Jolla Jolla - User Reviews

 • Best phone but without compass, is there any microusb -compass sensors?

 • is it compatible with sprint?

 • One can get Sony Xerpia X and Sailfish OS from Jolla separate and install.

 • Best phone ever Unfortunately it is not produced any more

 • It's a super duper phone

 • it's 2018 and people still care about this phone...

 • That is impressive on too many levels ! You'll soon be able to upgrade to the Xperia X Sailfish OS edition :)

 • Still some interest in this phone :)

 • Still in love with this phone, use it as my daily driver since 2014.

 • Today I got a cheap Android phone with some small goodies - 1GB RAM, 4 core MT CPU, 5" screen with 720 x 1280 p and 294 ppi, 8 MPix camera, 4G, real GPS and very big battery. I configured this phone some hours. After configurating I took my jolla and I feel that I do not want never to use the cheap Android phones - differences is too big for the benefit Jolla. This cheap Andro for my fife's sport tracking and unfortunally I don't know about GPS accuracy.

 • After updates Jolla is a very good small phone and can run my favorite Android apps like ColorNote, MS Office, Waze, AdobeAcrobat, OutOfMilk, TuneInRadio, MX Player, Firefox, PrettyPainter, others and lot of Jolla app's. Compass with magnetometer on board but Inclinometer can't calibrated. GPS accuracy compared with HTC top phones but little slow. Sound in 3,5 audio is not good but not bad too - listened with amplifier or better headphones. Handling without case is bad but phone itself looks cool (best handling etalons for me is LG P500 Optimus One and SonyEricsson Aspen M1 with physical qwerty keyboard). Camera is not good but better than Marshall phone camera (without settings). Sailfish OS like the increasingly more and more, little bit a stiff but I like it (I have lot of Androids, WP phones, Symbians and old WinMo's and tablets too). Jolla is my main phone sinc march 2016. I think Jolla has to find itself as among the other phones. Good luck, Jolla!

 • It's hardware friendly compared to androlags. Because it uses c++ on its apps while androlags use java and java virtual Machine called ART.

 • Hello Guys. Please visit this thread at Jolla and Sailfish OS forum. I've listed almost all the features that everyone wants in the next version of Sailfish OS. Don't forget to cast your votes.

 • Sailfish OS 2.0 is very nice. I'm using Intex Aqua Fish which is a rebranded Jolla C phone. So far, I like the OS. It doesn't have as many features as Androids because it is a new OS on version 2.0. Give it some time. Hope Jolla is here to make a difference.

 • DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR, DO NOT BUY A JOLLA PHONE! My Jolla phone was a huge disappointment! Mobile reception was awful and WiFi via eduroam cannot be used with standard settings. In addition the charger only worked when arranged in a certain angle and eventually didn't work at all anymore. When I returned the phone they charged me 90$ for 1 missing cable - no chance to send it to them afterwards. I feel ripped off.

 • Can you please help me get one too.Am also a Nigerian and devoid of a functional smartphone now, with this a Nokia-like phone those of us who're Nokia friends can feel the torch again. Thanks

 • Well i am in nigeria too been on this phone since december 2014 it is fast in handling somethings but slow in response to some android apps and with this 2.0 on which i am basing this comment on battery lasts longer

 • Installed Sailfish OS 2.0 yesterday. My Jolla phone is now faster, works much better and looks nicer.

 • Hi mar nyaks, I am in nigeria and I am a proud owner of this amazing device, although had a friend get it for me in Germany. Namibia is the only African country licensed to sell it, maybe you should get there since it is close to south africa, or maybe get in touch with the company that sells it through the net.

 • Hi, I'm in South Africa and in need of this jola phone. What should I do? Here is my email to those who wana help me: [email protected].

 • Are you sure you own a Jolla phone? Because if you do, almost every 1 to 2 month period they will update their OS, at first they will release to the early adopters first, sooner later(usually 1 to 2 week) they will release it globally.

 • I just bought jolla a few months back.A lot is exaggerated about this phone.I think it is terrible for 14000. It always asks for Internet connection. Rarely reads the memory card.Camera is not great either just okay.Great idea but poor execution.A really bad mistake.DON'T BUY IT.!!!!

 • Hi I had purchased jolla through snapdeal in india, Jolla smartphone is great phone, from Nokia n900 to n9 and later I started using jolla but sad to say all of sudden my jolla stopped vibrating and it is still under warranty, I sent mails to snapdeal and jolla customer care but none of them are ready to solve vibration issue jolla says contact snapdeal, and snapdeal says contact jolla, jolla has no service centres in India, I mailed jolla asking about HCL service centres to repair the phone but customer care is not ready to answer my question, from past one month I have been trying to contact jolla and snapdeal for repair, I suggest Indian jolla fans to wait till jolla setup a service centres in India till then don't buy the phone, presently the jolla phone is sold out in snapdeal. And my jolla phone is resting in a box in my cupboard.

 • Best GUI without buttons on screen

 • lol...no review until now?

 • just long press on space bar to change keyboards

 • How to change the keyboard ? or how to enable swipe input

 • Btw I have worked in HCL myself for almost a decade. The partnership between HCL and Nokia goes back almost a decade and half as HCL were the national distributors of nokia phones in India. We as employees used to get discount in nokia phones. It is not surprising that Jolla has a tie up now with HCL to service jolla phones as they were ex-nokians.

 • India is not the first market to get Jolla phone. Europe was the first. I had signed up for limited edition of Jolla they day it was announced. I waited for almost a year hoping it will get released in India soon then I decided to buy it directly from Jolla shop site from finland and shipped it to UK and then my friend brought it to India from UK...

 • HCL has a HQ in Finland, they have loads of Indian engineers coming here, India is the first market to get the Jolla Phone. The Nokia N9 OS was also developed by Indian engineers who are ex-Nokia employees in Finland.

 • Yes it will work internationally. you can purchase it from jolla shop

 • You can go ahead buy it. Jolla is releasing monthly software updates. Sailfish 2.0 will come shortly as already demoing it on Jolla tablet. There is no announcement on Jolla second phone yet. Hopefully it will be announced soon.

 • In india, Jolla service is done by HCL...

 • hi I want this jolla phone but my question is any service centers are available or not, if available where. please give me answer

 • I am very eager to purchase jolla smartphone. when they are release new version? could anyone please tell me

 • Is this available and will work internationally? I'm from the Philippines and I want to try this one. Can you give me a link on where to purchase this one online?

 • Hi, I'd like to get this phone so how do I go about it as I'm from Malaysia

 • @kanishka! Congrats at first on an excellent buy! There are two apps, 'Aptoide' & 'Yandex' that are available in the Jolla Store. Download these and therefrom u can access Android apps. But on the other hand try out native Jolla apps. They are real good.

 • Try apptoide. Its built in. And works as good as google

 • Hi guys..got this phone yesterday. Can anyone pls explain or post a link on how to get Google play & services working? Thanks.

 • Does quiz up work on Jolla when you install google

 • coming from it's predecessor the nokia n9 and using this telephone feels as an upgrade. It's responding fast and the native and also android applications work really good. there is an obvious small drawback of having android and native applications an that is the android applications are not able to see the native apps. the other way around does work though. It takes some work to get the google play operational on the phone but it does pay of in being able to run all of the apps without issues.

 • Ok I've just had my Jolla for almost two days. Still getting used to it..but.it looks promising.

 • Lol. Live a little. You sound like Grinch. Lol. The o's is improving every month. Just takes time. Look at android its took years and its still rubish

 • If you dont have what to do with money, then throw them away for an obscurious os and chinese made phone with astronomical prices!

 • Amazon uk. But I you buy the Jolla tablet 64gb. You get the phone almost free. From Jolla site. I ordered my tablet and phone this morning

 • guys what online shopping store has this?i want buy one

 • Update to Sailfist OS 1.0.8.21 (Tahkalampi) -- Yes, it is possible to transfer contacts from google+ to this phone. I had before the Motorola RAZR XT910. Phone works from google+.

 • new update today.great work. 1.1.1.26 Vaarainjärvi

 • new update today.great work. 1.1.1.26 Vaarainjärvi

 • Hi, I'm playing clash of clans in my moto G and saved it in google+. So, when I buy a Jolla device, can I transfer the same account in moto to this device ??

 • Hi! I`m Brazilian and I would like to buy it in total black colour. How could I be buying it from this shop story? My e-mail is [email protected]

 • @[email protected] - can you please direct me to install jolla on my n9? Hey jithuchavady, ask the same question at Twitter "JollaHQ" or see&ask forum "maemo.org" or see Wikipedia.

 • I think it is worth to see specification and details of Jolla Tablet to find out what are advantages. And eventually use discount which is to be closed in less then 20hours. In my case this is true multitasking and safety of my data including contacts and professional data, as loosing them can lead me to trouble or can feed my direct competitors if they would get them. Jolla provide me both advantages. As Wikipedia says: Jolla Tablet's Sailfish OS can run its own native apps and Android apps, downloaded via the Jolla Store or any other Android app marketplaces. A widely understood Linux software can be used (in both console/terminal or graphic mode, either as compatible binaries or compiled with actual The Sailfish OS SDK), the OS use RPM Package Manager[6] by default. This is important for all admins. The Sailfish OS as a full Linux gives ability to supervise remotely any services or servers. There are plenty Lion inux or Android tools. Jolla Tablet CPU is Intel so x86. Note that Jolla does not break sessions like others, so having a connection allow to stay connected several hours undisturbed. And here comes true multitasking (after Wikipedia): Live Multitasking on Linux MeeGo Sailfish OS allows different apps to run simultaneously, parallelly in the same time, and independently. Among other advantages multitasking allows to switch between any running software (also Android to Sailfish and vice versa) in the fly. User can see all running apps in one single multitasking view, from which can directly control running and minimised apps like e.g.: to change music track or to play and pause video stream, without opening the app in full or to call/answer/take a picture without breaking, all of those mentioned above, players activities. This way of interaction is impossible with other mobile OSes which freeze apps temporally in a background without access, in contrary to true multitasking. That means that when I have opened a session to correct or maintain a server I can leave it, and eg. make a call to sb or pick up a call from an senior staff to instruct me what to do,and session still will be active, not any frozen etc.. that is really important, as otherwise I would have to log in again from the beginning. Jolla allow me not to go through all this every 15minutes. I can do my job faster and I am more moveable, as I can take Jolla with me anywhere and alarms will let me know if anything would require my attention or intervention. This is really advantage. As I assume Linux tools to be way better, Jolla Tablet due to Intel CPU is x86, and Linux Sailfish OS gives me advantage of using terminal/console mode what is more convenient for me - all that makes me to think I will have a dream machine for my purposes. Also I will have with Jolla Tablet possibility to launch all kinds of: Sailfish native soft + Linux huuuuge library of soft + Android apps + eventually some MeeGo software also. That give me more software possible then any Android device have..... And all this for that price?? For me this is a game-changer.

 • can you please direct me to install jolla on my n9? [email protected]

 • the most featured thing about jolla is its multitasking power to have so many apps running without a lag. it is truest form of multitasking i've seen after symbian an meego..... i can play a video in the background and its still runnin on the cover.. all its intuitiveness makes it soo rather unique than anu other mobile operating system...

 • There is no inforation about a new device, but Jolla Tablet. But for sure they are working on something new, like a new Jolla.

 • Friends is any new device coming from jolla mobiles...??? Except tablet

 • I disagree with your comments. First of all, google play works flawlessly in my jolla. Never once I have seen the message "Google play stopped working"...I guess you must have done a corrupt installation for the phone to behave it this way... Secondly wifi works perfectly, not once I had wifi connectivity issues. Third, camera is 8 MP and not 8 MB...hope that's a typo from your end....picture quality is good and the camera UI itself is great... I have installed some 50 apps from google playstore and it works brilliantly without any issues...infact I installed Real racing 3 and it works really smooth..... The only negative point I have is the screen quality is not that great in sunlight...Apart from that its a brilliant phone!!

 • ideal specs for successor: sailfish 2.0 5-inch 16M color FHD IPS LCD, corning gorilla glass 4 150Mbps DL/50Mbps UL support bluetooth v4.0, wifi 802.11ac, NFC, DLNA 16GB, 2GB RAM, Micro SD up to 64GB 13MP Camera, 1080p video, OIS, AF, dual-LED flash, 3.2MP front camera quad-core 1.9GHz cpu 2420mAh battery

 • Sorry put my tablet opinion in the wrong place just realised.

 • Unless you can use a tablet as a phone, it becomes quite usless, having 2 devices just doesn't make sense. Should have had alot more powerful specs as well.

 • If Jolla haven't android apps support than obvious its a worst phone..

 • jolla tablet !

 • Yes, he said the truth

 • oh come on -_- source?

 • It's not the company Nokia that makes the N1. Foxconn just paid them to use their brand.

 • Nice to hear that Nokia launched N1 tab. Now Nokia can collaborate with Jolla to launch new devices after 2016 as Nokia is bound by agreement with Microsoft. Now as Microsoft is ditching Nokia brand, good chances for Nokia to resurrect after 2016. But I don't want Nokia to come out with Android devices.

 • A mid range phone with, a high range price.

 • They need make some low and middle range smartphones.

