  • how to setup for wm 6 or higher at this phone?

  • you just turn on he back light, press start, then go to settings, then choose the toolbar - system, then choose backlight and do necessary adjustments.

  • Setting -> System -> Backlight -> Brightness But sometime it goes back to zero again, easy to fix but it's a problem of this phone.

  • Return it - get your money back before its to late buy a nokia e71 they work.

  • I bought this model in Cancun Mexico. Owned 5 months still unable to use.The main dealer in Mexico City second time around $70usd later its a small p.c. and not a phone this is why the battery goes flat after 3 hours even if i don't switch it on. Don't buy. now own a nokia e71 works perfectly.

  • i bought one of these in cancun mexico. owned it for 5 months still haven't used it. the official dealer in mexico city second time around informs me its not ddesigned as a phone but a small p.c. this is why the battery goes flat after 3 hours even if i don't turn it on. don't buy - now own a nokia e71 it works

  • hi r u interest about buying one like this? I am sellin mine watch out:

  • Hello! in fact I am selling the mine, visit my website plz! I could ship it worldwide

  • I live in the Phils too, and there are a lot of quality phones out there at a fraction of the cost. Be honest, you want this one to have some sort of "status". We both know that you can buy a decent phone for P1500 - stop begging, it makes you look bad.

  • it is a nice phone. i want to buy one.please let me know how to get it.

  • dude, there are lots of inexpensive phones at malls. begging is not the only option for you to get one. ;-)

  • i really want this phone! unfortunately i don't have enough money to buy myself a phone. life's pretty tough here in philippines, everyday all our earnings go to food, electricity, water and school. none left for anything else. but i'm going to college and will be away from my family so i badly need a phone. my parents want one for me too, they want me to keep in touch, but we really can't afford it. our priority is to get me and my brother to school. if we buy anything beyond our means we won't be able to go to school. or we won't eat. i know, it's awful. but reading your comments on this phone, it seems you are not enjoying it. if you plan to replace it with a new one and just leave it unused, i'd be more than willing to have it or if you have any extra phone you don't use or you have a phone with minor glitches but still works fine and you don't use it, i'd be happy and forever grateful if you give it to me. please help. email me here- [email protected] please help. this is not a spam or a hoax. that email is mine and i would like you to contact me there if you would like to help. please.

  • battery life is not the issue here.. its a user issue.. remember that this is a windows mobile phone and its powering a lot of applications..

  • Dıd you able to solve the problem? I have the same problem with my P50. It corrupted while trying to update. Keyboard lights and green amber lights are on but nothing happens when u connect it to a pc, and the screen is always dark. Any opinions to recover it?

  • my p50 corrupted while trying to update it's firmware. "Keyboard lights" and "green- amber" leds are always on, but the device doesn't turn on. The screen is always dark. Moreover, when I plug in usb cable PC can't find it. No service is available in the city i live. Any suggestions to solve the problem?

  • Yes, exactly the same thing happens to my phone since the very first day. Gotta retsart the phone every half an hour of use and re-aligne the touchscreen at least 5 times a day. The most unreliable phone I've ever used. Slow on speed. Also this phone has a common Siemens problem, battery is good on standby but discharge very quick on using. Voice speaker are very very low. Doesn't have a keylock switch. Come with 2 batteries and 2 styluses.

  • Does anyone have problems with the headset came along with the phone (the one with a connected line)? I've lost my bluetooth headset so I tried to use that headset. I plugged it in, trying to make a phone call, listen to music... But it doesn't work. I just can't hear anything.

  • benq is good but the battery is not good its stay over one day with out connected the charger. is very difficult to find the battery to replaced the old old. no stocks available in the philippines

  • this phone really really sucks... it's has great features but suddenly it stops receiveng calls and messages. Every once in a while i have to check if it's working. It does some very strange stuff. GPS does not work

  • loool no post here for long time (since 2007) lol

  • it does have keypad backlight and does notcome with any GPS software at least mine.

  • its Feature-less !

  • does the phone keypad actually have a backlight?and if so how the heck do you turn it on.......

  • Could anyone tell me wether there is a preinstalled navigation software on the P51? Thanks!

