Samsung U100 - User Reviews

  • I am interested to orders this phones how do I get the shopping mall in Toronto

  • Finally what I needed! A thin phone that is not inspired by a banana!

  • Hi Check the link below.

  • Good day!!! Do you have this phone for sale or do you know where can i get the phone ?

  • Is there any place where i can still buy this phone?

  • can anyone tell me where can i buy this one? because there's none of this product in Indonesia..?? (that's i think for this far searching it and found none..)..

  • Aya-lewy press 8 time zero, this is security code on Samsung.

  • Aya-lewy press 8 time zero, this is security code on Samsung.

  • this phone has dust issues on the lcd. the phone screen cover is only clipped on. no rubber surrounding to protect lcd from dust entering on it. causing scratches directly on the lcd surface. i need new lcd as it now broken after 4 months use.

  • I have a sgh u100 and i want reset the phone but i dont no what is the security code. Pls. Help me. Thx.

  • Very difficult to find. I bought it from ebay for about 100$. The seller only had 2 units.

  • I also like the phone but were can I buy it?

  • This is the coolest thing ever. Just like the other guy, I've been using it for several years and the only reason I'm replacing it because I broke my charger and a 3rd party charger messed up the electronics. It's a really tough phone... too sad so many people out there never had the joy of using it.

  • used to have this phone, wish I would have never sold it.it is ONE OF A KIND.it was a tough phone that never gave me problems.THE ONLY gripe i had about it was it's damn ugly shape.reminded me of a retarded ironing board or something.otherwise, greatest 2007 phone ever.

  • I have had this phone for 4yrs now using it as my primary phone for over 12months, i throw it around and keep it in my pocket & its still going strong, it doesnt show up in my pocket and look like a silly bulge like other phones and is easy to use, the only drawback is the lack of a flash on the camera and the vibrate option only working on silent mode. Very happy, will probably buy another when this wears out as theyre so cheap!

  • Samsung U100 is the best phone i have ever purchased. It's compact, light and most of all user friendly. I myself am i simple person, all i do is make calls and send txt msgs. Battery life is great with only having to charge it once every 5 days. Great phone for those that are looking at something simple to use.

  • hows the battery life n reception on the phone? thanks

  • I've had this phone for just over a year now. The screen broke on me earlier in the year, with white lines horizontally across the screen. It was under warranty so it was replaced without problems, however the screen has just broken on me again 7 months later. The phone is awesome, large screen, good camera, sound and call quality good, light weight, very thin. However, the screen tends to break very easily.

  • Does anyone know where to get the Middle East firmware for the SGH-U100? It's this firmware version that has the answering machine built in I believe.

  • i have had now this phone since 1 year. i can describe it with one word: perfect!

  • I had it. but recently lost in a market. It's picture resssolution is not good.Right now I have Nokia-(N-95) this phone has all the latest features..U-100 battery backup is not good....

  • i bought this phone with 35$ but the battery sucked and I bught another one wich gives me another 3h of life.

  • i bought this phone as the last one in a shop for AU$65 and was quite happy with it until lcd screen cracked on the inside, case is not damaged, but screen doesnt work anymore

  • You got an awesome deal, but admit it, you hate this phone and you want to sell it to me. There are none left as its discontinued and I don't own one.

  • I really want to get this phone but it is still a bit expensive for its specs...

  • oops. I meant 57 grams.

  • I only need a phone that works as a phone so the games, camera e.t.c. were of little interest to me and I was tired of heavy or bulky phones dragging my shirt out of shape when put in my top pocket so I looked for a fairly light phone and was surprised to find one that was only 66 grams and the world's thinnest at 5.9mmfor only $160 AU on eBay (new). I'd have to say this phone is remarkably strong FOR ITS SIZE and after I added a $3 clear plastic case, raising its weight by 6 grams and its thickness to 8mmit is now even stronger. I wouldn't want to sit on it though, but that's the beauty of this phone it's so light and small that you will keep it in your shirt pocket and forget it's there. The build quality seems great, It sounds clear and picks up a signal where my Motorola V635 didn't. The only drawback I can see is it isn't easy to find wallpapers for as 220 x 176 is an odd size (so far) Easy enough to make them though, games however are not easy to find. I'll be damned if I can find any instructions for installing games via cable, it appears to be via WAP only. I may be wrong.

  • According to this site the internal memory is 70 meg.

  • i bought this fone cheap 65$ and was last in store i can say that im very happy with this nice phone camera is great and other staf lucks 3g, and card sot and fm radio i can live without thaton side i got nokia n95 and samsung f480 i use this as a spare phone and mostly this one i carrying arround is not heavy at all i love a lot samsung makes great phones

  • 3.15 MP without a card slot? Ok, I understand that it's a slim phone, but without card slot, what's the point? I don't get it... At least, the camera is any good? I currently own a Innov8 and a D900i, but I need a third phone... I was heading for the D880 (and get rid of the D900i), but now I don't know... I get in love with this one... Please, can anyone give me a advice? I work in a mobile phone shop, but I've never seen this one... Thank you. (I work and live in Portugal)

  • i have now used this phone daily for a year. battery life is truly great. No worries there! Camera is very good as well. You'll be overly happy with the quality. just the interface is a tad slow an worst of all, my screen broke because of some keys in my pocket. its flimsy so take care. The phone is tall and quite wide (50mm) so dont expect a small phone, just a very -slim- one. i like it, though. Enjoy.

