This phone was used extensively by my son. It was a nice & cool gadget. Since he migrated to Apple Phone about 2 years ago, this phone is lying idle. However, I decided to try my hands on it. Its works fine except its response is a bit slow and battery is now poor. Sometimes it goes into hibernation on its own forever (does not respond at all) and I had to hard press the switch on/off button to reboot it.

Still using mine daily as a work phone since Google had the runout sale in 2013 just before Hammerhead released (AU$299). Have replaced 2 batteries. Power button gets hopeless but benefits from disassemble and clean internally. Qi charging has been awesome for years. After 5 years the web browsing is now noticeably slower (comparative) to other devices. Today there was a special on Moto G6 Play AU$299. It's hardly better than the Nexus 4 I have for the same price - 5 years later... Best phone I have ever had.

Yes, my wife's Nexus 4 is over 4 years old and still going, but has a few problems. The main one is the on/off switch, which rarely works so we have to leave it on all the time; sometimes the battery runs out and takes forever to recharge. In performance comparisons with my Sony Xperia SP C5303, the Nexus beats the Sony hands down, and is more bulletproof. If I want to do web browsing, I use the Nexus-- much faster. Will keep using this phone until it dies, then consider upgrading to maybe Moto G6S Plus or Nokia 6.1. Will not get an iPhone on principle-- what a ripoff they are?

I bought this touch screen for my E960, then I found the touch screen is laminated with the LCD display, when I separated them, the LCD display was broken too, I ended up buying this touch screen/ LCD/ and frame combination, it is fixed now.

I remember i buy this phone way back 2013, now I'm saving money to buy a new one, but what can i say up until now this phone is like bruce lee, i still love it, in gaming playing final fantasy exvius there's no lag simultaneous cast of different magics, there's no lag still superb, the reason im buying a new one is storage capacity, I'm still aiming for Snapdragon variant it never failed me when it comes to performance.

This phone was the first love of my life back in 2012... I gave it to someone who desperately needed a phone because her phone broke, but I was using it till very later on, I used the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. It was cheap to buy, yet had that premium quality feel to it. It was the closest experience you could get to stock android at the time. It was very advanced at the time of release, to the point the hardware was ahead of most of the phones on the market even two years later... and it's something to say considering the hardware improvement rate of Smartphones exploded since then. So overall, everything ran very well on that phone without a single problem. The only problems bugging me with that phone at the time were the glass screen on the back, the heating and the battery. The back of the phone's glass was a joke : So many friends that had the same phones had this glass cracked less than two months after owning it... including myself. It was mandatory that you bought a very good case as soon as you own the phone. Otherwise, I was playing a lot Robot Unicorn Attack 2 at the time and I remember I couldn't play more than 15 minutes because the phone was becomming stuttery and very hot. As for the battery, it was bearable at first, but the durability dropped quickly after a year.

Fantastic phone, only con is battery issue (or how others have mentioned it turning off automatically.) Mine was going strong for 4+ years, started having same problems. All I did was order a new battery online for it, now it's great again. I think the OEM battery just loses its capacity to hold a charge. But again, this is after 4 years, I'd arguably call that 'standard' :-) TL;DR - Buy a New Battery Online for it, OEM if even possible.

Mine is about 4.5 years old (I'm typing this on my Nexus 4 lol). Works great for the most part. Shut down automatically every once in a while and freezes once in a blue moon, but great otherwise. I've just ordered HTC One M9 and am waiting for it to arrive. Will pass this on to my brother in law, God willing.

Phone has good specs but fails to utilize them. Its a good phone for $135 on ebay but I have to reset quite often because power button fails to work or the phone freezes or hangs. Its like its got a massive brain but doesn't know how to use it. The 5MP camera is terrible though. Compared to an iphone 4 its crap (i don't like apple btw) Still, for the price, I'm happy to put up with its faults since it does pretty much everything.

Yes, has 4G. But wasn't very easy to make work. Search on XDA Forum to enable any 4g band in any Qualcomn chipset.

This phone was so ahead of its time re value for money, when first released 4 years ago, that it is only now starting to show some obsolescence. I've had a no problems throughout my whole ownership, although I think this is because I chose not to move from kitkat to lolllipop (I kept OS at Kit Kat 4.4.4 after a bad experience updating my Nexus 7 to lolipop which subsequently became unusable) I dropped it and it was very expensive to replace screen (more than half the original cost of the phone). The main issue with the phone now is that it has become very slow to load URLs. and battery life is down to about 4 hours with full on use. It's become frustrating so the time has come to upgrade...but to what? Probably another Nexus. This phone was an instant classic upon arrival and I really wish I could upgrade software and hardware on it forever. It's the perfect size and has been the epitome of reliability. It's rarely let me down (has GPS roaming access without network access!!). Blessed.

