Honor Note 8 - User Reviews

  • It can be known as of huawei mate 9 X.

  • Also it supports fastcharge 18w not 10w, 9vX2a!

  • I have the honor note 8 in 128gb gold, they do exist :-)

  • On the latest firmware B538 I'm getting 8,5-9h screen on time. Very nice!

  • Cons (coming from Mi Max 1 3/32) Yellowish tint on screen, can be somewhat fixed Rather small battery 7h sot for me (no gaming) Only a tiny bit larger screen for a bump in physical size Software is a bit tricky to root/flash and get google to work No soft keys Pros I'm an LCD man. Never expected to be attracted to amoled because I want sharpness, lifespan, brightness, battery life over contrast. I gotta say though that this 6.6" screen although being a bit unefficient with power looks great and I have enjoyed the contrast very much. The bump in resolution wasn't noticeable at first but now very much so. (I like 1080p lcd very much because it's sharp, no pentile) This 1440 pentile amoled is sharp enough. Slightly sharper than the 1080p on Mimax. At first I was annoyed by the odd rgb "glimmer" but now I don't care anymore. Usb-c port feels nice and stable for charging. No more crappy connections anymore. Charging is more or less the same speed always. On mimax sometimes its slow sometimes fast (with qc3 charger). Cpu is very very nice with over 1700 on geekbench single and over 5000 on geekbench multi. For a 2-3y old phone still beating mimax1/2/3 it's quite the proof that kirin kicks ass. It's also rather power efficient. Better memory management in Emui. Fewer closed apps. No bending in the chassi like the Mimax1 Best pro reason to get the phone though is the record large screen 6.6inch 16:9 aspect ratio optimal for media consumption. No larger phone less than 3y old is available in 16:9. Cheap

  • Even today?. Is the honor note 8 still recomendable on 2019 for someone wants a phone for 2 years?. I don't see much price difference between the honor note 8 and the mi max 3. The fact that the screen is AMOLED make it a big alternative. The 8x max turn out to have bad cameras and the mi max 3 seems good enough but doesn't have an amazing display and audio quality from the headphone jack.

  • I owned the mi max 2 before moving to the note 8. Without measuring the screen I can say it's not only bigger but way more vibrant and beautiful. The super AMOLED screen on the honor note 8 is far superior to the mi max 2, the speaker is louder and richer and the overall build quality is superior. The atennas in the phone are far better. It's a better phone in every department. I now own the honor note 10 and its better than the note 8 in every department even though it has a lower resolution screen. I also prefer the old aspect ratio but you get used to it on the note 10. The screen still feels big but it's easier to handle. Plus with the gesture feature on the note 10 you have no on-screen buttons if you wish to get rid of them which gives you full screen usage all the time. No buttons in the way or navigation ball. I still use my note 8 everyday and love it and love the note 10

  • Hello it's still good to buy if you can get it cheap. I have both the note 8 and the note 10. Both are about the same price brand new. The CPU speeds are very close but the note 10 has a better GPU and CPU, better speakers and a brighter screen with better contrast. Overall the note 10 is a better phone but I still use my note 8 for browsing the web watching Netflix and YouTube as I prefer the larger aspect ratio and its fast performance. For gaming it has to be the note 10 as the GPU in the note 8 is rather weak but all games are playable but demanding games work better on low settings. I still use my note 8 everyday and I love it If u have any specific questions fell free to ask and I will answer ASAP

  • Hi! I'd like to get this phone but I wonder if 6.6inch is true or not, with or without black border bla bla. Can someone please help me measure the real diagonal in mm from corner to corner pixel. My xiaomi max 6.44inch is exactly 163mm ~ 6.417inch diagonally.

  • Is still a good buy?. I'm tired of seeing more and more 19.9 aspect ratio phone, I just want 16.9 with good screen and hopefully big . 6.5" sounds ideal. But I know that an old phone would have updates problems, is still recommended?. New apps and games will run properly?

  • thank you

  • Try factory reset of the phone and update it again... Since buying my phone in early 2017 i have not updated it and it works fine. Sometimes update only cause problems.

  • Hello. Need your help. I recently did the update to android 8. But after the update, the display quality has lowered. Earlier in 40% brightness, the video quality was much better and on top of having a super amoled, it was fantastic. But after the update, even if i keep the brightness to 85% the video clarity is not much. Even under sunlight, I cant see the phone screen properly. Can I update back to older android version. If yes, how to do it or how to increase the brightness on the new update. Its already on FQHD.

  • the price tho. it's far far far far higher

  • I still think this phone is worth buying over the new mi max 3. Its just a better device and its an upper midrange flagship device compared to the budget mi max series

  • Tell me more about how you did it

  • Huawei Honor Note 8 newer have 2160p video recording. I have this fablet and use different firmware. Processor support 4K video recording, but device - not.

  • Hello you have to go to setting, advance settings the langue and choose english. Or you can factory reset the phone and choose english when you set the phone up. If your phone is already in chinese then go to SETTINGS scroll down to the THIRD option from the bottom, press it and on the next screen press the SECOND option then on the next page press the FIRST option then on the next page press the FIRST option again and you should now be on the page where you can choose different languages

  • How to change language from chines language to English language

  • Biggest and best phone ever made, unlike these stupid 19:9 phones they come out with now that claim to be like 7 inches but might as well be 5 because they are so skinny

  • It's upgradeable to Android 8, I got the upgrade beginning of August. Kernel is 4.4.23, security patch is from 1st July 2018. Fast charging is supported: Huawei QuickCharge (5V/2A). It's only on the Chinese market (at least officially), so the "market dependant" in the GPS info is nonsense. (Side note: With all retailers in China I know, I've only ever seen it offered in the 64GB/4GB version, in Gold, so I can't say if the other versions and colours exist, or if they were just planned and later canned.)

  • May honor note 8 still working flawless since it first release i been thinking to replace it with up coming new note model

  • Honor Note 10 is coming.. 6.9 inch Amoled .. wait for few months..

  • thankssss bro

  • Had this since it came out. It's still great, but would love a new version by the time its 2 years old.

  • Does anyone know if huawei is going to release the honor note 9. Ive had the note 8 for over a year now and its a brilliant phone. i want to upgrade as i have cracked my screen but i will only do it if they release the note 9. If not, im sticking with this phone as its the best phone ive ever had for the price.

  • I brought mine online from china arrived at my door in england in 3 days using dhl express delivery. Check online

  • hi guys, I need your help kindly informed me where I can find this device in the middle east specially UAE & KSA thanks in advance,,

  • Thank you for your help, Florin. I had tried your instructions but it didn't solve it. There is no new email notification until I refresh it on Gmail application. I had tried to clean up the cache on Gmail application, turn the auto sync, but the result is the same no new email notification. Sometimes I received new email notification but on the other time I must refresh on Gmail application. Any suggestion from you, Florin or from the others ? Thank you.

  • You have to give each application some permissions to receive notifications. Go to Settings >Permissions > select the Email app > Set individual permissions > Enable Trust this app

  • Hello, can anyone help me...I am using Honor note 8 and I feel it is a great smartphone. But after I update the OS to Android 7.0, there is no notification for a new email. New email doesn't update except I pull down the top of gmail application. I already set on the auto sync. Is there anything wrong with the device ? Or any bug on the OS ? Thank you.

  • hallo my friend, how did you manage to do that, did you find any instructions online?

  • Hello, can you still hide the navigation bar when you update to emui 5?

  • Finally I updated to EMUI 5 & everything is great!

  • Does anyone know a good stylus or pen for this device ? Thanks !

  • Does anyone has updated to EMUI 5? Is there an option to hide the navigation bar in updated EMUI 5?? or is it just same way with EMUI 4?? because I'm scared on new EMUI 5 they remove option to hide navigation bar.. Thank you!

  • Is this phone will receive oreo update with emui8?

  • Hello. If you go with 50 percent screen brightness or less you should get 8 to 10 hours of screen on time. Just make sure GSP and Bluetooth are off and apps ain't running in the background. I'm averaging about 8 hours before I charge it but I still have over 20 percent left sometimes over 30 percent. As the battery charges very fast I tend to top up the charge when it goes below 40 percent. I never let the battery totally run out of charge and normally charge it to around 95 percent. I read somewhere that it helps the battery last longer. My screen on time is using mobile data you will get better numbers over WiFi.

  • Thank you so much for the information :)

  • OMG I'm so happy with this phone! After little bit worried about cannot install Googleplay, but after i read & learn in this forum I can get easily install it.... Now I'm so happy!!!

  • Hi What is the screen on time? I don't play games. Only social media and YouTube and surfing the internet. Thanks.

  • Don't know much about the LG it really depends on what u want. The honor note 8 is a fantastic phone for watching movies as the screen is big and its a quad HD super amoled screen. Having the fastest chip and most powerful graphics card means nothing if the battery drains really fast. I'm very happy with the honor note 8

  • Don't know much about the LG it really depends on what u want. The honor note 8 is a fantastic phone for watching movies as the screen is

  • I'm about to get the Huawei honor note 8 Since i had the Huawei p8 Max and asus Zenfone 3 ultra I need to try the honor note 8 :) I still must have your advise on that Huawei honor note 8 vs lg V30 Is it fair to say that lg V30 beat in everyway the Huawei honor note 8 I must say i was about to get the LG V30 But I found the Huawei honor note 8 so nice :) Thank you :)

  • I forgot to say that yes the playstore comes preinstalled. Just ask the seller to be sure. If you buy it from wondermobile it comes installed. I got my phone from a site called Gizok and it came installed with the playstore. I accidentally came across Gizok on a forum and was very happy with their service plus they use PayPal so my money was safe. I would only buy from China using PayPal I wouldn't bother with aliexpress. Phone came in two days from China to my front door in Birmingham England from Gizok. Cheers

  • Just do a Google search I'm sure you can easily solve this problem. I had the same issue and fixed it by reinstalling the playstore from the Chinese appstore that's on the phone. I'm not Chinese and don't speak Chinese but it was quite easy. I think I also reinstalled Google frameworks. I then turned the phone off after reinstalling the playstore and Google frameworks, restarted it and everything worked fine.

  • Hello mate my phone also had a slight issue with the playstore. what I did was go to Chinese appstore on my phone and reinstalled it and it worked fine. I also had to install the contacts app so that the phone could sync my contacts with my Google account. The camera is pretty good and has lots of features. I'm not a big camera user but it's good and is better than the camera on the mi max 2 As for updates I have never updated the phone as I want to keep the ability to manually hide the navigation bar. I have no intention of updating the phone. Cheers

  • hi everyone :) why my note8 difficult to instal Google play store... stuck in checkinginfo

  • Hello Concerning your honor note 8 Was it hard to install Play Store ...I think since its the Chinesse version no google n PlayStore install Do you like the camera or soso Im Wondering how camera is good since the phone was made in 2016 Is there any oreo android update you think for this year Since u have the phone ...did any update was made ...( All kinds of update or no update ao far!)

  • Hello Concerning the camera of honor note 8 Would you say is comparable to (galaxy s8...lg V30 - maybe pixel 2 a little bit) I mean for 2018 is it a great camera or soso! Did it come whit pre Install Play Store ...is it hard to install it Android nougat ( is it the last android on this phone) I'm must maybe assume Huawei wont released other updates for this phone Thank you

  • Camera Recording only fullhd

  • Awesome! Now, if only the bar could auto hide after swiping up from the bottom to show it again (like in LG:s phones) it would be perfect. Instead you have to hide it again by pressing the arrow down. But this is good enough, I think. Thank you for your help!

  • yes...by adding the same button you mentioned before... like this:

  • Is there an option to hide the navigation bar in that menu?

  • (Emui 5.0.1) go to: >> Settings >> Navigation key and active "Navigation Bar" were you looking for this?

  • I think the ability to hide the navigation bar has been removed on newer versions of emui. This is why I have never upgraded, I'm still on emui 4.0. My advise to anyone who owns this phone is not to upgrade Emui if you like the ability to hide the navigation bar.

  • Please tell me if it's possible to hide the soft keys in EMUI 5 on this phone? By going to: >> Settings >> Smart assistance >> Navigation bar >> Navigation bar Then there will appear a new button on the left side that hides the navigation bar? I believe this was possible in EMUI 4, but it might have been removed with the update.

  • depends on what you are looking for performance wise it can handle all of the games I throw at it @ 2017, White Cat Project, HIT, Lineage 2 etc EMUI is better than ever Camera Wise it doesn't have stuff like dual or leica from Mate 10, but still packs good punch, performs really really well in low light situations for a phone that is not specialized for the camera Storage wise, sufficient, but more space always = more rubbish, so it comes to personal tidiness. Battery is of 4500, very sufficient, even better than my daily driver Mate 10 The screen is very nice, high res with good colors and saturation tuning Btw, the only reason I'm not using it as daily driver is because it is too damn big to put in my pockets, other than that it has been serving as my gaming device since I bought it, without any lag or slowing down.

  • Is this phone still worth it in 2018 ? Between this and the Oneplus 5T , which one should i choose ?

  • Thanks a lot for this exhaustive comment. I ordered a 128GB Honor Note 8 from an Aliexpress seller with 150+ positive reviews of the ordered phone. Price was reasonable, 366 dollars or 271 GBP. I feel very happy and looking forward to the big screen estate and premium feel of the super awesome screen quality (means a lot to me). Great answer, very helpful

  • It went very well I am very happy with the honor note 8 it really is a beautiful phone people always ask about it. I brought it from China and it arrived at my house in Birmingham England in 3 days tracked delivery. I was so shocked that I took screen shots of the DHL website to prove to others that the phone came so fast. By chance on a forum someone mentioned a Chinese seller that was very good. They also use PayPal so my money was protected. The phone is more premium than the mi max 2 and the price is coming down so it's the better buy. The battery Is very good I get around 8 to 10 hours of intensive usage. No gaming but constant video streaming over mobile data. I have UNLIMITED data so I'm always on the phone. Mi max 2 gave me 10 hours plus of intensive usage with lots of gaming. I loved the phone but it had a few flaws. The viewing angles of the screen were bad. It's only great when looking directly at the screen. Any movement beyond a certain angle and the image looks bad. Also had an issue with the sound being quite low so I needed to use a sound booster app. You can adjust the dpi on the honor note so u see more on screen when surfing the Web. It really is like having a mini tablet. It also has a powerful antenna so I get high speed mobile Internet in places where the mi max 2 would struggle or get no mobile Internet. If you're on a tight budget or can get the mi max 2 for a very good price go for it. If you don't mind spending a bit more get the honor note 8. The 2k super amoled screen is beautiful and I can easily watch movies on this phone. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

  • I've had both phones and the honor note 8 is better but the mi max 2 is also a very good phone. The battery is crazy good on the mi max but screen viewing angles are mediocre Honor note battery is very good and the super amoled screen is beautiful. Plus the honor has more features and operates like a mini tablet. It's a premium device Ive had both and for the same price it's the honor note all day. If you can get the mi max for a good price it's still a very good buy.

  • Note 8 bigger size ! Mix 2 better software !

  • xiaomi mi max 2 vs honor note 8 which better

  • You will get H+ & 3G on Cricket.

  • So the phone doesn't work on LTE in USA ?! Does this mean that it will not work on Cricket Wireless ? Will it work on Straight Talk Wireless ?

  • I'm getting 2g and 3 g only !!! ..And i can't get it out of chinese ?!!!...There's a place in settings that asks you to turn on 4g.. but when you do ..It does not register..

  • Buy it from AliExpress !

  • How did it go? I'm in the middle of coosing between mi max 2 and note 8 myself.

  • Yes just did over the upgrade to 7.0

  • I love its screen a lot, large, vibrant colour AMOLED, hi-resolution.

  • i love this phone and i do not look to buy another phone until this one acts up, the only bad thing is that it does not have NFC but that not a deal breaker for me.

  • Hi everybody. Does anyone here know is there any chance to buy this phone in Poland?

  • Hi- Do you still own the Note 8 and how are you liking it since this last review?

  • It's really good for heavy games, I am using the phone already more than a year and I didn't face any problems.

  • Is this phone good in heavy games?

  • Is this phone is good for gaming? I need a reply pls.

  • U welcome ! Still waiting for honor note 9.

  • Thanks

  • In my own opinion honor note 8 is miles better , I dump mi max 2

  • Yes just updated my , brilliant

  • 7.0

  • Is Huawei Honor Note 8 OS upgradable to 7 or 8 ?

  • You can easily change the language you like ! I think Huawei will no longer make 6+ in phones !

  • Hi...is this note 8 comes in english language or chinese language...

  • I'm waiting for that info myself....

  • Any news about Honor Note 9 !

  • I think it's 9v 2 amp and 5v 2amps

  • Please tell me the output of charger adaptor we get with this device

  • Cool :) Thanks my friend.

  • You get andriod version 7.0 from over the air upgrade.

  • 6

  • Cool cause I'm about to get mi mix 1 . but tell me if it gets nougat or just android 6 !

  • I was also thinking about getting the mi mix 1 as prices are falling and its a newer phone. Xiaomi also put out lots of updates for their phones so it might get it. Xiaomi has a huge online community thats very helpful. I still might trade in my HN8 for a mi mix 1 at some point. So far though im loving the amoled screen :)

  • Great move don't worry its a good phone ! I wanna get mi mix 1 only because the screen size ! I wonder if it gets nougat update .

