BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 - User Reviews

  • clever you!

  • The style will not work in UK so not in my collection a shame as it looked good in photos.

  • do you have blackberry style 9670

  • Useless concept.

  • i do not use it now, it's slow compared to a Q10 and is 2G only, but i keep it for my collection of old Blackberry phones,

  • Are you still using it? How is its overall performance, especially battery backup? Is it a slow phone?

  • I use this phone since a year..its awesome

  • Hii dis mobile support whatsapp from this year tell me plz friends I want take new mobile so plz guide me

  • All Blackberry phones with the BlackBerry OS require BlackBerry Data plan for handling e-mail and maps, i.e. anything requiring data. Otherwise you are limited to wifi.

  • I am a collector of mobile phones, a new pearl flip 8220 was on offer at a supplier of second hand phones, I visit many and some times new old stock phones arrive, but it is becoming harder to find certain new phones pre 2010.

  • Where did you get a new set of this model? I am looking for one, but new ones are not available, only re-furbished ones on eBay.

  • HI Im using blackberry pearl 8220, I read your comment. My ph. is 9990950900

  • Did you get refund or replacement?

  • I bought it at ebay so i had bad experience with its ringtone because ringtone was not working sometime i think due to poor speed of this mobile only + point is its look and name

  • Just remembered about this phone. One of the worst phone I have ever had the experience to use. Awful lag of keyboard is the one I can remember.

  • Hi everyone..i bought this phone week ago.. Everything Is working great except apps...i can't download single app it's always give message..i don't know what the prb is.. If anyone have any experience regarding this issue plz help... Thanks in advance...

  • Ebay.in

  • I liked this phone a lot and used it a lot. The main reason because I switched it it was a lack of GPS and navigation. And I like flip phones a lot because they are small but fit big screen and physical keyboard. Sadly they do not make such type any more.

  • Dear Rio. Thanks for the info. I'm also a die hard blackberry fan, because of it's ecosystem. sad It is not many of ours living this day. Anyways I'd like to ask you whether do you have to use the Blackberry internet plan for your pearl or you are able to use any internet plan. After rolling out all these updates, i'm a bit unsure whether the older ones have been improved or not. Before buying this pearl, I just wanted to be double sure of it's capabilities. MAny thanks, Ayan

  • I'm a blackberry user and now I want to try blackberry pearl 8220 model, I just wanted to know that will the same model support whatsapp??

  • I have been using it for 7 years and it still works

  • So far I've only managed to get one ringtone for calls, It won't seem to let me choose another one for texts. I've had this phone for a week now and twice I've been tempted to sent it back. I found it difficult to move my favourite icons to the home screen but managed it eventually. You'd think simple words like 'move' or 'switch' would be what's needed but it turned out to be fiddling around with 'hide' did the trick. MY

  • Restart your phone,Update your phone using computer software .With computer software check if the application is installed. What you mean with bluetooth not working? with headset or transfering info to other phone or computer? if headset check parameters again put your phone bluetooth properties to discoverable. Also play with security level from hi to low if available in your phone bluetooth options. hope this help.

  • guys any one can help me.. my unit was not working for bluetooth i dnt know why... i wish someone can hel me on my problem...

  • i have some problems with this fone - when i started to use ym or bbm , it cannot be used, the response always : service not able for this handled - and when i browsed , i cannot be connected the response Do u guys have the answers??? Need your help

  • i've been using this phone for 2 and a half years and i still have it without a scratch :D , but being seriuos the negative points of this phone are: - it's slow, even that it has 128MB of memory but i think the processor can't handle very well the 4.6 OS - The GSM/GPRS/EDGE reception is weaker then others blackberries like the 8520 or even the 81xx series. - the bluethooth just stopped working without any reason, it just didn't turn on anymore. - battery life should have been better. of course the are good parts: - The desing it's just perfect, i love it!. - the build quality is really good, like i said before in 2 + 1/2 years it haven't had a scratch. - the keyboard is suretype but it's bigger than the 81xx pearl series so the keys are the perfect size. - The camera quality is fine but not the best. - The speaker volume is very good for calls and for ringtones - I've never had problems with the trackball So in conclution RIM sacrifice performance for desing without putting away buitlt quality and making a good phone for the casual user who wants a good looking blackberry.

  • i havehad this phone now for almost two years, my only complaint ever is when I have texted to much over a long period of time without turning off the phone, it comes up with an error code and will not aloow me to text and freezes, but i just turn it off and back on and its good to go, sometimes a pretty lengthy load up time, which worries me if i were ever in an emergency, but the style feel and 90% of the time dependabily is great! I really like this phone! i am switching to more of a texting phone and less business phone, because i amnot using this phone to its fullest ability! I would recommend this phone to anybody interested in a sleek styled emailing and not bad camera phone ;)

  • this is truly very good phone, i had it for a 6 months. only had some SW problems but nothing major!

  • i have problem, i updated software, and now i dont have clock on my secondary display, i canot see who is caling me, until i open phone. how can i fix this

  • does the phone have gtalk/yahoo chat as well? cause a friend of mine had an old blackberry and that didnt have option to download anything apart from a windows messenger (and bbm of course since he had d data plan activated). also, hows the phone in use, hanging and processing. compatible with other apps like whatapp/nimbuzz etc. ?

  • i luv this phone

  • great phone, best keyboard layout in my opinion with two letters on each key, good for people with large fingers. no butt dialing because its flip, only one fatal flaw is that almost all 8220's start to have sim card errors after about a year and application errors, two of my friends have the same phone and both started to bugg out after about a year. mine just got the fatal app error 805 or whatever and now all my notes and texts and saved stuff are all toast, luckily blackberry's have a very good backup program (blackberry desktop)

  • Great phone. Have used several years. Battery just giving up.

  • ok listen up...if you use the bluetooth with your car...it will stop working...I had mine for 3 yrs and everything stopped working by itself...the key pad stinks and is not good @ navigating around the menu's. the only good thing is its small!

