i had strip problem display was'nt showing up, gave some one in market to fix it he proved a criminal and ate my phone and all it's accessories with box curse you technicians. i remember, i was a 13-14 year old young boy.. Kwakson0, it's probably not charging properly. mine was like that too (usb charging/transfer port was shot). i bought a wall charger and an extra battery online and that's how i get a 'charge'. as for file transfers, i just use bluetooth. i use this phone as my backup when im travelling overseas.

After 5 years using this phone i have to say that its the most reliable phone i've ever had since 1998.Every year i was changing phone, this one the only thing i've changed was a cable of the open close slide bar. i haven't even changed its original battery and still stands for about 3 days with proper use. Its cons is that has many bugs but with task manager evrything ok.Samsungs update site is not popular for user:(( its,actually for updates is awfull for up to 2 year phones. I have to say that i am satisfied with this phone and connected emotional with it:) ,after 5 years its difficult to say i buy new one although it still works fine.

The battery is horrible. If you are lucky then you will get 10-12 hours out of it with GPS, Wifi and 3G turned off. Used a lot of phones and this is the worst. It only looks awesome and promising. Samsung, shame on U!

yes there's a way to make images more clear when using the camera the steps are: 1-open your camrea(as if you want to take a pic). 2-choose 'options' which is in the right corner. 3-tool bar will appear on top of the screen so you need to choose the last option 'settings'. 4-press ok on settings and you will see two options general,image choose general. 5-an option called Anti-Shake will appear and that's is the important option,turn it to on and that shall do it.hope that will help you with your problem.

Hello everyone. In my country, Chile, its quite expensive to get a new phone, so I bought this one from a friend of mine. I did it mainly for it camera features, yet I enjoy surfing on internet. I've had a problem (or what I believe is a problem). When I enter youtube.com instead of playing videos right from the web my cellphone opens the Realplayer application, such as on N95-8gb. I downloaded Symbian's Youtube application, but videos lag. Is there any problem with the device or am I doing something wrong? Thanks everyone!

You need to download the FreeSigner.sisx app and install it into your phone, then go to this site and register Request for a OPDA developer certificate and key for your phone.. If you're already registered, the next step would be, is to enter your phone's imei # and mobile phone model.. When you're done sending your request logout your account and do check after 12-24hrs, that's their processing time of your requested developer's cert and key files. If you already received the .cert and .key files on your account, download it to your pc, then transfer it to your phone. Be sure that you've already installed the freesigner app first on your phone, then copy and paste the .cert & .key files to the freesigner named folder.. Now Run the freesigner app, then assign the new .cert and .key files to your freesigner app, then locate the jbtaskmanager.sis & sign it using your new downloaded .cert and .key files. You'll noticed that the jbtaskmanager is already being signed, 'cause from jbtaskmanager it will be renamed to jbtaskmanager_signed.sisx Now after signing it you'll be able to install it on your phone without being prompted of developer certificate. In my case i signed first all the applications i wanted to install on my phone, so i won't be prompted of certification issues whenever i want to install them.. ^_^

Btw i'm using the 16GB version+16GB memry card, still my phone+card almost full that's why i'm planning to upgrade my 16GB card to 32GB if some1 here could only confirmed that it do really works.. I got tons of files from pictures=5K- plus,musics=8days&10hours,apps=5­ 00,games=3K- plus,document=100plus&MoviesSsSs!!!=120plus.­­ i NEED to BUT i'm kinda HESITATING on upgrading my memry card cause according to innov8 specifications that it only support 16gb card..=( before i bought my innov8 i used to use my sony ericssonZ800i and according to gsmarena & sony ericsson official site that SEZ800i support only 1GB memry card, so i did bought the 1GB card and it did worked gr8! Then few mo.s later i upgraded my card to 2GB and it's working smoothly. Again few mo.s later i said at the back of my mind that why not give it a try a 4GB card, so i did bought 4GB card for my SEZ800i and sadly it didn't work even thoug the store technician formatted it couple of times..=( so what i did i experimented my 4Gb card and i discovered the use of memry card format trick. This trick works for all 1GB card support mobile phones. I formatted my 4GB card to "FAT" format not FAT32, then i inserted it into my SEZ800i and it worked flawlessly!!!...^_^ That's why i'm asking If any1 here has a 32gb microSD card and innov8 phone of course to pls. try to test it for me/us innov8ters!.. -for whoever gonna run this test- Pls. do reformat the memry card to "FAT32" not NTFS format and try to check if the phone recognizes that a memry card is inserted.. Pls. don't forget to let us know about the results.. thnx! ^_^

David just in case you want to try and run gameboy advanced games on your innova8 you need to hack your phone first and download the gba emulator. I'll be providing you the steps how to do it, but you'll be needing those applications below to be able to hack it.. just google it david and you'll find them..^_^

i saw various steps on how to hack this handset in the web, but you need to restart your phone after hacking it, so what i did i made some modifications & no rebooting is needed. these are my steps on how to hack samsung innov8 8gb/16gb "without rebooting the phone", now let's start... 1. set date to 2009. 2. install pips_nokia, secman v1.1, & x-plorer. 3. then set the date back to 2011. 4. then install drakkarious 3.01, hellocarbride & helloox v2.04 in your phone mass storage, but don't run those apps yet. 5. then open x-plorer application, press number zero=0, then check the 4 boxes. 6. using x-plorer copy all the files inside e:(to c) named folder & paste it to c:system folder. inside the (to c) named folder are private folder,resource folder, sys folder, cprofdriver_sisx.ldd, installerserver.exe, & swicertstoreupdater.exe paste all these files to c:system folder. 7. then close x-plore app. 8. then set the date back to 2009. 9. then open hellocarbride, press options button(left selection key) & select menu1. 10. then open helloox v2.04 & keep tapping the down key button untill the intallation process is complete. 11. install rompatcher when prompted, decline modo installation process. 12. wait while the helloox v2.04 is removing unneeded files, then uninstall heloox v2.04 when prompted ok to uninstall it. 13. now your phone is hacked!!! you can start installing any applications you want without restarting your phone. 14. now before installing the application you want to install on your handset, first open the rompatcher app & select the following. '/installerserver_fp2 '/open4all_rp+ so that your phone will be in hack mode david. now go back and select the application that you want to install and install it as usual. now your phone wi'll be able to install n-gage app and n-gage games as well. btw david i'm using ngage version 1.40.. note: don't forget to deactivate all the patchs in the rompatcher app only if you’'re going to play n-gage games, so that you will not encounter any problem running the game…..ok ;) hope all these will help you david..^_^

@Aysha i've had that experience before, but not on this handset though. Have you tried using your charge to other phone? Just to check and to confirm if it works to other handset with same charging port, if still didn't work i think you bought a faulty charger. If it did really worked to other handset, i guess there's something wrong with your usb charging port.. I also bought my self a universal clip charger, so i can charge my other spare batteries. My clip charge will only take 7 hours to fully charge my batteries, depending on my battery mAh though. The higher mAh of the battery, the longer time it takes to fully charger it. My handset comes w/ 1200mAh battery.. About your new battery many hours did you tried charging it? Some says it would be good to charge it for at least 12hours from the initial charge/use and use the phone untill it turn itself off.. This time don't turn ON your phone yet, just let it charge for 9 hours.. Do that cycle for 1-2 months or make it as a habit, cause it really helps to improve the life of your battery.. ^_^

To increase the battery life you can also install Jbak TaskMan and then you will be able to easily close all the unnecessary processes. Also if you are using Garmin then watch for the process called TSRAutoStart.exe. This background process is wasting away your battery life.

the solution to ur problem is very easy. just select sms memory to SIM then delete all the messages which are stored in ur SIM. the blinking envelope icon will disappear.