I bought mine on Order date: 2-Jun-2013. It has had NO dead pixels, NO touch problems, NO battery problems, NO lag. Runs the official Android 5.1.1. Reception is GREAT, GPS is GREAT (it also tracks GLONASS satellites). The apps that I use run GREAT. I've just had a screen protector and bumper on it and only dropped it a couple of times (luckily no scratch). It just WON'T DIE (on it's own). I would buy a new phone but it's like getting rid of your hot girlfriend for a hotter girl just because you're bored... and I'm not that type of guy. SIGH So all I can do is... *clap slowly* ... well played my Nexus 4... well played.

That could as well be due to overuse problem. I realize my middle/lower middle screen wasn't working really perfect, so i installed a glass screen protector and it works fine. I change my glass screen protector every 4-5 months and it feels as good as new!

I will have exchanged battery in few days so I will prolong it's life. What IMHO is unique and I love about it is width x height ratio. If you look at phones the usual ratio is 1280x720. This one has 1280x768. So for reading texts you have phone that looks like 5,2' or something with much more compact form.

You can get an entire screen assembly from ebay for less than $40 and it's easy to replace. I did it even though i actually got a new phone as well - it's hard to not use the opportunity to upgrade. Anyway, the Nexus 4 is still a decent phone and very much usable especially on Android 5.1. I use it when I travel as it is unlocked and the kids play with it.

I bought this phone 3 years ago and it's perfect. Just perfect. Even now it works fine, very smooth, without any lagging. So I am so sorry I dropped it on the floor and now 1/5 of the screen stopped working and it bothers me, even if I can do almost everything thanks to rotating screen. But, surely this is a well worth phone and I recommend it to everybody. And for me, now is time to move on and get another Google device - Nexus 5x :-).

Hi, I had the same problem but I was able to fix it ever since I rooted the device. You can now install Marshmallow 6.x.x operating software although Nougat 7.x.x. is going to be available soon.

Problem i'm having now is that the charge port no longer enjoys having power cords plugged into it and laughably slips them out at the slightest provocation. Thinking about an LG X Power. After exactly 3 years, my screen stopped responding, not completely but partially and I was planning to replace the display (panel+digitizer) and it was costing me around 4500 INR (around 60 euros). But I replaced it with OP3 and believe me it's well worth it if you can invest that much amount of money for a new phone. Nexus 4 was no doubt the best phone I ever had but once something goes wrong with the phone it is better to sell it off rather than investing.

There is no official OTA update to Marshmallow for the LG Nexus 4. You might try a 3rd party build from Cyanogenmod, which is built from the same open-source codebase as Android Marshmallow. I'd warn about voiding your warranty, but with a device as old as this it's most likely expired by now anyway.

I have been using it for almost 3+yrs and didn't got any issues. If you are not a tech freak, then it can run almost all usable android apps upto 5.1. Disappointment is for unavailability of Marshmallow upgrade.

I've been using this phone for a year now and I don't like it anymore, when I finish a call the last app that I used pops open and then dissapears right away. Also the battery life is not good, even though I turn off wifi and GPS and I barely use Bluetooth and I also close all recent apps. The biggest issue I have is that most of the time when I play a video on Photos or on Facebook I can hear the video but the picture freezes... it doesn't happen on Youtube though. I've reseted my phone multiple times and it doesn't fix the problem... I'm about to upgrade to SG Note 4. I did have a good experience the first couple of months but I leave it up to you if you wants to purchase this phone. Not what I expected.

i have been using the phone for 3 years and i have never had such an experience. Maybe you are just a slave of another brand and trying to throw some dust in the people's eyes who haven't had the phone, cause i could not imagine where all these lies come from? Never had such issues like, battery drain and instant restart. I mush mention that i have never uploaded any customer rom, or unlocked the bootloader - this is probably the second option why you could have such an experience? The only cons i have to admit is the camera. Its far cry from the contemporary cameras, but its understandable since there has been 3 years of development from the point Nexus 4 came out. Lastly i do confirm that have a healthy and peaceful relationship with my phone so far.

I have been using LG Nexus-4 for the last two and half years. Very good phone with practically no issues. It is smooth and giving wonderful user experience. The only problem I faced was, the screen broken after falling from a considerable height and the new screen gave lot of touch issues.

Been using this phone since launch. Looked at upgrades but honestly can't find a good reason to move on. The glass sandwich case is still one of the most stylish on the market and still attracts admiration. As smooth as ever and being a basic level of Android, no skins or propriatory software, has been the fist in by group of friends to receive Android updates, often by months. Often had updates others never get. Although at this point it has probably reached the limit of operatiing software updates as the latest build of Android supports features such as finger print recognition which this phone doesn't have. Battery is the original one and still lasts over 24 hours. I've seen lots of complaints about battery life but this isn't my experiece and wonder if those phones have had unreliable third party batteries fitted. Although the phone isn't built to allow removal of battery it can be done, check YouTube. App upgrades have never been a problem. Still pleased with it after all this time.

