  • Flash support in a desktop style browser and a dualcore processor..in 2005. Neat. Oh and look, an externalSD option and bluetooth filesharing.

  • Back in 2006's, this is a smartphone comparable to the motorola droid or samsung galaxy s of its time. This is probably one of the best phones that came out during its time. A pioneer phone.

  • @Babavyrus the available ram for nokia n80 less than 20megabytes.which is too low to open multiple applications.go for n78,n79,n82,n85,n86,n95 8g.any of those have high ram.you will be able to open multiple apps when you buy any of them.

  • To watch youtube videos in N80 follow this 1. go to real player 2. go to its settings 3.in connection go to Network 4. Here set the default access point e.g any wifi or network provider access point 5.Now browse the web with the same access point which you have selected as default in step 4 6. Now it will play youube videos. No worries

  • if you are using new headsets, it probably wont work (stereo sound), because the new headsets have bluetooth v2.0 or greater. but the nokia n80 have only v1.2. thats why i will buy new phone so my headset will be compatible with my phone. im using headset nokia BH-503

  • some of theme doesn't work its hard to find perfect theme for nokia n80. the flash theme dont work. i try it. because nokia n80 screen size is 352x416 thats why its hard to find theme. this phone suppose be 240x320 screen size not 352x416. thats stupid. and some 3d games play slow because the screen size messed up.if is 240x320 it will be fine.

  • Hi everyone! ;D it seems that i faced some problem after updating a new firmware to V5 recently. My N80 has been updating fine until two days ago when i uploaded new songs... the tracks get in but the music library doesn't update these new tracks in, it would register 0 added tracks then after the update it would say that there are no tracks in at all... you need to get out of the music player first & reenter it to see the tracks that were already there before the new ones... if i try to remove tracks, the update works fine & would record the removed tracks... what is wrong???? anyone please help me..

  • well, N80.. almost 4 years using this amazing phone,its really good phone from nokia and rock many other nokia phones, only i have 2 problems for N80: 1- Battery life [during 4 years i changed it about 12 times ] 2- somtimes phone become dummy,hanging [only if ur using it in high temp. places ]. this is all about N80,nothing else, i love it am still using it till getting the new N900. this is the real upgrade from N80 directlly go to N900 :)

  • it happened to me...just replace your battery with a new one. Don't charge your phone if this happens because my phone was near explosion when it hangs-up and after checking the battery, it was bulging and ready to explode, it was just a "nick of time"...thank God for that.

  • when i bought this phone its so slow when i open any folder it take 5 to 10 seconds im so piss off now its way better when i first bought it. now i lov it, this phone has everything its really great. but when i turn power off and turn it back again it slow down so what i do try to open and close all folders and it speed up.

  • Hi! If you want to get the flex cable changed and you are in Delhi then there is a mobile repair shop in market no.2 of c.r.park. the shop is located at the second floor. I also got the flex cable changed through him and he only charged Rs.250 including a guarantee of 5 days.All this happened in May10. Currently the mobile doesn't have any flex cable related problem.

  • some 3d games play so slow because cpu processor is slow and screen size 352x416 thats why it slow down ur games and ur phone. if is screen size 240x320,3d games work fast and ur phone fast like nokia n95. everything good just slow

  • The best phone i ever came across! It has got all the available features that a phone can have! Wi-fi,bt,ir,3.0 cam,video call,3g,modem,internet call,edge,dual arm processor etc. truly royal.. AM using it for 2 years..really cool.

  • guyz im facing tonnes of probs with my nokia n80 handset i bought a second hand nokia n80 last year..(my first mistake) everithng went well until now... basic problem is with my messaging if i send a text message then i dont get to know if the person has replied unless and until i switch my phone off and then switch it on again then when the main screen shows up..that is the active general stand by mode, i cant find the wireless option anymore..just the to-do organiser thng is there also now its sometimes difficult to send txt mssgs beacuse it sends me an error msg at times saying unable to send etc also now when im switching my phone on after being switched off,it gives me some genreal system error and then the phone automatically restarts... i like this phone alot...its a gud set..soo if anyone out there would would gladly help me out,id really appreciate that i really need help with my messaging...its screwed and because of it my whole phone's screwed :(

  • if its cheap then buy it. Remember that the battery on average will last a day if good. If you play music then it will be less. Wifi browsing will take some power too. Oh and the browser is really good, however there is not enough memory in the phone to render some websites, so you will soon become familiar with the "memory low" message.

  • Make sure you have the original battery in it. Many times people have bought these phone with a vox battery in them which swell up and explode. I have a friend you bought this phone and love it but the battery was Vox..I notice this when she showed me the two batteries. I kept telling them to have it checked too as it wasn't recharging properly at all and she was always complaining about it. Anyway the friend got fed up with it and gave it to me, when I did exactly what i told them to do regarding battery and everything, it is now working fine. They have a Blackberry now anyway. It is all about knowing your phone and what is should or should not have. What is strange though is that Nokia couldn't come up with a battery at their store and they were just keeping for the latest models ( that's not right) I finally did get an original Nokia from a store other than Nokia :o. tsk tsk Nokia.