Try to slide your phone halfway and try to check 1 by 1 those menu, power, selection keys and if those keys works with your phone slided halfway i'm pretty sure that it's time for you to replace your ribbon flex. The keys on the front cover and keypads has different connections, that's why you wonder your keypads are working well and some of the keys on the front cover are malfunctioning, it's because the ribbon flex has torn due to uncountable sliding-up & down the front cover. That's the usual problem of slide-up & flip designed phones, so sooner or later ribbon flex will worn out. Changing your ribbon flex will solve the ff: -the 12 keys on the front cover will function again -front camera -auto brightness sensor -earpiece -the 16M color LCD display will work again, no more black or white screen display. I haven't changed my ribbon flex yet since i bought my innov8, i've been using this phone since april 2009. i've managed to reinfroced my flex to make more durable and last longer..^_^

Yup! kelvin is right, in addition to that you can also use nokia BL-4C & Samsung L700 batteries as well, It has d same thickness with d original battery. d nokia BL-5C battery is little bit thicker about 1mm.. All-in-all i have 6 batteries on hand, 2 nokia BL-4C, 1 BL-5C, 2 Samsung L700 & 1 Samsung innov8 origanal battery..^_^ I rarely connect my phone to my usb charger whenever my phone runs-out of power, i jz replace my drained battery w/d fully charged one..^_^ I also bought 1 universal clip fast charger to charge my other spare batteries. ^_^ running out of power is not a prob on my innov8, in my case..^_^ Before i've charged my firmware my phone can only last for 3 to 4hrs w/heavy usage, 6 to 7hrs minimum usage.. Then i've changed my phone's firmware, flashed it w/ i8510XXIB2 firmware version. Now my phone can stand for 6 to 7hrs on max. usage, 12 to 14hrs on minimum. Download & Install jbaktaskmanager in your phone, kill this 3 system app- screencapturer, screensaver & autolock.. Using the jbaktaskmanager application you can also increase the master audio volume of this phone, jz go to jbaktask app, press #, scroll up & look for audio test mode, then press m2-open's music player, play any music then go back to jbtask & select again audio test mode and tweak d system audio volume, change d db values..^_^ to increase your battery life span turn of d ff: -theme effect -auto brightness, set to lowest, power save on -optical track pad -switch to gsm network, if you're not subscribed to 3g connection -wi-fi auto scanning, if your not using wi-fi connection.. I hacked my phone using hellox, intalled n-gage games, gba games, sega games, vnes games..^_^ this phone can read lot of audio & video codecs, unlike some phones.. I'm enjoyin' my innov8 to it's maximum potentials.. XD For me definitely still 1 of the best phone out of the market 'till today, though it's almost 3yrs now since d 1st day it was released. Still my innov8 Rockz!!!...

i love all innov8 functions, my brother just gave me a few days ago.. though it's years ago product, i think i dare comparing it to the latest handset:) but i have a little problem... is it took hours to charge it? in my case it need 6 hours for fully charge it... i try to bought a new battery and a new charger still it took 6 hours to charge..

To all users of innov8, i encourage you to upgrade to XXBI2 firmware..it's discussed in samsungi8510.com under the forums....it will greatly enhance the overall speed and battery performance of your phone...I'm using the phone for 2 years, and I honestly had some problem with the flex,and USB port but managed to get it repaired and bought extra battery to make it last longer...For those who are unaware of the OS: it's symbian s60v3 same with n86 and n96 OS. It can be hacked, installed with n-gage, any jar, sis, sisx and ngage. Most of recent samsung phones use the same DSP Audio chip as iPods so i presume this is the reason for its excellent audio quality in the test. Some users complain of the blurry pictures; its because the noise algorithm is suppressing the noise and because of that, somehow the shutter speed is slowed down, if you want sharper and yet grainy, you can choose the flash combined with Auto @ ISO 800-1600. Touchscreen is the only thing that they can boast from this device so keep on lovin' your innov8....

innov8 photos are much more vivid and natural especially in very bright conditions wherein carl zeiss lenses get the purple fringing...you just have to explore the settings, try & test it cause you ain't got a PID controller to calibrate your camera settings everytime you use it........"it's there, you just have to look closer"..

I have just purchased this phone second-hand and it's great! After altering the contrast vs. using the wdr the pictures do appear to be better. The calls are super clear on both speaker and by use of the handset. It's a great phone and successor to the N95 8gb I've had for 5 years.

this phone truly make me dissapointed. it is true that the camera has 8MP, and thats good of course.. but..after you use it to shoot you will found that the quality of the picture is BAD, the color of the picture looks different than the real color. if u dont trust me..just check it, compare it with the true winner of 8MP cameraphone..the Nokia N86 gsmarena isnt independent when reviewing about camera..

Hi! I'm back, It's me again joseph, hey my sumsung hanset died 3 weeks ago, it hangs and stuck on samsung innov8 logo everytime i restart the phone, 'cause i've tried flashing it with various of firmwares which i've downloaded from the internet. You know do it your self thing to save some money, i might do it my self than sending it to sumsung service center for firmware updates that will surely cost me a lot of money and it's way too expensive since they don't offer latest firmware which fixes the battery and lipsync issues. my problem was my innov8 modem download option was corrupted, 'cause during flashing process my usb datacable glitched and the flashing process was interrupted, from there my sumsung innov8 starts hanging and stuck on samsung innov8 logo over-and-over again,i tried reflashing it again but i still have the same thing. i went to a mobile repair shop "not samsung's service center" good thing though they know how to fix my handset for cheaper service charge, they used RIFF-BOX G-TAG to fix it for P1,200.00, my samsung innov8 was Resurrected!.. Now it's alive and working again, then i've flashed it again unofficial way using apollo and firmwares that i've downloaded. Now it works great! camera save its settings, lipsync fixed, battery last much longer than before i updated my firmware, now my phone stands for 5hours on heavy usage with video recording, lots of picture taking, sms sending, few calls though but i'm always on 3G internet browsing and lots of file downloading too.. I'm using "bengali" firmware right now which gives me 54mb of RAM space, if you want more ram space you can use the XXIB2 firmware which gives you 57mb of ram.. I also reinforced my ribbon flex,now it's much more durable, no spec of dust under my screen 'cause i've covered those tiny holes under its casing, enhanced the sliding mechanism of my phone and tweaked the loudspeaker settings, it has more bass now and excellent sound quality & clarity.. I have 52 full movies in my phone and enjoying it's dvd movie quality..=) I LOVE MY INNOV8! 'CAUSE IT GIVES ME ALL THE FEATURES THAT I NEED ON A MOBILE HANDSET! My innov8 rockz!!! ^_^

I've had this phone for 2 years and it continues to impress both me and my friends and out performs most phones currently on the market. I would recommend it to anyone requiring a phone to take good quality pics and store music and videos. I took it to the mobile repair shop and they have the technology to upgrade the software, which i did late last year. If you are vigilant, make sure you delete things you dont want etc the memory is fantastic. I have never had an issue and love the GPS (i dont get lost anymore) and the internet connection is great. I've paid many bills over the internet and find it a terrific powerhouse of a phone :)

Two days ago my phone just "dies" sort of. When I power on the phone, it asks me for pin.. I try to enter it but the "ok" buttons, center and top left button doesn't work. I open it and check it out, it's not a hardware problem. So I disable the pin number by another phone but I still have security code in my phone and the upper buttons doesn't seem to work, except the power on/off button. I have the phone for ~2yr now and suddendly "died". I've had this phone for 2 yrs and it continues to amaze my friends. I have 8 movies currently installed and the phone is still laughing with it's 16gig mem. Charge phone every night so battery has never been an issue. No wobbling at all with flap and not a spec of dust under screen so I don't know how some people have managed to do that. I work in a plumbing and tile shop so it's not like I don't work in fairly dirty conditions. My phones been dropped, jabbed with pipe and experiences dust storms of note and it's still looking shweet. I don't know why the review of this phone says GPS doesn't have voice guided nav. I use it every weekend when we camp and I have a choice of voices I can listen to. In fact, I was listening to an Aussie last week and changed to a South African yesterday. And the speaker is uber loud which is great.

I am verryhappy whit this phone, nice camera, GPS works great, sound si good, i have 8GB and have no problems, i dont realy need updates , iv cracked my phone whit OX2, so now the symbian has it's full potential. Lots of programs and themes. Only 1 thing i dont like is poor battery life. I got a second one , so thats problems gone :) Great and powerfull phone. Absolute rubbish phone. Had it for 2 years now and extremely disappointed. Can't believe it is still rated so high on this site! First off, I agree with previous comments. NO updates whatsoever! From day 1 I had an issue with my internal 16gb memory. Currently I am unable to use it at all. From day 1 I had an issue installing my Mobile Navigator maps. Only RECENTLY did I find out on a blog that I had to manually create directory structures on the thing to be able to install my maps. Pathetic. Also... recently my GPS just doesn't work AND my camera can't focus any more. Absolute junk. Don't get this phone.

