I remember when I had this phone, it was perfect. It had the looks of a business phone, a color screen, IR port, FM radio and a built in camera. It was really awesome. The only problem was the Nokia 6230, that was offering even more, but it was too expensive for me at that moment. I really loves this phone. I got myself a 6230 after this phone but it wasn't as good looking as this one...

I had this for >10 years with the original battery, until an error message about service appeared, the phone shut down randomly and the camera no longer works. I wish my new phone will last as long as this one!

Bought this phone in 2005. Used it about 2 years and then bought new phone. It was working fine though. I once hit it with football by accident and cracked the plastic screen, but no more serious problems. Gave this phone later on to my friend, who used it until 2010. Then it broke, but i don't know why.

I have had it (Nokia 6610i) working very well for about 8 years. In fact I got it from my sister after about 2 years of work and it have worked till now (few days ago) for me. Suddenly it started to show a "Contact Service" message and no antenna signal. When I power off it and remove its battery for about 20 minutes and turn it on again it has signal for a few minutes but then turns to no signal and turning on/off shows "Contact Service" message unless battery is removed for another 20 minutes. I like it very much and hope I can get it back to work. I have a lot of memorial photos (even if with low resolution) in it. I need to buy an infrared irDA dongle and try to install Nokia PC Suite such that I can extract my contacts, calendar/to-do-list notes and my valuable photos. I can not use a USB cable connector on it since the connector socket for cable is recently detached due to my frequent attachment and removal of headphone. I hope that I can repair the connector socket of my phone some where such that I can at least connect the headphone to get back its radio to work. Also for repairing the no signal "Contact Service" problem I have searched a lot on the web and found some repair-men forum posts who say flush it or reheat some IC on its board to get it back. But I do not know if there is any service today after 8 years which can do that on this Nokia 6610i. Further I need to buy some infrared irDA and install a proper version of Nokia PC Suite to extract my photos/contacts and notes before a flushing try. truth is this 4n was one of the best in its time. no software issues or the sort but there are definitely better phones today (expected)but for this phone it was the best in its series. Had it for about 4 years, only prob i got with it was it was stolen. Nyc 4n

I have this set since july 04. I don't use it any more but it still works great as my backup set . I only had to change the battery 2 years ago. Of course, these day its too old-fashioned, and lacking in specs but still it has excellent signal reception.

I have one since 2004 and i love it. I don't use it any more but it still works great. I only had to change the battery 2 years ago. Of course, nowadays is too old-fashioned, and lacking in specs. But there are 2 things that old nokias had and those of today don't: the lovely menu with big icons and the great signal reception.

For all those complaining about the infra-red capabilities on this phone: It is six years old now! This was designed primarily as a business phone, therefore the only infrared capbilities the handset natively supports is the sending and receiving of contact details ("Business cards") and calendar entries and memo's. With a laptop and driver software the IR port can also be used as a wireless modem (back in the days before widespead wi-fi usage). It cannot be used to send/receive multimedia content to other phones. Within its limitations this is a great phone with excellent battery life and is very quick to charge even after six years of use. The camera is basic (VGA) and not suited to anything but close-ups and GPRS internet is slow. It is a phone for calling people, and calling people is what it does well.

Well Infrared in this set does not allow to transfer mms,pictures,videos etc. It only allows contact transfer through IR. I have been using this cell from last 6 years..bought it way back in 2004(Last Quarter)...Status is discontinued though but i still love this one :)

We share the same problem. My Nokia 6610i is working with calls nad messaging. I am happy with it not until finding its infrared sending and receiving capabilities as NOT working. I can the InfraRED ON. It shows in the status bar but i cant send and recieve pictures thru IR. help anyone?

mr gagan... get a new battery. it should be less than 100 for without warranty and maybe a 150rs for a 6 months warranty battery.. and shud be higher for original.. the 6months warranty battery shud suffice... try one.. its a sure good phone.. maybe the one you have purchased has some trouble.. since you have only been using for a few months, i assume you purchased it second hand. and since it is old it had problems... when people grow old, they have sickness and all.. does not mean they are chutiya... whatever negativity that means.. its the same way with all things... but in case of material things we have choices, so in first place you shouldnt have purchased this. alas! get a new one. :)

my dad bought it for me on april 14, 2006. my first pictures taken with this phone way back then were my families, friends, and my girlfriend. now, i deleted some of those pictures to give enough space for my son's. i even brought it with me as a back-up together with 3510i and n73.

