  • Thanx nyCv I'll try this ;-)

  • \/ this should sort your problem miro! Oh and i 4got, u can rename ur playlists also.

  • you dont have to have all mp3's in one folder. when you are in sounds and ringtones just go options>add folder. you can even create subfolders e.g sounds and ringtones>mp3 folder >rap music. it even has a multiple select option so you can move loads of songs from all different files into one specific folder. it is found under options>advanced> multiple select. once you have picked them just select MOVE. simple! the same applies for deleting many files at once.

  • Nice phone, fantastic display, really high quality mp3 playing. I use 1GB MicroSD memory card and it works without problems. Bluetooth works, but transfers are slow, 30KB/s in average. I had problem to use bundled software, it was impossible to connect phone with computer by Bluetooth. I found solution, I changed COM port number in SyncManager -> Settings -> Interface -> Port. Disadvantages: very poor quality photos (I tried everything to set, but no change - is it my problem only????); poor quality video recording; all mp3s are shown in one folder (I hate this!!!!!) and playlist managing is very non-comfortable; connection to secured web page causes handset immediately to restart (so I can't open https://... pages); no standby display (Sharp, why......). I hope there will be firmware upgrade to solve problems but maybe not.... I use card reader co copy files between phone and computer because Bluetooth is really slow. And again, display is excelent, the best I have ever seen.

  • It's in general a very nice phone.. Inserted a 512 mem card and have it for music and reading too. All that is fine except for soemthing i didnt know of and if i knew i would have chosen another. You can;t upload jar/jad through bluetooth/cable because its locked. Only through wap. Personally i'm not fancy of making my provider richer. I hope a way around is out soon.

  • i've had some experience getting this phone to do stuff. if you need help feel free to email me. though im still having difficulty send mp4s to the handset via handset manager via bluetooth.

  • after ages of trying i got it to connect via bluetooth to my pc. have to run the DUN connection. not ideal but better than nothing. i downloaded some mp4 short videos but it wont transfer them to the phone. it runs the transfer process but then says 'transfer failed' after a couple of minutes. it works fine with music though

  • very good camera class phone

  • I bought the fone and its great! transferring photos is simple, just save them to the memory card ,and if you dont or can't find a micro sd reader it supplies you with a normal sd adapter. with xp just then connect it. it will say external drive found. with all your files you can do what you like! simple!

  • if your pc has no memory card slot then you can get a memory card adaptor for it for about 20 euro and it's probably the cheapest and easiest way to transfer photos and music back and forth between your phone and your pc.

  • anyknow how i can get stuff on to my pc from my phone without a usb cabel

  • I bought this phone about a month ago, however there is no USB cable with it and I didn't fancy spending another 50 for one so I decided on a bluetooth USB adapter. I paired my pc with my phone and transferred some data to my pc, but I would like to know how to transfer music from my pc to my phone. Can anyone help? Also a 1GB memory card works perfectly with this phone.

  • Hi everyone I need some clear instructions on downloading games and PC connectivity via bluetooth. Please e-mail me if you know anything cheers

  • Where can smone find themes for 550sh please??? smone plzz help!! thank u!!

  • I need to know if the transference of photos to a computer it's easy or not!!HELPPPP!!

  • i rang up sharp about it and they said that they only guaranteed up to a 512mb card to work and no higher. so basically no, but i haven't tried a 1gb so maybe there's hope.

  • can someone pleas put this question to rest for me,! does a 1gb memory card work on this phone??

  • Love my phone, but last week it refused to respond to the keypad, I took out the battery to reset but then it refused to wake up at all. Dropped it into my local Vodafone shop for repair on Friday,it was back on Wednesday which is impressive, but they had found no fault and only done a firmwear update. Some of my saved data was gone but nothing major. I hope it stays fixed. Works fine with a data cable, MP3's are great, the little camera impresses me every time (and I have two digi SLR's.) Oh, just discovered it seems to charge via USB.

  • What country are you in? Surely there's some sort of laws saying you can return the product if it's not doing what you wanted it to do etc? Must be able to at least EXCHANGE for something else, if you can't get a full refund. Check it out.