I have the Galaxy S now and its fantastic. but I still have my INNOV8 also which I think was best phone Samsung ever built. The put a ROM in it 2 years ago that solved the battery problem I get 7 days standby. The dual speakers have the best sound I ever heard from a phone and the camera is top notch. But now I am hooked on the Galaxy. Amazing screen....total blows away ANY iPhone. also the Iphone4. just search the |YouTube comparsions. Galaxy bests the iphone hands down in EVERYTHING.

all you need are tricks bro.... I can say that this phone could produce a similar shot with a point-and-shoot.......you just need to familiarize on the phone's capability for e.g. Auto-Mode is always preferred even at night with ambient lighting since it optimizes the shutter speed..... Night Shot will surely take time on a shot... Pushing flash on a low-light shot is good until ISO 800...Samsung's got a good Image Processing unlike Noisy Nokia Algorithms(that's why they need xenon)...Maybe blurriness can be solved with firmware update since phone's response is greatly improved.. *There's nothing you can do about the anti-shake turning off every now and then...it's there since g800 On audio, the audio quality when surround is ON is surprisingly similar on my i-touch......I use Wide when connected to high-powered speakers... I wonder why Samsung stopped producing this because only a few knows that this phone exist and that this is a jam-packed device...Maybe N86 is as good but compared to n95 and n82 and other low-end touchscreen phones?...

@ Arturas: See, I never use Digital Zoom while snapping, and I view photos on PC Monitor. What I'm saying is that the shutter timing is so damn slow... 1/30 of a second is so slow, it makes you blur the photo most of the time, unless you're using a tripod (which who uses for a mobile?). Evening photos are almost always blurry...! Like you say, one may tweak settings but the camera doesn't save them. Close the camera once and damn- most of your settings gone! And all of my points are true for me, can't say why you disagree. Maybe you didn't notice...? or your firmware was better than XXHJ3? -- @ mach: Yes, I should NOT have used "Way above". N86 and innov8 are quite similar in features, give or take few features. -- @ gom: Sound is great except a little lower bass when using headset. Get a bassy headset and its fine... Connection: Good Battery: Average, one-two days at most.

this phone's great......had problems on the previous firmware but just go to innov8 forum and upgrade to the XXBI2 firmware.....now, the phone is speeedy(and the battery life is extended) + i managed to get n-gage working......loudspeaker's the best and the camera is an over-all performer.....just need to find the rights settings in low-light with flash....in daytime, its like a point-and-shoot digicam in quality

I have had this phone for around 7 months now.. After a while of having the phone, you start to realise that the phone isn't as brilliant as it looks or what people may make it out to be. Some of the main problems about this phone are: - Dust collects under the screen, and there is no way of solving this problem unless you send it back to Samsung; if its not under gurantee you will be charged. - Hardly any updates! Samsung never release updates for this phone, so bug fixes etc will not be fixed! - Its a little slow.. Photos and videos take a while to load which can be annoying and the menu sometimes lags. - Battery life is awfull, it needs charging every day, even if you don't use it a lot. I reccomend that you don't purchase this phone, it's a tad out dated now and it has to many issues that samsung cant be bothered to address.

"Feature wise - yes, it is way better than N86..." I have both i8510 and N86, and use them both everyday. I don't know why you say i8510 is "way better" than the N86. i8510 does have a 0.2-inch screen advantage and a trackpad. But N86 has much better camera quality and stronger flash, better build quality, and has AMOLED display. N86 also has OVI apps and free Ovi Maps for life. I agree with the reliability and screen issue of the i8510 and Samsung doesn't update their software as much as Nokia does. Last update for i8510 was I think last year, N86 was just this past one or two months.

Well I have this phone too and I can tell that only a few of your points are true. So I will agree on you only on these points: 3, 7 and 8. Other than that, completely disagree about the camera, it's perfect I'd say and you can also tweak the settings if you don't like something about it's photographing, and yeah, when you make digital zoom when making a video it's completely normal that the quality gets worse a lot because it's a DIGITAL zoom, it's not optical if you understand that... It might be slightly slower in menus, but other than that this device is raw power! Really recommend this to anyone who's not looking for the newest and most expensive touchscreen. Besides it's photos are waaaaaay better than most of the newest phones in the market.

Guys, I have this phone. But please, I don't recommend you to purchase it... It has good points too, but the bad points are:-> 1. Photos in slight dark, are blurry, and anti shake turns itself off many times, Moreover, anti shake and flash can't be used at same time, 2. Videos have horrible audio quality, and lots of missed frames, and even 2x zoom makes its quality bad, 3. The paintjob wears out fast, mine is reflective metal now, instead of black, 4. There's current flowing through its body, which you can get shocked by, if its connected to TV/ Laptop, etc. and if you are barefoot, 5. its screen updates 1 second later after you press a button while its on standby. Until then, it shows the last screen position which maybe an older time... 6. Radio is buggy. It won't respond until you press a key ten times. If you chose directional key for usage instead, it changes channels damn slowly. 7. The USB wire got defective within 9 months of normal usage. I had to purchase a new one which was of Nokia 5130 Xpressmusic. The charger got defective within 4 months and a warranty replacement was provided. Then again, it went kaput at 10 months, then I had to purchase it from market. 8. Battery life is not even useable for 1 day full of usage. I updated the firmware from to XXHJ3 through Samsung Centre, but NO PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED. In fact, one of the 3D games disappeared and the other doesn't work anymore, after the update. And GSMArena, why didn't you disclose these points in your review? Very bad journalism on your part.

The main problem with this phone is the person holding it. If one is smart enough to flash a good firmware and tweak it afterwards this is probably the best 8 Mpx phone ever made. There are thousands of applications, themes, etc that will make your life easier. But why spend a few minutes researching stuff when you can whine.

Regarding to the camer it has a better quality then most, but perhaps would only compare it to 3.2 mgpx's or even 5 from Nokia. The problem its having a smal sensor to capture photos, which means, it can have a pretty good detail but is limited on size. That reduces the fun on the i8510 camera. But still, it has powerfull features and a weird blueish flash plus it takes good pictures by night (when you aren't shking ...). You may wanna look for photo examples to make sure if this is want you want. And you should also see nokia n8 (symbian with 12mgpx), that one seems to ve the best camera phone on the market for now ...

Hi Regarding help with device not found. Try installing drivers specially usb drivers and try connecting it with other ports also. Also disconnect any usb drive properly otherwise on next boot it will be engaged and you wont be able to use it properly resulting to blue screen errors. Hope this will solve your problem like mine got sloved.

I know Symbians might hang here or there, having used them since 4-5 years now. But my main problem is NO SOFTWARE UPDATE by Samsung. Even the updates given have 1-2 more or less softwares, that's all! No other changes. There are so many minor glitches. Like, Ringtone option shows every full song on the phone, instead of contents of the "Sounds" folder only. Camera switches off Anti Shake everytime and photos then come out blurry! Search the internet and you'll find "Countless" number of unsatisfied INNOV8 owners, including me of course...

The samsung i8510 has a password to lock the keypad, that means lock all the phone. To lock images or videos you need to download some app. With sony you can also download apps for this purpose.

I8510 is one of the best phone out there, period. Regarding to photos / video is natural that if you tremble, the photos will outfocused, and lets face, most phones suffer from that. Video quality is good, sound could be a lot better but it depends on what intentions they have when developing it. It will be different for each brand. Regarding to battery life the I8510 samsung faces the same problem, since its OS is Symbian OS v9.3, Series 60 rel. 3.2, as may others out there. Here are some advices. Stop the wifi search, wifi is always turned on and searching for lans. If D-Pad on, turn it off, and the main thing is to disable auto-brightness off and turn the display brightness down. The 3G network maybe also something to turn off. Here's the catch, the phone last now 2 days full but will never last more than that. Why ? Nokia sabotage ... It ain't problem from the phone, its just that nokia OS doesn't allow better use from it. Samsung, SE Vivaz for example, go and search comments for every phone with symbian in these days, all suffer what looks like a common sindrome ... Sabotage.

Feature wise - yes, it is way better than N86... Reliability wise - NO, My i8510 has gone to service centre 4-5 times... It gathers mud inside the screen easily, software updates given are not satisfactory, sometimes, images come out blurred, and all the time, I have to keep switching ON the Anti Shake option... because, it gets off automatically... I suggest that for peace of mind, you get the N86 only ... I'm very disappointed taking INNOV8, after owning Nokia 6670 and N91...