  • ovaj telefon glavnoto e vo mene i telefonot e super 57grama mnogu tenok i e mnogu retki camerata e kako na oparat 3.2 megapixel memori e dosta mozi dase klat 50 sliki 35 muzik i 18 snimki batery 3-4 dena i dr.

  • How is the battery life? What is the TV-out resolution? How about the UI, is it fast enough? I may buy this as a secondary phone...

  • Yeah... I've had the phone about a week too... everything is good except it doesn't have card slot... maybe due to being too slim... but then they should of had a micro sd slot next to the sim card like some other phones. & it might look a bit nicer if the width is 45mm instead of 50... makes it look a bit wide

  • hi there. i bought u100 and i've been using it for about one week. i have no problem with this phone. it's awesome! mice phone

  • good phone - nice camera - excellent speaker volume - easy to use - very poor internal antenna - sharp looks - 90% happy

  • yes it's possible !

  • one problem with this phone, dust accumalates on the screen within short period after you start using it.

  • hello everyone! I need to find a way to on/off the bluetooth with one key press ? Is it possible ?

  • Can you have a custon soundclip or mp3 for calls in and also textes in??

  • No! It's not Possible

  • can i use a memory card for this model

  • why did it ever miss an FM receiver?

  • anyone know a good site with apps for it ?

  • as a second phone, it`s ok. misses a looot of important features to me. it is just a wow phone, for its design - cool

  • No dude it does not have any memory card slot...

  • is there any memory card slot available in this phone to extend its memory.... or minisd card? i really love its design and features, pls. send the answer to my ym. kevin _ducao18 tnx a lot.....

  • Still the Porshe of cell phones. The thinnest and most beautiful phone in the world! Samsung please release this phone as a CDMA phone! Two problems. The screen scratches easily. Solution? "Shieldzone". - It works great. Second problem; lots of dropped calls on the GSM network here in New York City. It sucks. Ahh, to suffer for beauty...

  • In an earlier post about deactivating GPRS, someone wanted to know what "PDP" is. Here is your answer: It's a method for network initiated Packet Data Protocol (PDP) context activation comprising the steps of: registering by a mobile station with a push application using an IP address; activating a PDP context of the mobile station by a gateway; and saving by a network device the IP address and an access point name (APN). DON"T MESS WITH THIS WHEN DEACTIVATING GPRS, unless you know what you are doing.

  • this phone hangs up a lot when you make a call and cut the line, needs re-booting all the time by removing the battery. also blutooth doesnt work well with laptops as it fails to transfer the files. its only beautifully done slim and light weight phone and that's it and nothing more than that.

  • Dont buy if you want to have a music library,if youre a teen and want to play videogame on the phone or if you have large fingers... Buy if you want forget that youre carring a phone and if you have a laptop with bluetooth and you can pass data to a larger hd... And yes, you MUST charge the phone every 3 - 3 days... But im happy.... I can say I love this phone

  • If I put it in my pant pocket and sit on it, will it break? Does it give off a feeling of durability or do you feel you'll break it if you sit on it wrong? I really love the size and weight of the phone on paper but I'm a little afraid...

  • G'day folks. I left a review a few days ago about this phone(U-100). Well, I can now tell you that the phone is dead. I was transferring an MP3 file via Bluetooth to the phone and it seized up and wouldn't respond. I removed and replaced the battery to reboot the phone but it gets to the startup screen and seizes up completely again. Maybe I overheated the Bluetooth chip(if there is such a thing). Who knows. Anyway, maybe I shouldn't have recommended this phone. It looks good but perhaps they forgot to allow for adequate cooling of the chips.

  • awesome phone!! ive been using it for a few weeks now!! only prob no mem card slot but thats ok!!

  • its good cellphone but the only wrong in this phone that it havenot memory card :( i wanna buy this phone but i see tha samsung u600 and i dunt know what is da best

  • I bought this phone today, so my opinion is a short lived one. The first thing I want to say is that it's not fragile. It feels strong and doesn't flex. The screen is smaller than I imagined, however it's not annoyingly small. The colours it produces are great. Watching a movie on it would be a chore though. I put a couple a YouTube videos on it today and it was fine for that. The mp3 interface is fantastic. The earphones that Samsung provide are reasonable but not great. I read a lot of bitching about the memory limitations of this phone. For me, the 70mb onboard is fine. I don't need a memory card with 1000 songs on it. Who does? I can put a new album on the phone each day and still have room to take 20 or so photos. I'm not a teenager so this suits me fine. The 3.2 meg camera is ok. I own a Nokia N70 with a 2 meg camera and it takes pictures of equal quality so don't get to excited about the camera. The video quality is average YouTube video quality. Hardly worth watching. The keypad on the U100 takes some getting used to. I'm not fluent on it yet so I can't really judge it. The call clarity is great. The reception is great. The "loudspeaker" isn't very loud. To be honest, I bought this phone because of it's novelty factor and it hasn't disappointed. It's great fun. I will keep my Nokia smart phone for daytime use and take this one out at night. It's perfect for when you don't want to carry a phone around, but have to. In summary, I would say grab one if you can but don't expect it to replace your smart phone. I got mine new on eBay for AU$150. Bargain!

  • i really want this fone!!!!!! its totally wiked awesum :P any opinions???

  • I have a question really regarding the u100, ive owned the x820 for 18 months now and will be upgrading shortly. i have had a problem with the x820 whereby it is virtually snapped, does anyone have the same problem with this phone as it is 1mm thinner than the x820?

