Oh my gosh. I had this phone in 2008 and I played a sims type game that I couldn't get out of my mind even now. I only played it for a day because the phone stopped working and won't turn on anymore. I'm glad I'm not the only one looking for it!

why the heck did you discontinue the Z525 sony erricson? It's a very good phone- are you all crazy? I had mine for 4 to 5 years before it was broken and now can not find a replacement. It had internet capabilities, phone, and area to put notes and information I needed. Upper management better earn more business administrative skills then what is currently showing in the results of equipment and marketinig. so wrong

I have to say this is a decent phone. I have this phone a few years back and never failed. It really depends on how people use their phone because when I bought a new one and gave it to my sister it easily broke down after few months. Anyway I miss that little screen outside of the clamp shell. I use to put a picture of me and my girlfriend on it. :-D

2 yrs ago I bought my new 2nd cellphone then it broke in less than a year. Then I went back to my old cell which this Sony Ericsson Z525(i had this since it came to the market). It's very old but still work like new. Few months ago I bought a Blackberry (So I put away my old Sony Ericsson). 2 weeks ago my blackberry just broke on me, I didnt even drop it or something. Now Im back to my old cell-Sonny Ericsson. LONG LIVE THE SONY ERICSSON Z525!!!!

This phone was just want I needed for 4 years (just like others) and is now turning off. I missed calls and had no way of knowing it. One thing -- I was always careful and had never dropped the phone until about a week ago, on concrete. No marks though and it seemed to work fine. Now this. In checking on the web, other Ericsson models appear to have the same problem and some have been recalled. Iphone here I come.

I got this phone 3 years ago and loved it till the screen went white. The screen would flip nonstop and then it just went black and wouldnt work. So i sent it back and they sent me another one. Within 3 months it did the exact same thing. I got a new phone which I liked but i lost the battery, so my friend gave me his spare phone which happened to be the same Z525 model. I am now dealing with a white/flipping screen once again. I hate this phone with a burning passion and would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

My screen is blank also and I cannot seem to get the 'fix' to work for me. I am doing center, toggle down(1 time), center, toggle up (2 times), center, toggle down (5 times), center, toggle down (5 times), center (3 times). Am I missing something? I've tried this sequence about a dozen times.

i tried to copy my phone book to my sim (i also have the WSOD ) but i may have locked my phone. everytime i push the 'enter' button, it gives out a 'do-do, dit-do' tone. help!

I loved this phone. It was easy to navigate and soft on the hands. My family got 4 because they were all free with our plan. An all 4 phones, the flip function was faulty as they all went blank! They all just got white eventually and we had to navigate with our memory until we got a new one! Overall we had it for about 2yrs until they gradually started dying one by one. It's not good for texting.

Hey, that happened to me. i don't know why, but I just sucked on the speaker, like to pop it back and then blow on it and then it was fine... like... just put your face to it and try... My phone turns off suddenlt when I squeeze it or close it to fast. i think something is loose. help?

I've had my phone* for a little over 2 years and it worked just fine but just the other day I got a white screen and now I can't see what numbers I'm dialing, any missed calls or text messages. This really limits my use of the phone and forces me to look into getting a new phone.

My screen on this phone went out. It went out slowly, though. As if in sessions. It began with a delay, then it blinked at times, then I had to close & reopen it, then I had to turn it off, then I had to remove the battery, THEN it finally just went blank completely. I could still recieve calls and texts and call people, but the screen was just white so I couldnt SEE the numbers I typed, see whose call I missed, or see the messages I recieved. I gave up on it and replaced it with a Rokr.

I HATE this phone. My Sony is 2 years old and from day one I have had nothing but problems. This phone shuts itself off even when it has a full charge randomly. Speaking of the charge. Sometimes a full charge will last several day and sometimes it last only a few hours. One day I had a full charge when I left home a few hours later I wanted to get a number off of it. Once I accessed my address book my phone when dead from lack of charge. I am finally getting new phones for my husband and myself and getting rid of this piece of s--t.

I just got the WSOD. I think I'm just gonna replace the phone with an iphone, but I'd like to replace the flex cable to get as much stuff off my phone as possible before I dump it. Do you know of any websites where you can see how to replace the flex cable. I found one at but this page is all just picutres (which is great) but when I look up the flex cables on ebay, it looks way different... or maybe I just don't get it cause I havne't taken my phone apart yet... ? Also, if anyone wants the "how to" to get your contacts on Sim, I found it at this forum. If you scroll down it's there. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to soon. I figured I'll load all my contacts on Sim before I try to open my phone and replace the cable.

