Samsung Galaxy Q T589R - User Reviews

  • It's small. But some young people think it's big.

  • I liked this phone for a basic use (texting, calling and other basic functions). But battery life was not very good, and it's very bad to go on the internet and not compatible with a lot of apps. It's sad that they don't make smartphones with physical keyboards like this today. My phone has stopped working in 2015 after 3 years of use because the screen has stopped working (I think that the electric link between the tho parts of the phone is broken. I would like to have this kind of smartphone again.

  • I've has this phone for over four years now and have not had any problems . Basic phone that's only good for talk and text , so so pictures .

  • Great phone. Are batteries still available?

  • This has been the greatest phone I have ever had and will probably ever have. It makes calls, sends and receives texts and has wifi and bluetooth. It fits in the hand very comfortably, heavy eough to know its there but not be a burden, all functions can be done with a simple thumb or finger swipe and it has amazing battery life; I charge(d) mine once a week. Sadly, after 4 years of using it around the US, CAN and the EU and being less than careful with it in the car, home and office, I dumped it on the cement garage floor from three stairs up at a 30 degree arc; it landed about 6 feet away. Except for the vibrate function, it survived without a scratch. Because I primarily use vibrate over audio I now have to spend $300-600 to buy a replacement behemoth that I won't use any of the features on (I even stripped stuff from the Q), won't fit in my hand, need bigger pockets for, won't have a useable keyboard (hate tiny touch screens), more fragile than the Q, etc... all for the sake of "having to be connected", blech. Too bad the only small qwerty phones left are antiques models which companies will not update. I would have bought one last year if they did; even BB got bigger.

  • i need the touchscreen

  • How can I change the no of rings?

  • How use it in Philippines and not charge in the Philippine. What we do??

  • how do I decode it and use it in Ghana.

  • For someone who needs a phone to send messages and make calls, this fits the bill perfectly (so far). One of this phones weakest point's is it's software & it should be taken into consideration before you buy this. It's not the smoothest (or the newest) android experience today, but it's still MILES ahead of the dreaded and now almost extinct symbian OS on older devices; They don't even compare in terms of functionality. The OS is definitely oudated in terms of application compatibility. Hardware wise, things are a little better, but not perfect. The touch screen is capacitive which is a godsend for a phone purchased at this price, but the dpi is rather average, no retina displays or fancy HD screens here. Call clarity is good, the keyboard is a bit oddly spaced and shaped however; my biggest gripe being the space key; it's just 2 small keys with a bit of rubber connecting them together to form a "bar". It feels odd to press as a result. It takes some getting used to but the quirks of it are easily overlooked with repeated consistent use. The phone feels solid for the most part but be warned; bar phones are definitely a lot more durable than most if not all sliders & flip phones. It just... wont. No questions. The chrome painted plastic rim (which will predictably wear off over time) and plastic housing definitely isn't doing the phone any favors. The camera is also surprisingly decent for a 3.2 megapixel camera anyways, no graininess and very clear shots in good light conditions, but cameras on phones today can definitely outshine this one in terms of picture fidelity and definition, I'd be hard pressed to call this camera terrible though, I've used much worse before. It does start to get washed out, blurry & grainy in lower lighting, but a flash is present to compensate for that. The worst part about the hardware is probably the actual specifications, and I'd say this is probably the weakest point of the phone; the small amount of ram coupled with the single core CPU is capable enough for basic phone tasks and a little more, but not much else. The internal memory is laughably tiny. The only thing huge about it is how much of a joke & disappointment it is. You'll definitely require an SD card to use most of the phone's memory-specific features, such as taking and saving pictures for instance. I may be somewhat critical of the device, but the way I see it, you get what you pay for, bottom line. I bought this new & unlocked off of Newegg.com for a mere $99, and I was well aware of pretty much all of the above, even caught by surprise by the phone for exeeding my somewhat lower expectations of it. Currently satisfied so far.

  • I have had the Samsung Galaxy Q T589R for less than a year. Loved the phone except that when a text or call came in, if you missed the ring it would not ring again!!! So I had to constantly check my phone to see if I had missed a text or call. Pain in the a$$!!! Lately the screen had been freezing up on me and today it totally froze. I could only navigate using my keypad. So I bought a new iPhone. Then began the ordeal of trying to get a program so I could download my contacts to my laptop, as the SIM card for my Samsung was not compatible with the iPhone. Spent hours trying to get it to work to no avail. The program recommended by Samsung would not work so I spent another couple hours MANUALLY inputing all my contacts. Thank God I could still navigate my Samsung using the keypad!!! So not impressed. This seems to be a common problem with this phone. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this phone at all. Hoping I will like my iPhone 5S longer!!!

  • This phone is okay, for minor users looking for a simple QWERTY-layout smartphone, but by downloading apps and loading it up, is where it hits the crapper, it starts to have performance issues with more apps, Facebook app is laggy and much more, only good for texting or doing calls, and BASIC usage, but medium-heavy usage, is bad for this phone, only 800MHz CPU, low RAM, I would recommend using avast! Mobile Security and ES Task Manager to make phone faster and free up some space, also the phone only has 150MB of app storage.

  • I really relied on my Galaxy, which I thought was a pretty well put-together smart phone (with it's great slide out keyboard). That was up until after 20 months of ownership when everything fell apart. The touch screen stopped working (which you can mostly get around by using the keyboard). Soon after the display started to fail (first the greens, then the yellows, now I'm just left with red). It's a bit of a disaster now, so at roughly 23 months, the phone is more-or-less unusable. Too bad, it was a good ride while it lasted; just another example of disposable electronics.

