I've had this phone for over 4 years now and it has never once given me a problems. I switched to SEM Vivaz and within 2 years the phone started giving me problems. this phone is best for rough and tough use.. i've dropped the phone a million times but it never once stopped working.. it still in a gud working condition. going to keep this as a back when i upgrade again..

i had this phone for 2 years. right after the garanty, it broke down on me: speaker is broken. the phone only vibrates now and the person on the other side of the line does not hear my voice. so, its totally useless. i searched this problem and apprently its very common with this phone. i say pass this model.

I have had my G600 for about 4 years now and have never encountered any problems that a battery pull did not fix. The camera's massive 2560X1920 resolution has kept me happy with pretty high quality photos. The EDGE feature has always been a plus, especially when so many phone around that time were still running WAP. The only feature I dislike is the phone's inability to scroll through pictures on the memory card while simultaneously viewing them. otherwise it's the best phone I've owned thus far. Now I'm looking to upgrade to a handset with at least WiFi connectivity, amoung other features.

You can improve the sound quality and loudness, by putting the phone in test mode and changing a few parameters. Java games or apps need jad files, not only jar files. You also can change the lock/unlock behavior.

I had this phone for 2 years now and i noticed many disatvantages, here are the problems: 1.the sound quality and loudness is very bad. 2.this phone is so slow especialy when i play music on it and doing somthing else. 3.if you like playing java games u can forget it on this mobile,every game i had was crashing,and you cant instal downloaded .jar files from pc 4.Battery life is very short,my stand by is 20 h. 5.there is no unlock button on the side like in many phones. if you can live with this problems than this phone is great for you.. but imgoing for the nokia n8

yes this phone is a good buy i personally have one everything's good except when it comes to editin the photos on the pc when transferred from yhe phone it cannot auto fix crop nothing wel atleast in mines, many people buy this phone for the great camera but whats good is it when you cant move it to your pc...so if a pic needs rotatin you just have to leave it because it would say cant save an when you cancel the save the picture just disappears ....if any1 had this problem an resolved it can post what has to be done please i would really appreciate it thank you

I absolutly agree with what you say,i love the sound options and ive had no trouble with it..Its a bit slow but gets the job done with clarity and caera is superb.I used this at an airshow and frame rate is bit slow but its fine fotos are crisp ..I think it looks stylish and would not hesitate rebuying it over todays touchscreen junk. The trouble with buying another one is mine is fine there is nothing to change or complain about just does the job and does it fantastically.

Hey man, go to Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > USB Settings, and you can try changing it from PC Studio to Media Player or Mass Storage. I set it "Ask on connection" so I can choose depending on why I need to connect the phone. For some reason, Windows 7 does not recognize my phone when it is in PC Studio mode.

i have this phone for more than a week now. nothing to complain. it freezes a lot but only for a few seconds when im trying to put my password or using calculator. sounds is pretty good. the battery life sucks though. i dont even use this to make a call just receiving txt and it only lasts less than 2 days. what more if i use the mp3 and some other stuffs like cameras and video. 5 megapix is overrated because the quality is not really 5 megapix more like 3 thought but this phone has a lot to offer so g600 is a good buy.

Loved this phone! I had it for 2 years and only swapped because im clumsy and it is really scratched and also wanted a touch screen! This is a nice simple phone but with the added extra of a slide and a better camera! Would totally have bought one again if touchscreens hadnt come out!

If you have [problems seeing the lcd screen when using the slide on the phone you need a new Ribbon/Flex fitting, then it will be good as new.

Had this phone for almost 2 years. Incredibly clumsy OS and incredibly buggy. Turns off often and charger port has failed. Never been dropped, and has been treated like gold. No customisable MP3 message tones and only 200 SMS's max capacity (both inbox and sent combined) Not a phone I'll recommend to anyone. Stay away!!! Rather buy a Nokia.

Well at first I was hesitant on buying a slide phone, because I've heard a lot of bad experiences with it from friends. Thankfully though, G600 is very sturdy for a slide phone. I've dropped it countless times (I'm that careless) but it still works pretty fine. It still snaps properly. The only problems I ever had with this phone are (1) that sometimes, it shows the wrong name of sender when I go to inbox, (2) the sounds are not so loud, and (3) the keypad sucks. And although it says on the specifications that loud speaker can be enabled for calls I still don't know how to do it (well this one's not exactly the phone's fault). All in all it's a great phone, very sleek, cam is okay albeit slow when taking pics, pretty capable for usual activities like texting and calling, and best of all, very sturdy. Affordable as well.

just ending my 18month contract with this phone (i got the belle version)it has been lovely as have all samsungs i have used and so i will continue to choose samsung. the phone is very easy to use and attractive due to its bright display and the numbers on the keypad being seperated from each other more than other phones. also very sturdy-did not even break when it was dropped in the road etc. camera takes good photos-but you do have to have a steady hand. only weakness is the battery-some people have said how it dies down very very quick and i suppose i agree. i always have my phone on (even at night) so charge it when asleep, however if i miss a night it quickly drops in charge.

The main point: il lacks "image stabilisation". Even if you move a little bit your hand, the photo becomes blured, not to tell about shanking it a little more. The construction of the phone could have been stadyer also. The battery drains very quik. The price doesen't match with it's expectations.

I have had the Belle for a year and a half now and it's one of the best phones I've ever owned (and I'm a bit of a mob geek since I started using one about 13 years ago) The battery life is great and I'm a heavy texter/caller and web-user. I'd definitely recommend this phone to peeps who want a good phone at a good price. The only down-side really is the camera - it can take fantastic pictures even in a dark room but having a steady hand is required otherwise the pics will be slightly out of focus. All in all 9/10 for this phone (it does what it's meant to)

Your best bet would be a sony-ericsson with a 3.2MP or so camera yes, though this does 'boast' a higher resolution the image quality itself isn't that great on the default settings and it's kinda hard to take good pics with a shakey hand. The video recording function works like a treat though.