  • why would anyone leave the other PDAs to buy this crap

  • You want GPS, Wifi, QWERTY keyboard, big screen and bluetooth all in one phone? This is it!

  • i cannot receive internet sms alert thru my P51. Does anyone's having the same problem or known how to do some setting?

  • I just bought BenQ P52 in Thailand with about 300US$. The problems is hardkey input system. I must push the shiftkey or functionkey with other keys at the same time. It means I must use 2 fingers or 2 hands. BenQ P51 is not for single hand single finger use, is for 2 finger use. I dissapointed very much. I want to know I can change the input system or not with registry change or other methods. Please somebodies rescue me. If BenQ's input system is such like, it is better not to buy it. It is better to buy PDAs with long wided keyboard. Shogo in Bangkok

  • just bought the phone in sg. personally this is a great pocket pc phone. it has all the features and as many of you had stated the cons, all i can say is that we cant have best of both world. thanks

  • I purchased the P51 in Toronto off of Ebay for $660CAD I can't think of another phone that I'd rather have consdering my requirements are: 320x230 screen, WM5.0 or higher, keyboard always accessable, sd slot, gps, wifi. PROS: -Always accessable keyboard, unlike that of the HTC's -GPS and 802.11g wifi built in. Most PDA phones only have one of the two. -you can use SD cards. Most phones use micro on mini-sd. -320x240 screen. All other candybar style WM5 phones with accessible keyboard have a square screen which limits pocket pc application capability. -WM5.0 built in -Rare, no one has it so people will always ask you about your phone CONS: -camera is not great. I just upgraded from a P50 to P51, the camera is the same in both. -battery life is so-so, however a big improvement over the P50 -there will probably never be a WM6.0 rom With all of these factors considered, if your requirements are similar to mine. This is the ONLY phone for you. Happy shopping, and good luck finding this phone. I even had my friends in Shanghai and Bangkok looking for me and they couldn't find it.

  • This phone seems to have much potential despite other's opinions. Does anyone have this phone in the US?

  • Hello guys... Now i'm using BenQ P50 as my primary device. P50 overall is a very good device. Pros : 1.Very Sturdy Casing & Excellent Build Quality 2.Very Useful QWERTY (much better than OnScreen Keyboard, and it illuminate too) 3.Good Performance Processor (Intel PXA 27x @416MHz, u can OC to 520MHz easily and it can play Hi-res HQ DivX very smooth) 4.Full Size SD/MMC slot 5.Flash can be used as a lamp. 6.Universal Remocon (the IrDa port on the top of device, very useful program) 7.Very Cheap (I bought used P50 about US$200) Cons : 1.Very Poor Camera (The indoor image is very dark, the flash is totally useless) 2.Very Very Short Battery Life (Approx 6 hours on normal usage or 1 day on standby) 3.U can't turn on The phone and WiFi if battery below 50% (if u can, it will goto Flight Mode after 30secs) 4.Joystick is robush. (mine cant move up and left) 5.Problem with Screen Alignment (You should align the screen most the time) 6.The Bluetooth speed is very slow (takes bout 10 mins to transfer 4MB file) 7.Buttons can be soil easily (except for the QWERTY keyboard) I have update my BenQ P50 to the lastest firmware avaiable in the internet. It really improve the system. It was much worse with the old firmware. The new firmware is 1.12 EN. If you want to buy a PPC, i suggest you to buy another brand (HTC is good). I plan to replace my P50, 1 of PPC below will be my choice : 1.Dopod P800w / HTC P3300 / XDA Orbit 2.Dopod D810 / HTC P3600 3.Eten X500+ 4.Eten X800 well, see you guys......

  • Does anybody know the current price of this phone and also some people say that it is out of production, is it true?I would really appreciate a reply. Thanks in advance.

  • What is the gps chipset? And also in the benq site it says 64 mb ram but in the internet all the sites says 128mb ram?

  • Please make this time a real phone!

  • Does any one have copy or update of the Win Mobile 5.0 OS for P51 - I need it badly, plz.

  • no universal remocon?too bad! i love changing TV channels on public places!