  • i want ask qution any one have this phone to answer me 1- are thr battery life is good or like battery samsung u600 is bad 2- Does the camera from behind easy Scratching and the same thing to screener and thanks alot

  • The same problem here with connecting with Garmin Nuvi (310).

  • a fine phone for those of us with blackberries etc. who want a small, light elegant phone. I found a 900mAh battery on the web that fits (a bit tight, but OK) and gives a 40% increase over standard 650 mAh that ships with the phone.

  • hi can anyone tell me if it has a strap connector on any corner? i know its ugly but i wanna wear it around my neck. thanks

  • I have been using U100 for the last six months and I did not have any problem with it except one: I can't pair it with my Garmin Nuvi 660. When I try to pair these two devices U100 start restarting or become disconnected in 30 seconds. Trableshoot section in Garmin does have a few Samsung phones, but not U100. Is it possible to upgrade a firmware in the phone? Hope a new firmware could solve this problem.

  • I've got the x820 for 2years and i finally decide to buy the U100, the camera is perfect and the phone is smart. This phone is very slim, and seems to be as good as the X820, which was a very nice and slim phone....... Buy it,you won't regret...

  • Hi guys, I just bought this beauty Its AWESOME

  • It would have been a better phone if Samsung had included 3G in its specs. I like the slim design of this phone. I would definitely recommend it!!

  • Stunning phone! I have had this unlocked phone now for 3 weeks and it gets a lot of comments. It fits nicely in my front pockets. I love the white text and icons on the black screens. I am a design snob and to me, this phone and the iphone are the two greatest phones out there. The music player sucks and the screen scratches easily. I already got a gash in the screen and it upsets me. Since its an unlocked phone and I am using it in the U.S. there is no insurance for it so be careful with it. I am also having a problem downloading wallpaper and ring tones since it is not supported by AT&T and Samsung does not carry this phone in the U.S. Is it worth the hassle? Yes!

  • I've owned an iPhone for about a month until I decided to purchase the Sammy U100 as a companion phone. To date, I use the latter more. I love the U100 for its obvious razor slim design and its no-frills practicality. I wouldn't post a comment for the first time ever if I thought otherwise. The interface may be slightly out-dated, but more importantly, it's extremely user-friendly. The 3.2 Megapixel cam is just gravy. In addition, it's much more durable than people may be inclined to think because of its light-weight and super slim figure. I've already dropped it a few times and the phone has endured many more of my toughness tests (or clumsiness). Great phone for those of you that want a sleek lightweight phone that does its job as a mobile phone without all the other unnecessary BS. Love it. Would purchase another in a heartbeat, but then again, that would just be plain greedy.

  • lots of people are skeptical about buying this phone due its fragile looks. let me tell you all that it's strong enough to take heavy impacts. i love its slimness and lightness in my pocket. slimness is beautiful.

  • i bay 2day b4 good desingn bad menu

  • just wondering how many songs can this phone hold..thanks

  • I have this phone and cant do two things: set the message alert for both vibrate and sound (it seems you have to choose only one); and how to set the alarm for the events on the calendar (I can create a task, but cant set the time and date for an alarm reminder). Appreciate if anyone could help.

  • probably this model is currently the thinnest in the world with great features. i have not come across any other manufacturers dared to make thinner than this model so far. if another model coming the market thinner than this one in the near future, i am sure samsung themselves will break their own record again. well done SAMSUNG keep it up. hope the day will come that the mobiles will be paper thin so that one can fold it and put in the wallet.

  • this is a good phone. dont worry about the battery life because this fone is packed with a lot of features. when a phone has good features it may not have enoungh memory, when a phone has a gud camera it dosent have a good music player. just like that it is got very good features but low batterylife

  • this phone is not for everybody. so people with negative minds and who are not interested in technical marvel, shun your comments on this model. this model is for the people would like to travel light and who does not like to carry a brick in their pockets everyday then go for it. i have found it as an amazing phone to hold to put in the pockets and finally to talk for long periods without strain on your hands. but one thing is sure, you'll tap your pockets more often than before to make sure it's sitting there.

  • What are the keys like on this? Do they feel the same as the U300 to push?

  • I have that phone and I'm so satisfied. Its a Phone. no a camera or video or what ever put into phones.

  • it is the slimmest phone i ever seen

  • It has sleek and well designed fone, i have a problem pairing with its bluetooth handset. I use Samsung-WEP200 and shows an error message "Service list not found". I hope that samsung would give a solution to this problem. I've tried searching on net, but no help was found.

  • i think this phone is the bad phone and worth phone all ovwer the world

  • how many SMS u100 can storage and talk time.

  • contact your network so they can send you your message settings

  • hi guys! i was just wondering if any of you knew how to enable the picture/multimedia sending/receiving on this phone! i havent been able to receive or send any picture messaging so i was wondering if you guys have had the same problem?

  • hi guys! i was just wondering if any of you knew how to enable the picture/multimedia sending/receiving on this phone! i havent been able to receive or send any picture messaging so i was wondering if you guys have had the same problem?

  • jonathan.... having u100 or other makes it's just the same if you are not making use of it's features. where most of the people just use any high end models just to make call and send messages. u100 is very sleek and pocketable

  • well im still having 2nd tought of buying this unit... can you pls tell me... what is the advantage of having a Samsung U100 than having other mobile unit just like N95 or Motorola moto SLVR l72....

