HP iPAQ h6315 - User Reviews

  • Loved it but it doesn't speak with my new HP Desktop or Laptop which run Windows 10. Shame that HP for haven't got updates to connect their own products unless there is a solution?

  • This phone was out 3 years before the iPhone, of course it's going to be slower, but as the software updated, you could add more features. I played streaming Tivo on my ipaq using a slingbox from anywhere that I had Cell service, ( I had unlimited data from Tmobile at the time ). I could also plug my laptop into this phone and use the internet through it, and I could send MMS pictures with it, which the iPhone could not do for 2 years after it came out. It had gaming apps as well and touch screen. When the iPhone came out, it was neat, you could pretend to drink a fake beer from it, but no tethering or MMS (or video conferencing like it advertised).

  • My first exposure to a proper smartphone, after the early Nokia communicators. $1600 at Harvey Norman in 2004 and looked spaceage in its day. Mostly for the top executive types. Today a lot of phones with better features at $300. But in 2004 this was as cutting edge as it got.

  • this phone kick ass u cant compare the iphone to this phone yes the procceser in the i phone is much faster. HTC has picked up the missing puzzle and has started a new wavw of PDA and phones, good luck........

  • wow comparing this thig to a iphone is like comparing apples to oranges, processor speed is half what an iphone is, having owned both of these phones, yes the iphone is much better but its also a newer device think of what was around in 2004 (most of the peple posting "iphone is better" couldnt even have phones in 2004)

  • I just don't like the style of the phone. I wish it was a slide or flip phone.

  • iphone is better xDDDDDDDDDD are u kidding this phone is as good as an iphone and it was made like 3 years before ur "awesome" iphone

  • it sssuuuuuuccckkksss

  • dis is not good.i hav apple iphone 16gb.that is so nice than this trashy phone.

  • as far as I'm using this device, it seems to be so good, maybe is right that the soft "hang up" oftenly, but updating the ROM everything became fixed! Does anybody share my opinion?

  • as far as I'm using this device, it seems to be so good, maybe is right that the soft "hang up" oftenly, but updating the ROM everything became fixed! Does anybody share my opinion?

  • that is SO not true.

  • its a nice one.. specially when you need to go online on a wifi spot! so portable.... i don't see any problem with it... its overall a userfriendly phone... works even without the sim... so perfect for use as phone and on the job portable gadget...

  • 6315 is a great device if you have the right operating system/software. it's true it has a small speaker problem, but it's easy to use, fun and stable. Wireless is easy to configure and connect, bluetooth works just fine. I am a little dissapointed by the processor and RAM... but it's a 2004 model.

  • until now I didnt experience a pda as bad as this. this is a very very bad phone/pda. basics dont work and complicated stuff like wifi are a nightmare. comparable to a bad trip where you meet satan and suffer torture

  • actually For the ones who thik that this pda is bad!!!,...it is not that bad, the only problem is the speaker......else it is that best phone I have ever had!!!

  • do not buy. do not buy. only use it, if it is given to you for free. Not worth buying because it just DONT WORK. it is very simple to understand. it just dont work

  • dont mislead people. It works like 73% of the time withought wifi and with wifi on 34% of the time. A phone should work always not like that. I felt ashamed to sell it to an innocent person. I dont know how tmobile people didnt feel ashamed selling this crap.

  • I've found this device to be reasonably reliable, and I've used on the wifi capability often. The SW has its limitations but is generally adequate. The iPaq is prone to occasional application hangs requiring a reset/cold boot but by & large is an asset.

  • I read about this pda in this page. I knew it was full of bugs but I fell for it because the screen is huge. This is a good pda overall, good 4 movie clip, word et etc.... BUT IF YOU are planning on ever using wifi dont buy it. I REPEAT DON'T BUY IT. I upgraded everyting in it and wifi still dont work properly. using a wifi on this pda is your worst nightmare

