Funilly I recall having seen it in FNAC half a year ago if not before. All this models last too short unfortunatelly since companies work under the the "renew or perish!- strategy"

I've had a secondhand of this model of phone for about 10 months. It works fairly well in its own country (it was a Telstra phone now on Rogers), and aside from issues with international sim compatibility it's a great phone. Solid, can take the drops and bumps of poor co-ordination, but as a texting device I would definitely move more towards the sliding keyboard phones. Solid device, can definitely handle being passed along to several different owners. I love the fact it's a flip, but the novelty wears off after awhile (it's my first phone, however)

The phone looks good but is a piece of crap. Turns itself on and off whenever it feels like it, normally when you need it or are talking on it. So frustrating. If it was a car it would be recalled or removed off the market! And Telstra rips you off $150 off your credit card just to look at the thing when it is supposed to be UNDER WARRANTY. Credit card blackmail!

I finally retired this phone after 2 years. And replaced it with an SE X8. This is a hundred times better (So far!) The problem that 'broke the camels back' was some calls went straight to the answerphone, without the phone ringing. The phone was next to me and showing a good signal. Still not sure if the problem was the phone or the network(3). I hope it does not happen with the new phone. Also the GPS is much much better on the X8 than the z750i

I just bought one of these, and the 4GB Sony Memory stick micro I used with my Sony Ericsson w380 works fine in this phone.

The Inactive Sim message happens when the Sim slides out of it's little home above the battery. In other phones, the sim lives beneath the battery under a 'clasp' (for lack of better word at this moment), and so you don't get this message. Don't know why they decided to move the sim.

Had this phone for two years. It worked great. Mine started to fail (turns off at random times) and I'm waiting for a new phone to replace it but I won't do it if it didn't fail. The only bad thing about the phone is the lack of wifi.

I have had the phone for under 1yr and at first was very happy with it. I like the flip-phone style, the large key pad and the way it feels in my hand - it is not flimsy or cheap. It is easy to use and I have had good clarity in calls (and I have a hearing problem). However, recently I have begun to experience what others have described below. The phone has become unstable and I get constant "Inactive SIM" messages. I have had problems sending sms and the phone regularly (like a few times a day) restarts itself or freezes, very often when I am using it to text or on the web. I have checked the firmware which is all up to date and the forum support on the sony ericsson site is lacking in advice or response. I am now very disappointed. I really have liked the phone but as it has become unreliable it means I will have to purchase something new AND am unable to sell this one

I got one several months ago after reading lots and lots of reviews and technical data. It came with 'crippleware' which I removed and updated the phone with original Sony firmware. It works perfectly all day every day. I sail, run, weld, grind, dig and do everything but sleep with it in my pocket. Even the GPS works to the same accuracy and my yacht Garmin GPS. What else can you say.

No! Don't do that, what a stupid waste of money! Get something better, or rather... get something else that WORKS without restarting itself saying "Inactive SIM" several times a day. Read my comments below, even changing the memory card for a Sony M2 did not fix it for long. Please keep far from this!

To anyone who is having problems with their phone freezing and charging. Please turn of your phone -remove battery and REMOVE memory chip. While leaving memory chip OUT put back battery and start up your phone.It was my experience that the chip provided with the phone is defective.They replaced my phone with a new one only to have the same problems as previously discribed here.It was by accident at the store when i removed the chip and the new phone worked like a charm. So did the old without the chip but i got to keep the new phone anyway.This happens because the dealer removes the chip that SE provides in the box and replaces it with a cheap one.Buy a new chip like i did from sony.

I got this phone over a year ago, and it was GREAT at first.. but the battery life just dwindles down and down and just doesn't improve. It freezes and restarts when It feels like it, and on bad days it will restart.. and restart.. and restart. Worst part? when ever it restarts it takes half the battery life away. Now, I can charge it for two hours, and text a little bit, make a call, and no matter how much charge it has it dies!

Yes, it has GPS, but it is really, really poor. It never worked on me, neither in indoors nor outdoors. This phone has serious firmware flaws, it's unreliable and restarts itself with no reason, also when idle. I switched to Nokia 5230, worlds apart! That is a Symbian s60v5 smartphone, even cheaper than this rubbish.

Had this phone for over a year. upgraded to the latest software. overall the phone is fast. No annoying delays like some other phones. Like LG. the sound quality on the speaker and earphone are both very good. Although the earphone speaker started to fail a few months ago and sometimes cut out in the middle of a call. But since the phone fell on a hard surface with the back comming off and battery flying out. The earphone fixed itself and now works fine. GPS is still the weakest of all my GPS enabled phones. Nice graphics of satellites going round in a circles. It tries and tries and tries and then gives up trying to get a GPS lock. My other phone next to it can get me located to a few meters within a few seconds.