  • I just bought this phone yesterday, and I am extremely disappointed. I previously had the Motorola E770v which has all of the same features, but it got water damage and didn't work properly, so I decided to get a new phone. Since the Sharp had all the same features and was 30 bucks cheaper, I decided to take a chance. However, when I got home I realized that there was no USB cable included and the one I had for my Motorola did not work. Went back to Vodafone, and they said that it wasn't out yet and for me to buy a bluetooth USB adapter. I did which now cost me another 40 bucks, and get home again, and it won't download more than one music file on my computer. It said memory is full (which it isn't) and I tried like 10 times. I asked Vodafone if I could return it, but they said no. So, now I am stuck with a phone I don't want just cause I tried to save money but ended up spending more. I should have gotten my motorola back.

  • Hey Guys, thanks for the help. Eoin.

  • where can u get themes for this phone and also how can you save bluetooth transfers to the memory card instead of the headset memory

  • My turn to ask a question :) On the Vodafone NZ website, it lists "Colour Backlights" as a Feature, saying "Set your screen backlighting to different colours for when friends, family or work call". I can't find how to change any backlight colours. Anyone know how to do it? Or is Vodafone mistaken? They said this about the GX15 too (my previous phone) but I could never work that out either!

  • Battery life: I have to recharge about every 3 days. I thought this was pretty poor after my very first cellphone could last a week - but I now figure, hey, what's so hard about charging it :) I guess I muck around with it a lot more too though. Secret Data: You can set tasks, contacts etc as "Secret" - I think so someone else looking at your phone can't see them. "Show Secret Data" effectively unlocks it all, so you can see them again (not sure how many things you can hide though).

  • in the locks settings it has show secret data....what does this mean?

  • I'm very interested in this model, Vodofone Ireland have it at a great price. There are a couple of questions I can't get answers to though, so I'm hoping someone here who's used one can help me out. Firstly, how is the battery life? The figures Vodafone give actually sound too bad to be true - for a change. Second, has anyone used it as a data modem with a USB cable? Particularly, can it be charged/powered over the USB cable? It wouldn't be much use for mobile internet access if the battery gave out quickly. Thanks.

  • Themes take up a lot of space, mind that.

  • if you clear most of your phone memory ( pics, music etc) onto the memory card then the phone memory will have the free space to accept whatever files you're sending.

  • it would probably be cheapest and easiest to just buy a memory card reader for your pc if it doesn't have a memory card slot.

  • when i use headset manager it say make sure your headset bluetooth is on and the stand-by screen is displayed what is the stand-by screen? please help

  • To Eoin - no you can't turn the tone off when taking a photo. It is a safety feature, prevents (or TRIES to) unauthorised pictures being taken of people etc. The best you can do is change the shutter sound.

  • I got this phone yesterday and I cant find any fault with it at all, if you think about it, this little 99 phone has just about all the features of the 229 Motorola V3x!!Anyone who buys this phone wwll fall in love with it!!!!PS screen quality is next generation stuff, truly amazing! To Spider: If you try to send files about 3-4 times it usually works for me! Maybe it finally notices that it has a memory card lol!!!

  • "I don't want the phone to play a tone when I take a photo or start taking a video. I've looked everywhere on the phone but cannot find how to turn it off.... can anyone help?" Sorry, I think it cannot be turned off :(

  • just got the sharp 550sh, pretty cool. trying to source a usb cable for it. vodaphone have none and internet searchs are only coming up with ebay sites. is there anywhere in dublin where i can just walk in off the streets and buy it?

  • I think its a great phone, yet im intrigued by the menu option "books" Can the phone be used as a reader for ebooks? and if so, how do u set it up?

  • Question: I don't want the phone to play a tone when I take a photo or start taking a video. I've looked everywhere on the phone but cannot find how to turn it off.... can anyone help? Thanks.

  • Can someone help me please?I know its going to be obvious to all you up to speed people, but I am a complete novice to this memory card thing.I try to send files to my phone, and it says I have insufficient memory.I check memory on handset, and its low,but the memory card is empty...How do I get it to accept files??Should it not do it automatically when my handset memory is full??Please help a very confused man..Thanks

  • To switch off screensaver: Games & Apps -> Settings -> Screensavers -> Switch On/Off

  • Howdy, bought the phone the other day as it seemed to be a steal at only E99 and had 3g, mp3 etc. However, mp3s will not send to the phone no matter how hard I try. Gonna bring it in for a quick once over in Vodafone and also pick up a 1gb sd card hopefully too.