  • hey i have the exact problems this phone is a piece of bullcrap and also did anyone have a problem where it did not charge?? well i have that and i dont know why its like that screw this phone DONT GET THIS PHONE!!!

  • can the android system b changed ?????

  • just bad luck i guess. Who knows where to get areplacement battery for this phone....thanks

  • My wife and I both had these phones and both screens stopped working causing both phones to be unusable. Very let down as they were not even a year old and we have to replace them at full price. I can not recommend that phone for anyone.

  • Don't blame the over charge, it is not true that charging it over the night kills the battery. It is lithium battery technology and it stops charging when its full, so it doesn't start a new cycle and a phone battery is good for 500-1000 recharging cycles, after this, change your battery and no, this battery doesn't last very long

  • I've had it since June of 2012, and it still works fine. But then again, storage is awful, the battery life is awful AND LIES TO YOU, it's freaking 2.2, meaning next to no apps are compatible with it, and the stupid thing is slower than a snail in a coma. Plus, it's so old it's basically impossible to find a decent looking case for it that's not pink or black. Also, the keyboard, one of my once favourite features, makes mistakes constantly. At least the phone is durable. Like, I've dropped it over 10 times and nothing more than some scratches on the back. One last thing, the camera can't take pictures to save its life.

  • If your sole purpose of owning a phone is to make occasional phone calls and send some texts, then this phone is a worthy contender. However, if you plan to do anything else that a typical smartphone is capable of doing, then saying that this phone greatly disappoints would be a huge understatement. The phone performs tasks at an excruciatingly painful slow speed that makes you want to smash it to pieces. Memory is extremely limited and running downloaded apps will often lead to crashes. The on board storage capacity is an absolute joke (most phones nowadays have more RAM than this phone has storage), but luckily there is a micro-SD card slot. On-screen typing is absolutely horrible. The keys are tiny because of the small screen, so it's likely that every word you try to type will have mistakes in it. It also doesn't help that the auto-correct feature is very incompetent. If you can't stand the on-screen keyboard, luckily, there's a physical one. This might appear to be useful at first until you realize that you cannot possibly type fast with this given the wide span of the keyboard and the unfriendly tactile feedback that it provides. The battery life is absolutely horrible. No battery percentage is displayed until you reach under 15%. And this can be reached very quickly. One minute the indicator shows nearly full, and the next, you are alerted to plug in the charger. If you plan to use data and/or one of your downloaded apps for more than 5 minutes, then you need to bring a charger with you and hope that there is an outlet where you go. If you have even read this far, then buy a different phone. Don't even bother with this one.

  • Internal memory - the worst issue, A smart phone that cannot download Facebook ? Don't buy this one

  • phone has many issues and problems. my first one only lasted 14 months. it died, due to the screen froze, i was s.o.l., cus only 12 mo. warranty. the 2nd one died after 2 months, due to kept going black, on me, i was told it was the light proximity sensor. i can not recommend this phone, samsung galaxy Q sgh-t589R.

  • i cant have apps that i want i want sanpchat its not compatible for my phone... what the hell is this. it also freezes on me and i cant leave and app it gets stuck on the app... love, a pissed of buyer

  • Did you did a way to fix that problem about the screen being stuck at th Samsung logo? PLZ reply!!!

  • Did you find a way to fix the problem about th screen getting stuck at the Samsung logo? Plz reply!!!

  • (1) Any phone do not use on battery over limit.(2)Do not play all the time with phone. Keep in mind.God bless you.

  • My daughters phone had the same problem with the screen. I found out that the sliding ribbon is broken and need to be replaced the part is just 7 dollars and if you open the phone you can replace it yourself

  • So i got this phone, and it was my first day at university. I turned on the gps to see which way to go, and the battery died within 30 minutes. It was fully charged before i used the gps. This phone is a piece of crap. DO NOT BUY.

  • DO NOT GET THIS PHONE i had it for less than 6 months and the touch screen stopped working for no apparent reason, the battery dies within an hour after hours of charge. and the camera is not very good either. many of the pictures come out like it was done in minecraft. finally you can not get numerous applications because the screen size is too small and is not compatible. So DO NOT GET THIS PHONE

  • this is by far the worst phone on the planet. it takes for ever to charge and the battery only lasts for a hour. It's a crap whole phone

  • Terrible, and I absolutely TERRIBLE.The memory is terrible, the charging is bad. I've had mine for 4 months maybe. and it JUST stopped working wont go past the samsung logo. Not to mention the touch screen would stop working, it would jump around different apps and pages. the things terrible DONT BUY IT

