its a problem of connection operator, the phone is fine. You have to tell your cable operator to activate MMS settings, then everything will be fine

hi, I have a E890 I think that its a great phone but the left side has gone dead allready since I got it in November so I can't use the touch on that side. The camera on the phone could be a little better but I overall I would give it an 4 out of 5 and would reccomend it.

I got this phone for Christmas and it works perfect. one of the draw backs is that you can't change the tone for messages. but i have to say it has a good durability cause my nephew keeps throwing it whenever he gets his hands on it and i have never had any problem. It's not a good phone, I bought it form 1 year. now the touch screen is dead. also I found a big issue in its mp3, if you left the mp3 in pause your battery will go empty in 2 hours. but I think the main issue it's java installation. There is no way to install java application, the only way is through the downloading from the internet. also the wap browser is not supported by the touch screen.

i had this phone for 3 weeks now its everything i need + touch i been looking at touch screens for awhile and i saw this on ebay for 150 + shipping new i had to get it. and yes you can use your fingers or stylus no it doesnt slide. the only thing its missing is radio the cam is ok but video is good i have a digital cam i could care less anyway its a great phone for cheap price!! i cant find any good reviews or support for this phone which sucks. i guess they looked over this phone mp3 player is loud ringtones are loud touch screen works great what more can i say you want be disappointed im with t-mobile and i havent had any echo problems. also you can set up mms and internet threw t-mobile website make sure you get a nice case for it you dont want to drop this beautiful phone any more questions?

Okay, called me stupid... but... does this phone have a key pad or is it all done by touching the phone screen and if so do you have to use the stylis or can you just do it with a finger??? If it has no key pad it would be very hard to get used to... please answer. I have been looking for a phone that has internet access, a big screen, voice recognition and bluetooth etc. This looks good but that part I just don't understand.

i had this phone 4 a year but i needet the cash so i had to sell it the media player is good the only dislike is you have to add your songs to a playlist and you have only 4 playlists of 30 songs each when i play it 4 more than 2 hours it starts heating up a litle camara is good you can transfer songs from pc to the phone via bletooth

I got it when it first came out, which is Oct 06...but more then a month ago, my phone buttons stopped working..the screen still works..but its stuck at a cetain screen and cant get out. I really liked the touch screen feature...but when you speak on the phone..the person you are talking to will hear their own echo which is very annoying. Also, when you are talking on the phone, you can't go to the main menu which I found not convenient.

For those who have problem with name not coming up when SMS arrives. You need to have your phonebook listed by last name, rather than first name. Go to "menu" > "management" > "list by" and choose "last name", and your problem will go away. Your next problem will be that you need to search your phonebook by last name. Solution to that is to write full names of your contacts in only "last name" space and leave "first name" empty...

Hey. We understand that you had a bad time with your phone, but please don't generalize that Samsung products are a waste of money. You're carried away by your emotions. And besides, that happened in Thailand. We have good service here in the Philippines, and i surmise, in other parts of the world as well. Don't badmouth Samsung, please. Especially this phone, the SGH-E890. I've had an N70 before, and I gladly replaced it with the E890. I find the negative comments here very shocking because to date, since I bought my phone last December 2006, basically I have never had a problem with it. Of course, condoning the light scratches on the screen and housing. And for those people who had lost their stylus, you can but a new one from any techie stores. Hope this post helps.

I bought this phone in Thailand about 3 months ago and it came with 5 yrs warranty which ones would absolutely need it. Within 3 months, the phone was in the shop to get fixed more than it's been with me. I had to send it in 5 times, each time took 2 to 4 weeks and they still can't fix the problem. The problem is that every so often it would say "limited service" on the screen for no reason what so ever. When that happened you can't receive call or make call until you turn it off and back on again. I didn't have to be anywhere in particular, it could happen where the signal strength is strong. The dealer sent it in the 4th time and Samsung supposedly had changed the board but same problem still happen so I sent it in for the 5th time and Samsung finally agree to return my money which I've yet to received. Other than that problem the phone itself is pretty cool with all the bells and whistles. However, the problem it had couldn't be fixed and Samsung doesn't care enough to keep their customer happy so this is the one and only Samsung phone I and my friends or family will ever buy. If you've read this review I would recommend that you stay clear from Samsung phone. Bad product, bad service, a total waste of money and time and effort.