 • i'll buy it off you

 • I was one of the first ones who got a Jolla, so I've been using it for nearly a year now. At this point it is simply impossible for me to keep using it anymore, so I have to buy another phone - and believe me, it will not be another Jolla. Apps. Ok. The thing you'll see most frequently on Jolla is "Google Play stopped working". Interesting, 'cause you can't even get Google Play on the bloody thing in the first place. But what it means is that basically 85% of Android Apps do not work. None of the native Google apps work. Gmail is the only thing you can use, but not very well. You can't see the headlines of emails for example. This alone is reason enough NOT to buy this piece of ****. Getting wifi to work well is apparently impossible. Even a 3G-connection only works from time to time. The camera is crap. 8MB my ***. The battery dies during a work day, if you use the phone for anything. So what can you do with Jolla? If you keep it connected to the charger 24/7 you can text and call someone. But even that doesn't work as well as it should. The only reason I stuck with this phone for ten months is that I paid too much for it to shove it to the back of the drawer after a few weeks of use. But at this point I have no choice. My conscience won't let me sell it to anyone, because it would undoubtedly be a disappointment to him. Jolla is the s*ittiests phone I have ever had. I'm completely baffled by the fact that so many of the internet reviews are so positive. Either the Jolla guys have hired a heck of a gang to write them, or the product guality is very inconsistent and I was unlucky enough to get a very poor product. But I'm not by any means the only one who is having trouble with Jolla. It is just not worth it. All the frustration it has caused me... Not to mention I bought it for 399 euros! In all honesty I have to say, don't buy it.

 • The one good thing about Jolla is that it does not have servers in US which means they won't spy on the user data and this is one of the biggest advantages of having them.

 • I too have the 1020 and specs wise the 1020 may be better but the Jolla OS just looks so damn interesting! Windows-nothing wrong with it by I'm beginning to find it boring.

 • i used so many operating system nobiles but jolla is different from any os jolla is the the best and fastest os

 • Excellent news,used waze before

 • Wow,what a nice phone, used It a week and simply love It,56% battery left after a day of normal use, with my android phone I alredy had to charge It.thumbs up !

 • got the update 9,'uitukka' today! in my earlier post i had said about the subpar native browser speed.well, now it has become quite fast, and gives the chrome on my moto x a run for its money!

 • today i downloaded nokia here maps beta. offline navigation works great.

 • how is the clarity of camera??

 • I could not restrain Myself from posting about the issue of pricing! people, we should not compare with xiaomi.moto g would be a fair comparison. despite being a dualcore ,it gets 17.5 In antutu.that is the same as moto g. But if u start comparing the os, the jolla phone will blow anything else out of the water, Ios combined. Mx player works flawlessly for those of u wondering .

 • i had seen bad performance of the android layer in reviews, like all the android apps open in one window only.so i had thought i could not use this as my primary phone.but after a week of using this i have made my moto x As the secondary phone,Such gReat is the ui. The android apps work flawlessly.and the battery life is also quite good. The native browser Is very slow, but using the android dolphin remedies it.

 • I had the n9 and it was hands down the best OS/phone I've ever had my only main gripe was the camera meego + 808 pureview should have been a beast. I have been using WP and out of the main OS is BY FAR my favourite as it is simple elegant and nokia hardware. But I was able to get a jolla 5 days ago... it started a bit rocky too few apps awkward navigation but as time passed I have started to see the possibilities. It is amazing not only what the OS can become in the future but such an amazing experience on a midrange hardware? Wow! Jolla is now my primary phone with the lumia 1020 being the secondary... Jolla WELL DONE!

 • just got my Jolla phone.amazing Os.excellent work ex Nokia workers.

 • agree with you who loved the N9 must get the Jolla :)

 • I loved MeeGo in my N9 & now I am very a proud owner of the Jolla device :) 2 weeks in my pocket were enough to make me fall in love again!

 • It will be better if you improve your knownledge. And english as well. :)

 • do you ever look all the specs. yes, jolla has a user replaceable battery.

 • Any chance of an in-depth review by gsmarena? Would be interesting to see a quantitative verification of long battery life...

 • jolla battery life is awesome guys.. I charged last day evening & It's battery still hav 49% ..in the mean time I charged twice my another big branded mobile.. Lol I took pics, use wifi for even 3 hrs.. Even we play a song or videos .. There's not even single percentage going down, after a long time I'm getting rid of tension for battery ..This reminds me the old Nokia phone.. Well done Jolla...!!!

 • Waiting is over... hands on jolla.. different, unique &nice experience .. No heat Pblm... This is the NG OS (New Generation )

 • i am marketing executive last six month.i think jolla is best but this market is not support to new brand. there is two company tata and maruti in four vicle. both is best and new in india hundai and ford r strgler so jolla is best in fether with price but if company want to big to loose some money and spend in marketing.

 • Is there direct video calling without internet? May I know d phone is heating too much? Pls giv reply I want 2 buy Nokia jolla urgent ! My email : [email protected]

 • the thing u have think

 • shall we change the os to android?

 • Jolla has user replaceable battery. if you are looking for FM radio, please get a radio or any other mobile. Jolla is a revelation of a device with unique UI OS and otherhalf innovation.

 • Jolla ... Placed the order...!!! Now Waiting for u..

 • Highly disappointed as there is no radio. Radio & user replaceable battery is a must-have for me. High end phones from few manufacturers don't have radio or user replaceable battery. Does Jolla belongs to one of them?

 • How is the battery life ? And is the quality like Chinese xiaomi

 • Yes I have the jolla and I have been using it even before it was officially launched in India. It is wonderful and does not have any heating issues.

 • Does anybody got jolla Mobile hands on in india ? Wish to know is adapted to our climate...??heat problems... like anything...

 • Jolla is actually a follow up of the ideas of the N9.The price of such a phone is not that heavy and I've had some asthonising remarks like:"Wow! You have a Jolla! Where did you get it? I would like to take a look at it, may I?" And after, after giving tips on how to use it, they say:"Amazing, where can I get one". This, and belonging to a strong community will make the Jolla and the SailfishOS live and kicking.Still have my Nokia N9 alive, a MotoE around but do use my Jolla all the time.Looking forward to some serious use of "The Other Half" which would truly make the BIG dfference from any other phone.

 • it's now upgradable to 1.0.8.9

 • I have posted my review comments earlier...so check past few pages in the read opinions page...

 • Jolla Sailfish OS is very reliable and not prone to crashes like android.. its gesture based OS, so it requires minimal navigation and it is designed for one handed usage which is not the case with other OS'es like IOS / Android.... there is a bit of learning curve, maybe like two or 3 days...but once you got comfortable, you would never go back to using IOS/android as it will look primitive and time consuming. I have been an N900 user for nearly 5 years and now switched to Jolla!!

 • I am thinking of buying Jolla. I have to be online all day. I check a lot of emails with MS Office attachments and zip files and pdfs. I love trying out diff apps also. My smart phone will take the place of a computer. SO I need to know how reliable is Jolla phone and sailfish OS.

 • Yes. From the look of it I think us Indians buy stuff only if it is sold for free. Jokes apart for Indians who would like to experience a totally different mobile experience, Jolla would be a go thing. As far as I know Saifish releases updates pretty fast. Way to go, Jolla.

 • Hey Guys, Just want to check if there any warranty for jolla in India. Does any third party supports it?

 • I was referring to Jolla phone Version 2.0

 • FM radio is missing... disappointed..

 • Jolla phone is awesome... I just ordered it..

 • OS looks good, the specs seems to be of a mid-ranger, but 16499 Rs for the phone seems to be a bit higher. I would say around 11.5k to 12k seems to be fine as far as the Indian markets are concerned. Doubt is someone would risk in excess of 15k for Jola

 • jolla launched in india at 16500/-

 • Launched in Snapdeal. Price Rs.16499/- very aggressive pricing. Good luck for Jolla! Hurry!!!! Too bad I bought for Rs.30000 from finland...no regrets though...

 • It is Launched at ambitious 16K

 • Hey that is jolla that almost price around of ₹25000+ as it not a normal range it is a premium range smartphone.

 • If it launched in 6000 to 7000 price range means it will rule the indian market.

 • yes if it supports android apps it will support those apps

 • the pricing will play a big factor in India.. 4.5inch screen, 8mp camera, 245ppi etc seems to be so less for the price.. i think it costs almost 28k in India.. if it is launched at 12k-15k it will be very very good amidst the strong chineese infiltration like remi and xiaomi etc...

 • i think it may appear only in 2015???

 • if they'd just fix all the drawbacks and update the screen resolution i'm in

 • jolla supports android applications as well as its native applications. What a great phone it is!

 • Is this phone supports whatsapp n all android apps..? I m frm india n i m interested to buy this

 • Well then, you buy jolla now itself and enjoy the time. I don't see Jolla2 coming any time soon. It may well take over a year!

 • I am still thinking of buying this phone and try out Sailfish and Jolla. But is is worth it? What about MWC 2015, will there be a new Jolla phone again?

 • I think Blackberry Z3 is lacking gorilla glass,8MP Camera,2MP front Camera,Removable Battery,16GB internal storage which are all found in Jolla. But Hardware is not a big issue here on my side Software is,is Saifish OS that makes this phone a little bit expensive, and Saifish OS is completely different from Blackberry Z3 OS although the experience is close in some ways. Saifish OS is more dynamic(its possible get several different experiences from the same OS). About 3G&4G in America i dont know why,but am sure its possible to enable it,and according to Marc Dillon many things are possible to be added to the phone through "the Other Half" ecosystem.

 • Good phone, but very expensive and still does not support American 3G/4G bands. The BlackBerry Z3 has a similar operating system, style, size, and specs for about a third of the cost.

 • many good opinion 4 this phone... im looking forward to buy one of this unique smartphone

 • hi. is the speaker good quality and loud. does it compare to lumia 1020 and htc one

 • you are welcome!

 • hi. is the speaker good quality and loud. does it compare to lumia 1020 and htc one

 • Thanks A Lot for the article, i really appreciate it. Thanks again.

 • The loudspeaker is actually monaural (left opening). The right opening contains a microphone.

 • check the article on jollatides.com.... it has detailed steps on how to install playstore in jolla... you need to enable developer mode to do that though. its fun!

 • Source: Make sure you have a Jolla account and the Jolla device can access the Jolla Store. Go to |- Settings | System Settings | Developer Mode -|. Because your Jolla device can access the Jolla Store, a Terminal app is installed now. Activate Developer mode. Activate Remote connection (either enter and [Save] a password or [Generate] it; if you generate it, you have to edit it slightly before the [Save] button becomes available). Using the Jolla device, open the browser and download The file is downloaded to directory /home/nemo/Downloads. Open the Terminal app installed during step 2. The SailfishOS command prompt will appear. You are logged in as user, the prompt is a $. Go to the download directory: Enter cd ~/Downloads [Enter] In case of an English Terminal keyboard layout, the ~ key is the shifted = key. Unzip the file: Enter unzip gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip [Return]. Get root access: Enter devel-su [Enter]. When requested: Enter your password (as specified during step 4) and [Enter]. The prompt changes from $ to #. Now, you have root access to the Jolla device! Be careful! Go to the destination directory: Enter cd /opt/alien/system/app [Enter]. Copy the following files one by one (you do not need all the other ones unzipped before): cp /home/nemo/Downloads/system/app/Phonesky.apk . (Do not forget the dot at the end of the line.) cp /home/nemo/Downloads/system/app/GoogleLoginService.apk . cp /home/nemo/Downloads/system/app/GoogleServicesFramework.apk . By now, your Terminal window will look like: bash-3.2$ cd ~/Downloads bash-3.2$ unzip gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip inflating: ( many, many lines ) Inflating: system/usr/srec/en-US/symbols bash-3.2$ devel-su Password: bash-3.2# cd /opt/alien/system/app bash-3.2# cp /home/nemo/Downloads/system/app/Phonesky.apk . bash-3.2# cp /home/nemo/Downloads/system/app/GoogleLoginService.apk . bash-3.2# cp /home/nemo/Downloads/system/app/GoogleServicesFramework.apk . Reboot the Jolla handset (switch off and on using the power button).Alternatively: Restart Alien Dalvik service: Enter systemctl restart aliendalvik.service [Return]. End root access: Enter exit [Return]. End Terminal: Enter exit [Return]. Open app File Browser. Goto directory /opt/alien/system/app. The File Browser opens in the /home/nemo/ directory. To get to the root directory you have to tap the 2 upper left dots, then you can go down to the app directory. Tap file Phonesky.apk. A new page opens with details of this file. From the pulley menu select Install. The Google Play store is being installed, a corresponding icon placed on the launcher screen. Using File Browser you may clean up the Downloads directory from all the files unzipped there and not required any longer. Start the Play app and log in to the Play store. Refuse all options you do not want (e.g. backup to the Google cloud). You are done.

 • Thanks for the reply,if it supports 4G that is good then.would you mind help me know in advance how to hack and install google playstore. i am sure yandex doesnt have much android apps yet.

 • Yes Jolla supports 4G perfectly...

 • Till now, whoever has seen my Jolla phone and the Sailfish OS UI, everyone was like "wowww that is really good".... this is really unique...that's what i want in a phone and not something which every tom, dick and harry has.... If ferrari can be bought by everyone, then it loses it exclusiveness...

 • Thanks for the info about current Jolla's price, actually i didnt expect the price for the device to drop that fast, this sounds good news to me. Absence of earphone is not a big issue to me, i will find one. What about 4G,does the phone really support it perfectly?? or that is only on paper.

 • definitely when people from Jolla do it better next time in terms of specifications, gonna put the device to the safe place in the market, But Still brand names popularity matter. To beat developed and well known companies like Samsung,Sonny,Nokia and Apple needs much money, time and effort on advertizement,e.t.c.....the idea of "IF YOU DONT POSSESS THE Samsung,Sonny,HTC devices, you look cheap" in most people's mind Makes Me Sick when i think of Jolla.