One of the biggest lemons that S/E has ever released. Almost all of these phones have firmware and processor failures. Having the phone turn itself off and then reboot during a call, a text or even when inactive, plus rejecting your Simcard with the message 'inactive SIM' is something that YOU WILL get with this phone. No matter how many times you send the phone back for warranty repair, it will come back the same. Shame on Sony Ericsson for releasing such a lemon. They should refund or replace every one of these annoying menaces! AVOID THIS PHONE AT ALL COSTS!!!

why not even one clamshell model never has autofocus- that is a big mistake - AUTOFOCUS MUST BE IN ALL SONYERICSSON MODELS - then SE will be no.1-- a friendly advice for SE managment - in a body of W710 put camera 3.2mpx-autofocus-xenon flash- led light -wlan - and you get the best phone in the world - and why volume key is no longer shortcut for letters when typing sms

U need to visit the nearest Sony Ericsson Sevice center - since phone is water damaged most probably would be considered Out of Waranty so you may be charged ... in case any such thing happens in the future ... suggest to use a hair drier to dry out the phone & try to check all features like cam, sound, display, And also try to charge it to check if charger/battery works

Well, folks... Sadly I have to revise my words about this handset. I changed my number and sim card, since then this phone became a *real pain*! It started to freeze and reboot itself randomly saying "Inactive SIM", even when closed and idle. Needless to specify that the sim card was perfectly working in other devices. Many of you were right: this phone is pure junk! I bought it a month ago and now I replaced it with a Nokia 5230 (Symbian S60 5th edition). No more Sony Ericsson, it's over.

Try updating your firmware to the latest *generic* (genuine unbranded Sony Ericsson) version and using it without the M2 stick. I changed the SanDisk 128 MB with a *Sony* 2 GB card. I have this phone, it's excellent and runs like a champ!

@Everyone complaining about hangs, crashes and reboots: I also had these problems the very first time I set this phone up, it started shutting itself down and repeatedly rebooting till it apparently died. I was able to recovery its functionality thanks to wotanserver.com. Then I traced the root cause of the problem: it was **the memory card** shipped with the phone, a SanDisk 128 MB. I took it out of the handset and everything begun working perfectly. Now I bought another card (Sony M2 2 GB), and except for some minor glitch with transferring files on it across the USB cable, it seems to be fine overall. I think this model is a bit memory card-intolerant, you all should try using an original Sony M2 stick. Cheers!

I would NOT recommend this phone. It starts vibrating and then shuts off. Also, it is constantly dropping calls. I had it replaced after two months under warranty. AT&T said it was a software issue. Replacement phone did the same thing. My friend got the same phone and she is having the same problem.

Correction: Z750i has GPS but it is *not* A-GPS...it takes around 5 minutes for a GPS lock and can get down to around 10m accuracy on Google Maps.

The one thing I see missing from all the revues that I have read is the quality of the sound.The primary function of a phone is to make and receive calls and in this regard the fidelity and clarity of the sound is great!

I've had this phone for exactly one year now and it still works great. I've dropped it in the toilet and it still works perfectly fine like normal. But there isn't a TrackID on this thing, or maybe its just I can't find it after looking for 1 year and too bad no flash :(

If you want GPS. Get a better phone. I have 3 GPS enabled phones. This one is the worse. It takes a long time to get a fix. Then it works fine!. When the Z750 takes 5 minutes to get a GPS fix, my O2 XDA zest can do it in 3 minutes and do it more often. My t-mobile pulse can do it from 2 seconds( ideal conditions) to 45 seconds(In terrible weather) And has always pinpointed me!

It should show several satellites moving about. Eventually the "searching" should change to "connected". The other blank screen will have a horizontal line across it. If the built in Google maps works, press back and go into google maps. On my phone the google maps crashes out with an error. Otherwise Minimise the GPS application by pressing button on the left which says "Minim". This leaves GPS running in the background. Now start running any sat-nav program you have on the phone and it hope it finds the GPS data. You should be able to download sat-nav programs from the net. And running the program should automatically connect you to the net. Good luck!

To the use the GPS. Please read the manual. Or, from the main menu choose location services (represented by a satellite), click on status info. And it tries to find your GPS position, here we can move between two screens, one is "current activity" the other is connection status, it shows searching or connected. When connected, minimise this application and load your mapping software. Then HOPE that the navigation software will find the GPS!

Yes! This phone has GPS sensor built in. But, out of my three GPS phones that i,ve owned the Sony Z750 GPS is the worst! A GPS lock depends on where you are, indoors, outdoors, under trees, whether you moving or standing still. And most importatantly the atmospheric weather conditions! Under good! conditions the Z750 can get a GPS lock in about 5 minutes. Under not so good conditions, forget it! My O2 zest, made by ASUS can get a GPS lock in halve the time, twice as often. My T-mobile Pulse, made by Huawei, can Get a GPS lock from 2 seconds to 20 seconds in awful weather indoors. Compared to other phones the Sony GPS is so crap to be almost useless!

i agree 100% i havent even had the phone a full year and i had to send it back 4 months after purchasing it for a new one and 2 months after that the one they sent me had the same problems. the phone shuts off at will, freezes up nonstop and then the text messaging just completely stops working. avoid this phone at all costs it is nothing but a headache and i wish i never bought it!

I absolutely hate this phone!!! It didnt work well for a full year. The phone consistently turns itself off. The only way to turn it back on is by taking the battery out and putting it back in. Sometimes by holding the on button. The volune goes out from time to time. It freezes up on you.Its just a total mess!Sony, boo to you. This was not a quality phone at all.

