  • Bought it for my son in 2012, now he is 8 year old. And now my second son uses it. Good toy/tablet for children (2yr to 5yr) with parent supervision.

  • You could.......in fact over at XDA, they have continually built ROMS and have a forum for the Samsung 10.1 (P7510, P7500...and other versions). 1. First root 2. Then sideload a recovery via ADB connection via a computer - either TWRP (which is my favorite) or CWM. (the advantages using TWRP is everything is touchscreen....CWM is just too awkward) 3. Download a ROM (which will be a zip file) - you can find a decent one for the 10.1 over at XDA - 4. Download GAPPs (which is the equivalent of Google Play Services/Play Store) - Developers usually list the Gapps version that will work for the ROM in the forums 5. Reboot into Recovery (using Power button and Vol down) 6. Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, System and Data.... 7. Install the ROM and GAPPs Doing this will breathe life into an old device (one which I got with Honeycomb 3.0!) *The latest ROMS, Lollipop & Marshmallow I downloaded is giving me problems with Google Play Services.....and I installed Gapps (pico)...so not sure whats going on

  • This P7510 version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is only a WiFi device. It does NOT have a cellular phone built in, so you can't make phone calls unless you have a WiFi connection and have installed something like Skype. Android is not the same as BlackBerry OS ... so no, of course it doesn't have BBM. It's now an OLD tablet, and the last version of Android available for it from Samsung was IceCreamSandwich, which means a lot of the newer apps will either not run or will be restricted in functionality. Similarly it doesn't have a lot of memory so many apps will suddenly just die because they run out. It's very frustrating to browse the web and have the browser just disappear. There are newer Galaxy tablets. which may fit modern needs much better.

  • If you find that the battery is not charging, cannot hold a charge or drains very quickly the battery would need to be replaced. It is under the screen and takes a third of the space of the tablet components. It's a fairly simple process and can be done in about 20minutes.There are about a dozen YouTube videos on describing the steps. Simply search 'Replacing P7510 tablet battery'

  • Try leaving it plugged in to charging and just set it aside. Try again the next day or you may try holding the button down for a good count of 20-25 counts, sometimes this works for me. My hubby will mess with it and mess with it, cussing and fumming for a good 30 minutes and I just ask for it, then plug it in and hold the button down and it works every time for me. Then I just graciously smile at my hubby and give it back to him without saying another word. Good luck and hopes this works for you.

  • Anyone with this device should root it and install CM10 4.2 JB. Easy to do and 1000% better performance.

  • The only thing that wont work is CDMA (Sprint/Tmobile) wireless. But you could find an AP or tether it to an Int smartphone with GSM. YOu would also need a EU power adapter to charge it.

  • just upgraded to ics 4.04 via odin using a samfirmware rom for europe. Its like having a brand new tablet. Browser doesnt crash anymore and is lightening fast, the icons and the screen look amazing, this is how the tab should of being from the start. I new my country would not get the upgrade anytime soon so I just used odin. It is super easy to do and there are heaps of tutorials on the net. good luck. ,

  • This is officially one of the worst devices I own.... mediocre at best. Not to mention the Kies software, which is a completely useless piece of bloatware.... The UI is laggy, applications crash for no reason and for the price it just can't compete. Honestly if you are considering this device.... don't waste your time or money. I hate to say it, but I regret not buying an iPad.... its limited, but at least it works.

  • I use the program "KIES". It's an official program for Samsung. I can't transfe files to the tablet as simply as connecting to a PC with the USB cable, the files doesn't appear in my tab if I do that, so, download Kies and you will be able to transfer files! I did it.

  • Great tablet, 100% better than the ipad 2. The tablet is of great design and is so thin. I have found the battery is brilliant. Never really seems to need charging. The screen resolution is breathtaking. Although the screen resolution is not as good as the ipad 3 its better in other ways. Android is more costomisable and gives you more freedom to explore and browse the web. Ice cream sandwich 4.0 will also be coming soon. For me this is a good buy. I would recommend to anyone.

  • Yes, google play has more apps, but many of them are RUBBISH or LOW QUALITY APPS.

  • galaxy tab he can just dump movies/music on with freedom in comparison to teh ipad2's apple resistrictions (Video file type). Batter life seems to be the same.. that and The Galaxy tab isnt solid metal and glass like the ipad so if he drops it it wont be a case of FORCE+MASS = Destruction.

  • I've actually seen someone with an e-reader/tablet to their ear making a phone call. Looks like the 70's/80's movies where people walk around with GIANT BOOM BOXES on their shoulder. Looked stupid then, talking to a tablet will always be a WTF.

This Galaxy Tab is just c/p. iPad has better batery life, stronger case made of one part of aluminium (vs. plastic) and has much more and beter aplications specific for big tablet screen and accsesorize. And after all iPad would have update for OS many years after (galaxy tab wont) and it has better price. iPad is beter choice ;)

  • Galaxy Tab, the browsing on the internet is a much smoother experience over the ipad2, it does feature flash and it is amazing at switching between app's Don't get me the iPad2 is a good device, but if your after something more like a home PC/Laptop the Galaxy Tab is the way to go.