  • hey, wudnt mind sum hlp pls, i recently set a screensaver (sims2) and it is eating all the battery because it keeps cumin on and its java.Does any1 know how to switch off the screensaver, i tried a reset but it didnt wrk.And is there any good free 3gp coverters? thanx very much

  • if you want info about watching videos on the phone or converting avi, divx, mpeg etc into 3gp, scroll down and everything you need to know is there. the screen is small but it plays videos sideways so you get the most out of it :D

  • Sorry it's 174x144 video size.

  • Handset code for the "Secret" stuff: 9999 (it's in the manual)

  • first you can watch .3gp movies 176x144 screen size no matter how long they are which means you CAN watch full lenght movies second you can use .mp3 files as ringtones only when they're in haandset memory, you can also use short movies for your contact list third for any furhter questions you can email me :) cheers mates

  • Anyone hwo knows if its possible to have mp3s as ringtones. If so how? Thanks

  • Smurf. I saw you talking about avi and concerting etc. I am about to by the phone just want to know if i will be able to watch movies in it. Cours, the screen is to smal to really enjoy them, but just for the hell of it.

  • Is there any way of downloading some kind of program to be able to use it with a mp3player?

  • Hi. Can anyone tell me what kind of video files you can look at, like avi, mpeg? etc Thanks

  • hi can anyone tell me what Handset code wants me when i try to lock folder or enyone pls tel me thanks

  • anyone got any hints about saving stuff i send from my pc to my phone.it fails to send,i think it is because of the memory being too small on the phone, how do i get it to save direct to my memory card.i use an adaptor it seems to pick up my pc fine and vica versa.

  • Yeah the usb data cables not really an option as I bought a bluetooth dongle in order to use with my new 'Bluetooth capable phone'. Its not the phone as such, it can find my PC and vice versa and it can find other phones and send and receive files. The problem is the piece of s**t software thats bundled with it. It doesnt find my phone even though the software that came with my bluetooth dongle can recognise my phone and receive files from it. Only problem is it can only send business cards to the phone. Thats why I need to get handset manager working in order to transfer files to my phone (mp3's etc.) Any help from anybody who has managed to transfer files via bluetooth using the handset manager application (if you can call it an application) would be very much appreciated.

  • yeh my bluetooth works fine with other phones and it seems to find computers at work. i dont have bluetooth on my home pc so im not sure. Just get a usb data cable and you'll be sweet to go. Also i have put in a 1gig microSD card in this phone and it works. (Memory status - 967.8MB Free) I havent been home to copy a gigs worth of stuff on it yet to fully test it but it looks very promising. If you're in nz or aus you can buy a 1gig card for this phone for $88 including gst or a 512mb for $44. www.flashcards.co.nz

  • I bought this phone as it had everything I was looking for (Video camera, 3G, MP3 Player etc.) especially Bluetooth! Well I've been able to send and receive files from other phones but cant seem to get it to work with my PC as such. I can send files to my PC and can see it through my bluetooth software. The problem is the Handset Manager software that comes with the phone. I cant seem to get it to connect with my phone at all! It just says Searching for device but never seems to find it. There is no help in the documentation at all. Its like a black hole that you must explore on your own! So if anyone has explored this black hole and seen the light could they let us all know how it works. Thanks! As regards to the performance of the phone. Its good for the price of the phone. It covers all the bases but doesnt excel at any of them. The layout of menus is nice and fairly intuitive (Ive mostly always had Nokias and was anxious about this). Have had it freeze on me once or twice for no apparent reason and I cant even switch it off so just gotta pull out the battery! Theres a few niggles with this phone as posted previously but in general its a solid phone thats more than value for money! Any answers to my questions please post them!

  • Im pretty sure you can only have games on the handset memory

  • does anyone know how to install java games on the micro SD?

  • Also I found if you reply to a MMS but only reply with text it automatically sends as a MMS and you cant change it back to SMS. Best way is to create a brand new message - a tad stupid really. The text size doesnt bother me and I probably have worse vision than the lot of you with probably about 5% vision in my left eye and 70% in my right but yes bigger text would still be a good option. **As far as mpeg avi divx etc etc go. You want a program called Aplus Video to 3GP V3. a very quick way to convert most video formats to the standard 3gp. There are different resolutions and settings you can choose from in the profile makeup of your converted 3gp files. -cell phone 3gp files(3gp + aac) -all 320 x 240 options will NOT work -176 x 144 work and look good Ive only ripped happy tree friends but as far as i can see the normal quality and high quality are exactly the same except that the high quality version the audio seems to be very very slighty out of time. best option = 176 x 144 normal quality stereo in either Xvid or MPEG4 profile. file size reduction worked out to be original divx file - 7000kb 3gp ripped file - 2500kb A trademe retailer is letting me test a 1gig microSD card in the phone to see if i have any luck so i will update you all wanting to know. Cheers!