Camera images are high quality, no yellow tinge like you said... But everytime you switch camera on, you'll have to switch Anti Shake on too... But videos have some problems, like video's sound is low quality compared to other sets, although voice can be understood... Also, Video sometimes skips frames when phone is shaken a bit... I wonder why GSMArena did not mention this, before I purchased the set... Did they get a better software version than I have?? Also, Why can't they mention Firmware Versions of the sets they test? It's so easy ... Enter *#0000# and it will display it.

You connect it at the two ends. not at the middle one. The seller can teach you. There is a button there which would show you if it is correctly connected, if so there will be a red light when you push the button. if not then flip the battery and try again

The brand of the charger is QQJDS it kinda looks like a giant clothes pin. You clamp the battery and connect the wires to the metal spot of the battery then plug. A full charge can last me 3 days

Hey does anybody else who owns this phone have a problem about charging? My experience is that if I use my phone's charger it will charge a couple of minutes then it stop charging even though it is not full. I just kept the charger in the box now and bought an extra battery and a universal battery charger made from China. Anybody has another solution for the charging port problem?

Best firmware for samsung INNOV8 at least for me is I8510XXIA1, with this firmware battery holds approximately 4-5 days with one charge. Hope that helps ...

Hi, May be in different country, the usage of the battery is depend on the telco service and it different radio frequency used. So in different country your INNOV8 will have different performance and battery life compare to others. I had so many apps installed on my INNOV8. My firmware was I8510DJHI1, and it provide better performance than "XXIB2" firmware that 1 of my friend used on his phone. My phone never hang :) And my INNOV8 can last at least 3 to 4 days :D @ Mendes For me I personally like the phone automatically lock when I slide down rather than I ask every time when slide down like Nokia S40 device. Due to my working environment I like this kind of phone locking style. @ Roll If you really want to update the firmware please give "ZXIE1" a try. It won't disappoint you. Bear in mind that every firmware has it own flaw and benefit. Nothing is perfect. It depend on your personal interest. The latest firmware "XXIJ1" seem perform slower. Thank you very much.

WHY get a touchscreen, which are so annoying to text on, when you can just get a mouse instead and still keep the keypad? :-) For me, it is the perfect solution! The camera takes amazing photos, day or night. The on-board editing function meant that I could edit all my Paris photos and with a couple of clicks upload them all to Facebook! The same for my videos as well! I refused an upgrade from my phone company because I am so happy with this phone! My friend was able to negotiate a better deal for me instead, saving me hundreds of pounds.a year :-) It even takes SLOW MOTION video! My friend and I filmed a slow-motion, Baywatch scene, running on the beach on our holiday, and this phone made it happen! :-) The battery life is brilliant! :) My ONLY criticism of this phone is that the sound when recording in windy or noisy conditions is VERY poor, and nowhere near the quality on even a cheap Nokia phone. HOWEVER I think this may just be a fault with my handset which I didnt get fixed as the warranty ran out. Well done to Samsung! For the next phone: let's see better sound quality, a Yenon flash and an applications store! Do that and for me, you'll be king!

Hi for those who really want to update their INNOV8 firmware, please get my advice : "Don't fix it, if it doesn't broken" Do not update your firmware if it working properly on your phone. The INNOV8 default firmware should work flawlessly. And regarding the battery life is depend on whether you are running any GPS / WiFi application on the background or not. For normal app running at the background it won't consume so much battery life. So feel free to use it and enjoy your app. Usually INNOV8 with it default firmware will last at least 2 to 3 days for extensive use. If you just put your INNOV8 after full charge and leave it just receive only a few sms and call, then it will last at lease 4 to 5 days or more. (I tried before it will last for at least 6 days just for standby time.) Just to mention INNOV8 has a 2.8" screen size and it will happen the same battery problem like Windows Mobile phone as well. Keep in mind that firmware update can only upgrade and cannot downgrade. Don't care about what other people said and just trust yourselves. Thank you and sorry for my non-sense.

I boguht the Feb 09. Its the best fone Ive ever used. But sadly, problems occured in late Feb 10 :( The keypad buttons are functioning but not the buttons on the slider. The moment I slide up the fone, the buttons stop functioning and I had to restart the phone several times before it starts functioning back again. Most of the time I have to remain the phone in the slide up position, so that the same problem wont occur. I cant answer the phone if the phone is slide down, unable to view any new sms that I received, since the buttons on the slider face are not working until I restart the phone several times. Is this a common problem faced for this phone? Any suggestion whether the software, the slider or what causes this to happen? I love the fone so much that I wana buy a new set, but I cant find it anywhere in Singapore. I am currently looking for a brand new set. Pls highlight to me if anyone knows where to get a brand new INNOV8 in Singapore. Thanks!!

i had this phone when released back in 2008 i think it was best camera smart phone around at the time i loved the phone but it is a little dated now for me now but still a good phone at the time the camera was the best around only downside very poor at night with its led flash it made pics to bright at night and also the screen scratches very easy and i do wish samsung was a little better with firmware updates but i did love the optical mouse which again at the time was just fantastic but like i have said times have moved and for me if your looking for a smart phone with a great camera the satio would be my 1st choice now but who know by next week that could all change again

I think there should be a tiny switch which it control either screen backlight and keypad backlight.

Yes, you can zoom, but only software zoom, not optical. Use the volume buttons zoom in/out.

The touch button is extremely frustrating and switches between apps when you try to press down on it. This device is too slow and confusing. The top cover is prone to scratching. Nice pics. (buy a camera) Give me back my d900 anytime.

Hey All, I've had this phone for 3 months and I have to admit it's one of the best phones compared to my N95 8gb & My N96 that I have had. My only issue is the Camera which does not save the settings when you use it like anti shake. I am in India with firmware I8510XXHH7. if your fone displays 3.5g or 3g+ then you are in hsdpa ,but not neccessarily 7.2mb/s it depends on your operaters speed..

normal 3g=384kb/s 3.5g is hsdpa and is what your carrier supports so even if your fone says 14.2mb/s if your carrier is only up to 3.6mb/s upgrade thats your absolute peak download speed csd is 9600b/s gsm =2g=48-52k/s edge=dont know its 2-3 times speed of gprs gprs=2.5g 3g=384kb/s 3.5g or or 3g+ high speed downlink packet access or hsdpa=1.8 or 3.6 or 7.2 or 14.4mb/s.. Here in uk i know voda is rolling out 7.2 but some networks may still be on 1.8mb/s so even if you have a fone of 7.2mb/s if your network does not support it then your top speed is what your network says it is were YOU are at.. If you live in an area with 3g only when you travel to city you ay get 3g+ it varys.. BIG NOTE ,,do not expect these speeds at all in fact hsdpa or 3g+ sometimes takes longer to render websites due to the way it operates,,i get faster speeds using mini opera with images disabled using gprs..If your just after info txt only not images disable images you get faster downloads and save data..

salam 2 all samsung innova owners about battery life: i advice all to chek the following simple thing: remove battery and sim card, after 5 to 10 minutes reinstall them,and chage the phone, this will increase battery life, u can do this every 2 or 3 months or when u see that the battery life is not normal. try it its cost free, u dont loose any thing best regards

Hi Jason. 3.5G (also known as HSDPA) is faster than 3G. 3G (also known as UMTS) is faster than Edge. Edge is faster than GPRS. Hope this helps.

hey ya there all. innov8 is great. im having it for over 8 months now and im very satisfied. the only disadvantages i personally found is the batery life which is poor even when i dont even talk to the phone. actually i think that the camera button (silver button on the side) which lights the phone is pressed slightly is a huge battery consummer. since this happens often in my purse my phone is over almost before the end of the day. disadvantage #2 is that i havent found any way yet to upgrade it through the internet as i do with my dads nokia n95 phone so im forced to visit the local store.. other than that im satisfied with its performance. currently im facing this problem though. suddenly it started crashing when i was reviewing pictures (i dont use a microsd card) so i thought it was cause i was switching them so quickly but then few days later the screen was frozen and then crashing and even though i had removed the battery once i was replacing it back on it was showing the previous screen.. so i removed the battery again n again repeatidly soooo after few days i coulndt receive calls or sms .. though whoever was calling me - although i could see i had signal - ccoulndt reach me and he caller was receiving a message that the phone was switched off (which wasnt true cause i had signal and i was on general profile). what i understood later on was that the phone was basically working for an unknown reason to me so far like as if it was in the profile where you can work with the phones features but cannot receive sms or calls.. now im having to be fixed in the local department of samsung. dont know what caused this but if anyone is facing the same prob i ll give you feedback as soon as i get it back. but other than that, the phone is very very high performance phone :)) thumbs up!

i dont knw y.. but the keypad. as in the menu n call button.. basically all the buttons at the front doesnt work.. i removed the battry a couple of times to get it to work.. but aftr i slide it open n clse it. it stops working again. gahh. i have no idea hw to fix this. i formatted my phone. thinking it'll work again. but no luck. weirdly the keypads work .. but i cant do anything with the menu n etc not functioning.. please help?