  • HP iPAQ 6315 User Review I got this phone like a year ago, and sold it for a Samsung. Here's my review DESIGN PROS= - Screen, definitely with the size good for internet. Works well under sunlight if you increase the brightness. (of course) - Hot-swap memory card hole on the side, very handy. - 2.5 mm jack on the top left side (+ converter) - applause! CONS= - Size, too bulky even for a PDA, feels like holding a brick. - External antenna.. come on! - Screen, too sensitive when you don't use a good case, the screen is exposed to everything and you'll have problems (alignments and all) in no time. - Hot-swap hole. I accidentally pressed the card and it jumped out and fell, and a buddy stomped on it!!! D'oh! - 5-ways button under the screen is a wild goose chase. Useless. - Speaker phone facing back is not loud enough, even at top volume. gets worse if you use a case, you won't hear a thing. - Rubber material for side buttons are too weak. Use your nails and you'll never see them again. FUNCTIONS & CAPABILITIES PROS= - It's a PDA! You can expect this thing to do whatever a PDA is supposed to. With a little extra softwares the only limit of the capabilities is YOU. I've tried using it as a tv remote using IR.. - Expandability - being a PDA. - Synchronizes amazingly and seamlessly with Outlook - no hassle. - Wifi works great on hot spots. - Handwriting recg. works great! - Battery is among the best I've ever used. Lasted 10 hours of non stop mp3 play, plus a day more - I can't believe it. CONS= - Wifi sometimes conflicts with gprs. (I know, they're different, sometimes the IE still tries to connect through gprs even when i set default conn to wifi) - Camera is among the worst - if not THE worst. - Speaker phone is hard to use. - Signal is very poor. - Closing apps does not close them. - Hot swap memory card hangs a lot, often unreadable. Busted my 1G the last time. OVERALL PROS= It's a PDA + a phone, functions can be unbeatable, battery kicks a55!! CONS= Looks ugly, filled with bugs, errors, glitches, hangs, involuntary resets, flaws you name it. CONCLUSION. Get a better PDA - or Plug and Pray on this one.

  • I had similar problems to you guys with software issues and reseting the handset all the time, but i brought a 1GB SD Card and now i love the Handset. It's the best, i use it all day and since i myself work in a mobile shop I think it's fantastic!!

  • I had been using the Hp IPaq 6300 series Pocket PC phone and it was my worst experience, used to hang up a lot and very bulky. Also I started getting a lot of complains from my friends and associates that when they call me my mobile shows as swithed off. There are only 2 good things about it 1) screen size is big 2) battery life is very long. other than that its going to be your worst phone. I still have that phone sitting at home coz I just didnt have the heart to sell out this sick phone to some one else. If you still want to try it out I'll ship it out to you free. If you really want a good Pocket Pc Phone go for the i-mates

  • I bought it 6 months ago. It works pretty good. For those guys with daily reset issue: get the software HandySwitcher - it can remove the application from memory completely once you close the app. OS mobile 2003 can clear the memory even you close the app. That's why your device has to be reset everyday!

  • I bought this phone and was big mistake : You have to reset almost evry day , battery lasted 3 months than dead, speakerphone rubbish, lost data more than twice ... too many problems ,, big miastake

  • This is the most useless PDA / phone ever made. No body seems to have tested it in HP and the customers are part of their devTest team.

  • I've read the comments on this equiptment, and I can say that I'm relieved! I've had the device for less than 6 months, and I'm already have problems with it. It hard resets itself for no reason, and I've lost information 3 times already. Now, its "freezing" several times a day, and I have to do a soft reset. Not all blutooth headsets work well with this phone, and I've had people complain that they cannot hear me. The camera is also of poor quality, which surprises me. My $50 Nokia camera phone has a better picture quality. I've very disappointed with this device, especially since its an HP brand. I'm back in the market looking for a replacement.

  • Hi everyone, This phone is good, I have it since the 2y - the only problems I discoverd are: it cant be sanding via bluetooth all the file or ... has a normal phone + there is no software upgrade available. Regarding the lost of information...simply done - just do a backup from the utility option; therefore if it switch off because there is no charge left, you can always recover your things from the represtination option. Ciao

  • Hey, all the bad comments before was just because they don't have the latest ROM version. . . With my unit, I would say it's the best I ever had. . . Integration of QuadGSM/WiFi/Bluetooth/IrDA/DigCamera/MP3&Video Player . . . What can you still ask for. . .

  • Hi guys, I am warning every one who wants to buy this crap.. I had baught this piece os $hit 2 years ago and i through it away in few days.... This phone have alot of problems. 1. It automatically resets and we lose all data without any warning. 2. Camera quality is also very bad... No light balance and the softwares available is not user friendly. 3. Always comes locked with T-Mobile and u cant take it outside US. 4. Too big in size. 5. External case increases size much more. and there are many more problems in this machine that I dont remembers. So guys I will highly recommend you not to buy it.

  • hey guy i am not sure if i should buy this..i mean i like it but i dont know am only gonna use it to do appointment and note i have problem with my memory and i read the bad function..so is this a good phone/pda???

  • does anyone know if you can put 3.0 SE on this phone? i suppose 5.0 is out of the question. Does anyone have a solution for the unstability of the device? Has anyone done a hard memory upgrade?

  • *non-upgradeable O/S

  • Speaker isn't loud enough, slow and upgradeable O/S apparently due to the slow OMAP ARM processor, SD slot killed one 1Gb SD card and a 245Mb MMC, unstable - jams up at the oddest of time, short battery life, bluetooth pairing sure.. but it's practically useless as most other PDAs doesn't have Personal Area Network it seems. Wifi turns on at will and refuses to turn off at times. Parts? Where do I get parts from? I want the front case replacement. HP hasn't replied. USSD feature is missing, I can't use DiGi (016) *128# USSD. Contacted HP, HP told me to contact DIGI. Since when did Digi make PDAs for HP? ***ons. Sent the support guy a more detailed explanation of what I was referring to... hasn't received any reply until today. Horrid, abysmal, and yes I reiterate, the ringer could have been louder, at least allow camera upgrade to higher pixels. Bah... My complaints are endless.