  • I took the plunge & bought it last week. Couldn't wait any longer though since my current phone was dying, so had to out of necessity also. It's decent enough - does all I need it to and more, but wouldn't say I'm blown away by it. REALLY found it hard to find out much about it before I got it. No reviews anywhere... more questions here than answers until VERY recently. Wish there were more reviews/comments earlier for informed choice - but oh well, it's done now! :) 1) Text size: You can change it in the Phone Settings under display - though only changes to bold etc. I find Normal okay for me though. STUPID how it changes to MMS if you increase text size in message. Glad you mentioned it, didn't notice that! 2) Screen colour/resolution good. "Wowed" me looking @ pics from old phone on this. Didn't realise how good some of them looked! :D 3) Video recording - better quality on my old GX15, and bro's GX17! Too blocky on this. 4) Video STREAMING has impressed, nice and clear (though I've never used 3G before to compare). 5) Bluetooth's been fine for me - only been transferring pictures and ringtones between old and new phone, and to other people. 6) Annoying plastic covers for headphone and charge ports(?). They're going to snap off eventually! 7) No full version of games come with this phone, only demos - unlike previous models. 8) Keypad better than I thought. Not struggling to text after all. 9) I like the SPLIT photo feature in Photo Editor (can make a wallpaper with 4 photos). 10) Alarms: Great, this has snooze. Used to just set mulitple alarms to be safe :D I give it... um about 7/10. Time to stop rambling. :D

  • This phone is new in NZ, and I recently got suckered into buying it by the salesperson in the Vodafone owned shop. It is aesthetically pleasing, professional looking and feels nice. It is also well featured for the price of $499. However, there are some major faults that no-one here wants to recognize, admit, know about, let alone get fixed. 1) The text font size default cannot be changed. For SMS creation the standard font size is so small as to be virtually unreadable to people over 40! You can change it for the current message, and this forces the message to be MMS, not SMS. However the change affects the current message only. 2) Using the phone as a Bluetooth Modem is not successful, and Vodafone here in NZ refuse to support any connection to the internet through them that is not their own datacard. 3) The screen display does not have a "dimmed down" screen saver, it only switches off. Therefore if there is a missed call, and you don't see it on the screen before it switches off - tough. The only way to see the missed call is to press a button to re-activate the screen. This is a MAJOR drawback. 4) Bluetooth transfers seem to be limited to handset only, and the Sync Manager is quite slow. For these reasons I am returning the phone today for a full refund. Sharp and Vodafone need a swift kick in the rear for releasing this phone onto innocent customers without advising these drawbacks, let alone refusing to acknowledge or do anything about them. Maybe the Nokia 6680 or Motorola V3X might be better bets.

  • FOr questions asked previously. 1. yes you can use mp3s as ringtones/message tones aslong as they are stored on the internal memory - which is fine as ringtones should only be 20seconds max, so just edit the mp3s to reasonable size before transferring them to your phone. 2. polyphonic ringtones/midi files (.mid) are compatible and easy as to find on the net. They can go straight onto your phone so you dont have to pay stupid prices through your provider. 3. this phone doesnt seem to be compatible with mpeg/divx movies which kinda sucks, BUT you can download 3gp converters to convert movie formats to the cellphone standard. Im not sure if you have to alter the resolution yet but will find out tonight. 4. the keypad. the keys are close together yes but because of their shape they arent as bad to use as they look. my fat fingers has accidently pressed the wrong ones on occasion but just gettin used to it. They also do feel cheap and junky. MY QUESTION - Is this phone capable of using 1gig micro SD or is it 512mb as the spec says

  • had the phone now for 2 weeks and it just keeps on freezing on me all the time, especially when i receive a phonecall sometimes the phone just freezes and i cant answer it, is anyone else having the same problem with this phone??

  • in regards to rerecieving files via bluetooth they can only be saved to your handset memory , so save all your data to your memory card, then when you recieve a file via bluetooth you can just move them to your memory card and keep ypur handset memory free...

  • I've been using it for 3 weeks now, good phone, but do anyone know how to remove the operator logo..... thanks

  • For queries regarding USB cables, headphones etc go to and select your region/country. Recorded video and streaming from Vodafone Live! in Ireland is not great. Very blocky. I bought the phone through a Vodafone shop, they stated that this is a known issue and Sharp and Vodafone are investigating. No idea if a firmware will be required or when it might be fixed.

