To those even thinking buying any phone with WP or W10m as primary phone... don't do it. The first one is dead and the other is soon to be dead in december of this year, MS will end official support to W10m so in a nutshell, all Windows Phone and W10m devices are dead OS. Buy an Android phone or iPhone.

This Lumia (and also other x30 and x40 Windows Phone devices) runs on Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box, so at least I do understand their reasoning.

i hear other people say, that it is more stable on windows 8.1 than 10.......that even the higher end lumia 950 is not encouraging though it's packing a 3gb ram, windows 10 on board and 32 gb internal storage

This particular phone is my first ever Windows Phone device after I had left Android some two years ago. Now running on the very latest build of Windows 10 Mobile v1709 at the time of this comment posting, this is now my daily driver. I have all the essential apps that I needed most and the camera is just superb as well as frequent update and security patches, so I don't see any reason on jumping ship for now.

I seems not to have any problem with Edge after I had installed Windows 10 Mobile on my Lumia 830. Text and call should never be a problem whatsoever. WhatsApp and Telegram are still fully supported and up-to-date.

i hate to say dis but u got only two options now, Android n iOS, if u want better feature Rich, Better Customization, nd between alot of price range, manufacturer, hardware etc options it'd be Android, and if u want longer term software nd security update with smooth, fast nd preminum time app experience than go for Apple. as of now at dis stage i won't suggest anyone to invest on any other OS, after spending hard earned money people need some future proofing in terms of company support unlike microsoft, wat they did with their mobile devices.

Browsing is the only area where windows mobile still lacks, nd far behind from android chrome, iOS Safari for that matter, in terms of performance, smoothness, nd broken pages very frequently browsing with multiple tabs... Won't recommend if u r looking specifically for browsing experience... Other than that its nice fluid, smooth UI experience, best Sound, DOLBY (Lumia 830), touch etc...

I have a Lumia 830, and it is one of my favorite phones. I've kept it on Windows 8.1 denim because that is a stable and mature OS (ignore Win10 Mobile). The UI is smooth and responsive, and homescreen is highly customizable. I've posted many photos of multiple sizes as tiles on the homescreen to give it a unique and fun look. Battery life is solid, battery is removable, call quality is good, and the smaller form factor is one that I prefer in this age of oversized, fragile phablets. I installed very few apps on the phone, so the poor Windows apps store doesn't bother me. I can make do mostly with what is already on the phone, and I don't use social media, either. You'll get more OS updates on iOS. You'll have more apps on Android. Blackberry gives you a physical keyboard. But if you want a true NOKIA Lumia phone, try the 830, or 1520 (probably the best all-around Win8 phone), or 1020 (awesome camera that still holds up today).

This is by far the best phone I've had the chance to work with in regards to internal hardware components and software implementation, going from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows Phone 10, was like turning on the main light in your living room and switching off that desk lamp that could barley light the room. I found it to be by far more consistent, performing and overall better. Just the adition of IE Edge implemented makes such a HUGE difference, I can view websites in their full view or their mobile view and lag, at least when everything in the page is compatible. To all those that have issues with their camera. I've learned too many times, the hard way that backing up you're phone is a must. So, backup your data, restore to factory defaults' and download latest update for windows phone, once installed, restore again your phone (as it will use the newly downloaded and updated Windows data and remove any residue from the update process, such as temp files). After which, you can restore your data using the internet settings options. Update Facebook and any other social apps that you may have before doing any picture uploads.

Windows Phone 10 is garbage. Window Phone 8.1 though is still good, Windows could have built on that and improved it over time but they didn't. Obviously main problem now is no more support and not many apps left so you have to go Android.

So So True. This phone can't even be classed as a P.O.S. Its that bad. Cant get any apps . Boarding pass apps for plane flights etc. Ive bought some poor products over the years but nothing compares to this absolute chunk of garbage. I wouldn't have the heart to offer this phone for free with a payed for plan to a homeless person as it would send them off the nearest bridge. I pray for a day where all Lumia owners can gather together for a final burning at the stake of this menace to modern society.

Owned 2 Lumia phones with the 830 the last and what I'm writing on now. . It was the worst phone experiences I have ever had in my life . Very buggy, limited apps , always crashing when uploading videos to my Instagram ...only good part was that I was so angry many times over with the crashing that I kept on punching the screen as hard as a I could and just couldn't crack it, so I give 10/10 for the screen , but I managed to bend it with my knee and it still works..no joke this phone has given me grey hairs. The Lumia phones are so bad the even windows has given up on it. I saved enough money to buy myself a android this weekend, can't wait. . When I get home the Lumia will meet my friend "The Hammer" .

Why do people update to w10? Just for fanciness? It brings nothing to the phone. As for the phone itself it's perhaps the best choices of Lumia phones if you don't mind the low sound volume when calling. It has capacitive buttons, optical video stabilization, good touch screen, good size and weight, wireless charger, camera button. Even more important it's a well made phone that doesn't have issues like other Lumia phones.

ur cellphones battery may causing this, or also depends on which OS u r on, bcz on both there are drawbacks as u know 8.1 no more supported by Microsoft as resultant even developers also withdrawing their support major players like facebook, and its messenger, some banking apps and many more. now on windows 10 mobile (Lumia 830), it think it hardware isn't strong enough to run well windows 10 and its Apps. still i suggest to upgrade bcz still MS providing cumulative dates, and its usable, and u get get everything for your basic need.

even though i can't remember how many times i went for windows 10 mobile, every time i preferred to back on windows phone 8.1, i agree it depends on person to person, i'm sharing my experiences, as i told i'm not a big fan of graphical changes if i'm not getting performance. specially on my lumia 830 things which disappointed me in every update.... 1- starting with PIN unlocking. it never ask ur old pin while removing ur PIN password, means anybody can remove PIN, i cant compromise security in the name of graphics. 2- photos- it still take a while to upload knew photos, and refreshing lag. 3- they removed FM radio, donno why they took such a stupid action. 4- they removes social network integration from people hub. ( like facebook, tweeter) 5- still calendar and mail getting trouble to sync with dates. dates kept showning previous date everytime unless u restart ur phone or resize ur calendar and mail start screen tiles. 6- glance screen always takes a bit longer time to show for notification than normal time on glance. 7- Edge browser- still far behind even from internet explorer (windows phone 8.1), no way to compare with chrome or safari. very poor performance on browsing. 8- groove music live tile sync failure, and still no way to access ur music content from onedrive. 9- surround sound not working on video recording from camera. 10- cortana looks like showing web pages on white background card. and if we talk about os optimization its just long way to go for microsoft. i just hope microsoft not to quit from mobile support. i'm still on 8.1, my next os upgrade will be soon again after creator upadate where chances are very less for lumia 830 to get. or may be before on insider if not.

I am also using Lumia 830 with windows 10 mobile. For me it works fine. Try to upgrade. And no need to go to service centre for downgrading. You can do it yourself, Use windows device recovery tool on your PC to downgrade to WP8.1 if you have issues again Also if you are upgrading from 8.1, The first upgrade will deploy build 10586.219. From there it will update again to build 14393.953(Current Public build as on 28th March 2017). But trust me. I find the current windows 10 mobile way better than the stock OS. Hi Jacin. I had the same problem with some apps not working on the Lumia 830. I was able to solve it after almost two weeks of struggle. You need to download and install the Windows Device Recovery Tool on your computer, and after that connect your phone to the computer to properly install the 8.1 software in order to get it working perfectly including all the apps in OS8.1.