Nexus 4 is such a mediocre phone overall, but its main flaw is battery. It dies in the afternoon after a night's full charge. And sometimes it drains so fast that charging is not enough, it dies suddenly, even when connected to a charger, and turning it back on is even more painful as it needs to restart all the apps due to the incorrect shutting down (the whole process takes roughly 30 min, with an average number of apps). I would not recommend this device to anybody that wants to have a healthy and peaceful relationship with their phone.

So my 3 year old nexus 4 battery was behaving badly recently , so I decided to replace it with a Nexus 5X and already made an order, after that, I noticed that battery usage goes like this 20% to Messenger and 20% to facebook !!! While I had my FB account deactivated fro two weeks !! I uninstalled the two apps and I feel the battery is fine, shall I just cancel the order and go to the service center and replace the battery ? I checked with them and found its only costing 90 AED to replace here in Dubai (authorized LG centre) I'm just wondering if the phone will be ok after replacing the battery and all , or shall I just proceed with the Nexus 5X which will be arriving this week ?

Hi, regarding your question about what kind of charger is used for your battery. Usually the charger output current should be about half of the batter capacity. For example, for this LG Nexus 4, the battery is rated at 2100 mAh, so a good charger should be around 1000-1200 mAh (may also be written as 1.2 Amp). This phone comes with a 1200 mAh charger. The voltage output is the same on almost all chargers, 5 volts DC (+/- .5volts). If you use too strong a charger you can damage the battery, causing it to swell and destroy the cells inside it. If you use a lower output charger it will work but take longer to charge the battery, and may not charge it to 100%. I also suggest you download and use a battery maintenance program from Google Play store. There are a number of very good apps out there for controling battery charging. I personally like Battery Doctor by Cheeta Mobile, but there are many other excellent similar apps too. I hope this helps you. Cheers, Steve G

Got the updated version (with the nipples) sealed in the box off contract on Google Play for $200. I damaged it twice first it fell out of my kangaroo pocket from jugging in my auto shop face down and second after throughing it onto my bed with my U-lock in the way. The rim isn't gloss gun metal steel it's plastic but thank fully absorbed the blow, screen didn't crack or scratch and hasn't on both sides never used a case or screen protector only got a nick in the glass display smaller than a gran of sand doesn't cut my pinky finger. Excellent phone done a lot of work to the software, only needs a SD card to become my daily. :)

Great phone -- when it works. I have been plagued by issues with this phone. First of all the softkeys stopped working intermittently, and now the right hand side of my screen doesn't sense touches. The softkeys however have magically come back to life. I don't want to spend the $150 NZ to fix the digitizer because I have no confidence that the rest of the phone will remain functional. TL;DR Good on paper, disappointing IRL.

I had this phone in 2013 Feb it went very hot in my pocket for no reason. when using skype it shut it self off for no reason every time i video call on skype. shut it self off when playing 3D shooting games dead tigger. and also get's very hot when playing hardcore games. was not happy with the phone. but now you can get Moto E (2015) and Moto G (2015) same performance as nexus 4. or if you from UK then get Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 £125 which is nearly same as LG G3 performance.

Very bad from Google phone having good specs (Quad Core CPU & 2 Gigs or RAM) no update for 6.0. Even new nexus 5x is having 2 Gigs of RAM. And on the other hand android one is getting update. I think marshmallow will run smoothly if google provide update.We by only nexus to get the update. And know that is also failing even with good specs. Red light problem, doesn't turn on. I know it's not dead as when I changed the battery, changed the charging port, the phone was back to life but only for 24 hours or less at a time. I've been using N4 for 2 years, it was still good but after then my apps were frequently crashed and i don't know why. N4 has less heating problem compared to other phone and the ram is still good (which after the apps crash, it can still function without waiting )

Mine got 50% brightness using wi-fi connection (not mobile data) using facebook app and some games like clash of clans & brave trials without heavily playing just getting some daily log in bonus, some browsing for research again without heavily usage important research only, texting, calling maximum of 2 to 3 minutes, i gain 9 to 10 hrs of battery use. if i got 20 % i switched on the battery saver, if i'm not using wi-fi i turned it off, before i turn it off i use greenify. If i got 20 to 15% of battery use i will use it as my music while travelling home. Based on my battery experience using N4 5.1.1 .

The battery got un-calibrated. Use . You need root of course. Basically, the phone knows the battery's highest and lowest amount of charge. If the phone thinks that 900 mV is 0% of the battery, then it will say that it is at 0% while lasting for hours. This happened with my tablet once. It said it was at 0, then lasted for 18 hours!