After extensive research, I decided on a SE Z525 16 months ago. Right about the one year mark, the screen just suddently went white. I had a week left on my warranty so AT&T replaced it. 4 months later it happened again. AT&T only warranted the refurbished phone for 30 days. I called Sony and they said I could send it in and they would attempt to fix it, but it would take three weeks. Since this is the only phone I have, this leaves me with no phone. They will not send a loaner phone. This is not a unique problem with this phone and I as the consumer am stuck with a broken phone and a contact I cannot get out of. I will not buy a SE phone again and will tell all my friends not to bother buying one either.

Three members of our calling plan all had the z525a model. Of those three, two have stopped working all together, and the last one (mine fortunately) has some random errors. Periodically, the phone will be unable to access the SIM

I am on my third z525 in 14 months and I just got the WSOD on it yesterday. The first phone I received worked for two weeks and then completely quit on me. The second phone worked for 10 months before I got the white screen on it. Luckily they extended my warranty by 90 days with this new phone so I should be able to get another, yes another, replacement. I really love this phone. I just wish it would work!

I have not experienced the WSOD, but the inside display has a "hole with cracks" on it. It literally is a black circle (about 1/2" in diameter) with zig-zag lines extending out. It looks like someone through a rock through a window. Any thoughts?

this phone does suck. My screen went white as well. There's nothing you can do about it. If you have this phone make sure all your numbers and everything are on your sim card or you're screwed like me.

I have had this phone for the 2nd time and it sucks. The pictures are not worth taking. I had to get it replaced because of the first time the screen went white. Yet when I called I was given no reason they just told me to replace it. Which cost me alot. And now its the same thing a year later. If they know it's gonna do this due to how many times you have to open it why bother selling it or better yet fix the problem. I don't recomend anyone getting this model z525. It's a waste of money.

you will of course notice the bulge that is the hinge. taking the phone apart reveals unsecured wires subject to being torn if caught in the right manner against the encased actual hinge. say you open your phone an avg. of 50+ times a day,checking time and missed calls. i think you can imagine how much the chance to cut those wires increases with each time you open your phone. outer screen subject to "go" if dropped. your antenna is the handle shaped thing you can see while the phone is closed. also easily destroyed if dropped. it is unsecured inside and its connection is to a couple of springs that are of a connical shape and potrude from the flat surface of the circuit board. because the antenna is unsecured there is a tenuous connection to these springs. misaligned, you loose service. best advice? take a large hammer and make as many little pieces of the phone as you can. you'll feel better. and you won't have a phone that doesn't work anymore, just good memories. : )

Actually I really like my phone. I have tons of video and pictures stored on it without worrying about space. Unfortunately, without warning, I've received the WSOD. I called cingular who referred me to their technician line who instructed me on different ways to reboot the phone but the problem has now escalated since the screen has gone white and apparently no amount of turning it off/on flipping, etc.., is going to bring it back. I have to wait for 7 weeks before I can get a new phone/upgrade but believe me it will NOT be a Sony Ericsson! This time around I'm going to do more extensive research with consumer opinions to get an idea of what to expect from a phone in the future.

I bought four z520a, was very pleased for the first twelve to eighteen months. My daughter's was the first to go (COULDN'T FIND NETWORK). I dropped mine in the toilet (clean)and I removed every cover battery and sim card and laid it on the dash of my vehicle in the hot sun all day, put it all back together and it worked fine for six months. Then my outer screen would go blank intermittantly. That continued for a month till one day it never returned. Two weeks later the inner screen went white. I bought a used z525 for my daughter online and it lasted three months until it COULDN'T FIND NETWORK.(the second phone with that problem) Finaly my son's inner screen has gone white. My wife hasn't had any trouble with hers, she thinks its because she takes good care of it. Well we'll see! So I've puchased a total of five phones and only one still works correctly. I would expect a phone to last at least two years. Fortunatly I only have five months left on my contract. I don't think I'll buy another Sony Ericsson.

I also have a z520a and i love my phone. I used my phone as pda and have all my data stored on it. yesterday the screen went white...took the phone apart to see if i can fix this problem myself and i am still working on that. But you can also download your data and pictures from your phone to a computer with a usb cable u can get from cingular or from the sony ericsson website

These phones are a piece of crap! I've replaced it twice because of that stupid white screen. Now, whenever i try to do anything, the screen either goes white, or the background scrambles. It definately wasn't worth the money that we all paid for it.

