Motorola ES400 - User Reviews

  • I can not find the battery of es400 then I adapt and what battery that will succeed him

  • Every day I have to talk myself out of smashing it into little tiny pieces. The reason I don't is because my employer owns it and I might get fired if I do.

  • What a piece of shit. Broken again. When it works it works poorly.

  • Our company uses these to track us. While I'm at work that is fine and all but when I'm not working they have businesses being up on my business. Purchased a faraday cage phone pouch. Start day I'm on the grid, close my last call it goes in and I'm off the grid. Sorry but I've read too many other forum posts about this phone with companies harassing people for driving fast, making pit stops too long when all the person is doing it using the bathroom, having remote activation of camera/mic literally spying on you.

  • My phone is saying phone off cant even use it

  • I don't have one of these. I have a Runbo x5 that I destroyed because I am an idiot. Try searching ebay, or youtube. The costumer service sucks at runbo but if you get one that works your golden.

  • My smart phone is having operating system! It unable to boot.

  • My phone is having operating system problem! I can't access my phone.

  • Has a stylus--that says it all. Got it from work and it's terrible. OS very Slow, fixed keyboard blows--Moto should have used the original two-way text pager keyboard instead of what the hell this is supposed to be, small screen, learning Vulcan is ten times easier than the Byzantine touchscreen icons, phone sounds like yelling down a pipe, just for starters.

  • I currently work for Kone US. I used to have the admin login but dont remember it. i thought it was 3pfl0 or something like that...does anyone have it?

  • I don't now where to begin. THIS PHONE IS BIB.. BIB... Bib.. Bib... 1 the toch screen Don't work 2 it frezes 3 it take 3/4 sekund before it reackts when you are using it 4 it loses its connections 5 it restarts constanly 6 it is biping the hole Night 7 it does NOT charge properly 8 with normal battery it holdes power for 6 hours if you don't use it. If you use it max 4 hours 9 it goes off line by it selfs 10 it scans the wrong barcode when there is more then one 11 forget

  • You are takling blasfemi

  • This phone DO NOT WORK. To go in details about the problems Whit this tone is a waste of time f... This phone the only Think it is god at is sinkning in water👍

  • Been using this phone for about 2 years... and it makes my working day's feel even more miserable. Im on my 8th one (YES 8th). Common problems - Random Lockups/resets, Calls get blocked and you have to reset the phone, scanner stops working without any reason, touchscreen stops working (have to replace when that happens), Keyboard input starts to have 2-3 seconds lag which makes it impossible to use (have to replace also). Good stuff? -> It's a tough phone. Doesn't break easily.

  • I have been using this model phone for more than 3 years. It is the biggest piece of crap I have had to use. I am on my 4th one. Constants lockups, spinning wheel. Lacks features. This is 2014. Not sure who made the choice to purchase these in bulk for the company. Probably the same person who buys the cheapest laptops available to provide to our technicians.

  • Power + c+ w, or power + 1 + 9 if you prefer. Reboots the system

  • IF it's a company phone, you are being tracked! That's why they bought it so that they could monitor you, it certainly wasn't for the quality!

  • Have been using a work issued one for about 18months. What a piece of rubbish, constant freezing, hopeless touchscreen, inaccurate keyboard, low volume, bluetooth regularly drops out, phone turns itself off for no reason, poor battery life, low quality camera, the list goes on and on. Everyone at work who has one hates it. Stay well clear unless you want an expensive, poor quality paperweight.

  • user manual and info contradictory. medical use information is easily corrupted.

  • am i being tracked with this phone and how can i tell

  • My companey have puchaced 800 of these phones and they are most crap pos i have ever used in the 20 years i have been using mobiles.

  • touchscreen does not work help how can i fix it

  • just turn gps off go to wireless manager menu phone settings and at top selectservices at bottom turn gps privacy to no and you are done

  • if I use my work forceand login and log out and turn off my phonedoes the GPS still worksthey could track me on the computer

  • Hi! I'm working in Kone Canada. My works es400 phone is admin locked for everything but work for some soft wear. How can i by pass this to get to music ,radio etc.? Please help!

  • Who knows how to open an admin login?

  • Otis thought they should keep a level playing field, we're using them now too.

  • please advise were to go to on the phone to update it to the latest version.