 • Jolla's price already dropped to 349 Euro incase you didn't know. Btw the ear phones that come with the any mobile phone normally is not of superior quality. So Jolla did a good thing. Go for a high spec sennheiser ear phone. Jolla will definitely succeed and since they provided android support, you have lacs of apps available on your hand. What more do you want? Jolla 2.0 is gonna rock the world I'm sure!!!

 • really like this phone,If next model has a full hd screen and moore powerful processor and ram they can really succed I think, today all is about the specs of mobile phones

 • i will wait for the price to drop to 350 Euro so as i can purchase,as for me its very over priced but there is none i can do since i want to be unique and unlike, owning it its like making a history for myself as i made it for N9 if U know what i mean(first and last ever phone to run on MeeGo OS as well as the first ever phone made to run on Sailfish OS). I'm a bit sad the Phone is heavy and doesnt come with headphone but seeing Gorilla Glass there, removable Battery, the concept of other half and Android support made me happy on the other hand. MY CURIOSITY IS; Can Jolla Company succeed in this project?? am afraid what happened to N9 might occur to Jolla phone because if this first Jolla phone doest make it in the market, that will be the end of Jolla. The second Model of Jolla phone DEPENDS much on this First model's sells. Jolla is a small Company that doesnt have big capital yet to comeback from loss and remember in business profits count. From what i see the PRICE of this phone Gonna make Jolla Fall as the same way as i see iPhones.Designing and Developing an OS like Sailfish is not a joke but they should reconsider the price for the phone,To be Honest am a bit Worried abt Jolla considering how current smartphones market is right now.

 • Some UI navigation gestures... yes the sailfish OS is designed in such a way, that you don't need to move your finger around the screen for getting things done... you can get things done just by having your finger in the middle portion of the screen and with swiping action in all directions... on each thumbnail or cover in the home screen, there are two icons at the bottom.... to access the left icon, you need to slow press on the tile and swipe from left to right within the tile to invoke the left icon action...similarly if you swipe from right to left within the tile triggers right icon action...in this way, u dont have to open the running app to do the task... every app tile has left to right and right to left action with in the tile... again, when you move out of the tile and do the gesture, it will have different functionality pertaining to the OS.... even calling, smsing a contact, or sending email can all be done using gestures, even in browsing you can launch new tabs from home screen without opening the app..... similarly when you swipe left to right or right to left when the app is open, it brings you to the home screen... also when you go inside an app menus or go several levels under settings etc.... you can go back to the previous screens, just like swiping from right to left just like flicking pages in a book or left to right to go back into sub levels again... you can also close a running app by swiping from top to bottom, similarly lock the screen by swiping from top to bottom in the home screen... closing apps takes long press on the homescreen and then clicking on the x icon on each running app or close all apps from the pulley menu... these are some of the gestures i can describe... better watch this in youtube video to get more realistic feel....

 • Well, I am truly excited using Jolla Phone. The UI is really smooth and responsive... First 2 days, it was bit difficult to understand the gestures and then after that, it was really wonderful to use. If you list out some 5 tasks to perform continuously like writing sms, writing email, deleting email, deleting some pics, setting alarm etc and do this in Jolla and any other phone IOS / android...I am sure you can complete the tasks much faster in Jolla than other phones because of minimal navigation and effortless multitasking. My friend who uses Samsung Note 3 after seeing the gestures and navigation in my Jolla phone told and I quote "I really liked it and that stock android has way too many clicks to do things and samsung ROM's has much made it much easier but nowhere to close to what you have described...this is so cool".. Btw my friend is an android developer himself... Jolla comes with yandex android store... but there is a hack to install google playstore...its easy to do it... I installed it successfully and till now, I would have downloaded about 30 apps from playstore and everything works perfectly...I installed many mobile bank apps and it works smooth... I really thank Jolla for providing android support... Coming to Jolla's Nokia HERE maps...its just awesome... so fast and up to date.. Last week I went to a temple in a remote place outside chennai and I used the HERE maps navigation, it worked flawlessly.... I dont see any faults in OS as such... Camera is good, battery life is very good..my phone is always online ...either through 3G or wifi..2 hours of phone calls, browsing, downloading apps...whatsapp, sms all the time...it comes to roughly 1.5 days...mid spec hardware is compensated by the superfast OS....It detects the theotherhalf automatically and changes the ambience theme accordingly....ambience really changes the look of the UI and the apps..everything is almost transparent....Negative points are the screen has bit poor visibility in sunlight...I really can't think of any other drawback as yet.... first time buyers who havent used N900 or N9 can really buy Jolla phone without any worries about app support as you have 8 lac apps from android!!!! I am already waiting for the next model from Jolla!..

 • Please dude, post an in depth review of the Sailfish OS, particularly navigation system on the UI, keyboard if Swype input is available or not, the Maps, settings, and restrictions. Please

 • Just came back from Helsinki where the DNA-phone chain is selling it by the counter.Getting the grips on it now, still - it was a big jump from my all time favourit, the N9.Give me a couple of days i will be into it.Obviously a fantastic phone, shame that you have to be a nerd to get into it basically.Frustrationlevel 8 pluss.

 • I signed up for limited edition last year and waited for Jolla to launch in India.. nothing happened and I lost my patience... So I ordered the Jolla phone from finland and shipped it to an UK address where my friend lives and he gave the phone to his colleague who was coming back to India and I collected it from him... Only regret is I should have done this last year itself.... the phone is bloody good!!! perfect replacement for my N900....

 • hi ganpat , where did u get jolla smartphone?

 • I installed few android apps from yandex store in jolla and it works perfectly. btw yandex has over 100000 android apps. But the killer was yesterday, I installed google play store in jolla and installed some android apps from playstore...works awesome!!!

 • Is there folder messaging view option avlble? Can we create folders in msgs?

 • I like this phone. Waiting for GSMArena to put a detailed review of the Jolla phone, Can anyone confirm if Sailfish OS has folder messaging view option like in Symbian?

 • Yes I received the tahkalampi update instantly when I turned on the phone for the first time. coincidentally, I got the phone on my hand just after a day tahkalampi was released. It works awesome!!!!

 • Still lower than Xiaomi Mi3

 • An Iphone is the same way yet people buy it just because of its name which has Apple attached to it

 • Hi How is the phone?

 • i believe its coming to India with snapdeal so updates will be there

 • do you receive updates even after taking to India?

 • Updated my brand new Jolla phone with the latest update Tahkalampi... that phone really is a wow factor!!! my wife an iphone lover said it just after having a glance at the phone! the phone after the latest update....is really so fluid and super smooth....can't control the excitement.... takes a bit of time to get used to the gestures..I like the uniqueness of the phone... I don't have time to do detail review of the phone for the next 2 weeks....but i will post my review after that!!!

 • yes you can use the phone in india that is purchased from uk.

 • Hi, I would like to know if I can use the mobile in India if I buy in UK ? Thanks in advance..

 • Finally I received my Jolla phone yesterday through my friend who came from UK. Can't wait to setup the phone and replace my 4.5 year old Nokia N900.... Will post my review in the coming days!!!

 • An awesome phone. Jolla launcher will place it at Zenith. As it reach in pakistan I m going to purchase it.

 • LTE bands supported by the Jolla TOH. Band 3 (1800 MHz) Band 7 (2600 MHz) Band 20 (800 MHz)

 • MotoX is also quite expensive condiering it's specs... But not everything is determined by Specs.... My Moto X is one of the best phones I have used (which included One X+ and E988 among others...)...

 • and the software got updated today.

 • It's not all about the specs, not at all!! It's about how the SW uses the available power... Some will never get it.

 • This phone is 3 times the cost it should be given the specifications. I see no reason to buy it.

 • new price for the jolla phone today

 • when the hell this phone will be availible in asia :(

 • Don009... it's easy to outspec this phone if compered to a phonecompany that was one and first fully movible compered it's predessesor's and a os that is buggy to. this finnish company of ex-nokia developers of the outstanding nokia n9, is a selfworking phone-in-progress group, not relying on large companys like microsoft, google and a company being in business for over 35 years.

 • Don009... it's easy to outspec this phone if compered to a phonecompany that was one and first fully movible compered it's predessesor's and a os that is buggy to. this finnish company of ex-nokia developers of the outstanding nokia n9, is a selfworking phone-in-progress group, not relying on large companys like microsoft, google and a company being in business for over 35 years.

 • Good job by ex-Nokia engrs. Just to let them know that africa(especially nigeria)and India should not be left out of their marketing plans if they intend to become a global force to be reckoned with.

 • I love my jolla phone and the sailfish os. just bought another TOH in black this time. Wanna correct the specs on sound, there is only a mono speaker and not stereo as gsm arena has written. I emailed gsm arena about it, but they has not corrected the error yet.

 • "New Nokia"!!!. ;)

 • hi just wanted to see how did you manage to get the contacts with whatsapp to sync as mine usually require the gmail platform to be able to function to sync. with my jolla gmail i can download but through other email platform providers.

 • I bought my Jolla during Christmas time and I'm stil really happy with it. It's different and I like Sailfish. Whatsapp(=mitakuuluu) works perfectly, and it does sync the contacts. I also use e.g. Facebook, hotmail and gmail. I can also share the internet connection with other devices. Those are for me the most important things, and they work well. No problems. Note that the software gets regular updates, also the apps. So user experiences and their possible problems, that are more than few weeks old, most probably does not describe the current situation anymore!

 • Specs listed here are wrong (sadly). This is correct: 2G: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 3G: 900 / 2100 4G: 800 / 1800 / 2600 So, only 2G (Edge) possible in America...

 • Sure..much appreciated. Thanks!

 • Going to recieve it on this friday. Will sure let you know my feedback. Thanks

 • Jolla is a start up, completely new player but with previous experience. You shouldn't expect they've got their own factories. Jolla did a lot during last time, designet new device, developed new OS. They've released unique new product from scratches. Device isn't quite cheap but isn't so expensive as well. Some other companies selling same made in china devices for double money. Just give them a chance. I'm really happy with my Jolla.

 • The phone is made in China. Jolla itself is very, very small and does not own factories. I think the old Nokia factory in Salo, Finland (which made Eseries and Nseries, IIRC) is being transformed into a mall.

 • I would like to know where exactly is made this phone? Write there Made in Finland? Or made by Jolla in China?!? There are not anymore now factories in EU after almost all their production moved to Asia. And anyway, the price for this phone is astronomical, only if you dont have what to do with money... And the chances for this OS seems to be 0%.Thanks

 • I have ordered it and received a few weeks ago. Nightmare to use. Sure it has android but limited. Whatsapp and viber don't sync with contacts. Gmail does not download on gmail icon has to go through the phone's email. Don't where where downloaded disappears to definitely does not go to sd card. On top of this if you like swiping like the way blackberry does then you would love the phone. Anyone one in Dubai can contact me and buy it it's like new. Used for two days.

 • No! not yet... i was curious about if someone from the country is using it. When did you order? please Post your experience especially about connectivity and call quality in India

 • I don't think that you should just look the specifications on paper. If this phone comes to your country you should probably hear user opinions who are using it. Sailfish OS is promising and in many ways it can definitely defeat android OS if proper marketing techniques are applied in future.

 • Hi. Has anyone got this phone. I'm very interested.

 • I have ordered one..yet to recieve it. Are you using Jolla?

 • Is there any Jolla user from India?

 • It´s a great phone and it´s the only european one! (ofcourse for the SailfishOS) And price isn´t so much important, than many here think. If this would be the case, what about Apple! And hopefully without an NSA Client ;)

 • Doesn't worth more than 200 USD. If Jolla wants to sell in India then this phone should be priced at minimum 9000 INR as Moto G is selling for around 12000 INR having better specs and the most popular Android OS otherwise Jolla fails. China is a very competitive market and emerging markets are getting tough to explore for a new company, so it Jolla wants this to sell, it should be priced lower than Moto G.

 • in mars you can download new fw,will be out of beta stage then.until then the phone is just running a beta version of Sailfish Os..

 • The phone does not work with the gmail platform from android. Whatsapp does not sync with contacts and everything that caused the demise of blackberry through swiping is used here making it an outdated nightmare phone. For all of you who want an android platform buy a fully integrated and supported android phone. Another note w Hen downloading music through mo3 downloaded from June android platform can't for the life of me find the downloaded songs anywhere.

 • Just got the phone today from Europe. I am comparing to the phones which I am using which are the lumia 1520,htc one, xperia s and an iPhone. The phone is sleek and got it with three color jackets. Pros: looks nice and feels good in a pocket. That's it. Cons : Jackets don't do anything to the phone as promised when changed. Phone is tiny unless you have small phones. Whatever you hated about the swiping that caused the demise of the blackb

 • Sailfish... it's an OS based on Nokia's MeeGo. Developed by former Nokia employees who worked on MeeGo. It works like how MeeGo worked, swiping OS.

 • super phone is JOLLA in feuchar.

 • Seems to be a cool phone. Do you guys have any idea about launch of this cell in India. Particularly... Thanks.....

 • What Is Selfish ? Does it Work like Android...?

 • I think i will like the OS, Maemo5 was awesome, i sometimes miss it. Its the hardware i do not like, lower midrange hardware isnt suitable to pull a full feature Linux cores, this need CPU/GPU performance at least the level of Xperia SP (upper midrange) or preferably like the 2013 HTC One, or better. And the display is no less than a disaster, i threw out my Note 2 due to pixelated and unpleasant text quality, and that was 267 PPI, then what about this, at 245?? No no no!

