Go to XDA Developers First, you need to have rooted phone (there are plenty of ways to do this, search how to do it), and then Unlock it with FreeGee (free program through the play store) and install Twrp recovery. This is quite easy and for a starter , won't take more than 15-20 minutes :) You just have to download the rom, move it to the storage of the phone, and then install it through the Twrp recovery. It's that easy, and this recovery is touch-screen while others are not :) I did put the latest nitrogen 7.1.2 on mine and it made it a new phone, for real!

I have bought this phone about a year ago, it was cheap enough and the phone has great peformance even for now. It can do everything without problems. I would like if it would have a newer Andriod OS but its ok only the batery has recently started to show its years. Tbh Im amazed what peformances this phone has, its better then some new ones today.

I'm using LG Optimus G E975 almost for 4 years. Has folen from my big hands to the ground so many times, that I can't count them, but the bumper cover, the gorilla glass and probably the firm phone construction till now saved every situation. It is very responsive, no problems at all, only the battery is showing his age in the last months. Yes, the camera is rather disappointing, probably for bad lens construction, otherwise a very good phone.

I was browsing through the forums and couldn't find this problem so hopefully someone can help. My touchscreen is completely out of wack. I touch an icon at the bottom of the screen and it will select an icon at the top of the screen, when receiving a call it wont let me slide to answer or ignore the call. The phone is not rooted, It just started acting up out of nowhere. Tried restarting the phone but still happens. Now my phone is stuck with 'Account Unlock' screen, but when i try to sign in it just wont let me type. I have been using this phone since 3.5 years now and till yesterday it was perfect. what could be the issue? hope someone can help me with this.

Running model E976 in MX, almost four years later and phone is still running great !! No real reason to change, used Moto G, LG 3 and Xperia Play. Best pic, at least amongst those. Used Iphone 6 and Samsung S6, has more but for the money, it would be expected.

You can only use 4G on international variant like E975. U might have e970 (at&t) or F180 (korean) which can not be used in Pakistan with 4G because of frequency difference.

Even without root, camera is very decent with Camera MX. Battery life is very good if you are watchful of your apps' update frequency in terms of weather, notifications, push mail, etc. Check the option to manage the processor core performance & use Greenify (don't need root). If you root, check out LG-E975 Nitrogen OS (CM13, aka Android 6/Marshmallow). All sensors working, stable & good battery life

My experience with it (I'm on Cyanogenmod 12.1) is that battery isn't that bad at all and the camera is still better than those found in most mid-range phones (which is the price bracket of this phone, if you can find it available). Being essentially a different version of the Nexus 4, I was expecting better 3rd-party ROM support (read official CM13), but don't mistake this as a complaint. It's a 2012 phone that still bodes more than well by 2016 (mid-range) standards! I don't know what more could you expect from it battery and camera-wise.

No, you have capacitative keys below the screen. However, if you really want on-screen navigation keys, you can use 3rd-party apps/ROMs to do just that (disabling or not the capacitative keys, whatever you like the most).

I am using this for last 2 years. No hanging. It's workhorse, with a simple cover it becomes extremely strong. Once I dropped it in bucket of water. Dried it for 30 mins and it was working perfectly. 32 gab memory is huge. With more than 500 songs in it and 500 pictures it has got 10 gb left. Battery is weak especially on mobile internet. Works well on wifi. Needs charging every day. Company charger charges slowly so I use high capacity charger

4.4.2 should be the latest. If you want lollipop, check xda forums ;) I have AICP 5.1.1. and works great. To install custom rom (firmware), you need to root your phone and for more info, check xda-developers forums.

Yes I do agree. When it comes to performance, it really beats samsung S3 to S5. It doesn't lag at all. But when it comes to camera, it's really ahhh... never mind. But I won't trade this yet to other phones than LG G models. It's in Korean but was able to convert it to International, have done it plenty of times, without any problem.

My e975 few minutes ago switched to DOWNLOAD MODE (can't turn on, only visible warning: "download mode, do not unplug the device until the process is complete"). I can't find any info on internet about new updates, As I remember, when last time I saw same notification - i received KitKat update! will it be Android 5.0? we will see :) Great cellphone, it could be perfect with OTG function (to connect USB devices).