  • worst phone I've ever had

  • can't seem to find the navigation key on my mobile

  • This phone can use the application foursquare ??? please anyone answer, trims :)

  • I think this is a great phone.I'm getting one soon.

  • this fone is compatibale to the other blackberrys its just the keypad tht dosent suite the style the fone is just great it has all the features u need in a normall bb u got bbm windows live messenger emails at a click etc...

  • I still struggle with the keyboard--a "modified' qwerty that's hard to use. Biggest problem is that it regularly locks up. I added the QuickPull app, which presumably restarts the phone and kills the lock-ups, but it hasn't. I thought it was the perfect phone for me. Not so.

  • This is my second flip...I had to request a replacement twice...Everytime I tried to make a call it was either call failed or emergency calls only.I was a dam fool and bought another one 7 days ago, and it's the same problem...I know they know that the phone should have been recalled.

  • some one wants to sell me one shud i buy it

  • this is good iknow it cause i use it

  • this phone rel badddd

  • i think , you must download , the app at blackberyy web..

  • Nope. This phone does not have 3G function.

  • where i can found the appworld in this phone?

  • This was the worst investment i have ever made. Within the 1st 2 month of owning this phone the blue-tooth decided not to work anymore then more recently the phone took it upon itself to erase all my files from my memory card. To add to those the soft key buttons on the right and left side of the phone responds when they want and some of the keys on the keypad only respond sometime when i apply extreme pressure. This is my first blackberry and although it was my first and worst experience with the brand i think the brand is a very unique and convenient and at present i am looking for a replacement with the bb brand; does anyone have any suggestions. O to sum it all up don't buy this phone.

  • Does this phone have 3G capability?

  • yes it has bb messenger

  • yes, have blackberry messenger client, and can be upgraded to the v5.0 from blackberry app world.

  • got bbm in this phone?

  • are BB pearl flip 8220 has BlackBerry Messenger feature?

  • updating the software or handset wipe followed by software update tends to fix most problems

  • problems problems and problems

  • this is a good value phone with flip model and supported by blackberry OS

  • it was the worst phone i have ever owned. it gave alot problems!

  • i love this phone, very good flip phone and phone in general. No functionality problems, great with downloading and browsing and everything.

  • l l had nothing but problems with this phone blackberry should have done a recall on this pieace of junk.l will never owen another blackberry

  • update da phone

  • why don't you bring it back to the store that you buy?

  • this phone is bullshit keep on retarting..restarting..restarting..restarting every 5 minutes

  • email mail me at [email protected] thank you

  • Every time I take out a picture I am not getting the option to save it. Only when the picture comes out white or black. What do i have to do to resolve this problem?

  • I have owned my 8220 for 18 months and I have had little to no bother with it! Only thing I have had to do is upgrade the software twice! I use my phone heavily as an mp3 player, on the net and for the office functions on it as I buy a lot of stuff from Japan (i dont speak japanese, as I can barely speak english, Come on the Scot's!). I was goin to get the HTC rose but instead went for this and I am extremely happy with it though i am going to get the TORCh as it kicks ass!!! (did get the phone replaced once but thats what happens when you pour a beer over it!!!)

  • i plan to buy this phone, but after skimming through all the reviews - i am having second thoughts if to invest on it or not - what say? i'll be using BUS on it anyway-is it that bad people? :(

  • This phone is too expensive for a flip and is completely useless. I have had mine for 4 days and it is starting to get up my nerves. Blackberry made a poor choice to make a flip version for the pearl because it doesn't work.

  • If you want a phone with word do not get this phone. Even the nokia e63 and e71 have word and they are less expensive, much less!!

  • Well i bought this phone because looks nice when is closed, the first day of use i just hate it because this phone is like crap..i only have this phone one day to know how much suck it

  • Closed: nice Opened: strange..

  • This is the worst telephone, battery descharged, everithing blocked, if you disk 05 numbers blocked, bad telephone

  • please!!!! i would like to trade in this phone for a smarter one pretty but disapointing, come on blackberry live up and make a better flip phone

  • i brought this phone before 4months bluetooth is not working keypad is not working properly so i hate this phone

  • BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, unfortunately is a total failure. Within 6 months of use I found it was a wasted investment. Phone crashes most times, battery barely retains charge and quite slow in operations. This phone could dent image of RESEARCH IN MOTION.

  • in my ranch exist Pearl Flip 8220 pink and you page color black all Viva mexico

  • I love flip phones, at first it seemed it would be a good phone, but i was wrong. It's a very bad phone. Over 6 month use, bluetooth don't work anymore, key response is delayed most of the time and the phone crashes 1 or 2 times every day. Bad, very bad Phone... bye bye 8220

  • i am sorry but this 8220 flip is the worst phone ive ever had, blutooth nolonger works,no camera, slow like a turtle with cramps!! cant even download appworld on it.refund please?????.....got a 8520 now.....works great.

  • If you prefer flip phone this is a good phone for the price.

  • had this phone for 18 months - far too long. bluetooth now not working, phone crashes, key response is as slow as a wet week. blackberry 8110 my previous phone - far superior. leave this alone

  • I plan to buy this phone soon, because I just need the phone that simple with the program of document editor (word, excel, powerpoint, PDF). So, do I need to buy or not? or which phone you recommended? Thanks

  • hello friend the late apology is not the problem the software or any applications or much less what type of virus you have to do is taken to a particular technical service and changing the antenna that is conctada bluthoo tla card with antenna is this principal desglozable change you can easily remove and i hope your answers to my good comments i am from peru lima anova we work to serve to users of gsm arena. com

  • yar even my bluetooth is bnt working i think dis phone is crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you can get a lot of themes, just get bb application world, and as for the previous comment, when you already have application world, there are no limitations to what this phone can do. right now i'm using bb messenger, yahoo mail, facebook, and friendster, simultaneously while receiving and sending sms. again, there are no limitations, if you just know how to use it. and if a nokia 1110 is the only thing you know how to use, i don't think you deserve a bb. will never change to any brand ever!!!

