That was my favourite phone from Sony i used that until 2016 now the time is bad for sony but somehow they are keeping it in a different way still they are not adopting any notch or hole kind of crap and to me it is especial by the way i am getting interest in new upcoming Xperia X1 because it reminds me of some old memories that I have with Sony Ericsson now Ericsson is gone after giving us spectacular phones but i hope that one day Sony is gonna get back with these kind of devices!

Still arguably the best looking phone ever made, shame Sony gave up on this design, I would buy an updated version with current specs and a metal body. And yes, smaller bezels are nice the same way big breasts are nice yet people always claim the latter is superficial. The current gen thin rounded notched bricks can't touch the overall design of this thing with 10ft pole.

Bought in september 2012 , 25000INR. working till date without any issue. Battery is still good and healthy. I keep the phone switch off 11 pm to 6 am. To save the battery and increase life of phone. I use simple feature phone in night with second sim.

I had this phone as well, biggest issue was battery life. Further it was great. It still works like a champ but since the battery has gone so bas i can't really use it anymore as a daily phone. There are some scratches on the screen but it survived many drops without any problem. Price quality those days you got way more innovation for a lot less money.

I have had it since 12th May 2012 - never had to repair it, I even washed it and it still works properly, it has no scratches even it has fallen many times (I also drive over it by a bike - my fault) almost never freezes (maybe once per two weeks), honestly - the best phone I ever had. just one or two minus for it - there is no way to get a protection screen any more and I lost my charging cap two years ago I don't know for you guys, for me is keeping good performance through years more important than having good performance just for two-years warranty - that's reason why I like Sony

Bought the phone 2 years ago secondehand. As the other comment it fell a lot, and nothing happend. But after a time the coating on the screen let lose. In the end i bricked it by turning it on with almost zero power. It crippled the boot sequence. Not even a full cold reset worked anymore. Second phone, same type has been working now without flaws. Upgraded it from 2.3 to android 6.0 its still a fast phone. Just don't expect Mindcraft on it running smootly. Battery relativly easy exchanged for low costs, you can do it yourself with some small tools. Definitly a good phone.

An amazing phone. I have the phone for more than four years. Zero problems. Fell hundreds of times without cover or shield and nothing has happened to it. I'm running android version 4.1.2. This device saved a lot of money. Camera button and the option to connect a strap makes the phone a real pocket camera. It has also an HDMI port that can connect to TV to see movies and pictures. I'm onsidering rooting the device to allow room for additional applications (originally there is small partition of 2GB) . It is best not to put a screen protector since the phone comes from the factory with such protector (If you see the SONY logo it is part of this protector). Additional protector heat up the phone In time test this phone is a big winner. Most of my friends replaced their phone more than once in the last 4 years. This phone is powerful enough for me and its GPS out perform most phones.

download firmware file ftf xperia s and instaled flashtool xperia with driver on pc. Open flashtool, choose flash mode and file ftf. Than conected xperia s off mode and push volume down to conect to pc, wait until all process done. Still use ics 4.0.4 for xperia s.

I had this phone for 3 years and let me tell you: IT'S AWESOME! Doesn't have bugs, or any problems. No game is gonna lag on Sony xperia s! Only bad thing about it is that you can't put in any type of SD card. But you will have 32 GB of space and the system doesn't take any space up. I recommend this phone for gamers and selfie takers.

Probably the Z5 lines up. But I recommend you to wait until the X series fully release. Then the Z5 lines will go down. All 3 cameras on the Z5 lines got the same spec and performance. Depends on your prefer screen size.

One of the slowest android phones I have ever used, my ipod touch from '07 runs better than this and has less specs, really pathetic, only good thing seems to be the camera, and even then isn't worth it since it needs like literally no joke at least 1 minute to open or even take a shot. Camera is worse off during the night.

sony xperia do not send your faulty goods to sony central services. they do not admitl iability just send you a quote for repairs, no guarantee they will repair the damage and then charge you to return the item if you do not accept. take the goods back to the retailer, john lewis in this case for a no quibble full refund. Xperia has 1GB RAM and 32GB ROM and iPhone has 1GB and 16GB as standard. Xperia has 12 and 1.3 Mpixel cameras, iPhone has 8 and 1.2 Mpixel. Appels bussines idea is to sell old low tech phones with monopoly OS for five time the price. When will their customer reacts and leave for Android. Samsung att least sell the latest and the greatest tech for highest price. Glad that I am not an iPhone user.