I have this phone and i have flashed it back to sony ericsson firmware, even before i did it had and still has aGPS, this can be found in the location services part of the main menu. If your z750i doesn't have this all i can assume is your operator software has it disabled. i cannot speak for the z750a but as far as i understand it is exactly the same just for a different country. Hope this answers your question about aGPS, which only differs from normal GPS in that it is assisted by information provided by mobile transmisson sites.

worst phone ever. worked well for a bout half a year. now it sporadically turns itself off at least 5 times a day and it takes multiple tries of holding down the power button and opening the battery case before it will turn back on again...only to have it turn itself off yet again as soon as it powers back on. completely unacceptable. sony ericsson you fail

I have had this phone for a little over a year. The phone is attractive and works fairly well. The only problem I have experienced is within the past 2-3 months, it will freeze up and/or shut itslef off randomly. The only way to get it to turn back on is to remove the battery. If you don;t mind that inconvenience, its not a bad phone. For me, ready to get a new phone!

I agree with anonymous - I got the phone over a year ago, almost immediately had problems with it shutting off and not turning on till I took the battery out, so I replaced the battery, then dropped it in my drink and had to get a new phone - and am having the same exact problem! I think they pack the poorest oldest battery in the ones they sell so that you have to buy a new battery!

I had this phone for almost a year and I had to exchange it twice since I have a year warrently on this phone. The first time, the speaker stop working after 3 months. The second time,da phone froze and everything stop working, I had to take the battery out and turn it on again. It happens almost every week. Hi. Im from Chile, south america. I'ue having this cel from a year now, and i must say, I'ts has becommed my great partner. It's also true that has very serius software issues, but in time, u get to know why, and you just avoid it. Mostly is because of RAM, so don't open too many things at the same time. Also, is not very fast prosessor, but it does the job. In fact, i'm posting from it right now. A little more specify: (max 10) Signal-sound: 8 Battery (no www): 9 Battery www: 4 Gps and g.maps: 8. Slow to find you, but once it does, great service! Media: 7. Gets slow at media navigation with 2gb card and bluetooth hearphones at the same time. Specs: 9. For a 2k7 cel, it makes a lot of things. Camera n video rec: 6. Remenber 2 year old model, but still, poor in color and lens (wide lens) Overall: 7 The best: specs and desing. The worst: software bugs and slow prosessor. Would i buy it again if i could go back a year ago when i picked it?: YES Would i buy it now?: NO. why? There are better options at nokia for the same price. Ok, sorry to take so much space, but i hope this could help any one to make a fair opinion after a year or use. Last tip. Combine it with bluetooth hearphones, e-buddy and mini opera, u'll have a little pc xD

My brother has this phone. Before I updated the firmware, it was very buggy - slow response times, sound cutting out, etc. I would recommend updating the phone software if you are having problems. It has more software features than my Nokia 6288, but I don't like the interface.

This phone is a piece of crap. It would freeze up and I couldnt do anything with it. I would have to pull the battery out just to get it to unfreeze. It would turn off by itself. Now it wont turn on, when I charge it this red light now comes on it and it has never done it before. I would not recommend this phone to anyone because its crappy.

I still cannot get the GPS to work with Google maps. The GPS takes a long time to get a lock. When it does the supplied google maps will not load. I get an error message: Error: darken_image Exception: class java.lang.RuntimeException Init Stage:5 I have the latest software downloaded from sony. I have downloaded another version of google maps. Version 2.3.2 This does load, but does not recognise that a GPS receiver is installed. And shows my position to the nearest km or so. I have got the GPS to work with the mapping service of Yahoo go! version 3 But that is inferior to Google maps and having two applications running in memory at the same time is a pain and often the phone hangs. Can anyone help me get my Google maps to work with the GPS ?

If you do a master reset and purchased your phone on the 3 network in the UK you will lose your google maps installed by three. And worse still it will try to launch, and fail. Little thought seems to be given from networks to ensure their bespoke software is configured correctly, why not? It seems that profit comes first if you get a decent phone at the right price it's just luck! This phone is great, just some of the software sucks!

