HTC P6500 - User Reviews

  • I have this kind of phone but Cannot use it because canoot change the language. Is it possible to change it from the telephone itself ?

  • I have this phon this phon is very good

  • Hello. How is the battery? How long does the battery last? I intend to use it primarily for voice calls and texting, a little bit of wifi. Will it last one or two days?

  • I have used this before and found it a good device in its time. I found it had good ergonomics and good navigation, my only concern would be the ruggedness - it needs a case really otherwise I'd be worried about dropping it. I would like to reiterate the previous comment regarding the Pidion; I have tested this device and found it very good on spec, ergonomics and durability. Although Bluebird isn't a well known manufacturers name it appears to be built very well. I am looking to change from the P6500 to the Pidion throughout my mobility field and found the cheapest supplier so far is the Barcode Warehouse.

  • Hi Sam, have you tried looking at the BM-170 from Pidion as a replacement for the P6500? It resembles the iPhone, but rugged. We got ours from Maxatec (ask for Tom), they were very helpfull

  • Does anyone know what is due to replace this phone? There is nothing else on the market in the same price range that is built as solidly from what I can see.

  • Actually this phone is excellent when used for purposes of offline data capturing for people in the research industry. it's tough & rugged and battery life is way better than most...

  • In fact i dislike HTC phones but... P6500 have features unavailable in any other phone at the market. Features that 6500 have (unlike Touch HD) 1. 2 slots for expansion cards, meaning NORMAL cards, not mini or micro!!! In that way you can have 65GB storage space! Unseen in any other phone. 2. Unique GPS. It's quite a puzzle to start it, but after you sucseed you can have a GPS signal even inside the uderground parking lot. I dobut that Touch HD will retain signal even in the carwash. :-)

  • Weight - 220g Would nail it to hammer................:)

  • The days of this phone are over, HTC Touch HD has everything this phone had, +wm 6.1, TouchFlo 3D, 5mp camera, 3,8 screen, much thinner, 3,5 jack. And its $10 cheaper as well...

  • business card reader is must now, other wise reall good phone

  • Hi all, could you please tell me what about business card reader facility in this device? regards

  • nasty looks,ok features.

  • with a screen so big why only crappy QVGA quality?

  • hi! yes, i can re-confirm the device has internal gps. to get it started, download live search, use the default mapping and activate the use gps option. i've had the device over 3 months now and in one word...excellent!

  • To have everything clear: THIS DEVICE HAS INTERNAL GPS. If you can get it to start?!Well that's another story. I have a IGO8 and at first it kept telling me that GPS not present. In the end I installed a free program, called GPS TEST and with this on running in background the IGO was able to detect the gps.

  • I think so

  • dirty phone i dnt like this.

  • Well, I have one, its brilliant. Battery Usage OK, G works well and so does GPS. Cant understand what everyone is complaining about, so far the best phone i ever had, quick, easy to use, nice large clear screen, not VGA but then they drain the battery quicky. Ignore the moaners, I've had XDA2. XDA2i, XDA Exec, SPV M700, but this ones the best yet, I love this phone

  • Hello !!! It's possible in HTC P6500 i take away photo in mode GPS like it's possible in model P3600 ????

  • Does this phone have GPS or not??? Thanks

  • Hello again, The test on the HTC P6500 as put for sale here in Austria is complete ! . Battery performance is fairly good ! Using all given tools on the machine , battery duration lasts approx. 4 - 5 Hrs. SD -Slots took up to 16GB each! We had to use an external GPS Mouse due to the fact the the HTC P6500 doesnt have an internal GPS-Chip (QCT MSM7200) although this was mentioned on the PDF- Product Sheet dated (HTC_P6500_PS DE 200907 /1004081).Does HTC place two different versions of the same product on the market, because most websites report on the internal GPS Chipset funktions ????. Well , overall a good device , but HTC should think of the same machine with at least the capabilities of the "Cruise" or at least print proper information. The machine is returning to the dealers on Monday !

  • Got one of these in at work, the design is crap. Can't lay it flat on a table (wtf?) the back of the device is not flat so you can't tap on it while it is on a desk or something. The extra sd slot makes the battery cover loose. it's ugly.

  • far to big!!!!

  • You make a good point about the GPS. I also found that there is NO mention of the units internal GPS capabilities. In fact at one stage I thought it did not have it! I would be interested to know what your thoughts are abou the battery performance, because as I said in my last few posts all I did was voice call/text message and never used the GPS/GPRS/Bluetooth/WiFi/Media player and I found the battery performance to be totally pathetic. Please let me know. Since I returned the unit I have spoken to a few companies that sell accessories for other HTC phones and they said that all of the reports that they are getting are about issues with the battery performance. I heard that there may be an aftermarket extended battery available soon and it has it's own battery cover.