This phone is the OBAMA of nokia phones.Undisputedly a superb phone.It fell in a full basin of water n all i did was to sun dry it and it worked. But its extremly senstive to water so keep it as far as possible from liquids. one annoying thing though is that the housings fade like hell hence affecting it's sleek look. i got fed up of changing housings n stuck to the old one.

Rajan - yes it is possible provided it is activated by ur service provider but as per experience it really becomes a headache for the small fonts and a display size morever being a class 6 gprs phone the browsing speed would be typically slow. U can surely test check and go ahead.

Had been using this phone from Feb2005, and is almost like my mate have already clocked over 3200 hours, the radio quality is too good even now, battery back up nd network dosent need ny thing to say, looks its really a killing one.Had fallen from good heights the facia had broken still its heart keep on beating.No wonder it has been one of the finest products from the Nokia stable and wonder why dosent they relaunch the phone with a better cam. This is an old phone, and it certainly doesn't have a huge amount of features. But I've had it for four years now, and it's been my backup phone whenever other phones have died. It works PERFECTLY, and I wish Nokia still made phones like this! The screen cover eventually separated from the rest of the cover and had to be put back in place with blu-tack, but this doesn't present a problem. The screen is good, the battery is still great, the camera works (although it's not so great) and none of the features have died. Although it's old and not so fancy any more, I'd absolutely recommend it. It's a FAITHFUL phone, and great quality!

Activate youre infrared through the menu (I think settings, connections, infrared, actibvate). Then place the infrared port next to a other infrared port and then go to the thing you wanna send, options, send, then select infrared and it shoud be sent. Make sure the ports are lying exactly to eachother.

You can get settings through youre provider. But why do you wanna go on the internet with this phone. Its slow, it has a small screen. Better do it on youre laptop/PC or on a phone thats kind of made for it!

I've been using this phone since 2004 August and it still didn't give me any trouble except for the restarting problem that it very rarely given when sending a text msg. Trust me this is the best phone i bought in my life. Superb in every aspect. great keypad, long lasting battery. I must have dropped this phone more that 50 times but YaY it's still working superb except for few scratches (that's unavoidable right?)

MXIT problem. I downloaded Mxit Version 5.3.0. Registration option and completed everything and accepted all info. Had no conformation of registration. Closed application , open mxit again. When I went to login. The following info came on: cell number, Mxit pin. Accepted that the application starts to login. Received message that I must register before I can login. Can someone help??

I had my 6610i for 3 years and never had any trouble untill i droped it into a camp fire.. Well i loved this phone and i even got my mates around to have a funeral for it. since then i have had a N81 it had to be replaced after i had it for about 2 weeks the screen was not working since then it has been great. RIP 6610i.

i have had a 6610i for the last 2 years and it has finaly died on me but i still think it is one of the best phones i have ever had. it ad been droped into a glass of water and a glass of beer and all it did was turn off and then it got thron at the side of a house and smashed. i put it back togeather and it wouldent turn on so i pluged it nto the charger and away it went again. and then finaly the screen wouldent turn on but i could still answer it and have a perfictly good conversation. what an mad phone.

I am using this Nokia 6610i for the last four years and didn't face any problem with it, instead the Nokia N72 which i am using at present just got automically switched off yesterday and is not getting switched on again. Most probably its software is corrupted. But this 6610i is really a great fone which is running continuously for years in my palm with no rest. Really its a tuff fone.

Had this phone for 2 and a half years now, very nice phone and had no problems with it. This will be my last Nokia though, I have a N70 and its just trouble all the time. Disconnecting when used as a modem.., froze last week and now cannot start at all! Just died. Bottom line: keep your trusty old Nokia's and get something else it you need a new phone.

this phone is also known as the 7250i... i don't like nokias anymore... they manufactured 6610 then made the 7250 then again made the 7250i (with camera)and then the 6610i (with camera)... the only difference is their housing/casing! to those who ask for the infrared, the infrared is only intended for sending business cards

