  • how to change language in greek to english, can you help me please?

  • how to change language in greek to english, can you help me please?

  • you are right :))

  • i forgot my password and i cannot open my mio a702.what should i do?

  • hi, i'm a mio a702 user for over a year. i have not encountered any problem not until today. the mio recovery partition seemed gone on my device. i tried sync my phone on the pc, still, it is not found. how will i restore mio recovery partition?

  • nah iphone isnt cool i say htcs are all iphone killers

  • Just had the same problem. Baud 57600 and Comm2 also worked for me.

  • no GPS software, not included Java, we did not run anything Java. has problems with setting the default keyboard, depending on installation language you use, you will find the translation error and differences in interface and shortcuts. no default keyboard emulation phone numbers on display, the buttons you can quickly delete. Phone or mail to contact the manufacturer for help, no updates for many bugs, etc.. I also bought a model from Romania, you can not find compatible applications just difficult and few, especially games. My model has an internal partition of 1Gb .. about both very bad english...

  • I can only recommend HTCs smartphones - or maybe the iPhone if you care for absolute coolness.

  • could somebody tell me how can i do reinstall of the windows on my mio a702,my mail is [email protected] thanks a lot

  • to mikimaus: no it cannot serve as a radar detector but some gps software (for example igo8) have the major video camera locations and there is a audio alarm when you approach any of them. so install igo8 and the software will tell you when you get near any

  • I've played with it in a store. It looks OK, but it comes without any maps. You have to buy them separately and it cost aprox. 200 Euro extra + aprox. 450 the phone....which is a lot. Any idea if you go to "the guys" they can install you the maps??

  • When the phone rings the GPS pauses and you answer the phone, that means you can talk, and the GPS comes back when you hang-up the phone.

  • You can answer and speak on the telephone while the gps is active and it does not work like a radar detector there are lists of radars and it alerts when you go near to that coordinate.

  • To Romanian owners: I've heard that it works also as a radar/camera detector? Is this true? And while using GPS, if you receive a call there are problems? Thanks for the answers!!!!

  • I have had my A702 bought it in Thailand since almost the begining I have had a problem with sound I can and they can hear calls but no music or ringtones, Mio's so called service told me to take the 702 back to Tailand $1000.00 airfair but also where totaly unhelpfull for me and my friends never again any kind of Mio

  • I want to listen to the radio on the phone, but i can't install the MunduRadio application on my PC.Can you tell me how? Thanks

  • I'm somewhat puzzled as to why people are comparing this device to certain other products on the market, such as the N95 etc. Last time I saw an N95, it relied on a net connection to provide maps for the current GPS area and even still, it did not actually have any routing software (I'm open to correction here if the situation has changed). I've recently used an E66 (another Nokia GPS-enabled phone) and the maps seemed incredibly slow (scrolling/zooming etc). I've just purchased an A702 which came with routing s/w included, and of the maps of course therein. Map scrolling zooming was much better than with either of the Nokia devices mentioned above. Despite what I've said, I'm a Nokia advocate and was thinking to get an N82 (basically an N95 in different form factor) when I saw the A702, which seem to good value to pass up. I hope it will stand up to regular use as a phone, not juse as a PDA/GPS.

  • I also am trying to get TomTom Navigator 6 to work on A702. I have downloaded TT onto 2GB microcard. When I put it in TomTom comes up but it trusted certificate. I saw your previous answer but how do you configure GPS and change the Baud rate?

  • Dear Marco, It is truly wonderful to have an intelligent assessment. The main drawback you point out for me is the Wifi/blue tooth inadequacy. Is there another device you would suggest, with both keypad and writing recognition, as well as a decent camera, that you find preferable? Henry

