I've bought it for my mother around 1.5 years ago .She's 70 years old ! This phone has a low internal memory . If U take ~18 image , the internal would be full. Also sometimes this phone would be dead ! That's nonsense but U have to eject battery to reset it.

guyz u know dat every phone isn't a smartphone..beliv me this awesome piece of device just by once took me to the smart world..its simple.. I could download thousands of apps compatible with this.. Though this isn't a smartphone, those apps made it a smartphone..almost a smartphone.. My brother bought this just as it was announced and 6 months later, it came to me.. He used this as delicately as a cat but i used to make this my slave.. But this is a miracle guyz the phone is still resistant to my hard use.. Belive me, with time the slider ribbon is damaged and sometimes the display goes white..but certain times, the display comes back.. Even this post is being sent via this amazing LG-GU230.. This is AWESOME..

It�s me again. After almost 3 years, this phone still looks and feels like new. Not scratching on the outer case and the keypad looks and feels as if it came right out of the box. It still runs great and I have not done a single repair to it, all this while being put under heavy use all these years. After reading through the forums you have all posted and comparing them to my experience with this phone, I do have some minor reservations. This phone is a bit stubborn when it comes to playing certain files. Regardless of all the formats stated on this and the manufacturer�s site, my phone can only play 3gp formats. Even then, the 3gp format must be of a specific type otherwise the phone simply tells you that the format is �not supported�. MP4 format it also unsupported too. To be fair, I have ensured that all the necessary audio and video encodings are according to the specifications. Perhaps LG could point out suitable software to correct this? Even LG�s PC suite didn�t help with this issue. It plays all MP3 files though, so at least I still have my tunes. I have also noticed that the same phone is being sold differently. Some of you wrote that the phone came with a free memory card; others also wrote that it came with the data cable and/or in some cases it came with both. My phone came with the headphones only. Since I received neither a data cable nor memory card it seems to me that there are no exact rules as to the content of an LG GU230 pack. This might explain why not all specified formats can be read by the phone. It seems that the Specifications placed on this site and also stated by LG are generalist of what this phone might do depending on the type purchased. Since my phone was purchased personally from LG I do not suspect that I bought a cheap copy-phone. I still adore this phone though and I indeed to keep using it for a while.

i like this phone coz its very easy to use and nice to use when texting and calling... the battery life is the best for me... it lasts long before it drains completely however the sound when the battery's draining is very annoying, it cant be silence in the settings.

You can't get the battery cover off because they a have a device under the battery that detects water. You got your phone wet and the devise puffed up and put pressure on it.

I just got this phone replaced by straight talk, I put the battery in and charged it. It signaled that it was charged, but when I open it, it was dead. Now I can't get the battery cover off. No amount of pressing it away from the camera has been effective. Help!

I know that some of you have said that this phone is "a toy". I believe that we can already prove which is the biggest 'toy' between this phone and an iphone .I own an i phone by the way and i still think that this Lg phone has major advantages in terms of its ease of transporting it in ones pocket and simply not being much of a stand-out when in public. On top of which, the basics of a good phone are all put into this handset and most importantly, it has a longer battery life than the majority of handsets out there including and iPhone.

Great phone, with excellent sound recording sensitivity . Keypad is easy to use, good key response while texting. Surfing internet is very fast, camera/video is just OK, can store up to 500 SMS and 100 calendar appointments). Plays videos at QCIF (and encoded on even bigger resolutions), can rotate it to play horizontaly etc. Very good value for money.

It does have some bluetooth problems, especially when you are trying to sync it with your PC. But in reality, this is not a problem, but rather a slight disadvantage. Just be sure that what ever device it is that you are trying to pair your phone to is using a " v2.1 with A2DP" bluetooth.