PDPg, the pop-port is located at the bottom of the phone to the right of where you plug in the charger. To connect this phone to a PC you need a Nokia CA-42 Cable and the Nokia PC Suite software. Then you can send messages through your computer, manage (copy, delete, rename, move, transfer etc.) items in the gallery as well as manage the address book and messages. Hope this helps. -John

Great phone. Battery life is OK. Camera is crap, but I don't use it anyway. In spite of what some people have posted, infrared DOES WORK. All you need to do is enable it (Connectivity > Infrared), then put the phone near your PC's infrared port. Then you can use Nokia PC Suite to transfer images, midis etc. from and to your phone. Only downside in my opinion is its somewhat ramshackle cover + keypad.

i've had this phone for over 2 years now and the infrared does not work. At the time, a main reason for buying this was infra red and thats disappointing. Also the camera quality isnt great but besides that, the ringtone quality is great and the radio is a great feature. I would reccomend anyone to buy this though!

This phone is with me for over 2 years now. I bought it last September of 2004. This is a very tough phone. My wife has thrown it to me twice already and of course it didn't hit me. The first time it hit a concrete wall, the second was a cabinet made of wood. The frame suffered a crack but it worked perfectly well after assembling it. The phone is a bit out dated, but is still a nice phone. Nothing wrong with infrared. I use it to transfer data to and from my pc all the time. Pics, backup sms, connect to the internet, transfer java midlets ect. Make sure your infrared port is a "IRDA" port and is enabled in your bios (the setting when your pc starts up eg "Press F2 for setup"). Also get the lastest nokia pc suite software. WinXP should first popup with an Nokia 6610i connected balloon, then Nokia pc suite with detect is. Hope it helps

I've been using the Nokia 6610i for almost two years. At the time when I bought it, I was happy that it had a built in camera. However nowadays, a camera less than 1MegaPixels is considered to be quite poor. The looks of the phone are one of its best features, its quite small and slim, and you will not feel it when placed in your pocket. The camera is OKish, nothing wow but very poor photos at night. There are three main things that this phone lacks: 1. Video Camera 2. Voice Recording 3. Bluetooth Menu is the standard Nokia menu that I am quite addicted to. Battery life is very impressive, can last up to 5 days when not used a lot. I had a slight problem with the squeaky back cover at first that annoyed me, but I solved it by inserting a small 1cm x 3 cm thin cardboard next to the battery, which completely solved the problem (since I rarely open my back cover, I forgot its there). I downloaded tons of free games and ringtones that were all compatible with 6610i, so that was good. The phone has a loudspeaker, and the handsfree is also good. Voice quality is very good. In summary, I rate this phone to be 8/10. Its a good buy if you would like something elegant, simple, with a colour screen and a basic camera.

One of the classic Nokia phones... small, useful and it just takes all the knocks. I bought one to replace my 6230 when it got stolen and I am going to keep it when I get my N80 because it's just such a useful phone to have - battery life is LONG, the case withstands anything and it's got everything you need. One of the best :)

This is one of the worst phones Nokia ever launched! It has a lot of features but only in papers. It looks stylish, but this is all. It has radio, like I'll buy a phone to listen radio. But IrDa port is useless, no Bluetooth, so connectivity is near zero. The camera is crap, the display is small. I was Nokia user, but now I've switched. Since 6210 (ok, let's say 6310), they are producing only gadgets for kids, expensive and low quality. Nokia 6610i is almost the same as 3100, just the radio and camera as suplementary features. But a low quality camera and a radio that most don't use.

i think nokia6610i is the best phone in it's class of phones. its integrated stereo fm radio is very good to listen music.it is easy to transfer images and application's in the phone with the help of usb data cable.

@heavenly You can download images to ur phone using PCsuite. In there you can copy'n paste it easily as when using Windows OS. Good luck!

Brill phone the only dwn side is the connectivity and camera: Connectivity-theres no bluetooth and the IR port will only send/recive buisness card and calender dates etc..... Camera- Not the best camera but for the size and wait of the phone i suppose its alrite :D

hi, at first i was amazed with my NOKIA 6610i phone it is so great untill i used my infared. it's not working i don't know why they put on the features, just to say that 6610i can perform many many things to do? one thing is, the case is very weak its not really fit, accidently i drop the phone once and the case detach right away..

The infrared port is on top of the cell on the left hand side of the power button. The infrared is not on by defaul but it needs to switched on my going to Menu-> Connectivity-> infrared. It should work!!!!!!!!!