  • Hello everybody, We received the HTC P6500 a couple of days ago, the screen resolution in comparison to standards on the market at present (politely spoken)is quite frustrating , other than that, all other specifications seem to work (+/-) smoothly (Wonderful processor speed). Presently we are trying the GPS function as the machine "doesnt" really state anywhere if it really has an internal GPS antenna only a " GPS antenna Connector" Well inform on further details asap!!!

  • I spoke to HTC today and asked them if there is an extended battery. The answer is no. The battery performance I am getting with NO use of wifi/gps/gprs/3g/bluetooth is "normal" and If I did use these the battery would drain in about 3 hours. I told HTC that this is just useless and asked them why they are using such an out of date battery capacity (1500mAh)...no answer. My advice to anyone is, yes the phone is full of great features but the battery will last a few hours so you better buy an external battery pack or keep it on charge in the car. Forget it otherwise.

  • and I forgot to add I have not even tried the bluetooth and GPRS... Today the phone was on charge and used for around 2.5hrs of voice calls and the battery is down to 28% - and it is only 4 days old. Based on previous experience (over a year) with a SE P990 and how the battery performance drops over the months I can see my P6500 is going to be useless and I do not think it will last a full day if you wifi/gps/bluetooth/gprs and voice call. So I am going to return it. Very dissapointing.

  • Hi, I have been using this phone for 4 days now. If there are specific questions anyone would like to ask - feel free - instead of me trying to write a detailed review of every aspect. However my initial thoughts are that battery life may be a major problem, because at this stage I'm only using it for voice calls and have not had a chance to use the G. P. S. or the wireless connectivity and am lucky to get a full day (after 2 hours of calls on GSM)

  • hey,c'mon people express your side, when it comes to business i like the htc new products especially tytn11 and now the p6500,really a great help for mapping, office, business anywere thru internet, very speedy and batt.life is much better than others.but still premature to say complete opinion.....so far its fantastic.

  • God I hope this has the Video drivers that were missing from the same chipsets in the Kaiser and TyTN II. Otherwise this defice might be crippled in graphics rendering like the Kaiser is.

  • and it's not that big

  • Finally available at devicewire. I just ordered mine. They said I'll get it by Monday.

  • It's been released here in Belgium, the device is HUMONGOUS, seriously gigantic, bigger than x7500 even. No way it fits in your pocket.

  • Is this thing ever going to come out?

  • Does this definetly come with windows msn mobile messenger pre-installed? As I recently bought a HTC TYTN 2 thinking it was pre-installed but unfortunately it was not........

  • HTC 6500 have 3G and not front camera only back camera. it is posible to make a videocall? using one camera... Thank you

  • To the one that just say "it's crap, HTC should not do so bad product as those one...", if you can't give constructive comment, just ignore HTC product and place where you can put comments. Thanks. From the specs it looks like a good product. I had the Qtek 9090, and since a broke it, I was expecting a new one with the same size. Here it is, with the embeded GPS I currently run with the Gloofish M700 wich has also the gps, but the screen is to small for navigation, but he has the keyboard. Let's hope HTC will do a version with the keyboard... before I take a new one.

  • are you sure about the processor, it should be one of the fastest phones out there due to the 256 ram and 400 mhz combination

  • Honestly, it's about time someone has made a phone big enough to fill large hands and easy to dial! It's beefier than hell, has better specs than nearly all the rest on the market and is secure as all get out!

  • Don't Buy this phone or any other with Qualcomm MSMXXXX HTC has refused to develope proper drivers for the graphic processor built in which causes this phone to run at a substandard rate much lower than much older phones.

  • come on guys leave these bulky nothing. go only for sony vaio ux series. that's the God of ppcs. upps! bigger than ppcs

  • i mean: the one and only mobilephone with barcode-reader. Thats the feature of this mobilephone. Its ready for special-business....

  • when u compare this with touch crous, you see there is some futures mising that makes reject the p6500, its a waste. what do you mean GPS imbeded? why not tomtom etcetra, why not touch flow. why the big tail that makes it looks ugly? why no colors? why no radio? why why why.......... i think if you HTC cant make it right. just make tow models of the crous , the one you made and another that is 3.5in , screen. dont make another mistak like the touch, thats only good for gradnma.