  • Mio A702 is a pretty cool device, with some pros: - *really* bright display and torchlight - excellent GPS - 890MB of RAM - nice keyboard - good camera - good performance with MioMap - low weight - really loud speaker, this one can beat a lot of people in subways playing hiphop music, but your heavy-metal is louder :) Yet the downsides: - WLAN (CSR combo Wifi/BT chip) *sucks ass*. It takes sometimes 20 tries to connect to an AP that is 2m away, and you can't initiate a full AP scan. - Microsoft Multimedia Framework not implemented => no barcode reading, as software can't access the cam - WiFi scanners not supported, I suspect similar issue to above - No joystick - this is real sucky. Yet even more suckish is you can't replace this with a software joystick :/ - Device gets sold without any navi software in europe! Either have to buy one from your favourite dealer or get MioMap from torrent sites, this is not acceptable with a 410 (including taxes) mobile phone! - Support: They answer fast through their support center, but they can't help you with FW bugs (such as that you can't adjust the lighting time of the torchlight, that wifi scanners dont work and the WMM Framework is missing) - SLOOOOOOOOOW bluetooth file transfer (40 Kbyte/sec!)

  • Start->Setting->Mio Setting->Power->Advance->Check box "Turn off device if not used for"->Then scroll arrow to select between 1 to 5 minutes.

  • I am using 8 GB Micro SDHC (High capacity micro SD card) for my Mio A702 no problem. So you can also use 4 GB SDHC card for yours.

  • i have the phone, but i want 2 put a 4gb micro sd...what kind of micro sd i have 2 use, does any1 knows?

  • Does anyone know if it is possible to dial on screen instead of keypad? Also I'd like to know if there is any option to avoid the phone to turn it off after few minutes. I really got upset when I go to dial and I realize it had changed to stand-by mode needing to pressing "power button" to turn it on again.

  • can you tell me how much the battery last?what about the memory?is it enough?thanks in regards

  • hi everyone, I have this phone for a month. I would to know how to upgrade the rom? my room 36.4.118 I really need it please help me..... my email [email protected]

  • Hi, I have managed to sort out my problem. Turn tomtom on and goto configure gps. choose 57000 baud rate and com 2 and see how you get on. Works fine for me never needed to reset gps again. Let me know how you get on..........

  • I have only got my phone to recognise the GPS twice, even when i reset the GPS settings. Do you open tomtom first and then switch programs to reset it? how do you do this without closing the tomtom software? I spoke to tomtom and they said they do not support the 702, but i would be pleased to know an effective way around this as i dont want to buy miomaps when i already have tomtom. cheers.

  • I have the MIO A702 for almoast 8 months. Its pretty good, and i like a lot. The GPS is its top feature i guess. It can catch up to 11 Satelites when im inside a wooden house! it can work with google maps very easily (if you have internet connection) and MIO MAPS with NO internet connection.

  • I am planning to change my mio 701 to a 702. is mio 702 as good as HTC Diamond touch flo? what about HTC Touch qwerty? thank you

  • Hi, I am using tomtom 6 navigator on my mio a702. Problem i am having is when i turn on the tomtom application it always says 'no gps device found'. I have found if i reset the gps in the mio gps settings it then recognises the internal gps receiver and then gps works fine. This reset i am having to do everytime. Has anyone else experienced this and has anyone any solutions......thanks....

  • i have been trying to syncronise with sync 4.5 but only did it once. does anyone know what i should do please!!!

  • the battery need charge every 8 hours and it freeze and need restart!!! many many problems :(

  • The mitac 702 is a nightmare, yes it is hard to hear people and they also find it hard you. With a bluetooth headset it will decide itself to turn it of. Well anyway could anyone tell me how to set the web and mms network on this phone? Canada is not one of the country's on the list(although I did buy it here)

  • Phone died today. Unable to turn phone on. Has anyone had this problem?

  • I've had this phone for 6 months now. I love the phone and it's features. The GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi work wells. However, within the last month I've had to reset the phone 3-4 time daily. It has become unreliable to the point where I have to carry another phone to swap the SIM card in case of emergencies. I have contacted MIO support by phone in the USA and in Europe. It took me forever to get the phone numbers. All I can say is that MIO support service sucks. Emails go answered. Now I have to buy another phone with similar features from another company, I no longer can rely on this phone. My recommendation would be to buy another phone from a different vendor.