I absolutely LOVED this phone. though, i encountered the WSOD, and ended up haveing two phones, both getting teh wsod. I miss having that phone, it suited my personality perfectly, though i hated teh PTT button on my replacement, and loved the cam button on my original one. I wish i would have known about the flex cable i just read about in a comment on this sight. I recomend this phone to people who love taking pictures and sending them to you email or photobucket and posting them on websights. or who just love the great graphic and such. tho if you dont want the wsod and dont feel like replacing these cables, get a different phone, this one is great but too much, ya know? I plan on getting another one of these after my contract is finished up. i Love sony ericssons

I am on my third phone in just under a year. after my second one broke i called at&t and requested a different model, partial refund, or gift card to purchase a different phone. I was told that they are required to send the same phone until it has broken 3 times, before they are allowed to compensate in a different method. I told them that was ridiculous, so they sent me another z525 but extended my warranty by another 6 months. I've had my 3rd one for 3 weeks now and the screen is going off and on, so i should be getting the WSOD in about a week. I wonder what they'll send me. My plan is able to be renwed in about a week, so i'm NOT getting another sony ericson!

I bought this model 1,5 years ago and design was cute,but very soon I realized that ti I did a mistake. The screen turn white after couple months and later just stop working. I still had a 1 year warranty,so I replace it for new. Well - now again I have the some problem and today when I called the Sony Erickson operator, they just told me that I am not under warranty anymore and need to pay $135 to fix it. Also I don't want to talk even how uncomfortable is the camera button which even in my pocket go on and off all the time. Unfortunately I didn't read the customers review before,but I can tell you for sure-DON'T BYE THIS MODEL.

My wife and I have these phones for about 11 months now. Mine is great and I have never had a problem with it. My wifes on the other hand, she is on her 3rd one. Same problem everytime, that the LCD goes completely white. If any know the fix for this please post it.

If you got the white screen BUT the phone makes and receive calls, the phone is not "dead", the problem is just the flex cable of the internal screen broken. Replace the cable (very cheap) and you are ready to go. The phone is absolutely great, but it has this design problem in the case, that makes the flex cable broke, maybe 2 months, maybe 2 years you can get this "wsod". If the screen is white, and you cant make and receive calls, its a software problem, reload the software with seus.

I got this phone for my wife, daughter and myself. We all loved it (with the exception of the ptt button) until like everyone one else-the white screen. I am on my third one in 9 months with this last one lasting 3 weeks. My daughters screen has gone out once and the microphone quit working. My wifes went out once and her current one will go out from time to time but will come back on if powered down. Wow you would think something would be done. I'm afraid of their products now.

Dear say8, I also have what I thought was only my phone-WSOD bug, but I can tell you that even though you can't save all data to the sim card, you can save contacts to sim card like this: click on menu- Go to address book, click on options-click on advanced-scroll down to 'copy to smartchip'-choose copy all-then click yes-before you do I suggest that you scroll down and highlight each option in the advanced tab then click on info to get instructions on what each one does, I've had my SE Z525A phone for over a year and I'm pretty sure that's all you can save to the sim-hope this helps, Cindy

I have been bit by the WSOD bug. I am luckier than many -- I went about 18 months without a hitch(admittedly with light use and gentle handling) but since I got the white screen of death 4 days ago I can find no way to recover. From what I read on the web it appears to be a ribbon cable issue but does anyone know of a master reset button? Seems like a lot of these devices have a way to do a hard reboot to restore factory settings. I had a problem with my sound about a week ago that was resolved by the restore button in settings menu. I am trying to recreate the same keystroke sequence based on the product manual, but it is hard to tell if I am doing it correctly since my only feedback is the snowy WSOD. ARGGGG

Not only is the phone no good, but AT&T isn't either. They have bad customer service and really don't care if they sell you faulty equipment. 4 out of 4 phones are dead. I can't wait until my contract expires so I can go to another carrier! Of course I chose Cingular and unfortunately got stuck with them once again to find bad service from AT&T

I hate this phone I have 5 lines with this same phone and every phone has been replaced once at least once then there are two that have been replaced three times. The screen goes out on them and then you cannot see who is calling or any of the options and they lock you in to the two year contract and no way to get new phone for 18 months of you having the contract.

