Xiaomi Mi Play - User Reviews

  • My miplay os is oreo why??

  • Don't look at the battery only..you should know the gpu use play role in the battery draining also.

  • Got my mi play updated with miui 11.

  • Whatever Bluetooth device I connect to the phone, the sound stuttering. Can anyone help with that?i suppose firmware of Bluetooth software needs update

  • Charging : Battery charging 10W No fast charging? Between Mi Play & Redmi 6 Pro, which one should i choose?

  • it's not hybrid. it have 2 slots for nano sims and dedicated slot for micro sd. and it have 6gb/128gb version.

  • Hi yes

  • The current stable version is Android 8.Maybe unlock the bootloader and use unofficial ROMs can use Android 9 on the phone.

  • Does mi play have gorilla glass protection?

  • My mi play have android 8.1 oreo. Why?

  • i need the FCC code any have it?

  • It supports 4G, see details

  • I got mine for 103 euros (inc shipping and insurance of delivery)!!! Bought from Gearbest and found a coupon to reduce the price. For my needs this phonne should be perfect. A shame it lacks the 4G and 5G support but would you really expect that for a low budget phone?

  • It is not 9.0 android...8.1 SO android...

  • It's Android 8.1 in my new bought cell, not 9.0, as it's shown in specifications here...maybe it's upgradable to pie, don't know... share you experience to me guys.

  • most important its notchless but mi play have waterdrop notch xiaomi need to make new version.... mi play2 with helio p65 & 48Mp cam

  • nokia 6.1(4/32) VS mi play(4/64) both have equal price but look at to the differnce usb type c, 16Mp rear, bluetooth 5, CGG3 screen, SD630, aluminium body, Nfc, 2160p@30fps

  • Hello ... The fingerprint in mi play went missing in the lock screen section. What can possibly happened to the phone?

  • Okay hmm that's not good 😮. I usually keep phone in hand or in front pockets... Thanks for the heads up

  • Have any one touch problem on the edges? when i use the keyboard it work a little late on edges key

  • The phone was in my back pocket and after some leaning ups and standing ups I noteiced that the phone is a little bended and gains a concave like shape.

  • Why is it bending?

  • But, pay attention to the bending!!! I said I bought it about one week ago and after one week of usage, phone is now a little bended in my back pocket :(

  • Okay thanks. I ordered it but wasn't sure of the specs as I read elsewhere it was 12+12 setup.

  • when get Android pie this phone 🙄

  • I think the back camera is 12+2 MP. Today, i learned that xiaomi.eu does not support this phone because of MTK processor. This is bad news for the people who loves to use different roms.

  • What is the camera setup on the back? 12mp+2mp or 12mp+12mp?

  • I bought one week ago. I am very satisfied with it. The only missing part is IR blaster. Battery is enough for one day but it will not be for 2 days.

  • That slot where I'll insert the ear phone, is it on top of the phone or under?

  • Why is this phone not promoted much?? It's actually cheaper than the Redmi 7 and Realme 3 and the best part is it comes with 64GB storage and 4 GB RAM. It even has Full HD Display. I had a strict budget of RM500 (around US$120) and bought the Meizu M6 Note as I could not find any other phone within my budget that has Full HD Display and 64GB storage. Only recently I discovered this phone and maybe I should have went for this instead.

  • I bought this phone 2 months ago and was unexpectedly satisfied.

  • No Ir

  • Does the mi play xiaomi phone have an infrared feature?

  • True, also the Realme 3 has a bigger battery at 4230mah, this only has a paltry 3000mah even if some say xiaomi has done great battery optimization on this.

  • The global version is MIUI 10 with Oreo 8.1.

  • I think this phone is live up it's name 'Play'. Pretty good playing game experience for cheap phone maybe because Mi give you PowerVR GPU after all.

  • the light at the bottom left

  • Go for Realme 3 instead. This phone only has a p35 chip and has the same price with the Realme 3 which has a p60 chip.

  • i got issue on wifi connection has anyone got the same issue

  • i've already got the global version

  • go for redmi note 5 pro for price vs result comparing to this mi play, or pocophone for a better price vs result, mi a2 actually a good one too for indonesia user since their sole official distributor has a cleaning sale for a2 which made the price drop till ard 120euro i guess..