  • will it take a 1gb memory card? it says 512mb on the sharp site.

  • You can find decent reviews done by prefessionals at I think this the best place.

  • if you are recieving a file trough bluetooth. is it possible to save directly on to the memory card because the phone memory is to small?

  • Anyone know where to find decent reviews for this phone? I've looked all over the net for weeks, maybe a month - and can't find one! It's brand new in NZ, but thought there'd be something on sites in other countries. The comments here are the best I've found so far. Keep coming across sites that call the list of phone features/specs a "review" too... that's not a REVIEW! Driving me nuts :D

  • Is this phone good? how is the tele on it? wud it be better than the k700i?

  • I have the phone now but I don't know which usb cable to buy for the phone. I've tried looking for it on many websites but it never specifies which one. SO if someone knows could they please tell me....

  • ok great phone great everything but i wasnt supplied with a stereo head set when i bought this phone cos i was suppluied it by a catalogue can anybody tell me what headset to buy cos ive searched and searched and cant find one for the 550sh is there one that is compatible or something else i can use so i dont have to keep carrying my mp3 around as well as my as this was the reason i bought it in the first place

  • can people please answer the following questions i have: can you use mp3's as your ringtone on this phone?, what type of usb cable do you need to connect this phone to your p.c?, i would appreciate if someone reading this could post a comment with the answers to these questions! thank you!!!

  • this phone is quite fanstastic with the design,so,i hope of getting on from you.

  • Can anyone comment about the keypad? Is it easy to compose text messages for example? I like the look of this phone so far, but worry about the buttons - how they're all right next to each other, rather than being alone in their own space (like the GX15 for example, my current phone).

  • cut it out! does matter that? wether the mobile phone is exclusive or not? oh my god... talk about the phone itself and don't waste time at those things. u look silly.

  • I only need one more thing to buy this mobile... Has this mobile plugin for Macromedia Flash Lite? If not, Can I download and install it? thanx. pd: I am flash developer :)

  • i have a problem, i send via bluetooth mp3 songs from my pc to the mobile but the phone can't play them. can anyone help me, how can i store mp3 to my phone???

  • A very good mobile phone but it has 2 disadvantages .1) it can receive java files (applications and games) using the Bluetooth and 2) the sound files (midi, mmf, mp3) cant be used as ring tones if they are stored in the Micro SD card

  • very disappointed that this wonderful phone does'nt have any in-built radio...will come out sooner?

  • The look of mobile is great.Design is beautiful.

  • @ Someone who knows, thankyou, that's what I meant. The phone itself cannot be resold to another provider, or sold "unbranded". Vodafone has it's seal on it. Skater42

  • Well it's not quite like that. The handsets are designed with Vodafone in mind and with input from them as to what they want to fill in certain areas of their portfolio. So effectively Sharp develop specifically for Voda.

  • Yea, I reckon, SHARP make this phone... then they go to Vodafone and say "Do you want to buy the line of 550SH with your logo on it or not?" If they say yes then it all goes through and if the say no then they will sell it without their branding like other SHARP phones. Vodafone dont have time to sit down and design phones.. Come on

  • Skater42, You are wrong. Vodafone does not design the Sharp handsets. They are designed, developed and manufactured by Sharp but sold exclusively to Vodafone.

  • i think it's a 3g model but i can't see it on cell's information

  • @ PAUL dood your a funny man :P You have no idea what you are talking about, over-exagerating facts and have probably never been able to use Vodafone in the first place. Verizon Wireless is owned by 45% through Vodafone. The other 55% belong to Verizon Communications. Pot calling the cattle black ============================ How many US companies draw their revenues from other countries? Thank you. T-Mobile is owned by Deutsche Telekom, you are correct. Vodafone & Sharp ================ Vodafone is by far the largest Mobile Operator, sheer volume making China mobile #1. Vodafone is operating in 41 countries and it's fair pricing, great handsets and a good amount of services make it easily the most competetive. Branding is no Scamming, you wouldn't call BMW a scammer only because they have their branding all over their own cars? Subsidies make handsets so cheap, and you only have to be willing to carry the sponsors name. Like Formula One cars, very colorful...indeed. Most SHARP handsets are owned by Vodafone, making Vodafone the "designer" and SHARP the manufacturer. Do I seem to repeat myself? Nokia, SE & Co. just try to get more revenue by subsidising their handsets. Not everyone can afford a $999 handset. I haven't had much trouble with Vodafone Customer Service and find that you have the best roaming agreements through Vodafone. Skater42