  • hey watch out!!! keep this mobile out of reach if you have pet dog. this can be easily mistaken for a dog's biscuit. this is the most wonderful mobile i have owned in years to come.

  • battery life is excellent and not like x820. heavy using needs charging every 2nd day which i do and light using on every 3rd day.

  • does this turn off gprs below work for anyone else?? i get *#4777*---# and it is says its an invalid character.. --------------- Press *#4777*8665# to deactivating GPRS if you dont use it...whit this you can insrease your baterry life for 20%.

  • Hi, can someone please tell me what the battery life is like? I love the design of the phone but am worried that if I buy it the battery won't last long... My X820 didn't last long at all.

  • The following dimensions shown on the official Samsung's website is wrong. (Dimensions:105.5 x 50 x 5.9 mm/Weight:57g) I own this mobile and measurements taken with the help of Vanier Calliper engineering instrument reads: 115.5 x 50.5 x 5.9 mm I hope after seeing this comment by Samsung's officials, they may correct on their website information against this model.

  • Could anybody verify the height of this phone, is it really is 115 mm. 105,5 is in every specification you can find on the internet and 10mm is really is a lot on mobilephone...

  • The micro SD is not supported so how can we save the music data for playing?

  • how stupid. why the phone should display number along with the name. if you have already stored the name of the person in the phone book isn't it enough to know who is calling??????????

  • its very nice phone, but i am so confused without many profiles as nokia !! a lot of samsung mobile phones display the name and the phone number for the caller, but in U100 i found it display the name only! is there any way to display the name and number when any one call me ??

  • wish this model had ringing profile settings.

  • Anorexic now became style.

  • Can you sync the calender with MS Outlook (like you can with Sony Erricson phones)??

  • if you dont like carry a brick buy this wafer biscuit thin mobile. note one thing its not fragile like a wafer biscuit but strong like a hard board despite being thin. its not only light in your pocket, its also features packed phone. sound from the speaker is class and can be heard clearly in any noisy envinornment. what impresses me the most in this model is that i can set to reject any particular incoming number.

  • after turning GPRS off i charge the battery on every 3rd day. i use it for business purpose and receive pleanty of call everyday.all in all i like this phone very much because of it's rich features.

  • anyone know how to turn off the phone number search when you're typing in a number? it is the most annoying thing because if you're typing in someones number, it skips keys when it comes across a similar number so you have to hit he same number twice!! i've miss entered at least a few numbers already

  • What is the battery life like??? I had the X820 (6.9) and it was terrible, not even lasting a night out, even though I also took a fully charged 1000mAh battery out with it and it drained that too!!

  • Not bad, but no expandable memory

  • I dont now what this setings are...sorry.

  • pero what are PDP Activation and Multi Class 1,2,4 & 8 that I find these things when I put the code you have mentioned to switch off GPRS. What settings are these?? Appreciate if you can let me know.

  • pero....thank you.

  • Press *#4777*8665# to deactivating GPRS if you dont use it...whit this you can insrease your baterry life for 20%.

  • pero are there anymore codes to know more about the phone like on nokia you can find the following: IMIE NO:*#06# FIRMWARE VERSION:*#0000# LIFE TIME AND YEAR MANUFACTURED:*#92702689# OR *#92772689 appreciate if you can give me any codes you know for samsung. thanx.

  • pero thanks for letting me know the code. Firmware: U100JPGG4

  • Press *#1234# to see your firmware version....

  • hey, this damm thing needs to be constantly checked whether it's still sitting in the pocket. it's presence is not felt and scares all the time that it is lost. all in all it's the best slim phone i ever had both in quality and performance. Samsung....you have over the period have improved a lot.(except ringing profile which is absent in all your models except i600) i personally feel that as far as the quality and cosmetic looks concerned, you have an edge over the other manufacturers.

  • pero how to check the firmware?? in nokia there is code to check but in samsung i don't know how? anyway just go to message menu and scroll down to find answering machine. hope it's there on your model.

  • Best ever phone owned, my 25's phone. Besides slim and light, loud ringtone, extremely clear on calls. Camera is good, for me don't really need memory slot as 70 mb is quite sufficient. If full just transfer to pc in 2 min. Awesome. Machine stable, no freeze at all. Battery life is stunning, though battery is so light but still can stay up to 3-4 days. Can't complain. Reading message in vivid mode is so fun & lovely. So easy to pick up everything. 1st samsung out of all mob... didn't expect so good. Cool... more n more confidence now. This is better than Nokia. Design, userfriedly etc etc. Not bragging but seriously good phone. Will support samsung from now besides all time fav Motorola n SE. Nokia.. start to disappoint me.

  • Prem what is your firmware? My is U100XXGE5 and i dont have ansering mashine.

  • i am proud to own the slimmest phone in the world which blows other models. the features that i like on u100 are below: 1. Built in answering machine (which saves money on accessing your voice mail) 2. Reject list (this helps when you don't want receive call/message from someone particular, you can add his no. in the reject list and he/she cannot access you) 3. Whisper mode (this helps when you are in a noisy environment, the person on the other side can hear you voice loud and clear, which i have tried and really works well) 4. Camera is 3.2 mega pixel and video records in Mp4 format. 5. Very wide screen and one will enjoy reading messages. 6. Multiple alarms.

  • Samsung is the best in making slim phones.. I hope they soon make something like, less than 10mm thick, 5 megapixel camera, big screen, with a memory card slot. This will be the best phone in the world....Go Samsung!!!

