Once used to be mine. Unfortunately, mine was stolen after 2 weeks of use. From the 2 weeks, I can see that the build quality wasn't that good. The chrome lining started to wear off after the first week. I don't know why, I felt dissapointed with that. The camera quality was owkey though. This phone is very good, the battery life is super I only have to charge it's battery once per week, the camera quality is not that good but hey, what can you expect - its VGA! The memory is also quite small but as a basic phone, it's very reliable and it definately looks very stylish.

I recently dropped my girlfriend's (soon to be wifey) Nokia 6101 from a height of 3 feet and after that the display didn't work anymore. I've used it on several occassions and I find the phone's performance to be on the sluggish side. For example, sometimes when sending a text message it would take several seconds before the messsage gets delivered. On my Nokia 1201 it would take less than 1.5 seconds to send. Now I have to get my girlfriend's phone fixed because her phone is a bit on the flimsy side. Baby , this post is for you. LOVE YA!

this phone lasted i think for 2years with me. it fell off my hands few times and it survived.... its very efficient too, u got a camera and fm radio always avail in hand, just wished it has bluetooth to transfer pics easily. btw, i think i'll be replacing it bec the last time it fell it blacked out and didn't turn on again. well so much for its durability. i'm still hoping it can be fixed though. i would say it served me very well. so long my phone... do i recommend this phone? YES!

I had one of these before it got stolen and it`s one of the best phones I`ve ever had, in spite of it having a crappy camera and no bluetooth. The keypad was the best one I`ve ever used and it was so robust. Transfer downloads from mobile9.com from pc to phone via infra-red. It was such a great little phone.

well if people are still thinking about having this phone...change your mind..i used to have this but i just got an even worse one.. but anywayyyy... -after like a few weeks the outside was scratched. -paint came off -the mini screen broke -memory is crap -infared doesnt work -did i mention scratched? -screen had all like crap on it -no bluetooth although.. -small cute phone -buttons are gorgeous -camera was a pretty good VGA camera -nice design if you just want it to call and text then its perfect but if you want to take pictures and send them via bluetooth (obviously cant!) then its not worth it. well i hope this helped some people xx

I have had this phone for 3 years now. Porbably the first phone I have ever had with zero problems. The only problems I have had are (all do to normal wear and tear) FM radio stopped working last month (super expensive cable wore out), and the screen is permanent scratches/indents from the keys).. BUT battery is still lasting great (VS my other phones I had), and I have dropped this thing countless times and never a problem.. Its gotten to the point I abuse it on purpose so I have a reason to upgrade! nope.. damn thing wont break!

I had one of these phones for a while but decided to sell it, it had a puny vga camera, and no bluetooth, also only 4mb of memory, I mean come on... otherwise it was great,batery very good,fast wap.couldnt get mms to work tho, or push-to-talk, very user friendly and quite good looking, tho my new phone is much lighter, has a 1.3mp cam with flash, and blutooth & 128MB RAM...oh its an LG choc. Ive had my 6101 for a year and a half now and it is a great phone its is true you can drop it and it wont break. It has quite a few scratches though but what the heck it still works 100%.

i had this phone(nikia 6101) and loved it till it just fell apart(literally) in my hands and at&t wouldnt honor their insurance agreement to replace the phone cuz they said it was discontinued...i am disappointed as i did like the way the phone worked, great sound, the way it was setup etc. guess tho they will remove this cuz what i have said but idc i have the right to my opinion and this is all fact and can be proven...makes me not ever want another nokia phone arghhh...wonder y they discontinued it so fast, maybe cuz it just fell apart and believe me i was very gentle with it...

I have had this phone for 3 years and I LOVE IT!! I know everyone's raggin on it for it's memory but to me it just means i have to delete my text inbox every two weeks or so which really isn't that big of a deal anyway. I've dropped this phone countless times and it is seriously a tank! The battery lasts forever, I hardley ever charge it. The camera is ok and the video quality is what I would expect from a phone. All in all this is the best phone I've ever owned even if it doesn't have all the bells and wistles that other phones have. I have a digital camera, a video camera, and a mp3 player - I needed a phone, and that's what I got. I would recommend this phone to everyone.

This phone has no real problems with advertised features. However, in this day the features are lacking compared with the current market. The camera and memory is a let down. Paint on my phone is rather scratched but that is due to my mishandlement not the phone's design. However, a problem with the phone's design is that the keys do scratch the screen. The battery charge holds up forever, and the text is good, but the camera is horrible and it has practicaly NO storage space. The paint came off quickly and overall the phone is not that great.

I got this phone 2 years ago and it is still fine. The paint comes off easily if you don't handle it with care and I don't like the fact that it has less storage space, doesn't have bluetooth and you can't zoom in or out when taking pictures. I dont recommend people to buy this phone unless they don't care about the features. I regret getting it and im so bored of it now that I am going to get a new one.

i got this phone for christmas last year. it started as a great phone the camera was good the screen was clear. but then after about a month the top of the phone scratched really bad. just recently the mini screen broke which was bad. the memory is crap and the photos have turned bad. the recordings are really dodgy and there is no blurtooth and the infarated doesnt work. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE you will regret it and it went down to $99 from $150 but now its back up to $150 its so not worth it.

Ahhh, I had this phone for a couple of years. It was good to me. I loved this phone. Unfortunately I dropped it too much. It's really simple to use, cute design, and the camera is excellent. You can take pix and email it to your computer. The picture quality is really amazing for a camera phone. Good price too.

I purchased this phone in New Zealand Mid November 2006 and it's been a pretty good phone for me, it's treated me well through the slight neglect I have given it and it's works quite well. I don't like the fact there is hardly any memory in it and it can't be expanded which is a shame as I usually take a lot of pictures, but then why should I take a lot of pictures when the camera quality is below average! It doesn't even have flash. The design is pretty classic and it looks pretty great. I like the hot keys which is a bonus for me to access my inbox. Just recently I broke the flip thing on my phone which makes it so difficult to write a text with out the top of my phone collapsing on my thumb. The battery power is alright and I've been able to withstand very lengthy conversations. If you do want to buy this phone I would recommend it as it isn't that complicated and very simple. But this isn't a phone for the very patient person as it does lag quite a lot. Right now I am planning to upgrade my phone and I'm thinking about purchasing the v3x from Motorola, it's a reliable phone and I don't regret this purchase! I'll give it a 6/10 There are better phones out there for equal or lesser value that gives you more value for money than the 6101.

my phone has been acting really weird at first when i got it but ever since a month or two ago my phone will just automatically go to camera on radom then i cant exit out of it i have to restart the phone 2 or 3 times for the buttons to work and half the time they don't so i end up not being able to use the phone. this phone is a peoce of crap do not buy it. it has a lot of problems and they take terrible pictures with the camera.

I love my Nokia 6101, but 12 hours battery life after 6 months? This is ridiculous, come on Nokia, I've always had nokias and you can do so much better than this! I don't make calls, I don't use the camera, I don't play games, I only send text messages, and I do understand that sending about 150 to 200 text messages a day can wear out a battery, but 12 hours battery life??? There has to be something wrong with it! Other than that, phone is great, wouldn't change it!

Can I please throw my Nokia 6101 out of the window. I have it on vibrate which is fine, but it will from time to time stop the ring voloum so of course I so not hear any calls. Also the camera is silent when I take a photograph again this keeps happening, I have followed the instructions from Nokia but the problems are still there....helllllllllllppppppp thanks

I bought this phone from a shop in Italy. A frien of mine bought it from romania. I was surprissed to find out that thhe one boughed from Romania had broken in a matter of weeks. I now own 2 phone a Nokia 6101 whit a schrached screen from the keybord but with a good battery and a Samsung E250 who dissapoints me with every day that passses. So Nokia 6101 is a good phone becaouse the battery can hold until 6 days, and the fm radio is really good. For the people that complain didn't look at the phones chart before u bought it??....

I have a little more space to take pictures though the camera is like UGH!!! It's cute and small, not good for busy people as it has really LOW memory trust me! Not good for people who likes music, no Mp3 player for music unless u can make do with a radio. Only good for people that will only use it for simple stuff like calling and msging

I got about 11 months use out of mine until the hinges went to crap and I would turn it upsidedown and it would just fall open. Within weeks of owning it,the buttons scratched the heck out of the faceplate. The phone got poor reception where other phones through the same provider got good reception.I wasnt thrilled about its very low memory...no bluetooth either. This phone might be all right for a senior citizen who is not going to put much wear and tear on it.Not recommended for kids or hard core gamers.Camera was crap also.

i've had this phone since october 2006, and in general, i'm not disappointed with it. sure, the memory is really low, but i wasn't aware that it wouldn't be sufficient (hard to know until you use it). now i know what to look for in my next phone - it will be a nokia again, though. the 6101 is easy as pie to use (love the nokia operating menu/system), the screen is very clear, call quality is really good, fm radio feature is cool (need headphones b/c they serve as antenna) and i haven't had any problems with it even though i've dropped a bunch of times. i'm not disappointed that it doesn't have bluetooth or mp3 capabilities because it says on any web page or even the box what it has. if you want a great phone with a lot of features, this nokia isn't for you (but they do have a lot of other models that will most likely work - i'd stick with nokia, they are great). but if you'd like a simple phone that WORKS WELL and you only want the camera to take a picture now and again, this is the phone for you.

not a good phone! - had build problems requring warranty repair with at least half of the 20 units we use - turns off by itself, stops ringing (have to remove the sim card to fix), has very poor reception (from exactly the same place where other gsm phones have good reception!), tells the network is unavailable when it is...pity, as the design and other features have potential.