@John I love my INNOV8 also had same problem you have. Flashed the nigerian firmware and now get 7 days in Standby, Best phone EVER made in my opinion............. Here in the Netherlands its still holding its price high. Suggest you flash the firmware................and follow all the tips here in this forum./ I have posted over and over again the solutions.

this is a very great phone, even release last 2008 but the features is still the best even their other phone model 2009 , they cannot match up the innov8. but the only problem is the battery, took only for 1 or almost 2 days. even this is a great phone great features but with this battery life sometimes its useless. hope samsung should make a battery for innov8, pls samsung. i love this phone i almost want to trade this phone because of the battery issues.

There is a battery drain issue with background services not terminating after you exit application, due to that some processes keep functioning unnecessarily draining out the battery. especially with applications like GarminXT; this forum should be helpful,

Aslo had problem with battery. It lasts for 12h with minimal use of phone. Now reinstalled soft and 4-5 days with normal use. Otherwise great phone much better than n95,n96 with cheap plastic fascias.

Took my innov8 to a phone shop to fix, they said they fixed the charging port and put a new battery in it. It started charging again. 2 days later it went back to the timer icon when trying to charge. Bought another new battery and it worked for 2 days. Think the problem is the charging port. May need a new one =(

1.) Because the etiquette mode is turn ON. Turn off it and the music will not stop when it face down. Settings/General/Personalisation/Tones/Etiquette­ mode 2.) Because it is good! Enjoy it! 3.) Install a navigation software (eg. Garmin)

I've had this phone for about a year now, and I've always been disappointed with the GPS quality...It takes ages for the internal GPS to actually get working..on Route 66 as well as some other GPS softwares(i tried using Sygic 9 alternatively)..Sometimes the internal GPS hardware just don't get turned on and I will have to TURN OFF and TURN it back ON in order to get it and still the chance of getting it working would be 1 in 10..Please tell me if its a one off problem...and also any help on the issue would be highly appreciated..cheers!

Hi Brett, I have had the same problem, I got the phone as soon as it was released so have had it a while. I took it to a phone repair shop who told me they it was something to do with the charging port although we both thought the charging port looked fine. They told me they fixed it and gave me a new battery but it did the same thing the following week. The battery they gave me was cheap crap so yesterday I ordered a brand new Samsung battery and will test that. If the problem is solved I'll come back on and let you know. I think the battery is dead and that causes the problem.

i think i8510 is the best phone from samsung, comparing to other brands ( nokia, S.E.,Motorolla,...) it's also the best, the only drawback is with battery ( chaging is needed every 24 hours). May be the battery needs change to new one. I recommend to buy it. Iam sure that the future for samsung.

Although the phone has no built in voice app, you should be able to download a 3rd party app. I would think it's quite easy to find apps as this phone runs Symbian OS.

This worked on my friend's phone when the mic appeared not to be working:- Turn the phone off. Remove the battery and sim card. Wait a few minutes. Reinsert the sim card and battery. Switch the phone on. Now make a phone call to test the mic - it should be working now. If not, I suggest getting it checked/serviced at a phone shop.

Also Lance, you can get an advanced manual from net in PDF form of some 1.54 MB. It has everything! Location I don't remember but you can use Google. Yes, the basic manual supplied was hardly anything and this baffled me too initially!? Secondly, I have no idea why it changes to MMS on more characters. In my INNOV8, it changes it into 2 messages ... However, if I add more than 15-20 contacts at once, it changes it to MMS ... I have no idea why ...

Its there in India's website atleast ... ... @ Lance: Dude, you can use front camera to view your image. Press *#0*# at standby, and then a "Test Menu" will open. Press 9 on it ... Other codes that work are:--> *#1234# *#1111# *#2222# *#0000# *#06# *#3333#

this is a brilliant phone, i've had it for more than 6 months now. i just have a small issue that has come about a few days ago. when i send / receive a call the person on the line cant hear me at all. i wonder if something is stuck next to the microphone or whether the microphone is just broken, anyone have a similar experience?

Concerning your post, here are my answers : post : there's an official firmware released long time ago!you can flash it with updated pc studio. answer : I have my phone now since 8 months. It's never been possible for me to update the phone through this software, neither with the updates of it. First of all it downloads something what it calls “downloading the update files from samsung server” to say thereafter that my “phone is not supported”. Unfortunately I've managed to update the firmware through the unofficial way (again thanks for those forums and the helpfull people there). But none of those unofficial (– on forums shared - ) updates include my language. And yes, it's true that in some countries customers have managed to update their firmware with pc studio. So support is clearly not equal on every market for samsung. Some countries are more equal than others, I see. post : samsung widgets?not for nokia's symbian remember! answer : See those links : ; Watch those things carefully. There is nothing said as “not for nokia's symbian remember !” So why are they still mentioning those widgets in their websites ? post : pc conection?update drivers,find new samy drivers in google or just uninstall and install pc studio again or may your pc is too dirty answer : I have the latest version of it allready, the drivers too (yes, found through googling). But why should people search for decent working software and drivers somewhere else ? Why don't they release it through their own site? Supposing that my Pc is dirty, other software on it should have issues to, right ? A reseller or a worker maybe ? Or just a simple fanboy ? Take it easy, and chill out. There will be always people complaining as long as you let them in the cold. This is a remarcable phone. Excelent image, sound quality and great GPS. The 8Gb mass storage plus the 8GB Microsd lets you keep all your data. The batery life is average, but you must update your software. Samsung has a problem is that when they release a phone they forget it very quickly. Its obvoiusly to make money, they are not worried about their custumers. This is probably one of the last smartphones with keypad and no touch screen by Samsung. The 330Mhz Processor seems to be great, but i think it could be a lot better if they have input a doble processor like in Nokia N82. The Photos of this phone are cool in deed but the flash is terrible. It has got a too strong blue light and low defenition. Xenon would be great for this phone. In fact it would be perfect since the camera has got 8MP. The slide is very accurate and it seems build in a good material. I have this phone for a while and it is as good as new. MP3 sound is excellent but when you try to record a video in the camera the sound of music (if you are trying to film a live concert) sucks! Nokia is better on this chapter. Price dropped a lot and who wants this phone badly, now its a good time to buy. Here in Portugal they cost 200�. In september 2008 they cost 600� so you see how much the price dropped in a year. Nokia N82 was released in 2007 and it costs more than INNOV8, i guess its 230�. However for 200� is a really excelent phone. Great specs like WI-FI, DLNA, HDSPA with 7.2Mbps make this phone a great choice for people who still like slide phones and with keypad and no touch screen.

I am getting 7 days in standby mode from my battery. About 3 days with normal usage. i,e . 2 hours of Nav, 30 minutes of voice calls, and taking about 30 fotos.

The phone has a superior built quality compared to other phone's I've used. The spec's are/were mindblowing (for its time) if it worked all the way it meant to work. But there are some critics that I've to mention : - those widgets of which they are talking about in their site (the fancy commercial built in flash, see their website for further info.) don't even exist on the phone, so they're absolutely misleading (lying ?) possible buyers/consumers of this phone; - the supplied software and drivers used to connect the phone with a computer are one of the buggiest things I've installed on my PC. Is it an alfa? beta? RC?,... - the phone is not a cheap one, so people want decent support. And support does not just mean a warranty for hardware failure. There is something called firm-/software. Why should I pay for something that makes my phone work as it's supposed? Why should I update my firmware trough unofficial ways? There is absolutely nothing wrong in releasing phones with bugs. But it's absolutely inacceptable not to help consumers/buyers (or to ask money) for fixing those (firmware-)bugs by updates. It's wrong not to support your product once you've sold it. And I've also to mention those people who review the phones. Just look at those reviews from some time ago when this phone was released. Where is the objectivity in all those reviews? With time it becomes really difficult to distinguish reviews with marketing. It's a big question how those people are testing those things. How objective are they? They present things as very positive and as the best or one of the best product. You realise in fact for what you've spent your money, once you've bought it. If people pay the full price for products, they they've the right to get a product with the mentioned specs. of it. I've thought to upgrade to a i8910, but it seems that this one has some remarquable issues too. Last but not least, this is my last samsung phone.

