Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet LTE - User Reviews

  • I have it and it is upgraded to 6.0.1.

  • There are two things described on this page which are wrong. One is that it can upgrade to Android 6.0.1 and the other is that up to 128GB micro-SD card can be used.

  • For those who had deep sleep without cant be turned on. Try this.

  • Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is good indeed. It's waterproof and it's lighter than Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1". That's why I love it. What I don't like is the trouble that comes with the waterproof feature. When the battery gets old and you want to change it, here comes the trouble. Because it's waterproof, so, when you remove the battery, you'll have to remove the display. As time passed, the glue around the display becomes difficult to remove. In order to get the battery out of tablet, the only way is to take out the display. If you do that, the chances of damaging the display is 80%. So, you'll have to change the display too. That costs you nearly half the price of tablet. It's really annoying. So, I wouldn't it recommend it because it's so troublesome.

  • Does someone have done a battery change in Sweden ? Very good tablet - But impossible to get repaired. Need to change battery, lasts only one hour. Sony service center has no exchange batteries available. Can buy a non original replacement - but no shop which can do the replacement. When I google there is only help for the tablet Z - not for the Z2 which is much more complicated, since you have to remove the display in order to replace the battery.

  • I have had it since 2015, it worked well without any issues. suddenly it went to deep sleep and is not turning on, I only get a red LED for few min 10-15min. Then Dead again nothing. Its been like this for more than a year. I dont know what to do with this Tablet. I bought it for a for a higher price and its simply not turning on at all.

  • This tab is slim but many suffer from a deep sleep turn on problem where it will not turn on unless battery is removed... google it. The screen is great but the headphone jack is on the bottom which does not let it sit flat when watching a movie. The usb charge port is covered which is annoy to remove for charging. I was able to upgrade it to android 6 with sonys rom but half the time I need it I cant use it due to the deep sleep problem...

  • Sony Z2 tablet of course better my friend

  • this or the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite?

  • I own this tablet and still strong 💪 if you compare it to any tablet with snapdragon 400 series. Pros: 1.Software very good with out any bug. 2.very slim design and light weight. 3. battery still keep up as first day for me I advice you to charge the tablet when battery achieve 45% and this tablet support Quick charge technology which achieve 100% in 1:20 hour. 4. Water proof Cons: 1. Speaker weak. 2. Screen low light

  • Exact the same thing happened to my Z2, twice. It works OK now.

  • Absolutely. Z2 remains fast either on browsing the web or most 2017 apps from Play Store. I just dropped and broke my Z2 screen last week and is actively shopping on Amazon and Ebay for a second z2 tab. You could find a good one around USD$170-200. Just make sure you don't buy a "Verizon Demo" version. I won't pay more than $200. Good luck.

  • I'm interested buying this tablet, so is it worth in 2017?

  • Your bad experience, it's by no way general experiences

  • I have one, and it is great! Got it for $175 refurbished. Just as good as my wife's Samsung Galaxy S 8.4, but with less screen quality. Lightweight and fast. I have searched a lot, and can't find anything better for the price.

  • Get a newer tablet

  • Sony is pretty good. Only for 200$ - good deal, I think

  • Thinking to buy now new for 200 bucks. Is it still enough for reading, serfing the net, videos? using stylus? Or it is better for me to buy a more uptodate device like Samsung A Tab 10/1. thanx!

  • Try to buy google chrome cast for your projector

  • I want to use may z2 tablet in my projector what should I do my projector has no built in wifi please help me

  • It is upgradable to MM 6.0.1 OTA.

  • Let model users, did you need to use Xperia companion for Android updates?