  • I just got a 2nd hand N80 and it really is a good buy! im awake and working from 7am to 1am (not exactly 17 hours straight), and the phone is on and with me during that time and i really am disappointed with its battery life. but this phone has been a dream phone for me since it came out in '07. now i have one and really love the phone. nice big keypad, bright screen, clear and crisp camera, and its just truly a handsome business phone.

  • believe it or not!!! my nokia n80 was fell from the 3rd floor and what an awful fall it was on the ground,the unbelieveable and the miracle here it was ,when the phone battery split i returned it back to the phone and turned it on and it works and was not giving that the sim was split somehow it was the same thing with the memory card ,would you believe this !!! the phone worked like nothing was happened ,now tell me what phone would be able to resist such accident and i leave this accident for others to comment on it.

  • Nokia wont make any any improvements. This set was that buggy that they stoped its production very soon and launched its next versions like n81, 82. Even till date nokia has not launched even 1 update of its OS. Whenever i need to reinstall its OS it says no updation available please reinstall its existing software. This phone is in ARCHIVED folder of nokia. Instead of hoping for this, sell it if u find a good buyer and buy any stable new comers...

  • Never buy i know this pathatic phone is no more but donet even buy 2nd hand! Because: 1. Very slow OS 2.Unstable OS, Hanging, self switching if too much data is loaded. 3.The text typing speed degrades as text character keeps increasing while u r typing a long sms, even sometime at the middle it will switch off and ur whole typing gone waste. 4.Frquent reinstallation of OS requires probably after every 2/3 months, many abnormal problems pops up itself, like u assigned a ringtone in a profile 1st few sec that will ring then nokia default tone will start upon getting a call. 5.Hardware is rather worst. U must not let it fall, once if it fell, something will stop working internally and its repair is very costly, i have spent 4100rS so far since april 2007, and its resale price is 2000/3000 ha ha ha i cant even sell it now. 6.Being a sliding phone if u slide up and down unnecessarly there is a megnetic belt inside it that ll get wear and tear and again multiple issues will start i have even paid on fixing this also. In conclusion this is a money hunger, pathatic and a slowest mobile thats why nokia shuts it off immediately.Full of bugs, and last but not least battery life is poorest i wont say battery backup, becz i never seen any backup however i need to carry a charger always with me to provide it current back up. Cheers!I wonder how here gsm marina shows 7+ performance i rate this handset 3/10

  • your firmware is very old. i have the V 5.0719.0.2 and that is also old now. try updating your firmware using the nokia updater software. it fixes ALOT of issues and adds new features as well.

First free the ph0ne mem0ry, d0nt use mem0ry ph0ne. 2nd is to check the pr0gram or s0ftware that stil running even f u cl0se 8 already just h0ld the menu key f0r ab0ut 5sec and 8 will display the pr0gram that still running.. Or the best th�ng to do is to install pr0gram called tracklist, this pr0gram u can m0nit0r the ram, ph0ne mem0ry & mem0ry card... 0ver all, this is an amazing ph0ne 4 me this is a great ph0ne just kn0w only the limitati0ns & capabilities of this ph0ne & im sure increase the life of this ph0ne..   • this was a bug in the phone originally there is an sms accelerator you can download from the nokia website to solve it or google it or just update your firmware version to the newest and there will be no problems

  • Well remember the phone may still be locked in some options get a full unlock and the latest software done from the nearest nokia center and get the flex cable changed from them its good as new,then this problem can be solved, do not do it on your own tried to do it and it crashes the phone to dead status. Remember the normal flex cable for this phone lasts about the time said so if a new cable is replaced its great for the phone.... and dont mind it how else will people switch to the N95 if this does not wear off :-)

  • i love this phone! i have the black edition. Its actually a hand-me-down from an uncle who has been using it for 2 years, and its still working great for the 5 months that i have been using it. however, when i send text messages it takes a whole 2-minutes to send! I have removed videos and pictures from the memory card and phone memory, still the problem isnt resolved. can anyone help me with this? thank you so much! :)

  • Despite all comments about music- prefer this phone over Ipod as music switchesoff when call comes in and comes back after call ended. Battery live is fine when you use it in 2G mode. Disadvantage of this phoen as same as any other Slider- Flex cable brakes. Mine broke after 1.5 yers of use. At the moemnt replacement part is cheap . Done replacement myself in 20 minutes (love nokia's Clip parts. no soldering required) This one of the phones that will last long time (except Flex cable)

In fact all sonyericsson handsets have better bass than the n80. The n80 lacks good equalizers. However because its a smartphone, all you need to get is lcg jukebox and you will be on par with every music oriented phone out there. In fact it should be better but that depends on the headphones, and oh yh ditch the original ones because they are only good for phone calls

