Asus Zenfone 4 Max ZC520KL - User Reviews

  • my phone got touch screen issue, after upgrading.. please help me,

  • My phone is not working now , I will buy it again

  • After one year of use battery started to act up. The phone would power off even if I had a substantial amount of charge still left. Sometimes it wont even charge and just starts blinking red. First Asus phone I bought, and the last Asus phone I will ever buy.

  • I have used this phone for 1 year and 1 month +- , at the beginning everything was perfect except that my phone turned off and cant be turned on twice then my digitizer doesnt function and it keeps blinking. The technical spec is awesome but thats all.

  • I have already performed hard factory reset but my phone is still not working properly it automatically shuts off even if I do have 80% of my battery

  • correct me if im wrong 1. There is no gyro setting in this phone 2. whenever u open up youtube for vr 360 video, no cardbox icon show up 3. when i open Facebook vr video, i can use the vr motion 4. i install some vr video apps to see some video. but no motion vr working

  • Press power button and down volume at the same time for about 10 secs, then select: Data Factory Reset. Use Up and down buttons to move around and power button to accept/ confirm. Make sure you back up everything first and delete you google account off of it before you do this.

  • Why my line is so bad with this asus? Other than this phone is superb.

  • Just asking, my phone is about a year and 6 months, suddenly my battery is draining so fast , and there are times that even if I do have still 30% of my battery it shuts down automatically. Need help .

  • I have used asus zenfone 4 max about 3 month. Very poor smart phone. Camera and speaker very bad. Recently, my phone keeps freezing and dying(black screen of death, BSOD) everyday. And to solve it, I need to press and hold power button about 15 seconds and more. It really irritates me. I hope this phone will be the last phone i bougth with the brands 'asus' on it (haha).

  • Same with my phone.auto shutdown especially when call in/out. I have sent to ASUS warranty and mother board exchange but still have the same problem

  • Are this zen 4 max can use VR 3d?

  • This is great value. Is 3GB. Not bloated, got rid of instagram, facebook, n others i dont want. Chrome n Google force stopoed, without problems. I use Cheetah mobile, which blocks ALL ads, n DuckDuckGo browsers. AVG anti virus n cleaner protects n cleans my phone junk every day. Charge battery every 3 days. Upgraded to Android 8, system, in massive 572MB update, via wifi - after, recharge burned out charger. Coincidence? Latest big update declined, n no problems.

  • Seems it does. They sent a different version for LATAM... though it's a cheaper one coming with only 2GB of RAM rather than 3GB and only 16GB of internal memory. OR it might be an accelerometer+compass calculation that simulates gyroscope. I'd need to try VR with it just to be sure... I'll check with my friends if any of them have some VR googles (I don't as I'm not really interested in it at the moment) Edit: I just accessed the hardware test menu, found the item for gyroscope and it worked and passed the test, I assume that means it does have grysoscope as the test says clearly that I needed to roll the phone in two different directions to check if it detected gravity.

  • Around 3 security updates since August and Android Oreo update (8.1)

  • Hi t7B, sorry for anwering so late. I've had this phone since first week of August: Regarding the body, I'm not sure what material is but sure it's not aluminium or plastic, feels reeeeally sturdy, the feel of this phone is one of a flagship one, doesn't bend at all, the back and sides are very resistant to scratches. I had a xiaomi redmi note 5a before this one, they are similar in chipset/GPU but the difference in their bodies jumps to sight inmediately, that xiaomi had an aluminium body that was very easy to bend (it bended a little bit when I rode my bike with it in my pocket for a week and ended up having a fisure on its battery due to that, this Zenfone has been with me for more than 100 hours of biking without the minor signal of bending). About the fingerprint reader: I have been always skeptic about using those as I thought they would be laggy or would fail easily. I gave it a chance with this phone and it's reaaaaally fast and accurate. That's all I have to say.

  • any software update?

  • Hi guys, I just want to ask if this phone is made from aluminum or has a metal/aluminum body? And if the fingerprint sensor is fast and responsive. Thanks!

  • Yep, I'm pretty sure. You can check it here. But, I'm also thinking, maybe it has some different spec in different country like what they say in the bottom of the page.