  • I have this device and it rocks man

  • I am contemplating to buy this product as it has everything i.e. phone, wifi, 3 mp camera, 3g, GPS and others. But what I am concerned is the GPS quality. Can it be used in my country if I download some location maps? I am in Malaysia. Hope someone can answer me. Thanks a million.

  • the specifications is good , but the outside the body look cheap.

  • Best pocket phone ever. I have till now , o2 XDA , HTC Wizard and HTC Hermes(Tytn) . Essentially for business , for multimedia and navigation it' s large screen 3,5" . I want to buy HTC 6500 , but I dont find in Romania.

  • to aaron ks: Best pocket pc phone I ever reviewed. The RAM on my test unit is 256 with 1280mb of ROM. The speed of the device is INCREDIBLY FAST when compared to other HTC 3Q 07 devices. The only part I do not like is the design, and not having a slide out hardware keyboard. The GPS, Wifi, GSM 3G receptions are very good. When it comes in retail packaging, I will defnitely buy this piece of feature and media packed gadget! I,ve an important question: What's the quality of the LCD? As u know its size is 3.5" and is 0.7" bigger than the LCD of the HTC TYTN II. I mean is there a large space (eye catching) between pixels of the LCD?

  • 3.5" + QVGA makes text just big enough so us 40+ old geezers can use it without reading glasses. Yeah baby! Time to crack open a bottle of Geritol and celebrate!

  • Eventhough I read from peoples' opinion that it looks ugly but what the heck. I need a phone that has all the features like MW6, 3 megapix camera, GPS, to name a few and it has big screen unlike the small 2.8 " screen. Wow.. I can't wait for it. I wonder how much and the size as well.

  • there r plenty of features that r not included in da specifications written here. This is new and good. Maybe just the design is not that it has to be, but it is still one of the best PDAs now...

  • Now this is a new thing, coming soon, any reason it dose not have the T cruise features. any answer HTC? and why cant u have the cruise in 3.5 in and why dos it have such a big but, i mean the buttom part is to big

  • Finger print technology!!! now that is worth the deal. Really nice, can't wait.

  • no FM again why HTC why?

  • best from htc .,will wait and buy :)

  • 3g camera is a must with push to talk options like the nokia e90 will be good if you make make one for me:)

  • @ Johan: Darling this is clearly a phone and not a pda, first of all to use 3G you have to have sim card inserted (unless you use a laptop for it). Secondly you can see on the image a sim card icon with a cross on it. All the HTC phones with windows mobile have the ability to be used as a phone.

  • can any 1 tell me why they are still using 65k screen ..its should be 16M screen like apple iphone

  • More than 9 months I'm using HTC TyTN. During last some weeks I'm using HTC TyTN II. All that period I wish about something similar but withouth keyboard. At least - P6500 = device for businessman!(?) Some remarks concerning P6500: - larger screen - that nice! Very usefull for e-mails and web brousing. - why video call camera isn't included? how about video calls? - a little doubtfull about bar coder reader. I have some experience - that applications is using in heavy environment and such type devices is unsafe in that. - Otherwise - visit card reader - congratulations from businessmans! - 1 G memory - something fantastic !! Good luck! P.S. today is October - where is update information about that device? :-)

  • Come on, gsmarena, this is not a gsm!? It is just a pda, apparently, simply watch the HTC site: and Please just check this out and: * OR confirm it is a phone * OR take it off this site...

  • wow,..finger-print? but for what? for answering the call? outgoing? accessing folder? magnificent screen and memory, with vga ?

  • i love the 480p HD touch screen

  • i love it. it has that windows vista design sweet.

  • can`t beat the tytnII though...sorry the only good thing is the 3.5' screen

  • Why cant HTC make this with a QWERTY keyboard? It would have been the best for me it it has a QWERTY. Will lose nerves composing an sms without the keypads :p

  • Are they serious with qvga screen?

  • These guys may be kidding. 240x320 resolution makes 90% of the features of this phone useless. Sorry, no buy.

  • I agree with 2m6c

  • wow... the design its really ugly...

  • This isn't a consumer device, it's aimed at big businesses, especially distribution and warehousing. That's why the features seems pretty odd.. and also why it looks so chunky.

  • i hope it can read asian language

  • Perfect for the people with visual impair.

  • looks cool.... but is there really a 1gb internal memory? big screen.... 2 card slot but will still get my TYTN II when it comes out cant wait anymore

  • I hope this is just a bad joke! 3.5" and QVGA?!

  • nice....