The equalizer is basic although with good headphones its reaaly good. As usual due to the os there are many applications such as internet radio. wifi is reaaly good. not as sensitve as n95 but better than nutn. the screen is nice. It has onli 65k colours so nt as colourful as n73 but much more neater and clearer. Its a small screen but the pixels are clear. My friend wit n73 noticed that. But i noticed my colours were more pale. there are tons of applications for the phone however themore u install the more the phone slows when booting. we all knw about the battery issues. it lasts me about a day but i always use wifi. camera is not the best these days. It is quite grainy when viewed on a pc. no autofocus. Quiker to capute due to the lack of it tho. it will always be a rare phone and altho its thick, everyone asks me what phone it is. i have the black version

  • it has the gps software in the phone but hidden. u need a certain task manager to view it. ive forgotten the name bt there should be a video on youtube. js type in hidden navigation on n80 or something like that like i sed the software is hidden because there is no hard ware or chip to utilise it. If u however purchase a stand alone navigator, u might be able to connect it using bluetooth however u need the task manager in oreder to view the software. i think its called best taskman or handy taskman. its one of them. like i sed this was about 2 years ago when i figured all this out.

  • n80ie has a folder in the menu called "My Own" It also has another folder called "Internet". In this folder there is a setting called Internet Telephone. Thats with mine anyway. Mine was originally an n80 which i changed into n80ie. There were other programs like gizmo but ive edited and reinstall it so many times i cant remember.

  • you can install the ngage software however it onli takes up half the screen due to the resolution which is uncomfortable. There is no support for the n80's resolution

  • the are softwares out there that can turn the phone into web cam. there are atleast 4 softwares. js google. i did not pay attention to them as i found them useless but a good novelty

It'l then pick up all adobe files. u may have to go into the memory card through the file browser to the location of the adobe file you want to view.It'l then open it, assuming its on the memory card. If its on the phone then go into the location using the file browser.

  • You can do a hard reset/Format that returns your fone to like you got it new, 1st Back up EVERYTHING!!!(contacts, Messages, Picturs, songs, etc), 2nd press/dial *#7370# put ur reset code and then keep hold of Buttons "Call" "3" & "*" until it asks you what country your from.

  • I believe that's not possible on the N80, if you missed the prompt to lock your keypad you will have to slide it open and close again to get the prompt. However, you can install something called mlock and program it to be one of your soft buttons. that way you save yourself some trouble in case you missed the prompt

  • Samsu just buy a new battery on ebay or some website. I did that and mine worked fine. It lasted alot longer. The original one that came with the phone was messed up. It also became expanded and could only hold charge for a couple hours too. Try buying a new one and putting it in, it worked for me.

  • I've had N70 and N93 and I got cheap N80 with some display problems (Display is yeloish) and I stop using N70 and N93 because N80 is faster, no crash and rarely displays memory problem. camera is good and lot faster than N93. Have 2GB SD in N80 and N93 and N80 is lightyears faster than N93. When I resolve display problem I will only use N80 it's great!

  • most likely the ribbon cable which connects the signals from the 2 parts of the phone is faulty through wear. next thing to go will be the screen. you need new ribbon cable.

  • put it on the floor, take the left frontwheel of a greyhoundbus (long version) and roll over the phone. When used the left wheel, the phone will never swith off again. Using the rigt wheel may destroy the slider, so be carefull!

  • No one can deny its extra resolution which has been arranged within its relatively smaller LCD area... Is indeed a great gadjet but extremely minute pixel size makes it a little slower in displaying contents as i suppose CPU speed here doesnt match with its other features... also sliding the phone involves drudgery, otherwise is a good phone to owe.

  • hey, yes ive had that problem. its a fault with the card that conects your screen and the main board its relatively cheap to get fixed i had mine done for $30 aud but depends on where u live. if u dont get it repaired the speaker and video call camera may get wrecked too.

  • I bought a new battery off ebay and it seems to be fine now. Sometimes I dont even charge it for a couple days if I dont really use it that much. It helps if you dont leave your phone charged over night. It seems like the battery dies faster if you over charge it by leaving it plugged in all night. I just charge it up a couple hours before I leave the house till it says full battery. Make sure you have the original nokia charger made for the phone and not an after market one.

  • Anyone ever had this problem? When you open the slider the screen goes completely white and is lite up and when u close it, it goes back to normal. Anyone figure how to fix that issue? The phone still works for calling and recieving but when I open to use the keypad I cant see to text or dial.

  • The web browser is ok. I guess it depends on your wifi connection too. Sometimes I would have a problem viewing websites, it would say memory full and wouldnt let me browse anymore. I would have to restart my phone to start web browsing again. It actually happened quite alot. Could of just been my filmware though... maybe it was outdated?