  • I would say no, some of you might differ with my opinion. Let me explain. I bought this tab an year back, it hardly work fine for few months, i constantly had issues and it got back to normal by itself. one of the common problem is , it is not charging , all of a sudden it fixes by itself , i was still under warranty when i took it to Service center. Its a shock of my life what Service center had to say. There is a scratch on my Tab screen and this becomes the reason for service center to declare as damaged piece. And then started negotiating, Refurbished piece will be provided but i have to bare 60% of the cost of the piece. What an idea sir ji. Absolute non sense , i bought this for 45K and a scratch on the screen disqualifies it a warranty piece. i would not go with Sony any more

  • Yes you can but you must connect them using an OTG cable, which you can buy online for around £3-£5. Just connect the one end of the printer cable to the OTG cable, and the OTG cable should be connected to your tablet and it will work.

  • Marshmallow update officially available.

  • Hi my friend how did you update to Marshmallow pls teach me also pls. Thank you so much

  • Updated yesterday to Android M here in UK, no problems, no lag, no crashes, just perfect! I installed mine over the air direct from the tablet, although you can install it through a laptop or desktop.

  • Yes I have one in mine and it works fine. It is nearly full at 110 Gigs and works flawlessly.

  • Can this tablet support 128gb sd card or it's really only 64gb as written on spec?

  • Android M updates has rolled out in Singapore...Anyone updated and any issue?

  • wonder when the android M updates is coming? And will it be better than Lolli ...

  • Of course you can, just purchase an any network tablet and just use it as normal, no need to have a sim card if you don't want to text or call, I have the same, and when you want to text or call just order a sim card from any network of your choice.

  • i don't know..

  • Can you use the z2 4g without a sim card activated?

  • Received mine at the weekend, cost just £235, not bad. What I find strange is that watching videos actually look poor compared to the experience I have with watching on my 6.4" Z Ultra and my 8" Z3 Tablet Compact, don't know why, but videos look pin sharp on my other devices but blurry on my Z2 Tablet, pity really as it's a nice tablet. Love the fact that you can get a sim card for this and make phone calls. not many tablets out there have the phone icon so well done Sony.

  • Thanks for that information.

  • Look at the model number before buying. SGP511 is wifi only while SGP521 has telephony support (LTE)

  • Strange really, in the review GSMarena state there is no telephony, I'm sure there is, but if someone who has this tablet can just clarify. I already have a sony 8" Z3 Tablet and a Z Ultra but I'd like the whole line up so I thought I would try and get the 10" as well. The z4 Tablet is way too expensive and I always buy mine second hand from www.webuy.com I can get the Z2 Tablet for around £200 which isn't bad at all.

  • Lte versions in a tablet means you can put a sim in it to be able to access lte internet speed or take call while unlock mean when you bought the tablet it's not tied to a certain network and you can put any sim on it for example you could put At&t sim on it today and change the sim to Verizon the next day

  • I bought the z2 without knowing about the LTE versions,or what in the hell does unlocked mean, I'm worried I might have bought the wrong one but don't understand what it is that's better or just different, I'm totally lost on what's what, anyone, pls can anyone give me a heads up,,thx peeps

  • i got this to replace my tablet z which was also damn good but right now there isnt another tab on the market that id take over my z2, if you want an all round good tab then you cant go wrong with one of these

  • I have had this tablet since it came out very satisfied with it. The SD card slot makes it even better runs power point and words files with ease.

  • can anyone here suggest best tab for gaming and waching mvies?

  • Same 2years now excellent tab

  • For almost 2 years...I bought this tablet...as of now!very convinient.... very recommended to those who want a satisfaction in terms of batterry, camera, specs and others....

  • Had this tablet for nearly 2 years - it's excellent. Never had an issue

  • no. do not buy a tablet from sony!

  • I am deeply regretted for buying this tablets. I bought it just 2 months ago. The tablet now refusing to charge and power up, my Sony xperia z phone also had the same issue after using it for a year; this is a big failure for Sony. Sony xperia is a disappointment

  • Same thing happened to mine. Totally bricked. Power and volume down to safe boot didn't work. Sony's hardware reset button didn't work. Not even a charging light when plugged in. Dead, dead, dead. But I've had it a year and it's out of warranty, so I was SOL. Then guess what? It 'magically' started working again a day or two later after the battery had run down. Out of morbid curiosity I hit the power button and the screen came on and showed the low battery icon, after which it charged and booted fine. I'm writing this comment on it. I bet yours arrives at the repair center working fine and they send it right back. Just another downside of almost no devices having removable batteries anymore I guess...