Say no recent apps running after you clear recent apps in Task Manager by long press home button. If you play game in PPSSPP for example, after you tired play game, you exit, the true sequence should go back to menu or to homescreen. In this LG Optimus G my previous Android (KitKat 4.4.2) sometimes I when I exit PPSSPP, automatically Chrome will open by itself in no more 1 second then close by itself, sometimes Contact open and close by itself, sometimes other app.

Korean US and Europe have a separate license to manufacture cell phone according to there country bandwith and network.. And license code SHW for korea. Whatever phone we are using, keep out of children and take care of it, although the phone said that covered Gorilla Glass 2, we can't guarantee it will no effect after it is dropped. If the screen, other buttons or other things don't work after the accident, take it to LG Mobile Service.

MY 19 year old sister accidentally dropped my LG Optimus G E975 and the screen cracked (Making it not work from about 3/4 of the screen) and all the buttons fell out some how, and we lost them. After a few days, phone wont charge (Red light wont come on) and am planning on getting a new phone.. Phone was very good the time I had it though Highly recommended, other than the fact that the battery doesnt come out, and that the back is very difficult to come off. Simcard is located on the side, same place as the iPhone 4s (Current phone, hate it.)

I managed my problem. Here is advice, it is worth of trying: I consupted my battery to the minimum, my OG turned off and over night while I was sleeping it recharged itself. after that I consupted my whole battery again to 10% and I connected it on my original AC adapter and after 20 minutes I cheked and my LG gave me info that will be charged in approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. That is like it was as in new condition :) Happy end.

Not sure about fix issue of Knock Code. So far, I haven't hear new update again since KitKat 4.4.2 rolls out. About battery life, it is very depend on many factors, I frequently use it, it can last for 4 hours more till 5 hours I guess.

My previous LG E975 in Jelly Bean 4.1.2 was problem with camera app, sometimes it happens, blank black screen when activate camera, only icon loading when activate camera. If this happens I can't use camera, should be restarted to make it normal again. While in KitKat, the camera issue is fixed, but it has little bug in multitasking apps. For Knock COde, yes, it is hidden, you can't open the setting to view it without installing Quick Shortcut Maker app. I had tried, the Knock Code given by LG in E975 worked only for double tap to sleep, but didn't work for double tap for wake up. LG E975 is old now, you would be better find better perfomarance with choosing LG Optimus G Pro E988 or G2.

I have og for year, as my secondary device, it has premium built quality and no flavs, very fast, no heating, only camera could be better. Batery still last for day and half. I play a lot's of games, without any issues. Very good phone

My previous LG E975 doesn't act like you post. From Jelly Bean 4.1.2 till KitKat 4.4.2, I could take screenshot with the same way. All work fine, except the multitask system that rather not good. Try recover it or re-update if the KitKat doesn't act properly.

In my experience, this seems to be a problem affecting some phones on the latest KitKat update. It does not appear to be a hardware issue. I had the same problem which gradually developed within a month or so after updating to KitKat. The phone used to work with no issues on JB, and after reverting back to 4.1.2 (rooted stock), the phone works perfectly fine again, with no "ghost touches".

Actually, the LED notification is on/off is hidden. The default settings is off, if you would like to activate it on for WhatsApp, Skype, WeChat, Yahoo! Messenger, etc, you need install Quick Setting Maker app. With this app, you can open hidden Setting like KnockOn adn LED notification.

It's still an amazing phone but it's one that's increasingly harder to find in stores. This is bad news for us, as manufacturers usually only make updates for phones which are still being sold in large quantities somewhere in the globe (they do it to make that old stock look more appealing to the costumer and thus generate revenue by selling those units). Rooted, delete unwanted apps sound good. In my opinion this way usually done by users who don't have high end phone. LG Optimus G is high end model and have better features and specs compared mid end. No root prevents users loss warranty an brick, so it is better stay with no root. :-)

Thanks :) yes your right. So far its good, i haven't encountered any problems yet. The standby battery life is great on me, it can last for 2days tops if im only using it for sms and short calls, but not so good when it comes to games(im playing asphalt 8 and Cytus frequently) but so far this is really a fantastic phone, i hope they will upgrade it to Android L soon.