  • Thanks hi5 for your notice about the firmware update. I cannot tell if it's fixing anything yet, but I have begun to update our units. We have a few users running the latest firmware (OS 05.02.23145 / OEM Ver 02.41.0400) whose screen goes black almost immediately after they dial the phone. They DO NOT have the phone up to their ear (which covers the sensor and purposely blacks out the screen). I cannot replicate the issue and am hoping someone else has experienced it and has some advice. We've already tried the following; START / SETTINGS / POWER / ADVANCED / change the On battery power option to 5 minutes START / SETTINGS / SYSTEM / BACKLIGHT & KEYLIGHT / Backlight timeout 3 minutes This has not helped. I'm sure there's a fix somewhere, but I don't know what it is.

  • funny thing happened, i couldnt find the handheld so i called it. while it was still ringing i could hear my voice as i was talking to someone over the loudspeaker of the handheld. i called it from other phones and it did the same thing.

  • Are they fitted with a tracker to enable my company to spy?

  • Iam a Kone tech in Atlanta . Man o live this is POS. Thanks kone we spend more time with these phones than Doing our Job.

  • Thanks Frank S. W/ Kone

  • We have a lot of ES400 in our company and they suck.. BUT, with this new firmware they got a lot better. Read the changelog. Tons of fixes.

  • All of what has been previously mentioned is true. One other point deserves mention. Even though it doesn't function as a PDA, a wallis talkie, a phone, an instant message device, or camera, the GPS works perfectly.

  • This is the absolute worst phone ever!! Work gave it to me. Never any signal. You have to use speaker option because if you put it to your ear the disconnect bar is right there and you will get a dial tone. Very user unfriendly

  • kone tec. who ever thought of getting this phone is the best person for otis ever.

  • OMG I had this POS 3 months Worst phone ever Drop calls Sounds like a phone from the 80s Or Tiin cans with string volume what volume it's up all the way still can't here it The dally reboots The constant pull the battery to fix whatever The lock up S The crap OS SHOULD I GO ON. To sum it all up just crap !!! Look else ware

  • my work gave me this phone a coupld of months ago and I would have to say hands down this is the most tragically inept phone i have ever used I don't know if it is the hardware or the windows mobile OS that's loaded on it but i think anyone who tries to sell this phone should hang their heads in shame

  • First try hard-resetting the phone or a full OS reinstall (flash). If that yields no results, go to a phone repair shop and have them check if the ribbon cable that links the touch and the MB if intact or is loose. If you are sure that the touch is broken it is really easy and cheap to have it replaced. I have replaced mine (the phone felt and the touch was damaged) for less than 30 Euro.

  • Help, help my touchscreen doesn´t work anymore!!!

  • Help, help my touchscreen doesn´t work anymore!!!

  • Help, help my touchscreen doesn´t work anymore!!!

  • Now on my second one, in the first month! We didn't realize how good we had it with our Nextel's. The camera on the first quit, no internet connection, cannot receive callouts, and no PTT, which is so weak it's not even worth the trouble, not to mention trying to talk on the phone in a machine room on speaker phone! It's the Kone way, when we have a system and it works lets change it!

  • Very poor product. Antenna has a short range, I get dropped calls constantly because it doesn't seem like it has enough range to switch between cell towers seamlessly, the phone randomly turns off its antenna, usually at night. The phone turns off the bluetooth also randomly, so when I get in my vehicle and want to use handsfree I have to go in and turn the blutooth back on. I have a problem where the keyboard has a delay between typing and displaying what I type (that can't be fixed, I have to reimage my phone). The touchscreen is clunky and not very accurate. I never use the scanner. Businesses beware when buying this product. You will cause much frustration for your employees.

  • Worst phone ever. Beeps in the middle of the night. Beeps when phone chances towers and time updated. About 40 to 50 times a day. Plus enough to keep you up at night. Very hard to make call from stored contacts unless they are recent. I HATE THIS PHONE. I have to hard reset many times a day. worst phone ever if I haven't said that enough already. Don't make your employees suffer.

  • The main problem is touch screen. For sure in 12 months period you will face this kind of problem. the only solution is to get an extra quarantee period

  • No disrespect, but this si the biggest POS,I have ever used.Icant even wake uo the phone.Texting is horrible and you have to press hard on the tiuch screen.