  • I lost my mi max 2 a few days ago and decided to buy the honor note 8 instead of another mi max 2. I hope I made the right choice :/

  • Does any one use the Honor Note 8 on Total Wireless system? The screen cracked on my Note 4 and looking to replace it. Tnx

  • Can you more specify this ? Thanks

  • Try go to - settings - auto update apps - Do not auto update apps .

  • How would I go about deactivating the update to google play services? I can't find that option anywhere.

  • ramin jaan...good english!...ahsant دی:

  • There are smaller phones for those who prefer small phones and this phone is big for those who prefer a big phone. If you don't like big phones, you are already at the wrong place to make a comment. As per gold color, again you are off in your comment. Gold, silver, black and white are the most common phone colors because most people want one of these colors. I actually don't like any of these colors but prefer another color and wish phone manufacturers were more accommodating in using alternative colors for those whose taste doesn't follow mainstream. This doesn't means I favor omitting an option (like gold color) from the list but instead, I favor adding more alternative options to the list.

  • I just saw a thread elsewhere for a custom rom to supper third party apps' notifications. For me, it is actually perfect like the way it is since i don't want any notifications for any third party apps; only from for calls and sms. I find it extremely annoying when notifications from apps like Facebook messenger and Whatsapp cannot be turned off or when they turn their notifications on without my consent. I want my phone in my own control. Note: I haven't purchased this phone yet since I just learned about it last night. Now I am debating to wait for Note 9 or just go ahead and buy Note 8. I am not quite in rush so I can wait for some time.

  • I don't have the phone as I am doing a research online on the phone. I read in China 4G means LTE that's why it only shows 4G while it is really LTE.

  • On the box CCC S&E

  • You can get it thru lazada,im using it right now and its a beast of a phone

  • I had it for a couple months now and I's been doing great. The big screen is great for games and youtube, and my battery keeps for about two days with moderate use easy.

  • Hi is the Note 8 box labeled with CE?

  • Guys anybody here has boost mobile service with this phone ! If yes what you getting 4G or 3G .

  • For me I think it has long battery life ! I guess you can play videos and check the internet more than 7 hours nonstop !

  • What's the battery life on this phone please?

  • Very good choice

  • You go settings, then advance and change the language, the go back to settings then go to application and then you choose which one you really need to run in background, then go on special access and make access to all notification what you want to get notified and go back again and in the special access you put the Google services to have access unlimited to data because if you don't do that in Chinese ROM you won't get the notification straight away as should be

  • Huawei Honor Note 8 or doesn't really matter which Huawei phone you buy they definitely work 4G but it depends the country where you are. In Europe you get 4G but US as I understand you get H+ but is really good as well coz my career supply only H+ and I got 22 meg per second and I have a friend with Samsung S8 and 4G and he got 40 meg per second but for streaming bro or to wach a film you don't need more then 7 meg per second on full HD and 4 meg per second on Hd resolution and 2 meg per second on 480p. So bro learn first before talk

  • I don't know where you want to buy the phone but you can try on gearbest

  • 4G available ;-)

  • Where do you recommend me to buy it, I use att carrier... thank you!

  • Hey buddy, I'm planning to buy it, would I be able to use it with att 4g? I watched a video where it has the 4g connection to be turned on(right below the wifi and Bluetooth buttons... is it true?

  • These days, Users prefer 4G LTE Can Huawei make 1 & we buy 1 with such technology? Too bad some of us love the BIG screen but live with slow data connection. I'm Frustrated!

  • Please how to change some app to English language especially hiapp n also hw to disable hivoice,my hivoice disable section is dainty.

  • I found the way how you get all notification straight through on Honor Note 8 Chinese version. You go in settings and get the permission to Google play services and deactivate the update for it and you get all notification doesn't matter which app

  • I bought online from AliExpress bro

  • pls i need help,hw will i change all d Chinese app or language to English. Also wat re dos apps to disable in order to improve battery performance. thanks

  • finally am honored, very gud quality

  • Too bad, this beast wasn't released in Philippines. :(

  • Why clash of clans blocked ,it open only when I use VPN ?

  • thanks, I have ordered honor note 8 already

  • Mi Max 2 is sheet because they use Snapdragon 625 and that CPU is not powerful enough to go smooth any games and multitasking so you get trouble and another problem what Xiaomi phone's has you can buy the phone Brand New and is coming with Vendor software so you use the phone on your own risk and if you like to change the software is very complicated. I told you those things because I got the same problem with Xiaomi mi max and then I sold it and I buy Huawei Honor Note 8

  • Defenetly go for Huawei Honor Note 8 is 10 time's powerful. I use to have Xiaomi mi max but I got Brand New with vendor software so that's not Safe at all and I sold it and I chose Honor Note 8 and I'm quite happy but is very hard to set up the phone because Huawei Honor Note 8 is only Chinese version so they don't have Global software and has to be set up correctly otherwise the notification on doesn't matter witch third party apps is not working properly but one's is set up correctly the phone works 100% better than any phone on the market at the moment. Another thing is check before buy the phone the network carrier on witch network band work and if is suts you is fine

  • Yes is full activ but 1 sim can be used as 4G and the other one is 2G

  • Does anyone know if the phone is full active for both sims?

  • Thanks for your help I was thinking to get s8 + . Sure I will switch to AT&T. Have a good day 😁

  • You will get 3g and H+ on AT&T no issues. Good luck

  • Why does it say "Dual stand-by" Isn't dual active?

  • I was getting H+ & 3G on MetroPCS . Now T-Mobile changed the towers . I'm getting 2G ,I called the customer support, went to the store no hope . Went to boost Mobile they said no . Went to my buddy @ his electronics store said no hope to use that Honor note 8 with any carrier. Unless I get extra data from AT&T . Guys plz advise

  • Where I'm buy a new charger original? I lost my charger with cable... :(

  • This phone has been my daily driver for almost a year and is still abeast. AMOLED, huge battery and RAM, 1440p. Can't wait for the Honor Note 9!

  • Huawei

  • Unable to play motion sensor games and fingerprint is not getting recognized after updating to eumi 5 n android 7. Please guys can anyone help us

  • Iam not able to play motionless games. It seems that it doesnt support motion sensor games. Can someone help me please ?

  • please dis n xiaomi mi max 2, which one will I go for. especially in terms of quality and camera

  • to get notifications from the apps like WhatsApp you need to configure the settings in WhatsApp then it works fine.

  • You don't configured the phone as should be because mine has no issue with Google play and notification

  • I got the update OTA straight away when I switch on the phone first time

  • Hey my notifications still don't work (don't get what's app, Facebook etc.) and I just recently installed the EMUI 5 update and I still haven't been able to get notifications through, the only notifications I get is a missed call or message and default email app, Google play store mucks up where it doesn't update automatically and even when I click update it doesn't it just keeps loading until I restart my phone and it works.. Help!

  • So, how long did it take you to receive EMUI 5 OTA update after you purchased the phone? Or did you manually download EMUI 5 and install it?

  • Hi guy's I have Huawei Honor Note 8 EDI-AL10 64 GB version Chinese version and if you can set up the phone correct all notification work's perfect. So mine was coming with EMUI 4.1 and update OTA to 5.0 Nougat. Is hard to set up at the first step but one's you have them all works fine. The only problem is coming with Chinese apps witch can be uninstall very easy and put your apps from Google play witch has to be install by yourself and then all you have to do to work all notification settings is to go in settings and get grant with exception on every app what you want to work and all solve. Then when you get a message via Facebook or Twitter or witchever app the notification come through straight away with no problems. The only thing what I don't like is the notification LED coz work only Green color by software and of course you can install a app to be changed to but I don't need. So guy's just get the phone with no regrets coz worth every penny

  • Open battery manager app, click protected apps, select apps you want to keep running in the background. Now you'll get you notifications. And as for custom ROMs, a simple google search would help you in that department as well. Check out KangVIP on the xda site.

  • Open battery manager app and go to protected apps. Select the apps you want to keep running in the background. Now you'll get the notifications...

  • Great help. Thank you very much. I am going to buy this one. Hope there is no other issue with the phone.

  • As far as my unit is concerned it came with android 6 and emui 4. There is no problem over the air updating to noughat and emui 5. You can have 2 instances of the same messenger app running at the same time. But as i noted in my previous post push notifications dont come which makes it pointless to have even one messenger running. While device is in standby no notifications except Sms, phone calls and alarms which are built in apps. Notifications from 3rd party apps NO. I have been trying to solve this probem for a month now but no avail. Updates are only OTA so that you cannot install custom ROM and get rid of chinese bloatware.

  • Thanks a lot. I am still confused with Mi Max 2. I dont know which one is better as both these are of same price. Kindly advise.

  • Thanks a lot. Is the new piece is coming with Android N with UI 5 ? If UI 5 is coming as preinstalled then it is OK. Or can I update without any issue ? I heard UI 5 can operate two whatsapp and facebook parallel ? Please help.

  • Yes. It can be updated to EMUI 5 and android 7 but this phone has a huge problem. Push notifications dont work which means you dont receive any messages from messengers like imo viber or any other app that uses push notifications. And it seems like no solution to this. It just beats the point of having a smartphone. I am disappointed with this phone.

  • Will it work with Verizon and will I get lte can anyone help thx

  • Its already on nougat and emui 7. And btw excellent phone fir this price. The only down fall for me is lack of VOLTE support in latest updates. Otherwise totally recommend phone

  • I am going to buy Honor Note 8. Can this be upgraded to UI 5 and Android 7.0 ? Please advise.

  • Does Honor Note 8 has notification light ? Please advise

  • I bought this phone and I'am living un Canada. Everything works well. No LTE but a still strong 4G with Koodo in Montréal.

  • Hi Planning to buy this phone. wanted to know whether its good for gaming as iam more into gaming and watching movies.

  • Thank you very much for this comment. Been searching online forums to learn more about this beast of a phone and how long it's battery lasts. You have helped me to make up my mind now! Once again, thanks so much for your honest opinion.

  • This is the best phone I've ever owned. Great screen, battery life is amazing, 128GB internal storage great for downloads without worrying about running out of space, all this for 500usd. Bye bye Samsung...

  • I bought from Hong Kong. It has 20 something language. There's no flaw on this phone. If you dont want to go more expensive stuff, this mobile is way enough.

  • Firstly, amazing phone. But, It records at 1080p not 2160p It has a 8mp front camera not 5mp

  • Does anyone have the international firmware version of this phone?

  • Guys i like everything in this phone but i have never used before. My question is that, what about the camera? Currently i use a mate 8. Is the camera much worse than the mate 8 camera?

  • Great phone no LTE in the USA, but it's still a great phone. No call issues quality is great.

  • This phone DOES have image stabilisation contrary to what some people are saying

  • im not sure about the SAR value, but I know that you can get on for $375 on ebay.

  • What case

  • No, this beast is not water resistant. I had this phone since November last year and it's awesome!! I love it so much that it was stolen from me when I traveled last month and I ordered another!! I currently have the Huawei mate 9. It's a good phone, but I miss my big screen girl. The phone should be coming soon. I just hope the screen is as perfect as the one that was stolen. Sometimes AMOLED screens are a mixed bag. I always look out for that dreaded discoloration that plagues many of them. But overall, there's nothing not to love about this device. Best bang for your buck! Better than the Sammy S8+ IMO!!

  • Does anybody know the official SAR value of the Note 8...cant seem to find it anywhere on the net...

  • Is this a water proof phone?

  • I don't think that this phone has OIS (optical image stabilisation) as stated in your presentation. It should have an external sensor attached next to the rear camera, right?

  • I don't think there is US version, it's getting H+ & 3G on MetroPCS. The model is EDI-AL10.

  • Is this the us version!

  • IS there an official measurement of the SAR Value of Huawei Honor Note 8

  • Buy a case on Amazon that is dedicated to the Honor Note 8. It will lock the phone when you close the case which is ideal if you just happen to put it down for a few seconds. It won't interfere with the signal strength. Depending where you like (I am in the UK) will depend on the network coverage and the band width. Find a sim card that offers a lot of network coverage. Do your research.

  • I agree with funwithash. Currently there are top of the range Apple and Samsung products costing around £800. The only difference is the 6GB ram+. The Huawei still punches above its weight with a massive screen and large battery. I did so much research: took me 5 months of differing and still came back to this beast of a phone. It punches above its weight and makes other models feel and look so overpriced. I hope they bring out another version with 8GB Ram and a possible 7" screen. I can watch so many TV neetworks across the globe without having to sign up to broadband. I am saving hundreds per year and my network provides me with 20GB data a month. Why do I need broadband. I can tether my data to my laptop and do exactly the same.

  • I am using this phone , and everything about it is amazing , battery last for 2 days heavily use with the mobile data on and auto rotate , charges from 10% to 100% within 1 hour 30 minutes. not very heavy compared to its size , amazing resolution , front camera have amazing quality and the rear camera as well . the only negative thing is the video camera stabilizer doesn't work so great . All in All i advice everyone to buy this phone specially if you enjoy using samsung phone

  • It gives some endurance it was dropped accidently but still OK but due to heavy mobile it should be handled with care

  • Do you think the hard plastic case is good enough against dropping the phone without damage.

  • I am using hard plastic case provided with mobile and keep screen lock but few times I noticed this it switched off due to accidentally pressed of power buttons but this happened with my previous phones too

  • Thank you my friend but I have 2 concerns 1- I'm using a metal case & I think it's weakening the signal and the wifi reception 2- The screen is so sensitive keeps dialing numbers when I put it in my pocket

  • Best of luck I am using it it's magnificent peace of technology value for money every thing is amazing in this price bracket

  • Finally got the phone over 8 weeks waiting it's getting H+ with MetroPCS & like my friend here said I got the nougat right away

  • Amazing Phone... got the EMUI5.0 update yesterday OTA. It's Nougat EMUI. Went like a dream. I'm un-rooted. No reason to root it actually... Highly recommended. Had it since November. Replaced my P8Max which was good but had reception problems.

  • Will this be Google Daydream compatible? Quite close to the specs of Mate 9 Pro.

  • Go for the Xiaomi mi5s plus. You will have everything in a flagship device except built quality.

  • Would you take this or the Xiaomi mi 5s plus? Every phone has its own pros and cos though the only thing holding me back from the mi 5s plus is Xiaomi's UI, and the only thing holding me back from the honor note 8 is the gpu as i have read some bad reviews. All what is care about is screen and performance, i barely use the camera for example therefore it's not a deal breaker for me.

  • what rom do you use?

  • Hi i live in rotterdam I have this phone since few months and it works like a charm best signals at work where samsung had zero bars

  • is this international firmware version?

  • Hello this phone working in UK And can get Google Play Store? Thanks.

  • does this mobile have a custom rom like mokee? please does any have a link to download a custom rom thanks for all

  • It will work on T-Mobile (same network as Metro PCS) UMTS but no LTE I don't think. LTE on T-Mobile utilises bands 2, 4 and 12 This phone supports bands 1,3,7,38,39,40 and 41.

  • Honor Note 8 will receive the latest updates to EMUI over the air. CM is not available on this device. (CM isn't even a thing now I don't think? its called Lineage OS) There are a couple of custom ROMs, all are based on stock as far as I am aware.

  • please give me link to download custom rom for this device? like cm or rr or miui please

  • 1- Try screen mirroring 2- Try YouTube app

  • Love this Phone.. Its fast and way better than the other competitors. Can we have a MHL of some how , How can i connect it to my Smart TV ..

  • Great phone but I was wondering if anyone can recommend a decent screen protector that will fit properly, thanks.

  • I ordered this on 14th on flosmall and received on 21st feb and so far no regrets amazing battery life but I request Huawei to release international firmware so that we can use this device extensively for contacts I used clone it is there any way to register Huawei id outside China region

  • Just buy a black screen protector, then the bezels don't look that wide.

  • Used it for 1 month already. This phone is great price for its feature. It survives after a few drop tests. The good: fast and responsive, good looking screen, visible under sunlight, good sound quality, good voice call quality, good reception. The not so good: Too many Huawei software to delete, cannot get Google contact to sync, fingerprint sensor at the back is not convenient, black edge is too wide, no black color, no NFC, camera focus is slow, heavy.

  • Not yet the tracking no# says shipped to NYC for one week now !

  • does it?

  • Your info sounds reassuring. Thanks With all the reading online, I wanted to avoid having to flash a new rom just to suit our region (never done it & didnt want to mess up). With your info, it sounds good. I'll probably have to manually download updates when they become available then. Did you get your phone online? It's a pity huawei doesn't bring the honor range to SA, overall they look good and worth the price overseas compared to what's offered in SA.

  • I downloaded the google play and google services apk's from www.apkmirror.com and i think they were the international versions not specifically the SA version. However, when i log in, i access the international version of the store and am not stuck to the Chinese version. When i started using the phone, i set SA as the region and a day after i got one OTA update for the OS while using 4G on my mtn line. Since then i haven't received any further updates and am not sure whether its because they have not issued additional ones or that the region has locked me out. but in terms of the play store and app updates everything is working perfectly. I would have to check a few forums on Honor Note 8 to see if there are any additional OTA system or security updates that i haven't accessed yet.