  • what is the theme in the pic? mine is a rogers and i dont have themes. does anyone know???

  • I bought my bb 8220 3months ago to differeciate it from my friends who uses BB. the bluetooth stopped working last nite . can someone help to fix it. i have removed the battery several times

  • The BB is not the thing i hope it just a luxury nokia 1110 it has a few applications is the first non nokia phone that i buy in 10 years and the last one, DONT BUY IT, IT HAS A LOT OF LIMITATIONS!!!

  • ahhh! so true! i cant get the bluetooth to work either, well my battery doesnt give that trouble bt mein dt sucks!

  • This phone is just name,BB, the batt is the worst I have ever seen, has huge bluetooth problems, the camera starts by itself. I hate it. It was a huge disapointment,my first BB. I'm changing to a nokia or sony,NOW!

  • should i buy it or no ?!?!

  • This fone sucks!!!! my bluetooth has failed, the battery dies extremely fast.major regrets

  • Exactly the same thing has happened to me - can't enable Bluetooth anymore. This and the battery drains super fast. It even drains with the device turned off. I am going to switch to an Android.

  • Hello Everybody. I own this mobile and the others, my BLUETOOTH too has failed. It seems there is a hardware problem fro sure.Redington is not providing me service and the repair costs are very high. Dont buy this phone.

  • Can I download microsoft outlook to keep track of appointments

  • Firstly i think you have never heard of any other company apart from RIM. HTC makes much better phones than black berry

  • wat abt the camera clarity & sound effect???

  • this phone is great! want to have this phone soon!

  • I love this phone! so easy to use, light, clear voice and blue tooth works great.

  • for a phone that was release in 2008 why no 3G?

  • The phone is actually ok. I enjoyed it, but it is now time to upgrade. I got a good use out of it. It's built tough. I dropped it on Marble floor on several occasions and nothing happened to it! It froze up sometimes, but only because you are supposed to reset the phone every so often in order for it to function normally.

  • Pls DONT Buy this. Bluetooth doesn't work. Major issue is : it gets shutdown every now and then. Problem arises after 1 yr of use. My BB pearl is 18 months old and I'm gonna throw this in thrash soon.

  • I love the phone

  • A very bad phone. Very unlike Blackberry. Have been using a curve without any problems however the Pearl Flip 8220 is a piece of #*&$. The phone keeps rebooting at random. Have tried everything possible. Upgraded the firmware too but the restarting problem persists...DO NOT BUY !!

  • Have had an 8220 for 12 months. yet another one that Bluetooth has failed. Cannot enable through menus. removing and installing battery does not fix. Upgrading or downgrading software operating software does not fix. Wiping the handheld through right clicking security options does not fix. The only fix it to send it back to the supplier. Mine came back but now the voice prompts don't work in the car. Looks like they cracked the board in it when they fixed the bluetooth because if you twist the phone in your hand like wringing out a towel, it works. I am sure they have to change the guts to fix the enable problem and they have busted whatever they did to fix the last probl;em. So that's six weeks without a phone now. Unlike Nokia that seems to have franchised repair centres everywhere, Blackberry don't have anything in place and you just have to wait for some third party repairer to get the parts it then fix your phone. i really hope Apple gets up and challenges blackberry with a proper business phone and I don't mean an IPhone.

  • Guys c'mon tell me I am going to buy this phone if it's cooool so far then I am going to buy it

  • I have an unlocked BB8220 flip ,I bought it through future bazaar.com .I am using this phone since last 2 months and it worked great. Well yesterday I tried to enable the Bluetooth but it did not enable with no error message whatsoever. I tried reset ,wiping off all application data ,switch off & battery removing and restarting but the Bluetooth simply does not enable anymore. the rest of the phone works great but this Bluetooth problem. I tried calling the toll free number at Redington customer care but it is busy. The software in the phone is also the latest till date(V4.6.0.236). When I go to "Manage Connections", Bluetooth has a red X. So I highlight it and click my ball and it greys out with a checkmark for a few seconds, then goes right back to having a red X with no message. When I go to "Set up Bluetooth" I tell it to either listen or search, both of which automatically sends me to "Enabling Bluetooth..." After a few seconds, that message simply goes away and the header remains on "Bluetooth: Disabled" with the rest of the screen blank white. Clicking options and going to "Enable Bluetooth" does nothing. No messages or error reports.Clicking on "Bluetooth Options" sends me to a blank white screen with a header saying "Bluetooth: Disabled". Going to options and clicking "Enable Bluetooth" does nothing (no error, no sign anything happened).I've tried reading these forums but I can't find anything like this. I tried pulling my battery out while the phone was on, and it did reboot and do that reloading thing. However bluetooth still gives me problems. please help!!!!!!!!!

  • it has everything that i need and is simple yet very useful, hats off to BlackBerry for creating an awesome fone, thanks guys

  • great features, excellent price, easy to use, love it

  • Its a great phone, user friendly and has strong signal, one of the best phone i ever had, highly recommended, trust me i've had this phone for a long time and it never gave me any problems at all!!!

  • Great phone, meets my expectations, I have owned it for 18 months. CPU is a bit underpowered for the 4.6 OS, and the early versions of this OS were slow. The phone is fast enough for moderate use if you update to at least OS 4.6.0.278 and have reasonable expectations of the phone. Makes a great nav system when paired with a Bluetooth GPS and Garmin Mobile. Pros: flip form factor, UMA calling over Wi-Fi, audio and video playback, wide variety of 3rd party apps available through App World, standard BB features. Cons: underpowered CPU, early OS versions were slow. Bottom line: buy it for the form factor and features, not for performance. Wait for the 95xx clamshell if you want a BB flip with snappy response.