 • Battery life is very impressive. I think the OS is the most resource efficient like Symbian and it's the only OS to provide real multitasking through active covers. Finally, after a long time, we have a real capable OS. Hats off to Jolla engineers for creating a unique and beautiful OS by the name of Sailfish. Just hope the user base of Sailfish OS widens soon so that developers would be interested in making native applications for the OS. I'd buy this phone straight if it was available in my country..

 • Just ran browsermark 2.0 on Sailfish browser. Got 2098 points which is about the same that best android browser (firefox) I tested on Jolla got. Quite an improvement over that 1300-1400 score it had 2 months ago. Seems to be on par with 1.4 ghz s400 droids, so is that gecko engine so bad after all?

 • It is stereo. N95 also had. Two speakers from the bottom of the phone. No you perceptiveness. :)

 • There is no stereo speaker. There is only one speaker behind the holes on the left side. Microphone is at the right.

 • Ordered my Jolla yesterday.. looking forward for one of the best mobile experiences..waiting for it to be shipped asap..first ever Jolla in Bangladesh.. anyone from my place is welcome to see the device..cheerS..

 • i want to know when this phone releases in india

 • wow impresive battery life time

 • lots of android and windows apps need more ram and fast cpu that this phone dosent offer. the specs of this phone may be good for its own Os but not for other apps and games. They are asking too much money for a low spec device.

 • as a Nokia N 9 owner,( have two 64GB versions) i am waiting for the Jolla to arrive in my country, many complaints about the price and low specs, Meego had low specs compared to other phones at launch but did not need higher ones and is a brilliant phone and unique, as for the price not that expensive and as early adopters we have to accept that there will be a few problems, and the operating system will be improved with updates, once a N9 owner and used to the swipe u i no other phone can replace it until Jolla arrived.

 • its really a able competitor of android

 • i want this thing sooooo badly but it isn't released in my goddamn country yet

 • Guys frist I would like to give a massive thank you to the guys at jolla on such a great job they have done. To the serious business now the handset its mind blowing and all of that is just down to the share elegance it which it responds too you the user. If like me you were big on the nokia n9 well this move is just a fitting upgrade to such a legendary device and jolla does not disappoint by any means necessar. Some users have complained about how hard its to get use to but trust me if you use an n9 or used an n9 and loved this you will be able to use with your eyes close no problems at all. If you are worried about the price tag please dont be because when you begin to use this handset you are going to wonder why were there dbout in your mind.

 • I completely agree. I'm sick of companies like Samsuck and LG locking the bootloaders and not providing the source which is violating GPL. Sailfish just needs time and it will be an excellent OS. I hope this is successful.

 • nice new OS.... its not and android or a windows phone 8 but it gives the best of both worlds.... atsetseeee

 • its not about specs its about optimizing os and hardware ,remember its not lagdroid and its totally worth 400 eur

 • Paying for about 400 euro on the OS? Just look at the specs! BELOW AVERAGE! And if it is real that we can install sailfish os on android devices then paying for 400 for this mobile is not worth it.

 • i like this phone

 • When will this phone arrive in Indonesia???

 • is it available in Indonesia?? please let me know

 • is that available in india?????? pls rpl me i m wating for this amezing product...

 • Ex staff of Nokia? Pretty darn good people, please keep going despite any hardship, coz I have a feeling tht Jolla will be the next biggest thing, just how Nokia was, years ago, learn from the mistakes, Im sure you guys can do pretty good. Keep up the work.. I will buy your phone for sure whenever its in my country

 • Is this phone already available on ebay?

 • It is a quick, and interestingly different phone. The Android apps that I have tried work fine and fast, although I haven't played any games on it yet. The native apps are few and basic at the moment, but they are starting to arrive, with a nice indie WhatsApp alternative. Until then there are the Android Apps (Skype, FB, Opera, etc)

 • it's quite slim... I was suprised, expected to be thicker in my hand. Great phone, especially great OS!!

 • I'm fed up with Android, iOS, WP8 OS. From what I have seen, this Sailfish OS works smooth and it's NSA free. I hope Jolla would be successful so that they can bring some real tough competition in the market. I'm really looking forward to this phone as this is the only phone which has a Nokia feel and Symbian users won't be disappointed. I hope Jolla develops the OS pretty quick.

 • ya this is a brickphone don't u know??

 • i am user of N9 and this is continuing product. i know that the meego is the best for user experience. but nokia did not use this advantage and left intel alone. but ihave to say that jolla is the ne flagship! i had been a member from their site and pre-ordered the phone. i hope it will come to Turkiye!

 • can't wait for this phone. it is just different and unique. i don't understand how people compare sailfish os to ios or android that have been in the market for 5 years...not fair. give it couple of month and the updates will clean up the bugs...we already have 2 updates in the last 3 weeks from release. i love the passion behind that phone

 • maybe soon you can have sailfish Os on android phone

 • Hey anonymous . Iam fed up with this android and ios . I truly wanted this linux based os . It will surely rock. Wait .....

 • Please, is it available here in Nigeria GSM Market? I want the phone.

 • Price is about 400??? Yes this mobile has the latest OS but the specs are crap. I mean come on, sooner or later others will follow with the new OS and BETTER SPECS.

 • Yes, this is a new OS in the market.

 • The entire concept of the OS & design of the phone was brilliant enough. The UI itself was probably the most simple and user-friendly to navigate, but the strategy of the company was so unreasonable. How possible you want people to buy a beta prototype device with mid-range specs and a high-end price,it sucks, but the OS still a hope.

 • Is this OS new in market??

 • i want this phone

 • I like it I love it finally a good phone out there. I would get it for my company all employees. The only thing that's a most in the next model it most be smaller. should be Height: 4.5 inches Width: 2.30 inches Depth: 0.30 inch Weight: 3.95 ounces (112 grams)

 • I like it I love it finally a good phone out there. I would get it for my company all employees. The only thing that's a most in the next model it most be smaller. should be Height: 4.5 inches Width: 2.31 inches Depth: 0.30 inch (7.6 mm) Weight: 3.95 ounces (112 grams)

 • nice O.S but icant give up Windows phone8

 • i love it but i don't think if it's better and good enough for my standard.

 • Yes, it does run all Android apps

 • Good Initiative by Old Nokia people. Make the price more friendly with better marketing Network. I am from India. I will like to have a sturdy & reliable phone.

 • love the OS, like the OS10 of Blackberyy but more of the OS in Nokia N9. great that they separated and continue to make like nokia N9 phone, i preferably call it as Nokia N10

 • so thick like a brick!

 • Finally a true open source Linux phone! Although, I will wait until it matures.

 • I will buy this great phone from ex nokia engineers. We re fed up with apple/ samsung. All the beat for jolla

 • Finally my Jolla arrived!! Yeah!! :) It's great!!

 • nice phone worth the buy android apps cold be played in it

 • Sailfish OS is supposedly capable of running Android apps, his question makes sense.

 • can anyone confirm, is jolla phone can run apps like facebook twitter instagram BBM, whatsapp, skype from android?

 • What kind of crap are you smoking? This isn't an Android operating system to begin with. Get your facts together before you opt out to offer an inferior OS, thank you.

 • Yes gsmarena hands-on finally, hopeing a review will come soon.

 • Jolla will not ever a good, better try CyanogenMod, not advertising but pure truth.

 • The operating system is catchy, the Fins did a good job. When will the phone be available in Africa especially in Kenya?

 • Its out for sale in Europe now

 • Jolla Shop is currently shipping to EU countries, Switzerland and Norway. WOW ,finally.

 • nice

 • This phone and Jolla as a companybsound both very promising. I mean they wanted to come with an own OS, and they delivered. This phone is just the beginning of more. I am really thinking of purchasing this phone just to try it out, how it looks in real et etc. Looking forward for reviews.

 • Please update the specs: Head SAR 0.546 W/kg Body SAR 1.470 W/kg

 • Great! Can we expect an in depth review about Jolla phone from you? (:

 • My frend go jolla it costs 399 that os is so smooth but there is some problems you cant use that at landscape mode some android apps crash but jollateam is making lot of updates i 'll buy jolla when that is ready i'm not going to buy beta version great work from finland

 • Just got my Jolla yesterday. I like the design !!!! Swipe gestures are really intuitiv, but it takes a few hours of practice. (was the same with the N9) Everything works very fluent and very fast. The whole UI layout is just amazing, compared to Android devices (a real mess!) Some Android apps don't seem to work (flashlight says there is no camera/flash installed and a BBC Radio app just crashed), but since there are always three or more to choose from you will find one that does the job. And I am sure native apps will arrive pretty fast. I am now waiting for all the other half's to arrive like a QI charging back, maybe a physical keyboard etc. The first sailfish OS update arrived in the evening and installed itself in no time. Once it is out of beta it will be an operating system that will be a real challenge to Android, Windows and specially to the iphone (seems really old fashioned now). I really like that there is a team of dedicated people that will look after this device and bring it to the top of the smartphone (Yes, they will!)

 • LTE chip is there, and when Sailfish is out-of Beta, it is activated.

 • When is this available for sale in UK I'm interested!?!?

 • when is this phone releasing? i m waiting for it

 • madness one jolle phone sold at auction for 1390$ us

 • Sorry! 64GB memory cards work if they are on FAT32 format. Just tried it out.

 • Maximun size of the memory card is 32GB (Got the information from official Jolla Care by email)

 • Nice smartphone Sailfish OS that can run Androids apps, I hope they lower their price. So I can buy and try it.

 • sailfish update today,

 • I can easily remove the battery from my 808 PureView without any tools. Jolla phone too has a removable battery. Remember, there was a demo of Sailfish OS running on an ancient hardware, the Nokia N950? I think the OS is pretty much resources efficient like Symbian, so it would be possible to port it on Nokia 808 PureView but I shouldn't get my hopes high. Nokia already abandoned Symbian and I don't want an Android or Windows Phone. Will probably buy one Jolla phone as it comes out in Asia Pacific..

 • It won't run on an 808 pureview or a Nokia n8. Not enough RAM, and the CPU is too slow. Basically, it's an upgraded Nokia N9. For N9 users, it would sure be nice if we could upgrade to the newer sailfish OS. And the hardware specs look close enough to me... But from the perspective of an 808 pureview or N8 user, it still "seems" like a downgrade, since there is no FM transmitter and the camera is lower-resolution. At least it has a micro-SD card slot though. Can you replace the battery without any special tools?

 • Can't wait for a detailed review of the OS. Perhaps, it's possible to port Sailfish OS to Nokia 808 PureView? My fingers are crossed. This is the phone for me.

 • Very Expensive

 • price is more expensive

 • Want to order now... But it's only possible for the pre-orders.

 • I like design of Jolla.

 • I think Jolla should release one entry level phone for the emerging markets under $150. It will enable people like myself to try the OS and will help Jolla get some market share. Nokia Lumia 520 offers stellar specifications at a beautiful price and perhaps it's the only phone that helped WP8 gain market share. Keep your fingers crossed

 • I think I might be sold. Old Nokia developers and team - yes!! smart OS - smart link to android. A few good solid ticks here. Ill just wait for a model or two as it can only get better after the first cab of the rank. Well done. Keep up the good work.

 • yes It has that, look at jolla.com Extension interfaces for wireless NFC, power in/out and I2C data

 • i thought jolla has l2c data connectivity, but here it seems missed, "will this forum confirm it

 • Declared: without PRISM and no disclosure of information Responding to privacy concerns in light of the PRISM spying program that came to light in summer 2013, a company representative said the US National Security Agency (NSA) would have no access to Jolla's servers[dubious discuss]. "Jolla servers are not in US, so we are not subject to any US rules or regulations regarding disclosing information." Many see in this the Sailfish OS and Jolla's smartphone advantage over other operating systems like Windows, Android or iOS, which are from companies that allegedly grant secret services wide access to user data. source : wiki

 • agree.

 • also known as "the first one"

 • Jumped ship to android and don't regret cause this jolla stuff is imaginary and crazy. Now using S4 LTE and will be able to side load jolla OS very soon, when I get bored with android.

 • Good joke

 • I think it will beat android or samsung because it's a beautiful os.

 • sadly NSA has has not approved ps not compatible with the nsa software

 • sadly NSA has has not approved ps not compatible with the nsa software

 • not bad, anyway i will try one piece............

 • lol..you must have eagle eyes..

 • This phone fits in year 2009

 • The reviewer is obviously half blind. A good web browsing experience requires above 300 ppi and around 380 or more for nearly perfect experience, unless you never request desktop sites, most mobile sites look great at only 300 (but not at 250 and below) 245 is pathetic for text but good for video and acceptable for photo viewing.

 • If this wasn't overpriced my GF would be getting one of these instead of a MOTO G. Tough luck...

 • the screen is really good,

 • The Sailfish OS supports MOST android apps. So no worries about that.

 • yes its really amazing!!!!

 • I want only the top half of the phone...awesome...

 • Yes, it supports Android apps

 • What i read on bbc.co.uk is that, it can support some andriod application.. is it true???

 • I want to point out that my N900 had higher PPI and twice as much internal storage. And thats almost exactly 4 years ago now. If this was 720p I would buy one, but 245 PPI, seriously? I want a way out of Goggles crap apps/ads and privacy invasion but this is not it, no matter how much I miss the N900 and the real Linux experience. Please Jolla make a high end phone before I buy a BlackBerry.

 • very well said

 • You are blind and don't know what are you speaking. Better specs?-for better spying on you and make you soon their slave. jolla with l2c technologi is really so much more than a phone, the possibilitys and personalizations are numerous and great, for example you can connect a encryption hardware and be totally secure from governments and corporations, you can putt duzzleing of other sensors as well etc.etc. Be free and think free.