All issues related to powering down, stability, etc. are related to the Network Provider's "Added Features". After fully unlocking the phone (see your provider, you may have to pay out your contract before a release is allowed), an update to Sony's Generic Firmware with the onboard SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) fixes the issues. GPS - This Phone has GPS, despite what your Network Provider may claim. I got mine as a Telstra NextG prepaid pack, marketted as "Rural friendly", and it specifically stated a lack of GPS ability. AFTER the upgrade to remove the Woeful Telstra branding (with it's associated power-down issues), the GPS subscriber data can be cleared in the Service menu (google "sony service codes" for keypad sequence), and thereafter Java programs supporting the Wireless Location services extensions will be available for use (TrekBuddy, for instance, is one free option for logging, another is Mobile GMaps). The only downside is the lack of internal Almanac code to provide quick-startup. You may need a few minutes before GPS lock is established, so that the almanac code can be downloaded over-the-air via GPS. The Almanac remains in memory until the phone is switched off, so subsequent GPS use gains a lock quickly. I bought this phone primarily for SIX reasons: 1. GPS, without the usual pricetag (no artificial market segmentation rackets to deal with). This is SE's first phone with GPS, which was announced but promptly forgotten by network providers. Some may offer "AGPS" packages with google maps and on-air download charges. It is not required - simply an attempt to monetise a perceived lack of GPS functionality - just let it lock - it gets much faster at it over time.) 2. Java Development thanks to included J2ME with full MIDP 2.0 - This is SE's first phone with Java services API 8.1, so there are plenty of exposed interfaces for wireless services, location services, multimedia services, mobile payment, etc. The v8.1 API is quite diverse, much more powerful than previous API's, and reduces the need for Native application development - v8.2 and v8.3 is available in their newer models, but the difference between v7.x and v8.0/v8.1 is vast. Check out the sony developer website: 3. Root access. Tools have been available for quite a while, allowing full root access to the flash filesystem of the phone, allowing complete menu customization, including Adobe Flash menus, personalizing your network and security permissions, etc. Almost all configuration is done with XML text files, so it's easy to debug and fix to a developer's needs. 4. UMTS. High speed HSDPA with GSM fallback. Quad-band, 850/900/1800/1900, AMR audio at Full and Half Rate, as well as Extended Full Rate. I can get a signal in deep RF shadows and rural areas - worked well during a holiday to New Zealand - only one remote mountainous area required a high-gain antenna. 5. Midlet development - Thanks to root access, you can access the raw data segments exported by the midlets running on your UICC card, providing a unique debugging tool for developing midlet applications that reside within your UICC - perfect for corporate USIM applications, PKCS solutions, etc. Bluetooth is a tad whacky, but then again, it always has been. Standard quirks apply. The Bluetooth chipset is an STLC2592, for your reference. Updated driver code is in onboard flash. 6. JTAG debug port, Complete bootloader, and firmware included. Incase native applications need to be developed, the firmware is provided within the filesystem, allowing the proper system hooks to be placed in memory, without requiring a completely new O/S. Although more documentation would be a nice touch, it's good to know that the bootloader is separate incase binary patches are required, and the ever-present JTAG port allows in-system debugging and programming of the ARM4 series SoC, which is even useful to determine the root causes behind J2ME bugs. Sony Ericsson provide JTAG debug resources for J2ME on their developer website. CONS: Don't expect a scan-interline CCD camera. This is strictly CMOS, and interlaced worse than the cheapest 80's camcorders. Hold still if pictures are required, or you may become seasick. Interesting effect, though. One benefit: You can develop for this camera, and be assured that the Z750's brothers have similiar products. Alternatively, you can replace the Omnivision 2640 front-end sensor with a similiar model, and modify the Ascii driver (yes, it's a scripted SPI camera!). The backend is quite configurable, and provide extremely high sample rates when the sensor is windowed or scanlines are tossed away. Cons are basically the Camera, a non-standard set of reflash button holds (hold 2+5 for a #1, and the Red Hangup for a #2, found with much patience), and some pauses during concurrent tasks (a trimmed-down non-animated menu theme helps). PRO: This really is a Developer's Platform - a Reference specification for their J-8 OS series of phones - without some of the more extensive abilities of the slightly newer phones, but you can be certain in terms of code coverage for the siblings of the Z750 platform. GPS, UMTS, JAVA, UICC, BT & a VERY nice OS architecture. Stable as a Rock, yet easy-as-pie to customize and develop on. Much more convincing in terms of security than WinCE phones = mystery and pain. Linux support is excellent with the newest kernel(s) - try 2.6.27 or higher. Ubuntu works well, especially when combined with the mobile broadband libraries, etc. which allow for plug-and-play detection of the usb ethernet lan interface, as well as the serial data ttyACM0 and ppp-specific ttyACM1 interfaces. A ppp connection directly provides authentication to the network provider APN that you have set - this is perfect for low-latency Corporate networking - PPP authenticates the provider with the USIM midlet on the phone, and sets up the phone's NIC to tunnel IPV6 using IPSEC extensions. Absolutely beautiful when it comes to network connectivity. An actual device that conforms to the USB CDC-ACM and CDC-ETH, with out-of-band authentication with the host via PPP, with dual-serial interfaces for concurrent data + management. IP, v.32 Data/Fax all at once. Also Voice (m.s. telephony is in the standards, mind you, but still useable with some work). A cheap, modern and standards compliant S.E. device that is open to speedy developer access...

I have had so many issues with this phone, I hate it. It shuts itself off all the time. I have replaced the battery twice but it continues to shut off. The battery life is horrible too. I've never had such a bad experience with a phone.

I bought one of these phones for my daughter and I. Three months after we purchased them they would turn themselves off. Even in the middle of a call or ??? I called the warrenty department and they sent me new (?) phones. Three to four months later they again shut themselves off. I again called the warrenty department and they sent me new batteries. I hate this phone it was a wasted $194.00. my calls go into voice mail before I get a chance to answer them. It never lets me know when I get a voice message. Don't buy this phone. I like the Razor much better and it had more options. After talking to AT&T a number of times they agreed to mail me a another phone but not a new one. Let's see if it is any better.

Definitely HAS gps. I have debranded it yesterday to SE RIFA030, which erased web/data access settings(yes, you can get them back from ATT or SE) but phone/msg working of course. With the access still not working (to test), I loaded some gps sw (SE Tracker? etc.) The Menu shows Location Services (a satelite icon), locates and shows satelites (8) and tracks your jogging via gps, shows position on maps etc. Whoever says that it has no features should learn to read the manual or use google. Except for wifi + camera focus/flash it has just about anything you may need, incl. java and FM radio receiver...