Great functional and practical phone overall, it gives you the option to either keep it simple or modify almost anything. Here's a list of some things I found particularly neat to have on it: -Lovely theme editing options if you like to fiddle with that though some things are a bit weird (list text and information are specified as the same colour) and an extra option to edit themes on the PC would've been nice. -Sturdy feel overall, the slider still snaps properly even after using it for a while. The screen also very scratch resistant from what I experienced so far. -You know how they always have a browser link on one of the buttons in the main screen, so you open it accidentally sometimes and get charged high for mobile net use if you don't have it in your subscription package? Yeah you can remove that link on this phone but not the function, you just make it go "URL empty". I love the option to remove it since I never use mobile internet. -It also has a simple image editor which is nice if you MMS or email a lot with your phone, might even be suitable for quick mobile blogging. -Calls sound great, unlike most phones which sound really harsh and overly sharp on the "S" and "P" sounds when recieving a call. -The phone can be used as a modem for your laptop if you use mobile internet on it, on both bluetooth or the USB. -Among the usual stuff this phone's bluetooth supports stereo headsets, basic printing and phonebook exchanges. -Wide selection of currency converter, though I'm guessing it can't be updated to the latest exchange rates. -The videos shot with the camera are actually very decent. -Another cool thing is that even when you lost your charger like I did, you can still use the USB cable that comes with it to charge it properly though it takes a little longer. I'm guessing most phones these days have this support but as far as I know most don't come with the USB cable in the box. The only bad things I found so far on this phone are: -The fact that the 5 megapixel camera is a bit bad compared to others, comparing my pictures with those taken from an older sony-ericsson model with half the camera resolution (both set on the highest quality and autoISO). The bad appearance of pictures is mostly due to the image-noise the camera produces on the autoISO mode, I suggest to set it on ISO100 right away to reduce this. Also beware that taking pictures drains the battery pretty fast even without 'flash'. The camera does come with a few cool functions like the mosaic shot and panorama shot modes, the colour options are pretty useless and far from subtle. The pictures look just OK enough if you size them down to a web posting resolution, here's one example of a picture I took on autoISO and highest image resolution: (cropped and resized in Adobe Fireworks CS3) -No room for a cellphone charm/strap, I'm not a big fan of these myself but it's a bit strange since they could've easily made it on one of the back corners without imposing on the design or inner electronics. -The last bad thing and probably most annoying is the Samsung PC Studio software that's required to get pictures or put pictures on your phone, it says the phone is connected on USB but it very often gives an error that the phone is busy with another operation. I'm not sure if it has support for 4GB microSD memory cards as I don't use it as an mp3 player, 2GB is plenty for the pictures and videos I make at times.

hi when i had blue toothed somee songs onto my phone the tried to access them it did the same it turned itself off and back on i found that i was because i had a corrupted song on there and when i deleted it i could then access my songs so i may be that you have downloaded a corrupted game and have to delete it, hope this helped. x

Just bought the pink version of this model a month ago. The macro/auto-focus option in the camera is a little tricky some of the images despite boasting a 5-megapixel camera are still blurry for my taste. And the finishing, my goodness its so smooth that it tends to slip from my hands when I slide it open or close. So far its working well for me.

hi all well, im slightly disapointed with the samsung g600 and want to know if a couple of things are solvable: -the pics still very blurry if you shake just a little bit...lowering the resolution solves it? -can you rotate the pictures your laptop/desktop at home? i cant grrr -do you have probs with long incoming sms? they come broken and cant read them :S -most camera/video settings automatically go to default even after u change them? with g600 i have to constantly reset my saved photos/videos to memory card, reset flash/resolution/etc settings, coz they always go back to default argh i bought it for 179 euros more than a year ago which was a great price for a 5mp camera then but its a very disapointing camera. The sound, size and looks are good though. thx for any help

Hi, I managed to download it via the web browser, it seemed to download fine, however when you go to load it, it gets to three quaters loaded and then goes no further. Personally I wouldn't bother, however it could just be that my G600 is faulty. Hope that helps

I have had this phone since December 2008 & have to say, I'm rather disappointed with it. The camera & music player take ages to load up, the internet browser on it is lousy & when I installed the Mini Opera Browser it fails to work properly. Not only that Google Mail keeps failing and Google Maps doesn't want to load at all. All in all I think this is the worst phone I have ever owned & several other friends who have also owned the phone also agree. Perhaps they had a faulty batch of these in East London, I don't know, but it's one I'd avoid to be honest

I have a Samsung G600 and i've had it for over a year now. It's the best phone I've ever had; the amount of times I've dropped it into the bath, and it still works. It's very easy to use too. I want a new phone, a more recent one, but I don't want to get rid of the one I have. A D600 doesnt have the qualities as a G600 does, I know this as my sister used to have this phone. A G600 is slimmer and lighter. Hope I have helped.

I think you may need a memory card to do that, but i'm not entirley sure. If you have a memory card, the try: Menu -> Camera -> Right Soft Key -> Settings -> (Picture of the Video Camera) -> Default Storage (Left button twice) -> Memory Card. Hope this helps!

Bought this phone for my mum who is 60 years of age. she loves take pictures of her grandchildren. Found that she was not able to permanently set the text style to large. She needs to change the setting each time she used the SMS function. The text messaging is also a bit too fast at time. if you are a tad slow in picking your letter then the cursor moves forward causing you to make a number of text errors. It is also not easy to switch on the dictionary functionality. Overall not suitable phone for the novice phone user.

My opinion is not to buy this phone. I am having this phone from last1 yr. I found some basic disadvantages in this phone: 1. very less customizable. you can't change even keypad lock setting. It locks automatically even when u listening music and to change track or FM station, you first unlock the keypad and then go on. 2. Camera is 5 mp but Nokia n73 have better image quality with only 3.2 mp. 3. You can't set your favorite tone as message ringtone. 4. Slower performance. 5. You can't install any other application even no flash files, java files are supported. 6. No upgraded firmware has been provided for this mobile since last 2 yrs.

well, the fact it says there are not MP3 ringtones is untrue, as it does. However, this Phone is, in all a peice of ****** i was so pleased when i got it, as it looks really aesthetic and supposedly has a 5mp camera. until i used the camera, and found my husbands phone camera was 3 times the quality even though its only 1.3mp in comparison with my supposed 5mp? and then its also incredibly slow, and i cant zoom in on pictures. and i could think of a long list of other reasons i now hate it.