  • Thanks for the reply. Okay I see, in regards to it being a Chinese @ first, when you installed google playstore, does it recognise the IP address & give you the SA version of the store? Reason i ask is because im thinking of getting the honor 6x (bln-22) from india, so dont want to be stuck with an India version of the playstore. Also in terms of updates & security patches, do you receive any via OTA? (On initial setup, what region did you choose, Africa, SA?). I read online, the region/country stuff & it's confusing. Or do you manually have to download & install? Thanks again! Appreciated

  • The Phone i got does not have the international firmware so almost all stock apps are in Chinese and the phone did not have the default google apps installed (gmail, google services, play store, calendar...) So i had to disable a few of the Chinese apps including the defat Huawei app store and install google apps including the play store. Syncing contacts and calendar details needs to be facilitated by installation of additional apps. So thats the minor tweaking i meant.

  • i get 4G for both MTN and Cell-C networks

  • Thanks a lot. The SwiftKey is The Best.

  • The boarder outside display is a jimmick for low bezel view... You can download SwiftKey keyboard for best input experience.. Spell check, auto correct suggestions, auto fill suggestions, and lot more..

  • I have a Note 8. The smartphone is fantastic, but I have to talk about two problems that I only noticed when it arrived. It has a black border inside the screen that I do not know what it's for, but that does not make it take full advantage of the 6.6 inches, this left me very disappointed. The other point is that it is not possible to do spell checking or word suggestion, nor is it possible to insert a dictionary in the language of your country. This makes it very difficult to use the keyboard when typing fast. It only has support in China. Apart from this it is very fast, stylish and long battery life. Up to two and a half days without carrying on moderate use.

  • When you say tweaking, what did you do? I'm interested in getting the honor 6x but not sure if it will work in SA and also if it will be able to receive updates? Hope you can provide some insight, much appreciated

  • Do you get 4G or 3G in S Africa

  • Have been using this phone in South Africa for a month now and i love every bit of it. I had to do several tweaks (without rooting) because mine is not an international version but everything works fine. The only thing am missing is the english version of the music and video apps)

  • Still waiting for aliexpress to deliver it to NYC . Hopefully it will work with MetroPCS

  • can I use this phone in Netherland?

  • Just 5mp of secondary camera?? is this a joke? or it is a different type of camera? someone explain me

  • I have one of these superb looking phones being delivered (with luck) tomorrow. Currently following it's progress on the DHL tracking system. I've found a couple of decent reviews. I like this guy's style on youtube Also a review in German but Google Translate does a good job.

  • Should I buy this from aliexpress to use it in India what about Google services and lte bands compatibility are these sets secure for using payment apps

  • It depends, the Honor 8 has the dual camera system and smaller screen size but also has a smaller battery and slightly older processor (Honor 8 has the HiSilicon Kirin 950 with 4x2.3 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex A53 vs the 4x2.5 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex A53 HiSilicon Kirin 955 in this phone). In my opinion if you're more of a camera person or prefer a smaller phone then get the Honor 8. If you want a larger phone with slightly better specs and a larger battery then get this phone

  • They are actually both honor products, just different size & specs Also which one is better depends on your size/spec preferences

  • Which is better

  • I use Gboard but I am not certain if it has the Serbian language included or not and you can either delete or disable most of the Chinese apps.

  • Hi, I got this beast few days ago in Serbia. I have many questions, always had Samsung flagship in past. First, I am struggling a lot with keyboard, what is the best one specially if can have Serbian dictionary there? Which apps are safe to debloat? Many Chinese stuff there Thanks

  • I could not agree with you more Greg. All the other phones without a super amoled display looks like crap in comparison!

  • It's really a phabllet if you see the screen size

  • Honor 8 and Note 8 are different phone from the same company.

  • You should have been able to set your language when you set up the phone. But go to Settings - Advanced Settings - Language & Input - Language & Region - you should be good to go from there.

  • this phone has fantastic specs. but it doesn't have my native language of Arabic. only chines and English. how can I install additional languages on it? can anyone please help

  • It just came out in August. I'm sure there will be more reviews in the next few months.

  • The screen is fantastic. It is a super amoled quad HD made by Samsung for Huawei. Once you've.had this screen you're spoiled for anything else. Its the best!

  • I totally agree with you as I have had the Note 8 for about 3 weeks, and the phone is incredible especially for the price! The super amoled screen was one of the main reasons for me buying the phone and it is fantastic to look at!

  • was going to ask ... anyone else have trouble hearing calls? Not with the 'speaker phone' but the regular speaker where your ear is? tried everything I know to get it as loud as possible and just can barely hear people (usually Im saying "What?" all the time). My only complaint about the phone. Any clues how to fix? besides the obvious (turn the volume up lol which is already done).

  • some says its screen not good what is fact please help

  • Oh dear, you should send it back. I love mine think its fantastic.

  • Diplay settings, right down the bottom, eye comfort, yours will probably be set to on, and tgat makes the screen yellow.

  • When it is going to release in india

  • Best handheld device I got till today, together with Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Waiting for Note 9, which surely will incorporate the extremely powerful Kirin 970 SoC.

  • Thanks for your response. Yeah I did that already, did not get better tho.

  • Thanks for your response. Not a defective screen as I bought two, one for me and one for mum and they are the same. My brother has a Huawei P9 and was telling me about the difference in having the P9 an IPS LCD screen and Honor 8 Note a Super Amoled which I'm not really a fan of tbh.

  • As a former Huawei user I think there is an option to select the screen yelloish warm or pure white on the settings.

  • Maybe a defective screen, mine is spot on and I have the brightness @ 60% Max, to bright any higher, best screnn for HD Movies and TV, colors very accurate.

  • Only complaint I have about this phone is the screen. It has a yellowish base tint, is not bright enough imo even with the brightness set to Max and the colours are a bit over saturated in general. The whites are not exactly white but more like off-white. My brother bought a Huawei P9 and it carries a much better screen. I hope they will fix it with the new android nougat coming in feb but rather than that I have to say is a great phone especially when you look at the price.

  • I ordered mine on a Friday and had it the following Wednesday.

  • ya like only 2 or 3 decent semi reviews on the phone on youtube. Id like to do a review also; just want a little more time with mine. Been using mine fully for the past week - can say this: - Good: Excellent screen and why I bought it, amoled 6.6 inch screen, fast, nice finger print sensor, works great in the uk Bad: chinese apps that bug you and not sure you can get rid of, Its hard to hear when using the phone (its turned up all the way); I seem to be saying "What?" lots of times when talking to my wife either on whatsapp or using the phone. love reading psd books on this thou, and checking the net out - unlike my old S4.

  • Hi when will release honor note 8 in india??? ple i am waiting....

  • it sure does....I am using Rogers in Canada and have 4G service, Att only H+, but its still fast enough. I also use it in Mexico, and have no problems. Good and strong connections, good GPS reception and its lighting fast. Screen brightness could be higher, but overall performance is excellent.

  • How long did it take y'all to get the phone from vopmart?

  • Will this Smart Phone works in North America?

  • I would like to know why the shooting 2160p specifications and writes that it is not true, just shooting 1080p !!! ???

  • I was looking for a full review about the Honor note 8 and I have to admit, that is not to many reviews about the Honor note 8 I don't know why

  • My dearest.Just a question!?Is it possible to add NFC,IR,DLNA,USB V3.1,...trough updates or the next rectified modified last edition !!!?Because, maybe, somehow, they have been forgotten to be written down here!!!Thanks for Honor or knowledgeable answers,....Justice Rights,Omid12Omidvar,....

  • Gsm please review this phone , why new xiaomi phone always got review but huawei device rarely review by you =_=

  • Use Google to sign into your old phone. if you don't have one, create one. Make sure you allow Google to have access to you contact and other settings. In case you need additional security, save your contacts to sd, flash drive, or, I will recommend, Google drive.

  • Google Contacts Fix everyone! Cheers🍻

  • Thinking about buying honour 8 moblie phone but i have concerns about syncing contacts can someone help!

  • you need to give the app accessright to the contacts - like almost always, honor/huawei restricts rights to apps - check all google-apps for the rights - usually they are not permitted initially to access contacts sms etc...

  • I downloaded the app after I read your post but my contacts are still not syncing with Google. Thanks for your concern anyway.

  • The Honor Note 8 accepts two sim cards at once. However you have the option of using the second sim card slot for a memory card to increase the phone memory. if you choose this option, you can only use one sim card and one memory card at the same time thereby losing the dual sim capability. Hope this helps.

  • Hello friend, did you try to download quick sync setting from google play store that will help.

  • This is an excellent phone for the price. I owned the Huawei P8 Max before I upgraded to the Honor Note 8 and I've absolutely no regrets. I bought mine from VopMart along with the original Huawei Dot Matrix case and the Luxurios leather case. Both are great cases. The phone does come supplied with a clear cover though but it's not a flip case and offers no protection to the beautiful large screen (and you definitely want to protect that screen). I also like the slightly reduced size of 6.6 inches over the P8 Max which was 6.8 inches. I've had no signal issues and the phone worked great right out of the box. The battery lasts a complete day with full use including videos, music and of course calls. I don't use the supplied charger because it doesn't fit into a standard wall socket in my country but the phone charges fast enough. The only problem I have with this phone is that it doesn't sync my contacts to google which is such a shame. I've tried everything and searched all the available web sites but I can't find a solution so you need to bear that in mind.

  • All knowledgeable. As the specifications shows,NFC,IR,DLNA,USB version 3.1 is absent, but the rest are have a house in the uppermost class'!!!I still don't understand 32,64,128 inside memory being hybrid, and having a second SIM card slot being used as an external memory slot too!!!?Here,I need someone,s help to justify them logically !!!?Of course,Huawei P9 plus is the best example of showing sincerity in deeds! Thanks for scientific logical answers,in advance,....Omid87,Omid12Omitted,Omid12Omidvar,sam,....And gsmArena review,....

  • That's what was said about Honor Note 8 when it was release back in August (or something like that)... I just think Note 8 has better value compared to Mate 9; Honor series is not supposed to be the premium anyways, I get that; but there are plenty of high end competitors in the US, so break into US market with Honor brand seems to be a more reasonable thing to do. To be honest, I think it was somewhat silly for Huawei not to release its new phone lineup in the US during the Thanksgiving shopping season.

  • Actually, they are making a push into the US with the Mate 9. It's going to be released stateside soon.

  • Bummer... I wonder if Huawei has given up on the US market altogether, as they are definitely not making any kind of push these days. sigh....

  • No 4g. HSPA+ and 3g only.

  • I am also thinking about buying this phone for T-Mobile network. Do you get 4G on this phone? Information I have come across so far says it doesn't support T-Mobile 4G bands. Thanks!

  • Mine came sim unlocked. I put a T-Mobile sim card in and I was good to go. If it doesn't work, you may want to look into returning it and purchasing it from somewhere else. I purchased mine from vopmart and I've read Aliexpress for others. I haven't seen much in the way of sim card issues elsewhere.

  • There is fast charging but you have to use the charger that comes in the box. It is not compatible w/ Qualcomm fast charging equipment.

  • Certainly does have fast charging, very quick using the supplied charger and cable, also just installed new firmware update (official 247 MB) which appeared,in the updater menu, still very pleased with this phone, BTW the original note 8 Dot Matrix case is superb, the Matrix reminders through the case are really cool.

  • Im not sure about the fast charging - but I think my phone charges quite quickly using a usb c fast charger (I am not using the included plug). btw ordered a couple cases to try out - will take a bit but looking forward to them since this phone is Really big and delicate. Trying out the official dot matrix one (as suggested). So far Really glad I got this phone; its about the size of a small tablet so great for downtime and reading stuff a bit awkward talking on the phone thou (my arm actually got tired from holding it the first few times).

  • No fast charging?

  • I'm in the same situation. Other people have this phone active in the US. I have tried GSM and CDMA sim cards and it reads the card but shows no signal. I've been looking for unlocking solutions.

  • Just received mine from amazon.fr, 64GB, gold version, 450€. I can confirm that the phone is working fine (4G) in France and Switzerland. As an example, my best speed test was 16ms ping, 89Mb/s DL and 20Mb/s in UL around the alps, not even in the biggest Swiss cities. The screen is absolutely amazing. I previously had several samsung galaxy notes flagships and I can assure this screen is continuation of what samsung is building in terms of screen quality (this screen is built by samsung). The battery for such a big phone is pretty impressive (at least one day). The fingerprint is really fast as reported on the internet. I had already the play store installed, but if not, it is possible to install it through Huawei app store. Up to now, no major issue observed.

  • Just received mine from Ali Express (in UK) can confirm had Play Store and Google Apps pre-installed also picked up 4G immediately (EE). Ordered with the original case, which is superb, glad I did. Very pleased with the Note 8, struggling to Sync with Google though, it syncs but nothing appears, early days yet sure I will figure out.

  • My fone says only compatible with China Telecom cards did I just waste 500 bucks in a fone I can not eve. Use of is there way to over ride it and use my Verizon or T-Mobile SIM.

  • if you go to settings where you see airplane mode etc, look down nyou'll see more, click on more you'll see a slide that says 4G, now depending where you are, I am in Maryland usa with at&t which i'm receiving H+ here which after turning the 4G my speeds match those of LTE and 4G. eventho i'm showing H+ i'm now loving this phone

  • go to either ebay or aliexpress and type in original Huawei honor note 8 flip case in gray, man it's beautiful and has matrix lighting on the case front ebay has it for 15.99 and aliexpress 19.99, you get it faster from aliexpress

  • You're welcome, and about the google play store you could ask the seller install it for you or you could download by yourself on Huawei store is very easy to to.

  • Hey Matt ... Took 10 days to get my phone from wonda but just plugged it in using the EE network. 4g popped up right away; btw you probably know this but there are 2 sim spots 1 and 2 and the main sim goes in the far right one. I live in SW london btw ... going to test my speeds and reception for phone calls compared to my O2 phone that I currently use (make sure EE is a good switch). Ill let you know how the 4g signal is in different places - but again so far 4g popped up right away with ee. The phone is massive; but the screen is just Awesome. btw anyone know of any user manual for this online? also what case protector are people getting that they like?

  • Thanks Brandon. Your advice is much appreciated.

  • And if you want to buy it, you could buy it on AliExpress for around 500$ to 520$CAD

  • Hi there,I've had the P8 Max and The mate8, and so far the mate 8 is the best when's come to connectivity, the P8 Max only support lte band 7 same as the note 8,and I'm using it in Montreal on Rogers network too, i don"t have the note 8 yet, but I'm sure that it will be the same as P8 Max, you won't get 4G all the time, sometimes you have H+, H, or 3G,which means that the data speed will be slow

  • thanks xelon I have checked everywhere and just cannot workout why I cannot get 4G- I purchased mine from WONDAMOBILE who continually tell me the phone is LTE compatible with all networks apart from 02 but I havent once received 4G on any sim card I have tried, and it so far should have been compatible with 3 different frequencies that I have utilised- let me know if you get any joy, its the only downside of the phone as its amazing, but having slow data speed is quite annoying when I am out and about

  • Hey, thanks Daver69, I did the same but there was one certain app I could neither delete nor block so I don´t know why but just by restoring all the app preferences it got fixed. Kind regards.

  • I got rid of all of the Chinese apps by long pressing it and dragging it up to app info button. Then delete is available. I don't have root

  • Hi Brandon, where did you buy your phone from? How about Google Play and apps(Gmail, maps.. etc)? Was it pre-installed? I'm also on Rogers' network but in Montreal. I have the mate 7 presently and Google Play services and store came pre-installed.By the way, is World of tanks blitz available for the note 8? Any help would really be appreciated. Thx.

  • There is only on version of the phone. It is the Chinese one. Some system apps can't be uninstalled w/o root. So disable the apps that you don't want. I do not recommend disabling Phone Manager because doing so causes problems with the phone.

  • Hello there, can anyone help me please? I just received mine but it's got some chinese apps that I can´t delete and even though I set it to English it still has some chinese characters. How can I get rid of this and have it as a European version of EMUI? Thanks!

  • That's what i guess too, thanks for the information

  • Just waiting for mine to be delivered, I too am on EE 4G in UK, maybe answer is on will take a look and report back

  • I'm using it on Rogers in Vancouver, BC. This Note 8 only uses Rogers B7 LTE band. B7 LTE coverage on B7 seems 100% in most urban areas. I'll drop to 3G at home and while driving in some areas. If you've used a previous phone with only B7 LTE, this phone will be the same.

  • Hi, can anyone help me please? I have imported to UK and have not yet been able to receive 4G on any sim card or network, and I have tried EE and Vodafone which support mutliple bands. This is the only downside to this phone which has been amazing so far.

  • For me it worked. In that case set permissions for each application...

  • I did that but I am still not getting my notifications :(

  • Stop killing apps in background + notification? Easy - Battery manager - Power plan - disable mode Smart and enable mode Performance !

  • Honor USA said that they have no knowledge of any plans to bring the phone stateside. If you want it, you can purchase it from eBay, Vopmart, Aliexpress or Gearbest. It will be the Chinese version which is the only version that exists at the moment.

  • Has anyone heard when the Honor Note 8 will be available in the U.S.?

  • Has anyone heard when the Honor Note 8 will be available in the U.S.?

  • I have no idea how to fix the notification issue. It is my biggest problem with this phone. I allowed everything for notifications ton the lockscreen and everywhere else but I'm still not getting notifications from apps like Hangouts, Duo and Marco Polo. I read somewhere that it has to do with the battery management and killing apps in the background but I set all of those apps as "protected" but that didn't work either. Honor USA claims that Nougat is forthcoming and will have a beta. However, they could not tell me when it is going to happen as the phone has not been released in the US.

