  • Love my Honor 5x. Recent battery charging issues. Worst system to replace. But need to open up to find out what kind of battery to buy. When purchasing, this issue should be addressed and repair kit offered.

  • Battery degradation => voltage drops => poor performances and lags. There's not many other reasons a good working phone would "suddenly" lag. People often think their phone is aging but in most cases it's the battery really. That's sad cause we shouldn't buy so much resources hungry phones

  • i have been using this phone since Feb 2016. This is the best segment for average use. Snapdragon 616v2 gives decent performance. No lags no other issues. the product is promising. For the spying issue, each and every os/ apps keeping our data. Dont use any internet services to be safe and secure.

  • I have been using GR5 (Honor 5x) for more than 2 years. The phone is basically ok. However, it has some weird activities, supportive of the allegations that the Huawei phones are spying the world, and transmits data to China. There are times that I am not using any application needing internet data, however I see the phone getting into unauthorized data usage and data transaction using my data connections, especially when I am connected to wi-fi. Sometimes reaching up to 500k/sec. No matter how I try, I cannot figure out which of my application is using that amount of data. Even after I terminate some apps that use data, the rate of data transaction simply does not go down. Is it not weird??

  • I have this phone. Huawei GR5/HONOR 5X. I buy february 2019 @90 USD new in the box. Now i use marshmellow software B310. Run smooth.better than lollipop.no lag.no hang. I got 53.000 antutu score. Not bad. With lolipop i got 49.000 antuntu benchmark. If you use this phone. Lets update,and dont forget to factory reset after update.

  • I have had (recently broke it out of rage, because of how laggy it was) it 1.5 years and it was one of the most excruciating years I have ever had. I paid 250 euros for this crap. Even the loading screen was lagging. I thought the lag might've come from the full storage, but after doing a full factory reset, it worked the same. So overall: too laggy, wouldn't recommend, for the price you could find phones twice, if not thrice, as good.

  • I've been using this phone for a couple of years now and had have a very good experience so far, It's not the top of the top when it comes to data processing, not recommended for gaming, however for any other activity it does the job, now I'm thinking to get a P line of haweii, but still my currently phone is working and I'm surprised that has not broke after all the falls over hard pave surfaces..   • Yes, amazing phone then 2 years later it is slowing down so much even after a factory reset. Very slow and hanging. Cannot even update it is only software as it keeps downloading and the fail on the installation.

  • i got this phone 2 years ago, was very good at the beginning, but now, it's being very slow, keeps hanging. tried to restore factory settings. got better for 2 days then same issue of slowness. my wife has Samsung J7 which is almost the same price and specs of GR5, but her phone still running like new. most of the times when my phone hangs she hands me her J7.

  • I have this phone Honor 5X for almost 2 years now , and my main issue of this phone is lagging which is happening when you open an application on a needed time, even to dialing or to find contacts. Camera is good. Also it is heating most of the time when using this phone. The rest about this phone is good. I still love this phone in fact i use this raggedly because of the nature of my work and it is open 24 hours. I drop it so many times but it still working.

  • Build quality 7 camera and battery life are good. Two SIMS can be inserted at the same time without sacrificing the SD card. Main problem is speed. The phone hangs sometimes when just opening the camera or other apps for no real reason. I probably would not buy this again.

  • Hi, I have 3 Honor 5x phones in my house. One of them has got the B370 and B381 updates OTA, the other two phones don't get any update OTA after B360. I know the new updates have newer security patches so I really wanted to have them on the other two phones as well. I don't know whats going on and I can't really understand why those two phones won't see the updates. I can spot one difference between the phones, the phone that got the update has custom version CUSTC675D003, the other two phones have custom version CUSTC675D002. Infact one of the phones with custom ver 002 has been just purchased but shows no update after B360. I spoke to the customer care guys via online chat and they said that the new phone will see the update after 15 - 20 days of updating to B360 which I highly doubt. Regarding the old phone that does not get the update, they said they will forward the complaint to tech support and they will fix the issue. It's been 7 - 8 days and the two phones still have no notifications for the new update. Request someone to please throw some light on the issue....