good luck. I needed mine serviced Samsung USA told me to contact Samsung Malayisa, Samsung Malayisa told me to contact Samsung USA. Then they tell me i have to bring it to a service center in Malayisa. WHen i tell them im in the US so after the runaround for a MONTH from samsung never got anywhere. I will never get a samsung phone again its near impossible to get it fixed.

to get ride of ECHO : Steps to remove echo: 1: Open Dialer 2: Type *#8999*8378# 3: Test Mode menu will appear 4: Select 2.H/W test 5: In H/W test menu select 2.Audio Settings 6: In Audio Settings menu select 1.Normal 7: In Normal menu scroll down and find HFR gain 8: Change the value to 25 (you can try other values if you like to play with it. this is the one that worked for me) 9: Press Save and then Save again. Then Exit the menu. Try and see if it worked. THIS SOLUTION FOR ME HAS WORKED IN ELIMINATING THE ECHO PROBLEM DURING A CALL IN NORMAL MODE. I HAVE ECHO NOW WHEN I USE THE LOUD SPEAKER BUT FOR ME THAT IS ACCEPTABLE. DO THIS IN YOUR OWN RISK. *** you should also write down the original value of HFR gain just in case you need it in the future*** To Vianca: if by speakers you mean the headphones mine work OK. both of them. you probably need a new set. To Kate: try the voice recorder to see if it records your voice. also try using the hands free set to see if the other person can hear you this way. If the voice recorder records your voice then the phone's mic is ok. but i have no clue where the problem might be if the mic is ok.

This phone does NOT have a flash for the camera. the specifications on this site are wrong about this. Also there is no document viewer (Picsel or any other). The E900 has the Picsel viewer. On E890 you can copy documents (word, powerpoint, excel, PDF etc) in the memory, but cannot view them on the phone. and as far as i know, you cannot install the picsel viewer on this phone. if someone else had any luck with this or knows another software that works, let us know @Vianca are you sure there are 2 speakers (Left and Right) on this phone?? i thought there is only one. petros

Then: Profile name:MMS Server URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms Proxy: Enabled Click on GPRS Settings IP address: 216.155.165.50 Port:8080 APN: Login: Password: Press save Version: 1.2 Save again Then go to the Multimedia-Current Profile Make sure the button next to MMS is pressed I am not sure if your phone is programed the same as mine but I just got mine out of the box, unlocked and unbranded, an hour ago. After doing this I took a picture of myself and sent it to myself. It let me send it then about 10 seconds later I recieved a message of a sexy mf (me)!! Now if someone can just help me find a way to make my caller ID work. Everyone rings in as "Unknown". I did the hard part, geez...

We got 4 new E890 phones, my brother and his wife got theirs but mine and for my wife are being shipped so probably we'll get them this week. MMS messaging... Unfortunatly the info that T-Mobile sent me is customer specific so I'm not going to be able to post it. Try contacting them again. Ask for technical support. Explain that you're having problems with your MMS. Tell them that it is a phone that they do not support. They should be able to figure it out. If they are being stupid e-mail me and I'll see what I can do.

LOL I think one of speakers is broken. I accedently covered the right speaker while I was listening to my MP3's and the left speaker was really quiet. The right speaker still works. I was having a problem with my MMS MESSANGER also so I called T-Mobile and told them I had an unsupported phone and they sent me a text with all the info my phone needed and all I had to do was install it. They did the same thing for my WEB BROWSER.

I also contacted T-Mobile and they were unable to assist me with changing the settings in order to receive them. I have a problem with my Samsung E890. The problem is when I make a phone call, I can hear someone on the otherside but the receiver cannot hear my voice at all. I tried the secret code feature and change the HFR from 12 --> 25 but the problem still exists. Please tell me if there is anyway to fix such problem.

To �zg�r : i don't have such a problem. but now i can't use the speaker while on call. it seems there is echo there now. don't really care about it though. the other thing i have messed up is the volume on the media player. when i mute the volume it plays on full power :) am looking for a way to fix this as well. i'll see if anything is fixed

hi there, has anyone faced this problem with this phone... i bought this phone for not more than 1 month, but have sent to SAMSUNG service for 3 times due to the device blackout and never come back. So damn tired with this phone,,,, and the SAMSUNG service isn't providing good services. The 1st time, the reflash the whole software, that one took like 2 days. The 2nd time took me 2 weeks, and they told me they sent to KL and they have changed the power IC or wat.... but to me, it was still the same "Reflash software"..cos after 1 day,,the phone black out like b4. This time the 3rd time, they are going to change the board,,,but i think it will still be the same laaa.,,, you know la,,Malaysian,,,do work... they reflash the software,,,leave ON for 2 days...then nothing happen,,,they declare,,,,OK.... sucks !