  • These are terrible machines, we have 6 of them for our sales team and two within the few months the screen went on both. Strongly advise to look elsewhere, rugged and tough these are not.

  • oh god why the phone is in the dark ages buyer beware pos400

  • Well said

  • OMG I JUST GAVE THIS PHONE TO MY FIELD GUYS WHAT A POS why I have a Sweet iPhone LOL I Put them though traing. It was so funny I know. These phones Suck Haha

  • That's a great question

  • Nice cant wait for mine

  • Were are about to get these Why windows platform What smart phone uses window 7

  • Were are about to get these Why windows platform What smart phone uses window 7

  • I deleted some applications in my ES400 and my Ringtones, musics, and video stoped. What should i do to make them work again?

  • We have around 300 and I must say they are a load of crap I cant belive they get away with calling them rugged we have enginners employed swapping these out daily

  • Garbage phone. Can someone tell me how to keep the phone ringer on? For no reason I find it in the no ring mode or "phone is off, would you like to turn it on." Are you kidding me, POS!!!

  • I have to be honest and say i cannot recomend these devices at all, i purchased 20 for work and have had to have 10 repaired in a 12 month period. They have all had to have new touch screen fitted as they stopped working or were hit and miss as to which area of the screen worked.

  • Worst phone ever - our company has just signed a deal for 40 of these things. I cannot bring myself to call these devices a phone - A block of wood would be more usefull. The Capacitive screen is inaccurate even with stylus Audio low or distorted extremely poor with car kits (parrot Included) Mutes calls, misses every other voicemail Never used an OS so unintuative as Motorola's Outdated windows Mobile 6.5 no better, not upgradable and no longer supported (but mororola has an agreement for support)Yeh Right !)) Options set, defaults to factory settings for no reason Drops calls or audio lost either way Sized & weighs like a brick To sum up this phone would have been cutting edge in the 80's

  • Had one for over 9 months, Scanner next to useless, phone mysteriously rings for no reason, texting is hit and miss, wont link up to my PC and the problems go on and on.I'm afraid its the last time I splash out hard earned cash on an all singing and dancing piece of junk.

  • I can't honestly recommend it. We have 2 of them. One has developed a problem with keyboard entry being v-e-r-y slow in responding. In fact, I have resorted to using the stylus for text messaging. A second ES400 started displaying the same problem, only now it will only do a partial boot and then hangs up - it turned itself into a paperweight. Both phones have the lates FW in them. I can't believe that Motorola (Symbol) went to market with this product.

  • Bin it !!!

  • just got one and it is impossible to use

  • get MC65 instead has better scanner.

  • Hi, I'd be very interest to know if your company went ahead and purchased the ES400 devices.

  • Show your boss these reviews. Fortunately I don't use the scanner, but the phone regularly rings once then drops to voicemail (in between crashing, and randomly beeping all day - anyone else having that ?) It's got so annoying, that out of work hours, the back and the battery comes out !!

  • This phone is a great idea poorly implemented. There isn't much bad to say about the hardware but the software is in sad state. Like many manufacturers, they tried to give Windows Mobile a make up and they only managed to make it more difficult to use, sluggish and buggy. I alread had a Windows Mobile phone before this (a Samsung EPiX) and the optical mouse was one of my top priorities. Vanilla Windows Mobile makes no sense but I installed a program called "Quick Menu" that added a lot of usability to it. However, this phone is so difficult to use compared to it. They tried to "improve" the standard Windows status bar and they only managed to make it more difficult to use. Back in my EPiX, the volume control was easy to adjust, you simply clicked in the top icon and adjusted it. Here you have to click the side button and act fast or it will fade out. The same happens to the camera, it has a timer and won't allow you to leave it on indefinitely. I guess, they should consider dropping everything and providing a vanilla Windows Mobile build on it. That's what they did on the Samsung EPiX and worked great.

  • Worst phone ever...I have to work with this PoS every night when I go to work...This phone almost never works right...And unfortunatly for me my job requires that I scan a certian amount of barcodes everynight to ensure that I am actually making my rounds. Half of the time the phone will not scan correctly and when it does its only after great effort trying to posisiton the scanner so it can read the barcode. My manager has gotten onto me once before because of this phone...Despite my and others complaints he refuses to beleive that this phone is the PoS it is despite the fact that we are on our third one. This phone is EXTREAMLY frusturating to use and rarely works properly. I personally don't know much about phones...But I can't reccomend this one at all...Stay away...Stay FAR AWAY.