  • I used this phone for almost a year and while it had good build quality, Huawei didn't optimize the resources on this device. Note that there are two variants, one with 3GB RAM and 2 GB RAM. I owned the 2GB version. Some issues include; 1. The battery life was not that great but ok. 2. The most annoying aspect was the lags and hanging. Some apps were choppy. I was left wondering whether the SD Chip 616 and adreno 405 are incapable of handling issues. I current have a device with similar specs running on SD 430 and it is way ahead of this device. 3. Updates - this is perhaps the greatest disappointment from huawei. This device could probably perform better with Android N but huawei won't upgrade it. So you are stuck with Android M! I loved the device aesthetics but unfortunately it wasn't a performer in the software department. Note this especially if you plan on running alot of apps for business. If you just want a device for calling and sms, it might be ok for you. For the price point, we expected better.

  • The worst phone I got in my entire life. The network is very weak. To many troubles to get connected with 4G. I will change it as soon as possible. I can't compare it to LG phones or any other.

  • Huawei (HiHonor) has not honored their commitment of 2 years of updates stopping at Marshmallow. They have no plans to upgrade this phone to nougat at least in the USA. Requests to HiHonor for info on the subject are responded with by telling us how valuable we are as customers and with links to their Facebook which they use primarily to try and sell you other products.

  • equss, this happened to my phone also one month ago. Some people say you can clean the headphone jack with something, but that would not work for me. I had to use the factory reset to make the sound work again. I had used this phone about 3 weeks long..the battery drains fast & the phone hangs a lot...there is no screen protection thus the huawei companies are promoting this phone as uncrackable...i had a bike accident.the phone was on my pocket...after i was discharged from the hospital,i checked the phone is probably fine or not..it disappointed me..the phone's screen,front camera&display are damaged..i don't have any other options..the repairing will cost 4k...I can't afford this much for this phone because the phone is only worth 10k....so don't go for this phone...the gaming performance, camera,quality screen,software performance & don't hang up phones are out there at this same price...

  • It's been a year I've been using this phone, specifically KIW-L21 model, for starting 2-3 months, the phone worked fine and performed average but after then it started lagging a lot till the 11th month and it was that peak point where I thought I should just give up this phone and get an old iPhone, basically I was dissatisfied with Android, but before taking that decision, I tried an experiment on my phone and thus installed LineageOS 14.1 based on Android 7.1.2, it's been a month now and I've installed 70 apps and 2 movies and few games lag and do not respond but overall the UI is fast and fluent and I'm happy with that. It even supports VR by using the built-in compass and OTG as well, simply I'm loving it.

  • Yes it does, when I updated it, it started freezing and is much slower than before. I also tried to downgrade it, but I failed, it got to I think 25% and stopped, when installed from it's root folder, I haven't yet tried to install old Android from SD card, cause I'm lazy to go and buy it

  • I've been using the 5x for almost a year, and I'm pretty happy with the device. It's not high-end, so don't expect flagship performance. But, for the price it's a pretty decent phone. The camera is good, the metal exterior is attractive. The finger print scanner is, well, convenient, but not much else. I agree the the EMUI interface is awful. So, I just installed Nova Launcher and pretty much have a stock android experience now.

  • Honor 5x is one of the worst phones I ever bought. It hangs every other minute, because of which smooth multitasking is not possible. I feel like throwing this phone away at times. Surfing the net is literally a challenge on this phone. All the apps open delayed. Buying this phone is a good idea if you want to frustrate yourself.

  • for those who have problem. when i got this phone its really hangs every-time and heating problem is always there and its running on marshmallow. and decided to use custom rom cynogen 13 and surprisingly its fast and stable. but for me nothing beat the stock rom. so downgraded it to lollipop 5.1.1 emui 3 and its really fast and hangs and heating is gone and im really satisfied with my phone. may lollipop is the best rom. i think the marshmallow is not optimized or may maybe not fully tested. cos when using marshmallow the phone hangs always and heat to much. dont upgrade to marshmallow. stay to stock rom lollipop. thanks and hope it helps you

  • After one year using this phone, I'm still very happy, never got any issue, running Android 6.01 , 32 GB SD on top on the 16 GB of the phone. Strong base and very well designed at a very low price compared to the competition, one of the best deal of the 1080x1920 pixels' market!