  • You're right it has good features. Only thing I didnt like about this phone is the slider they should of put a spring in it, no auto lock and the pictures that are taken get blurry easily if whatever you're taking isnt completely still for a few seconds after clickin the button. I used the internet edition for almost 3 years. I just ordered a SE and still waiting for it in the mail. Its time for a change.

  • Take it to a 'club nokia' outlet, they have a bit of software on memory stick which wipes the phone and re-installs it with latest everything. Worked for me when my phone hung on browser and messaging :-)

  • You need to reset your phone, do it this way, in the idle screen put this, *#7370#, then yes and for last put 12345, wait until your phone restarts and that's all, you need to backup your contacts and other data stored in the phone's internal memory because all data and settings will be erased, and have full battery charge before reset.

  • im just wandering why so many people are being angry when their flex got broke...it depends upon the user guys if u know how to use the phone then there would be no problem..im using this phone for over a year and still no sign of problems..if your just a typical user i recommend this phone.cheap phone with wi-fi capable.this phone got everything that u need. if your a hardcore cellphone user then go buy a higher class but if not this phone fits you perfectly.. every phone needs some care. and care is the key for your phone to go through years.

  • I think 8's the flex of ur n80 is the problem. I meet this kind of problem of mine. Just replace the flex,go to a qualified service center. the keypad wont work bcoz of d damaged flex. My n80 is now already repaired & it works perfectly now.

I love nokia, but I have to admit that it lacks quality to its handsets. the USB cable stopped working in a month and the charger does not work anymore! the battery cover is loose and the battery lasts a short time. The browser is not the best and the wifi receiver is weak.

  • I had this phone for about two years time, and can say that, this is the best N series phone, it has a best screen size 416x360, and I don't understand why here in this preview is noted as 256k on screen, because they are not actually all of them like that, because my N80ie was org 16.800000 colors on screen. It's so britte and clear hi res screen, no other N series can do better! It was not that speedy thing, but the any work i started with it, i have dun with success that's important! I was using for office, multi-reader, watch movie, photo and video rec, music, radio ad internet radio and TV, VoiP call throw wireless for free in all EU,USA, video-call, internet surfing and cracking referrals to make internet maney and more. Battery better than the rest N-series, depend hove you use it. I have sold my N80 out, but i feel i miss it, if you find one of this device for good price, just bay it and question later guys!

  • Make sure you don't have it connected to the 3G network. Set it to the GSM network. Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are switched off unless you are using them. Update the firmware to the the latest release. Download an application called "Taskman" and install it on your phone. It shows all applications running on your phone and allows you to switch off the ones that you are not using. Doing all of the above will extend your battery life considerably.

  • Great phone. Excellent reception and has never dropped a call in 12 months. 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Infrared and PnP connectivity. Amazing 3.2 megapixel camera. Very decent battery life. I get about 4 days between charges with moderate use. Hundreds of applications to download and run on the Symbian OS. I have Skype running on my N80. What more could you want? Bought mine for just $200 on eBay. Nokia deserve praise for this phone. It's a winner.

  • all of slide-up phones has its maintenance, it's the "ribon" ---> (i don't know if my spelling is correct) so you really have to repair it. take care when you're sliding up your phones.

  • Hi Shamcy, It is a good ideea if you swith to GSM, no UMTS/3G. And other good thing will be to close all applications that you are not using by pressing EXIT (even contact list after calling somebody). The applications continue to be open in background and using battery.

  • I am using for about 1 year Nokia N80 Black Internet Edition with a memory card of 2 GB. I am very please of my phone, it works and looks awesome. I took very care of it and it still looks like a new phone. The battery last even 4 days if you are not using internet or music, but normally with MP3, internet, picures, the battery will took no more than 2,5 days. The camera is very good, but also like N73 it takes very much time to process a photo. The internet is fantastic!!! The allarm clock is not repeated and the phone is not charching when connected to PC/notebook (also like Nokia N73. My grade: 9,50/10,00.

  • I've had my phone now for about 2 years. The display is awesome but, battery life is horrid. I have to charge it twice daily through normal use, and now the battery has started to swell causing the flimsy battery cover to bend out of shape. The camera lens is centrally located at the top of the phone without any protection, making it easly vulnerable to scraches. Prossesor lag is terrible, even when it was new it took about a minute and a half to start up. Internet and WiFi are excellent on this phone but are let down by the poor battery life. The slider has a flimsy operation and has already started to shake,rattle and roll. The key pad is too small, making it frustrating for lage thumbs, and the tacky looking paint on the fourway directional key easly peels away. To conclude,this phone is'nt special being a highend phone Nokia could do better, as a business tool I do not recomend this phone, instead have a look at the HTC Touch Diamond or TyTN ll.

  • is not your fault.is just that your phone has been infected with virus and for that matter sooner or later the phone it self will go off if u dont take care.what you really have to do is to update ur phone from the nokia site for a latest version of ur phone and then install an anti-virus so prevent another virus.after that lower the brightness of ur cell to avoid energy consumption.on ur energy saving ability. 1.go to tools 2.go to settings 3.go to phone 4.go to display. good luck. 2.