I am using the Nexus 4 for almost two years now. I feel there is a software bug, which needs to be looked into. Two days back my phone went dead all of a sudden. I had used the phone about half an hour prior to this and the battery charge shown at that time was about 40%. I tried switching on many times, but it did not come on. I kept it for charging for a long time. But no improvement. Finally after 20 hours, it became on and the charge was shown as nil. I put it for charging. slowly the battery started charging. Why I suspect a software bug is that while observing the battery charge graph, I noticed that the battery charge dropped from about 40 % to zero all on a sudden around 3:30 PM and continued at zero charge even when the charger was on. The zero charge continued for about 20 hours when it started actually charging. Similar instance occurred with the same model which was purchased at the same time used by one of my relatives. Avoid like the plague - and I would argue other Nexus models too. Google "Nexus 4 shutting off" and you will see hundreds/thousand of customers whose phones are unusable as they constantly shut down despite high levels of battery. Completely unpredictable. Google and Nexus have failed to even reply on the issues let alone fix them. Completely unreliable and a shocking product from two supposedly reliable companies. I would not trust a goodle /LG product to fulfil even basic functionality - I.e. staying on!

The phone is fast as hell even after two and a half years of use thanks to the 2 GB RAM and the processor. but storage is a bit of an issue now as the phone has only built in storage of 16GB and no slot for memory card and does not support OTG. The battery life is not good from the starting only. Now if I make approx 2.5 hours of calls and keep the phone running on 3G network all the time it lasts for about 8 hours and thats about it. I think there is some issues with the device I am using or not the device does not support all the chargers and specially those car chargers. All in all if you can still find this device on sale its a good buy for its price.

Pros: - Fast (for its time) - Hardy (I've never broke screen - friend has 3 times in last few months.. so who knows). Cons: - Camera is terrible (The actual specs are fine - but however the hardware is interfacing with the software is terrible. Flash barely works, etc) - Occasionally crashes with current Android releases.

If a screen protector is applied check weather the proximity sensor is covered. If so change the screen protector. If you need to keep it, disable the turn sreen of option in call settings. But not advised

Worst phone ever, the day when I bought this phone its sensor didnt work. Later heating problem, power button problem and after 1 year the touch stopped working. Since it was out of warranty the service centre asked me to pay 5000 bucks. I would not recommend nexus as being a brand I invested 26000 and out of return I hardly got anything to use out of it.

After updating my Nexus 4 to 5.1 lollipop, I did Factory Reset and it solved all the problems. Go to settings -> Backup & Reset -> Factory Data Reset. It will erase everything so better take backup of photos, videos, contacts and messages.

To Felix. Felix I feel you pain buddy.Same thing happened to me. I was in a panic mode too. Thanks to a friend of mine,he helped me to install KitKat 4.4.4 with abd tools. Just download adb tools and do a little tesearch for a tutorial how to install the official rom. No root is tequired for this. Just ask frieds like I did. It's kinda tricky because you have to run scripts from you computer. It wasn't east for me but I did it. Good luck and just read people opinions first about new firmware and bugs before upgrading.

I've had this phone for almost two years. It was fine until Lollipop, and the Lollipop upgrade. Since those two it has been unstable, apps freeze, the phone drops, and if at all possible it seems like Wi-Fi reception has gotten worse. *shrugs* I never thought the day would come but I'm pretty certain my next phone will be an iPhone.

Ok this happens to me quite a lot. What you want to do is charge your phone from a wall plug not from your laptop (that's the 1st thing). Steps to follow are: 1) Plug your charger in a wall socket (doesn't matter if its a USB charger and you add your micro USB cable to it) 2)On your Nexus 4, maintain volume down key and power key for at least 5seconds (say 10 to be sure). Don't rush this and take your time. 3) While maintaining both keys pressed with one hand, insert the microUSB cable to charge your phone. 4) Keep the key pressed for another 10 seconds now with the charger. 5) Hopefully, you should get a screen that comes up with a little Android. You can select options with Up & Down volume keys and confirm with the power key. By default "START' should be selected so just press the power key to confirm. 6) Your phone should now work. Note: This sometimes works without using a wall socket and works from a laptop but it rarely does for me so I wouldn't charge it from a laptop to restart the phone. Once the phone is restarted you can charge anyway you like. This red light happens to me once a month but I got so used to the technique now that I barely loose time when doing it now. For you guys complaining about Lollipop, Just know that 1) Its a newer OS designed for newer phones. 2) All new OS's try to add new features, most of witch take more processing power and don't work correctly. (for an example, look at Apple's IOS 8). This phone is now best for what its not designed to do. That is Ubuntu for phones (https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/start/ubuntu-fo­r-devices/installing-ubuntu-for-devices/). That is what I got this phone for and it is excellent.