  • Honestly! I think the executives at these tech sort of companies discuss their private matters in meetings i mean what is the purpose of a p51 to release. it is only a silver p50 and no new feature at all

  • can someone plz tell me how to get its software updated.I cannot find a dealer and the blue tooth is also not coming on.

  • Just to reply to some of your questions (I have first hand info from BenQ): - Is a full featured Pocket PC device, not a simple smartphone, - Does not have IrDA, - Will come only in silver (from BenQ), - Battery performance is much better than P50, about 3 days with a very hard ussage, - It is not being sold in Mexico yet; it will be by March/07, - BenQ will keep moving in Mexico, - GPS module is builted in, - Project is not cancelled, will be sold in selected markets (I know some ecommerce enterprices will sell it), - In Mexico, a GPS software will not be included; but there are some available for the country: Mapalocalizador (http://www.mapalocalizador.com.mx/) or Destinator6.

  • @ Edwin Villarreal: I read that it has IR... Here: If you want to find other similar phones, use advanced search this site; I've found about 9...

  • @ Edwin Villarreal The CPU is: Intel PXA 272 416MHz

  • Hi Memo, the upcoming E-TEN Glofiish M700 has "all" of what you need, i.e., Glofiish M700 has 2Mp camera with flash, 2.8 inch touchscreen, bigger slideout QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi b/g, WM5, and built-in SiRF Star III GPS receiver plus quad band GSM, EDGE, bluetooth, FM radio with audio jack, and miniusb.

  • Hello there. Actually I am Using the P50, wich has lower RAM, so P51 will work better. But I cant find what processor this P51 has. If anyone knows please post it. In the other hand, no IR port make me sad. I like to change channels on restaurant tvs :( ehehe Well, still no EDGE or 3G, but it has 802.11g wich makes it faster on WiFi Connections. If there is around a better phone plaese post it here :) Regads Edwin Villarreal CHIPOLY

  • there are only a few pda/phones with de bs p51 caracteristics: HP 6910, and the glofiish m700 (from eten). Rigth now, the glofiish x500 seem to be the best one,(does not have the keyboard) comparable to asus p535, but the last one doesn't have EDGE technology

  • Is this the only phone in market with Camera, Touch screen, QWERTY Keyboard, Wi-Fi, Windows Mobile and GPS?? I need a device with this features, thanks.

  • i saw this phone in black version, and the general look really pleased me because it has a very clean design, but the lack of good features for a smartphone and the battery life kill this specific model. i would buy one if the battery could last longer.

  • I don't advice anyone buying this. Poor battery..you have to have your charger with you all the time even on moon. Many people asked Benq to solve this issue, but nobody is listening..Their after sales support is lousy.

  • Good device, just no EDGE and poor battery. I hope it can be replaced with 1.800.

  • Today I found P51 accessible on one of czech web pages - they announced to have 2 pcs on stock. On monday I will verify, and probably order one of them:-)). The price was less than 14.000 Kc (about 450EUR)

  • Hi to all, I'm from Mexico and I'm aware that Telcel is offering this phone now. From my point of view, the main advantage of Benq against Treo is that this model runs Window Mobile. If anyone knows about further advantages, please let me know. Regards,

  • Im from mexico i was looking to buy this in Europe but since it was left and Benq-siemens broke im very sad, this was a really powerful phone evenmore than HTC, mio or O2 Phones they have Mini or Micro SD and this uses SD which enables me to use a 8gb Pretec SD card since WM5 supports it...if you are telling that Telcel is going to bring it to mexico plz plz send me a mail a message something...!! i wanna buy it!! i plan to buy this phone a SDIO TV card and make it really powerful!!!

  • I have a friend working in BenQ Mexico; he is using a P51 and testing it, looking forward to sell it with Telcel in Mexico. He told me they are planning to start shipping it by 2007, fisrt quarter. The project is not dead, just in selected markets BenQ -as Mexico (with Telcel, of course [6th. mobile phine carrier wwide and Business Week no. 1 tech. company)- is allocating new product.