  • I got this phone just 2 months ago and today I had enough so considering I would propably get nothing for it trying to sell it I gladly released my frustrations by smashing it into pieces. Even though the internal memory is advertised at 250 megs it only allows you to use about 170 megs. You are looking at installation of about 10 apps and memory is full. A message about memory low would constantly pop up. As a solution I had the phone rooted with 16 gigs external sd where I partitioned the sd to have 6 gigs for applications and the rest for storage such as music and pics or vids. Even with installation of such software as apps2sd the phone would not allow me to install apps on the external sd. Turns out that Google had designed their android systems that apps can only be installed on internal memory. With internal memory nearly full my phone started crashing, freezing up, screens would take forever to open up or close and just few days ago I started getting a message: "force close app". Just yesterday my phone froze up totally where it would not respond to any of my requests. I could not even turn the power off. So I removed the battery, plugged it back in, restarted and from than on all I get is the: "Samsung" logo an the screen but the phone want even start. It just stopped working totally. Funny thing is that with low memory in the last 2 weeks I did not even install new apps for the phone to just crash like it did. Phone was working fine until it just stopped for no reason. Definitely the problem is low internal memory and I am trying to understand why nowadays where smart phones are all about getting different apps people at Samsung or in Android System would not consider having a greater memory available for cheaper phones ? It's basically a decent phone for calls and texting. If you want more than you have to invest in something like one of the Samsung Note's or any of the S series. This phone did nothing more for me than just gave me a headache. Not recommended.

  • If you wait for a while it's actually pretty bad, I got mine on christmas and never dropped it and it stopped working in March, I didn't do anything, the cellphone companies couldn't do anything about it. But if it works for you great! After they fixed mine it broke again 2 days later

  • I got this phone under a year ago, and the Battery sucks. There is barely enough memory storage, and it stopped vibrating. I accidentally dropped it from sofa (couch) which is about knee height onto carpet floor,(this was the first time i ever dropped this phone, which lead the phone to not vibrate at all anymore. I used to keep the phone on vibrate only in class, at work, etc, but now i wont be able to do that since it doesnt vibrate. I checked all the settings, and made sure they were on vibrate, which they are, still doesnt vibrate. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE, THIS PHONE IS GARBAGE, WHICH IS WHERE IT WILL BE SOON.

  • how did you get it to go on, i'm facing the exact same problem with my phone

  • Buy a wind, mobilcity or t mobil phone. It will work on sudan

  • phone battery is garbage because if you are a person that charges your phone overnight, the phone does not automatically stop charging after the battery is full so the over charge is killing your battery main life until it is nothing. i have an older phone that has the automatic shut off when battery is full so there is no excuse why this phone doesn't have it too.

  • my touch screen stoped working and I don't no how to fix it is there any video links or could some one reply with a solution?

  • NO!

  • The goods: Battery is good, high resistance to drops, stable, do everything a Android phone have to do, small design, good screen. The bad: NO ENOUGH MEMORY! Less than 100mo for the user and some apps need internal memory to work so I can't download Facebook for exemple because it take to much memory...

  • Worst phone in my life, very glitchy, proximety sensor is so screwed I had to disable, screen flashes, stuff freezes all the time. Do not buy it

  • Though a lot of people here have been hating on this phone, for my purposes it has suited me perfectly. it has a good keyboard, simple but easy to understand interface and works fairly well for texting, which is what it is designed for. so dont bitch

  • This phone is constantly glitching. I would NOT recommend getting this phone. The battery takes forever to charge and it also loses battery extremely quick. I got this phone about 6 months ago and I've had so many problems already. It is probably the worst phone ever, so save yourself the time and money and don't buy it.

  • I have one , use it for long 6 month , but cannot use it by 3G , just internet working by 2G. I think its manufacturing broblem due to 3G Network its just working in 850/1900 .but in my country Sudan working under 2100. Please feed me by any information and how to solve this issue

  • I had this phone for like 5 month's and the battery is very bad i charge it everyday, there is barely any memory and i cant even use my e-mail. I really do not recommend this phone. I will never buy a Samsung phone in the future!

  • Didnt work 15 minutes after i got it, sim card does not make good contact, my last phone was an lg flip that lasted 10 years, dropped it 200 times and still worked, this was the best piece of %#* that fido offered and no returns. I'm dumping fido and going with whoever supports iphones, no brainer, iphones are selling the best for a reason, and as for the galaxy, ill give it to a recycler to save anyone else the headache.

  • you can change the notification ringtone u have to go to menu, then go to files, click on downloads where you will have your ringtones, click on the menu button n select copy, then go back to files click notifications n select paste n u have ur ringtones 4 the notifications!! hope this helps!!

  • i'm sorry but i think the battery which are used is not good, its easy to get low in just 20 mins. and i hate it...

  • Download zedge you can get a lot of ringtones

  • I just bought this phone yesterday and I hate it... I don't like the fact that you are stuck with their stupid ringtones for notifications (text messages) and now my notification ringtone is stuck on one ringtone it won't let me change it up.. I am telling people that I know that are interested in getting a new cell phone not to buy this one... and Samsung should take this phone off the market...its plain and simple garbage....

  • the phones just doodoo, Ive had mine for about a month and the apps started crashing to the point that when i tried to reboot it after it just wouldn't even load past the Samsung symbol. i DO NOT recommend this phone to ANYONE, everything about its is below my liking.

  • can not find 'attach' to an email?????

  • Cover it with rice for a while. Should be as good as new.

  • Most horrible phone..I bought it from mobilicity...it is always hanging...went to get it repaired...i'll need to pay for shipping

  • i dropped my phone in water, and at the moment its working, but its saying that the apps I downloaded are blocking my phone, I can text or call, or do anything, somone please respond

  • That is the number of walls you have stuff on. You can't get rid of it except you remove everything from your walls.