I've had this phone for about two weeks, and I love it. And to those who care, this phone HAS GPS. If you get the z750a, its just that the at&t firmware blocks it. I flashed mine to the SE firmware for about 16 bucks davinciteam.us and now it works better than ever. It just took me a while to get it fully back on MEdiaNet; you can find instructions here: also, make sure you set the internet APN to wap.cingular to make it work.

I purchased one of these through AT&T as a birthday gift for my mother, adding a line to my existing Family-Talk Plan. I've always had a spot for SEs. Currently I use an N95-3. Upon first inspection, the same charm that has attracted me to SEs in the past once again capture me. The last SE I've owned was the W580i, which was fine. The Z750 has the updated media player and 3G. The cosmetics of the interface are great and true to what I have been used to in the past. The phone impressed me so much that I was even thinking of getting one for myself. But of course it was missing a few key features like WIFI, GPS and a better camera. I do like how the screen "appears" to be bigger due to the black border surrounding it. Fact is that its only a 2.2" display, but it looks like a 2.4". All-in-all its a great phone if you need something basic. Text, MMS, some video and calling is great on the device. A bit too big for some possibly, but it serves my mom good since it has nice big buttons and good screen. This phone might influence the purchase of a SE G705 for myself. Bottom line: Great phone for everyday use, if you don't need WIFI and GPS.

I hate mine too. What's your problem with it? Mine spontaneously turns off, and it sometimes "freezes" like a computer would. WTF? And the battery lasts about a half a minute. I used to have a Razr, and I could charge that about every other week. This I'm charging almost ever day. It's crap. Don't get it.

I have the Purple one, and that the problem with this is that sometimes it can go slow and sometimes it goes fast! E.g - You are in music, then you want to switch to a different song or catergory and you press back, then it takes long, so you press it again then you end up having problems, I've only had this phone for 3months! I love this phone. I have it as the z750i in purple. It's so beautiful, metallic, shiny. Is pretty much like Japanese style mobile phones. It has big buttons, & an easy to use menu. I didn't even have to read the manual!! This is definitely my favourite phone. It's going to be hard when it's time for me to upgrade to replace it. I will always compare my new phones to this one!

I've had this phone for less than 30 days and I gotta say man, I don't like it half as much as what I thought I would. The spacious layout of the keyboard is very use friendly and pretty, however the battery life is awful. It scratches VERY EASILY, makes too much plastic noise when I hold it AND I'm just not use to the interface sony ericsson uses, I've had a Motorola razor for 3 years. I'm not getting the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 - Titanium.

at&t version doesn't have the VT camera hardware, so unfortunately you won't be able to use in at&t version, you need to buy online or from sony ericsson directly the "i" version of z750 to get VT camera.

z750i is for world except US and has VT camera for video calls and z750a is for US market without VT camera, as according to AT&T US has less market for VT camera so it is customized for AT &T

Is there any way to get message alerts to repeat until cleared? I generally like the phone, but my previous Motorolla kept beeping at me until I acknowledged that a missed call, sms etc had been noted. I miss that feature and can find nothing like it on the phone. I suppose most users now have their phones glued to their ears and so Sonyericksson probably don't see the need??? ?

re: streaming settings and PanUDefaultAccount and USB Ethernet settings. i tried and it did not work. it only appears to have longer battery energy level (appear as full) when in fact it had dropped as per normal. To see real battery level, simply press the one of the volume buttons at the left hand side when phone flipped open - this will show phone status including battery level as %. More importantly, if you selected USB ethernet as a setting, you can not undo it thereafter. you'd have to re-install software. you have been warned. (battery life is quite poor for the phone but apart from this, it is a very fast, user-friendly and stable cell phone)

Yes ur right that ATT is controlling tomuch. It is taking out the SE good menu & options. Why do ATT need to take out the second camera?? Why do ATT takout GPS, siwtching off 3G etc. Giving more choice to users is better. ATT can put all this options atleast in a advance option. So, for a while tmobile will have customers then after their contract is done then they will be going to ATT than again to tmobile , ATT etc. If this providers gives same importance to existing customers then they can keep more customers with them. Couple of years age, with 1 years contract we used to get 1 year phone warrenty. Now with 2 year warrenty we are getting only 1 year phone warreny. Even if they increased phone warrenty along with contract, it should have been great. Any way this phone is good for normal use. I like the phone and it battery comes atleat to 6 hours (close 9 hours), i would have given 100% points to this phone

I rechaged the battery. Then I reduced the screen light to 50%. Now my phone used 8% of battery for 1 day with just 55 sec talk time. Then i spoke 5 mins and phone used 2% of my battery. So for 25 mins talk time, 10%battery will used. So with full battery, we can talk max 250 mins (4.16 hours with full battery drain). I just used my phone for just talk to do the analysis. U guys can try this & post ur experience. When bought the phone, I was able to see the signal bars on outside display. Then called ATT and took out internet & text. After than the signal bars on outside lcd is gone. Any one has this experience?? please post. I will call the ATT and will findout about this. Anyway this phone don't have some basic menu, like you cann't choose how much time you lcd & keypad lights be ON, etc

I like this phone even though a little bit big. I like everything except the battery. Motorolla phone's battery life is much better than this SE. Even though Sony is giving extra battery, there is no use. while travelling you need battery with good life not extra battery. Still u need to charge the extra battery thru phone. Sony is not sending the external charger. IF battery is like 2-3 hours talk time now, I don't know whether it will work for 2 years. But I like the phone. If it is ok to charge for every day or 2 days , this phone is good.