Petros, Thank you so much for your fix for the echo problem. I did exactly as you said and changed the HFR gain to 25 and now the echo is gone completely. The echo was driving my friends nuts!! The original HFR was 12.

i was messing around with the secret menu ( *#8999*8378# ) to fix the echo. You type the code for the menu, then go to 2. H/W test, the to 2. Audio Settings, then 1. Normal, go down and find the HFR gain (Harmonic-to-Fundamental Ratio). The original value for HFR gain on my phone is 12. i changed it to 50, and asked a friend to call. he said there was no echo, but there was a lot o noise in my side of the line. i changed the value again to 25. i have asked everyone that have called me since i changed this, and noone had any echo problems. let's hope this is a permanent solution. so can anyone else try this and confirm it?? At your own risk of course but it's a very straightforward thing to do. i case it doesn't work for you, just change it back to the original value. If you do this can you post the original value, and the new value you have entered? For those who don't have the echo problem, can you post your HFR gain value? just to double check. i hope this work's for everyone..

great phone exelent sound quality only the battery drain fast and the browser is slow loading images some times . if you surf the net with it you bether download operamini. if you do a lot of texting this may not be the right phone for you. exelent camara quality

Yes, you can set mp3's as ringtones and if you download the PC Studio software you can even edit the music, if you know what I mean.

This phone isn't supported by my sevice provider so to get the web browser I had to call them and tell them that I had an "unsupported phone" and they walked me step by step on how to set it up and they also helped me with my picture messages cuz I wasn't able to send or receive them. I still don't know what's going on with the "bilingual" dictionary and why it doesn't have English. Also I'm pretty sure this phone doesn't have a flash cuz where would it be? It only has the camera lens in the back and nothing else. Oh and I bought a 2Gb memory card and I haven't had any problems so far.

@Wendy: how did you fix the echo problem? in my phone is not always there. but when it happens is really annoying. i even tried to change a few things from a hidden menu (type *#8999*8378# at your own risk) but nothing changed. as for the E on the top of the screen is for the EDGE. try this (although they are for the GPRS #*7287# - GPRS Attached #*7288# - GPRS Detached For the java games and apps the only way i've managed to install new ones, is to download them from net using WAP/GPRS. My old SE T630 can get the java files through bluetooth and install it. Anyone found another way for this??

after you register, you need to send an MMS to yourself,,,,after few hours,,, only you are able to use it. try it. for the echo problem,, i did not face it, why some of you got it? maxis server problem,,,not the phone .

hi all, this is a great phone, i just bought it for 1 month,,,and now was sent to Samsung warranty ^_^... is a smart phone but not ment for heavy duty. I shot photo and video,,,on and off,,,, suddenly the phone cannot be started. :) no harm,,just the software problem like NOKIA N series. Good phone,,, ok to buy,,no dout. No flash for this phone sorry... video res very high,,higher than some other phones. 1.3 Mega Pixel for photo shooting is good enough. Memory stick up to 1G more than enough for you to play with. for the Java game,,,not really tested it yet. :)

E890 and E898 are the same phones. E890 does not have a flash (at least mine doesn't - the manual also mentions nothing about a flash). The only differences are that the E898 has more memory and dictionary.

u can get rid of the echo if you lower the volume of the speaker while on call (by pressing d left side key)...set it 3 or 4...

Well..first saw the phone 2 days ago..and liked it very much. Especially on the touch screen panel. Well...Like it most because of the big display. However, this is what i found after having some hands on the phone. So far, there's no echo problem. But i am facing is that there is no id display on the message that i received. Though some yeah..it came together with the id display. But some not. So far...has anyone encounter this issue?

Battey life can be expanded by completely using up battery until phone turns off automatically. Then charge the battery for around 8 hours even though green light is lighted up. Do this a few times, and battery will become normal. Battery is like this because its been in storage and because it's being used for the first time... As for the memory card limit, Samsung says that upto 512MB is supported. But their are reports of people succesfully using 2GB cards. I don't know whether the E890 will capable. Basically depends on the phone's firmware.