  • The samsung galaxy Q freezes. The Goods: The flash on the camera is awesome. The quality of pictures is OK, not stellar, but ok. The interface is quite easy to follow. But you might have to search deeper to find files. I find that the Samsung Kies (which is similar to the Nokia Suite)doesn't work the way it should. You have to find a way around it. The Bads: And after the freeze spell, it can decide to come back on or go off. Sometimes when you are charging the phone it freezes and goes of. When you drop the phone it disintegrates immediately it hits the floor.

  • i am very upset at how delecate this phone is i droped it and it compleatly smashed i have had it for less than a year and had to get it replaired twice the touch screen stoped working. that was my first ishue. the apps cut out there are not alot of options at the app store it is very expensive. and my more recent problem is the music downloads are ending soon, i am not happy with that at all.

  • Have the phone for 13 months -- minor annoyances until this week when the screen touch stopped working. No support from phone carrier, not much help from Samsung. Service contracts not the way to go when phones have limited life span! Not happy and do not recommend this Samsung product (and I will likely never purchase another Samsung product in the future).

  • I have this phone and it glitches all the time. When I first opened it out of its box and turned it on it glitched instantly. I'm changing this phone ASAP

  • only black sorry

  • dude that's your phone plan's problem because it makes a sound when I recieve a text

  • I got this phone a couple of months ago. Since it's my first cell phone, I don't really have any to compare it to, but there are a few basic things that I don't like about it... The battery life sucks, sometimes the phone will ring and I won't be able to answer it b/c the friggin' touch screen won't work and the sound is too low for my liking; if your'e on the bus, forget it!

  • Cons: Very poor battery (I need to charge it every day. I wouldn't trust it as an emergency phone. Low earpiece volume (even at max. setting). If you have hearing problems, forget it. Dialpad doesn't come up when you need it during a call Low memory (internal) Sometimes not responsive to touch or slow Weak vibration Pros: Wifi Bottom line: ok for light use but there are better phones out there at the same price.

  • Once the screen is unlocked, there is a tiny little number at the very top of the screen, why is it there and how do I get rid of it? I have seen it change from 1 to 2 but don't know what it is for.

  • I finally got around the internal storage problem just keep clearing your data and you are set setting>> manage apps. click on the app and hit clear ..first I kept on deleting the the apps and my old messages..i was alil turned off by now im getting my apps back and i get to retain all my messages( you may need to sync your email, FB twitter instagram) but hey for a low price i am getting a pretty good deal..the recent youtube upgrade is just awesome...

  • Cannot setting 3g, pls help?

  • can you upgrade the os on this phone? I have froyo 2.2 and have tried upgrading but no success..

  • Is NOT worth buying this phone, its internal memory is terribly low. It says 180MB available but once like 60MB is installed you always get the annoying low phone storage memory notification and you can't even receive text messages! You get the notifying sound that you got a text but this junk doesnt let you receive it. I'm getting it swapped tomorrow because this model is not worth being considered a smart phone.

  • Some can and some can't,depends on the app...usually social apps are set on internal(which u can't move them either); game apps are on sd card. But this phone has really low internal storage, 150mb appx and appx 60mb are actually free. This phone also has poor OS and screen resolution. Don't get me wrong through, of course its nothing like galaxy s or iphone, but its still a good smartphone

  • how do you transfer apps from internal to external sd card?

  • avoid the phone like a plauge. i got it from windmobile supposedly hint hint "new" but the battery died within 16 hrs of me having all sync off , etc and not even using it, basically just in stand by mode

  • 0k overall

  • yes. 70% of >> DATA

  • I bot the fone yesterday 2012.8.18. Only for texting it is good. U must not expect to use the Calendar function and try to find an appointment later because u can not search the calendar. U can scroll the entries and hope to be patient for what ur looking. Battery is only good if u use fone for texting mainly and keeping the brightness to a minimum. Brightness is decent for texting and phoning even if set to minimum brightness. However, don't expect good quality Speaker fone or Voice recording , because they sound like speaking inside a can and ur listener is getting stressed out when on speaker fone.

  • I own a samsung gio, it had the same problem as yours. Connect with Kier (samsung software), upgrade to a newer Android version, the problem solved, no more auto shut down. good luck.

  • Don't buy Samsung Galaxy-Q T589R, a lot of problem, i only own this phone for 3 months and already give me a lot of problem, first I charge the phone over night and I rarely use the phone and when I first got, the battery last for 5 days and now I have to charge almost everyday and this phone restart by itself, I thought it might be I touch it but actually keep doing over and over few times during a week. I sent it back to Fido for repaire and take 10 days without phone and they replace some part on this phone but still having same problem, so I set it back as manufacture default setting and couple days later doing it again, and Fido want me to bring it back to store to repair and have no phone for 10 days again. This phone also freeze up while you are on the phone or when you try to dial extension the number pad does not pop up for dial a number. I have one other friend also have same phone and she rarely use the phone as well and having similar problem as I have. So don't buy this phone. Mike

  • Reasonably fast, I got one for my wife but am currently looking for an os update battery life is not great but an is update should help. You can get it on a plan in b.c. Without a data plan which is cheaper, overall not a bad unit.

  • Reasonably fast, I got one for my wife but am currently looking for an os update battery life is not great but an is update should help. You can get it on a plan in b.c. Without a data plan which is cheaper, overall not a bad unit.

  • I have bought it for my dad but it causes lots of problems including battery life.