  • Dang! Wish the ringer was louder and the camera had a better resolution. Locks up very often and the the phone feature sucks when you have any other app. running. Otherwise i think it is a great device if fixes were available.

  • the ringtone is not lous aswell. I have got very problem with fonts, specially iranian fonts.

  • i think for the price this pda phone is perfect...

  • I bought this gadged for U$250, it has everything that I ask for in a pda, plus it include a cel phone.

  • Like it, had it for two years. On my third replacement. But, Its bulky, batterylife is short, like he memory size and functions, but the charging dock hole damages easily. Wish the ringer and speaker was as loud as the aappearence of this device.

  • i have using this for the last 3 months. i agree the phone has some problems. (doesn't ring if it is in standby, went back to my nokia). But, as a PDA it is stunning. wifi, IRDA, bluetooth work well. games, software, mp3 on a 2 GB SD card make it a great laptop replacement. i have to soft-reset about once every 3 days. (but, i believe thats the case with every other device out there)

  • i have had this for a few months, i think peoples problems are because they don't know how to use it properly. it works fine, i do have bluetooth problems sometimes, and have to do soft resets occasionally but its a machine! it holds memory better with an external drive, i like it, very useful for keeping my appointments and notes etc...

  • Worst piece of equipement (18 months usage)Have to reset it everyday, I am missing call, especially if a wifi network is in the area. Been waiting fer a third ROM to fix defects and finally bluetooth does not work properly in my car and with several headset.

  • Have one for 18 months, worst piece of electronics that I ever bought. nothing work properly, phone being the worst

  • he guys/guies good for business class external sound is little less, bluetooth works a bit slow

  • I had this cell phone for 1 year already and it does way much better than the rest. This has to be the most diversed cell in the market. Look at the prices for just a cell phone, but this phone does great for business. Upgrading is easy, to stop those crashes. And I have navigation on mine instead buying a $2000 system. Its the best tool that business and pleasure could buy!!

  • wow man, amazing.... if i have money i will buy it...!

  • this is one of the worst, and i mean WORST...gizmo ever invented. It does not make calls when I need it to. I can fart louder than the speaker. Windows makes makes it a bit better. Other than that, DON'T GET IT. You will suffer...I am waiting for the MotoQ.

  • It's not bad, better than the others, but still not awesome...I like what it does, basically everything you want it to. Sometimes it does lock up on me when you use too many programs at once and have to shut down programs, lack of memory. Would love it to have push-email, but doesn't. Also, definately need a memory card to do backups, once battery dies, phone resets and have to resync all data. Video is choppy. Phone works good. Battery is okay for a PDA phone, but still not good as far as phone standards go. Just keep it on the cradle. Nice features, nice layout, could be a bit thinner but other than that, I think it's one of the best overall Pocket PC PDA phones out there. 8/10

  • hey bro u can find some free softwares from limeshare or kazaa.search for ipaq, pocket pc n windows mobile.you will find find tones of softwarez there.

  • Well.,I jus got this thing a week back and I'm still on the look out for more softwares for it.Although it makes a gr8 phone..still feel lacks something. Can anybody plzzz help where i can get free softwares fo my IPaq.

  • This thing does everything but doesn't do a single thing well. I had this device for over 9 months then decided to sell it. the key selling points sound good but this is not a reliable phone. i work for a major cellular service provider that sold this device. take my word for it. dont buy it. HP (hockey puck) is a huge overall let down. give it time, it will let you down. hopefully in time they will find a way to make their product more reliable overall

  • wow man........this thing is awesome.can u imagine =irda, bluetooth, wifi, wireless lan in a single pocket pc..........this thing has got gr8 looks......amazing..the operating systen is a little slow........the windows media player is amazing.......u can even download plugins for it.......the camera is awesome with a biiiig screen.....i would prefer to install a scratch guard screen as the thing is really expensive........this is my best birthday gift.......cool.......i love it

  • WOW man, i have this "Machinery"! hm.. i can say is just cool STUF!! but the OP/sistem is a litle bit slow, with a new PETCH, is going bether.! it's litle bit dificullt to talk, but dosent mather.. Is just cool STUF!

  • wow man!!! simply u can get IRDA,WLAN,GPRS & BLUETOOTH, in one single phone.thats awsome. other functionality is quite impresive, even though speed a bit slow.but no need too speed for a pocket pc phone.thanx to hp.

  • cool man!!! this is great pocket pc phone.even though the performance is a little bit slow, but u can get all options at a cheaper price and that is good for user.