  • hi , i unlocked the bootloader and root the device and open otg reading mode in my phone and it work very well. then i tired of very buggy stock rom and i flash cm14 on it . its work prefect and stable without any lags or and missing, the stock rom is very heavy for the ram .i love the phone . i record hd slowmotion and vga 120 frame/sec in custom rom , it`s lovely

  • Reason for lag etc is most likely EMUI. I dont use it at all. I prefer Google Now UI instead. So far it´s the best phone i have owned. 5X is not for everyone, but for everyday user like me it has plenty features and resources. Good value for my few pennies.

  • Personally saying Xiaomi devices specially smartphone are not for me. I mean the massive heating issues and rare availibity is biggest issue. Added to that the security concern over the Chinese servers collecting data is not good. I am hard-core Samsung can and only choose galaxy devices. Other than that may be I will go for Honor or HTC. May be NEW Nokia will also be an option. But Xiaomi is never been my Favorite.

Actually I have taken a demo on the store for about few minutes and I never expect to see it on a shop. Also I was watched more reviews on 5C and may be I messed up.   • Frnd, I don't think that you used honor 5x. If you used this phone you did not check both sim slot. The first sim slot for Micro sim and the second one you can use nano sim and micro SD card at same time.

  • I have seen a few reviews of 5X and 5C. So, a few days ago I went to one of nearby store to buy another device for myself. I noticed the gorgeous 5X and I picked it for the demo. The device felt premium but not very heavy. Mine was silver and I prefer silver to gold, so it looked really beautiful. I tried the UI, as heavy Samsung TouchWiz user, I felt little confuse for first few minutes. But I grab the UI finally. It worked fast and looked simpler. Overall I really like the device. I also tried the cameras and sound which was very good. I almost bought the device, but I can't because of two reasons. First it does not support VOLTE, so if you want to use JIO SIM fully, than you can't use with it. Second point is it support only hybrid slot, e.g. either 1 Micro + 1 Nano SIMs or 1 Nano + 1 MicroSD card. So, the device has just 16 GB internal memory and I use 2 SIMs. Therefore it is useless for me. Anyway I still like the device very much and may be one day I will own it. Overall I will give 7 out of 10 for this device.

In computer screen u can see all the activities ur doing ur phone through Hisuit. 1. Go to setting 2. Go to Developer option (If Developer option is not there press About phone then repeatedly tap on Build number until Developer option enabled message comes, then back to the settings there u can see Developer option) 3. Go to Developer option, scroll down there u can see USB debugging.

There are plenty to choose from, and I guarantee you'll fall in love with the phone again. I'm currently running a beta build of 7.1.1 (Nougat), and I'm getting over 6 hours of screen-on-time, and the performance is totally different from the stock EMUI. Trust me, you'll be very thankful for doing it.

  • I have KIW-l24C567B331 (Honor 5X) US. Rooted, developer, etc, TWRP. Phone is awesome, it started getting slow, but root access will allow to you turn off power using apps. fingerprint access is the best. almost instant. you can program each finger to do different tasks, such as what screens to bring up and also guest mode which hides alot of apps if you let someone borrow your phone. It will install apps directly to sd card saving internal storage. I have 128 gig sd card, 16 gig internal and all is on sd card, running good. make sure you have a "class 10 or a U3) U3 being the fastest sd card. must be at least a class 10 or problems for you. the other drawback for this phone is no wifi 5 ghz or NFC, but not really needed. This phone is better than HTC one in my opinion. I love this phone I have marshmallow 6 and rooted. just go to their web and get bootloader unlocker to unlock it and install Twrp. and install super user and you are rooted. very simple, there is video on youtube for you. search easiest way to root honor 5x. I...Love...This....Phone. the silver back makes is really cool, you can buy a google glass bullet proof shield for the front and the back is solid. makes it unbreakable. very good phone.