Just search around and found this Mokee MK4.4.4 official rom for my Xperia S. It is based on CM with lots of customization. Flashed it and I am still laughing... So far this is the best thing I did to my Sony.

Nice big screen, but few important flaws - the three buttons on bottom of phone are like gamble, forget to press them in "emergency", they work one out of three times (there's no fix to fix it). Microphone is weak, people complain to speak louder. Often the LED after finishing phone charge stays on, only restart turns it off.

Using XperiaS since 2013 I'll post a simple Review: Great HD Screen/ Beautiful 12mp Back Camera !! But very slow at focussing / Bad front camera (if you're addicted to selfies dont buy this phone) / Good Internal memory but not enough. Had to delete some apps and files from time to time / Calling and texting is all fine / The Speaker's are excellent. I like the way my phone rings / Good at gaming but it heats so fast (just like other android phones,normal) / The BATTERY... A normal battery, just like other batteries, it lasts 6 to 8 hrs, sometimes 4-3 hrs (if i'm playing a game). Charger problems, bought a new one. But the battery is good (I recommend buying a Portable Power Bank) / The plastic external phone cover can be sometimes easily scratched (cover needed). And oh yes, i hate the fact that i can't find covers for my lovely phone :( Finally, i really love my phone. I listen to music all day long, capture and edit some pictures, watch some youtube video's,i play one game (i dont like games). Instagram,Whatsapp,Snapchat,Viber,Facebook,Messe­nger,Picsart and a few small apps are all on my phone.But i've got to say, If you're a very excessive phone user, mmmm not very recommended, you will suffer with this phone. I think this phone can really last for years, at least with me. THANKS (& Sorry for my english)

Have been using this device since 2 and half year....the overall device experience is good But as the device is outdated it lags when running new games because of its old chip set and 1gb RAM camera quality during night is shit. But the same camera during daylight performs like hell. I have click awesome pics through this phone cam. The loudspeaker is not that loud enough. In-call voice is low. Apart from this the phone is awesome for a moderate user. I have rooted the device and flashing different custom ROMs, and device runs very good and smooth. Whichever lags I came across were ROM related. So changing ROM helped. Best ROM I found on XDA for this phone is ParanoidAndroid BETA4 (Don't use BETA6 as it has bugs). You can try it yourself

Yup.Very Simple. Just Half press the Camera button on the right bottom of mobile and let the camera focus the image. When the central box get green the press the remaining half. Or Keep press the Camera Button on the screen and when the box get green, leave the button.

Clue in 2nd para. of Online User Guide "contacts saved in your Google account". Open Google. Note that this contains ALL your contacts, not just the ones you might be thinking about, will become obvious. YOUR CONTACTS are grouped as Contacts. Start typing in one u know and presto. Go down find Search Phone then Show More. All there. Bit of practice. To edit open that contact, top RH corner, image + pencil. Done.

You have two main option, A: Exporting Contacts to file (.vcf) and choose direction to Internal Storage and will show you the file direction, then send a file by email to ur email, or connect your mobile to your computer and have a copy on ur machine. B: second option by using Sony Pc Companion, choose back up and restore option then you can back up ur contacts, call logs, messages, etc. C: third option, go to xperia home and find backup and restore application, after you finish backing up, go to internal memory through you computer after you connect ur mobile with it and copy this folder (.semc-fullbackup) because if you do factory reset or formatting by using Sony PC companion u will lose the folder, then after formatting return folder to the mobile and restore ur data by using same application. I hope I have giving you your answers

