I'dont like the phone, you can't turn down starting sound and video. When battery is low it shuts down with no alert before, just turns down during a call with teriible noise. And when you get an sms with phone number you cant automaticly write it to contact book which my old phone was doing. design grate performance bad.

Dude !! This phone is very poor quality. i bought it one year ago, and guess what...something went wrong in his sistem and broke up. the problem now is i can't find anyone who can repair it...do your self a favor...don't buy this crap

I found an option "Show moon" ("Montrer lune") in the list of quick access touch. I actived it but it doesn't seem to do anything. I thought it would show moon phases. I've sent an email at Philips but they're not able to answer ! Does anyone know something about this function ? Thx.

I've asked for Philips Consumers Service about how to remove those annoying video and sound when you turn on the phone. Answer : it's impossible. :-\ PS : in fact if you turn off your phone in "silent mode" there won't be any sound when you'll turn it on. But it's not very convenient...

i got my phone back from the service and a few things are a litle bit strange about it they changed my internal display and now the colors are more vivid the external display now light up in white instead of blue and remains light up when the phone is opened the theme is now blue instead of green and the picture quality has increased

i dont get it whats whith you people the wy to send and recive pictures throgh infrared it so simple throgh infrared that even a 5 year old could do it al you have to do is go to infrared an chose receive or go to the picture and chose send, and if it doesn't work your infrared must not compatible(you shold check the irda port before buing it but i've sent pictures to almost any kind of phone(except for infrared which can only receive but thats because is't another generation of infrared)

about the fotocall function it works for groups so go to phonebook>settings>group you have about 20 groups so make a group whit only one person(go back to phonebook and delect the gruop for that person in the picture)

well it finaly broke down good thing i stil have the waranty the internal speaker stoped working about the equalizer i think it works during a call you should try to change it when you speak to someoane i did not notice a diference whith my adp formats or ringtones by the way did you know you can convert mp3 to adp format which is a kind of wav format and the soud quality is great(to bad about the 50kb limit) but search for wav2adp Well i'm waiting to get it fixed now.

- you CAN send photos to your pc by infrared cable conected into the computer's USB port - you CAN use a handsfree , you connect it in the same place you connect the charger - in order to send something to the PC via infrared cable you DON'T need any kind of software , you just press send via infrared and it will show up on the computer screen - the pictures are great when seen on the pc screen ( excellent for their size 640x480) - if you have any other questions just send me an e-mail and i'll answear to all your questions

Ok. I understand with that handfree. But I have one and last question. In menu...(somewhere) you have a option called EQUALIZER. i've change from Panel to Treble or bass+treble...nothing happens.....what's that thing for ??the sound (ringtones) didn't change.

I can not download my pictures from the phone to my pc although i have an original philips data cable specially for this phone philips 655 i can perfectlly sent pictures tones or something else from my pc to my phone but not the other way :( i need help!!!

I have a Philips 655 since july 2005,and im a little bit desapointed.The phone is great,but to take photos is damn difficult.U need lots of light(natural sun light).In nocturn mode the photos look like u did it in the year 1907.Only the design makes the money.And whats with this huge mirror?

To repond on cristi: I tried it and it don't work!!! I see the light (black and white) change but theire is no blue colour!! I think it is maybe broken!!! I like this phone but that there is no light bother me a lot!!! When I open my phone i see the blue light on the external display, but it don't switch on when i recieve a message!!! xxxxxx

cable will not solve any problem. the only way to send pictures from mobile to pc is by infrared. but guss what? it dosen't work. i told Philips about this and i recive a mail in witch thei told me that i shoud take my phone to a service. in the end i found out that the problem can not be fix.

I bought this 655 from philips and I am having trouble to unload pictures to the PC via infrared. the phone simply do not recognize/finds the pc. also i cannot find a cable for it. but I am not sure the cable will solve the problem since the software provided by vendor do not comprise such an option to download from phone to pc. can anyone who went through this trouble could give me a helping hand, please?

I buyed this phone and i'm happy with it. Sometimes it is long to type a message, it is weird because first you choose the sender, but it is ok. It is a shame that you don't have a counter when you type a message, so you can check that you do not send 2 messages, or maybe if someone now how to switch that on?? There are some stupid things about this phone, but it is alright.

The phone dosen't have an USB Port, but you can download or upload with an IrDA wireless bridge (the phone has infrared port). It takes clear pictures, but it needs a lot of light, beside that it's a great mobile phone and has a great price (only 129$). I recomand for all mobile lovers, he has a great design, and has a lot of features.

I bought this phone three weeks ago,and from the first day I was very dessappointed of it.The external display does not work and the internal works only partial.After three days I returned it to the store and they send the phone to philips lab.I have no answer from them until now.I believe that the phone has factory problems and I still wait to get an other one not a refurbished unit.The pictures are very poor quality...and believe me : don't buy this phone.I will never buy in the future Philips products !!!

