This is a good phone only for it's music quality.Battery backup is also good.But many applications and games does not working.Internet browsing is very slow.Photo uploading is not possible.Video streaming feature is also absent.

Is´s not a very intelligent phone. It has some things that were poorly thought: -The noise he does when warning about low battery is very loud and repeats in periods of time not much longer than 1 minute, which not only is annoying (specially when you are sleeping and have it on the bedside table), but also speed up the lost of battery. The only solution for that is to deactivate all warnings (if you don't want to put it in silent mode, of course). -It has a dedicated mp3 button but you can´t acess any audio file of any other kind using it (wma, amr, etc.) -When you download music files (ex. wma) with the cable, they go to the music folder where you have to select each track you want to listen. If you want to listen an entire CD, you have to move them all to the sounds folder (and this is yet another flaw, you have to move one file each time, is impossible to move an entire folder) -The highscores on both games have lots of bugs (on one sometimes show best score 2 or 3 times and on the other it gives a wrong date -Is not possible to take a photo without the shooting sound -Some other thing i don´t remember now

Did not know that code 1809#*200# I guess it is a factory reset, so has to be used with precaution. Everything is erased in the phone like installed games, contacts, messages, settings. Am i right ?

passed 3 and a half years with this 1 and i don't wanna sell it, no way! I haven't found any phone with this sound quality :) No problem till date. 1809#*200# is all u need 2 knw in case it hangs and u need 2 reset.

completed 2 years with this phone and all i can say is , this phone is a gem! large backlit keys are a joy to type texts. the phone is very very durable has not developed any problems so far. Have taken the phone through extreme weathers (snow,rain,harsh sun)and it never gave up. Battery backup initially was 2 days at a stretch and now it is 1 day. Plays fantastic music (both on loud speaker and head phones).And has a wireless fm plus fm recorder. :) This is a basic phone and meant for students or music lovers who dont use internet much. Internet capabilities are limited (ofcourse , its not possible to meet everything at this price. phone also has very small internal memory and hangs up at times. I can forgive all that considering the money i paid. :) However , the biggest voe i have with this phone is the message memory which is extremely small (150 messages all included). Other than these , The phone is an excellent one and i am not considering changing it anytime soon.

Not a good phone. Nokia 5130 costs about the same and it is a lot better. Firstly, the keyboard is not comfortable, and the phone reacts very slowly to input. The music player is poor, and you can't even see music tags. Dolby mobile isn't that good on this phone. The camera is ok, not much to expect. Almost no third party apps or games work with this phone. Facebook app doesn't work, neither do some games.

i had a sony ericsson w700i before buyin a corby txt an finally buyin this phone.. this sound quality and volume is as good as W series.. but the 'Xtrabass' equalizer setting is no match for megabass in Walkman phones.. i sorely miss that :/ also no manual equalizer settings in gm200..

This phone is a waste. The only good thing it has is it's sound. Everything else is very poor. The browsing is poor. You can only put games and applications up to 2 mb & most of the games & applications are not supported. The camera is very poor and video quality is bad. It is not easy to download from this phone and u cannot watch youtube in this. So dont waste your money in this phone. Go for better nokia phones.

Got GM200 yesterday, after choosing it over SE F305,SE Zylo,Nokia X2,and Samsung Champ. Well my main criterions were Good sound on loudspeaker and headphone,FM Recording and must say the phone satisfies both of these. Pros: 1)Best sound in Loudspeaker of all phones I have ever seen. Not only loud but also great bass and clarity.Only phones which came near comparison was SE F305 and W395.(Zylo not loud enough, and Samsung champ and Nokia X2 lacks bass) 2)Unbelievable via headphones. My Galaxy is no comparison to GM200. 3)I dont know why a few people termed its user interface unfriendly. It is as simple as possible, exactly like Nokia Series4 interface. 4)Flight Mode available. 5)I have seen a few people comment that it cant play a song from where it has been stopped. It can very well do it. Just use the middle joystick button to pause ans resume. 6)Dont worry about sms capacity. There is an option to back up phone memory messages to memory card. 7)Supports swf wallpapers. 8)Can add picture to contacts, and grouping is also possible. 9)Very easy call hold and swap system, and call merging facilities. Cons: 1)Message typing slow. If your life depends on smsing(mine does'nt I hate typing sms and even dont care to forward any) dont go for this phone. 2)Memory cannot be expanded beyond 2GB 3)Not for net freaks, as there is no 3G, the browser is good enough though. People shouting about no 3G no edge, should keep in mind it only costs around 37k in India. If you need all those look for higher range phones. In short great value for money.

it indeed is a great phone. i guess the people above had their expectations wrong while buying this phone. this phone is not for the application junkies nor the ones who want to access internet. this has been designed only with the music lovers in mind. It has the loudest speakers and great clarity when on headphones , too. the radio is clear and the built in antenna works great. the keypad is having a good feel with large buttons. the battery backup too is great. It lasts for 2 days with continuous music playing. I especially love the numbered options. It gives shortcuts for everything and the D-Pad too is awesome. I have had quite a few nokia's and sony's and i have never been this satisfied with one. and , oh ; am a music junkie and i dont really give a damn about the applications or games i can install. Regarding the memory ; 2GB is decent.It comes with a USB interface , so you keep refreshing the songs ; why would you like to store all the crap of the world in your phone , is what i find perplexing. all in all , LG GM200 is indeed is a great phone and serious bet for the money you spend.

You don't need the jad file. Just copy the jar file in the memory card or in the phone memory and clik on it. Great phone, super great sound. Only drawback: limitation is 2GB for memory card

so finally i have it! after searching a lot for the best mobile under 4000 rs range i narrowed my search to LG GM200, so whats best about this mobile? ok it cost me 3500/- rs my personal review after using it for 2 weeks Good things 1.Great Battery life! (can last upto 5 days of normal usage - couple of hrs of music playback from external speakers, calls, surfing, fm) 2.loud and clear loudspeaker, thanks to 2.1 channel integrated speakers (best in its class) 3. very good audio quality in earphones without any distortion at higher volume 4. 3.5mm audio jack, shortcut keys for fm and music player 5.nice simple User Interface 6.not to forget the Wireless FM Bad things... 1.plain looks 2.slow navigations when music is playing in background 3.slow running java apps and games( manageable - not that bad) 4.camera isnt good (as you cant expect good in a low budget phone) Bottom line I will give it 7.5/10, considering the Great Battery life, good sound quality(can replace your personal music player)and simple UI, its a good phone for music lover like me, thanks

Its best features are: *Sound Clarity (thanks to DOLBY and 2.1ch Woofer) that makes listening to music in speaker a wonderful experience *Good voice clarity for calls *One touch FM with built in antenna that is fair in quality with some noise and One touch Music Player *A decent basic 2MP camera *Low Price (3.5K only with GB micro SD) *Too GOOD Battery Life *Message Back Up, Contacts Back Up in External or Phone Memory *Easy removal and insertion of Memory card The main negatives are: *Slow user interface *Slow response to message typing. (Those who type messages fast, Please avoid this phone) *Cant install new themes *Every time one must select songs in music player after it is closed. The phone cant remember the last played song and in how many mins you stopped it like other phones. *Absence of ZOOM in camera @ 2MP resolution. i don't have any idea about cedar but i m sure it would be a better choice. if you need all these things then forget gm200 it has serious restrictions details are down here (copy pasting older post. i bought it in august 2009 and used for almost 6 months. one of my friends bought 5130xm and we compared it many times. following are its goods and bads. GOODS: its only good thing is perfect sound in both headphones and loudspeakers (and also its shape i love it. mine is silver). i've not heard any mobile with so loud & clear sound in loudspeakers. i bet it is far more better than 5130xm in loudspeakers. it is loud and clear in headphones also and gives u reasonable bass. its headphones gives you more bass than 5130's because headphones of 5130 are of bad quality. but when you plug gm200's headfones in 5130 then they both perform equally or 5130 performs negligibly better may be 1% better. BADS: 1. you can't resume the song from where you stopped it. 2. no way to go directly to a specific song. you'l have to scroll all the way down to the desired song. 3. radio can't be minimized. (some say that it is possible by firmware updat but i don't know about it) 4. radio recording sometimes skips half of a second of recording which feels chopy and irritating when you listen your recorded song. (may be only my mobile problem) 5. its camera is not so good. 5130's camera is better. 6. keypad is not so good. 5130's keypad is better. 7. sms memory 130-150 depends upon the length of saved msgs. 5130 has got unlimited memory. 8. sms is not sent in background so you have to wait and cant do anything else unless sms is sent (longer sms = longer wait/trouble).5130 sends sms in bakground. 9. user interface is not user friendly rather its "user enemily":-). 10. really really less customization options. 11. its back starts to get scratched (in silver color) & fade away after few months though it looks beautiful initially. i am afraid you may get bored sooner even if you are deeply in love with music and its sound quality

I have been using it for about 1 yr. It turned out to be great music player. It gives great images, with problem that it can magnify few.It runs videos satisfactory. It has got great cordless radio, a rare feature, with problem of less MHz range, but it runs all main radio stations of my city.It hangs sometime during playing radio or during editing radio MHz. I am more than satisfied with it. I purchased it because of its cordless radio feature & satisfactory & complete multimedia features. Bottom line, I give it 9 out of 10. Having all these features in just 3.5 grands is a very profitable deal. Company should continue these product.

no sorry you can't....you gotta scroll down till you get the song... cam clarity is good... My advice-the phone's a bit slow..keypad not good for texting...and internal memory is only 14 mb...so you can only store less than 150 msgs... if you love music go for it...