I'm thinking of getting this phone. One question: My present Samsung sounds an alert when an SMS is received and repeats the alert every five minutes or so until it is viewed. Some phones only sound once, so that if you miss the alert you are unaware that there's a message waiting. So, does the G600 sound an alert every five minutes until viewed (GOOD) or just once (BAD) ?

I bought this phone because it is one of the very few which has the most important function to record from Radio. Most manufacturers do not not offer this because they prefer to sell music. Til now I have not fully understood the concept with which records are handled. The division between data type, music type and storage place and type is confusing. In addition, the technical writers sometimes refer to MP3-Player, at other times to Music or Music Player. There are 'My files', in them is 'Music' and 'FM radio clips' and 'Memory card'. In the 'Memory card', there is 'Music', 'Sounds', and 'Records'. In 'Settings', there is 'Memory settings', and there 'Default memory', and there I set 'FM Radio' to 'Memory card', of course. Problem now: If one hits Music player, only the FM records stored in the shared (internal) memory are considered. Hence, in order to play the vast majority of these records on the memory card, I have to look for them there first. That is wrong. Interestingly, there is not function for setting which type of storage is to be used for playing music!

I have gotten this mobile phone. I got it last xmas in a shop here in malta. The phone has an orange label at the back... But i would like to remove the go mobile logo i ve got inside but am not allowed to do this. My friend has the same phone and she was able to do this... Am I the only one who experiences problems with the Bluetooth? I've paired it to my BF's navigation, my own portable navigation, as well as the Blue Ant that's compatible to this phone. It gets disconnected within seconds after being connected. I tested my BF's phone on the same devices and his works fine. I love this phone so much but will have to part with it since I can't get the Bluetooth to function properly.

Hi Winnie you can't. But you can for ring and alarm tones but they need to be in your phone memory and not on memory card if they are move the songs/tones you want to your phone! Good luck

Go to My Files then Downloaded images- select-view from there you can scroll through pictures using you left/right buttons. If it still won't let you then try moving or copying the picture from your memory card to your phone memory. Remember also that the picture you select for your contacts will only show up when the person rings you but not when they send a text msg. Is just the way the Samsung g600 is. Good luck

this phone realy disapointing me,the camera is too much on white and it cannot make a good balance of white and it has a circle when you redress cam.to a shine spot and the stabilizer simms to be gone,you cannot change the message tone,but most important,the phone is really slow,and it has a bad battery,in media 2 days of workin',and not verry much work.I have a Sonyericsson K750i and it's a lot better than this though is an kind'a old phone.Sorry,but it's my opinion

G600 does not have 3G, I am unhappy to say because my contract allows me 20 minutes video calling! Good contract, Orange �15 monthly 100 minutes and unlimited (but the 'fair usage' rule limits you to 3000 which is more than enough!) but about the phone, good size, brilliant with the theme creator, 5 mp camera, other fantastic stuff! If anyone is um-ing and er-ing whether to get the phone then GO FOR IT! One question though - what really is the bit on the front? * Anonymous you can assign call ring tones but not message tones, although some says otherwise, that you can assign message tones, but i think that was with the newer firmware installed. * Wakatsik you can never change the view setting of the gallery to thumbnails because only when using the phone memory will enable you to do so * Milesy the flash meu on the camera interface will go back to off setting every time you exit the application. auto flash means the phone will determine how the subject is well lit or not, if so, it will not flash the led light, if not then it will. however, you may find the photos taken on a well lit subjects to become dim when the setting is fill flash (keeping the flash on always wether or not the subject is well lit). pressing the hash (#) key once to activate the flash to auto won't hurt you. to keep the photos not to bright then deactivate the flash if it seemed that your subjects are that bright, that is why the phone has a setting on the flash to auto flash itself. *Dan no, you can't. rather avoid applying pressure on the button. * Anonymous you can never change the camera viewfinder to portrait because it is meant to be controlled on the landscape side, for better usage of the dedicated camera button and to have that digital camera feeling while using it. * abdel jafar u. ond the phone does not offer viewing the photos stored in the memory card in landscape mode. for me, i recommend saving it all to phone memory, check the available memory from time to time and clear space as necessary, i transfer old and not so important photo files to the memory card to clear space, leaving behind the more important ones or worth viewing about. set the memory allocation of the camcorder to memory card since it eats a lot of space. well, that's only for me. hint: default memory allocation for the camera and camcorder will be set to phone memory once and every time the memory card is removed from its slot. * marmalaydegurl i don't think so, i borrowed my cousin's 4gb memory card, inserted it, checked the available memory and it showed 0kb. well for sure that means the phone does not support HCSD cards. i hope the newer firmware does. *K Singh no, you can't, once message counter has reached its capacity, all you have to do is delete messages. this phone does not have a 1000-160-character-message capacity that u600 has, quite disappointing.

Great phone... awesome features... nice camera! The profile builder is cool but there're 2 things i can't figure out (even from the manual and websites): 1. How to change the font size in MESSAGES and MENU fonts. U can change the fonts for the dialing numbers but not for the sms messages n menu items. 2. Short cut to lock the keypad? 3. I have had this for sometime now, and I still love the fone (mine is in pink), after moving from a Nokia, which is now boring. The only downside to this fone is the message alert tone (you cannot change it) or the calender tone (unless I am wrong), but at least the tones are short, and will save on battery life. Plus the text message amount is pretty poor, 200 in total. But I still like it, especially the theme creator.

it says on the specs that it can record 15fps for vga and some says its 30fps for qvga but when I took a sample video and use "avs video converter 5.6" to check for the frame rate, it's average fps is only 8fps. i tried different resolutions and video quality and frame rate is just 7-9 fps. i still havent update the firmware. im not sure if that can help.

