LG G5 - User Reviews

  • usb here is 2.0 - not 3.0 - i know that because of usb transfer speed

  • Same problem is here...😢

  • How can I make it update? I never get an update for LG G5 H820

  • I picked up the LG G5 after literally shattering my last smartphone, the Coolpad Defiant, because its lagginess had filled me with so much rage in that I threw it to the cement with enough force to shatter the lightweight hunk of cheap plastic to little bits. I bought the phone from a shady cell phone shop in the back of a gas station corner market for about $95 in September 2018. My model is a AT&T H820 that has been carrier unlocked after the previous owner fulfilled the requirements for that. As such, thanks to AT&T, I am totally unable to upgrade the version of Android this phone runs, or replace it with anything else. AT&T refuses to serve you updates unless you are using an AT&T sim, and the bootloader is locked by AT&T so that I am unable to flash a custom rom of any sort, or even root the thing. Therefore, I am completely stuck with the stock OS that this phone original shipped with in 2016, Lollipop 6.0.1 with LG's "UX" skin on top. I have to say, I'm somewhat impressed. When I purchased the device, it was a quick buy with no forethought, and I assumed I would come to hate the device. But I only hate a couple things about it. Namely being stuck on Android 6, LG's skin, the small battery size (even with a replacement with higher capacity, I have to carry a charger with me most of the time), the LCD "ghosting" issue I have never witnessed on any other display I've ever seen, the inability to "turn down" the resolution of the screen to save battery, the 16:9 aspect ratio with large onscreen navigation buttons leaving you with annoyingly little screen real estate, and the relatively slow internal storage. Onto the pros of the device that make it a joy to use: The fact that the battery is removable is a godsend, particularly because the OEM battery sucks majorly. It's such a convenient feature, and shows how anti-consumer most modern smartphones have really become. You need to heat gun your phone to replace the battery, and potentially destroy it? Cool, I just need to push a button. The headphone jack is a nice addition, very advanced technology. The screen, despite my previous complaints, is very sharp and bright (and the ghosting thing only took a couple weeks to get used to and now it's easy to ignore totally). The 18W fast charging is wonderful. The internal specs of a Snapdragon 820, 4GB RAM, and 32GB storage are very nice; the 820/4G is plenty fast for most modern apps. I could see the phone running slowly if you tried to play games, but I don't do that, so I'm fine. The cameras, frankly, are stunning in terms of image quality, and I'm not even able to use GCam, I'm using Open Camera for goodness' sake, and the pictures are still great! The video is okay, even capable of 4K, though every resolution is limited to 30 fps. The expandable storage is always welcome. The fingerprint sensor is 100% accurate, convenient, and snappy. Overall, I've been able to get by with this phone very fine. I think the main reason it flopped is because of how heavily LG advertised its "modularity" that was extremely shoddily executed. Literally nobody who appreciates this phone in 2019 even mentions the modularity, because it may as well not exist. No modules beyond the launch ones were ever produced, and the need to shut down the device and swap batteries to replace modules is stunningly dumb, especially when compared to what Moto does and even what LG has done with the recent V50 ThinQ. Because of how integral this "modularity" was to the phone's identity, when that turned out to be a bust, everyone dismissed the phone wholly, even though it really isn't that bad. I think this is the same issue LG has always had, and it looks like the G8 ThinQ is going through the exact same death-by-marketing. This phone has actually made me gain a bit more of an appreciation for LG. I do still intend to upgrade from this phone to something better (and factory unlocked), but I might keep this thing around, or at the very least replace it with a factory unlocked G5 to mess around with, maybe load Lineage onto. Not a bad phone at all. My upgrade path is currently aimed at either an S10e or even a more recent G or V series LG phone.

  • After upgrading to android Oreo My keyboard still show in a faint way When doing other things, overheating and battery drain fast

  • My lg g5 hotspot does not on

  • here is the link:

  • I use Google's Messages as my default texting app. I used to be a big fan of Textra but I eventually moved to the Google one because Textra would usually end up delaying my texts or it didn't offer web previews. I don't know now if Textra offers that. One of the issues going back to my LG G5 as a main phone is it sorta lags when I open the app to text people. Solution? Download an older apk. I downloaded Messages when it was still 3.0 and opening it is noticeably quicker. Apps that are updated always get ruined and bloated at some point. I notice the older they are or closer to the phone or its software version release date, the better the experience. That's usually the case majority of the time. Go back to older version for apps. Only exceptions would be something like a GCam apk. With Nova Launcher, my favorite app animation under Look & Feel is Blink from Ice Cream Sandwich. Very little animation means buttery smooth transition. It's like instant. This helps older devices like the LG G5 feel smoother. Always find a solution if any problems. I'm going to use my LG G5 until it never turns on anymore. It wasn't known for bootloops. And if it breaks, cheap to get it fixed because it's modular! One of the most convenient smartphones ever made of this decade. Easily fixable like a Nokia 3310. Legendary

  • Folks should check out my comment about the Pixel 3 and how updating to Android 10 was a bad idea. I had to move my sim back to my G5. Who knew an LG would become the reliable one knowing their bad reputation? My G5 still has worse battery life than my Pixel 3 but it isn't as bad compared to using the yellow OEM batteries. My main reason going back is no touchscreen issues and Call Blacklist Pro still works. And I forget the SAR is low compared to the Pixel 3. G5 remains my favorite smartphone ever. And repairing them are easy. I have a newer build from late-2016. I don't have GPS issues. It can occasionally miss and the voice navigation won't speak but overall it's fine. Made some comparisons of the GCam to stock and ended up sticking to GCam. One of the main weaknesses to LG is their mediocre dynamic range while GCam was sharper and better contrasts. GCam also doesn't have the words on my t-shirt reversed if I take a selfie with the front cam. I can also adjust the size of the photo while the LG cam app I couldn't. Stuck on 16 MP with photo size over 8 MB. I know how maligned and what a flop the G5 was but I love this device! For a time, I did kinda hated it and was willing to sell it for a measly $100. But ever since I updated it to Nougat and the latest security patch (Dec 2017), it feels like a new device again. Now I really have no issues except the occasional software bug like the location signal still on after turning it off. I use a plain black wallpaper to avoid seeing any image retention. More folks should appreciate the LG G5 for being the pioneer of the wide-angle and being one of the last of its kind next to the V20 with removable battery and IR blaster on a flagship. Apple announced the iPhone 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max. All they did was copy LG about 3.5 years later with the wide-angle camera. LG G5 is one of the best smartphones I ever had. Underrated like the Sony PS Vita!

  • Try looking on XDA developers website for O/S updates they maybe able to help

  • How did you upgrade to 9.0

  • your battery percentage is too poor?

  • me too, how about your battery use?

  • How?

  • best phone ever it works fastly ..ilove it day after day

  • Phone is nice but now the back power button is not working and also the volume button is not decrease the volume. Is it caused due to dust inside or battery issue? any idea?

  • I was hoping for that too

  • Had it for 3+ years, happy with performance and picture quality. However 2800mAh is not enough and the build quality is very poor. But that's due to design things like removable battery, bottom piece. Also had problems with GPS signal and audio jack.

  • This is really a solid device... I had very bad experience with its stock UI but after installing lineage OS 9.0 its working blazingly fast.

  • What's the make of the 3200mah battery

  • LG G5 reclaimed its throne as the best smartphone I ever had. Definitely my favorite again. Nomore overheating thanks to updating to Nougat 7.0 and latest security patch (December 2017). The image retention is pretty much gone with the blue light filter app and just using a plain black wallpaper and black theme. The battery lasts longer with the red 3200 mAh battery and it fast charges again. I need to charge it to 100% as the first 1% drain can last over 20 minutes. It's main weakness is GPS as I tested it doing DoorDash and it can get wonky but it is still usable. The software update actually fixed my Wi-Fi issues and it's the only smartphone that can consistently connect to my router at home. An underrated aspect to the G5 is it is very easy to repair. Something I can't say with many current flagships. I plan to keep this phone and use it as multimedia player for years and years. I'll just keep buying newer dated third-party batteries to keep it going... Favorites 1. LG G5 2. Google Pixel 3 3. Essential Phone Wanting to buy another Essential Phone after my first one broke two months ago. But unlike the G5, it's going to be far more difficult to replace the battery and find parts for it. The LG G5 and V20 were the last flagships to offer removable battery and easy to repair. It also uses IPS which lasts longer than AMOLED. Once the Essential Phone battery is dead, it becomes a paperweight. At least with Google Pixels, I can always go to uBreakitiFixit, their official repair shops. The modular design of the LG G5 offers far more longevity in case the display breaks or it needs another battery to keep it working for several more years. Unicorn device.

  • Your right ,g G5 is really good, it's just that the OEM battery doesn't last long.

  • Charger isn't original

  • LG G5 will go as one of the most underrated retro smartphones of all-time. No bootloops. Can use it for as long as it still works. Will keep buying newer dated third-party batteries for it as that's better than older dated OEM batteries. The 3200 mAh battery tends to drain slowly if charged to 100% as I lose 1% after 20+ minutes. So I charge it up to 100% until it reaches 40%. This is one of the best of all-time for me and better than the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, S5, Note 1-4, or any Samsung that offered removable batteries. Only the LG V20 is slightly better than it but I had to sell mine because I couldn't stand the size.

  • Why the battery can't charge with charger when drained completely

  • Screen On Time

  • what does SOT mean

  • Went back to the red SHENMZ battery and I'm hoping it was just a fluke it shut off randomly. Might have needed to be completely drained once a month. I tested using AccuBattery and it definitely lasts longer than the yellow OEM batteries. With the OEM battery which I barely ever used, one hour SOT can kill over 20%. I went from 80% to 54% within 75 minutes SOT. On the Chinese battery, it kills like 13% or half the rate. And the OEM batteries die very, very quickly under 30% while the Chinese one lasts at least double or even triple the SOT. The OEM batteries are pretty awful. Avoid using them if you want better stamina. The Chinese battery also handles fast charging consistently while the OEM batteries will charge very slow over time. My only concern with third-party Chinese batteries is they can randomly die out after reading the Amazon reviews.

  • Update on the 3200 mAh red battery that says SHENMZ. The battery indicator had it at about 70% (although the % is off) but it completely died on me when idle for no apparent reason. So I went back to one of the three yellow OEM batteries I still have. So far, the overheating still hasn't returned. I guess updating to the latest software/security patch and updating the LG apps really did work. The Chinese red battery could be total rubbish. As long as the overheating won't return, I can live using the old yellow OEM batteries manufactured from three years ago. Only issues is they die quickly once below 30% but I own three of them plus that Chinese battery and I get a notification sound when it reaches 40%, so I don't mind. Long live the LG G5!

  • Noted to mention... Widely support for screen sharing through usb c to eveything (hdmi/vga/etc)

  • You got a GOOD high capacity Chinese battery? What brand?!

  • It's been three days since I updated everything to the latest software version. Nomore overheating. Crazy to think I was ready to sell this device like four days ago and now it became one of my most reliable smartphones. My Pixel 3, Moto E4, and MacBook Air can not connect to my router but my Mi 3 and G5 can. The battery life on my G5 also lasts a little longer but I decided to turn off the battery % again to avoid staring at it. I keep it between 40-80% as I usually will use it at home. I have a battery notifier app when it reaches those %. Typing on it right now. It's almost working like I first got it. Very smooth and runs fairly cool. Again, one of my favorite phones of all-time.

  • Update on my overheating LG G5... Got the 3200 mAh battery three days ago. First time, it worked fine. Lasted longer. Then I did a full discharge and the overheating returned. Thought it was another third-party Chinese POS battery that I wasted another $20 on fron Amazon. Was ready to finally give up on my LG G5 and just sell it on Craigslist for $80. Then yesterday morning, my Google Pixel 3 stopped connecting to my Wi-Fi connection for no reason. I did everything including deleting everything on it and turning off my router. It still won't connect. Guess which phone was my unsung hero yesterday? My Xiaomi Mi 3! It connects to my router and runs beautifully after nearly 5 years. It's the longest and most reliable smartphone I ever had. Snapdragon 800 was an efficient, cool running SoC. Going back to my G5, what I did was just update my firmware, security patch, and whatever LG apps I could. Guess what? It actually worked! No more overheat. I didn't have to restore it to new either. And I love having the split-screen feature again which was never found in MM. On Marshmallow, it took 4 minutes to kill 1%. If it was overheating, 2 minutes. Now it last about 6-7 minutes until it kills 1%. That's 10+ hrs SOT for video playback. I used to hate updating my firmware as it used to ruin ny battery life. The irony that updating the firmware and the latest security patches actually saved my LG G5 from being sold. So for anybody having issues, just update your firmware and get the latest security patch. My RS988 only got up to December 2017. Update most of your apps as well as some might act like a rogue app incompatible with the latest firmware/API. I actually had Nougat on my previous Sprint G5 before but didn't like the RAM usage. Nougat saved my G5. That's why I haven't installed all my apps and media files back on my Pixel 3 yet. Quiche will be released in August and I want to be ready to do a restore to new once it arrives. Updating to the latest firmware and security fixes really does benefit and I was sold before to never update beyond Pie. I could still be talking a little too early because problems can always arise again with LG. But now I found some joy and benefits updating to the latest. I just hope with my Pixel 3, the next firmware update can fix my Wi-Fi issues that my other phones could easily do. Even my G5's Wi-Fi issues went away with the latest update. My only complaint on my G5 is I wished it got Oreo. Some carrier variants got it but my unlocked version never did. I despise the yellow blob emojis. Oreo made them look normal again. It's a minor nitpick compared to the hell it gave me with the overheating, 2 hr or less SOT, and Wi-Fi issues. As long as the battery doesn't get warm, the stamina on mine goes from average to fairly excellent. Been using this phone for more than 30 minutes with screen on and only killed 5%. Before, I could kill 5% in less than 10 minutes. Android 7 saved the day.

  • Very BAD Battery Life, 2 Hours Of Gaming.

  • Just installed the SHENMZ 3200 mAh battery into my phone like 30 minutes ago. So far, so good. The battery does seem to last longer. I only killed 4% and have been using it for 20+ minutes. The OEM batteries would drain 1% every 2 minutes if it was overheating. The most important thing is my phone remains stone cold. My other issue with my G5 is the Wi-Fi disconnect. But if this battery is the real deal, I have one less problem to worry about. I might throw away the OEM batteries if this one last long enough for me that I will buy some more. The OEM batteries were the definitely the main problems for the overheating. Even playing a video would cause them to get very warm after a few minutes.

  • As a daily driver smartphone: 7/10 As a jack-of-all-trades multimedia player: 9/10 The LG G5 has unique qualities like removable battery, microSD slot, wide-angle camera, headphone jack, and IR blaster that you won't find on an iPad and iPod touch. My silver G5 also looks pretty nice and the external speaker is excellent. I just kept looking at it the wrong way. My 3200 mAh battery actually arrives tomorrow. I hope it can eliminate the overheating for good which is my only real gripe with it. As a multimedia player, it really does offer unique features you won't find anymore on other newer devices.

  • I took some advice from another website and decided to buy this 3200 mAh battery from Amazon... I have the RS988, so I'm not sure if it will fit. I'll just to wait this Friday to find out. Reading the reviews, the overheating might finally go away. The OEM batteries that were made are a piece of junk. All three of my OEM batteries overheat. This 3200 mAh could be my last hope and give my G5 a new lease in life. The LG G5 really is a great device outside of it being a phone. Feels good in the hand it it isn't overheating. One of the last flagships to offer removable battery. First to offer wide-angle and it still takes great photos. Very easy to open up and fix as it scored a 8/10 in iFixit. There's alot of versatility with the G5. I considered buying another Essential Phone after I broke mine 10 days ago. I went nah. A new one for the halo gray I want costs $500+ on eBay! For that much, I'd rather get a Pixel 2. I actually think the Essential is superior to the overrated Pixel 2 but not $250 superior. I mentioned that because for only $20, I can easily buy another LG G5 battery. Because once that Essential Phone dies, it dies. Hard to replace the battery on it. Repairability is an underrated aspect.

  • My LG G5 still does "LG things" like overheating or whatever random issues. And when the overheating does happen, it gets slower in UI and faster drain in battery life. I still have two spare OEM batteries. I came to the conclusion that the overheating will never go away and perhaps the disconnecting to Wi-Fi. It sometimes won't wake up with my fingerprint. I also came to realize that if viewed as just a multimedia device, the G5 is actually one of the all-time greats. Not as a phone but a multimedia device. Think about it... IR blaster Excellent bottom firing speaker Excellent camera for 2016 MicroSD card slot Removable battery FM radio (for different variants) Easier to browse on this than say a PS Vita So if you take away the negativity as a phone with GPS issues or whatever, it really does make an excellent device for other things. It is awful with my Bluetooth wireless headset. I think Snapdragon 820 didn't get to the level of the 835 and after. I just have to see my LG G5 In a different light to appreciate what it is. A crappy LG phone but a fantastic multimedia device for other things. I never cared for tablets and I believe the LG G5 is more useful than any of those thanks to the wide-angle camera and IR blaster. Bad phone. Practical and a jack-of-all-trades in other areas.

  • why do you despise iOS?

  • The CPU Cooler feature from the All-In-One Toolbox really is working at least for my case. Any time I start to feel it get warmer, I just use that app. It's probably a rogue app that keeps it warm. I know because when I put it in safe mode, it stopped overheating. There's CPU Cooler features for other Cleaner apps and even from 360 Security. I just use AIO because I got so used to it cleaning my cache. Back to being one of my all-time favorites! I'll put it #2. My image retention also never returned. Everything else about it is pretty great. I thought 2016 was the turning point for phone cameras. Very little grain and artifacts indoors fron the G5 & V20. Go back using a 2014 smartphone flagship camera and it's like night & day compared to the last three years. Google, LG (wide-angle), and Huawei took things to another level with phone cameras. Samsung and Apple phone cameras have always been overrated. How Google and LG did it was better by 2016. Any time I see Samsung brag about their wide-angle lens, I scream biter. LG did it first. BTW, LG G5 > Samsung Galaxy S7 camera S7/S7 edge cameras were so overrated.

  • I meant it's NOT the end-all be-all solution but try it out anyway. I have the pro edition of All-In-One Toolbox, btw. I hate seeing ads everywhere. I sold my iPhone SE recently. I absolutely despise iOS. This was two months after I sold my LG V20. So it's become a smaller lineup of four phones... Google Pixel 3 (daily driver) Motorola Moto E4 (GPS) LG G5 (multimedia) Xiaomi Mi 3 (light browser) LG G5 is really my love/hate phone. When it's working perfectly, it's one of my favorites. When it isn't, I can hate it as much as any phone I ever had.

  • Had All-In-One Toolbox on my phones for years but rarely used their CPU Cooler feature. It actually works! Any time my G5 starts to heat up, I'll use it. It's the end-all be-all fix, but folks should use it. Back to being one of my favorites. There is still issues using the Dasher, tethering, and Wi-Fi disconnections. I will never buy another LG phone again but I won't hate this phone as much if the CPU Cooler can eliminate one of my main gripes with it.

  • Factory reset your phone, it should help. Also turn Google Play Store Auto Update to off after resetting and installing your applications.

  • polarcell...take a look

  • Still excellent phone in 2019. Great camera, good performance. I can't seem to find a good replacement battery, the ebay/ali batteries are all bad.

  • My G5 is really weird to me. Some days, it will act like the worst phone I ever had. The image retention went away with an sFilter lite app but my biggest problems now is still the overheating which results to very short battery life and laggy UI performance or my Wi-Fi disconnecting. As of right now, I just deleted my app cache and forgot my network before logging my password again. Turned off the smart switch from data to Wi-Fi or vice-versa. The last couple days since the death of my Essential Phone, the G5 is acting very good again. We'll see how far this goes. I'm typing on it right now and I'm on one of the better days with it. I have very much a love/hate relationship with this phone. It can be the best or worst phone ever all within a moment.

  • Worst phone I ever owned; had to replace the fingerprint sensor about 3 times.

  • You can install the application from LG store or Google Play store. It do have radio hardware, it's just the application is not installed on fresh instalation

  • My friend, your phone is about to experience the famous bootloop issue. I would recommend you to save your data ASAP. Sync your pictures and documents. These are traits of the bootloop issue. I experienced it on G4 and G5 :) In G4 it was sudden but in G5 it was like what you wrote and suddenly it died one day.

  • my phone does not have radio

  • After 1 year of owing the LG G5. The phone is getting overheat, battery drain so fast if just do youtube, no game at all. Wi-fi sometimes disconnect. The phone will occasionally and restart itself. i guess it happen to all cell phone nowadays.

  • You are wrong about Lg g5 introducing wide cam first. nokia lumia 930 has wide and it came out before g5.

  • What was once my all-time favorite smartphone is now one of my most hated. Here are my issues - Image retention (was corrected). Overheating which results to shorter battery life. Disconnects with my Wi-Fi network. Need to reboot every time I install an app from outside the store. Can't open my Dasher app using mobile data. Can't tether anymore. The skin is laggy after awhile. It no longer fast charges which was a problem in the earlier days already. I'm not starting to HATE LG. Poor quality. I've owned three different LG phones and sold two of them. This G5 is practically USELESS to me except as a multimedia player. If I can't connect to any Internet, it's useless. And when I actually do, it overheats or doesn't do what I need it to do. It didn't more than hour to switch my SIM back to my Pixel 3. I will only stick to Pixel phones for now on. My new all-time smartphone is now the Essential Phone. After 9 months, that's still a very, very reliable phone. Worst camera of the trio but definitely the most reliable. And reliability is the most important aspect to me. Not features, SoC, design, or whatever. I need to rely on a phone to help suffice my daily needs. I basically "unfanned" myself from the LG G5. It used to rank. Now it's Essential Phone at #1 and Google Pixel 3 at #2. I don't care about the rest. I want stock Android for now on. LG is junk.

  • This is in regards to the LG h831 I factory reset it trying to get my Google account up but it says this device was reset to continue sign in with Google account that was previously synced on this device how do I get around this so what is it

  • All around great, stable phone. Way more reliable than my old Samsung Note 4 as far as performance. It runs smoothly and fast, and very seldom have I had application crashes. I have never had one phone crash (amazing coming from a Note 4) and it is very nice to have such a stable phone to rely on. It can sometimes run hot, but otherwise, I love it.

  • i has an issue with gps in a lot of g5, gps fail due to small bump or swallowed battery. the solution is easy, is there on youtube. it was a design flaw . in another hand is fantastic phone, no issues.

  • well i use 2 batteries for intense use along the day

  • Does the G6 battery last long?

  • Using another blue filter app called s-Filter LITE and hoping my image retention problems finally go away. Set the opacity to 15% and the color to black. Started using the gray wallpaper again. Haven't seen it returned but it's only been like 8 hours. The image retention gets really annoying when watching videos in full screen especially YouTube. It's weird because I actually didn't have the issue on my current G5 until ten months later when my previous G5 and V20 showed it after three. My V20 actually never showed image retention after using a blue filter app but my current G5 did. I actually really love my G5. It's the two issues of image retention and the random overheating is why I no longer put it tops as my favorite. I also enjoy Android Pie more and Snapdragon 835 & 845 run much cooler over 820. This is a very underrated smartphone especially one from 2016. It's probably a smartphone I will never sell because I still need that IR blaster. Every time I see Samsung brag about their wide-angle camera on their S10 in ads, I cringe knowing LG was the one who first brought it out for their G5. I hear the next iPhone will use wide-angle too. The year of 2016 was the last time I felt LG was still unique by using removable batteries, matte backs, IR blaster, and headphone jack. Now LG is like everybody else. Bringing wide-angle was just gravy. Now all these other copycats brag they have wide-angle too. Never forget LG G5 was the first to offer it but everyone still bashes its failed modular design.

  • I agree with your opinion .

  • I think LG G5 is the best Cell phone of its era. Any one can play 2048 Cupcakes free game online.

  • Hi all. I have to say that this is a marvelous phone. Everything works as it should. Only downside is the backlight. On the sun i can't see "shit", i have to use shade and really bulge my eyes. But everything else is really very very good. The finger scanner works awesome not crapy as on samsung, actually is like on BlackBerry.

  • What up People said regarding GPS performance is true. GPS in this phone is a crap. Bad maybe this is even not the most important thing. I've been using Phone for my Everyday communication in a place where there is no strong signal facing the situation when quite often no communication was possible. Recently I've put the same sim card to another Phone and this time it was a Chinese ZTE phone blade A452. On this phone I get quite good signal all the time. Before LGG5 I had LGG4 G3. All Of them soon broke down. I will newer buy LG phone again.

  • I want to buy lg g5 please is it good phone

  • Best phone I've ever owned. I love the fact that I can buy a battery on Amazon for £15 if I need one and a screen isn't a whole lot more, and I can replace them myself. GPS doesn't work well on these phones but everything else is great. Unfortunately now I need more RAM and LG seem to have dropped out of the phone market, I guess I'll have to look elsewhere. :(

  • LG might be the first to apply the idea of modular smartphone, but it was Motorola who kept it going. Pity that LG dropped that idea for the G6, otherwise we would have a worthy competitor for the Motorola Z series lineup.

  • note 4 cant do anything over g5

  • LG G5 is still my favorite smartphone of all-time. I'm aware of the flaws but it's still my favorite.

  • This phone or Samsung note 4?

  • its has chronic gps isues.if u want to use it for navigation plz plz dont buy.otherwise d phone is good.

  • I miss the phone materials used from 2016. Tired of glass backs. LG G5/V20 HTC 10 OnePlus 3/3T ZTE Axon 7 Apple iPhone SE/7/7 Plus Google Pixel/Pixel XL I can't believe 2016 is now considered the good ol' days.

  • The only reason why I can never put my Essential Phone over my LG G5 as my favorite phone ever is because while it has my favorite software, I don't like the comfort in my hand and the lack of real essentials like headphone jack, microSD slot, removable battery, and even bonuses like wide-angle cam and IR blaster. I know the LG G5 is so hated. I get it. It's not perfect by any means. But man, I love that phone. Mine is still on Marshmallow and it's still smooth. For some reason, it takes forever for my Essential to grap my Married With Children thumbnails when viewed on QuickPic. It's little details like that which is why can I never put my Essential over my G5. My G5 is practically retired. I'll probably store it in my drawer for a few months. But to type on, it's easily my favorite and for music as well. The overheating went away. The image retention is rarely. And my only real, real issue is battery life. That's why I practically turned off the battery %. I know a ton of people hate the G5 or just hate LG altogether. But I'll always love the LG G5. The first to introduce the wide-angle can three years ago and everyone is copying it now.

  • I owned lg g5 which was a great phone. Except battery And now i own lg g6 which far away better. And i recommend it

  • but is not Israel part of Europe.....

  • There is a flood of H850 from China for under A$200. I've got one. Condition, hardware, camera seems excellent. But the software included Android security patch is Jan 2018, no updates available. I attempted to unlock (to load latest LineageOS on it), you have to submit data to developer.lge.com to get bootloader. LG spit the error on me - the phone appeared to be LGH850.ISR - Isralian model (Even though Chinese sale it as EUROPE). And as it turns out all phones for Israel are OEM locked, no way around. Unfortunately, you do not see subversion unless you submit ID to LG. I've sent it back as I do not want a phone which is hackable by anyone.

  • the phone is good overall it wont boot loop tat's totally false has decent memory and processor only issue is because of bad luck your display may have retention on screen but other than that excellent one of the best cameras nothing to envy to newer devices

  • Avoid. I had too many die within months.

  • I like to buy this phone, but i am afraid of the comments about the bootloop and other problems, what should i do? advise me.

  • 03/20/2019 and still no oreo updated for my phone cant believe it my next phone will be a Samsung for sure

  • Sinced Dec 2016 i owned it, this phone has nothing happened or problems for daily usage, H860 dual. Different with S7edge, about 3 months of usage, screen goes off and faster heated up. Thats my friend phone.

  • I have a LG G5 2017 MODEL. I broke my sim and memory tray. The local cellphone technician cannot obtain this part. Anyone who can held?

  • After for almost 1 year old, this phone made new problem. Now it heats up faster and drained the battery much faster than usual. Restarting and hard reset had nothing to do with this thing, it didn't give any improvements. After screen retention and had to fix it, slow updates and some minor problem on network, my sister is now had a total give up on this phone. So sad it's a piece of crap from LG. No wonder their sales is getting down every years. Planning to buy S10 or Note9. No more LG phones.

  • Out of the target phone recycling bin. If you're in the US and got a nearby target, go through the phone recycling bin. There's tons of good stuff in there most the time (last I went I got the G5 and an Amazon Kindle Keyboard edition)

  • Where?

  • weird but tap focus and you got a sharp pic

  • Pretty decent performance and feel, although the unlock button may need a couple clicks sometimes. I love all the misc features like headphone jack, IR blaster, FM radio, removable battery and SD card slot, I wish more manufacturers would get on board with more of these. The wide angle camera is a cool feature, but the main camera is decent at best. Basically it works pretty good for taking photos at a minimum distance of several feet away under ideal lighting conditions. The auto focus doesn't work for anything up close; even trying to take a picture of a page of text is difficult.