Well, you can manually update to the better 6.2.B.1.96. There are articles (search using google) which explain how to download the file, how to prepare your Xperia S, and how to follow the instructions. 6.2.B.1.96 is the last officially supported software by Sony. ;)

xperia s is one of the strongest smartphones from sony and amongst all android phone, my reasons are when your battery is fully charge I noticed that the phone prevents the phone from excessive charge those of you who likes Samsung phones their phones doesn't have this ability the maximum a Samsung battery can last is 1yr after that then you start having battery issues. 2. xperia s is drop test is awesome 3. when you notice lag in your xperia s pls I advice that you avoid OTA updates from google play and set it to manual 4. try root your xperia s and install greenify.apk, greenify(donation package), xpose module, frame work. for rooting goto xda developers 5. The HD is awesome apart from the sony bravia engine that's enhances pics, to edit your pics try installing picsay pro.apk NB if you are a heavy user and you start noticing lag everytime I advice you wipe the phone because data clache, thumbnails etc needs to be delected.but don't forget to backup important apps, contacts have been using mine for a year+3 months its awesome

Had this phone over a year and really want to change it. Freezes every so often and the battery is useless. I can't get 20 hours standby with it. One time it was dead after just 5 hours with it being in standby mode most the time.

i've been using this xperia s since august 2012, my first paycheck on my first permanent job, and i should say, its the most solid smartphone i've ever used. although it happen to be freezed sometimes, just a reboot would be fine and the hardware durability really amazed me, the screen, sound quality, button, is still as good as new. im using android 4.1.2 jelly bean, and really enjoy using it. as for charging time, it only need around 2hours from 20% or below to be fully charged, and oh, im using another charger, Samsung Note 2 charger, the one with 2.0Amp charging current, i didnt use the stock charger because it is slower than the note 2's. the battery's also fine until now, no damaged, no swelling and such. as far as i know, Sony did it well for the battery not to overcharge when the battery is overheat or the temperature is quite high. that is why i never had any problem with the stock battery until now, 2years.. another job well done for Sony Smartphone, even though they are quite slow for the new model implementation compared to Samsung, Sony's smartphone are really solid and well made to be used for long time.

Was using this phone for past one year. Recently would hang while making a call or would be slow. Just reset the phone and was fine, only to know that now my phone only works on 3g network. It does not work on 2g, says unable to connect to network. Only 3g SIM card with 3g network coverage areas the phone works. Can any one help. Tried all stuff. Gsm mode ~ does not register at all. PleaSe help. Really good phone though.

And for charging. When mobile data is in gsm mode, it will take you 3 hours. When wcdma mode, it will take you 6 hours. Thats all. ;)

Hi, good eve. I've been using this phone since August 2012. i did experienced some problems all you people are posting. But I had successfully manipulated them to not interfere upon my usage for 26hours with mobile data continuously running. I will tell you how. Shut down your phone, and then turn it on. Don't touch the screen till it locks itself. Now unlock it. And use it as you prefer. It will not hang or so whatever, even morethan a month without restarting. If you want to prolong the battery life, Turn your mobile data to gsm only, If you are just using apps for messaging, then gsm is enough. By chance if you want to make a call using an app, then switch mobile data to wcdma. Then switch it back to gsm after the call. Hope it helps you. Good night.

The phone is switching off it's self with a display message "due to high temprature phone is turning off" but the temp was about 20' and due to this the battery is consumed very much before switching off it was 80% after i turned it on it was 42% .

Sony phone is absolutely stunning. The user interface is so amazing, the weather gadget is the most realistic compared to the ugly weather shown on HTC or Samsung devices. The display is extremely high quality and bests almost everything out there on the market. This phone isn't very good overall. I liked the jelly bean 4.1 UI and quality of display of the phone. There are more negative things to this phone rather than positive. I mainly think it is the problem with the software rather than hardware because most times, there is a lag towards every command such as opening apps or taking videos on the camera. There is a phone memory of 1GB and internal memory of around 26GB but you have to manually add apps to internal memory or else it will automatically move towards phone memory. Also, there is a problem with doing basic commands such as calling; such as sometimes it always lags before calling a person. Unless Sony themselves are willing to spend more time actually creating a better update of the UI so there is less lags, better efficiency of battery life and a general improvement in the software aspects, it's not worth the money. Honestly, I believe there are other alternative phones at cheaper price which are better value than this phone.