I hate this phone. I got 2 sony ericsson z525 (not just 1 but 2!!!!)on April this year. I had the blank screen issue with both phones. After having them replaced under warranty, they were working fine but one of them just went blank AGAIN!!!! So it's the 3rd F-ing time I'm going thru this and I don't know what else to do. I hate AT&T and Sony Ericsson I WANT ANOTHER BRAND AND ANOTHER MODEL. :(

Ive had this phone for two years and im finally getting a new one but i have to say im gonna miss it Its only fault is the blank/white screen!!!! The only way to get it bak to normal is to take out the battery and then put it back in and then turn it on again!!! This gets it back to normal but doesnt stop it doing it again

And I thought my white screen was a weird problem. I was amazed by how many people have had this problem with this phone, even after replacing it. I agree that Sony needs to recall this phone adn the other models that apparently do the same thing. I HATE the PTT button, but have never had an incoming call cut off because of it. I found that if you do accidentally hit it while going to answer it, which obscures the screen so you can't see who's calling, you can hold down the PTT button so you can read the display. Obviously, this only works if you don't have your phone set to answer upon opening. It looks like I'm in for a tough time getting this phone replaced. I had no insurance on it - won't do that again. This phone is the worst phone I have ever had for many reasons: 1. The PTT button is in the way 2. The phone is hard to hang on to 3. The camera/video quality is terrible 4. The screen went blank/white 5. The sim card is hard to get out 6. You have to hold the on/off button for a long time to get it to cut on.

The first Sony Ericsson I had was a z520a, good phone, loved it, had it for two plus years...then the screen went out. Got z525a and I am on my third phone..only had this one four weeks...what screen gone out AGAIN...the screen continues to go out...or no screen..no ring..or no ring-no screen-no dailing...that results in no phone....I telephoned Sony Ericsson and told the rep how dipleased I was with the phone..offered to repair it..and said I could get a loner phone from my service company..well the company knew nothing about that..this time I will be reguesting a new phone from Sony Ericsson or a refund...I really didn't realize this is an ongoing problem...Sony Ericsson does indeed need to do a call back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well it looks like I have become the latest victim of the dreaded White Screen of Death Syndrome!!!. I would say although the PTT button was a pain all and all it was a pretty good phone up until then. u'd think after all the complaint and such that Sony/Ericsson would have fixed this dang thing or came out with a B model or something... Back to my LG1500 till I can get through to the Warranty Center or Customer Service. Hope AT&T don't jack me around cos it's less than a year old!!! I'd say finding all these complaints that this is a phone to steer clear of...

The good thing about this phone is that I can download music from my computer and use it as a ringtones..I mean some of my buddy's phone are more expensive and have better features..but their phone's cant do that...that's the part i like about the phone...now for the bad part....IT SUCKS...cause I'm on my 3rd phone and still having the same problems with the screen going blank..yep I'm on my 3rd replacement phone..I'm afraid to call my service provider cause they're just going to send the same model back to me again..and again the screen is probably going to go blank again...oh well...guest I'll just have to wait until I have money to buy a different phone...this sucks..

I have had 2 of these phones for almost 2 years. One I have had no problems with at all. The other, however, is another story. I am on my 4th replacement in less than 6 months. The screen goes white for no reason at all. I was charged for a new phone because I was told it was water damage. It was not dropped, and it never got wet! This time, I told them NOT to send a Z525, because I don't want to have to exhange it again another 3 or 4 times before I am able to upgrade in 6 months. Take my advise, go with another phone if you have the same issues. They will gladly send you a phone from any other competitor.

When I am forwarding my calls it is adding 1 digit in front of the number. If it is a local area also it is adding 1 so, it is not working properly

WOW! this phone is bull s***! i am on my second one in 8 months and my screen shut off again. all my pics from concerts and everything was a complete waste of effort. everthing i did with it was for nothing. its stupid, both times the phone's screens started freakin out. when i re-open the phone they are black.............forever. I don't like this piece of electronics. I leave far a way from a cell tower, and constantly have a bad reception with this phone, missing calls, etc. I tried other cell phones at my place, and they much better connection. Also, what drives me crazy, is that I can't silent this phone completely. For example, if I select the silent mode, but a batery is almost dead, the phone still beeps. Believe me, it is very annoying during the night time.

The only problem is the location of the PTT button. When opening the phone to answer, it is hard not to hit PTT, and the phone hangs up on the caller. Otherwise, this phone has been bullet proof and flawless. I get signals where others don't, and the battery lasts longer than all others my friends and family have.

The phone I had was the z520a which is pretty much the same thing. This phone should have been recalled. I am wating for my fourth one and will be getting a different phone all together very soon. My first one stopped getting signal, second one the screen blacked out and wouldn't do anything, this third one I turned off and when I turned it back on everything on the screen was in different places and the softkeys didn't work on most menus so I counldn't make any outgoing calls, or really do anything for that matter.... Just Stay away from this phone.