Echo problem because of the touch screen (I believe) It seems that phones with complicated hardware setups all have this problem... Take the PALM TREO for one. Instead with the TREO phone, call quality is kinda bad..... For now, I suggest we live with the problem and you could try turning the VOICE CLARITY on this feature (not sure whether it will work or not...)

@F4pr --> i experienced the same thing when receiving a text message. The picture of the sender doesn't come out. Maybe this is exclusive for the call features because everytime i received a call...the pictures comes out (even an mp4 file would do) Overall, I like the phone. Very trendy and stylish!

I've been using this phone for 3 days. excellent phone, needs some time to get use to since you dont have a QWERTY keboard layout on the screen. but the handwriting recognition is excellent. the stylus slides on the screen very smoothly just writing on a piece of paper! it would have been slightly better if you are able to draw on the photos youve taken so you can send them to your friends and family. i'd probably give this phone a 7.5 out of 10.

Here's my mini review of the phone after having used it for a week. Phone Design: This is one good looking phone. Light, slim and classy looking. Some might see it as too feminine but believe me its not. The user interface has no indication of that. Fits really well to a medium sized palm. The screen is HUGE even though this is not a smartphone. It goes without saying that the screen is absolutely gorgeous; bright, vivid and clear. User Interface: The E890 occupies a unique position here as this is the first phone from Samsung that utilizes the touchscreen for its functionality. This explains the huge screen. What this means is the screen is the keypad, the mp3 player, the camera etc. The use interface follows the same concept used in the Ultra series. The only difference is there is no uMenu. Mobile tracking is available though. Messaging: Since everything is done via the touchscreen, the user needs to get used to it and this is very obvious when it comes to messaging. There are 3 ways for text input. This is done either by handwriting using the stylus (yes, a stylus is supplied), keypad (the usual way but on a touchscreen of course) or keyboard (quite useless, not in QWERTY format). Text input with the stylus via the keypad is the fastest way if you have not mastered the touchscreen yet. I use my thumb for that as I used to own a Palm so I am familiar with the touchscreen format. The screen is very responsive. I wouldnt advice users to tap on the screen with their thumb if they happen to have a relatively larger thumb. It will be a frustrating experience for you. Text input via the handwriting way is slow because you need to write each letter one after another. Not so convenient if you are used to fast typing on the keypad. Call quality: No issues here. Calls are clear and no echoes. Searching for contacts can be a bit tedious though with the screen. Ringtones are loud and clear. For those of you who have been complaining about Samsung phones not having both the vibration and ringtone option, well this phone has it now. Multimedia: MP3 sound is average. Not bassy enough. Camera takes average pictures. Video player is great. Can display videos in widescreen format because of the large screen display. I converted all my music videos using the samsung PC studio software (downloaded from the net) and watch them using the phone. Very nice indeed. Battery life: Expect to charge it once after every 36 hours under heavy use. Heavy in this sense means using the phone to surf the net, make a couple of calls, a few sms, bluetooth etc. Using the bluetooth is a must since the phone does not come with a data cable. Bluetooth consumes a lot of energy however. Without bluetooth, the battery lasts much longer. Here's the Pros and Cons: Pro: 1. Gorgeous head turning design 2. Large screen with one of the best displays out there 3. Touchscreen creates a novelty factor and uniqueness in the non-smartphone/PDA-phone hybrid market 4. Watch videos in widescreen format! 5. Mahjong game included in the phone is highly addictive if you know how to play mahjong :-) 6. Vibration+ringtone option is available 7. Call quality is good. 8. Navigating the menu icons using the thumb on the screen is easy and cool 9. It could be a wonderful solution for chinese text input. Cons: 1. Messaging can be frustrating for some. 2. Battery life is short if Bluetooth is frequently used. 3. MP3 sound is not bassy enough 4. Average picture quality from the camera 5. No data cable is supplied. Summary: The Samsung E890 is a unqiue touchscreen phone that does not any PDA-like functions. In fact, it is just like any other phone with the exception of a touchcreen. If you want something really different and you value aesthetics more than functionality, this is the phone to get. For those who want their phones to do eveything aka take great pictures, high quality MP3 player, etc, then you should go for Sony Ericsson.

I just got this phone today. Its really amazing. Of course, it takes a little while to get used to the touchscreen especially when writing messages. The only downside is searching for contacts is a bit more tedious compared to other phones. The rest of the features are great and the price is affordable. I got it for RM1050(USD291).