  • Is this tablet worth buying?

  • Really sad that this happens to me. Just bought it and use for an hour and I updated the official lolipop through the tablet itself. Then the screen went blank and nothing happens no matter what I press. Send it to the service center and probably got to wait for about a month to get it back

  • Yes it does

  • does this tablet have screen mirroring in Settings> Display like samsung does?

  • yes mark u can make calls by it. using a micro sim :)

  • It doesn't support diving option..,,

  • I have a problem with the touch screen and always lag after I fix in Sony service center.can you fix your service center management in Indonesia. I spend my tablet 2 month in service center.

  • Does this function like the phone in terms of making voice calls with it?

  • if you go to official page, you will se that support 128 GB

  • They didnt said that it can be used for dep diving or to make underwater pictures/movies...nor that its completely water resistant for unlimited time....

  • why? so it is not water proof?

  • I bought my Z2 Tablet 2 months back. This has hung up and not responding to any operation, at 9% battery charging level. Charging indication lights up "green". Is resetting the device is possible with out loosing the docs/Data stored in device/SD Card?. please suggest solutions to awake the unit. I incidentally find a similar problem reported by another user on 2014-11-13.

  • Yes, supports Call Option

  • Guys I'm facing problem on my Xperia z2 tab won't turn on it is like dead.... Somebody can help me...? Don't buy xperia z2 tab guys....

  • does it make phone calls?

  • I have sony tablet z2 it is very good and better than others tablet also I have mobile sony z1 I love it very nice

  • Yes IT recognised my pen drive, my Hard disk even

  • does it support pendrive

  • sony service centre is bad...send my tab to repair bluetooth and wifi after 3 weeks their send back to me only bluetooth was fix but wifi are not...have to send back to them and wait another 3 weeks maybe..not good, no more sony

  • Dose anybody know if this tab support apps to sd or not

  • Here's my experience with the tablet after 1 month of use.I have the WiFi version, and so far everything works perfectly. I haven't had any touch screen issues so I guess that was fixed with the latest firmware. Screen brightness, color etc. is really great, except the screen can get a bit reflective when viewing outside on a sunny day, but since I use it mostly inside its not a problem for me. The design is sleek, and its very light for its size so holding it for a longer period of time with one hand is not a problem. Also the back of the tablet is some kind of non slippery rubber/plastic so the grip on it is really good. It's also very fast with no lag.(with that hardware under the hood that's what you'd expect). Battery life is Ok i guess.I get around 8-10 hrs of on screen time, and I do mostly web surfing, some gaming and some videos/youtube. The camera is kinda bad but I guess it's like that on most tablets, and i really don't intend to take photos with it anyway. All in all Sony did a really good job and I'd recommend it to anyone. Cheers

  • updates screw up my tab, loss bluetooth and wifi send back to sony have to wait 3 week- month repair :(

  • does it come with office tools...word, excel etc..

  • does it support multi tasking like opening multiple pages without closing the other pages

  • Thanks

  • yes, it supports otg.

  • Dose this tab support otg?

  • this tab or the galaxy s 10.5 and why? Thanks

  • Great tablet love it.

  • I am about to buy one but have to choose between this 1 and the Z3 compact tablet. What do you think ?

  • I have brought Sony Xperia Z2 phone recently and facing same Issue :-(

  • it seems that when making call using loudspeaker people on the other end are hearing a lot of disturbance,noise...but when using earphone it's OK..anyone got the same problem?

  • About R9000 , but you can pick it up from mtn for only R369p/m and from orange.com R6500

  • I wish I knew how much this tablet costs in South Africa.

  • its nice go for this tab coz you will have all you need. the phone call, internet with big display

  • Hi everyone, i want to get a new highend android device and i'm confused between this tablet and the xperia z2 phone, help out.

  • You can call with this tablet. Its great!

