  • When I first got this phone in 2017, it was smooth (lags on heavy multitasking) and no major heating issues, battery would usually last a day on moderate usage. however, after receiving the Oreo update, the devices lags twice as much and battery doesn't last as long. For example, after booting, the phone would lose 1% every 5 minutes. Restarting the phone would get the battery to fill up again.

  • Oh and let's not forget it has gotten 2 major updates. Even flagships don't get past that at times.

  • I got a story about this phone. So i have the hong kong version of j5 prime SM g5700 I bought this phone in early 2017. After half year of usage, the phone starts to have multiple problems: 1: screen flickering at low light 2: overheating 3: faulty battery 4: screen not turning on when pressing the power button or home button sometimes Some of these problems happens after software updates to 7.0 Somehow, i lived with this problems a whole year. This August, i finally decided to bring it to the repair center (i have a different warrant from the shop that i bought this phone from, it can cover the costs of repairing as long as the damage is not caused by human errors, is sort of like a extended warranty) People at Samsung first need to examine the cause of the problem and then they will give me the price of the repairment (i can later claim the money back at the shop that i bought this phone) So after a few days, they finished examining it, they came up with the price.Guess what, it costs $1200 Hkd to fix!! (Which is around $153 usd) they said they will change the screen, motherboard and the battery (is like a new phone lol) Anyways i paid since i can claim the money back later. Also, i borrowed a Samsung phone from them while my phone is being fixed (is the oldest A8, pretty slow phone but the screen is a massive upgrade from what i have lol) 2 weeks later, which was few days ago, they finally finished the repairment. I went to pick up my phone. So, now the phone is basically brand new (just not the metal case and some components like the camera and speaker) I am quite happy that i finally got it fixed. Until yesterday, one same problem came back again!!! The phone is sometimes not turing on when pressing the power or home button, i am SO FRUSTRATED!! I don't really know what to do... So in conclusion i have a few things to say and ask: 1: never buy budget phones of Samsung, they are not worth it and faulty 2: customer service of samsung is ok, it have its quality. 3: software updates can ruin your phone pretty bad, especially when it is upgrading it to a whole new version. 4: snapdragon 617 is prone to overheating and thermal throttling 5: i will never buy a Samsung budget or mid range phone again after this one breaks Questions: 1: anyone have similar encounters before? 2: can i confirm that the phone not waking is because of a software issue now? 3: anyone have similar problems of my phone?   • I have this phone specifically the G570Y 16gb variant and all I can say is the front cam was pretty ggod in low light but it has alot of disappointments.... weak wifi and network issue somtimes sim card wasn't read low sound quality.... I replaced it with an Alcatel 4S Pop and well its much better and has more features than this samsung crap

  • The screen durability is that of glass.. we all know glass breaks eventually and given it drops on an uneven surface will get the unlucky drop. I don't know why people purchase a phone n don't care it. I mean my J5 Prime has case and tempered glass screen protector on for the most protection because my phone is an investment and my life line. You should invest in a case and glass protector just to be on the safe side. Add the fact that the phone and slippery without a case

I lose the most 3% overnight in idle. All this with Nougat update. Overall can't complain. No crashes, no reboots, no lag except when updating apps, no heating issues.. This is not a heavy duty gaming phone though I will admit even though I don't play much. I really enjoy the fact that Nougat has this phone looking so good with Samsung experience 8.0 on top. Love it

My review about Galaxy J5 Prime is negative due to ; Browser Speed : Though Galaxy J5 prime has 3 GB Ram and Galaxy J2 has only 1GB Ram, still web browser speed is same. I replaced my J2 with J5 prime for good web browser speed but I am disappointed. Sound Quality : It's sound quality is very bad as compared to Galaxy J2. Not only volume, sound gets detoriate at full volume. Screen Display : Screen color is not of good quality. Natural colors are not appearing. Display of Galaxy J2 is far better. Battery consumption : It's battery gets discharged in 12 hrs. Though rating of battery of Galaxy J5 prime is superior than of Galaxy J2- but it is inferior . In short, it is not recommended to purchase a J5 Prime - better you go for J2 in half the price.

  • My grandmother has this handset and has given her nothing but problems. She upgraded from a Huawei Honor 3C and she was fine with that but it was time for an upgrade. Samsung UI has preloaded uses "cleaning tools" which I have read deletes WhatsApp media automatically and there's no way to delete or close the processes that do this. Absolutely useless handset. At this price point I'd look into a Snapdragon-powered Xiaomi phone instead. Never buying Samsung. Currently have a 6s but if I need to go with Android I'll be buying a Pixel or Oneplus instead.