The whole process finished without any problem but the software version remained the same (4.1.2). I ran the support tool again and once again it started to download the same update. KitKat 4.4.2. is very good, even there is a little bug in multitask. Optimus G has guest mode (hidden in Settings, can't be seen without third party app), I've tried it, it works. Only the KnockOn, KnockOn in this phone works only for double tap to sleep. Overall is good.

Touch is work in my LG. For games, maybe KitKat version games not as many as Jelly Bean version. Yes, apps sometimes open by itself but they aren't opem like user open them. For example, I previously browsing via Chrome, after I close it, I play game in emulator app, when I finish the playing game (close the emulator), the Chrome will appear in new about blank tab (like user open it) then close it auto automatically.

My LG is fine. No touch error. Only bug like no LED notification if receive email, WhatsApp, WeChat, Skype, Facebook. The multitasking sometimes shows no running apps (like hidden, but actually it's active). If I exit from playing ePSXe for example, my LG will show a while the last I open app then disappear again.

Have to agree with Mohammad. I love the changes (more QSlide apps & smoother UI) and have not encountered any problems thus far (other than the fact that some of my system settings have been reset so I had to do them again which is probably for the best to see the little changes KitKat brings us -good or bad). It's sad that we don't have Knock On or Knock Code. Hopefully in a future(?) update. Fingers crossed.

My LG E975 i KitKat 4.4.2 too, for default browser and Chrome browser, they can do desktop view, I tried, did checklist on the box. Most of phones have been designed to be set at mobile view for browsing internet. For the dialer, the display for me is OK. So far I OK with KitKat.

DON'T GO FOR KITKAT UPDATE. My LG Optimus G got update 2 days ago and I'm sorry I let it be installed. KitKat 4.4.2 has a lot of bugs. The main dissapointment is that the browsers( explorer and chrome ) doesn't have text reflow or text wrap and therefore option mobile/desktop view is not functioning, the webview is allways on desktop view. Second, the new look of the dialer is poor, the original was better. Third, not working smooth and crashes.

i have f180l frm korea, its good, the only diference is it has antenna for mobile tv. the international version of optimus g which is e975 has no tv antenna. although the firmware are in korean, you can change that in english, however, ther still korean character on keyboard and dial pad.. i love my f180! and its much cheaper than e975 variant.

Yes some of bugs that I encounter so far: - LED notification doesn't work for all social messaging apps except for charging, missed call, sms - If you turn "ok google voice command" from any apps then you will not able to take video using your phone since your mic's permission seems to be occupied by other apps. It shouldn't be like this - LED flash in camera also have some permission issue to be used by other apps - Battery performance becomes poorer even after you set all of things that can save power (turn off gps, set eco mode, power saver, screen timeout, screen brightness). If we take a look battery usage statistic from settings, it shown your display eat almost 50% of your power. Physically when you touch your phone's screen, it is quite hot - No knock on & knock code (it is not a bug, but I stated this as my hope to get this cool feature)

I think that it depends on which firmware you had on JB, you have to wait for that particular type of firmware for Kitkat. If you had e97510h-eur-xx, you have to wait for europe open version... Although it is my opinion, doesn't mean that I'm right. :) Does someone know does it matter if your phone is or was rooted? My phone was rooted, I've unrooted it with some apk, but I haven't done factory reset since then, could that be a problem?

It was almost the same, the way to upgrade on LG G2. If you said the file said should be more than 1 GB, than it was weird the lg-phones firmware website gave the most file many countries for LG Optimus G were 1 GB.