The people who don't haven't any problem with windows 10 mobile, i personally guaranty the don't use there mobile phone on its fully potential way.... They just make calls, text, email, wats app, nothing else... I I owned lumia 950, 830, 720... And in all I'm not satisfied as I was with windows phone 8.1 in terms of processing, smoothness app support etc... I'm not much fan of graphics if I'm not getting better processing... The things which bother me the most in windows 10 Mobile, very bad experience in browsing, and on some app functioning like fb, camera on video recording, podcast, still not happy with mail and calendar sync, o's, and many more... Apart from dis all... I'm big fan of Microsoft... Not bcz wat it is offering us today, but bcz wat it would be in future the kind of innovative things they are trying to implement...

I honestly dont know what you are on about man. My Lumia 735 has lower specs than Lumia 830, and its buttery smooth with all versions of Win 10. You gotta be crazy. In fact, I also own a Lumia 720 which I reverted back to 8.1 after trying win 10. That one sure sucks on win 10, unusable I would say. Point is that I trust MS, and they are right.

It's been a month with my lumia 830. I haven't upgraded it to win10, and I don't plan do that unless it is absolutely necessary. I think I got all the apps I need and want on my phone, and I didn't spend a dime. Pretty happy my wife got me this phone. I don't see why people complain about the lack of apps available. There are the essential apps and more on the store for free that works great without ads, and there's also myappfree too. Perhaps the only app I miss here is a good manual video and photo editor. The ones you can find are worse than the symbian editors. But then again, the camera is awesome, tinkering makes photos look worse. If you have chosen windows phone then you probably did it for a reason. It is simple, solid, and smooth, and very very reliable.

In my personal experience, the Nokia Lumia 830 just does not have the proper hardware to handle Windows 10 Mobile (Regardless of build/version). With Windows 10 Mobile installed on the 830, the phone becomes extremely laggy/slow and it is plagued with constant crashing of system critical functions. I'm not talking about like the Facebook App, I'm talking about actual System Apps/functions/whatever you want to call them. For example, the Phone App/Function began "freezing"/"locking-up" the OS mid-call, which would make you lose the call and then have to do a battery pull to just get the phone to restart. This was not related to "User Error", I have a lot of experience with/knowledge of Windows Mobile OS Devices/Platforms, so trust me when I say, it was solely related to the Hardware not being able to handle the OS - To clarify, the System Resources like the RAM/Processor/etc. could barely handle the load placed on them when just running the basic functions required for the W10 Mobile OS to run. The minute you started running an app that needed significant resources to run or attempted to use a system function, the 830 would start to literally crash and burn...God-forbid you have like 2 or 3 apps going at once...The phone would probably go all "Samsung Note" on your ass... You don't have to be Bill Gates to know that when supposed software/OS "patches" and updates do not resolve the problem, or in the case of this phone with Windows 10 Mobile on it, the "fixes" cause even more issues/crashes/etc, there is something else going on. Again, this is only one example of the multiple, multiple issues with what I consider "System Critical" that have continued to plague the 830 since the update to W10 Mobile. Long story short, I guess, the Lumia 830 is a great phone, until you update to W10 Mobile - which makes the 830 essentially so unstable that it almost becomes completely unusable. To drive the point home, I finally got fed-up with W10 and my 830, so I went out and purchased a Microsoft Lumia 950 (Don't buy the XL, trust me, the big screen isn't worth the headaches that the "liquid" cooling system can cause). The Lumia 950 is not as aesthetically pleasing as the 830 (or any of the Nokia Lumia's for that matter), and it also feels "cheap" because it is basically all plastic, but what a difference in terms of the phone/hardware actually being able to run/handle W10 Mobile. The phone isn't without it's little glitches here or there, but what Windows Operating System have you ever used that didn't do some weird shit every once and awhile??? Lol. However, for the most part, W10 Mobile OS, with the proper hardware (basically only the Lumia 950 at this point) is in my opinion the BEST mobile software out there - Everything is so seamless and it is simple, but fun to use if you want it to be, or you can dive deeper if that's what gets your rocks off. Since really getting used to W10 Mobile OS on the 950, I can't even stand to touch an Android or Apple device...God I hate all the clutter on those damn phone...Again, W10 Mobile is neat and organized and really user friendly, etc. Just don't put it on the 830. Stick with the 950, or if you don't want to spend the big bucks on it, get a refurbished 1520 Now if we could only figure out something to do about the app store and the conflicts with app developers.... Hopefully this info helps you out with your decision!

I'm on my second 830, first one broke due to an accident... Otherwise, was a no issue phone... Upgraded it to Windows 10 about 6 months while in Japan before the update was released in the US. I will say this much... My first one was a factory unlocked that was manufactured in Vietnam... That phone was phenomenal-never an issue. That's the one that I was referring to above... However, my second phone was an AT&T model made in China, that I unlocked thru the carrier and had to "back-door" the system to install Windows 10. The 'Made in China' POS is the one is experiencing many of the issues that many of you are mentioning... So some of the issues that are being mentioned may be a result of where it was manufactured, and being slightly different internally...

I should add this Lumia is A better phone than Moto G 2014. It's not just a better camera, it has better build quality, a better design with a metallic frame, it has a smaller footprint, wireless charging, a better calibrated display with much better picture quality, NFC and LTE (which is missing in you beloved G 2014). The fact that you just overlook these facts and then say they're equal or comparable just because they got the same SoC and RAM. I agree the initial price (400USD) was nuts, but right now I think the Lumia 830 is well worth the 300USD it's selling for. I used a 830 for approx one month. Absolute joy to use. The front camera takes better pictures than my s4 and my friends iPhone 6. The Moto g, original or current isn't in the same ballpark with exception of app availability. This the only area where wp is deficient. A lot of devices pass through my hands on a weekly basis: my daily driver is a GS5, lumia phones have really impressed me lately.

Screen blinking in windows 10 in lumia 830 occurs if your phone in battery saver. Turn off battery saver solves it. Mine too screen blinks a second some times in battery saver. So turning off it solve mine. Windows mobile 10 in lumia 830 is great. The quality of graphics display is clear. Satisfied with lumia 830 better camera than my S Note 3.

Great phone, the best I've owned. Buttons are prone to accidental operation, without a case the speaker volume is constantly changing. Since the biggest complaint I have about this phone is the pathetic vibrator, it can mean I don't hear or feel the phone ring in my shirt pocket ! Aftermarket cases are extremely limited, and very poor quality. Of course its not Nokia's fault that nobody makes cases for anything but Apples or Galaxy's.. The best solution is a silicon back/side cover that protects the phone a bit, but more importantly stops the buttons from being pressed. I wish I could disable the volume buttons and camera buttons via the OS.. Add a disable option for the volume and camera buttons to the OS, and soup the vibrator up by about 1000%, and it would be perfect for my purposes.