  • there are 2 simcard slots. the one at the middle simcard slot will give you a 4G/3G access. you should insert your simcard there if you want to use the mobile data. hope this helps because i have the same phone

  • Samsung galaxy J 5 prime with 3 GB RAM and 32 gb internal memory is not a good phone... Touch, keypad and processer are not smooth. I purchased my J5 prime 3 days ago. I am writing this reviews after checking all features in last 3 days. Earlier i was a user of vivo v 3. Vivo was much better in all respect than J5 prime. Fingerprint sensor is just waste of time. I need to touch 4 or 5 time this fingerprint sensor to unlock my device. Vivo has very fast fingerprint sensor.. Front camera is like a simple camera. Pictures from front camera is not selfy but only simple pictures. Plz choose vivo or oppo if u want fast processing, good camera and nice touchpad and fingerprint sensor. I hope you would like my comments..

  • This is a very poor phone, buy at ur own risk!!! Many website or review saying that J5 Prime come with a nice camera, that's wrong. The front & back camera was suck！especially video recording. Quality was even worse than 2-3 yrs ago China phone camera. the highlight part was over expose, shadow part was too dark. Performance was terrible, always lag & delay (new phone w/o install any 3rd party apps), when play some small games also will cause no respond on screen touch. This is definitely a below standard phone. Phone surface was too slippery. Sure u will drop ur phone if no apply any casing. The only good things is the outlook, and no prominent camera lens, Dual sim slot + microsd slot design was also an advantage.

  • Hey, Make sure you SD card is in properly and go to storage settings to see if it has been detected. If it hasn't you may have to do a factory reset but if you do, you will have to back up all your data as this will reset your phone. However, if you need to, try to get in contact with samsung and they should be able to help :).

  • problem is in app that you install in your phone; there is a hole by where ur headphones go stick something that can fit in that small hole for 10 seconds that will reset ur phone. OR= 1. Turn off the phone completely. 2. Press and hold both Volume UP and HOME + power on the phone. Keep pressing the VOl + home. 3. When Android Recovery menu screen appears release all keys. 4. Navigate and highlight "wipe data / factory reset" using the Volume down key and press power. 5. Navigate and highlight again to Yes -- delete all data and press power. 6. All data will be lost! Before doing a hard reset backup all important data. After hard reset is done select Reboot system now. Press power to reboot the phone.

  • You can safely expect more than 24 hours with some dependable leftovers if you forget to charge for the next day. My typical day would include the use of calendar, keep, youtube for about more than 10 videos, 1 or 2 hours of tunein, email, whatsapp and blacberry messnggr, music, viewing documents and pdf (ebooks and office stuff), gps and google map outside, which means also crank the display brightness to 100%. I don't use any power saver scheme, and i don't play games. I never bring my power bank anymore when i'm in the city.

  • I have bought a samsung galaxy J5 Prime today. The assistant set it up for me using a number to log in and the finger swipe for the other things. When I want to use the phone, it first asked me for my fingerprint, then when it was not recognised asked for my log in number. How do I log in by inserting my log in number and bypassing the finger swipe as now it keeps telling me to try again in 5 mins, try again in 15 minutes or the last time try in 45 minutes.   • I bought one of J5 Prime. It looks great but full of problems. It started first by going off unnoticed even at full battery charge. Secondly, after the software update when you restart the phone it takes over 12 hours to determine the network (on both sims). Now, the phone freezes and the screen gone dead. When someone calls, it goes through but you can hear the tone neither can you see the call coming through. When you try to charge the batter nothing works. Unfortunate I have misplaced the purchased receipt so I can't take back to the shop. Such a beautiful phone but a very terrible piece. Completely waste of money.

The back camera was faulty, and although I could download and run Kakaotalk, it refused to allow video calls. Phone was exchanged next day. Still no video calls on Kakaotalk. Rang Samgsung New Zealand who disavowed all responsibility. Luckily, my neighbour is Korean, and a quick search of Naver revealed this phone was withdrawn from sale in Korea because the J5 Prime is full of faults. Rang Samsung in Korea, who apologised and arranged for a full refund. TL;DR An Edsel of a phone, shoved on foreign markets because morally corrupt Samsung are not interested in non-Korean customer rekations. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Bought a new Nokia instead. Marvellous.

  • Today just found another cons, no.5: gaming is surprisingly slow. Tried shadow fight 2, framerate drop was indeed noticable. But when mobile data was turned off, became normal again. ???? Angry birds is fine though.

  • first time when I used j5 prime and its back button sometimes not working Then I was removed my screen protector and still its working ☺☺

  • Mine is blurry even when the screen is off. I think that's because i'm using a cheap screen protector.

  • Well if u want to use a smartphone for a long time I suggest this phone, there's many reasons why i suggest samsung, such as good warranty if u having any problem with ur smartphone and samsung service center have a great services, if u choose xiaomi u will have difficulty to find service center, this is happen in my country (Indonesia)

  • What i can say this is a very bad phone from samsung..with this price better u buy redmi note 4 snapdragon..cheap n worth for your money..

  • The phone is good. Only problem is the blurring screen and the battery. J5 has 3000 mah battery and j5 prime has only 2400 mah.