It works perfect, everything works. Why wouldn't this be legal update when works on my debranded phone. 3G works, wifi, bluetooth, nfc, everything. Keyboard is diferent and much precise. Camera is better in my opinion, now we can chose W10 resolution, and on JB it wasn't there. Here is no knock on/off. I don't know if there will be in future updates??? Battery life is longer. Auto brightness is much precise and I have feeling display is brighter 😃 I didn't do factory reset and on such settings I did Antutu and I become score over 20 000 which is better than galaxy s3 and also I know if I do hard reset this score will be bigger. One little which I like, NAME OF PHOTOS FROM CAMERA now have name in form hh.mm.ss there isn't those stupid numbers from zero, which every time when I do hard reset I have two-three different photos with same names. P.S: my username is also this one "caffe 8"

Just go to lg-phone-firmware, choose your device and download kdz file 20A from Italy, Spain or Netherlands and install it on your phone through USB cable and kdz updater ;) I did it and everythin works perfect. Only thing from vodafone is logon screen and everything else is like on non-branded LG firmware

My phone model is F180L, and I tested the 3G internet it is working. Not tested the 3G video call because at the time I was in Lahore that facility was not available by carrier. You need to have the internet setting in your phone to use the 3G and you should be in the 3G coverage area. Select the WCDMA only option in the network setting and enable data 3G will work as long as you are in the 3G area, if network type is auto set you to convert to 2G (GPRS) when out of 3G area For the information E975 and F180L , F180K , F180S all are exactly same handset only baseband is different. AT&T and Sprints LG Optimus G are however different sets.

lg optimus G or F180k are both same handsets the only difference is that first one is a company specified and second one is made for a mobile companies i.e atnt , sprint etc. and yes f180k is available in Lahore and supports 3g,..I have used it on my telenor network and it worked! hope that helps.

Firstly @ Babu 008 I completely accept your opinion coz even I'm having the same issues. Camera clarity is too bad and the mobile heats up like hell. My Samsung Monte(3MP) does a lot better than this. I restored the mobile 3 times still the same Finally I took it to Service center and they said I have to change the camera glass as it has some scratches on it and I have to pay 3k for that. E975 is the INT version (English rom) F180 is the korean version (korean rom thoug language can be changed and rom can also be changed by rooting it) otherwise no difference same hardware and software like QSLIDE etc. Don't worry about the heating problem I've F180 i used it continuously heavily (more than 4 tasks like downloads from torrentz and playstore simultaneously ,extracting files and playing an HD video there was no lag at all and the phone did't not get heated up(I mean just slightly which is not a problem even if it gets it woould not have been because it was under full load for minutes) Also it is unit dependent too this is why warranty is provided but not for heating up problem I've had an xperia S , xperia ray,Lg Lte all had this issue but never troubled me so go ahead whichever is available in your area F180 or E975

Yeah mine too, LG Otimus G E975 is a good phone, but its screen is tooo fragile. My phone fell from the sofa while it was in the company supplied Leather Flip Cover and yet its screen cracked in my palm as soon as I after I picked it up and looked at the screen. Moreover, many other smartphones in the market still work with the screen cracked, so we can atleast be sure of creating a backup of important files. I am very disappointed by the accessories i.e. the cover provided with the phone, as Its screen had earlier broken on the third day of its purchased even when it the floor from the right upper corner where the outer white plastic is.

Using e975 for a month and fully satisfied . All those complaining overheating , it has builtin limiter which wont let the device overheat . Play heavy game for some time and try increasing brightness it wont let you untill temperature is normal . No lagging whatsoever. Battery life is good , heavy usage makes me through 16-18 hours easily . For me its a best buy in this budget .

Hi guys. I would tell this phone is amazing. the Camera is good, i have the 13Mp version. The battery stands up to 18 hours on normal Wi Fi & 3G Usage. It does not lag cause it has 2Gb of Ram. And the price is wonderful. Just for 275 - 290 $. this phone really worths a lot. The games have an exellent performance. I paly Thor or Dugeon Hunter or Asphalt and never it has shut down the game. Really recommended

Totally agree with you. The first 2 options I don't know. Because I never used radio. But the last 2 options I agree with you. The screen is very very bad. I already changed it once due to touch not working. But now again its gone and this time they are saying I have to buy it even though I am still on warranty period. What on earth they made this screen with !!! Touch screen change 2 times within 1 year.... The problem is its auto focus. Overall its a good camera. Compare it with Xperia Z and you will know. Yes its not as S4/G2 or even G pro but still better than other cameras. 1 out of 10 shots are excellent for me. In fact some images are highly detailled. I don't think changing LG optimus F180L to e975 gives a problem. I have an F180L and turned it to e975 local version. No issues with signals. As a matter of fact, I could connect to LTE networks and go beyond 20 mbps. For storage issues, all that needs to be done is a hard reset which is fairly easy. Overall, changing F180L to e975 is a RISK FREE process. (Given that you're knowledgeable of what your doing =D)

I have to say, this phone is really cool! I had the Korean version two days ago and successfully converted it into Philippine version (e975). It's fast, doesn't lag, doesn't heat up too much, and the design is simply fantastic. I have to say though, the screen gets all dirty after a few minutes of holding it. It's a fingerprint magnet. The LED flashes for notifications. battery holds up good. Fast internet. I could even connect to LTE networks here in my location =D lucky me.