  • I've had this phone for about a year now. I find the QWERTY keypads definitely useful, and it is a pretty good android. I only find that there are no firmware updates for this phone, and the battery life drains extremely quickly with the brightness up, with gps, mobile and wifi networks on. If you turn the brightness and gps and wifi down when you don't need it, then it does save you a ton and can last you a whole day. The 'emergency' battery life settings is actually quite spectacular, my battery bar went all the way to the bottom, and started blinking but it took a good hour and a half before it actually turned off. Another setback is the internal flash memory and available RAM memory, which are realistically 130mb and 256mb respectively. I find that external memory cards don't help much with apps, as the installation memory eats up the internal. The screen is a bit small, but manageable. The touch screen lags every now and then, but it isn't too bad. I find playing music on the speaker of the phone is actually quite loud to. I'd give it a 6.5/10 for smartphones. Hope this helps

  • Umm, I'm thinking of getting this phone. So can anyone who owns the phone please tell me if it is worth buying. Thank you :)

  • on all android phones you can move applications to be stored on the external memory, instead of the internal one. the difference in execution speed is negligible...

  • it is also available with Videotron..they have really good plans as well :)

  • The phone ROCKS! the one problem is that the battery life is suckish...

  • Got this phone from Van Craig long time ago, cool phone sleek, got all the function i need...only problem is battery only last a day if you leave your wifi on, also if you turn on the brightness to maximum it dries off your battery really quick...so ROFL, battery has no problem, its the phone... overall, 7 out of 10. (inconvenience at the end of the day you gotta charge it)

  • I had the same problem. I got my phone through customer service from Fido. They've offered me this phone with a reduced plan and waived system access fee which I've been paying it for more than 15 years and just found out some peoople had never had to pay it in the first place. I called and complaint about the battery. I asked them if this was a defective and have warranty? They said I have to send just the battery in to the manufacture and will probably take a couple of weeks. Well, that didn't help. If I had to sign up for 2 yrs agreement, I would have pay a little more to get a better phone.

  • mobilicity is beating there prices with there promotional plans.

  • fido, rogers,wind mobile,mobilicity,

  • Wind mobile and the have unbeatable plans

  • I bought one today. $200 (plus tax) at a Fido store minus $27.50 in accrued Fido dollars. This phone (replacement for one that died recently, is just a temporary standby until I can buy a Samsung Galaxy SIII, 32 gig.

  • windmobile if in canada

  • can any1 tell me where samsung galaxy Q available

  • Most smartphone that can take an SD card can only take up to an SDHC card which has a hard cap of 32GB in the design. To my knowledge there are no smartphones that can handle a SDXC card, which can in theory get up to 2TB in size.

  • Wo there buster! No need for the inappropro language! Breathe, take a chill pill. Hee hoo Hee hoo

  • i like this phn because its touch is sensitive

  • It says that the memory is up to 32gb but does't it work with a 64gb too? Maybe It says that because the 64g micro sd wasn't out yet??

  • 2 hours after I bought this cell, my media data was 70% even i did not use it

  • I was so excited about getting this phone, but now have nothing to look forward to except a 2 year contract & extreme disappointment. It's like it is possessed. Constant freezing or black or flickering screen. Can't make or disconnect calls. It will ring with all volumes off & powered off (it did that twice...it's like it's possessed). It is randomly moving/deleting contacts...4 of my contacts have migrated to be under A&P grocery store. The battery life is very poor & the phone & charger get extremely hot when charging. That is just the beginning of my joys with my Samsung Q. Whenever someone is considering buying a new phone, I do not hesitate to encourage them NOT to get one.

  • Dis phn s sprb i like it toch is semsitive

  • This phone sucks! Sorry I bought it. A real pain to navigate, mind of it's own, and puny battery. Wouldn't buy again.

  • If you want a few more then 10 additional apps, don't get this phone cause at a point it will say low internal phone storage when I only have 7 or 8 apps download it won't let be get more and the downloaded ones average out to 2mb each

  • That seems to make a difference. Also turning off "packet something or other" (by FIDO tech) stopped the constant internet prowling. Thanks for your input.

  • Connection sucks it keeps going on and of

  • Setting -> Wireless and Networks -> mobile networks -> use only 2G networks -> enable it

  • How do I do that? Please instruct me if you can be bothered. Thanks!

  • Change to 2G mode, your phone is on 3G mode.

  • Battery life is a joke, even on standby. Does anyone know why my phone keeps telling me I have tried to access the mobile internet without a data plan? I do not use the net unless I am in a wifi hotspot, and I certainly never try to access the web at other times. Yesterday I had the phone charging on the passenger seat in my van, and it started bleeping to tell me the same stupid message. No wonder my battery doesn't last - the phone has a mind of its own and is dialing out without my knwledge - go figure!!!

  • which bestbuy in MTL ?

  • with which company ?

  • 179 $ at the best buy shop without a contract 0$ with a two years contract at the same shop . (: *At montreal

  • I've messaged a computer on my phone, but the person on the computer was unable to reply. Is there a trick to messaging the phone from a computer?

  • Does the spype run on that?

  • Can you upgrade the OS 2.2 Froyo to 2.3 Gingerbread on this phone?

  • I've had that problem too! It was fine last night but this morning the call and messaging app was gone so I turned of the phone, and the call app was back but the messaging app was in the app menu and I can't movie it back into the bar at the bottom of the screen...does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

  • I'm with fido and am paying $25 a month and am posting this from my phone I find it is an overall good phone but sometimes will frezze or not respond and will have to take the battery out also the barrery will last a long time on standby but during use battery goes quickly. Also the andriod aspect if it is very useful downloading widgets and apps that are very helpful it is also wifi enabled so if you have wifi or are somewhere with wifi you can browse the internet for free I would recamend this phone if you want something fairly up to date and "cool" at a low cost.