 • Its a brand new os,who want cloud service these days?..needs moore os than android and ios...hope burning platform will sell a lot so we can se many future sailfish devices

 • nothing special or new about this phone. specs similiar to samsung s3 1GB ram, 1.4 GHZ, 8 MP camera and 2100 mAh battery. maybe here maps will save this phone if provided offline, not by cloud service.

 • really I loved Nokia N9 & need to get this phone!!

 • i mean...the guys behind the jolla phone created the n900 and the n9. Two great phones back in their days. expecting nothing but the best

 • Jolla phone will start selling THIS WEDNESDAY. Can't wait to get mine. looks like the interest is very high for that phone. An alternative to the norm (ios and android)

 • On the image of the bottom of the phone there are two speakers.

 • Does the phone include stereo speakers? I haven't found any other website except this one that says that jolla phone has stereo speakers..

 • Jolla answers they cannot share this information si nobody van say for sure

 • I am not so sure but fm radio it's posible to be included in the other half. I think that the other half must be release in multiple variants and each person will chose that it fits, personally i will go for an i enk display Here is a list of some other half in discussion: Windscreen mount: With inbuilt wireless charger and fm transmitter) Extra storage/battery: eg. 200GB flash; 3000mah Portrait Slider keyboard: Full Qwerty/Azerty/Qwertz/Cyrillic etc variants Landscape Slider keyboard: Full Qwerty/Azerty/Qwertz/Cyrillic etc variants Landscape Slider gamepad: Gamepad for playing your favourite emulators Wireless charger: Just simple normal sized back plate with wireless charging inbuilt Presentation: Laser pointer, IR, Extra battery and storage Multimedia: Better Speakers, IR, FM TX, Battery E-ink display: Additional low power e-ink display either fold out or slider. LCD fold out display: Doubles as screen protector when closed like clam shell. Extra fold out touchscreen which could be used for eg. full sized touchscreen keyboard Solar charger: Trickle solar charger on rear Medic Half: ECG, blood pressure, pulse, temperature and other vitals you can think of. Waterproof half: Two parts make the phone water resistant (IP-7/8) but still make the phone work a 100%. Possible but needs some clever engineering so might be costly. Scanner half: Scan documents on the go (nicer then a pic in some cases.) Security half: Fingerprint scanner/ drawpad for signing stuff. Dual Sim Half: Dual sim half adds an extra sim slot where you can integrate second GSM radio and use it to make calls and send messages and cellular data. With extra battery. Rugged Outdoor half: With rangefinder, thermometer, altitude meter and barometer. (Maybe even communication radio) Magnet half: For quick and convenient holding in for example the car Flip up landscape screen cover/stand: like an extra door that protects the screen when not in use, like a book. Doubles as a stand, but transparent so you can still view screen. Bicycle handlebar mount: With wireless charging capability via pedal power or electric bike battery. Charging via an external battery or dynohub & something like B&Ms USBWerk. A waterproof top cover would also be handy. Recording studio: Phantom powered analog XLR-i/o with 24bit/96khz quality, ADAT-i/o, 2 x MIDI I/O. Expansion-half: PCMCIA and express-card slot with extra battery Audiophile half: Transform your phone into the best sounding portable audio device. The other half includes a dedicated DAC and Amp combo, capable of outputting the most pristine sound, and also capable of driving full sized cans, to super sensitive IEMs. Of course, it also includes extra battery for those long listening sessions. Alcohol-tester half: Inbuilt breathalyser. Calls for a taxi automatically to your GPS location when you are too drunk to drive a car yourself. Home integration half home entertainment, environment/thermostat(Nest), home security. Ambience: white translucent other half with led to display the screen Ambience and notifications by flashing. Fashion: costumization for persons, artists and companies (name, logo, colours, design) and/or access to specific features or online services (payments, bank, music, games, movies, news, guidance, encryption, files, storage) ; Camping Half: large battery + solar panel + 2x full size USB sockets to charge other (small) devices with such as a GARMIN. USB for charging only. Night Out Half: slots for credit card + door key + paper currency Sport Half: Big Battery + GPS chipset & ANT+ chipset to pair with a heart rate chest straps Diabetic Half: Blood sugar tester + contacts to touch to measure your heart rate and blood pressure Privacy half Prevents any app to send any information before user confirmation Makeup half Outside: plain mirror, inside: magnifying mirror with led-lights on sides Infrared controller: so you could just slip the cover on, select your primary tv, video etc. brand(s) and model(s) and use your mobile as an remote controller. For tv there should be possibility to choose which online source to use as tv guide. In Finland iltapulu.fi is great. Polaroid-half. it will be cool to print out your photos immediately. actually you can sell some films by this half because it is hard to find films for polaroid cameras Arduino half: The back of the half is a breadboard with Arduino pins broken out to easily connect any kind of hardware to the phone. A great hobby electronics half. If the Arduino IDE can run on the Jolla you have a full electronics development platform in your pocket! Battery half: Simple battery half with many colour options. Ideally option to be stackable so could benefit from other other halves. Satellite Phone: Satellite phone half for eg. emergency calls where there is no network coverage (would be very costly though) Fingerprint scanner: Add an extra layer of security only unlockable with a pre-determined fingerprint (or nipple!) SEE no.19 the same concept Car diagnostic half: To link up to car/van/truck and communicate with onboard computer. LED/laser light show half: LEDs pulsate and also could project laser light show to the beat of music/video or other sounds. Added bonus extra speakers. Racecar/F1 half: Control 2 engines via i2c, headlight LEDs, engine sounds, EPIC. Maybe even use the camera with some software to track a line! Camera Grip Half: Large shutter button, wrist strap, tripod fix and sliding lens cover, with programmable functions. Slide lens cover open to activate camera, protects camera lens when closed. Lens slider could be programmed (like in N900) to eg. turn flashlight (LED) on or start other programmable functions. Secure encryption half: A hardware assisted encryption ASIC to provided end to end secure encryption to keep governments and criminals out of your private business. Retro Rotary Dial half: Because Dialling by selecting names from a phone book is soooo 2012! Robot other half: A tiny robotic other half? Something a bit like romotives Romo would be nice. GKOS keyboard half: A special chording keyboard for full aphanumeric text entry; see Senior Other Half: with t-coil output and alert button. AAA battery half: This other half allows you to fit easy to find AAA batteries to power the Jolla in times of need. Dedicated phone button and camera button half: provides additional buttons to answer/end calls and to start camera and take photos. Surveyors(spatial)/pro golf (distance finder) toolbox half: that includes a good GPS chip, ultrasonic distance measuring laser distance finder, thermal infra-red reader (with s/w for user defined object emissivity) and powerful laser pointer. A chip like the u-blox LEA-6 will allow < 1m accuracy and with a simple base station, Real Time Kinematic will be possible (30mm) using the opensource (c++) Full-size PC keyboard other half: With dock for Jolla phone, uses handset micro usb to connect peripherals. Internal battery and space for mass memories inside keyboard. N900 other half: Adds slider QWERTY, IR, FM TX, kickstand and other features we miss from N900. Portrait Stand Half: A very neat fold up portrait stand for your Jolla that also covers the screen when not in use. Transparent back card holder half: Turn the back of your Jolla handset it to a windowed sleeve for storing/showing your driving license, ferry pass or others

 • it will be a pity and will considerably lower the phone value

 • Hi guys, I can't seem to find FM radio listed on the specs, can anyone please confirm whether Jolla phone has fm radio or not? And please also share the source where it's mentioned :)

 • I don't think the maps will work offline, but I hope they will. Anyway I'm gonna to buy this device!! :)

 • Appello makes the map application based on Here data. We don't know if online only.

 • lucky ones that will have their device on 27th of november

 • GSM Arena, please update your spec sheet as per jolla.com details. • In the light of the recent news it seems that indeed it will have HERE maps but it says something of a bogus cloud service. Now am really worry!- The maps are still downloadable???

 • Sailfish OS is not Symbian successor.... It is a successor to Maemo/Meego Harmattan..

 • Also it has GLONASS Support. Plus, in the developer Agreements, there is a separate section for HERE - maybe we will see Nokia Maps on this phone.

 • Is this phone launching in India? I hope Jolla considers to enter India, after all it's second after Chinese mobile market. Lastly i have heard that Zopo will release a Sailfish based phone in India but Zopo is a horrible brand with no after sales and service in here.

 • pity it doesn't have a resistive screen like the Nokia n900 best screen I have ever used no other screen can beat it for accurracy

 • he's only week point but i am not complaining, though will be nice if next model hill have an Igzo or Iridia display.

 • Important but missed often is that Sailfish OS seems to be the Symbian successor as it have built in all (most of all?) good practices from Symbian and significant number of software ported from Symbian by abandoned Symbian developers. All developers who used to live from selling Symbian soft and have sources in Qt would have to be crazy not to use the opportunity to port developed software to Sailfish, note well: with Qt projects and Sailfish SDK it takes even one afternoon to port the whole soft! And Sailfish SDK allows to play with full Sailfish OS launched on Windows/Linux/Mac machine but separated in WM from local machine resources or data. It happens that users call/mail and ask developers for porting, and developers work on this. The reason is simple - who will be first will take bonus of being the first and will take more market share. So if you have your preferred software, ask developer to develop/port the Sailfish OS version. Some already call Sailfish "the Symbian bis, the better incarnation of the Symbian legacy"

 • So old fashioned display. Too long time spent on it

 • Great phone from a promising company. Seen the OS demo which is just wow. Android and iOS is old story now. Hope Jolla releases this phone worldwide. Sailfish all the way. Specs are good for me and so is the design and then there's endless possibilities with the other half. Can't wait.

 • Since the Nokia patens and maps division have some kind of independence from Microsoft, it will be possible that Jolla team to strike an agreement and use Nokia here offline maps. this surely will blow out of the water any wp8. in a way Nokia should ask no fee from Jolla for using the maps, it will be such a bittersweet revenge.

 • I want this to be my next phone :)

 • I think you wanted to reply to the guy I was replying to, not to me ;)

 • Hi, Well it's not a little more than a skin; it's a completely new OS, born from the Maemo (N900), Meego(N9) operating systems of Nokia. Samsung is forking Meego as well to make Tizen. They have made Sailfish. It can run on Android hardware, but the OS runs all android applications out of the box. why do we need a new OS? because all current OSs are getting old: iOS&Android are not really innovating in the OS space of late. Sailfish is the baby of MeeGo, an OS designed from the ground up, for easy navigation...all gesture based ( which found itself on Blackberry Z10, and now used on iOS7 multitasking view). But they push a little further, getting rid of buttons, and keeping your screen for content only. closig apps, going back in an app, multitaskign is all commanded with gestures. also, you can directly interact with an open application without having to stop whatever you're doing. then there's the "the Other Half" concept...;more info go to jollausers.com

 • Please go to jolla.com and update the specs. This phone is coming by Dec2013 and will run a linux based OS: Sailfish. The key functionalities are its customisability (change your phone's feel to match your chosen wallpaper), the unique&true multitasking (where you can interact directly with open programs like widgets), ability to run Android applications out of the box....and the wonderful experience of a gesture-based OS as in the N9.

 • The thing is, this is a bit more than a skin for Android. For a start, it's actually based on Mer/Nemo mobile, and uses glibc rather than bionic, as you'd expect from Linux (Android kernels may be used, but that's for convenience using libhybris). If you don't use Android apps, there's no need to use Dalvik. Native apps are recommended, Android apps are only to 'fill in the gaps' where a dev won't port to Sailfish. Native coding's done in Qt/QML/JS/C++ rather than Java, and subjectively, the Sailfish SDK's rather nicer to use than Eclipse. Jolla are also concentrating on optimisation, like with the iPhone. That's lead to some rather nice performance so far - their early demos with the N950 ran very smoothly, more so than would be expected from Android on the same specs. Hope that sums up a few of the reasons.

 • May be this os doesnt lag

 • why do we need a whole new OS? if the apps and the HW are android, why not just create an elaborate android skin and be done with it? by the end of the day, this is what it is- a glorified android skin... BTW, this is just a comment, not an attack...

 • It's not available yet. See the spec - Status: Coming soon.

 • If your friend is a phone geek, then he should be having N900 and N9!

 • hey guys.. i need this phon from where i get this phone

 • Looks like Nokia N9. The best phone and OS ever. Best OS after Symbian. The father of all OS.

 • Well my friend is a phone geek. He has a galaxy note 3 & a nexus 10.Well I like the devices but I would like to buy something different like jolla. This is for me

 • Jolla aim to ship before end of 2013 for those who've preordered already. Might be a bit later before they open up sales.

 • Coming soon till when?

 • There is multi colored indicator light. On jolla device.

 • Why did you not change the specs it has been released Officially 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor 1GB RAM 16 GB Storage with Micro SD expandability 8MP Auto focus Camera at the back and 2MP for the front facing camera 2100 mAh Battery 3.8 Volts I2C Bus + NFC connectors for The Other Half Ample 4.5″ display with qHD resolution (960*540) Which gave us 244.77 PPI of pixel density + Gorilla 2 Glass 6 Point Multi touch on top of the Gorilla Glass WLAN802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz Bluetooth 4.0 EDR HS AGPS & GLONASS USB 2.0 HS Proximity, Accelerometer, Gyro, E-Compass, and Ambient light sensors RGB Indicator LED Dual Microphone for noise cancellation Talk and Standby time (Approx): 7.7/5.5 hours (GSM/3G) & 500 hours stansby Dimensions: H131 * W68 * D9.9mm Weight: 141g

 • also got 808 and that 1 is amazing, will give jolla a try,

 • have the old symbian 808. wanted to buy a new phone. as one guy said android is a good OS but too many spys.wp8 is still in beta and iphone is very expensive. i want to have the built quality of 808/n8 with a modern symbian without spy code for a fair price. i guess many old nokia fans would buy such phone. i don't play games on my phone. good phone functions like symbian, good maps, good camera and loudspeaker and good writing style and a good email machine and organizer. if Jolla can deliver this they would have good business. i'm waiting now.