I got a new one less than a month ago and even bought a sturdy case to protect it- it felt not one drop of water and was not dropped once and the screeen STILL broke in less than a month of replacing it. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've been through three of these phones, and in the process of replacing it AGAIN. The first time, it lasted a few months, and I was very happy with it, but then the screen failed one day, only being white, but the backlight still working. The phone was still operable as a phone only, no display. I replaced it after several days of frustration through AT&T and got a the same phone. A week later, same thing happened to the new one. Same thing for the third one, but the backlight failed as well. I've found this to be the "White Screen of Death" on several forums. I may be just unlucky, but this seems to be a persistent problem with Sony phones, so I'm not impressed with this one any longer.

The people at the repair shop told me that it's not really a robust phone. but i love using it. the keypads are great. though i know, sometime now...it will have to be returned to the repair shop coz of a blank screen. --it's predictable. costly maintenance if you ask me.

I've had this phone almost a year, and up until now- it's been a great phone. I've dropped it a few times- but nothing really major... just minor scratches that haven't really damaged it. In my opinion, it holds up well. However, over the past 2 weeks, it's started getting no reception- first in the parking lot at work (where I always make calls) and finally now in my own house (where i make tons of calls) I have no reception, no bars at all. The main stickers in it don't show water damage, and it's not the sim card- so it's obviously the phone. I'm exchanging it for a new one by mail right now, and hopefully, that'll work better. I'm just worried they'll tell me it's water damage- which- since it's been dry here for awhile and I've had this problem going on 2 weeks, I doubt. But, it took a year for this problem to show... so I think it's ok overall.

This is a pretty tough little phone. I am a mechanic and honestly I pushed this phone to its limit. It has been dropped, rained on, ran over by a car, left on hot motors, frozen in the winter, basically everything that you are not to do with your phone, it survived. It may drop a call once in a while, or get a bad signal when you on the edge of nowhere. I have had it for 2 years and the charging system just now died. If a phone lasts me 2 years its tough.

I had my Sony Ericsson Z525a for 9 months and it was great! Despite me dropping it 8+ times, but what do you expect I'm 16. It worked wonderfully untill yesterday I droped it in my pool. I instantly went on eBay and bought a new one. I would recommend this phone to anyone.

This phone is absolutley fantastic!! I haven't had any problems at all with it... even after dropping it a few times. It gets insanely awesome reception. It has quite decent features as well. The only negative this phone has is that it doesn't include a walkman, but it's a phone not an mp3 player, right??

I have had this phone for 6 months and i absolutely love it to death. I take good care of it and it works great. It has shut off a few times and the display has blinked out but don't all phones do that at times especially motorolas.. it has a neat design and i love the camera. i just recieved the samsung sync as a gift and in my opinion i basically have two great phones if you have issues with it go to menu, settings, you should be in the general tab then go down to master reset.. click reset settings not reset device.. then enter password 0000 unless you have already changed the passcode.. Awesome phone in my opinion..

Hello I have a question regarding this phone, I have since 1 week and something is bothering me: both screens go black very quicly when the phone is open and not in use but also when I'm having a conversation or sending an sms, or something via bluetooth ! The inside screen first fades like when a phone goes in sleep mode and then shuts. The phone doesn't shut completely just the screen. Is this normal? My phone still has the original plastic covering on the outer LCD screen, and the phone is already MESSED UP!!! when the outer cover lasts longer than the phone itself (i do not have a case for it, which means it is definately able to peel off) then that is a PROBLEM!!!

It will randomly work (around once every 12 times I turn it on ,, the main screen doesn't work ,, and the only way for me to get the outer screen to work is if i turn it off and then on multiple times) I am actually on the internet looking for what i can do to fix this phone, and found this forum. My Sony Ericsson Z525 has been in the washing machine, the ocean, and droped a couple million times. My friends call my phone the bullet proof phone.I have had it for 3 years. Also it can last all week without the charger if it isn't used alot. It's the perfect phone for me.

This is the worst phone I have ever had. I have been through 3 of them in less than a year and now cingular won't send me another phone because the warrenty was up 3 days ago, unless I buy one. The phone quites charging after a couple of months and I have to hope that I can wiggle the charger around just right to get it to charge and hope no one touches it. and then the battery won't hold a charge at all. After having 3 phones with this exact same problem I will never get another one from sony.