  • don't forget to mention that some of the main buttons (call contacts messaging and applications - at the bottom of the screen) keep disappearing. i have had to reset my phone multiple times.

  • Battery life is very poor

  • It depends how you use it

  • How do I turn the data off?

  • no it only has a camera on the back

  • battery life is very long standby i own this phone and it takes the everyday use good very fast and functional

  • Bttery life is very poor.

  • When Samsung Galaxy Q exist in Indonesia ? I really want to have a phone this one! : ( In addition to design a unique and very beautiful are also often equipped with os android phone that makes this one more special waw I really like this phone, but unfortunately not have it!

  • Noppe.

  • What abt Proccessor ????

  • does it have front camera

  • Audio quality is average: response is accurate from all frequencies but there is significant background hiss, especially when playing at lowest volume. It's definitely not suitable for indoor/quiet-environment playback over headphones. Otherwise PROs of this phone: the screen is incredibly responsive. The Fido version isn't too bloated, it actually runs pretty smoothly in the default factory state. Rooting with Superoneclick was very straightforward. The keyboard is backlit. And the call quality is very good (signal bars don't mean much, I can usually make and receive calls with 0 bars and the quality's fine) The only major con on this phone is the battery life. By the end of the day I would usually have about 10-15% remaining. It's good for one whole day of standby/light Wi-Fi usage only, you have to recharge it every day. Tip: turn off data (HSPA packet data) if you don't have a data plan, because by default it's always on and eats LOTS of battery. Also, camera is fixed-zoom, therefore non-QR barcodes (the line type) do not scan properly. Overall for $50 on a 2-yr plan I'd recommend it.

  • what is the audio quality like in terms of playing mp3s? how does this phone compare to the iphone's audio quality?

  • There are contradictory specs on this phone on the internet, pre-release (expected) specs vs. final (real) product specs. It's hard to find definite info on the final specs. I have this phone, and Android Info reports that the processor has 799.53 BogoMips, so I think the CPU is 800MHz.

  • How to receive calls by pushing a single button on the phone, instead of the slide to answer? Thanks,

  • 1 thousand

  • HOW much is this phone?

  • there are some apps that this phone cannot install like flash player.

  • How is the battery life in this phone?? Please

  • Does anyone have problems loading/installing some applications ? For some reasons, there are apps I am trying to download but the message I get is: :Your device is not compatible" ?????? And I know few other persons with Android (not as recent as mine) that can download the same apps ! Any reason why ?

  • Missing: Cpu: 1 Ghz Hummingbird Processor Internal Memory: 16GB

  • yes you can

  • yes

  • Hi Can any one tell me if you can display on the touch screen the standard keyboard instead of the qwerty keyborad for texting and also if you can enlarge the font size

  • how fast is very very fast?

  • Hey, is Sam Galxy Q avlble in Pune. Where i can buy it. Coz i really wanna hv it. It'll be my 1st android.

  • You can download some tweaks from android marketplace and boost your phones vibrator.

  • I find the vibration is too low. If I'm in a noisy area I need the vibration to notify me. Is there a setting on the Galaxy Q that increases the vibration level?

  • this is a nice, small and fast-loaded phone, but the battery dies out very, very fast.

  • u have to open the back cover to access to it

  • it's inside the back cover

  • where is the memory card slot on Samsung Galaxy Q?

  • The quality of the camera really good! and it have a flash too (optionnel)

  • hey guys for any stuff of android plz visit my blog here in this blog you will get all the android applications, games and lots of stuff for free...

  • radio avialable in this cell yes or no?

  • how about the quality of the camera? do the pictures taken look clear and is it suitable for someone who loves taking pictures??

  • price (@fido) dropped to $50 (from 100$) on a 2year contact as of sept 15 outright price is $275

  • got it sept 10 2011 and the touch screen works with good accuracy. data plan not mandatory, and setting up wifi . only had it one day but with a 2 year contract ($15/mth for 50 mins./mth) with fido, it was free at Best Buy.

  • If anybody know the price pls tell!

  • What's the price of phone??

  • Well I got the Galaxy Q and boy am I glad I picked this phone. Got it for dirt cheap during the promotion and no data plan was required. I can see why people like android phones now. Thanks for the advice.

  • Ugly as hell. look like a children toy. I would go for a the new nokia 700

  • Where did you buy the Galaxy Q from , was it on line because I Want to get one . I have a Nokia C6 and it is making me vex . I like to try android and like this phone size .

  • Processor speed for this device is 800Mhz. Not bad for an entry level handset. The UI is pretty snappy and is lagging very rarely.

  • This is an awesome phone. Android does it again with its smooth operating system froyo 2.2.2. Even though gingerbread 2.3 will be a litter less laggy in terms of running multiple programs they are essentially the same. The only issue I've run into is not being able to install flash onto it. I'm thinking the phone is still too new that they haven't come out with a driver compatible. If someone knows how to install it please let me know. Overall great phone. The slide out key board and option to have on screen keyboard is great. Phone feels solid in hand and offers all the apps your heart can desire in the android market. Initially I was hesitant to buy this phone knowing that there weren't any reviews on it yet, regardless I was more then satisfied.