Dear all, I'm a fan of win phones (especially Nokia)for a time now. I loved my Lumia 620, and when I decided to replace it, bought the 830. Well, it's a good phone for daily use,but the battery could bear more, and win should do something withe web browsing finally because its simply not working properly. I tried the win 10, but have to say that I was glad to downgrade it back to 8.1 the win 10 might be fancy, but slow the phone down and still has some stability issues. The only thing I'm about to change this phone is the GPS. I bought this mainly cause they're is free mapping, but the GPS simply cannot going my location in most of the cases and it's really annoying. I need a phone with proper GPS. Had anybody has issues like this?

there is no problem. just you don't know how to use it. update to windows 10. there are so many browsers you can use. microsoft edge, coc coc, shiye browser, ucbrowser. you can save pictures in all of them easily. just save them on pictures folder in your sd card or pictures folder on your internal memory so it shows in gallery. other folders are not accessible by gallery.

I really recommend this. Im a huge lumia fan myself and I have this phone for 17 months now. There are some minor bugs like, sometimes it restarts itself (it's a common lumia thing).. but overall, its great! Camera ir perfect and it's still working fast! I was thinking about a new phone recently but didn't see anything good enough (930 is also good tho) I think I will have to wait a long time till microsoft will produce something so good at this price range.

I'm running 10 on my 830 and 8.1 on my 640. While I'm not having any particular issues with 10, I'm not yet convinced that it's such a great advance over 8.1 as a phone OS for daily use. Will probably keep the 640 on 8.1 for the foreseeable future.

Good point re Android performance. Had a Galaxy Note 2 for a couple of years. Never mind the wretched bloatware, which WP doesn't suffer from, and which is difficult to get rid of, the performance gradually slowed down over time. Haven't had the same issues with the 830 or 640. Main reason I sold the Note, though, was that I couldn't store my Spotify offline tracks on the card, only on the phone's own memory. No such problems with the Windows phones. WP is a brilliant OS; what a shame the world and its dog are so obsessed with apps - message to Android and IOS users/lovers: get a life!

Hi Ned, I've owned an 830 for about 18 months now. Great phone and I also don't care about the lack of apps - WP has enough "sensible" apps for everyday use. The removable battery and micro sd card are far more worthwhile. Mine is running the Windows 10 insider preview with no issues. These days, though, I use a 640 as my daily driver, mainly because I have a dual sim version, which sadly wasn't available with the 830, and I have need of two sim slots. Camera on the 830 is better than the 640 (which isn't shabby) and of course you get 16Gb internal storage vs 8GB. But at least with WP you can store virtually everything on the card. Bottom line, Ned, I don't think you'll regret buying an 830.

When i originally wanted this phone it was Expensive and so were its accessories so i waited a while and decided to take the plunge and bought a sim free model brand new from Game it came packed with windows 8.1 then upgraded to windows 10 each time it upgraded it got better and better battery life is excellent and i love the design of this phone with the all metal frame and i switched from an iphone this phone is excellent for my needs with all my music and Brilliant camera storing photos on my 128GB storage card i love this phone so much i bought 2 qi chargers a case and a spare battery because the price had dropped from Expensive too very reasonable , i have this phone for Excactley one year and its never let me down, to sum it up its light , fits well in the hand and the phone is brilliant so far so good and i manage too get nearley two days battery life, In all fairness its Nokia Quality and i love mine and wont change it for Anything. I Just does everything i need o and call quality is excellent. Bargain Phone and so much better than Microsft new range of phones.

I love mine. Had it nearly a year and a half. It is tough (dropped it on hardwood a dozen or more times), battery is great (I rarely see it go below 50% even at heavy daily use), Qi charging is great, put a 32GB SD card for memory, and it is fine. Upgrades to Win10 without issues. Prices are down to $200 US ($250 Cdn.) If I had to buy one today... I'd likely look at something with a 1080p display for a few hundred more.

I own a Lumia 830 and i have to say this is another Dud Model, after the Lumia 520s power button issues this one suffers Corrosion on the side and dead pixels in the screen, i sent it back for repair and its happening the second time round. I recommend avoid this model even if you like the windows platform.

Switched today to Samsung Galaxy S7 because microphone died on my Lumia 830. I must say Windows 10 Mobile is much better than Android. WP10 looks much more professional. Only issue is lack of applications. In every other aspect Windows 10 Mobile is much better to use. Hard to explain but Android looks like it is made for kids. I already miss my Lumia 830. I have windows 10 and I cannot read my email attachments. When I try to open them it seems that it not recognise what type they are and ask me to go to store to find a programme that open it. The strange thing is that if I try to forward them, then the attachments are recognised. Also in many cases, even if the attachment is only one file, it appears to have two files attached. This is very annoying, because I use the phone for my job and after the upgrade to windows phone 10 it is very difficult to manage my emails. I try soft reset, as I find it as a recommendation for the problem, but it didn't help. I would appreciate any ideas on this strange behaviour. Thanks.

I am using this phone from last one year and i never experienced any problem with it. The rear camera is best in its quality with multi modes. Also the video quality is good with hd quality. Another best part of this phone is sound quality. Application works best and touch sensitivity is very good in this phone as compared with other phone. As every phone has something lag, this phone also have something lagging but not like other phones and I am happy to use this phone and will suggest others too.

I bought it a year and a half ago. Hardware is solid. performance is smooth and resolution feels even better than 720p. Camera's superior and I'm in love with the design. That being said... Whatever problems i faced after installing win 10 are rectified now by doing hard reset. Please do like this...switchoff the phone, press volume key down hold it..press power button once and hold the volume down key till you see a question mark on screen. then immediately do volume up, volume down, power button press. It starts the reset process, when it ask to transfer data from your old ID or start afresh, then select start afresh..you are done. No issues of anykind after this including camera app. new camera app is good that the old one which was meant for 8.1

After reading all the problems users are having after updating to WM 10, I have decided to listen to my local Nokia service agent who suggested to wait till ALL bugs and other hick ups have been fixed before updating. I'm perfectly happy with WM 8.1 and Denim and a battery life of a day and a half with reasonably heavy use.

The battery lasts on my L830 for a day under above average usage (3g internet always on), with still 20-30% remaining late in the evening. After the update I have noticed quicker battery drain, especially when browsing the web through wifi. I have been using this battery since last August, so it is still relatively new.

Anyone else notice that after upgrade to windows 10 from 8.1 that the camera quality goes down ? ..my camera would take amazing crisp , clear photos now after upgrade it's like my camera went from 10megapixel to 2 megapixel.. I'm sick and tired of these windows phones..they seem so far behind other phones..The internet browsing on these phones have been a nightmare for me ..will sell it and never buy again . Hello, The camera/photo quality is the same like in the 8.1. version. Only the app looks a bit newer/fancier. Battery performance is also the same, no more use like written in opinions of other Lumia's.

The file size should be appr. 1,8 Gb.I read on the internet. I saw not much change in my memory left on my phone. Before the upgrade there was 8,5 Gb free space, after 7,5 free.

No reset is needed. Like I said, it took me 2 hrs. to download and install. After that the next day, came an update which cost 1 hour. Make a backup. I just saw that my Music app is totally unreadable. So if you put your music (if you have it) on a backup. Also the new navigation app Windows maps is not accurate, because Here maps is not to be used after June '16, you need a good replace. Good luck upgrading.

