Samsung A997 Rugby III - User Reviews

  • This phone probably is pretty cheap

  • I bought this phone and didn't notice that it was AT&T so it arrives on time brand new?? The battery is great, the phone volume works great, I can receive and send message perfectly... BUT the radio/GPS/Games/ETC..etc... anything that requires an AT&T subscription is unusable. I cannot use it and being in Canada we don't have this carrier. So a word to the wise buying anything on line read VERY carefully before buying anything.I have tried to remove the AT&T stuff but I am told its part of the phone and cannot be removed...

  • clean the battery connections, scrape them with a file

  • Some of us don't need those features.

  • I own this phone and it's pretty tough. One drawback: You can't sideload JAR/JAD files to the phone, you need to use WAP to download an app that allows you to access the root filesystem of the device so you can copy the JAR file to a certain folder.

  • Why does my rugby phone turn off by itself

  • Buy the unlocked version.. eb@y or other online shops. Im in indonesia and im using this phone with no problem except the at&t apps not worked

  • I buy samsung rugby 3 from aliexpres but i can active a gps

  • Buy an unlocked phone (Amazon) or unlock it with the help on a code from (many website you can buy the code) and then take a sim card from where ever u like and put it into the phone. Only problem I found in the US these phones are ATT so you will end up with allot of apps pretaining to ATT which you cannot remove unless you root (there are other ways too) to remove them (a pain in the butt) In Canada your stuck with bell that said it still works great in calls and texting. But you shouldn't pay more than $100 for an unlocked rugby 3.

  • Yes... When the phone is ringing - open the clam shell and the phone answers. But, the phone must be opened all the way in one complete action. Because, if, for example, the phone is opened 25% and then it snaps shut while someone's elderly hands get a better grip on the phone... it will answer... and then hang-up. (one would expected the phone to function).

  • My mom has vision problem. Can I set phone so she answer calls without pressing button, just open the cover?"

  • Does this phone work in Iraq with local SIM card and prepaid card?

  • Hi, can this phone usable in Singapore??

  • Sadly, the Rugby III is a step back form the Rugby II in terms of durability. The front is very easily scratched / damaged in comparison, the lanyard attatchment is MUCH better on the RugbyII. The III is also needlessly (but slightly) bigger than the II. This is all very puzzling, a new model way less rugged in the "rugby" series.

  • Robust Phone,next to Siemens.

  • The phone is awesome. Lucky to be on Telus as it is exclusively on Telus.

  • Please continue or improve the flip flap fones they were good compare to the slides one. very much cool.!

  • why is that it is exclusively for at&t only (wtf).. i love the design of this phone. i hope it will available in the Philippines and for everyone who likes this. hoping that samsung will see all the positive opinions about this phone.

  • Malaysia'Malaysia,'Malaysia.Announce this phone in Malaysia

  • will it totally work with a t-mobile sim card ,, picture text ,etc.. '' all functions ''

  • I live in Australia. I just got the phone and there is a lot useless AT&T apps on it. Can they be removed? How do you connect to the internet with this phone? [email protected]

  • Seeing that that phone does not even have spell or grammar check, I would doubt that it's any good.

  • Why so many people bash clamshell phones? or think they are retro? tons of people use them as a complement.Car/others industries make segments, the phone industry builds 1 smartphone and 40 derivatives each year.Hope manufacturers go back and build quality flip phones.

  • I want to have this phone as an alternative to my smartphone, I may be in some places that my smartphone can not withstand such as water and dust. I think this is the cheapest phone version of Sonim. There's always an audience for this kind of phone. Sony's Xperia Z is cool but I also want to avoid other people stealing high priced smartphone hahaha so it's okay if I have this. Won't hurt my pocket really. =)

  • It is a nice clamshell phone. Unluckily we won't get it in Italy. I think that good clamshell can still have a market but they need, at least, a decent display like this one. Nice job Samsung!