Yes you can set the phone to bring up a pic and different ring tone as well as notify if sender is part of a group....I've had this phone for a year...and have just 'upgraded'(I think Samsung outdone themselves with this model!) to exactly the same model for another 12 months :)...Still haven't found anything as easy to use that would sway me to change my opinion.

Worst samsung I've had. On this model they've changed the features from simple, which made samsung so good, to over complicated. Like text messaging, cannot add words as after a week the word deletes itself, and to send a message it asks you multiple questions before you can actually send it. Camera is shocking too. All in all this phone has now put me off Samsungs. Looks good though......

Hi, just swapped to a samsung g600 from an old nokia. On my old phone, if someone sent you a sms with a phone number in it, the number would be underlined and you could either call the number direct from the sms, or save the number to contacts. This doesn't appear to be the case with the samsung? Am I being dim (it has been known) or is this a standard feature?

Hi, I had the same problem and I emailed the Samsung UK Service Center and even they couldn't help me, but I am pretty sure that I fixed it. When you get a picture message it probably gives you a summary of it before you tell the phone to "Retrieve" the photo or video. I came to the conclusion that this retrieval process is what was shrinking the images. So what you have to do now is go to Menu >Settings >Message Settings >Multimedia Messages >Receiving options And under the heading "Home Network" Move the option beneath to "Auto Download" instead of Manual. Otherwise it may be the person who is sending you the messages. test it by sending one to yourself. Good Luck.

I have the phone for a week now... Its strengths are: + Very nice looking + Very good solid body with metal finish + Very nice screen with nice colours + Excellent camera ( not as good in night scenes though ) + Excellent media player with nice flash effects + Great sound quality, the best ive heard from any mobile phone so far Its weaknesses are: - It must have a very slow CPU. It lags in Java apps, Copies from folder-to-folder etc. - To assign a mp3 ringtone the song must be in the internal memory - Menu icons seem unimaginative and boring ( luckily you can customize it a lot ) All in all, if you want a phone that you will pass a lot your time with it, dont even go near it. But if you want a phone with a good camera and great sound quality compined with a very nice price, thats the phone for you.

ive had this phone for 10 months now the bad things about this phone are: Cant use any other message tone other than the default ones You cant full screen view pictures unless they are in your camera album (the pictures you ve taken) The camera has a pretty bad zoom The phone lags a lot The phone's display isnt as great as other phones Games lag freaking crazily No 3g However the phone does have good features: It can view all your documents (doc,ppt,excel) Speakers are quite clear Camera takes some of the highest quality pictures Small and slim and light Video camera quality is awesome able to record 640x480 pixels The ability to create your own themes If you do get one i suggest you compare it with the g800 or the u900 they both have good features of their own and dont lag as much as the g600 otherwise choose another brand (:

Cool and simple with the latest features exlcuding those avaible in SmartPhones such as the N95. Relatively cheap for a 5 megapixel camera and good feel to the phone although mine does feel a little wobbly on the slide. Back of phone is cool even though its plastic. The screen easily gets fingerprints which is rather inconvenient. Relatively fast with an array of display options. Call quality is good on the whole. Video camera is better than on most other phones although the sound on the video is not the best. Camera is good with a good deal of options. Tip: use the highest resolution for optimum results. No major faults with this phone besides the slightly wobbly slide on the right which I experience.

yes just move or copy your mp3 song from your memory card to phone memory and then you use it as your incoming calls . go to setting and go to phone profile personalise it until u see ringtone and activate it

The N95 is by far a better phone, ive had it for 6 months the quality of the camera and video is amazing, you can link it to your plasma and its excellent. The only thing it does is freeze occasionally but i have since found out you have to upgrade the sofeware which is dead easy to do. The G600 isnt a patch on the N95 !

Hey i have had this phone for around 4 months an it is awesome...... Not like nokia at all.Its a java based phone.Only drawback is that the phone is a bit slow on the responce side..Thats it!!!! Camera IS SUPERB!!!!!!Better than most 5mp phones.....AND MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN N95.Video recordin is ok .Only 16fps.But on the plus side it has 640*480 resolution.........I dont think any phone in the same range would have that much. All in all a good phone.I would give 9 on 10.

G600 is an ok phone easy to use, battery life can be really good pends on how you charge your phone, best way to get a better life out of the phone is to charge it up while switched off and when using let it run down. Camera isn't too bad, seen better 5mp phones, it's the resolution that lets it down and plus need to have a steady hand when taking a picture. CPW 1641

if your phone restarts when running an application the games and application folder or on the galleries, maybe you have downloaded a corrupted file, protect the files you want to save, delete all and uncheck the "with protected files" in the deletion menu, then delete, this shall solve the problem. if it did not, then a full phone format should do.

there is no way that you can change the landscape view to portrait in the camera viewfinder. it is meant that way so the screen works full screen, and it is supposed to be used with the half shutter key situated just before the micro sd slot, just like a regular digital camera.

there is no way that you can lock the keypad of the phone when it is open. but it can when it is lid down. go to settings>phone settings>slide settings> down>choose stop operation

download the free jadmaker software from the net, download a jar file (240x320 resolution application), the application should be compatible with the phone, otherwise it won't run or will inferior than the compatible application. drag and drop the jar file to the jadmaker, it will create a jad file out of the jar file. copy both items to the other files on the phone memory, select the jad file and options>install. cheeers free applications, games, wallpapers and more, compatible for samsung g600 can be downloaded from www.mobile9.com hope i helped

You surely need to get a system upgrade. Call any outlet in Samsung outlet around SA, and they can give you some company's contact details where you can take the phone and get it sorted out for free. Or if you are around Gauteng, you can take it to vodaworld anytime and they will fix it for you.

I've had this phone for around 7 months and it is excellent multimedia phone. The built quality of the slide is top notch, picture quality is excellent (if you do not have shaky hands), an excellent mp3 function with 11 different sound effects and just all around very user friendly. The down sides are that you cannot use pictures that are stored in your memory card for: Caller ID and wallpapers because the images need to be stored in the phone memory, and since it is only 55mb, it's a pretty big downer. Camera pictures that are taken and saved to the memory card cannot be placed back into (My Photo) where it allows you to zoom onto the picture. Pictures uploaded to the phone and put into as a wallpaper would usually use the resolution of the picture so that means the pictures are zoomed into the center part of the pictures =(. All and all it really is a great phone and i highly recommend this phone for ppl that want a bang for their buck.