  • great phone!!!could any one tell me how to get the wall paper changed to a better theme ??also how to get this connected to TV to view pics?/

  • the technic of making such a slim model is very simple. first samsung produces the phone of regular size and then they place it on the railway track and allow the train to run over it, bingo....the phone will be flattened to produce U100. well done samung. LOL

  • hey...this dam thing is so slim, i can't make it's presence in my trouser pocket. at time i put my hand in the pocket to make sure it's sitting there. well, despite the slimness samsung has not compromised anything on its features and performance but at times i feel the hand set is producing some heat in my ears and giving me a slight uncomfort feeling in my head & neck. probably i will get used to it in due course. all in all this model is a rocker.

  • useless without memory card slot

  • samung u100 is a fantastic phone. i dont know why always pakis are negative about any good products. this really succs.

  • the default passwrd for ny samsung is 8 times zero ( 0 )

  • need help, anybody knows what is the password for opening the security and privacy settings on the u100? it asks for a password when I try to set protection for the phone but I don't know what the current is

  • i love this phone, i love all Samsung phones, always shap nice, full and amazing options, and great software. please if u read my opinion, take it as an advice and use Samsung Phones

  • Just got this phone yesterday, so excited. Samsung has absolute nice screen, impress with the sound quality. TV out is great, can even take pic while tv out. Friendly user, easy to pickup as my 1st Samsung phone. Though a bit wide compare to my w880i but they just work so well together as I put 2 phones into a mock. Not too sure abt the batt yet and bluetooth function. Camera quality is nice but bit shaky, not as good as D900i (auto focus). MP3 is Gr8. Will tell more once explore. I used to think Samsung phone is not as good or stable as the Big 3 manu (Nok, SE and Moto) but now I think every manufacturer has their own strengths and weaknesses. You WONT KNOW until you TRY. Good Job Samsung...

  • incredible phone!!!

  • This phone doesnt exist. I know. Ive seen it.

  • 3 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, video(CIF) - Java MIDP 2.0 - MP3/ACC/eAAC+/WMA player - MPEG4/H.263 video player - T9 - Document viewer - Bluetooth printing - TV out - Organizer - Built-in handsfree all these r true ? ? this phone is very slim cant believe it

  • It's really amazing! 10 millimeters have simply disappeared! I mean the height of this phone is 115 mm. The truth is - you have to take the phone in your hands to be 100% sure about it's characteristics.

  • This phone is an improved version of the X820. The reception has been improved (the X820 is bad for signal reception)and the sound is excellent. Its a very good phone if you need a light and stylish device with good reception and sound and a user-friendly menu. The camera is also very good, this phone is a miracle of technology.

  • It looks kinda generic... looks like a Motorola... and what about talk time????Up to 2 h 30 min??? That's not good!!!

  • Jep, same thing happened to me also, thought that its height is 105 mm like it was said everywhere. Ive had this phone almost a month and i`m quite usued to it and satisfied. Camera is good and for me theres also enough memory .

  • I am so mad with GSMARENA.com the specification given here for this U100 is so incorrect for the size of the phone... it says the height of 105.5 mm is WRONG ! the correct one is 115.5 ! and i was so misled with this information that only after I purchase this phone, and compared with my x820 and x370 and realised it that the height is higher than those 2 !!! so so misleading... i think in future i will only take 60% faith in the information i read here...

  • Ok, then the official link is wrong, i have the phone in my hand now, no fm radio, sure. ah.. and yes, you can use MP3 as SMS tone in the U100

  • Here is official link, you will see there that it has stereo radio

  • Hi, anyone knows how the keypad is ? is it too sensitive ? heard that it is different from the X820 where there is still bit of keys, but this u100 is like touchpad ? Also, how is the SMS tone volumne like ? now can use MP3 as SMS tone ? I tried the U600, even using a MP3 as SMS tone, it is still real soft.

  • No stereo radio. Sure. No card slot I bought the phone last week

  • IT HAS STEREO RADIO! its written in official Samsung site

  • Does anyone know if this phone supports A2DP?

  • no sd slot, just 70mb onboard, ample to be honest. dead sexy phone just try not to stand on it like i did. lcd screen is not exactly robust!

  • No Fm Radio

  • Hi! Can sum1 pls clarify if U100 really does have FM Radio. I've checked the specs and with some suppliers saying dat it does not have FM Radio. To sum1 who has U100...

  • No card slot, i bought one u100 yesterday. Incredible slim phone but it's very big, more than x820

  • Is there memory card slot or NO ????????

  • there seems to be 2 different versions of this phone, looking at photographs of the phone on different web sites in some pictures the middle silver directional key pad is bigger on one phone and smaller on a different photograph of the phone. is one of them a proto type? thanks

  • @Fishy: im sorry but there is no FM radio, at least not in the current firmware that I use. I suspect that might get upgraded though, as e.g. the vidcam menu only allows me to select up to 176x144. 320x240 and 352x288 are greyed out for some reason (?). Battery life is pretty good, I am not complaining (used to Nokia 6230). Lasts 2-3 days with normal use.

  • Does anyone know if the bluetooth works with Mac OS X for file exchange (pictures, mp3s), or for using as a modem?

  • @Arne see link about FM Radio:

  • @Arne. It says on the official site that the U100 does have an F.M Radio.

  • this battery sucks! worse than the 8800... I guess that's what you get when you only have 5.9mm!