 • Same here!!!

 • Please correct the specifications :) 6 Point Multi touch on top of the Gorilla Glass 2 WLAN802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz Bluetooth 4.0 EDR HS AGPS & GLONASS USB 2.0 HS Proximity, Accelerometer, Gyro, E-Compass, and Ambient light sensors RGB Indicator LED Dual Microphone for noise cancellation I2C Bus + NFC connectors for The Other Half Talk and Standby time (Approx): 7.7/5.5 hours (GSM/3G) & 500 hours stansby Dimensions: H131 * W68 * D9.9mm Weight: 141g

 • Would give this phone a try.

 • Full specs are now out. Cant wait to get mine :)

 • Can't wait for to hold the Jolla in my hands and use the Sailfish OS... Btw @ gsmarena: update the specs

 • This is mid-range! 399 including the VAT (24% in Finland)

 • Good phone with features but everybody cant afford it so please make low end & mid range phones leaving choices & to attract market of developing nations

 • Update the specs pls (QC's Snapdragon etc) from jolla website

 • i'll hpoe these device will much better than others,we expect a better os for these device,we support it.:)!!!!!!goodluck jolla!!!!!

 • It will rock ....

 • Great device... And even better OS!! Can't wait for it!! :)

 • I Hope Jolla come with large of diversity than other phone. Maybe a phone that long lasting batery power coz the screen color is black n white, or anything else.

 • loved maemo/meego. i hope sailfish and other OS and OEMs have some success and give the tech world more diversity. It's predecessors were so good but maybe people weren't ready for it.pure class.

 • specifications for this phone are out now

 • The second preorder drive is only launching in Finland for now (shame). On the last drive (and so if this one is opened to the world, probably here too), preorders cost 100 up-front, but reduce the final price by the same amount, for a total cost of 399.

 • Without QWERTY keyboard this phone is nothing

 • I like the looks of this phone very much and I wanna give Jolla a try. Maybe just to see how it works. I liked my N9 so much. The swipe UI is really nice.

 • maybe a fm transmitter in the"other half"

 • Hope all this specifications mentioned in this site are true about this phone. One thing i want in it is FM transmitter. I like this phone, it's new design and the Sailfish OS which is just too good. One way Jolla can get more market share is by staying away from NSA and make games/apps sandboxed so the apps wouldn't request Internet connection to send private data and won't suck bandwidth. Hope future Jolla phones have better cameras, internals and good apps that aren't malwares. I don't know what Maps they will use. Maybe Jolla can license Here Maps..

 • can't wait for this phone. i already pre-ordered it. i think it will be a big hit. won't sell a lot though. it will be the ferrari of cellphones just like what Forbes magazine said.

 • New HW prototype is out... See pics here: :)

 • I Just have to comment on that.. Well you are wrong, Nokia will stick around for who knows how long, but not necessarily as a consumer product company. Ms - Nokia acquisition..

 • I Just have to comment on that.. Well you are wrong, Nokia will stick around for who knows how long, but not necessarily as a consumer product company. Ms - Nokia acquisition..

 • what I heard end of 2013 for preorders, first batch sold out,Nokia is no moore in 2014..

 • When do you get the phone? It's quiet around Jolla lately. I hope in 2016 Nokia + Jolla = succes.

 • Hope this will sell well when Nokia now is in the hands of MS,already ordered one

 • our biggest mistake... buy the n900.. :p

 • I want stylus or working pen for smartphone, please!

 • any phone with xenon ? any phone with hard keyb ? in 4.0 inch ? with stereo speaker ? and no cloud software but only in pc the sms and the contacs and the mms ? thanks....

 • Jolla have on main screen "message/info hub" where all of them are mentioned. I suppose that if Jolla will have any LED then considering this is Linux it will be possible to program it to blink in case of event like missed message. In preproduction prototypes I haven't noticed LED (however I was not looking for, to be honest) and Sailfish has bars for indicting rang=power of radio transmission. But when it has locked screen it can display notifications about event like Facebook/whatzup/mail/SMS/MMS messages. Perhaps it can realise that even without blinking LED it informs you about what you want, and in better way.

 • See u in 2014 :)

 • You know what? There's almost all the Sailfish OS based Jolla phones are sold out and this phone is in heavy testing. You'll see by 2014 how soon this OS will reach the masses.

 • Wooohooo. I love the details, cute story bro. Android haters are free to buy apple. Aint that secure enough? And apps are plenty. Multi tasking u say? I'll see what happens to jolla after 1 or 2 years. Im here.

 • No and yes ;) In presentations of Jolla mobile (not N9 or N900) I haven't noticed anything like this. Anyway there is cover of "second half" which can be equipped with hardware working like this. On photos in the net there were nothing like this.

 • Will there be some kind of notification light on the device? Like on the old Nokia phones, a breathing light that notifies events like missed calls and smses? That would be really great.

 • I have had Samsung Galaxy Y, HTC One X+, SE Xperia Play, Samsung Galaxy Note II and Samsung Galaxy S4. Without exception all of them had heating, lagging and battery issues due to which i had to sell them, but the lag was more prominent on Samsung Galaxy phones because of Touchwiz UI, which is unstable and lags in basic applications such as gallery, contacts, dialer and camera. A lag is a freeze in the OS and i think you're immune to it if you can't see it. Android has lot of apps but if you look around the net, Android apps are often buggy and some of them do not work the way they promise to (read virus prone). That's the problem on android - every Tom or Harry with a PC can create an app or a virus and make it look legit and Google doesn't review applications manually and developers gets their apps live within an hour of submission and processing. There's always a lot of apps running in the background in Android OS (though you can close them but then again those apps gets restarted). It's really battery draining. Some permissions asked by Android applications are ridiculous, especially by free applications. Why an application request permissions such as read phone state and identity, send SMS without your consent, etc.? The answer is simple. The apps are selling your private informations which are stored on your device. Google is giving you free applications in exchange for your personal information stored on the device which they will sell to earn money and at the same time they are earning money by giving you free ad supported applications. Unfortunately, a vulnerability in Android lets apps to be modified by anyone and once if you install it then all your private data will be explored by the person who modified the application. Android has many apps but only a few of them are quality applications. Most of the applications in Google Play Store are pornographic apps, fart simulating apps, copy of another app by different names, themes for launchers, Whatsapp add ons, Live wallpapers etc., There's 2/4 of crap applications on Android. Recently, 200 millions Chinese SMSs was hacked by the US and all of those phones are Android. Google has implemented NSA codes into Android OS. The National Security Agency (NSA) codes in Android OS. This codes are always running in Android OS, which allows NSA to spy on the users. Meanwhile, NSA officials can collect material such as search history, thumbnails data, SMSs, emails, location data, Wifi passwords, what you download, Live chats and call history and such. Google has been spying illegaly ever since they were born. they have been proved to be guilty of spying on data through home wifi's using their street view cars...,and you can read more here-m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3530296 Android apps are written in Java VM due to which it lags. Java is buggy and slow even on PC. Sailfish OS was demoed on Nokia N900 which has a single core processor and it was running so smooth and this means it's a resource efficient OS and Sailfish OS supports apps from other platforms such as Qt, HTML 5, native applications and Android applications. So, apps aren't a problem for Jolla. I have had very bad and frustrating experience with Android OS although i still have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and a Samsung Galaxy Y duos. We aren't obligated to buy anything you tell us to. Nothing lives forever and due to this huge fragmentation of Android OS and the day by day increasing risk of security and malwares on Android OS is gonna kill Android OS. It's very easy to factory reset Nokia N900, it's just that you don't know how to do it. Please don't talk meaningless stuff, search before you post.

 • u know nothing about linux , go have fun with your lagdroid stupidphone and dont waste your time here again

 • Look, i have two Android phones, one is based on Android 2.3 and the other one is based on Android 4.2.1 Jellybean which is gonna get update to Android 4.3 a few months later and i am bored of them. I don't do customizations, i find Google Maps to be no efficient. Android OS is a resource hungry OS due to which Android powered devices don't give nice battery backup and once more than three apps are opened for multitasking, the system slows down. The RAM management in Android OS is not efficient. Android tends to lag because it always has many apps running in the background and most of the time if you kill them, they will get restarted. (self experience). Google has been spying ever since they were born. It spy on your search results, emails, thumbnails data, wifi passwords and other user's data. Due to hackers attack on Android OS, Google has implemented NSA codes into Android OS. The National Security Agency (NSA) has obtained direct access to the systems of Google, Facebook, Apple and other US internet giants, according to a top secret document obtained by the Guardian. The NSA access is part of a previously undisclosed program called Prism, which allows officials to collect material including search history, the content of emails, file transfers and live chats, the document says. The program facilitates extensive, in-depth surveillance on live communications and stored information. The law allows for the targeting of any customers of participating firms who live outside the US, or those Americans whose communications include people outside the US.It also opens the possibility of communications made entirely within the US being collected without warrants. So, basically your personal data is no longer secure. Your personal infomartion goes to the NSA no matter where you are and which Android phone you've. Even Google is spying on your mails, search history. Some Android apps take pictures automatically and sends it to NSA, your gallery is also sent to NSA, the thumbnails to be exact. Android phones tracks your location and sends the information to Google which then would either go to NSA or Google will use it to advance their maps. You are no longer secure. Google doesnt review Android apps manually and developers get their apps live within an hour of submission and processing, that app could be a malware created to invade your privacy. In Android, any Tom and Harry can create an app or a virus with a PC and make it look legit. It's ridiculous that a game requires permissions such as read phone state and identity, send SMS without your consent etc., Google gives you free apps for your personal information with ads. Unfortunately, a vulnerability in Android lets apps to be modified by anyone and once if you install your private information will directly go to the person who modified it. Android has a lot of apps but if you look around the net, Android apps are often buggy and some of them do not work the way they promise to (read virus prone). That's the problem on Android. It's not a secure OS. Most of the things in Android was copied from Symbian OS. In Ginger bread, lag has always been there and same story in Jellybean. It's just the animations which try to hide the lags but fails to do so in Jellybean. Sailfish OS is the future. The OS was demoed on Nokia N900 and Nokia N9,it was running smooth. So, it's a resource efficient OS and supports applications from other operating systems and hopefully apps will be sandboxed.

 • Jolla has not said clearly if FM transmitter will be on the motherboard, I hope so. If NOVAThor platform has it, then it more probable it will has it.

 • One thing must be clear: Jolla's Sailfish OS is the MeeGo Linux more developed version. After N9 and MeeGo with Harmattan UI has been butchered by All-We-Know-Who the MER project thanks to Carsten Munk has been turned into MEego Reconstructed project. Sailfish is built on the MER CORE distribution (everything below UI and above kernel soft adaptations to a particular CPU). On it has been put Jolla UI, but if the Harmattan UI would be used it would look exactly N9. This construction of Sailfish OS: Jolla UI + MER core + MER compatible kernel adapted for a particular CPU makes endless possibilities like N9 has. Also that mean that ANY platform with CPU which has kernel adopted to working with MER core (now: ARM, x86, TI) can be booted and used with Sailfish OS, in reality that means most of existing. That is why Linux MeeGo Sailfish OS and Jolla are continuation of Linux MeeGo Harmattan and Nokia N9, also because the same people has built them both. And if something was possible for Harmattan + N9 then this is more then possible for Sailfish + Jolla. And Jolla's hardware is better, but Sailfish requirements are still minimal requirements of Linux MeeGo. So this all allow to expect better performance then N9. Also note: Android software used on Sailfish means that like Android have dalvik then Jolla have Myriard's AlienDalvik - so they run on Jolla like native, with the same speed like at Android. Only trouble can happen if software has UI coded not according to Android standard, so buttons can be out of screen or something like this.

 • You are right Jolla can run together as many unique single soft as RAM allow (can hold + sys requirements also). In fact Saifish is MeeGo, of course more developed with MER project (MER = MEego Reconstructed, see about merproject.org), but still it is. Different is UI as Harmattan was intelectual property of Nokia then Jolla developed own and better UI - Sailfish UI. So similarities are visible immidiately.

 • Multitasking is the strongest advantage of both Sailfish OS and MeeGo, as bot are FULL and PURE Linuxes what means hard rock solid stability, more then any other OS on the market. In Android a soft is "frozen" but in Sailfish/MeeGo it is RUNNING in the background. This allows to use many soft together, note: native Sailfish soft and Andrriod soft launched with Myriard's Aliendalvik (builtin the OS permanently) can be switched and used in the same time without any lags etc. just because of Linux multitasking abilities. It is more precisely described in wikipedia and Sailfish OS wiki, you will easly find links. Sailfish continues legacy of MeeGo (hence Nokia's Maemo & Intel's MObilin) and also good practicies of Symbian. You will try it and you will love it - 99% people do so. And 1% are payied haters and black PR in duty to propagate lies about.