I've had two Nokias of this model and both of them has been fine as it comes to being functional - but the screen gets scraped! For the first one I had I thought it was me being careless but same thing on my second one. Scrapes comes from the numeric keyboard. And I friend of mine bought the 6103 - same thing. Screen gets scraped after a short while.

I highly advise you not to buy this phone. Okay so I've had this phone for a year and 3 months. At first it was tolerable, but then I got these scratches on the internal screen that came out of nowhere, probably from my thumbnail when I opened the flip. So now the screen beholds a ton of scratches. The small part of the antenna has chipped off. So now the antenna is just ugly. The black part below the internal screen is peeling off. At first I thought that part was plastic, but then I later had to find out the hard way(the peeling) that it is a sticker or paint or something. The outer part has quite a few scratches and chipped off pieces, and I've only dropped this phone at most 4 times. The back part near the antenna is cracking. The silver part on one side of the hinge is cracking. The hinges are 100% loose. I don't even have to use my thumb to open it. I can just like hold it upside down and it'll open. I have to press the buttons harder now, probably from texting so much. This phone has super limited memory. I regret buying this phone. You should only buy this phone if: -You will never ever ever ever drop it because that is when things start to come apart. -You are a boring person, and you do not like to customize your phone with downloaded ringtones. -You are cheap and old-fashioned. -Or if you like phones that break easily.

The Good: has a radio big clear buttons camera quality is ok The Bad: after a while the buttons scratch on the screen aerial gets very annoying only takes about 20 photos, more if you delete everything on the phone videos can only go for around 1 minute hardly any memory, only about 3 megabytes in total which is not much very slow to load

I currently own this phone. I got it in June of 2006. I personally think it's an okay phone. It has excellent picture quality. The things that I dislike about this phone is that it doesn't have Bluetooth, it only has Infrared, it hardly has enough memory, it only has 3MB of memory that's shared. When you are near the phone when it rings and you answer it, it makes an odd noise as your ringtone is going off. The things I like are the camera, the ability for the phone to play mp3 files (but the sound quality isn't great), and picture messaging.

I have been very disappointed with this phone. After 2 months the volume control broke while stuck on high. I took it back but it could not be fixed. Now there is something wrong with the hinges so when I flip it open, I get strange pixels that turn bright white so I cannot read what is onscreen. Of course there is the much mentioned memory problem and no bluetooth. In summary, very poor quality phone made to last about 6 months.

I had my N6101 since Dec. 2005, i enjoy so much using it even though limited memory, it serves for all my purposes, i can surf the net any time i wanted to,took pictures,videos and send to my email address and finally transfer to flash drive.However, when I buy the CA42 cable and synchronize it with the PC using windows98 is not supported,(even though after installing its cable and a modem driver) there is a need to update pc operating system to windows XP to install the PC suit.

I've had this cell for 13 months and I am so done with it. I'm switching it to Nokia N91. I like the design of it, it's easy to use, but the memory is lousy! It only holds up something like 250 messages (pathetic!). It is a great cell for your granny b/c she gets about 250 messages in a decade. She will die before she has to delete them. So it is a great basic cell if you don't need any special features. Bye bye my dear 6101!

Heya Ppl, I had this phone for 13 months and overall I say it did its job pretty well. Good battery, fantastic keypad, good call quality, highly reliable! Its a basic phone for ppl mainly to sms alot and maybe take a few pictures here and there. This seemed to be nokia's aim for this phone so i don't see why people should be complaining. If you want something highly fancy go get an N73 or something. The memory and no bluetooth, it caters to customers who don't need that. While I used it I loved it but hav now gone and bought a W850i since I needed something more upmarket with more features. One Downside maybe that I found was the front black part of the phone caught lots of fingerprints and scratched easily. Otherwise its an AWESOME basic but HIGHLY RELIABLE phone! :)

I've had the phone for one month now and I'm very pleased with it. Battery life is good (mine golds in for about 5 days with moderate use of calls, texting adn radio), it's solid (dropped it on the ground and had no problem), reception and signal are very good, actually, I think the best I've had and this woulds be my 5th phone. With Samsung and Sony Ericsson often had signal problems or the phone would just switch off during a conversation.I think it's actuallt the fact that it has an external antenna that makes the signal better than with in-built antennas. Sure, memory is not great but I believe this phone was made for people looking for ballance between looks and functionality. It really hepls if you buy the USB cable. So, you can transfer useful data from the computer (such as MP3s), delete the things you really don't use and transfer the pictures so you can make better use of the memory space. I would recommend the phone because it's well-ballanced and it's good deal for it's price. Besides, it looks really chic and the keyboard feels incredibly comfortable.

The radio is great, the internet is great in WAP but not in HTML, the key pad is great with t9 (I posted this from my nokia 6101), the infrared works well with many devices, one of the best VGA camera you can find (it beats some megapixel images). I love that you can listen to the radio while your on the internet and you can close the fold and it does not return to the idle mode. I hate that the camera and screen resolution is lower than most phones and it only displays 65+ thousand colors. I hate that it doesn't have bluetooth or a memory card slot, but most of all I hate the crapy video recorder. Most people say that a phone has a crapy video recorder because they saw a phone with a better recorder. But viewers, this is the truth! the video recorder is crapy. 1. It looks black and white (I am not exaggerating, its very very dull). 2. motion is not smooth, it is very jerky. 3. Alot of square boxes. 4. The audio and motion are not together, you will hear first then see it happen. The resolution is subQcif 128*96 pixels. The nokia 6230 has the same video resolution and it is way better than all nokia 6101s' recorder. I will be replacing this with the nokia 6131 then later replace that with the nokia n95. I recommend it if you just want to talk to people, take a couple of photos and listen to the radio. If you want more, dont look at this phone. You have been warned. Happy New Year!

I have had my Nokia 6101 since July, and I have been disapointed with it. Like what other people have mentioned, the screen scratches to easy and there isnt much memory (which is annoying when taking heaps of photos). Taking photos and SMSing is the only stuff it does well, even though when it takes pictures, it takes ages to take it. I do not recomend it, even though I havent had it for that long, I want a new phone already. Happy New Year everyone.

i got this fone about 4 months ago ... had to get it after people kept prank callling me on my nokia ngage..so i went and bought it its okay but no blue tooth is really a down grade and basically no memory? 30mb waste in a couple of hours after loading some mp3 songs on AND THE infared takes for ever to get songs of! oh and a word of advice buy your self an cover protecter you will need it the screen scartches easily! thats why im ditching this mobile and for chrismas 2006 ill buy my self a d600 DO NOT I REPAT DO NOT BUY THIS FONE!!!!!

i actually own this phone, its a POS! dont buy it, theres a reason why alot of carriers will offer this phone to you for free. its crap. i noticed this site this phone features PTT and it doesnt. the only thing decent is the camera, which takes along time to actually take the picture. and the problem with that is there isnt enough memory to actually hold alot of pictures :( it is a basic phone. easy to navigate and the radio is rather nice. but overall... this phones a dump ion the toilet. its slow and horrible. i wish i didnt get this phone, even though it was free.

Nokia 6101 is a great phone but it would be much better with Bluetooth and memory card slot. I advice you not to buy this phone, the memory is too low. Okay, I agree with you all here that the memory on this phone is WAY too low. Usually when I try and send something and need more memory it prompts me to delete stuff. Well tonight, it didnt and for some reason its not doing anything but freezing up. HELP! I took the battery out and put it back in and its still not working. I dont want to lose all my numbers! I love the feel of this phone in my hand and it's very easy to use the keypad etc, but i have to say the LACK OF MEMORY SUCKS!!! I couldn't believe how little memory this phone has. Memory is everything, if you have bigger memory then u can have an mp3 player, a MPX camera etc. but I suppose it's my fault for not researching phones enough b4 I bought one! This was a great phone during the first 3 hours I had it. The design is slick, really nice. Size is good, small enough to be discreet, but enoughly big not to loose every 15 minutes. The camera is OK, not great quality, but 640x480 can help for the moments you curse yourself for not bringing the Cybershot. The external display can be used for taking pics of yourself. On the downside, the memory is really low. Mine came with only 1.1MB free, after the operator stuffed it with their garbage. The menus are very slow. It has no Bluetooth (but has IR). Now, about mine: the loudspeaker stopped working 3 hours after I took it of the box. Now it is on the tech assistance and I have no chance of having it back before next week. Maybe even next month (worst case scenario).