My first LG phone, wanted a second phone (first one the fantastic Samsung Wave). Just wanted a loud phone for Music, and big fonts. This one is very good for the price 80 euros, super loud, light and fast. At first i thought i had pb with the music player but all your song folders must be under the "sound" folder in the memory card. Don't even have to use the playlists, so easy to use. Really great phone. Sad it has been discontinued, happy to have bought one of the last one. Maybe wil buy another spare one of i can find another one. Love the loudness !! And typing SMS is perfectly OK, don't know what people are talking about. Go buy it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOODS: its only good thing is perfect sound in both headphones and loudspeakers (and also its shape i love it. mine is silver). i've not heard any mobile with so loud & clear sound in loudspeakers. i bet it is far more better than 5130xm in loudspeakers. it is loud and clear in headphones also and gives u reasonable bass. its headphones gives you more bass than 5130's because headphones of 5130 are of bad quality. but when you plug gm200's headfones in 5130 then they both perform equally or 5130 performs negligibly better may be 1% better. BADS: 1. you can't resume the song from where you stopped it. 2. no way to go directly to a specific song. you'l have to scroll all the way down to the desired song. 3. radio can't be minimized. (some say that it is possible by firmware updat but i don't know about it) 4. radio recording sometimes skips half of a second of recording which feels chopy and irritating when you listen your recorded song. (may be only my mobile problem) 5. its camera is not so good. 5130's camera is better. 6. keypad is not so good. 5130's keypad is better. 7. sms memory 130-150 depends upon the length of saved msgs. 5130 has got unlimited memory. 8. sms is not sent in background so you have to wait and cant do anything else unless sms is sent (longer sms = longer wait/trouble).5130 sends sms in bakground. 9. user interface is not user friendly rather its "user enemily":-). 10. really really less customization options. 11. its back starts to get scratched & fade away after few months though it looks beautiful initially. i am afraid you may get bored sooner even if you are deeply in love with music and its sound quality. feel free to ask anything about it at [email protected]

Dude, just download the latest version of Nimbuzz and it'll work fine. Opera Mini 5 won't work with this phone so better stick with Opera Mini 4.2 or Bolt Browser, TeaShark !

yep, their head office is located in pasig. but the LG customer representative told me that i can go to wellcom at robinsons galleria cause it's also one of their authorized service centers. so i'll try to bring my handset first in wellcom and if they can't solve it, i'll bring it to pasig. btw, this is the 1st time i've used LG and frankly, i'm disappointed.

Yes Mr. Rahil certainly you can use it as modem. I have used it in two networks Airtel and TATA DOCOMO. It delivers the speed up to 200 kpbs (because of EDGE Class 10, Many latest Nokia Phones have EDGE Class 32 and 33 which give better Speed than this). Build Quality is good, you dont have to worry about the features that it claims to have, they do work well. Superb Music, better than many high priced phones. Wireless Radio and loud speakers are good too. Of course the screen size and resolutions are the limitations. Not many java applications perform really well due to screen size and resolution and of course there is another limitation of only 5 MB memory for Games and Applications. Battery is good. If you listen to music more than you play games then you should seriously consider this phone. I don't think one can expect more than what this phone offers for the price of less than INR 4000. Even though I want for bigger screen and better resolution, but for this price I am pretty happy with this phone.

yes, the FM radio receptions can be recorded very easily with GM200, don't know about the GS200 but the there's no call recording function, and neither can be done with any external software. JAVA software is supported by this handset, but it does have some limitations over the Firmware and its activities. so no luck for call recording.

I'm encountering the same problem (some music files is cut at the beginning). People here have said that it might be solved by getting the updated firmware. But the problem is that it seems that LG doesn't support over-the-net updating for this model so that's kinda disappointing. People are telling of Authorized Service Centers, but most of the Authorizes Service Centers here in Manila that I went to only offer technical fixes for phones that are still within warranty. Geez, it really bites sometimes. Random mp3's being cut, and no radio minimizing. Hassle.

while playing MP3s in MP3 player, the activated Dolby Mobile surround technology hush downs the volume to a lower level.. and then applies the Dolby effects which brings surrounded sound. this also ensures NO DAMAGE to the loud speakers even you're listening in full volume. but if you set the equalizer to NONE, than you'll find HIGH VOLUME with NOISE. the sound is still perfect but it's not good for the speakers and the batteries if you're listening music through the loud speakers for hours and hours.

i think that's not a problem of the handset you're using, rather it could be a problem of the NETWORK/OPERATOR mainly.. and the other persons HANDSET to whom you're talking to.. i've seen almost all the Chinese handsets gives your voice as a reply in very low volume.. but the problem is seen mostly because of the weak signal and clarity tech offered by the Operator.

for the people who is facing voice clarity problems: while we talk in silent condition, we hold the handset in a little distance from our mouth and we don't face any voice clarity related issues. now let me remind you that this handset has noise cancellation feature. which starts working in a noisy condition mainly. so if you're traveling in a bus, or walking on roads and talking the feature starts to do its job. now, IF YOU feel that you need to bring the microphone closure to your mouth to make sounds clear, this will be treated as NOISE by the handset and will be canceled. this is why most of the people complaints about this problem while 'on the go'. now i suggest you not to do anything while in a noisy place. i mean, just keep the distance of microphone from your mouth like you've kept in silent places. you'll see dramatically your problem is solved, at least i hope so. just don't make your voice a NOISE. i've talked with my friends, in violent sound conditions, with a very low volume of voice that even i haven't heard what i said, but the other side was hearing me clearly. trust me, if you succeed this NOISE trick, you'll love to talk with this handset, otherwise not.. cheers everyone.

use a S.D. (secured digital) Card rather M.M.C. and use an original piece. like transcend, a-data, kingstone etc. this will stop both file corruption and hangs. and if the hanging problem persists after this then you'll need a firmware update to make things right.

Its depend to the firmware version not default, F vers seem like A vers,no minimized radio,but java multitask. I version with minimized radio but no java multitask. ,diferent made edition diferent default firmware version too.

lg software update app doesn't really work for this model. as i said before, none of the LG sync/updating software worked to update this particular handset. what i feel, there's no OPEN firmware database in LG website to make it updated over the net. or maybe there's a software restriction in the mobile. oh sorry, i don't remember those blog links. i haven't saved or bookmarked. but you may google to find it out, or you can personally visit LG service centers, they'll surely tell you what new features you'll get before making that update.

hey, i haven't updated my firmware.. that's because, i prefer using java apps while listening music rather than minimizing the radio only.. ;) i've learned about the updated firmware by surfing the net, well, what i've found is the updated firmware will make the interface a little faster. will make the music player a little more effective while using equalizer presets. for example, you'll get little more deep bass in Xtrabass etc. you can't update the software with your own pc. problem is, none of the LG software provides firmware update for this model. so you gotta get it to the service center for updates. cheers.

processor is very fast... i found in blogs that it's holding a Arm 9 280Mhz Processor inside. Messages takes 1sec to load. delete and other tasks are very fast. you won't feel too much delays while browsing. but i would like to mention one more thing, if you play music in background than the interface becomes slow. i do listen to song and use Opera mini and surf the web. its a little bit slow then, but not too much to make you bothered. cheers

The 3.5 mm headset which came with this mobile is working perfect on hearing songs. But when we use it on call, same problem arises. I heard that another headset(on charger port) available for this mobile. Is LG KP220's headset opt for GM200? first of all, you've to download java games with .jar file format. search the whole web for .jar files. whether it's a game or application. than copy that file to your memory card from pc. i think it would be best if you keep it in the 'others' folder of the memory card. now in the mobile, go to my stuff>external memory>others then select the file and enter.. you'll see the game/app is being installed. after completion you'll find it in games and apps folder in the menu. good luck buddy. :)

okay.. first you can www.getjar.com this website will allow you to select GM200 as your handset and let you download all those games that are only supported by it. there's you'll find games + everything else too. 80% apps were working, rest 20%... shows some error.. :D you can try file hosting sites like www.4shared.com and search JAR GAMES in these websites.. you may find many games. But hey always remember, avoid 3D games... those are not playable.. take care... bye bye

hey, one thing never happened to me "file corruption"... i don't know why but many have faced this problem.. i think its a memory card issue.. i am using transcend micro sd.. and about the firmware updates, there not much i can say.. i googled many times and visited many blogs. there are some firmware updates available for this device. here in this link "http://www.gsmlibrary.com/Flash+Files/LG+F­lash+Files/HWK/GM200/%3C%3F%3Dsitepath%3F%3E/GM2­00AT-00-V10c-404-XXX-APR-09-2009_TotalBin.zip.ht­ml" i saw lots of firmware files.. but says it will cost me. so i did not get any further with that. till now there's no problem with my phone, but i think you should go to LG service center. once nevin joseph (gm200ian) said that he updated firmware from the LG service center, though, there are some demerits of that too...

some tips for those who wants to watch movies/video songs in this handset: the device supports upto 400Kbps video bit-rate in 320*240 Resolution along with 128Kbps 44.1 KHz Audio Synchronized. However this is the max thing supported and i won't suggest you to use this specification to watch videos. cause the fact is the screen is not good enough to show you 400Kbps bitrate video. so i figured out the best specification (as per my thought) of video playable for this particular. I will recommend you to use "Any Video Converter". that's totally free. just google it. then in the converter, Use Customized Mp4 movie mode on the top right side. then, on the bottom right, use : Resolution : 320*240 Video Bitrate : 256 (still the output would be crisp) Video Framerate : 24 (That's enough, just give a try) Audio Bitrate : 128 (for best earphone results) Sample Rate : 44100 Hz that's it.. now you can even watch movies. another thing.. if you feel that while playback the video and audio is differing in miliseconds, then you can adjust it by just pressing the Fast Forward for 2seconds... :) cheers.

Forgot a quick mention about LG 'support', if you can upgrade firmware for this device to fix issues would appreciate a link to where to find it. NEVER forget the KU990i 'lite', sold without headphones to use the inbuilt radio, no data lead, cd or stylus, protective film etc. They even stated radio on box, the one you could not use!!!!! I helped many friends obtain LG earphones, etc. Now that LG have become a major, major player they would best shape-up with a European office giving better support. So far, it's a little patchy, beware. They make good handsets, but and it's a BIG BUT, unless they put better support in place, the word spreads fast, and that would be a shame as love their phones.

Agree about Opera 5, does crash, however 4.2 seems to work fine, which is good enough. I think the memory available to the Java app maybe the problem. I have often found some handsets are limited to the size of the Java file, it seems upto 500k they seem to be fine. 3d, not sure will have to try, to see if 3d is supported. Again, I will try a smaller file, one of the older 3d games. Seems to work ok with milti-screen apps, it's 176x220 but as you see it does not use full screen in java. The 176x208 do not work so far, however it likes SE 176x220 apps just fine if no lg equiv' available.