  • I have nokia 6270 and its about 1.5 years old. It is a high end high cost mobile from nokia. I and my many friends trusted and bought several nokia costly sets. But after the warranty is over it started giving problem....And when i took it to nokia care, they said [bit can not be repaired[/b], they even did not see what was the problem. Then i took it to another nokia care, and this time they just touched it and told it can't be repaired..... Friends do not buy nokia high end mobile phones because the[b after sells service of nokia is the worst ever[/b].i and my friends are suffering so i thought that i should post my bitter experience to all.....Once your warranty is over your costly set will start giving problem and if it is then its gone because nokia's high end mobile life time is just the warranty period they provide. Have to say till now been loving it.Has everything i need & more.Can still be compared to phones coming out now.Has everything one needs & the sound quality is exceptional.The wifi is amazing & day time pix are very good. The major cons are the bulky frame & the general weight & bulkiness esp if u comapre wit the LG's & Samsungs wth their highly polished & slim models. Will probably have this till next year,my eyes just fell on the Samsung i850 INNOV8.I WILL go for that phone.Simply stunning & packed with features plus i kinda prefer sliders & flip phones,so that fits the bill perfectly.

  • Hi, I have this phone since october 2007 and never really had a problem with it. Only the battery does not last long, but that is almost part my fault for not charging it. Furthermore, I find that this phone was technologically advanced for when it came out and it still can compete with many of the newer phones today. I give it a 8 out of 10. Its a great phone.

  • There's a chance to recover your deleted pictures especially when the were stored on your External Memory (Mini-SD). Download the program here --> If you have a card reader, much better.

  • I think your flex cable is starting to show its damage. You may never recover your deleted files back. If you eventually discover how, better get in touch with every investigating organization in the world because they'll surely want you to work for them.

  • With the N80, you can surf the web thru two built-in browsers; Services and Web (which is found within the My Own folder). You can connect via GPRS (WAP), EDGE, UMTS (3G) and WiFi (WLAN). As I just said several posts below, there are two versions of the N80 (N80 normal and IE)... Well, three if you count the one for the American market (UMTS 1900 instead of 2100).

  • The WiFi capability was the main reason why I got the N80 two years ago, so I'm with you on that one.

  • I've answered this question before. The N80 has been around since 2006, so I believe that the phone should be one of the cheapest Nseries with WLAN (WiFi). The 2 versions of the N80, the normal and the IE have lots of things in common. The only difference is that the IE has additional applications for VOIP (internet calls) not found on the normal one. Even so, some N80 normal users claimed to have upgraded their phones' firmware to the IE's. And if you're not bothered to do the same, there are 3rd party applications for VOIP (like fring, for example) that works on both normal and IE versions. Both versions are available in gray and black. I actually own the normal version in gray. The main flaw of the N80 and all slider phones and even folding phones is that they are structurally dependent on one component that is bound to break even with normal use. What you read about issues and problems with what is called the flex cable are true. If you consider yourself a real fan and won't mind having your phone fixed in a year or two, then by all means get the N80. Otherwise, get a different phone in bar form. It'll be more durable.

  • I've had that same problem with my N80 before, and the malfunctioning earpiece was just one of the symptoms. Have the earpiece checked, and the flex cable as well. But I'm betting more on the flex cable on this.

  • My friend has that kind of problem but was quickly fixed. Some kind of a part was replaced. Just take it to a service center.

  • But don't get me wrong. I still like my trusty N80, which helps me manage 2 mobile phone numbers. In an environment of laptops, I was the only one sending out e-mails using a phone.

  • The inevitable damage to the flex cable is why my N80 is my very last slider phone. I didn't get the N95 for that very same reason, and I got no plans to get the N96 when it comes out. I'm currently using my N82, but I still have my N80 around as a back-up phone.

  • Not even a year of using this phone and I've had to go and get it repaired just with regular use. Main problem: flex cable. Service center said the flex cable will be a recurring problem because of course you will keep on sliding the phone to use it! Well that ain't good if I keep paying for flex cable repairs every year.   • You will need the access point configured, provided there's a wireless LAN router around. No router, no access point. Read the user manual for more details.

  • Forgot to mention, be sure to have the correct streaming settings on your phone. Check Realplayer - Options - Settings - Connection - Network - Default access point. You won't be able to stream anything without an access point.

  • You can watch youtube clips on your N80. Simply go to m.youtube.com using either Services or Web browsers. Videoclips will be streamed through Realplayer. Best that you do it through WiFi as it will cost you some if done through 3G, EDGE or GPRS.