Here is one way to disable the PTT button on the Ericsson Z525a phone so you don't accidentally hit it. Simply remove the rubber button from the phone by picking it out with your fingernail. Then cut off the little dimple on the underside with a pair of fingernail clippers. Put the button back on and... voila... you can hit the button all day long and it won't trigger the feature at all. Plus... by doing it this way and not simply just removing the button, you keep the phone cleaner and looking more like it should.

wasnt sure,i only had the z520i.the z525i is supposed to be a better version but opsss...sorry,it wasnt. heard of white screen cases.bluetooth is okay,very responsive.i faced problems using the media-player.at times,it constantly failed to fully play mp3 files. it comes with a speakerphone but it wasnt that useful cause it wasnt loud enough(can only be used in silent places). at times,older versions are better.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. I know that my problems are NOT a fluke--I've had THREE of the same model and ALL have been TERRIBLE and not because of abuse or misuse. My phone started malfunctioning within 2 weeks of getting it (I didn't drop it or anything)--the graphics and screens were very weird and it wouldn't ring out loud when it was NOT on silent. Then I finally exchanged it (w/ my warranty) 9 months later and that one's screen broke within 2 days. So I exchanged it AGAIN and that one also has been TERRIBLE. It consistently can't find the network, rings out loud when it's on silent (among a trillion other things) and now finally officially died yesterday (hasn't been able to find the network for 2 days).

I don't get all the complaints about the Sony z520 phones. I've had mine for 2 years & it works great! It has a camera but it's not really a camera so don't expect that. No phone is meant to be dropped on concrete as many of you stated you've done. Snapping shut a case with an LCD display will almost always cause a problem as that's a liquid crystal which technically allows it to slosh around when dropped or snapped. Treat it like what it is a phone and don't abuse it. You really might be surprised! I watched my own son throw his onto the ground after a conversation with his wife. Hello they don't bounce!

My husband & I have had these phones for about 8 months and are not wild about them. We both find it hard to hear. When I use my bluetooth, it's fine, but otherwise, it's very difficult to hear. Poor reception inside and outside of my home (possibly a Cingluar problem, but happens even with full signal) and I'm less than 5 air miles from downtown Charleston, SC. I too hate the flip case and the fact you can't use a GOOD belt clip or case with it is unbelievable. No wonder so many people have dropped these phones. No more buying phones online for me without first looking at them in a store! 20 months left on my contract, but I may spring for another phone before summer. As for the moisture claims, I think all cell phone manufacturers use that as a way to get out of replacing the phones because we CAN'T disprove it. Same happened with my last LG. myself and two other people who have this phone have had the same problem of the screen getting messed up when the phone was dropped once. i've had continual other problems, the most problematic one is that now my phone freezes on me, and is unable to produce any sound at all (earphone, ringing, alarm clock) and i have to restart it. this happens about 2 times a day. this is a very unreliable phone.

I dropped this phone from my shoulder ONE time less than 24 hours after I received it. The front LCD is now toast and cant be read. The rest of the phone works but the PTT button is in the way. This was the 3rd warantee replacement I've had. The first 2 phones were the z520 which did not have the annoying PTT button, however they had the same problem as everyone else. Freezing, dropped calls, have to remove the battery to end a call etc. Cingular would not send a different brand so I bought a pda phone. I am now a Blackberry addict and think that if you want PTT you should get a freakin walkie talkie.

ive had this phone for about 6 months on contract.. the first one i had suddenly decided that it would never find any serive.. so i could never ring, text or recieve calls, texts etc. i sent it back to the company and they replaced it, but claimed the fault was down to water damage. i am quite confident that this was't true, i never put my phone near water! anyway, they replaced it so i didn't complain. but now i have had this new one for about a month or two.. and the the screen won't work on it, it still rings etc, but i cannot use the phone because the display doesn't come up. when the phone was working, i didnt think it was particularly good, and i certainly wouldn't reccomend it after the trouble i have had with mine.