Yes it does, and seems to work with games upto 500k, with no problem. Very sharp screen, had record for radio too. Excellent phone, that is VERY loud, almost a mini Hi-Fi system. For some reason though it plays 3gp files very QUIET, not sure why?? Fantastic phone, in all respects!!!!

sorry for my language everyone.. i'm not that good in english.. okay.. hello everyone... today i want to write something about my phone.. GM200, it's been almost 3months i'm using it. and in this period of time, i've enjoyed every moment with it. before buying it, i read all the posts regarding this handset.. arguments and other quarrels between some peoples too. i would like to give a thanks to Nevin Joseph. every word of him is true. This handset is enough to beat ANY handset in its range. About external speaker quality, i've nothing to say, as it is already known for it! some said there's some problems with files, files get corrupted etc. i want to suggest them that please use an original branded memory card. files will never get corrupted and it would be fast enough to access too. some said there's some freezing problems. i haven't updated my firmware yet. but till now i've never faced any software crashes or freezes. just once, i tried to open Opera Mini 5, then it froze in the middle of that. but i was able to exit it without any problems. i use lots of JAVA games and applications ... i like to use those in my mobile.. feels great and the response is awesome. no problems. BUT there are some software that doesn't get installed. like 3D games never get installed or played, applications which try to access memory card, camera, bluetooth never opens. for example, i tried to use a JAVA music player, Bluetooth hacker, other java apps that try to use camera -these things never open. so there you can see some restrictions. but important softwares like opera, dictionaries, supported 2d games gets installed very easily without any problems. so not too much in supports of apps, but does well for your basic needs. but bulky unsupported apps may push the device to freeze. the camera is simply superb. but there's a trick to bring the best out of it. you've to hold the camera VERY STILL while shooting.. if your hand moves too much, the picture won't be good. and another thing, you should shoot pics in good light and the lights should be mostly on your focused subject. that's it. this is simply a dedicated digital camera of 2MP if you've good photo shooting hands. BUT, i hope you'll not expect 5MP out of 2MP.. :) The FM Radio is one of the best. Voice recorder is not too good for distant recordings. Video is best for MMS only (as per i thoughts). interface is pretty simple and basic. you'll not be puzzled. no themes here, but the white and black is not that bad. screen color is very good, resolution is also good. but sometimes while browsing or watching you may feel unhappy bacause of its 2 inch size. but bear in mind, its a music centric handset, so screen size is not the main thing for music lovers. but i've never felt any demandings of big screens cause mobile is mobile. :P So the music player, hmm... one thing. its awesome man! okay. that's all for now, please ask me for any help, i'll try to visit sometimes. :) take care.

Can someone just share the most recent firmware for this phone? As much as I love the music quality and all, there are just some things that makes me not like using this phone as my main and I've read that the firmware can answer it. All the listed local "supposed to be" service centers on LG's website for our country doesn't offer firmware download. Just nuts. Unlike Nokia and S-E where you can get their firmwares with ease. :/

Great cheap phone that calls, text and for less than £30 has a 3.5mm audio jack, 2gb of external memory and I can even check my facebook on it! Install SONY Sound Forge then open mp3 songs in this software which are not playing in any kind of cell phone. after mp3 file is open then save as anywhere in hard drive with same file name or u can change the file name. then put in the cellphone or memmory card...all song will play normally.

For some weird reason my GM200 is cutting off the beginning part of the some of the songs i put in it, some are just unplayable. Bought 2 memory cards already but that doesn't seem to be the answer. When I play the said songs on the PC they play normally. Is this firmware related? According to those softwares I installed from the CD my current firmware version is still v10A, if it is indeed firmware related how can i effectively download the latest firmware? LG Mobile update is always telling me that I already have the latest firmware. HELP.

the phone's sound is really good. It comes with a free 1GB memory card. u can play radio without the headset. but there are some drawbacks like u cant customize the profiles except the general mode. Also when a new msg comes radio will automatically switch off some times.

quite good phone ut wid poor looks. sound quality is awesome but the camera is not that good as a normal 2 MP is meant to be. you can not personalize it with themes, no music resume,mp3 player do not support wma files. also clock is not visible while other applications are running.not agood phone for rs 4500 or 5000. elieve me i'm using it

Pls note the drawbacks.. 1. No option to record the call 2. No loud speaker option before start the call 3. Talking with head set is very poor 4. While travelling not able to speak, the person in the other end not able to hear you well. 5. if the no of items in call history increases, search will hang up the phone. 6. message alert option (ring once) does not function properly. 7. if the call ended there is no sound to know the call disconnected.

this is a basic fon.. i would highly recommend this fon for whom who want a fon for basic use.. the sound was superb,remind me a once king of music fon Motorola E398,text msging UI are user friendly,easy to do sms,battery life was excellent and the price cheap.. the disadvantage is theme are limited,camera quality are average even its has 2.0mp,and the photo viewer even the video playback is not in full screen but u can adjust it.. no zoom for the 2.o mp mode.. for thise who want a basic fon with a little photo thing,this is the right fon u looking for.. give 8.5/10 overall

i bought the mobile for its sound quality (also brand name) on 27/12/09. unfortunately, my experience is a pretty bad one. the problems it has is the power automatically shuts down. this problem arose within a week after i had bought the phone. i have given the mobile for servicing three times since then. last time i had given was a fortnight ago. yet to receive any information from the service personnel. do not know whether the phone has inherent problems or mine was the one off one. but my mobile handset is useless one. need to buy another one i presume.

this is the worst phone ever only sound is good and that also through speakers.rest is ekdum bakwaas.u cannot store more than 150 messages is this a joke.even fm phones can store more messages than this.and on the other hand company is making fool of us.a feature called smart profiling does not work only in this phone.it shows sound level at once but does not adjust to the noise in the surrounding.2nd thing software is corrupt.files keep on getting corrupt in this phone.hardly u can install any application in this jerk.even camera is very bad.seriously regretting after buying this crap.purchased on 11/9/09 for rs5600.seriously will go for nokia or erriction next time.

Dear all, I am using this phone from past 6 mnths. touch wood but i dont have any problem. Sound quality is JUST SUPERB...! for both hard rock and soft songs. It gives nice sound effects in night in low volumn. Fm recording is also excellent, it'll automatically converted the file in .mp3 format. But only drawback is you CANNOT RECORD A CALL.. But otherwise this phone is just the SUPERB. I`ll say this is one of the bast models of LG Thanx to LG for such nice and handsome model -- Prasad

Another bug in the fone is that.. we cant mark multiple and move files from external memory to the fone or vice-versa.. Its so annoying and time consuming at times.. Also in my opinion the security lock feature has to be extended to the external memory as well.. I wonder wen is the next firmware update will arrive... Wake up LG!

This phone supports both mp4 as well as 3gp video formats. The supported codecs are xvid, mpeg4 and h.263. So make sure you configure the codec. The supported resolutions are 176x144 and 320x240 @ 23, 25 or even 30fps. For smoothplayback, set the video bitrate between 200 and 400kbps. The optimal audio is AAC audio @ 80 or 96kbps stereo.

Yeah.. I think the firmware version in your phone is outdated. I used to experience this kind of sloppiness in my first firmware version which I got with the phone. Try updating the firmware and see if it helps. If not, get your phone hardware checked for faults. You don't have to worry about that as everything is covered under warranty.

triesd this phone out in a vodafone shop yesterday,its actually really good for the price of it. Radio without headphones live through the speaker, recording off the radio,the sound is top class,the 2.1 was amazing to be honest. at about 80 euros lg have a hit on their hands

My friend I am a user of sonyericsson g502 and this phone.Sony ericsson g 502 is basically an HSDPA phone hence good for internet users. But mind you it has one drawback , constant restart problem, which to my knowledge is yet to be sorted out. I too have questioned lggm200 capabilities in comparision to samsung s 3310. What we have to accept is each model has its own strengths and weaknesses. Mr friend you tell me which mobile phone has only positive reviews.

Cannot agree more with what Nevin and Mr. Anonymous have to say in reply to Mr. Truth's Query. The S3310 is no match to the GM200! Now coming to ma experience with the The LG ASC, Belgaum Karnataka, today. I Had problem with ma headsets since yesterday as i was unable to get hear the music to its fullest and even the track was getting slower. I jus dropped into the ASC today told them the problem and zapak i was given a brand new headsets without an iota of tantrums. I also enquired about ny new updates for the GM200, they said they will let me know as nd wen they get it... Some news to be happy i guess.

mate gm200 is better than s3310. In most areas gm200 wins hands down. About the excessive talking thing... well you wont be able to do any excessive talking on s3310 as the battery capacity is too low and the phone uses up too much power quickly. Only thing s3310 have over gm2000 is a larger and better screen, better video capture, memory expansion. Installing apps on s3310 is a pain in the @$$. On gm200 its a lot easier... not as flexible as comparable Nokias/SE(as they both belong to a completely different league in terms of java app support) but its still a lot better samsung phones. Coming to the music department... there is comparison here.. gm200 wins without a doubt.

It might be because your phone memory is corrupt. Try resetting the phone or use the code 2945#*45#. This should clear the problem. Be warned that resetting the phone may lose all data on your phone. So better make a backup of your contacts before planning to do so...

I've been wanting to make a comparison of S3310 with my GM200 and you have give me an excuse to do so.. First of all, GM200 is far superior to S3100 in most aspects apart from a few things here and there. So let me just point out the advantages that GM200 has over S3310. GM200 is a dedicated music phone with a 3.5mm jack. So more flexibility to upgrade to any sort of earphones. S3310 has an 800mAh battery while GM200 has a 1100mAh battery. It is a big difference as the S3310 needs to be charged daily with moderate usage. The audio quality of GM200 is definitely better than S3310 with audio quality much better than most low end walkman phones and second only to the Nokia 5130. But the Dolby mobile is a feature unique to this phone. About games and application The only way you can install Games and apps is via wap. So unless you have a GPRS connection, you can't do anything about it. It is not possible to transfer jar files from PC and install it directly. In addition to that, the application size is limited to a maximum of 500kb. I have installed dictionary on my GM200 without any problem and the size is 1.7mb. I have compared the camera quality with the higher model S3500 and found that the pics viewed in PC looks a bit more realistic in my GM200 with better white balance though the S3500 has better colour saturation. So I have to conclude that both are neck to neck.. Then there is the 2.1Ch speakers and the woofer which is a definite advantage if you use the speakers a lot. You don't get that in any other phones in this price range especially the S3310. The S3310 sure looks stylish but featurewise, it doesn't even come close. I am wiriting this from the perspective of a full on music fanatic. So my opinions are purely subjective and according to me GM200 is definitely better than S3310.

5 sec seems to be quite unusual.. Make sure that you don't use up your sim memory for storing messages. It might cause problems. Otherwise, consult with your service center and chech whether a newer version is available..