  • Will this work with a USB type C hub that extends the display to a monitor?

  • For me this is the ideal upgrade from my Sony z ultra.I recommend it if your looking for a fast, classy phablet with a top notch screen.Im in the UK So imported it.No drama or issues, its a fine phone.

  • Hi,anyone using this phone in Canada on Rogers LTE network, did you guys has any kind of signal lost issue cuz I've had a Huawei P8 max and it support lte bands 7 same as this phone and I have bad experience about 4G connection most of the time i got H+or H and sometime it went down to 3G.So please let me know, thanks in advance

  • Forum but close enough. :-)

  • For Hauwei ID

  • Has anyone managed to fix the notification problem for apps like whatsapp, twitter and emails? Any information if these issues are going to be fixed? Also is the new EMUI 5.0 to huawei note 8, thanks in advance.

  • Someone emailed Honor USA and they replied that they had no knowledge of a planned U.S. release. I have my contacts loaded just fine you need to download the Google Sync app and set the appropriate permissions to get them loaded on your phone. Phab Pro 2 looks cool and the Tango camera seems awesome but the phones resolution and processor are inferior to the Honor Note 8 so it depends on what your preference is. Also, there is very little development so far with the Honor Note 8. 3 Chinese roms and nothing AOSP can be found in XDA.

  • When is H N8 available in Cambodia?

  • The phone does not support WIFI calling.

  • I know right! I'd LOVE to see this thing with a stock google rom with no bloat & funk on it. It's got quite a bit of chinese bloat on it & it's crazy fast. Just imagine how fast it'd be with all that gone. :-o

  • I believe it is the app that I use to control the screen's brightness level. It's opening really fast now. Oddly enough, even with the slight slow down I experienced, it's still faster and more accurate than any phone I've ever used!

  • Mine is just as fast as when I got it. You prolly have something slowing down your phone.

  • Anyone else with the phone realize that over time, the finger print reader doesn't unlock the phone as lightening fast as when you first configured it? When you pick up the phone from a long deep sleep, it takes a little longer to unlock with finger print. If the screen was recently on and you try it, it is super fast, but if the screen has been off for a while, you get a slight delay before turning on. Not a big deal, just something I noticed. I'm wondering if there's an app causing it...etc

  • I just check with JADOPADOÂ’s official app which is available on playstore, they are shipping to ur country from starting289 Jordan Dinar for the base model, silver and white colours available from32gb to128gb. Its chineese version from huawei, international version will be available shortly. better download the app from playstore...... they are providiഇങ് a lot of offers also.

  • You said the phone now it's available in JADOPADO with 1500 AEU Give me more details about that please Which colour is existing?? Is there black version?? And is it original or Dubai products?? I'm waiting to get this phone two months ago, But unfortunately It doesn't exists in Jordan So please help me bro

  • How'd you get the Huawei ID to work without a Chinese phone number? I've tried it a number of times without success. Totally agree with everything you said too. I have the Huawei watch & I want to murder kittens when the notifications stop because the phone killed an app, even tho the app is protected. I'm going to use Titanium Backup & freeze the phone manager app & see if that fixes it! I so wish someone would put together a stock google rom for this phone & totally remove all the chinese apps.

  • I too have had the S7 Edge and Note 7 & before that iPhones. I was so upset to lose my Note 7 it was the best phone I'd ever had. After watching & reading a lot of reviews I decided on this mainly because the 5.5" screen is just not big enough. I can't tell you how blown away I am by this phone!! The screen is phenomenal! It's speed is amazing, faster than my Edge 7. I really don't feel like I'm using a mid price smartphone at all its so good. The camera is OK, yes in low light it struggles, and trouble with not notifications is a pain but other than that it's perfect! I'm going to be torn in two when the Samsung Note 8 is released next year, I have no idea what to do now I've experienced this!

  • I've been playing around most of the day trying to get notifications to work for emails, I have several accounts. All of a sudden they sprung into life on the app I installed first! It's frustrating, particularly as I have a Huawei Watch which Without Notifications From The Phone Is Pretty Useless! I am getting more than I was though so hopefully over the coming days I'll get more.

  • I've been playing around most of the day trying to get notifications to work for emails, I have several accounts. All of a sudden they sprung into life on the app I installed first! • I imported mine from China through a company called Wonda and they took off the Chinese apps, as many as they could there are some left, then installed English and Google apps. The Wonda website will be able to tell you if it will work in your country. I have been able to obtain a Huawei ID with no problems.

  • My Honor Note 8 came from China & I am in the UK. I have been able to obtain a Huawei ID with no problems so I doubt a Chinese line is necessary.

  • I live in Holland and ik want to buy the note 8. What is the best place to buy it and does it work with dutch t-mobile and your sim and all that

  • I received my device last Wednesday and I'm havingthesameissueas well. My whatsapp notifications aren't alerting me when they first arrive. Even though I changed the protection and permission. I haven't been able to find a workaround yet. if anyone has any suggestions..Other than that, I'm still enjoying this device and have no regrets.

  • Nah the Huawei ID never presented itself at all.

  • I'm in UK my Note 8 arrived yesterday. So far it's great by I'm not getting all notifications that I should. I have altered the apps to protected in the battery setting and whilst I've got more than I did its not anywhere near what I'm getting on my Samsung S7 Edge. Does anyone else have this and know if there's something I should do? Would changing to a different launcher help?

  • I'm in the UK and the import taxes were sorted by the company I bought it from In China, my Note 8 arrived yesterday with no issues.

  • Well.it will be useless if the phone is started there as first you have to have Huawei ID to create an account which is not possible outside china because chinese phone number will be required..better to ask your friend to buy any chinese line thus create the Huawei ID

  • Hello, does this phone work properly in GCC region? Its sold on Jadopado but it will be shipped from HongKong. Does anyone have it in the GCC? Does it work perfectly?

  • I am also from UAE, Huawei note 8 is available at JADOPADO from 1500 AED

  • Hi All!! Can anyone help me with Note 8 battery life? Thanx forward!

  • Hi All, can anyone confirm if this phone will be available outside china, especially if in UAE or KSA. some say yes, others no, does anyone have a clear answer. thanks

  • Unfortunately, you can't record in 4k. 1080p is what you get. That's perfect enough for me. It's one of those tradeoffs for getting an awesome phone at this price point. I'm not sure I'll be able to go back to theto bigger phone makers..i.e Samsung, LG..etc Huawei did a pretty good job with this one.

  • Honor support team informed me that the chinese version will not work in lebanon, and i think this phone is only intended for china and wont be rrleased in the middle east, unlike what some if the friends are posting. Its frustrating not to be able to get the phone

  • hey can you please confirm if you can record in 4k?

  • I buy huawei honor note 8 and i forget pin screen lock how can i bypass it without wipe or reset factory because i dont wanna lose google play?plz help

  • Never mind, I figured it out! This phone is beyond awesome! I may never use another Samsung device again! I'm still searching for a con and can't find one. The connection is super fast connecting to T-Mos 3-3.5G Network! IMO, the camera takes exceptional pics. Does struggle in low light, but not a deal breaker for me. You can adjust/tweak it as much as you like by going to pro mode to get the best shots. Volume and speaker are pretty loud and richer than I thought. This phone doesn't have lag in its functional vocabulary. The best is of course that big AMOLED screen. The best I have see. This is coming from an S7 Edge and Note 7!

  • I finally received this phone. She's beautiful!! But can anyone direct me how to sync my contacts? I tried downloading apk and allowing permissions, but nothing. That's the biggest issue I'm having.

  • I wanted to buy this phone . But i have sprint . And i hear 4g lte is not avaiable for sprint customers is that true ?

  • thanks a million

  • I'm only talking about the camera. The camera is one of the Note 8's few shortcomings. I Didn't say anything about anything else other than it's still great for the price. I posted photos between Samsung & this phone earlier in this thread to even show the difference between the 2. The biggest difference is how it can't handle low light at all.

  • We a not talking about the price. But anyway is your opinion. In my opinion note 8 is better. More fast, touch Id very fast even with wet finger you can unlock. Battery life very long then Samsung. Camera, performance very good. Original lock app, you can lock message, gallery, contacts using touch ID. I'm thinking to sell my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge and buy Huawei P9 plus... Very good phone Also. Or wait for mate 9. The phone is spectacular

  • I had both phones too. The Note 8 can't handle low light at all! It's super grainy. Smasung's S7 & S7 Edge are the best phones on the market according to most tests. Both video & picture are so much better than the Note 8. So again I say... That's crazy talk!! Also this phone is less than half the price of those 2 phones too. It's one of the small trade offs.

  • Nothing to worry about. The phone is wonderful. My is Chinese version also EDI -AL10. Gold, 4Gb, 64 GB. Friend you will love the phone. Big screen but feel good on hand. All applications of Google you can download on Huawei App, including Play store. Many applications Chinese you can uninstall. But you can't uninstall Huawei Chinese App such as, vmal, Huawei club, hi care and others. 100℅ you will like.

  • Lol... I have both phones. I know what I'm saying. 4k vs 1080, you a compering the video, of course in that case s7 edge is better. But compering the picture that is 2160p for both, in photo quality Note 8 is better the Samsung s7 edge.

  • It's actually marked to ship in 4 days on the Lenovo US store, I don't know why that one website wrote 4-5 weeks but it's 4-5 days.

  • 4-5 week wait before ship on the phab 2, bah

  • hello everyone, i will buy the note 8 from china, my friend is travelling there. But to those who bought the chinese version, is there anything which i need to take into consideration, anything to check or worry about, like the Huawei ID someone posted a comment on and so? Also, i am thinking of asking the seller to start the phone and set it to english and if possible remove the chinese apps, do you think this is a good idea. Also, if possible, can you please inform me which LTE bands this phone works on to see if the 4g works in my country. Its my first time a buy a phone from outside my country, and am a bit worried, appreciate your help. thanks

  • Riffy, you rock man. Where did they say there'd be no US/International release though? Also, did anyone else have problems with their google accounts on it? SOmeone here mentioned their contacts wouldn't load. I'm google-dependent. I'm clearly on the line between getting this phone or getting the Phab 2 Pro that is allegedly coming out ... today. :)

  • Hi Ryan, Wait - I thought the phone itself (forgive me, not tech-inclined) doesn't have the radio itself to match those bands. Is the ability to use the phone on the bands simply firmware? I just want to be sure that if I buy this Chinese version and do what you said, that I would be able to use it on LTE in the USA. Thanks. :)

  • Sorry, one more question for those using it on T-Mobile because I didn't understand from the comments: Does the phone allow texting/calls over wi-fi? Because if so, I don't care if I only get H+, but if it doesn't work over wifi, then I'll have a problem because I have poor reception where I live. Thanks!

  • There is no way that the Note 8's camera is better than the S7 Edge! That's down right crazy talk! 4k vs 1080p.. Note 8 can't even handle low light... The camera is not the Note 8's strong point.

  • Hi Guys I'm using this phone for 1 month. Actually the specifications is Different in same aspects. The front camera is 8 megapixel not 5 mp. Resolution 1440 x 2560 pixels with 560 ppi pixel density. I'm using also thes Samsung S7 edge, but the camera of Huawei Note 8, is more better than s7 edge. I was expecting buy the Samsung note 7 but with this problem of explosion I prefer jump to Huawei phone's. Battery life is amazing the phone performance is amazing. I think I will buy the next mate 9 also.

  • I am in netherlands waiting for this beast ... should be here in couple of days... only concern is the taxes on it.. have no idea how much they ll charge if anyone had any past experience with taxes on europe import please share

  • I'm also on bell and it works great

  • I don't know where you are getting that number but I own the note 8 and have ran the AnTuTu benchmark and it scored 97000

  • I am and I also use it on bells network, works fantastic.

  • That actually helps! Thanks for the detailed response! Now I can't wait to get my hands on the device on Monday if nothing! I'm still looking for a way around the front facing camera not having flash. Any recommendations? Someone mentioned an app called FaceLight. Will have to test. I'm also wondering if a custom Rom Would allow the camera app to flash the screen. Any suggestions would be great. I'm not a big pic person, but it's one of those things that could have been included.

  • That doesn't have anything to do with the notification setting. Let say if you are not getting new message notification, maybe you turn off the protection for that app. You can go to battery manager, under "protected app", if you want to get new message notification, make sure you enable the protection for that app. This is a new function on Huawei's phones to save battery. If you disable the protection for a specific app, that means the app will not refresh itself once yo7 closed it. To get notifications for new message/email, you have to turn on the protection. So the app will still run even you lock you phone. Other Android phones always have all the apps protected, it will use a bit more battery, Huawei's giving you an option to disable it only if you really need to save battery. Hope it helps.

  • Turn off and turn on your mobile data.

  • Hi can anyone please help me? So i j got my phone today and im on tmobile.... And from the start of the device... It just gives me the 2g network i tried turn on all the options from the setting menu and it still give me the 2g i heard that in US it does give you 3g or H+ on tmobile but its just not going through right now... So can anyone help me with that and i did put my card in sim 1 slot....

  • Yes! In the notification panel & status bar settings. Battery percent next to icon or in icon.

  • Silver/Grey with a white front or gold is your only options. No black! I have the grey.

  • I have no idea. I have an android wear watch. I have never ever looked at the colored led ever. :-p Yeah the phone does have a horribly active background app killer! It's a pain to work around. Seems no matter how you set it, it still kills most apps. Like this phone needs THAT much battery savings. I'm hoping for a rom to fix that.

  • Sweeet! Thanks! I also had this question as well for users with the device: "How are your notifications? Does the phone alert you via the led light when they all come in? Some users are saying they don't always get them. They have to open the app before the notification start popping up. Have you experienced that?"

  • Aliexpress is like $25 - $35 cheaper. I remember I got my phone in 4 days with Aliexpress back in September.

  • Yes, you can enable the battery percentage. Just go to Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Battery Manager, then scroll all the way to the bottom, and turn on the "Remaining battery percentage".

  • I did. I cancelled my order and purchased it from vopmart.com. It was about the same price and I had it in my hands 5 days after my purchase.

  • Is there an option to put the battery percentage beside or in the battery icon at the top? I keep seeing a few videos with no indication in the battery. Finally got some traction on my device. It's looking like Monday for me.

  • Is thier black color of this phone ? I checked in Amazon, Honor web site and only goled and silver white is avalaible . I never seen black of this phone any where please advise .

  • Which color you get??! Is it black?! Or just there is no black at all??

  • Good really good to hear that Thanks

  • Of course will be available in middle east but maybe will take a couple of weeks or a month to arrive. . I'm from Jordan and still waiting this beast for a 40 days to now , I don't know why everything taking this long time to arrive in middle east Anyway call Huawei Agents in your country and ask them

  • Hahaha that's a bummer! :-/ But again, for that price, guess you can't complain. I hope a software update addresses that. How are your notifications? Does the phone alert you via the led light when they all come in? Some users are saying they don't always get them. They have to open the app before the notification start popping up. Have you experienced that?

  • Will be available in Iraq within 3-4 weeks

  • again with the question, anyone heard if this devise will be available in the middle east and in which countries. I dont understand why Huawei are being so conservative on disclosing info on the release of it, i didint get an answer from them on their facebook page, i sent them an email to both honor and huawei but no answer. can you please assist thanks

  • Aaahhhh... yeah... no flash! :-)

  • How fast is it at AT&T H+? Can someone please post a speed test result? And in which area?

  • What I'm saying is, does the screen create its own flash when you take a selfie picture? Or is there no flash associated with the front camera? My Note 7 and S7 Edge did not have a dedicated light that flashed when you took selfies, but the screen would flash bright white to give you light in a dark room.

  • That's good to hear! What part of the country are you in? Im in Louisiana I asked AT&T if it would work, said they needed the IMEI # to tell me

  • I am using it with AT&T, the only problem is you can't get 4G LTE, but that's not a problem for me, H+ is pretty fast...

  • I really want to purchase this monster but cant find anything saying it will work with AT&T in the US. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?

  • Maybe I'm not understanding what you're asking. It flashes black like a fake shutter thing. *shrug* I do miss the 4k videos!! They look so much better when scaled back down & are more future proof. I have a 4k monitor at home. You really notice the difference. But oh well, the price makes up for that one downfall.

  • Thanks for confirming that. I don't really use 4K recording even when I had it, so not a big loss. I was hoping the front camera had a dedicated flash or at least the screen flashing white to brighten the surroundings a bit. Definitely wasn't expecting you to say it turns "black" hahaha

  • I don't think the guys over at AliExpress knows what they are talking about. I got this message below: "CICI XIE VSTAR 2016-10-26 20:26:20 Dear Sir, Good day! The maximum micro SD card of this phone supports is 128GB, it does not supports 256GB..." You have been having no issues with your 256gb card, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. I got the 64gb model of the device. They are all from the same region so no reason to believe your model is any different either.