  • z2 is the best go 4 it

  • After my previous tablet spoilt, I researched around and got this. Let me share my experience with it. I've had this tablet for a month and it's really all I ever need. It runs fast enough for anything and I haven't had any hardware related problems as of yet. I bought the cover and have dumped it in my bag (with a makeshift cushion bottom), travelled halfway around the globe with it, edited my code-heavy website and more. If you are looking for a boombox, a drawing tablet or a battery hunk, this is not for you. The sensitivity is rarely annoying and I've gotten used to it. The display is decent enough to watch anime. WiFi and LTE is fast enough, sometimes faster than my computer (maybe the OS). The design is sleek (woots!). When I listen to my headphones, I need to remove the cover as it gets in the way. When putting this upright (which is most of the time during work), I have to choose 1 of 2 positions to use due to the positioning of the audio jack. The battery lasts for about a half day when surfing the net and streaming music. I tried running stockfish chess engine with 2GB RAM and ponder on and it worked fine, almost beating Houdini on my computer (almost). The camera is bad as is on all tablets. The audio recording is choppy, even after clearing it. I picked this tablet because it had the fastest processor, which is rarely found on a tablet. I must say I'm quite satisfied with it.

  • Hi guys, I want to upgrade my Xperia Tab Z from JB 4.3 to KitKat, I have the notification to upgrade it to kitkat Version 10.5.A.0.230, BUT I remember it was said here that there was another version coming soon (.233)and we shouldn't install the 10.5.A.0.230 because it has many problems. Now I'm just wondering till now no notification for version .233, and if I will be able to get the notification for version .233 if I don't install the version .230 first. Can anyone help me with this? thank you guys

  • In two week time used, front camera is busted. Why?

  • my question is about the mobile internet connection by 3g or 4g simcard. Is it possible to use it as data and phone the placeses wi fi is not available?

  • did anyone encounter any heat problems with their unit

  • I dont know man, with normal usage you can have it up to 2 days....Tested ;)

  • Edit: I thought you said nexus 10 2013. If nexus 10 2014 is coming out, then it will be harder to decide! Lol

  • Hi there. Sorry im not going to answer your question but i just wanna let you know that i have the same dillema too! Im undecided with all the tablets that you mentioned except for nexus 10 bcos that is kinda too old IMO. I want the stylus of the note, but i want the premium quality of the sony. And te ipad air is hard to resist bcos it is cheaper than the sony. So hard to make a decision right?!

  • I had this tablet for a week now and no issues at all its alright running 4G and I used wifi not not dropped once really good piece of tech

  • the heck? why did the screen cracked? what happened to the wifi? maybe it's you're fault and then ur calling sony to replace it and they refused.. go home

  • I have had it 3 days and the screen cracked the wifi kept turning off. Would never buy another

  • I got same issue also... Crackling sound on the z2 tab really worries me...

  • After some time of usage my z2 tab got creaking sound when holding or pressing the body at righthand landscape, really annoys me feels like the built or plastic not good..is it the some with other?

  • sony is better

  • Hi guys, I have Xperia Z Tab, I want to Update it to 4.4 Kit Kat. has anyone updated his Xperia Tablet Z LTE to Android 4.4 Kitkat yet? Is it working properly? PLEASE HELP Thank you

  • yes

  • Supports USB OTG, got an SD card reader working with it and mouse support. External hard disks seem to need a specific type of USB OTG adapter with supporting power cable which I haven't found yet

  • Can anyone who has this tablet, tell me if this tablet support USB OTG. Thanks

  • ipad air or z2 tablet?

  • one downside is the overall design, the bezels are to wide that it ruined the elegance of the tablet's appearance, also the back, it feels cheap due to the matte-plastic material they've used. come on sony, u should establish a reputation on your products. apple's design is very good and i think it's a big factor to consider by the users. having said that, i still think that sony performs better over apple's speaking of technical specs.

  • LTE model supports voice call but in review it is said that it doesn't. Check the matter as it is an important feature.