I know of some ppl that use SE phones on t-mobile. What they've done is buy them from places like ebay or straight from SE. Once you get the phone all you have to do is slip in the SIM (possible call your provider to give the IMEI) turn it on and enjoy!!

I love this phone - it's just easy to use and has a lot of good functions. My one complaint has been the battery life though. It's not horrible but it's not as good as my Motorola. I just changed the USB setting (as mentioned below) so hopefully this improves. I don't see how to change the 3G setting in my phone. Can someone help me with that or give me tips on how to preserve battery life even more?

So it�s been about a week since I updated to the USB settings and did see a considerable difference in my battery life: now lasts about 2-3 days (rather than 8-10 hours) with a decent amount of calls per day as well as good amount of text usage and I use the Media Player with my car stereo. I still decided to opt what other people have done and contacted Sony Cust Service and req to have a replacement battery sent out. As for the media player you can see a similar version on the device simulator for the K850 : Just go to Menu and select the media player to see how it works. Play with it to see how you like it! Yes, this phone is GSM. I am using this phone for past 1 week. Battery is coming about 2.30 - 3 hours. Changed the setting to USB as mentioned below, yet the check the battery now. I love the phone. Adddress book is good like all other SE phone. You can save 5-7 numbers + email, web address, 2 home address, birthday etc.

I just got this phone from ATT after using the W580i, and it's a breath of fresh air. The buttons are larger and for me lets me text much faster. The interface is a little different from the w580i and Z520a and I'm still getting used to it. But all in all it's a great phone. The front doubles as a mirror and scrolls the songs you're listening to. The new media player is awesome! (similar to the PSP/PS3 menu interface). In the sun the front display is really hard to see but the main screen is large and in charge lol that also changes it brightness based on the surrounding ambient lighting. The ATT version has removed the video calling feature by physically removing the camera as well as the software and has all the MEdia Net and ATT Music and CV (Cellular Video) options. One thing that I noticed right away was the battery life. Assuming that it was the 3G I just let it go. But after a week of owning the device I notice that the battery life is only about 1 day, requiring me to charge it nightly. I�m not a heavy calling person � at most 20-40 mins a day but I send text and picture messages to no end and use the music player. But I think I found the answer on an ATT forum it may not be the 3G trying to connect but the phone searching for a data connection. Here�s the instructions to correct it posted by Stuggernaut: Click MENU button Go into SETTINGS Switch to the CONNECTIVITY tab Scroll down to STREAMING SETTINGS and select that. In there there are two options "Connect using" and "Allow local conn." Click on CONNECT USING In here I noticed that unlike other options, there is a second TAB. The first time is "Mobile Connections" and the second one is "Local Connections" Go to the LOCAL CONNECTIONS There are two options in there."PanUDefaultAccount" and "USB Ethernet" Switch to USB ETHERNET I�ve done this and so far it seems to be working great - I�ll post my findings after using it for a while.

it should be available in singapore, if it is out of stock then just get it online, it will be available on many sites like amazon and many more. make sure you buy Z750i and not Z750a if you are out of US. reagarding the phone, the phone might give a look of that its bulky but its not at all bulky , infact its light compared to many other phones. in US its available in Bestbuy, if anybody wants to see the phone in person. they can go and have a look to it. this phone can be used as modem upto 1mbps speed easily possible and you can use the internet setting option to be set accordingly and connect it thru laptop for browsing but that will be thru your data connectivity and charges for data will be applied. so i recommend to get data plan and you can easily let go your net provider service which usually cost more than the data plan charges, atleast true in US, i am not sure of other countries

I am not sure about ATT turning that mode off, but it could be because ATT bought 3G spectrum from Ericsson and they sold their 2G to Suncom. ATT wants the user to just use 3G so that they can earn the returns of what they have invested, if thats the case then its going to be with any 3G phone. However here is how you can turn off the 3G mode and just use 2/2.5 G settings-->connectivity-->mobile networks-->GSM & 3G Networks select the one which you want GSM=2/2.5G and other would be GSM & 3G this feature is going to be there in all SE phones. regarding the talk time in 3G mode, max this technology can achieve is 5hrs and that is also network operator dependent, if the phone is constantly searching for a signal from near by Base station then there is more requirement put on your power amplifier of phone, so it will use more of the battery life, same thing is true when your bluetooth is also on. so turn off the bluetooth when not in use (this also keeps away the hackers off from reaching ur phone) then there are certain other things which consume the battery life like ur usage applications and the way you use your phone. last but not the least, never let your phone battery die completely and then charge it, always recharge your phone when the battery is like 30 % left, this will ensure long battery life and its also more safe to use phone when battery has more than 15% of the charge remaining. you can go and buy this phone, you won't regret. cheers

that is not true, when u read on some of the forums that just somebody's opinion, when the company post its specs including the talk time they have that analysis done over a very big sample size and lot of research goes into that to keep good talk time, sony ericsson is generally famous for having good battery life phones. the talk time in GSM mode is 9 Hrs and its 5 hrs in UMTS mode, now UMTS talk time is always going to be less because thats the inherent drawback of tecnology irrespective of the company phone u buy, its going to be less. Make sure ur Bluetooth is turned off when not in use, and try to use GSM mode for voice call by turning off the 3G mode.

bsement reception depends on the isolation provided by the basement walls mainly, if the isolation is stronger the recieved signal strenth would be weak ofcourse it depends on the network signal strength and the antenna performance of the phone. i have used this phone is my basement of house and it worked good.