I think its a good phone, but obviously not one of the best. I upgraded to jelly bean and clearly you notice the device running slower than before, But it never crash or reboot itself. The battery life is poor and the camera is not what you might expect from a sony device, specially the stabilization in video mode.

I have Sony Xperia S bought from T-mobile January this year. After two months use, the phone screen has hair crack while I put it in my pocket. So the phone is useless all together. I sent this phone to Sony for evaluation ( i paid shipping myself), their conclusion is this is customer abuse ("you put the phone in the pocket"). It is not under warranty. Guess what buddy. I encountered the same problems after updating to JB, camera that I onced loved became blurry, I always have to manually adjust the settings to have the desired clarity, unlike with my note 2 that has an option for camera reset, the phone lags to much as well, much to my displease as I always adored sony due to the classy designs and camera performance, music player and apps keeps on crashing, at first I have considered it app-related issues but when I was about to open my feedback to playstore, everyone says nothing but positive stuff about the following appss. battery life is awful, mine lasts for 4 hrs maximum per full charge, phone gets constantly hot as well. I asked my friends who are also loyal Sony users and they encounter the same lagging issue. The other fella who opened the issue on Sony not soldering the socket once its loose already? that's also correct, I experienced that as well in a sony service center here in the Philippines with my previous Sony before. I cancelled my plans to upgrade to Z2 fearing that once it will be upgraded again, it will eventually lag and crash as well. Xperia S was truly amazing when it was still running Gingerbread. Hopefully Sony can be relevant again, my sound systems, dvd player and other stuff are mostly Sony, I just hate what's happening to their mobile phones nowadays.

Hardware is good but very bad software. 1) So many unwanted apps with root permission which user can't uninstall. 2) Camera pictures are so bad you can't share it anywhere. 3) Biggest problem is 3G which NOT able to catch signals properly. So you may miss important calls due to out of coverage area (in a area where network is proper) 4) Wifi hotspot does not work properly. Phone went to sleep mode when your wifi hotspot is on. No one is ready to fix existing issue for this phone. Probably I won't buy Sony phones from next time.

My display is having manufacturing problem and found black spot which is increasing day to day and covering most of display area which is danger sign,so,I submitted phone to the mobilestore In India under extended warrenty.They changed my display but original SONY logo was not there and found SONY Ericsson logo.Also display was yellowish shade on white background. It's the same for me. Loosing charge very quickly when playing HD games. Could that be a factor? what have you done last before it started hanging? Check the memory of the device. ifiyou notice it hanging after recent change or download, you can uninstall or undo the last change and hopefully it solves the problem if it's just a software issue. resetting to factory settings would help as well. If it's a hardware issue, if this still doesn't work, you have to get the phone to a service center so they can check if there's hardware defect.

I too have this problem when the battery fully drains and you start charging. Once charged it may not come on. However, try pressing and holding down the power button and side volume button together. This is also recommended in troubleshoot in the manual.

I think there was a similar issue with my phone (xperia S) which was not reading sim. I got it checked with a reputed service centre and to find fungus had developed and after cleaning and drying it under special conditions in workshop it works fine now. How the fungus develops can be due to water or taking phone to toilet when bathing. Mine actually fell into water!

I have had this phone for about 2 years now. the phone is good but the biggest let down for me about this phone would be the battery. the battery only lasts for about 6 to 7 hours on a light usage. and about 2 to 3 hours on heavy usage. the camera is good on this camera but there are other phones out in the market which have better options and better battery life for the same price.