  • do you work for Motorola as this phone is junk a expensive door stop I'm on my 4th 2 broken screens and 2 that keep turning off then can't turn on without removing battery

  • Worst phone I have ever seen, we deployed this to our sales force, after four months we scrapped it in favor of iPhones. Horrible device, if you can't talk, why have it?

  • Do you work for Motorola by chance ?

  • I have been using this device for about three weeks now. Giving it a good test. And I have to say this is the biggest piece of junk I have had the dis-pleasure of having to use. Battery life (even with the large battery) is terrible, the device locks up, dropped calls are everywhere, the screen size is to small, the touch screen is more like a beat on screen. Of all the phones I have used from motorola (about a dozen or so) this has to be the worst one I have ever seen. I gave it a good test, the benefit of a dought. But it does not measure up. Its a true waste of money and time.

  • Can you please confirm if these issues have now been resolved?

  • I would love an alternative

  • I think like most perople who have commented here, the person who purchased them, is not the same person that is unfortunate enough to use them !!

  • The ES400 is not a rugged device. It's got an IP rating of 42 which is not rugged, no drop spec to speak of. It's meant to be a phone for business use. A rugged device should have an IP rating of 54 at least and IMHO a drop rating of 4 foot to concrete. So for all those unhappy with the ES400 what did you look at before buying it and what will you move to next? Be interested to hear what peoples main uses are of the ES400.

  • If you are UK based I can help you with a fit for purpose alternative to the ES400.

  • It fixed all your problems, or the employees stopped whinging about it ?? Even with the latest firmware it crashes, loses calls, drops bluetooth, and is the most un-ergonomic design I can think of. No-one uses a stylus anymore (which incidentally drops out of the phone as it does not clip in - and either is lost, or if it's on the string - breaks)

  • Link got cut off frommy last post -

  • Reading this blog it looks like many of you have not updated your units. I have a few in my business and had some of the issues you mention, but Motorola issued a new software download and it fixed all our problems..try it. 0 290362195

  • I use the phone and feel it is one of the best performing phones that I have used with regards to its audio performance and cellular coverage. It is WM6.5 that is an older version of MS phone software but for email, voice calls and my companys service applications that I use it works flawlessly. Great rugged smartphone that does what I need to do my job.

  • Literally impossible to use..

  • This phone is a peice of absolute junk. This software would have been junk 10 years ago with all the bugs it contains. mobile 6.5 is at the end of its life so one would expect that the bugs are worked out....wrong. I could type for days here about the issues with this phone but will simply say put this one on the bottom of your list....horrible.

  • Oh yes they are - I have to use one for work. It keeps ringing once and then going to voicemail. You miss loads of calls. The voice commander does not work properly, so you are trying to press tiny buttons whilst driving down the motorway. (The bluetooth has a habit of dropping as well). The screen is unresponsive and the stylus is not clipped in, so it comes out and is lost. Its the biggest piece of cr*p for a phone I have ever come across. (Thats with the latest firmware)

  • God I hope it's not as bad as they're saying my company is beta testing it in a fairly large market.... Hopefully someone puts a stop to it. Our company is going to order 7000 of them yikes..

  • you speak the truth

  • The latest firmware really does work, most of the problems are sorted with it. It's still a crap phone to use tho.

  • This is the worst phone I have ever used - no tried to use gut failed. It turns its self on and off at random, like most people who have posted on here it decides to cut off mid call far too many times and if you use this for business as I do this is unacceptable. I have problems viewing messages sometimes it select a one to many emails doesn't open them then you can't deselect and end up having to shut the phone down and start again. I regularly find the phone goes into emergency use only and my contacts list disappears. The list of problems goes on when using the touch screen I often don't get what I have selected not even close. I find for no reason it starts to beep at me every few seconds and won't stop then it starts to vibrate and I can't stop that either. What I can state is this is the WORST phone ever and it has a mind of its own avoid it like the plague.