  • This is the crappiest phone EVER INVENTED FOR MANKIND AND ALL THAT IS GOOD...don't take my word for it ....try one for yourself and feel the crappiness! The response is sluggish even with NOTHING on its memory ! The case & housing is flimsy had to buy a whole new Generic housing with 12 months, i barely used it. The Generic housing works better, lighter and gives the ugly thing a newer look ! Dispite, all that i said above, as an honest users review, the features are good like wifi, camera, FM Radio,...etc. well if you are looking for a phone with similar features...go for the N82 THE BEST for its price ! Trust me !! think twice before you buy this lump of a lard...err..well looks like it when in my pocket ! *sheesh* This is my FIRST Nokia thats taken some insults ! lol...Can't believe i bought it !

  • I've been using this unit since December 2006 and it has never been damaged. I had it upgraded to N80ie through nokia software update and it works very well with WLAN. Hope you can come up with a new Battery that lasts a longer period when the unit is used in the internet and picture taking. Battery charging is usually being done every 3 days (for texting use only).

  • what the f... i am using this fone for last 1 yr. the performance is highly commentable. but nokia has discontinued the model and launched higher version of the same i.e n95. u may be one among those unluckiest person to have the problem for n80. n80 is very good model. i advise nokia to relaunch the mobile with additional and attractive features to demolish all the past critics

  • I have been using Nokia N80 for well over 1 year. Have found it most reliable and has never failed. Batter needs to be charged for 1 hour everyday (after the initial full charge up). Otherwise battery will drain in 36 to 40 hours, even with minimum use.

  • Got this phone as a company phone and have to tell you that i had never anything whorse than this one. Everytime I receive a call it automatically switches off on its own.Gave it to the shop already 3 times but they are unable to fix it. Nokia should learn from there basic phones and make them as reliable as the 2100 model for exsample.

To toncezs: Nokia phones used to have that software included in the cd wherein you could put in a username and password, but that was only if you were to use your phone as the modem. I think you know that as far as connection settings are concerned, the phone only asks for your WLAN key. The difference between the N80 and the N80IE lies only in added features.   • Go to nseries.com and download SMS accelerator. it is a freeware and counts 3kb in size so you can even install it via email attachment lol. the application is invisible after installation. believe me this little thing will boost sending sms.

  • I don't know how to reformat the N80, but after re-install or upgrade de flash memory, it is back to factory settings with working original apps. I did this when the wifi failed to build a new connection. Make sure to backup you phonebook and calendar data and the applications you installed in the internal memory and remove the SD card.

  • More on reformatting the N80, there is something that is called a "hard reset" that can be done by pressing a combination of keys simultaneously. This is in contrast to a "soft reset" where you leave the phone idle with the battery out for some time. Reading old posts would tell what those keys are. I have never tried doing a "hard reset" before, and as such I could not tell how effective it could be.

  • The internet carries vast amount of information on how to reformat the N80. There are some that would claim it as a D-I-Y, although personally I'd rather hand my phone over to the pros.

  • The N80 and N73 both have the same music player and equalizer setup. There isn't any difference in sound quality when using heaphones (although some claim that the N73 ME has a better audio quality than the regular N73). Flex cables are prone to tearing. The bar code reader application can be downloaded free from the Nokia N-Series web/wap site. Since the N80 does not have an autofocus camera lens, you have to switch to macro mode to make the reader work.

  • The lag experienced whenever you send out messages had been rectified years ago with the SMS Accelerator made by Nokia and can be downloaded from both the NSeries web and wapsites. You also get the SMS Accelerator and the APServer when you install fring on your N80. About those asking of the N80's video and photo qualities versus the N70, the N80 may take better pictures but the N70 still takes better video what with a dedicated chip to support its camera module and is something the N80 does not have. If you want to test whether your N80 is having a Flex Cable (ribbon) problem, try sliding the top part up or down very slowly. When the screen turns white halfway, then you got a problem (even if everything goes back to normal later). Other symptoms include having a faulty 2nd camera, inaudible keypad tones (even when set to the highest setting), and a faulty earpiece. Hope those things help.

I really got fascinated...I like its shape and love the whole features of it.I bought it with out any hesitation.But after using it for a few months I started to have problem.especially when sending text messages.It takes time before it will sent.Even in calling its always stuck.So after having it for 18months I decided to swap it to another unit.

  • To jgunsalam u can change the casing but u need *Star type* screw driver to change the case. If battery facing problem after change new one, Try buy original battery because the BR-05 battery recently facing problem like unable to charge to full or drain so fast or full but only can stand 5min after that empty. but n80 also drain battery kinda fast(1day+).   • I have this phone 1 year ago. I'm very happy with the feature for this phone. But i always facing the skrin problem because of ribbon. I already changing 4 times my ribbon with rm150 each. Also i can't changing the casing itself. The batery also got problem where the original batery already broken. So, as a conclution form out of 10, i choose 7 for this phone.