 • If anyone have doubts then there is a reference: Jolla will be better incarnation of Nokia N9, what in general mean that it will be not worse then the legendary N9. Linux Sailfish is FULL linux and also more and significantly developed Linux MeeGo, so there is no limitations in numbers of apps (N9 without lags can run 20), a limitation can be amount fo RAM and how big is a single soft. Also there is "second half" which can add additional RAM or hardware or software, not only colours. Those who were at Jolla's presentations were able to see and evaluate OS abilities and hardware. As presented were preproduction prototypes so not all details were shown, but only those already fixed. For me most wanted is, not shown, dual sim or tri sim options. As it is for asian market it is obvious that at last dual sim is the must. And so on so on. Jolla was presented many times and there are several reviews, be serious guys.

 • Dont waste money dont waste energy Buy something else Nokia Maemo powered N900 was my beast for 2 yrs but i should tell u it did give me a hard time I've shifted to galaxy note 2 and my life is so charmed nw, cuz of android power and support The world breathes android and iOS, dont be cornered by getting such device trust me If u cobsider buying this First see whats happening with the N9 Swipe Meego monster It looks cool it is cool its v new and v clean But believe me its not for the ones who want a stable fone for their lives Yeah its android app compatible but thats all crap, theres no comparison to android supported phone and android phone Get a launcher in ur android and thats it Im sure android monsters will develop this in chreaper snd cleaner versiin with more support So why waste on this? Get htc samsung sony if u think im right Oh and PS : N900 runs 32 apps at a time and is PURE multitasking But it still couldnt do any better Apps like whatsapp facebook viber what we breathe in and out are not available so whats the use?

 • no ,its not limited to 9 apps ,check this out :

 • The device isn't released and most of the hardware is unknown! How do you want anyone to review it yet? Anyway - what we do know of what you asked. It theoretically can run more than 9 apps, we're talking Linux here. Whether the number of graphical apps is restricted due to the active covers is another thing entirely, but it would seem strange if Jolla took this approach. They might alternatively use more than one screen of covers, or only show covers for 9 apps while running more in the background. The OS is indeed pretty resource efficient. Jolla's first demos showed Sailfish running well on the Nokia N950, using a single-core Cortex-A8. It's likely to support media formats which gstreamer can (i.e. loads!), as with the N9. However, due to the improved chipset, it shouldn't have the N9's problem with HD content. Info Jolla have teased so far on the Other Half suggests there are direct data and power connections, though what standards these follow (if any) are unknown. If this is correct, both a hardware keyboard or external flash are possible. However, this is entirely reliant on halves being produced for these purposes. Not sure quite what you mean by a 'lock key', but the power button does lock the device as in many phones.

 • Wondering if this phone can run more than 9 apps, picture quality of the device, how powerful will be the flash, if there will be some recovery option in case if you do something wrong that'd corrupt the OS, support for different keyboards, if apps can be installed from third party sites, the other half will be a qwerty keyboard or a powerful flash, how powerful the battery would be, if the OS is resource efficient, if native video call would be possible, if there will be Nokia Maps or not, how many features it will have, if it will be a 720p or 1080p screen, if the device can play all major media formats, if there will be a lock key. Give it an in depth review come on.

 • Hope that it will have FM transmiter... It's very cool to have my music with me everywhere where is radio :)

 • I want one!

 • "Can it run more then X apps?" It's full multitasking Linux, unless any application decides to somehow 'eat' all the memory you can run however many you want/need. There is no reason to believe the limit on multitaksing in jolla is not memory bound just like any other OS, the interface on the homescreen may or may not support only showing 9 applications simultaniously but if that is the case there will surely be a way of handling more applications, you can probably even try out how that is handled in the SailfishOS SDK. Even the n900 (this devices' grandfather) can run quite a few applications simultaniously, this is a video of the n900 being pushed pretty far:

 • The OPEN phone! Please hurry Jolla, need my phone asap!

 • The OPEN phone! Please hurry Jolla, need my phone asap!

 • For the "radio", will it have an FM transmitter? That's really missing from most new phones but it is why I keep my N8 in my pocket!

 • Can you post the link to the preview video in which its shown Sailfish OS can run more than 9 apps? Thanks.

 • For all of you who wonder if it can run more than 9 apps, it can. In some preview video it is quickly shown that if you do long press on any active app, you get a vertically scrollable list of all the open apps. Here you can also close those apps. BTW, got my Jolla t-shirt today, says "I AM THE FIRST ONE" with red/white Jolla-style letters. Eagerly waiting for the launch of the device.

 • Thanks dude for answering how multitasking is done on MeeGo OS. I am waiting for this phone and i won't buy any high end Android phones ever because Android has many malwares, it's not resource efficient like Symbian is, since there are NSA codes written in Android OS it spy on user, Google does the same thing. What i really hope is, something like NSA stays away from this OS and Sailfish OS provide the best multitasking out of them all like MeeGo OS can. Over 100 apps at time! That'd be great.

 • This gona be great, a true N9 succesor i cant wait.

 • yeah right :)

 • Actually it is limited to 9 apps at the moment but it'll be changed soon.

 • Many will buy this.. don't you worry. The pre-order campaign was already solt out! Most importantly it's for all of us, who don't like vendor locked in platforms and ecosystems, but want to live in the open wild ;)

 • it something like this, when all the 9 open apps (cards) are filled and a 10th app is opened, a new page of open card generates below the previous 9 cards page till it completes 18 cards and so on.

 • But swiping vertical on the home screen reveals all the apps that's in the phone? How multitasking is done on MeeGo OS? Anyone tell me in details.

 • I suppose this might get a PhoneME port (JavaME for N9). GSMArena just put that info on almost every phone though, by the looks of it, and it's usually wrong.

 • who will buy this?? Come on man do u know that preorder options are already closed now. They are already sold out even before release :)

 • hi, the homescreen is not restricted to 9 apps but more just like n9. It has only vertical swipe to swich between lockscreen to menu launcher to open apps. Pls correct me if i am wrong

 • You didn't understand what i said i think. So far, there's one homescreen in Sailfish OS on which only 9 applications can run(not sure about it but i have seen in a video). So, multitasking would be limited to 9 apps, correct? But if we have several homescreen which can be accessed by swiping from left to right or vice versa, then we can run 9 more apps on the homescreen. I have never used MeeGo but i have seen it in action. MeeGo can run 50 or more apps. It was the king of multitasking. What i really hope is that we can run as many apps as possible in Sailfish OS just like in MeeGo. I already have two Android phones and i am bored of them. I want a new phone with a new OS which will never ever have NSA codes and Sailfish OS is my choice.

 • You not understand swipe UI. This philosophy no need more homescreens. I was use N9 with first swipe UI .. With only one homescreen with icons(groups), one with multitask and one with PIM. Simply, quick, elegant. More screens with icons are not more ergonomic. Please do not force Android/iPhone philosophy to SailfishOS. Is Unlike. Go and buy Android/iPhone and don't destroy this awesone UX.

 • Why is still this wrong info about Java?! MIDP is java platform for dumbphones eg. Nokia S40. I dont know smartphone with MIDP emulator. :p

 • But Jolla is OPEN. Icon themes solved this. :)

 • But Jolla is OPEN. Icon themes solved this. :)

 • Fully featured mobile phone with unique resp. unlike OS. One of the most promising new developments and my respect to the Jolla and Sailfish teams who took the challenge. I'm in stand-by to get one :-)

 • We love you jolla, dont give up.

 • Jolla is well aware of the fact.. And dont worry.. They understand what privacy means. Unlike other OSes out there..

 • And the most important thing which i forgot to mention, hope Jolla would review every app for Sailfish manually and keep NSA or something like that away from the OS. We don't want our personal information to be tracked or given to the goverment. I hope Jolla wouldn't be like Google which doesn't review Android apps manually and developers get their apps live within an hour of submission and processing. I hope someone from Jolla is listening me... ): This OS is the only hope for me as i am tired of every other OS out there which tracks an user's data and sends it to NSA or the goverment. Better don't do business in the US or else NSA will catch this OS too. ): =( )= :(

 • Here are the things that i want to see in Sailfish OS: More polished and modern icons(previously the icons were simple and modern but Jolla did a huge mistake by creating those different shapes icons. I want to see all the icons in same square shaped like in iOS or just give us the options to have three icons sets by defualt in the OS itself. Please don't forget to give the icons which were previously designed), ability to have 7 or more homescreens out of which on 5 homescreens, mulitasking would be possible, a notifications toggles bar which will be revealed by swiping from bottom and then swiping from bottom again(notifications toggles must have a brightness slider, wifi, gps, some general profiles such as general, silent, outdoor, meeting, data connection etc.), the option to select other keyboards, a strong video and music player like in MeeGo, no vulnerability in the OS, no apps can be modified by anyone, option to install apps from third party sites, option to add icons on the lock screen, a well desinged transparent analog clock in square shaped, a transparent dual clock with many countries and for easy to select, like in Touchwiz UI with written state name, capital name and then country name, like this: Helsinki/Finland, London/UK, Austin/USA etc., hope Sailfish OS would be resource efficient like Symbian and MeeGo, a wide range of media support, a good camera interface with pro-like settings, more games, no adwares, no games which have the option to spend money for in game powerup stuffs, hope Jolla won't distrubute the OS to every manufacturers which will let them modify it, thus avioding OS fragmentation; and managing both the hardware and software by Jolla itself, more updates to the software, always have SD card and removable battery in Jolla's next phones, a good camera tech, and a blacklist. Hope Jolla phones would sell like hotcakes worldwide.

 • Jolla is really something new from long long time, and FULL Linux what makes possibilities endless by all means. There were in the air pure empty discussion about software for Sailfish and hence Jolla smartphone, so here is the true: "Software available for Sailfish OS devices IF, upon Jolla's declarations that Sailfish OS is be able to use software from following platforms - Sailfish (natively created + ported like from Qt, Symbian, MeeGo - developers have reported that porting a Qt written software with Sailfish SDK takes a few hours only) - MeeGo (because of backward compatibility thanks to MeeGo code legacy included in the Mer core) - Android (using built-in Alien Dalvik by Myriad Group, which will allow to use it like a native, but with limitations which can happen about UI, if not ported and adjusted) - Unix and Linux (as Sailfish is Linux then using such a software is possible, especially RPM packages, either in terminal/console mode or with limitations implying from using Sailfish UI, if not ported and adjusted) - HTML5 (because it is ready for this kind of software then use oncoming FireFox OS software can also be possible probably) THEN a number of unique software possible to use can be estimated by adding number of software from the list above. In general it can be expected to be not less than 500K unique software pieces at the beginning. above: from source of Wikipedia at "Jolla" article here is the list of most wanted software (based on requests from users) with mentioned status which are already ported to Sailfish and which are "dev contacted" and which denied - note there is only 1 (one) denied to be ported. In a few words: Sailfish one of better supported with software platform. And so is Jolla smartphon. There is no problem with software for Jolla. Sailfish SDK and Qt makes it one of better and easier platform for developers - they say so. There is one important news you should notice as fan: The prebook campaign is gooing to be ended "in nearest days", you can prebook and have fixed price or you can prebook by free with only reeservation. What is still unclear is at what markets will be dualsim device, I think certainly on Chinese but got no idea how with the others.

 • Why you need 8 cores when you can do all the work with just 2??? have you ever used a N9?? just singlecore and 50 apps running in multitask, no freeze task like android or even iOS??? it's not about the cores, it's about the OS...

 • Smooth may be, efficent?? hell no... N9 it's the king of efficientness, have you tried to write a note on your planner, while you are reading something on internet?

 • Bluetooth version, like most of the specs, hasn't been confirmed yet - it's likely just guesswork on GSMArena's part.

 • It's not the people who worked on Symbian, but Jolla team are the people who worked on Maemo / Meego at Nokia. When the meego was discontinued by Nokia, the team came out and started the Jolla. Sailfish OS is the reincarnation of the meego as we can call it, though its actually based on the Mer core. Jolla device is for those who want to upgrade from their N900, N9 and also other android/apple iphone people who got bored of their OS.

 • maybe to keep the price low

 • Bluetooth 3. Why not Bluetooth 4?

 • On a side note, I couldnt help but notice that Apples new Iphone iteration due for an Autumn release features something very similar to Jollas ambience function coincidence, I think not. In IOS7, it appears that by changing the wallpaper on the homescreen, you also change the look and feel of the phone which seems (like the ambience feature in Sailfish) to reflect the colours in your wallpaper image. A lot of the other features in IOS7 seem to have been heavily influenced by MeeGO, Web OS and many other operating systems. There go Apple again taking from others and calling it their own! So lets support the real innovators and help get Jolla up there with the big boys! Sail On

 • Actually the developers of Jolla didn't choose to leave but were in fact down sized, due Anything non-Microsoft became expendable ;)

 • There is absolutely no technical reason why 50 concurrent apps should not be possible under sailfish, after all it's the same base that allowed that type of multitasking on the n9(00). The only limiting factor here is how they implement the switcher and how it scales with more running apps, if it just makes every preview smaller and smaller then at some point it will just not be practical anymore...

 • This is being developed by the old staff at Nokia (when Microsoft bought Nokia, the staff left and joined Jolla, which had the old management from Nokia) the same people that used to work on Symbian, which we know runs a very small footprint with equally small apps (of course sans multitasking) based on the above and that we know that a core team of streamlined experienced people with one of the best track records in the industry who had the unique opportunity to reinvent themselves are about to come out with a new product I simply can't wait to get my hands on one.

 • I've seen the Sailfish OS in action, it's really nice but the icons needs to be polished a little bit more. I don't think Sailfish OS can run 50 apps in real time like that of Nokia N9, i could be wrong about it. So far, i have seen only 9 apps run at the same time on the home screen, though it's enough but i like to have more. Hope Jolla would at least let 20 apps run at a time.