  • hw is dis fone for $100(rs. 5000) ? considering all the cons. i am in love with it , but worried with restarting problem and lagging problem

  • This phone does not has a Wifi

  • This flip is a FLOP phone. The device cant run longer than 4 months. This is a circuit defect which is prevails in all the handset. The problems with this phone is that it goes on an indefinite reboot n boots only for a min longer. This cycle repeats till the battery is dried up. A strict No-No for a good looking short-lived smarty!

  • i love dis phone very simple and unique.....

  • I enjoy the phone and love the ability to play Pandora in my car. However, I have problems with Pandora disconnecting especially while driving and trying to stay hands free when Pandora requires to click back a couple of times to retry and turn off again. I hope this can be fixed. Great sound through speakerphone and through headphones provided. I'm thinking about getting a NOKIA 5230 but it does not have Pandora or Slacker.

  • i love this phone!!!

  • i really like this phone. i haven't seen this website before, i actually picked min up from gsmallover.com, but i think for my next phone i'll try this one out. i really like buying my phones online because then i don't have to pay full price or renew my contract. anways, this is a great phone, and these prices look really great. i only wish the phone had gps on it, but i guess i'll just have to invest in a garmin ;)

  • I can't remember exactly but I think that's a Java app error and you either have to delete the app you are tryin gto use or reload your back up file... Or if it's a white screen with 3 symbols and an error code, then you need to reload the entire OS. Check crackberry.com for more details.

  • how can i fix an error, 545

  • how the hack do I change my (sms) massege alert torns on the pearl flip 8220??? please help...

  • where can i find this handset here in dubai?

  • what does it mean when your bb says jvm error 545. please help me

  • the sister of thid device is 8210 by Verizon but i think 8210 has no wifi but GPS

  • You need to activate the Bluetooth service, pair the BB with the other device, and after you paired it, before sending a file from the other device select from the file manager menu: "Receive file via bluetooth" then send the file(s) from the other device.

  • all i gotta say is when u charge the phone all night, the battery life shortens, try waiting until its actually dead to charge it. When mine would die,i charged the phone for an hour and a half and it lasted me 3 days. The phone life only lasts as long as the user treats it right..i had this phone since it came out and it recently just crapped out on me.

  • Bluetooth chip fails just on 12 months. You will not be able to enable Bluetooth from handset. needs repair but basically cost of a new phone if out of warranty as it is one single PC board inside. Other software issues include clock not displaying date correctly on external screen in Digital Mode. Drops digits off date. Not a display problem but a software problem. Latest software is May 09 so no fix for it. Keypad locks randomly too. Another software problem. Cannot play video music unless flip is closed so useless as an in car music player unless playing MP3s then can close flip and music keeps playing.

  • Hey guys...its bluetooth not working for data transfer can any one tell me how can it works?can we download new themes for it and where can i found?thnx

  • Hey guys...i just wanted to ask how much does this phone cost in the United States and if the menu and settings are like the BB MINI CURVE....THnx in advance

  • The external display is weak, over all 7/10. Go ahead if you love design, operation is little different in India.

  • i have used 8220 for last 1 year , frankly saying about 8220, it is fantastic. so simple to use it.

  • natto: seriously, it is not worth buying it. but the phone is certainly irresistable.

  • It is really a perfect phone...

  • what do you guys think if there is no 3G and GPS. Its still worth buying?

  • where does this phone cost Rs 8500

  • well guys ! i found it very fantstic and easy going ,its very stylish and smart

  • i believe every bb phone is hot .. battery life on these phone is incredible. The 8220 is the hottest flip phone period and beats many other phones as well

  • I have had it for a year originality with rogers wireless in canada it was crap as the rogers software was a constant problem and there tech suport no better, I went and cracked my berry unlocked my set cleard it to empty memory and added in the rim software from the site for the unlocked model and now use it with att/ tmobile in the usa and not 1 problem. however as a previous user said it i slow and take a good while to start up and apps are slow, but all around a good phone. I have mine cracked so instead of 8gb max micro sd card ( as bberry says) I am using a 16gb micro sd card with no problems, my bberry is my mp3 player as well. beware interior screen cracks easily ( Id advise get a protective case ), ive replaced mine once, myself bought the screen off ebay.

  • d phone is d best i lov blackberrys so who doh like it stupid

  • really stylish but the apps sucks so boring to have around you...

  • cant stand blckberrys there just a waste of time compared to top end htc, nokia and all the rest....

  • u will come to know the reality after 3 months its a krap lots of problem with this phone

  • where in india can I find the phone at 8500?

  • the flip off course it has a better display as far as i now

  • which would you recommend this blackberry pearl flip or the blackberry pearl 8520?

  • online price of the flip is 12250 inr bigbazaar is it worth spending that? I like the style and wifi feature. hows the internal display is it cool?

  • cost is 8500 indian Rs

  • Just bought this phone today as a stop gap. I must say that physically it is a beautifully styled phone. Comfortable in the hand and easy to use. The screen is nice and bright with good colours. Granted, the processor is slow - so you will sometimes need to be patient. Otherwise, if you are looking for a beautiful looking flip phone that is adept at handling calls, texts, and emails, then this is your phone. I like it. I love it.

  • The e71 is more of a business texting phone. I had it and personally I loved it. The blackberry curve 8520 is more of a newer sleeker texting blackberry. There aren't as many free apps for blackberry, however their interface in flawless. The pearl flip on the other hand, I couldn't imagine two letters on one key for a flip phone. Texting on a flip phone is already complicated and does not need the complex pearl layout to help.

  • If i have 2 choose between bb8220 , bb8520 and nokia e71 which 1 wud b the best choice.. My main usage other than texting n callin r browsing, messengers, facebook and ofcos youtube.. Pls suggest me.. :)

  • please also add dual sim gsm gsm configuation to take the phone to the next generation

  • what is the cost of this mobile ? can anybody tell ..