  • I thins for an reason for why Benq -Siemens don't release this phone: its a modernisation of P50 Benq phone (made before Siemens) and now has made canibalism with an another Siemens device; it's only the marketing problem, not techniqual all sourced of combined diveces (from mboth Sms & Bq) works well with the old brands

  • i dont think this phone will come soon the gps device in it doesnt work at all

  • BS must have tons of problems with this one, otherwise why would it be 6 months late? that kind of a delay makes you think again.

  • Has waited so long for this phone.. why it still not release in the market yet? got design problem? License problem? or else? Anyone has get this phone in SE Asia?

  • Benq-siemens new range is good. But they are late in releasing phones. and latley they are also late in innovations.

  • Great features in this... but it looks like a calculator! haaah

  • BenQ, if you are listening, please please release the P51 in Australia. It is the ideal phone feature-wise. QVGA, mini-keyboard, GPS, SDIO, WM5, and more. I love this phone. Please also continue on developing this phone. Put in 3G/UMTS/HSDPA support if there will be P52 in future.

  • Well, I have personally decided to just stay with using two devices until the next gen of PPC Phones come around, so im getting the LOOX N560 PPC and havent decided what cell phone yet. BUT, if i were going to buy a PPC Phone.. i would be considering the ETEN g500+ or m600+

  • What does anybody think of the AnexTEK SP310? Sure looks shweet to me.

  • Check out HTC P3300 and Gigabyte g-Smart i300. Similar specs, smaller and lighter, but 64 MB instead of 128 MB RAM.

  • NNNOOOOOOoooooo!!!!!!!! Ok. What's the next best thing? Treo 750? BenQ p50?

  • They cancelled the project, this is the link for that article:

  • Dammit... this phone was so fine... It looks like I have to concider HTC P3300 with no QWERTY keyboard :/

  • I'm afraid it doesn't look very well...:-(( This model was definitelly cancelled.

  • i think P51 can be succesful. There are many phones like this, but much more expensive. P51 meets all my needs for good money. there is comming soon 11/06 o the benq webpage ( czech republic ) so i hope thats right :)

  • Well I always thought that benq-siemens.com is the main BS page and it states clearly:

  • Its a bit confusing. P51 disappeared from BS web page, but only for some countries (Germany, Britain, Belgium etc). When you switch to other countries (France, Czech, Greece, Swiss), there is still 11/2006 or 12/2006. ????

  • I think they cancelled it because other brands has already made something more advance. So it's better to cancel it than nobody gonna buy this thing. I'm almost sure BS will release a better feature for this form, may be they'll name it P52 or else, with HSDPA (please relase 1.900 also not just 2.100 MHz), 2nd camera for video call and better battery life (i hope 1.800 mAh just like the old-time Treo). Go for it BS ;)

  • Bull sh*t... P51 got new page on benq-siemens.com and the site does not state 'comming soon' any more. If it was cancelled it wouldn't appeare at all.

  • Benq P51 has been cancelled and it will be never released. ___________________ www.pdadb.net

  • I wonder what will happen to the P51 now that BenQ is closing down the division. It will be such a pitty if the phone is canceled so close to its launch. :(

  • I've been a bit jealous with CDMA customers, they've got a much much faster data transfer and internet than we, GSM guys. After travel to US and using CDMA technology, my impression is just "WOOOOOWWWWWWWW"! It's like broadband speed! In my country, CDMA is still outnumber with GSM, but it doesn't mean in near future, CDMA users will never pass GSM, since CDMA technology is much more advance. To be honest, i'm a great fans of Siemens, that's the reason i have not move my phone network to CDMA since siemens never release CDMA phones. I hope BS release this P51 for CDMA version so i can switch my phone to CDMA, with a better a battery life offcourse (350 h ST and 6 h TT). I don't mind if it's a bit heavier ;)

  • Why? Aren't there any BenQ centers in your area? Where are you from and where did you buy your P50? What problem did you have? Don't just say "dont buy" without any supporting details.

  • DONT BUY A BENQ!!! The got the worst customer support ever! I ve the p50. nice phone, but they will not help you out anytime! DO NOT BUY BENQ PHONES. LISTEN TO ME...

  • Same in my country (Greece), Nov. 2006 :( Hope this does not change, else BS will be far behind the others.