I upgraded my Lumia 830, it took me 2 hrs. to download and install the whole upgrade. Next day 1 hr. for the first update. W10 Mobile looks very good, so far no bugs at all. Photo's are now very easy per date installed. It looks at all like a new phone. Mail has a totally new look, navigation is windows maps now which replaces Here maps from june 2016.Contacts app is totally renewed. Every time I open an app after the upgrade for the first time I'm totally surprised. Good luck with your upgrade !!

bought lumia 830 because its upgradable to windows 10 and its price is low now compare when it lunch. I like the design and quality, specially the rear camera it beats 13 megapixel camera of other brands. Thanks MS for this CP. Its microsoft mobile inside with sticker brand and MS mobile OS logo in EXTRA&INFO. But still using nokia name. The App gap is nothing to me. Because i dont have google related accounts, stop playing games in Mobile phones and coming back to PC gaming is the best. I use Web Apps from windows from its browser. And always using browser instead of Apps.

I have been using the phone for a year now. CONS: -Of course, limited apps. And the available apps are mediocre compared to the android/iOS versions. It's really sad. -Not really good battery life. But it's okay. With average use of camera, apps, music, call, messaging etc, it still last a day, like when I woke up in the morning until I woke up the other day. -too much use of apps heats up the phone on the upper left portion. I think its where the antenna is placed. -not so good front camera, yes, coz it 0.9mp only LOL -main camera has a good quality but the photos loses its color after capture. It like when ur still aiming for a shot, the colors are good, but when u hit capture, the image becomes a lil pale. -I have trouble connecting to other wifi like in my friends house. -Again, THE LIMITED AND MEDIOCRE APPS! LOL PROS: -I can't count how many times I dropped it but its still alive with no issues after dropping. The sides has a lot of scratches from dropping it but nothing on the screen. LOL! I'm a really reckless person.

The Nokia phone I have (1) turns on all by itself when charging even though I switche dit off.(2) it is not user friendly at all I just want to copy my CONTACT list onto the MEMORY CARD and can never find any help anywhare not at ROGERS and at the MICROSOFT store they tell me the CONCTACT list exists in "cyberspace " on Window server not on my actual phone!!!(3) There are no USER MANUALS you have to got to the INTERNET.

The lags I haven't had, only once with Skype,I had to take the battery out and restarted it. After this no lag at all. Battery apps are enough in the store. I use the one "batterij" from Arthur Semenov. Is very good ! Camera is great for pictures, for video I have had some frame drops, still it isn't clear if it is a sd-card problem or hardware from the phone. I use the phone since January 2015. Hi, I am using this phone from a while and have realized that gmail does not function properly. You cannot view emails in 'thrash'. Is anyone else facing this problem. Even LinkedIn app does not let you view all connections (3rd level and maybe even 1st level). Overall the phone is good but basic apps like these and whatsapp are not userfriednly. I agree with you, Lumia is surprisingly slow when it comes to software, remember how long it took them to have whatsapp call, long after android. Most softwares that work on android and other platforms dont work on Lumia. i bought a fancy selfie stick for €25 and guess what, it dosnt work on Lumia 830. Trying to import contacts from lumia 830 to Nokia C3 is not working for me. I find lumia 830 generally very unuser friendly when it comes to accessing folders for documents, music videos etc. It is find it better to have a gallary menu whre you can the browse the rest o everything. have been using nokia all my business life but I am losing interest each day

I bought a lumia 830 in April this year in Paris, a few months down the line the mouth piece stopped working. i only hear callers if i put the phone on loud or earphones. I got a technician who looked into it over a week. He told me the phone operates on 3 different mics which are all working well. So what could be the problem? I feel like I flushed my money into the toilet by buying this phone. I have been using Nokia all my life and moved over to lumias. having moved from a lumia 920 with a better flashlight, internal memory etc, i really feel like this is a serious flawed downgrade i did.

Awesome Camera - Takes amazing pictures, in true natural colours, no over or under exposure doesn't beautify images. looks as much natural. Sharp, detailed images taken is good to be compared to a DSLR. Thanks to "Pureview imaging and 6 element lens , Lumia Camera App". I am able to compete with my cousin who owns a DSLR.Low light shots are great. Battery - Its a year old still getting minimum of 18 hrs of backup and an average of around 20 hrs. Audio - Quality is very good. Thanks to clever position of speaker. Selfie - Not a Selfie centric phone but Lumia Selfie app serves the purpose using rear camera for Selfies. Video - Have taken awesome 1080p Videos with Dolby Digital Surround Capture in daylight and even on full zoom produces great frames with good detailing. Design: One of the gorgeous designs from NOKIA. I feel colleagues at my office going jealous. I own a Black 830. Display: IPS LCD display makes perfect viewing angles. Thanks to Colour Profile customization which makes it vivid as an AMOLED display. Also LCD one saves on battery as my friend owning a 730 with a smaller screen and almost(20 mah more) same battery claims considerably less battery life than mine. I am fed up with not being able to copy contacts in my NOKIA 830 Windows phone. Every time I try to copy /back up my contact list i need to use this "app " or sign in to some "account".The makers were too cheap to to have a simple paper instruction manual like they use to have with NOKIA phones.Start having user guide books that explain how to do EVERYTHING on your phone or STOP making these phones.

i love my lumia 830. it works great i love the camera on it and having your pictures and music automatically saved to my computer is great. ive dropped it many times with no consequences to the screen (a couple scratches on the aluminum edges). my only cmplaint is the lack of available phone cases but i don't think one is needed. its tough and reliable and i would take it over an Iphone any day

I bought a brand new 830, after 1 week without even using it a crack appeared, the smoothest crack i have ever seen, i didnt drop it. Now yesterday i dropped it from 1 meter flat on the back and it looked fine, after two minutes it almost caught on fire. the screen turned black like ink spreading, i touched the screen and it felt so hot, you could bake an egg on it. pulled the battery out and tried to plug it in, but the phone turns red hot within a minute of being connected to the computer. Sounds very save, if i left it inside after it dropped it would have burned my house down.

Hi All, If somebody is not sure if the phone is good...It IS. Perfect in all situations except the fact that the wats up and the viber apps is not showing their notifications from time to time, but once you restart the phone its all back to normal. The camera is much better than all Samsung and HTC phones I have had before (Last one HTC One M8). The apps are running lets say not really fast, but smooth enough not to make you angry. Very good choice for the price. Enjoy! :-)

I have this phone since April and the camera, oh the camera is one of the best i've ever had, compared with a Galaxy S6, it obviously takes more defined photos because of the more megapixels, but the white balance, the contrast and light is way better on the Lumia, on the other hand S6 takes better the colors (a bit overexposed) but the images look more alive. Compared with Iphone 6, it wins in every way except opturation speed and that iphone 6 has slow-mo video which is a very nice feature. DON'T UPDATE TO WINDOWS 10 BETA. I've done this with a china rom (bought it from Amazon) and it only gave me problems. Apps constantly crashing, even the start menu and lock screen crash. More slow in every way, from opening apps to turn on and off, or even unlocking the phone. Just wait till official windows 10 come out, because the beta for China sucks.