  • Why

  • if u don't care about updates then your last version can be 7.0 or 8.0 some devices may have screen ghosting ... some people say gps issues mine has 7.0 and has screen ghost but no that bothers me at alli think most people complaint about it .. is the kind of people that use broken screen devices any way overall good phone

  • Why?? I ask coz wana purchase one

  • Just don't buy!

  • I've had this phone for about two weeks now and absolutely hate it. Even with various YouTube tutorials the GPS always craps out. Phone sometimes loses signal when switching cell sites. Half the time I call people even if stationary I'm told it's breaking up yet I have 3 bars. Charging port already acting up. DO NOT BUY

  • You're pretty much in good hands! 8.0 update is not stable at all

  • So I've. been using this phone for more than a year. I started experiencing this issue that whenever the phone has to restart or even when I turn it off intentionally, it becomes difficult to turn it on again. It will power on with a divided screen( half dark, half ash). So whenever that happens, I leave it for a week then after that it will power on normally again. So the thing is, as the phone is now powered on, I will not have any issue with the screen until I have to restart it. What will be the clause?

  • No, bootloop issues is something of the past. Like exploding batteries in the Note7.

  • No it has not + it is great phone . Except battery (not too good. Not too bad) Cam is wonderfull But i recommend to buy lg g6. It is better

  • is it has bootloop issues? please tell me, i am worried to buy...

  • No updates yet Sure last phone from lg

  • the phone is not bad ..... it is really good even camera sensor is bigger that g6,g7,v30,v35. the performance of the 820 is still flagship level . for lg is not convenient update its devices to oreo because ... no body would buy their new stock .... but at same time they are doing the opposite not winning followers of good updates and support on a phone ....

  • Apart from screen retention and no updates, this is pretty good phone though. I did sent my sister G5 and replaced the new screen, she started to love it back. Updates is not her business, as long as the phone works great. Good for gaming if not great, PUBG still runs at consistent FPS. Less bloatware and pretty solid camera but still there's a lot of room for improvements that could be made via software updates. Battery is not at it's best, but to keep it for a day is possible.

  • I just purchased the H820N dual sim version and right away noticed the GPS issue. Loses connection every minute or two but I noticed if I put the phone higher towards the car windshield the GPS is fine. Must be a weak built-in antenna.

  • screen is bad with burning .. worst no software support lg already took out of security updates v20 and g5 and still no 8.0 update on mine well will be my last lg phone that's for sure

  • Problems : * battery * screen glitch and it flickers overall: not a good phone

  • bravo lg new year 2 year old software kudos for lg for keeping their customer outdated ..... they created a software center in order to provide faster updates ... well how slow could they be if there was not not such center hahaha that makes me laugh I own an lg g5 rs988 unlocked version ... no carrier branded and carrier branded version updated first than mine if maybe is going to be updated ... shame on you lg shame on you then you wonder why customer don't pay attention to your products even they are superior to another phone brands even if at the same ask price point from you I get a high end and with other a mid range .. still mid range from another company will have better treat on OS updates .. this is the truth I hope this message arrived to your office

  • mine too shame on lg because our model is not carrier branded

  • My LG G5 model RS988 still on android 7.0 :(

  • it is same if not better cause it uses all lg friends ... the only but main issue you may experience is

  • Is f700K/L/S(korean) models have same features? I will want to buy that korean version.thanks

  • I have LG G5. Overally it is a very good phone, the camera is great because it also has ultra-wide feature. The only problem I was never able to fix (self-fixing based on youtube videos, service) was GPS. It never worked completely. Sometimes worked, sometimes not, now it is completely dead. I heard many LG phones have GPS defect, so that is the main reason I want to buy something new. Btw. I already have 8.0.0 android on it. I live in Slovakia. What I want from phone: ultra-wide camera, infrared, IP68, always-on display, no curved edge. Now if you only combine IP68 and infrared, you only get latest Huawei phones and a LG one. Mate 20 Pro has display issues and I don't want LG. Is that even possible that there is no phone for me?

  • cant believe lg v20 oreo update which was rolled out several moths before lg g5 is still struggling with some devices .... cant belive that lg g4 no update history is going to happen to em again my g4 was expecting nougat and now my g5 is expeting oreo which it may not have in the way that this update is being rolled out ... android 9 is out and lg is focusing on g7 .... thanks lg ... even low end devices got 8.1 as a software update what a shame ... im sure that ill move to Samsung or apple as soon as this device die

  • mine is rs988 this is U.S.A unlocked variant 7.0 still I ty everyday to look for update but nothing yet.. tried to contact Lg about it but ...they said that this update must be approved for all carriers in usa so it can work with their networks ... this is a shame every single 2016 flaghship has 8.0 already but no lg ....... even Samsung low end line has the f*** update too ...

  • How can I root my lg g5 at&t?

  • im actually shocked that your device is still on 7.0...my brother's own is already on 8.0...what model are you using?

  • This was the worst phone I have ever owned. Constant bootloop issues, camera issues and GPS issues. I will never own another LG product. Called customer service, they advised me to do a factory data reset. Did that, same issues. Replaced it with a Kyocera . That's unfortunate because previously the best phone I ever owned was an LG flip phone.

  • today my taiwan version LG G5 received a new update, version v30c-NOV-22-2018,SECURITY PATCH LEVEL NOVEMBER 1,2018

  • what a shame lg don't care about us last lg for me no worth money .... still 7.0 even low end devices has been updated to 8.0 and even 9.0 shame shame shame

  • I have one of that too. And there is no update here And i have the H831 model. There is update for it

  • My LG H-850 is running android 7.0 and is not showing any available software updates. Did this model get an update to android 8.0 or not?? Does anyone know?

  • My lg g5 h830 was bootloop broblem

  • 6000 mha ??? That is great From where did you buy it . And how does it cost please ?? Im afraid from fake batteries . It can effect the phone in bad way

  • Where did you get the 6000 mah battery?

  • I'm so much in love with G5 now. I hate its battery before. Until I discovered to use modded battery. I'm using 6000 mah battery now hehe

  • unless you want a glass sandwich with an amoled display ... G5 is way better better processor 2x as fast , more ram, better camera, removable battery, micro sd slot, at least android 8 as latest update on it .... now it is up to you

  • Lg G5 for sure . It is far away better than galaxy s6

  • Yes, lg g5 is a good option if you like better camera , snapdragon 820 . battery performance is average some cases better than s6.

  • Anybody tell me can I bought this phone or not .I am confused between LG g5 or Samsung s6

  • that's what I was wondering too some one from lg informed that it is imminent but bad part of it is that even low end devices has gotten it already... lg wants us to buy newer in order to have update it our phones

  • but then you loose a lot of functionality at expense of raw performance ... by a mere increase it is not worthy I mean stock version is fast enough my phone never lags it is a sd820 ....

  • Maybe instead of using Android Oreo full of bloatware and other crap not needed or used try rooting your phone and using an actually decent rom?

  • Never update to Oreo. The update is not stable. I will kill your phone's performance and battery within hours.

  • Still stuck on 7.0 with April 2017 security patch on H850. Quite terrible really, considering other flagships of it's era have gotten 8 for a while now.

  • any information about rs988 oreo update ?

  • I had the same problem before but on this week I updated Oreo. Mine also VS987. Just do a factory reset to your phone &check for update again. It will work .

  • if your phone shuts off repeatedly then you got to purchase a new battery

  • My favorite smartphone of all-time.. again. 1. LG G5 2. LG V20 3. Essential Phone 4. Apple iPhone SE I love my Essential Phone. Still my daily driver. It has done nothing wrong but I need to support removable battery, microSD slot, wide-angle lens, headphone jack, and IR blaster. Features that benefit me in the long run. My LG G5 still has issues of overheating and image retention. But at the end of the day, the G5 and V20 are always the ones I go to as that perfect media player. My Essential doesn't have enough space for 30 of my favorite movies. My LGs got Crazy Rich Asians last night with no trouble thanks to the 128 GB cards. And I always need them when I turn off the TV and handle the volume. The LGs are close to the last almost "perfect" phones to have all the all-around features.

  • I am updated my lg g5 h830 model Android 8.0 after updating phone on/off continuous automatically.after some time battery removed again fixed and started then on/off coming continuously.i am taking mobile lg show room they can't identify the problem.so again I checked the outside show room they can identify the problem . Problem is power supply from start button to battery OK but board power goes to insufficient. Where my problem solved give me suggestions bro.

  • The overheating and drastic battery drain when using Wi-Fi or watching video only happens once in awhile. Since turning off the %, it eliminated my paranoia but the overheating can still happen. What I did was just turn off the phone a few times. The overheating goes away for some reason. It tends to come back if say I added another app to it. Weird. Happened when I tried installing Google Pay and then turned on NFC. I just don't add any new apps and rarely update the apps I do have. Only the Chase app because they force me to every few months. Right now, I'm typing from my G5 and no overheating with Wi-Fi on. I guess the key is to restart it a few times. I still love this phone even with its quirks. I hope to keep it around as long as it turns on just to use for my TV remote and music player. It's also quite nice to type on it for notes. The G5's curvy sides are nicer in the hands than my blocky, angular Essential Phone.

  • Thanks a lot for your replay Can you please give me a direct link to dowload the frimware

  • you can upgrade it manually like i did mine, i downloaded a 8.0 firmware, used uppercut to flash it into the phone, you don't have to root it or even to unlock the bootloader! There are good guides out there, my LG G5 is the h850_marketing version, i used a regular h850 on it and it works perfectly. Good luck!

  • Any Oreo for Sprint LS992

  • Just upgrade to LG G5 H860 Oreo, it is smooth and better battery, the phone not so hot like Pie after 10 minutes usage. But LG G5 H860 no dual sim line, since singapore cancelled 2G line. Go malaysia will have dual sim line. Wonder why LG G5 H860 is a relatively new phone why no Sim card 1(4G) + Sim card 2(3G) configuration.

  • I have an lg g5 h850 Suffix : AO2UTN Network : O2U there is no oreo update . not via wifi . and not even via LG Bridge Any news please ?

  • What about the update of at&t? Still using 7.0 and there is no update available

  • Use this Available on Mac/PC Follow exactly what it says! When it's downloading, it is a bit longer that thought. There is no progress percentage to let you know the download progress. Just be patient it took me 1.5 hours.

  • Hello, I had updated my Lg G5 Verizon to 8.0.0 Oreo. If it says cannot download due to connection on your phone, you should use Software Upgrade Assistant (LG) It's very easy all you have to do is follow the instructions. If it seems not downloading, don't worry, it just taking a bit longer to download depends on your connection. Just be patient!!!!!

  • If you live outside the US or don't use a Verizon sim card, you can't update via OTA, only by a computer. You need to connect the G5 to the computer and then in USB options you choose Software installation, then you should double click on the Verizon update assistant and the software will install in your PC. Once installed, you can run the software to install the latest update on your phone. Even if you are using a Verizon sim card and you have trouble to install the update via OTA, you should check the method above.

  • Hello guys I have the verizon variant VS987EA but it's not downloading oreo though I recieved the download notification when I navigate to the update area. I usually recieve this message "Sorry we had trouble checking for system updates. This might be because your connection was interrupted. You can try again when you are connected" I will really appreciate any help. Please note that I have cleared all cache, tried system wipe but still the same. Thanks.

  • Does the image retention can be vanished? i used lg g5 for 3 months and have the problem since i bought it but this after 3 months the ghosting looks lower and reduced. maybe can completely healed after a long usage.

  • guys, i have LG G5 H860 i'd like to ask if i going to receive Oreo or not . Btw i'm from Cairo,Egypt

  • I think I have a love and hate relationship with my G5. Right now, I'm back to loving it again. Overheating doesn't happen as much but what really killed my anxiety was just turning off the battery %. I did it for my V20 as well. The only two phones I did that for. An app will just notify me when it reaches 40% or 80%. My G5 just feels smooth using too. I think I babied it too much. When I decided to just use it like any other phone, my experience with using it has gotten better and better. I haven't seen image retention for the last few weeks either. Other than the battery life and fairly dim display, the G5 really is quite underrated and very good all-around phone. The camera on this after 2.5 years is still quite amazing. And for some reason, it might be my favorite smartphone ever to type on since it feels so smooth and perfect keyboard size. I just love using SwiftKey on it and also listening to my video's audio at night using MX Player Pro. Bottom-firing but it sounds quite loud and full.

  • Decided to turn off the battery % on my G5. Nomore paranoia. One of my apps will make a notification sound every time it reaches 40% or 80%. The weird thing is the fast battery drain on Wi-Fi and overheating doesn't happen all the time. Only random times. I still love the phone. Easily my 2nd favorite Android phone ever. I just don't trust LG like I used to.

  • Search in youtbe for RECOVERY LG G5 or HARD RESET LG G5, with a combination of key presses (POWER + VOLUME DOWN) you enter a menu that lets you Factory Reset the phone, hoping that will solve it.

  • Check for updates Oreo is available for your phone

  • Battery problem

  • Hello G5 Users, I recently updated my G5 to Oreo, after which I am having an unique issue regarding wallpaper scaling. No matter how much I try to center the wallpaper (using the boundary brackets), the wallpaper would apply but rather deviate from original selected position. Does anyone have the same issue with regard to wallpaper scaling? Thank you Kind Regards, Sachin

  • I do actually, ever since I heard about the G5 getting Oreo I checked for updates like twice a week, probably has nothing to do with it but idk...

  • My screen shuts down when a call is made, incoming or outgoing, which means I cannot use an online switchboard :(. Can anyone tell me how to turn this annoying feature in an otherwie brilliant phone off?

  • I had this phone for 6 months before I broke the screen. 2 months later it is dead, probably due to me keeping it in my pocket. Never keep this phone in a pocket, and protect it from moisture religiously. Your warranty is likely to be needed. I wish I had signed up for one.

  • My AT&T G5 just got the Oreo update last night but honestly, too little too late. Looking at the oneplus 6t or pixel 3 (not the horrendous XL) for my next phone

  • my lg g5 is fine .... on android 7.0 waiting for 8.0 mine is rs988 good camera , good wide angle, good sound, good speed .. no need to change it for a long time, easy to repair in case that I need to ...micro sd 128 gb + 32 gb internal no need more storage... good size of phone easy to use one hand and pocket friendly

  • Mine recently (within the last week or so) has been upgraded to android oreo (8.0) and works great. It was initially little sluggish when it upgraded and I had to clear some cache/reboot phone etc. it but no issues since. Battery life seems about the same (it was never spectacular because the battery is a bit small at 2800mAh) With heavy use will have to charge once throughout the day, with casual use(not turning it on every 2 minutes) I'll get 2 - 3 days just fine. Luckily if your battery gets old and doesn't hold a charge you can just get a new one for like 20 bucks on amazon. Because of the update to the OS I'll be keeping mine for at least another 6 months to a year because android 8.1 isn't that much of an upgrade and 9.0 just came out a month ago.

  • My new battery came in last night as I have it shipped at my parent's home. The manufacturing date says March 26, 2016. This was made around the same time as my spare battery. I doubt it fixes the drain. Just wasted $10 buying from eBay. There is something wrong with it internally. Draws heat only a few minutes after Wi-Fi and the screen is on. Too much of a hassle to find the rogue app. My V20 mirrors the exact apps on mostly the same updates. No issues. The better solution is to never buy an LG smartphone again. I might keep them around for IR blaster and wide-angle lens but nothing else. Going back to Google Pixels in a year or so.

  • Yup, I'm officially done with LG. My G5 still drains 1% every two minutes even after a restore. Not only for YouTube streaming but even just using MX Player Pro to play a video. I tested four of my rotational phones last night - LG G5 = 1% drain every 2 minutes LG V20 = 1% drain every 4-6 minutes Apple iPhone SE = 1% drain every 8-12 minutes Essential Phone = 1% drain every 8-12 minutes I honestly can't use my G5 for anything except music or a TV remote. The weird thing is that the G5 has longer battery life for tethering. It's better as a Wi-Fi hotspot when the screen is usually off. Now I can't really stand iOS, so another iPhone is a no-go for me unless I truly fall for the new Apple Watch. I guess my route from now on are Pixels but I'll skip this year's because Google needs to change it up next year. The irony that my phones with SEALED battery lasts longer than removable ones. I ordered another G5 battery that comes in by Monday and I don’t expect it will resolve this 1% drain per 2 minutes problem. I don't hate LG. I just won't trust them anymore. All three of my LG phones has given me issues - G3 Beat - Laggy G5 - Smoothest but worst battery life, ghosting V20 - Little laggy,, battery is worse, had ghosting before Quality control just isn't there. Even showed in last year's Pixel 2 XL with all the image retention which was common in LG's 2016 flagships.

  • I've pretty much given up finding out the reason for the battery drain. It could be the faulty hardware or just having 2-year-old batteries. I removed Greenify. The overheat happens just streaming YouTube. This is a phone where many people will eventually HATE it. I'm still part of the other side and do LOVE this phone other than that battery drain. G5 does excel in mostly everything else and never had the GPS issues.

  • My sister thought living with the G5 with image persistance could be okay after a month of usage, but she wrong. Using Night Screen did solved the problem but it caused some lags even launched any low CPU intensive apps like WhatsApp, IG etc. Replacing with new LCD screen might solved the problem but maybe sounds more worthy if I buy my sister a new phone. LG should solve this problems because I'm pretty sure this problem happened due to just by software that could be fix by updates. No wonder why their sales on mobile phones getting lower every single year.

  • re flash your firmeware , look up on xda for more iformation

  • Even after a restore, battery drain is still problem. It happens when I use Wi-Fi and stream YouTube. Will get quite warm near the fingerprint scanner area. I uninstalled Greenify. Since I don't use the Dasher app anymore on my LGs, I got rid of it. That might be a culprit but the not the main one. I hibernate the apps with a double tap gesture from Nova Prime and many apps just keep waking up again. My G5 is still on MM. I don’t hate the G5. It's still one of my favorites. I'm just less confident with LG now. Even my V20 battery in 16 months is getting bad. It goes from 30% to 15% at an instant. Finding OEM batteries is a puzzle. Even if you end up getting one, it was manufactured years ago. This is where Apple trumps their competition. Aftermarket support. I can always go to the Apple Store to get the battery replaced and get my phone within the day. With other brands, you have to mail it and would be without a phone for a few weeks. I don’t like iOS but sometimes we don't have much of a choice. I want my devices to last for years and years (not just 1-2 years) and I want to go to a place to get it fixed withthe hassles of finding Chinese third-party batteries and mailing it to some random place. That's why my next phone could very well be a red iPhone XR. Once those batteries are degraded in your OnePlus 6T or Pixel 3 in 1 to 2 years, it becomes a hassle. Already a hassle with a REMOVABLE battery finding a replacement that can hold a charge as well as your original one.

  • I trying to update my verizon lg g5 using verizon software updater but it always say invalid imei. How to solve this problem ? ( i'm not using verizon sim card )

  • So what’s your problem now cos either way its still updating. Man is never appreciative and content

  • LG5 was bad but not terrible, then i got a notification about an os update and now is complete garbage garbage garbage. I now need to replace the phone but absolutely will NOT BE for an LG phone. LG people. You just got one less person using your phone. I am sure I am not the only person that feels this way.

  • wow love the update. my battery was lasting about 6 hours or less. Ive actually got 2 replacements. Anyhow, with battery saver on with the Oreo update its still going 24 hours later with no recharge

  • hello, i hope someone could help me recently my fingerprint option disappeared from the settings if you know what i can do please tell me...

  • I just received the latest software update for my LG-G5 H831 Android vers 8 on 12 Sept 2018. I am not amused. I no longer have the Fast Charge option nor is it anywhere in settings. On top of that my battery life has been considerably shortened from 10-12 hours down to 3 hours. Again nowhere in settings can this be changed. How do I resolve this short of erasing latest update.?

  • Why we have to use (LG BRIDGE) to make the update Why there is no update via wifi from the phone directly ?? When i check directly it said ..there is no update But with lg bridge there is

  • By program LG Bridge...check for sofware updates

  • Upload (LG bridge) and install it on your PC Then relate you phone to your pc. open LG Bridge programe and check . You will find the update Upload it and it will be installed on your phone automaticaly

  • how did you do this... Please Tell me I have H831 version 6

  • Today i recieve too 8.0.0 2.2GB in Canada H831. Version H83130c. For now a litle bit faster, menues and icons has changed. New menu in the camera too.

  • Hello. Please give us your feedback after few days of update Specialy. Battery life Waiting for you

  • Update - on Sept 10, 2018 my LG G5 H831 got the official Android Oreo 8.0 update. I had to use LG Bridge software to install the update. It is big, 2.2GB update . Working beautifully so far on my LG G5. Great battery life, smooth apps.

  • How old is your phone? Playing Real Racing 3 and Mobile Legends on my sister G5 did some pretty warm but far from hot. Battery is pretty solid too, but could be better.

  • I took a play around with my sister phone LG G5, looks really good! Mostly about the camera, compared with my uncle iPhone 8 non-Plus, looks LG G5 performed better than the iP8, no joke. LG G5 is a clear winner on daylight due to better dynamic range, iP8 looks overblown in high-contrast but both rendered pretty equal detail. On indoor lowlight iP8 just very slightly better detail than LG G5 but very noisy and too much oversaturated. LG G5 has very natural colours lower noise but detail is can't quite match with iP8. By the way, overall LG G5 is still has pretty good camera plus the wide angle lens is one of the kind. Not a bias opinion but I don't think iP8 is not worthy to get 92 scores on DxOMark. If iP8 is worthy with that scores, LG G5 should be the same or little bit higher.

  • Clearing app cache and then rebooting might have solved my battery drain and Wi-Fi/streaming overheat. Who knows? This phone can get hot in the most random times. Problems can happen again the next day. I thought I would love LG forever. I can't believe their unreliability is forcing me to choose an iPhone.

  • I'm officially done with LG. After a day going back to normal, the battery drain came back. I can't figure it out. Only been 11 months since I got it. I could do the fresh restore, but such a hassle to redo all the settings for each app. I would also need to redownload some games because LG Backup can't restore them correctly without Google Play. To add insult, image retention returned. My V20 next to it which matches everything on the G5 doesn't show any since installing sFilter and that was worse. Battery life is also fairly normal. I'm banning LG for good. I'll stick to their TVs, air conditioners, and Blu-ray player instead. Can't believe my iPhone SE is now my 2nd favorite smartphone ever and I can't stand iOS. But the hardware itself is very reliable. Streaming video is efficient with battery life. No image retention. No random overheating like my LGs do. If I needed a battery replacement, easy to go to the Apple Store. Not scour for cheap third-party Chinese batteries. Essential Phone is still my favorite even though I'm still going through my honeymoon phase with it and extremely difficult to repair.

  • Oreo update is good but color of icons cause more screen retention. Thermals are good and set didn't heat too much on power usage. Long press on icon provide quick access to app features. Camera and video player has been changed.

  • Tested my G5 again to check if it was some fluke and it's not. Problem solved. Update MX Player Pro and battery drain (1% every 2 minutes) is gone for good. I actually went back to my original battery. It's more worn out but was manufactured later (Nov 2016). The one I started using two nights ago that came with the free charging cradle was made in March 2016. I looped the same 10-min YouTube again and the more worn out one actually gave me better results. I didn't lose 1% from it. Update apps when you see severe battery drain. 75-25 or 85-25 rule is also beneficial to follow. Since my G5 is now mostly at home, I do the 75-45 rule. I want these batteries to last as long as they could because after two years, you are stuck with Chinese batteries for replacements. The OEM replacements would be as old as the one you have.

  • I figured out my battery drain. I needed to update my MX Player Pro app. So far, it no longer drains 1% every two minutes or less when streaming YouTube. My other three phones will lose 1% every 5 minutes or so. Back to being a great phone for me! I would still put the Essential Phone on top only because obviously it's newer, better build quality, smaller, faster, Pie, and the image retention did return on my G5. Not completely off the hook. I am going to do the 75/25 rule with my battery discharges/charges. That battery drain bothered me all day. Safe mode proved there was a rogue app. MX Player Pro all along just needed to be updated. Essential Phone LG G5 LG V20 Apple iPhone SE I really started to consider getting OnePlus 6T from T-Mobile if I couldn't fix this G5 battery drain with a fresh restore. Next up, good battery charging habits.

  • It's use to be good, but I have enough of waiting for a update to Oreo. Have a camera that doesn't focus and battery is going down fast. For sure, my next phone is not a LG.

  • I'm going to Sony. As of late, I've been loving my Sony PS4 slim more and more since getting Shenmue HD Collection. Only bad Sony product I ever used was the first Sony PS1 1001 model that I had to turn upside down to read discs. The 9001 model, PS2 5001, PSP 1001, PS Vita slim, and PS4 slim have all worked beautifully. LG is a mess. No wonder the G5 flopped. This is my second G5 and only got it less than a year ago. Already giving me problems. I still prefer it over my V20 because the UI is smoother and it's smaller. But it looks to me I may never use the G5 again as my daily driver. It's strange how good it is with tethering (screen off) but SOT is gawd awful. If I typed this message for 5 minutes, I'd lose 3% already. Removable batteries is also kinda overrated. After two years, you will end up with Chinese third-party brands that are mostly crap. My Xiaomi Mi 3 with the original SEALED battery has better battery life than my G5 with SOT and that's over 4-years-old! Surprisingly hasn't swelled up yet. While LG removable batteries become crap after only a year!

  • This G5 is falling off for me among my favorites. It used to be #1. Has fallen to #3 and could go down further. I updated my apps and for the last few days, I'm getting severe battery drain. If I stream YouTube, I lose 1% every two min. I started using the spare battery I never used and the problem still occurs. Then I did safe mode and streaming was back to the normal 1% every 4-5 minutes. I could have a rogue app. I hate having to restore it all again but I just might. I also thought sFilter stopped the ghosting and it returned twice the last 24 hours. Went back using a plain black wallpaper. Becoming worse and worse. My V20 has held up better with battery and I updated the apps the same day. No ghosting returned either although it has a near plain black wallpaper already. It does LAG more while G5 drains faster. I obviously will still keep both around as I use them to control my Samsung TV every day. It seems my iPhone SE is moving up from #4 to #2. And I can't stand iOS but hardware-wise, the iPhone is just more reliable than LG. Battery life is still excellent and it's older. Going to swap it for a new one before the year ends. Problem is I could never use iPhone as a daily driver. Such a reliable device but the software lacks things I need like a great call block app and torrent apps. LG just doesn't seem reliable for either hardware and software. Would never get a Samsung though. Going Sony or OnePlus next.

  • I just receive an update (1.7GB including Android upgrade maybe oreo...) model G5 F700L (Korean variant).

  • This is a very UNPOPULAR opinions but the LG G5 and Essential Phone (which both flopped and panned by critics) are two if my favorite smartphones ever. LG G5 has the best all-around hardware for me. Even moreso than my V20 which is technically a little better. I just prefer the size more and it rarely gets hot like the V20 does often. While Essential Phone with Android Pie is the best software experience I ever had. Its as if Matias Duarte put webOS on Android. 1. LG G5 2. Essential Phone 3. Apple iPhone SE 4. LG V20 5. Xiaomi Mi 3 All four are all great and it's almost difficult for me to separate them. But gut feeling tells me I enjoy G5 and Essential PH-1 the most. I've owned the first iPhone Nexus, Pixel, and only Essential ever. I've owned the HTC One M7, Galaxy Note 3, S7 edge, and several more. I like the underrated, underdog phones. LG G5 and Essential PH-1 are like the Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo GameCube of smartphones.

  • hey i'm using the lg g5 fr about 50 day and what can i say is that the design suck and the battrey suck and the main camera isn't that good but the wide angle is good but guys the prefomance is so good i can run all the playstore games perfectly and it won't slow at all i got the phone without origina accesory for about 150 dollar and i'm satisfied

  • How to used it? could you give more detail?

  • Just use sFillter app. I don't see any more ghosting. Went back using a gray wallpaper and never saw it after a month. You can google search the right settings for the app. I found it in one of the comments from the V20 page on this site. I had problems for both my units and never saw it again for either. I even use NightShift app for scheduling since blue light is unhealthy in the dark. Never seen image retention ever again.

  • Screen retention/persistance or any kind of burn-in alike is pretty sounds normal problems on LG G5. For those who have this problems, I suggest to turn off your G5 and leave it for a few days, so you won't available with your phone for a couple days. It's not 100% effective but it's worth to give it a shot. If it does, it may not eliminate the problems permanently, but it may for a long run.

  • Dont buy Nokia for camera, go for Nikon D70, its focus is best and camera quality is world class.

  • Very Good Phone... Except for Screen Retention.. It's Worst on This.

  • The main camera on G5 is very good and should be better than N7+. Plus, I'm pretty sure you'll appreciate wider-angle camera rather than telephoto lens. G5 has QHD compared to FHD on N7+ so better, sharper goes to G5. I've never used N7+ but I used my little sister G5 just bought few days ago for music playback, no complaints at all. Just good and practically no distortion but decent on volume clarity (when using any headphones or external amplifier). Loudspeaker is good, sounds bassy and pretty loud.

  • lg g5 is still my baby.

  • Of the LG G5 or Nokia 7 plus which is better? Focus: Camera Screen quality Audio

  • I use sFilter PRO and the image retention never returned for BOTH my LG G5 and V20. I can now use that gray wallpaper that matches nicely with my silver G5. Both 2016 LG flagships which were the last flagships to offer removable battery are two of my favorite smartphones of all-time. Even if I never use them again as my main phones, I can use both as my TV remote for many more years...

