I've got a problem with my OT 756 :(. One thay with no reason it turned off and then when I want to turn it on the keys and the display just flash for a second showing me the logo of Alcatel and turns off again. I like the handset very much and want to use it longer in time. Does anyone know how to fix it and to solve that big problem? Many thanks in advance:)

I liked the phone, but in a pretty short time it stopped working.. it somehow developed a micro-crack in its battery, I have no idea how. The warranty couldn't repair it. It is a fragile phone, be warned.

to p.brijmohan - about the lack communication via gprs internet you need to install the modem driver from alcatel (the one windows warns about) to make it work. the warning comes from windows because alcatel didn't want to pay microsoft to test it and that procedure also takes time. I'm suing a lot of unsigned drivers on windows xp (from the alcatel phones to some adapter card with a ltp port for my printer) - don't have problems with the drivers. and I guess it's also easier to use the alcaltel configuration software to setup and connect to some internet

i've tried connecting to gprs on my ot756 with my pc via irda to no avail.alcatel ot756 irda modem is not tested by microsoft & is a risk installing on your pc.i've installed modem via irda & it confirms installed but troubleshooter on my pc displays modem not configured properly.i've tried installing modem differently but no good.otherwise ot756 is tough & i've dropped it on uncountable occasions but it didn't sustain any damage.the memory is insufficient,alcatel should have accomodated for memory card slot or a larger memory.other than that it's an excellent phone.

i bought the phone about a year ago its been fine it seems realy good like it sais it has vidio and mp3 but the vidio only records for 30 seconds and you can olnly download that much aswell its the same with mp3s aswell

This phone is pretty good unless you get SMS messages. The customer service at Alcatel in Melbourne is an absolute joke. They admitted that the phone was defective when launched and that new software would fix the problem. 12 months warranty and guess what? Phone out of warranty. Still they said if I sent it to them they would fix the problem ... $45 + postage and return, about $9. So for $54 I could get them to fix my message sound, trouble if I bought a second one at the time for my wife so to get both the phones fixed, $108.00. Stick it Alcatel.

Ive had this phone for over a year now and its been pretty good to me. Yes it deletes contacts all by itself.....isn't it clever. It freezes sometimes, the memory is to small and ive deleted everything i can off it and have no Mp3's or downloaded ring tones just pics and small videos and its full. I think if it had 20meg then a song or two and some video longer then 30 seconds wouldve made this phone a lot better. Best thing of all it bounces!! Ive dropped it atleast 50 times and work in a dusty workshop and it loves it, so give em hell. Cheers Steve

my brother has one Alcatel OT 756 here in portugal and the operator is TMN good thing about TMN is that they allways have the phones updated! So my brother's phone is working like a swiss watch! No problems with the contacts and sms rings! the only problem in that phone is that he doesn't accept sound with more than 30s even if they are smal like 100KB he doen't accept them! I am using an Motorola E1000 great phone when updated i recomend it for it's sound, 2 cameras, Stereo sound with two speakers and the video playback on that supreme LCD! the only problem on E1000 is the battery lenght, about 3 days, and 1 day and a half if you use it a lot for multimedia. Both phones are problematic it is true but with the right firmware updates they work like swiss watches lol! Keep it real people!

When I purchased an OT 756 back in August 2004, I thought I would dispense with my old style paper phonebook I had to use with my Siemens S25. But I later found I had to keep it, because the Ot 756 keeps on deleting contacts on its own! Reading other posts I realized this problem is not unique to me. Furthermore, I need to save more than 600 contacts and lacking a reliable search function in the software is true back off.