Right On!!!! USELESS PHONE! This phone does not keep up with technology and ATT does not care. Within 1 year, 17 applications I used regularly, NO LONGER are compatible with the phone. Called Steven in "ATT's highest customer service dept" in Ohio who said "nothing we can do about it". Therefore I have to pay the "lease" off at $315 for a useless phone in order to purchase an Android or Apple who DOES keep up with technology OR just live with not using any Applications! Really? Map Quest doesn't even work on this phone any longer!

L830 is a useless phone. It has one of the gorgeous look handset i have ever seen but nothing else. Camera is average.i cant see any major difference between l830 & l730. Sometimes i feel l730 camera can beat l830 with its superb retina like display & only 6.7mp camera. Best thing of l830 is its classy look & 16gb inbuilt memory.

Apps run smoothly & multi-tasking is good , but games like Asphalt are not recommended for this phone . Front camera is bad as having 0.9MP due to rear camera 10 MP which is good at this price .

Yes 100%, coz i'm using Airtel 4G, it shows 4G and speed is 10Mbps+. Enquired why it is low in chennai when i get 20mbps+ in bangalore, Airtel exec told me that it is a soft launch in chennai. You need to have latest update Microsoft which will enable 4G. Happiest owner of Lumia 830.

Today, I've received the lumia 830 from my canadian carier... Pros: The phone look nice 8.5 on 10. it is small , thin and amazingly heavy. We screen is eye friendly. The cons: Windows 8.0 It's take more than 1 hour 30 min to do the updates cause it come with windows 8.0 on it. The ergonomie is bad(3 on 10); there no way to operate it with one hand and my thumb. I have to figur where to put mymy finger(maybe it is a lefty design?)most of the time my major is right on camera spot. The power button is to close from the volumeand far from a useless camera button. The frame is slippery. the is no question that I will need to havea gummy sheild case. For resuming hard to operate, easy to drop it, looks easy breakeable. The processor is less powerfull to run windows 8.1 than was the S4 kraft dual core 1.5ghz... the gain is seems to only on the battery life. Not amazing but better. Also we regret the impossibility to choose to have less tile on the home screen. Lihe having two rows of tiles instead of three like now. Before that day I was using a HTC 8x c625a 8GB version.with an s4 cpu and 1800 a/h battery and the battery was the only major con of this phone really. The lake of lte 2600mhz wasn't really matter. The band 4 (1700-2100 mhz frequencies) was doing a good job. But the tiny ROM (only 8 gig available on my version),and the lake of microSD port, make this device a non upgradable to Win 10. Ergonomy of the 8x is 9 on 10.size ratio 9.5 on ten, Cpu power 9 on 10. Camera was the best to use in normal world. if you except lumia 1020, 1520, Lumia 929 and 930. My recommandation; buy a lumia 930, or a Lumia 640 lte, 640 XL lte or a htc 8x c625a 16GB avoid the rest!

First time i encountered a wifi issue. Then i did the hard reset and the problem got resolved. I visited few stores to buy a screen guard and a cover for the phone and to my surprise the phone is no more selling in stores and model is closed and no proper covers are available in stores, hence ordered one online. It is really surprising for me that the way Nokia projected this phone and withdrawn the model less than one year which looked very odd to me. This one thing made me to rethink to consider any microsoft phone in future for sure.

I've had my Lumia 830 RM 985 for two months now, and true to form the main camera has stopped working. Only the front facing one works. The flash doesn't work either. These symptoms I've seen reported about this model handset all over the internet in about the same time frame. I've had 4 windows phones for the last year and a half. Lumia 520,Lumia 820 and now Lumia 830. The first two models stopped working within days to months of purchase and for absolutely no apparent reason. My Lumia 830's camera stopped working yesterday.. Again for no apparent reason. It should be noted that all three of these handsets wet brand new devices. I'm quickly losing faith in the Lumia brand and beginning to think that the quality control measures are just not there for these devices. Oh !! these many issues. I agree with certain things with you yes Windows OS still not looks like a professional one, but fluidity is good as if you see many of android phones lag many times. In my case i seems to be lucky that i didn't faced any issues including camera and I can rate that camera is one of the best and its a specific reason to choose this mobile. I took some wonderful shots with this and for day to day business use, this is just worth for me. Yes I cannot call it as a flagship but looking forward to see the microsoft surface phone..looks quite interesting to me with specs and looks wise

Hi Louie, No i had used it with the pre-installed windows 8.1 gdr1. And got this camera issue. And i had searched microsoft support forums for getting help to resolve the issue.And came to know that some phones got this issue and it cannot be resolved with recovery tool by ourselves and the only solution is giving it to Nokia care. For some users they have flashed the firmware from Nokia care and got it resolved. Upon this knowledge i had visited a nokia care and to be frank this is the worst thing coz i had almost wasted 4 hours there. But the end result was really annoying , they told firmware flashing doesn't solve the problem and it needs the camera module to be replaced and which will take another 14 working days. And also since i bought the device from abroad i cannot claim the free service warranty in India. so to will cost me 180$ to get it repaired. Then after contacting many users with same issue i came to know that this some common problem with L830 and they discontinued the model. For some people even after changing the camera module the new official gdr2 update made the camera to crash. That's why i thought to send the device back to Dubai and get rid of this mess. I was an Android user for past years and this was the first WP experience and got the worst. Frankly speaking WP still not feeling complete. 1.No good email client (gmail user), cannot attach the file like gmail app in android. Its really half baked . 3.Official applications are good for nothing.i think they released just for the sake of.... 2.Worst music player. 3.Browsing is worse in most sites. 4.No application lock facility is available like in android. 5. That time there was no Wifi sender like XENDER( But now i think they released for WP) 6.Don't have a good file manger...etc.etc.... Like wise many useful and good features are not there in Windows it still feels like a beta OS to me. Good things are Live tiles are okay.(Not wonderful like what others reviewed) only good applications are mytube,tubecast and Rudy's apps (6tag, etc...) 1.Camera ( in my case that too failed ) 2.no lag only because of good transition effect. 3.No heating issues on daily usage but phone will get red hot upon connected to a wall charger. 4.Wireless charging, swap-able backcover and mmc support. In my case am waiting for the next windows flagship to see anything really got changed or still they are giving only high hopes to customers without any good thing. if its the same then i am going for iphone 6 plus s or note 5. No hard feelings to WP fans , This is what i felt upon using wp for several months.

I dont know about the listings in Airtel Site. When after an update from Microsoft it showed 4G. I just ordered a 4G SIM online and they delivered free of cost to my home, followed the steps to activate 4G and it got activated within 15mis. Now it shows 4G network. But Battery drains off by 6 hours when in 4G mode.

Does the Microsoft windows camera on this device offers the "tap anywhere on the screen to capture a picture"? I am not sure if you guys understand what i mean. I had a Lumia 822/ Denim, WP OS 8.1 which the microsoft camera allowed me to open the camera app and tap the screen and the picture was taken. Mine also popped the 'SOMETHING WENT WRONG' error message out of nowhere when trying to use the camera. I don' t record doing anything unusual, I'll just adress the service. Hopefully I won't have to go through the install and configure everything from scratch. The problem with camera of Lumia 830 is not related to Firmware or OS, it's a hardware issue. I flashed my phone with old Firmware i.e, which I got first with the phone. It has got Nokia camera than Lumia camera. With that Firmware and OS also camera didn't work.