  • I have this phone for a mounth but i'm pretty dissapointed!!!! People I talk to have dificulty hearing me. The sound cuts of and there is a background noise. I sent it back once and it came back with the same problem! I'm goone try to return it! The keyboard is too small .. useless! The GPS is great!

  • i ve had this phone for a few months now and i have a lot of problems. first of all is that the phone hangs and i have to reset using the button on the side. this happens when i install a keyboard application. whatever application i install. i ve sent to mio many emails but i have no answer. they simply dont care since they are selling.

  • hey does anyone know where I can get this phone in Canada? also, how does texting work with the touch screen? i have a touch screen right now and texting is a pain with the stylus, are the keys big enough when texting on the touch screen to have no need for a stlyus? thanks

  • great Mio A702 review

  • to Ryd3r ... How good is that camera ? Can you upload some videos ?

  • tytn II....no doubt....

  • hi.between mio a702 and tytn ii witch one is better?i know Tytn II has a faster cpu. and witch one benefit a faster GPS? thanks in advance. Amir

  • does it have a knob for headset

  • could smb. tell me if this phone could be used for skype calls (some pda's have this included) any opinions on i-mate pda-n or asus a639 which has skype ? are they a better option as pda/gps

  • I have this phone for over one month. It's really a good deal. I've done some research before buying it and it is the best. - you can see movies with subtitles (perfect view if you use a convertor for the movie to smaller resolution (PocketDivX) - you can install hundreds of programs designed for Windows Mobile (some of them freeware) - 4 gb card supported - pictures are ok, but in good light conditions - touchpad really cool - external speaker is quite strong and clear - GPS works perfect(I use MioMAP v3)!!! - you won't need to use the little keybord. It's all touch touch touch. - because it has windows, it is as flexible as your PC (you can install various programs that can perform different things) - it works very well as a phone (has about a second delay when answering) - unlimited SMS and contacts space If you have any more questions, I will gladly answer!

  • I've had this phone for 4months now...its has been trouble...I have swapped to the imate jasjam and it has given me better result in my business...

  • Camera ? What camera ? Mobile phones cameras are just funny extras. I use a Canon 30D for photos and a Canon Ixus for travelling. No phone camera can compare to these if you care for your special moments.

  • i heard this phone camera is bad . i mean its not made by lens just plastic ~

  • Very nice toy, bought it one month ago, no problems so far. I consider it an almost full-option phone: touch-screen, wifi, WM6, best GPS chip available, small, number keypad for quick-dialing. The only thing missing is 3G. Battery lasts 4-5 days if used only as phone and few hours when used as GPS. Comes full with house charger usb, headphones, car-charger, windshield holder, screen-protector. Way smarter than N95, no comparison there. N95 has no touch-screen, crappy GPS chip that works bad and sometimes only with slider open, stupid OS that needs signed applications, the only thing N95 has extra is 3G.

  • is anyone using this phone in u.s. ? and what about Mio Map ?

  • I saw a lot of "n95 is better than this one". Yes indeed but try to install MioMap or iGO (I consider this two software the best in eastern europe)as a navigation software on N95. Nope, it's not working, yet. On A702 with windows mobile you have unlimited choices for what software you want. I saw the phone today. I like it and now I'm 60% A702 and 40% eten m700-m800. I think I'll buy one soon :))

  • how can set a song to alarm

  • the cpu is dual core...

  • this phone cost $579 with shipping

  • Hi, I have it for ~3 weeks now. Its a very nice one, working good. The GPS (using i-GO) is very fast and accurate. Working with many applications brings it to its limits (working not so fast...) Besides the performance (small) issue, it is a very good product so far.

  • isnt the cpu not a little bit to slow for this device?

  • it support a 4 gb memory

  • i want 2 know if support a 4 gb memory card answer somebody hwo know 10x

  • Does it run Skype? Has anyone tried?

  • It IS dual-core. google/wiki TI OMAP 850...

  • how it stand on grapichs? can you watch a movie in a decent way, it moves ok?