The display lights up for only 10 seconds, the reception is as if i live in the jungle, the different screens take SOOOOOOOOOO LONG to load, and i could say a million other horrible things. I had the handset for about 6 months before it really started to play up. First, the time and date froze (leaving the functions that rely on them inoperative), calls were not answered when the fold was opened (despite being set that way), mini display simply stopped working, radio worked on good days only (and that wasn't often) and the main display didn't illuminate when the fold was opened. It was taken to the Nokia Care Centre (who really don't) in Brisbane Aust twice, who kept it for 6 weeks and returned it in the same condition - I have no idea what they did but it certainly wasn't fixed. It then went to the Optus service centre who returned it within a week and most things then worked ok except the radio. Optus have now agreed to provide me with a replacement phone. I don't know if I just got a lemon but wasn't really willing to go with the same model again. I've opted to try the 6131 .... fingers crossed.

I've been using this since 24th december 2005 and i gotta say, i have loved every single moment of using that, except that damn tiny 4.4 mb memory (I always run out of it) and god-damn long page load- and parse-times with the built-in XHTML-browser via GPRS-connection* (test-page was 53kb, w3c-standard campatible XHTML-document and it took over 3 minutes to load, even when i ordered the new web-settings from my service provider and then after that from nokia via their site). The size if very compact (compared to that old 3510i i had before this, it's not much smaller, but a slight lighter). One thing i gotta whine about is that those screens get scratched too easily, yes i could have kept the screen cover-plastics on, but both of them had a big air-bubble in middle of the screen, like that the phone was useless 'cause I could not see the screens... The FM-radio is a nice feature, saved me from the boredom quite a few times. ( *= I do reliaze that you may not have same operator as i have, and I reliaze that load-speeds are relative to the radio-signal and service-operator )

its a xelent mobile i love it it has realy good ringtones the best 1 is Robotique its so cool, good camera no so good in dark places thou, great voice recorder and radio and wallpapers and graphics. it also has a infared port dont use it much but its mad 2, my fav feature are the buttons there big for big fingered peolpe like me!!!! pretty crappy games but who cares its also got an organiser with a stop watch, countdown timer, calender, to-do list, calculator and a few more it also fits fine in your palm good job nokia its a brill phone 4 eny1 and 4 200$ its so worth it 10/10

I think that this handset is brilliant. One of my favourite things is the built in radio and the infrared, i have never used infrared before. Oh, and the picture quality is great. I don't think much of the video though, i expected much better quality like on my friends samsung phone.

I've had this phone 2 weeks and I love it! It feels and looks gorgeous, and I love that the keypad is so easy to use, the buttons are large and feel great. I don't understand why people are complaining about the memory. Pictures take 10-25kb and you have about 1.5Mb of memory, and 100 pics at HIGH quality sounds pretty good. I love the camera on this phone, much better quality than what I expected. You can choose quality settings of Basic, Normal or High, and there's a self timer. I bought a USB data cable for 50 bucks from Dick Smith Electronics because I was taking so many photos. It's great, because from my computer I can transfer images and tones etc including tones I downloaded online, and I can delete things off the phone I'll never use, like Clip Art. My phone also came with headphones to listen to FM radio, which is surprisingly good quality. It only came with 3 games, Solitaire, Canal Control & Golf Tour. I usually hate games but Canal Control is sooo addictive and fun! I bought a packet of 20 PDA screen protectors from Dick Smith for 20 bucks just in case. You can just cut them to size. As for the battery, I have found I need to recharge every 2 days or so, but then I do take HEAPS of pictures, play games alot, and listen to the radio using the headphones on the bus most days so that's understandable.

I like this phone very much but I have to admit that the good first impression is not a lasting one. It is quite disappointing that the only problem with the phone is the biggest one. The memory. I think the manufacturers made a huge mistake in deciding to limit the phone's memory like they did. It would have been fine if they had at least provided a memory card slot. bluetooth would have also been appreciated.

Hi guys, had one of these phones and with the memory you have to delete the cache on the phone from when you hook up to the net. I deleted almost everything out of the phone and it still said it was full, then by accident I deleted the cache and all the memory (woohoo, all 2.00k of it!!) came back. I have since traded this phone in on something a bit more substantial :) Good luck :)

Nokia designers must have been sleepy when they designed this phone. Memory is very very poor 4.4MB shared, speaker quality is poor, when playin mp3 ring tone it comes out scratchy and high pitched. Only thing can say for it is that if it falls on the ground it will not break. I dont recommend this phone

I don't like how it takes awhile to load (i know, it's like half a second or something). I JUST got this phone so imagin how bad the lagging will get after a few months. the camera is pretty bad too. my last phone was a samsung and this phone was not my first choice (even the dealer told me this phone wasnt that great) but it just happened and i ended up with this.. =( some of the functions are kind of confusing too.. like the phonebook. it's a hassle to add/delete because the names and the numbers seem to be totally independent of each other.. i dont plan on keepin this phone for the 2 whole years that i am with the company.. not that it can even last that long (my guess). i wouldn't really recommend this phone to anyone... but it's OK if you just want a phone that works...

Thhis Phine is great it has low memory but i can live with it.I had it since it firs came out.I read many problems but mine doesnt have any problems.I bought mine in the philippines.Im guessing evyone else bought it in the u.s. area with t mobile.i recomend using cingular for it.Overall its a great phone.=)

Nokia6101 is the wost phone I have ever used in my life.Its so slow, small memory and currently its freezing, starts up, automatically reduces the volume, peform voice dialing.I hate this phone. Anybody knows what the problem is or should I just throw it away ?

This phone is alright, my bros gf has one, she hasnt had much problem with it, the memory is a bit small, but i just edited some songs to make them smaller and BINGO!!! I mean who really has the time to listen to the full version of the song!!! One problem that i have seen is that the screen is getting like a mark where the centre and directional keys are... On the whole it is a pretty beaut little phone, only $249 on Optus Prepaid in Aus at Dick Smith or $366 for outright at Dick Smith as well Hope this helps your purchase of this great phone!

Overall, this phone is ok. The speaker phone feature is especially great. What I hate most is the phone's software; it's kind of slow. The main menu takes 1 sec to load. It's just too slow for me; maybe I just have quick fingers :)

I really am not so happy with my Nokia 6101. I got it the day it came out in September, and since then I've had three of them. The screen either freezes or blanks out/turns white on occasion, to the point where I have to take out the battery to make it right. It has very little memory, BUT I must say that the camera gives HIGH quality pictures, I took pictures at the Hoover Dam with my phone and then printed them at Walgreens, and they look like postcards, and I am not exaggerating. Overall though, I would not buy it again, and I can not wait until I can get a new phone!

Great little phone. Only PROBLEM is the keypad scratching the screen up. I suggest getting screen protectors otherwise it will be ruined in days. A friend has had problems with the speaker.

I bought a Nokia 6101 about a month ago and I love the phone. The only two problems is that the loud speaker is that great and it is sooooooo bad on memory! You can only take about 10 pictures and it gives you a message that the phone is low on memory. The two displays are great!!!! I would recommend this phone but if you plan on taking a lot of pictures I dont suggest it!!!!

I would not reccomend this phone to anyone who text messages regularly...you cannot write a new text message without manually erasing the last one you wrote...AFTER you do that, the title stays the same until you exit out of the "message" menu and then return to it. There is no setting to change this. Also...it takes a few seconds for each screen to load AND...unlike other phones where i could see 7-8 entries in my missed/recieved/dialed calls list and inbox/outbox, you could only see 2 or three. I could not get used to this phone for the life of me...Samsung all the way!!!

I have had my 6101 for 5 days. I have never owned a Nokia phone before and was excited when they finally came out with a flip phone. It worked fine, the camera is much better than the Motorola V-300 I traded it in for. Then it dropped from my hand, once. From about three feet, to the ground. Not an exceptionally hard fall, it just fell. The ringer no longer works. It is amazing to me that a phone could be designed under the pretense that it will never suffer a three foot fall, one would think that the designers would give some thought to the possibility of a phone being dropped by it's owner. In any case, other that the fact that I do not know when someone is calling unless the phone is in my hand or very close to me it works great.