  • Gayanath if me not mistaken u having problem with the ribbon, me look around alot forum, mostly they have same problem because the ribbon. Try Less Use the slide, try unlock by power button, and save all contact, so can less damages the ribbon on it. but the ribbon cause quite cheap around MYR50.

  • Me using third day including today, not big problem, first need master reset because the color run off(if u having green line or color run off than try master reset), 2nd meet battery life(Br-5 battery, so what u think? ), third is unlock keypad keep appear but i think it respon to my Pouch(magnet on it) tat why. but it great phone, nice camera, so small n quite slim if u compare with another pHone(dun compare with slimer). afterall nice phone, love it.....

  • i have hand my nokia N80 for a year now. i dont use all of the features like wlan and internet browsing.i personaly think that it is a multimediea brick !! the 3mp camera is very gd because the auto focus,zoom and the fact that it can automatically adjust how much light is needed in the picture.the sound is ok and the clarity is also quite gd. i think that the memory is of low capacity and even with my 128 mb mini sd card i have only got around 20 odd tracks but i do have alot of pics on it. the batery life only lasts for about 3 days and that is when i leave it on a shelve.! i can get about 3 hours of consant music play back when fully charged. on the oher hand the n80 has blutooth and an infered port. this phone is good for a buisness man/woman as it has quick office,a secondary camera which i think would be gd for a 2 person confrence lol. the charge time is fairly fast.and finally you can create presentations and send emails but i don't really use those features much as i am only thirteen. i would rate this phone 6-7/10 i hope you find this unfortionatly long and boring comment useful when buying this phone

  • I have been using Nokia N80 for the past 1.5 years. It has worked well, and been through everything with me :) However, it is NOT THE BEST phone. Pros: Good resolution screen Good camera Many features Wi-Fi Cons: BULKY HEAVY THE cable connecting the phone to the computer does is wobbly. I nearly bricked a phone because I moved the phone from one position to another when updating the firmware. HUGE in pocket THE cover is wably SMALL keys, especially the D-pad Slow when loaded up with themes and other stuff MANY useless features for the average user All in all, this phone is good for the corporate people that really need the email, internet, and other corporate-oriented features of this phone. As an average user, I regret spending so much money on a phone, whose features I barely used. I just got myself Nokia 6300 and it has everything I need without excess and for a good price. So, if you are a corporate guy, if you are constantly on the move and need all of the features offered by N80, get it. Otherwise, don't waste your money.

  • almost all slider, clamshell, and swivel phones suffer from this ribbon thing resulting into white screen. with that in mind i still went with this phone because of all the features packed into it. 6500 slide might be faster than this one but specs wise, i think this phone still wins.

  • my problem (white screen)has finally been solved last night. i went to nokia care center and was informed that it's most likely that the ribbon (flex) has been damaged. And true enough coz when they open it "that" part was broken indeed (they let me see it). It cost me more or less $45.

  • I have been using this phone for more than 1 year and its giving me a lot of problems. I don't know why it happened but everytime I wanted to send a sms, it would either the screen freezes and it takes more than 5 minutes to send it over to the receipient. So I can only continue using the phone after the sms had been sent. or the phone would auto-restart itself for the third or fourth minute when the screen freezes. I don't know why the phone will react this way. And also, the phone uses up too much power already. What should I do?

  • I am using this N80 right now. There are a little problem. All N Series product have a problem. They will restart suddenly whenever they want. Beside we are using the internet that's time or anything, twice , three times or more for a day. But N80 is a nice hp. Best picture and sound. But not so suitable to make it a phone call, because, i can't hear the voice when i am calling to someone. When it happen, i am using the loudspeaker. So bad.

  • Good one- no complains at all. Bulky? nuhh it worth bulky and just the right size for big guys like me. the only cons i have is the top number keys 123 are hard to hit. my battery lasts for 3 days with normal use "i'm not that music fan" use WiFi seldomly and 1-2 hours max talk plus text. still standing for 2 days. if i were to complain i would say that bloody blue light keeps flashing at night. thats annoying how can i turn that shit off?

  • got N80. no complains so far. compared to my old k750i and it was awesome. i konw its older than N95 but overall the same performance with reasonable price. even better performed than Iphone. really Iphone doesn't have 3G and infrared while i can play with my TV set using N80. touch screen doesn't matter when oyu got much higher resolution. wifi works cool paired with my home net. and finally, thank you Nokia team!!! honor goes to you.

  • raexelleanne n70 has a better video quality than n80 Im sorry to say that the video quality has nothing to do with the megapixel resolution of the camera n80 has had problems taking videos indoors it is the noise that causes the blurring if you'd notice it would become alittle bit on par with n0 when ooutdoors or in very good lighting right?