The Nexus 4, for the price, is an excellent phone. The finish is very impressive, it feels like a premium phone (more so than a Samsung Galaxy, but the Samsungs weigh less). It's powerful and responsive. However there are some corners that have been cut. The cameras aren't really up to much, they work but they are nothing special. The Phone isn't particularly clear when making phone calls (crackly). The display isn't as bright as the Samsungs, and sometimes can look a bit washed out under bright conditions (a very minor criticism compared to the others though). Also being a Nexus, whilst there is little crapware installed, some of the Google apps aren't as good as best of breed in the Google play store. Also whilst you get the latest updates before other manufacturers, you also get the rough edges as well (i.e. it can be quite buggy when a new major release comes out). Two such persistent bugs include: - Phone reboots quite often when taking pictures (in actual fact this is a kernel crash and in due course will corrupt your storage if it happens too often think computer blue screening). - Random switch offs - or rather refusing to wake up - AKA sleep of death (SOD). If you have experienced the above then both can be fixed by updating the kernel to the Franco kernel and then setting the minimum sleep frequency in the Franco kernel app. BTW just replacing the kernel will fix the camera bug (which Google aren't going to fix as they are introducing a new Camera API... at some point). If you're technical and like to tinker or don't mind the odd rough edges then go for it. Otherwise I'd go for a Samsung S4 - possibly with a Cyanogen Mod firmware. I can't see myself getting another Nexus personally.

Had my Nexus 4 for about a year and half now! The hardware is comparable to today's higher-end mid range phones, despite the fact that it was released almost 3 years ago. Only issue that I have experienced since the day I purchased up until now is that the phone reboots itself frequently when using anything involving the camera (snapchat, taking pictures, etc.) Another (small) issue is that my phone has a lot of scratches, even with very good treatment. But I guess that's what screen protectors are for. All in all, still a great buy if you want a good performing, nice looking, and most importantly affordable smartphone.

I have had this phone new since august. From day one I had issues with it. I ignored them and dealt with it as best as I could until 2 weeks ago when I could no longer receive calls due to the screen blacking out and microphone no longer working at all. The phone began to buzz uncontrollably and shut itself down no matter how much battery I had left. When working the phone itself is great and perfect for what I have required it for. Therefore I hope that LG repair centre is able to restore it to the state it should have been in from the start. Although the phone is prone to faults and has caused some trouble all in all its still a good phone and I don't regret buying it.

It is not as fragile as most people say. I've dropped it multiple times from 45cm or so and it hasn't broken and has no flaws in it's hardware or software. It depends on your lock, and how it falls down. I've got the newest version of android and there are no sudden shutdowns or restarts, and the battery is great. Honestly an awesome phone, I suggest you check it out

Had Nexus 4 for 18 months and best phone I ever had by miles. Now since latest updates annoyingly shuts itself down randomly, which makes me consider a new phone. But nothing much out there appeals so hope they fix the bugs and I get another year of use. For the low purchase price the key positives for me are the wireless charging, calendar feature which Apple doesn't offer, size is just right, not too big not too small, responsiveness & performance still very good, battery life decent. New Nexus 5 & 6 are larger and that is not so convenient for most people - this fits nicely in a pocket. Message is just fix the bugs, maybe make updates optional, or I must sadly look elsewhere....

Keep away from this phone. Have it for a year and a half now, since the lollipop software was installed is full of bugs! Already tried reseting it, still full of bugs: won't connect to mobile network, nor the blutooth and switches itself off. Google does not release any patches to resolve these problems. Awful! I'm extremely unhappy with this phone and these bugs are common with nexus users, not only nexus 4.

I bought this smartphone (16 gb version) in the summer of 2013 and I never had ANY problem with it until a few days ago when I updated it to Lollipop 5.0 It is a known issue and I know Google will fix it with a new update or something else. Besides that...never had any problem. It is seriously a great phone! The picture quality is not the best, but it is not the worts compared to other smartphones.

I've been using my Nexus 4 since 2013 November, bought it for $249 from google play when they announced the Nexus 5. It's been upgraded to the the Lollipop 5.0.1. I never had a single trouble with this phone or after the upgrades. All the upgrades are pushed on time from Google as its available and Its working solid, I am using it for my work and so I have hard cover from Seidio, drop the phone few times no damage whatsoever. I love this phone hoping to keep it for few more years. Not going to buy Nexus 6 as its not worth the price.

Same thing happened to me. All you need to do is update all your google apps, like Google Search and Google now, etc., and download Google Launcher at the Playstore. Hope it helps!