I have been looking for a while and I found the ansver. Some guy wrote that this phone have got active screen, that means if you heve got active main display, you are usung the light on it '( or how to say it) the outside screen should shinig on blue, otherwhise the screen is broken :]

Yes, the name (or number if not in the directory) of the caller appears on the outside screen. But I have not found how to activate the blue back light, as shown everywhere. :-( And I neither managed to remove this stupid video when you switch on the phone.

ok thx. but there is one more thing which I would like to know. Does the outside screen works correctly. Someone said that there are problems with the blue light on screen, and it's impossible to see who is calling to you. Is it true??

It looks like we can't transfer pictures or anything else from the phone to the computer. This is what Philis itself emailed to me. A CRAZY BUG, indeed. The manual says the contrary! Is Philips a serious corporation? I think so. But not in this case!!!

i bought one of these a month ago.i paid almost 200$ for it.it`s a good phone but it has some litlle things which must be fixed.It takes clear pictures but it needs a lot of light.It`s hard to find .mids and to download java games.i for example i have problems with java.moreover it`s extremly hard to find a data cable.I tried at GMB(i`m from constanta) but i couldn`t find.I found only an infrared serial port which wasn`t compatible.if you find a data cable please let me know so i`ll go and buy one for myself.thanks

it's a good phone but it has a few problems infrared port suports only 50kb to be transmited or receveid,camera needs a lot of light to take a good picture but the quality is very good,animations plays slow,games and apps are a bit hard to find,pictures are hard to receive unles you use the right software to convert them, recordings are stored in a crazy format *.fr and you cant send them by infrared, it has a defragmentation proces that is kind of stupid(after you send mms) well thats the bad side the good things about it are: cool design loud speaker infrared is compatible with all phones BeDJ a great ringtone composer great sound quality 7 mb memory tv slide show the adp format for plays quite well and you can convert small mp3(or part of an mp3 about 10 secons) a good phone for this price if anyoane wants games or apps for this phone contact me

Ade I use infrared port to transfer data from 655 to PC. I do not use any spesific program for this i ust say send by infrared yhays all.. but you can not send large data by this way..

first of all, this phone is quite cheap :) its only around $ 129 US dollar. I love the design of it... looks nice.. u got to see the real stuff then u know :) of course u cant compare with those expensive stuff like NOKIA, SE, Motorola, Samsung etc which got Bluetooth, Megapixel cam, external memory, etc.. U should check the price as well.. For some people who loves clamshell phones (flip) but they cant afford to buy those expensive stuff so I suggest to buy this one :) Heii even I will buy this one too, for my collection :) its nice and pretty cool design too...

thats a great phone.. i also could not find the data cable but i use infrared to trnsfer data .. you may use it also.. and it can not play or record video. but i really like that phone i think philips learned that job :)..

The worst phone I ever had (I was using Nokias and SE before). Maybe it looks nice - that is why I bought it - but the software is VERY stupid... :-(( For example: - phonebook entries are sorted in a different way for UPPER and LOWER case letters; - that is why you cannot search entries in phonebook; - SMS are sorted in completely unknown way - looking like "sorting by contents" :-)))))))) - the phone is extreamly slow (f.ex. you have to push arrow down two or three times to move the cursor one line down - on nearly any list); - the "red button" (on-hook) not always works; - when editing SMS-to-send, when you leave the phone for a moment, the phone goes for a screensaver, and the message is lost; - you cannot use national-letters in SMS or phonebook entries; - when you turn the phone on it plays extreamly LOUD some disco-music, which cannot be silenced nor turned off - what makes it difficult to turn the phone in a discrete way (e.g. at work or at hospital); - difficult menu - sometimes you have to dig six or more levels down to get some simple function (e.g. outgoing calls counter); - when you put an alarm (buzer) into a sleep mode (7 min.) there are no way to turn it off (you have to wait this 7 min. and press "OK" twice - if you press any other key, you have to wait another 7 min. for next try) - etc. etc. Generally: looking nice, but poor software engineering. Let's hope Philips will employ better specialists soon and a firmware update will solve all problems...

Absolutely a really nice phone. This design rocks. Looks like Philips from a design perspective is back on track. I am however dissapointed often with the lack of features. This company is also often very late with features that competitors already have for 12 months or so. Philips is a great alternative brand, but those Dutch guys need to speed up a bit....:-)

This phone looks very good. Have to wait and see the performance. An FM Radio would have mode this more interesting. Somehow I always feel that Philips (or is it all the manufacturers ?? ) does not come up with a phone with everything. The buyer always has to make a compromise.