I had just the same issues before I flashed the firmware to version I8510XXIB2 (found on a forum, thanks for those people who are sharing it). I had other issues too, as example : - battery didn't stand long (5-10 minutes wifi usage for any internet app. cost me 1 or 2 bars from the battery indicator - so the specs. mentioned on their site about battery performance were NOT TRUE at all); - switching trough the menues was very very slow (especially acessing the media such as photos, music, etc.), sometimes the phone didn't react at all, so I needed regularly to restart it; - the camera performance was not very well; however there are still some bugs in there (the mentioned firmware) that needs to be fixed (like not saving of the camera settings, not being able to use/store/embed GPS coordinates in photos, bad sound quality of the cam and a sync problem too, ...); - and the list goes on... So I would advise you to do the same thing as I did. You'll be able to get much more out of your phone. I hope this will bring a solution for your problem.

Strange thing, there is no way to add a music folder into a playlist ! And the Wi-Fi just find instantly if there is a network available even if "Show WLAN Availability" is off. It's like the WI-FI is always on! How can I be sure it's off, so that it won't eat battery?

Put your phone in mass storage mode...............you can then see the mass storage devices on your computer like other drives. Then just copy and paste or move files from mass storage to memory card. So simple even my 6 year old grandkid can do it.

Pros: Capable GPS, great picture quality and movies with sound, Cons: Could get very laggy at times, no support from Samsung since the last firmware update last year, GPS signal could take a while to lock in even with A-GPS enabled. I have tried everything ...removed memory card, turned off screencapture with jbak,turned off theme effect, exercised the battery,tried various firmwares but nothing seem to work. My phone dies of in a little more than 2 hours of extensive java app. Cannot last a day on standby. Very poor indeed. Any suggestions and solution ?

Had this phone for a year now and it's easily the best phone I have ever had (and I've had a lot including most brands) It's fast and easy to use, slider is still smooth after all this time and it is still very sturdy. That is taking into account the amount of times I have dropped it. Camera is top notch I have taken some really nice shots over the past year it certainly comes in handy. Not really a big user of the net so couldn't really give an opinion on that.

Hi. Those messages are on the sim card. Go "Messaging>Options>SIM messages" and delete them.

@asd It's probably telling you that your phone memory is full of texts. You need to go into message settings and change it so messages are saved to your mass storage rather than your phone memory. Then delete a few of the messages and this should get rid of the envelope on your home screen. All new messages will then be saved to your mass memory where your storage space is 8 or 16GB.

It can read flash videos (.flv files) using the flash player already embedded in the phone without any problem! or you can use 3rd party apps such as Smartmovie or Coreplayer...both will do just fine!

I'm a user of this phone for 1yr, I've no idea how to install maps in this device, the video clarity is good but somehow the sound of the video is distorted, there is a firmware upgrade for this phone but samsung doesnt give that we ve to flash the phone to have it, battery charge is average if you ve moderate calls,they claim it to play DIVx but certain files cannot be played,very bad internet browsing(it'll drain ur battery),too pricey. Overall not worth the money that you re paying.

arash, my innov8 gets 7 days in standby and 3 days with moderate use. There are a few tricks to get better battery life. You can find them here under a search. First thing to try is turn off dual mode network to GSM only.

this phone rocks, it has many features and in every aspect you can beat the rivals (camera, audio,...) the only issue is its battery which can not last more than a day and half at max. also it uses symbian os. if you are not looking for windows mobile (with its own problems) this is the best, although in my opinion it is even better than most of them. my opinion: best in keypad mobiles with no doubt one the best among all the available mobile phones

yes the usb prt does break but only 1 in 100 do......they can be fixed wthin 3 weeks any way.... the texts always send on mine and it is not easy for dust to enter the screen....i use mine all the time .....it has scratches all over and dents..works perfectly....very durable phone :D

I used the innov8 for 12 months and recently upgraded to the Satio. I never once had a problem with texting, and I got zero dust on the screen. However, my USB port did break and I had to send it for repair. I put that down to my own heavy-handedness but it seems it was quite a common issue. Overall I was very happy with the Innov8 and would definitely recommend it to others. Hope this helps

Hey all, had the phone for about 10 months now and find it fantastic in every way...untill now that is. I found out why the battery goes down so fast. If you have the phone in dual mode 3G and 2G it constantly tries to look for the 3G signal. I live in the forest about 5 miles from where 3G signal is very strong. At home I get 2G signal good ..so I changed it to GSM only when at home. It was amazing how much longer my battery laste.

You can use JBak TaskMan to kill off some useless background processes. Be warned that JBak doesn't list separately processes that can crash your phone when killed etc. Alternatively you can also use an app called KillMe for this. Here's a list of several processes that I found can be safely killed with JBak: - AutoLock: pretty obvious, when you kill this you will disable the automatic keylock function - ScreenCapture: seems to be a left behind process from an app that never made it to the retail version of the phone. CMIIW but it really does nothing than eating chunks out of your battery. - Screensaver: pretty much the same as ScreenCapture, seeing that with or without it, the INNOV8 still doesn't support screensavers. - Anything with Shozu in its name. If you re-run the app, they will reappear. - NimbuzzWD.exe : appears only if you have Nimbuzz installed. Also a left behind process. - Anything with YApp in its name : background processes from DrJukka's apps. - SamsungAudioServer : kills off all sound. Just play any sound file to bring them back again. - HomerDaemon : not really sure what this is, but killing it doesn't seem to affect the phone in any way. Probably language related?

The camera of innov8 can replace some of the digital cameras but N96 cant replace and you can hardly watch TV on a 2.8" screen. They also both have the same amount of CPU speed so dont tell me which is faster. N86 is good but it has smaller LCD, slower 3G and smaller yet heavier. and oh I dont like the keypad of N95 as for built quality of it. Please let us not compare phones, each phone has its moment or time. the built quality of n95 8gb is not cheap check gsmarena review,otherwise it wouldn't be so popular.maybe innov8 outperforms n95 8gb with the 8mp but n96 comes to compromise the 8mp with dvb-h reciever and put the n96 and n95 8gb next to innov8 you eill find the nokias much more beautiful and even both nokias offer dual slide with media keys,3d rotating gallery,better processor and alot of other features innov8 lacks.maybe innov8 is better in camera with its 8mp but n86 8mp came to take its throne.

I hacked mine 3 months ago and everything works flawlessly and I have a developers certificate. 7 days standby , 3 days with moderate use. The photos are better than my 6mp standalone cam. i just bought this phone and its a nice phone but its inferior to nokias. As a view finder nokia n95 8gb looks better. Nokia has better display. This phone has no flash player for web videos. Ngage not supported. Rotateme and shake me app don t work. Vga video is of less quality than that of n82 and n95 8gb. Videolight is less than that of nokia. Youtube and skyfire app don t work. Auto rotate app is not so good. No 3d graphics hw accel. Phone memory is just 40 mb !. I bought this phone and will not sell it. But a bit disapointed as i expected this phone to have more capabilities. I will never leave nokia again. I had N82 and 5320 and all apps worked flawlessly. My next nokia is N900 and n95 8gb. By the way i just hacked this phone using hellox. Cheers samsung. long live Nokia.

Well, in this matter the service provider does not get into any merit as to mobile hardware unless it's a cell phone purchased at their outlet, which in this case, it has not been bought from them...and as to regards the shop where i bought it, i might try and see if it can be cleaned, still making use of the warranty, if the warranty plays the role in it. The place i live in...is like a full speed competition in selling mobiles at the best price....so each and every mobile shop sells a good variety of all brand names existing on earth !! :)

I compared Samsung Innov8 to LG crystal and the result LG Crystal is boring and for femme and gays only. Ive had LG renoir before but the phone is boring and Im sure that it only has a tad difference between Renoir and Crystal. No themes -only built in themes, cant install awesome games and useful applications only JAVA applications(really boring). Innov8 has Symbian S60 OS while Crystal none Innov8 has 16GB + cardslot upto 16GB for a total of 32GB while Crystal only has 1.2GB baah!! And for me touchscreen phones are annoying I regret swapping my Nokia N82 to Renoir. The only good bout crystal is that it has 0.2 in wider screen than Innov8 and thats it. Now tell me something good about your crystal, if there is. You may wanna compare your precious LG Crystal to Samsung Omnia 2 HD and you can tell mobile technology.