  • Great device specially when you get the USB connection and HDMI connection kits. Plays movies and songs perfectly... tons of apps on the market. You can even hook an ordinary mouse, keyboard, ...Flash sticks and hard drives are great storage expansion. Only I think the policy of Samsung pricing is a set back... The prices of samsung devices varies dramatically and also they drops very fast.

Than others recommending a 9.7incher 3g idevice just for phone calls sake though its widely known that no tab ezcept for origibal galaxy tab 7inch can natively make calls although considered a redundant feature, for this is what mobile phones are for. Why are people here so desperate to stick a 9-10incher to their ears aren't the radiations from their usual mobile phones enough to fry their brains?if they have any left.

  • I have this tab along with my iPad 2. The Galaxy Tab is great and you do not really need 3G. You have wifi so cam make SMS or calls through many applications. And where wifi not available you can provide the external 3G or wifi through your phone such as iPhone or Galaxy S2. The big problem with this device is limited Application made specially for this Tab. Many applications in market place are just link to Tab browser. So not so good

  • awesome tab!!! just got it last night from usa...only hitch that i faced after toying it for about 5 hours is that while listening to music via the head phones that came with the tab, the headphone to not go in smoothly and they need to be a bit out of socket if you want to listen to the music if u shove the jack fully down (like the way its supposed to be) the music stops and while u shove the 3.5 jack in the music goes to pause as if some error has occurred!!! whats up with that? all and all android rocks.

  • This tablet is awesome. I purchased it from USA bestbuy. It is very fast and very good battery life. Regarding internet, there is no use of 3g because if u have 3g on your phone u can use the same internet on tablet. I have a 2G plan in India which is very cheap Rs. 99/2GB data. The best part is I can use my phone's internet on the tablet via Motorola Milestone 2 3g wifi hotspot and also via bluetooth teethering. So my internet requirements have been dealt nicely and the internet is superfast even with my 2G plan. Can't imagine the diff over wifi and bluetooth internet of phone. This is a must buy tablet. I have put many HD games already on the tablet like Fruit Ninja, Riptide etc.

  • Hi The Old Galaxy Tab 10.1v (also known as P7000) Hah an 8MP Camera, the back design is not as smooth as the New Galaxy Tab 10.1 which was down graded on the Camera. It is a little bit thinner.

I live is South Africa- almost two months after i bought my Galaxy Tab 10.1v from Vodacom- still nover covers or accessories- where can i get them

  • Dear users, I had this tab for the last week. It is great but I,m worried about the accessories as I bought it from the states while I live in egypt. My question is does thie tab have the same socket like the one in galaxy tab 1000? So ican use its accessories and charger for my tab10.1? Thanks

  • The Android application developers just need to tune the applications a bit and add them honeycomb support for them to run perfectly on that one.

  • The hardware is really great, unfortunately it is let down by having Android which is not yet mature on tablets. Apps are virtually non-existent, and cannot compete with the Apple app store. Hopefully the next generation will be able to catch up to iPad, with better apps. For now, there is no point in buying the Galaxy Tab, as it will be like buying a great computer, with no software to run.

  • No, it's not. The "old" model has a rear 8mp camera, but it has been renamed "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1V" and is sold exclusively by Vodafone. They downgraded the rear camera when they made it thinner following the release of iPad2.

  • By the way if you are in UK then yes the camera will be 8MP as UK is receiving the thick version. Other countries will receive the slim version which is the one showcased here. Also, 3G compatible means you can use Internet on the tab, but it does not make phone calls.

  • Then your information must be outdated. Yes the Galaxy Tab was originally 8MP. However Samsung went back after seeing the IPad 2 and redesigned the Galaxy Tab, making it slimmer. To compensate for the slimness, they had to put a 3MP camera instead of 8MP.

  • half the crap on here is wrong i work for Vodafone i had the people from samsung here this device runs on a 1.2ghz system not 1ghz also had a 8mp cam on the back and is 3G compatable

  • Samsung GALAXY 10.1 will not use the Touchwiz UI because it is said that this tablet will be in "full google experience" I saw it on youtube on one of the reviews.

  • why? because its more convinient...sometimes when i dont wanna put my headphones on, which are stereo, i can hear the sound thru the stereo speakers which make a difference from mono depending the way you hold the tablet and the sound effects like surround sound for example. Thats only my opinion, though...

  • Erm...this is released in June. I hardly think that TouchWiz will be finished now if it still has 3 months until release.

  • I was panning to buy one until I have noticed the new added specification of TouchWizz. NO THANKS Samsung, my money stays in my wallet. I want a google experience not a laggy custom interface, as you can see on youtube, after they decided to add the touch wizz the tablet is laggy. To bad, I really wanted to buy one :(