  • The most painful, awful, non-intuitive phone ever made. Oh the non-naysayers say its a "mini-computer" with a phone application - give me a break. This POS is along the same lines as an Edsel or Pontiac Aztek. I cannot believe this piece of crap made it past many levels and committees in both the Microsoft and Motorola organizations. Who blue lighted this POS? I want heads. I have to work with this archaic piece of absolute garbage everyday. I want to hire the sales force that somehow hoodwinked my organization into buying this paper weight. Hell - it is not a paper weight - that would be to redeeming. Run and run far away from anything Motorola or Microsoft collaborates on. No wonder Apple and Samsung are running circles around these "soon to be" defunct organizations. I mean really - do these bozo's work and beta test these things? Really? Really?

  • Understand your frustration, however, there is a firmware release out there that resolves many issues, including the 'camera lag'.

  • screens break all the time, this is not a rugged PDA and should be avoided by any business.

  • Very frustrating device. Should be renamed the POS400. Horrible camera lag, drops calls, screen too small to use as an "enterprise device." Use this phone and you will understand why the Windows OS 6.5 is near extinction.

  • Runs an old version of Windows mobile, crashes intermittently, and drops bluetooth mid call. AVOID !! - it's not even cheap

  • Fine (if you like big phones that crash)

  • Probably the most un-ergonomic phone ever. Specs great, useabilty very poor

  • Horrible - Screen small, keyboard small, phone the size of a house brick.

  • Terrible, crashes all the time, battery life awful whilst gps is on. Probably the worst phone ever (Congrats to Motorola)

  • can anybody tell me that can we install Os other than Mobile windows? like android? has anyone tried out?

  • The Motorola ES400 is NOT a commercial Mobile device. the capacitive screen is not synonymous to ruggedness since there are also known issues for the amoled screen durability to this date, maybe 3 to 5 years would probable there be a enterprise device with amoled display.

  • This is one great little device! Have had one since January 2011. It has incredibly good display, best one I have ever seen on mobile phone, easy to read even in bright midsummer day. ES400 beats any Nokia I have used (from most basic ones to business phones). I bought ES400 same time I got my new work Nokia, they have been on same construction sites, no holster, just put them in to pocket. Nokia is already in very sad looking condition, ES400 is going strong! It's tough phone built to last. It's able to resist harsh handling and it still just works! Haven't had any software problems, no hangs or anything, whereas my Nokia needs to be weekly booted by removing battery. GPS works like charm, it's really fast to acquire position, I would say faster than Motorola MC35 I had before. I use Google maps for navigation, beats Nokia Ovi any day, both the accuracy and speed for position fix. This thing works on mountaneous areas too, can't say same for Nokia. Battery life is very good (I have 2x battery). Haven't had any dropped connections and it works well in basements and other underground places where other phones lose connections. Overall, great phone, able to withstand almost anything, solid built quality and good software and best of all, reasonable price (MC75 costs fortunes+one kidney). This thing is built for profesionals, it's not intended for kids searching for toy. Love it!

  • This has got to be THE worst phone I have ever used. GPS only works when it feels like it. Cuts off for 10 seconds or so in the middle of calls. I dropped it once, only once, and the screen inside completely disintegrated and made it completely unusable! I guess they made up the MIL-STD specification just to sell this POS to unsuspecting buyers. DO NOT BUY ONE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

  • i have been given one of these for work, this is the worst phone i've ever used. phone no 1 its in a leather case i dropped it once and the screen cracked, phone no 2 it started to crash screen blank had to remove battery to restart it in end it was crashing 4 or 5 times aday on my third phone all working but still rubbish camera very slow and os is not very easy to use. i have found a good use for it, it makes a good door stop.

  • Any people who use this portable PC for work? Does stand up to constant barcode scanning, run industry specific inspection software, inventory software, data syncs to PC, etc? There are a lot of durable portable PC scanners out there, I can't imagine someone wanting this as a phone, there are much better phones out there. This should be more of a comparison to an Intermec C50, not a blackberry.

  • I have to use this thing at work. The screen is too small as is the keypad. It blanks out frequently when using it causing me to use the 'three fingered reset'.I.E.Press one and nine and the power button all at once.Whoever dreamt that up needs sacking on the spot. This pda is a leisure use only item for people who like to fool around with these things. For business use avoid it like the plague.