  • Screen turns black for a split second when it takes a picture. As for the 4k... I'll say it again. Neither the front nor the back do 4K. It's 1080p max. Here's a screen shot of the video record settings on the back camera:

  • Nice! I have the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge right now which I am about to give up for this phone. I'm glad the speaker is louder. I will certainly be using it for a lot of media. I'm on T-Mobile as well. I know the phone only gets 3G and not 4G or LTE, but that's good enough for me. Does the screen flash when you take a selfie in the dark like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and Samsung S7 and edge? Also, I am seeing more conflicts with 4K recording. Some sites are saying the back camera can record 4K but the front can't, whereas others are saying neither front nor back can record in 4K? Appreciate you taking the time away from your awesome device to answer these queries! :-D

  • I have a pile of Samsung crap too. None of it at all useful cuz it was pretty much all only usable by one device. LOL I actually got 2 SD cards from the whole Samsung Note 7 trash fire. hehe

  • I get better call quality on this, on T-Mobile, than I have on any phone I've ever had with them. I've had all the Samsung Notes 3-7 with a few SEdges mixed in. I don't know if it's cuz I'm on a different band than most or what. But both my mother & myself... it improved our call quality! (She also lives in a congested area in a different state.) I get less internet lag & drops too! The speaker isn't "loud" they all suck on all phones really. But it's louder than any of the Samsung's. Maybe a little bit more clear too. But definitely loudER but not loud by any means. I still prefer bluetooth. :-p

  • Ok, great! I hope the unit I get leans more towards a cooler blue than the red or yellow. Better if it were pure white, but AMOLED displays are never perfect. Also, what do you think about call quality? I don't see anyone talking about that online. I live and work in the heart of NYC. It's really loud. I need a loud earpiece volume.

  • Sweeeet! Thanks @Riffy13 That's where mine came from as well. I got a few memory cards and gear VRs from the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 debacle! haha.

  • The honor 8

  • I haven't noticed any color issues at all. It's a really nice screen! If anything, mine seems cooler... like blue instead of a warm orange or red tint.

  • Yes it can! I have the 256gb SD card I got from Samsung when I got the Note 7. Haven't had an issue with it at all. Kind of ironic actually. hehe

  • Also, can anyone tell me how the white balance is on the device? I am always skeptical of AMOLED displays because they tend to have a red or yellow tint when viewing white backgrounds. I have had several Samsung devices with that issue.

  • Can anyone tell me if this phone can handle a 256gb memory card? I'm seeing conflicting info on the web.

  • Would you kindly like to make a compact phone of this device. Why you people make this type of large device :( don't understand..

  • very very very good note 8

  • Go ahead with Chinese version, during the initial installation you will be given a choice to use many languages, including English and Dutch. I use English. One week of test drive, so far so good. The only cumbersome was a process to get Huawei ID, had to use TunnelBear for it, worked from "Hong Kong".

  • Why you need sar info,do you afraid to get radiation therapy??? The phone has normal SAR radiation like Lg,Huawei,Samsung and other phone in the market today and the phone is dedicated only for China not for Europe or other countries in the world, and I have honor note 8 about 1 months ago i bought form Hong Kong website so I think my radiation is completely normal so my D..K is still up when I need it

  • i live in the Netherlands and i want to buy honor note 8. but i can only find one with chinese apps and no dutch language. Do i have to wait till a good one comes out?

  • Neither cameras do 4k, front or back.

  • Does the front facing camera support 4k recording. I have seen many websites stating it does and doesn't. Can someone with a device please let me know if it does

  • you are talking about the 5.2 inch honor 8 but this is the honor note 8 with 6.6. inch. It is not listed on the website you mentioned

  • When you guys get your phones come join us on the forum My username there is clownmodes... cheers

  • I need informations about the "SAR Value" of the Honor Note. It is impossible to find something about it. Who can help me ? Thanks a lot.

  • I purchased mine from Vopmart. Very quick transaction and they take Paypal which was a plus for me.

  • It happened to me, just confirm the transaction with your Credit Card company and then place another order.

  • Thank you I appreciate it! Anyway, I placed an order but after 6 hr my order has been cancelled due to verification process and Aliexpress wants me to upload more information / Pictures ,etc... I dont understand why there asking me this, As I already called my credit card company to authorized the transaction.. My apology if this is not the correct forum... Did you guys encounter this kind of issue?

  • I believe that's the same person I bought my 2nd one from for my mother. I've gotten up to 12 on T-Mobile's H+.

  • Buy from this guy because 159 people before you bought the same phone from this guy, including myself. He has 97.8% positive feedback.

  • How's your data speed on T-Mobile network? Another user said he got about 8mb down on T-Mobile. Thanks.

  • I brought from etotalk.com yesterday I think it's safer than Aliexpress

  • I am thinking of buying this phone off of aliexpress.com and I wanted to know whether its safe to buy it there and how I can be sure whether the phone is geniune?

  • Nice to hear.. Please tell us about the processor capabilities and camera quality. Thanks

  • Just got mine Chinese "big boy" last Wednesday here in The Netherlands. Had some time to get used to EMUI and install Google Play Store & other beloved Google apps. After mine previous Nexus 5 (2013) with pure Android 6.01 that was a little bit a struggle. But such a decent screen and specs makes this phone lovable for it's price, which is here ~400 Euro for 128Gb version (so long 800 Euro Pixel XL!). Made some comments on Cyanogenmod unofficial forum, to get a support of this phablet. We'll see, when it becomes popular enough. As for benchmarks (Atutu and BasemarkOS II), Honor Note 8 lays in between Nexus 6P and Galaxy S7. But the screen, mmm! :) And the battery! So far the connectivity in NL is working fine for Vodafone and KPN (dual sim). Though it shows 4G in the status bar, I am not sure if it's LTE or not. Don't really care. Speed test shows 82.25 Mbps download and 46.71 Mbps upload, which is twice bigger than mine home wifi!

  • Got mine from vopmart. Can anyone recommend a glass protector? One I got on Amazon doesn't fit right. Using mine on t-mo btw, all's good, really happy with it so far! Still needs to be de-Chinese-ified though

  • Using in the USA, works on AT&T HSPA+ which is 4G, but no LTE support; who cares the HSPA+ is fast enough for daily use. Was looking for a phone like this for a long time and thanks to the Note 8 now I can finally stop the search. Checking on frequencycheck.com shows this phone has all the bands for at&t LTE but its possible that a future firmware update will allow usage. Anyways, if you want to use this phone in the US with AT&T or Straight Talk (blue att sim), go for it! it will not disappoint.

  • With its stats and a Mali 880 GPU + 4Gb ram and dual band AC WiFi it needs a micro HDMI out and would out pace most media boxes on the market, not sure how the CPUs Plural would compete with Octacore Arm S912 (doubt favorably) but hardware decoding of RV 9,10 & 265 format I bet it could do great. My Note 7 does even on mobile data 4G LTE

  • In USA at current. Using a recalled Note 7. THEY REALLY WANT IT BACK!!! I would love the screen size on the Honor 8. I would rather have the Mate 9 256/6Gb but with Honor 8 screen size. The dual SIM / Expandable memory would come in very handy moving from place to place & Pixel XL is only 5.5 inch with no Dual SIM

  • For those looking for roms and what not - here you go: - Google Translate required for English readers. If someone can find a way to make an AOSP rom and get rid of EMUI, that would be amazing. I'd do it myself but I do not know how.

  • Not sure Sam. For me, I'll wait until Jarir or eXtra have their own stocks. It might take some time though because right now, they just started selling Honor 8. Hope before end of this month, Honor Note 8 will be available too.

  • Hey, thanks for the help, will check the website, but have you heard if it will be released in KSA?

  • I know is ridiculus they didnt produced the black version! I hate black bezel but love the phone! I just bought the gold version and bought a black tempered glass.. Ta..Da.. :)

  • To add in my comment from the post that I made below (just before this post), that Huawei should also release the BLACK version of the Honor Note 8. Why focus on other colors such as gold or silver when this phone has a thin border around its display when it is on. The black color would make the black border less visible. I really need to talk to the person in charge of making and releasing this phone. I can give the company "common sense" ideas on how to make a lot of money on the Honor Note 8. I will give the "common sense" advices for FREE.

  • I cannot believe that Huawei does not release this phone in the USA. They would make so much money doing so because the Samsung Note 7 is no more and there are a lot of people that like big phone in the USA. If I was the head of the Huawei Honor Note division, I would focus more on the Honor Note 8 instead of the Honor 8. The Honor 8 is nothing special because we already have Samsung S7 and other high-end 5.5" Android phones (LG V20/Google Pixel, etc...)

  • Thanks for the heads up.

  • Hi! I think you should check the Honor webpage instead of Huawei. Huawei are for other Huawei model phones whilst Honor, is for Honor phones released. Anyways, still waiting as well here in KSA.

  • Thanks a lot, I'm gonne order one this week

  • So its not officially available in the stores yet, i dont want to buy the chinese version, plus i dont trust buying it online, i was hoping it was officially released. No one seems to know about this phone which is pretty weird, even on their facebook page, Huawei always say refer to a retailer, and most of the retailers never heard of this phone. Shame since this phone is a beast, and it would would majorly sell in the middle east.

  • In uae Jadopado is dealing this item from uae aed @1359 to 1999, but it's Chinese version, I hope they will...

  • Also in Canada and have 4G no problem on both Fido and Rogers (dual sim FTW)

  • Forum is up and running

  • Hi, Using it in Vancouver Canada on both Rogers and Fido. I'm 4G'd no problem

  • Thanks alot,do you happen to know which stores it is available and for which price, i live in beirut but can get it from dubai

  • I upgraded from my mate7 and in Love with it it rund my fav games watching Anime on that is Great and the Battery can Last very Long

  • It is already available in store in UAE.

  • Does anybody try it in Canada? I'm with Bell and I really want this phone, thanks

  • I have the phone and can tell you that score means nothing. It plays all of my games without a hitch.

  • Anybody knows if this device will launch in the middle east and when?there is not much info is available on the net. Thanks

  • simple. it's honor not huawei.

  • Best phone overall except the weak SoC that scores on Antutu 84156 only imagine this with sd8201 omg Im already sold

  • Came in 10 days from Hong Kong to UK. Works on Three giving 3G and 4G. Seems to be Android 6.0 rather than 6.01. Like other people here I'm very impressed with battery life, speed and screen. I also have Sony Z Ultra and the Note 8 manages to be a tiny bit smaller with a larger screen (6.6" instead of 6.4") Implementation of Google Play is good but I have one app (FlightRadar24) that can't see that I've paid for extensions. May be the app rather than the phone. Sound quality with Flacs is good and it can drive my 702 headphones (60 ohm) at a good volume. To me the screen size is perfect, large enough to read easily and display lots of information, small enough to fit in my jacket or even trouser pockets. It means I rarely have to carry a tablet or laptop. I have a 128gb card installed and 128gb of on-board memory. My first laptop in 1999 was 40gb and cost 1000 UKP. How things change - Amazing!

  • why the phone is not listed at all on huawei official website

  • I guess I still go for the Lenovo P2

  • It supports. But for huawei charger only.

  • Does it has fast battery charging function or Quick Charge ability???

  • N/m I figured it out

  • I was very interested in this phone but unfortunately Huawei in my country (Israel) will not suply it. I do not see why. I realy hope huawei will start selling it soon even here.

  • OK. So this device is amazing. One of a very few gripes if they the Google Now launcher will not show up when ovary to change the default launcher. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • One Ugly Surfboard! to big

  • The US division of Honor said there is no US release & they didn't think there was going to be an international version either. Shame too cuz this phone is a little beast! Loving mine!!!

  • It's not Note version,its just Honor 8

  • Released in India already @Rs 29000

  • Huawei honor note 8 it will release in India or not

  • Thanks alot, non of the official retailers here could provide me with any info on the release date, as if they never heard of this phone. Looking forward

  • Mine is currently sitting in customs and will be delivered tomorrow! I see that someone was able to root it. Is there any way we can get instructions in lamens terms? Sadly, XDA still has not created a forum for the phone. Is anyone here working on custom roms? I'd love stock or Paranoid Android on this beast.

  • i ordered a silver one , it has a silver back but white front

  • Of course will be available in middle east, but I think will take some time In Jordan where I living, will be to buy in the end with this month

  • Yeah, I checked them but they are powered by older Kirin 950 processor due to which they can't record 4K videos. Only other phones with Kirin 955 are P9 and P9 Plus but their camera sensors aren't 4K capable. Huawei should release a smaller variant of this device with this same Kirin 955 processor and 4K recording ability like this device.

  • Hi guy's so I got my honor note 8 1 months ago and is just brilliant but I wasn't sure wich kind of gorilla glass have on it and if I need protection for and I ask them and today I got the email back and they let me know the phone has Gorilla Glass 3 protection so is hard enough, no need anything else on the screen so. Just for the guys who have no idea about that detail like coz as I saw nowhere tells what kind of protection has the phone

  • I have the grey/silver one in front of me :-p The front of it is actually white.

  • The grey one is there. I just checked. The front looks almost black and the back looks silverish. Keep scrolling down.

  • Last time I checked (2 mins ago) there is only gold or silver.

  • You can pick up the black one on Aliexpress.com Nevermind... it's grey.

  • I have had this phone for about two weeks now. It's the best phone I've had!. I came from Note 4. It is so fast and responsive. I'm in UK and can access 4g. I managed to set it up how I want it with Google apps and the like. Slightly annoying that the native voice app cannot be changed to English. The Camera is OK. This is the only discrepancy with my Note 4. Normal light and night time (no flash) is comparable but the flash is bad... Battery life is just phenomenal. Slightly freaky as I've never experienced anything like it. 2 days, normal use (videos, calls, texts and occasional games) and it was still at 36%. The screen is gorgeous! Really love the phone. Draws plenty of admiring comments...especially with the dot matrix cover.

  • Just give me the black one and take my money...all of them! Is that so difficult? We only need that absolutely normal color option.

  • quick question - what carrier are you using? I am on BELL and just ordered this phone. this phone says it supports LTE Band 7, which Bell also claims to Support. Just wondering which carrier you are using and your experience on signal quality and speed here in Canada. thanks!!!

  • Does anyone know if this phone will be available in the middle east. I am from Lebanon, and really interested in this phone. thanks

  • Hi,having owned the 2,id say the camera on the mate 8 is better, the camera on both isn't great, but it isn't shit either, but for me the mate 8 had a better camera, but hey,i didn't buy it for the camera,so it's down to what you want from a phone really.

  • I have the Galaxy Note 7. My first note 7 didn't burst into flames but had lag issues and freeze up issues. I took it back due to the battery recall debacle and my replacement has the same problems. What a pile of c£@p! Samsung are going to try to remotely access my phone to see what the problem is but I'm not holding up much hope. I'm certainly not sending it in for repair, instead I'm going to demand a refund and I'm going to buy the honour note 8 128gb. Looks great.

  • Hi... If I could make a comparison between the camera of notes 8 and 8 mate, how could you tell me?

  • Best so far is 10 hours on screen time, wow.

  • Hi,no problems what so ever,i came from the mate 8,to this beast, and it's so smooth, and faster than the mate 8,the 2k screen is just wow,the battery is unreal, getting 4g here in Ireland, even the reception in the house on mobile data is so much better than the mate 8,its a big big phone, but now I have it a few days,i'll never go back to a 6inch screen lol.also the speaker is very loud, just loving it.best phone I ever had.for the price as well.

  • Hi so have you looked at the honor 8 the main phone in the honor 8 series at 5.2" or the honor v8 which is the 5.7" version of the honor 8 series.

  • Anyone knows regarding release in India this mobile iam waiting for this mobile since announcement

  • I'll say it again... The US division has stated there is no plans for a US version of this phone. They didn't even think there was going to be a international version.

  • I am hoping that this "Premium Edition" will be the US version in BLACK. I am due for a new phone but I will wait till November to see if Huawei will release this black version when they introduce the Mate 9.

  • No, this phone is only available in China. Lazada did mentioned ship from overseas

  • The phone is great, now all they need to make is a smaller 5.2 version of this phone as 6.6 inch is bit too huge.

  • No problem. I came from the Samsung S7/Note 7. You do lose the voice over LTE thing on T-Mobile, WiFi calling & the high speeds. I haven't noticed a difference since I got the phone. If anything, I've noticed I actually get better signals & speeds in my super congested area. Not to mention this phone is crazy fast compared to the Samsung phones for some reason.

  • Riffy - Thanks so much for confirming. I initially was ecstatic to see that and frequencycheck.com listing the "premium" version as fully compatible, but this saved me from taking a chance on a device that wouldn't get me the same experience I've had with the Mate 8.

  • I ordered mine on Vopmart.com and it came in about a week and a half, i got the aedi-al10 version 128gb. My honest opinion after playing with it for a few days now is that the speeds (data speed)on it are only barley slower than the xperia z5 i replaced it with, battery life is amazing at 50% im running about 4 hours sot. the only problem i had is it would not let me bring in my contacts from my google account i tried everything so what i did was just export my contacts from my google account place the file on my phone and voila imported contacts! Has anyone had any issues with this phone so far? im not seeing to many issues.

  • That site is wrong. EDI-AL10 is the only one out. There might be an international version later but they haven't announced it. There is no US version at all & no plans for one. There is no premium version either. A lot of sites got this & the Honor 8 mixed up. Could be what happened. I have this phone & use it on T-Mobile. Again, 8 Mbs is as fast as you're going to get.

  • On here, the "premium" version shows US bands, but I'm trying to find out if this information is incorrect or if there actually is a model that does contain all the bands: According to that and frequencycheck.com, the "premium" version is model EDI-AL10. It would kinda make sense because my Mate 8 has all the LTE bands for T-Mobile. I'm just wondering whether that translated for the Honor Note 8. I'm hoping that people posting on here, that have the device, can indicate their model number of the phone they're using.