  • Hi All, I am new user of honor phones and using this phone for past 3 weeks. Initially it was not performed as expected but after enabled developer mode it started to perform marvelously. I am moderate user only and the battery is long lasting for 1.5 days. it really amazing. I saw lot comments that mobile is not performed good after updating the OS but I don't see any issues with mobile. Camera is also good as it is using Sony lens. It's durability is good because my mobile was fall down from 6 feet height but nothing happened to display. Hence, This model is very good as performance,Display,Camera etc... Cant expect more for this price range. Thanks.

  • This phone is a complete pile of junk, the OS is a hideous attempt to be ios but is very badly done, notification icons in the notification bar are so small only superman's eyes could possibly make them out, the code has clearly been ripped off from EMUI, the font is awful , black writing is a sort of smudgy grey with no contrast so you are constantly struggling to see the text, the CPU clock speed never goes below 960 which drains the battery faster than it needs to, also the new "battery optimization " of android 6.0 is a real mess, it stops apps that it shouldn't causing notification to come in late of sometimes not at all, also using you own tones does not play well with android 6.0, after a short while apps wont see your tomes so for some reason they stop working, I left android a year ago for the iPhone 6 plus which was my first iPhone, no coming back to the pile of poor mans junk that is android this has all been a horrible experience and I will be going back to my iphone asap, poor quality apps slapped together, with a half backed buggy pile of poo sums up the android experience, save your money and get a iPhone, it just works !

  • P9 lite is better. Processor is better(powerful). Camera is better. Design is fantastic not to say the honor 5x's design sucks. If u are on a budget then go for the honor 5x but if no, then certainly go for the p9 lite. U won't regret it. Note the variant u have to buy since different continents/areas have different network bands that work better for that area/ continent.

  • Download this app from the Play store. The name is "HW themes". There are 100+ themes to download. Click on the theme u like. Tap download. It will refer u to chrome, then tap skip add then download. It might transfer u to Google drive, in that case, tap on the "three dot" at the top right hand corner of the Google drive app and then hit download. After the download, go to files and copy the theme u downloaded a and put it in the "HWthemes" folder in the INTERNAL STORAGE. Back out/ press home and Open the THEMES on ur smartphone. It will be there. Tap on it, hit apply and wait for a couple of seconds for the theme of the device to change.Long, I know😂. Hope that helps😊

  • I can recommend to turn on Force GPU Rendering in Developer Mode, it speeds up the phone and u get rid of the lag. Unfortunately it might lower the battery life with this option enabled

I bought the 5X GR5 as spare phone while moving from Iphone 5s going throw very very bad experience with (Xperia Z3 dual) ended with selling it and lose, I decided to get back to iOS with Iphone 6 or 6s .. Now, I'm using it as main phone, battery life is awesome performance is great options and software modifications helps a lot, maybe if you turned from a high end devices like me you might feel the quality of sound and camera are a little low, I give it 8/10 2 for the camera quality and speaker sound but still I noticed big improvement for them in Android 6, can't wait for Android 7 which will be 100% supported for the device.   • Hi guys. Well I just bought the 5x a week ago and I'd say its a good phone for it's price. What's sad is that I got the Snapdragon 615 (and I have no idea how to upgrade it) not the 616 so if you're gonna purchase I suggest take the Snapdragon 616. About it's battery life there's no problem about it just uninstall some of the apps you don't really need but the problem is when you charge the phone because of the stock charger (5V/1A) so it's gonna take a while charging. The camera is pretty good but the front cam cant handle low light areas well and phone comes with a screen protector and a protective case inside the box. Well that's it for now and maybe I'l update more about this phone. Hope this helped. This phone wont let you down just take care of it.

  • I'm thinking you not into custom roms and rooting. When your phone freezes, just hold down, the power button, the power off menu will pop up, continue to hold it. The phone often times will reboot but some may turn off. This however isn't likely to happen to your new device, if does, you can return it.