To begin with let me first mention that i have had this phone for a while, about 10 months. This is my 3rd one in that time period. i have had to send it back twice becasue all of a sudden it just stopped havein service. the first time this happend, about 3 weeks after i got it, i figured i was either in a bad place for cells or server was just very busy,however i was wrong and i have to send for a new one. Same thing happened with the second one this time after 3 months. the annoying thing was that cingular kept extending my contract every time i got a new phone. but lets go on to pros and cons... pros: user freindly very, very light lots of cool features( video dj and the like) bluetooth easy to customize easy access to your email, sports and any other stuff on the web cons: hard to open. when i read the reviews before i got it i thought to myself that this isnt such a big deal. it is. this model is missing the spring that flips open the phone, so if you are driving, in bed or just in a rush to pick up it becomes increasingly annoying. as stated before the phone has broken down on me twice and any attempts to convince cingular to send me an equal level phone, just not this one... but to no avail. the picture and video qaulity is mediocre at best. and the each video only lasts for 30 seconds before you have to start a new one no place for a added memory speakerphone is ok, volume is a bit low. all in all to be honest i wouldnt reccomend the phone to anyone, when people ask me why i don't like it, i just hand it to them and ask them to open it,after watching them struggle for a bit they see why...

I have this phone. Its not bad, but the picture quality isnt all that good. Just recently the screen just stopped working for no reason and its just all messed up. It will still let me call out and recieve calls (most of the time) but I cant see anything on either screen. They said that all they can do is send me a new one...but the same one.

Nice phone for the price. Great reception and loud ringer. The downside is the stupid PTT button that I hit ALL the time on accident and sending people to voice mail when opening the phone is a pain in the neck as well.

They gave me a new one (but i had to keep the original battery) and i had the same probleme with it right away. I went back to the store and told them that but they said they couldn't do anything about it.Now im stuck with a phone that works when it feels like it.

Phone is awesome. Small memory but good enough for short ringtones. I just use a 30 second clip from a song to use as a ringtone and i can store 30 of them. I also like the fact that you could download themes and this one site that i know has a lot. You could also make your own theme with this software. Ringtone is loud. The light effects are very cool at night, you could set an individual light for each caller. Changeable covers is also a good feature since i like changing the colors that sets the mood (ebay sells them for 5$ each). Camera is so-so, but then again you should know that by now that VGA is not meant for pros. I use the camera for picture ID's. My bluetooth H500 works great but i wish that the ringtone on the phone transmits to the headset (you hear this midi tone on the headset). Data cable is a must get if you want to transfer ring-tones, pictures and themes. Front screen is almost scratch-free, i've stored it in my pocket and keys have grinded and still no scratch. Recommended for people who wants a simple but feature-packed phone.

The Z525 is by far the worst phone we ever owned the PTT button is a total pain, it does take two hands to open, the screen goes black too quick the sound is up and down. We bought three, one only lasted a week.

I am very disappointed right now because of this phone. The z525 is everything I ever wanted plus more. I love the features and the design more than any other phone I have ever seen for the same great price. However, in my experience, it is dysfunctional. My mother bought the same phone and was having the same problems of intermittent very poor sound quality, random dropped calls, blank screens when opening, and slow processing when opening and closing. We only had them for a couple of weeks and feared the worst would happen after our 30 day trial period. Regrettably, we had to return them. When we did, we were told that 2 others had been returned that day. My personal opinion: the z520 was a great phone, but when they added the push to talk feature, it created some problem that causes all of this heartache. Please Sony, fix this phone!

I had the Sony Ericsson Z520 and was really disappointed when I found out I couldn't replace my current one with a new one. It has the best coverage I've had in a cell phone. My husband hunts and I never could get service in the woods when I'd go to meet him, with this one I could even sit in our trailer in the woods and talk. I sure hope the new Z525 is just as good.

i just got this model, had two 520's. all have the same problem. i'm talking to someone and the phone just quits. i can call them back, but who needs that. have had three seperate models and they all operate the same way.

I Have this phone and a gew of my friends have this phone. We all have had the same problems....sometimes the phone will freeze up in the middle of a call and you have to completely take the battery out just to end the call, or the phone will ring and when you go to answer it the phone completey shuts off. There are a few other problems and I also called cingular and they told me that it is the phone not the service and that the only thing that they could do is send me another phone (the same make and model) and hope that it was just this phone. Considering I personally know of two other people with the same phone and the same problems, I think that I will pass. Good luck with yours.