  • Had to look for it in all these posts: The phone only has LTE 1, 3, 7, 38, 39, 40 & 41 In the US we use.. 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 17 25, 26, & 41. That's only one Sprint band that overlaps. So no US LTE at all. About 8 Mbs is going to be your top speed on T-Mobile. I haven't found any issues at all with that speed. WiFi is pretty much everywhere nowadays.

  • That's the chinese version & also the only version there is for now. :-) It has no US LTE bands whatsoever. So I wouldn't say fully compatible. It's fast enough though. I live in a really congested area with only one tower. Mine actually does better on these bands. I don't know if it's cuz I'm prolly next to the only one using them or what. But when using chrome pages don't lag out all the time like they did on my old phones. If I remember correctly... only band 12 is compatible with T-Mobile. The phone doesn't have 2 or 4 bands.

  • For those of you that have posted using on T-Mobile, what model number did you purchase? I just looked at frequencycheck.com and the Premium version (EDI-AL10) is supposed to be fully compatible with T-Mobile, including bands 2, 4 and 12. I am very tempted to pull the trigger now. Initially

  • Hi, can anyone answer my question? I know it is from internet but I do not want to buy it from internet. Can anyone tell me is this product selling in the phone shop?

  • For the love of all creation...PLEASE bring a phone with these same specs to the States!

  • You can just delete the Chinese apps,i was thinking the same thing, but I went ahead and bought this beast, you can install all Google apps including Google+ no problem, and the apps u can't delete you can disable all of them, theres not that many either.best phone I ever had.

  • It is massive compared to the mate 8,but after having this note 8,i don't think I will ever go back to 6 inch screens again.

  • Hi , has this model comes to Malaysia market? I know is in lazada but is this product in Malaysia ?

  • I can't understand why they don't release the black version of this fantastic phone. Huawei plans to release a Mate 9 in brown and pink... and they doesn't make available the black Note 8 which they have already announced? I really don't get it, for me is a dealbreaker. Same non sense color variations as they did with the P8 Max.

  • a true comparison with Samsung Note 5 and Huawei note 8

  • When ..... When ..... When available

  • I know is in lazada but is it available in the phone market in Malaysia?

  • I'm using the Honor Note 8 in the US with T-Mobile. After I unlocked it the SIM went in and I connected immediately with no issues. I get 7-8 mb download. Not LTE but very fast for everything including video. I'm super happy with the phone. Smooth as butter.

  • Got a link, cause I can't find it...

  • Who says they're releasing it? Looks like they won't, as the Note 8 has been out for a while now.

  • Black version will definetely sell 50% extra. Will cover those black bezel borders... I will definetely buy the black! Cmon Honor.... hurry up..

  • how to flash internal version to Chinese version of mobile can u say thanks in advance

  • Rooted! :-) Used the twrp img file from this: It didn't write the recovery so I did that with fastboot.exe Installed SuperSU with TWRP ROOTED!! Woot!

  • I will wait for couple weeks before pulling the trigger. I will go with Chinese one to save money and flash international rom when it is availble.

  • No black!?!? BAH! That's no fun! You can get the chinese version from Ali for only $379 for the 32gb that's including shipping. I'll keep my $100 & stay with the chinese. :-p

  • I dont think they will release the black color.I see gearbest is having a presale for the international version(silver and gold only,~$480 for 32Gb version).

  • I'm fine with a chinese version as long as I have root! Even better if there are roms made but I can live with just root. I'm waiting on a bootloader unlock code to test out a root method, hopefully tonight. I want the black version!! I didn't realize the silver/grey one was white on the front. Makes the black border around the screen really stand out. Great phone tho! Still loving this thing!! The battery life is nuts! It's about the same as when I had a zerolemon battery on my old Note 3. Can easily get 2 days out of it.

  • Does this phone offer hotspot? On my Note 4, I am able to turn on my T-Mobile hotspot. I am from the USA.

  • Usually Chinese and International version have the same hardware specs so buying Chinese version and flash international rom will save us some money. Yes,i am also waiting for the black(grey) version to be released, hopefully next month.

  • Even with the international rom flashed, it does not guaranty it will get extra bands. I am hope they will release the black version.

  • I am also waiting for international version.. I don't want the Chinese version because I owned Huawei mediapad x 1 Chinese version, it doesn't have Google related software and lots of unwanted Chinese apps, and we can't install some apps like Google+..

  • Yes of course Huawei note 8 International version will available worldwide including India from November 2016, but u can get the Chinese version from online around 400$, but the international version's price will be higher than the Chinese version.

  • Is this mobile going to release in India or not please reply for this comment thanks in advance

  • Thanks I am still waiting to note 8 to arrive in Sweden, Is it much bigger then Mate 8 I didn't think 6. 6 inch vs 6 inch screen sound's much more but the bigger the screen is better for me 👍😂

  • They might release the international version next month, which might support more bands in US.However,u can buy the Chinese version now and flash the international firmware when it comes out.

  • Is this the premium version, and does it work in estonia networks in 4g etc? thanks in advance

  • All these questions were answered before & only a few posts deep but.. a) 8mbs ish on T-Mobile or AT&T fine for the things you mentioned. b) There is no US release. c) No US release, not sold in the US. Aliexpress or other china sellers are you best bet.

  • Hey, I've been following this phone for awhile hoping that it would come out in the USA. So I have a few questions: a) If I bought it and used it now in the USA, I know I won't get LTE, but does anyone know how "fast" its internet would be. My primary use for internet when I don't have wi-fi are: - Google Maps - Music streaming (not a huge deal, but I use it) - E-mails - Occasional streaming to my tablet for e-mailing b) Anyone hear about when it would come out in the USA? I keep seeing the same article that simply says that they *plan* to release it. c) Where's the cheapest to buy in the USA? Thanks a lot!

  • Hello, ive came from the mate 8,and this phone is just smoother and quicker, and the 2k screen is stunning, battery is a beast on this,i have 4g here in Ireland, and it's super fast, camera is not as good as mate 8,but it's not shit either,128gb of internal memory,4gb ram,its a big big phone, both it's well worth it,do I miss my mate 8 over this,no way.

  • Plays youtube vids great! Loud & gorgeous screen. I've even cast them to a chromecast no prob. The phone is super snappy/fast! It actually makes the S7 feel slow & laggy. I have no idea why there is such a difference, almost the exact same apps are installed on both. So it has to be the hardware or lack of bloatware. I think I'm getting better reception than my previous Samsung phones got. No LTE but stronger call signal. I'm totally good with the speed it has. If I'm doing anything that needs faster I'm usually near WiFi. Size wise... here is a potato quality usb cam pic of it next to a S7, that's 5.1": Here are the pictures of my dog in low light. Ignore the not finished paint on the floor boards & all the dog drool on the couch. :-p S7: Note 8: Note 8 with flash:

  • Do you have any problems play back youtube video?

  • I am with Tmobile and i see you are having a very good reception and data speed. My phone has 4.7" screen and i think it is small but i cant imagine how much bigger 6.6" screen is.

  • It is a little big at first but I've already gotten used to it. Anything beyond 7" would totally be to big. But... Yes it fits! No skinny jeans tho. :-) It's really thin too! & have not found a single thing that's put me off of it cuz of it's size. Just be aware of the limited bands.

  • Does it fit well in your pocket? Any inconvenience with its size? I am still debating between this and Note 5. Thank you

  • Well..that's right..I have already uninstalled some of them and deactivated others as well.and to be honest I am getting well with now..the only issue is creating Huawei ID.

  • Oh yeah! The price makes up for the 3 missing things. High end camera, wireless charging & nfc. But! I think it's actually a lot snappier than the S7 & Note 7, when I had one. The bluetooth audio is louder & clearer in the car I noticed for some reason. Speaker on the phone is a LOT louder than any phone I've ever had. I've used the phone a lot today, even played some exploding kittens for an hour or so. Battery is at 59% & screen on time is almost 3 hours. Yesterday I think I got 6 hours screen on time from about 60% to 10%. Just wish I could figure out or disable all the power saving things. Noticed my android wear watch doesn't update a lot of it's info it gets from the phone till I turn on the phone's screen. Pretty annoying! & of course... Needs root!!!

  • Yes i'm agreed with you but S7 cost 700 euro and note 8 370 that's the big difference between

  • Pictures I took in dim light in the kitchen. The Honor Note 8 doesn't do to well in low light. S7: Note 8:

  • Anyone know how to get rid of this keyboard from replacing the current keyboard on password fields? It's going to drive me crazy!!! Never mind found it under keyboard & input settings... Secure input. :-)

  • It is already come to malaysia from Lazada.

  • I'm getting up to 8mps too on T-Mobile. Think I'm actually getting better reception than I was on the S7. LOVE the screen! My S7 looks like it's for ants now. The fingerprint unlock is crazy fast! EMUI tho... keeps killing my background services even tho they are whitelisted! There are some chinese UI elements that are stuck in chinese. Updates for one, the dialer has a whole page in chinese, just random stuff. The memory management is really good when it's not killing all the accesory services. Keeps a lot of apps running without reloads. Camera... is ok. Low light is nowhere near the current Samsung phones. I'd say it's on par with a year or 2 ago. I'll have to take a few crappy pics tonight when it's dark of my dirty livingroom & dogs. :-p This phone will rock with root! Even better with a generic rom. The phone is crazy fast & much more responsive than the S7. It's really surprising how fast it feels compared to the S7!

  • Does anyone know if it will come to Greece? Or Europe in general?

  • Thanks a lot, 8 mbs should be good enough

  • You can't get rid of all Chinese apps coz I have Honor Note 8 as well Chinese version but you can deactivate them or Uninstal couple of them and you have no issues to use the phone. I make same and I use the phone as I use to use another European version phone

  • I have Honor Note 8 and i get 8mb/s on h+ speed so is good

  • great phone... I replaced my p8max for the honor note. It's slicker and I get way better reception on my carrier. Always check willmyphonework.com before buying to make sure and they were right in telling me i would have better reception on my carrier than with the P8max. I like the screen a little less than the P8max because it doesn't handle low light as well but nighttime battery management is fantastic so there is very little drain when not in use. Pet peeves - Nova Launcher doesn't play as well as with P8max, perhaps it's Android V. 6 fault. So I ended up using EMUI which isn't all bad. Voice wakeup which was available in english on my chinese p8max is only available in chinese on the honor note 8. The smart draw feature which was working on an off screen with the p8max doesn't work if the screen is off on the honor note 8. All in all I'm pleased with it and I feel better with the improved reception...

  • I think that its better just only because bigger screen. If You need not bigger screen, there is no point to buy Note 8

  • I Have a Mate 7 and Mate 8, Do you guys think Honor mate 8 is gonna be much better then mate 7 & 8?

  • That's nothing new & they were guessing. Honor US division has said there is no US release planned. As I posted before: We have nothing official stating that the Note 8 is coming to the U.S. We advise that you follow our Twitter (@Honor_USA) and Facebook (usahonor) pages for future device releases. If we release the Note 8, it'll be announced there. We can't speak on international devices. If you have questions regarding Honor international devices, we advise that you contact our international support team at hihonor.com/global. (ED)

  • I can't wait for this to come to the US. It will have US LTE bands. Read the link below!

  • I've gotten almost 9 on my S7 loaner phone. Hopefully I'll get the same on the Honor Note 8 whenever fedex delivers it tomorrow.

  • I'm on t-mobile too, I've tried h+ with different phone and the speed was 8mbs

  • I should be able to when I get mine tomorrow. I'm on T-Mobile if that matters to ya.

  • Can you please tell me how's data speed on 3g/h+? I'm ready to buy this phone so this is the only concern so far, thsnks

  • Hi, is this phone in Malaysia market ?

  • Oh yeah! Totally wasn't thinking of that. :-p Anyone manage to get one rooted yet?

  • it is "sim unlocked" so it's usuable anywhere. the other user used dcunlocker for "unlocking the bootloader", which is a different thing.

  • I hope that dc unlocker doesnt mean any risk for the phone like flashing rom etc. Its 100% safe? Can You please upload some camera images in daylight, original 13MPX size? Or send them to my email, I will make them public. Thanks!

  • Can someone please post Ookla speedtest result at AT&T 3G/H+? I very much like to buy the phone but I'm concerned about data speed.

  • What is data speed on AT&T HSPA+? Please post speed test results

  • So what's data speed? Please post speed test results

  • It didn't come unlocked?

  • I purchased the phone from It was shipped to U.S. via DHL and I received it within 5 days. Excellent phone. Fast, smooth and great screen. BIG!!!. I did the unlock with dc-unlocker.com. I put in the T-Mobile sim card and had no problem at all connecting. Added all of the Google stuff that I'm use to and I am using the phone with no issues. Great phone.

  • Hi guys..just got my note 8 yesterday and it is really awesome everything is grest.but I have the Chinese version so I can't create huawei ID to download themes and so on..and want to get rid of the Chinese apps too..does anybody know how to do so..

  • I'm hoping it'll be a great phone & easy enough for my mother to use too. She's on my family plan on T-Mobile waiting with a recalled Note 7. She's been complaining about how small the loaner S7 is. LOL I'm confident in the hardware of the device from what I've seen on youtube. It's the software side I'm less confident in. If it's just install the play store from their app store... should be golden! Still looking for a root method too. As for the ebay seller... reported that crap! Not that it'll do any thing. Went back & saw they have been doing this for years from the reviews. Will also give a bad review after I get it. Rather pissed about it currently. But... If it's a good fit for my mother, I'll order the 2nd one from Ali & save a bunch of money doing so.

  • Please do come back with your findings, also regarding the display and camera. We need more opinions. And eh, negative feedback I'd say.

  • Totally agree! It has one of the best screens on the market from what I hear. Decent camera, nothing as good as what's on the S7 but not horrible either. Can't wait to get mine! Unrelated vent... Stupid ebay seller lied & mine is coming from china after all. Fedex telling me I'm getting it tomorrow... it's still in china & has been since monday. So much for paying more for faster delivery. Should have just bought it from Ali.

  • Sounds silly. It has the IMX278 sensor which is fine and optimization is the same as on P8 etc, so it's a nice camera. The display only gets praise everywhere so I don't know what those people are whining about. It's a Samsung amoled display for crying out loud.

  • To phone users: I have found some disturbing facts at chineese reviews(Google translator).1) camera images too soft when zoom to 100% and lack of detail (grass, trees). 2.) poor quality display (inaccurate colors, low brightness, colors change when change brightness).Could you please comment it and post somewhere camera images at 100% size?

  • Got it off Aliexpress for USD439.99 for 128GB. Shipping took two weeks, no biggie for me. It was a replacement for a P8max that took a dip in the waters of Siargao. I actually like it better than the P8max. It seems to have better reception where I'm at compared to my P8max. No LTE on ATT but, HSPA is good enough for me. Two speaker grills on the bottom but sound only comes out on one. Maybe just to balance the design as the P8max has only one grill. Higher resolution display does consume more than P8max.

  • Does this phone worth it anyway?! I'm thinking the switch from Samsung s7 edge to this will be a good step since I'm seeking a bigger screen high end cell!!

  • That's why i was wondering when i read the last year on some websites saying it could be possible in the near future!!

  • Dude, it's aluminum... You having a laugh?

  • Guys please,, does it have qi wireless charging???!

  • Buy it from Aliexpress dude

  • I wonder if they'll release this in the Philippines. I'd love to have this coz I'm such a sucker for phablets. Personally, anything smaller than 6 inches is not a phablet. 😚

  • How is gaming on this device? Seems like it lags here...

  • Lol just asked myself that question, do you need a plug adapter for this phone. Cheers

  • Just one other thing mate,do u get a plug adapter with this phone,or do I have to buy this myself

  • cool ordered mine last monday still waiting for some shipping info

  • Hi,thanks for the reply, I'm not on Facebook, but it's fine,I checked with 3,and it will work on their network no problem, just ordered this beast today, can't wait. Cheers.

  • Hi man I don't know be honest coz I use Tesco mobile and tesco don't have 4g at the moment but I suggest you to check out the band on 3 network to be sure is working or not. On tesco is perfect no problem and i have another sim card from 3 and tomorrow I will check if the phone works or not and I can let you know on Facebook. Just put Chris barber and send requests to me

  • 1 week or so

  • I've had really bad experience with aliexpress. Usually takes a month to get anything from then shipped to the US. Ebay was a US seller so I should get it within a week & was only $447. Worth the little extra to not deal with aliexpress. :-) Now to find a root method that works!!

  • Why not order it from aliexpress.com? $418.88 (including shipping) from aliexpress.com and received the phone within a week.

  • Got an answer from Honor about a US release that sounds like there is no plans for one: We have nothing official stating that the Note 8 is coming to the U.S. (ED) Thanks for the info Anon! I went ahead & ordered one off of ebay.

  • No problem at all with calls, sounds are great (loud and clear). I inserted a T-Mobile sim card, and the phone switched to English automatically, nothing is in chinese, I am not sure why people saying that some apps (or others) are stuck in chinese. As to the size, it is a BIG device, but it fits my pocket, not heavy, feels good on hand, and after I play games and watch videos with this, I CAN'T GO BACK to a smaller device... LOL.

  • how long did it take to arrive assuming you bought it from overseas?