  • z2 tablet display is IPS not TFT, and it supports micro SD up to 128GB not up to 64GB.

  • Duh. TFT LCD is a variant of typical LCD which use TFT technology. TFT includes TN and IPS. Again, IPS is also a TFT, IPS is a type of TFT. If I'm not mistaken, AMOLED also contain a TFT layer. So stop this TFT bull. It's getting annoying how people argue about it. So the conclusion is, Xperia Z2 Tablet use IPS because IPS is a TFT.

  • It is TFT pannel. Even on Sony official website says so. There's no argue about that.

  • It's IPS Panel Not TFT

  • Yes you can but touchscreen is very low sensitive

  • Not a little but shamefully the touchscreen is annoying. Even worse than not between the competitive tablets but between the cheapest ones as I examined.

  • Touchscreen a little bit low sensitive

  • Yes, the LTE version is capable of making phone calls.

  • can i make a call or not?

  • you can see the difference because its pixel count is less !!!!!!!!!!

  • hamza Doesn't have much difference in specs as compared to tablet z I have tablet z and it works perfect. Its going to be cheaper than this one but provide nearly the same functionality.

  • dont go for z ultra... that's one thing

  • Does it support usb on-the-go?

  • Please can u suggest should i go for xperia z ultra or z2 tablet please it'll be very grateful

  • Is there a shatterproof screen or no more?

  • Hi infrared option is not there in z2?

  • Good tablet, but if the internal memory is 64GB, it'll be much better.

  • in cre di ble

  • it's IPS LCD not TFT. please change

  • Quanity that y is 9.0 design different from the rest of the smart phone , water proof which i put my Z in my shower to listen music when i wear my smart watch, Sony make my house like tony stark..

  • very much right

  • its a plasma tv how come GSM arena is giving 9.1 for the design insane

  • mr sadhu, samsung specs is ggod but has no quality, all plastic and color is vanishing

  • the bezel the screen and that size is a kidding

  • Resolution just 224.No flash.Nothing special in it.Galaxy Note 10.1 EDITION 2014 is much much better.Battery is also a poor 6000.Design 7/10,features 5/10,performance 8/10.

  • Hi all Does anyone know which version of LTE coming to the T-Mobile (US)?

  • WHAT!! REALLY NO FLASH AGAIN? take pictures and video without flash. WHY? Co$t us much as 46 inch tv with very short low battery life and no flash. [take more my money put cwel flash.]

  • I think GSM arena got it wrong the Z2 got an IPS display and no antishatter film. For most people a higher than full HD rez doesn't make any sense on a 10 inch form factor. You can't se the difference. The important thing here is the quality of the display, contrast, Black level etc. Higher rez displays use more battery which you need to compensate for by bulking up your device.

  • Specs are awesome, the only thing i don't like is the position of the camera at the back, why not place it on the middle since it is 10.1. But overall this tablet is awesome.

  • Maybe because of the smaller battery? I don't care. I'm still liking it.

  • It has a Triluminus x reality display

  • Can't make calls. Only data.

  • I like Sony's design... It square and simple... But their service center in Indonesia is very disappointing...

  • Not bad on the specs, should of come with a flash on this model. AB is still 800, as AC is 801. Sony might surprise us next year, with the new Z3 & Z3 Tablet...

  • Still 1920x1200 screen? Oh come on, Samsung already has 2560x1600 on Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and Galaxy Pro series. Why lag behind, Sony?

  • I thinks the bezels are for functionality. yeah it looks big but compare them to ipad 1 and 2 i think they have big bezels too.

  • Biggest bezels in a tablet ever besides the under $200 ones, so yeah another example of Sony's remarkableness: big bezels.

  • Why it's APQ8074+MSM8974AB? Maybe it's APQ8074 for wifi and MSM8974AB for lte version? Why would they put MSM8974AB with LTE support to wifi version and APQ8074 without modem to LTE version?

  • Its a data sim.

  • have you read Micro sim.... it means it can make calls.... :)

  • it make phone calls ?

  • Still no flash