  • The great specificaions, I was looking for such a model for a long time. GSM, GPS, WiFi, Qwerty keyboard, simple camera, WM 5.0 with office programs. The lack of EDGE and UMTS is not disadvantage for me, it is expensive when travalling to other countries and use different operators. Than there is lot of free WiFi access points around Europe suitable for ICQ and SKYPE. I found only few products with similar specifications, but for much higher price (FS Loox T830, HP iPAQ hw6915, Qtek Dataphone 9100 and HTC P3300). I only hope, that the release date will not be changed again. In my country it is now november 2006.

  • Maybe they'd lower the price of the P51 even more considering the competition are all 3G.

  • Anyone already had this P51 in hand?

  • @Hasso P50 runs with Windows Mobile 2003. It had to be this one.

  • i've seen it here in Egypt sold for around 600$, i even held it for a while, it's slim and look great, but still, i've found out that it runs with windows mobile 2003 SE not wm5.

  • it will be available in mid-end November

  • @Jc Noone knows... At Benq forum some say october, others november. Preorders are available so it's got to be soon. Problem is that even at Benq forum Benq itself does not say anything...

  • Don't wait for this thing, guys. It will be cancelled soon, just go for Treo 750v.

  • I own Treo 650, but this BengQ-Siemens P51 is the most ideal design in the whole market. I love the built-in antenna and Wi-Fi etc. The screen size is perfect, preferably able to select landscape. I hope the Designers use the established Palm OS or Window OS, and extend the battery life further. The latest ganged-button Qwerty keyboard employ to be the kind like Sony Ericson M600i. This model with slight improvements will surely launch itself to be the next market leader. Well done, I am the first waiting to buy.

  • HTC TyTn: no GPS for that price? Now THAT's a joke...

  • They say it has touchscreen. Does it mean it has this usefull stick thing?

  • C'mon all kind PDA phones will have a poor battery life except Treo though.

  • Wooowwww... the battery life is so sick...;P

  • i like the phone very well . but i dont know how to get it

  • Up to a few days ago Benq-Siemens site stated coming soon 11/2006 :-(

  • Well, I have been looking for a versatile device with on-board GPS and a large enough display for quite some time. I have even made an Excel comparison chart with all the contenders. The P51 seems to me the only one with some *very* important (IMO) points: large display (2.83") with 240x320 resolution in a smallish form factor, GPS, 128 MB RAM (very important for Windows, double the size of the rest), WLAN 802.11g (also very important for me) and attractive price. Lack of advanced 3G Data (HSDPA) is irrelevant, since such connectivity is *very* expensive and with quite limited availability. Windows Mobile 5, although bad as far as stability is concerned, has a lot of features and the most free and commercial software, especially in updated GPS packages.

  • Delay, out of date specs... what more can I say about siemens. Yes, they never change. Man, this thing look like a joke compare to HTC TyTn.

  • I can say that easily, because of the 'Windows' factor in this device and that Benq doesn't understand a launch schedule- July 2006!? I took the plunge and the Nokia E70 is an amazing machine! The only advantage (yes, I would have loved additional on-board memory) to the Benq P51 was the added GPS chip... But with windows... there's little guarentee that it would have functioned properly anyway! Read my full Nokia E70 review under the E70 comments (to be posted by Friday of this week.... Stay tooned....

  • Exactly I hate to wait this P51's launching becuse Benq-Siemens as a big company has no commitment with their time schedule. They said they would launch soon July 2006. But now it's August 2006. How can it be??

  • Oh come on JohnC... How do you want to compare these two cells? Considering visual aspects no comparison at all! Personaly I think they are being priveded for different customers. Cheers!