I've been having some problems with my G600. It switches off in the middle of applications, text messages and also incoming calls, then swithces itself back on again.I was told by a friend that it just needs a software upgrade, but can't find any sites or further info on this. I agree! I write articles for a tech review site and I have tested the K850i, the N95-4, and the N82, and the G600 takes pictures that are just as good! However, the video recording is not quite up to par with any of the N-series, but still beats Sony's QVGA!

Ashley, The G600 is an excellent phone, but quite different from the k810. Perhaps the first difference you will notice is that the G600 does not feel as solid as the k810, however this is because you are comparing a bar-style phone to a slider, and you will find that is always the case. I have always felt that Sony Ericsson phones have the best user interface of all brands, but the G600 is not all that different, and actually operates much faster than any Sony Ericsson phone, which you will notice. As for your question, you can assign just about any picture as a wallpaper/background on the phone, but the G600 does not support active screensavers. But be happy about your choice, it's an excellent phone!

Sadly, the G600 does not have stereo speakers like some other more expensive handsets. Samsung has long preferred to couple the loudspeaker with the normal internal speaker used during calls, which definitely weakens the overall loudness of the speaker. Music and calls handled through the loudspeaker sounds excellent and clear, but is not particularly loud. Hope that helps!

The touch sensitive portion of the U600 (athough it does look brilliant) causes tons of functional problems and often leads to exiting menus and programs without meaning to. I just got mine and this is the first time I've had a Samsung since the D900 and what an improvement! The D900 wasn't even bad but this is incredible for the price! In the last 6 months I've owned both the Nokia N95 and the SE k850i, and while the G600's camera is not quite as good, I actually think it really excels in many other ways, and does so at a fraction of the price! Goto Settings, then telephone-settings, then telephone-profiles. Choose any profile (usually 'normal'), Edit it, choose 'New Message' (2nd option). There are the wanted options.

179 euros with Pc cable, charger, headset and 256mb memory card here in Portugal at fnac for 1month at least ;) though i bought at the same time a 2gb Sandisk card for 14 euros. I don't hear anyone except one person complaining about the long incoming sms problem! I was going to buy the LG Orsey, which is slightly cheaper than the g600. However, i would only be able to buy it from phones4u which i didnt really want to do (they have a bit of a bad reputation) so i brought the samsung g600 instead. I have to say, i am very pleased with this phone. The camera quality is great, at night it produces reasnobally good pictures, during the daylight, they are fantastic. The mp3 player is very good and sound quality is great. I particularly like the fact that you can create your own themes, this is something i really like. Design wise its very stylish. The screen is clear and very colorful, and battery life is good too. I agree with the fact that this phone can only hold a 2gb memory card, i do have a 2gb card in the phone and it does slow the phone down a bit, dread to think how slow it would go if a 4gb card was inserted (if it worked at all). Another thing i dislike about the phone is the light sensor for the screen, sometimes it can get a bit erattic and change the screen's brightness from dark to light constantly in certain situations which can be quite annoying. However, this is a great little phone.

This one is one of the best phones that I ever used. The battery is just rite, all the functions that it carries are fun and easy to use. To top it all off, the 5mp camera works great for diff shots(the downside of this is that u gotta keep your hand stable while shooting otherwise some shots will be rather blurry). Overall, its a great phone for a decent price!

forgot to say, matrix exposure is a lot better in all areas because it calculates the exposure compensation on different areas of the picture, thus giving a more equal exposure distribution. matrix or evaluative metering center-weighted or average metering spot or partial metering.

go out on a sunny day, shot a vga and a cif reso video and see the difference, however, videos taken on dim subjects will probably lessen the frame rate. best settings for the cam is the highest resolution, automatic white balance and exposure, but you'll find pics better if white balance is set to fluorescent. don't use the flash on if your subject is well lit because it will just make the whole pic dimmer, rather set it to automatic also. have a steady hands when taking dim pics because, as you have said, it will blur. if you want to take a quick shot of the picture then just press the center button of the d-pad, if you wanted it be focused then use the half shutter. remember that your subject placed at the center (the 2 bracket located at the center of the camera viewfinder) is more likely to be focused. exposure metering means the distribution of exposure of your subject, use matrix for equal distribution of exposure on the entire picture, spot means calculating the exposure on a small spot located at the center of the picture, thus ignoring to calculate the exposure on its surroundings. while on center-weighted, it is mostly used for taking pics on a bright sky against a dimmer/darker landscape, mostly, center-weighted is much used as default. but it'll surely depends on the subject/s.

im afraid not. the broken messages are really to blame on the phone. I use 2 phones at a time so i can have better economy between different company calls/messages. I just changed back the G600 to the one i use less sms and my old nokia to the one that i ses more sms....and the nokia receives all sms perfectly including the long ones. The only problem with the G600 are the long sms (more than a full screen). Other wise it works great too. Maybe with firmware updating it can be solved?

i bought this phone about three weeks ago, the hone is great, sturdy body, metal finishings, screen glass kinda sensitive to scratches so i bought a screen protector. camera is good, although my recent samsung Z560 pics sizes rage from 400-900kb but this phone took pics amounting only 300-600kb in size, meaning it does not catch so much of the detail even if its a 5mpixel, although its still great. iso to 800 is also helpful on night shots, led is super bright, although you really have to chose still subjects because moving subjects create blurrs. rather use it for night time landscapes. video recording is 15fps on vga resolution, 30fps on cif, and can directly be stored on the memory card. watching it on fullscreen is great, just play the video on normal screen and quickly press the hash/number sign(#) key. pictures taken and defaultly saved on the phone memory can be viewed on fullscreen, but a bit cropped. saved directly on the memory card, no hope in full screen viewing. creating themes is also great, varying the each and every color, only 10 themes are alowed to be stored, and you can't create any further. speaker is not that loud but still, well, loud. the light sensor works fine, but i modified the settings of the display brightes to steady 5. because viewing bright screens on night time is great. its the only phone, i guess, that offers radio recording, and its so cool, recorded files are saved as mp3 of FM quality. the battery works fine, although if you keep on using the camera with the flash, it'll drain it quickly, but don't bother, switch it off for some minutes, switch it on again and you'll have your battery bars back. for those who often travels, i suggest you buy an extra extended battery and you won't miss perfect moments. that's for now. enjoy your phone, and don't ever compare it to gadgets like digicams and the like 'coz this is a phone.bye