  • This is for a Rogers LG G5, model LG-H831 in Canada. Pros - great camera, love the wide angle lens. IR blaster , great for changing TVs in bars/clubs/etc. Removable battery. Nice to have option for swapping it out. Cons - Mine developed burn-in fairly quickly . Getting it replaced under warranty with Rogers. Short battery life. Doesn't last nearly as long as other phones that I've had in the past. Still stuck on Android Nougat. Oreo not slated to arrived until October if at all. FM radio not activated on this model.

  • you can try custom rom 😉😉

  • Does anyone here use T-Mobile H830 version? Any news about Oreo update?

  • in day light because at night if we use manual mode g4,g5 ,v10 and v20 has a better sensor

  • My g5 died in the swimming pool so I've bought the g7 TinQ. I prefer my old G5 for the reasons below: - Irda - Wider camera - Removable battery - Size. G7 is too long and falls from my pocket. - And a very important one to me: HDMI output G7 over the G5: - Better screen - Water proof - Sighltly better performance. There is not a big difference in performance. Camera in the g7 is better, but on the g5 you can install Google Cam Mod, and in can't find any mod working on the g7. In my opinion is not worth update from the G5 to the G7

  • I bought G5 for birthday gift to my little sister since she doesn't like bigger phone (I want to buy for her G6 but 5.7 is pretty big), better camera (looks on some camera reviews that G5 has better camera than G6) and she really loves it. By the way, comparing the G5 with my S7 edge and pretty agree that G5 has better camera (comparing 16MP on G5 to 12MP on S7 edge).

  • Only if your phone is non Verizon, if you have the version VS987 it means it's a Verizon model and you can only update via WiFi if you have an active Verizon 4G sim card, if you don't have an active verizon sim card, you can only update via PC in the instructions i gave bellow in the comments.

  • Can i just using wifi to update it ?

  • I have same problem to. Then i Install the screen burn in tool app on play store. It's not a permanent repair but it work's well

  • U bought new or refurbished

  • Amazing phone. My one is lg g5 h830 i.e. t-mobile version. Its been 2 years I bought it. It is still strong and powerful. The only issue which is quite annoying to me is overheating. Easily increases to 38-40C from 30-33C. Other than that everything in one word is spectacular. Antutu benchmark score of the phone is 150000. I am really impressed.

  • You don't need a Verizon Sim to update, you need to run the Verizon upgrade assistant, that software is your own phone, connect the phone to the PC and the phone's USB options choose "Software installation" mode and then a window will open in your PC and will appear a VZW_software exe file... Install it and then disconnect your phone and connect again this time choose USB mode File transfer and then in your computer, look for the VZW Software upgrade assistant in the right side of the taskbar and look for a white rectangular bar icon, that's the VZW Software, double click and just follow the instructions.

  • Can you update the software version of the lflg g5 verizon without using a verizon sim card ? I'm trying to use lg bridge to update it but the lg bridge always says can't connect to the device

  • well it is fine but far from perfect LCD ghosting+ bleeding and annoying Wi-Fi reception some time is behaves fast others really slow but I found that is a 7.0 issue with lg because after struggling taking it back to MM I realized 2 things performance was better overall and Wi-Fi as well but contrast calibration was terrible and screen issues and x2

  • At least this phone actually has a headphone jack

  • But the pricing is the same ya?..cause kinda tight on money

  • Wait for google pixel 3

  • 1. You should factory reset the phone at least once a year 2. 2 yrs with the same battery what were u expecting?

  • I've been using the g5 now for almost 2 years...its not been bad but its not been amazing also...it started to lag now and its becoming really annoying...camera is quite decent but the battery life is just horrible right now...I cant go through 2 hours of usage...should I move on and go ahead with the oneplus 6?

  • Probably you won't see any bootloop on the G5... but, there are others issues on this phone like: GPS malfunction, LCD ghosting, the camera won't focus, battery compartment mechanism will fail, very poor battery life and perhaps poor WiFi - mobile signal.

  • Between H850 and H831 modeles Which one is better ?

  • having issues with G5 whereby the left part of my screen lags badly when am navigating on youtube or even on camera mode. tried to reset my phone but in vain. e.g, when i scroll on any video which is playing and check the comments, only the right part of my screen scroll but the left part get stuck. can anyone know what needs to be done?

  • This phone is very amaizing

  • lg g5 is still my baby.

  • that weir as far as I know Verizon devices are factory unlocked for gsm usage, you should factory reset your phone with sim in.

  • it is really good I have it you wont find anything faster or better for the prize and soon will be updated to 8.0 so for me is a win

  • Is it good deal of LG G5 (korean model) for 100$ used but in 10/10 condition? is there any bootloop issue in this model? if yes then how can i save this? plz any one guide me about this?

  • I bought my phone 1 week ago, and one thing annoys me is it suffered ghosting or some kind of burn screen problem. how to fix it?

  • Buy Verizon Sim card or Unlock the phone.

  • I just bought lg g5 Verizon. if I insert my mtn sim in it, the network doesn't show,it says my sim isn't a Verizon network sim. What should I do

  • Have had my G5 for almost 2 years (it'll be 2 in September). GPS failed after 1. I opened the phone, following the directions from other users on YouTube, and fixed the contacts. That made it work like new again for a few months, but now back to usual. It will strangely only work in coastal areas but not in cities. This failing GPS is a common issue among G5 owners, thus the youtube videos (crazy!). The primary (non-wide) camera sensor started to fail a few months back. I literally have to hit the phone to get it to focus. Fingerprint sensor is good...when it works. Sometimes it is solid for long periods of time. Others? It is erratic or non-functional (non-functional at time of writing). Battery is small (2600 mah). Once you start wearing it down, the battery will barely last. Need to buy new ones frequently.

  • I want to ask is lg g5 verizon version support sd card and can you update the software ota??

  • Hello guys really need help. I bought t-mobile LG g5 and it locked. Tried unlock the phone on Device Unlock but it cant recognized my service provider. Any other ways to unlock? I lived in malaysia.

  • I used my mate G5 under excessive bright sunlight and it has pretty decent bright display. It's not much a big deal but you would thought it could've been better as me as my S7 edge shines better than this one. Keep in your mind that we're living in the same country :-)

  • Have 2 g5's and both power button stoped to work after few months of usage... other than that its a very good phone.

  • Well said man.

  • I lived in malaysia and the price is rm599 so convert to usd is around $150. Rm599 is very good deal but the model is h830 which is from t-mobile carrier but the seller says it compatible with all carrier in my country malaysia. The thing i am very concerned is the display. Gsmarena said it has low screen brightness since i lived in country with under excessive bright sunlight.

  • Best comment ever for the LG G5. It isn't a perfect by any means. I do get some minor image retention. Not a common occurrence as my previous G5 or my V20, but it shows up from time to time. It's been around for two years. I've used one since February 2017. It's still my favorite smartphone I have ever used. Perfect size too. I love my silver G5 RS988! I think the LG G5 and iPhone SE are by far my two favorites from both the Android/iOS platforms. LG G5 has everything I want and iPhone SE still offered headphone jack, metal back, and no hideous notch. For me, 2016 was the last great year for smartphones. I also use an LG V20 and Moto E4. With all four together, I just don't have the urge to buy anymore new phones. I see the Essential for $250 on Amazon and while that's a bargain, I still don't have any real urge to get one. First time in a long time I'm content with my phones that can last me years until they break down. I hate this current era of smartphones.

  • as a mobile tablet I cant fault it. runs ever app without problems, updates are easy and i does not overheat as much as my G3 did However, using it as a phone I am disappointed - it is nowhere as good as the G3. The cell signal pick up is not as good. I have to talk to all callers using speaker phone or head phones as the built in speaker is so very quiet. On my old G3 i could set all my media notifications to silent yet still have call ringing at full volume so I could hear incoming calls - i thought i had the same settings on this G5 but I never hear my phone ring. I cant wait for my contract to be up so I can change this phone for something else

  • Things I love about the fabulous LG G5 The Screen : - it's stunning - always registers touches - very responsive - very accurate / natural colours - beautiful colour contrast - extremely sharp - silky smooth Gorilla Glass 4 - resists smudging well - easy to clean - my only criticism is that it's a bit darker than the LG G4 screen ... but this is vastly outweighed by the gains Industrial design - LG really have nailed it with this one ... its size and dimensions are perfectly proportioned - the rounded edges make holding this phone a joy ... was made for holding - the width is perfect - making the grip comfortable and secure - the thickness is just right - there are too many thin / fly-away phones out there - the density / weight of the phone are fantastic ... it wants to stay planted in the hand Handling - the size, weight and density make it extremely satisfying in the hand - it's beautifully balanced Appearance - The convex curvature at the top of the phone is beautiful - The bezel above the screen is black - and the one below is silver ... so you always know which way up the phone is - It's a very clean front face Buttons - The lock / fingerprint reader on the back is a joy to use - it's recessed and the concavity makes it easy to find and inviting to use ... a triumph, bravo LG ! - The side-mounted volume buttons are nicely weighted - and always but always register presses Cameras - The wide-angle rear camera is a joy - The regular camera takes good quality, natural shots Speaker - moving it from the back (LG G4) to the bottom was a good move - it's nice and loud - and produces satisfying and rich sound UI - all the goodness of Android 7.0 Nougat - LG's skin is light, intuitive and nicely done Performance - slick, snappy and smooth - doesn't struggle for speed - maintains its snappy performance Battery - sterling performance - being replaceable is a bonus rather than a necessity Summary - by a long chalk, the best phone I've ever had the pleasure of using - makes me WANT to use it and find any excuse for doing so - satisfying to hold and behold ... looks good, feels great - it's nice when the design effort invested by a manufacturer translates into such a viscerally satisfying user-experience - by far, the best phone of 2016 - a tour de force by LG

  • yep it's still good. battery life is good, screen looks nice once you install a blue light filter app (1800k at 5%) and forget about it. GPS antenna can be an issue, was on one out of three of the G5s i've owned. Was able to open and fix the poor contact. Wish it could get oreo, meh..

  • Build quality is not the best and battery life is mediocre... but if you can get it for less than 100US dollars the G5 can be a great deal, good performance, decent camera and pretty good screen.

  • I bought one and I'm very impressed. 130,000 on antutu which is much faster than any phone under $100 like the G5 sells for. No phone under $100 has 4gb of ram either. Runs everything you can throw at it. Screen looks amazing.

  • Noo...its only depends on your luck, if find are good one...after 6 m i have screen problem camera problem fingerprint problem..and battery is very disapointed

  • How the phone performs? Camera, battery and display? I want to buy one but the battery seems small and some critics on display which is not very bright and it is not Oled display. Guys is it worth it? Good in 2018?

  • same problem

  • I think you don't take care of ur phones I mean 1 defective phone may happen even it happened to me g4 .. the other is still in my house working fine but g5.... I got 1 and it works just fine I had a minor issue but software related and I fixed it my self already ...... but 3 phones .. you might be purchasing counterfeit / used / user refurbished phones ... you cant have such a bad luck on a brand new hand set 3 times.. ... dismiss

  • what is the brand of the 4050 mah battery?

  • 3 LG G5 phones all 3 are garbage. Dropped calls, power button no longer works, GPS has completely failed and is currently trying to find itself. What a waste! Other issues include the burn screen and the screen freezing. Just to name a few.

  • i can tell this there is something funny about it.... I own rs988 tried to take it from stock that came in box 7.0 to 6.0.1 due to software issues related to sd card writing using game emulators .... when I went to 6.0.1 I got image retention which I never had on 7.0 I was shocked about it ....I think lg did something about refresh rate I guess ... because when I upgraded it again for a bout a week and a half the retention is gone .... I se my phone at 60% brightness level ... even on 6.0.1 used it on 15% and I was still getting retention .. for me the screen is not bad at all but the issue is on the refresh rate controller surely and / or maybe too on color calibration because they are good but not as oversaturated and they were before... and yes rs988 is the best you can gte I have mine with 128 gb external card nothing else I can ask ill stay with it until it die ... because it is easy to fix as well

  • RS988 Get it unlocked. I had the Sprint variant and it showed image retention after three months. It did have FM radio. My RS988 I got 9 months ago from B&H has image retention too but doesn't show as much. My RS988 is still on Marshmallow and it's still my favorite smartphone of all-time. Underrated.

  • The Good: Great modular design. One of the few phones left on the market with a removable battery. The Bad: I have 4x of these phones. 3 were purchased brand new and one was purchased used. The 1st one I had lasted for about a year. In that time, the camera on the back of the phone could no longer focus properly. The GPS completely failed about 2 to 3 months in. The USB-C port on the phone could no longer keep the USB-C cable in correctly to properly provide a fast charging connection. The 2nd one I had lasted for about a year as well. In that time, it exhibited the same issues as the 1st phone with both the GPS failing and USB-C port unable to provide a fast charging connection over time. About 6+ months in, the power button stopped functioning. I was left too power up my phone by holding the volume button. The 3rd phone, is a month old and CONSTANTLY drops calls. The other party is constantly breaking up over the phone. I live in the city, service is 4G with full bars almost everywhere. This shouldn't be a problem but it is. I expect the GPS on this device to fail very soon as well based on my prior experiences. I'm done with LG phones. This phone had great ideas but was done in by poor craftsmanship. There should be no reason why i'm on my 4th LG G5 phone in a little over 2 years.

  • Quiet down, you don't know what you are talking about.

  • This is the best phone that you must have!!! (y)

  • You are liar...its no possible for the same volume double off capacity

  • h850 should be

  • Which model of lg g5 is the best?

  • I've had the LG G5 for about 3 weeks now, and I think that is enough time to really get to know the phone. First off my initial impressions of the build, speed and camera were spectacular. Lightning fast for a 2 year old phone, camera is super detailed and the build just feels right in my opinion. Until I realized how fast the battery started to drain, like each percentage was dropping by the second, like the battery turned into a 100 second timer, you can fix this by using a quick charger but it still drains super fast because of the stock 2800mah battery. This really bummed me out considering the quality of the rest of the phone. I was ready to go back to my previous phone, until I found a 4050mah battery replacement, which made the battery life turn from seconds to a full day of usage. Now that I've replaced it with the new battery I can proudly say it is the best phone ive ever used. You can get this for under $100 on ebay refurbished , I would totally recommend getting that. Just make sure you get the 4050mah battery replacement which can go for around $15 on ebay.

  • Zuk z2 pro

  • try v30+

  • Salam n peace to all. I got G5 about a year now...just amazing phone after v10. But now 4gb ram is less for my usage. I've tried all Huawei P10plus and 5T.. I think only HUAWEI gives all full specs, with SD CARD, INFRARED now adays. If anyone who can tell me which phone with 6GB RAM / 128GB ROM, beats or at-least comes up to level with LG phone cameras? I mean literally exact or above quality of night low light pictures. WHICH PHONE ?? Thanks.

  • hi friends i am using lg g5 f700l korean version for last 10 months works awsome but now when i update to 7.0 nugat , it s camera 16 mp rare out of foucas . mean when you click pics close angle its works great and when you click pics from far away auto foucas not working. now i buy new camera for lg g5 and replace it. and then camera auto foucas working but only for 7 days now back in still out of foucas. any one have problem , plz help to solve it

  • Still my favorite smartphone of all-time.

  • do they ship outside US? and how was the battery? do you use a battery charging kit?

  • Guys, how is the built quality of the lg g5?

  • well guys better wait for official update rather than trying to make a downgrade like the one I did ... was scare about bricking my phone .... flash tool didn't work only program worked for me was LG UP with UPPERCUT reason. well tried to take it from nougat to marshmallow but didn't know that there is a f...g thing about anti roll back lg implemented I think that rather of wasting efforts on stuff like this they should make sure of updating their devices quicker any way .... I could not ... had to use fucking bright point version of nougat in order to fix my phone because had no OS .... well in next couple of days ill try to root and flash a custom 6.0 to see what happens ...

  • I don't know other devices but on g5 rs988 nougat is terrible update no because it is slow or anything like that but for me there might be something with permissions or something messing with reading / writing on external storage, I have a Samsung 128gb card evo select U3 class , I own as well a SanDisk 64gb V30 class as well and none of them work fine when playing games trough emulators such fpse or drastic Ds emulator for some reason while gaming there is a kind of lag that it is not performance related but an annoying lag that occurs some times during the game. worst even I tried to run a test using A1 sd app for test read/write speed and curiously ram was ok internal and external fine but when reading but writing I get 0 MB speed what the ..... after checking permission for the app I found it disabled so I was something that was enabled before .... ill try to gte back to marshmallow technically because when ever I purchased brand new 2 months ago it came with 7.0 so I had to make homework and look for kdz and flashtool.... ill give a try to see what happens .... any body have face something similar will be great help

  • Does manual focussing work?

  • Camera doesn't focus, how to solve it?

  • Llol ur battery is rubbish. Please renew it lol

  • battery life 60 hours???? WTF! the real life is 4 hours LOL

  • Hey chappy ive been using the g5 the way you want too for about 1.5 years it works amazing no loose parts bateries still good for continuous use really impressed dont know why they didnt continue on other models

  • H860. Its still working gud after 2 years of rough use.

  • H860

  • I didn't pickup the 6 batteries on purpose, just that they were included with the used phones. The Losoncoer looks promising though, might buy those if the original batteries start failing.

  • you don't have a single clue about what you are talking about. better processor better efficiency is less effort on completing a task 28nm vs 14nm ..... 652 vs 820 ....... I mean 652 is good but 820 is power efficient .

  • do changing batteries often makes the lower part loose? i plan to use this and buy two batteries then charge the other one while using the other. then change it after it lowbat so that i can use it continuously

  • more efficient by its performance in comparison with 650, but take for sure that 820 will drain battery faster becouse is a lot better procesor.

  • i rather buy a 4350mha losoncoer battery awo

  • thats completly normal, SD card isn't as fast as internal memory, so in demandant emulator as that you will never get the same performance

  • in aliexpress. LG G5 4350mha battery, the good brand is losoncoer

  • Hi, I got an unlocked phone from Canada. It was working with various SIMs there. In India, it isn't working. Says "Network not available".

  • well it runs ok but there is something that im trying to figure out if maybe a 7.0 issue or app issue I have fpse psx one emulator latest version . when playing from sd card it has sound glitches but when playing on internal they run fine my sd is U3 class Samsung 128gb replacing my old sandisk 64gb V30 class and issue was the same of both..... any body with issues on this emulator

  • Just perfect!

  • Hi, i want upgrade my G5 to nougat, is it G5 running well with nougat?

  • Hi guys. I wana purchase lg g5 . Pls suggest me which model of lg g5 should i purchase. Thanking u . Good day

  • recently bought 3 G5's at ~100USD, I put the phone in power saving mode right after full charge, and play games receive calls do basically everything, heat is reduced and the battery life extended. I know not everyone likes to use the phone in power saving mode, but the 820 is a beast even at reduced power. I have 6 batteries now, and should be future proof.

  • Yes , Dual Sim Model Only Support memory card in SIM 2 slot.

  • well yes dual sim used sim 2 space right

  • 2 years here no bootloop.

  • Still using my G5 and no plans to change. The removable battery is so practical. In my work I often have to leave my office, but with removable battery I can have a battery charging in the office while I am out taking care of things. You don't know how nice that is until you try it.

  • but it says 'microSD, up to 400 GB (uses SIM 2 slot) - dual SIM model only' hmm?

  • I know lg has quality issues as all manufactures and I say all because Samsung , apple, and many other have them as well .lg has boot loop on g4 yes but note 7 exploits ,.. yes g2 had touch screen issues but s devices has had pixel lines across screen , yes lg g5 has burn in .. well thats true not mine but it has .... but Samsung has dead pixels.... iphone has bad reception on calls, iphone devices stop working with a no single reason.... why I say this well I used to have an iphone 3gs which just stopped working and gave me a white screen of dead ... nice don't you think....

  • yes you can charge the phone fast as long the charger is quick charge certified , and besides the single sim has a dedicated micro sd card slot I own one of them

  • Power means nothing if the quality build is subpar. All LG devices I had, the most common "feature" is the lower build quality.

  • ok thanks and can i insert a sd card in one sim model? or i need dual ? and can i charge it with another quick charge charger (samsung) but not the original one?

  • iphone s6.... such a tiny phone this for girls .... the device is outdated ...we have 6.6s.7.now the 8 and even the x....... why would you take an ancient device that you cant remove battery ...... on lg you can simply swap it... the camera is miles ahead of that device ...+_

  • how can it be possible that g5 se can last longer than regular g5 as far as I know sd 820 is more efficient than 652. maybe the regular unit you tested had an issue with battery mine works well .... I can say that both devices are good but regular version is twice as powerfull than se

  • don't make me laugh this phone camera is really good

  • this device wont bootloop this issue is related only to sd808 devices and very rare on v20 but I have never ever heard about g5 bootloop unless an idiot try to flash a customer rom and fail on it and post it on youtube

  • Guys i want to buy this phone but im afraid of getting bootloop problem. Is it fixed ?

  • Battery quality and camera quality is very pitiful & poor but another things are okay

  • Thanks and I appreciate it.

  • Does this phone support VoLTE in India

  • Honestly... I would go for the SE, much better quality vs the G5 and longer update support. The battery life of the G5 is pitiful, go for the SE you won't regret it. I know because I had the G5, it worked, but the quality build and battery life is mediocre at best...

  • I face a problem on my lg g5.. the device restart automatically & battery problem

  • LG G5 or iPhone SE? For my brother. My brother likes smaller phone like iPhone SE, it's pocketable. But the dual camera on G5 sounds promising. But some complaint on G5 which has unimpressive battery life and decent screen brightness. Please help, which one is good?

  • First be sure that you have H831 not any other model ..you must check if you have a root then you may have a custom rom but if you havent it you can try pc app named LG BRIDGE you should also install drivers for LG phone...

  • hello i just want to ask about my lg g5 bought few days ago..why cannot update to nougat still running on marshmallow? everytime i check upadate it says already install lates OS..i have the canada version h831.i bought this as 2nd hand. pls help about my problem thanks for your answer

  • European Version (H850) with single sim or dual sim ? and what is the price there now adays in your area ? tell me in USD $ please

  • had phone since release and still works fine apart from some screen retention though easy fixed.

  • I have Andoid 7.0. I hold the European Version (H850). It is the latest software version available. As for the Firmware version, it is running on this version: V20v-EUR-XX

  • You must describe what has happened?

  • jfsantoya Thanks for detailed info , which os in your g5 ? 7.1 or 8.0

  • what will I do if the sim card slot of my LG G5 doesn't open? help me pls

  • What is your model.....are you sure that you on automatic mode

  • I own the G5 since December 2016. It is a really good phone overall. As for the battery, having a 2800mA/h battery it is not THE BEST on battery life, it will go well through the day maybe for the first year or a bit less. It has QuickCharge 3.0, so it will charge really fast, that's a half-way solution. I would recommend you to also buy a backup battery, here's the link on amazon.com: It will let you charge the extra battery on an external charging device. It performs really well on games, powerful processor, I haven't had any freezing issues so far. Apps open fast, multi-tasks like a charm. Speed won't be a problem at all. The display has a great resolution with 554 ppi, the only thing is that I've found out that if you have a still image on relatively high brightness, the image will kinda "burn" into the display for some minutes, then it will disappear. It has some special feature that enhances the brightness when under the sun (will only work if you have the automatic brightness setting on). The camera is GREAT. I LOVE it. It has a 16 MP main sensor, pictures are CRISP and VIVID. It also has a GREAT HDR function, works like a charm, so don't hesitate on taking pictures against the sun. It also has a second main camera, it is an 8 MP, wide-angle sensor. Really convenient when you want to take a picture of a big object that's close to you, it also great for making photos of buildings and so, love it too. The front-facing camera is another 8 MP sensor, I personally like it, it's maybe not the best, but it is for me. I hope that helps! Here for any questions!

  • My LG G5 rear 16 MP camera is out of focus. How can I solve this? Can I replace this with a new camera? or anyone other suggestion will be appreciated.

  • Hi guys I want to buy LG G5 H830 T-Mobile please suggest me how is this phone performance ? Camera Battery Hanging Charging Display

  • I bought my phone less than a year ago. It is already defective. My phone turns off by itself with a fresh battery, apps don't work correctly, speakers distort and some calls and texts never appear on my phone. I spoke with customer service and even upper management isn't willing to send me a replacement refurbished phone to keep me happy as a customer. I spoke with a friend who has had the same issue with the G5. I know this is a manufacturer defect. I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service. This is my second LG phone and was happy with the product until this issue. I'll never buy anything LG again. The replacement phones are refurbished anyways and I don't see why it's such a big issue to try and keep a loyal customer happy and just refurbish my phone to give to another customer.

  • Hi, where can I buy that and how? Pls giv me any online purchase link

  • If is fast on sim data then the problem is not on your phone's wifi....you can try to change router password for wifi to be sure that no stolen or heavy use on your router wifi then try it.....

  • is there some one having issues with Wi-Fi.... my internet isn't faster on planet earth but 20mb should be good for 1080p streaming .. this device behaves wear when using chrome or YouTube you may think that your modem is the issue but no I have a g4 on marshmallow and it runs faster..... any one with this issue /---- im on nougat 7.0

  • Not a good phone, feels cheap and overheats like crazy.

  • Poor Phone. Just one year and Phone has gone dead, failing to turn on. Problem with power button before one year. Poor battery performance. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

  • LG is not know for their quality... good thing LG phones are affordable and flagships phones become cheaper in shorter time but don't expect to last too much time and even worst about the updates and they usually abandon support of their flagship phone faster than other brands like Samsung.

  • recommended good phone no issues for now waiting for oreo update

  • Quality not on a higest level, after one year I replace main board, battery and connector for charging. Display also not ok, I used it with blue filter active, service not change it, must claim again this to service.

  • i want to buy this one.But i need suggestions . is it good. Is it works well for two years.?

  • i would say yes, but i don't know WHERE you buy them. i always think is better to buy used ones in mint condition

  • This still a great phone on 2018. One of a kind phone, tremendous performance, great screen, and wonderful cameras. Battery life is short, buy charge time is incredibly fast with fastcharger so no big deal, also you can buy those 4350mAh batteries from china that are same size and form factor than genuine

  • I want to buy a manufactured refurbished LG G5... should I buy or not?

  • lg g5, its one the best released phone on the market

  • Same problem i faced today after one year and a half, the mobile still heating all the day with draining the battery to fast... what a shame LG....

  • Sorry H868 is LG G5..... It should given you update automatic

  • H868 is not LG G5

  • Can i update my lg g5 h868 in india.currently version 6.0 and i want to 7.0 update its available. Anybody help me plz

  • Android version oreo is not released for LG G5.

  • It has confirmed H830 will get a new Oreo update

  • any update about oreo 8.0 for g5 I hope it is not the same fate as lg g4 died with 1 mayor update

  • LG G5 is best phone, Purchased on 2018/Apr now its working awesome.

  • i have an lg g5 rs988 the phone came with 7.0 preloaded had no chance to test it on 6.0 but for some reason when playing fpse ( ps one emulator ). having the bin or isos on sd card some times it freeze for less than a second and then continues running fine and after a while do it again. my sd card is fine for speed it is a u3 v30 standard and was ok on android 6.0 on my previous lg g4. has any one experienced an issue like this with the particular emulator .....

  • My lgh850 is almost 2 years old. Yes battery don't last ( 5 To 6 hours). Speaker sound is starting to be not as good. This about the only 2 negatives about my lg g5 if they are. Because l can recharge my phone in just over a minute and at change speaker on the same time. New battery and chin bottom et voilà! No other phone can do it. I never ran out of power or look for a plug even on long flight. The phone almost look like new even i drop it more time i can remember. Glassy phone cannot say the same thing. It never freeze or fail on me. Just need a bit of maintenance (smart clean, delete unwanted filed, transfert photos,do backup, etc...). Phone quality: unlockable bootloader (will do after oreo) , fast, good screen, tough, can open phone from screen if sit on table), good photos, superb sound, and many more. Conclusion: this phone will still be good for many years to go. Pieces are easy to change (no glue) this include : battery, speaker, power button, camera, screen, black plate,etc... All this by yourself ( cheap labour). IS THIS ENOUGH TO CONVINCE YOU LG G5 (H850) IS STILL THE TOP PHONE. forgot to tell you i'm canadian and paid 35% less during Brexit. What a steal!

  • I love my G5. It is fast, good camera, video, etc....the battery might not be the best but it is still manageable. If I traval, then I bring my portable battery pack with me, no problem.

  • If you are planning to upgrade your phone , i hope you could give it to me. 😀 I will be happy and i will take care of it. This is my dream phone. Thank you and God bless.

  • Still LG G5 is my darling, very worth buying phone, 555 PPI screen, removable battery, IR blaster, NFC, Super dual cameras, speaker is very clear and boom, I love LG G5. Battery may 2800mah but I can swipe when required(experienced at utmost important time) thanks LG, I REALY FEEL THAT THE PEOPLE ARE DONKY HEADED WHO REFUSE OR REJECT LG G5,

  • Bootloop on the G5 is not as common like the G4, but there are another issues with this phone like the screen ghost on the LCD, GPS losing signal, the autofocus on the camera stop working and lower quality build like the battery holder lock failing off.