  • @pero: I have bought the U100 in the Netherlands and it comes with the following languages: - dutch - swedish (so, YES) - danish - portugese - suomi - norwegian - greek(?) (ellenika) - turkish - magyar (??) - polish - cestina (??) - slovenish - german - english - italian - french - spanish ... so quite a few ;) =====REVIEW OF THE SAPPHIRE BLUE U100 first impressions: extremely thin, but actually it is still quite a big phone really (lxw). POSITIVE: - display is beautiful. brilliant colours!!! - sound quality is very good (music through earphones in particular but talk qual. also is VERY good.) - the camera makes very nice pictures. 3.2 megs and it shows. BEAUTIFUL colours, rich. Dont expect hairsharp images ('just' 3.2mp) but it is good. I was searching for a camera review and there doesnt seem to be one around so i might post one somewhere if anyone is interested. - wasnt able to test video cam fully. Seems to stop after 15 sec for some reason (?) and for some reason i couldnt select any higher resolution. Will investigate, let me know if you want to know more. - battery life is surprisingly good!! lasted several days, incl using the camera, mp3 player, phonecalls, file exchange, bluetooth on, hadnt even charged it fully. Nothing to worry there - it is GOOD. NEGATIVE: -NO VOICE DIALLING. Really miss that (have it in my wallet and use a bluetooth set). - KEYPAD is not very good. If you type numbers too fast it does NOT pick them all up e.g. 6999 becomes 699; and I am sure I type firmly. Same with the multifunctional button in the middle. It seems an issue with the way the keystrokes are processed (software rather than hardware). For the rest the keypad is pretty responsive so it feels good to use. - Cant seem to be able to fully configure the center button (e.g. down arrow: set it to browse contacts). - Menu is a bit clumsy in general although they do a far better job than e.g. sony ericsson (k750i). Used to Nokia, miss the simplicity e.g. with writing messages. - alarm doesnt seem to go off when the phone is not working (not sure about this one). the fact that it has no exchangeable SD card or something like that is not a 'negative' point, it is obvious something has to give when you make such a thin phone. CONCLUSION: all in all a great, light and super thin phone with lots of functionality (for its calibre -- dont expect 2gb cards, huge screens, etc!). It has two main disadvantages in my view: - no voice dialling (i could have just held it in my wallet all the time that way; as i initially planned) - it seems to be bigger than strictly necessary as the bottom part is just 0,5 cm of plastic (to my best judgement) would like to see in next version: - radio - memory slot - voice dialling - get rid of bottom 0,5 cm cheers...

  • Battery life-3 days normaly use, signal is strong and no problem at all.

  • Please, one review about battery life and power signal

  • English,Italiano,Francais,Espanol,Nederlands,Svenska,Dansk,Portugues,Suomi,Norsk,Greek,Turkce,Magyar,Polski,Četina,Slovenčina. Firmware is:U100XXGE5

  • I like to know if anyone purchased this phone in EU-vers. and can tell what language it comes with... like to know if it contain the Swedish language... like some other Samsung EU-mod. has..

  • If you dont use it very much then it is about 3 days but when you do that, it is about 2 days.

  • Does anyone has any experience with this samsungs battery life??

  • 'I'm looking for a phone that can hold a fair size of songs!' Surely a phone should be to make n recieve calls, not to play songs, if you want music may i recomend you get an MP3/4 player :-) thats what i would do

  • hey guys of arena.. on the official samsung web site is mentioned a 690 mAh battery in the specs.. an not a 960 mAh battery as mentioned in your specs.. if this U100 battery sucks as much as the X820 battery.. this design is just a waste of time.. I expect not only flashy features but a very good lifetime battery.. (see at sonyericsson or the new nokia's)

  • WOW.......now dis is da slimmest fone in WORLD RECORD pple.....funny when u question da memory card slot coz it probably cant fit knowing dat it doesnt fit to x820 so wat makes u guys think its gonna fit in this one lol....probably samsung is tryin to make it a slimmest as the memory card itself hahaha mad pple.....

  • This phone would be amazingly popular if it was able to accept SD cards or at least have a fairly large internal memory (512 Mb). Unfortunately, I'm looking for a phone that can hold a fair size of songs and this one doesn't cut it.

  • and here a very short review of U100

  • and why still no in depth review?

  • well, guys who still wondering it's batt life here is a link to it's official site ... ... it's 4.5hr talktime, and that's good enough for me. i think im going to buy this SGH-U100 after considering both U100 and U300. hehe.

  • why stated in above spec it has 220x176? i saw the resolution is 320x240 from it's fivenine pdf brochure (provided by someone here before). and it's also 320x240 from my local newspaper (malaysia). UE II all 320x240 IINM.

  • the screen us QVGA not 176 by 220

  • Features are good but not good design.its too long and wide.Only feature, it is thin. Buy this mobile on ur own risk....! hmm

  • Very good find Mr Fishy. So it looks like this does have FM radio which is great. I notice on the spec sheet it says: Battery (Standard) Li-ion, 690mAh Talktime: up to 2.5 hours Stnadby: up to 185 hours Which looks like it'll need charging daily :(

  • @The people who want to know about the U100 having a Sterio FM Radio see link form samsungs own site prf brocher...

  • hi, can someone please help me to know if the battery on this models same size of x820??????