I just bought this phone for a great bargain deal with t-mobile. I originally had a Motorola V300 which was so frustrating due to flaws, i ended up destroying the phone. For the duration of 5 months, these are my observations. Pros: A nice solid durable phone. Perfect reception no factory flaws comes with a quality battery Cons: If you are looking for a "bling bling" phone with all the fixins, this phone is not for you. I personally adore this phone because it is perfect at being a phone. It has video capabilities, and camera, but it is at best average. Where this phone exceeds is bringing you crisp phone calls, and portability. The best i've ever experienced compared to the 2 motorolas i owned. (v300, and the RAZR)

I work all day with phones, and what you are saying about this phones memory is very true, but there is a simple rememdy. Once a week you should clear the "cache" on the phone and you will be good to go. My friend also has this phone so I know it works.

i would like to know if both holes output sound or only the one furthest away from the antena. i have a feeling that i might have got a drop of cola in the one closer to the antena and could be blocking the little speaker screen it has in there. so id like to find this out which hole outputs sound before i take it apart and clean it. thanks.

i bought this phone unlocked, its native t-mobile. im using it on rogers in ontario, and its a pretty sick phone. the only drawback is it memory. but that really shouldnt be a selling point of a phone. (well maybe now a days it is). i like how u can make ur own mp3 tones and send em over to the phone using the IR. reception is decent. i had a samsung p207 before and only bought this cause i needed speakerphone. but the p207 reception in an underground concrete garage in a condo building was usually 5/6 or a full 6/6 bars and this phone is only 2/4 but there is no cut outs or crackles when ur in a conversation. so all in all i like this phone cause it fits my lifestyle a bit more than the p207.

this phone has really really good design but a little bit thick....the memory is very very low if it had a card slot it would be much more better and of course the lack of bluetooth is bothering too and i hope nokia add unlimited video recording (in 3gpp or mp4) and unlimited voice recording (in amr) to its future phones in 61 series but this design is briliant i put a 10 for design , 5 for features and another 5 for performance.

Hi, I have recently just had the "Motorola V3 Razr Blue" Mobile which I have had Faulty 3 times and 3 replacements, Its not a good phone as it collects Dust very easily through the TFT screen but a lovely phone, Just been to Carphone Warehouse and purchased this lovely "Nokia 6101" its a nice stylish phone from Nokia and I am on a Pay As You Go "o2" network, anyone I know the memory is low but when you think about it, If you want a phone with lots of memory and a great Camera and other features then you dont need a Mobile you need a "Laptop"... As far as Nokia flip phones go, this one seemed simple, elegant, light, and easy to use. The reception was good in urban areas, and the earpiece volume was also good. Pictures were fine as novelty items but not especially worthwhile for prints etc... So what went wrong? Hard to say, but I do know this: one day the screen went kaput for no aparent reason. It was treated well, so who knows maybe it was a lemon or had a bug. Would I recommend this phone to others. Probably, since when it worked, it was very nice.

It has a really small Memory. I was able to free memory by deleting pre installed ringtones and graphics, so now I have arround 2.4 Mb free. You don't need to pay to listen radio, you can't listen mp3 on the go, but you do can use an MP3 for ringtone. It has a great battery life (my first reason to buy it), kinda excellent signal (at least better than with previous models), it has a buildt in camera (that i don't use because a digital camera can take better shots and has an extra memory slot, that this phone hasn't) It is a good cellphone if you want long battery life, good signal and very little customization. (like me)

I bought the Nokia 6101 in september last year and I thought it was a great phone at first, sleek design, radio, MP3 player, camera and the list goes on. That was till it started playing up on me and now I have had it repaired on 3 separate occasions and no longer use it. I have been using Nokia's for about 8 yrs now and I feel they are starting to lose the quality that I think they once had. To be more honest I think the Nokia 5110 & 3210 were the best models that were ever created. They were basic, if you dropped them they would not break and there was none of this fancy modern technological stuff that is put into all phones today. This will not put me off from buying another Nokia one day but this phone was not well thought out and now I have bought the new Motorola Pink Razr V3 which is has all my needs met that I would need in a mobile phone.

Hi, I got this phone about a month ago because my little brother drowned my other phone in lemonade :(! But i wanted a new phone anyway, but my mum couldnt afford one i wanted (im only 13) I wasnt to sure on this phone but i decided to get it anyway. ALthough it is a good phone it gets cratched to easily from the keypad, like all the scratches on the inside screen look like the keypad which suks! ALso i dislike the ariel, it should have an y internal one!! I really eanted the 6111 but couldnt get it as my mum didntt want to pay that much and then 2 weeks later at the exact same shop i could have got it CHEAPER then the 6101. I was really annoyed but i have to deal with it. I wouldnt reallly recoment it though!

hi rich, you can edit your pics on any photoshop software on PC and resize your picture to 128x160 then use file transferring FROM YOUR pc TO YOUR 6101 USING pc suite through infrared or CA53 USB. thanks

Its a good phone, the memory its so poor but if you not use the cell like a walkman the memory reaches and exceeds. The pictures taken with the camera are best even the shown ones in this page. Is very recommended if you want a cheap phone whit camera and good quality

I've had the phone for about 2 months and I do love it.. the only thing that sucks about it is that whenever i lost service (like going into the basement or in a place with bad reception) i'd have to shut the phone off and turn it back on again which isnt a good convience because i missed many calls. besides that i liked how you could basically get your own ringtones for free as long as you had internet since it plays mp3's. i paid $129 for it even though it's free now i think it was worth it. the camera on it is very clear also!! it looks bad from the second display window but when you open it up, the pictures are very good! holds a LOT of space (a lot more than my last nokia)

Hi, I purchased this phone a couple of days ago it seems to work well. it has many great features that can keep you company. The downside for this phone is that it has very low memory, so there is basically no point of Nokia adding all those features because the memory always seems to be full, your always limited to the amount of pictures, videos, ring tones, and games you can have. But I can�t find the Nokia 6101 on the pick list to resize the images to a screen size of 128X 160 for the main screen. All I can get is 128 X 128. Hi, I've been having this phone fr a few months now and really like it but it does have some draw backs. Firstly the battery life is only about 3-4days and that too by not using the phone often! Secondly everytime I swich it on I get an error "checkconnection setting" well I've taken the phone to be checked several times and dont seem to fing anything wrong with it. If anyone else has the same prob as me would appreciate if there was a solution. Lastly I cant seem to download mp3 rigntones from the phone. I've tried from the site saved on my bookmarks but keep getting an error as "file format unknown" Can anyone tell me a way of getting mp3 rigntones onto my phone or a site to download through gprs? This phone is a disaster, after 1 month the screen would freeze, a million and one error messages would appear and after it being "repaired" three times its still doing the same thing!! Ive had to try very hard not to destroy this thing against a wall and be done with it. Ive since heard bad things about nokia flips, they should stick to what they do best cos this model is for the tip! All my other phones (samsung and motorola flips) have lasted 2 years plus!

i bought my 6101 yesterday and find it good, somebody said that it hungs up, but according to my analysis, the fone memeory is just around 4MB w/c is obviously cannnot operate well when you take so much images, videos, messages etc. it means that your mememory cache is enable to respond your system so that it hungs up when you used o lat of it so i recommended to buy a CA-42 CABLE to transfer your files into your pc so that you can erase and free up some space on your fone. thanks, by the way im a batangenyo. -ala'y dine laang.

This is awesome. I really like the physical look of this phone. But not a typical fast menu like other nokia's. Memory too small. Hard to hear ear phone volume is too low4 in loud places. Microphone is not very clear, sometimes i have to repeat myself twice to people i talk to on the other line. I've had better nokia phones. I recommend the 3220 over this phone. But i like flip phones better. No good nokia flip phones out there. I've had the 7270, had to return it with same problem. It froze once when I was using alarm clock function. The alarm kept going off and nothing else would work. That problem stopped after a while. hope it doesnt happen again. Cant get the sync cable I ordered c 42 to work with nokias pc downloaded program. Service from 800 lines totally unacceptable. Cant find anyone who can help with the problem. I think it's a cellphone suitable for ladies. It's size is small and you can hold it comfortably. The buttons are large enough so it shouldn't be any problem. It's easy to use. I like it (",)

I believe that phones are not to play and not to take photos, It�s just to talk and nothing else. If you want take photos with great quality and great memory to save them, u should get a digital cammera and if you want to play get a video game!!!!. This phone is amazing and quite small. It's a very well concidered move by Nokia. There are ppl who'll never use features like that so they dont want to give money for that. Thay only talk on their phones and what they care is the design. And if it's for little money then even better. I, personally would never buy phone like that bic I'm used to smartphones. But there are a lot of ppl who would buy ot and nokia knows that, so I think it will eventually be a bestseller for the lower class mobiles.

I got myself this phone as a sort of "reward" for doing great in my last business with a client. It's been almost three weeks now, and the following things I've noticed: a) the phone's keypad does not respond quite easily to soft touch. It requires you to pin down the buttons to key in the letters while texting. b) Battery life is not that good. It works for a measly three to four days tops. c) User available memory is small (2.2Mb only. The other 2.2 is being used as the phone's internal memory for contacts and other phone apps) d) Yes, the screen gets easily scratched (though I have not gotten my screen scratched coz I left the protective sticker on. My friend, who has the same phone, removed his, and, voila! The screen is now full of scratches. Now, overall, the phone is impressive in its looks, but I just wished that this phone could've been stylish and functinal at the same time. Hoping that Nokia could come up with an upgrade that eases out the problems aforementioned, and add more memory to the phone.