I am having some operation feature doubts/problems: 1)I changed the language to ENGLISH (UK) from settings. and in Keyboard option I selected only English. De-selected the Korean language too. The QWERTY keyboard is having now ENGLISH keypad only.But when using phone Dial-pad it shows Numbers in both ENGLISH and KOREAN languages which cumbersome to use. Also when typing Mobile No.s in messaging(SMS) it shows Korean numbers more prominent than ENGLISH No.s which is very difficult to use. 2) When i make a call to a contact no. which not contains country code(eg.+91) it ask options which country to call ie 1)Call to Korea 2)Call to Local which is annoying everytime i am making outgoing call. I bought a Korean F180S in Canada, and flashed the ROM for the E975 international version. No Korean characters anywhere. Everything works, except LTE (hardware doesn't support different frequencies), and FM radio, but I don't need them, anyway.

Too bad. It can't display SIM contacts, so you will always have to copy your SIM contacts to phone. Once you key in a few contacts (Into Phone) and forgotten to copy to SIM. when you change phone or reformat, all remaining new contacts will be lost forever.

Sadly optimus g doesn't support otg.. Bcoz the pendrive cant get sufficient power from charging port of ph... But i read that there is a y shaped cable otg... One arm ofhead is inserted to ph the one to pen drive... N other to a power supply v approximately i suppose...... This i read in xda site.. Vety lengthy. .. Why not try attaching external powered hard drive....

HEY i am just stopped from buying this for only those three mentioned issues. u can solve it by rooting then flashing international version of E975 rom(choice is yours -stock or custom ~ i prefer stock) available on lg site then download F180L's base-band version again to flash it to make ur GSM band working again then there will be no korean apps , if u find others country bounded apps then delete as ur phone is rooted then unroot it for better stability.! now u r good to go like u r having an INTL E975 .!

Hai...I am from Kerala, India. I have purchased one E-975 from local LG authorized dealer. I tried to connect my 4gb pen drive using otg cable but my mobile never detects the same. I checked the same with my friends same model mobiles and that was also not working. We changed the otg cable and pen drive and then also no response. I approached LG dealer and LG Customer Care for knowing more details why the OTG is not working. But they didn't given any correct reply. One person told that Optimus-G doesn't have the USB OTG facility, another told that they don't know how to connect the OTG. Another person told that some additional software/application is require to activate the OTG function, but he don't know more regarding the same. So somebody please help me by giving the required details at the earliest.Thanks in advance.

To Faisal Hayder You just need to root it, which is just a one-click method. You can then remove the sms character limit and you'll still get OTA update if any comes up. Plus the camera lens gets scratched a bit since it pokes out but nothing other then that. No signal problems or anything of that sort and web browsing is literally blazing fast

I bought this phone last month and so far its great! If you're worried about battery life, the phone has a power saving mode plus an 'eco mode' which prolongs battery power. If that is not enough for you, you could simply download an app like Battery Doctor or Juice Defender to further improve battery life. As with every phone, heavy use such as playing a game like 'Real Racing' or 'Asphalt 7 or 8' will generate heat and thus reduce battery life. The camera is great for the average user, the responsiveness on the phone is great, even with power saver on. The display is crisp, even in direct sunlight. My phone restarted a few times on a few occasions after I downloaded an update from the LG software program. However, I did a factory reset and it works perfectly now. As for people who report the back glass breaking, its simply about being careful with your phone. Depending on your lifestyle, this phone may not be for you as it should be handled with care tbh. All in all, its a great phone. Personally I have no regrets buying it. This is my 2 cents.