I recently purchased this phone and I was happy with it, until I reached its first flaw. Whenever I would close the phone it would completely shut down and would not be able to recieve phone calls, text messages, etc. I contactedv Cingular and they reported to me that it was a *special* feature. I told them that it wasn't too special and then called the next day and got a different operator. They told me the same thing and I called the next day and I got another different operator. They told me it was a complete malfunction and that they would send me the Sony Ericsson W600a in complete apology for the mislead employees and for the phone malfunction. Besides the malfunction, I think this phone would be good if it didn't have that malfunction. Pros: PTT function, easy user-interface, slim design, T9 capability Cons: Malfunction, reception

well, this phone work well for me.. i admit it has very small memory space, but those who bought it shud have notice it b4 they bought it.. y complain? n the picture quality is not tat good, come on, as if it has any megapixel.. I still think this is a great phone for its' price.. at least, it doesn't hang like other SE phone. check out z610, it's damn cool.

let`s i have this phone, but it`s a z525a. don`t know the major difference but i don`t like this phone. it glitches and freezes. it worser then a motorola. after awhile when look at my menu the backcolor of the icons are black. the side buttons is absolutely annoying. i only like that the speakers are uberr loud so when i make my own ringtones it`s loud. it has no games, and the camera quality sucks. sometimes the phone fags out and i can`t call people and i have to hold the button to turn it off for awhile for it to turn off and push it even longer to turn it back on. ahh!!

ATTENTION, be careful if you want to bye this Phone. I�ve had it, and had to go back to the store for like five times. When having a conversation the connection fails after a few minutes. There are a lot of bad phones of this model, so if you want to gamble, its up to you. I changed it for another phone. Cant believe that sony ericsson allows these phones for sail. But it�s always about the money right. Have to admit it looks great, works fine, long conversation time. But if you don�t mind to phone everybody back if thy call you, its your choice

This phone sucks had for about 2 weeks and hate it. Buttons on the side of phone are really sensitive and when i first got it it said the camera wouldnt work because i needed to upgrade the software. I took it back and they happily exchanged it then the phone kept shutting down etc. This is one of the poorest se phone i have ever seen. The nokia n70 is way better and is what i am going to be using from now on..

I agree, this phone reception sucks...I simply wanted a phone that I could have a conversation on and would stay charged for 12 hours-it stays charged alonfg time(not as long as my last erickson which by the way I got for free and lasted 4 years)...the reverb on this phone sucks-the other person fades in and out and echos...its irritating. too expensive of a phone-didnt care about features just wanted one that worked well.

The reception continually fades in and out on calls, even when we're standing still - In addition, the PTT button on the side is highly annoying, the screen fades after about 10 seconds, and it does take 2 hands to open the phone to answer it - We've had these phones for about a week and we are NOT happy with them.

I have this phone . The charger pins broke off the first time I charged it. the new charger is $30.00 plus taxes. If I new the charger had this issue I would never have bought it. No matter how gentle you are it breaks of the pins that conect to the phone.

I am just wondering who designed this phone? This is the first SonyEricsson that, actually, has great reception, good set of features, and VERY POOR ergonomical design!!! Camera button activates camera in your pocket, you cannot open the phone with one hand. For some reason Nokia looks the same but I had no problem to open it with one hand. As for the features and lack of external memory, let's remember that this is a phone, not media player. If you play your MP3's that will drain your battery and most likely you will not be able to accept next incoming call...

Worst phone I have ever owned. Both side buttons are extremely sensitive and are placed where you hold the phone to open. So, either the camera goes off or I send the call to voice mail. Secondly, I don't know if I have a problem phone, but the background goes away every so often, then I can't make or receive calls, then if I try to shut it off, it will not turn back on. The only way to reset is to take the battery out and put it back in. This happens quite frequently. I HATE THIS PHONE.

I have one, and it's amazing but it has 3 problems, first, no support external memory, second no EDGE and third, a very sencitive camera button. In my opinion if sony ericsson invent a phone with this three things and lools like the Z520, there is no phone which can compite with this.

Sony Ericsson after sales service is very slow. I had my cell phone returned for repair under warranty and the repair took 30 days. To all new to Sony Ericsson, their phones may look fantastic, but they usually disappoint. The cameras of W550, K600, K700, etc will give blurred images particularly indoors. Better go for Nokia, Samsung, or Motorola. I have promised myself not to go for Sony Ericsson ever again. I am a former Sony Ericsson loyalist. And I regret it.

The most important difference between Z520 and Z525 is that the external camera button that is on Z520 is missing on Z525.On Z525 this external button is replaced by button for "Push To Talk" (PTT). So the "worried" people that say "The external camera button is very sensitive on Z520" maybe will like the Z525 :-)

The Official differences between z520 and z525 (1 years worth of an update): -10 mm shorter in length -2 grams lighter -HSCSD -Only one color option vs. 520's four -push-to-talk -worse battery (320 hours vs. 520's 400 hours standby time, 5 hours talk time vs. 520's 9 hours) Every other feature is perfectly identical. Quite the bootleg update if you ask me. SE could have at least increased memory, or thrown in 1.3 mp camera