  • Build quality questionable. Audio jack stopped working after 16 months. The lock for battery holder became loose after about 18 months (it means you are loosing the microphone unexpectedly during conversation). The additional attachment: camera controler with an additional battery stopped working after 1 yr. Otherwise, the unit is/was performing well.

  • Lg G5 is one of the best smartphones which is forgotten, the only drawback is battery, otherwise it is still a beast.

  • Please does lg g5 have bootloop issue??any one here??

  • Bending the pins on the G5 won't fix the GPS, those pins are related to other functions not the GPS. You need to use a small copper wire to make contact between the back cover of the G5 and the GPS antenna.

  • 3rd April 2018, the best phone Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) ever and can easily beat the G6. Best video recording in low light thanks to its 16M. Yes the battery is not that good if you buy a second hand like i did but will last half day for daily usage without gaming on a single charge. 0-100% in 1 hour! the GPS is easily fix by lifting the "pins" connector up a little bit for better contact.

  • march 2018 great phone best quality video 60 fps

  • Have my G5 for almost 2 years and the most honest complaint I can have is the very very poor battery. After its 1st year it dies at 15%. Bought a spare one and the portable charger. Apart from it, I'm extremely happy with its performance. Upgrading soon, but I'm afraid I'll abandon LG this time.

  • good phone for me..

  • Which version of the g5 you are having the retention issues with

  • This is not helpful you guys say LG is horrible well try Samsung anything nothing but problems. and really bad battery issues

  • Yes, it is an issue. But easily "solvable" by using Blue Light Filter.

  • Ghost screen issue.. Really waste of money.. My second lg g5 due to screen ghosting.. In few days same issue occured

  • LG G5 Battery Replacement Extended High Capacity 4350mAh is recommended any one ??? is that ok to use? any issues occurred when using it ?

  • Hi! I'm from Canada. Bought lgh850 from UK during brexit( 30% cheaper). Best phone i never had. I'm comparing new phone with it and nothing temped me to change it. Reason: size, removable battery, speed, screen and bootloader unlockable witch after lg do not support it, i will be able to update it with custom rom. I' m not ready to switch to non-removable battery phone yet. On top of all this, lg g5 is very easy to repair. Can be done yourself. News phones with non-removable batttery and waterproof are to glued and sealed make them to expensive to be fix. Ha! Finally, i never had in 19 months any problems with my lg g5 h850. Thanks Ti-Gris

  • Had the LG G5 for approximately 1 year. Trouble with black screen tha twould not wake, then battery dump (50% to 0 in a few minutes), trouble reviving phone when switching batteries - after first couple of months. Eventually tried to fix power button as recommended which ruined the phone completely. I would NOT recommend this phone.

  • Oreo?????

  • It has confirmed H830 will get a new Oreo update

  • I have been used lg g5 for 1year now.And i am facing some problem.Like::: 1.youtube video/movies (i mean long videos like 1-2 hrs) lagging after 3 secs. 2.phone also lagging after a long used without restart. 3.Battery draining is the main problem.if i take a video (about 5mins 4k/2k resolution) it drain soo fast that i can't used it in a long tour.100% to 60% in auto brightness and in daylight and full brightness it down to 40/50%.and if i take some pictures with that it down to 20/30%. Soo can anyone help me by solve this problem???

  • Its responsibility on you only

  • Hi I think its impossible but i want to ask you : ) I have h830 version and i want to use dual sim i ask if there is any solution thanks

  • how i can change résolution to 1080 ?

  • I've had my G 5 for 3 weeks now, after the 1st week I lost all my contact phone #'s. Not the contacts, just their #'s. Verizon couldn't understand why. So they default it back to factory & I put all the # back in. That lasted 2 weeks, today after work I will b going back to verizon.

  • Options/applications/ then you will find list of all your apps select one by one you will find disable icon inside it ..thats all....

  • How can i disable those apps?

  • I dont think so......but you can disable these apps and hide it....it will disappear and go away from your ram

  • I got a korean version of G5 F700L, but with many korea software which can't be uninstalled, is it possible i flash my g5 to international rom like H858N?

  • the phone is problematic, lg support is horrible, i sent the phone to repair 4 times they couldnt repair it properly , its been a year i am dealing with lg and the only answer i get is send the phone again. they do not care at all. i will never ever buy a lg phone again. worst customer service very disappointing. they will wait until you get enough and stop bothering them but they will not resolve your issue. they will wait until your warranty is up and then ask you to pay again. i did not fully enjoy the phone and it was co stantly on repair. stay away from this company they deserve to disappear and stop behaving like monopolists.

  • Just after the warranty expired, the back camera stopped focusing properly and it stopped fast charging properly. Phone is also extremely vulnerable to water. Was talking to someone who killed it because they were moving boxes and sweat got through the fingerprint sensor. I liked the phone a lot until just after the warranty when everything started failing.

  • Have you drop it?

  • Don't buy this g5 it has a rear camera focus problem

  • Thats actually your leds being stuck theres a app or videos you can watch that cycle through red green etc it basically unsticks your leds. And ive only had it happen on apps where i have the brightness maxed out and its a app that doesnt move often like old plasma tvs had a problem with street fighters health bars

  • Best phone i have ever owned my first phone was a flip phone then i went to a iPhone 4 huge upgrade btw. Then i started getting into technology alot and realized the iPhone can only be as smart as they make it so i jumed ship to android and it was some cheap plastic screen phone but it was as quick as my 4 and did way more then i upgraded to the lg g2 and fell in love with the design. Eventually i got the g4 buyer beware it blows. But then i got the g5 as a last attempt from lg and it blew me away the finger print scanner is in the best spot ever my finger always hits it even when i don't mean to. I dont like how they moved the volume buttons to the side i think for listening to music it made it easier to change volumes if the phone was in your pocket. Moving on the camera is great but nothing to write home about.. The screen is great again not the best but you arent spending a huge amount of money on the phone (i paid about $250 at amazon) the back camera glass is very fragile atleast for me before i got a good case i cracked the glass twice. Somewhat easy diy fix. The thing that makes the phone shine isnt the mods but the removable battery i cant tell you how valuable this is even if you don't battery swap so your phone instantly has 100% plus you can get a new battery when yours gets to old and if your charger port or speakers break or get stuff in them $20 later you have a brand new bottom clip/speakers/charger port. Again buyer beware some clips may or may not work i believe it depends on your model #. Overall i think this android phone beats every iPhone made and 99% of Android phones out there and for the price you'd almost be ignorant to at least try it.

  • The G5 has one MASSIVE flaw that makes every other feature on this phone moot in my opinion. It is nearly impossible to answer incoming calls! When the phone displays an incoming call, pressing, pressing and holding, swiping, whatever, has no effect and it's a hit or miss if you'll be able to get the phone to pick up before it goes to voicemail. This is a HUGE flaw by LG andan unforgivable one regardless of any other features this phone has. I have seen this unable to answer phone issue on 3 separate G5's so I know it wasn't just my particular device.

  • Bought this phone used for cheap, I chose this phone for the big ram and the removable battery. However, this LG G5 really has its issue with the screen, especially the image retention issue that is pretty common with LG phones. I noticed it from the first day of using it and I guessed I have to live up with that till I have money to purchase another phone (Not LG obviously).

  • Celebrate your battery... How ?.......when reach 15% and poweroff put it on charger only to wake then plug out the socket and use it until it power off it may poweroff on 10% for examble then repeat that until it go 1% then put it on chatger to reatch 100% .........thats celebration

  • Try a different box to plug in your phone i had the same issu and i try a different box to plug it and its fine

  • Nice phone but LCD screen smaller than previous G3 model. Love the microCard slot but the removable battery is hard to replace. Charging takes a long time.

  • When am in 20 % 15 % the phone stops when i put in the charge it begins to charge from 15 % Its like the 15 % is zero for the lgg5 I dont know the pb comes from the batterie or from the cabel cause its not original Thanks for your advice

  • I have bought this phone used for 140€ and the owner told me that it doesn't have any issues. When I turned it on I also didn't notice anything.. One week ago I've noticed massive screen burn-in (retention / ghosting) and a bit crackling big speaker. Another issue was blurry pictures, which was fixed by changing camera foil. I am still in love with this phone, but I am thinking about ordering spare display and "battery" hatch because of the speaker, every day.

  • LG Canada Twitter said, on March 2 - 9 the Oreo comes to G6, they didn't say about any date for G5, but didn't deny... So possible yes, possible no

  • This is the best phone I have ever had. I bought most of the Lg G5 friends from when they came out and all of them are working will. The only problem that I would mention is the expensive cost as all of this cost me £750

  • I have this phone for two Years now and it runs faster and smoother than my s7 edge and my iPhone7 and it doesn't freeze like my s8 plus.

  • Please, don't make of your problems the most users problems. Show statistics to ppl. I believe most ppl satisfied with this good phone. Any phone makers have quality issues with there's products. This phone is underestimated for sure. From my user experience this phone has just three minor downsides. Battery life could be better, no wireless charging and no water resistance. The rest is AAA. Works like Swiss watch. Looks like Porsche.

  • What region is your phone from? Is it via ota??

  • I recieve update v20c-jan-19-2018 244mb

  • Change battery and try again.

  • I think

  • Will LG G5 get oreo

  • Will the LG G5 T-Mobile version get the January 2018 security patch.

  • the sd card on my phone disconnect, the reconnect after hours or when I restart the phone. do you think that the issue is with the phone or the card is dying slowly?

  • Does LG G5 & G6 Support Phase detection like DSLR and Note 8?

  • my lg g5 cant charge. still remain @ 0% no matter how long i charged it......any help will be appreciated, thanx

  • Delete your fingerprint and repeat it through scanning you must put your finger on alot postions dont fix your postion to be easy to open your mobile

  • The Finger print of my LG G5 was't recognizing the my finger print and am finding it difficult to operate the phone.

  • Logically Yes. But i am not sure

  • I have lg G5 sprint. But i cant use my sim card.(invalid sim ).how can unlock this phone.please help me.

  • Is Oreo coming for G5??

  • Bootloop is least of your worries. More users get burn in, gps and Bluetooth issues, light bleed, battery clips loose and battery drain more than that. Enough with boot loop. It may happen but rare and not as big issue that was with SD 808. G⁴, v20 and nexus 5s.

  • I am an LG phone user. I love LG's. I am using LG5 for almost a two years now. I am very satisfied with the features. no problem so far. I am up for upgrade pretty soon. I will get Iphone 7s plus or X. although I love LG's . its about time to try different phone.

  • Lg G5 is a phone with many great features but has turned out to be my biggest disappointment. Most of their products have screen ghosting (burn in) and a faulty GPS is also experienced by many users around the world. My battery percentage won't go up when i charge the phone and use it at the same time and this is a factory defect beside the screen burn in.

  • Brother, I am using G5 for the last 4 months and very very satisfied. Most amazing thing in G5 is its wide angle camera, you won't find any better than this in such price, I researched alot before buying it. Leave iphone, S8 and oneplus aside, the only thing come close to G5 is moto z force. I checked the antutu of almost every set and find it crazy fast.

  • .no boot loop

  • yes g5 has this problem

  • Do lg g5 have problems of boot loop or any other???? I want to buy this phone so kindly guide me any problem plz urgent

  • Hello everyone is there any difference between the both rear and selfie camera G5 and G5se in specs 820 and 652 & 3gb so is G5se really use the same G5 camera sensors?? in htc m8 and htc m8s the selfie camera were less field in few and worse and they wrote same specs in both... so only who tested G5 and G5se to answer me and thank you.

  • Thanks for your helpful reply

  • G5 is better if it is ok from issuses be sure that your GPS work and no problems on it you will satisfied by it

  • Used the phone for few months. Worst phone from lg. Paint chips from the side n corners. Screen cracked easily. Battery sucks. Audio quality sucks. Im a happy v30 user now.

  • ** I'M not a LG user

  • Guys, I'm confused about LG Q6 , LG g5 or go with Sony xperia X compact. Thank all

  • Aftet one Year phone start image retention, over heating and battery drain, Android OS keep awake all the time. GPS every 5min. lose signal. Phone have 2 Year warranty so I will bring it to service. Before this phone no other problems.

  • Why LG Phone company do not recognize the problem of boot reset. Dont they see that this will fall down on the market

  • Yeah, it was great right up until it failed... Out of warranty so it didn't matter anyway...

  • When? Show me? I searched for a fix and anything I found did not work. Hard reset, pulling the battery, connecting it to the computer to get into the os that way... nothing worked.

  • Until it doesn't. Mine was fine right up until it started bootlooping... I didn't believe all the naysayers either, until it happened to me. It's only a matter of time. Mine was just over a year and a half old.

  • Interestingly, notebookcheck shows brightness goes up to 774 cd/m2 and black levels of 0.43. My verizon version was probably around the 380 posted on the review here, but they would've reviewed H850.

  • My lg g5 working fine..your lg is a fake

  • I was given this phone as a replacement to my 4th bootlooping G4, and I was alright with it for a while, until some issues started cropping up. Then I discovered I was not alone: -Inconsistent battery life (2.5 hours SOT at best) -Screen burn in -Non-working GPS Yeah, never buying another LG product.

  • Lg stand behind products. Great phone & excellent value. This phone was ahead of its time and still is. Great great phon

  • What are you talking about? They fixed this issue easily.

  • Do you know when it wil get oreo update on G5?

  • My garbage, terrible battery life lg g5 was working decently up until the moment it bootlooped a year and half into it's life. No warning at all. Charged it, restarted it, bootloop... Thanks for a piece of $#!t, lg... Never again. Went back to Samsung with the s8 because at least they have build quality and battery life. The s8 only has 200 mah more but lasts twice as long as the garbage g5. 3.5 hours screen on time with garbage g5, over 7 hours sot with the s8. Also I have a cracked screen Sammy Note 2 that still works fine five years later.

  • No bootloop. No gps problem. No Bluetooth problem. Battery life is good then after one year had to replace battery. Lg mods are not worth buying. Great phone but definitely get a proper case if worries about getting wet. All cameras are amazing but night time video is not so great. Biggest two problems for me: lightbleed and image retention. When watching videos with black bars I could definitely see light leaking in from 2 corners. Image retention solved with night filter app but from minimal filter but over time I had to increase to the point where screen is too dim and too red. Is okay for me for normal use but when I watch video and increase brightness red tint is too noticeable. Great phone if you do not have problems with screen. But I highly recommend having at least 2 batteries. I probably connected to charger less than 10 times in 14minths with phone. There is nothing more satisfying that having a fully charged battery in less than a minute when you have to run out the door. Good luck!

  • No bootloop at all ... But may be you found GPS failure it is not hard to fix it by your self if your check is not good .. I consider g5 is very good and very fast and GPS after fix very fast and stable you can search how to solve it on internet

  • I want to buy this phone. Please guide whether this phone faces bootloop or not. I am going to buy H850

  • i thank the lg you bougth id fske thats why you encountered that issues..i own lg g5..this phone is the best than samsung..

  • I knew LG made poor quality devices but this really takes the cake. Everything from screen burn in issues, to annoying and useless functionalities, brittle screen (shattered the screen after dropping it on sand) and the sporadic freezes that are unfixable. I have gone through two G5s in less than a year and am ready to change phones again. DONT BUY THIS PHONE!!!

  • I am suggesting all people that dont buy this phone from entrusted sites, you may cheated or may get tampered phone, so you go by trusted online sites like amazon, flipkart, snapdeal etc . Half of the comments are negative regarding this model because those people got the phone from entrusted sites. I have LG G5 working very perfectly since 8 months, no any problem because of only purchased from authorized dealer.

  • Oh no no no, i think you got the fake LG G5 for sure, you bought in the sidewalks..

  • Forgot to mention, this is the LG-H831 . the other 3 i had before they got replaced were the same model and they had issues with the touch screen, with the actual screen in which it would show red lines, battery issues, camera issues, and poor sound quality when connected to headphones ( headphones tested on other devices with no issues). Also this phone that i currently have suffers from major screen burning as well just like the G3 is known for.

  • After replacing the device 3 times because all 3 times it had issues out of the box, after a year and a half of usage, the battery is giving up and so does the connectivity on this phone where it loses connectivity and requires a reboot. At the same time it likes to overheat to the point which is not comfortable to hold in your hands. So to my 4th LG G5 i'm soon going to say goodbye and go to a whole different brand. I mean 4 broken devices is unacceptable.

  • Which model you are?

  • This phone has major issues with its power and its connectivity - both fundamental features. The phone repeatedly shuts itself down before the power is anywhere near depleted. It also abruptly drops wifi and mobile networks at the time, requiring phone restart. These issues typically arise just after the expiry of the one year warranty issue. LG's solution: Pay them $150 to look at the phone. So disabuse yourself of any thought that LG Canada offers good customer care and do yourself a favour and DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. There is also no reason to think that these issues don't remain in later G models also.

  • Decent phone for the price. Nice that it has removable battery and IR blaster. Mine is from Rogers in Canada. Model LG-H831. Running older Android Nougat 7.0 w/ March 1, 2017 Android security patch level. Battery doesn't last tremendously long but has quick charging and USB C. Hoping it'll get Android Oreo update soon but no guarantee that'll happen.

  • Hw model?

  • Nice large display but battery must be charged/changed almost every few hours. Phone gets warm to hot when charging. Hard to use Memory Card to hold apps; only seems to hold photos and music. Older G3 model has larger screen and the back slides off easily.

  • It is a virus it has installed at you you must go app store to uninstall it because it hide it self

  • Hi all lg g5 fans do u know why i cant install tubemate at my G5 phone??i try msny slso cant csn snybody gibe a solution to settle it...tq

  • I've had issue with screen retention for the longest time and the blue light filter was not working anymore and having issue with slow charring as well so I've decided to send it away for warranty in MemoXpress where I purchased it here in the Philippines and they've replaced the screen and the charging port (if that's what you call it). So far been using it for a week now and all seems to be perfect. :) (fingers crossed)

  • Any one can tel me when oreo update come

  • This is the fix for gps

  • H850 is the best other version like at&t has not radio, the remote control has less devices and the os has less options

  • This phone look great in paper but is having a lot of issue and poor quality. My wide angle screen is crack from a normal drop and was with case on. The GPS doesn't work time to time and sometime a big delay make it unreliable on navigation. The camera focus is having issue focus now but if work it does produce good image especially on close up and flash is strong,

  • I cant say what is the best version but you must sure that gps work good

  • Be sure that is your gos is work good

  • Looking to buy this phone used, whats the best version to look for, and what should i look for when buying?? Thanks in advance

  • Does it matter what version it is, and if it does wat isvthe best version... im going to go look at the us992 version, what should i look for to make sure everything is good on it??? Thanks in advance 😊✌

  • You just had a bad phone. Doubt it was that way before you dropped it. Excellent phone!!

  • I have had LG5 over 1 year and work really fine

  • junk phone. The camera is piece of crap. Not working at all. Being fixed one time (parts change) and 1 month later same problem camera is useless. Battery not terrible. LG phones sucks

  • Any current Verizon phone will never ask for any unlock code... Because VZN phones are already unlocked.

  • Check your imei ...test if you have an original firmware for the device

  • Yes it's working on Android 7.0 nougat , i tried all setting to save data & my g5 suffering from network dropping issue also I got it from online ebay india in cheap price , What is the solution for my g5 problems? Shall i replace my g5 or shall i get refund and buy new indian version ?

  • You must change play store setting to restrict updates on sim data to be on wifi only....dont try to update your firmware by sim data that will eat all your money ... The battery use it until phont shut down by itself then charge it to fully 100% ...you mut be on latest firmware update .....

  • I Bought Today New LG G5 H830 (Imported) & I Guess Its T-Mobile Locked No Indian Sim Working On And G5 Eating Up Too Mucu Data , Eating 1Gb Data With In 30 minutes Battery Draining Too Fast Can You Plz Help Me To Solve From All This Problems??

  • What is your model?

  • Word cell phone I ever had. Not even a year and everything is fucked up. I have dead pixels on my screen. Power button is Not working anymore. The screen keep burning(it is like I See the show of the Windows I close on the screen). The phone keep losing the sim card. I have to restart it 2 at 3 times à Day. My gf have the same phone... Same problems

  • I bought secondhand G5 today for 169$. It's the Verizon VS987. It's on it way to me and i'm afraid that it requires unlock code every time i do a hard reset. The phone is unlocked version though.

  • I used an app called Blue Light Filter. I had it at 5% which tinted the screen a tiny bit red. Not noticeable. If iwanted to view movies or photos I would disable. But now after 14months with the phone I have to use at 9% Its too red. I can't stand it. So I honestly think always on display is a major reason for this. Unlike Samsung, G5 has to light up whole screen to use always on. So I bought a S8+ for cheap and although it is gorgeous I really really really miss the ability to change out the battery. 0 to 100% in less than a minute. I love my G5 so im going to keep G5 as backup and try other apps to deal with the screen retention issue. Good luck.

  • I am h860 v20i i think it has solved 100%

  • What version do you mean? Software or the phone model? Software I run the lastest Oct 2017 patch. Handset model H-850 (Europe version). Regarding the screen burn issue, I too had it and software did the trick for most of the part (so I said 'metigate' & not 'solve'). You should hide navigation buttons for all apps and use the screen filter app. It helps. As my phone was in warranty, I opted for screen replacement later.

  • Which version you are ?.....this had been solved by software

  • Download screen filter app from haxor industry & set the filter to 88%. You can then metigate the screen burn in issue. Also there are apps which remove the burn in by making an array of colors run for sometime. If you want a permanent solution, then ask for screen replacement. But Screen Filter set to 88% should work fine.

  • Hello LG G5 users, Few hours back I got an update (Oct patch) of 65 MB in Germany after which all sounds stopped working. Tones, loudspeaker, etc all shut. Anyone having a similar problem? if yes kindly let me know.

  • Any one know how to fix LG G5 screen burn in/ shadow issues?

  • ive had a problem with the gps in this phone since i bought it. its been a year of trying to fix it, and my 1 year manufacture warranty is almost up. the problem still isnt fixed. avoid this phone unless you hate yourself!

  • I wouldn´t recommend it. It has problems with the GPS, some times overheats without a reason, some versions can´t be rooted.

  • But it show alot of stallites .. If there is a bad contact it will appear no satellite...thats rights or wrong?

  • I got mine July of 2016 and its still going however I had to do 2 hardware repairs, one for the charge port (stopped working and couldn't boot phone), one for the power button (stopped registering), and one mod for the GPS. All LG G series phones I have seen have an issue with GPS. I repair phones for a job so stuff like that is nothing to fix. However this phone apart from those issues is extremely fast still and love it. Its why I fixed the issues, I have 3 phones but my G5 is still my go to phone and one of them is the new Samsung A5

  • There is a way to fix that I have done it, I still use my G5 and have had it for over a year now. I had to fix it recently because it broke down but when it was down I didn't realise how good or fast it was until I had to use my iPhone 6 lol however it does have issues still that have been there since day one, like GPS (fixed), Screen Burn-in issues, over heating, and power button wouldn't register (fixed). I'm a cell phone tech so its easy to fix issues like these. The GPS is a simple fix, it involves you taking your phone apart though, there is a video on YouTube on how to do it. Its just 3 pins on the motherboard that need to be lifted to connect with the flex connectors that are attached to the frame. Look up a video to do it, use that video at your own risk though and it does void warranty.

  • after more than 7 month of use this device began lose its power button, not recommend if u swap the battery very often because of that i need to press power button really hard to turn it on

  • I want to buy LG G5. tell me about its speed n sensor. it will give the same performance in 2018 ? or kindly tell me anyother mobile phone in range of 20000Rs/- pkr

  • You can get another battery pack. This is very very helpful at the time of traveling. Double the battery use by using same.

  • Very good

  • I bought my lg g5 before 8 months ago. I realy really love my lg g5. Camera is world's best.wide angle is so helpfull to me for taking wide photos. People are overestimating to samsung and iphone. Bt this phone got removable battery,IR blaster, WA Camera, Good screen resolution, good price. People are stupid who rejected this phone.

  • what about the battery used of this phone? and which should i buy c5 pro or lg g5?

  • at about 200USD now, it is a good deal

  • My set F700L running on Nougat.. Battery drain fast, how to overcome?

  • right now this phone is at $200 (USD). I consider it is a very good deal... what do you guys think? Is even cheaper than Xiaomi mi a1 or others with similar specs but better camera. Except it is from last year and I guess its last updated was android 6.0 am I right?

  • Noooo. G5 heats up when I watch youtube.

  • G5 is better on all terms excpt gps it is weak

  • Hi guys. Need your opinion about this phone. Im planing to buy this phone over Galaxy A5 2017. Is it worth it?, or are there better worthy phones I should go for !!!

  • Is LG G5 suffers from boot-loop issue like its predecessors?? and how about the cameras, are they still best on 2017?

  • Please dont put your g5 on tight pockets. My g5 suffered screen burn after i putted it in my pocket.

  • Battery very good . you will be satisfied

  • Kindly tale which lg model version u used? And battery back good or bad in nougat update?any battery draining problem?

  • Maybe in your sweetest dream.

  • Try using LG Bridge on PC to update to Nougat. I am really satisfiet with update because now it has FHD 60fps and the performance is better i even testet antutu benchmark before and after. Before update i had 128k result and after update i got 150K

  • Anyone having Bootloop issue with lg g5???

  • Where is Radio FM in the korean version? I have LG-F700K

  • No problem with the battery under moderate use last all day. With quick charger it recovers quickly.

  • Are you h860

  • I like the G5 but im a little upset because there is still no android 7 update in the baltic region. I have searched from google and from the update time line its not coming to the north europe. I will be getting the LG G6 sometime next year so i think my G5 have served me well. But i still want the newest android and i am not getting the perfect expirence with the G5. I hope the G6 will be my all time favorite LG that i have owned. If someone is planning on buying the G5 i reccomend to just wait for the G7 or buy the G6 because im not super happy about the G5.

  • I am on h860 but no problem as this !!

  • My LG g5 h860n dual SIM 32gb but his show 16gb memory how to fix this problem.

  • I have G5 already 1year, with first batery I had problems after maybe 5months, but it may be because I am hardcore user - charging phone at last once per day, also in winter was holding phone in bag outside pocket so it a bit gets cold. So, about problems. It started to make something similar to boot loops when battery was about 30%, after I charged it to 100% again it worked fine till about 15-30%, but this boot loop problem was periodic, it appear each day several times and then stopt for one week, then again started. Then I ordered 2 more bateries and since I use them already for about 4 months, everything is fine, except one battery which I probably used more, when it dry out to 10-15% and if wifi is on, screen is on 100% and I am gaming, then it could just turn off imediatly at 15% without warning.

  • They were lying to get you to buy something better. For them.

  • I'm using more then 5 months LG G5. I think its a great mobile for me. No hidden problem, no battery draining. I wanna say in a word, it's an awesome mobile in all performance.

  • No problems at all about battery its amazing

  • Hi, I am considering the G5. When I went to koodo today the guy told me they won't sell them because of battery problems...but every other place still have them available. So my question is..is anyone having problems with the battery? Thanks

  • Use sim adapter. You can use two sim and memory card as i am using it since two months.

  • By default, the G5 is prone to GPS failure, but it's an easy fix, i solve it by putting a bare cable between the GPS antenna and the contact on the phone chasis, that was a month ago i did it and the GPS is still working great.

  • Really great phone overall. If you have the GPS issue it is an easy fix if you're handy, takes 10 minutes, a plastic card and a screwdriver. Otherwise take it to your local phone shop, this is a very easy phone to repair, all parts are modular and easily replaceable (and cheap). Just as good as an S7 for half the money and you can fix it yourself.

  • And about GPS. Is it working fine?

  • Bought a second one but is the RS988 variant. Still my favorite smartphone of all-time. I lost FM radio though but I couldn't care less since my V20 has it. This Lucky Goldstar phone could also be lucky for me. I was able to get $200+ delivery DoorDash orders on back-to-back Saturdays which made me earn about $60+ in less than an 1 hr of work. Keeping it on Marshmallow 6.0.1 for good. Oreo isn't as bad as iOS11, but it's no big deal either. Once people start updating to Oreo, I can already hear the outcry for it that it ruined their battery life or whatever. LG G5 has 1295 fans. Let's cross 1.3K. As underrated as the PS Vita. Daily drivers LG G5 (Phone), left holster Apple iPhone SE (Browser), right Motorola Moto E 4G (GPS), car Backups LG V20 HTC One M7 Retired Xiaomi Mi 3 LG G3 Beat I try to think about phones I might want like the iPhone X or V30. And I just can't find any because I don't like all-glass rears and whatever feature they eliminated. I'm close to my personal smartphone nirvana as is and should be fine for the rest of the decade. Most of what I read here is the greed and lust inside of me. Just be content with what you have and use your phone for as long until it dies. But I figure ADHD people want that new, honeymoon phase feeling again every 1-3 years, so they will continue to purchase new phones they don't really need just for that temporary feeling to show off and look good. Phones have become shoes or new purses. Fashion. Greed. Catered to hipsters where design matters most. Planned obsolescence like sealed battery and no expandable storage. Apple ruined the industry. Bad Apple is cancerous.