  • i have this phone for a week and i really like it but honestly the battery is a problem and the phone gets slow continuosly when i use facebook, msn and any other apllication its a good phone for call and sms messages, anithyng beyond that its kind of a problem im planning to use it for at most 3 monts and then get a Bold then i give this one to my wife. i wish this comment help you to make the rigth choise =)

  • i meant to say song, tried playing a song and a game at the same time

  • the phone really is a great phone, the only issue i have is that the manufacturer seemed to really skimp on the ramdom access memory, making multitasking a real hastle, but once you plan to do one thng at a time, ur kool. tried playingasone while playinga game, wont be making that mistake again.

  • ok a final verdict for the phone please i 've got to go buy a phone today...please. a comment after this would b a decider for me.

  • The phone tends to freeze every now and then, it looks and feels great, sound is ok too but the freezing is a problem, maybe a software update will get rid of that bug, personally, I'm not really a nut about this phone - it's ok as a gift for someone not-too-special

  • battery sucks. but phone good

  • i sure hope so being the only flip on the bb line they should make another

  • did you ever find out how to do it properly?

  • Will RIM ever release the next generation of this form factor. Hopefully a Blackberry Pearl Flip 2 before they releaser Blackberry Bold 3.

  • this phone can use skype? or those internet phone?

  • I have had mine for almost one year. I bought the $7/month additional replacement warranty - thankfully. I have had to send it in for replacement twice now. It just stopped working and shutdown. The battery is crap. I charged it all night, removed it from the charger at 9am and by noon it was already dead. This is a brand new battery that came with the last replacement. I now have to use bluetooth headset for work, so I now have to have the phone plugged into the charger 24/7. Useless. I like the phone itself. Except for the above, and the fact that if you have to restart it, it takes at least 5 minutes to restart.

  • i have a first hand experience with the bb flip and it was hell. it ws giving me alot of problem and i send it in and got a bb8520

  • the bb flip is an exeptional phone nice features good battery life. too bad its so underestimated. i wish bb would build an upgrade for it .maybe with a track pad and full qwerty

  • charming, charming phone! i used it for almost 6 month and got into the temptation of BB Bold, which is a bit of a disappointment since the pearl flip turns out to have stronger battery power, and i've never did the battery-pull on it, now i do it almost religiously on my Bold :'( i missed this phone...

  • i wish so

  • is there gonna be a bb pearl flip with trackpad???

  • i have an almost new c901 ,cyber-shot sony ericsson for sale if you want to e-mail me at [email protected] if you are intrested.this phone came out in febuary of this year, but since i am a little hard of hrsring it is no loud anough for me.

  • Looking for Nokia

  • can someone please tell me how is youtube on this phone?

  • theyd have to sign up for a 4 yr contract, paying me 40/month to take this phone

  • I would pay any price for that phone if it will only had 3G! Blackberry phones are concentrated about internet functions so lack of 3g is like joke!

  • it is an amazing amazing phone. been using it for a month and have faced no problems whatsoever. wish the RAM on the phone was higher as its a bit slow at times but that is hardly a problem. music quality is as good as an iPod if not better and its an amazing phone for messaging. and looks so damn good, and doesent look like a chic phone at all, every1s going crazy after seeing my fone. just love it..

  • maybe you mean a memory card slot, if that's the case sorry about that but yes it does have a memory card slot and also a sim card slot........

  • what do you mean if it comes with a sim card slot, trick question or are you just plain stupid!

  • This phone gives alot of problems, the battery dies really fast. Don't like it much

  • on blackberry's website it states this phone can handle up to a 16gb micro sd not 8gb as above.

  • I really don't know why Black berry meddles with specs so much. One with track ball, one with touch, one with lower res, one has wi-fi, one has gps. I want a flip with High res, GPS and what do I do. Always with a great camera and Certainly hats off to build, my berry was thrown many times I only have to restart. Give all, great build at the best price.

  • I have been having this phone for a little over a month now, and I have to say that this is amazing! It's the perfect phone that camouflages the transition between normal phones and a smart phone. I can go on giving a list of all advantages this has, but that's already clear from the features. Instead, I'm giving my feedback: 1. The Half-QWERTY keypad takes time getting used to, whether you have used a full-QWERTY or a normal keypad before. But once you get used to it, you can type faster than ever. 2. The keys are nice and large, but take care of your screen. My screen had marks from the keypad. I suggest that you use a screen guard to stop your screen from getting scratched. 3. Adding of themes to the phone could have been made easier. I've searched all over and found very few themes for the phone to be good. Moreover, most of them need to be paid for. I've started developing my own themes with Plazmic. 4. Dust keeps getting accumulated on the lens in front, and you would require something like a cotton swab to get rid of it. It's not possible to get rid of the dust with just your fingers, or too thick a cloth. 5. Phone is EXTREMELY slow during a start-up. Mine takes about 10 minutes to start-up. But when you turn the power off, it goes into a sort of a standby mode, and turns on VERY quickly. I've given you my feedback and perception after switching over from a Nokia 7210. So yeah. They might be amateurish, but at least it'll give you an idea before buying it. This is a phone worth going for, if you haven't already owned a BlackBerry before. Still worth it, even if you have.

  • does this phone come with a sim card slot???

  • any phone will malfunction if you drop it.... blackberries are sturdy. i've had a couple, (not this model, Bold & curve) and they endure in a good way.

  • I find difficult to find the accesories like screen protector, silicon or rubber case to protect my phone. I got it just yesterday. Please tell me where can i find those accesories. Thanks for helping. Best Regards :)

  • it lags when you try to turn it on after an accidental drop.. mine died today R.I.P

  • avalble at the mobile store jalandhar model town. you are most welcom

  • Kernz, to set up the bbm on your phone you will need to get the pin number or email address of your friends and then save it onto their contact listing in your address book. then you go into bbm, click "add new contact" then click their name and they'll pop up in the bbm screen. As for finding out your pin # the easiest way is to open a new text message and write "mypin" and then hit the space key, blackberry's are programmed to autofill your pin # into a text when you write that hope it helps! cheers

  • Waste of money if that is true. I'm not sure what currency you're talkin about, but even the top cell phone models that are about to be released with 12mp cameras aren't even close to that price.