I am writeing my opinion abaut 6610i from a 6610i :-) useing GPRS ,i'm happy I find a solution for IR and theat's IR cabble and it works verry good,6610i users shoud try it!The camera it's not sow good :-( and amr dosen't but in rest it's a good phone

considering the fact that it is one of the the 1st cam fone i wont say anythng!!! good radio but poor battery support if u use loudspkrs infra is totaly useless. u can transfer contacts only to another nokia fone only! memory is enough as the pics r of max 17kb in size!!!

love this phone!it smashed on to the ground once from the 1st floor of a building!it still runs like when i bought it over a year ago! over 100 hours of calls duration, no problem whatsoever.does the job perfectly! good quality of the materials! great battery, up 2 8 days!what more can i say? its perfect for someone who doesnt takes care of IT!

@Akram Hakeem - you can use infrared port ONLY to transfer things from phonebook and only between Nokia phones. So normaly infrared port is not very usefull.

the phone *CAN* download ringtones using IR connection. i am creating my ringtones from old amiga music, even from c64 (i have yie-ar kung-fu theme right now). it does not rule, but it does not suck either. paid just 30 euros, thanks to SFR, so for me it is a great bang for the buck. i agree that poliphony is not that good, NECs rule in that area IMO. I really miss the Shakuhachi in my lost-bitterly NEC 341i

I've been using this 6610i since 2004, for those who need small, simple, just sms or mms and, just in case need a camera, it might be the right choice. If you need hi-end camera, etc, this is not the one. I have SE s700i and K750, they are better but hugh, heavy, bulky...

This Phone is quite good. Camera is quite bad and blurry. Radio Is Good but you should be outside somewhere to get a good signal. I Connect this phone from Nokia PC - Suite to my PC from USB Cable Easy Transfer. Ringtones are good to be heard on this phone aswell. 2 Good Games and 2 Good Applications. 4Mb Memory is quite enough for photos and ringtones.

Infrared is perfectly working with PC Suite. Yes,i was very unhappy abt non working of IR. But after installing PC Suite i able to - 1. Transfer all Photos capture to PC (Images are blurt but OK if captured in day light) 2. Transfered all Contacts to OutLook 3. Backuped 4. Uploaded images from PC to Phone 5. Message manipulation possible But I need to study how download and upload ring tones to & from Mobile. If anybody has idea plz share. I am very much happy with this handset.

The gadget is smarter than the user...., at least that's the case for me! What the company calls accessories are the essentials, are not available, namely, camera/USB cable, the car jack, IR port for the PC-at least in Pakistan. When I ask any dealer about them, he looks at me as if I am coming from some other planet. secondly, the mobile compies havent, so far provide the GPRS and PC to mobile link services to take full advantage of the power of the set. Otherwise you could talk to your girlfriend on only Rs:2000/- set, see.....

Hei Friends, IR facility is good in this fone. But it is restricted only to business cards. You can one n only trasfer business cards from your mobile to another. You can't transfer ringtones, pictures etc., using IR. This fone doesn't support that features..

I am not able to transfer data or even connect the Nokia 6610i to my PC with a USB port. The port, the wire is all fine as it detects other Nokia models but not my phone. As soon as I connect my cell, Nokia PC Suite 6.4.8 prompts with an error. �Unable to recognize the phone. Data connection error� Does anyone have a clue regarding this?

switch from 8250 to this phone 1 year ago.. another great nokia! The buttons are tiered and very easy to push (unlike samsung), the ringing is the loudest so far.. and i've since solve the 'missed call' problem. Well.. i've to agree that the camera quality is bad and the on/off button is hard to reach.. anyway i dun think i on/off it often.. average maybe once a quarter.. the battery life is very long.. charge every 4 days or longer i guess..

I can give the phone 6.5 out of 10. The features are good. But the camera is really bad. Infrared does not work. But except these the phone's ok. but i shall tell everyone to buy other Nokia phones.

This is the worst phone I have ever had. The casing is flimsy, the power button almost impossible to press, the camera is rubbish, the 4-way menu key is poorly designed and difficult to read. It smacks of phone rushed out to capture the built-in camera market. I will never buy Nokia again.