I believe that you mean 'Country code' right? First of all, you do not need one for the phone to work, you only need a country code when your calling a number that is in another country from yours. I am not aware of any instances where you need a country code for a phone to work anyways. If you bought an operator supplied handset then the reason might be that you have inserted another operators Sim card in the slot rather than keeping the original one in place. In this case reverting back to the original operator Sim card will do the trick. If your phone asks you to enter a code when you switch it on and; 1) It already has a Sim card in it : then it means you have to enter the Pin Code for your card or the PUK Code if your card has been blocked after several failed attempts to type the right Pin Code.These codes should have already been supplied to you in the Sim Card package. 2) It does not have any Sim Card in it: Then it means you bought a phone that has been designed to work on only one network provider. Both ways the solution would be to either return the phone or contact your service provider depending on which of the above issues you are facing. Hope i was able to answer your question.

you can slide it to answer, you can slide it then press the answer button or you can answer the phone without having to slide it open. You just have to set it the way you want from menu

hi...i got this phone for 18 euros,brand new in the box, with extra battery and 512MB card. Battery very good so far, looks nice, works well...no problem with it....what can i say, i can call with it, i can send messages, listen music and radio...can do al lot of stuff for only 18 EURO....about the camera, well on the market is a device that alow you to make pictures, i believe that is made especially for that, is called camera...some producers like canon, nikon make it....is not the phone fault that has a 1.3Mp camera....is a cheap phone....what more you want it for it?

Hey all!!! It's me again.My last comment was in Last month when i asked about this phone.In the end i bought and i can report that so far so good.Not much to complain about. For those commenting on the camera i will agree that the camera does seem like a VGA. But the Difference compared to VGA can be plainly seen by the Picture size.The camera is really 1.3MP and for those who didn't know, this is only x1.3 better than VGA.So it isn't exactly what you get from a hand-held camera but better than VGA in terms of size and quality. Signal Strength and call quality is extremely wonderful. Speakerphone is very clear and even with the volume at 2 i can put the phone on one end of the table and sit at the other and the i can hear the caller as good as he/she can hear me. The games are not too good though. Sudoku is the only default game and the rest are demos which run out after a while unless you buy it online, and i am not a sudoku fan.The Fm reception is good, but the stereo is worse than what you get in a cheap car radio. But when it comes to playing music it is totally the opposite.The stereo suddenly becomes really good and is second only, if not equal to an ipod. I was heartbroken to find out it did not have GPS and even after i wrote to the phone company they said the same.To be honest i am no longer mad about that anymore.The built in memory is good for a phone at this price and i was able to fit a Music video on the phone in .3gp format and still have memory left for some pictures and ms text messages.The default ringtones are not exactly the type that will have your attention when it rings you will be more likely to say " what is that noise? is that my phone? " rather than immediately ask your friend to excuse you while you answer your phone.On top of that there are not much default sounds to choose from. Graphics and user interface are good and you also have the option of creating your own menu with shortcuts you want that way you can just go to your menu and have everything there rather than digging around the whole phone. I haven't tested it with the internet yet but so i cannot comment on that. My advise is to ho for the Black colored one because it looks really cool plus if the casing does scratch, any black marker can easily hide the discoloration rather than having to choose between light pink or light gray which are other color schemes this phone is available in. The screen size and quality are fantastic.With a memory card installed and some 3d glasses along with the amazing stereo this phone has, i am sure to have one less reason to sit through boring TV shows or go to the cinema when i can enjoy a nice movie from my phone anywhere. Once thing that really turn me down with this phone though is the level of control and certain stupidity LG has placed in producing it.First of all, it only has one connection port. This means that you cannot plug in the earphone while this phone is charging because the charger and earphone both goes and first at the same place. Second of all, if the phone battery is low, it automatically stops you from listening to radio or music.It leave you wondering : who is the boss here? I am still trying to find out if there is a way of overrunning this setting but still it is to no avail. Overall it deserves at least at least 7.5 out of 10. I like it a lot and for what it's worth it does it is better than many phones out there.Once Again please note that I have not tested the internet capabilities of the phone. PEACE!