  • Anyone tried using OTG in this device.? Tried using mine and the phone was so lag. Phone function is stuttering. what about yours?

  • Today i have test my g5 with galaxy s6 edge opening subway speed. The galaxy win by partially of one second.... My question how that?

  • +1 to go to xda forum g5 att hotspot fix advice.. for your software update(Marshmallow to Nougat), download and install LG Bridge to your pc/laptop then connect your phone. A software update should let your phone be upgraded to Nougat.

  • go to xda forum g5 att hotspot fix

  • for at&t hotspot fix , go to xda forum g5 at&t

  • Im using lg g5 h820 at&t .its don't share internet with hotspot.touch sensible is very low.battery drein quick.how to unklock hotspot service.no update is available stil 10.10.2017

  • My LG G5 camera glass broke; smashed when phone is dropped. Try getting that fixed. No support outside USA and since my H860 is not a USA number; they don't talk. OK no country talks, India, EU, ME, Korean, Saudi, PHiillipines So there is no sercvice outside USA and you must buy in USA. NOw tell me why I should ever think of LG again ?

  • H860 is dual sim nano...but you cant insert two sims with memory card .then if you want two sims you cant insert the memory card .. If you put memory card you will use only one sim

  • Hi Guys, I am planning to buy LG G5 very soon as my need is Dual Sim Card, but got to know it has hybrid Sim card slot. So can anyone confirm how many SIM card and Micro SD card it can accomodate. My Requirements are Dual Sim Cards, 4GB+ Ram, Snapdragon 820 and Very good Camera hence chose LG G5. Open for other suggestions as well. Thanks.

  • Absolutely agree with staying on android 6 marshmallow. 2 of my friends sold G5s because of nougat. I stuck to Marshmallow and no problems except for hardware. Its been one year and when my new battery arrives I'm going to factory reset. See if I can't get 5+ hrs screen time again. Might go pixel 2 XL fox Xmas... if in stock :/

  • My G5 RS988 arrived yesterday and my all-time favorite phone just got even better. No more bloatware and my Sprint that would stop recognizing any sim which made it difficult to sell on Craigslist. I kept it on Marshmallow. I will miss split-screen but Nougat ran my old G5 a little warmer and used up 10-15% more RAM. I believe MM is the best version of Android and lightest on RAM since KitKat. Emojis on SwiftKey are also better with MM. It uses the LG emojis. When I updated my G5 LS922 to Nougat, SK uses the ugly default blobs from Google's keyboard. LG ones look more normal and what we would see on Oreo or on iOS. Stick to Android 6.0.1 for as long as you can. I used Nougat and Oreo and neither are that special. Latest version I wouldn't mind using is Nougat 7.1.2. Oreo ruined my Pixel's battery which made me sell it. Oreo is still gppd though and not as horrendous as iOS11.

  • How to turn off sound of camera?😞

  • Sorry ... But the battery on this phone is very good also no problems with gps ...i am h860 ..what is your model please and what the version of sofware you are?

  • There are like 3 main problems with this phone: Screen retention which can be fixed i believe, then the GPS which also can be solve by placing a little bare cable between the GPS antenna and the chassis contact... and some people suffer from the dreaded bootloop, but don't seem to be that common. And the extra problem which it can't be fixed... the poor battery life.

  • Can you please bother to go into details about the small little details you mentioned ? You are not the only one saying it's full of problem but it almost seems like a troll because none mentioned any of the problems

  • I've had this phone for about 10 months now and I guess I've been one of the lucky ones because the phone has been great for me hopefully it will last me another year and two months lol

  • Had nothing but rouble with this phone and every LG phone I've had. Really won't recommend this phone at all.

  • If you talk about v20i then it is slower than v20g and the fast charge sign disappear after a while from charging ...on antutu v20g is more better than v20i...and my touch told me that .... Wait for next update

  • I got the model H860.

  • What are the small issues

  • Battery life is good, camera is ok (wide-lens is pretty awesome), however after having 4 replacements I cannot stress enough how many other 'small' issues pop up and cause general frustration that I could never recommend this device. After having Samsung for years and swapping to LG I can't believe enough that I made a mistake. Not a good brand of phones.

  • I wouldn't; I'm on my 4th replacement G5 from T-Mobile and still having the same issues losing connection (if I lose service for a moment it won't come back without 2-3 reboots) and notification lights going off when there are no notifications. This isn't just my phone, it's 4 different devices now.

  • H860 or h850

  • My g5 just got a new software update. It says for phone usability and enhancement functionality and google patch update. the size is 525 MB . I'm here in the Phil. What about you guys?

  • It's your opinion man. Android gives the user way more freedom compared to apple. Take it or leave it, it is up to you. Eitherway I am staying with Android for life.

  • I like the LG G5, but only when the following are set up and applied to the device. Update to the latest Nougat update. Install app "Blue Light Filter - Night Mode," then set the color temperature to 1800k and the intensity to 5%. (This solves the screen retention issues) I went an extra step and put copper heat strips on the emmc, cpu, and gpu. (This may be unessisary) Buy a battery charging case so you have an extra battery. Disable knockOn with an app that can access all your settings. Get an app named "SystemUI Tuner" adb all the commands to the phone and then change your screen animations to 0.4 setting, and change all the quick notifications to show 7 of them above when you pull the notification jore down. Also enable developer options and enable "Forced GPU Rendering." Forced GPU Rendering disabled is the main culprit for the phone preforming slowly while you are using it. (You will have to do your own research on these to change them/fix them) Coarse get another home launcher..I recommend Nova Launcher Prime. Now you are set! Extra stuff I did to my LG G5. I got Tasker and did some automation to make the phone more useful (not nessisary, but I enjoy it) I installed an app named "Tiles." It allows you to have many custom quick notifications options. I also use Open Camera with manual exposure when taking photos. Hope some of this helps!

  • You need to get the app named "Blue Light Filter - Night Mode." Once you get the blue light filter app set the color temp to 1800k then set the intensity to 5%. Once you do this the ghosting you are calling it will disappear. It isn't ghosting btw, it is screen retention. Ghosting is way worse than screen retention. When screen retention occurs if disappears about 5 minutes later when the display is off.

  • Did u mean NFC?

  • Same way. Having trouble connecting to anything bluetooth at the moment

  • Planning to purchase G5, its 200$ brandnew. I just want to ask if anyone is having experience regarding chin gap? Is the issue acknowledged by LG?

  • Bought the LG friend Cam grip attachment. It does provide a better grip and I like the 2 stage shutter button. Battery gives about 20 to 25 percent more to use. Zoom wheel is pointless as zoomed in pix are basically cropped normal images. I used my friends before but did not have a full 2 weeks of testing like now. I did not realize the worst thing about it: it will recharge your phone if you press ANY button on it not just the dedicated on switch. I brought it attached to G5 for picnic to take pix. By the time I got there it was dead. It had turned on in my pocket and depleted backup battery power. I could have just used my regular g5 chin and brought cam grip separately but that defeats the purpose of having it: I don't want to have to bring another thing with me. Better off using my lifeproof case and bring extra battery in sealed bag. Also it does not serve as a battery charger when plugged in alone. I got it for 20CAD used. I would be pissed off if bought for 80 CAD retail price. Should have just bought another battery

  • Anyone experiencing Bluetooth issue while connecting to a Bluetooth speaker? I have jbl xtreme and jbl Everest headset. speaker will not function. But when you tried to connect to another paired Bluetooth in your BT option (by tapping on another paired BT device) it'll work. If you get what I mean.

  • Amazing battery... Amazing touch.. amazing camera but my feel g4 camera is more better although g5 had multi functions and wide camera

  • I also have the same problem dude. my g5 also has screen retention. they said there's a solution for the issue. That is to install a blue light filter app. I never tried that app to fix the problem. I want to have the accurate color of my photo. I don't mind about the screen ghosting. I also tried to search for any solution on the internet and there's none. So unfortunate that this problem cant be fixed. we'll have to live with that or replace your phone with a new one. I'll stick with my g5. I still have to earn money to buy a new device. I'm planning to buy the lg v30 when it gets cheaper.

  • Honestly after reading reviews I thought this phone was going too be a good buy. Until 8hrs after purchase I started noticing the ghosting. Still no answer for the solution too this. I have been using G from Optimus G, G2, G3 I skipped G4 because of bootloop and got this G5 My best advice for anyone trying too buy LG phone is Please stay away from it all the LG phones I've used are waste of my hard earn money I should have keep saving for other brand. Don't buy LG phone please I advice. If you think I'm saying this too lie I still have my G2 broken Screen G3 Bootloop and not this G5 ghosting I can share there pictures. This G5 is the last LG product I will ever buy.

  • Its pretty good especially the split screen feature and the battery is amazing now sooo muuuch better but it does stutter a little bit every now and then but its not bad by any means.

  • Hlw guys, my g5 model F700l korean version.i want to upgrafe Android N.Kindly Suggest its good or bad for battery life?

  • Upgraded from the s5 active never been happier the lock button on the back is slightly annoying as you have to pick the phone up every time to unlock it with your fingerprint. I don't mind the plastic back as I think it will stand up better then metal and feels solid and sturdy as well . Battery life easily gets me through the day with about 30% remaining usually. My old s5 used to barely get me through half the day and it was so old that it would get burning hot doing basic tasks (snapchat and such) and become slower then a 15 year old laptop when hot. Cameras are great no question about that taken some amazing pictures love the setup this phone has. Headphones work good had some issues with other phones (mainly sony z2 and samsung s4) where they would be super quite but this phone has iphone like audio quality. Loudspeaker is surprising loud and bassy for such a small unit. Love that you can tap in the knock code without even turning the phone on and use the fingerprint scanner without the phone being on. Always on display is awesome shows everything it needs to without eating battery life. Fingerprint scanner is the fastest and most accurate ive ever used works every time unless your finger Is super dirty. Only thing I would've liked is wireless charging but that's pretty much the only thing. I was going to buy an s7 but it was about $400 more then this phone I think that samsung is so expensive just because it says Samsung on it because these phones have the same specs but one is $400 cheaper then the other and has better cameras and a swappable battery. G5 all the way never been happier with a phone

  • guys does it support VoLTE in India And can we make calls without the help of Jio4GVoice ???

  • im using h860

  • Grate phone for the price, Love the removable battery and the SD card option. Camera is amazing. Great size even for my big hands Clear screen. Don't care about the design so much, all my phones goes in hefty cases from day one, so, whats the difference?

  • Get it disabled man! easier than expected.

  • If you have problems with the auto correction function, try to install another keyboard app... the default one is very basic, i use Swiftkey, zero issues and the app learns your input pattern. Android can be a little cumbersome to some, but the customization and flexibility it really makes the OS shine.

  • I dislike everything about this phone but what I dislike most, what infuriates me about it, is it's deeply offensive auto-correct for text messages. How DARE YOU correct my foul words! How dare you auto-correct a 42 year old profession's f-cking swear words. At the very least it should be programmed to LEARN over time and stop auto correcting my curses. Oh, yeah, I'm sure that there is some un-intuitive way to shut the stupid auto-correct off but I know that the fix will be incredibly difficult to find, like everything on this phone (e.g. the voice-mail recordings cannot be found in the phone function... wtf!?). The voice-mails are hidden on the second screen in a sub-folder... until you find it and move it to where it should be, next to the f-ing phone button. Long story short, if you are trying to find an adequate iphone replacement to save some money... don't. The Android operating systems are NOT even remotely intuitive or user friendly and if you are a current iphone user, the nonsensical interface of the Android OS will likely drive you cuckoo. The phone is also made of very cheap and fragile materials, especially the screen which scratches and cracks if you drop it on a carpeted floor (had my iphone 4S for many years, dropped on concrete while standing 6ft tall, with no scratches and NO cracks). Frankly, I find it offensive that Android and LG would subject consumers to this sorry excuse for a phone. It isn't worth $50, let alone the hundreds of dollars your cell company will charge you. Perhaps I am completely insane but I would much rather pay more money for quality than save a few hundred on a pile of electronic crap. Just for some background... the only reason I switched from iphone was because I was getting tired of Apple releasing iphone updates that made the OS LESS user friendly. Now I know that no matter how much Apple screws up the iphone's OS, it will never-ever be as awful as an Android or HTC.

  • Which one are you using Korean F700 and did you got update OTA or manual update through LG brigade.

  • I'm doing the exact same thing. Keeping G5 till v30 down in price. But im Going to buy brand new battery for g5 since I notice that battery life is now 1hr less screen time. G5 will he one year old in 2 weeks.

  • Im using G5 Asian set , so far this phone serve me very well , after using it for about 8 month the battery stamina decreased about 35% , kinda okay because sometimes i do overcharged the phone , just got my new battery today , so far the stamina of the phone has been restored . The Processor is powerful and actually quite a battery saver because of the Battery capacity is just 2800mah but the phone can last about 12h++ of SOT ( new battery ) kinda impressive for me . The Photos taken from this phone is SUPERB , jaw dropping , using the wide shot mode , the manual mode , makes u feel like a pro . Overall the phone is great , just nice but the design a bit kinda ....haha i dont know what to say about the design im speachless haha . Hopefully this device will get Android O updates .

  • may i know your G5 model No. ?

  • I'll stick with my lg g5 until lg v30 will be cheaper. my g5 is working good so far. .

  • Whats your model of g5? sorry to hear

  • Battery must be constantly charged; screen hard to see outdoors even at highest brightness. Rear power switch turns the unit on whenever laying on a flat service; very annoying. Difficult to switch apps from internal storage to memory card.

  • Don't buy this shit phone, I just used for 1 year, recently I got a bootloop and yesterday It didn't turn on. I paid 800 for just 1 year, that's the stupid thing I did.

  • U love camera buy g5 u don't love camera buy rdn4 100% worth money

  • U love camera buy g5 u don't love camera buy rdn4 100% worth money

  • Most likely the Galaxy S7 will get longer support time than the G5, that with OS updates and ultimately with security patches.

  • I do love my htc u11 but I admit bein able to control my TV and sky box never gets old with my G5 and I wish my U11 had infrared remote control also but it seems it's bein done away with now with all the latest phones. The G5 is such a great smartphone but everyone seems to pull it down or dismiss it but it deserves so much more of good recognition instead of bad.

  • They're close I'd prefer the G5 but it's you're choice Choose what works better for you

  • Lg g5 or samsung galaxy s7?

  • Correction. I mean 'when you take a photo'.

  • Does anyone notice the camera of this phone that when you take a phone during night time with the flash turned on , photos are somewhat yellowish. I have to adjust the photo quality using google photos app auto enhance mode to straightened out the photo quality.

  • I've got the international version dual sim H860. I use the battery that originally came with the phone.

  • I am stuck in two mobiles. Please suggest whick to buy Lg g5 vs Xiaomi redmi note 4?

  • scarab77 kindly tell which version used?

  • The Chand I also using this version.but battery backup is average & no nougat update till now.how can i maualy update?kindly tell me.

  • Ian kindly tell me which model u used?which model battery backup is good?

  • try to reset the phone to clean all the junks in the system. Then re-install your apps. Hope this helps.

  • I have this phone for 5 months now. Phone is working great. Camera superb. Fast processor. love the phone because it has all the goodies namely removable battery, high end chipset, good gpu for high end games. Not the best looking phone but I am using ringke onyx case to protect the phone from any drops and it looks good. Recommended for those people who's looking for a budget phone with high specs.

  • Hello everyone. Plz solve my problem... I have lg g5 h860 dual sim. Last 20 days my phone battery is very weak. I use one sim. Approx 6gb free space on phone. I delete unnecessary apps and games. When i use my phone battery down very fast. When stand by 4 to 5 percent drain in 6 to 7 hours. What can i do plz suggest me. I buy this phone from 10 months and i buy new pin pack phone.

  • Hello everyone... I am using this beast from last 5 days ..its a superb fastest phone i haver ever use... Before this i used Galaxy S7... This phone has no match especiall price wise.. I am using G5 korean F700L model with andriod 7.0 Battery is good for one day..camera is outstanding..but only LG didnt changed its UI ... Same old dailpad style...same messaging layout... But overall its a good device with very good and loud speaker too. Go for it

  • Have this phone for almost six months, no problem what so ever but this was expected because i had the g2 for almost 3 years and it was flawless, but what i didn't expect was the magnificent camera (both), my wife has the iphone 7 red product which cost double the money and uses my phone for taking pictures!!!!!! I also have the B&O hi fi plus module and the sound is superb loud and clear, not to mension the screen. The battery will take you through the day easily but i wish it would be larger in capacity, the good thing is that it's removable and i always have a second in my wallet, but till now have never used it...

  • Hi, i did not had any of those problems, i assume that not all devices are built flawless. The phone has 8 months and it works very good. Lag free, good photos. Always on display is a thing that must be deactivated because it "eats" battery life time. I must say that is the most stable phone i ever had, it reminds me of Google Nexus 4. Not the most handsome phone, but this phone you can vouch is a good price / offer one comparing to samsung, sony, iphone.

  • I previously owned LG G3 and then bought G5. I will start with G3, the phone is cheap qualilty, internet browsing is good, fast in speed and mobile date, slowly I noticed that phone heats up too quickly while charging or on call. The body isn't in good quality, a little fall and glass is broken or body is chipped, so obviously every fall or bump it makes the hardware and software are easily broken. Next year I bought G5, no fall no bump, bought with otter box, but the pressure of otter box had probably cracked the camera lens, and slowly phone starts deteriorating in phone-network quality. The call drops, the voice slowly fades away as you are on call, the phone heating up is same while on call or charging up. Body is made up of cheap quality. Phone is un necessarily heavy. LG back up for contacts doesnt seems like working. Contact list is ann issue, contacts automatically switched from email account to phone memory or sim memory and then vanished completely to god knows where. I suggest I am disappointed with this phone in totality.

  • Very underrated device, it's a shame, only because the body design, and the materials. I like to see the good side of things, LG made a mistake with de modular design but any other brand tried to do this first. It's my actual device, I suffer the screen ghosting problem but, it's lcd screen! This goes away easily with a blue light filter app. If this happens in a amoled screen you need a replacement. It's a very good device for me.

  • I had the same problem today, I was looking for a solution in Internet but nothing. So, in a desperate situation I did this: Clean very well the camera lens, put the ois stabilization, go outside (do this at the day) and shake your phone constantly, you may listen a noise in the camera (similar to the noisy problem int the camera focus with the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge) and the phone will try to focus correctly, stop this when you can focus without problem. If this don't work, you maybe need to change the camera glass (if it's scratched) or the whole camera.

  • The best lg phone.

  • I buy lg g5 3mnths ago now his 16mp back rear camera cant focus its image i blur what can i do i m very upset plz help if u have same prblm...i reset mb do evry thng but cant solve now what i do :(

  • My current daily driver is a htc u11 but I admit now and again I do switch back to my G5 and I think it's a excellent smartphone and it offers so much value for money what with it having a replaceable battery and always on display and infrared remote control plus the screen is really good also in most conditions. I find that call quality is excellent also and yeah build quality is not ideal but I keep mine in a spigen beetle series armoured case so it's well protected but I do think the G5 is a end of a era in that it's the last replaceable battery smartphone, well next to the v20. Either way in some respects I think it's much better than than my extremely fragile glass U11 that has no battery replacement like my G5.

  • Nice to hear your opinion on LG phones, yeah build quality isnt best piece of it. whatever i will stick with g5 for one more year. I just like the phone itself (back dual camera, size, weight, UI,fast charge) pretty much.its a great blend of hardware and software just with some manufacture drawbacks

  • After 9 months? You got lucky. My G5 got image retention after just 4 months. And I just noticed last night under Nova Settings in night mode which shows a dark grayish background that my V20 at nearly 4 months is also starting to show it! Bootloop was a problem in LG's 2015 flagships. Cheap displays with ghosting was their problem in 2016. I still love my V20 though. I forget it was military-graded for drops and that's why zero flaws when it fell face first to the tile. Even the paint didn't scrape off. My Moto E has been dropped and shows nothing too. My Lumia 640 dropped and shows nothing. Motorola and Nokia build strong phones. My Pixel was dropped inside its holster case. Flawless. My G3 Beat shows cracks on the top after it fell from the bed. G5 shows a dent after one waist high fall INSIDE its holster case. SMH. LG has used cheap plastic or glass that easily dents throughout their G-series going back to Optimus G. Only G2 seemed well-built and it lacked microSD slot, removable battery, and was glossy plastic. G3, G4, G5 aren't built to withstand drops. G6 is glass. It was only until the V-series is when LG started to care about durability with its military-graded materials but it looks like the V30 will follow the footsteps of the G6. Like I said before, I will always stick to Android but I have been dual wielding both it and iOS as of late. I love the size and design of the iPhone SE. Still more SExy than the iPhone 7 and 8 series. I sometimes forget how smooth iOS can be. I just hate its restrictions. So Pixel on Verizon is the one I plan to stay on unless Nokia 8 or Essential Phone can convince me otherwise. Stay away from LG unless it the materials are military-graded to withstand drops. Like the Samsung S series, LG G series are built CHEAP. Motorola and Nokia are better engineers for durability and reliability. Apple, HTC, and Sony are definitely higher than Samsung, LG, and most of the Chinese. Will still keep my V20 because it will be the last flagship to offer removable battery.

  • I swear, I think I wasn't meant to own the G5. A couple days ago, it accidentally fell waist high. It was still inside the holster case. Just recently, I noticed a slight dent on the top of the phone. It is annoying to look at. In comparison, my V20 was dragged to the tile because I forgot to detach it from the laptop. It falls facedown. No holster case. No damage whatsoever. Not even a scratch. I was surprised thinking the damage might show a day later or so. I'm planning to sell the G5 now. It feels like it was made out of tin can. First the ghosting. Then battery drain after update which was remedied by restore to new. Now its fragility. Both it and the S7 edge will be put on sale. I plan to use only the Pixel (Verizon), V20 (media), and iPhone SE (GPS). I have some bad luck with the G5. My V20 on the other hand isn't perfect by any means. But reliable and better in most important aspects, it is. Pixel. V20. SE.

  • You should use an app named "Ghost Screen" it's only 50 cents for it and you never see your problem. btw it's the best app of LCD's ghost screen :D

  • After 9 months my g5 started suffer from image retention. Its is here on the top of taskbar, should i replace my LCD ?? I probably wont sell it soon, is it worth to pay extra for lcd and repair job??

  • I'm having this phone almost a year and I'm pretty satisfied with the camera, it's fast, fast charging, the size, and I said that he will get Android Oreo update. Im not satisfeid with the GPS is not working at all, battery is not good and also when I play a game and when I close it they are still some details from the game on the next screens open and that pissed me off. anyway it has Android 7 the touch is good sounds good. I'm happy to have it but soon I will upgrade to some other brand as HTC or Samsung

  • anyone have problems with photos colors as displayed; My bright orange is yellow; bright red is purpose. blues are off. how to fix this as sending the files to anyone they get the correct colors; its the display itself and not the camera. Where is settings. OF coarse no suppoort worldwide unless you are in USA. I'm told by USA that My model no is out of USA so no support at all, India, Korea , ME, phillipines offer no support. For travelers; forget it !

  • I totally have the same thing. Battery life is terrible and the sim disconnects regularly. Worst experience. I'm considering switching back to galaxy

  • Is it worthy buying G5 now, in 2017, what do you think???

  • I have had a G5 since December and mine has been working perfectly and as for the bootloop thing it's just mostly hysteria and the chances of getting a G5 with it are slim indeed. Go for it there's nothing wrong with this phone.

  • Hey friends i need a suggestion from the users of lg g5. I want to buy new smart phone and i'm looking for lg g5 but im scared of of bootloop issue in lg g4. I want to buy a used phone so i.will not have any coverage or warranty. Can you please tell is this problem is coming in lg g5 too ? Or any other problem to look on? Thankyou :')

  • I'll be getting this phone next week, should I be worried? Bootloop?

  • I have to say that this is by far the worst smartphone I had. Before it, I had xperia Z2 and have never experienced the problems I have with this LG. From loosing GPS signal almost always when I'm aproaching my destination, non functional fingerprint unlock, poor baterry life, now it started restarting whenever battery comes under 15%. I have it for year and a half and cant wait to switch back to sony or anything else for that matter.

  • Worst phone,Please never buy. This phone has major problem in signal reception ,drop signal again and again.Battery timing is not good.

  • Well you are right my bro...also Q6 or Q8 of LG will be good gsm...

  • LG V20 is avalible for about 335 e and in my opinion its much better option also no bootloops :D

  • Iphone 5s

  • Suggest me the best phone in the range of LG G5. Don't suggest s6 please.

  • Absolutely this phone is still relevant now in 2017 and worth buying and I have a G5 myself but my current daily driver is the high end htc u11. Even compared to my U11 the G5 is in some respects better because it has removable battery and always on display and infrared remote control and fm radio and if I dropped it I know my G5 would survive the fall whereas my U11 would probably shatter. In some respects I would rather be using my G5 but it's now my back up phone.

  • Right speach. UI on Nougat reminds me of Lollipop, its the last android version i liked the most because of white theme and new status bar. Its cool LG decided to let almost stock ui on g5 instead of MM. I totally agree, status bar on MM is pretty crappy and weird. Performance is super smooth I use Chrome, yahoo mail,FB client, tinder and many widgets at the same time it still dope no single lag (y)

  • Yes, very much. I would say for next 1.5 years :) It is a good phone with camera+IR+good battery(get spare battery mod too)+dual sim etc.

  • True, no battery drain for me too and update is good and fixed lot of issues. It's a particular app that is badly designed that takes the phone battery down.

  • Take it to the service center. I got mine PCB replaced for free as it is under warranty. As you mentioned your set is from US, it might be an issue. But, bootloop is a big deal, you can check it by mailing to serviceindia at lge dot com and reproduce your US bill. Else pay the PCB damages, I'm not sure the cost of the same.

  • OK,to some it up,is it still worth it to buy LG G5 this midway of 2017?

  • More like Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich unless people had Honeycomb on their tablet. Android M to N wasn't huge, so I don't expect N to O or O to P to be much of a difference. I actually had fast battery drain on my G5 when I updated to N last week. It was fine for a few days and then I downloaded MoboPlayer to get the mini-player back and for some reason my battery drained 1% every minute or two. So I deleted it as well as Dasher, LG backup, restore to new, restore from backup, and everything is back to normal. Took less than 1 hr to get everything back to once it was with just tweaking with the Settings app. The battery calibration is probably out of sync once we update to every major firmware. I am pretty content with Android 7. Nougat is the best update since KitKat. I use the Pixel as a guinea pig if the software update is good enough. Then my other phones just follow once the software update becomes available. I love my G5 though. It has the smoothness of my Pixel with the all-around features of my V20 but slightly smaller and nicer to hold. Pixel, G5, and iPhone SE are my three smoothest phones to use. V20 and S7 edge will stutter occasionally. G5 still my favorite phone ever which is weird because it also has given me issues with the ghosting and recent battery drain. My Pixel went through it briefly until I charged it with the charger it came with. If the G5 battery keeps draining fast, then I will just swap it with the fresh one stored in my drawer. That's my last resort. The beauty of having a removable battery. G5 = underrated phone May leave it on Nougat forever which is the best Android firmware I have ever used. Better than Marshmallow. I never liked LG's notification shade and Nougat replaced it with closer to the Google stock one. Also love split-view window and double tap recent to go back to previous app. Just always remember to backup, reset, and restore. G5 + Android 7 = AWESOME!

  • Thanks for the tip man.

  • you need to replace the charging cable with a good aftermarket model lg calbes are not durable

  • That's terrible. Sorry to hear that but its up to your carrier and their repair/replacement policies. Depending on screen repair price/hassel sounds like maybe waiting foe your renewal to get a new phone may be best option? I've only ever cracked screen of one phone I owned and I sold it instead of having screen replaced. Bought a cheap used phone till renewal.

  • I don't think there will be a huge jump between O and P. The biggest improvement was between GB and kitkat

  • Nougat reminds me of Lollipop, the ui is pretty similar in all last versions ( lollipop, mm, nougat) The only thing are performance and doze. Since lollipop we have tremendous ui but software itself isnt perfect

  • If normal reset not help do factory reset. BR

  • G5 owners will get Android O as each phone usually gets two major updates. It started from MM. Seeing that O isn't such vast improvement from N, the transition should be less problematic compared from K to L. I am already pleased with Nougat and really enjoy the split-view and overall smoothness, so I really wouldn't care if G5 never gets O except to rid of the yellow emoji blobs. I suspect Android P will be a bigger update than going from N to O. That's what my Pixel is for.

  • i want to buy a lg g5.i want to lg g5 is good phone?it has any issue??? boot loop problem here??please someone please tell me.

  • guys!! is 7.1.1 available on your phones?

  • I think LG will no longer support lg g5 with security updates. .Sad I hope they will update the phone to android O.

  • I got the dual sim version LG H860

  • Just change your buttery it would be fine.

  • i purchased this phone a little over 3 months ago, since that time i dropped it once, on the ground and the screen cracked, to me this was not what was promised regarding the glass, before the glass broke i would always get messages that said i had too many contacts delete some, and if i did not delete my contacts which i did not want to , it would take them away itself, i hate this because i can not take time to remember numbers they change all the time. Verizon says the phone cost 600.00 dollars and i have only paid in around 280.00 so far. to me at the price they asked for this phone it is certainly no worth it. the broken class should have been able to repair itself for that price. Now they want me to send it back to the company while i either do without a phone or get another Verizon phone until it is repaired due to the fact that i did not buy the insurance plan. I think i have been scammed by Verizon themselves in order to keep making money off of me. please send me your feed back, this should be a class action suit against either Verizon or the company that makes it. sincerely, Dissatified.