  • HI, Happy to find here some precious informations on this phone. I'm in France and after checks mobile is compatible with all frequencies My questions is more about the aggregation possibility on this smartphone. I mean, to have the 4G+, aggregation is necessary. Thanks for your help and return :) Kind Rgds. Gerald

  • Hi,I'm from Ireland also, will this work on the 3 network, I have a Huawei mate 8 and that works great.

  • any 1 knows, can this phone connect to tv using mhl cables?

  • I got my honor note 8 3 weeks ago and in Ireland works great but before to buy the phone I check witch networks working in Ireland and then i check the compatibility with the phone and then i buy it

  • Oh yeah? No problems on T-Mobile other than slow data? No reception problems with voice with the limited bands? How much of it is stuck in chinese? How do you like it? Using it as a daily device? Tempted to get one off ebay & ditch this Note 7 wait.

  • It won't.

  • I can post some on my Facebook page. If I put a link here will it blacklist me from gsm arena?

  • I am with T-Mobile, and I have HSPA+ (this is some what between 3G and 4G). I tested it on watching a HD movie, no lag at all. the download speed is more than 700 KB/s, so guys, don't worry about the 4G Lte, I mean, 700 KB/s is really enough for you to do most of the things.

  • They are not saying much about any other release other than their current China release. I've asked on both Huawei's & Honor's facebook, forums, twitter, etc... Not one answer. Nothing about a international version or US version or no plans for anything but China. Nothing! They're kinda missing a window here in the US with the Samsung battery news & the Phab 2 releasing soon. I wonder if you could get by on 2G or 3G in the US with this phone on T-Mobile or AT&T. WiFi is around a lot, but not everywhere. Hate to have to get one of the Phab 2s when they come out, when this phone has such better specs & looks.

  • Looking at the specs... it only has LTE 1, 3, 7, 38, 39, 40 & 41 In the US we use.. 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 17 25, 26, & 41. That's only one Sprint band that overlaps. :-(

  • I checked the specs sheet. It's lte bands are pretty limited, mostly for Asia. Any app I can use to check which bands work?

  • Does it work on us LTE bands? I have heard otherwise.

  • Yep this was confirmed already. Just 2g I believe

  • Just got the phone 2 days ago. Haven't tested the camera fully yet. Everything is great, lots of simple and useful customization options. The biggest problem I can find, can't use 3g / 4g on both sim cards. Only 1 which is a bummer.

  • I so want this phone! Wish they'd release this phone in the US already! Or at least not disable the bands we use on the international version.

  • Welcome convert, thou art among friends now ;)

  • Got my phone 3 days ago, switched from iPhone 6 Plus, I was waiting for iPhone 7 Plus but was disappointed by the announcement, NO NEW DESIGN... Okay, let's get back to this phone, the 6.6" display is GREAT, photo is slightly better on iPhone 6 Plus. I was an Apple fan, but after I received this phone, I LOVE HUAWEI/HONOR. I (personally) believe that this phone worth more than $700...

  • Anybody knows when the black colour will be relist?

  • i hope there's a review after it is release

  • I won't put any photos via Internet coz I don't have enough time and to be honest the phone is brilliant and please believe me I'm fusy person so I don't like evrething but the phone is moving good as any other big brands like Samsung or Apple and buy the way my wife has iPhone 6S and eaven my wife tells me like iPhone is sheet compared to my phone and Huawei is 390 euro and I paid for iPhone 700 so

  • I have no problem with the glass as I keep the original one with is coming with apply allready on the screen but if you worry about it you can buy and apply yourself antiglare glass from eBay and you got bullet proof, scratches proof and many more, but this is not a problem coz a screen protector is about 2 euros and save the problem and the phone is comming with phone protection in the box as well so the phone won't be damaged easy

  • Congratulations! Could You please be more specific about real-using performance and post some camera shots in full resolution? What phone did You have before this one? Thanks in advance!

  • Just received yesterday. I thought 2k video recording, but only 1080p.

  • The IMX278 sensor is decent to good, not great. It's not high-end, wake up and smell the smelling salt.

  • Well.....thanks for the examples ! I think they're just "good pics" ..nothing more. (Waiting to see others) .

  • Good points, I'm curious too

  • What about real performance? Not games, but real-life perfomance? I found at P9 Plus review something disturbing in here at gsmarena: "The Huawei P9 Plus, just like the P9, begins to experience tiny, but noticeable lag once you fill its homescreens with apps. App switching isn't smooth either, especially if you are swapping heavy apps. There are also some unexplained stutters which occur in both light and heavy-duty games. It might be the GPU, or may be poor handling of resources." And Note 8 has same chipset configuration but much higher resolution!

  • ive just ordered mine from wondamobile now the 7-10 days wait begins

  • Some more samples:

  • Can you tell me - what is the screen glass? Because I had a bed experience with other Huawei phones - the screen was very easy to scratch? Thanks!

  • Thanks for Your reaction. On the contrary, I would like to buy this phone, now I have galaxy note 3, looking for upgrade in every aspect. I found only these camera samples, unfortunately for me at dissapointing quality. Iam glad to hear from You about the camera, can You please post some?

  • I have note 8 and the camera is like Sony Xperia Z 5 not as exactly but is almoust there, so my friend please don't talk until you get the phone in to your hand's and make your self some pictures and the websites are shit coz thy want to put some phons in shadow any. They don't know to set up the camera so they only talk. But I suppose you don't have 400 euros to buy the phone or have you??? Or you only talk

  • Poor camera results? Camera samples:

  • EGlobal-Central-EU that's the link

  • I don't care about Note 5, i don't like it. I'd prefer Honor Note 8 ! I just wrote that comment because found weird that sony imx 278 (Honor) was better than Note 5 camera, that's all. Anyway, does anyone found any reviews about this phone? thx

  • where you bought note 8. Can you provide a link to this page

  • I was given this phone and now I'm trying to use it in the U.S. on Sprint network. I did the unlocking with DC-Unlocker. What SIM card can I use? How do I get this to work with Sprint? Any help would be appreciated.

  • of course, note 5 is better, if you have enough money.

  • I'm not comparing with Note 5 just for fun or because i'm a samsung fan boy. At all. I just did mention Note 5 because a comment below said that the camera of Honor Note 8 was way better than camera of Note 5, and i think it's quite impossible. that's why i did mention Note 5.

  • Why you guys always compare it with Samsung Note 5, think about how much you spent on Note 5, and how much this phone really cost. Apple fans always say iPhone is the best, Samsung fans always say Samsung is the best. So just stop saying this phone is not as good as Note 5, if you don't like this phone, just go to the Note 5 page. Remember, there's always a BETTER phone, STOP comparing. You should choose a phone you LIKE, not the best phone, because there is NO best phone...

  • Okay, it's good but it can be never better than Note 5, for example.. :D

  • not bad, 13MP with OIS, 8MP of front. it has many functions also, such as pro-photo, pro-video, document scan etc.

  • only support LTE band 1,3,7; for UMTS, it support band 1,2,5,8.

  • Can any owners please tell me if the Locale listing menu has Australia in it? Thanks

  • Can anyone put some reviews about the camera vs other competitors ? I'm reading your comments below and I don't understand how a camera sensore "mediocre" like this can do a better job than Note 5, Sony Z5 and so...how??

  • Does it has 4g 850 MHz band

  • You can protect apps from being closed down no problem through the settings.

  • The experience about my Honor note 8 compared with Sony Xperia Z 5 is just perfect choice like the camera is mostly same, speed on honor 8 is way better than Sony, screen is just amazing and the only thing like the honor note 8 don't have is NFC but be onest I never use it so I don't really miss that think. Over all the phone worth all the money

  • Yo guys I got my Note 8 Chinese version because only in China you can buy the phone about 2 weeks ago so I have good experience with. First thing the screen is brilliant and the good thing is when I put Irish sim card on it he jumped stright to English language so the phone switch himself in English so I can set up straight away. Then I saw a tutorial on YouTube about what you can do to install Google play and all Google apps to work without Chinese apps so I go to Hiapp in the Chinese market and i wrote Google and i download all necessary apps like Google play, Google contact's, Google music, chrome and all what I need from Google to get in Google account because Chinese version of any phone you get is coming without any Google apps pre-installed in the system so you have to do it yourself. Then I sync the contract and my account with Google and the phone was ready to do the job in 15 min after I turn it on. Then I deactivate all Chinese apps because I don't need them and i go to Google play store and because I I put my account in it he ask me if I want to install all the apps like I use before on my Sony Z5 and i press yes and in half an hour the phone was redy. I just want guy's to let you know like don't put any sick questions about how the phone is working because is not the case coz the phone is last generation with the latest CPU kirin 955 and in my benchmark shows me 100000 points so a bit under LG G 5 cos he got 120000 so for the price of 340€ IS Just perfect like LG G 5 is 450 and the battery is just like expect 2 day's with quite havy work on it like all the app on Wi-Fi, GSM, games and Facebook coz on my old Sony Xperia Z 5 the battery was only 1 day like is not too bad but not enough. So until now the phone is about perfect. Ohhh and have fast charge and take me 90 min to fill up to 100% like is not to bad. So guy's don't put sick questions like you worried about ram speed and all sick questions because the truth is I think those guy's don't have enough money to buy it so. Enjoy

  • So basically what you're saying you can change that yourself? I mean I wouldn't like my apps to restart every single time if I switch between apps. I mean why else have 4GB of ram

  • Yws i saw that before. The huawei emui shuts the apps down automatically unless theyre protected through settings if you start too many. So actually everything was faster than the Note 5 until he started again amd the apps had to restart on the huawei so were slower. And when would you ever run 12 games in the background anyway?

  • Here check this out, see if you get the same behaviour:

  • I havent noticed any slowdowns at all running multiple apps. Its considerably faster and smoother than my Note 4 though.

  • Sounds like a feature to me ;)

  • This flash washes out all the colours or leaves your subjects with screwed up faces :-)

  • To owners of the Note 8, how is the RAM management on the Note 8? I just saw a video on YT where the Note 5 destroyed the Note 8 in terms of loading apps without restarting. This worries me.

  • Lol that's usually what a flash does xD

  • Coming from a Note 4 this camera is better, though the dual flash blinds your subject before taking the photo. Photos are sharper and are processed faster than the Note 4. Im pretty disappointed with the flash and am looking for solutions on how to remedy this.

  • @Dude & other owners:- actually I am specifically asking about LTE Band 5 as in their official pdf ( band 5 is missing. kindly verify the same from the phone . regards techpro

  • Lte band is there across the variants...

  • i would want to agree with Droid Army that the picture quality is better than note 5 especially there manual setting pro-photo.. even i am coming from Note 5.... its the among'st the best in the business i guess..

  • C'mon man...be serious. How can the camera be better than Note 5 ?? It's impossible! The camera of P8 is just fine, nothing special...they could put a better camera! Just to say, on dxomark, P8 reaches 74 points, Note V 85 points.

  • @ Rated Droid Army and @paulodonfather- thanks a lot for your valuable feedback. one last thing I would like to ask that is there a difference between 32gb and 64gb ROM version? As pdadb.net website indicates that 32gb variant does not has LTE Band 5 ( 850Mhz) whereas 64gb version has it. is it true? regards techpro

  • camera quality is very good , even better than Note 5 (i does compared it) Night shot is superb but need tripod if u want to get dslr quality . really amazing

  • Check out the P8 camera reviews for reference, same camera...

  • @paulodonfather- congratulations for your purchase. What is the camera quality of honor note 8 . we need your honest feedback as the reviews are scarce and English reviews are rare and no body focused on camera quality. we would specifically like to read your review of camera in low light performance regards techpro

  • Same sensor as Huawei P8, which takes great photos

  • yes it supports volte 4G

  • Sorry, does it have the sony imx 278 (same of P9/G8/Mate s) ? It wasn't so good..at all.

  • Please report back with your findings

  • Does the Note 8 support VoLTE??

  • just got delivery from aliexpress from hongkong... great phone..:)

  • It's not coming either. Buying from China is the only way.

  • still unreleased

  • does the honor note 8 get filled with bloatware like the htc and samsung phones?

  • now i am convinced, for a couple of reasons i will buy this phone. i need the usb on the go type with big screen of quality resolution. huawei hurry up.

  • You cannot

  • Does someone know if i can buy this phone in the US?

  • The strange thing is there is a black version (black front, gray back) but it hasn't been released (yet)... Wonder if it's still coming...

  • No black variety :(

  • Is there any heating problem with the phone ?

  • Please post the brightness of the screen

  • [email protected] thanks!

  • Give me your email add i send it to u

  • I hope the reviews of this phone are positive.

  • I have the phone and I am using it more than 2 weeks and it amazing fast and resolution. I just need to know how to move the Apps from internal to SD card. I made Storage Card is default. But also when I download any App it goes to internal memory directly. Any help?

  • Hi Droid, Can you please upload photos taken by the stock camera? Unmodified, straight from the camera, with EXIF please. Hopefully with variations like bright scene, dark scene, etc. Thank you very much.

  • wow!!! amazing phablet....

  • yes ... i can get 4g from both Singapore & Malaysia

  • Battery surely can last 1 full day for heavy usage Camera quality good Display is super Cons Speaker output could be better Headphone output so so UI still can't pair to the Xiaomi MIUI is too good

  • Question: are these the same phones? The differences are the colors, front camera, and 4400mAh battery.

  • Can somebody upload somewhere photos taken by their own Huawei Honor Note 8's camera? Unmodified, straight from the camera, with EXIF please. Hopefully with variations like bright scene, dark scene, etc. Thank you very much.

  • Hi Droid Do you get 4G with this phone?

  • @Rated Droid Army: since you got the phone I would like to ask you 3 questions A. What is the camera quality? B. what is the display quality? C. What is the battery performance? I am planning to buy it from alixpress so need your suggestions asap. regards from India techpro

  • I used all the i mentioned

  • When will be in the market in the philippines?

  • You don't know a lot about telephones do you?

  • Have u used the phone...have u tried the camera and found out it is worse than xiomai's mi max or it is only your view according to the mega pixels capacities

  • Do you hand on the phone before you comment ? This phone camera is far more better than 16mp xiaomi max or letv 20mp

  • Bought from Aliexpress but get the weird situation Box in seal but already installed Gapps in the phone ,multilanguese and support OTA looked like international version Gold 128GB

  • Great, that would be awesome

  • I ordered my note 8 a few days ago and should have it tomorrow according to shipping tracking, when i get it, i will do an in-depth first look and english setup guide and a few days later a full review both with nice up close video. will post video here when done!

  • Hi guys i just get my Huawei Honor Note 8 chinese version and to set up was realy easy so at the beginning when i put inside the sim card and i turn on the phone he ask me if i want to change language from Chinese into English and language was set up straight away, then afther the settings i download All google apps what i need it then i give them permision to run and all my contract and all stuff like i use to have on google account was straight away download în to my phone, then i deactivate the chinese apps and the phone is like with european version of software. The phone is move fast and perfect until now anyway. So guy's don't worry to buy any chinese version of the phone because no problem with add All the apps what you need and the chinese version usualy is with couple 70 or 80€ less then any Europen version off of corse not Honor note 8 because is available only in China.

  • Really genius? What about the 12MP on the Note 7/S7

  • the camera is defective...13 megapixel is too low to this phone

  • WHERE did you see the honor mate 8 isn't coming to the us. If you can't post a confirming link, don't write nonsense. Thanks!

  • Sources please

  • Dude...link or your claim isn't valid

  • CONFIRMED !!! Honor Note 8 is NOT coming to the U.S....

  • What material was the white part on top made of.

  • Yes it is. It has the same sensor and tech as the Huawei P8

  • What's the camera performance like in terms of stills quality? I'm going to upgrade from an S6 to this so I'm curious on what sort of still images it can produce? I have an A6300 for the important shots but for quick photography is it any good?

  • I hope that there's a review after it is release, the specs are great...

  • Yeah... Perhaps they will still release it. Otherwise I'm going for the white version, since it's in 32GB and I like the white strip on the back, at the top.

  • If the gray were available I'd have bought it for sure. But overall I'm pleased with this phone! Definitely a keeper! Admin should adjust camera specs though to reflect lack of 4K!

  • I want this phone....it will be a beast

  • Please do because I find your points rather weak so far. I've owned the Z Ultra as well by the way. The Honor Note 8 seems to be excellent.

  • First have more connectivity then Huawei, dust and water proof, can reed more formats in music player, have move band with connectivity in Wi-Fi, and I don't think so Huawei meke a better job in games then Sony. Anyways I will whrite back when I get the phone to see how is working in real life

  • What is the internet connectivity? CAT 12?

  • Yeah, let us know how it performs. I'm really curious on how well the gaming is on it.

  • Please clarify yourself with what you mean with can do more than a 2016 phone???

  • hows the camera performance? i have yet to see enough samples and review videos

  • Hi guy's I bought the Chinese version Huawei Honor Note 8 but I don't get it until now so hope next couple of days and i make I compare the Huawei Honor Note 8 with Sony Xperia ultra from 2013 and i found like the Sony has more future then Huawei Honor Note 8 except 2 things flash for photos and AMOLED display, now I have to wait till i have in my hand to see what he can do . Im a small disappointed to be onest coz I buy it like a 2013 phone can do more than 2016 phone

  • I really want that Gray/Black version, I really hope they will release it soon :(

  • Maybe it's possible to remove the HIsuite or deactivate it? Annoying Chinese bits are annoying lol... Hopefully those texts aren't too intrusive. I live in Europe and quite sure it won't be released here... First time I would own a Huawei device (no app drawer). Would you say the display is beautiful? (popping colors/rich blacks) :)

  • Hi, From reading here and there, it seems that there is a planned US version. which most probably will be regular EMUI 4.1 without Hi Suite. Not sure if hardware will be maintained !!! For launcher, I tried Google Launcher for couple hours, got back to stock one as it's much better. Cheers

  • Hi, If you can check below link after translating, you will find it's mentioned 2.5D Curvature Glass Hope this help.