  • Are you sure? I'm using a couple apps that require gyroscope for some (non-necessary) functions and they work correctly.

  • Just bought one last week. So far everything is working properly. The camera quality is poor.

  • I bought this phone last Thursday. Since then found it has screen/touch response problem. Most probably need to send (waste my time) to service centre so early. Why ASUS? Thinking this will be my third ASUS phone and last.

  • you need to edit the sensor section. the tech specs in asus site and check some review video said that this phone has no gyroscope sensor. so sad, this phone would be perfect for me if it has a gyroscope sensor.

  • Good budget phone, at RM399 (around USD97), this is bargain..

  • Agree with that, I'm very picky about volume and this phone performs great in that area if you enable outdoor mode under the volume controls.

  • Bought this on promtion for 159 Euros, saving 70 Euros. Looks and feels superior in quality. IS 3 RAM in Europe. Closest best quality rival, Xiaomi, was 249 Euros. The Asus uses a key to release a small holder for 2 chips & SD card. Rapid charge is, er, rapid. Only gripe is charger connector partially fits wrong way up, so presume gently forcing for that reassuring click will damage, or wreck, the connector.

  • Anyone here who knows when will it have an Android Oreo update?

  • Purchased the phone for 200 EUR. Overall loved the phone in proportion to its price, but a very bad surprise set in when the battery died only 6 months after I bought it.

  • many people says that the volume is very low...but i'll say "just a stupid people who can't operate this good phone who can't set this phone up"

  • Yup, it improves security a bit and personally I haven't had any issues since the update.

  • I purchased this phone. I must say, it doesn't have 3GB of RAM, it has 2GB (and yes, i checked the variant and it is indeed ZC520KL). Leaving that aside, up to know it's been running great, however my other phone, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5a lite (y1 lite) has the same chipset and runs even better, it is specially noticeable when gaming, seems like Asus got a bug or two in 2D rendering as there are some non-heavy 2D games that lag a lot in this Zenfone but run smoothly in the Xiaomi phone. Regarding image quality: I'm amazed, picture in this screen looks reeeeeeally great! Battery life: Well, today is saturday and I've been gaming almost all day (had a busy week, decided to spend my saturday relaxing and my wife is out) and it's still at 47% battery. I've played around 6 hours and spent one more hour watching videos (and I had gps enabled by mistake all that time). Regarding the build quality, This Zenfone is extremely sturdy, feels great in the hand. I usually ride my bike while carrying it in my pocket. My Redmi suffered from that as the phone was actually getting bent and the screen started suffering from ghost touch because of it, my Zenfone doesn't get bent at all and hasn't shown any sign of possible damage. It's a bit sad that this zenfone doesn't have an infrared port, I can't use it as remote controller like I did with my redmi. i hope this helps people decide whether they buy it or not.

  • I was about to buy oppo A83 or Vivo y71 as my budget is only 7k here in the manila, but luckily when i went to Sm north edsa , there is a mobile convention and a sale of different mobile phone models and I was able to bump into a lady who is promoting asus brand, and she recommended perfect handset for me and for my usage. classic design, durable and easy to use , i dont need very large screen , this one is perfect for me.

  • is that ok to update the software ?

  • The phone is a nice handset for light user. I'm just waiting for the incoming Android 8.0 update.

  • may be your cable is not supported, try with another cable

  • Great sound,im satisfied,very good asus zenfone max 4 lite thumbs up!!!cool

  • Same as mine. Autoshutdown.

  • Can't connect to my pc..

  • this fone is nice actually, but my problem now is my cellhone is automatically shutdown i dont know why...this time i regret buying this phone..