  • Is the speaker better and or louder than the E770. tnx anyway

  • Reading some comments on the lack of external memory and that the 3mp camera is wasted with only 70mb of memory... that is enough to hold over 50 pics @ 3mp which is hardly unreasonable. Yes, we always want more but I think it will suffice for most people! Also the battery I see is Li-Ion 950 mAh compared to Li-Po 630 mAh on the X820. I hope this means a much improved battery life (I was reading Li-Po is better for less fire risk, Li-Ion keeps capacity better) as it has 50% more mAh. If it can come close to the D900 for battery life, I will buy instantly.

  • The only thing holding me back from ordering this is the lack of battery life specs - very conspicuous by it's absence given that the phone is out in 3 days in the UK. Also I have not seen one website quote the specs with a radio so.... not a deal breaker for me, just an observation. As an overall piece of kit though, it's very appealing.

  • @Mr Fishy: Why do you know that this mobile will have FM Radio?

  • Just to point out that this phone HAS got an F.M Radio. Also you CAN select an mp3 to have as your txt message tone. Two major problems between nokia and samsung phones resolved. Well done samsung. I will be getting this phone when it comes out.

  • i think this phone is just a prototype

  • This phone is due for release on 18th May in UK so we'd all love to hear opinions on the phone's functions when you get it. And also on battery life (how does it compare to X820 which was original Ultra Edition?) This is Ultra Edition II which is supposed to have better power efficiency.

  • Some things to point out. To the person who said Samsung are making thinner phones and taking away features; they're not! These are brand new designs made with brand new materials, so they're NOT taking away features such as memory card slots, they're just not adding the features. You don't have to buy one of these thin phones. Samsung have plenty of others which are still thin AND have memory card slots. I don't mind if my phones have memory card slots or not as I back up my photos and videos to my PC when the internal memory is getting low.

  • nice info Kal, that may seem cool but ther are so many phones out there already that has that kind of form factor esp the first 3mp Xcute DV1 but as a have seen the size was really an innovation and it will sure fit to any pocket. now i'll go to my main purpose, ther are two vital features missing: memory card slot and Radio(this feature is almost negligible as most samsungs don't have it, when Samsung will include MicroSD slot for it's ULTRA 6 and 5 series? is microSD still too large to fit it in? maybe SD shopuld introduce new format supermicroSD? which is half the length and width with 3/4ths of thinnes of it...

  • Just to give you another example..here is a link for Samsung's version of camcorder DMB phone SCH-B750, very similar to N93..but look at the thickness, its 16mm. The point is, you can have features and still keep the thickness low. Thats whats Samsung stands for IMO.

  • I'm sorry but delicate things needs carefull handling. if you are so absent minded then ofcourse this model is not for you. Keeping this in jeans pocket is not a good idea at all. Please know that you are talking about one particular model, thats the thinnest so far and yes it doesnt have the memory card slot. There are plenty of other models from samsung to choose from with few extra mm to have some more features...then again those are thinner that other manufacturers..go for it. But to tell you from what I have seen in the past..chances are, when this model will be out with any particular carrier, they will include that memory card slot. It happend before. Cheers!!

  • In reply to a previous comment. My friend sat on his X820. He isn't the 'lightest' of men, the inevitable weak point of the lcd broke lol. I think your right I don't see the point in a phone this thin if you take away expandable memory. For pete's sake samsung only make phones this thin when they can't break and when you're able to keep all the features when the phone is made thinner. I mean apart from the stupid idea that they can say this is the thinnest phone what is the point in having it so thin if take away all the features. I'd rather have the phone a couple of mm thicker if I could play music with it. Samsung need to get their priorities right.

  • Nice to hear from you that you are bit of understand between samsung and nokia.. but one thing that i dont agree with you that... they (nokia and samsung) are not using same technology... as if the phone getting smaller .. the company have to re-develope better Nano-or better thechnology to fit into smaller phones.. such as ... so far.. samsung has world slimmest 3MP camera chip and technology. which is same camera effect with what Nokia using but Nokia's 3MP camera chip and technology is lot more bigger. so it can not fit into slimmer phone...also that is not only different because they are using different case... Nokia they do not have echnology to fit to smaller phones.. so they are keep making huge heavy phones. Like N'Series.... But you know that Samsung have every most best technology in the world , such as best LCD , Best Micro Chip and Electronic. also Samsung has Car Company in Korea. they even have insulance, supermarket and theme park as well in Korea. Like N95 which is big and heavy but it has everything... also samsung can easily make better than N95/... they have own GPS technology and LCD technology and Camera Technology etc... which is totally diffrent with Nokia who get all the parts from Other companies....

  • Well said @ Ultra Edition II Nokia produces the same technology in different cases, that's all! All their phones are the same, just different designs! These Samsung Ultra Edition II phones are breaking records. They're getting thinner and thinner, but with better technology. I have the X820 (6.9mm) and would love to upgrade to the U100 (5.9mm) not only because it's 1mm thinner but because the camera is 3MP as opposed to the X820's 2MP one. With Nokia though, people usually upgrade so they've got a different looking phone which does the same as their last one. They release too many phones too often so are using the same technology; it can't progress in such a short space of time. I've had the D500 (crap camera and even worse video), D600 (excellent camera and CIF video), D900 (fantastic!) and now I've got the X820 which isn't as feature rich as the D900 but it's just so thin!! I love Samsung and think they do a grand job in producing gorgeous, feature-rich phones and hope they keep up the good work!!