  • What model do you have

  • I agree with you Mr. Grey

  • What do you mean its not on bud? you mean it will not power on?

  • My lg g5 mobile is not on.please suggest me what do I do

  • I think you need to change your battery buddy. that's good about lg g5 . you can change the battery in a snap of a finger.

  • Hi guys, I have a problem from last 7 days.i don't know what happened with my G5.It was good last 8 months.it's battery running about to 6 to 7 hours at a time when i bought.bt now it couldn't last atleast 3 hours.suggest me to solve this problem anyone.

  • Dont get all this hype around crappy, gloomy display on g5. Its decent looking even on a sunny day when u use it outside. Performance is super smooth on Nougat, i have no issues besides weak SOT.

  • Seems like a good experience with G5 on Nougat so far. I was reluctant and was thinking to keep it on Marshmallow for good but it kept showing the software update in my notifications, so I went for it because I like the split screen and improved Doze for better standby.

  • Not all G5's have the boot loop issue, all this boot loop hysteria is out of hand. I have a 9 month old G5 which works perfectly they ain't all bad.

  • Unfortunately, I changed my mind about this device I will never come to this company again because of the boot-loop issue. Even thou, I ordered one but I will cancel it for sure. Sad LG

  • I have an extra battery for my lg g5. the battery got damaged. Will not fit in my g5 anymore. Its like busted or how do you call it. never dropped the battery just left it in my battery cradle. All of a sudden battery like exploded or something. how did that happened? any idea ?

  • NO other way to fix bootloop issue of this device but to return it back to where you purchase it. If your phone is still covered with the one year warranty then you don't need to pay for anything . It will take 1-2 months till you get the phone back. Sad

  • I agree with you. I also love my LG G5. Great camera with removable battery, expandable storage. Not the latest chipset but still fast enough to get your day goin. Also snappy User interface software.

  • Back cover is actually metal. Its just coated with a thick paint to get rid of the antenna as far as I know. googled it. anyway.

  • Had the phone 4 months already. Returned BACK TO THE STORE before because of bootloop issue. got the phone and phone is working good. I don't mind about the screen retention/ghosting issue to get the accurate color. Phone is snappy. The phone is not charging sometimes though wheni plugged the phone. Phone says not charging. any solution guys?

  • A shame that the back is made of plastic and LG is false advertising, claiming it has a metal alloy body. Will not be getting this phone.

  • I have had the G5 since August 15th 2017 and hd the phone sent out for repair twice and it replaced once so far to fix the GPS issue everyone complains about. When new, the GPS works perfectly, but after a few weeks of use the GPS will start having some connection issues and will eventually have connection to 0 satellite connection according to the app "GPS Status". LG is very frustrating to deal with through their Chat service as well as some staff are very rude in the "internal team". Other than the GPS issue, the phone is pretty good. Camera, screen and performance is good. The call quality is pretty shoddy sometimes though.

  • Hello , I bought LG G5 H860 , almost 7 months ago from USA but using it in india. I am facing Bootloop issue since last 3 days and its now severe,Also its getting heated a lot during bootloop . Initially it was just freezing few times but now it is restarting every now and then. I tried factory reset but its of no use. Do you know any fix for this problem ??? And do any one know the cost of repairing just estimate if you have repaired your device. Thanks

  • Does this phone worth 200$

  • Just bought one .. I've seen as low as 200$ us...

  • to be honest I feel that this is a better value than s7/s7 edge because you also can remove and replace the battery and the dual camera wide angle lense is probably the best use of dual cameras. My friend has one I use it daily and it is a beast in performance as well. Definetely a goo.d buy

  • thanks, I am waiting for you do not forget buddy.

  • I recently bought one my self I'm supposed to get it Monday so ill get back to you and let u know

  • guys, do you recommend me to buy this guy? thanks

  • Yes it is.

  • thanks dude for the "in depth" personal review. G5 is a 2016 suppose to be flagship, right? anyways,im thinking of picking this one up. specs wise, pretty decent. plus the camera, which i watched videos of it. seems a great snapper. maybe a spigen case will do the trick for protection, right? from $300 to $265 to $200, a good buy. those price changes is just within 3 months as of july. the issue that bothers me are: screen bleed, gap between the removable battery and body. but anyways, for a price of $200 on a "2016 suppose to be" flagship phone, not bad at all.

  • I do. I love my silver G5. Underrated at everything including its design. My G5 did start to have ghosting within three months of having it though. All I did is just use a plain black wallpaper. My lockscreen is plain black but says Android on it. On my Textra app, all black with red accents. On my Nova Launcher settings, I use white background and not night mode. I also used to see it on my La Musique app but just changed it to Pi Music Player with black theme. Mine has a work around. As long as it isn't a gray background or anything lighter than black. I still LOVE both my G5 and V20. I think my V20 is the best phone because it is feature packed and has a better screen, video recorder, and longer battery life but G5 is my personal favorite and is louder, smaller, and has a smoother UI. I just bought a pair of $41 128gb microSD cards just to future proof them both. Still have 39gb left not including the internal storage (G5 has 14gb left, V20 has 40gb left). No more worries of storage anxiety for years and years unlike iPhones. Mandatory requirements - Removable battery MicroSD slot 3.5mm headphone jack IR blaster FM radio G5 and V20 will be the last flagships of their kind to have them all. I now use my Pixel less than my G5 even if it carries my Verizon sim because only no microSD slot, sealed battery, and camera is still great but overrated in my eyes. The worst of the Top 4 and I just prefer typing on my G5 more at 5.3". It also lacks IR blaster which I use everyday. V20 is the best phone LG ever made. The last of its kind for future proofing. G5 is my favorite phone ever made. The V20-mini or what the Galaxy S is to the Note series. V20 (best) G5 (favorite) Both great phones. Like having Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Jordan on the same team. No glaring flaws that annoys me like an S7 edge or iPhone would.

  • Who else prefer back dual camera setup and speaker design??? Also top of the screen is pretty nice, i cant get why its so biased over web?? Its weird lol. Design is decent and unique on this.

  • Hey all, is it possible to get over 4 hours of sot on Nougat?? My best sot after faxtory reset is only about 3:50 hoursll.

  • My g5 fell into 3 feet deep water for like 2 minutes. But nothing happened. Life is good 😀

  • YES. But... Be prepared for image retention. Many user report this issue. Happened to my G5 after about 8 months. Solved with an app called Blue Light Filter. I also have issues with lightbleed at edges. Can see when using fullscreen videos along black borders. Used to it now but still sucks no fix unless I replace screen. Had to change power button and bottom piece after it got soaked with beer. So don't pour beer on your G5 and should be fine. Or get a lifeproof case :D I don't have issue with GPS or Bluetooth but some users report problems. And I'm still on marshmallow. Too many reports of problems on Nougat. I still get 4hrs screen time, 15hrs use from original battery and 4.5-5hrs and 18hrs use on second battery. 50% bright ness. It has a curved screen at top so tempered screen protectors don't fully protect. The ones that do curve aren't sticky at the top so dust gets in. I dont use protector anymore and I dont have any scratches. Its a slippery phone and I've dropped it so on sides I have some scuffs. But its pretty tough. Headphones don't sound as good as G6 or V20 but speaker is loud. But I still love my G5 and didn't upgrade to G6 because: -Battery life is same and can change anytime. In the last 6months I've only ever been connected to a charger a few times. And when battery degrades I just get a new one. -G5 has same size storage, led notifier, IR blaster, and better selfie cam. -Not enough for me to upgrade. Yes, G6 better with water resistant, screen size vs body size, wireless charging, wide angle better and its prettier. But after using my friends for a bit, I don't think it was worth spending on the next model. Don't get me wrong, G6 is a great phone but the G5 is still fast enough for me. I'd rather wait for the bigger OLED LG V30 or th LG made Pixel2 (with front facing speaker?)

  • Hello LG G5 users. I know some of your handsets is plagued with Image retention issue. There is a software solution to metigate the problem. Use a software called 'Screen Filter' from Haxor industry. Set the screen brightness to 88%. For most part your screen quality isn't altered and the retention problem is metigated. I used this software workaround for quite some time and it worked out well. Hope this helps! To permanently solve the issue ask for screen replacement. I did it and since then no image retention issue!

  • Yes it is..

  • That is really strange. Did you contact LG Deutschland regarding the issue? They are really good in terms of customer service.

  • is the LG G5 is a flagship phone? anybody can answer my question please thank you.

  • Hey Sachin, i already did this and it always says I am using the latest OS version which is Marshmallow.

  • With a good deal you get a lot of phone for relatively little money it's still a good phone despite being over a year old.

  • @nafizz just wait for LG Q8 if that's the case

  • Hello Tank, I got Android 7.0 update more than 6 months ago. After which I got 2 more security patches too. I live in Germany. Download LG Bridge application to your PC and update manually. I hope it helps. Regards, Sachin

  • Hey Guys Am still waiting for Nougat update in Germany for the unlocked titan model. Has anyone received the update? Thanks

  • Is it good enough to purchase it in mid end 2017?

  • i am trying to find any service outlet in any country to see why taking fotos of orange always come out yellow ? bright orange is bright yellow. I tried many cams.. Anyone might know of an internal gama adjustment or a LG support office. I've tried all on facebook from europe to Asia. USA LG told me that only in USA do they offer support.

  • My back camera screen shattered. I took the peice off j out box tape over it & bought a new peice off ebay. I didnt drop mine either so I dont know how it happened!

  • no, it was not ok. They changed the main board of the phone and now is working.

  • still worth buying today? how the nougat update here in the california? thanks

  • Buy a new battery and you don't have to worry about SOT anymore because you get from 0 to 100% in less than 1 minute

  • I have an lg g5 just got it june 13th. Have had a otterbox case on it from the start and just noticed today my glass over camera lens is broke anyone have that problem? I do not recall dropping it and almost always have the clip attached unless charging it at noght

  • This phone is a great bargain when you consider that it benchmarks very close to the Google Pixel XL. I really love the camera on it and the wide angle is fantastic in good light. I've had one for over a year and the only problem is that the rear camera lens does get scratched when not protected by a case or film. The ability to have a spare (charged) battery for it when I'm traveling is great.

  • Worst phone ever!!! I had to replace the motherboard twice in less than a year

  • Which version battery backup is good for lg g5?any one tell me.

  • V20 has the perfect battery swap tech. It has removable back. That is why you can replace the stock battery to a bigger, higher capacity extended battery like ZeroLemon or Mugen extended battery. It is the main reason why V20 is better than G5. G5 does not have removable back so it's not possible to make extended battery for G5, that's why you can't find any. Moreover, in a post-apocalypse situation if your phone has removable battery and removable back cover, you can mod it to work with 18650 batteries. 18650 batteries are standard, more widely available, so there is a good chance that you will find them in the local shops.

  • Modular design is huge advantage over V20. It's cool how we can swap batteries on g5, I dont really like v20 because of outdated battery swap tech

  • Yup, mine is silver too and it can draw stares and be mistaken for the Nexus 6P. I prefer the back of the G5 more than the V20 although that V20 can draw attention. I believe V20 is basically the G5 XL or Plus. They have enough differences but are so similar too. I used to hate the Pixel's ugly rear but the design kinda grew on me. I just another ugly burn-in again with a darker wallpaper earlier today. Really annoyed me. Wasn't totally black. But now I just went for a plain black wallpaper and doubt it will return. The burn-in does go away naturally but it really gets annoying anytime you go back to the home screen and see burn-in from previous pages. That's the only thing truly annoying with the G5. Other than that, it is every bit as good as the Pixel and V20. Just sport a true, plain black wallpaper if you see any burn-in/ghosting on yours from time to time. Do it the original iPhone way.

  • My lg g5 fingerprint not working what i do ??

  • Cured my two main gripes with the G5 - Ability to change camera resolution for still photos is solved with Open Camera app. Ghosting / burn-in is changed to dark wallpaper for both home and lockscreens. The latter can be downright annoying at anything with a grayish background. You can even see it on Nova Launcher settings in night mode. Just avoid gray to dark gray backgrounds. I changed my Textra theme colors to black background with red and blue. I do prefer the G5 as my main media player because the speaker is louder than the V20, Pixel, S7 edge, and SE.

  • dual camera setup on the back is pretty sexy too. it looks pretty stylish on my silver g5

  • i just bought LG G5. But, could anyone have answers to the screen blackout am experiencing currently. Yes, i receive notifications, as sound and LED could notify, but i can't simply light the screen back. Have tried cleaning cache and reset, but nothing works? After a time like one hour or so, it lights back, but still after it resumes........

  • Do NOT update.

  • Using Open Camera app from the Play Store which now lets me adjust the MP resolution. I prefer 1920x1080p as each photo only eats up 700kb. My only qualm with the app is not being able to use the wide-angle shot. I just do a slide up gesture (Nova Launcher) on the Open Camera app to go back to the default camera app in case I want the wide-angle back. The Open Camera app has now made the G5 the go-to cameraphone along with the Pixel for video recording. Planning to use bring the G5 and Pixel to Del Mar and take photos and videos of Arrogate next Saturday. G5 still my favorite phone but Pixel and V20 are very, very close to it. G5 has an underrated design on the front.

  • Hello Guys. Any lg g5 verizon Vs987 users here?kindly tell me Nought update is good or bad?kindly share your experience.

  • I bought Lg g5 verigon vs987 this week.rose gold colour is very beautiful.but some original function missing like lg smart world.friends manager. I Was manualy installed those app.bettery life better than my previous g4.yester day my screen on time 5 hours 57 min of just browsing & watch video & screen brightness 17% to 20%.but gaming much not tested yet. g5 silver colour & grey colour not much attactive but rose gold colour is very rare & nice looking & premium feel also.display is brighter than g4 & one handed easily operating than g4. I not switch nougat update coz mm bettery backup is very good.thats my earlier expression of lg g5.

  • How long do you want to use this phone, and what do you want to do with it? The S7 is unquestionably prettier and more pleasant to use in full sunlight. The G5 is more versatile for power users because of the USB Type C port and the alt modes LG packed in there to support all those friends that never happened. But hey! seriously, you can use a bunch of different adapters or cables to connect this little beast directly to tvs, monitors, external hard drives (watch the FAT16 limitation of Android), mouse and keyboard--the list seems to go on and on. On top of that, you have options from the earphone jack, bluetooth, DLNA, wireless streaming, and an IR blaster. I have an unlimited data plan through my mobile carrier and stream HD to my tv- for that, I think a cable is better. My phone is in constant use, with the screen on. I have 6 batteries and 2 charging cradles. It's plenty safe to carry an extra battery around in a plastic baggy. LGs testing includes shooting nails through batteries to make sure they won't explode. There are videos online of drop and water tests. If it should break, its the easiest phone ever to take apart and fix. Both phones are now half or less of their original retail price.

  • As a cell phone seller, I highly suggest the G5. Ive never really had complain about the LG brand instead of Samsung who gets alot of complaint

  • things you can do: tether to tablet or laptop the g5 lasts very long if screen is not used or , get a life

  • Hey guys should i go with the galaxy s7 or the g5 :/ reply please ☺

  • Me too with same condition of battery life. But i am a heavy user. My 3G data is always turned on and 50% of time hotspot is on.

  • Maybe 5-6 hr SOT just browsing using Opera Mini (which saves battery) with 50-70% brightness. In most instances, 3.5-5 hrs. It does really well when streaming YouTube or playing videos. Standby is generally excellent and it charges really fast like up to 90% in less than 1 hr.

  • I have an LG G2 too. And i'm going to buy an LG G5. I believe that it's better than LG G2. LG G5 has new chips inside it. Personally i prefer LG than other brands. For example, LG G5 hasn't a huge screen as other phones you have refered. You have to see carefully, what the other brands offer, and you have to make ypur decision.

  • HEADER LINE FOR MODELS lOVE THE HEADER TO INClude models. Where is the H860. LG does not know. its in Europe and ME yet no one has support or can tell you about models and software/firmware upgrades. What web site would include this to actually advise anyone of updates.

  • Cracked screen last night. I was holding the phone while trying to open the door. I lightly pressed the screen against the doorknob. Boom. Screen cracks. Sucks. I hate glass screen!!!!!! Prone to cracks!

  • Hey Guys can you help me out please........... Which of the Versions of the LG G5 supports the Snapdragon S820 chipset and not the Snapdragon 652? - H850 (Europe) - LG G5 Speed H858 (Taiwan) - VS987 (Verizon) - H820 (AT&T) - LS992 (Sprint) - H830 (T-Mobile) - US992 (US Cellular) - Vodafone Please help me out. Thanks...

  • well like I said on my post I didn't watch any movies for that period of time. but my estimated on screen time is around 23hours mainly facebook and instagram. average youtube and twitter. I always turn off wifi and mobile data if im not using it and I always disable background refresh and GPS. also I clear recent apps every once in a while. brightness is around 30-45% . Don't get me wrong this is just my personal experience and im in no way claiming that all battery life is same for all G5 units out there but hey you can always get the G5 battery kit. saved me many times when Im binge watching on the go.

  • latter Nokia devices were always better in the ways that samsung and lg were forsaking for better on paper specs. My old $500 galaxy S4 after less than a year of use without case looked just awfull and its back cover got a few cracks, yet my mom's lumia 735 after 3 years still looks very good even though she used it without case as well, and it takes rather very good pictures with its 6.1 Mpixels camera. At least bright light photographs are quite on par with the lg g5's but get a bit blurry sometimes.

  • well he may be a gamer and therefore the screen on time will change -_-

  • Kindly tale whats lg g5 screen on time?

  • Im using g5. Battery is average. Galaxy s7 has reAlly good battery. Its cheaper now too.

  • thank you

  • My LG G5's battery life is fairly decent. im not a gamer also but I watch a lot of movies and series. my battery lasts about 18-24 hours depend on the number of videos I watch. but since Saturday, I charged my g5 to full and haven't watched any videos but checked my social media and still I have 45% battery left. according to the battery usage on settings, my usage on battery is 52H and 56 mins while estimated time remaining is 34H and 4 mins. Hope this helps.

  • I still have an lg g2 and I am planning to buy a new phone .. So I wanna ask if the lg g5 can last for few years ? and to know if the sony xperia x or Huawei p9 are better .. I want the battery life to last me a day ,also I want a great camera and good audio as I am not a gamer and spend of most of my time on social media

  • Anyone else struggling with awful 12-15 hour lastingbattery life?? I have to charge it twice a day. I can't even pass 3 hours of sot in 12 hours. Thanks

  • Got me one. My 7 year old Nokia N8 still takes better photos at daytime. What is going on ? Sure the G5 OIS and f1.8 makes nice night shots, but why are todays 700 euros phones inferior to an N8 , not to speak of the Nokia 808. IS IT SO HARD TO BUILD A SLIGHTLY BIGGER SENSOR IN AND SOME DECENT GLASS???

  • so many haters trolling here

  • If you use additional pieces it will disintegrate... Overheating, just cheap heatsink that doesn't do it's job.

  • I have same problem.... So if we can updata softwer it become ok??

  • Have had the g5 just over a year, the GPS doesn't work, screen burn in occurs after just minutes of looking at one thing, service is terrible while friends phones are fine, will go from 40% battery to dead and just turn off randomly, the camera doesn't work like it did when it was new, sensors have gone bad I guess. It is only just out of warranty, it replaced an LG G4 that died and went into boot loop. Will never buy another LG device.

  • What are you doing to your device and its always losing its signal? ive never had problems with G5 until now. it works smoothly and as it should be. The LTE signal on my device never drops. maybe you are doing something to your mobile settings or your area is some kind of a grey area where the signal drops.

  • I had 4G signal problems with my first LG G5 after 3 months. I sent it to service and they changed the antenna. After 2 weeks I had the same issue and they changed my phone. The second phone has the same problem after 4 months. I sent it to service and they changed the antenna, after 2 weeks I sent it back with the same problem. Now they say that the phone has no problem. I will never buy a LG product.

  • screen lag, no service after battery swap, battery degrading by day, dies at 15%

  • Pros: - Butter smooth performance. - Love the wide-angle camera, especially if you're taking a lot of Scenery photos. - One of the few last flagship phones that you can remove / replace your battery. Cons ( ... and these are big ones): - Due to the LG G5 using an LCD screen, it's prone to screen burn in. I can still see the google keyboard icon on darker backgrounds, even though I removed that months ago. - The GPS sucks. It takes at least 5 - 10 minutes to get a GPS signal, and at that point it's erratic and unreliable. This is a VERY big con. - Terrible after sales support. I've tried to contact LG, but keep getting referred back to my Network Provider. I'm very sorry to say that I will not be buying another LG Phone. I tried to move away from Samsung due to their terrible re-skinned UI and immense bloatware, but at least the hardware was fantastic.

  • I don't believe that theory because my V20 camera app provides all the settings I want including the ability to set to a lower MP or video size on both sides of the camera. Only my G5 doesn't give me the options similar to what iPhones do. Apple wants you to buy the bigger storage options, so each photo are as large as songs. At least the G5 has expandable storage where I can easily move my photos to. I can get a $90 PNY 200gb at Fry's. My 64gb Samsung microSD inside my V20 corrupted earlier this morning. My 64gb Transcend inside my G5 is still going strong? I think when I travel, I would bring the G5, V20, and Pixel along with the PS Vita. The V20 will likely be my main camera phone though. I have two holster cases attached to my hip with the G5 and Pixel. The V20 is just too bulky to attach to my belt that I leave in my pocket with another holster case to protect it. The G5 is nicer to hold when texting though. Ideal size. And I prefer the speaker on it over the V20 which is why I use it as for my videos and songs. V20 speaker is quite weak and barely on the level of the Pixel. The S7 edge has a louder speaker but I hate using that phone.

  • The reason is that LG phones have crap camera app. It does not have any option to change the photo and video resolution. It's pathetic that they (LG) brag about manual settigs, yet they don't offer even the most basic feature: changing photo resolution. You should try 3rd party camera apps, for example OpenCamera. It has more options than the stock camera app (you can change resolution, video bitrate, use always infinity focus in video, etc.).

  • Hello!I have buy an LG G5.I am generaly plesed. It is a good phone so far.One problem...battery wobbles(wiggle) in to the phone because of battery slot sticking system. Is not very stable/fixet in it.Can anyone tell if this is a current problem or it's just my phone problem. Can anyone tell me if Android 7 Nougat update is good for g5 or should I keep running on 6.01 Marshmallow?

  • Please i want to get some info. I got LG G5 just a day before. The sticker n the backside has written model no. H845. But in the About phone, H850 is written. Why is this so? Secondly how can i update to Nougat?

  • i'm using charger from my old phone. it makes 1 amps, no quickcharge, no problems with the battery at all.

  • Hey, in my case fast charging killed my battery in less than 6 months or it's just my faulty phone? Do you charge it daily via stock fast charger ??

  • That case sounds great to be fair and I have a u11 now but I do still have my G5 and I kept it in a love Mei case which for me worked great and many a time I used my G5 in the rain with no problems at all. :) To me my G5 is a classic and one of the true last great replaceable battery phones.

  • Still my favorite phone but I can't adjust the MP resolution lower. Each photo eats up 7.5mb. So with only 130+ photos, that eats up 1gb. I don't understand the reasoning? My other phones can be adjusted to a lower res. I tend to use the V20 most and will use it as my main camera phone and multimedia device.

  • One month with a lifeproof Fre for my G5. Feels very secure now. Tested in shower and bowl of water and no water gets in. But Problems: call quality poor. Pictures do sometimes get lens flare. Fingerprint sensor 75% accurate. Sometimes has problems with proximity sensor: when finished calls sometimes screen stays black and have to hit power button twice , and always on display sometimes not working when in case. But got it half price and even though makes phone bulky, worth it for security. Caught in storm twice and got drenched and phone stayed dry both times. Few months ago I had to replace power button because of spilled beer. Spilled drinks on G5 again but with lifeproof case, no problems. Good enough as part time case till v30 rolls out ;D

  • If you are already in the price range of the Nexus 6p, I'd actually go with the s6 edge or note 5, if phablets are your thing.

  • You could search for internet "how to start phone without powerbutton". Sometimes for example the a combination a volume-button and putting the charger in; it will start the phone (sometimes/maybe) in a special mode: and from there you choose to start the phone from the touch menu. Also you could soldering a new button by yourself or let one of your friend with "electronic knowlogde" do it. Did some search now. The lg button is very very easy replaceable. Just i thin cable you connect without soldering. Search for "replaceable lg g5 buttons". Good luck!

  • I've had the lg g5 for a year now & im starting to hate the thing! A few month's ago, my power button stopped working, cant turn device off & im scared to let battery drain completely, incase the piece of garbage will not turn back on! Pathetic. It's now starting to freeze alot & the GPS for car travel, that alot of people complain about is starting to give me problem's also!!! I'm sick of the sight of Samsung Galaxy's, that's why i purchased this handset as i thought it stood out from the crowd! But i will never buy another lg product ever again. It was my 1st from lg & it will be my last. I now need to pay £200+ to get shot of my current contract & this GARBAGE phone & i will now get myself the new Sony Xperia XZ instead.

  • I have lg g5 t mobile Android 7.0 wi fi not working and is gray i have format it but yet not working when I try to open wi fi my phone freezing and not working normaly Pls help me about that

  • Even though LG didn't make the audio dac add on available in the US, will it work on the USA version should I happen to acquire it?

  • My lg g5 H820 is restarting always.Specially when the volume is raised to maximum. Please give a opinion about this.

  • HI, I live in Serbia (Europe) can enyone tell me please what G5 model should I buy so that I can use my local SIM card or I should be good with any of the obove mentioned models ?

  • Early in 2013 I purchased an LG washing machine, model WT H550. Just noticed a few weeks ago that the external of the machine is rusting to bare metal. I contacted LG by chat and asked if this was normal. Finally received a phone call from someone who told me that water must have escaped from the tub and in spite of me telling her that this was impossible, she advised that LG would accept no responsibility. She told me that I could have the machine serviced, if I wanted, but I'd have to pay for it. Life can be SO GOOD.

  • lg g5, in my opinion, is the best choise.

  • Which smartphone should i buy? Nexus 6P & LG G5 or the Samsung S6? I'm kinda stuck on these three.

  • Hi Fearless, Mine is LG H860/India. I love modular design too. And I love LG G5 so much that I don't think any mobile comes close to it. Everything is perfect from battery, camera, infrared but bootloop came into my life again like a villain :) LG customer service is also appreciable they replaced my broken screen free of cost as they have some policy if it breaks within 6 months they will replace it. But frankly it is some common issue which is happening and I don't know why LG is failing to address it. I hope it doesn't come in G6. All the best I wish it doesn't come to anyone just keep your Google Photos sync to on so that your memories don't go away. BTW, I happened to back up my data with bootloop issue. My phone used to start and hang on home screen for 45 seconds after booting and till next boot repeat happens. So, within this time period I plugged to USB and backed my data. I have to repeat this thing for more than 30 times. But I'm happy that I'm able to recover data :)

  • Mine is LG H860/India

  • But that's why I love modular design. I had problems wth my G5 speaker and charge port and replaced G5 chin for sooooo cheap on eBay. Less than $20 CDN and replace by yourself. When i had Note 2, I had probs with charging port and I had a shop replace for $60 CAD. Replaceable chin and battery is awesome IMO.

  • That's terrible. What model and region is your G5? But that's one reason why I never buy a phone without SD card storage. I back everything up on it. I've been lucky with my LG g4 and G5. I never got bootloop and I don't think I will with my G5. I hope. And don't worry if it does bootloop I'll be sure to let everyone know here. Good luck with your new phone!

  • Main speaker of my lg g5 is gone.sometimes it's stopped work properly.as this time 2times happen that after restart the phone its work well.so my that's a bad thing.i sugggest everyone to not buy lg phone.they have some issues that they never can solve

  • I have a lg g4 also as well as my g5 and to be fair goin to the g5 is definitely a upgrade ok from the g4 BUT the screen is not quite as big as what the g4 has so you may miss that if you like your screens big but overall the g5 kills the g4. For me personally the g4 is one of my all time favorite phones and that's why I keep my g4 I will never sell it.

  • Mr Grey should I buy lg g5 now? Kindly suggest me.i have lg g4 now.

  • I cant see any volte option on my g5. It is an indian variant and running android 7.0 plz help

  • Still I want to BUY Lg G5. Lg g5 picture quality & lg g4 picture Quality is same?or any difference.I have Lg g4.kindly anyone inform me.

  • Same here but i replace my screen without any cost but the service guy left so many scratches and i sold it.

  • Hows your gps?

  • I have been using a g5 now about 6 months and for me battery life on nougat is excellent and certainly not poor and at the moment I am having trouble deciding what my next flagship will be because I find the g5 to be simply excellent and it handles anything I throw at it with ease. I do have a htc10 also and my G5 beats that phone with ease but I admit the sound quality on the htc10 is better than my G5 but everyone knows htc excel at sound quality on there phones.