  • Ok - owner of Mi Play for 4 weeks now, so actual hands on experience with the phone (seemingly a rarity here). Don't listen to the battery naysayers. Xiaomi have done a great job optimizing the battery so I can go to bed with full charge, have the radio playing all night (9 hours) through the speaker and still have enough charge for normal use right through the next day. Charging isn't especially fast but it does depend on the charger used. For the processor naysayers, I have experienced no significant lag, there may be the occasional hang up when typing in WhatsApp but this could well be to do with that app's architecture rather than the phone. Other than that the Mi Play feels nippy bad fluid. The speaker, while only mono, is loud and deep, best I've yet experienced on a phone in this price range. I'm on MIUI Global 10.2 and have received 2 updates so far so update support seems swift. Camera is sharp and responds quickly. Fingerprint scanner is more accurate than my old Huawei p10 but is slightly slower, though not to the point of annoyance. Phone feels light and a little cheap, but that's because...it is. Back panel is attractive though a total scratch and print magnet. There is a notification light for those wondering, it is located in the chin of the phone - single colour. Screen is bright and crisp, water drop notch is a plus! Honestly, I am happy with my purchase and got this phone at £116 which is a steal. I would recommend this phone for those who use their phone as a media device (movies and music). It runs PUBG and PS Portable emulators no problem.

  • ok, it seems like it arrives with 8.1 MIUI10

  • and what OS version is it using? 8(10), 9(11), ONE? does anyone know?

  • does the global version have MIUI os or Android one ?

  • they alredy did

  • helio p35 its something between sd625 & sd630 so don't waste your money just go for redmi note 5 ai with sd636 xiaomi release mi play With multi-month Internet packages, nothing new at all with weak battery go for redmi note 5 ai or redmi 7 note 5 ai >> 4gb/64gb >> 129$ redmi 7>> 3gb/32gb>> 125$

  • where is it located? because i have seen an review about this phone, and a guy said that it does not have notification light

  • Yeh

  • Does this phone have notification light, and where is it if it has it?

  • mobil use to play must focuse batttry cpu power and consume of battry life very good GPU 4G -5G senseor Or will be waste of mony and name (xxxxxxplay)

  • if you are looking for small size phone there is nothing better in this price (140euro)

  • @Baxter, Global version is rolling out now.

  • Remember screen size to battery size ratio also matters! :)

  • Yeah it sucks doesn't it? 3000mah does not cut it anymore. That's why I like realme the 4230mah is really an advantage over these other phones.

  • When will Xiaomi release the global version of the Xiaomi Mi Play?

  • Actually better than honor Play 8A, smaller screen nearly same battery & it actually has a FP sensor, more RAM & bigger ROM to boot! :D

  • yes, they put 4000mAh batteries already years ago in their cheapest phones. I also don't understand why they don't do it anymore, it's such an obvious advantage compared to others, not to mention a 5000 battery..

  • why xiaomi carrying Mediatek processor in this new release Mi Play? It's clearly obvious, that Xiaomi now will play a high standard smartphone and gain more profits for Mi edition. The other phone has been taken care of by Redmi. Clever idea.

  • I dunno why Xiaomi has been putting out 3000mah batteries on their phones, 4000mah should be the standard.

  • it seems that this phone has no MIUI ! ! !

  • How long can the battery be used? It would have been better to mention the time.

  • internal ; 4/6 GB RAM _ 64/128 GB ROM

  • hey guys. can someone telle how is batterylife? i won a f1 but want to buy mi play as secondary phone. but battery is important for me. and the size of the phone as this one and mi8 se are only small ones right now

  • helio p35 octa core 8×2.3Ghz cortex A53

  • weak, redmi note 5 AI is still good for gaming, battery is weak.. no for this mi play, waste money

  • Is this phone going to be sold in europe as a global version or will it olny be the note 7?

  • where is nfc?

  • Not at all. Honor Play is more like Pocophone F1. Mi Play is entry level. Helio P35 will be used on Honor 8A... It's a about Snapdragon 626 level...

  • Direct competing with Honor Play series I believe.

  • This phone looks good but I don't like the small battery they gave this new series of Play. The battery should be on top of the battery performance chart. Next time in Mi Play 2 please give us 4500 mAh battery and snapdragon 710 or much Powerful Chipset and 6'4 inches display. Thank you.

  • My Oppo A3 has a better screen thanks Mike A2 I see a review about Mi Play, it seems that's screen and cameras are the good points

  • It's entry level...about the same as SD626 but with 12nm and better ISP, lpddr4x (and unused bluetooth 5.0) So it won't

  • I hear or read is that snapdragon chip set will produce better "screen display" over the Mediatek and crossway on gaming. I have the note 6 pro and impresst over the screen and over all use in miui 9.6.8.0 out of box for me only system app is updated. I do not regret the buy after see the specs on this "top spec" serie

  • could it run nba 2k19 with a maximum graphics?