  • we use these phones at work and i have to say it is the worst phone ive ever had. it locks up at least once a day. when talkin on the phone it cuts out for about 10 seconds just after the phone call is connected. camera slow. buy an iphone!!!! dont buy this crap

  • i have this as a work phone on O2 and it is useless. Windows mobile not great at the best of times, motorola IMO not great either so they do not work well together. Keyboard terrible, phone not very good at all, camera painfully slow, stylus falls out of slot so you need to tie it on with a supplied little bit of string so you don't loose it but this makes it harder to use. And it is NOT that rugged either. My guess is they have to aim it at the business market because those who buy it don't have to use it! My advice go HTC

  • I dont do all that technical stuff , but I have been afflicted with this phone for field work. I find it to be abysmal for most purposes we use - for starters the keyboard keys dont suit man-sized fingers. The on-screen keyboard is a huge pain to use with that stupid pointer that gets lost at the drop of a hat.The screens jump up and down and all around a the drop of a hat . You cant seem to disable that annoyning predict-text thing . The right side screen thing for making things bigger or smaller is annoying and cant seem to be disabled. the camera is so slow. The screen turns off too rapidly and you cant adjust the time out any further. The list goes on. But the absolute worst for me is there doesnt appear to be anywhere that I can find simple answers to simple questons like - " how do I disable the predict-text"...Why is it not possible to find free help on these things - or even any help? Unless you are a techno geek this phone is more likley to drive you insane than make your life easier. I hate it and expect that mine will end up at the bottom of a river or under the wheels of a truck before it gets much older

  • Very satisfied. Charge it once every 3 days ( i have the extended battery). Knocked it several times on the floor without even a scratch. The only bad about it is the plastic bottom cover, thanks God i bought the 3 year service pack which covers all kind of damages and Motorola replaced it for free.

  • Overpriced and unreliable, we have 6 of these as work phones and 3 have already been replaced with another on the waiting list. Screens seperate and become unusable, software runs slow and freezes. very disappointed. Should have gone with htc.

  • verry gud phone with windows mobile

  • Sloooow camera, bulky size. I love the keyboard though! The keys are spaced out well, fully remappable and have a nice soft texture feel. A lot more comfortable to use than the Blackberry. Love the OS, it's just like having your desktop right on your phone, you can customize it to do almost anything (much like Android!), great playground for a tinkerer. Works great with my 32GB microsd (PNY class 10) and love the various input methods available (touchscreen/stylus/optical nav/keyboard). Solid 3.5G connection on AT&T, wifi works great, last for days on a charge (have extended battery). Fingerprint reader works well too.

  • works with ordinary gps softaware? (Garmin TOMTOM?

  • So better use MC55 instead :D

  • if you drop the phone, it falls apart . I let you with this in mind..

  • It's indeed not one of their finest products. Before you can use it in the netherlands you have to update it with the latest firmware otherwise 3G is not functioning. The camera is slow. After clicking the "take picture" button it takes about 3 seconds to make a picture. The combination bluetooth and carkit is one of the worse things i have ever seen. I got an android (samsung) and a few colleages have the ES400. And only those colleages with the ES400 have bad quality of bluetooth connections. Word spoken by colleages get cut of. Internet explorer hangs a lot and it is almost impossible to close the program through the taskmanager. So i advice think twice before buying this device. Probably new firmware could solve the problems. But you'll need a paid subscription to get them.

  • Wow, the ES400 is such a piece of crap phone I can't believe Motorola can dump these things on people as if it's modern day technology. It's just as crappy as the palm/IPAQ pieces of junk that have been around. Remember when the Motorola Q came out? Where is that crapper, it was touted as a game changer. There is a reason these products get there life from corporate users, they never survive on the open market. Some idiot who doesn't know what's actually available signs a massive contract handcuffing these piece of crap windows phone to companies for years. It's embarrassing carrying these things around in 2011. A stylus really? The soft plastic screen scratched within 2 hours. The stylus reacts like polar opposite magnets, good luck struggling with that while trying to be productive. Hey it's got windows! In the same resolution as the VGA aver monitor I had back in the 90's. Holy crap 655mb of Storage!! A 3.2mp camera!!! A dedicated barcode scan button!!! You shouldn't have, REALLY YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE

  • I hate this phone. It is my work phone and i have to constantly make sure the ringer is still on ( as it turns off on its own) and i have to reset the phone at least once or twice a day because the camera button, or the keyboard quit working entirely. I had an htc touch pro before, and it was way better than the es400s. And it was a piece of junk

  • the best phone i have ever had.perfect

  • "A tough guy from MOTOROLA"

  • great phone!!! and what if this phone come with 1GHz dual core processor?