Yep supports all sorts of mpeg4 audio standards like AAC, eAAC, eAAC+, m4a and mp4 formats... But somehow, the mp3 player doesn't recognise the files and can only be played back through the audio player.

Hi mate... I've almost got everything in place but hit a bump. I just can't seem to make the phone stay at the Firmware flashing mode. Did just as instructed in the page but my GM200 automatically restarts after connecting the cable instead of staying shut down. I suspect there is some kind of a code or a button that needs to be pressed in order to keep it shut down. Anyway I'm searching for that trick. Wish some LG service personnel would reveal that technique here. Guess i'm stuck here till then.....

I do agree mate.... I've seen H.264 videos lag like snails on low end phones that support it. The dropped frames n jerky video is a downfall to the otherwise superior quality offered by H.264.

That option is still available on most Nokias released today.

Dont bother with H.264 support. Even if they do provide the support it will pretty much be useless. H.264 requires a good deal of processing power and RAM to play any video with decent video quality. Its better to convert it to Xvid or mpeg4.

Hi all u GSM 200ians and the perspective buyers of India. Me and Nevin(GM200 Guru)had a discussion on the firmware and related issues of our favorite GM200. I am hereby, posting what we think by far the most important things that either need to be fixed/added/upgraded. We have put in a our best of efforts and just need a bit of sweat from all here, and may be we will be able to pull of this thing and see our GM200 to be the best among the best. All u guys have to do is- a. b. fill in the details. c.. In the comments box just paste this, with a bit of initial editing. Here it Goes- I Bought this wonderful cellphone on 3rd of jan 2010. I really liked the power it posses but then i was flabbergasted with its crappy firmware. In my opinion this phone has the potential to be the best in its class. Some of the annoying bugs that need to be fixed immediately are. 1. Only first no gets backed up on the external memory if there are multiple entries. 2. Games or application cannot be accessed with the mp3 still playing in the background. 3. The Volume rocker key should be functional even wen the keypad is locked and mp3 is on. If LG is promoting this phone to be a music phone then the volume rocker keys should even have track change functionality when keypad is locked. 4. The Message capacity needs to be drastically increased. My phone does not seem to hold more than 200 msgs including all the message folders. 5. It will be great if the LG think tank increase the internal memory(at least 40mb) and also the external memory expandability to 4gb. 6. Get more themes. 7. The mp3 stops playing once the owner hangs up the phone after calling others; though it resumes when a call is received and disconnects. 8. Java is unstable and the handset tends to freeze after exiting the application/game. The phone has to be restarted to recover. 9. The picture editor is a welcome feature in this phone but it would be great if the edited picture could be saved with a size greater than 640X480 pixels. 10. The video player should be able to switch form portrait to landscape mode anytime when the video is playing. And there has to be a shortcut key assigned for this. 11. The LG website states the support for mp4 H.264 code. It is yet to be implemented in this phone. So there is no support for mpeg4 AVC videos. 12. In the mp3 player, there has to be an option for sorting music based on Artist, Albums and Songs. 13. Get the message counter feature on this phone. really helps. 14. Application lock feature will really come handy and get a secure feeling for the owner. 15. And most importantly, the call recorder is missing badly. 16. While the Games/applications/mp3 are accessed if a msg is received the game/application/mp3 should freeze and the msg should be displayed on the screen with the senders name; wherein the user can either read and reply to the msg or else simply read and reply later else deny to read the msg in total and resume with the game/application. 17. If the game/application can be paused and minimised and later again be able to resume, then nothing like it. 18.The MP3 player can supports/reads/plays more file types (like ogg,flac,aac,wav...). Only the file manager can plays these files !! 19. When headphones are been put on if a msg is recieved the fone vibrates and the msg is not displaye on the home screen, so one has to go to the inbox to check out. 20. Call records feature is regretfully missing. If these things are taken care of at the earliest then I am sure LG will be a brand to reckon with in the GSM segment. Expecting a favorable reply at the earliest. d. Once u guys have done this kindly post comment on the forum, so that we can get a count as to how many voices we are forcing onto them.

I download most of the GIF animations from mobile9.com. I usually download 320x240 pics. Unlike samsung phones, size of the pic wont be an issue for this phone. My current wallpaper is a GIF animation witha size of 320x240 and 1.4 mb in size set at full screen size.

Hi.. mate.. Yes there is a slight issue with the maximum resolution this phone can handle though i've managed to open pics with a size of 3.2mp (2048x1536). To be on the safe side, try coverting your pics using a jpeg converter. There is an app called FAststone image resizer. Its free and has all sorts of settings you can play with. I convert my pics to 1024x768 so that I get full zooming options while on the pic viewer. And the zooming can be done till the pic is actual zise so I think this is a very neat feature as zooming pics at that resolutions on the small screen and conserves all the necessary details of the pic.

It's probably gotta do with the right codec. try coneverting videos to .mp4 format with mpeg4 codec or xvid codec. Set the bit rate between 200-400Kbps and audio to 64Kbps AAC. This should give you seamless playback. The video resolution can be 176x144 or 320x240 with 23 25 or 29 frame rates. Works for me...

Why ofcourse mate.. Just follow this link and download the jar file. It is about 1.7mb and is the best dictionary available for GM200. After download, copy the jar file onto the memory card, lets just say others folder. Access the file using the phone and install wherever you want. You're done mate. Enjoy your dictionary....

Nokia S40 phones (5th edition and above like 5130XM and 6303C).... although PC suit wont allow you to install anything larger 1MB, you can still use apps that are larger than 1MB in size. Largest app that I have used in 5130/2700/6303 is cambridge advanced learners dictionary with a size > 5MB. It works flawlessly. 3D games larger than 1MB wont work well, large games with low graphic requirements do work well. Ebook(jar format) of any size can be used, largest one tried by me 3.8MB. The downside of jar format ebooks are that it lacks images, special characters and default format. There are apps with which you can create ebooks which retains images, special characters and default format. Largest ebook made this way is a whooping 36MB in size and it works quite well(though few pics are missing).

The acoustic setting comes as a preset in GM200. So there is now way for met to know the actual spectrum for adjusting the equalizer in 5130. Try increasing the volume at both extremes of the equalizer keeping the mid range to a minimum of your desired choice. It would givea V-shape after the adjustments. Inceasing the mids may result in undesirable noise.

yeah... comparing default earphones with SE HPM-70/72 is not at all a fair comparision. IF you are to compare using default earphones then 5130XM would be the worst music phn out there.

try creating a folder inside the sounds folder. This should solve youre probs. Well anything @128Kbps or below bitrate tend to distort the speakers. It is due to the high compression and verymuch depends on the complexity of the music you listen to. I listen to a lot of metal and some songs tend to give that odd cracking sound at time but it is perfectly normal for this phone. You can try the dolby preset. This would help to normalise the volume and thereby reduce the vibrations. My advice is to use the acoustic preset when using earphones to get that full sonic effect. It sounds clean while highlighting the lows and highs.

what I meant was music copied from pc to music folder(not sound folder) does not allow to be set as ringtone, please correct me if I am wrong. Also some music ( may be because of formats) do tend to vibrate in audibly or jarred , what could be the reason.Some carnatic songs with "tamburu" as sruthi tend to be jarred. Can you give some tips to set music through the 3 settings options viz, "none" "DOLBY" l g setting"

What LG GM200 excels in doing so is produce music that sound as natural as possible. So just because of the fact that it is much more fun to listen to music on G502 doesn't mean that is is the best player. All dedicated music phones may sound a bit boring or dull but that is the way it is suppose to be heard. That itself explains why most sony walkmans have dropped the mega bass feature and some even lacks custom equalizer settings. I am quite sure that no SE even @ 9K range can compete with GM200 when it comes to producing quality audio. Even W995 cannot match Nokia 5130 in audio quality. That is a proven fact. So if you want your music to sound clean and natural, SE is not the way to go.

Who told you that mate... it's even easier to set songs as ringtones. Just browse the sounds folder to select the song you want and under options, select the set as ringtone option. It is even possible to set songs as ringtone in the mp3 menu.

Yes external speakers are a plus but whether with earphones I did not find much of a difference comparing with even g502. Yes pricewise g 502 is on the higher side.But S E mobiles facilitates easy navigation compared to lggm200. Music copied from pc does not allow to be set as ringtone directly. Though S E g 502 and lggm200 have 2 mp camera lg gm 200 picture quality is nowwhere near s e g502

Well... to me both are sensible choices. KM330 has an AM tuner in addition to the FM tuner. Has a 3.15mp camera with LED flash and autfocus lens. But it has no woofer and has a smaller capacity battery. All in all, I think KM330 would be the better choice.

Only first no gets backed up on the external memory if there are multiple entries. 2. Games or application cannot be accessed with the mp3 still playing in the background. 3. The Volume rocker key should be functional even wen the keypad is locked and mp3 is on. If LG is promoting this phone to be a music phone then the volume rocker keys should even have track change functionality when keypad is locked. 4. The Message capacity needs to be drastically increased. My phone does not seem to hold more than 200 msgs including all the message folders. 5. It will be great if the LG think tank increase the internal memory(at least 40mb) and also the external memory expandability to 4gb. 6. Get more themes. 7. The mp3 stops playing once the owner hangs up the phone after calling others; though it resumes when a call is received and disconnects. 8. Java is unstable and the handset tends to freeze after exiting the application/game. The phone has to be restarted to recover. 9. The picture editor is a welcome feature in this phone but it would be great if the edited picture could be saved with a size greater than 640X480 pixels. 10. The video player should be able to switch form portrait to landscape mode anytime when the video is playing. And there has to be a shortcut key assigned for this. 11. The LG website states the support for mp4 H.264 code. It is yet to be implemented in this phone. So there is no support for mpeg4 AVC videos. 12. In the mp3 player, there has to be an option for sorting music based on Artist, Albums and Songs. 13. Get the message counter feature on this phone. really helps. 14. Application lock feature will really come handy and get a secure feeling for the owner. 15. And most importantly, the call recorder is missing badly. 16. While the Games/applications/mp3 are accessed if a msg is received the game/application/mp3 should freeze and the msg should be displayed on the screen with the senders name; wherein the user can either read and reply to the msg or else simply read and reply later else deny to read the msg in total and resume with the game/application. 17. If the game/application can be paused and minimised and later again be able to resume, then nothing like it. 18.The MP3 player can supports/reads/plays more file types (like ogg,flac,aac,wav...). Is your connection active? If so, try creating a new connection this time with proxy turned off. If it doesn't work, try turning it on. And make sure to create a new access point and also check whether the username and pwd is typed correctly.