  • Over one year i have used it. I have bad experience with lg g5. First screen bleeding is main problem, whenever i was watching youtube or other app. The home button and upper status bas will be ghostting effect on the screen. That's was so annoying. After nougat update the battery performance is very poor. There is no warranty claim in other countries such as in Pakistan.

  • Mine is Lg g5 H850; V10a-EUR-XX and also have not recieved android nougat update. Once Lg g5 fingerprint started to work poorly, maybe even stop to work for some time, but after factory settings restart it again works perfectly. Also my phone had something similar to boot loop, but after battery change it is gone.

  • Like the phone overall except the Volume Buttons!!!! Why the hell did you change the Volume buttons to the side for LG? I keep on hitting the buttons by accident! Lg should go back to their original design! Dang!

  • I have Lg g5 H820 (AT&T) model and i I have not recieved android nougat update yet ? and also on this device fingerprint option was gone and totally dissapear . anyone have same problems ???

  • been having mine for a year now...still super smartphone for this age...looking forward to get my hands on the G6😁

  • I look the specs they look almost identical.. so much much much better I doubt it... same processor same ram, same camera... what is better?

  • I also encountered bootloop on my LG LEON

  • Sorry to hear, what region is your g5?

  • I read your comment 5 days back and I thought yes this is G5 bootloop must be addressed. My phone is not going to die. But today it entered bootloop and it reminded my your comment and here I'm writing to you and I'm very sad that I lost all the data. I know I'll get the new piece or repaired but data matters most to me, I didn't expect this from LG. Just a word of caution to all users out there, if your phone heats up and shows signs of restarting, then it is time to back up your data as the same happened with me. You never know when it enters bootloop and you will repent at that time as I'm repenting right now. I'll make a video of it and will post on Youtube and will share the link too. And to let all of you know, boot loop issue is there in every mobile starting from G3, G4, G5, V10, V20. It is not encountered in G6, so better be safe and sync your data regularly. There is a class action lawsuit being filed for this by a US firm, google it and you will get all the details.

  • Man v20 is much much more better than g5... G5 is also a preety owsm mble but infront of v20... Its nothing... Even v20 is better than s7.... You should buy v20

  • I got this phone a year ago here in the philippines and it never failed me, I love it until now, I am in nougat last december 2016 and got security update for april and still going strong. I also love LG G6.

  • Got the G5 last month and I must say it's a beast of a phone. The battery life is pretty awesome. I get 4-5 hours of screen on time and I play games on it too. I'm a heavy user by the way. Multitasking on this phone is great and the SD820 handles it very well. It does get warm to the touch after heavy usage. I do get some screen burn on the top and bottom part of the screen. I'm running nougat on the unlocked version. RS988

  • yes I am still waiting

  • I am using it for a month and can assure you that even with moderate gaming it lasts a whole working day giving a screen on time of about 4 to 5 hours

  • Stuck between getting the G5 or V20. I can probably get g5 for $100 less than v20 now. Only drawback is i hear the battery life isn't that good on G5. Is it worth paying the extra 100 for the v20 or is the g5 just as good. I'm a moderate user no games or anything too big.

  • Yes, still waiting for nougat for my LG G5. Someone else does not get it ??

  • After a few days of toying around with the G5 I gotta say that it's a nice phone. I got the AT&T unlocked version from EBAY for around 165 bucks so I didn't pay very much for it and I'm now getting free phone service from FREEDOMPOP. That being said it's a good deal for the price. The SD820 chipset is a little outdated right now with the SD821 and SD835 coming out but it's still a monster for average users. I'm crazy into mobile games so processing power and graphics are very important, and the G5 certainly doesn't disappoint though it's nowhere near the fastest- but then again I paid 165 for it who gives a shit. Thing is the V20 is a lot better. It has better audio and video features and the performance is better, though it uses the same chipset. But you're paying $299 for a scum-of-the-earth used variant from EBAY while the G5 pushes $150 in it's lowest configurations. If you're like me and you don't give much of a shit of anything besides PRICE and PERFORMANCE the G5 is a solid bargain. If you want the best of LG you're getting the V20, and if you want the absolute best but don't give a shit about your burdened wallet then the G6 is the way to go. Personally I had to choose long and hard before choosing the G5 over the S7... Another thing before buying this phone. The bloat is INSANE. I got the AT&T version and it's actually hard to determine which apps are legit and which are not. I hate the fact that you can't uninstall ANY OF IT! Worst part is there's no root for LG G5 available yet- One-click root doesn't work either because the bootloader is locked. The EU and T-MOBILE versions are the only root-compatible ones but I'm pretty darn disappointed I can't root my phone so I can get rid of all that useless crap that AT&T dragged from the deepest pits of hell. If you're into modding or toying around the OS then stay WELL AWAY. VERDICT: Buy it if you're on a serious budget. If you have money to burn then stay away.

  • Does LG G5 have a native video calling option?

  • so,still no nougat update for LG G5?

  • My G5 also still live with 6.0.1 android, I have V10a-EUR-XX. Waiting for nougat.

  • I fkn love this phone, it's a very good phone, camera is awesome especially the wide one, never backed on me never failed me, nougat update is very good but i dont like that pop up notifications for every app and it seems that no one can disable them but i can live with that not a major issue, for a bottom speaker it's very good and clear, screen is beautiful not like samsungs amoled but close, overall very very good phone and i abuse phones alot so this is the best phone now for the price. Peace

  • Any opinion or information about the NOUGAT update for LG G5? Thank you.

  • Hay... if i want to purchase it from u....... What u say I am from Pakistan

  • What is ruined? What do you mean by low duarability? Its a very very good phone. I recommend LG G5 but only IF you find good price.

  • Hi, Many said LG phone durability is low means it ruined quickly, is it true? Actually I want to buy G5, so should i buy it or move for Asus/Mi Brand?

  • Hi! I got the screen retention problem after 8months. Use a blue light filter app from play store. I use one called night filter. It makes everything on screen a bit more red but gets rid of retention 100% for me. Good luck!

  • Enough with the G5 bootloop. Enough. It was LGs with the 808SD processor in 2015 that had the major bootloop problem. Yes there are problems with G5 but bootloop is not prevalent one. IF this was a major problem then I have no doubt that: IF G5 BOOTLOOP WAS MAJOR PROBLEM THEN AT LEAST 50% OF POSTS HERE WOULD BE BOOTLOOP COMPLAINTS! Sorry I'm not yelling at you but I'm just tired of hearing about people talking about G5 bootloop issues here and I don't see complaints from G5 OWNERS about bootlooping. But to answer your question: be more worried that LG G5 has more screen problems than bootloop problems. I owned one since Sept '16. I know 2 others that had one. Screen light bleed and screen retention issues. They upgraded to Android 7 and then phone sucked to use and got did of G5. I am still on Android 6. No bootloop. None of us. Not once. Still awesome phone: fast, extra batteries and wide angle cam is why I still have it... that and waiting until I see v30, iPhone 8 and pixel 2 to upgrade. I recommend G5 IF you get for good price.

  • I Agree With You G5 Great Smartphone I Am Using G5 Last 13 Months But G5 No Any Problum Battry Timing Great Camra Super Stylus Slim Mobile Every Featurs Good , My Think G5 Batter Than I Phone 7 Plus ,and Samsung S7

  • Anyone else bottom module popping out?? I have to push it daily to keep it inside the second part of phone lmao

  • should I get it for 330 $USD? :v

  • I couldn't agree more with you savor the G5 is overlooked and absolutely underrated indeed and yet it is a brilliant smartphone and I find that mine can handle anything I throw at it without it breaking a sweat and I would absolutely recommend this phone to anyone without a hesitation. I simply love the design of this phone with the removable battery,I think it's genius and yet alot of people think it's rubbish but at least LG pulled it off whereas all the other companies just seal there phones and yeah the G6 is sealed now but the G5 is special because of the removable battery option.

  • After more than three months, still my favorite smartphone I have ever used. V20 does have a better screen and battery life but I still prefer the design, size, and the louder external speaker of my G5. I use my G5 mostly as a media player for songs, videos, and games. There is no sim in it since my Sprint variant can't read my Verizon sim and can't get data with the T-Mobile. Only calls and texts with TMo. But I usually bring it with me because it holds all my media files and to play games like Ninja Arashi. Typing on my G5 right now and still smoother than my SD820 S7 edge. The PS Vita of smartphones. Great but simply overlooked and criminally underrated.

  • I want to buy this... Is any bootloop issue in this device?? Any user got bootloop?

  • I have both.. Go for the LG G5 if you want a replaceable battery because after a year the battery does degrade especially if you use quick charging alot and also the G5 has excellent battery life in my opinion compared to the htc 10 and also if you want a always on display which the htc 10 doesn't have but once you get use to using the always on display it's invaluable. The screen is also bigger on the G5 also and it's nice and clear and the software experience on the G5 I think makes every day operations quicker to do. Go for the htc 10 if you want better sound for watching videos and listening to music from the speakers on the phone and also if you want excellent build quality and also if you like to customize your phone using the htc software but the battery life is not the best on the htc 10 in my opinion and the screen is smaller than the G5 also but it is better for colours and brightness. To be fair I would go with the G5 because I use mine as my daily driver whereas my htc 10 is more of a back up phone now.

  • After reading all reviews and opinions here I can say LG g5 is a good phone. I'm looking forward to buy it . It would be my first Android flagship. But I'm stuck between HTC 10 and g5. Please help me..

  • I got it, thank you, I never thought of this having in my LG G5.

  • Hello my friends! I want to buy Lg G5 but I heard from many people that has screen problems such as screen retention...so this made me to think about it. I need your advice, how this problem can be solved and if it still be there after the update! Thanks :)

  • I didn't have Google assistant on my G5 in the UK but I changed my main language to English (United States) and now I have it. Just posting this if anyone doesn't have it on there G5 you could do what I did and you should get the assistant.

  • Note.. now it charges faster

  • pls any one sugest me how to enable volte in my lg g5 v20-ame-xx

  • Build quality is not that great. I mean its corners where you clip in the mods are not perfect so they hurt you when you use it

  • Update received 630mb, no changes visually but, it works faster and smoothly, and battery life looks better now

  • Finally i got the nougat update late in india.but the update makes my phone so much aweosome .battery life awsme.ui awsme. I love lg g5 designed.best sound quality with dac.best camera. I think this the best phone ever lg made. I used my phone all day nd charge onlthis my 5th phone from lg 1.lg g 2. g2 best phone 3.g3 best quad hd screen.best camera 4.v10 best build quality and sound .shock resistant.camera 5.lg g5 best camera.best sound quality best build quality best phone ever

  • Isnt it your fault???? DONT BLAME LG for its your fault!

  • help! my g5 cant mount my flash drive via usb c to usb a adaptor.

  • Pros: Performance, camera Cons: Build quality, screen leaking, fragile screen, back button I bought my LG G5 after owning a LG G3 which I wasn't satisified with (LG service center replaced my motherboard and battery 3 times in 3 years for free ). I gave LG another shot because everyone was saying that their new G5 is the best android phone available at that moment. First day I used it the performance was great, it looked cool, although I was a bit suspicious of it's build quality. The third day my back button just stopped working out of nowhere so I had to use double click on the screen to unlock / lock my phone. A week later my mobile phone fell from my pocket to a hardwood floor and the screen broke. I paid for the new screen and they fixed my back button with no questions asked for free so I think it's a problem they often have. After I repaired the phone I dropped it again after 3 days and the screen broke in the exact same place. I mean, I know your phone isn't supposed to hit the floor, but if the screen breaks every time the mobile phone hits something and in the exact same place, that's a matter of build quality and it's silly to sell a high end mobile phone with such a fragile screen. Now I'm on my way to return the phone and I will never buy any electronic device from LG again because I gave them a chance and they disappointed me.

  • Pros: Performance is great, camera is great, display is great, battery is removable, fast charging is incredible. Cons: Battery life is poor, build quality is poor, ghost screen problem still exists, no equalizer in 2017 (LG pls..), bottom of the phone doesn't fit very well, speakers aren't loud enough.

  • Got a software update for my G5 last night in the uk of 600 plus mb,software number V20f-234-30. Phone seems faster but otherwise I can't seem to see any other differences.

  • Only solution is to replace the faulty display.I too have this problem and changed the display now problem gone but now i have several scratches on my phone .Think twice before giving it to service center.

  • Build quality excellent are you kidding?just after using the headphone its paint will out.material used in it is cheap...Just search it on youtube .

  • Hey , how long have you been using the phone ? is it worth buying now, as the price has significantly fallen after the release of LG G6.

  • Image ghost issue found just after 8 months and got repaired by service center but several scratches on my lg g5 after service pathetic service.I will never ever buy lg phone because of customer support and the service they provide.Guys think twice before purchasing lg phone..

  • Yes

  • i love my new phone after not having one for almost 10 years. my last phone was an lg and i hated to part with it but it was not repairable. glad it wasn't, i have a lot to learn on this one. i love it.

  • Great phone for price, Excellent camera, Great performance, Built Quality is not that great compared to that price range and other flagships And also poor battery life.

  • Up! for this comment.

  • Great phone with absolute great performance. The design is industrial inspired and the build quality is excellent. I'm not mentioning any names but it stand toe to toe with other flagship models.

  • Will VS987 Verizon model work on HSPDA or GSM network band.

  • Charging has stopped after the update.

  • i have lg g5 indian version h860 and i am update my phone 7.0 and now its awesome

  • Hi, Any problem after update?

  • What is screen overlay? never heard of it.

  • Volte workin after nougat update?? Image retention still persists??

  • Opps, there is no insurance on intentional clumsiness.

  • I had came across one massive design flaw with the g5 that I haven't found mentioned anywhere else. I'm quite a clumsy person with phones and try to combat this with thick cases and glass screen protector, but due to the curved design of the top of the phones screen which is also glass. I couldn't use a case or a screen protector to keep it safe. Due to this as soon as it landed a small tumble, it cracked right over the front facing camera and the crack continued down under the screen protector and damaged the screen. Just something to consider before buying a g5, remember to get insurance.

  • received Nougat update yesterday.

  • LG G5 H860 nougat update OTA available in India

  • only issue im encountering right now is the screen overlay. i thought it was a screen burn at first but it is different with screen overlay. screen overlay can be removed temporarily by restarting the phone but still after using a couple of apps, it comes back again. hoping for fix

  • Don't use screen dimmers or chek all the other apps conflicting screen related and most important update to 7.0

  • Does the dual sim variant LG G5 in India supports VOLTE??

  • Can anyone suggest me permanent solution for my LG G5 issue issue is "SCREEN OVERLAY DETECTED" I have tried some online tricks but no use please help me on the issue

  • The boot loop problem was the G4 and hysteria has made it be prevalent to other lg phones and the chances of you picking up a G5 with boot loop are very slim indeed, like winning the lottery chances with it. I have had a G5 5 months now and it's a excellent device and it's my daily driver also and I do have a Htc 10 but that ain't as good as my G5,no way. My G5 has had zero problems and it works perfectly and sure the build quality isn't brilliant but I have mine in a love mei case anyways so I don't see that so it doesn't bother me but as far as I'm concerned I love the ability to replace the battery and the always on display is brilliant and it's very hard to go to another phone that doesn't have a always on display. I absolutely recommend the G5 and I would honestly say if I thought it was rubbish but it's a very good smartphone

  • I'm in dire need of an upgrade...and I'm in love with the G5 but all this boot loop speculation has me terrified to own one. Can an owner of one provide me with a second opinion on whether I should get one?

  • It is normal, I think since it implies that you are using 2.2MBps. => 528MB / (4 min * 60 secs) This implies good detail for each frame.

  • Yeah. Then the phone you're looking for is called the LG V20. Bigger battery. And bigger screen. It has 2 screens actually. ;D I actually would have bought it as an upgrade but the thing really is huge but it feels like it could take a beating. But the G5 has better low light front cam. Yeah, I take a lot of group selfies at the bar and at parties. Yeah we vain and phone companies know it ;P

  • Pretty sick phone. Should have been made with a larger screen and a bigger battery. Beautiful screen, though, for an IPS. A million times better than the G4.

  • Been using lg g5 . Awesome phone. I have a question though. About the camera. I selected video recording FHD60P. I recorded 4 mins video and the size was 528mb. Soo large. Is this normal. Any response bout this guys.

  • Always do a factory reset after updating the firmware. It will fix your problem. Gl

  • Same issue encountered even though my G5 is a dual standby.

  • It is because the H820 model does not support dual sims. only the H860N does.

  • Been using my G5 since 9 this morning when it was at 100% battery and I'm currently at 4 hours screen on time at half 9 at night with 5% battery left. Not bad to be fair for the size of the battery the G5 has.

  • I agree

  • my lg g5 h820 cant support dual sim........... when i insert a sim card into the second slot only the network signal bars show but network doesn't work and when i insert two sims simultaneously only the sim one works................... help will be appreciated guys, thanks

  • Last night, the V20 initially lagged during setup and got hot. Probably has to do with all the bloated T-Mobile apps downloading. Happened to my S7 edge setup too. Probably a TMo thing. This did NOT happened to my G5 or Pixel though. I noticed the micro-lag early on when browsing. Then I did the typical 0.5x animations, turned off auto update in Google Play settings and auto sync, rid of Facebook, installed SwiftKey, and everything is pretty smooth now. I do believe the G5 is more sensitive to my touch. Will install Nova Prime later and see how it goes. I really didn't think I would like the huge screen but ever since I got my Note 3 has a hand me down just six months ago, I got used to these "surfboard" phones pretty quickly. Typing on my 5" phones like the Pixel feels kinda cramped now. Hopefully, the V20 will be a pretty great phone like the G5 and Pixel are. Those two seem a tad smoother than it so far. I could return it in two weeks for a refund but there is a $50 restocking fee. I already like typing on it far more than the annoying S7 edge curved display. I don't like where LG is headed this year and going for sealed battery on flagships. V30 might go sealed. Removable battery, ftw! G5 and V20 could be the last of their breed among flagships. Both underrated af too. The image retention on my G5 does not bother me at all and goes away. I like the second screen. I put the Philippines flag emoji from SwiftKey along with my name (???'s) and LG V20. Pure smoothness 1. Pixel 2. G5 3. V20 Comfort 1. G5 2. Pixel 3. V20 Design 1. G5 2. V20 3. Pixel Haven't tested the battery or camera yet on the V20 but I expect it to be pretty good. Speaker sound is pretty good to on par with G5 which makes it louder than S7e and Pixels. Haven't tested the internal audio yet but I did like it having a FM radio app. My G5 needed a third-party FM radio app and can only hear from the headphones. No speaker mode. Don't like NextRadio. Too many ads. I see comments saying the G5, V20, and Pixel are all UGLY. LOL! Those users missed out on the meaning of life! I actually get alot more attention with them than the common Samsungs. G5, V20, and Pixel are far more rare where I live. I prefer owning phones not everybody has. Within just a day, I can already sense I will enjoy V20 far more than the overrated S7 edge.

  • I do love my G5 but I admit I do miss the big screen of my G4 and especially the v10 I had and I was considering getting the uk version of the G6 but now I don't think I'll bother what with it having no 64gb of memory and no high power DAC and not even wireless charging and obviously it having no removable battery I do hate also. I can get a V20 for alot less than the G6 and it has way more features also, plus obviously the removable battery.

  • Hello Guy. I just want to ask do i have to turn on something in the settings to have my OTG be read by the G5? I just bought a USAMS type c adaptor and used my old flash drive but its not being read. as in no response at all. I don't know if the adaptor is not compatible or the format is not supported or other reasons.

  • Exactly. Removable battery which used to be a standard has now become a luxury along with having headphone jack or flat display I just got a V20 like 30 minutes ago! Titan grey but it looks more matte black to me. I was supposed to use the $528 rebate card I got in the mail to pay off the S7 edge instead. I ended up getting a 10th phone and 5th one with removable battery for $538 total ($480 + extra upgrade fee and taxes) I think this V20 is security in case I sell off my S7 edge this weekend. I love LG. We will see how this goes with my T-Mobile sim going to the V20. The Sprint G5 is my gaming and browser phone. Pixel is my Verizon. Just couldn't enjoy curved display and laggy Samsung software. V20 is set to be in my Top 3. Kinda having G5 and V20 is redundant but I don't care. Removable battery is a must for me. A peace of mind for the longer run. Great - G5 Pixel V20? Solid - Mi 3 G3 Beat Moto E2 Note 3 Lumia 640 Laggy - One M7 S7 edge

  • sealed but lasts way more than lg g5 without reboot.jokes are still on you lol

  • again this guys has a faulty knocked off s7 e...Lol i use exynos varient 128 gb black pearl s7e and its 200 times more premium looker than g5

  • Had the g3 and just upgraded to the G5. Such a good phone! Keeping the screen brightness down helped with temperature and also battery life. Very long battery life and it also runs very smooth. Huge fan of this phone.

  • I personally think that the G5 is a great phone and in the 5 months I've had it I have had zero problems with it and I always use quick charging to top up the battery and I like having the peace of mind that quick charging I know will kill the battery in the long run but I can simply replace it so who cares whereas with my HTC 10 which I have had nearly a year now I have never used quick charging once with it cause I don't want to kill the battery on it. There's so much to be said for replacing the battery at a much later time like I could do with my G4 or V10.

  • just Got Mine! Im happy with it. Coming from a G3. I love how simple the UI looks like. I'm not saying that these model is supreme to s7 edge or what but I definitely the G5 has its pros and cons. also the s7 edge has its pros and cons. its all about the preference of the user. I'm using this mobile as 1 of my daily driver (I also own iphone 6s plus) and I love both. although the battery life of lg g5 is poor compared to the iphone 6s plus, that's why you have a battery back up charged in your bag.

  • Sealed battery and glass rear is not what I call long lasting premium to me.

  • S7 edge is a useless tool. Glad to be selling mine this week. Terrible, laggy software. Lame curved display. Just be duped by Samsung's awful software experience because it happens to be pretty. As if glass rears prone to cracks, scratches, and fingerprints like glossy plastic is supposed to be "premium"? LOL My G5 does have image retention. I noticed it last night since my wallpaper is gray and noticed more near the notification shade. But it actually went away. Doesn't really bother me at all. I remember having dead pixels and stuck ones on my Sony PSP phat model. Didn't care. Guess I am not as OCD like some of you. As long as my G5 works well and is smooth, I really don't mind the image retention. And yes, I did use a few blue light filter apps. Stuff like that just doesn't bother me. But a laggy software experience with a curved display that freezes or stutters, that really does bothers me. S7 edge is a gimmicky phone for fashionistas. I can never enjoy using it as much as my G5 and Pixel. Going to sell my S7 edge for $380 and Note 3 for $120. Use $200 to gamble on the Kentucky Derby. If I have some extra money, maybe within a couple of weeks I will get a Sony Xperia XZ. Sony over Samsung any day. Never again with curved display and laggy software. Planning to keep my G5 for life thanks to removable battery. It's design actually draws people's attention since almost anyone owns an iPhone or edge phone.

  • for me lg g5 is just a tool and s7e is a long lasting tool along with premium ownership..

  • MG. S7 edge is just a f...ng attraction, never had any interesting features as it has on LG G5. LG G5 is the most underestimated phone in 2016 but the truth is it one the most capable phone of its lifetime.

  • this guys has a faulty knocked off s7 e...Lol i use exynos varient 128 gb black pearl s7e and its 200 times more premium looker than g5 and tops in battery endurance cause of its 3600 mah battery otherwise ui performance is almost equal ...but i like the theme support on my s7e better than my lg g5.

  • Typing on my LG G5 right now and still loving it. Doesn't even have a sim inside anymore since this Sprint G5 (which is unlocked for both domestic and international) can't get T-Mobile data and zero signal with Verizon. My G5 is still fast and smooth after two months. I wouldn't be interested in the G6 because I don't like sealed battery, glass rear, and no IR blaster. I relegated my S7 edge into a pocket Wi-Fi device. I hate using it to type and the lag is downright annoying. Anyone on the fence, don't listen to the haters and harshest critics. They complained about build quality, mods, or ugly rear when G5 is an excellent device. My silver G5 doesn't show fingerprints either like my S7e. Looks stylish with the front next to the G6. One of the best gadgets I have ever owned. 1. LG G5 2. Google Pixel 3. Xiaomi Mi 3 4. Motorola Moto E 4G 5. LG G3 Beat 6. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 7. Microsoft Lumia 640 8. HTC One M7 9. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge ^ The lag and curved display palm rejection on the S7e is really, really awful on it. Overrated af. Overheats too just by downloading with TubeMate. So disappointed by the so-called best smartphone of 2016, that I might sell it soon. Samdung experience. I just haven't found a good phone I would want to make into my T-Mobile line. Don't like iPhone. Don't need a V20 since it seems redundant having a G5 already. Don't want Xiaomi because of the Mi Suite and not compatible to my MacBook Air. Not into HTC 10. Might end up with OnePlus or Sony. I also like how my G5 can be recognized with my MBA with Android File Transfer. My Pixel and Mi 3 can't. G5 and Pixel are still BY FAR the best phones I ever used. HTC One M7 and S7 edge might look better than both but design doesn't matter to me if they aren't reliable and are laggy. G5 is an example to not always listen to the critics.

  • For me personally I find the G5 to be a excellent smartphone and for those who are considering it I'd say go for it you won't be disappointed. My G5 is connected to a Samsung gear s3 and it works perfectly with no problems at all,I can make calls and text threw the watch even though the G5 is a none Samsung phone and my G5 never reboots or slows down at all and it just makes everything easy plus the replaceable battery is excellent. I do also have a HTC 10 connected to a lg G watch r and that's good also what with android bein connected with Android wear and I do swap between the two phones on occasion but I admit my G5 just does everything better compared to the HTC 10 but overall for me personally the G5 is the winner and I admit I do think my next phone will be the G6 even though I lose the replacement battery option. The G5 is one of the best phones I've ever had and I will always keep my perfectly working one no matter what phones I buy in the future.

  • I have the dual sim LG G5. I received a software update (around 600MB) and installed it 2 days ago. So far, I have noticed a 'little' improvement on the battery life though the issue with image retention is still there but thanks to sFilter (by Siso Mobile) so far it kinda remedy the issue. You can set the opacity and dim to 15%.

  • Today i update my lg g5.that was 600+ mb and after install the update i feel my phone turning into a piece of lava or like that.seriously it's become hot soo quickly and that was 41°. So friends i want ask you that is there any update goes to your lg g5 recently.if goes then reply me about hot🔥.

  • I never wanted G6 anyway once it went with a sealed battery and glass rear. If the rumors are true and the V30 becomes waterproof too like the V34 and no removable battery, then I will pick up a V20 for cheap by then. I was given a free spare battery and charging (coffin) cradle when I got my G5 two months ago. I know it willl degrade just being inside its package but I still have a peace of mind knowing I can use my G5 longer than my Pixel or S7e. When I post comments here, I rotate between 5 different phones. I commented using my G5 and Pixel earlier today. Typing on my S7e right now. Man, it sucks! Laggy and so annoying with the palm rejection. Night and day difference from my other two. Thinking of selling it to get the OP3T and iPhone SE ($150 w/ Boost Mobile) but will miss the waterproofing, good wide angle selfie cam, and VR movie experience with it. Planning to keep my G5 for life though like my Xiaomi Mi 3 which still runs smooth after three years. 2017 Nokia 9 LG V30 Sony Xperia XZ Premium 2018 Pixel 3 Ewww to iPhone 8 and Note8. Restrictive OS or poor usability and ergonomics.

  • It doesn't improve software quality but it helps you steady your hand for video since there is something to grip. My friend had one and returned it. $80 wasn't worth the external buttons. There is only one colour and the thing wasn't pretty or "must have" But it did have a 1200 mah battery boost in it. But for 80 CAD she just bought a selfie stick and a backup battery kit.

  • After replacing power button, I factory reset using settings and everything was smooth again. Good luck!

  • how to move apps to sd in lg g5 without root?

  • the Cam plus device, does it improve the photo/video quality or its just to ease the use with extra buttons?

  • Do factory reset through settings menu( backup and reset) right? Not through hard rest(pressing vol down and power button)

  • I just installed the April patch on my G5 nougat, here in the philippines. The size is 640 mb. FYI

  • I just installed the April patch on my G5 nougat, here in the philippines. The size is 640 mb. FYI

  • After reset your phone will stay on nougat. And factory data reset should be good, imo.

  • Okay. Sticking to my G5 until V30, new Pixel or even new iPhone come out later this year. My friend has owned G6 only less than 10 days but still that battery life... meh. Its pretty much same as my G5 when I look at her useage. she gets 4-4.5 hours screen time with about 15hrs use. Turns off location unless need gps, 50-60 brightness and non-gamer but she listens to music, and is a IG, FB and YouTube kind of chick. So G6 is pretty slick but not enough of upgrade for me and S8 is nice to hold and see and I wanted to buy the s8plus for increased battery... but terrible fingerprint sensor location for design "symmetry" , camera is tiny update, and that damned Bixby button forcing its way onto that phone? No thanks. Ill wait.

  • Just updated to nougat. I want to do factory reset to clear trash in phone memory. Will it revert back to marshmallow? Whats the best option.? Reset through the settings menu(back up and reset) or through recovery mode? Thanks for the reply

  • Hi, i will buy one shortly and wanted to know if removing the bottom part frequently will cause it to be loose afterward. also, compared to s7, how is the camera quality?