  • to: Those who want compare with Nokia's Phones Function with Samsung Ultra-Edition ... Samsung making phone which they can make slim as possible.. so that there is huge limit of putting technology insid 5.9mm phone... No Expansion Memory? --of course samsung want put Expension Memory slot as well but they can not put slot for 5.9mm slim phone.. as it is too slim to put.. and Samsung can make any better phone like Nokia if they are making huge stupid phones.. like N-Series.. they are too big to carry.. even you can not put into your pocket... if phone is bigger there is more chance to put more technology... and Nokia used it and thats Old stuff...which every Mobile company can make it like huge heavy phone.. with lots of functions... but Samsung goes with their concept which is Ultra Slim Edition..

  • the samsung u100 is already in stores (in holland), so you might wanna put the status on ''available''

  • No Expandable memory , So why bother with a 3 Meg camera ? ? ? ? ?

  • WOW this is the slimmest phone ever!!!! it is veeeery light HOW GOOD It makes my job(stealing mob phones) easier after I will have 100, I am going to give them to poor people what a good phone samsung!!! keep going so and I am going to be richer than Bill Gates

  • Does camera have AF function? Its not stated

  • let me see wot is rong with this phone to long to wide no exspandeble memery and it has the camra bump i hate the camra bump

  • my x820 developed a stress fracture in the casing- i will be looking for a bulkier phone in future thats for sure

  • wow. brilliant. it's really interesting. go dear samsung, go. the future is yours.

  • This size thing is ridiculous. Samsung, get a grip. Wait till you hear about a Samsung Ultra phone snapping in two. Won't be surprising if you consider a klutz holding a phone such as this or someone sitting on his phone.

  • This phone looks fantastic. It'll be exactly the same software as the X820 but in a slimmer package and with a 3MP camera instead of 2MP. Video is great in 320 x 240 (It can also do 352 x 288 although the frame rate is slightly lower). A memory card ISN'T required at all! If you want to take your music with you then take an MP3 player. What I do is take a few photos and videos, send them to my PC via Bluetooth then delete them from the phone's memory. Simple.

  • hey ken19...check tis out...http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_z370-1675.php Z370 is the slimmest 3G phone not W880.

  • Damn 5.9mm.... I got a Nokia N73 and the feature i use most is the camera. Having a 3mp camera in such a slim phone drives me crazy. Dats for sure, i`ll sell my n73 and get that u100 as soon as it hits the shelves :)

  • Well ken19 Samsung Z370 at 8.4mm with card slot and second cam is thinner than W880 (9.5mm). Check.

  • good specs but looks very fragile with it's 5.9mm slim and 3mp camera. it's not a 3g phone so still W880 is the slimmest 3G phone with card slot and 2nd camera still imho.

  • Christ! That's thin...where will they draw the line?

  • Oh! my god, only 5.9 ...... My last one is X820 6.9, I thought it's the thinest now Samsung makes another surprise. Good Samsung.

  • this is a cool phone...not many chavs will get it either so it will stand out

  • ya ya Sheikh thats why D900 got the award for best mobile device for 2007..thats why its been sold over 3 million in just 6 months. What you mean my software?!!...every phone has one, including this. If you are talking about installing additional applications and themes, then go for smart phones..this isnt smart phone. Nokia, SE both are expart in cell phone..but they are way too late to even make a thin phone...lets see how they do!!Cheers Samsung.

  • Holy cow! I thought 6.9mm was thin! Now that's amazing!

  • u100 copy of vertu nokia expensive fone,But same story No software nor themes and thick label of time ad date which totally destroys the wallpaper u choose.Sam is an electronic giant making Lcds Tvs and monitors, but not an exclusive cell expert like SE Nokia. The beauty n design ad material used foe D900 is rubbish stability of slide is below standard, second hand market is 75% off, with prices fall every hour flat in one month////

  • Like the 1st person, there isnt a memory slot. Just wondering how many 3mp photos can you hold with 60mb? (say you use 10mb for other sutff) Also the battery life

  • wondering how long is this phone battery life..

  • I have a superb X820 and it's a delight...thin and light. Good camera, excellent display. Now I want this beauty U100. For those complainig about the lack of a memory card in U100: NOT EVERYBOODY IS A MUSIC FAN. CAN YOU FINALLY UNDERSTAND IT?. EVALUATING A PHONE JUST FOR HAVING/NOT HAVING A MEMORY CARD DOES NOT APPLY IN THIS CASE. It would be suitabe in a real music phone such as any gadget from SE Walkman Series or something like that. U100 is another kind of phone. Got it?. 70 Mb por pictures and other content is more than an average user wants and deserves. Also, it looks a littlre more stylized than my X820. I expect it to come soon to my market.

  • i am always crazy about Samsung phones. But, can't they give FM radio in it. Then it will be an amazing Phone.

  • if a 3mp camera can fit in 5.9mm...... so much for moto bragging about a VGA cam in a 14mm heavyweight..... olollol

  • i'm a samsung user from T500 to D820. samsung's always on top of my list when it comes to mobile phones. you rock! you make it so difficult for me to decide now which one i'll buy next, F700 or but wait, i'm looking for the slimmest phone with F700 specs but 16M and amoled! why not have all these specs in one, why not samsung?!

  • no card...then it is a crap altough it has a 3mp camera

  • oh my god only 5.9 mm

  • Wow model ! Samsung really makes unique phones. No one in the world, not even Nokia can beat Samsung. Excellent !!!

  • no card slot but 3mega pixel camara wtf

  • hey... don't waste ur money on such models.... really...

  • This is a nice phone, but I expected it to have a microSD card slot, i.e. it has all the same features as the previous one X820. I expected Samsung to have a better upgrade of X820.