 • cpu cores dont help for multitasking ,more ram = better multitasking ,as u can see nokia n9 with single core and 1gb of ram can run up to 50(real time multitasking) open application

 • sailfish dont need quadcore cpu to run smooth , dualcore is far enough (remember its not lagdroid )

 • how about a quad-core processor??? think about it...

 • I can`t wait till the device commin in Bulgaria.

 • Anything from Qualcomm is never ever the right choice.

 • Jolla have made it very clear that they don't care about benchmarks, providing real-world performance is good (remember, Harmattan ran pretty well on a Cortex-A8!). More power's nice and all, but generally unnecessary for anything but Android.

 • more performance, less tdp, snapdragon 800's gpu also great performance. check the benchmark result.

 • @Snapdragon 800: Considering that their OS runs smooth even on the single core N9 I would not go so fast with saying Dual-core wan't be good. More cores only helps for multi taksing (at which this OS is the absolute king of the hill) and applications that were specifically optimized for multi-core architectures, otherwise you can have 10 cores but still only one will actually be working.

 • Dual core cpu is deprecated! Snapdragon 800 is right choice.

 • Dear Jolla, please release it soon. i really want to use it ( as i know that its compatible with Android Apps) , and i also want to see Jolla mini , Jolla Phablet and Jolla dual sim ( for asian countries).

 • I have Nokia N9 and I really like it. I have android jelly bean and I have many games. I wish to get Jolla on my n9. I will wait the developers to install it on my n9.

 • Nokia n9 is so much better than all existing alternatives, and this one by jolla should prove very popular with know-what's-what crowed. All hail the new king the old king is dead

 • Hoping to get my hands on this phone.. Watched a demo of the OS.. It is running flawless without a single lag. Jolla release this phone in India come on

 • Does anyone if the phone has any of the following: 1. HDMI out. 2. usb-on-the-go 3. wifi direct

 • Wow!!! Lovely design. It can run Android apps without the drawbacks of Android OS? This is super cool. I just wish i will get this phone in India. Looks amazing. I'm bored of Android and other OS. Love Jolla.

 • i love n9 i hate ios or specially andriod just release it now one thing is chief if you want to make something better than choose different from other and this is the revolution just put andriod format software not the andriod wohhh

 • i cant wait anymore ,ive already waited about 1 year :( since they were just a name

 • i Have to confess tht the phone is as beautiful as Nokia N9,but why do every company have to start where N9 ends.......i guess bcoz N9 is innovative,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

 • Yes - install all the apk file(android app format) - and run it as native because Sailfish is full Linux and compatibility is thanks Alien Dalvik. See in English Wikipedia the article about Jolla.

 • what can i say ex nokia employees. It will be great phone. can't wait to get my hands on one. I've placed pre order for one. I have always had nokia phones until they went down the windows road.Jolla sailfish os

 • This is what I need to replace my aging N8. Something running the vast selection of Android apps without the drawbacks of Android, IOS, or WP.

 • mean it ran install all the apk file(android app format) ?? wow

 • I still remember my N9. I'm running 56 apps now. This is the future of OS, unlike Android devices it doesn't have fragmentation and need an octa or quad core processor to run smoothly. Let's encourage Jolla please guys. This is the best OS for Multitasking. I'm pretty much excited to get my hands on it. ^^,

 • GSMArena don't know how much RAM this has yet, Jolla haven't released that info. It's probably over 1GB, though, as they use full multitasking.

 • Because it was speculation. Jolla hasn't given the RAM information.

 • wrong forum.this is Jolla not Nokia.reply on Nokia forum

 • why this smartphone RAM memory vanishes from GSMARENA list ?

 • WOW thats all I can say...

 • Specs are great. What about SAR? For people using phone a lot (like me) this is very important question.

 • I'd love to see this software running on a Nokia lumia 925 with snapdragon S4 pro because of its graphics capabilities with the play store,so all games run with the graphic detail needed unlike adreno 225, plus ui of Jolla is amazing, good software and hardware I guarantee Samsung will lose sales, and people will only buy Nokia

 • Well with the Nokia N9 when the screen idles,I can see the time and all sorts of notifications: emails, messages, silent mode, charged, etc.. Will this be the same with Jolla?

 • I hope to see fews more Jolla smart devices ( 4.3" to 5" display) with 5-8MP Camera. In my country : 8" tablet & 5.3" phablet are popular , people use them to make a photo or video insted of Camera. This is a first Jola smart phone & i really want to go for it because i used Nokia N9 before (Meego OS) its really a good one & it'll be better if it can be N9 mini or dual sim. But the price are also very compative at the present. I hope that i can purchase Jola smart phone with affordable price.

 • Best multi tasking mobile phone. I Love Jolla.

 • Sailfish can run Android apps, hence the talk about their usage on this device.

 • Meego and Symbian died because Stephen Elop killed them (not so much for Symbian since Asha = Symbian S40 IIRC). Jolla knows about this and then, they did NOT hire Elop.

 • What the....? Where are people getting the idea that this is Android? It's absolutely nothing to do with Android. Sailfish is Sailfish and nothing else. Sailfish is an efficient, streamlined, resource friendly O/S. Android is a bucket full of bloat and fragmentation.

 • They cant, Android good is free to use.

 • I'm almost sure Google won't mind if more people buy apps from their store ;-)

 • Jolla, another new platform for patents war ?

 • maybe now google will sue jolla jolla for using their app market

 • i will

 • so it is

 • . The app compatibility feature debunks all potential criticism. The OS is better and lighter than Android and if the phone is cheap then this is the OS of the future.

 • It was the Nokia boss that killed Symbian and MeeGo despite It sold moore phones than Wp do now.ironic

 • Is this NOKIA's Plan-B ? Is this NOKIA with Android ??

 • Android app compliant, it's like nokia n900.

 • Jolla original design with ample 4.5 Estrade display Dual core and 4G**) Keep it and share with 16GB + microSD 8MP AF camera User-replaceable battery The Other Half Gesture based Sailfish OS =====>>>Android app compliant from jolla.com

 • its supports android apps nd have good features...then why are you worried?

 • saifish OS?

 • I've just pre-ordered Jolla cellphone and this mnthend im buying another N9... So happy, hope they'll allow me to buy more than 1 when their phone gets available

 • so who will buy this?

 • MEGO and symbian os are dead for a reason i hope someone from jolla is reading this

 • if the creators of jolla were smart they would embrace android and sailfish as well and offer the two jus like Samsung is offering android and soon to be released tizen phones jolla dont do like nokia and embrace only one OS

 • lovely to see that theres someone doing something with a different os. i was looking for something that could give the flexibility of a droid but something fresh, gimme gimme sailfish

 • I hope this Jolla phone will support native video call via 3G network. It's getting rare nowaday...

 • phone making from nokia

 • Not that much of a problem for Nokia unless it takes off

 • hey dude...company name jolla and mobile name jolla...eg samsung galaxy s3...company name +model name

 • Yes.

 • taking on the MeeGo project ahead under the bridge program of Nokia

 • jolla presence will be a problem for nokia, because the author is a former employee in the field of nokia Meego OS, but this is really confusing

 • Yup - it's just down to the way GSMArena list phones. They show the manufacturer's name, and then the device name. Because the manufacturer is Jolla and the phone has only been called 'Jolla' so far... they list it as 'Jolla Jolla'.

 • In Case You Guy's aren't aware,Thus Phone and It's Whole New OS Is From None Other But The Ex Nokia Staffs Who Made The It Possible With The Nokia N900(Maemo OS) and The Nokia N9-00(Meego/Harmattan).So I'll Prolly Say It Was Their Plan To Build Their Own OS and Dominate Otherwise and that's why they resigned from The Nokia Coporation. You Guys Can Checkout www.jolla.com you'll find out that Even Jolla Is Coming From Finland as Well.

 • It is simply called "Jolla", not "Jolla Jolla". I think its a mistake by GSMArena.

 • please go through this link and imagine what jolla sailfish devices could be. That is why its called UNLIKE :) As Limitations to this device would be ur lack of imaginations :)

 • nokia should stop msnufacting cell phones ...or they should do something best this time ..

 • My opinion is....if Sony makes their smartphone with all the walkman features than there would be no walkman anymore... But maybe i am wrong :)

 • yes bro ive already have n9 (same specs with n950) used my friends iphone and gs4 and ... ,i didnt got my hands on n950 with sailfish os but in review videos u can see how smooth is sailfish

 • learn something from new comer JOLLA , dear sony. see how they have introduce stereo speaker in phone, n u busy with only loud speaker with pathetic clarity n loudness. sony, ceo, we request to quickly built phones with stereo speakers with walkman features.....

 • I hope that it should have 2 kind of Jolla smart phone ( mid range & high range device). At the beginning i like to use mid range Jolla smart phone with affordable price. What's i can suggest to Jolla : mid range phone should have features like : good camera ( at least 5MP), LED flash, 4,3" to 4,5", long lasting battery, light weight, not too thick, dual or single sim ( depends on the market), wifi . . :) wishing u success.

 • Now MOBILEMASTER what's your own view and what you think about this phone let me know

 • I think its a good mobile not sure The ui of this mobile is good I think we would have a Rom on this sailfish os

 • I thinkk they choose a bad name. Jolla Jolla sounds bad. They should use a letter, or a word, and some numbers. Example:S9, or let's say Optimus S9(I know this is used by LG, I just wanted to say an example).

 • Hey bro first of all i am not fan of sammy and other products. Secondly why you waste yo precious money on this piece of crap buy another highend devise at that price. And let me know what's the meaning of samsung in your language please!

 • Hey bro dont't be so angry yaar. I am just saying that its price is higher than s3 one x and also nexus 4 in my region and also for your information my nexus7 is running ubuntu which is purest linux based OS. I hope you dont mind DALE...

 • Long time waiting..jolla is coming, time to upgrade my n9

 • finally a swype phone to take on where N9 ended.a must buy for me,hope they sell well and get app makers to produce great app for this, good to have many Os too choose from.Sailfish, android and ios

 • Such a beautiful phone it is. Really different. 'Unlike', like they say. Might be possible to have a qwerty-keyboard by changing the back plate. That would be a game changer, woudn't it?

 • but from which company, is this???????????/

 • Correction, Android is at the top, iOS only second for your information.

 • Jolla is a very interesting prospect, but will probably remain a niche player. iPhone with iOS is at the top of their game at the moment, despite what Android would like people to believe. It is probably the most complete, smooth package with user interface tailored from start to finish.

 • Thankfully someone in the world is trying to do something different both in the GUI and the physical form of the phone.

 • Have you used all those 4 phones you are comparing. In terms of smoothness, the most fluent and efficient is iOS 6.1 on iPhone 5.

 • Sailfish software and Lumia Hardware and then take my money.

 • Check out the first hands-on demo. Quite original and interesting, nothing like other phones.

 • After Nokia had dumped meego OS in the year 2010 and joined hands with microsoft hence paving the way for windows phones, the developers working on the meego platform seperated themselves from Nokia and planned to come up with a unique platform which would be either an extension of meego or somewhere between meego and android. And now, the wait seems to be over. Its an open source platform like android and will do good business. All it needs is backing by the developers and trust by the end users. My best wishes with Jolla.

 • The front side has an anodized aluminum frame!!!!! But it's thicker than 9mm:(

 • It's wrong, its name is simply 'Jolla', anyway, you say it means 'spider' in your language? It's coool! You have no idea how bad 'Samsung' sounds in my language, and despite of it it's actually the most common phone. Because, you know, you don't buy the name.

 • Guys look at that name jolla jolla but in my own regional language it means spider spider ha ha ha... That so crazy i mean who can buy this piece of shit at that price and you guys say it will over take andriod. The biggest joke of the year. I swear and i bet you it will never happen. Now there is only way nokia to partnership with ANDRIOD other wise i feel sorry bad for nokia cause i wanna see nokia with andriod!

 • wow! this phone is great, I've been expecting the launch of Jolla for a very long time. But is too expensive.I hope it's price will come down?

 • wow! this phone great, I've expecting the launch of Jolla for a very long time. But is too expensive. the it's price will come down.

 • its not laggy android that need 8 cores of cpu to run smooth ,sailfish os is faaaar faster and smoother than gs4 and iphone 5 even on nokia n950 with single core 1ghz cpu and 1gb ram , so think how fast it could be on a dualcore cpu . jolla/unlike

 • Great Phone.. love the design and the android compatibility is great!! cant ask for more...

 • The UI agree, but not the device, argueable anyway.

 • Yes, it's Jolla, i know what it is.

 • what a name.... lol jolla jolla ha ha ha

 • Isn't Jolla funded by Nokia and Nokia makes phones for them or I am wrong?

 • looks better than crapia lumias.

 • Which brand this mobile ?

 • this phone is not nokia. can you read it carefully

 • The design looks good but I will promise you that It won't feel good in your hand because the edges of each half is so sharp! And the CPU is just dual-core! I think it's not enough for a smartphone

 • Awesome design but the name is weird. The phone is worth looking at btw.

 • Looks great. Need to feel it. Watched Product unveiling did not go that great but still a fan of jolla.

 • i honestly hope its pentaband or i'll be one mad mofo

 • I just hope people not ask now for Nokia with Sailfish!

 • i need this phone!

 • Android killer. You wanted Nokia with Android? That'll never happen, but you got Jolla.

 • My next phone

 • yes! meego! it lives! :d

 • 1. I hope go worldwide.

 • Wow that's seems cool at firs sight !!

 • I've been watching this OS from the start and it runs on old model developers phone smoothly. Cant wait to see it on action with higher specs.