  • Thanks for your reply. What do you mean with the international version though? It's not sure it will be sold outside of China, right? Maybe a launcher could take care of it?

  • You serious? Are you going to bad the Galaxy S7 as well because it has 12MP camera, arguably the best phone camera in the world? 13MP is perfectly fine, really.

  • The camera is just 13 megapixel?? it is too low regarding this device?? less than the mate 8?? it should be at least 16 megapixel

  • As mentioned earlier, Small chines fonts will pop up time to time (Didn't see them last 3 days) but it's not difficult to install google package. Actually Chinese things are coming from HiStore, which anyway will be removed in international version as it's meant to be for China.

  • Actually, I am not familiar with testing screens types, but I can say if you push hard it's not flexible screen. To be more accurate, I have galaxy Note 2 and you can say they are both with same stiffness. BTW: I made a brightness / colour and image quality between Galaxy Note2 and Honor Note8. With right adjustments you get match. with full brightness for both, Honor note8 wins. (Vivid colour setting of course).

  • Thanks friend ,,,

  • Despite it's having 2 speakers grills in bottom, as all Huaweis, it's one speaker on the right. The other grill claimed to be for noise reduction thing. Sounds loud enough. But if you need quality sound, then you should stay below 65~70%. Anything above that, it sounds like old mono radios :)

  • Sorry dude, not so familiar with V reviews.

  • Interested in buying this for use in Canada in English. I have seen several listings on ebay and Alibaba. Have you received yours yet? Are you using it in English? How's the experience? Worth ordering or should we wait for the North America variant?

  • Hope this will help goo.gl/WuRXdo I bought the white 32gb about 393usd

  • Thanks for reply friend, I just check the Aliexpress and found there is many sellers with to much different prices this make me really confused, Please can you tell the name of store from where you purchase this mobile phone and how much you pay for this, thanks in advance.

  • I bought it from aliexpress, lot of sellers there. Just make sure the seller reputation is diamond and up.

  • Yeah it is annoying that they hasn't release the black one. But I try to modify it with black full screen tempered glass like this one: hope it will blend LOL

  • I hope that it is better then Samsung S7 or S7 edge i am shocked to see it's owsm i really love it..

  • We hope it does have gorilla glass.but no site has ever mentioned that it does..how could u find out?

  • Well..tnx for ur review..but what about gorilla glass ..does it have any version of it because it has never been mentioned in any specs reviews so far..could u find out..

  • I also owned that one in 2014. Was ahead of its time really. I found it incredibly difficult to go back to smaller displays (like 5.5 inch) and am a bit in love with the Note 8 now. The p8 Max was always high on my list but it's outdated now. This has a lot of things going for it, especially the 6.6" 2K amoled display. I'm dying to get my hands on the gray version which isn't out yet. Really dislike that Honor didn't release all three colors at the same time, a black front is a must for me....

  • Waiting for this phone to arrive from china. Moving from xperia Z ultra, I just can't use phone smaller than 6 inch anymore. Even the note 7 felt too small, used it for a day and sold it.

  • How is the glass on the front, is it gorilla glass? Does it feel like thick strong glass or is it easy to press? Kind of important to me

  • Thank you so much for helpfull review that make more confidence to get this phone . Btw how is the loud speaker perform?

  • Would you mind posting a video review?

  • Just got it 3 days ago, moving from galaxy note. I can rate it 5 stars. Superior screen (compared next to Galaxy Note7) is Big + Speed and opening applications is awesome. Zero heating. Battery is robust. 1.5 day heavy use is normal. In simple way, you can't drain the battery within 24 hours whatever you do! Easy shifting from China mode to GooglePlay mode. still some Chinese popping up. I started learning Chinese since voice command is just Chinese. lol Yet you can run google voice, but not through home button. Now, we talk business use, note with Pen. Tested different Stylus. Finally Inkredibile with 5 dollar regular stylus are performing outstanding. Calendar Smemo was super. Have to install Google calendar, but big CON is widget. So installed Month Calendar widget. Both makes perfect combination. Enjoying free open Music / Videos... Loved it. Hope this help. Small Note: Now my Huawei Watch is so happy. Many new things started working with Huawei Phone. Well done Huawei.

  • Not only that, but the processor is not great on the Zenfone 3.

  • Very true.

  • I figure the black border is less annoying with the black face version (gray back side). No 4K was to be expected. At least it has OIS.

  • Yes it has DDR4 RAM and performance wise Kirin 955 outperforms Exynos 8890 Octa and it doesn't heat up like Snapdragon 820. If you buy a genuine international variant of this phone from authorized Huawei resellers then you would find Google PlayStore and services right out of the box but if you buy from shady Chinese resellers then beware they sell unlocked Chinese variants without Google PlayStore. My only gripe with this phone is it is way too large to carry around.

  • Anyone knows ? : 4GB ram = 4GB DDR4 ram? Has Google Play Store app installed? Thanks.

  • Got my hands on one of these already. Screen is gorgeous but black border is annoying. Also, max video resolution is only 1080p not 4K.

  • Any idea if this phone really coming to the U.S.? The only information about this is from engadget.com, saying: "Honor says it'll bring the 8 series to the US."... It says the 8 series, is that means ONLY the Honor 8? NOT Honor Note 8???

  • Is the gray version even available (yet)? So far only the inferior looking gold and silver are released...

  • Well Apple did it with their iPhone SE, where all other specs other than the force touch display and front camera were same as iPhone 6s. If Apple can do it why can't Huawei. It's not just Apple even Sharp Aquos XX2 and XX2 Mini have same specs.

  • hahhahaha

  • How can it be same specifications if they make a mini version... use your brian are you planning to sell ur unused brain....

  • Of course has gorilla glass coz im not seeing any smartphone in last 3 year's to be made without gorilla glass but im wonder if you have enough money to buy the phone or you just write something

  • Does it have gorilla glass or asahi or anything?

  • Well then it's good for you and those niche segment of users but most of the normal users would prefer something smaller, Huawei should make a mini version of this device with same specifications.

  • How fast it became available. Where do you live bro? BTW, which slot is used for the CDMA, is slot 2 ? Thanks

  • So tired of seeing all the whining about how big it is. Size is the #1 selling point of this piece of tech. I use my phone for actual voice phone calls like 5% of the time. The rest I'm surfin', textin', playin', GPSing, etc. For these uses the bigger the screen the better..... while still having a functional phone when you need to of course!

  • Avid readers like me would love such large phone and also medical doctors who like to read in PDF formats and Kindle formats would also love to have such phone. Currently I have P8Max which is wider than Honor Note.

  • Lol! They have received 5.3 million reservations only in China!

  • I'll patiently wait for your review on it as I'm conflicted on whether to get one or not. :)

  • Will it work on Verizon in the U.S.?

  • The phone is great but the biggest problem (no pun intended) is the size of the device. Such huge phablets with 6.6" screens appeal to a rather niche segment of users, so obviously this device won't be a huge seller.

  • oh men..! i hope this phone would come early this month..i'd rather buy this phone than zenfone 3 here in philippines. Bcoz z3 deluxe is toooo much expensive!

  • such big phones but still no space for a separate micro sd slot. why do you people decrease the sales of your otherwise great phones by such strange and stupid hardware compromises?

  • This is amazing value for the buck! Only wish it had a higher resolution sensor & 6GB RAM to complete the whole flagship package. Great job Huawei!

  • even if they dont add US bands and release in the US. its still a good phone. youll get hspa+ on tmobile and Att. fast enough for video streaming. ill give them Christmas to get their act together. ill buy the non US version if they dont add US LTE bands. ive owned several huaweii phones before if anyone has any questions. i had the mate 2 and use the nexus 6p.

  • ive seen it available for order on aliexpress which ships worldwide and also ebay but prices on ebay were higher

  • Hi guys I just bought Huawei Honor Note 8 Chinese version and i hope will work in Ireland witch has to be. I make another comment when I get the device and I hope to change the langue on it coz is Chinese version and download google play store and all stuff what I need

  • After one week using the phone, I can say it's UNBELIEVABLE made from Huawei. Thanks Huawei... :)

  • Which slot is for the GSM and which one for the CDMA. Is slot 1 for the GSM ? Thanks

  • Which slot is for GSM and which one for CDMA ? I currently have the MaxP8 which is a wonderful devise but unfortunately it does not provide for CDMA which I have it on a different phone. I like phones with widths like these, cause it helps me well with reading.

  • thanks bro I am waiting for this device

  • Looks like there's a high chance it will be released tommorow. I check the news first thing in the morning.

  • Max you are right, if such specs were to be in 5'2 Screen it would have been very hot cake. Even 5'5 of screen size would be great. I said this the first time ir was revealed as leak.

  • Not available yet

  • On Ali :) But it should release soon in the US

  • where could i buy.offical shop in kl malaysia.adress pls reply.

  • People who tested the phone What about camera is it good Is it fullactive sims

  • where did you buy it?

  • That would be great and perhaps a speed test. Upload a link when you do the vid.

  • Mine got shipped today

  • Just cancelled my Honor 8 order and switched to this one. Wondamobile promised to ship it tomorrow. Do not like the gold colour but that is all they have. The P8 Max is one of my favorite phones and this looks like a true upgrade over it. The combination of 2K 6.6" screen and 4500mAh Li-Po at 220g is awesome.

  • I currently use a honor 5x and I can tell you I'd definitely upgrade to 1 of the high end models soon. 1 with a screen smaller than 6.6" though. Huawei ps bring more models to the US.

  • Just bought this off Gizok the other day, Will hopefully be here within the next week or so. Upvote this comment if you would like me to do an unboxing and review (in English) and I'll post it on YouTube.

  • Thanks, hope they will release Honor 8 AND Honor Note 8 together on 08/16/16...

  • I second that. Huawei had been snubbing US and not bringing any of their flagship devices to USA - it's time to change that discrimination. Honor already said it will be bringing Note 8 to US we deserve better, more concrete information than this vague promise.

  • August 16th is for Honor 8, not Honor Note 8......

  • August 16th

  • We want to know the release date in the United States...

  • Just give those specs in a 5.1 inch screen size and I'm quite sure people will flock to buy the device. I'm not sure about others but a phone with a 6.6 inch screen is way to huge.

  • honor note 8 has released on August 1st, looks amazing!

  • Any person who gives poor ratings to Huawei phones just knows little about differences in smartphones. The secret is it's the only phone which has the best network connections. Where all phonesa are not connecting due to poor coverage area a Huawei phone will not disappoint you. Their battery too is superb comparing to the rest. Samsung will give you a nice pic but when sent to a different phone it's different. Huawei will give you the exact pics as you take. The only con I've discoveredi is heating problem. Apart from that it's the best phone ever.

  • Whatever the Zenfone ships with, better get used to it because they never update their US phones. Promises and more promises, update still hasn't come for Zenfone 2 running Android 5.0.

  • Is this a larger 6P or what? I'd still chose the 6P over this

  • I own Huawei phone MediaX1 7"...I like it... but the compass is really bad...when I am at Huawei store I try the compass on different models and still bad compass....it's very difficult when navigation on pedestrian mode in google map navigation...

  • Pen or somethin.

  • everything in this phone is great for me, hope they release it in a good price so i can go and buy it fast

  • zenfone 3 ultra 23mp with no 2k record so whats the difference than 13 huawei note 8 qhd display and super amoled and android 6.0 = rip battery life

  • Huawei note 8 vs Asus Zen3 Ultra 6.8" vs 6.6" QHD vs FHD Amoled vs IPS LCD 16nm SoC vs 28 SoC Standard screen vs Gorilla Glass 4 Is the price point will the same tough, it seems note 8 will be $100 pricier.

  • Way to go! what a way to pick to an inferior product

  • I'll take a US Zenfone 3 ultra over this.

  • when for India

  • It's phalbet phone Like note 7 , mate 8 , etc.

  • August 16 is the announcement for Honor 8 in the U.S., no mention for Honor Note 8 as of now.

  • When will be available in Tanzania?

  • Phone

  • Anyone know when this phone comes out in the U.S? I read from one website (which I can't remember where) saying it will come out on the 19th of this month. August 9th for China August 16th for U.S?

  • No Not really check the extra things you get in Note7 :)

  • Its a Mini Tab

  • The camera specs looks identical to last years P8max and Huawei's attempt on Note'ish big-version, ewen thow it was 6.8fhd and a little thinner and only 3grams heavyer. but i notice the 2k record-option on what at first glance looks to be the same 13mpix OIS cam (still RGB+W sensor?) anyway reason for Huawei not opening up for 2k on p8max series.. judging from specs it should have the power to manage it. could it come in a FW-update for p8max, or down to hardware limitasions?.

  • - no Corning Gorilla Glass 4 - no microSD dedicated slot

  • Is that a tablet or a phone ? :@

  • a big screen is surely a big pleasure. very inventive. watching video, text on this huge quad-hd screen is a pure enjoyment. very appreciative INITIATIVE from HUAWEI.

  • Bullcrap u haven't seeni vids on youtub I did!

  • Look at the photos closely and look at the screen to body ratio before you start complaining.

  • Better than the Note 7.

  • Honor u are ridiculous so u made beautiful V8 display with very thin black borders and u released this monster with monstrous black borders around the screen ? Honor like ; WTH ? IT IS DISGUSTINGLY UGLY HORRIBLE !!! Come oooon Honor !!!

  • AMOLED is OLED, but the concept is that it would turn off certain pixels. I guess they wouldn't really bother with measurements, but it would depend completely on the light hitting it.

  • Maybe when it comes out in the US, but for now it's been released in China.

  • 70,000: 1 high contrast. Why does gsmarena always put oled and amoled as infinite contrast, but the chinese official website posted numbers?

  • No, Hisilicon Kirin of Huawei is like Exynos of Samsung, this is what that sets them apart from generic Qualcomm, change it will make them loss their identity.

  • If it's in 300$ then I will buy it.

  • looks like a monster

  • I will look for it in Turkey but i don't find much Huawei here either

  • They are giving a competeter of galaxy note 7 perhaps they shoup use snapdrsgon chipshet

  • does Huawei Li-Po 4500 mAh battery not good for you?

  • And once again, it will most likely be SHUT OUT of the USA market, thanks to whatever pressure Apple, Samsung, Verizon, AT&T, government puts on China to keep them out!

  • No NFC? Is it a $100 phone?

  • wow this my next phablet. lovin it. tnx Huawei

  • wooow ,,,, amazing design with edge screen it needs only a stylus!

  • I'd try one with Windows. :)

  • Go for sony xa ultra...bcause it has a six inch with huge lol 2700 mah battery.

  • It will be thousend times better than sony xperia xa ultra....yoooo huawei...wish u good luck

  • what exactly is the target audience for this??? this aint a phablet.....!!!

  • Are the 4G bands correct? Do not support T Mobile 4G AGAIN? awwwwwww... Why not support 4G bands 2 and 4...

  • As expected, Huawei has officially unveiled its flagship phablet in China. The Honor Note 8 will go on sale on August 9 from VMall and JD.com in China, and will cost 2,299 Yuan ($350) for the base model with 32 GB storage, while the top model with 128 GB costs 2,799 Yuan ($420). The phablet features a 6.6-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, Kirin 955 SoC with an octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 4,500 mAh battery. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top, while a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera are in charge for photos. Huawei Honor Note 8 specifications 6.6-inch Quad HD 2.5D curved glass display, up to 105% NTSC color gamut, 70,000: 1 high contrast Octa-Core Kirin 955 (4x 2.5GHz A72, A53 4 x 1.8 GHz) processor with Mali T880-MP4 GPU 4GB RAM, 32GB / 64GB / 128GB storage, expandable memory up to 128GB with microSD Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with EMUI 4.1 Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) 13MP camera with dual-tone LED flash, OIS, f/2.0 aperture 8MP front-facing camera Fingerprint sensor Dimensions: 178.8 × 90.9 × 7.18mm;Weight: 219g 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C 4500mAh battery with fast charging

  • too much Weight 219 g

  • This phone is so oversized, it seems like a joke. Even larger than the Mi Max. Those arent phones anymore but tablets!

  • Where is this source of information?

  • hey bro if u want a big screen and high performance phone that should also be premium then dont wait for note 8 just go for Huawei p8 max its 6.8 inches ultra big and ultra high performer in the smartphone history

  • I have high hopes for the Note 8. Loved my Xperia Z Ultra, but it got slow as it aged. Replaced by Galaxy S6 Edge+, but its just too small after the Ultra. I use my phone for IT work, so I need a large screen and good performance in something that can still fit in a jacket pocket. This looks like the one.

  • wow this world has become wierd phones got large and used mostly for completely stupid purposes. and whats with the faux gold colour its even more irritating than knowing how obsolete these will become due to the greed of these OEMs. find some other colour for crying out loud!

  • Hope it will support T Mobile 4G LTE...

  • So the battery size is not confirmed yet? 4400mAh is a little bit low for such a huge phone.