But after d upgrade my phones performance just hiked n d look n feel of lollipop on my nexus 4 has made me fall in love with it n thus have decided to keep my nexus 4 for another yrar . it is an awesome phone with premium build n specs. You can get the images from and follow the instructions. You just need to install Eclipse for Android and then use Android Debug Bridge tool (adb) - will be installed with eclipse-, then in a terminal (type cmd.exe in run menu in Windows). You can flush your device with new image. You need to backup your data first before flushing your Nexus device because it wipes out the Memory. sometime adb.exe gets crashed, then you may need to try a couple of old images first if you are updating from 4.2.2 for Nexus 4 or earlier for Nexus 7.

Seriously, does anybody actually have an idea to why/how this phone got Lollipop? It's update window should be only 18 months long, but it still got the update after 2 years! If anybody has an idea, please tell me because I am planning to buy a Nexus 5 but not sure if it'll get the next years's major update. if you rooted it then patched the update,this is what happens. you lose your data. sry, most sites with that tutrorial mention that. made the same mistake, im afraid its irreversible dude. but you can stillcall and text. its because you updated you verion, but you didnt patch your data, the data you have for that phone isnt meant for the flashed version you have, sry dude.

This is surprisingly a nice little phone, but then it does have a nice quad-core, 2 Gb RAM, etc. Pros: Noticeably fast, loads games/apps and runs them pretty quick. Feels like a nice solid construction and doesn't feel like cheap plastic. Nice clear and sharp high resolution display even in sunlight. NFC and BT works as it is expected. Cons: Can't install a micro-SD for more storage. Speaker volume is horribly low so makes it tough for handsfree calling when driving. Camera vids and pics are horribly blah. Micro-USB jack f*cked up (thankfully still under warranty) and I was told by the place where I bought it that they are seeing this happen regularly with this phone. I've been reasonably lucky other than having my micro-USB jack f*cking up. I've read that some people have problems with crashes and corruption (obvious motherboard/hardware defects), cracks and so on. I have a screen protector and rubber bumper for my device...gotta protect it as I've ruined/killed other cell phones before. I will be happy to upgrade to the N6 soon, and keep this rock solid reliable cell phone as a back up. Ain't no one gonna inherit this device from me. They'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.

So I THOUGHT I understood the process in which batteries work, but apparently I'm all wrong. If my phone is on 60% battery at night and I turn it OFF when I sleep, I will turn it ON in the morning and suddenly it's on 10%. What the hell is that. If I charge my phone in my car and it's on 10% and it says "connected" when I get to my destination and take my phone out it's on 4%. On top of that, I don't know what the screen is made out of but as soon as I use it I get all sweaty over it and it refuses to function. Never had a problem with previous touchscreens. Also, very disappointed that there is no SD card, but that's my mistake because I should've read that up before reading it. All in all, this is my least favourite Android phone I've gotten to date (In the past I've had Galaxy 2, Desire, Milestone 2 and Motorola Pro)

Why, the 4 is a great device. Upgrading to a 5 is nice but if you own a 4 there is no real need as it is still a great device than can manage for at least the end of 2015. Synchronise via the Photos app from Google. Open your account at your PC, Google+ photos is the place you can download them from. Or since you can connect to them in the cloud anyhow, you can always see them on your PC. Since pictures take a few MB, this also helps to keep your PC up to speed

What you have to do to get input your password is.. Attach a normal pc USB keyboard to to your phone via an OTG adapter, then key in your password and that should work. No guarantee but it worked for me. All the best.

But I found some of the keys in keypad little hectic and at the same time I saw at the back of phone, it writer "made in Korea". Is it fake or duplicate? Plz advise. I don't know about lock button but sometimes facing the bottom buttons issue. Looks like mobile is hanged but after lock/unlock, it starts working normally.

CONS - the battery itself is a problem, its jst goes nt more than 3 hrs. the signal reception is worst in dese mobile its jst goes even when ur in full signal area. the signal gets lost if battery goes down below 80%. AFTER UPDATING to 4.4 a new problem is raised while using the camera if you switch on the flash the mobile jst gets off. it happens on regular basis. pros - one of best cpu n ram....playing games is absolutely fav experience... controls are gr8... to make nexus is gr8 series google need serious work on battery and also signal reception.