  • While this WAS my number one choice... I am getting the Nokia E70 with wifi and Symbian, rather than this one powered by faulty Windows. Here was my criteria in searching for my new smartphone: - At least 75 MB on board memory (more, like the P51, rated higher in my search / decision matrix) - WIFI was a must... I travel so much and my partner takes the laptop and I am left sitting on the bench (or in the car, cafe, etc- you would be amazed how often you can find an open WIFI network and just sit down on the street to use the Internet!) - Smartphone category phone - Camera, otherwise what is the purpose of MMS! - but I did consider the E61... but compared to the E70, it's too blackberry looking and lower resolution display (as compared to the E70's outstanding display... and it has a camera) - Card Slot... some models do pack a lot of memory in the phone.. one model had 145 MB on board, but no card slot for more making it too little memory) - Bluetooth (and not just for headsets... must connect, transfer file etc...) - Vibration (can't believe some smartphones don't have it) - REAL WWW, not just partial web browsing.. ability to use multiple browsers... sometimes, the much faster (and easier on system memory) Opera is plenty, but sometimes I want the REAL webpage as it is on my computer - Touchscreen or keyboard a MUST. Well I did compromise, as my last 2 phones, Motorola A780 & Sony P900 both had touchscreens and the Nokia E70 does not, BUT, it does have a full spacious keyboard and joystick mouse... And that's about it for my new phone search criteria... Sure, I'm looking for SMS,. MMS, Mail client, music and video player, etc, but that stuff will be there if my other criteria is met too. About the Windows... While I admit I hate Windows (I own both an XP computer and 3 Macs), but I do work "daily".. :-( on a PC... compared to Mac, it is a nightmare. That being said, I was willing (due to the BenQ fantastic specs and GPS!) to take the plunge- Hey, maybe Bill Gates got something right? (beside very effectively creating a monopoly of mediocrity) After all, they had to write a new OS for phones, so with all of their experience and all of our money, they could get it right.. right? You (who post online) convinced be that every Windows mobile device is plagued with excessive freezes and restarts (though all smartphones attempting to do so much, in such a small package of eagerness, fall victim to occasional freezes and restarts). SO, tomorrow, my dealer in Chinatown, New York City is getting the English version for me at an unbelievable price! Follow my report on features on the Nokia E70 comments page (including the low price paid, once I take possession). Thanks GSM Arena & everyone! btw, my Chinatown dealer was the person who turned me on to GSM Arena!

  • graet!

  • It's already available in Expansys Spain.

  • I really hope it will be available soon so i can buy this beauty and not SE m600

  • Well, what would you expect? In other words, what features didnt they include that you feel would have made it worth it? Personally, I think its great. I think there are enough features on it to be a really nice ppc phone. No need to add more if it already has what you need. Now granted, they could have 3G etc.. but i live in the US and as i said before.. its not a big deal since its not so widely available here yet. But I'm curious what you think would have made it worth it to you.

  • Gosh. There isnt much improvement made on P51 since P50 was out. What waste of time. Yet perphaps WM5 is practible on P50? P5- models are just overtly powerful and WM5 should be accessible for possible upgrades.

  • I haven't read anywhere, yet, about which software will be available at the point of sale, but I have read that it will be an optional purchase. Meaning its not sold with the GPS software preinstalled. This is what I have gathered. So you could just buy it without the software and then get which ever one you wanted instead of buying the one they have available in addition. Unless of course, they have it at a better price with the package.

  • Does anyone know what kind of GPS software comes with the P51?

  • I had a LOOX 720 PPC and i loved it. And like most 720 users i couldnt wait for a phone edition to release. So for the last 6 months or so i have really narrowed my next PPC Phone Edition down to the LOOX T830 or the P51. I was really looking forward to the T830 but as time passed i really began to like the P51. Its slightly smaller, quad band instead of tri, larger screen, and of course we cant look over the 128 rather than LOOX's 64. Other than not having 3G i cant say there is anything better in the T830 that's worth an arguement. And seeing that i live in the US where there is no 3G available yet... i could n't care less. And yeah, maybe in a couple years it will become widely available by then but who doesn't look for an upgrade after 2 or 3 yrs anyway. I have to say if you live in the US... this is it folks.

