Vodafone Smart X9 - User Reviews

  • An absolutely amazing phone, and still in mint condition despite having dropped it three times, once at Munich airport on a hard floor. Good memory, great hardware, ample storage, best phone I've owned as it's powerful, but without killing the battery in short time, or getting so hot it burns. The only issue I have is that Vodafone have left it on Android 8.1, we should expect at least one update to either version 9 or even 10 for such a capable phone, not just being left behind. I suspect it sold so well in such a short time that it was available that Vodafone panicked and dropped it. Which might explain why they went from an octacore phone with such great specs, 1080p, and USB C, to two phones with quad cores, 720p, and micro USB connections. A shame they took a step back for a similar cost even if their 'new' phones have Android 9.

  • This phone is great. It has a bigger screen yet feels comfortable and I can use it one handed. The battery lasts a full day, at least up to 9pm for me, often later. The phone has enough storage and the screen resolution is very good making it easy to use in sunlight and for reading books. It has NFC for payments. The only thing it lacks for me is waterproofing. Unlocking it was easy and there was little Voda bloatware.

  • I have had this phone for 7 months and I am very satisfied with all of the specs and reselution and it is definitely a bargain for this great phone

  • Thank you for your opinion, it is very enlightening and it will help me.

  • I have this phone, and I'm very satisfied with it. For under £100 it's pretty nice, if you can find it. (Vodafone's own site is probably the best bet.) It's silly to compare it directly with phones costing two or three times as much, as they're simply in different markets. As an all-round package that gets through a day with a decent amount of battery to spare, charges reasonably fast, is completely fine for casual and moderate games, has a really nice screen (again, for the price) and is pretty responsive, I think I made a decent choice. Even has a magnetometer, which the Moto G6 (at least the UK model) apparently doesn't. Couldn't do without that for using Google Maps on foot. I'm happy with mine.

  • Then what do you want? a 5.0 inch screen? A 4 inch screen? Make up your mind.

  • 5.2" 16:9. This phone is way too big for me.

  • Whta's your preference? A 5.7" 18:9 screen has the same width as a 5.2" 16:9 screen.

  • This phone does feel quite big for my liking

  • Yup.. Very clever :)

  • I was using Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, best budget phone in history. I was waiting for another legend. After 3 generations there it is... Vodafone Smart X9. Best value for money. €150:):):)!!!!! Love it!!!

  • Do you even know whether pie is any good or do you think it makes yourself sound clever and knowledgeable

  • Just got its update around 1gb don't know whether it's called anything

  • Lol this phone has face unlock

  • this model dont have a radio.

  • Sounds legit

  • my appreciation and i ask about your company of vodafone please may i get mobile phone from your company i like Vodafone smart X9 according to your price A'm able to pay,,,,, A'm come from African- Tanzania (Dodoma)

  • I'm pretty sure it has to get the security updates. . Surely.. I mean the Nokia 1 even received it..

  • I have this phone and can say its a very good phone. I came from Moto g3 and am impressed by the upgrade and the battery lasts very long due to the newer software and bigger size. I prefer motorola software because of their extra features but this is just fine too. It's like a newer and bigger version of it. It's cheaper than the moto g6 and uses the same processor. It's quite fast in my opinion but obviously not flagship speed. I don't think this will get any updates.

  • Not unless if your phone was Android One. But almost every phone makers don't update their phone, they will just wait until your Android version will be old and let you purchase again another phone with the latest version. That's how they run their businesses.

  • Look in to Android One branded phones. 2 years of feature updates and 3 years of security updates. I have a Nokia 6.1 (TA-1050) and it has Pie already.

  • hopefully we will see pie on this soon, am i right in thinking smartphones should be updated for 2 years after release?

  • Pay as you go

  • What is that payg thing you're talking about? I never heard it.

  • It's just perfect for the price. I can only recommend!

  • Lol..I remember them..years ago

  • Does it come with a top up swipe card in the uk?

  • Well, thanks for the answer, I didnt know that Li-Po batteries exist :D

  • The battery life is excellent as it is using lithium polymer and not lithium ion, and it is a well balanced phone with lots of features that's probably about as bullet proof as the old smart series was. Having eight cores running at 1.8 GHz makes a lot of difference, plus it doesn't overheat like some of the flagships. As for it being aimed at old people, that's complete rubbish. It's aimed at people who realise a top end phone is a liability that will be out of date in no time. Also if you get it on PAYG Vodafone will unlock it for you after thirty days then you can run off to any carrier you like. Considering I got it for £100 plus a £10 top up and will be moving it onto my Three £17 a month unlimited data account I'd call that a bargain.

  • How is the audio quality through the headphone jack? Good volume?

  • Brought this phone today, and i'm liking it... Have a nice camera, screen quality is very good, no lags in gaming and worth every coin you spent.

  • Hello. Any experience with battery life?

  • Amazing phone for the money..nice screen..nice camera.. smooth and snappy..GPS quick..oh and I'm not old like another reviewer suggested this phone targets..hey is you want to pay 500+ pound on a smartphone then go for it..I'm sure it can do much more like fly you around in the sku

  • Is it on eBay? cos I cant find it someone help

  • Do you think if there will be any chance of unlocking the bootloader of this device?

  • Is there any plan to launch it in India

  • had this phone a couple weeks cost £100 its amazing fast doesnt get hot like nearly every other phone I've had camera is amazing!!! and battery lasts ages, well worth every penny, i got a voxi sim which is like giffgaff but better.

  • I don't like Vodafone's line of smartphones but the X9 changed my mind instantly, seriously, alot of effort put into making these phones, their choice of specs, features and price point is mindblowing.

  • What a bargain!!

  • I'm surprised at how much this costs! Wow!

  • Cheapest phone with USB type C and NFC only € 110 !!!

  • If this phone had a variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, with a 4000 mAh batery I would just pop off to the store straight away to get it !

  • Have had this phone for 2 weeks now, absolutely love it. Got it for 110 euros! :)

  • Well i am surprised 110 euros for a nice looking phone with a very decent specs. J4 prime cost 150 euros and have much worse specs than this phone good job.

  • A carrier most probably getting a chinese manafacurer to make them a phone for cheap so they can target these phones to old people that need a phone but don't need a phone with extras. Perfect tbh, They are selling contracts not phones at this point.