Hi guys, I bought Nexus 4 last June'13. The problem is that it gets heated up so much that i cannot hold it in my hands even when normal browsing. I dont play games on this. With skype call on 3G, gets heated up also. On WiFi, doesnt. Sometimes, when it is in pocket, suddenly it heats up. Even rebooting, doesnt help. I googled this problem and found that LG has forgotten to put a heat sink over the processor. Gradually, due to this heat, battery life also goes down. I am experiencing this also.

hi...i may help with the full screen(transparent status bar and navigation bar) you have two options. 1.. update your phone to 4.4.2 kitkat. the second is thst you root your phone, go to xda and download xposed installer..open, install the framework under modules... reboot then under downloads search for xblast tools or gravity box. you have options to make both transparent.. hex code is #00000000 for transparency.. i hope this helps

Hey, I just bought Nexus 4 and noticed that minor dots (may be pixels) are appearing all aver the screen in regular pattern when screen is on and it is more visible when on bright and white screen. 4 months and I have to say: never thought Google would disappoint me so badly (I'm a Google Fan Boy and I would never recommend Nexus 4 to anyone). Here is my view of this phone: - Do not upgrade for Android KitKat, your battery will last 6h at most on a stand-by with Wifi on. - I was obligated to downgrade from KitKat because the power button stopped working and to fix it, I had to hold it down for 15 seconds to force reboot everyday (yes, everyday). - After I downgraded, the phone was a lot more pleasant, but in last than 2 weeks usage, the camera stopped working properly; now when I take picture, the camera freezes and takes 2 to 3 seconds to complete the task. - This week my mobile wifi connection stopped working. I've tried 3 different places with wifi connection (home, girlfriend's home and work place). The wifi would connect normally, but neither website nor google maps would work. The problem cease to exist after a week and I have no idea why. - Windows computers no longer recognize my phone as a media device. I've tried changing the USB configuration at Storage Information, tried turning on USB Debugging, etc, etc. Just can't access my phone storage through a computer. - The back of the phone is made of weak glass. When I bought it, I didn't know there was a skin that could be placed at the back of it to prevent it from breaking. The first fall my phone took was about 15 inches and it landed on it's back. Glass broke. I migrated from Sony Ericsson Sk17i (Mini Pro) to this phone. Huge price leap and huge hardware configuration. Turns out, I think Android 2.3 was just less buggy than the new versions. Every now and then the OS bugs something.

is very fragile and has a manufacturer's defect that causes it to overheat. also if you buy the handset insurance they will charge you a deductible that is equal to the independent price of fixing the device. once the screen is damaged it probably won't work at all. a large percentage of people who bought this phone cracked the display within the first month. i have never broken a phone in my life, and had a hard protective case on it, yet a small drop (less than a foot) cracked the display and rendered it completely unuseable- one crack from lefthand upper corner to righthand upper corner.

The desire 500 is a good midranger( rven quite good i must say) but it cant step on the lil finger of the nexus. Better display, better cpu, better gpu, better chipset, better RAM... Loool... Where do u live dud ? Cuz, here in Bulgaria, i can find almost everythin that i need for my Nexus 4. From cases and protectors to qi wireless charger. And what's that stuff bout the back glass breaks in days/weeks? Rofl.. if you're droppin your phone every single day, then yea.. probably. Althought i must say, it can scratch rly easy. For two months my back is rly kinda scratched just from being in my pocket. The same goes for the restart just press power + volume up for like 5 seconds and the phone will restart. The only minus is realy that there is no sd card extension, but 16 GB is more than enough for me. With the huge amount of cloud storages i dont think it's that so bad. Once again i must say that i'm very very very pleased with my Nexus. I dont regret my choice at all, of course nowadays there are better phones that one can buy, but the price-specifications is still amazing, even in 2014.

I have Nexus 4 for six months now. I use it all the day and I can say the following: Good: 1- Affordable price 2- Good Screen size 3- Good specifications 4- General good design 5- Regular Google android updates (like the KitKat update) Against: 1- The glass back is not good. It usually breaks into pieces within few days/weeks. You have to be very careful otherwise you will have to buy a back replacement. 2- Fixed �black� background will drive you crazy and strain your eyes. There is no option to change it unless you install third party apps such as launchers (which usually come with ads and annoying privacy things, etc). 3- No restart button. You have to switch it off then go to the key again to start it. I had Galaxy s 3 in the past and I really miss this feature here in Nexus 4. 4- No microSD slot. 5- Non-removable battery. 6- Hard to find accessories (screen protector, cover, case, etc). Many shops do not sell Nexus 4 and many staff there do not care about it!. Everything is available for iPhone and galaxy while nexus almost does not exit.

Are you accidentally covering the sensor on the top left corner of your phone with something ?...when a call is in progress...the screen blacks out when something obstricts this sensor as a mechanism to save power. Could this be what is happening with you ?. Try cleaning up any dust on your phone.

I'm using it for 2 months now, and I'm more than happy with my Nexus. With the 4.4.2 update and Nexus 5 Launcher it works extremely fast and smooth. I've never had a single second of lagging. Althought the camera is a lil bit disappointing, but for me it's not that much of a problem. The main disadvantage of the device is the not very good battery life. I have to charge it every day if i use it a lot. On normal usage it could last a day and a half, but it's still not much. Every1 who is considering buyin this phone, my advice is - go for it ! You wont regret your choice. However if you can afford Nexus 5 i guess you should go for it. But the Nexus 4 is still an awesome device.