Lumia 830 has this main camera problem which shows something went wrong and neither any of the resets-soft/hard or even flashing the firmware using navifirm versions will help resolve this issue. This has something to do with the hardware or probably a faulty main camera module. in real world performence windows is better than android! it is lag free! im using nokia lumia 830 and it is great! you never need a ton of aap! as well as we use 40-50 apps in genaral! you get them easily from wstore. i was really shoked when i saw xperia z3 lolipop v5.1 using 67% of ram whether l830 using 48% of ram! for a daily driver windows phone are better! battery performence, touch wz are great! for an android phone you must use antivirus and clean app but windows don't need! windows is super optimised! lag free! go for lumia! go for windows!

Try both in the stores, basically ur just choosing between an android or windows phone. U will only b disappointed with 830 on the quantity and even the quality of apps but windows phones never lags and really fast. Get the g3 if u prefer android after trying both systems

Same camera thing happened to me past few months and i have mailed Microsoft support team many times and the worst part is they don't bother to acknowledge the mail. The only thing i got is a reference or ticket id which no one addressed till now. I had pinged them more than 10 times and nothing in return. Very pathetic service centers and customer support from Microsoft team. Anyways am very much happy with my seller SOUQ.UAE who refunded my whole money. Thanks to SOUQ team who refunded the money and i appreciate there wonderful customer support team. Now feeling very glad that i chose Souq for the purchase. I've bought the two devices. the 830 for me and the 735 for my doughter. both are very good devices with some diferences. If you are fun of selfies, the 735 is better. The 735 has a amoled display, but both devices have good visibility under sun light. if you are fun of photography, the 830 has one of the best main cameras on the market (optical stabilization), and believe me, it works very, very well, under all type of light. To finish my opinion I'll have to say that the Lumia 830 is well building (metal body), better than the 735, but the 735 has a good construction as but with premium plastic. Both device battery last at least 2 days in a normal use. With heavy duty both battery last a day. The 830 have a little bit advantage in this particular matter. Well two very good devices... but I'm fun of Windows Phone (more fluid than Android and less resources eater).

I've been using this phone for a few months now and it's easily the best phone I've ever used. It has a few minor issues: there's a small light leak under the capacitive buttons for me, the edges of the glass can pick up tiny scratches pretty easy that can only be seen when light reflects off of them, and AT&T is dragging their feet big time with the full Denim update, but overall it's a great Windows Phone.

I am using this phone from past 7 months and i haven't noticed a single problem as you mentioned in your post. I am not a nokia/lumia fan at all. There must be some issue with the instrument you are using for sure. Its awesome to take pics from this phone, battery back up is very good and optimised OS and user friendly. This is my second Lumia device after the lumia 800. I have used the device for the past 3 months and here is my advice - DO NOT BUY IT at whatever price you get at whichever shop. This is a horrible device and this is coming from an ardent Lumia and Nokia fan. I have used Lumia 800 for 3 years and always used Nokia phones since time immemorial, have suggested lumia to almost all my friends and family members and in fact forced some people to buy it. The Lumia 800 was an excellent device with its own software limitations however this Lumia 830 is a truly disgusting device. The amount of call drops I faced during the first 2 weels of usage over various networks in various cities is outrageous. On top of call drops the phone is truly dumb, i wonder why Nokia even dares call their Lumia phones smartphones. The internet on this device has a mind of its own, it works sometimes and it doesnt upon its own wish. I am embarrassed in front of my friends when a simple google search takes ages to fetch results while my phone shows its on 3G. Its equally disturbing to see that once smooth windows phone interface is no longer smooth and swift but has lags and is awfully jittery. I showed the phone to the idiots at the Nokia care, all they did was format my phone and removed all the data stating it is probably a software issue. Call drop and internet issues kept on bugging me and on the second visit the customer care guys changed some component inside which finally made the calls marginally better. Dis-functional parts on a brand new phone, Kudos Nokia. And now the device refuses to connect to internet when I need, despite being on 3G and Wifi, I cannot use internet. My alcatel phone which costed Rs 3000 has faster internet that the Lumia 830. I filed complaints after complains through various channels to Nokia to replace my handset and not once have they even assured to take action. Its been 2 weeks they have kept my device under 'observation' and I got a disturbing call 2 days back from the customer care that they are reviewing the device and will take 10 more days to revert with a solution. Upon threatening to sue them they were quite indifferent and the senior guy on the other side of the phone told me I am free to do whatever but they will not replace my handset. Wow! I have tweeted to Lumia about 5 times so far and they have not even acknowledged my cry for help. A brand that has no reputation in the market and no trust from buyers, I wonder how they are taking their rare breed of customers for granted. Truly pathetic phone and an even horrible bunch of people running the company with no care for their customers. My humble request, please dont buy a lumia device, there are no apps truly to make your experience good and on top the devices come with no quality control.

Those video file u received via Bluetooth may b .flv or .mkv.. Windows video player can't play these video formats .. So they won't show in the saved picture folder in photo hub.. Files shared via Bluetooth are saved in this saved pic folder . So better u install any other media player app like moliplayer,vlc player etc to view this video in photo hub n u can play this in those player.. Am using moliplayer .. It's really good. Also use file manager app to view all types of files and to manage(copy/move/paste/rename) ur files...

I used this phone the last 2 months and I don't have any problems. It's a great phone - it has good battery life (1 day heavy use, 2 days normal use and 7 days light use). Great low light photo's but not good zoom, front camera is average. Touch sensitivity on touch button's aren't very responsive, but not bad. Windows phone OS isn't bad, but it short a few things. Personally, there isn't a shortage of app's. I like this phone and I would recommend it.

Hi Not sure if this is regarding something batch wise. Because i got inquiries from other users who got camera problems requesting for any workarounds. So i doubt this is regarding some design issues or something. Please wait for the newer model because in many countries they have stopped L830 . Sadly am using my L830 without main camera. Because of the Lack of support and very high repair cost. Camera repair will cost u 172$ and even worst is it will take some 1 month time to get the device serviced.

Go for it . its a very beautiful and awesome device. But please buy with country warranty since many of us where facing camera issues and since i am not under country warranty i need to pay them a good amount to get the device serviced (changing camera unit). PROS- wireless charging,excellent battery backup, removable/changeable back door , memory card and Splendid camera .It will take real OSM pictures. NFC,LTE,... CONS- Poor front cam , slightly weak onscreen haptic touch feedback, sometimes speaker may distort at full volume, headphones with higher impedance value wont work. Doesn't have a good email client like gmail and universal sharing app like (xender). rest every other useful applications are there , very stable and fluid OS.

Stat away from Lumia 830!! The sound goes off for days, meaning that you can use the phone but ALL OTHER SOUNDS disappear! Then, after 4-6 days, the sounds usually return (after you've missed many calls because you couldn't hear them).

But i have given my phone to service center yesterday and they didn't rectified the problem and told me to wait for 2 weeks for them to check the hardware issue and all. I have 820 and had the same problem with storing files. Some apps didn't show all of them like Xbox music or Xbox video. Download moly player(I'm not sure with the dictation) It showed all of my movies and also music.