Terrible build quality. Within a month of purchase the case started creaking and squeaking and then the buttons stopped working properly. Some of the buttons had to be pressed really hard for them to work. And as if this wasnt enough, the lighting of the buttons started flickering whenever I pressed a button.And even the paint job of the case is pretty bad. If you want a solidly built mobile you should definitely NOT go for Nokia.

I do agree with the comment that picture resolution is not the greatest. There is no problem with the irda connection to the computer. An update was needed and an update I got. I am very satisfied with my 6610i.

The IrDA on the nokia 6610i is only ment for sending business cards (contacts) and calender notes and alarms to other mobile phones .All tought i dont no why you'ed want to send calander notes with alarms or contacts when your in the same room as the person your sending it to thats what nokia programed it to do and i dont think theres a way around it

I thought I'd post this to save people time. I got a Nokia 6230i and I found this page because my infra red was not working. I'm sure it's the same for lots of Nokia phones. The problem was that the speed of the infra red port on my pc was too fast. Go to device manager, go to the properties of your infra red port, and drop the speed to 9600bps. then it should work. I have used it and it for is a very good phone. I will summarize the plusses and minusses. PLUSSES: Nice design, 500 phone numbers, speaker phone, easy use of keys, acceptable kind of ringtones. MINUSSES: absolutely useless camera feature (okay i dont need a nikon or olympus in a phone, but atleast it should be as good as a similarly priced samsung or sonyE.) slight lack of voice clarity, not related to reception, but related to speaker when using it in the regular(non-speaker phone) mode. All in all i recommend this phone if camera is not your priority.

Hey Esther , nokia 6610 and 6610i allows only the calender notes to be transferred via infrared. My 3200 allows all kinds of transfers - be it photos, notes anything .. this is what I tried with a friend's 6610i and only the notes transferred ... Check out with the nokia people.. I had this phone for about two weeks. It was a good phone but I didn't like it. It was my first camera phone so my expectations were a little higher. I bought 6610i 2 days ago. Of course IrDA was one of the things I bought it for. So as many are asking questions, I will answer: Nokia has blocked IrDA to recieve multimedia on phonephone basis. But the transfer of games, apps, midi, jpeg etc is working when transmitting to computer. I use SigmaTel chipset based IrDA USB adapter with my Windows 2000 machine. Nokia PC Suite and Oxygen Phone Manager 2.7 works perfectly with it. Maybe some hacked firmware could do the trick by unblocking the potential this phones' hardware has. My rating is 8/10. Very good, nice looking, perfectly working. A pity it has not bluetooth :(

It's infrared is good for nothing, you cant' send recieve any tones-pictures over it....only contacts.I liked it's battery endurance, I liked it's GPRS data speed, but the camera sux like most NOKIA-s it has a not so good display.Good thing it has a radio, and it has a good JAVA aplication-s support.And 4MB mem. is not so bad!One more bad thing is the polyphonic sound, the 4-channel polyphonic sound's sound like crap, it also can't record sounds!

the IRDA on nokia 6610 /6610i has been configured to only send/receive calender notes and business cards .... This phone is ok if ur not after lots of gagets in a phone. The main disapointment with this phone is the CSTN 4k color screen. At first it didnt look to bad, but when i compared it to a 6230 TFT display it looks terrible, very yellow, lots of ghosting and not to bright. If it had a TFT display it would look much nicer!

i use nokia pc suite 6.41 over windows xp sp1 with infrared adapter and works just fine. the infrared adapter does not work with no service packs. use service pack 1 for windows xp and u`ll be using pc suite and ir with no problems

Here's how I solved it: - right-click on My Computer and select Properties - select the Hardware tab and click on Device Manager - find your IrDA adapter (under Infrared Devices) - right-click and select Properties - select the Advanced tab and, whilst the Infrared Transceiver Type is selected on the left, change the value to the right - the options there probably differ depending on your hardware, but I've found Vishay TFD to work flawlessly - "OK" your way out of there I read on some article that the default transceiver type is pretty unreliable, for some obscure reason that I don't remember anymore. Hope this helps. Note that this assumes you're using Windows, and I'm not sure whether this applies to internal IR deviced. As mentioned, I have an USB dongle myself. Anyway, I have a question myself. Having googled for a few hours I couldn't manage to find a definite answer to the question, whether or not I can upload images from the phone to a website? When browsing to the form I can fill in all the fields just fine, including selecting the picture from the Gallery to upload, but it never seems to reach the server. Does anyone have a clue? For the record, I'm trying to write my own moblog application, and need some way to get the pics from the phone to my server. Thanks in advance.