Hey all! I have a keen interest in purchasing one of these LG GU230. I have been wondering around the net and i am entirely confused because some sites say that this phone has A-GPS and others say it does not have any GPS at all. The good points, has a music player that beats even some top league phones. LOUD, congrats Lg, has plenty of VOLUME, and the eq presets actually do something, live is an awesome setting. Also plays your movies loud through its internal speaker. Screen good for 176x220, thought it was 240x320 as so clear (landscape is a bit polarised though). Camera good enough for 1.3 Mp. The bad, not much for the price £25 Sainsbury's in UK. It's slow to open your stored music and movies, but seems to work fine with my 8gb card. It does too look a little cheap, but actually has some metal in its construction (shame its not better styled). Just as a music player its good, shame Nokia cant make the volume as good as that on their N8, a phone costing 15 times more. If this was an Xmas pressie, for a music buff, they would have a fantastic gift. I aim on keeping this phone for my music.

When i first saw the phone it was good i was shocked to see that such a good phone having slide was really reasonable but after using it i came to know that it will take time to open music player when i pressed the camera button it got stuck every time so i went to the service center he said that the problem can be solved so i gave it to them they kept the phone with them for 7 days but later it worked properly till i reached my house again the same problem the camera got hanged so my sincere advice is to try some other piece

I've bought it in Belgium for 70�. I think it's a little bit too expensive... It's a good phone, but sometimes it's slow... And I really hate slow phones :p But the buttons are good, they're big and there's a bit space between them. I can text fast with it.

here is a brief review of this phone...first i can say it is a great value for money. Those who want a phone running for several days without charging should buy this one. I charged it once and it kept running for eight days although I used it heavily, including talking, listening to music and writing messages...battery life is amazing and i never seen a handset on the market having such a long batery life as this phone. as for other features, camera and MP3 are average but screen is very bright, clear and beautiful...buttons are quite big, clear and well placed...memory on board is only around seven mb but there is an external one which can be as big as 8 gb...phone has radio which let you record favourite songs and video recording is not bad...this is a budget phone but i think is one of the best handsets in terms of value for money... it has some disadvantages but those who care for a long battery life and a simple budget phone can go for this one without hesitation.. any one who has a question can ask me thanks

It's a great mobile i bought it two weeks ago and i loved it it has a built-in mp3 splitter and you can record from the radio player.The camera quality is not bad but you can't zoom in the high quality mode the mp3 player is pretty good and it's java processor is pretty good.The sound quality is pretty good and the speaker is loud after all it's a good piece of value for money

I tried to install LGPC Suite on my computer (Windows XP), but it does'nt work. After going to www.lgmobile.com I get the order to select the language. After that no "Manual & Software" and no LG PC Suite installer appear. Could you help me? My principal interest on buying the GU230 is to connect the mobile withe my computer. Thanks.

I bought lg gu 220 yesterday for rs3400/- Believe me its awesome...compared to nokia in this price range,the available model is 2700classic... LG gu220 has bigger display than nokia 2700c keypad is very soft in gu220 unlike 2700c which is hard to type... opera mini 4.2 works like a charm... vga camera is good at day time... style and slider are awesome... Theres only one prob for me...i use airtel network and signal in my gu220 is not good..goes anyone face the same problem?

I'm hoping this is gonna be the cheapest GPS enabled phone when it comes out. You see that seems to be the tactic with LG i guess. They provide a basic phone with the lowes spec but adds that one feature which makes it unique and is seldom available on phones at this price range. It holds true in most cases with LG phones. GM200 - Basic phone with a superb audio player and battery GD510 - Cheap and inexpensive touch screen phone. KM555 - Basic touch screen phone without 3G but with WiFi. So each phone is targeted at a particular group of users. A person who loves listening to music alone need not spend a lot on an iphone when you can get a pretty good music phone cheaply minus all the extras that he's never gonna use. So I do think this is a good concept from LG.