  • Well Poco was a miracle of 2018 but we can expect in 2019 plenty of phones with awesome specs and lowest possible price.

  • lol pocophone f1 is the miracle, after all you can only have a miracle once a year :p

  • i thought it will be something similar to black shark not this midranger.

  • Hmmm... Not CPU power (it's "only" cortex A53)...but it's enough to province fluent experience Not GPU power Maybe photo quality...dual ISP of P35 can do the job if Xiaomi spend money on camera. That can be a good move. A cheap device with decent camera can interesse people more than the GPU...most customers aren't gamers.

  • Well its niot a miracle but for its price is better than any phone samsung made under 250 euros past year.

  • And it destroys "Mi" flagship reputation after Mi Max and Mi 8 Lite. As we have known is Redmi series for low and mid class. Mi series is for flagship (Mi x series and Mi Mix x series). Terrible name and confusing.

  • If you want a phone for gaming the only cheap good one is honor play

  • Agreed.

  • I'm agree on some point...this is 626 level on term of CPU... As I shortly test PowerVr GE8320 on Helio P22, it is less Powerfull than T880mp2/G71mp2/Adreno 506. So it's not a gaming machine. The positive compared to SD625 - 12nm - bluetooth 5.0 - lpddr4x (for powersaving, not bandwidth) - dual-volte Mi Play itself is for chinese market and come with 10go of cloud storage (I don't know the Price)

  • the phone has nothing interesting, the chip is in par with sd625, 200$!!!!!! you can get a phone with sd636 at less than 180-170$ the only positive point in this phone is its size for those who love small sized phone.

  • its barely good for gaming i should say,it benchmarked about 80k which only 10k higher than sd 625, plus mediatek gpu are not well known is gaming section, for gaming at least sd 636

  • No IR blaster, No Dedicated SD card Slot, No Big battery, why I'm gonna buy it? To play as a chu chu toy? Moreover it has Mediatek Processor, I'm done with Xiaomi....

  • But why doesn't have IC port?

  • This is a phablet under every definition of the word. Below 140mm is still not a phone (or rather a very large one) Historically phones were around the 12x6cm mark. That is 72 square cm in profile. Any bigger than that and it is big. Beyond the 100 (cm squared) mark it is a phablet. This phone is a phablet. All phones are phablets. Phones are dead for some years now. People trpurned into mini tablets and soon they will turn into foldable phone/tablets.

  • Agreed 100%. Very rare phones these days that are sized under 150 mm. Really need such pocketable phones.

  • Good for gaming! I guess!

  • dnt under estimate mediatek it depends on gpu power vr not bad than MALI gpu....

  • I like very much Mediatek, so I'm not a troll... I offer a Redmi 6 with Helio P22. The GPU on it is the same PowerVR GE8320. Frequencies are close : 650Mhz vs 680Mhz (as announced on Mediatek's official website) It's ok on 720p... I run offscreen tests on Gfxbench to compare with an old mt6752 with MaliT760mp2 on the same Fullhd resolution...both are close, T760mp2 was even a little better. It's strange, but GPU on this P35 is weaker than Mali T880mp2 on Helio P20 or Mali G71mp2 on Helio P23...at least until frequencie reachs 800mhz (it could be ok on 12nm) This P35 seems to be an overclocked P22 with Fullhd support...it's like mt6750 and mt6750T. Not a gaming soc... A cheap soc with good 12nm process, good camera management, energy saving lpddr4x support, bluetooth 5.0...but not top CPU ans GPU. Leaked Antutu's score is 86352pts 3D part of Antutu's is 13541pts...on P23 with G71mp2, it is around 16000 Helio P90 with PowerVR GM9446 970mhz with 4 clusters, it should perform better than Mali solution

  • Finally into PoweVR, thats great, sure this one rocks, than predecessors with Mali's

  • mediatek??..... that's big nope

  • Great phone for the price , thing is thé size.m!! dies someone know if this phone Will have a global version?????

  • the best thing is the size >>> under 150 mm

  • there is nothing to like in this phone...

  • But pretty much every company has a phone that cost more than 100 bucks and use Micro USB lol

  • I think Xiaomi would be rename it "Redmi 7 Pro" on global market as soon as January 2019.Wait n see...

  • wow its 170 euro only bro

  • Thanks to Micro USB, the sales are going to dwindle on this phone. There should be no phone over $100 using Micro USB anymore

  • name is play and have 3000mah batery ??? you play with him in the socket?? no good =))