  • How do U do to low down the phone (into your ear) sound., even if I put it down at OFf it is aleways very loud. Cheers !

  • dual sim card gsm-cdma??

  • Is it available in India.... Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

  • Might be better than blackberry phones. Read somewhere the price is around 19k.

  • I agree with two thumbs up!!!

  • I'm sure this will be one of Motorola's finest and could be the MOST RELIABLE phone ever there is in the market. Yuo have touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard, OS, Wi-fi, biometric finger scanner and all weather proof phone. I cannot wait to get my hands touch it! GSMArena, please advice everyone of this being out in the market!

  • very nice phone

  • An all-weather and all-purpose PDA phone. And Motorola made it first and only.

  • If we want to play music what is the quality of it. As i like music, i have E71 which is not working properly as it is unbreakability...

  • Oh shocking about this price but don't believe it.

  • According to the youtube demo video, the price is approximated @ Euro 1500. The video can be found @:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZUtPOy6OYw

  • yeah me 2, like to try it... interesting spec, hope the price is not too high...

  • Very Good Specs. I want to try.

  • does this fone suport Flash in browsing some websites like youtube?

  • I like the extented battery, i dont use my iphone because of battery. when it will be available in saudi arabia with only enlish key board?

  • nice job

  • Wen it will be out here in Saudi???

  • excellent rugged phone! i like it very much! i hope to get one soon! :)

  • The specification of cells and tablets should be additional parameters, setting out audible tones, call quality, water resistance and resistance to chemical agents enclosures and mechanical. Especially audible tones and speech in a noisy environment 86 - 100 dB.

  • Only Crystal Talk I need from Motorola. Does Motorola ES400 have Crystal Talk? Where is it sales?

  • EXCELLENT FEATURES ABOUT THIS PDA PHONE: OS: Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.53 Pro CPU: Qualcomm MSM 7627 600 MHz processor Browser: WAP 2.0 / xHTML, HTML Camera: 3.15 Megapixel, LED flash with secondary lens. - Built-in GPS with A-GPS support - Water proof (IP42 certified) - Fog, humidity, transport shock & thermal shock resistant (MIL-STD 810G compliant) - Drop-to-concrete resistance (0.91m) - Biometric fingerprint scanner - Bar code scanner - Auto-rotate accelerometer display sensor - WLAN: Wi-Fi 802.11

  • Now Motorola made an innovative way do defeat its rival: durability with functionality. A PDA with a muscle.

  • With extended battery, this was the phone I have been waiting for....!!....from long time.

  • lol tough managers i almost expect a bunch of guys in suits in a ware house fight clubbing

  • Does it have two ruims card gsm and cdma ?

  • a business fone that is waterproof and shock proof.i had been searching for such a fone since a long time.m definitely gonna buy it. tough fone for today's tough managers.

  • great phone - perfect and powerfull even beter than bold 9700 see it yourself

  • very nice phone i like it

  • too big, too ugly :)

  • Now this is the a cool staff from Motorola, a phone with Windows Mobile with a muscle. It is perhaps the first PDA device with water, dust and shock proof design and capabilities. The touchscreen screen too is big but the only comment you will pertain is its big size.

  • This phone has pure muscle specs

  • OMG!its the frankenstein of cell phones!!!

  • There was a phone with same specifications of iMate but they broke before started selling it , great tought phone !

  • At last, a phone with 3G with push email service with a videocall feature from Motorola. Thought they would never think about it. The next issue, can the battery last for more than a day for heavy email and video conferencing users. We'll see....

  • a new droid is comig by moto. and you will never see a phone the same way again

  • This would make a good android phone. To make it pocketable, I would go for a smaller touchsreen display (2,6") like the one in the Acer beTouch 130. Albeit with an upgraded 320 x 480 pixels and 16 M colors. An optical trackpad like the one found in RIM's BlackBerries or Nokia E72/E73 can't hurt either. C'mon Moto, make it!! You could sell Tens of Millions of these in Europe and Asia...

  • please moto i love this phone please come soon to iran we love you moto we need you moto

  • I simply LURVE this phone !!. Motorola seems to be trying hard at regaining lost ground and mindspace. Good spec sheet I must say. Let us see what more lies in store in the days to come.

  • are the features of this phone works in the Philippines???