Hello everybody! I am writing this text to help anyone who wants to buy this phone. It has some good but some bad things too. This phone has very attractive options and it is very practical. It has Camera VGA with video which is the most interestin option for mobile phone like this. It's pictures are very good when they are sent to a PC, and this phone synchronized with PC is a real BOMB. Is has no disadvantages except the sound and the memory. I think that the memory is very poor with 4MB. You cannot put whole MP3 song in it. The worst thing is the MIDI playback. It is very poor because of the 32 channels polyphonic ringtones. I think if you want a good sound quality it is bettter to buy the Alcatel OT556. But OT 556 has no MP3. If you have answers on this question: How to put the whole song in WAVE format in Alcatel 556? i have read the reviews on these pages, and decided despite the not so good ones that i would get the phone. it is a very good phone, i would recommend it to anyone. its fairly cheap, but still has a lot of features. mine did not have the problem with the low sms vibrate (though i did buy one that had been previously returned - i don't know why, there's nothing wrong with it). i particularly like the tone recorder - saves forking out $5 everytime i want a new ringtone! overall - 8.5/10

If you get music match jukebox and convert your mp3's to 8k of sound they can be sent to your phone and played Any mp3 bigger than 150k wont be sent. so any music file you can compress in Mp3 to under 150k will fit on the phone. I use infrared it may be diff for USB. I got 9 full length songs on mine. press the camera or call button to keep the phone from going back to the menu during music playback. Also I noticed that when the battery gets to no bars left the phones volume level is automatically decreased. I have never used and never will use vibrate its a useless feature imo. Hope this info helps

Dear Nicholas; it's only 4MB shared memory, hence u cannot download a full song or video. use the alcatel software, truncate ur music (eg: max 20 sec for MP3) & download via WAP or IR. abt. the camera issue, see the service center. thks

To all OT756 users and potential users: I've used the phone for 1 yr already. Here are my comments: 1. If you experienced low SMS ringtone, get the firmware upgraded 2. There is NO vibrate and ring for incoming SMS - a bad point 3. Text SMS is not as user friendly as NOKIA - a bad point 4. Good camera & video & great LCD 262k screen 5. Have not experience where contacts have been deleted. BUT! In the contact folder, there is GENERAL, PROFESSIONAL, PERSONAL etc...where u categories ur contacts. The GENERAL folder will have all contacts of PROFESSIONAL, PERSONAL etc. Deleting a contact from any folder, will delete that contact wherever it's found in any folders, except for SIM card. Hope this is clear. 6. Only 4MB shared memory - which is okay for normal phone usage 7. Phone sometimes resets itself when scrolling thru the sound folders. 8. boought the phone anyway (was the only decent business phone avialable in Adelaide) Try disabling the beep on keypress to fix the low ringtones. worked for me.great phone Only problem being video settings arent saved. very quick through the menus though. the big silver thing at the back is a mirror for self portraits. also should be an option to automaticaly save videos. Although there may be an option to do that. 1 thing ive struggled to figure out though is how to lock the phone in manual locking mode.

Hey what are all the problems with this phone im considering buying it however its a bit scary when i hear it deletes phone numbers or doesnt save them to begin with. does it delete them when the memory's full or delete them when the memory isnt even close to full. This MObile is the badest mobile all over the worled because beside all the problems which faced the custmers i faced an other great problem and nobody could solve it,,, The problem is the phone is deleting the contacts numbers and names by itself and to record a contact number you must switch it off and then on to keep it but usually it become deleted so you must enter it again and do the same operation so can you imagine that i lost about 150 contact numbers in one night without any prewarrning and i sent to Alcatel head office and what they did only sent me to their agent in Egypt and i changed the mobile itself four times befor and realy it was wanderful because every time i change it comes with a new defects but the most commen defect always is deleting the contacts and no one knows how to repair it so i do not advice any body to deal with Alcatel becaue according to my presufring with them they does not support their products ........ To Zave, I don't consider that missing your messages is a little problem. If you don't care when you look at the message then I guess to you, it is one little problem. However to me I need to know immediately when I get a message. The reason I will not purchase this brand of phone again is because the manufacturer is leaving this problem for the consumer to solve rather than correcting the problem before they distribute it. Maybe in other countries they have solved that but in Australia they admitted they are releasing this phone even though they know it is defective and they have possession of the upgrade software. That in my opinion stinks. I do agree with you that it is a great phone for its features but as long as they expect me to solve a problem that they know they are passing on to me then I am not interested. I want a reliable phone that works now! It is a shame because I did really like the phone. I suggest to potential customers to be wary of this defect. Try putting in your sim card to the phone before you buy it. Send yourself a text message. Check if it is as loud as the sample tone within settings. Decide if you are happy with this volume. Then decide it you still like the phone. At least this way you can buy a phone without having to deal with a warranty claim as soon as you buy it. Hope this helps.