All of You who have problems with the IR connection whith this phone, test this, for me it have worked; * Install the Nokia pc-suite, latest version. You can get it from Nokias homepage. * Open up This Computer, Control Panel, and then Wireless Connection Manager (I`ll think thats the name) and choose third tab - advanced, then second tab - properities. * You�ll find a listbox in the middle, choose to lower the speed option to lowest rate, here it is 9,600 baud, I�ll think. Close window via OK. Soon Your phone will be found inside the Nokia Phone Manager and You be able to transfer files and photos via IR. When it works, Your phone will be seen at the left side of the Explorerlike interface of Nokia Phone Manager. Just doubleclick on the name of Your phone and copy Your files as usual. This Worked for me, for sure. Good Luck!

the body design is fine and the picture quality is better than most nokia phones though it can be improved to be as good as other brands. the dissapointing thing about this phone is that the IR port is useless. wats the groove in having a good camera phone when you cant send your pictures? You CAN actually send images to a pc via infrared, but you need to download software called nokia pc suit from nokia.com first. Rather silly, but it works.

having compared with the 6610 the 6610i is a pathetic phone.if u looking out a camera phone better skip the N6610i.the 6610 is a better option for a standard rough use phone.file transfers from 6610/i or to 6610/i is virtually impossible thru IR.you can only forward messages from the calendar option. please do not consider 6610i as a camera phone.

Having returned the horrible "Motorola C975" I am glad I chose this phone. This phone has every thing I need in a phone. It's user friendly, easy to text, finding contact in phone book etc and is the same size as the 6100. Although the 6230 has more features like mp3 player and video camera I don't need these as I already have a 40 GB mp3 player which I am very happy with and don't care about a video camera as it records about 10 seconds of footage which is hardly anything. The only moan is the quality of the camera which is 4,096 compared to the 6230's 65,000 pixels but if you connect the phone to a pc you can use software to enhance the images which makes it clearer. Radio and GPRS are superb. Overall in my opinion 9.5/10. Good alternative to the 6230 if you dont need the 6230's features or it is too expensive. You can find it under �100 on the internet.

i bought the nokia 6610i on thursday. it is a great phone and well worth the money. I was going to get samsung e700, but i realised it does everything the e700 does but better. The cameras good, could be better but it works which is good for me. The best bit is the radio though, good reception, u can store up 2 20 channels and it doesnt waste battery life. The reception on 6610i is gr8 and so is battery life. i think that anyone on these forums putting down the nokia 6610i is out of their mind and they dnt no wot they are tlkin bout, because this is the best fone i eva bought! dnt listen to down raters listen to me! for all u peeps who are interested in buying 6610i then go for it, its well worth it!

This phone is quite good for the price. It includes a high quality radio which can be played through the loud speaker but requires headset to act as the antenna. The loudspeaker is very good when using as a phone call or listening to the radio. This phone has good reception. Has a Simple key pad layout whcih is good for txting. The 0.1 megapixel camera is not as bad as said, it is 288x352 whcih may seem small but is not that bad. The camera has a usable night mode, portrait mode and self timer for 10 seconds. Amazingly this phone has 4mb of memory (3.6mb usable). Also is IR but i can send ringtones or recive them from other phones However this Nokia 6610i is let down by the screen. The screen is of decent resolution 128x128, but it is an out dated STN Passive matrix display which looks ok but has ghosting which ruins the camera view finder mode and makes the camera look bad. It is also notice able when in games and scrolling fast. The polyphonics are not that great either. However they are loud and nice to hear but are to simplistic they are only 4 voice, which means 4 tones can be played at once, where as more expensive ones like 6230 have at least 24 tones played at once. From my observations this phone is identical to the nokia 7250i, the cases fit each other! technically they are the same. However i like this phone still and i would recommend. since it does alot for a low price. I got this for $430 NZD