Does anyone know how to adjust the time it takes for the main screen to go dim when the phhone is idle? It seems to go dim after 10 seconds or less, and I wish I could make it stay lit longer, such as when I'm reading a web page. TIA Bob

To mask the scratches on the screen, use a screen protector. You'll see they're gone. Just make sure to buy an ultra clear screen protector. The non-reflective one has a 3D effect which ruins the view. A screen protector would also prevent more scratches.

I got this phone a few months ago with an O2 contract and I think it's pretty poor. About a week after I got it it started systematically crashing, usually when I closed the flip to end a call. I would then spend ages with the phone off in my pocket not having noticed. Not much memory for photos either and even then they are not great quality compared to what's out there...

I believe this phone is worth its price. I bought it for P12,500 ($235) early December. The looks is definitely outstanding. It's very stylish but the features are just satisfactory. Just a warning to those who like to buy this phone. It has very low memory (I often get the message "Not enough..") and the inside screen gets scratched by the keypad no matter how lightly you fold it back. It's a design flaw from Nokia. Now the screen of my phone is ugly just after 2 weeks of usage. Buy a screen protector as a solution.

hey i got 2 6101's on the 26th of dec 05, look pretty nice and worked ok untill tonight when i accidentaly droped it about 2 feet down, it bounced on the antenia and landed softly, i picked it up only to notice no dammage and everything fine, 2 hours later my inside and outside screens are cutting in and out and going all scrambled, if anyone else has problems with there phones like this i would appreceat some feedback asap thanks

It's a very cool phone, I bought that a few weeks ago. I'm satisfied with the camera, It makes excellent pictures. The video is max. 105 sec. long. Easy to use and I can download ringtones and wallpapers without any problem. Does this phone support mp3 ringtones? or only MIDIs?

So...i had this phone for about a week...it sucked. i HATED it! it froze up all the time. i only had 2 things downloaded onto it. It was really hard to hear when someone was talkin & the speakerphone was too quiet too. There was NO zoom on the camera & the video was only 15 sec. long. i hated it. If you have probbies about the whole "shutting off on its own" or in "frozen" state, it means that you used up too much of the memory. You can have it fixed in a service center, but this problem shoulc be avoided at all cost. This could destroy your mobile phone. Yeah, in some ways, it is kind of related in the N6600 with its problems, as the saleslady informed me.

hi candy! bluetooth is a technology that is integrated in ur handphone which enables u to transfer or recieved data or images in a short range of distance. it also allows u to recieve incoming and outgoing calls or even hear music through your bluetooth headset if you have. nokia 6101 doesnt have bluetooth in it.. sorry.

just to answer you stef, the small screen will show you the picture of your contat after you add the picture to the contact. you can do that by entering to the contact in your contact list and choose "add image". That's it. And BLUETOOTH is a "hands free" without the cable. You can answer the phone from a bedroom while you are in the kitchen without any cables.

Okay, I just got the Nokia6101 today and its a pretty cool phone. The guy that showed me the phone said that the mini screen can show peoples pictures you take when they call... But it doesn't say how you do it in the manual.. So if anyone knows please tell me how to. Also while talking on the phone, it's really quiet. It lacks memory. no...its a perfect phone..the only complaint is if you snap your phone shut (like push it, it goes down, and you heare like a snap or a click) then the cheap plastic casing gets kind of scratched up. also, the cheap casing is just glued on, so it kind of has a space in between the inside of the phone and the outside..

I've had my Nokia for abount a month, and I think it'a a great phone. But I do have a problem with mine. My memory used in the gallery says I have used 365.7 kB but when I go through my gallery and add up all the memory in there, it adds up to 246.6 kB. Even if I do delete things that I don'w want anymore, or know that I am not going to use, it doesn't seem like it does anyrhing to free up some memory. My sister has the same phone and she has no problem with hers. Does anyone else have this problem, or know what to do about it?

I bought my Nokia 6101 Decemeber 9th 2005, and not until I read the previous reviews did I realise the "talk" and "end" buttons are the same color. However the buttons are still distinguishable. The "end" button has the "o" circuit symbol on it (the symbol that indicates how to turn on the phone). Once you 'know' how to operate your phone, the color of buttons shouldn't be a problem. And about the paint easily stratching off thing, I haven't experience that yet and I even have my phone sometimes in my jeans pants pocket. The most I can say about the phone is that its a 'dust magnet'. Because the phone is black, the slighest dust and you can easily see it. Same with finger prints. But all in all, I'm in love with this phone although it lacks a memory card and bluetooth. :)

I just got my 6101 and the side arrow button does not work for lowering volume(down arrow). This is minor. But I need to contact the company to exchange if this other odd inconvenience is actually broken. When you open your phone and all the buttons light up, the green and red "talk" and "end" bottons turn blue so you can't distinguish them from the other buttons. In all the site pictures they show these as red and green. Is this normal for them to turn blue? Please respond asap.

got the phone today and i just simply love it! Have the white version and its sooo cool! This phone is really2 awesome im tellin you. For ppl complaining about bluetooth, it doesnt really matter for me coz it has infrared and its really fast. Whats the use for bluetooth anyway if you only have a memory of 4MB(1.1 to be exact). Exploring through menus arent that fast but overall this phone is totally rockin! Great in design, a pretty good feature (just like what a cell phone SHOULD DO! not as MP3 player or digital camera). For everybody who still considering but this phone or other, you really should pick this one! Worth the money (isnt so expensive, got mine for $210CAD unlocked) and it has a nice features. No problem at all so far. The most important to me is battery life and this phone lasts for a really long time. Nokia 6101 is one of the best phone (with its affordable price) out there. Later..

hi i'm thinking of buying either the nokia 6101 or the 6230.... i dont know which one, i know the 6230 has mp3 player and bigger memory (i don't know if they include the memory card when you buy the phone) but the nokia 6101 is a clamshell model so it's more comfortable for talking and nice looking too besides i think the mp3 player might not be so amazing, i know the 6101 has mp3 ringtones so can i send via infrared a song to use it as a ringtone??? I love everything about this phone except for a few things. You cant set a different ringtone for each user like I could on my lg and heres the most annoying thing about this phone. YOU CANNOT HEAR ON IT. I can rarely hear anyone on my phone, then out of nowhere it will get really loud. I have a few days left before i can turn it back in and its going back.

Used this for 4 months. Hearing problems ... never had any. As far as MP3 capability ... as you can notice there is NO mp3 player so this fone wasnt designed for mp3. The radio is good enuff .. you want music ... get an IPOD ... i opted for it, no cell fone can come close to the IPOD ... or true mp3 players in this case. Keypad is excellent ... esp. for big fingers like mine. I hate typing on cells like K700i and such and believe me ive never had a more comfy keypad than this cell fone's!!! Excellent when you want something different. Although yea ... somewhere around 20-30MB of memory would have been better. Btw it has around 4mb memory. My free memory and gallery used memory make up around 3mb themselves ... I didnt count up the others. But it SURELY aint 2.8MB!

This is an excellent phone. First thing I have to say is that it is NOT too quiet. Many people on many sights have said it is too quiet but I really think they are just not holding the phone properly. I previously had a Nokia 3120 and it had the same problems - you have to make sure your ear doesn't cover the little holes for the speaker. Also, there is an automatic volume adjustment feature that when turned on, compensates even more for loud surroundings. I have had crystal clear conversations with this phone in crowded clubs without any problems. The functionality of the phone is Nokia quality. Everything makes intuitive sense, the buttons are great, and the screen is nice and detailed. One of the neatest features that I recently started using is the Outlook sync over Infared. By downloading the free Nokia suite software, syncying your phone with your calendar is as easy as clicking a mouse. It is really cool! Only cons are that the preloaded ringers suck (who doesn't include a standard ring-ring tone) and the camera is nothing to brag about. I would recommend this phone to everyone, it really is great!

I believe this is the best flip phone ever made by Nokia. This is the real deal. No megapixels. No need for memory slot expansions. Just for calls and texts. It also has a radio, great for music lovers. Very stylish and elegant. I'm really having a hard time choosing between N6101 and N6060. Both phones cater people who prefer using their phones as phones. Great job, Nokia.

Hi could somebody please advise if they have experirenced problems receiving over 160 characters in a text on their 6101 as I have been having problems. It will only display the first 160 characters (which is the max for 1 text) and does not show additional pages or send seperate texts with the rest of the message. I think the Nokia 6101 is a sleek, compact, nice looking phone. It has tons of pakced features, and if you get it on NZ's Vodafone live! plan wih preapy your all set. Maybe its space isnt huge, and the mp3 not the best, but downloading mp3 to mobile is a new feature, and will suck on all phones. The built in FM Radio is bound to be better. It has a good camera, oragniser and all sort of little goodies. It is a good price here in NZ, and I see it well worth the buy. The size (4.4mb) is from the manufactor them selves.