  • I noticed a hint of lag on my G5 when typing on this dialog box using Opera Mini and this site is on its mobile version. I noticed my Xiaomi Mi 3 seems to type faster. All is corrected now. I just downgraded my SwiftKey back to 6.0.x and not 6.5.x. Now it types beautifully. Even updating apps can mess things up like it does with updating firnware. Texting experience is very important to me. Even moreso than cameras and RAM management. This is why I love AND hate my S7 edge at the same time. That pronounced curves and palm rejection is downright annoying. I will likely downgrade my SwiftKey on all my other phones and lose the country flags emojis but the S7 edge will still have the lag and frustrating palm rejection where nothing inputs. For SwiftKey lovers, stay at around 6.0.x. Sometimes older is better. Oldie but goodie. My G5 still on Marshmallow rocks even better now. Typing on this flat screen is so fast and smoooth!

  • Use night screen overlay. it prevents image retention but dims the display.

  • You are so correct. I also suffered with image retention after 2 month of usage. Unfortunately i couldn't do any thing as i bought the device without hardware warrenty. Idid a factory reset but the issue is exsist. I'm pretty sure it is a hardware issue. Finally i sold the device to a cheap price. I have heard this problem is common on g5,v10,v20. Looks like they never gonna recall. So i advise not to by lg smartphone.

  • Pls tell me version name like v10-xx... Something like that.and ur model number.

  • Did u updated to nougat.if yes what was the version name ??Plz tell me...

  • Hear hear! I can't go back to HTC though because after owning a Nexus One and HTC One M7 for a few years, I don't find HTC as reliable as LG from my personal experience. It is something with the Taiwanese like HTC and ASUS products that always gives me hardware issues in the longer run. Luckily my made in Taiwan Pixel is still holding up but who knows after a year or two? HTC 10 is a good phone but I need that wide-angle lens, removable battery, IR blaster, and FM radio. But my favorite design of all-time will always be with either my HTC One M7 or Nexus One. I still have a photo with both next to each other along with an iPhone 4. All were sold off although I did rebuy a second-hand M7 for $60 a month ago. I am just luckier with Lucky Goldstar than I am with Hi Tech Computer. The irony is I didn't get an LG smartphone until 2015. They were one of the last phone brands I tried out and they turned out better for me than ones from Samsung, Apple, and HTC. My Fantastic Final Four from trying out 14 different brands is Nokia, Motorola, LG, and now Google.

  • The G5 is so underrated indeed whilst the S7 Edge is made out to be the best but I just think that after a year I can replace the battery in my G5 and it be like new whilst the battery will be knackered in the Samsung phone and its just gona become a paperweight. For me my G5 does everything I want it to with no difficulty,no slow down at all no matter what I throw at it and I do have a Htc 10 also but it cannot compete with the G5. The HTC 10 has rubbish battery life and it needs constant charging especially with me bein a heavy user also but I do love the customisation of the HTC OS but my G5 is just better at doing every day tasks. I have had the HTC m7,m8,m9 and I do reckon the HTC 10 is the best of them all though.

  • Been only two months with mine and haven't experienced much lag or stutter like the Galaxy S7 edge (SD820). Just saw a camera test with the G6 and it seems kinda bleh. Oversaturated colors. It did beat the G5 in some night shots from another comparison. Waiting on the V30. If LG decides to have a sealed battery, then I will stick to the Pixel from here on out for future upgrades. Or even Nokia. HMD Global still has the DNA of Nokia, so haters can stop saying Nokia and HMD aren't related. Just because Jon Snow isn't a Stark by name doesn't mean he wasn't raised like one. Love my G5 though. No palm rejection nonsense while typing. I usually bring 3 or 4 phones while I work as a Dasher. G5 is used for gaming and browsing. Pixel is used for DoorDash phone and Wi-Fi hotspot. Moto E2 is used for GPS. Have to conserve battery for the Pixel since it acts like a hotspot all day. Only Pixel is more fluid in UI than the G5. The S7 edge cannot compare to both. My Mi 3 is smoother than it. Just leave S7e at home or sometimes if I want to bring my Gear VR during down times. I don't like glass rears, curved displays, or Samsung's laggy (over time) skin. S7 edge is so overrated while G5 is so underrated.

  • I have been using my G5 nearly 5 months now and for me it's proving to be one of the best phones I've ever had and yeah the build quality isn't the best but I keep it in a love mei case anyways so it doesn't matter and the battery life on nougat for me is excellent and I have had zero problems with the update but I did do a factory reset after updating the phone to clear out all the rubbish in the memory. I do love the G6 and also the Samsung S8 but I think my next phone is going to be a imported V20 into the UK. I would highly recommend the G5 because of the removable battery and that overall it's a really excellent but underrated smartphone.

  • Yes it is possible

  • try installing blue light filter. Best one and effective so far (as I am using it now) is sFilter by Siso Mobile.

  • Thanks, man! Great info! Planning to just get a V20 instead if the V30 goes curved display and sealed battery. Really not into updating the software for any of my phones. I think the original firmware it came with usually just works for me. Android has been mature enough for me since KitKat. Will keep my G5 with MM forever then. Quit while I am still ahead. Since I already cut off my Sprint line, I wouldn't be bothered with the update notifications either. I have no issues with Nougat since my Pixel and S7e are on it. But I find updating firmware like a crapshoot. Some devices works better, some won't. My eight Android phones (+ Lumia 640) - KitKat - LG G3 Beat (dual sim & rooted), HTC One M7 Lollipop - Motorola Moto E2, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Marshmallow - Xiaomi Mi 3, LG G5 Nougat - Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Oreo (licensed name)? Pie? No rush with updating. I keep a couple of phones for each firmware since KitKat. Nokia 8 or 9 for me if I can get stock Android like "O" right away. Then Pixel 3 for Android P. Third or fifth generation (#3 and #5) of most devices is usually the best ones for me. Thanks again!

  • When i first updated my g5 to N it was laggy for the first few weeks or month. But now it is fine. It will b fine to update now

  • how to move apps to sd card? is it possible?

  • This is a great phone.. the only problem is the image retention/display shadow.. After using a couple of months. The problem presented. At first, LG replaced the screen when I went to their service center. but the problem reoccured. and now they're saying that it's a software issue. which I don't believe at all. I believe that they're just trying to mask the hardware issue for displays. If it's a software problem. they should have addressed it long ago. Very disappointed with LG regarding the issue of their display. I believe they're trying to avoid recalls just what like happend to samsung galaxy note, they're just trying to save face. Very disappointing.

  • **I still get 4.5~5hrs screen time as a modereate user /non gamer. 50%brightness. My friend on N is the same just gets about 1.5 hr extra battery life than me.

  • Hi. I refused to update since I heard bad things about android N on this phone. I know 2 others who had a G5 and upgraded. One said it was good for the features and other than that battery life stayed the same just a wee bit better if she just left it alone. She has been on N for over 2mos now. My other buddy sold his G5 b/c battery life dropped badly and it got hot while charging or other demanding games and videos. Says he loved G5 for gaming and had 12-14hrs use even though he was a gamer. After N was down to 9-10 hrs and running hot. I'm glad I didn't update b/c I already got burned by updating old G4. Had screen time of 4hrs reduced to 3hrs after update to MM for G4. Sold it a month later b/c it never got better and heard it would not see N to fix battery sucking. I still love my G5 and will not update. If I sell it I will let the new owner update if they want. Just my opinion and experiences by 2 other G5 owners so just Google if you need more opinions too. Good luck :]

  • Hy its faisal am user of Lg g5 Model h860.. Please help any one used wireless charging on lg g5 and if yes then plz share the ans and tell me about charging speed and model which one used and range about charging

  • Hi everyone! I bought a unlocked lg g5 US AT&T Unlocked) currently I am using this phone in India and here I am not able to connect Tethering hotspot , it says Tethering authentication failed . Is there any work around to fix this issue or I have lost this option after unlocking this phone. Thanks!

  • Did u use s7/ iphone 7

  • Just got this phone an hour ago. Can't figure it out at all.

  • Agree with u

  • I was "upgraded" to this phone when my V10 broke. Asurion assured me it was comparable. I used mine mainly for the camera and internet browsing and texting. I like the slim design, nice looking, comfortable to hold, nice sized screen and good battery life. However, the camera doesn't come close to the v10, memory is absolutely a joke and every time it updates I need to delete or disable another app to make room for it; I can't even update emails until I "make room". Too many apps they automatically added that I dont use, yet I can't delete them... So I'm constantly trying to reprioritize the ones I want, because they're the only ones I can delete (that's why I left iphone! I wanted to make my own choices, not be forced to use what the manufacturer thinks I should user). Finally, I have had to resort to using my iphone for calls because this phone constantly thinks it's roaming and out of country in my own backyard. Verizon can't figure it out and attributes it to the phone, which I am assuming must be the case because my work iphone is, and my previous V10 was on the same Verizon network. Maybe its because Asurion gave me a poorly refurbed phone... All I do know is I hate it.

  • you are too far in the futur with you 30m charging

  • HY this model it,s fantastic , better than lg g6 samsung s7 s7 edge and iphone 7 and 7 +

  • How is SOT between MM v N? I decided to stay on MM 6.0.1 with my G5 although I easily could have updated to 7. But I read Nougat eats up a little more RAM and slightly more battery life. My G5 has the worst standby time vs my S7e and Pixel both on Nougat but it isn't that bad at 2% overnight and SOT is decent. I wanted the new and improved Doze but decided against it. I like the notification system and settings menu better on the G5. I didn't want Nougat to change it as well as I didn't want to lose the Flappy Android Easter egg. Nougat is fine on both my S7e and Pixel but I wouldn't say I noticed a huge difference between it vs G5 on Marshmallow. G5 on MM is pretty smooth already. Curious if G5 on N improves battery life though.

  • Do not update,my recommendation. I downgraded to marshmallow by visiting LG service center. Nougat is very irritating. Battery issue, play store app update issue in roaming mobile data network.

  • The fact is LG does not want to invest time and resources in G5 because its previous year's model. It's their responsibility to fix issues anyhow and update flagship devices on time.

  • I'm trying to update thru LG Bridge but at first step itself, it says it can't be upgraded ? In USB connection I selected as File Transfer method...

  • I was not able to update via LG Bridge. It always says, update can not be downloaded. Did you also face similar issues?

  • Already updated to nougat 7.0 in february. Lg india did not push ota update. Due to nougat has many issues on G5. You can check update via LG bridge software. I also updated via LG bridge software.

  • I had received the update last month and was very thrilled by the performance. You can update via lg bridge software. You will surely enjoy using Android N on you LG G5.

  • Very happy. The only issue. It sometimes heats a lots even when no app is running or is on charging. My query is when H860N - India will get Android N update ?

  • **on DARKER screen images** ...not "farmers" ;D

  • I had the HTC 10 for a week why I chose to return and keep G5: All cameras seemed better and wide angle is awesome, rear finger print coupled with knock knock code, IR blaster, charges to 100 way faster, 5hrs screen on time, and number one reason: Replaceable battery. And I actually don't have any modules but in all honesty what an amazing concept to have a removeable chin. I spilled beer on my LG and had to replace my power button. But then... Just recently I guess the liquid damage finally reared its ugly head again and my charging port and speaker were working on and off. Unreliable and frustrating. But then... It was a $20 solution. I bought a new chin on online and no more problems. Even the clips to the battery were solid again. So yeah I'm still loving my G5... But then again... I also still hate seeing the lightbleed on farmers screen images. Meh. Ill still keep her as a backup when I upgrade though ;D Here. Check out this discussion: Alright good luck!

  • I have both and my G5 beats the HTC 10 hands down for battery life and also the always on display is extremely useful and it just does everything really well but the HTC 10 has slightly better sound and build quality and customisation but its battery life is rubbish. Personally I'd say get the G5

  • Lg doesn't care to reply even when u ask about this on their offcial twitter handle. I don't see any hopes of update coming in near future.

  • anyone received Nougat update in India for LG G5? looks like so much of delay...

  • The only reason there customer care have is that nougat is not stable. How come other OEMs are releasing it? The fact is LG wants to promote its new launches which have Nougat pre installed. Hence they don't care to update the existing ones. Pathetic customer service . Don't buy LG

  • I want to buy new phone but can't decide between g5 and HTC 10

  • Its a flagship model and still they have not released android 7 update in india .disappointed

  • have tried a lot of blue light filter to remedy the screen burn but only so far has worked! Been using it for 3 months now and been working perfectly. Just search it in Google Play store sFilter. :)

  • It fits hand perfectly, i guess 5.5 screen would make it use much harder one handed. 5.3 is probably best in terms of one hand usage

  • How to find first stock rom v10a-222-10? I got update 425mb when I turn on phone after unpacking first time. Camera update... My phone on vodafone network and free sim. Im from Serbia. Now version of rom v10b-222-10.

  • I did a camera shootout last night and my LG G5 came out on top over the yellowish tints of my S7e and Pixel! I said it before, G5 is my favorite smartphone of all-time. It may not look much, but its got it where it counts. G5 is probably the closest to my perfect smartphone. I got the Sprint one which has the FM radio enabled unlike the other carrier branded ones. It has IR blaster and microSD slot up to 2TB. At 5.3", easy and fast to type on in portrait mode. Software is like 98% fluid as my Pixel while Samsung is about 75% before it starts to stutter again after a day or two. Every time I look at my 3-year old Xiaomi Mi 3 with its severely degraded sealed battery, I smile at my G5 for offering removable and a free spare one I kept inside its package. Even if the screen quite dimmer, I prefer the colder IPS from it than the oversaturated, fake colors of AMOLED. What I learned is never to get a curved display ever again. I had trouble just typing the letter "L" on this S7e using my right thumb. Never trust these dbrand-sponsored reviewers. The camera on the Samsung is like their displays. Produces fake colors. And never go under 5.3" and get a phone with a sealed battery. G5 was the easiest to repair last year with 8/10 iFixit score. LG V30 could be my next phone if they offer removable battery, SD835, and smaller footprint than the V20. I am aware many people have had bad luck with LG and the bootloops. Doesn't apply to me. I love LG. Been lucky so far with Lucky Goldstar! G5 stands alone now as my favorite phone ever breaking its tie with the Pixel after its slightly disappointing camera from last night. Closest to phone perfection from my experience owning many brands of phones. LG G5 fan for life!

  • I'm experiencing burn in on my lg g5. When exposed to bright sunlight, the phone ditch from dim to bright instantly and cannot function for 3 seconds. it all happens after my update to nougat. Any suggestions?

  • I'd love to get a G6 to replace my G5 but in the united kingdom Lg are shafting there customers good and proper by selling the G6 with no wireless charging or high powered DAC and for £700. The G6 won't sell well here at all, think I'll go for the S8 or import a V20

  • Not worth it unless you do the 50% deal with Sprint but you have to be stuck with them for 24 months and doesn't include the taxes and activation fees. But if the design and camera appeals to you enough, then wait for a permanent price drop in a few months. You can probably find sweet deals for it at under $400 by then while some of the the early bugs and glitches would be squashed. I don't hate the G6. I actually wouldn't mind getting one but too much overkill and it doesn't offer me anything new I don't have with my trio of 2016 flagships. 2016 G5 Pixel S7 edge 2017 V30 Nokia 8 iPhone Edition or Note8 I want something a little different fron each phone I plan to buy.

  • I agree G6 is not enough of an upgrade but it is a very pretty phone. It feels pretty good to hold like a big smaller bezel and nicer screen iphone 5s. Tall and narrow. Yeah ill wait for more reviews for battery vs s8plus. As for camera, idk. I tested it in the mall and it looked way better than my g5 especially the wideangle. But then again it was really bright in there and probably because of better screen... Man wow dat screen doe! And at a carrier caled Freedom in Canada it is 839 CAD outright. About 627 USD / 591 EUR. At the g5 release last year for same carrier, G5 was 850 CAD outright. Wow! ...still going to hold back. But seriously tempted...

  • Thanks for answering!! :] I looked it up on ebay and it looks 1/2 price of lifeproof. But ughs. If no covering fingerprint ill have to pass and probably spend for lifeproof. I already replaced fingerprint due to liquid damage and i rotate through 3 batteries and the love case uses screws (no pun intended ;D) to keep it closed but good to know there are options.

  • Be content owning a G5 because the G6 seems to have issues or hardly an upgrade over its predecessor - Snapdragon 821, an SoC that OP3T and Pixels uses. Battery life about the same. Gorilla Glass 3 on both sides and more smudge magnet than the G5. Camera quality is reportedly worse and disappointing on the G6 than on the G5. LG sold out to the masses by removing swappable batteries for waterproofing and wireless charging. G6 is basically a 2016 flat version of the Galaxy S8 or what I wished the Pixel looks like. G5 just never got the love it truly deserved. Wait for the V30 for a true upgrade, LG fans.

  • The love mei case for the G5 does make the phone heavier and obviously a fair bit wider also and as for the finger print scanner it is easily accessible but it isn't covered up with anything by the case itself and it also doesn't rainbow the screen at all. The protection capabilities of the case are exceptional and I can easily use my G5 in heavy rain and the case also stops dust and dirt from getting inside it,my G5 looks as new as the first time I took it out of the box. I definitely recommend the G5 love mei case.

  • When is Lg G5 indian versions are getting nougat updates ??😢😢

  • I'm really heartbroken because I miss the G5 chubby cat..... And I don't even have a G5 but the cat is so cute and they didn't bring him back with the G6

  • Yeah I recommended a G5 to a couple of my older co-workers just for the camera set alone. They have new grandkids. Awwwww... ;D They were scared to change from apple but the one that got one I showed her how to adjust accessibility settings and she loves it now. On and can you tell us a bit about that waterproof case? Like I seen it eBay but no real review there. Is the fingerprint button sealed away? And how much fatter is the phone with case on? And does the screen "rainbow?" I had a defender otterbox for my G4 and it had a rainbow sheen from the screen protector and I couldn't stand. Thanks ;)

  • I have been using my G5 nearly 5 months now and for me I have had zero problems with it but I think I'm one of the lucky ones to be fair and I just wish it had a bigger screen and it would sound as good as my HTC 10 but everything else like battery life is excellent on nougat for sure. I also have mine synced to my Samsung gear s3 smart watch and it works great with that to so overall I would recommend the G5 and sure I could buy a Samsung s7 Edge or the new S8 when it's out but the ability of removing the battery on my G5 makes it shine cause I know after a year on those other phones the battery would be knackered but not on my G5 when I replace it. As for build quality I keep mine in a love mei case so it's protected against all the elements, using my G5 in the rain is great, who needs a Samsung phone...

  • My issues so far from end of Sept '16: -lightbleed on 2 corners noticeable when watching video in dim lit room. I think it got worse because now I see a bit on the edges in dark. Unfixable. That is horrible for a flagship and my biggest complaint. - screen ghosting. Annoying after image of notification bar or YouTube video seen in dark areas of image on screen. Easy fix by using a blue light filter. Annoying to use a 3rd party app but meh. Fixable. - when playing game RP watching video 100% heats up but never to point of crash or cannot hold b/c of heat. Max bright 75% and no problems. Unfixable but Meh. To be expected. - when using quick charge heats up from 2% to 20% then cools off. Meh. To be expected. But fixable by using swappable battery or Normal charger, no heat. - battery clip-in not as tight as when first got it. Meh. I change battery quite often so probably worn down. Battery has not fallen out and okay fine b/c the most useful modular design of this phone: that the bottom piece is cheap to replace. Problem with speaker, charging port, mic or battery clip? Problem with all above? $20 all in one replacement part. Cheap and fast. Good work LG. -spilt beer on power button and had to replace. My fault but no issues with button since. Fixable. But reason I want water resistant phone again. My Moto g4plus took a dive into a puddle and never had a prob in 6months usage with it. -headphones not as loud nor rich as my old g4. Unfixable but Meh its okay b/c I use Bluetooth headphones. Other than lightbleed, still love my G5. ;D

  • Have my lg g5. Returned to to the store before because of multiple issues like bootloop, no signal bars, and overheat. Have the phone already and the phone is working fine. Only the screen retention issue still remain. But still loving the phone. Have to love coz ipaid for it for Php 29,000. I dont mind the screen retention issue. Phone is snappy with 7.0 nougat. Battery life? For me is just fine. Awesome phone still.

  • full charge when i went to bed last night. up at 9 am, did nothing but set reminder and check couple texts. around 12:230 i was going to mute. phone went to "flashing" lg home page. said battery was too low to turn phone on. as i was on way out door, grabbed my charger. 3 hours later, no change, still can't turn phone on! is only like a month old! not a happy camper!!

  • Initially when I bought it, it was perfect.. Soon I started facing problems in the phone.. - there are severe burn ins on the display, I see letters from messenger n other text stuck on the screen even aster closing the app.. that's the most annoying thing about this phone.. I hate bad displays.. N the thing about these burn in are that they don't stay back.. They vanish after a while.. - the phone heats up like crazy.. even while doing mild tasks like watching YouTube.. - fingerprint sensor is not accurate - while in some apps, phone just freezes.. when I press the home screen button to close the app it shows a white halo effect around home screen button n doesn't close the app for a few seconds.. Just freezes.. - Many time I can't receive calls coz the phone freezes when someone calls. So many such issues in such a high end phone did not expect that from lg..

  • Same here in Estonia waiting for Nogat 7 .

  • Bought my G5 about 6 months ago, and even with gentle care the phone is malfunctioning and falling apart. Problems I encounter: - uneven backlight especially when screen is dimmed - burn in severe enough that I can read the letters on a keyboard that has long since disappeared - volume down button doesn't work and frequently lowers volume to silent (happens when back of phone or bottom module is touched) - power button doesn't work half the time - loses GPS signal even with full view of sky - overheating on side of phone containing motherboard - camera auto exposure doesn't work, habe to switch to manual and increase/decrease exposure - loose "module" at bottom of phone, 1mm gap between parts I did choose the G5 because I liked the idea of an easily replaceable battery, speaker and usb port (which is to their credit a great idea), but find myself with buyers remorse and not able to afford a decent replacement.

  • I already updated my g5 to nougat on 1st march, it has bugs. My current software version V20E-IND-XX

  • Yeah I absolutely agree about battery. I love my G5 despite its flaws and actually made use of the camera more than my G4 due to wide angle option and selfie 'flash'. 2nd battery came in handy to swap out when ran out of power using camera. That said I think I may just get the S8 as an upgrade. I don't actually think the G6 is the upgrade I want since battery life is only about 18% better than my G5. After going with g4 and G5 I think I will go back to Amoled especially if its a sealed battery. But that said I just can't give up my G5 just yet and will most likely keep it as a backup phone.

  • I have been watching lots of videos regarding the Samsung S8 and S8 plus but even though I really like these phones I do admit in a way my G5 is better simply because I can remove the battery inside it. Sure I could spend close to £700 for a S8 but come close to a year after all those fast charges the battery in the S8 will be knackered whereas in my G5 I can simply replace it. There's a lot to be said for replaceable batteries compared to the sealed phones.

  • Hi! İ cant find FM radio in menu, can you describe where is it pls?

  • Only with an approved Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 charger.

  • Not quite. More like over 60%. The trickle charge for that last 10% takes awhile but mine charges at 75 minutes or less. The pack-in charger is excellent and charges faster than what my Pixel and S7 edge came with. Don't believe the reviewers paid by Samsung. LG G5's usability is far superior to S7 edge and the camera has an advantage for being excellent in all lighting conditions and wide angle. S7 edge's battery is also a smudge better. Only my Pixel could be more fun to use thanks to its fluid software and touch response. Both have fewer weaknesses you can live with compared to the overrated, overhyped, overpriced S7e.

  • hello does any one know when LG G5 will get nougat in baltic region?

  • Meh. More like 55% in 30 mins from my experience. Gets to 100% in 75 min for me from 2%

  • Yes l have it myselfit charges to 68% in 25 mins

  • Is it true according to what i see on gsmarena that the lg g5 can reach 83% battery when charging for only 30 minutes? i want to buy this phone for that reason!

  • this is amazing ! is it true that the lg g5 charges 83% in 30minutes? (according to grmarena) i want to buy this phone for that reason.

  • Already out. I updated my phone, and since then charging issues have cropped up.

  • I faced the same problem. Went to service center they changed the whole screen. Problem solved.

  • I am also facing same kind of problum. Is there any solution?

  • God knows

  • Nevermind found a fix on okay store called: Blue light filter. But apparently this screen "burn in" is a thing on the G5. Sad but at least fixable.

  • Yeah that's why I'm waiting on the next Nougat update if it will get more consistent battery life. G5 should get hopefully before G6.

  • Phone is great, battery life is ok, one day without problem or 3,5h screen time. All depend on which light conditions you use the phone. Not demanded user can stay 2 days without charging.

  • wow, can't believe, people are still using this phone..!!

  • 2h , I see 7.1.1 rolling on some devices , hope LG is aware of the battery problem on some (almost all) G5 devices and will bring the update soon.

  • When the Indian variant G5 will start getting Nougat ?

  • bootloop?

  • Whats your sot on daily basis? I guess witg stock rom g5 cant get over 4 hours of sot

  • My G5 is on nougat and for me battery life is outstanding I can easily get a day out of it and I am a heavy user I live on my phone. Maybe I'm a lucky one with a perfect G5 but I have no battery problems.

  • Love my G5 but ughs.... After watching YouTube videos for about an hour in landscape I then flipped to portrait and I still saw some of the words from YouTube page running down the side of screen!? Can see the images on dark parts of screen. I thought only amoled had burn in?! Wtf!? Or is this normal? I had G5 since end of Sept.

  • My GF loves her G5.

  • the g4 is famous for that actually

  • Dont try to buy LG Mobile Phones at all. Dont waste your valuable money on buying this waste products. i bought my G4 in DEC 2015, i had replaced my motherboard 2 times and still the problem continues the phone getting overheat. Dont buy LG Mobiles..

  • I got use of nougat , we should be able to use the phone on latest android , maybe our problems will be fixed on 7.1 if LG decides to air that sooner.

  • Its lg's fault that they are not able to optimise battery life.Thos happens after every major update. Other vendors are doing just fine with nougat.

  • I heard the same problems about nougat so I didn't update and never will. I don't need nougat features. Never had problems on mm.Learned my lesson with my G4 when updated to mm and battery life just sucked. But best feature i love is the wide angle camera. Has average battery life but forgiveable because of removeable battery and can keep on taking pics. Just going to wait and see battery life of G6 a few months after release before upgrading.

  • This bottom module is crappy made. One day im going to lose the whole battery lol

  • I did factory reset after first boot, standby drain is really weird on this phone.

  • A factory reset fixes it temporarly. I heard that was a software problem and should be fixed when the next update comes (if). Mine also has trash battery life and other software problems .

  • Whats your average battery sot on nougat?? I cant get over 4hrs after upgrade

  • Hi guys and LG team... Not to be rude or come across in any aggressive way but the LG G5 android phone has been absolute trash for me... I have been in and out of repair centers on a regular basis, to be exact. I have had the phone for less than 6 months and have sent the phone in for repairs 3 times... The fingerprint scanner is a gimic and eventually give a countless amounts of issues as well as the power/lock button which currently isn't working on my device in which I will have to send it in for the 4th time... Batter is very good I have to say... No issue there... The software is also useless once again not to be rude... It overheated so badly in the first month of purchase that I would sometimes have to leave it in my fridge for 10 mins so it wouldnt burn my leg while in my pocket... And sent it in for repairs... Camera, music and video is excellent no complaints there however the apps in general are now shutting down and closing randomly as well as freezing often upon opening them... Makes me very mad sometimes as I have to reboot the phone but I cannot even do that as my power button isn't working to restart the phone... Hence why I said "trash"... The phone is quite slow most of the time and has caused me nothing but trouble and issues from day 1... I am not happy with the device at all and I think a lot could be fixed. I will continue staying with Samsung for now!

  • LG H850 single sim On nougat my phone is extremely good on battery life and I have mine synced to a Samsung s3 frontier smart watch which works perfectly with my G5 and I can receive texts and reply to them and also make calls from the watch to and it is the none LTE model.

  • good phone though

  • Which camera sensor does the g5 use??

  • Kindly tell me your model full name. is it dual Sim mobile?

  • What is your mobile's full name? Full name like LG G5 Dual SIM, H860N.

  • Atlast moved from the LG G5 to Sam S7 Edge...I only have good things to say abt the LG G5, its undoubtedly the best phone which is highly underrated. Though S7 Edge is no less but LG G5 was not any less either.

  • Nougat killed battery?? How is performance and idle?

  • not happy with update. The battery is draining even faster now and also quick charge is not working. Earlier it used to take only 1 hour to fully charge the battery now it takes 2 hours after nougat update. Pathetic from LG.

  • Can somebody say me how to connect my Lenovo hard disk (1TB) TO this phone ... It doesn't even detect ..I used to access it on my prev phone (HTC X9)

  • Hellllooo this is not g4 era........LOL

  • Just got a second G5 the other day for $120 from Best Buy. Selling it for $230 on Craigslist. Easy $100 profit. Loved this phone. Works great and gives me profit for being so cheap. My favorite phone ever thanks to LG for not omitting features like removable battery, 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, and FM radio.