  • Hi, I upgraded my 5x to marshmallow 6.0.1 yesterday i.e. 13/7 from my device itself OTA with the help of wifi connection (very slow it was... like 4 hrs.). So the upgrade is available now. After a few hiccoughs it installed the 1.1 GB package I downloaded. When I downloaded the same pack on a computer on the hicare.in website the size of that download was 1.5 GB !!. So can you or anyone else tell me why the there are two different sizes?

  • redmi note 3 is the competeter of 5x so it always has some higher configuration like larger battery higher camera pixels lower price. but if the experience is similar,like no lag in browse, gaming, then these higher don't make too much real sense. redmi note 3 has been upgraded from original helio to s650 so it's stronger than 5x while 5c is coming for it. so it's more depend on one's personal taste.

  • u need to download compass app. there's many in google store. browse, navigation, music etc by Internet (not by WiFi) can be a little bit warm for longer time. it's normal. gaming without WiFi can cause it heating more.

  • I just bought it few days ago and so far I'm loving it but I have to ask, I can't seem to find any built in compass app in mine.   • for me its the most important factor, first battery in my s3 mini died a few days after end of half year warranty in unibody case for two years it will be 4 times sending phone to service with prices of new batteries it will end a half of price of phone! i must be online 24h even with 20000 powerbank sending phone to service means i cant use it min a week with my luck almost sure 2 weeks...

  • Pretty good phone, pretty quick. Fingerprint scanner works great. Camera may not have all highest end features but overall good phone for everyday use, gaming is decent as well. 9 out of 10 from me.

  • agree. actually, i choose 5x just because its outstanding good looking among 20 -30 phone crowd on the display wall in the first glance. so the outlook design is important. just like choosing a car. even if it's powerful inside, it's not enough to attract buyer.

  • honor 5x is great but in mainstream there are more powerful devices that lacks recognition, by looking at your comparison your comparison have huge differences with honor 5x looking the most outstanding ones there, in my suggestion for a minimalistic comparison and variety with the same performance and functionality, go compare honor 5x with honor 6 plus/honor 6, huawei p8 lite, xiaomi redmi note 3 all of these phones are by far to me as a twins and you might confilicted on which ones to buy depends on your choice tho. please and please exclude the samsung J7/J5 crap series which in my opinion are overrated and looking at its specs is the poorest amongs the above that ive mentioned but offers slight higher price which i dont even understand why or how on earth the world works it that way, samsung sells brand they dont sell a phone masterpiece, and thats all i got to say

  • old j7 has lots complaint, go its review and have a look. 5x currently enjoys more positive feedback. there are a lot of choice of different model and brand in market. they are based on similar hardwares. so the choice is more on the preference of one's previous happy or sad experience.

  • depends what is important to you j7 (but only 2016 version -better spec) have removable battery but it low end phone, in other hand samsungs are common then more service points, i will wait for samsung j9 hope it will be on my country market

  • Hi,i'm using this smartfone.in my country its called gr5 officialy. Price bdt 19900. For who went to buy gr5 or honor 5x....no doubt its a good handset.its a budget fone. Awesome sound quality,exellent front n rear camera. Picture quality in low light not so good.display resoulation decent. No major heating issue. Body durability perfact. No lacks on gaming. But some heavy games lacks somtime. I think its not a big prob in a budget fone. Snapdragon 616 do it well in gr5.its design awesome. premium look.I used many flagship fone in other brands but huawei gr5 give me not bad experience like flagships. U can go for gr5. Thanks.

  • 5x is larger 5.5inch, p8 lite is smaller 5.0. that's the major factor u need to consider. so if you like larger one choose 5x, or p8lite. note p9 lite is coming. of course, price is another factor.

  • f1 is smaller and shorter battery. fairly lots of complaints for different issue from camera function, drain fast, video call etc. simplely, 5x is larger in screen, higher resolution, clearer and longer battery. and normally, it should function more reliable for huawei brand. f1 has garrila glass but 5x comes with a high-quality, high transparent protector, which I feel much satisfied.