  • one advice to all nokia users,in order to keep your phone in a good shape and makin it last for a long time without any errors or problems,so do the following: try not to keep your bluetooth active for most of the time,also try not plug in and unplug in your cable for so many times ,if you want to transfer data try the mem.card reader,coz using bluetooth all the time will weaken your battery dificiency. try also to manage your data and get rid of the undisired files inside your phone memory,also try to use the sleep mode that will increase the battery function,last try to check the files before sending them or recewiving them on your phone and install a trustful anti.virus software .. regards,,

  • Ive still got my N80 lying around on my desk, realy great phone, ive got a N81 but i sometimes use my N80 mainly because of that beautiful hi-resolution screen. My only problem with the N80 was the short battery life, slow processing and lack of RAM (Only 20mb at start-up), and my N81 has taken away all those issues :-) Matt There must be something wrong with your speaker.

  • excellent new update software. my phone n80 old version 3.xx which WIFI cannot switch off. After upgrade the new software. My N80 wifi option is now on/off. normally battery stand bout 24 hours. When wifi is off.. wow.. battery life up to 3 days. believe or not. you all may email me for futher information. ^_^

  • I wouldnt recomend this as a main phone, i use it for internet/modem and the battery is shyte. Superb screen (matched only by E60), good camera but then no batter life. I also have a 6233 which i hugely recommend.

  • I've had an N80 for about 18 months and I love it. When I first got it I wished I could have got the N95, but now that I've seen a few dropped - springs flying, cases exploding etc. I'm glad I opted for the N80.

  • Good phone, but I am not happy with the firmware. I tried updating to latest firmware and it became worse. All N-series firmware seems to be like this (I own a N76 too and its the same story). However, overall, this is a very good phone, which has everything you need.

  • seriously this is a crap phone. I does everything else besides make calls, which is an important feature for a cellphone. It drops calls, gives connection error messages and has horrendous signal problems all of the time! The software is slow and buggy at the best of times even after updating the firmware on a regular basis. Trust me you would be better served carrying a lump of coal around in your pocket.

  • This phone is great but i encountered a problem which lead me into selling ita fter a year of owning it. When i use the slide up feature, the screen will not respond and i will only see a white background, then after a little bit of nudging the phone in different ways, the display will come back, then it will be gone again..eventually it just went out. At first i thought it was a software failure or some virus, It was very difficult to use and i found out that it was the "flex" that malfunctioned, a usual problem with all slide-up phones of Nokia, and i found out that i will replace the flex once a year just to maintain the phone. Another thing is the battery life, it's very short..it sucks.

  • N80 is a very nice phone... feature wise and price wise. I like its plain black color. But when it comes to camera, eventhough its has a 3 megapixel camera its not as good as sony ericsson's k800i coz i also owned 1. But if where going to talk about speaker n80 is the best.

Loved the WiFi function, great display although incomparable with Nokia's recent 16 Million colour phones, Good and tough built, camera is clear only when you look at it without zooming in cause if you do, you'll be very very DISAPPOINTED... Edges gets really blurry but all in all, it's indeed a great phone if only the battery could've lasted longer... In Conclusion, N82 is my next phone! Nokia rocks! Hahaha... =)

  • Just bought a n80 for $15 USD on CL. Everything works great except the lcd screen is cracked (Its still viewable under candescent lighting). It was run over with a car and shows to be very tough. NO internal damages nor external other than couple scratches. Slide still works perfectly with no jumps. Camera works great. SMS and text works. All in all happy but more happy when my new lcd comes in :)

  • for the SMS freezing issue, install a "SMS ACCELERATOR"... you can find this at the nokia website...

  • ana_joy... probably it's time for you to replace your battery... after around 300+ cycles OR if the battery life lasts within a day, then you need to replace it with a brand new battery... when i first used my phone around 2 years ago, the battery's life is like 3 days (maximum), but recently i charged my phone in the morning, then the next day (morning) my battery bar is down to 1 bar... so i decided to replace it with a new one... i hope this helps... =)

  • Have had the N80 over a year. Only complaints are: 1) Battery life is very short. Have to charge daily. 2) 3 MP camera not as good as the N70's camera. 3) No big fonts. Am over 50 so eyesight not as it used to be. Am very satisfied with it. Use it with care and it still perfomrs like when I feirst bought it. Well, I installed the patch that came out sometime in July. Great with wifi. jojo mandaluyong city philippines

  • I have been using this phone for about 15 months..at first everything was perfect as it was my dream phone ever (the great design)...but lately everything has come to a disappointment when the fully charged battery only left back 2 bars after a 30 mins conversation and the worst thing is that after send sms, the whole thing will "hang" for 2-3 mins before it can respond again.

  • I got the n80 2m ago and i am totally dissapointed. Why in the hell do they use 850mAh battery in a phone with large sharp display, Wifi??? it worked only 5 hours with wifi 30 minutes and few calls. RAM Memory is small and internet browsing is stuck with low mamory message. wlan reception is weak. Also it is large and the worst slide phone as you hardly reach upper buttons. yet the software is stable no bugs. I am thinking of shifting to e51 with 50Mb ram 130Mb user memory.