  • Oh and everyones thinks , VERIZON WIRELESS, is such a scam because it is part of local Verizon company. Ehhhhh..... NO, IT ISN'T (only by 20% yes). By 80% it is part of Vodafones, and I don't believe that the world's giant such as Vodafone can't control $$$$$scam of Verizon. DEUTCHE TELEKOM can 100% control thei american subsidary T-Mobile USA, and Vodafone can't control Verizon? HELL NO. VODAFONE IS SIMLY THE PARENT SCAM OR VERIZON SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know very well about Vodafone, but I do know very well about Verizon Wireless which is 80% controled by Vodafone, and along with Cingular wireless is rated to be the most SCAMEST company in the U.S.!!!!! (Bunch of $$$$ J...ISH SCAM CON. SPECIALISTS in Verizon and in Cingular) VERIZON WIRELESS likes doing the same things like Vodafone does: -Locking their phones and features with hudreeds of locks and passwords! ($$$$$tones of rip off) -Branding themselves like they are the kings of the earth -Providing the most horrible costumer service

  • @ Toshi, thanks for that! I don't exactly understand what you mean by incentive though. Vodafone stores sell nothing but Vodafone, why should they receive incentives? Incentives are mostly used to promote one product over another, not really applicable in a Vodafone store. I go into an independent, multi-network (offers several providers) store and I can see this: A K750SE without VF-branding costs AU$ 789. A K750SE Vodafone costs only AU$499. The K750SE Vodafone has branding and branded Software, as where the other doesn't. It is simlocked and many functions are restricted to Vodafone Live. The regular K750SE has no locks and no real restrictions. Call charges for Optus & Vodafone Customers are the same. - Simlocking is the most effective way returning profits. If customers can only purchase from one network...go figure. - Vodafone branding is effective Marketing. - And well, Vodafone and SE of course have their little contract as Vodafone doesn't want to miss out on the success of the K750i. Subsidies and what not... But as for the 550SH, this is a little different. As you know, the K750i is owned by SONY ERICSSON and merely "adopted" by Vodafone. Well, the 550SH is produced by SHARP, but in reality is a concept of Vodafone and hence is only available on Vodafone. There is no other firmware, Vodafone's is the original. And this is where I started my point. Why complain about "Vodafone branding" when there is no other? We don't complain about Nokia's firmware...do we. Vodafone isn't just the branding, it is the OWNER of the V550SH, merely outsourced by Sharp. It's a bit like custom pants. You go and get a pair of pants made and you own them, not the store that produced them. The store will never ask you to return them if you don't wear them properly, or make them dirty, they are still yours. cheers, Skater42

  • To Skater42, Keita should never tell die to anyone. But he just wants to get a great phone, which we, who posts messeges here, share in common. By the way, there is reason why Vodafone is cheaper in retailer price because they pay some of inventive to retailers stores. Extreme example is Japan. Same phone you buy in Japan and In U.S. is at least $200 different because Japanese mobile telecommunication company pays so much incentives to retailer stores. But at the same time, they chage existing customers higher for calling. See this is how it works.

  • @Keita grow up, you shouldn't be allowed to post such stuff on here. Vodafone owns most V-SH Sharp models, this means that Vodafone is the owner, and SHARP is merely the manufacturer of the phone. There are no other "versions" of it. So if Vodafone is the owner, then it can also brand its phones like any other company would do. Just keep in mind that Vodafone-branded models are 30% cheaper than original Sony Ericsson, Nokia etc. models. If you want to spend the extra money go and buy the original. But others just don't care as much... Skater42

  • waaah i rily wish sharp would release their great phones hir in the phils and that is not branded or rather messed up by vodafone!!! i rily rily rily hate vodafone for making so much restrictions with their mobile phones! the brandind itself is already absurd!!! most phones that reach the phils are second hands only a few are brand new and most of them came from japan!! i rily wish all voda staffs, personnel and ever1 involved in that company dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehehe rily luv sharp phones!

  • this phone ownz !

  • for the 3G networks

  • Is 550SH UMTS conpatible,isnt it?

  • I thought this phone was a 3G??? also how come this also has CDMA??