Yes it is a problem with this phone but a problem shared by almost all phones today. Companies have taken away the support for sending business cards via text message. This also applies to picture messages. I wonder why manufacturers do that.

Well.. you gotta listen for yourself. Unlike anything you've heard so far that I can assure you. Its surprisingly loud but crystal clear without any distortion or cracking. The woofer gives that extra bass response to give the music that thump which I have yet to see on other phones.

i m sure almost all the LG phones have the FTP profile u know where u can pair up ur phone A with a phone B and then u r able to see all the content of the phone B's memory card on phone A and then u can jst get the content from phone B on ur phone A. U need to go to FTP Setting to access this function. to understand better pair it up with sony h/s first. try it.. Gud luck

In that case... there is another hassle free way. Use the SIM memory to copy contacts from SE to the SIM. Then insert that SIM and copy the entire phone book to GM200. Repeat the procedure if the contacts are more than the SIM can hold. After copying the contacts onto the phone, it is easy to create backup's and restore contacts as the contacts are saved as a single VCF file on the memory card.

However sony ericsson mobile sends the whole Phone book~vcf showing , however receiving LG GM200 percentage doesnt move from "0". After a few seconds "complete" message comes.The end result only one contact is moved.I have tried similar transfer between "sony" to "LGKP500", with success. can you help?

No mate.. LG kinda overlooked that feature. But you can lock stuff like Images folder in the phone memory, to do list, memos etc. But not messages. To keep confidential data like bank details, there is a built in java app called Data Wallet for that.

It's been a while since I've updated my software. The most noticeable changes are mp3 resume capability, BG FM radio playing capability, support for more java apps, ability to open and set GIF images above 1mb as wallpapers and a slight increase in audio quality especially in the mid frequencies.

Well the message type speeds are average and can sometimes lag a bit. But the messaging features are nice and there are a lot of options for sending message. I use the T9 input mostly so I don't face much of a problem with typing speeds. The keypad is large and very responsive so you won't have difficulty typing in general. i turn off the keypad tones as the typing and the tones dont always sync well and can be annoying at times. Overall i like the messaging interface as sending messages to multiple recipients is a breeze for me.

Hi Raj.... if you have gone through the previous posts, you might get a clearer picture as we had a heck of a discussion regarding this. it is very hard to get good sounding earphones in this range especially the plugin or canalphones. We have already discusses about a few of them but most are way off your budget. What I can suggest is, if you push your budget to 790, you can get the Sony MDR-ED12LP earphones. Those are great sounding earphones especially the bass is very deep and powerful. But it is of the inerr type and suffers from poor noise isolation. So it is not recommended for listening in noisy environments as you have to pump up the volume to get the required sound output. Philips have a bunch of great sounding earphones. I am quite satisfied with the philips earphones. But the low end models lack the built quality and tend to break easily. If you can spend 1500Rs you can get the philips shh9700 which is quite good with adequate bass and an overall balanced sound though the highs can be a bit harsh sometimes. But the built quality is great. My is still yet to break eve after repeated abuse. So my advice is if you can spend a bit more, get what your maximum budget would allow you to buy. In the case of earphones atleast, the quality of the sound is directly proportional to the amount you pay. A lesson I've learned the hard way... Refer previous posts for user opinions and experiences.

It might be because of the BT connection. Try restarting both phones and try pairing both devices before continuing the transfers. Also make sure to authorize the paired device to prevent the phone from asking confirmation each time you transfer a file.

Yes your're quite right. GM200 has its shortcomings. But that does'nt make the GM200 the worst phone. It all depends on how one perceives the capabilities of a phone and how optimally one utilizes its functionality. To me GM200 is a good music phone. Its got a great battery backup and the audio quality rocks. The buggy firmware is to be blamed for the poor performance of the phone sometimes. It's quite unfortunate that this phone did not please you. But nobody here forces anyone to buy this phone nor gives any false information to mislead other people. Hi. With normal use ( about 40 minutes music with external speaker, 8/10 volume level / some call & message ) I had been using GM200 for about 3.5 day. After that, the phone show "battry low" and can't be use Music function, but can standby about 0.5 day before it turn off.

Ok let me just tell you the truth... I don't know about other phones out there or practically how many hours of playback those phones can give. I have personally tested my GM200 and with a single full charge and under normal listening volume, I got 14Hours of continuous music playback. The phone will work another six hours after the Batt low warning is displayed. The multimedia functionalities will be disabled tho... Haven't tried in offline or flight mode. Guessing maybe 20+ hours.

hi nevin, and the rest of the team, ebuddy is very reliable program, nimbuzz and mova messenger does not work, movamail, can support only gmail, try RSS reader, it works perfectly in my gm200, Following programs work very well. Micro Calc, (spread sheet) Mini Note pad Newshunt, supports vernacular news paper, too SHA Plus mobile Info, ( a must for mobile phones, it tells you various mobile operators name across the country) RSS reader for news feeds Dictionary V2.9 Mobile Task manager Google maps, M TEXT reader Hopefully more to follow, the above works well, cheers

Don't lose your cool mate... It is available in this phone. you just gotta activate it. I've made a post regarding this. I'm just copying and pasting the instructions from my previous post below. To activate cell info display, just goto messages-> Settings-> info message-> receive-> on and alerts-> on. Come back to messages-> info message-> topics-> (if there are no topics set, then set new topic by entering subject code as '50' and subject as '50') save it and mark 50 as active list. Goto standby and if message appears, you're done... it comes preloaded with a bunch of channels in latest firmware version. So just try it and see if it works.

Have you tried the CX300 or the newer CX300II? I saw a sennheiser catalogue when I went to buy my philips. I've noticed 2 variants. One is the ordinary model and saw another one which was stated as active or sports series or somethin like that. The first one costs about 3.8k MRP and the latter one costs even more. It was tempting though.....

Yeah maybe... but with the differences taken into account, EP-630 offers more value for money than the CX300's. I havent tried the CX300 yet and my time with an EP-630 had been too brief to make any judgement. EP-630's are good for it's price but I still think my SHH9700 is more balanced that the EP-630. The highs are too harsh and can sometimes be quite annoying. Anyway.. it is a good option for starters who are looking for a good IEM to replace the OEM headsets.

Well i haven't came across a single fake philips earphone till now.... same goes for sennys. Yes there are many shops that sell fake sony earbuds, the fake sony earbud you ordered from ebay. Its available for 300rs(fake)...the ebay guy sold that for 1100 bucks. Like you said you cant trust ebay...atleast ebay.in. Here there are some shops that sell only genuine stuff....they got philips, sony, creative and senny IEMs.

I once heard a rumour that all the Creative EP639's , Sennheiser CX300's and the AKG K324's are fabricated in a single factory in china. This was the reason why i was a bit hesitant in buying the CX300 from eBay. And mind you, you cannot get a pair of CX300's even if you pay 1000 or even 1500. It is that expensive.

All the software works right out of the box including tyhe Application for setting up internet connection on the PC or Laptop. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate edition and everything works just fine for me. Yes setting internet connection is hassle free and easy. All the setting will be worked out by the application. You just need to eneter the access point.

Well.. its a very wrong notion anyway... A good earphone means good noise isolation and very little noise or unwanted irritating sounds. So in short, all you get is good music and not all the eztras. it is the noise which actually causes harm to your ears when used at high volume levels for prolonged periods. A good earphones (the more expensive, the better) gives good noise isolation so you don't have to turn up the volume to mask external noise. This means, you can enjoy your music with all the necessary details without inreasing the volume levels.

I will tell you how much it costs in Cochin. Here there are many stores for buying branded earbuds. And almost everyone sells items for around 30% lower than MRP. So im guessing it should be around 1800. BTW the SHE9850 is a monster, it should cost around 5k i guess. Read in a review that its better than all of shure's single driver earbuds and not too far behind compared to their double driver model(1 for high and 1 for low freq). The ultimate shure inear earbud comes with 3 drivers. I found the review if you are interested you can go through it. ­

Dude.... go for it... there is no words to describe how it sounds... Well i found the perfect harmony in this. The clarity and fidelity of my SHH9700 with the thumping bass that was lacking in my SHH9700. The sound stage is also awesome. Each instrument is clear and distinct. Just into my tenth hour of burn in and already I feel a heck of a lot of difference. I can feel the sound signature changing with time. The treble has become much like my SHH9700. The vocals and mids are much more defined. The bass is strong but not too muddy. To put it simply.... just what the doc ordered for me. Can't think of anything in this price range that could match up. Sony MDR-EX85Sl is quite a contender but it has been discontinued. How sick can it get. All they have now are the earphones you've talked about earlier MDR-EX35LP. So given the circumstances and price, Philips SHE9800 is the way to go. See if you can get it at a good deal... Even if you spend 2.5k on it, it is a good buy.

Dude i am feeling so much envious for u owning the SHE 9800.. Awesome review. I better get one shipped for myself from ur rnd.. Lolz... After reading ur review i think i will go in for them in the comin month rather thean goin in for MDR ED12LP. I could try out the sony earphones which come with the phones with the LG usb headsets having the 3.5 mm jack and it worked fine. I am yet to find an LG usb headsets with 3.5mm jack, music and volume control keys on them. If ny1 here can try if such headsets work for the GM200 plz let us know.. I have asked the service center guys to find out reg the headsets but i am yet to hear from them :( Now i wonder when will LG will fix up the following bugs. 1. Mp3 shud resume once we call up and hang up. At present if v call up while the player is on, it gets off on its own.. 2. The msg shud be displayed while we are in middle of a game or an application, so that one can reply then and there, and after thats done the game can be resumed. Same shud be the case with the mp3 player. The music shud pause for a moment wen a msg is recieved and then resume. That will be handy wen we are on bike. 3. Both application and mp3 shud be accessible without the cheat that v ppl are following at the moment though. 4. Is there any possibility that the internal memory of the fone be upgaredec by the firmware updates? 5. The volume rocker keys should be functional even wen the the kepad is locked and if we hold the volume rocker keys for some moments one shud b able to fast forward or rewind the track and also be able to change tracks. Hope u guyz agree with me!