Hi...just like to say that my previous phone was the Nokia 3595 and it kicked ass on this crappy 6101. The 6101 earpiece volume is horrible. I have the volume turned all the way up and it has to be dead quiet for me to hear the other person. Another thing..the reception is by far the worst. In a cell phone I want function, good reception, and good volume. The 6101 takes a better picture than it does the job of a phone. Thankfully I got the phone free. ;o)

This phone is nowhere even NEAR 4.4mb! i have no idea where this website got that informtion from, but that is just a plain "unfact". If you delete every phonebook contact, every picture, every game, everything you can on the phone the most you will have is 2.8 megs! which is alot less that 4.4 megs! And you'll only have 2.8 if you dont want to take any pictures, or have a phonebook or take video and all you do is listen to music! Nokia has a downloadable app. to convert your 4mb mp3's to 600KB .amb format music files to put on your phone, but even then you can put a few converted songs on your phone with really bad sound quality... or just get a new phone. Sry to Digress, but the fact is there is in no way possible for you to have anything above 2.8mb's

Oh my! I'm 13 yet I already fell in love with this phone when I saw it in the newspaper! LOL. I asked my father for this one instead of my Nokia 6600- which kind of goes crazy with my handling, hehe. It's really a crossover from solid to flip phones. I find flip phones very chic, sophisticated, and so... Asian. Nokia have done it again! (in a good way, that is) The 6101 is a cute little phone, the antenna looks fine on this design (without one it would look silly), the price is maybe a little steep at the moment for the amount of features but i assume it will drop for xmas. The memory is appropriate for the features. It is obviously a phone for those who dont need or want all the bells n whistles ie. bluetooth, mp3 player, megapixel etc. Nice phone.

i just got this phone a little over a week ago, and i love it. it is simple to used and does what i need it to. the sound quality is awesome, listening to the radio at full blast on the speaker sounds very good. one thing i cant figure out is how to customize the menu screen... i dont think you can tho. i also would like bluetooth, and better memory, but oh well. i still think that this phone is great; reception is awesome, and battery life is excellent. 8.5 out of 10

I just received my 6101 today. So far its been great. I'm a VERY devoted Motorola fan and didn't really like Nokia much. This phone IS nice though. The screen isn't as nice as moto, otherwise the quality overall isn't too bad. I like the features. I've got my MP3 ringtone on it already, it sounds great. I must say, its one of the loudest phones I've come accross. I had to cancel my internet plan for my ipaq phone because I'm losing my job in ten days. I was going to buy a moto, but this phone was free, so what the heck, I just took it. Until moto makes my dream razr pda flip phone with wifi, this phone is definitely worth sticking with. I think Nokia fans will most definitely enjoy this one.

This phone is crap. Don't buy it. In the last 5 weeks, I owned this phone, 3 weeks it was with the service center. The date/time resets itself and the camera dead in 10 days. Still the issue exist with the date problem. Can other users confirm whether you are having the problem with date and time?

I was just about to but the new Razor but the sales lady told me NOT to but the Razor, because a few people had bought the Razor from her and came back shortly after saying they had BROKE their new phone! So, I bought the 6101, seeing I just had the Nokia 610, and LOVED the FM radio. Once I found out this phone also had a radio, and it was a flip.. I was sold. So I got the 6101 home, and my best-friend and I has a blast taking pictures and small video clips with it! The only downside? I can't take pictures at night, at all. But the other people who complain about the poor sound? Yeah right! The sound on this phone is great, a truly great sound from talking and the radio too. I can not believe all the haters who say to buy the Moto Razor, I've had so many SALES PEOPLE tell me not to buy the Razor I can not believe sales people would tell me not to buy the Razor, and they risk losing a sale too, b/c the 6101 is cheaper! Good phone. Not great. I think Nokia should come up with a model called 6202. Same design as the 6101 but: A display with a higher amount of colours. They should try 2 push that 2 1 million or higher. A two or more megapixal camera WITH ZOOM. Way more memory!! Wow... This is the worst phone around! Not even worth spending a penny on it. This dealer told me it was the best but, I found that it's camera has no zoom, paint chips off, slow os, and copied other phones to make it. I switched to Motorola Razr V3, trust me, it's better to spend your money on something else then this retarted phone!

I just got the 6101 in replacement of my old cranky phone. So far it's been great, nothing wrong. and i'm obsessed with it esp the design. only one bad thing is that the cam has no zoom. but i think the quality is rather decent. of course if you want fantastic quality i suggest you go use a proper camera. oh and it needs more space. i wouldn't need it to hold the amount a mp3 player can, that's what mp3 players are for. this is a PHONE.

This phone is not much good,,Ok it looks good but it is a poorly made phone.After a while the flip part gets very loose.Some of the keys become loose and others get stuck. It has a terrible memory that you have to share with everything else on the phone.1 tiny mp3 and the memory is full.It will not work inside a shopping center.It has 4 default crappy jap ringtones and that is all. The camera is poor (no ZOOm)quality of photo is poor.Nite time don't bother trying. The case scratches so easily almost like the paint still aint dry.After a while the plastic starts to delaminate around the ariel and the chromr fades back to black plastic really fast and then it don't look all that nice anymore. spend an extra few bucks and buy a Motorola 535 or a Motorola razr V3.I am not usually a Motorola fan but these 2 modells are brilliant and leave the 6101 for dead.They both have heaps of memory and do everything better except suck,,,the Nokia 6101 does that better.

NEVER EVER buy this phone. 6101 looks fancy but nothing is what it seems. The sound level of the phone speaker is very very low. You never understand anything in a crowded place or cafe. And also the sound level of the earphone is too low while listening the radio. This is a real design mistake. I will not trust nokia anymore. If you read the other reviews, you can see the other people complain about this. So what is a phone for? talking.. But you can't talk with this phone. Trust me and don't spend your money on this crappy machine.

This phone's design is great. I love it. I received this phone a few days ago and only have two problems with it: 1. There is a delay after pressing the menu key 2. When you clase the flip, all applications do not stop Add Bluetooth and a bigger memory and you will have the perfect cell.

I bought a 6101 recently, had to buy the black one , bcos white was not available. it looks good, but the build quality is not upto mark, . The navigation keys sound hollow. also the sound on the phone is not great..need to strain to listen in heavy traffic,or have use the ear phones. The Loudspeaker is good for handsfree operation..so are the large keys ..(i bought this phone for the keys..my thumb feels much better now , even after all the sms I send..my previous phone was t-100 from SE,which had small keys). Camera and main display are better compared to previous nokias(forget about the quality of the mini display on the front panel..its for displaying the caller id)..but not as good as sony ericsson..The reception is also great ..thanks to the external antenna..The phone stands out in the crowd ..due to its unique design.."good looking clamshell from Nokia..that too with an antenna"...its a hit in my office.. The phone design typical SE Asian..may be made with these markets in mind..reminds me of the phones in Japan..the camera position on the front panel is typical Japanese..they shoot self potraits and mail it .. Buy it if you want a clamshell nokia..with great reception (thanks to the antenna)..the other features are all commomplace..for me its my first Nokia..I am not complaining either......Ramu Nair

Let headset plugged in and You can turn on speaker phone to hear. Also you can still recieve calls it will shut off radio and you answer phone. Ive just got one of these in the last couple of days and am trying to sync it to my calender in Outlook 2003 (Running Win XP). I have used both the DKU-5 cable as well as IR and in both instances, the phone will not upload anything from my PC. I have tried this on several PC's and no luck in any instances. Frankly, this is actually 7270 in new cheaper body. I find external antenna annoy me a lot especially when I have to squeeze it into a jeans pocket. When I sit, I can feel the antenna constantly poking me. Nice girly look. Overall, a budget phone with big features.

i bought this phone 2 weeks ago... after usage i can say that this is a great deal... a top notch nokia clamshell... although, there are some stuff to have in mind when you buy this: 1.- 3 megs... take about 20-30 pics and the phone will start complaining about memory (no SD) 2.- that black surface at the phone is very finger-print friendly 3.- phone menus a bit slow... nothing to worry about anyhow 4.-if you want to make the phone 'shine' prepare some software to upload wallpapers of your own.... those bundled themes and walls just plain suck 5.- the ring tones played with the highest volume possible arent enough noisy outdoor (6100 was noisy as hell) i upgrade to 6101 from 6100... and this phone is great

Oh i've got a question here! when i receive file from friends via infared ie recordings, the file format is usually .EXT so i cant use it as my alarm or send a mms with it. how do change the file format? is it possible? or a way to receive the normal format. Am i the only one having this problem?

When ur busy with something in the menu, of typing sms, etc. then closing and opening the phone doesn't change anything It will stay where you left it. To silence an incoming call, press one of the volume buttons on the left side.