  • Muscle phone!!! Rambo needs it in the forest n desert! And Rambo needs it when he decide to retire from army and run his own security business.

  • wow.. It will be my next handset. I dont care about radio, i have radio/audio system in my car.

  • this phone is hot

  • sure this is beter phone with beter os and hardware

  • front side is too cool, but back side is not that attractive as front :(

  • please made new series of q with Freescale processor

  • Now THIS is a phone!! check this link out:

  • that very nice model and also top ed with all futures its cooooooooooooooooool..... my next mobile is this one and only my favorite moto.. hello moto...advanced moto...

  • Extended battery, Li-Ion 3080 mAh WOW!!!

  • i like this

  • strong

  • good job moto this is realy nice phone we are waiting for you next surprise with this like design and w7 this very nice Business phone

  • so it will not sell at common store?? so sad T_____T why this wonderful design gadget only made for some specific range.. its not fair moto..

  • At last, no tacky silver paint that wears off on the main buttons. It actually looks great at the front and sides. But the back has a silver strip, which I hope is not metal (I want good reception) but I hope it's not plastic either (I don't want crappy silver plastic). If battery life and reception/loudspeaker/earpiece and battery life are good, then this will be a nice phone.

  • woaw cool phone

  • need to have a better design

  • powefull Business phone very well cheers moto

  • love the idea, love the keyboard, love the screen, but the OS just ruins this otherwise brilliant phone.

  • second camera is nice - i love you moto thx

  • few thing to add in this phone 1 .. dual Sim card 2... Radio 3 .. plz launch it in India also

  • Now we're seeing some major competition. 500h standby and 12 Hours talking time, Motorola is on the right track again... MIL-STD and Waterproof are also attractive as well... well done.

  • This is a business targeted Smart-Phone, as a businessman, I wouldn't agree on the Radio thing. Even though size is bigger than other products within the same specs, but it's a tough design for those working in the field. Been using Q9h for almost 2 years, and I like it very much, and I believe ES400 will be my next phone.

  • hot device.

  • Yes, I too agree. Plus, the ruggedness and tough build that Motorola handsets are known for.

  • This is a business device part of moto's EMB range and you won't find it for sale in your local phone shop. if your serious about buying one of these you'll need to find moto emb partner online like barcodewarehouse who will sell it. This device will have a list price of £514.80

  • i like this phone a litle like moto q series and blackberry phone

  • build quality must hav 2 improve(side keys and buttons), and over all design is not a impressive. But not a bad phone....Try better motorola

  • you did great moto!

  • Nice phone, too bulky though...

  • a gr8 phone with gr8 specs but camera shld hv been more improved but its a gr8 and durable phone it shld be gr8 if upgraded to latest window os i always liked their full qwerty keypad phones like Q9h better thn e63.

  • TFT resistive touchscreen, 65K colors Size 640 x 480 pixels, 3.0 inches - Full QWERTY keyboard - Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate - Motorola Enterprise UI nice move

  • well really nice looking phone. Maybe camera shoulld be a little better and radio would be fine

  • well done moto

  • put radio

  • wow.. cool specs.. i like it

  • awsome

  • Well THIS looks like a serious piece of equipment! Thumbs up! What happened to the radio though?

  • excellent specifications...this time motorola has filled all the loop holes of other smartphones and has evolved this sheer classic smartphone....excellent and just dynamic....

  • can this phone update to windows 7 ? i like this design like rim phone

  • very good perfect

  • very good phone good

  • It's been along time that Moto rolls out a smartphone like this. WMobile is being forgotten but what this OS has given to all users is too much. This phone is great with this specs, 256MB Ram that's enough for running apps, 1GB of Rom is big and it reminds me the old Xda Atom Life with the first 1GB Rom pda. A lot of connection support and ES400 is a strong pda I think. One of the thing I really want this phone is the qwerty keyboard under the screen, not slide, not slide up, no worry of problem with display cable. The screen is big enough with VGA resolution, althought the design is not so attractive but if you want a smartphone with a strong body and manly, ES400 is a good choice I think.

  • just fit my needs!!!!! good for motorola

  • Already feels pretty high tech, i hope it will be available in pakistan soon...

  • please include radio.

  • very nice specs...useful for the people use phones as rough n rugged enough ...go motorola!

  • What a ugly phone