You've guessed right.... I'm from Kollam. Here the only store worth looking for good earphones is Quilon Radio Services. But there to the choices are limited. I was lucky enough just to find this piece. In addition, there is also SHE9850 which is too expensive for my budget. I think that's goona be my next pick. I received the sony earbuds from ebay a week ago. They were fake but the sound was pretty good for a fake. If you haven't tried an authentic sony, you wouldn't even notice the difference. Though it is bassy, it lacks that sony signature. So I sent it back and the shopkeeper was kind enough to refund my full money including the shipping expenses. It should reach him by tomorrow. It is so hard to get original stuff these days. Especially form reputed brands like sony and sennheiser. Almost everything sold cheap on ebay is fake. I also checked out the price of sennheiser CX300II and almost pi##ed my pants. It costs a whopping 3800Rs. For this price, I definitely think its worth the money I've paid for. Where did you find it for 2000Rs. I've paid 2400 for it as I am their loyal customer.

I too prefer not to use the equalizer settings. I use the default setting as a benchmark to judge earphones. Yes 5130 is one step ahead in quality than GM200 as I have compared it. Especially in the lower and mid bass regions. It gives a low frequency hum to the song. Other than that I was unable to find any other differences regarding the quality of both.

I prefer to listen to 5130 with equalizer set to normal with SHH9700, stereo widening turned off. I dont really prefer tweaking it when im using good quality earbuds. I only tweak when im using default earbuds or while connecting to my creative 2.1.

The truth is I don't even miss custom equalizer feature in this phone as I tend to enjoy music in its purest form without any alteration. And secondly, I can never get the equalizer right no matter how much time I spend tinkering with it. My favourite equalizer setting in this phone is the Acoustic preset. To me it is at par with the audio of 5130 with equalizer turned off...

Thanx m8.... Well I bought it this evening. Straight out of the box, it sounds better than my Philips SHH9700 and Sony MDR-ED12. It's like I've got the perfect combo of both. The clarity and frequency response of SHH9700 with the perfect bass that is a signature of most sony earbuds. Yes the soundstage is another noticeable factor. The stereo spacing and the different instrumentals are quite well defined and stands out well. And all this in the first hour of listening. can't wait till I put on some more hours of burnin. Already I feel the sound signature changing. The treble and mids are already showing improvements. I feel the higs to be a bit more subtle and not as harsh as the SHH9700. It sound more natural. Philips has done a very good job fine tuning to make it sound as natural as possible. I've paid 2400 for it. Its the best deal I could find in my city. It comes in great wuality packing. Like something fit for a king. The pouch is quite handy too. Another good thing is that the caps of my SHH9700 are interchangeabe with this one. Now I'm a beliver....

Mega bass feature of SE walkmans are over rated. It tends to be bloated at times and is mostly only good for hearing to techno or hip hop. MOst of the time midrange gets lost in bass and high pitched treble. SE do not use mega bass in their latest phns like W995. Looks like SE has decided to follow the nokia model and produce products with audiophile pleasing sound like the iphone 3GS.

Just download this DOC file from the link below and do as instructed. www.ap.bsnl.co.in/mmsgprs/wap.asp The settings are for south zone users. the problem with BSNL wap is that each zone has its own stting. So unless you know your zone, It is very hard to get the correct settings configured.

Oh that was very informative for me... I tend to think the music quality of GM200 to be more natural and balanced. Compared to 5130XM, GM200 does lag a bit behind in terms of audio reproduction but like you've said, in 5130, the mid bass does sound a bit elctronic and a bit harsh. I am by no means an audiophile so 5130 may be better in terms of audio reproduction but a bit harsh for my liking. So far, the audio department is something which I am very satisfied with. Not to mention the superb batter backup. And the mp3 resume problem is related to a firmware glitch. Try to get it updated with the latest firmware. It should resolve the problem.

HI Nevin Joseph Yes, you're right when sceptical me. BTW I have my opinion when say like that. - Actual 5800 Speaker is Loud but it not Clear and when you hear artist's voice, will have some echo ( i meant that like you're hearing a 3D Sound with more effect ). So the all over, the sound is not REALLY. More effect meant Low Quality with Music, it only best when you view movies. - Before I bought 5800 XM, i had used N82 and before N82 is 5700 XM. First I think Nseries will bring a good entertaiment ( Music/video/image etc.. ) but I wrong. N82 only powerful about Image with Flash Xenon, the Music is more of treble, no mid & bass anymore. So after 5800 released, I sell N82 to buy a 5800 XM because I like the Real Sound of 5700 XM, so I think 5800 XM will bring a new level of Speaker, but I'm Wrong AGAIN !. 5800 XM speaker better than N82, but WORSE than 5700 XM ( like i say on the top ). - Talk about headphone, the 5800 XM is better than 5700 XM with a bit less of distort ( 5700 XM is bad headphone because alot of distort when use over 80% volume ). Bass of 5800 XM still like other Nokia product, may be good with other, but not powerful with me ( I mean deep Bass and Mid Bass - I don't know how to say that, sorry ). - Before 5700 XM i had a good time with W800i and I love Sony's MEGABASS function. In Nokia, I don't get that feeling, the "BASS Booster" preset only simple keep high level of frequency "53 Hz" to get a little more bass, that's not enough. But today, the Bass i got on GM200 is little bit more better than MEGABASS function of Sony. Why I say that ? because the deep bass very strong while the Mid Bass still REAL ( not like a electronic Bass ). Especially the treble and TWETTER very clearly. ( Sorry, my Englsh is not good enough to say more better like that ). And the diffirent between DOLBY MOBILE & LG preset very clearly. So that's why I say that 5800 XM is worse than GM200. But it not mean that 5800 is bad, all I said is about Music Quality. With me, GM200 will replace 5800 in Music, but 5800 XM is powerfull Mobile with S60 5th ( new firmware 40.0.003 bring more feature like N97 mini ), Good Camera, Good OS etc... Thanks all. Well i agree with you on almost every point except where you said 5130XM and 2700 classic is same in terms of audio output. They aren't the same actually. You can feel the difference. 2700 classic is by no means different than 6303 classic in terms of audio output. 5130XM is definitely in a different league when compared with 2700 classic in terms of audio quality(through headphones).

Hi mate... That is one good review you've posted here. Even I was a bit sceptical how it would match up with the big boys like 5800. There are probably phones with loudere speakers than GM200 but the woofer does have its advantage. It reproduces the bass and punch of the music track without overloading the stereo speakers. So the output audio is loud and bassy without distorting the speakers. This is what I like most about my phone. And glad to see that you are staisfied with your purchase. Thanks mate, after a few hours, i have decided to get a new one and have some notice about this phone : - I am using 5800 XM and when compare the Loud Speaker quality, i see that GM200 is pretty good, sound clear, crystalize, powerful than my 5800 XM. I'm really surprise about GM200 Loud Speaker. And now, like i said before, GM200 can be now replace my mystice music phone 5700 Xpress Music. Thanks for all true comment here, and if you are fan of music phone, BUY IT, trusting me !! It better than W800i and 5700 XM ( i was used ). - The Headphone is more excellent. When I use my Sony CFDA-H1, the sound very clear, Bass very perfect, powerful. Clearly than my 5800 Xpress Musc. - The battery is 1100 mAh, I'm not test it yet but hope that it can keep about 4 days. - And because I had already have a 5800 XM, so the JAVA app is not important with me, sorry because I don't have any java soft to test it. - The big problem about this phone is only support 2Gb memory card. So when I try 4 Gb card, it can't read. I don't know why LG produce a Music phone but only support 2Gb card. - The second is that The Music Player only accept MP3 files, when I use M4A files, the phone don't see it actual phone can play it by File Managers. Notice that you only can use DOLBY effect with Music Player and MP3 file. - The Signal strength is Bad, than a Nokia phone. Some times phone show "Emergency Call Only" and Lost signal. - The camera is good, better than my old 2700 Classic. In my 2700 Classic, when I captured a picture, it show a NRW ( Nokia Raw ) and took about 10 second to encode it to JPEG format. But with GM200, the phone capture it now with JPEG format and size is about 650Kbs ( my 5800 XM took about 750 Kbs ). The picture when see on computer is quite better than my 2700 Classic ( same 2.0 Mpixel ). - Especially, I can connect to my 5800 XM to browse files !! That's a good idea ( but if you wanna play a music file, you need to wait it download to GM200 first ). ---------------------- CONL Finaly, I feel so good with this phone and can say that "THIS IS THE BEST MUSIC PHONE I HAVE USED EVER". Trusting me, This GM200 very good than 5130 XM because the 5130 XM is same quality with 2700 Classic. if someone say that :" 5130 XM is better than GM200" or "GM200 is bad" or something like that, I'm sure that they had not hand on this phone. And don't forget that I'm crazy fan of Nokia phone which used included : 7650, Ngage Classic, 5700 XM, 5220 XM, 5310 XM, N82, N79, 5800 XM. So that all i said is TRUE. Speakers of gm200 are pretty good and loud. Its a lot better than N73, N82 and 5800XM in terms of audio quality thru loudspeakers. Sorry dont know abt 5700XM. But since you have been using smartphones that comes with a large memory expansion option you maybe disappointed with gm200. Maximum memory card that can be used is 2GB.

Well mpeg4 is actually the codec that is used to compress the video and mp4 is the container format. GM200 supports both 3gp as well as mp4 formats. The codecs supported are h.263 (3gp) and mpeg4 codec as well as xvid codec for mp4. The audio stream being LC-AAC.

Well I haven't been able to get the latest firmware yet. But since my last update, I've been able to open even large sized images having sizes of 1mb or more and a resolution of 1990x1200. I've even managed to open a 3.2mp image reconverted to a higher jpeg compression.

I think the problem lies in whre the mp3 file is placed. Try moving the file to be edited onto the main sounds directory. I faced a similar situation when I tried diting mp3's from a subfolder inside the sounds folder.

And yes GM200 supports digital zooming. You just need to change the resolution to VGA or QVGA. VGA gives 4x zoom while QVGA resolution gives 8x zoom. The volume rocker is used as the zooming button.