I got my Nokia 6610i two months ago and until now I wasn't able to find ways to enable me use neither PC Suite 6.2 nor 6.3? Infrared doesn't recognize the unit it only shows RM-37 which I think is the software loaded. @ Kieran MOBILE PICTURE QUALITY Two years ago I would have agreed with you, this phone rocks. NOW, this phone is way behind the rest, so as 70% of the rest that Nokia produces. My Sharp GX20 with it's "plain" CCD VGA camera takes EXCELLENT pictures very suitable for Web and even print-out. Great color, great contrast, and 90% of the time sharp. It has a macro and normal mode, so you can take close ups of something. If you want proof, e-mail me and I'll send you some pic's. Sony Ericsson is keeping up with Sharp by producing excellent quality camera phones. Where is Nokia? If you want quality and really use a Multimedia phone, try some other producers. Nokia is only the best if you've never tried anything else. And your pride will be hurt even more if Nokia isn't coming up with something good soon.

Ok yall, All who go on about how good this 6610i is: Take a break and think! What features does this phone have, that the 6610 did not have? It's got a CAMERA, whooopdedoo!!! AND a bad one too, CIF (0.1 Mpx). 6610 - 4096 colors....6610i - 4096 colors 6610 - WAP 1.2.1......6610i - WAP 1.2.1 6610 - FM Radio.......6610i - FM Radio etc. etc. WITHIN 2 YEARS, Nokia was not able to update the screen quality, camera quality and storage size. Features have mildly increased by adding an XHTML browser. On a small screen like that it's useless. Are you guys aware that this is a half chewed candy in a new wrapper? It's not even new, they just added a bad-quality camera. Seriously, you cannot see a clear image on it, the screen is crap and the camera has too little resolution to be called "decent". It's a shame, really, it is. If you buy the 6610i you are ripping yourself off. Buy at least the 7610 if you HAVE to stick with Nokia. I recommend SHARP, as I always do. But Motorola is good? Samsung maybe if you like it a bit cheaper? There is a whole new market to be explored and you guys are just being very loyal...ridiculously loyal.

BAD PHONE: CIF-Cam & CSTN-screen with 128 x 128 pixels and only 4096 colours. For EUR 279,- (unlocked) I get better phones...for example Nokia 3220 (TFT-screen with 128 x 128 pixels, 65536 colours,VGA-cam) or Sagem My-X5-2(TFT-screen with 120 x 160 pixels, 65536 colours, VGA-Cam)....

This is a very cool looking mobile with many diffrent useful facilities but i think that is memory capicity is very less it must be around 20 mb .In other sense a very good mobile

update on n6610i.. the infra red is kind of useless when u want 2 share files wif ur friends hp.. it cant work.. same goes for the pc.. u ned 2 dl programs from nokia b4 it works.. cumbersome indeed, so much for nokia to be user friendly.. nokia shd really rethink about their hps and observe SE quickshare techology to improve themselves.. FM radio and ringtones(is it 40chords?, i not sure) are gd however..

could had been a gd hp if it had a standard 65k screen.. its has almost the same specs as n3200 which is cheaper.. the 4mb memo is ok.. (3200 has 1mb and a extra touch light, thats the diff) overall: 6/10 could had failed if not for the user friendly grap interface and the FM radio..

I have the 6610 and its perfect! I was enthousiastic when i saw the 6610i, but then i saw the details :( still 4096 colors, CFI camera.. Why not VGA?!! Samsung and Sony are way ahead of this!! I'm very very dissapointed... :(

If you are buying this phone because of the camera, then you are at least 1 year behind! As it was noted earlear, this phone has a CIF camera, i.e. the worst possible one currently in the market. When considering this phone, you should think about other factors: +radio (nice to have it) +handsfree (practical) +price(lets hope it is low enough) -camera (9 out of 10 photos usless) -4096 colors (basic, could have been more) ***size and design (mwa...)

I love my 6610. When I bought it, I thought it was nearly perfect, with only one ommission... a camera. I was excited when I saw that Nokia was releasing the 6610i... until I read the camera specs. A QVGA resolution camera?! What were they thinking? If it had been VGA I would have bought this phone in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, now I have to wait for the 6230 to drop in price. Nokia droped the ball on this one

CIF-Cam and a 4096 colors CSTN screen are not the technology standard. Nowadays we have VGA & Megapixel-Cams and active TFT-Displays with 65000 or around 262000 colors, Nokia.