  • Do not get the C6, I returned the C6 about 30 minutes after buying it and went with the Galaxy Q. The C6 has a horrible interface and is not user friendly. Internet surfing was a nightmare. The phone is laggy and non responsive at certain intervals of use. Stick with the Galaxy Q its a HUGE difference and much better product. Nokia is lagging in the tech revolution.

  • Should I get nokia c6 or samsung galaxy Q for fido?

  • what is the price of this phone?

  • Samsung, please, give us a proper QWERTY Android phone in the Euro market. A Galaxy S with a keyboard and proper battery specs + good reception. Please!

  • its really good! awesome keyboard! great touchscreen! a great phone to invest on! and its pretty cheap too

  • It's cheap, decently responsive, and didn't need a data plan. Overall, very happy with this phone. Don't expect an iPhone; expect a sort of bridge between crappy messenger phones and something like the iPhone. The screen is very responsive.

  • its beter idea

  • talk hours 3 ????? why

  • just another dumb phone coming from samsung low battery slow laggy crap processor friends never buy phone with less than 600mhz processor

  • This phone is already confirmed for Q3 launch with Fido. Great phone.

  • Hey, what happened to this Samsung model? Please remove this, if this is a total hoax.

  • This was just rumoured to be released in Canada by Rogers exclusivly, yay Canada!

  • Rogers Wireless has this device confirmed for a Q3 launch. It's being considered a Smartphone Lite and will be available with or without data.

  • hey!when this mobile will comes out?I made decision buy this phone about 1 years ago, when this phone was #1 but now it isn't.

  • yes, its ava for AT&T, GSM 850 is AT&T frequency. I think this phone will come unlocked like the galaxy 551, lets hope so.

  • I truly hope this phone is real and on its way out with the specs above (sounds like a dream! ...in fact, too good to be true...) - finally an Android for the business people like miself! ...goodbye BlackBerry!! :D

  • New Samsung portrait QWERTY rumour, not GSM through:

  • Does anyone know if this phone will be available for att?

  • I want to buy this mobile I want this little bit thicker 15mm And aluminium rubberized metalic body And Battery should be 2500mah, No li-ion technology plz, Use AAA PENCIL batteries And powerful yamaha speaker

  • The HTC T-Mobile MyTouch 4G runs Froyo (2.2) and has secondary camera support, so your statement is incorrect.

  • I find it hard to believe that a Samsung Galaxy Q would be running Froyo. If this phone was to be released, it would need to be at least Gingerbread, because of the Google Nexus S being Gingerbread. And even more so if the Galaxy S gets an update to Gingerbread...

  • dont talk tosh, dual camera worked in 2.1 eclair

  • Wondering if this's for real, or already canned.

  • I'm really interested on this phone, it has the best of touch screens, business, portability, good camera, interface, apps, functionalities, etc. Does anyone know the release date or any official information? Because my understanding is that it was going to be announced on December.. and still news at all.

  • It can't be with Android v2.2 (Froyo) because secondary camera support was added in 2.3

  • thanks. in that case, im not buying this phone. specs are awesome, but the size might be a little hassle to use it.

  • Its rumoured dimensions (120 x 68 x 9.3 mm) are similar to the DROID PRO's (119 x 60 x 11.7 mm), a tad wider and thinner.

  • If it doesn't have a QWERTY, then it isn't the Galaxy Q as rumoured.

  • i'm waiting for milestone 2 to be available here in m'sia. hopefully, by then, this galaxy Q will be announced, so i'll simply just wait for it instead. hoping that the screen's length n wide being at the same measurement. so, it won't be to wide or too long for a mobile phone.

  • > In reply to Vikram @ 2010-10-27 18:11 from Mqf9 3.5" screen is too large for a portrait QWERTY.+ Na....3.5" wont be big. for QWERTY ...check out N97 its almost the same...and i dont think so it will have QWERTY keyboard....coz..its just 9.25 MM.... and QWERTY keyboard will just spoil the looks... it will become like a tab....it should have 3.5" to Max 4" screen....if this phone is for real...m sure gonna buy this...

  • Probably yes if it really comes to fruition. All we got was a rumour and we are not sure if this is for real or not.

  • can this phone do video chat via google talk? using secondary camera?

  • 3.5" screen is too large for a portrait QWERTY.

  • Good point. At this state, I'm wondering if this is for real or not. Thought the "Nexus Two" would be it but apparently it's just an improved Galaxy S. Portrait QWERTY is rare in the Android line-up. CHARM has a poor screen. DROID PRO is going to be uber expensive. SPICE is going to limited markets only. Not to mention all these MOTO phones have locked bootloader. And the handful of the rest are basically non-existent on the market.

  • I liked the Rumoured Specs, however i wish it had much bigger screen...like 3.5" and flash support for the browser.....i believe they gonna use the Samsung Proprietary browser in this phone (Dolphin webkit) browser which supports flash.

  • I don't think it is going to be a slider as it is only 9.25mm thick.

  • wew! it has keyboard. :( iwant cp that has no built in keyboard. i have x1 and im not happy with it

  • omg! im planning to buy htc desire hd but when i saw this one. it changed my mine. i like this one. anyone knows when this one will be release?

  • i wonder about this phone please launch as soon as

  • Where did you it?????

  • It has 2.2 and 1ghz so Flash is likely supported. Judging from the rumoured specs the form factor is probably like the Pre. I just wonder when will it come, or if ever. Last rumour said end-2010 which is about time, and I thought if they're on schedule they would announce it during CITA.