There is a thread regarding the z750 battery issue on AT&T's website. It's under their support/forum/sony ericsson section. There are many having to charge the phone daily even with minimal usage. A few have gotten a new battery from Sony Ericsson, so there may indeed be a problem either with the batteries shipped with the phone or the phones constantly trying to find a 3G signal and thus draining the battery quickly.

abc... thanks, I knew about the flight mode, but since I just use it as a phone (make and receive calls and nothing else), the flight mode is really the same as having the thing off for me. offline mode or flight mode means turns off just the wireless radio parts of the device, for safe use on an airplane where radio transmitters are not allowed... so u can't use ur phone to call someone, send sms, browsing, etc.. but u still can use ur phone to play music,watch video, etc.. after u set ur phone to offline mode, just leave it until the battery "dead", don't use it.. this is how the company test the battery.. for users it's impossible to do it

I have had this phone a few weeks and can tell you that the battery life is nowhere near what I expected or what is stated in the specs.(16 days standby) I don't use the phone for anything but occasional calls and have to recharge the phone almost daily. I love this phone! I have had it a few days now. To respond to some of the questions: - it seems pretty sturdy but is not as sturdy (nor as fat) as my previous w600i - the buttons feel good to me, much better than those on the w580 slider - it does have GPS! With google maps, it shows my location quickly. There is another location services app, which seems to always be searching... Maybe they use different satellites. - the navigation is very similar to all the SEs that I have tried. It is not the fastest to navigate, but it is consistent. You can program the up-down-left-right directions only, unless you know how to hack it, I suppose - the camera quality is very good. For 2MP, it is much better than the 1.3MP on my w600i. It seems to be more than double the quality. It also has the cool rapid-fire shooting, which can take 4 pictures within about a 2 second period, so you can get action shots. I'm still getting used to the flip vs. the swivel, but it's getting there. I'd definitely give it a thumbs up!

this phone is awsome. i had it for about a year but lost it :( its a little bulky but looks fab. you cant see the outside screen in the daylight but its not a problem. the sound quality is the best! its the loudest phone ive ever heard, like a mini boom box. if you get this phone (reccommended) just be careful not to scratch the outside screen, cuz it does show up. picture quality is also amazing but only during the day and putting files on or off the phone is a walk in the park. dam i miss it :(

z series usually is clamshell type, k series is good in camera, like k800 and later using sony cyber-shot with xenon flashlight, w series is good as walkman, so it has better sound quality compare with others, my sis-in-law using z610, my wife using w810, and i got k800 be4 i change to n95 8gb, so i can explain to u, hope it can be help for u. ^-^

The phone is brilliant, but the camera is truly awful. Photos are purple down the left if you shoot indoors, and darker down the left if you shoot outdoors. Rubbish. My old Motorola V3 camera had better quality than this, only lower resolution.

z650i doesn't have radio and the color of keys are different from z750i. 650i has black keys, z70i has silver keys.

This phone is indeed user-friendly and with good features, too. Though the phone is not really for music, the sound quality when used for mp3 is satisfactory. The camera is not that bad too especially when used during daytime. Though it doesn't have a flash unlike the other phones, there's a feature that will make the pic a little bit brighter when the light is not good. Anyway the games included are INVESTIGATORS, QUADRAPOP and SIMS 2. I just don't know if the games are the same for all releases worldwide. To answer the questions I saw awhile ago, yes, the message alert can be your mp3 files. But as far as I know, you can't set any locks so that your messages can't be read. The OLED is a cute feature. It lights up whenever there's an activity in your phone. Missed calls are also showed together with how many times you've missed them. You can see who called you once you checked the phone. One message shows you who sent it. But the phone will just show you how many new messages you have when the messages are sent by different people. The OLED shows the time, signal, battery, 3g signal(if there's any), silent mode (if activated), and a little envelope if there's unread messages.:) The phones is good but I also have some problems with it. It takes awhile to boot-up, approximately 30- 40 seconds. Also, the screen doesn't stay on for a long time. Due to this, I don't see the screen saver that I've set. Hope this helps a little bit though I've got carried away typing. :)

I just got this phone yesterday, I have found it very user friendly, the only downfall was really nothing to do with the phone, was it was a replacement handset for a duff motorola v3x, and i lost all my ringtones, one especially. I couldn't download them to anywhere because they were all locked.. oh well. Other than that, the phone is good. Oh, one other thing, i would like to see it with a reminder beep if you have a missed call/message there like motorola. cheers

The "mirror" is fantastic! Need a little getting used to though, since it has more buttons than my previous T630. Not a "green" phone. Can't last me for 2 full days. (Compare to T630 which can last for 3 full days with intensive talking.) Might be the large LCD and more functions/games that is eating the electricity. Given another chance to choose again, I won't invest in this model.

I can see that the eloquence of the design of this phone has left some unable to utter, or type, a coherent sentence. Or they might have been like that before. This phone has just recently been released in Australia by Telstra. The handset reception is fantastic - better than any in it's class. The phone does take a long time to turn on and load up, and when it's doing that you can't use it, but once running it is quite speedy and responsive in navigation and accessing features. Expect about 1min 30sec for boot-up sequence to complete from the time the screen lights up.