  • Reply to Merti (from Leo) Hi Merti, Many thanks for your speedy response :) Your clarifications to my queries have been very helpful. I'm considering Mio A702 and i-Mate 8150 and ASUS P750. But it seems Mio A702 is the only 1 out of the 3 that has a torch-light function, which is important to me. The other pda-phone that has this function is Eten X800, but that one doesn't have a numerical keypad, which i find useful for single-handed operation when typing a text message. Thanks again! Regards Leo

  • To Dragos: I wrote you an answer in Romanian, but they blocked it (it's English only on this site) :( I don't know if it's dual core or not, but the GPS works perfect on this phone. It's really really fast. For example it recalculates rutes in about 2 seconds, it gets satellite signal in about 10-15 seconds. The thing is, I didn't install much additional software on the phone, so I don't know how fast it computes when it's more "crowded". So far so good.

  • Hi Leo. 1. No, it doesn't work with the phone turned off (i just checked). 2. It has snooze each 30 seconds (not adjustable it seams). 3. Buttons are quite big and easy to press, but you won't use the to write messages because it will take several stylus clicks to get in the new sms window (so you'll be with the stylus in your hand already) and it's easier to write it on the touch screen full qwerty keyboard. ( it's not as easy as on a mobile phone). 4. No, as far as I could see. But you can write a note on the screen during the call (as handwriting or even as a drawing) and on your "last calls made" list, you can see the note as an attachment to the call. It's somewhat useful. 5. Yes, any tone to any function (it has a big window in the menu for exactly that, and you can assign a tone to every imaginable type of alarm or event). 6. Yes, with a single touch on the side button ( the jog-dial button). You also can mute the sound during the call. 7. Not really, at least not user profiles. It has display profiles; the sound is adjustable more convenient: on the main windows desktop it has the sounds icon and you can select either mute/ vibration/ any level of sound - it's similar to the computer windows task-bar icon. 8. Yes. 9. I really don't know, I don't use T9. 10. Yes, it has a Black list, but I don't know if you can install a White list. You should know that you can install almost anything on windows mobile operating smartphones. There is a lot of software available. I hope I was of help. Take care

  • Seeking Merti's help: Hi Merti, Both your user comments have been most helpful & useful. I have some questions on Mio A702 and i hope you can help: 1. When the pda-phone is switched off, will the alarm sound? 2. Does the alarm have Snooze function? 3. Are the keypad buttons hard to press? (i'm a heavy sms-user) 4. Can the recording function record a phone conversation? 5. Is it possible to assign different ringtones to different tasks and alarms? 6. When the pda-phone rings with an in-coming, is there a way to mute the ringing but not to reject the call? 7. Does it have Profiles? 8. Can sms messages be moved to and from the sim-card? 9. After we have created our words in the T9 dictionary, can we edit those words? 10. The pda-phone only has Black List for Call Filter, do you know if there is any downloads to add a "White List"? Lotsa questions...sorry...but i'm seriously considering this pda-phone. Regards Leo

  • I whant to buy this phone but im not sure whit this procesor if is ok for navigation, i look in internet and this procesor is on many models of PDA-s but and i thinck is ok only if it is dualcore not single core! If anyone can tell ass if this procesor is dualcore or not will be very nice! TNK!

  • Review update: I have now a full month of usage, and: GPS is exceptional still, works very very fast and accurate. It works fine without an external gps antenna even indoors. It has that 1 sec delay after accepting an incoming call, like on the old A701, but is not so annoying. Menu and application working speed is very good, so the processor speed is enough, even after installing extra software. Wi-fi usage poses no problem. it connects on it's own to existing networks after about 30 seconds. Picture clarity is good, but the colors in auto mode are quite dark, so you have to keep it in Cloudy mode. Battery life is good, 3 days average. It held 4 days once. Battery life when used as gps device is up to 5 hours, so pretty good.

  • another review? please

  • N95 is much better friend but this phone price going down now.

  • hey guys i really liked this phone so much. but also compare to old version N95 it's same price ! soo help me which phone is more suitable !

  • And another minus is that the audio jack is 2,5 mm, so the standard 3,5mm isn't usefull.