  • the other problem with the treo that this wont have is that the treo has a square screen and that causes alot of programs not to work

  • @DonAndress I'd also say that as it uses WM5, and WM5 allows sharing of GPS access data, it in theory could allow for the use of more than one GPS software at the same time for, say, one program keeping the log of your travel, another to capture some photos with place info, and another to play music by the region you're in. Of course it needs to get better processor. :)

  • @DonAdress It must be a Pocket PC flavored WinMobile5, just because the Smartphone version cannot support touchscreen (interactive screen), as said in this link: The thing I really would like to know is about the power usage in this difference, as said in this article at MS: For more information about Windows Mobile, I suggest the following links: and

  • @fadz -- yep. Was just responding to the comments on this being big and heavy. @donandress -- I have been under the impression that WM5 is a single replacement for both Windows Mobile 2003 for PocketPC (pretty close, but with some upgrades) and Windows Mobile 2003 for smartphones (which, other than the name, wasn't that similar to the one for PocketPC). So if something worked on the PocketPC, I'm fairly sure it'd work on WM5 ... if it worked for smartphone, I'd be a bit more hesitant to say it'd work ...

  • @ReV Problem is whether I can install any decent GPS software. It's been told to me that "I-go" is one of the best but runs only on Pocket PC and doesn't on Smartphone version. Is WM 5 compatilbe?

  • It's a Windows Mobile 5. Imho, the difference for smartphones or pocket pcs was more important in the previous OS (2003), afaik.

  • to Chris: the big difference between this phone and treo 700 is the gsm network coverage. this phone is a quad band phone, and it can be used all over the universe. the treo 700 has limited gsm coverage.

  • Hi! Anyone knows whether it has Windows for Smartphones or Windows for Pocket PC? Thanks and regards

  • On the Benq-Siemens it says that this phone is coming soon 07/2006. Well, we already are at 07/2006. When will it be ready really? Will this just be another vapourware like the p50?

  • Many things need to improve for the next P class.. It should be a Quad band and 3G phone with HSDPA (we're talking about business device here so data speed is a major concern). Improve the battery life (It's tragic a business phone with a 7-years old talk time and a farmer standby time). Add EDGE too, because when we go abroad, there are many countries still don't support 3G services. And get rid off that Camera, we don't need that stuff (we can buy our own camera with 10 MP in the market and).

  • Grant -- it is 3 mm longer, 9 mm less wide, and 3 mm thicker than a Treo 700. So it is really just visually decieving. And as far as weight goes, it is basically 1/3 of an ounce heavier than a Treo 700. I guess what I am saying is -- if you think a Treo is okay, this is not significantly different, so this should be okay as well. If you think a Treo is too big and bulky, well, then you are probably going to think this is too big and bulky.

  • Why does this phone, with such great specifications, has so low voting results? Is that an error in gsmarena? What are the problems people are seeing to vote like this?

  • Yeah looks same as BenQ P50 but maybe with a larger memory size and maybe with a more modern microsoft windows OS - and could come with an upgraded firmware too.

  • GSMarena please can we see a picture of the backside of the phone? does the cam have a lens cover? is this an aluminium casing?

  • This phone looks great but it also looks too long and too heavy - how I wish its a 3G with HSCSD or EDGE with NO CAMERA- it would have made the best phone in its bracket by the time of release

  • Is that confirmed, or is that a guess since that's also what the P50 uses?

  • It's use Intel PXA272 416 MHz processor.

  • hi what about its processor plz tellme bye

  • This is the first phone I've seen with wi-fi, gps(user accessible), sdio, and a full size screen. I want.

  • I think the designe of P30 is much nice. Its in black, and it looks more pro as the P51 it so so as design. I was waiting for the P51 as it has Windows 2005. but as it is I am not sure I will buy it, and its a shame!!

  • Actually i am impressed with BENQ-siemens P51.Infact i love the phone iam just been abused by money i would have subscribe to get my self one,Actually i was just brousing on phones when i came in contact with this beutiful phone.GOD willing in as much as we still remain in contact, in as much as we still live in this world i must buy this product. Actually this is my first day of seeing this phone on net and i will like to have it before my friends see it so that they could also subscribe for it. infact i have even made copy of it printed so that i can take a look at it at any given time.nice phone, may you have the power to do more better phone than this. But another thing is .... i dont know if the phone is a camera phone i will like you to tell me more about it.

  • Coz its BenQ P50 wiht some modification. All BenQ-Siemens phones released so far were under development when BenQ took over. C81, EL71, CF61, EF81 and S68 are siemens desings. CL71, P51, E61, EF91, S81, EF51, S88 are BenQ designs. Siemens use their typical "Call" button iconcs and for "space" key, Siemens uses "1" and BenQ uses "0".BenQ models comes with its ugly Red-Orange interface too. Check for yourself.