I've watched 2 of these things die, (thankfully not mine as i don't have one) The first to go just decided to go all white on the screen after working perfectly normal just a few minutes earlier. The second one to fail (bought at the same time) just doesn't want to accept calls. I've been there when it has been dialed and it just has the busy signal when called. Not to mention the volume button issue despite being updated which never worked when headphones were plugged in. What has happened to the old Sony build quality, for 2 phones of this level to fail is absurd. hello everyone well Xperia s is indeed a good phone which Sony should not forget it. I have been using this phone for a year and couples of month my review after that is the whole thing about this phone is its sleek design and the display Cleary of the phone is awesome but the battery is a bit disappointing though its enough for one day usage. I mean twice every 24 hours light and moderate usage.. this may be enough for some users. I have been searching in the net that is there a way we can replace the battery with higher capacity around 2230mah which would be enough for heavy user though it is non removable battery but Sony services center can do the replacement I guess high trained technician they got so if there is anyone who had replaced their phone with higher battery do tell me please.. don't want to upgrade because I love this phone and willing to use for another year. . thank you waiting for someone to hit me back..

When I turn on my phone, on lock screen it's written "swype up or down to unlock". After unlocking and locking 2-3 times, this caption is gone, lock screen shows only clock and date. Hi! A have one problem with my Xperia S. Something's wrong with the battery indicator. For example, it shows that battery is at, let's say, 36%. When I put my phone on charger, then it shows that there is only 28% left. If I unplug the charger immediately, it still shows 28%. I've had xperia s from new, over a year and a half. It wasn't to bad at first, then it gradually got slower, started to act up and what not. I was pissed, and then Sony lagged heavily on releasing jelly bean. I hoped that it would have fixed things. Well, everything went from bad to worse when the update finally arrived. Now that I've decided to either get a s4 active or LG G2, it works beautifully. For no obvious reason not a single hiccup in last month or so. Now i'm thinking, great display, fast enough, I still like the design - and hate the look of lg and s4a btw. There still is a sw bug somewhere, I cant install latest update. OTA and pc companion tries to do it, but it fails every single time. No matter, this thing is back to be a cool phone after over a year of constant bitching. I love it.

sp = better processor,battery,gpu,microsd slot,4g network,bravia engine 2,8 gig of memory but 5.8gig available,will be supported or get more updates for long time,bigger screen s=beter back and front camera(12mp &1.2mp vs 8mp &0.3mp),32gig memory with no micro sd slot If inbuilt memory and camera of sp(8mp is very good although 12mp of s is better) is not issue to u, i suggest that buy sp or xperia zr which have 13mp camera,2gig of ram and waterproof but has 8 gig memory. Dont know, but i have the xs and let me tell you, its almost indestructible, i alway throw it to the floor or a table, punch a wall with it or whatever that implicates that it could be damaged forever, but stills very good, nothing happens, and a lot of sweat went into it and damaged the screen and the power button and they fixed automatically just by overheating the phone. Oh, one more thing, if you search in google, a lot of people say that their iphone/samsung exploded, burned their house and so on, but not the same news from xperia s, cuz it has an android app that prevents from overheating, did i help u?

Guys if you want to check the camera quality go into your instagram app (if you have an instagram account) and search for "xperias" in the "tags" and you will see many photos taken by xperia S :) After viewing the pictures i think the camera is fabulous !!

Hello,You can Directly update from GB to JB. If you are excited to get Android 4.1 on your device then you can update. But remember that 4.1 (s/w ver 6.2.B.1.96) update has some bug which are still not addressed. Sony is already busy in fixing those. So, waiting for few days can be good.

i got xperia s for 250� and it is by far the best smartphone for its price.... in fact it pretty much offers you what a galaxy s3 does and xs has better camera...you don't need superfast quad core cpus for a smartphone... with the latest update it runs almost as smooth Xperia z..... and battery life is no longer a problem for me.... it can last for 1 to 2 days easily.... so to sum up you get a 400� phone for 250� only...

Sorry every phone has its own storage space for your OS system. If they provide you with a 1 GB memory it also means they have to load in your OS system. Otherwise you cant use your phone. So theres nothing to be disappointed about.