I haven't done a comparison of GM200's camera with samsung S3310. The main reason being that nobody that I know of owns a S3310. But just to give you a perspective of the camera quality of GM200, I have comapared it with Nokia 6233 and found out that GM200 turned out to be the winner in the fields of white balance and resolved detailing. And I have also compared it with samsung S3500. The result being neck to neck as S3500 had more colour saturation while GM200 had better white balance so the pics appear to be more bright without adding too much noise. As it is the case with 6233, GM200 prevailed over S3500 in capturing resolved details. It is quite evident as you view it in actual size. Just check out these sample pics i've uploaded if you have difficulty believing me

Oops... ok so you said music phone. Increase your budget to 8K and you can go for Nokia 5230XM. It has audio quality comparable to 5130XM. The important point to note is that its an S60 smartphone with ARM 11 434MHz processor, 128MB RAM and a high resolution touch screen. But the downside is, there are no memory card, data cable and headset sucks. OR If your budget is limited to 7K. You can go for Nokia 5130XM or GM200. + memory card 4GB for 5130XM(max supported 16GB) 2GB for GM200 + Good branded earphone that costs around 1K.

And just one advice... the customer care representatives know bull crap about LG or other phone brands. They are like the official Nokia reps. So have second thoughts before calling the CC. In my opinion, Aircel is the easiest wap to setup. You just need to create a new access point and give the access point as aircelgprs There is no need for proxy address as aircel does not use a proxy server to connect to the internet. So make the access point the default internet connection and create a new connection leaving everything blank except for the connection name and homepage url which you can set as google. In my area aircel provides edge connectivity. The only excuse for me to not use Aircel is that I already have a broadband subscription.

I got a 1gb card with the fone and i have filled it almost to 90% and there is no problem of the fone getting slow or hanged. I have put in games, applications, novels, songs and images. No probs at all, and as far as my understanding states there wont be any hanging at all even if i upgrade to 1GB.

My reply to ur questions will be more or les in unison with that of Nevin's. The cell display resolution gives u pseudo feeling that the cam is vga but then u got to view it on a bigger screen, u will notice how powerful the GM200 cam is. Its upto the mark with many 2mp cams in the market.. i would rather say on par or above. The biggest plus about the GM is its java compatibility and after a long time i am not missing my SE W660i and propably GM 200 is better in many aspects.. I wish LG comes up with another firmware update and all the minor glitches are taken care of..

Well actually you cannot make a comparison as both phones fall under different categories. GM200 is a dedicated music phone with a 3.5mm jack, stereo speakers with woofer and dolby mobile 2.0 and huge battery backup. GM200 has a heck of a lot of features that S3310 dont have. The biggest advantage is that java applications can be installed directly from the memory card without the need for GPRS connectivity.

No problems at all with 2GB card.. phone will function as normal even if the card is filled to maximum capacity. The camera of GM200 is pretty good when compared to phones in the same segment. The pics are close to real in terms of white balance and colour. the noise levels are also appreciably low with enough deatiling. To truly appreciate the pic quality, you gotta view the pics on a PC rather than the small phone display.

At the time I bought mine the phone came with a 1GB card inside the box. No I hear that it has been upgraded to 2GB. Yes.... data cable and software comes as standard accessories inside the box. The radio reception is outstanding.. if you have a station nearby, then you do not require the earphones to be plugged in.

I think there are sennheiser earbuds with 112dB sensitivity using smaller 9mm drivers. Creative EP-630 gives 106dB with 9mm driver.

Yeah that is true mate... ED12LP has the same 16mm driver as the EX500 and EX700 monitor series but that doesnt mean that it is equal in audio quality. But a bigger driver ensures bigger sensitivity with better sound output. It is simply evident if you check out the specs. ED12LP has a sensitivity of 108dB while SHH9700 has 100dB which I found to be a bit low for my listening habits.

The thing with comparing earphones is that there are a lot of parameters to look into. The frequency response giives an idea about the frequency range that the earphone can reproduce. But the factor which determined the loudness of the buds is the sensitivity expressed in dB. So the more dB an earphone possess, the greater will be the audio output. And since all these buds have an impedance of 16ohm, they should be well suited for devices with low power output.

Having a larger diameter doesn't necessarily means tha it will produce better bass. It still comes down to how its tuned and its driver quality. There are plenty of smaller in-ear buds that produce a lot more bass than ones with bigger drivers. In-ear buds relies almost entirely on a perfect seal of earbud with ear to produce bass. you can feel it, if the seal is broken all you hear is high pitched treble. Which is not the case with MDR ED12LP. As for SHE9500 having a bigger driver than SHH9700. I haven't tried SHE9500 but members in many tech forums suggest SHH9700 over SHE9500. Some newer models are also out, maybe they'll be better than SHH9700.

So in short the headphones having higher diameter are better for bass, while the in ear have less bass effect owing to their reduced diameter, but then they have noise reduction as well to make up for the diameter. In philips the SHH900 costs 1499INR precisely and here is the link for the headphones compared who are within 1000INR mark.. Hope this helps.. Now i have a doubt.. can a connector be found which has a 3.5mm jack and a 3.5mmjack on the other end.. Is there a possibility?

Yes they are definitely better than the ED12 but as is the case with most plugin type earphones, the spec makes me think that it will suffer from low audio output and a tighter but plain bass. But still if you haven't listened to an ED12, then you wouldn't have anything to complain as it would sound perfect thanks to the greater frequency response and balanced sound.

Inear buds have many advantages as they provide superior audio quality while blocking out background noise. The only disadvantage is that they come with small speaker driver so the bass is tight but lacks depth and the low frequencies are not that much defined. They also tend to fatigue the ears if you are not used to wearing them. The output will also be much lower so you have to pump up the volume to get the desired output. other than that most high end earphones that are available in the market today are inear plugin type. Except for the sony's ex monitor which combines the isolation provided by the earplugs with the better soundstage provided by the bigger driver. That is exactly what i have ordered from ebay.

Yes that would e the better option. Set the resolution to 1024x768 if you want full zooming support. Works on 640x480 pics as well. In jpeg quality settings, unmark the transfer EXCIF data option and this should make the pics fully compatable for viewing on the phone.

Hey bro, that anonymous who complained abt philips is not me. Do look at the encoded location code given under each comment.Mine is utk and Nevin's is PB7. BTW I would suggest not to got for cheap chinese copies. I had bought a copy of MDR-EX700 earphone for 250Rs frm local shop(original costs arnd 15K according sonystyle website). It had excellent bass and good audio quality, audio quality still no way near SHH9700. But the problem was, left side stopped working after 2 weeks thanks to my rough handing. Now if you choose to go for philips earbuds and the shopkeepers lets you check it before buying it, most probably you will be very dissapointed with its performance. There was no bass. But i decided to take the risk and bought it coz i had read in some reviews that some philips earbuds requires 50 hrs burnin before giving good audio output. After reaching home i gave it another try and it sounded a lot better with good bass. Previously I got low bass coz i didnt get a proper seal with my ear. Unlike some of the sony earphones philips earbuds requires a good seal with the ear to give you good bass. Audio quality will improve further as you go on using it. And one more thing never buy it for Rs1499 frm a local shop. If they ask you to pay MRP then buy it frm philips dealers. Remember you are buying it frm local shops so that you get it cheap and if they dont give it for cheaper price then go to an authorised dealer. Same in case of sony.

Ok... let m just make it as simple as possible. Sony MDR-ED12LP current price is 790Rs and not 990. Philips SHH9700 if you can get it for 900 is the best value for money. Coming to the audio performance, Sony is 'inear' buds. Better bass performance, high audio output, bigger driver for bass addicts. Looks quite expensive too. As this is inear and not a plugin type, noise isolation is poor especially in busy streets but good for long hours of wearing and does not fatigue the ear. These are best suited for indoor everyday use. Philips is a 'plug in' type earphone also known as canalphones. Great frequency response, bass is tight but not as deep as sony but still good. Both have great built quality but the philips cord seems robust and is less prone to tangling. Good overall audio quality with balanced sounds in all frequency ranges. Provides good isolation but not recommended for wearing long hours as the ear gets fatigued easily as it is fully enclosed. Output is a bit low due to small driver. But overall great value for money. My conclusion is both are good. And I use both of them on a daily basis. I use my sony to listen to long hours of music when I'm home. I use my philips mostly during travelling and at bed as it fits nicely without hurting the ear while at bed. Sony sounds perfect straight out of the box while philips needs atleast 24hours of burnin to get everything settled. Both have great built quality and unlike my previous low end buds, bot of them show no signs of giving up. Still sounds just as good. If you can get the philips for 900rs, then that would be a great bonus and I'd recommend philips. But if it costs above 1200, then both are equally matched in terms of quality cost ratio. So it's upto you to decide as it has to do with your purpose. Try to get sony earphones from an ASC or sony dealer. here in my city, it is available @ 790rs. So make sure you don't get cheated as no dealer can charge morethan this.

Had been to the LG Service center today and asked for the headsets having both volume and music control keys, but the morons were really not co-operative. Gave them the list of 6 model nos but they said there is no such model available after checking their database. I mean how can that be possible? I got the model nos from the LG India website :o? They took my no and said that they will contact me once they receive any info reg the headsets. @ Nevin- Wheneva i play the mp3 and then call a no and then hang up the mp3 vanishes, its so ridiculous. Well that question needs to be answered by you. Just consult with the vendor or service center personnel. I'm not sure if everything will work. All you gotta worry about is whether the remote control and volume control would work. Since the headset comes in two pieces, it can easily accomodate any earphone with a 3.5mm pin. So my advice would be to get bot. I don't think LG's buds if at all they have one would come close to the quality of professional earphone brands like sony and philips canalphones. Philips SHH9700 is made specially for nokia xpress misic phones and comes with two piece cord. So you can easily detach the buds and connect it to the usb headset. this way, you can enjoy the goodness of both worlds. Well this phone accepts cards formatted using FAT32 file system. But it just cannot read cards with microSDHC profile which comes as standard in cards of 4GB and above. If somehow the firmware has the particular provisions, then it could easily support a 4GB card. Themes are proprietary and is platform dependent for a particular brand. So far, the most popular ones are developed for nokia and sonyericsson (their theme, their platform). So unless LG comes up with something like that, themes support is something you would least expect anytime soon.

I did 100 hours of burn in and now it is starting to sound better and better. Now i think it deserves an appreciation for it is worth the price now. And BTW are you sure it is available at 900? Oh... spent 1500 on it. And i'm guessing it is authentic philips.