It has a good battery life if you don't install GARMIN on this phone. Garmin has a big mistake and has confilict with this version of synbian. Without GARMIN its battery life become 3 times more. Great phone. Shahriar

btw when I got the phone back it still has the security lock/pin from the previous owner of the mainboard that was placed on my innov8. I called samsung center and they told me to go back to have the lock removed... thats 3hrs of my time wasted just commuting back and forth to samsung center.

I almost bought a new battery because mine stopped charging. the usb cant also be recognize most of the time. I sent mine to samsung center and they were charging me more than $300 (u.s.) they said they need to replace the mainboard (my innov8 was out-of-warranty because it was bought outside my country). when I decided to pull out my innov8 from the samsung center, then they told me theyll 'try' to fix it. In the end they charged me around $25 for the service fee. they replaced the mainboard with a refurbished one. there were even files/pictures of the previous owner of that mainboard.

The spec sheet here at Gsmarena it says that Innov8 has 128Mb ram. But mine when i reset it, it's just about 50Mb. That is why it didn't encourage me to put too many app or run anything in the background. Which is which 128 or just around 50Mb of RAM? And here at Gsm, it says that the battery is at 1200 mAh but mine is just 1000 mAh. Bummer!

People! Unlike its predecessor, the nickel-cadmium, lithium-ion batteries do not suffer from the "memory effect." That is, the battery does not have to be fully discharged before being recharged. On the other hand, earlier nickel-cadmium batteries would "remember" where they were recharged, leading them to charge only to that point again. Being a woman (with small hands), I find the Innov8 a bit bulky and heavy compared to my previous phone (SE W880), but am getting used to it now. I'm sure you will love the Innov8 too. I am going to post just 2 tips to increase battery life. The rest you have to find yourself. 1. Download and install Jbak Taskman and after installation stop ''screen capture''. 2. Disable Themes effects settings>themes>general>options>themeeffects>off also run a movie or music in repeat mode for the entire night until the battery is completely DEAD. Then charge the battery fully with phone OFF. That is the last time I am going to post this. Stop being lazy and read...if you can't read English then GFY and too bad for you.

Condition or exercise the battery. Run some music or a film in repeat mode with the charger hooked up, Let it run all night...............then unplug charger, let the film run again over and over until the battery is COMPLETELY empty and phone turns off Then plug in the charger (not the USB one) but the AC charger and leave it charge with the phone off, Before doing that (this is important) download and install Jbak Taskman and disable ''screen capture'', this is what did it for me.

Yup, the Innov8's battery doesn't last long. I've swap my N95 8G for Innov8 and I do admit that I'm quite disappointed specifically with batt life. It even gets warm when I'm browsing the net which something I haven't experience with my N95. And installing 3rd party app is not hassle-free. The only thing that is commendable is the build quality, but for me the battery issue ruins everything.

There are plenty of firmware updates. Mine works fantastic since I updated. 7 days standby about 3 with normal use. The camera is also fantastic. BTW, 12 mp or 8mp makes NO difference. HELP! my battery ran out and the phone turned off. I plugged it into a wall charger and instead of it showing the battery charging. It shows an empty battery with an hour glass symbol next to it. The contact memory of the phone is low- 1000 only. It cannot fit into business phones. Samsung should for once improves on the contact memory. Otherwise, the phone is really good.

Under normal usage (which in my case is quite heavy with Cam, Music, Video, etc.), it never returns more than 1.5 days ... Mostly, it returns 1 day only ... However, the bars start to fall down very soon, even before battery has lost its charge enough. So, if you see 6 battery bars instead of 7, it can still last 5-6 hours more ... In a way, its good as it warns you earlier ... Just that, I was used to N91, whose bars fall of quickly once it is at 6 bars... A good thing is that it charges via USB. So, I have no problems with low battery..

On a different note, now my Innov8 keeps switching itself off for no good reason. Over the last 3 hrs? Every time I leave it idle for about.. 20 minutes, it'll switch itself off. Does anybody know what's going on?

Hey Rezwan... At first, I had the same problem too. My Innov8 only lasted over a day.. so I surfed for some answers from user posted opinions here, followed some tips, and one day I tested it out properly and my phone lasted about 14 days, with minimal use. I was amazed!!! So this is what I did: 1. Turn the phone off, leave it charging for 9-10 hours. 2. Turn it on. Leave it on until it runs out of battery and turns off itself. 3. Charge the phone, this time leaving it charging for about 8 hrs. 4. Turn it on, use it normally but always let it fully run out of battery before charging. 5. Repeat step 3-4 a couple of times. I followed that and it's worked wonders for me. ^__^

Rezwan. 2 things you need to do before anything else. 1. Download, Jbak Taskman , install it, and shutdown ''screencapture' which does nothing but eat battery. 2. Next, ''exercise' or ''condition''the battery. Meaning. run movie or some song in repeat mode until the battery is totally depleted. Then leave the phone off and charge it until full.

I think what i mean is its just a mono block like all other fones and i still have nokia 6630 which fits hand and has got some shape to it..The innov8 could have had send/end keys could had green and red buttons,,the m1 and m2 buttons could have stood out more in highlights..This is wat i mean by bit boring not the fones boring..The future does not look goob with all these touch screens where all the front is going to be screen so no design possible,,the only one that stands out is eten x800 with a bit of design.. I am voda with 5 GBP a month 500MB limit plan..My router must not be good its always cutting out yet its says good strength??? It was the cheapest router in the shop mind you .. Innov8 has got everything i just get bored of some fones easily and cause had symbian since nokia 3650 maybe its symbian at route of problems..When had xperia and htc touch they kept me entertained for hours..Solf ntc touch cause of cam/video and screen was only visible looking directly head on..Sold xperia cause in landscape web browsing window was reduced to 1 inch,,keyboard only visible at certain positions,,hard to use when walking and they promised walkman and cybershot all wrapped up in a premium device which was untrue,,there were no equalisers cam was rubbish and it recorded in 3gp format..

Brynn, The camera is fantastic and there is a way to send photos taken via email directly from within the camera function. I use it a lot to email photos to my wife and friends of places I am at the moment or for showing things to her while shopping. I buy and sell things via our local Ebay and it comes in very handy taking photos on the spot and emailing to potential customers. The music player is also great and I have 2 Nav programs installed, Route66 and Sygic McGuider. Both work flawlessly.

Brynn I have owned over 20 phones since 1994 and to me the INNOV8 is the best so far. I have 3 PC's in my home and my wifi router is connected to all of them. My INNOV8 picks up my router very easily, even out in the garden (after I put my WPA key in). I have for 5 euros a mont also unlimited 3G access via Vodaphone in the Netherlands. The Innov8 always asks me which one I want to connect to. i.e . Home, 3G, etc etc. I was at first disappointed with battery life but solved that after hacking and flashing the phone. I love my Innov8 ...it is so solid and even my friends say it looks expensive and not flashy like colorful SE's. Notice that Mercedes Limos are always BLACK.

I am using innov8 and had w995 nearly 3 weeks,it is a nippy fone and fully featured ive been on i-player a bit but now watching my third film on it from play arena thingy.. I am saving now for xperia x2 as it solves the problems i had with x1..The innov8 does everything well but its huge and boring to look at but have no problems with it,,video sync issue is still there by the way to person who asked..As for wifi question the unit in my laptop and innovate search for reuters which i suspected,, but cannot get innov8 to pick up laptop as router but can do it via bluetooth as you can..Dont give up tho cause maybe there is a way round this,,i am not a wi-fi fan in mobiles as the signal pick up is weak even tho its connected i get dropouts and get fed up of disconnecting even when right next to router..Whats odd is w995 keeps connected and so does laptop ,its innov8 n85/n96/n82/n958gb that kept diconnecting.. I really wanted to buy this cellphone but since it was about P6,ooo more expensive than the "great reviews" N82, i went for N82 especially that i haven't owned a slide phone and scared that slide phones would break right away once it falls. and one thing more, Innov8 doesn't really look attractive.It's all black. they should have a good design like the ultratouch or a design that would match with W995. But, W995 is really a powerful cellphone.