thanks for the info. well i havent encountered any major problems with this phone. besides the unupdated firmware im also dissapointed with the 5mp camera, -pix has a lot of noise -it takes a few seconds to take and save the pix(in high resolution). -shaky hands = blurry pix -you need to be in a well lighted area to get a decent pix. -my 4mp kodak digicam is way better than g600's 5mp cam.

After my D600, which I loved, I was stupid enough to buy a U700, which nearly made me crazy with its touch sensitive keys and paint peeling. Then I got myself a G600. It's a great phone, love it as much as my D600. It's almost perfect, but Samsung seem to have a policy of not making the 100 % perfect phone. That's why you can't choose from more than 4 rather boring message tones and not create your own...

i also get that broken message sometimes, but i dont think its the phone since i also get that with my 2 previous phones. in case you get an incomplete message, the icon you will get is a torn letter icon. btw whats the best or highest setting for its cam? and whats the difference between matrix, center-weighted etc on cams options?

thks steven! really enjoying this phone has many cool features like rejecting calls from only determined ppl LOL writing sms, which i have for free, is simply great and better than nokias and SE! Fast access to numbers and to all sorts of symbols. The phone keys are also very responsive.....just one problem: i seem to be geting problems with incoming LONG sms's. I can only read the begining of them (1st 'page' so to speak) and then the following of the same sms comes separate in new sms which appear to me as broken and i cant read them!!! Maybe it's a problem with who sends them or with the operator company but i believe it's from the phone coz i never had this problem with my previous phones (nokias and SE). Anyone with this same problem? thkx

When you reveive a call, press the lower volume button for 1 second(left side of the phone) to stop the ringtone sound. You can create your own theme: Menu>Settings>Display Settings>My Theme.

Bought this phone and i like it very much! Nice slim slide phone with a great camera and video camera. Menus are pratical and very fast. Only one doubt...any key to silence the incoming call??? Both Nokias and SE i had had this feature! I use it for work and i receive a lot of incoming calls i simply want to silence for a bit without having to reject the call. Just got this phone 3 days ago and I think it's great. I do have one question: When I bought the phone I started taking pictures. When I checked them out I was able to view a full screen image simply by pressing #. After a while I changed some camera functions (resolution etc.) and now when I take pictures, I can't watch them full screen by using # key. Can someone help me with this please?

you need to flash your g600 to the latest firmware... which is a hassle since you need a special cable to flash it and carefully read the firmware update guide. with the latest firmware ive read that you can also change the sms tone to your prefered mp3. if anyone in the philippines know any samsung service center where they can update this phone for me (free) please tell me.

*when viewing the pix on thumbnails, it slowed down for me with some large picture files. *it cant show stored images in the memory on landscape mode, you cant even zoom *I dropped my g600 (3-4feet high) once on a sandy surface and it got a few dents all over. when opened it slightly wobbles too, ofcourse only when i shake the phone. *my 4mp camera is even sharper and produce less noise than g600 5mp. *i got my g600 more than a month ago and still cant use mp3 as sms tone. there is no theme edit options too unlike the one in the review section of gsmarena. *my g600 set has headset, usb cable, charger.

Everything seems great. The only thing that really bothers me is the contact list. I had to copy and delete contacts from my sim to the phone, and then edit each and every contact's name in order for it to look right. It only views the sim card way, rather than the phone way.

The thing on the front is the light sensor. It's not a camera. It's so the phone can sense the lighting in the room/outside and adjust the screen brightness accordingly.

Hey everyone I have this phone for a month now and all things work great. cam is good. music player and fm radio works fine. i've read before that you can record calls by typing some sort of keyword but haven't tried it yet. yes it has a 3.5mm audio adapter andit works great, just plug your favorite headphones. how ever i'm warning everyone who's planning to use big headphones with louder basses because it consumes a lot more rate of power than the regular ones. the effect is that it drains the battery faster than normal and thus decreasing battery life. soon your battery will last shorter than normal. so i'd recommend stereo earphones, not headsets

I have had this phone for near 2 months now, and I still do love it to bits!! It's my first Samsung and I think my first high quailty price phone. For me, I have no PERSONAL issues with the phone. Alot of people are talking about the picture quailty, music player etc and are making issues out of nothing. This is a phone, people forget that! The basic needs of a phone is to work and make calls! As long as it can do the basics, then you are fine! Especially if it has a fantastic look as the G600, and whatever else comes with it that you can play with like camera and music player, is really a bonus. I think we can get carried away sometimes. I've read reviews where by the sounds of it, some people are put off just because the camera is not as good as an actualy camera! It's a phone, deal with it! Personally for me, I have had no probs with it. Battery like is good, music player to me is phenomally clear considering that it is not an actualy mp3 player and all the features the phones comes with, bluetooth headset, headphones, 1GB Memory etc it's a fantastic buy. All in all, I think the review upabove sums it up in the fact that the Samsung G600 is an all round fantastic phone! A very good quialty phone that Does the essentials and comes with extra toys that is actually a good quality considering that it is a PHONE! I feel that alot of people compare their old phones to their new phones, or in general, just compare to the point where they do not appreciate what a phone has to offer. This phone, based on what I have read in the past, is a victim of that. I have had my G600 for almost 2 months and have had no probs with it at all. Alot of what I have read in the past, problems have been pointed out only just seem like a faulty batch phone, or small problems due to someone else's personal taste. This is an all round fantastic phone, the key word, phone!! Alot of people do compare functions on phones like camera, music player etc, and complain if it is not good enough. If you are that bothered then I would say get a camera! We forget that they are phones after all. If they do the basic fucntion, then you are ok. Plus, you have the added features or, 'bonuses' of what other functions the phone have to offer as well as the good looks. But, that is in my oinion. And my opinion is that in you are looking for an all around good quialty phone, and are not going to keep on comparing to your old phone, then this is one of the more healthier choices. It's a brilliant phone, and Samsung have done a good job with it!