Hi Friends. I was using Lumia 830 for the past 3months and suddenly got a problem with camera. The main camera wont work and gets an error message as " Something went wrong" I have searched many Microsoft forums to get a solution but didn't get any sufficient information. And inside Microsoft support forum they are not providing any proper replies. From there from one of the same defected person replied me to take the phone to Nokia Care and thus i went there (India, Kerala , TVM). But since there are people with less knowledge simply reset the phone and told me that it might have a camera sensor fault. But i found that many devices had got this camera error around the globe and getting rectified with a firmware flashing since it is Microsoft issue with a buggy firmware for some of the devices. Now the Nokia care told me that they need to check the device for 2 weeks time and will let me know the issue.Also they have added that they don't have service for this Lumia 830 device. sadly my phone i had bought from Dubai. so i am not under warranty too. I am frustrated my last device was Huawei and it got a good service center that have people with good technical skills coz when i was encountered with some hardware issue they resolved it for me very professionally. Many of friends and colleagues stopped me from buying windows or Lumia but my love for Nokia didn't stopped from getting one . But now am regretting with there lack of support and problems. But Lumia 830 is a very beautiful device by all means. I loved my phone and i don't know whether i can get it back as working. And i don't have the option to send it back to Dubai for a repair so am totally sucked up with Microsoft when they traded buggy firmwares for some first batch phones and doesn't provide any better resolution via Nokia care or by any other means.

Lumia 830 is way much better. If you are a gamer I don't recommend you to buy the 930 cause it has poor battery life and also it heats very much even for doing nothing. Although you lose some great features like better camera and better screen,you'll get a lighter thinner phone with micro SD capability and a removable battery. Besides the choice is yours.:)

Have u entered your Microsoft account in your new phone? Cause if u don't do that you won't have access to the store.you can add account in settings => emails +accounts=>add account => Microsoft account. But if u have entered your account and still have problems with downloading games you should go to www.windowsphone.com and download your games via computer and after that you should transfer the apk file to your phone. At the end go to the store and press the install local apps and install your games. I'm afraid you won't have your saved progress of the games in your new phone.

I had Nokia Lumia 925 but it needs repair. Memory is a problem on Lumia 925. 16GB is not much if you download off-line here maps, music etc. Camera is very good and phone has great design. Now I have Lumia 830 and I am quit happz with it. Battery is user friendly (old school), camera is superb, and you can expand memory with memory card. Battery life is big problem in all Nokia Lumia devices except 1320 & 625 model. The phone costing 25000-35000 thousand but battery life is 7-8 hours only when you use data normal way for 1 hour and some calls.

You should buy Lumia 720 as it is only one phone which has good battery backup. Does not gets heated. Nokia Lumia 925 gets heated like hot plate in normal use also. And 830 is good phone but it's a problem occurring device, faulty device, that's why got discontinued.

I have been using my L830 for 3 months now and I felt completely satisfied until problems occured: 1. The battery life drains too fast. It even drains battery even if its on standby the entire day about 50%. It also wont survive a full day of usage from 8:00am (100%) to 6:00pm (10% below) with normal usage. I think the battery itself is not manufacturded well (for my phone only) since I disabled background apps and stuff to save battery. 2. Too much pressing in touch screen leaves a permanent blue faded mark (in my case) which is quite annoying to see -_- 3. Can't update my phone using computer. Only through wifi (a big disappointment since I dont have wifi but have unlimited data). The other problems can be manageable.

Two of the most basic things that windows phoned failed to provide are no good full feautred email client like gmail and no good application locker . most of the applocker in windows store can only lock the app in live tile. but one can easily swipe left and open the app from list . another issue is file sharing. Its no way near to android regarding the file sharing capability like u cant share a song via Bluetooth from music player and its a time consuming procedure to share a file in WP. also no good wifi sharing application is there. So better understand these limitations and chose the phone. because i was also an android user and migrated to WP Lumia 830 apart from the above disabilities i am really enjoying the phone. but still the above stated features are must have for a smartphone

Please don't comment otherwise if you never used the phone. Yes true it doesn't support 4k video but 4k is not so common between the users. if you don't have any issues to raise your budget then 830 is the best mobile for you. Both are nice phones L730 got AMOLED display and L830 got a good IPS Display with good viewing angles and better contrast ratio. If you love led display and prefer a good front camera and a compact budget then go for L730. It also got a dual sim model. L830 is only single sim LTE version. If you love to have a premium build phone with excellent pureview back camera with OIS and all top end features like glance screen, 5.1 dts video recording and wireless charging capability then go for L830. So the extra price will be worth only if you are a camera lover else go with L730. SOC of the both the phones remain same. so you will find similar performance on both the devices. except in camera department and build quality. Go For it man. Very good phone . No issues on the capacitive touch keys with latest update . If you are going for the global GSM (LTE) version . Then you will get the latest firmware update with Lumia camera 5 with every features except 4k video recording (which is hardware dependant so only to 930 and lumia 1520). Rest you will get everything. Very good screen and battery backup ,will get 1.5 days of moderate to heavy usage. Phones camera portion will get warm upon charging (Which is kinda a normal to these series i guess. So no worries) Better than Lumia 930 in terms of 1. Glance screen 2.MMC support upto 128GB (u can install almost every application on memory card. Also the camera samples will have 2-3mb picture size. Hi Prakash are you facing any heating issue while the phone charges via wall charger . My phone is getting a little warmer when it is plugged to charging. When i discussed with Microsoft support they asked to do a factory reset. l640xl has 13mp camera but ihe 10mp camera of l830 can easily beat the 13mp camera of l640xl. the internal memory of l830 is 16gb instead of 8gb. l640xl has lower ppi than l830. But in battery department l640xl can beat easily l830. its a major weakness of l830.

Hey there buddy. FFC is average, nothing extra ordinary. Though for video calling e.g. skype etc. will do a good job. Simply it's quality is simply for average video calling. If you will do a selfie post you can use its rear/main camera using the Lumia Selfie app. Just follow the easy instruction on how to use it. Hope gave you a clear idea about your question. lumia 930 is now available for 28k(initially 40k).. When lumia 830 was launched in India the price was 28k. It is just 4-5 months old. Now it is selling for 20k. But it was overpriced initially. Now it is priced correctly.. The price will still go down.. feeling sad for those who bought it when it was launched.. Microsoft should price its phones correctly.. Otherwise samsung's A & E series, Motorola will steal budget series. however lumia high end phones are not making sound.