IrvineHooi Why worry about 2012? It will all be different by then anyway. Put your cert and key into the root directory on your PHONE (not the PC) and install SmartSign to your phone and sign all apps on the phone instead of the PC. Google SmartSign for the program. Once again, if you sign an app now with your cert it will be good forever. After 2012 you won't be able to use the key, thats all, simple, yes??

Another thing, after reading the post this morning. I have question about the "the APP will still work because its already been signed." replied to YTB. @ irvinehooi: I can guarantee that the AC Adaptor charges the cell faster. It takes a bit less than 2 hours for full charge. On the other hand, The USB somehow takes more time, which is not exactly measured by me, in exact charge time. In any case, AC Adaptor is faster...

Hi, Just want to ask, recently I got my dev cert and key from the internet. I found out that the cert will expire on year 2012 from now which it's valid only for 3 years. I'm curious that if I use this dev cert and key to sign the app, is it means that the app can only last for 3 years as well ?? After year 2012 I cannot use the app anymore ?? Its a shame you got the E71. It seems u dont understand technology yet. Lets face it we all know that bigger screen Innov8 always consumes battery compared to a smaller screen eg E71. We all also know 8mp even on a point & Shoot camera also uses more battery than a 3.2mp camera right. Those r just 2 things that we all know consumes battery not forgetting faster processor. If u want a phone that has almost everything that technology has to offer than battery might b an issue if u turn on everything. If u want a phone that has very good battery consumption than better to get a non colour display screen eg. the older models and belive me those can last for a few days talk time alone with heavy usage. I believe that people always blame the equipment rather than themselves. The equipment is for us to learn to use so dont expect all of them to behave the same way.

Hi, I have one app want to share with INNOV8 owner, the app called "FreeSigner v1.01" This app allows us to directly sign Symbian S60 3rd edition software, applications and games on your mobile device without transferring the files to your computer. It can be self-signed or symbian signed. By default it already contain certificate and key for self-signing the app. For those who want to sign with symbian signed, then you will need a certificate or key either from the OPDA or other source. Hi Anon, Basically, can you tell us which firmware your are using right now ?? And how many day your battery last ?? But for an advice, if you didn't face any problem then it is not recommended for you to update your firmware. Unless you faced some really specific problem then you have no choice have to update your firmware. With the firmware like I'm using one, it last about 6 to 7 days of stand-by time for minimum usage. @Moldo88 The camera on the Innov8 is fantastic, and although the Xenon flash on my old SE did produce slightly brighter night shots, the image quality of the Innov8 makes up for it. The LED flash is still adequate and does produce decent shots, but if I was to build my own dream phone, it would be pretty much an Innov8 with Xenon.

Striker Yes, XXIB2 is the best firmware right now. I tried others but this one seems to work the best. It has English , which although I am Dutch I use english in my internet work. Tips for improving battery life 1. Turn off Themes effects 2. Turn off optical joystick 3. Install Jbak Taskman and when running turn off 'screen capture'' 4. To exercise the battery, run a movie or music in repeat mode until the battery is completely empty, then leave phone off and recharge fully using the AC charger instead of the trickle USB charger.

Hi, thanks for the advice. Actually my firmware version still I8510DJHI1. Currently no plan to upgrade yet. Because I didn't face any problem with this firmware other than audio/video sync issue. About the battery life, my INNOV8 just gave me about 6 days of stand-by time for minimum usage. Up to 3 to 4 days battery life for average usage. Unless I use camera / video recorder a lot then it will consume a lot of battery life. Thank you.

Hi, I've read the post and found out that the latest firmware version I8510ZXIE1 (May 2009) still not yet solved the video/audio sync issue and also it has calendar problem. 1. VerySoft NiceLight (Flashlight App) does not work using the Camera LED anymore. 2. Calendar Entries only show up ON THE DAY of the event, and not a number of days before. Thank you.

Innov8 is better than S8300? I was leaning more to the S8300, though user admitted that the battery life of the phone kills it, and Battery life is one of the important factors I am looking for. Since I will be ridding myself of my iPod 5th Gen, I wanna know if the Innov8s battery life will last me 9hours of music playing time? because the S8300 will obviously NOT DO THAT. Im weighing if I can leave the S8300's touchscreeen and Keypad combo for a bettery battery life. So anyone? 9Hours of music playtime, is it possible with the Innov8?

Are you people aware of the 'etiquette' mode? Pretty cool...............if you are playing the music player or alarm goes off , if you turn the phone upside down it pauses the music. Go to Settings>settings>general>personalization>tones>>options.

I8510 is better than S8300. I8510 is a powerful multimedia phone, has best audio and photo quality, but S8300 hasen't.

So that means I could send over a 1000 fotos or more all over the world via email and it still will only cost me 5 euros a month where as if you tried that with MMS it would cost you over 500 Euros a month. Learn the secrets about using Email with this phone. Your provider doesn't want you to know.

I don't know if you folks are aware of it but the MMS feature will cost you a lot of extra money in your monthly bills if you send photos to your friends. With the 8MP camera on the highest resolution a file can be about 2MB in size which takes much longer to send ,especially if you don't have 3G. That is why providers like to hook young people into these phones. In the Netherlands you can get a unlimited internet package for this phone for 5 euros a month. You can set up this phone for PUSH email and set it up to email fotos right from the camera function after you take them. I have taken photos while driving my car and sending them to Australia and it doesn't cost me ANYTHING. Try that with an MMS and it will cost about 20 euros minimum. Learn the secrets of the INNOV8 and email.........

Abdul I don't use MMS . I use email to send messages because I have an unlimited internet plan for 5 euros a month. Works much better for sending photos directly from the camera.

SH hold the left menu key button down until the taskman screen comes up. then click on ''screen capture'' and hit the soft key and scroll down to 'stop application' and then click okay.

Irvine Hooi I installed Sygic last night and it works just as good as Route 66 and its FREE. Look at the link here in the forum how to do it. One hint..........do NOT install it on your mem card. INstall it on the MASS MEMORY 8GB in the phone. Lots of maps available ..........here are the links. Just read and follow the instructions.

SH Well, it sure helped my battery life...........went from one day on STANDBY to 7 days on Standby. Also everyone should install Jbak Taskman and stop the 'screen capture'. Another thing that seemed to help a lot was running a film or music continuously until the battery is totally dead and then recharge with the phone OFF.

Hey guys (and gals) Just installed Sygic McGuider navigation program and it works great. If you install it, DO NOT install on memory card but on the 8GB internal memory. Now I have Route 66 on MEM CARD and McGuider on phone mem. Great phone works fantastic. Here is the link to find the stuff you need to install it.

You must start over and reflash the IBB2 firmware. Only takes about 10 minutes...............don't forget to back up your current apps in PC Suite. IBB2 is the best one I have found so far.

Hi Guys, I have been eyeing this mobile for quite sometime now. Im thinking that this might be a good replacement for my ageing Nokia N95. But at the store, I saw another Samsung mobile, the S8300 and that had me thinking on which mobile I want to get. They are about the same size (S8300 is slimmer though) and offer the same specs but the S8300 have a touchscreen interface and it will be nice to have a keypad + touch screen. but after reading opinions and reviews for both phones, I think the Innov8 is the better choice but the touch and keypad of the S8300 is soooooo tempting. So just a few quick questions: Will i be better off with the Innov8 than the S8300? Is the Pixon even a choice given the lack of features on it spec sheet? As far as the opinions here, Innov8 seems to have a good battery life, but will it last me a 9HR shift while listening to music? (my iPod 5thG barely does that) Thank you so much in advance for any reponse!

Hi, I've checked the "www.smartphoneware.com" website. They only has software called "Best Torch" but not "FlashLight" like you mention. "Best Torch" is just display a single color in full screen, but it does not use the camera flash as a torch light. Yes, the shift key is the # key on the keypad. But I normally change this type of key to camera key for easy access. Thank you.

The shift key in Innov8 keypad is the # key. Try it. I use it to copy and paste text just like "pencil" button at nokia's phone.

just get corecodec player, it plays everything i mean EVERYTHING you want, including high res divx. i had an high quality divx that the included player and divx player and other players couldnt open it without lags and... but corecodec opens it without any lags at all!!!