This phone is defective before it is even distributed and Alcatel have admitted this to me. There is a defect in the volume of the ring tones for messages. In the ring tone set up, the volume is quite loud however when you actually get a message you probably won�t even notice it unless it is in your hand. Don�t bother setting it to vibrate. You won�t notice that either. Nor will it ring and vibrate in messages. Try sitting the phone on your leg and set off the vibrator. Neither my wife nor I could notice the vibration at all. However if you set the phone on its edge you can feel the vibration. Question, Who puts their phone on their pockets on there edge? Answer, Alcatel owners because you can�t feel the vibration if the phone is on its face against your leg and you sure as hell can�t hear the ring tones for a message. I asked the Alcatel customer service people how to correct the inaudible ring tones for the messages and they replied this is a defect with the software and there is a software package available if the phone is still within warranty. I asked if I could swap the phone with an updated version in another shop that might have the updated models delivered, as my phone was only 1 week old. The Alcatel rep replied that no phones are distributed with the new software installed, Customers must send back their phones to have the new software installed. My problem with this is Alcatel are knowingly distributing defective phones and putting the onus back on their customers to have their brand new phones repaired. Very poor performance Alcatel! It is a shame because I really wanted to keep the phone. I did get my money back and will not consider Alcatel products again.

Hi, my 756 has low sms ringtone but latest versions don't have this problem. It can also be flashed with a later software which resolved this problem, though this can be done if there is an Alcatel service centre or equivalent. Also check if phone vibrates and rings for sms because mine doesn't. Hope this helps

Hi, from reviews I read it seems that the only difference between 756 & 757 is the design. Don't often use mms, but when I did my friend received it ok, she has a SE k500. Hope this helps.

I don't buy any other brand but Alcatel since the HC 1000 Model! I do recpect Alcatel brilliant software. Now I have the 715, an outstanding cell phone indeed, but i just want to buy the 757 or 756 for the camera feature and more. The only problem is that I'm not sure if any of them has the 800X23 multyfield phone book as the great 715 does. Any feedback? Thanks!

I thought that "Alcatel" was for gays!!Its the first phone that has about 250 000 colours!Do you beleive that??and when you look at the OT 756 webpage you see amazing vidoes!What graphics!But it has only 4 MB so you can only make about 4 mins of video..thats bad.But i like the menu and all the new features.I think that Alcatel`s brand is now more respected than before cuz i dont think that nobody expected that "Alcatel"would be the first one to make a 250 000 color screen..I wanted to know what to buy the "Nokia 3220" or "OT 756"..I mean what are the NOKIA guys thinkin??3220 costs a lot more than that Alcatel and that nokia has only a few features + the camera quality is really bad...The only problem with 756 is that i think that the video quality is lagging...what do you think?Its only 2290.- in our country which makes 152 EURO...AMAZING!!!ALCATEL OWNS!!!

i bought it and it is superb.The features are top class, the screen is bright, the batery has a long life, the camera is very good, with a lot of quality options. I am very pleased with it,altough i didnt trust too much Alcatel brand. And for the price that i payed for it, it is unbeliveable. VERY, VERY GOOD!!!!!