  • Full flash support would have been so much better as more web pages uses flash.i just hope the spec sheet changes or the the phone itself can be updated to incoporate full flash support. i am waiting for this one or htc desire

  • Interested, but is it really coming...?

  • this is what i am looking for.... gr8 features but hope the price to be fit in pocket.. :)

  • Approximately the cost is 31000rupees

  • This is super mobile. its having 1.3MP secondary camera for video calling and it is of android2.2

  • will have style of blackberry.... thinks in a backberry style (screen on top with keyboar under but all static)

  • I really need the all the galaxy Q specifications + a 3.5"~3.7" screen bec. 3.0" is too small (also a phy. qwerty would be V.nice) but other than that it's just great.

  • So basically what you are after is a blackberry?

  • and why not ?? via skype or other jeez man :)

  • ...and I forgot to mention a Xenon flash. This too is often overlook. Yes, a LED flash is a good start, but these wash-out photos and/or result in red-eye. Will there EVER be a perfect phone?

  • Does it have a notification LED? This is such an overlooked feature nowadays but SOOOOOOO useful. I also don't see the mention of a trackball or an optical trackpad. This too is an overlooked feature for when accurate input is required.

  • the keyboard's not small, it's just right.

  • I saw samsung galaxy Q it's like galaxy S with small stupid keyboard under it

  • 1.3mp secondary is excelent, use it for quality videocall on wifi fring its the best

  • will wait for this celpon .all features that im looking for. hoping for reasonable price.

  • Effect and affect don't mean the same thing, and neither to obsolete and absolute. Look them up in a dictionary.

  • Wait, 1.3 MP secondary (videocall) camera??? Must be a typo. Like, what's it gonna do - connect to a computer and make full monitor video calls? I guess it's gonna be the usual 0.3 MP...

  • absolute is not the same as obsolete?? huh? Maybe there is absolete too... And whats the difference between effect and affect? Maybe they are both the same too... :-)

  • i found a picture of it via the gsmarena search and its very similar in shape to the nokia E73 mode/blackberry bold style phones.that would explain the small screen on such a large phone and the qwerty keyboard on such a thin phone also.i was tryin to figure out the 3" screen and qwerty keyboard on a 120x68x9.3mm phone.its cos its not a bar touch screen design but a nokia E73/blackberry bold type design.

  • i agree. It should not be so long, but the width is only a tiny bit too wide. Im waiting for this fantastic phone. It mixes business and multimedia.

  • i think the screen size might be wrong cos the specs say 120 by 68 which would leave a lot of dead space on the phone with a 3" screen.thats a big phone for such a small screen really.

  • awesome.keen to see some pics,and a 3.3" screen like my wave!!!

  • samsung has been doing well... i900 i8910 i8000 i9000 wave galaxy Q well done samsung u found ur way to take down nokia! SAMi is doing just perfect nice company with nice phones

  • well, maybe they could increase a tini-winy bit of the screen to 3.2 inches. Or 3.1. I hope the screen is in landscape, not portrait like the htc trophy.

  • Did u mean obsolete or absolute???

  • The screen is perfect . Not to big , just perfect . Why did you whant a big screan ? much smaller is great for this specification . The samll screan is good for the design

  • all nokia phones are allready absolete

  • Make the screen 3.5" and Xenon Flash. Closest rival would be Motorola's 2Ghz Android phone. If Motorola comes out with Gorilla glass and same feature as Galaxy Q then this Samsung is in trouble.

  • same here!

  • I do hope Samsung comes up with a decent smart dialing feature for this one. The smart dialing they have right now just plain sucks and is pretty much the most useless feature on their overall amazing smartphones. It's not a dealbreaker though. But still, it'd be a very good improvement, for me that is.

  • This should be the first time I ever want a Samsung :)

  • perfect after Wave and Galaxy S. Bye Bye BlackBerry and Nokia E

  • if this phone is a reality....nokia shud learn something from samsung about their e series....its gona make them obsolete!

  • I have bought Wave 8500 in Iran, and I think this is my second Samsung, this is a perfect mobile and I wait for it.

  • Samsung with blackberry like features, Its name should be Samsung Ultimate.

  • The best phone ever!

  • Only LED-flash!!. :) Where is Dual Led-flash or Xenon-flash??.

  • Oh man had decided to go 4 galaxy s when galaxy q hit me with its model and extra features(LED flash,Android 2.2,QWERTY keypad,1.3 secondary camera,HD video, optical trackpad).....Will wait sure 4 samsung 2 hit the market again

  • Its freakin awesome fone.... hope the price will resonable.... but fantabulous mobile ... hats off

  • would be a kick ass mobile phone, just perfect!

  • this is soo perfecto!

  • Lol...good phone...I really like it...Qwerty keyboard, 8mp camera, wifi...great!!!

  • CORRECTION GSMArena!! Front cam is 1.3 mp and not as mentioned in your spec sheet.

  • when i saw the photo i thought i'd have a 2,4 screen,, 3.0 screen is not bad- i believe- and with a wvga resolution and a snapy 1ghz cpu this seems like a really solid bussiness phone that won't fall short multimedia-wise , altjough samsung has a history in declaring phones then dropping them,,,

  • If this is a true phone, it will be my first Samsung !

  • Capacitive touchscreen, qwerty and Android. Perfect!