I myself have been using L820 for a year and I have worked with almost all of the windowsphones from 520 to 1520 and I know there is not much difference in speed and they never have lags whatsoever... I have been using and enjoying this device for exactly one month and one day since i purchased it (January 16) and it never fails to impress me. Absolutely no issues (hang/lag, restart, heating issues, etc.) Butter-smooth OS. Great display, great battery (up to two days of moderate usage. Would last a day even if a play games while connected to a wifi); sleek, gorgeous and solid phone design, great camera. Great phone experience! Forget about the apps gap as the main issue for every app that i need are in the stores. The only apps that are missing are the local apps in particular country (e.g. bank apps, etc.) My only minor gripes is that (1) MixRadio won't work but it is because it is not supported in my country (Philippines), and (2) As i said, this is a sleek one device. It may prone to slip on your hand so i recommend to buy a protective casing prevent damage (dents/scratches). A day before it reached one month of using it, i accidentally drop it. It slip on my hand and fell hard on the cemented ground. Aside from the small dent on the top left corner and lower right corner in the aluminum frame, everything's fine and functioning. Screen has no scratches or damage whatsoever. Really a tough one i think. But everytime i see those tiny dent it make my eyes sore tsk. Overall it is a good solid device that i could recommend to everyone. Just a little background, this is my first windows phone device. And after using a windows phone, i love the using it and i won't switch back to any OS platform. As Ramu stated, this is a future-proof windows phone device as it will be updated to Windows 10 you could enjoy using this for at least 2 years. Give it a try fellas. Go to any store selling it and i guarantee you that you will gonna like this.

As far as I can see now, I use the 830 now for one week, battery life is in in compare with the 820 great. Also the camera is a topper. Very clear pics and the Lumia camera app opens quick after the update. Filming is also very clear. The apps in the store are enough obtainable. The tiles have now, after the update, the posibility to share 6 little tiles. Very handy !! So, love this Lumia, also the last Nokia !!

I have used both the galaxy s5 and the lumia 830. I would recommend the Lumia 830. They both have the same ability to expand memory, removable battery. Touchwiz was to laggy for me. Even thou the Lumia has a much smaller processor , it seems to be faster in day to day use. The camera on both phones are outstanding. People always complain about the amount of apps on windows phone but it has all the apps i use. If you are into gaming then you should definitely get the Galaxy S5 .The Lumia 830 isn't great when it comes to playing games. If price is an issue then obviously the Lumia is the way to go. It's about 300 dollars less then the Galaxy S5.

For not too much more money you can have a Lumia 930 with a better screen and camera and better hardware. I'd go for the 930.

If you want a better camera with a better quality of the screen and also a better CPU you can go for the L930 but it has a disadvantage which is the battery. The capacity of 2420 is not enough for this phone and you're gonna have to charge it every day. But if u want a thinner,lighter phone with capability of using SD card up to 128 mb u can go for the 830. The battery capacity is lower than 930 but it can be used 2 days with a normal use. Don't hesitate go for 830!!!

1020 camera is the best but unfortunately it has older processor which has limitations when it comes to the Lumia Camera 5 app, so go for 830

Lumia 830 is one of the best device from nokia and its a last device too frm nokia. So pls go fr it. Who knows whether the Microsoft give a better build quality like nokia. And most of the phones frm every company discontinues aftr a limited period. Microsoft announced tat there is going to be a basic handsets till sep 2015. So lumia 830 is going to be better affordable flagship right??? So dnt hesitate , just go for it.

have had lumia 830 for a month or so and has been very good but i have had few issues. 1- the hill climb game- the frame rate seem slow, was much better on my lumia 530. 2- the *back* button does not always work. sometimes it takes going back to homescreen and then trying BACK button to close/return to apps/settings. 3- lumia denim camera is not preinstalled,update required. 4- the update to denim camera 5 is slow to be released ,even if your on the preview for developers.

Hyderabad. Don't go to Nokia they never sell it for less, bought it from Sangeeta. Front camera excellent !! used it for skype and also for selfie you have a dedicated app for the same

Well that's a good question! I had been asking myself the same question. Anyways it's up to you the major difference between both phones is the display, the Lumia 735 has an AMOLED display (just like the ones found in Samsung deviceswhich means that the colours are highly saturated and deeper blacks ) but with nokia's clear black(this feature helps in making the the screen more viewable in sun light) the lumia 830 on the other hand has an IPS display with its bwtter than AMOLED in day light but the colors are less saturated than the AMOLED and also the camera. And If it was me I would go for the the 830 cuz I just love IPS displays more than AMOLEDs anyways it is up to you buddy! :)

CAMERA STOPS WORK. NOKIA 830 (CONDITION: NEW) Yes, I had the same problem with my camera recently bought Nokia 830 and use moderate-intensive for 12 days. Suddenly the camera stops working. I did a test software and hardware with Nokia Care Suite - Product Support Tool For Store 5 in test mode and gave me FIVE hardware errors, all directly related to the camera and flash. Horrible, a new phone with these failures. I had to send for repair to Nokia Service. Turns out that I had the phone in use 12 days and repair has been 20. Thus has been longer in Nokia Service Spain than in my hands. A phone more than � 400...... Very Bad Experience, and this is mi 3rd Lumia.

@Zeyad yes exactly, if I had to choose between the 830 and the 930 I would go for the 830 cuz I just love IPS displays but when it comes to performance the 930 beats the 830 (you know better processor and GPU) but it's heavier P.S I like AMOLED displays but I just prefer the IPS to them that's all :)

It doesnt like to download from the LTE network sometimes, but does fine on WiFi. Give that a shot when performing updates or downloading apps.

@Youssef kashef these days people prefer over saturated colors like in the samsung devices , so it really depends on preferences , and lumia 930 is thicker , heavier and doesnot look as good , i believe the 830 is the best all round lumia devices .

AMOLED screens give you deeper blacks and saturated colours(too saturated) but IPS screens are better in sunlight (outdoors)also they give you natural colours! And if you like AMOLED screens you can buy the nokia lumia 930

I have been using this phone for almost 10 days now , knowing that i used to own an iphone and a lumia 720 before now let's move to what i really think about this phone. Camera : Camera is very good , but if you really want to take some really good pictures you need to use the manual mode which is easy to learn , i found the AUTO mode of the camera not performing well in some conditions like indoor , but when i interfere manually the pictures are much better but i believe that will be improved in the new Lumia camera coming up this quarter with dynamic flash and lots of amazing features , and also the ability to control shutter speed for up to 4 seconds is very good you will be able to make amazing effects using this feature and take perfect pics under low light conditions , Frond camera is not very good for selfies it's just good enough for video calls but you can take very good selfies with the back camera using the lumia selfie app which automatically takes a pic when it detects someone in the frame Screen : Screen is good but not amazing , it's 720P with 294 PPI which is more then enough for me but the screen colors are not as punchy and vivid as you would find in an amoled screen . Quality : The phone quality is just amazing , phone is thin , light and has a surrounding aluminum frame that makes the phone feels very premium and sturdy in your hands. Battery : Batter is more then average , it will take you through the day with moderate to heavy usage. ( Definitely better then all iPhones ) Windows phone : I my self love the windows phone i love how it looks , it's something new and fresh compared to the other icon based OS like android and IOS , the software it self is very sleek ,smooth and fast. @ankitmav87 donot worry , just do it gently you just push the sim out a bit using the needle , then use your hand , no damage at all , just use a very thin needle to be able to make a very small hole in the sim card then push movie the needle with the sim card out then continue removing the sim using your hand

Size f 1020 may be small bt it has oled display and not ips lcd as in d 830..and d pixel density is also much higher...it hs dual core bt 2gb f ram...n yeah updated win8.1 I really am in a dilemma wch handset to go with...is 1020 nly gud in cam n nthng else!? Bt specs doesn't imply that...