Hi everyone, i just got my 6101 last sunday, i like the design sooooo much!!!!! but i found 3 problems in my phone, i don't know if those things are normal. 1st: every thing are slow in 6101,from the idle mode go to the main menu, it will delay about a second or more. 2nd: this is the major problem, is about the night mode of this phone, when you taking picture at the dark area (of course not totaly dark) you should activate night mode, is clear and bright before you take the pic during night mode, but after you captured it, there is no night mode effect, just like the pic taken from the normal mode!!! is that normal, or there is something problem about my phone. 3rd: if you open and close the phone several time, the open and close mechanic of the phone will become soft and not hard as when the time you purchase the phone. anyone encountered the same problem as me? is there something wrong with my phone, or is just normal sickness of 6101, anyone pls reply thankx alot!!!! im very worried =(

I have just purchased this phone - my first Nokia and am very pleased. However can anyone tell me... When you close the flip cover and open it again, it is in the last place you used it (i.e messages etc). How can I set it to go back to the main screen? The other question is once I've sent a text message and go back to the main screen, when I go back to messages the previous message I sent is still there - does this no cancel when you back to the main menu? I got this for a birthday present. Kind of silly thing to do I thought ... no MMC slot no mp3 player and no memory either. COME ON for the phone's battery to last longer the first 3 or 5 charges should be like: completely drain out battery, then charge for 6-8 hours. This warm-up procedure will help your phone battery to last longer. Mine lasts for 5-6 days. This phone is superb!

Hi! my battery only lasts three days, and if i play golf or take videos, only about one day! i'm going to do nothinhg with it now except for making txt messages and calling, i wonder how long the battery will last... also, when i just had this phone, the outer screen went bananas sometimes and the inner screen went blank several times. then i let the battery drop till it was empty, recharged it, and now it works like a dream! (knock on wood)

i've bought this phone 3 days ago, and I must say this is a good phone if you need capture few pictures, listen to radio, and enjoy long-lasting battery life. I had nokia 6230 before, it was a really superb phone, but having all the things [i mean mp3, radio, video etc.] in one phone just may cause some software errors. Buy this if you are looking for stylish flip-phone, cause it is really worth it. My rating : 8/10

Hi Johnny 1989, Cant really hear the person I talk to on the other line, really. I'm always out and I get calls all the time so the ear volume is really important to me. This phone is not GPRS or WAP capable. And for those who cant change from list menu to grid menu, just go to menu, go to settings, go to display settings, then look for menu view. Press select and you would be able to choose from list to grid menu. Have fun! :)

A pity I was told that Nokia has no intention to sell anymore white sets for 6101 at the moment in Singapore and we just have to be contented with the black ones. Though a few white sets have been seen around the shops (those without phone plans) but they are really rare. If you are lucky, you may be able to get one. I just ordered myself a black one at quite a good price, though I really love the white one actually. Well, a compromise of colour for price. I can't complain much...

What's with the antenna? All nokia phone have no antenna except for this one. And as if they haven't learned, the soon to be released 6060, which is also a clampshell type phone, also have an antenna. And worse, if you don't want to answer a incoming call, you still have to open the phone and quickly press the red button in order to reject the call otherwise the phone will connect automatically. For Samsung phone, you just press the volume button found on the side of the phone if you want to reject a call which is more convenient. This phone is not selling well here in the Philippine. it's big compared to other clamp type phone namely samsung. Nokia still has a long way to go when it comes to clampshell phone. Better go back to the drwaing board.

well l got my new nokia 6101 on sat and l reckon its good but theres a few features im disappointed with.the video recorder is bad as well as the mini screen on front but besides from that then its perfect.

To be honest even if it's only slightly better than the 6610i I will purchase it. The design did attract me to it & the new screen & better camera quality (even though not much better but improvement over 6610i)is enought to sway me as I only really use mine for calls, texting & th eodd picture taking. One final question, with the 6610i the images taken had a kind of "fish eye" lens so any straight lines on the picture would curve inwards, doe sthis happen on the 6101?

Is it better than the Nokia 6610i (which is my current phone) & I'm not about just looks, in general The cheapest I have seen is in Argos on o2 for �129.99 pay as you go but that is in white only, dearest over here: Carphone Warehouse, sim free �199.99. However I'm sure Carphone Warehouse can do better deals that that :^D So would you guys recommended it for someone who has an ageing 6610i (I have had the 6610i since July 2004 so it has served me well)

Katie: If you're at the shop to buy the Nokia 6101. Ask to see them both, before buying. I did and compared the black and white version at the counter. My decision was eventually the black one. I'm sure if you put them next to each other, you can easily make a decision. Goodluck!

I like the phone but there are certain sound problems, sound cracks often.Sound hearing volume is also low so it would say the simple nokia models like 3510i are excellent compared to all this new shit. To whoever asked: yes you can take a photo and place it as your wallpaper. The battery is excellent.

Just want to clear up some things for the people who are having queries about the phone. I've had my Nokia 6101 for a week exactly now. Do i still feel impressed by the phone - no. Why? Purely because i'm just bored with the phone. I do get bored quite easily and i do like change so maybe its just me. However the phone has an awful lot going for it. It's great when the phone rings in public and people hear the traditional Nokia ringtone. When i whip the phone out people look and ownder what phone it is i have because its so unlike a Nokia. Clearly its impressive to the onlooker. As someone else pointed out, i have yet to have software problems with the phone - no crashing no failures in any way. Very good! Battery life is brilliant. Holds for days i haven't charged for 3 days - with use of radio and video recording and i have only dropped one bar. Someone asked about the external screen - it shows the signal level, battery meter and time as well as the network name. And yes, you can assign any picture you have taken as a wallpaper for the intenal AND external display. Although most pictures dont look great set on the outside. (4096 colours anyone?) Sturdy build etc looks great, semi-good features, but poor memory as EVERYONE has mentioned. I'm getting annoyed with people writng on this forum 'Nokia 6101, crap memory not getting it'. Well thats great news but we didn't really need to hear it. If your going to write something at least let it be constructive ok. So to finish - this will probably be my last post - the Nokia 6101 is a goodlooking clamshell phone with rubbish memory, and bad pre-installed wallpapers. I have resulted in taking my own pictures for wallpapers because it looks much better. The menu style is rubbish compared to other handsets such as Samsung and video quality and sound isn't the best. However this phone does make up for its downfalls with features such as radio, camera, video recording - though poor, external display, rather customisable and great looks. Thats the 6101 then. hi, the nokia 6101 looks a really good fone it was released from virgin today i fink i have been chasing this fone for a while and its finally come to virgin! but ive been reading some bad press about it like bad quality sound and v poor memory space, virgin claims it has 16mb but im not sure thats true they've been rong in the past but its going for �149 and i could get a sony ericsson k700i for �129 which should i get? Well, almost a week has been past since I've got this phone. My opinion hasn't changed much, since the first impression i've had. The phone is still very nice to look at (black version), I don't mind the fingerprints anymore... :-p The usage is good and no (software) problems encountered this past week. I paid 250 euro's for it... Normal price here in The Netherlands, a bit expensive. But don't pay more than this, or else you're really wasting money.

Hi. Reception seems fine, although its all network dependant. I am on Tesco mobile and that runs from o2 and i dont get very good signal with o2 in my area. But T-Mobile, Virgin, Orange etc all run fine with great reception strenght. It all depends on the area and network your in.

Hi all. Just responding to the white/black situation everyone is having. Personally i think the white is better than the black. Mainly because the black glossy finish on the front of the handset will pick up lots of fingerprints and its annoying. Its something you dont want to see on your brand new mobile - i had the same problem with my black Siemens SF65, and after a few days of rubbing everyones and my own finerprints off the phones body, it resulted in lots of cosmetic scratches. Sadly. But the white gloss doesnt show the finger prints as harshly which is a good thing. Most of the time you dont even think any are there. Mark

Just bought mine today, the black version. The fingerprints are well seen on the glossy black part... Perhaps it is less seen on the white 6101? My first impression is quite good, keyboard is VERY comfortable to use, the inner display shows a very high quality. Only one big minus... The MP3-function (as ringtone or alarm-alert): the speaker-quality is very poor. The sound is too high and no bass is heared. Polytones are better on this phone. Too bad. I'll post another comment next week or so, when I have more experience with it.

Hi all. Well, for the person who asked if you could assign ringtones to individual people then im afraid that you cant. I just had a look and it doesn't appear to be an avaliable option. Hope this helps. As for the sturdiness of the Nokia 6101 for cfrock, i think it is a really solid construction. It feels like any other high class flip phone on the market. Really sturdy and solid. It has a great close action and feels solid when you flip the phone shut. It becomes loose when the phone is open - enough so you can close the phone with one hand but it doesnt hinder the phones already well built construction. Its actually quite handy in some cases! So there you have it. Good solid design that feels like it wont break within a week. I'm lovin this phone at the moment and i'm sure you all will too! Mark.