  • yup bro this is right.there is no radio in this mobile..Personally i have this phone,

  • no

  • no radio on phone, but multipul apps for that.

  • it doesnt have a radio..ıts true

  • hey every one....i've a question... in the especifications it says that doesn't have RADIO!!!!! please tell me if it's true or false.... :(

  • Hey how do you use BBM on this phone? I set up my name but thats it, how do I add ppl, and how do i know my pin?

  • i know a guy.

  • by lying.

  • thank you

  • Very good!!!

  • How did you manage that?

  • The Blackberry 8220 comes with about 100mb of ram, well mine does - I modified it!!!! I also replaced the crappy 2 megapixel camera with an expensive 11 megapixel camera. It all came up to around $2000!!!!

  • every blackberry has bbm.... only the really old ones dont

  • Can anyone tell me how much RAM do this phone own? I cant find it anywhere, and someone want to give me this smartphone as a present >_

  • This phone is the absolute WORST.... it keeps restarting ... every 3 hours... and then ever so often it would go into a "restarting phase" ... where it's stuck in start up mode for like 30 -45 minutes... and then finally get back to normal.... only for the same thing to happen a few minutes later... whats up with that???...

  • All modeles of Bkackberry have mesennger and others

  • all blackberry phones have blackberry messenger.

  • does this phone have bbm??

  • Hi Niranjan, Please let me know whether you have connected your Black berry 8220 Pearl Flip as Tethred Modem to connect to Internet in your Laptop /Desktop. Please let me know how to do it. I also own a BB flip and I need it really very bad to cut down my Internet bills with the other service as i am on the unlimited plan in BB 8220 with BSNL. Regards, Raaj rajasekar at hotmail com

  • It does has the bb messenger

  • I had the bb 8220, but now I own a 8120. With the bb flip I suggest to buy a plastic screen protector as some small scratches may appear on the lower side of the screen (were it touches the trackball "crater") a little bit too thick, and if you chat a lot it's annoying to open it every 2 minutes. Nevertheless keypad is bigger, trackball doesn't gets dirty that much or pushed while in the pockets, music player is easier to use and keypad lock isn't a problem. Depends how you are going to use your bb.

  • does this phone have bbm(black berry massenger)?plz answer

  • @tmobile.com BlackBerry Pearl also has UMA technology (Wi-Fi and Mobile Calling)

  • i love this phone and i wish i can have it NOW!

  • OK very good the suport that is

  • I work for Rogers and advising that people use Googlemaps on their phone is ludacris unless they have a 2 to 3 gig service they will be charged huge. With googlemaps you must load EVERY detail, if you want to change the view again you have to reload the entire picture. If people are looking for a expensive phone bill for looking up a tiny little map be my guest, but I don't think it's worth it. If you need to find your way that bad go buy a map. It will save you money in the long run if you don't have GPS. Also, GPS isn't free on the phone, you have to upload it to your system and then you have to pay $10 a month to your service provider (That's the Rogers cost anyways). Hope this helps keep your phone bill managable. CHEERS

  • Operating System update! Goto BlackBerry Site... lookup your Operating System version and sub-version. See if it is the latest. I had these issues with my Bold in Nov 2008... all resolved in minutes after an OS update. Cheers

  • There is a new application by BlackBerry called the Media Sync Manager... available for both Mac and Windows. Goto the Downloads section of the BlackBerry site, you will find it. happy uploading :D Oh please do lookup 'help' (the question mark icon in BB Operating System)if you want to read instructions on how to do things with it. It is very concise and explains it all also goes online to the site if you allow it to to fetch you an answer :)

  • Hey the restarts and the never ending clock appearing are all problems associated with the operating System... you need an upgrade. Which I downloaded in nov 2008 after I got my Bold. It was amazing after the first OD upgrade. best of luck... I'm buying one of these next week :D

  • Yeah its kinda weird I have one and its nice ill say but not 3g BUT.... on the back of the phone its says qualcomm 3g cdma I have the 8230 version

  • its a good phone, i believe it would have been better if there was 3g and a secondary call camera rest is good

  • hi i am using blckberry pearl flip with vodafone india providing blackberry service .its a wonderful exp using blackberry flip for more info abt blackberry flip in india visit vodafone india website

  • no 3g no secondary video caller cam they shouldve added those this is too expensive i saw it for the first time in scooter smiffs - head of my class music video feat. chris brown . i thought it was wondeful to see the first flip phone by black berry but later on i took a good look at it and the specifications of it and i got bored then i looked at the prize tag of it man i got pizzed lol .

  • on stand by; it lasts approximately 12 days :) woot

  • I love this phone so much..... other sources state that the phone does have 3G :) I'm so getting one of these ..tehe

  • That's a nice phone. Exactly what I need for my business and he got a girls's style!!!

  • Bb take 4ever to start . and 4get about just plug in and turn on if your battery drains . You have to let it charge 4 atleast and half and hour before it will be able to boot. If u want a real smartphone than go 4 symbian or win mobi . bb is expensive compared to other phones with the same functions .

  • i want this phone so much i can't breath!

  • Curve 8900 has an little Edge over Flip 8220. -Large screen size and pixel -large Storage memory -Processor -GPS Curve 8900 and Flip 8220 have same BlackBerry OS. All other Specs are same. But the price of Flip 8220 is cheaper than Curve 8900.

  • wat r u ppl toking abt!!!???dis is a relly nice phone.it has a little bit of a corporate vibe wit a hint fun

  • Flip Screen size 240 x 320 pixels, 2.3 inches. Same processor used in Flip like BlackBerry 8320 Curve etc. Atleast has 32-bit Intel XScale PXA272 416 MHz processor.