Beware...this is a VERY shiny phone which makes it prone to leaves fingerprints all over it, i bet it might be easily get scratched. plus, in my personal opinion the external display is strangely align...it would have been better if they don't make it vertical. But then again, maybe this is some kind of experiment to see how people take it. If you don't mind those little things, go ahead, it might be a pretty good investment.

I love Sony Ericsson phones, but anyone know which ones, if any have an awesome, maybe kind of loud ear piece, b/c I can barely hear anything on my w810i, oh yeah by ear piece I mean the actual speaker in the top of the phone, not for music. It's just a little bit difference btw z750 and z610i- the screen is bigger, FM radio capable, HSDPA and better color. but it may be have a shorter standby time as the resolution of the screen is bigger. the appearance i think is the same.

@Tea - this phone was previously going to be released in Europe and the USA, but when it disappeared from the SE homepage (I'm from the UK) I e-mailed them direct. They replied, saying that they now anticipate that this phone will only be released in North America. As it has disappeared from all SE sites except the American one, I think we can safely assume it is not going to be released anywhere else, unfortunately. I had my eye on this one as well, but gave up hope a while ago and got a different handset!

HSDPA is NOT always 1.8. Currently in the U.S. AT&T supports HSDPA 1.8 and soon will support HSDPA 3.6. Dont know where you got your information, but you are wrong. For example. The Razr V3xx and Razr2 V9 both are HSDPA 3.6 devices.

OK, to everyone in the UK who is awaiting the release of this phone - you're going to disappointed. I e-mailed Sony Ericsson when I noticed that this phone had disappeared from the UK line-up of handsets, and they replied saying that this handset will NOT be released in the UK. Furthermore, it is anticipated that this handset will be released ONLY IN NORTH AMERICA. I am really not impressed about this, and I have told them so. Thanks George, but it is a little bit larger than Z610, as well as it did not stated that it is available for 3G call. It is true that it has a touchscreen function, which means its like a PDA? And with its reflextive surface, im afraid that it might get scratches. Do they have any cover that can protect it?

we will be selling these phones soon in Australia. IMHO i think the handset looks too cheap. needs to catch up with samsung and nokia. but time will tell. I just hope they fix all the software bugs that are always in SE phones

The difference between this and the Z610 that's most prominent (for me anyway, besides the FM radio) is that the z750 is Quad Band. Most euro users don't care if it's quad or tri, but here in the states it makes a world of difference.

All the websites say the release time is during the Q3, which means third quarter. Usually that's between the months of July - September. I do have a question though, what's the different between the z750 and the z610? My friend has the z610 (T-Mobile service) and I read somewhere that the z610 is not compatible with Cingular service, which is what I have. Will the z750 work with Cingular SIM card?

IMHO. for those who always complain on SE's marketing strategy, complaining always is not good for yourself if you keep going on the negative sides of a coin. note that SE is trying it's best to give you the quality you needed the most, stable battery, good price and depreciation value, good features and communication and multimedia, isn't this what matters most to all of you? if you want the features of a nokia then go for it, but never return complaining about the issues of that side then. anyway SE has bunch of accessories for your style. because people have different lifetyle and tastes SE decided to diverse it's products functionality similar and looks wise so people can use the accesories to express their own taste and style while having the "same" functions with other models in different design that suits the target consumer of it. maybe this is what is hardly understandable with peoples who want this and that. so they end up disappointed always that seems that they are always unsatisfied with things. too bad for them. for me it's only a "matter of taste" and i think this is what SE, Moto, nokia and samsung is doing right now.

I had the z610i for about 2 months and loved it, except for a few things: First, the screen size and resolution was too low = problem solved with the z750i. Second, considering how absolutely gorgeous the front ofthe phone looked, the back (including battery cover) looked and felt quite cheap. I really hope its a bit better this time around (maybe some of that soft touch coating like on the old e398 or the nokia 6131 haha). And finally, although I'm completely aware of SE's marketing strategy to not put autofocus and flash(led)in certain phones so they won't compete with the cybershot line, it would still be so nice on this one. SO glad they improved the screen. HOPE they improved the backing. No biggie about the AF in the camera (but flashlght option would still be nice, i really use it alot). Either way, I'm still buying it as soon as it coms out! Cheers! and for those of you who care, happy 420!

Wonderful color i dreamt of having a phone with such color from sony ericsson long time ago .. BUT i can buy it if only it has some enhanced features like : it must have outside screen to show the caller identity + also it should have outside botton to keep the ringing to scilent or answer the call if i want to without having to open the phone to know who is calling and then decide to answer or to keep the rining to scilent .. Would people stop asking the difference between the Z750i and Z610i. They are in the same shell. The key differences are as follows -Z750i has a 2.2" 240x320 screen vs the Z610i 1.9" 176x220 screen -Z750i has QuadBand 850/900/1800/1900 with EDGE and TriBand UMTS 850/1900/2100 with HSDPA upgraded speed while the Z610i is only 900/1800/2100 GSM/GPRS (no EDGE) and 2100 regular UMTS no HSDPA. -Z750i has the new SE UI which uses send end keys and gets rid of the back key.

It will come out to both sides of the Atlantic some time in late summer/early fall (Q3).