I dont like the way pictures or video is diplayed, the screen dims to fast and you cant watch it without touching a keypad to re-activate the view all the time and why does a text message always display over the picture your trying to view. How can i extend the viewing time and how can i get rid of all the nuisance information on the screen. Another thing, the alarm clock doesnt have suspend time or known as snooze on it. Also you cant read what time it is without turning it on or touching the pads. But overall happy with some of the funtions.

it really ain't 332 mate ;o). this phone does support mp3 and when you increase the sound to 120% in some program, it will be extra loud ;o). that FW which fixes the volume of incoming sms is out more than 2,5 months in my country....

that low sound is because your mobile is made before 28.10.2003 I think. it even doesn't matter what type of FW you've got. just go to the authorized service and tell them, that you've got this problem and you want a new FW. It's gonna be normal after this ;o)

I have the alcatel OT756 for almost a month now and i must say that this is a very good cellphone engineering work. From the tight sturdy casing, decent looks and bright blue backlighting to the notably bright colorful screen and thoughful user interface, its simply great! I have extensively used the camera and to date I have took 1,035 photos already. The images are the best in its class and may even be the best vga cam exquipped phone by far. Whether viewed from a pc monitor or commercially printed in a photo center, the pictures are crisp and true to color. The only two drawbacks I can say is the lack of feature to insert phone numbers from directory in a message or sending a phone number in the directory as a text; and second the low incoming sms tone volume bug/problem. But everything else including the java handling, voice command, voice dial, animation and video features make this phone well worth its price. It may even be the cheapest, best value colored and vga camera equipped phone in its class here in the Philippines. I just hope that the local service center would have available after sales support very soon. Once the minor bugs are fixed, this phone would be perfect!

The phone's interface and programs may be not as fantastic as Nokia's but it's well worth the price. The camera's much clearer than Nokia 3220's that's in the same price range. Even though there r some drawback like no expansion, proper MP3 player or bluetooth, it's still a great phone & I'm very proud to own one.

for the yahoo group, you have to click join the group or something (but you need a yahoo account 1st, trust me its worth the suscribtion, at least for the java games :) ) and for the website, you have to click on "inscrivez vous maintenant", there is a thread in the forum with a translation in english to help you, then you will be able to access wallpapers, etc. that's it.

Now i'm wondering something else, when you transter files to your phone via the Alcatel Web mail (they give you a code that you have to write and you get your file) is it free ? (beside the wap connection) i think i read it somewhere but i'm not sure anymore. yeah, i got the same problem aswell for the SMS ringtone volume, even tho i really like the phone, its kinda annoying. And by the way, i'm not sure it's really worth it to buy the IRDA stuff to transfer sounds, pictures, etc, i just upload them on a FTP, then browse my server with GPRS, then download the stuff i want on the mobile. Also, i was wondering if anyone knows whats the file extension for java games ? cause i got some but i can't download them with my OT756, it says it doesnt recognize the files, the extension is *.jar

I've got this phone two weeks ago and I think it's a great phone. Alcatel firmware programmers have done a great job by packing in as many features as possible. BUT, there seems to be a BUG for the volume of the incoming SMS ringtone. The volume is fix (very soft) eventhough the speaker volume has set to the highest level. In other words, there is no control volume for the incoming SMS ringtone. Do any of you guys face this problem? Please let me know. BTW, does anyone know, what buttons should I press to view the firmware version of this phone? Thanks.

I had the phone few days ago, it was a surprise compared to 735,535. Alcatel is back to market with a value for money product. based on my test the display "despite 262k color is not impressive enough compared to samsung d410, but better than nokia 6600, sound of midi and mp3 is great compared to previous noisy alcatel phones, mp3 melodies are limited to 29 sec long!!! annoying if u compare to nokia n-gage, I think the reason for this limit is that the phone has no memory card ( compromise for the price also) major mistake by alcatel this phone supposed to be high end line released in 2004 should have bluetooth, memory card especially when it is equipped with a great camera , video and a good disply. no fm radio no music player I suppose nokia still on top. this phone is a good performer for most wise users only the silver color is good, blue and red is toy like, thanks to alcatel adding java at last after everbody does, reception signal and battery is superior to all other phones. if alcatel people is reading my coments please consider bluetooth, memoery card, fm radio in ur next model and please make it quick if u wish to share the market.