  • The size of Flip display is 240 x 320 pixels, 2.4 inches. Bold has an Edge over Flip. -Large screen size and pixel -3G (HSDPA) -large Storage memory -Processor -GPS Bold and Flip have same BlackBerry OS. But the price of Flip is much cheaper than Bold. All other Features are same.

  • i think that the phone is really cool az man. i mean it is actually think and also looks damn nice.

  • I think it is not a bad phone at all. Stylish flip and BlackBerry OS is good but not to compare with user friendly Symbian and WINMO Smartphones. Please answer about following questions: 1. How to send all contacts from my Samsung to Flip using Bluetooth option? 2. How to enable Flash sites in Web Browsing? 3. How to make E-mail accounts using GPRS/EDGE without BlackBerry service? It is expensive. 4. How to download applications in memory card?

  • looks fairly riddiculous and genericly boring. wont catch on if u ask me

  • I Bought the 8220 flip but the provider is telling me the number i have from the same provider will not work on it for blacberry service.Everything else works though.the chip and phone are ok.Can a phone number make a diference ?

  • The phone is a crap, no idea why black berry came out with this model

  • how long lasting does the battery when stand by??

  • I guess everyone has an opinion. This phone is certainly not the most sophisticated out there. But for me, I love the flips(no locking or unlocking keypads), it's small (which I like) and I'm not a phone freak, yet this has everything I need and then some. An Excellent phone!!!!!

  • Hohoho, that's verry funny that Blackberry made flip phone, Look like perfect PIECE OF CRAP. Good job BlackBerry Corp. keep it up.

  • this phone looks like crap

  • It's like a child with a new toy, better yet a baby and a candy that is hard to seperate. Have you ever tried taking candy from a child? If so you will eventually have to return it.

  • 1. whats the point of having a phone when its turned off? 2. get a bold and you would regret saying anything about the processor being sluggish. 3. if you want a qwerty keyboard what the h*** are you doing looking at a pearl? 4. the interface is one of the hottest ive seen in these class of phones 5. im pretty sure blackberries are smarter than any smartphone your thinking of

  • here is the thing i never was a fan of blackberry phones and this phone definitely dragged my thoughts of them to the 21st century. no longer will i think of all blackberrys as utter crap.....now i will think of them as the biggest piece of expensive faeces in existence. BBs have always been way too over priced in comparison to their usefulness and this phone is no exception. Speaking from a purely objective view point i don't think BBs should b regarded as smart phones, only more like a lil less dumb phone. Enough banter about my hatred for all things BB First issue if someone is running u down to kill u and this phone is off and u need to turn it on to call the police for help.....jus chuck it at ur attackers it will have alot more use then. The phone takes forever to boot like it took me a gud 5 mins between restarts The interface is ugly........not in comparison to normal phones but when u look at the class of phones this claims to be in u will understand my reasoning. Processor is sluggish, ball thingy feels like something taken out of a roll on bottle, menus are plain and make me feel like i want to throw up........but most importantly the key board......who at BB thought it was a gud idea to throw 2 letters on each key? This is not innovative its just retarded..........when i ask for a qwerty keyboard it means i want my keys to spell qwerty individually. All in all though this is not really worth a buy not to me atleast but im sure u BB fanboys will flock to it no matter what

  • can any one compare it with i phone

  • its only 310 euros dumb ass

  • i dont understand this price group is the mobile 310 eur or does each packed money symbol represents 310 eur

  • this is more or less a general statement... I amin the pusuit of looking for a phone that can facilitate me while at school eg internet etc...what would anyone prescribe??? [email protected]

  • good small and sweet phone!

  • It can hold from a 64mb card to a 16 gb card, so yes it can hold a 512 mb card, by the way 4 gb cards are only 10$

  • Why release a phone in 2008 that dosen't have 3G??? It has everything I want in a flip but I need the 3G.....

  • Nice little phone with all the big features!!

  • Hmm I have the same problem with the phone but, I updated it from the blackberry website

  • even i am experiencing the same problem shuts down and then restarts on its own. This happens atleast 10 to 15 times in a day. Any solution please let me know otherwise great phone.

  • dang, the battery life is really short. it is almost as twice as short as my phone that i have right now. however, i think it will be worth it

  • There isnt really a way to block just the SMS part, when you lend your phone to your friend. Only lock that is available is to lock the phone completly. If you dont trust your friend to check your messages i would recommend to delete all the Messages you have and call your provider and block Text messaging. so no incoming texts/outgoing will be made/received...

  • Can the messages look?? Like If i lend someone my phone and if they try to go in the messages will they need a code?? Can i but a code to look my messages??

  • I live in The Bahamas. And I wanna know before I buy this phone, can I go on the internet with this phone. and can it hold a 512mb memory card or only the 8g or a 16g? I really love this phone. Please help if u know just respond!! thanks!!

  • all in all is it worth bying do you think? I think so

  • I cant make calls i copy all my contacts to the contact menu from my sim card but when i try to make calls it automatically places a +1 which says the number is incorrect can some one help

  • Some questions for users: 1. Can this phone play .AVI files? 2. Can an mp3 file be used as message alert tone? 3. What's the internal screen diameter?I don't think it's 2.6" inches. Some site site say it's just around 2.2"..

  • i have a regular blackberry pearl and I was thinking of changing to this phone but I like the phones that look AND work good.... this one looks ugly! so I think i'm just going to stick with this one for now but first I need to know if this phone is worth the money or not???? does any one know?

  • looks kinda ugly and don't seem like a blackberry!

  • If you find one for $150 let me know, they are 299 in the UK.

  • Had this Unit for 2 months and had it replaced once due to shutting down during calls. Its run on an Enterprise server so used for business E-mail account and as a result 100+ mails a day, and the phone cannot cope. Its slow to load, scroll up and down when reading e-mails. Batttery life is good, but this phone does not have GPRS even though this site says it has. the phone is solid and the keyboard easy to use compared to the 8100 series, but the screen is small and not a clear. It does take a Micro card in the Right top side and should come with a 1GB Card. It uses the smallest usb CONNECTORS NOT AS FOUND ON THE 8100 or 8300 and Motorola units. The camera face gets dirty, especially if it been in your pocket. The better unit I think is the Javiin - but boes not look as good.