These are the animations i use. After typing your message press options then scroll down to insert, press select, scroll down to clipart, select then scroll to emotions, select, and then scroll down and press selct on the animation you want to use. Good luck

Camera is good. U just need 2 know how to use it. To auto focus press lightly on the shoot button till the rectangle at the centre of the screen is green. press further to shoot. hold steady till the picture appears on screen. this takes 2 to 4 seconds depending on lighting conditions. hope it helps. this is a good phone.

i had issues with trying to figure out how to add or change things, or adjust settings on this phone i just got it and i thought well this phone sucks, but then i went through the users manual and now everythings awesome, this phone has everything one needs and its only $276. beats paying alot more for the higher end phones like nokia, etc. when this phones got pretty much the same bells and whistles but for alot cheaper pricing!!!!! to all of you having problems if you would take the time to read the users manual its all in there on how to fix things, change settings, etc.

Seems people say the g600 cam is not quite as sharp as the 3meg camera on d900 in some regards (macro mainly) but very close and very good. I suspect the people that are giving such bad camera reviews aren't aware that the shutter needs to be pressed half way first to focus the pic.

You have to make sure 'silent mode' is switched off. Select your song and go to 'set as', 'ringtone', it will have to be saved or copied to 'phone memory' rather than on 'memory card'.

The only way is to use your camcorder. You have to switch off a setting that limits the size of your video to fit into messages in order to use the flash as long for as you like.

I can't fully answer your question, because I don't have the g600 (planning on getting though). However, I am very familiar with the samsung platform. On other models, such as the d900, you can only record as much as the available on board memory remaining. The phone will not save directly to the memory card, and can only be transfered to the memory card after the action has been performed. This goes for video and pictures. One of those things when you just have to ask "WHY?!?"

Im not bein difficult here but Egon im guessing you are from South Africa, like me, MTN first off isnt the greatest of networks. Second, Nokia has not had an original phone in years. They all look brick-like and do the same thing... they just come in a different cheap plastic cover. I have the G800 and G600 and personally prefer the G600 for quality and performance. pretty disappointed and happy with this phone. love the camera and flash and the good pictures it takes (as far as mobile phones go anyways) but hate the way you cannot see time & date when phone in standby. Even if samsung gave the option in its menu to very very dimly light the display (at cost of battery power life I know)at least you could see the display enough to see the time and date and missed calls. I cannot seem to find screensaver on the phones menu only wallpaper settings and also even though I have the ringtone set not to increasing melody the first ring is quiet then goes to full volume why is that? Bummer about not being able to use mp3 as tone for messages why do samsung do that on a lot of their phones? - whats the problem? I know there is an L1 firmware that will fix this but I would have to buy a flash cable. Why don't samsung just let you set mp3 tone for messages as standard in the menu?

G 600 brilliant phone, great battery life, crystal clear recception ALL the features work extremely well,including MP which I dont use, camera is excellent, no wonder experts like Which Mobile and Choice Consumer Association in Australia have listed the G600 on top of their lists, silly people putting negative comments about an obviously great product like this only show themselves up as either heavily biased or just plain stupid, everyone who has a G600 will confirm that, let me tell you if you cannot use this phone, you should not have one at all.

Have used the G600 for about 4 months now, cannot fault the phone, read comments about poor battery life, all I can say mine has no such problems, camera is great in normal situations, better then the available opposition like Nokia or SE but as expected in low light or with fast moving objects it cannot compete with your designated digital camera, focus could also be atouch more accurate, but your every day pics like landscape people etc. match your designated 5MP digital camera very well, reception is very clear, speaker facility which I use a lot very good, overall I would give the G600 9 out of 10

Samsung makes very good products, their very stylish, modern, and well made. So when it came to buying a new phone it was obvious that the G600 was a winner, right? Wrong! Its absolutely the worst phone I've every used and thats saying a lot cause I sold phones for a living. For starters the 5meg camera acts like the 2meg on my bb pearl, poor battery life, limited features, and the worst thing of all is its reception. you'd think samsung would get one of these important features right, but they've simply failed. And its not like they couldnt have fixed these problems, it was out of cost cutting that created this terrible performing phone. Simply sad the G600 is like a supermodel looks good, but thats as far as it gets.

Thanks vCEu! The whisper mode increases the mouthpiece volume so you don't have to be an annoying yelling wanker around a normally quiet environment. (I think the d900 is still able to do this typing in some "codes" into the phone -not sure- but it's nicer and quicker to have a menu option.)

I bought this phone last week and love it. The settings that come default on the camera wernt taking that good of photos but i changed a few of the setting and now am getting wicked photos. Mp3 & Radio quality are good. Only bad thing is that you need to have the headphones connected to listen to the radio. You can record from the Radio and it is very good quality. Call quality is really good to.

I have a G600 and you are pretty dumb if you can't change your settings to 5mpixel. just change your resolution and then you are done :) Also about the battery; change your brightness OR the slide setting (lights off in 10 seconds). Doing this will make your battery go on for 300 hours. Cheers

BATTERY LIFE is not good compare to nokia and sonny ericsson i always charge this fone every single day and 5mp camera is only 1.3mp quality i dont recommend this phone, stick 2 nokia and sony ericsson, i really regreted to bought this rubbish phone.

Debbie - I have upgraded from the U600 to the G600. The G600 has a better camera although personally I think the U600 is a better phone. The U600 allows you to have an MP3 as your message tone whereas the G600 only has 4 preset tones, all of which are not too good. Also as stated on this site before the G600 is quite slow when texting and also reading from the memory card. The G600 is still a good phone though and it looks good - its all down to personal choice. Hope this helps.