Thanks dude, I�ll get an infra-red port then. About the Chinese language thing, I don�t know what�s wrong with my phone coz only the �Tips&Tricks� function�s in Chinese. The phone can be set into few languages- English, Malay, and Chinese. Ok, now more about the camera. The camera for the phone is pretty good and clear compared to other phones. You can take pics in a few sizes- VGA (640X480), Panoramic, XL (128X160), L (128X128), M (64X64), and S (32X32). You can edit the pictures with frames and add sound clips. You can shoot pics in different qualities (High, std and economy), white balance can be set (automatic, sunny, cloudy, night and indoor) and color can also be set to black&white, sepia and negative. There is also a timer function. Quite cool for a mobile phone meh? Now the video. There are 2 modes- MMS (10secs) and long mode (up to 30secs). You can record videos with or without sound and color can also be set like the camera. You can also encode and download videos into the phone using the PC Suite software up to 300kB (3gp file). The phone has a 4mB memory but 1.5mB is used for preloaded pics, melodies and videos. You can also set atmospheres and menu colors to blue, green, multicolor, pink, yellow and purple. You can also set a video for your wallpaper and contacts. 2 java games are preloaded- Gulostale and SpeedDevils. I hope this info will help you deciding to buy this phone. Does anybody knows where to get the data cable for the phone in Malaysia? Or is it cheaper to get an infra-red port? Currently, I'm using my Sony Clie PDA to transfer wallpapers to it and it works perfectly. But onmy JPEG files, no midis or MP3s. And one more thing, anyone knows how to change the language for the 'Tips&tricks function? Mine's in chinese and I can't understand at all. It's kinda weird coz only that function's in chinese. By the way, it's a great phone to own and all my friends were inpressed with how clear the camera is on the 262K TFT screen. And the tones too. The MP3 tones will just make Nokia and Motorola owners jealous. No kidding! Haha. But the MP3 tones are limited to 150kB -15-20 seconds (Just nice for Kylie's Red Blooded Woman!)

I bought one 2 weeks ago. A blue one. Looks great. Feels great too. Superb quality for the price. I got a good discount- the normal price in Malaysia is RM1099 but i got it at RM990 only(without reg.) The screen is superb and the camera too. You can take pics and record videos with 8x zoom but the video is a bit lagging. The camera's quality's very good compared to my bro's Nokia 3650 and 3200. Nokia sux man. The tones are great too. Especially the MP3 tones. There are a few default tones but i dunno how to upload more into it. The batt. lasts quite long- about 6 days before it needed to be charged. But the only problem I have now is that i cant access the GPRS and cant send any MMS. I called DiGi two days ago and they have activated it but they said that i must configure the phone. Anyone knows how to set up the phone? Anybody? Plsss.. Help me. Thank You.

It does have an mp3 player and you can download a Java e-mail client for it. Memory could have been bigger, but it's for young people, it's not a business phone... It'll cost a lot less than K700. I think the radio function is completely useless.

My first cell-phone was Alcatel OT Easy thet I bought 4 years ago. I had absolutely no problems with it, and battery is perfect, even today it lasts 3-4 days. My second cell-phone was Alcatel OT Max and I have him 3.5 years. He works perfect! My third was some Siemens, he quickly bored me, then I decided to buy Nokia 3310, it was cheap and all my friends had it, thet was the biggest mistake of my life, a complete waste of money. Battery lasted 9 months!and now my sister has to "fill it" every day! Then I got back to my first and true love, I bought myself Alcatel 525 and he is so perfect and cute, reliable, I adore it. I think my next phone will be Alcatel 756 but in a few years. When someone says to me Alcatel is shit, I would like to punch him in the balls. When someone says to me Nokia is the best, I would like to throw at him my 3310.

Report: Alcatel to Sell Mobile Unit French telecommunications equipment maker Alcatel SA plans to sell its mobile phone unit to Chinese handset maker Nanjing Panda Electronics, a French newspaper reported Monday.