I guess its for people who carry macbook and a usb charger around. keep the led brightness to the lowest when not in use, if you check out the phone the screen takes 50% of its battery, avoid gaming seriously, drains it down like a watefall. keep the sleep option to 1 min it runs a day pretty well with that.

I have my xperia s for a year now, and I have no complaints... sure sometimes it freezes, but it is always my fault.. I turn on so many games, that are all left working in the background...obviously thats too much work for my phone, and then it freezes.. when that happens I just turn it off and back on, and it's like nothing ever happened :D really, a great phone.. it's fast, and the camera is great, and it has sooo much space for all my Play Store applications :D

You mean screenshot? Just press power button and volume down simultaneously. You just practice until you perfect.. And if the phone hang up or stuck, press power button and volume up simultaneously then just wait a few seconds and it will shutdown.

Yes. I bought it 15/07/2013 then it was ICS. After 4 days when i plugged PC companion via USB cable with my desktop automatically it said your upg8 version JB is .200. Now my phone is super Smooth, no problems at all. No battery drains 18 hours easily run .I am fully satisfied to use it. I don't know what will upg8 after that. Back in June, i reported of a new Sony Xperia S (LT26i) firmware update that was rumoured to arrive in early July. Well obviously that did not come to pass, but apparently a new update is still on the agenda for Xperia S/SL owners. Sony pretty much confirmed as much on the official support forums, saying that it will have build version number 6.2.B.1.XX. There�s no ETA for the update, but GUYS we�ll keep our eyes peeled.

This really hurts me say this, but being a seasoned Sony Ericsson user for the last 10 years, this has got to have been the worst phone I have ever owned, even worse than the K850i which I had trouble with a few years back (but music player was great though) and they gave us the truly fab W995, which although not a smartphone (and why I parted with it) gave me absolutely no trouble at all and was a killer music phone with sensational sound. The thing that really hurts is that I really wanted to like the S as it had jaw-dropping specs and was fast when it worked. But it has been as unreliable as sin as the phone has constantly been 'freezing' for what just started as for a few minutes started turning into a few hours. I have persevered with it but felt that enough was enough. I have now switched to the Xperia Z and all I can say up to now is so far so good. Sony had true potential with the S, but was just a handover from the Sony Ericsson days. Come one now, you can do better than this and the Z proves it.

Once it reaches 20% , the next min it drops down all the way down to 15 taken screen shots of the same to prove it to them. ALso in-call volume is as good as not there...:(.. Im gettiny my motherboard replaced...already given it to the service center out here in Mumbai ... they refused at 1st . but i called the sony help care n had an argument with them and asked them to speak to the engineer after which he re-checked my phone and then deciedd to change it . Did a 412 update JB works well but some usefull app missing like timer for battery save mode, tried coding the combined ICS and JB together and works but still trouble getting it to automate. Hardware is poor and battery too, great phone but then again this was a sudden recall from sony and they agreed no effort was put out to make this phone special lacking mem card fm sender rds radio and their ususal proper camera lense. has cheap wifi adapters and some incompatible issues with aftermarket headsets and car kits

This phone SUCKS. It has sheet software , not recommendable. I i'm having for over a year. Battery low everyday, i can't search through my apps, and if I need for example open calculator, I have to search over the 400 icons. New themes, fluidity is far better than ics, camera improved a lot, small apps is very useful unlike those gimmicks that sammy throws on their customers and the battery life is much better in my case but ofcourse there are some issues like I cant find google now I think it is included on jb update. 6.2.B.0.200 is the build version for my xperia s and yours ? The latest version of Jellybean .211 (not 0200) provide very good performance for the battery in "STANDBY MODE". I have tested this by charging the Xperia S to 100% then set it to "AIRPLANE" mode. Leave the phone on with the screen off. The extend standby mode does a very good job on standby even there are still apps. running inside the background of the phone. The battery only drops 5% after one full day (24hrs) of standby. I tried the same on my SGS3 and it drops 5% in 11 hours even on "AIRPLANE" mode.So this Jellybean update is really a good job from Sony.