  • Been using it for months now, it actually does it job pretty well. I bought it for 140usd, among the cheapest phone in my country. Pros: - The most amazing quality here is its battery. At 100% battery, I've played games like pubg mobile and asphalt 8 from 7 am till 7pm and there's still around 50% left. - Gameplay performance is pretty good as long as you don't set their graphics to high quality, and that's ok for me. - Fingerprint feature works like it's intended to be, I've registered both of my thumbs and I never fails to unlock my phone using them. - Charging time is also surprisingly fast even though its capacity is higher than most handphone. - I Don't have any problem with its basic phone functions like making a call, messaging, etc. and also every apps I've installed works pretty good. Never have any problem with apps like some people claimed. Cons: -Some apps may have low sound, while some other apps can be very loud. for example, when i opened youtube from firefox, the sound felt muffled. But when i opened from chrome, it works fine. Pubg mobile should be played using earphone, you can't even hear your own footsteps while using speaker, while dancing line's speaker sounds works just fine. -Dunno why, people's face almost always looked a little blurry every time i take pictures, I've messed with the settings but the problems persist.. although regular non-selfie photos works ok, but that's fine by me as I'm not a social-media kind of guy.

  • I regret buying this phone, using for 5 days only then the phone shutdown automatically and cannot ON after that. Send for warranty and the problem repeat again after 3 days. In just 2 weeks 2 times send for warranties repair.

  • the sound is very low the volume is already high the item that i ordered is almost 5 months . when i was used to connect to audio with jack sound is very low whats wrong?

  • Failed. Most apps cannot been used. Most game when play there is very low sound even already setting high volume. Failed model

  • This phone overall ok. Only Battery drain fast. Camera low light issues need setup.

  • Hey guy, I played Need for Speed, Asphalt Extreme on this lovely Zenfone 4 Max, it does quite good in comparison with price

  • the version found here has 2 gb ram and 16 gb rom Huawei y7 prime or Asus zenfone 4 max ZC520KL? I'm not a gamer; but I'm scared of zenfone's 2 gb ram and a quad core cpu and also how about zenfone's fast charging and camera???

  • The good design and appearance, CPU+RAM+ROM speed, fingerprint sensor, sensitive brightness-auto adjust, blue light filter make me satisfied

  • for design its okay, but performa isnt good. itsnt recomended for multitasking, for game, its slow.

  • I regret buy this phone. There is no use you got dual camera if many features asus pixel master feature is not enabled in this phone like, low light, nightmode, slow motion, depth of effect and many more. This phone cant support many feature because of hardware limitation. I really regretted buying this phone, make me want to sell my phone now.

  • Does it have a gyro sensor ¿¿

  • antutu score 36586, so far good for mid price phone. I like the dual camera with dslr feature. Though 3gb ram, sometimes make the phone lag when a bit when open multiple app at the same time etc. but for normal user who want to enjoy the camera feature, it is recommended. otherwise buy zenfone 4 max pro which is more expensive

  • Adreno 308 in the end of 2017 :D REALLY :D

  • Just got mine today from Amazon. $159 (with $10 off because of Cyber Monday).

  • The phone is really great with the spec cam battery but the glass of the phone is easy to break, I just have my only for a month and the 1st time it falls even it have a case, the screen is crack already

  • I like Asus zenfone 4 max but i think too many variants zenfone 4 max, Asus likely forget Asus zenfone go with entry level, hope Asus zenfone go 2017 be rival Samsung J2 2017 and hope Zenfone go than better specs of Samsung J2.

  • A rock bottom SOC for €270? Asus sure is confident with its pricing.

  • Go for Len0vo K8

  • i think it is good phone, have long battery and good price

  • Can anyone tell me what would be the difference between sd430 and sd610 or 630 etc

  • old common design. no one's gonna buy this.

  • SD425 for this price?? This is insane..hahahaha.. better buy redmi 4A for a lot cheaper price.

  • Does the chipset even support dual camera. Good job Asus for another year another failure to get the market share.

  • wait for Global version of zenfone 4 max model 5.5 inch screen 1080x1920 pixels and 16mp front camera.. 16mp+5mp dual back camera octa core Snapdragon 430 processor... Dedicated memory slot + 5000 ma

  • For that price? Lol, no

  • OLD CPU OLD GPU nothing here is worth over 200. For its specs and price it should cost up to 150.

  • Agreed. This phone is basically redmi 4x, but 100e more expensive and a little bigger screen, and bigger screen is not a good thing...

  • Redmi 4x is the best !

  • old chipset

  • No fast charging (again) ? Asus never learn, this isn't worth €190 lol