So far this is the best phone I ever had compare to S3, lg optimus 4x, and iPhone 4s (I owned all).it is fast and stable (trust me never hang even once through the year).. But the camera performance really poor. You can update the camera by using camera360 and it become great. The only thing annoy me is the battery.. Only can last 12 hours max and it took 4 hours to charge full.. Geezzzz because of non removable battery, it can't be replaced unless you bring it to service center. Memory is another problem, 16 GB is barely enough for songs, images and also apps...

Well, most say that Nexus 4 has better calling quality than Nexus 5. But as such, there isn't any big differences....same speed no lags. Nexus 5 only has an upgrade to camera and design. Nexus 4 with Kitkat version is pretty cool. Your choice :)

It can not record the calls from KERNEL. Only one way it records. Since the ear piece volume is very high, all recorder uses the mic itself for recording both ways. You can use call recorder by SKVAlex from Play Store.

The nexus 4 is the best spec's you will get for the price. The grand quattro is nowhere to be compared to the Xperia ZR or the Nexus. The same goes for the Desire 500 and Xperia L aswell. They're to be considered as "budget" phones. Althought it depends on what amount of money you're willing to spend. Since u wrote those models, i suggest that your budget covers them all. So if you ask me, the real question is Nexus 4 or Xperia ZR. Basicly they're similar in specs. The Xperia is even better in camera, has the expansion slot has more pixel density(ppi), but has smaller 4.55" TFT display vs the Nexus's 4.7" TRue HD IPS+ display (which i think it's waaay better). With the Xperia you will also get Sony custom UI and other features. But the price of the Xperia is higher. If you dont bother about the price, and u don't care when you gonna get Kitkat and you're not the type who seeks "stock android experience" go for the Xperia. But if you don't care about the camera that much, and if you think that 16 gb of internal memory is enough (like i think) you will get the same amazing performance of cpu, gpu and stuff for a way lower price. In final - it depends on personal prefer. Both are amazing phones, no doubt about it. You have to chose for yourself which will suits you more. Good luck with your choice :)

hi guys, i've bought my Nexus 4 early December 2013, but after using it for two weeks noticed a problem with the video call. no matter what video call app i'm using (skype, line, tango) the phone reboots after two minutes. not sure whats the problem, i have taken it to the service center as its under warranty, but as every body knows, they never admit to a problem. i wonder if any one have experienced such problems with their Nexus 4?

About the speed and lag, Nexus 4 is more speed like fluid without lag even by playing high resolution or 3d games. advise: if you want to buy LG G pro please just compare this to Galaxy S4 i9506 series.

If you have the 4.4.2 KitKat update we most probably won't be getting another android update for a while. Try a factory reset? I rooted my phone and put a custom ROM onto it which improved my performance greatly, not to mention that I haven't experienced any lag/crash/or anything out of the ordinary!( using latest version of purity ROM). After all this phone was labeled the developers phone anyway. A ROM is defenetly with it if you like to get the most out of your phone!

i notice that the stock camera app reboots randomly after updating to kitkat 4.4.2 is there anyway to fix this? or i just wait for the next update to come?

go to setting - app - all and search for google services framework and open it then force close and clear data then go to about phone search for update if u did`nt find update repeat again

I am using this phone from last 20 days , the performance of my nexus 4 is really nice.. The only problem I have is , this phone got hanged when I was using face unlock .... On the other hand playing high end games on this phone is a pleasure... So if u wanna buy it then go for it...

used this phone for over a month now. before i was an iphone 4 user. my comments: the battery is worse than the iphone. really have to disable a lot of features to get it through a day. the next negative is the camera. also worse than the iphone. autofocus is slow and lastly is the speaker which is also poor.. other than that. love the phone. love the screen. love the smoothness of the android. no lag whatsoever

i bought the phone since a weak right now 1- The phone design and looking are awsome 2- I upgraded it to kitkat and really the soft never hangs and really smooth 3- The Camera is very good at daylight but in dark its not what i expected , but u still can take a good pictures with it in the dark 4- The battery last 14 hours (internet + facebook + at least 1 hour gaming - some times shooting pictures too) 5- Im satisfied by this phone , and it worth his price sorry for my bad language , and im ready for any question :)

Go the settings option in your music player. Maybe the volume output is 100% on the left side, toggle it back to the centre.

slow charge=long life, if u want fast charge, you can use bigger charger, like tablet charger.

Try charging the phone once it reach 20%. Don't let it go below 10%.. It is not good for batteries life....