Sorry to keep posting i bet your all sick of me now! Lol. Anyways, i have found out how to get the main menu in a grid view and its not the usual settings > display > main menu view > grid etc, whilst in the main menu you ave to press options > main menu view > grid. It sounds so simple but most times we miss the simple things. Well i do anyway! So i've had the phone for a bit longer and i'm really startin to love it. Ok, so i have it now. Had the handset for around an hour and a half. First impressions aren't good which is a shame really. As i said before there are ALWAYS good AND bad points. I shall list what i belive makes the phone a good handset and the things that are bugging me. Good Points + Its a Nokia! Easy to use, fast reaction speed, good ringtones etc. + The phones a great looking handset. Mines the white colour and it looks great. + External screen is of good quality, could be better but its good enough and a nice size. + Excellent quality keypad, really comfortable to use and a strong nice blue backlighting. + Camera of good quality. There is no zoom function until after you have captured your image. While most people who hear this say 'oh god thats rubbish!', well try looking at the quality when you've zoomed. If you have a mobile that zooms the picure always blurs or goes fuzzy, with the Nokia 6101, the iamge remains crystal clear - similar to the 6230. + The phone has radio, video record, PTT, infa-red, etc. All these things build up the phones strong features. People may moan about lack of bluetooth, well infa-red is a substitute in this case. At least there is some way of data transfer to other mobiles. Bad Points - MAIN MENU!!!!! The menu style on my handset is in a list? I believe you can have an icon style main menu, but i cant find it anywhere and i hate the list style. It looks dull and boring. Maybe it is network depending but it really shouldnt be. - Video quality isnt great but you cant really class this as a bad point because at least the phone has a video record function! - The phones pre-installed wallpapers aren't the best. I really dislike them and they dont suit the overall look of the phone. - The phones memory isnt great as you all know from everyones whinging. Yes it's a problem but get over it and look else where if you take loads of pictures. Thats all i can really think of. As i say ive only had it for around an hour and a half so my opinion could change. The bad points always seem to disappear from my mind when i look at the lovely design of the phone. But then i open it and access the main menu and im just let down again. Hopefully i will find out how to change the menu but its not looking hopeful. Overall i would give this phone a 6 out of 10. Maybe a little harsh but the bad points do plague the phone. I will write back hear once i have got to grips with the phone more. Hope this helps some people with their decision. I recieved my Nokia 6101 this morning at 7:25AM! However i wasn't awake for it and neither was anyone else so i'm picking it up from the post office depot shortly. Once i have got to grips with it - which shouldnt take long with it being a nokia, i will post a review that will actually HELP people instead of you having to listen to the phones problems and not its strengths. Thats one thing that annoys me about this site. A phone has 2 sides to it - good AND bad, i never hear anyone listing the good things apart from it looks good. Well we gathered that but people want to know how the phone performs, its reaction speed, the design of the menu, the screen quality, etc etc etc. All this will be discussed in my review. i am looking forward a new hp n have actually eyeing on this model via Net for quite sometime before it is presently available in Malaysia. Perhaps this is one of the flip phones i like the most as all the features i would want can be found here. :) The price is about RM750 in Malaysia (reasonable for such features). I have checked it out in a hp shop today but i was quite disappointed with the memory and MP3 thingey. Why is that only 4.4 MB? sigh~ And yes, unfortunately, the quality of the sound performance is lamentable. It is somewhat monstrous and vex you unpleasantly, murderous for one's ears. With such a perfect design, but such minuses... i think i will seriously reconsider whether or not to own one...Or anyone can give me some suggestions regarding to my problems?? any other model(s) to recommend please?? thanks...

And secondly Nokia has kept the memory of 6101 low because there is need to. If they would have raised the memory and other features then the price segment Nokia wanted to cater with this phone would have finished. Look at the price boss and look at the sexy thing. Its coool and worth the money we are paying for it.

I donnot agree to the below comments at all. Nokia is too big & effecient to get caught in such problems. No idendity crisis. Nokia is only catering to the needs of the masses. Design & fell becomes secondary before the public demand. And I for one have always wanted that Nokia should bring something closer to what samsung's usp was. Good Job Nokia... We will always love you for the time & devotion you give to this trade. Salaam Nokia.

I agree. Nokia IS having an identity crisis. What happened to all their classic phones like the 5110, 3315 and 3200? These ones you could look at and say "now that's a nokia". Now u look at all these new nokias and say "that looks like they are trying to copy some other wierd brand or trying to just be try hards". Its not cool nokia. Find your 'thing'and stick to it!

This is the phone I will be getting to replace my ageing 6610i which has served me well for over a year although the camera has become quite blurred since I bought it orignally. Some say it looks like other models made by other manufacturers, so what they all copy each other from time to time. It doesn't have a Megapixels camera, so what I already have a perfectly fine 3.2 megapixel olympus camera. So it doesn't have multi memory, does this matter as long as it has some sort of stroage space there is no problem. People say it ain't like this model or like that model, who cares at the end of they have made phones that do those extra features but not on this phone, why because not everyone wants a load of features they will never use. I can see this phone doing very well in London & the rest of the UK, another Nokia classic

Yes it is a good phone with somethings like bluetooth missing but good value for the price. Amother minus is that for all callers you have the same ring tones. Very limited amount of ring tones in the phone on the whole for a price of around �uro 230 it is good.

I like the design if i wasnt a person after SPEC + DESIGN. Maybe this would be suitable for a person to have a good looking phone and not care about extra features. The silver 1 looks nicer IMO lol. But Samsung still have been spec WITH some nice designs.

jenny - yes only the black colour will be available - nokia have just launched this phone in the country, it will arrive maybe end of next week to the suppliers, so the resellers should get it maybe the week after.... still awaiting network approval, but once one of the networks approve it, it will be available to purchase, and sorry, but yes only black will be released to the australian market :) silver may be available (ebay?) however this would not come with the australian a-tick nor the australian warranty, so be careful :)

A great looking fone and it's about time Nokia adapted the Samsung look. But alas no GPRS and no Bluetooth, surely modern fones need both to even be considered? Having said that I may plump for a 2nd hand one later in the year if I can get a decent price on eBay for my V3. Next time Nokia, please, get it 100% right, not 98% right? :-(

great phone by nokia! at last they made a clamshell fliptop phone. but i'm disappointed because it doesn't have a MMC and a bluetooth. samsung and motorola is copying nokia's features or services for so long. give nokia a chance to copy their design. and i'm not really surprised that it doesn't have a MMC and b.tooth. because if they put it all in that phone. they may not have a chance of getting high sales from other phones. remember this. cellular makers will not make an excellent phone. hey! its business. ^_^

i admit this phone is rather a lot like some samsung models but i'm glad nokia is streamlining the shape of it's phones. some of the earlier clamshell nokias were a bit too bulky for my taste. please roll out more slim n curvy flip phones but maintain the nokia traditionalstrenght n features. my personal opinion? nokia is to phones what benz is to cars.

This phone will be almost perfect if it had BLUETOOTH!. One of the most talk about aspects of this phone is the design. Handsdown this phone is by far the best clamshell Nokia had built in a while. I would personally pick this over the Nokia 6260 if it had the Bluetooth. In terms of merge between Samsung and Nokia, I would think Nokia will buy out Samsung, because Nokia by far had emerge and successful in terms of sales, durability, ingenuity, and reputation.

My first phone was a motorola and my last phone a motorola. I have found the functions on both phones to be unsatisfactory. I have had several nokia's and have found them to be easy to use and understand, with no muck ups in the functions. Any Nokia myself or friends have had,we would recommend. There is a Nokia to suit everybody.

I find these simple look + familiar are just great and would be really easy to use! Re-arrangeing the number buttons, complicated dial lay-out could be nice and make a different but I believe that "easy to use" layout and "familiar" are the main key-points to success! (Imagine if they decide to install the air-plane sterring wheel in your car!)

Yes of course its samsungs design, i like the samsung but i'm a devout nokian. nokia simply saw ways of improving what the guys at samsung have come up with and the result is brilliant, like all of their products. i'm not a small phones person but the 6101 is beautiful and will give girls; mostly who are comparing the nokia and the samsung a no brainer obvious choice. ***connecting people***

the phone is fantastic and wonderful to have it but no bluetooth but i hope they will have new nokia 6101i so they can include bluetooth to make me happy and buy the nokia phone coz i am a die hard nokia fun who always loves to have nokia cellphone not other product cellphone. i give the phone 4.5 stars

Great phone but no bluetooth and expansion memory. Hopefully, Nokia would come out one with that this year. I think they were planning to release 40 new designs this year. Lets cross our fingers. :)

looks pretty much like motorola v600 series to me. hmm..even their buttons colour looks identical, although the only thing that looks different is the antenna.

well well seems like the copy-look is being a quite issue in here:) Even thou, they two are sharing the samilar design I think at least Nokia still remain some look of Asian-pnone-like free, like, color or feel when I firstly see it I still feel the look of Nokia (perhaps the tone of colors)

I liked the purpose, but didn't like the design. For me it looks like a copy of Samsung with a different keyboard. Why didn't the do it with internal antenna? Maybe it's a great renewal of 6100 with a camera and some new function, in a clamshell design.