  • Its not a Siemens phone. Its BenQ, released under BenQ-Siemens brand.

  • What's CPU of p51? if compared with MIO A701 which would be better performance ? Wlan features is really good for me.

  • Another Benq vapourware? ;-/

  • I'm a Siemens fan, now I'm using SX1 which I think it is very stable and funky. I like P51 very much and I hope that it will have all the functions of Siemens phone series. COULD ANYONE TELL ME HOW MUCH THE P51 WILL COST?

  • Yes its copy of the BenQ P50. The reason being is that both Benq & Siemens will launch their earlier phones with a few minor corrections & upgrades alongwith the New phones the 2 companies are developing together. Also they have signed up Ronaldo to endorse the EF81 as most of you might know!

  • p50 sometime crash and lag,p51?

  • This site need to add a new manufacturer. It's Fujitsu Siemens.

  • p51 support edge

  • copy paste of BenQ P50.

  • I just can't understand why they can't make it 3G or EDGE. GPRS(32 - 48 kbps)-->I don't think so. Everything else is prfect.

  • pal... try enable night mode n change brightness to max wif p50... i can capture my own hand wif no other light source in dark room...

  • Is there any improvement for the flash of P51.coz I have P50..but the flash is not bright enough eventhough at night(still dark)..pls help me..

  • 1 thing i can describe to this phone "COPY CAT"

  • its an ok phone plus if it gets more publicity i think it will sell pretty well.Im still baffeld about1 thing though...where are the numbers? ovrall i think its a nice phone apart from the size calvin

  • missing umts.

  • this fones amazing all i need to know now how much and wen its cumin out anyone nows tell me pls

  • BenQ bought Siemens mobile from Siemens

  • dear kosi where have you been??? BenQ has taken over Siemens mobile business since mid 05!

  • I just want 2 no why is it called BEN-Q why not just siemens...did someone buy them!? Reminds me of the pal treo

  • It sounds really great to have GPS receiver in a mobile phone. Thanks to BenQ. I would like to know the expected market price.

  • Yeah sure.. Fujitsu Siemens looks promising.. But for device such as PDA phone, will it be as good as Siemens in communication device? Or worst?

  • An upgrade version for my BenQ P50: 64MB ROM & RAM to 128MB... GPS added... Wifi upgraded... OS upgraded... Battery improved 130mAh... Standby time up 30h... Overall it's better than my BenQ P50... But I already plan to buy a new PDA phone... Fujitsu-Siemens T800: This is the full feature phone i had ever seen... It got wat this phone offer plus 3G... SE P990 just lose it without GPS, Symbian OS and memory stick... Can't wait until July to buy this phone...

  • JuanPablo, This phone is not for growing up boys who like to have 256k color in their phones. This smart phone is for me who would want to have a mobile phone, business tool and a navigation gadget in just one handheld device. If you like your P990, enjoy it at grow up with it. Don'r be like a little boy crying out loud because you there's somebody who got a bigger chocolate than you.

  • Great look but still 2 big & 2 heavy

  • It's not 3g - UMTS, whats the point of this PDA style handset?

  • 170 g? It's too heavy! Camera sucks, and I don't like the design. The scree have only 65k colors :( If u want the BEST smartphone... get the SE P990.

  • This looks like quite a remarkable phone. I believe that BenQ-Siemens are going to have quite a successful partnership just like Sony Ericsson. Wish them good luck.

  • That is a real nice phone with real good options, but if the up the camera to 2mp or even 3.2mp then this phone will be the best in the market... don't everyone think so ?

  • Omg.. BenQ just add arounf 100 mAh form p50? well, okey OS is windows 5.0 now.. overall i think's it's good..

  • Everything is nice but the battery life is dissapointing

  • very nice phone!!! GPS reciever, clear big screen, wifi, nice battery, hope its gonna be ok, i think benq-siemens is gonna be a very successfull company! nice designs with great features, like its finally making phones which people actually want!

  • very nice...GPS

  • one word..Perfect phone !