The GM200 has two slots, one 3.5mm jack for the headsets which comes with a mic. Another mini usb port for Charging and file transfers. Now coming to my requirement- 1. I need a headsets which is really good fr hearing but then i shud be able to attend calls, control volume and it shud have music control keys. It shud have ear buds for bass effect. 2. Checked the LG India official site and they have a set of headsets that meet my requirements but none seem to be the "in ear" types. They are viz- 1. SGEY0006402 2. SGEY0005503 3. SGEY0004502 4. SGEY0006409 5. SGEY0006404 6. SGEY0006401 7. SGEY0006403 Have a look at them and kindly opine, and FYI the KM900 aka "Arena" does have in ear headsets but could find if the headsets hade music control keys. Here r the respective links. Depends on what you want... If you want earphones with good audio quality then go for earbuds frm philips, sony, sennheiser or creative. These are not headsets and hence they do not come with a mic, you will have to use adapters with mic or with remote(for playback control). The adapter can be connected to your phone and the earphone can be connected to adapter. Don't know if these sort of things are available for LG, its available for Nokia. If you can get your hands on an N85/5800XM's headset then check whether the remote works on GM200's 3.5mm jack. It works for 5130XM.

One more thing.... There is a usb headset available for LG phones. it's mostly meant for high end phones like Arena. It comes with all the above stuff you need like volume control, play/pause, next-prev and a hold button. I saw one on ebay and it listed as 850rs. i've checked the pin and it seems t be the same. So just check it out if you are interested.

Well i'm not an expert on earphones. the most expensive I could afford is my Philips SHH9700 earphones. So I can only make suggestions based on entry level earphones. Sony is best suited for bass addicts. Whichever class you choose, Sony is best rated for its heavy bass. But you will be missing some detailing on the mid and high frequencies. Overall, its good for long periods of listening and won't fatigue your ears. Philips earphones are good too, i'd recommend the SHH9700. Costs much morethan the Sony MDR-ED12LP but the sounds are all balanced and gives you good noise isolation as it is a canalphone. Bass is good but not as deep as sony. I can't tell anything about USB earphones. If you can find one with volume controls, also check if the earphones can be detaches as in walkman earphones. That way, even if the SQ is low, you can easily replace it with a good pair. If you spend a bit more, you can get a 3.5mm pin earphones with volume controls. The budget ones cost in the rande of 300-350. They are good though. Dont remember the model no. It's got replaceable caps of different colours. It is available in black and white. the white ones look exactly like ipod earphones. The SQ is ok. Kind of like Sony but with moderate bass and you can hear slight distortions with low bit mp3 or heavy music. Unlike many reviews, Sony's entry level earphones are pretty good but the treble and mids appear to be too soft sometimes. I'd say for the price of 790, it is definitely worth the money. And BTW i'm plannin on gettina new pair of Sony MDR-EX85SL earphones for 1100 from ebay. It's worth morethan 3500. I'm a bit sceptical whether it is a genuine sony product. Anyway I have already placed the order and expecting it within a week. Will let you all know about it. The seller promised me that it is an OEM product. I just find it too good to be true. So anyway, i'm keeping my fingers crossed for this. My next pair is gonna be a Shure SE530 (just kidding - it is one bloody expensive pair of earphones). You can buy a motorbike for the price of that killerphone.

Hi Nevi- Thx for the suggestion. Just clear my ultimate doubt regarding the good headsets. What should i go for? 1. Sony Headsets. 2. Philips 3. Usb headsets with volume and music control keys. I am on the look for these specifically. But my ain query is wil the music control headsets work on gthe GM200? or should they work? 4. What was the price of the budget headsets in philips u were talking about in the earlier post? At this point i am almost confirmed with the sony headsets. :) @ All- I saw an option for LG GM200 BRIO as well on mobile9 site while searching for games. Wonder whats extra in the BRIO :o. @ The GM GURU's Here is the list of firmware issues that i would like to be rectified in the next firmware updates. 1. Games or application can be accessed while mp3 is playing in the background. I mean both shud be running simultaneously. 2. Whenever a msg is received while accessing a game/app, there shud be the display of the msg without the vibration, but rather the msg tone. One shud be able to reply to the msg then and there and after that the game/app can be resumed. Is the same problem encountered while using the camera??? 3. While we back up the contacts and then restore it, only the first no is restored. In the sense if more than two nos are allocated to a person, the second does not get backed up. This shud be resolved. 4. I wonder if we store a contact picture, does the pic get displayed if msg is receieved from that no? 5. Volume control keys shud work while the keypad is locked. I mean if this fone is made for music then ideally it shud be the norm! Plz guys draft a really effective letter so that LG guys take a look at these issues and fix them right ASAP. GM200 has internal modem and has EDGE connectivity. You can easily connect to the internet using the Internet Cube app that comes with the CD.

Yes it's a firmware glitch... It should be rectified with the latest firmware. Just take it to the nearest LG ASC with your original bill. Firmware update is free within the warranty period.

hi Nevin Thanks for ur explanations. Now I have facing a prob on my GM200. When a delivery report for text sms came while i listening to FM(through loud or head phone) the FM app shut down. May i know what is the reason. Wil it can rectify by Firmware update? Where can i update firmware? how much it wil cost?

Philips have a very wide range of eraphones. I've tried quite a number of them. the problem with low end philips earphones is that they tend to break easily. Now I own a philips SHH9700 IEM canal phones. it's great for my GM200. It needs atleast 100 hours of burn in to really show it's potential. It costs around 1500INR. So if you have that much to spend, then this is a great choice. The sounds are balanced on all frequencies. Well regarding gmaes, try to get games having screen size of 176x220 pixels. Most SE K750i games and applications should work just fine. Screen sizes are sometimes automatically adjusted for applications like Opera Mini. Opera Mini, E-Buddy, mig33, UC Web, Bolt Browser, Tea Shark, G mail app, Google Maps, RSS reader, Oxford Mini Dictionary, etc... these are some of my essentials list. Some high end earphones with noise cancellation feature comes with dedicated volume keys but these things are very expensive costing morethan 3000rs. usb headsets with music keys might work if you can find one. The above listed applications are certified apps and would work on any GM200. if it doesn't, then it is something concerning the phone rather than the app.

Philiphs headsets how much do de cost? and do they have volume controls or music control keys? Is the effect similar to the sony headphones? Which wud u suggest? price is not an issue. There are in ear headphones even in LG, they cost 374INR.. din like the quality though. There are no compatible themes available for any LG fone on the net thats what i got to know. The Camera is NOT 2MP, I am telling this on record. Today i have asked the service center guy to tell the company regarding the mp3 player and games problem. He said he will inform the manufacturers. How shal i know what screen resolution shall i use for what game? and how is the screen resolution adjusted? Would u give me the most essential list of jar applications that will be handy on the GM 200? There are no music control keys on ny LG headsets and i doubt if headsets with music control keys work on the GM200! Last query.. wheneva i download an application or a game and then try to install it gets failed. Regards

yeah that seems like a great idea. maybe we should let all our voices be heard. I don't think that GM200 has a VGA camera. It is strongly based on my observations that even if it is a VGA camera with pics interpolated to 2mp resolution, the amount of detailing will be significantly lower. Which is not the case with my GM200. I've compared it with even top class 2mp phones like nokia 6233 and fould out that the colour reproduction and detailing is so much better that 6233. You might have the camera set to VGA resolution. Just check it and don't trust you mobile display. View it on a bigger computer display.

Well you just have to do one more thing... after you have copied your messages and contacts onto the computer, under the file menu, there is an export option. use this option to export your contacts onto a single file. there are two options available. one is to save the contacts as a TAB file or a CSV file. and save it to your desired destination. this way, you can use the same procedure to import contacts and messages to the phone from the pc and also gives you a backup file which can easily be opened on MS excel.

Goto LG official site and under the product select support and download the LG mobile support application. Insatll it and run the application. in that under customer support, select application, manual and usb driver download. click that and enter the phone imei number. the application will automatically recognise your phone and give you the list of available downloads. Under that select PC sync software which is a zip file of 178mb size. download it, extract and then run the setup from there. It should resolve your problems.

Sorry mate for the dealy in reply.... could'nt find enough time to answer all your queries. Glad you could find a USB earphone. It's the one thing I was unable to try out. And there is good news too.. Philips has a budget earphone (don't kno the model no or exact price). It has 3.5mm pin and supports 2 independent earphones at a time. So in that case use of 3 earephones is quite possible. 2) This phone doesn't support 3d graphics at this particular time so it will be difficult to run games with a lot of graphics. Make sure you get the right screen size. No registeration necessary though you can do that as membership is free. Well with my current firmware version, the only way to run apps and music at the same time is by this method. 3) No you don't necessarily have to do that. Though it doesn't show the charging status, it does charge from the USB everytime you connect it. But the thing to be noticed is that Laps tend to have alower USB voltage so this could influence the charging time. 4) For reading E-Books, the phone natively supports text files. you just have to convert it into a simple notepad file and just copy it into any folder. there are applications that can also convert documents intoa jar file which can be installed. 5) The vibration is followed by a message reminder icon on the top of the display. It is quite adequate for me as a reminder. 6) No... dude as part of new laws regarding privacy, all phones come with a shutter sound that cannot be muted. It is applicable to all newer models. 7)Just check out zedge and mobile9. All classic 2djava games should work with ease. try splinter cell, asphalt gt2d, GTA vice city, prince of persia, etc. Find working games is always a trial and error affair. 8)yes you can get it from your nearest sony showroom or sales center. costs about 790rs now. If you are a lover of haed thumping bass.. then you'll like it. 9)Hope your update went well and fell free to post your reviews regarding the update.

regarding the firmware update, the only thing thats resolved is the mp3 does not skip after the call and even while accessing the applications and games. I asked the service center guy to get the firmware updated so that the mp3 player and the games can be simultaneously used. He assured that he will mail to the company. I have given him in written a list of improvements the GM200 drastically needs. I also showed him the user reviews on the gsmarena. Will u plz reply to my 9 point questionaire natt?

How bout we draft a real effective mail to the LG ppl regarding our greviences with firmware and stuffs like that for the GM 200? By they way i got a shocking revelation today the cam of the GM200 is not megapixels but VGA :(. Thats really disheartening.

BREAKING NEWS- LAtest firmware update released. Go get it done. I have just given mine.. will post the results in some hours. Somebody plz reply to my earlier nine point post. I talked to the service center guys. They said that if more and more customers assert on the firmware update with their greveinces the company will seriously look into the matter as these guys give customer feedback to the company. So i am doing my part, i am handing over my compliant on a peice of paper. All u guyz also do the same wen u drop into the service center. Regards!