  • I got the A702 recently and it's a fantastic phone. I was a little bit stressed because it's a new model and there are very few user reviews available. First of all, it's way better then the former A701: has wi-fi, no more screen day visibility problems (it has brightness adjustable screen and the package comes with a anti-reflexive screen plastic cover), and there is no delay in recieving calls. Package is very generous: black leather case, sylus, car charger, wind-screen mount, house charger with europe and us socket adapters, software cd (2)usb cable and hands-free. The camera is good (ISO goes up to 400) and I really like the fact that it can print the gps coordinates on each photo you take. You also can send SMS with your present coordinates. GPS works perfect, very fast and acurate. I installed IGo on it (taking only 200 MB from the 1GB internal memory). Very good satellite signal even indoor (I don't think I'll have to buy any external antenna). !!!Windows run very fast, no delay at all, so all those who wore worried about it having only 200MHz can rest at ease. Of course, I haven't yet installed many additional programs. The screen is the best part: even if it's not VGA, it looks great and it turns at any side of the phone at the touch of a button. It's also very bright (adjustable). The media player software is very good: it plays anything (any format, any resolution) on full-screen and it looks great. The touch screen is resonably sensitive and you rarely need to use the buttons. Actually, the numeric buttons are quite useless I think. The speaker is decently loud, you can set an mp3 as the ringer by using the provided software. Battery life is very very good: I think an average of 3 days. It has a smart energy save program which teaches you how to improve the battery life (kill the sounds, dim the screen bla bla bla) It also reads hand-writing pretty acurately. It has vibration and decent torch light option. There are lots of slots and buttons going around the phone (usb, gsm antenna slot, gps antenna slot, trans-flash card slot, camera button, gps button, ear plugs jack and a smart jog dial for easy scrolling). A few minuses: - when using speed dial you have to press 3 buttons in stead of just 1 (as normal) - the on-screen keyboard and generally the on-screen buttons can only be pressed with the provided stylus (too small for fingers) - wi-fi works, but connecting to the internet via wi-fi(with Internet Explorer) is difficult to configure and the user manual is of no help. I'm still working on it.

  • It`s not dual core !

  • Hey Lee. Can you please tell me if the phone has pocket Internet explorer? Did you go online from the phone via wi-fi? How is it? Thanks

  • 200MHz?...well...yes check intel...celeron 3MHz = dual core 1.8MHz the tehnology is other...so this is the case here also

  • does this phone work good? has anyone had problems with this phones?

  • someone tell me about this phone.. is dis good and better than N95? is anyone using this phone ???

  • I have this phone.. it's very good, installed Tom Tom and works perfectly. Only issue is T9 for texting on Windows Mobile 6 not easy to use with one hand. Nice size and weight and comes with car holder which is very handy!

  • Does the GPS on this phone work in the united states?

  • does anyone know about this phone camera?? is it good?

  • dude buy N95 ..less cheaper easy to carry

  • I am gonna buy it hopfully next week :D i can't wait :D

  • this phone is really good but now it's cost 5.79 dollars, so it much better to buy N95 less cheap and everything..

  • is camera good on this phone ???????? ?????????

  • The phone arrived in stores in Romania and the price dropped so far to 460 euro, which is a great price for the value

  • i can't wait to buy it :D

  • it's a dual core, no exactly 200mhz

  • Does anyone where this phone is assembled.where is this company from.

  • why this is not 3G

  • Well, the big advantage of this product is the new Sirf technology implemented: SirfDirect ..on Mio devices called: NavSteadi or something.. Check this out:

  • They should not be making more 65K displays!!! come one lets see 16M in these cool phones.

  • is not lasy !! is a 32bit processor class....

  • the original A701 had 520 MHz , this one at 200 will be lasy , for navigation software you need at least 300 MHz .

  • It's a greet device, but why a 200 MHz CPU? The Eten X800 have a greet 500 MHz CPU!

  • With HSDPA added, this device will no longer a cellphone, it's a beast! ..so unfortunate.