To Kos - I upgraded from the D900 to the G600 approx 6 weeks ago. In all honesty I preferred the D900. There are a few issues with the G600. It is very slow with texting and when you add new words to the dictonary it sees to forget them after a while. The camera on the G600 is excellent but you say this is not an issue for you. The camera on the D900 was good anyway. Its all down to choice ...

to kos: i had been using samsung g600 2 weeks from now and its a great phone although it is no flexible when it comes to its camera (when in lowlight conditions, it produces noisier images) but the quality of its images when daylight is good...the speakers are a little bit weak but good quality...and battery life is great it can go up to 4 days without charging it! and its affordable

You can play videos in full screen mode by pressing the # key when the video starts to play.

The "G" or "E" means that you are on GPRS or EDGE network and will come on automatically. The only way you can remove it is to type *#4777*8665# Choose GPRS detach. This will remove the "G" icon. It will reappear if you are accessing your web browser or receiving or sending MMS. It will also reappear every time you switch your phone off and on. I use this command and switch mine off as I feel it helps to maintain a longer battery life.

Where's the apostrophe symbol - it's not in the obvious place, so wherever it is, it's a dumb place to locate it! Cannot set your own text alert sound. No photo caller ID display on outgoing calls or incoming text messages, the way it organises folders and files makes no sense at all, cannot connect to my MacBook via the USB port. Would discourage anyone from buying this phone and will stick to Sony Ericson in future.

Some people have been complaining about the slowness of the phone when texting. This seems to be a known issue and unfortunately you just have to go a bit slower. It is also a know problem when adding words to the dictionary - after a while the phone seems to "forget" them. Also with regard to the lights going off and on - this is supposed to happen. It is to save your battery as it automatically adjusts to the light. You can stop this by changing the light settings.

willie, no the phone doesn't have 3G. that's a light sensor for the keypad. it turns off when there's enough light at your surrounding and on again when its dark. it saves battery life.

I brought this samsung because i thought id try samsung again, will stick to sony ericsson in future.Considering its a 5mp camera, quality is poor, keeps turning itself off and when ur writing a text brightness keeps going up and down, gives me headache.poor phone.

I have a problem with the texting speed. I don't use predictive texting but it laggs behind on the letters, to the extent that it is still trying to come up with the right letter and I have already moved on to the next word. Annyoying. Has anybody elese experienced this or is it just a problem with my particular handset?

When i bought it i got a 512mb card slot. 2 days later i bought a 4gb MicroSD card slot. The problem is that i cant copy/move music or images on the card, and the Samsung PC Studio isn't working either . Can this phone support a 4gb card ?

No 3G, the thing on front is a light sensor not a Camera. Only easily scraped if you drop it, or stick it in your pocket with coins and keys. You cannot see the memory card from Studio 3 You have to select on the g600: SETTINGS> PHONE SETTINGS> USB settings> and select MASS STORAGE. Save. Connect Cable and then click on "My Computer" on your PC. Phone memory and mSD card will appear as 2 extra drives. Drag and drop what you want.

Had my trusty D900 for 2 years now and finally bought G600 today...Great phone and all...got it dead cheap at �15 a month for 900texts and 400minutes. But does the memory card work properly??...Couldn't work it..and have no clue how to use the USB cable connected to PC after successfully installing the PC studio thingy...but couldn't upload me photos! :(...HELP Also not too easy to slide open...and bit off paint has already chipped off after just 3 hours of buying!..like Dude!.

As said before you cannot set an mp3 as your message tone. I know some people have said this is possible but unless there is some new firmware - I have not found anyone that can do this. I also checked with Samsung and they confirm that it is not possible to do this. You only have the choice of the 4 preset tones.

Mewy, Well I sure hope that it will drop by June. Cause the price here right now is about C$375. That doesn't even include tax yet. By then it would be around close to C$400. I know there will be new samsung phones coming out this april and may. Hopefully the price would drop. If it cost more here before I go home then most likely I'll buy it there. I know you can change the firmware for G600 so you can use mp3 music for message tones. I read it here somewhere but I'm sure the warranty would be void if you do that. Thanks Mewy.

D880i is a bit thick but at least more stable to hold on BUT it doesnt have flash! G600 is more appealing when you hold on to it than just take a look at it. Nice keypads very easy and soft to text not noisy and it doesnt sound like hard plastic. Slide is a bit wobbly, and unfortunately, camera is not at par for a 5mp :( Flash is not bad though, but it doesnt know how to balance itself unlike n95.. you end up so white in the pic. Good thing about it is it has themes!!! yey!! and nice job samsung for the interface but quite slow indeed especially when trying to access your microSD. Menu animation is really cool! and equalizer effects for a stadium and Live sounds so real! Overall, im still happy with the phone just got it for php 11,900 here in Manila.

good surfing to all. anyway, i bought this phone 3 weeks from now, and its very good. the camera is good, design ios good, keypad is great. anyway, for those who always said that the camera is a crap, that images are blurry and not focused even if the setting is set to autofocus, try reading better photography books and you'll know how to make your pics good and better, even if taken with a cellphone. for example, this phone has an autofocus option but I think that it actually focuses the subjects placed at the center of the viewfinder; so, if you want to take a picture focused on something that is not placed at the center, try focusing first at your subject then hold, after locking the focus range and exposure, now move the phone aiming it somewhere else as if you want something or someplace to be your backgroud, then take the shot, it's a lot of things to do but for the sake of better pics, then do it. this process will make your subject focused and clear even if it was located at, for example, the lower right of the whole picture and the rest, like the background, quite blurred. but if you want to make a picture where everythings clear, then turn off the autofocus and change it to pan focus. 'hope I'd help. thanks.

Had this phone for about a week. Paid $300, unlocked. Pictures: took a series of pics in a variety of conditions. The quality is great and the plethora of features are amazing. However, a 5mp digital camera would produce much better pics. Ringtones: you can totally use an mp3 as a ringtone (I do).

The light flickers because it is set to automatically adjust the brightness depending on the lighting conditions. You can change this: Settings - Light Settings - Brightness and change from Automatic to set brightness.