  • El celu est bueno, muy bien logrado. Cualquier duda escribanme a mi PIN. Saludos.

  • my gf loves the look of this fone a lot, but she's a bit dissapointed that this fone has no 3g network. I really hope BB will make a 3g version of this fone.

  • Blackberry pearl is been giving me problems its the third time I swap the phone I think its crap they send me defective ones its my opinion so now I'm going for the curve

  • I was thinking about buying this phone off ebay until I realised it hadn`t got a radio. I mean an expensive phone like this without a radio!!? I won`t be changing my Nokia 7390 for it.

  • ammm i dont know if it has a memory card but if it does then just plug the phone into the pc (if your phone has a lock on it it may ask you to give the password on the computer or on the phone) The phone's memory chip should then apear on your computer from their just drag the songs you want from your computer to the phone

  • Amazing people out there, I hope you all are doing well. I am a big Nokia Fan, but now was considering this phone as a secondary phone. How is the performance of ths particular model. Do convey your opinions out here as it would be highly appreciated. Have a nice weekend ahead. Chhers!!

  • Just wondering, alot of my friends have music and playlists on their phones. I don't have much experience with smartphones but I have this one and was wondering how I would get my music from my computer onto this phone?

  • should i trade a sidekick slide for this?

  • I can sell you mine call me @ 6175296432

  • hi, i need to buy this 8220,can some one help me out with this. my budget is $150

  • i agree with your observation the battery power seem not to be up to standard

  • I bought one and I'm not satisfy with the weak battery power. For frequent usage, you have to charge it everyday - sort of trouble.

  • This is my second cell phone (moving on from a Samsung A436) and I must say, it's perfect for those of us who are not necessarily super smartphone literate. The Blackberry Pearl Flip does only what you want it to (except for my tendency to accidentally hit the voice command button when I'm texting), making it very simple for people who aren't used to phones that are capable of doing more than texting and voice. RIM has given the Smartphone revolution a friendly face with the 8220, and I think this phone is definetely great for the younger generation and the female consumer population. Very stylish, and although it was my second choice to the Curve, I definetely do not regret buying it. Suretype keyboard was definetely a down side but they don't call it a smartphone for no reason, this thing gets to know your vocabulary within a couple of days, making the Suretype tolerable (although I still sort of wish it was full QWERTY).

  • Pretty good phone, no wonder people call them Crackberries, this thing is freaking addictive. It's my second cell phone (after a Samsung A436) and I would definetely say this is one Smartphone that isn't intimidating at all. RIM did a good job with the Blackberries, they definetely give the Smartphone invasion a friendly face.

  • nice phone but what i hate about it is it lacks a front 3g camera and look at the 3.5 mm jack input its on the side of the phone just imagine when u plug in a 3.5 mm headset jack in to it and when u put the phone to ur pocket it will be annoying , specially when u put it to ur top pocket of ur shirt .

  • In settings open options and go to MEMORY, click on memory, click on the menu key and scroll to format, it will give a prompt that tells you all media files will be lost, chose yes and follow the steps from there. I had the same problem and it worked for me hope that helps.

  • the blackberry pearl is amazing and debatebly the best black berry. the trackballl is amazing and the features that the screen on the flip can do is amazing and the phone is user friendly, yes it might be a bit difficult for first time blackberry owners but you'll catch on quickly, if u want the phone buy it, you'll have no regrets.

  • Lol more like a blackberry version of the N93

  • can you set up your e-mail to only except e-mail from certain e-mail addresses and block all other addresses?

  • If you are on about your memory card, then you may need to format it first before use. Though, this would mean that all data currently on the card will be lost.

  • I believe you know to have the phone to take photos as when shut it disables most of the functions.

  • my memory chip is not showing in phone what to do

  • does the camera work even when phone is shut? as in can take self-shots from the front without flipping open the phone?

  • I just got this fone 2 days ago in Red and its so beautiful!!! I LOVE everything about it.. Its my first blackberry, and at first it seemed a bit complicated from my nokia and samsung, but a day into it and everything is easy to use!! the trackball, the design and features are the best!! I am MORE than satisfied with this fone!

  • I LOVE this phone. It's my first Blackberry and I love the flip design. That's why I bought it. It works great. I wish the screen was bigger but I'll sacrifice this for the design. No problems with it after over 3 months of use. Not all software is compatible but lots is. Great for my needs. It's a keeper.

  • Every BlackBerry (phone OS) has a Presets equalizer. Like "pop" "jazz", "bass boost" etc... Also, don't fret if some phones don't have GPS. An alternative that some of you would like to try is Google Maps. If there's no GPS, this software uses cellular tower pin-pointing. Not as accurate as GPS, but hey, it still works though :)

  • Got this phone 2 weeks ago... Nice design, love the front panel. Pretty slow compare to BOLD, because of the small built-in memory. Crashes a few times, experiences some errors that sometimes requires restart to the operating system. Freezes a few times, especially when you got a call, short message, and instant message at the same time. I still love the phone.

  • bb sends out updates from time to time have u downloaded any of them? my STORM doesnt freeze, really my only complaint is the occasional sluggishness. other than that im addicted to it. the best phone on the market imo.

  • Hi, is it true there's a new Pearl Flip already, model 8330? This model seems to be cheaper. I heard something about that on Tv. can anyone plz confirm that?

  • I have my blackberry flip for about 2 wks and it's just the best phone ever! I love it! It's light, not bulky at all! The service is good especially the blackberry to blackberry service it' good! Im very pleased!

  • I have my blackberry flip for about 2 wks and it's just the best phone ever! I love it! It's light, not bulky at all! The service is good especially the blackberry to blackberry service it' good! Im very pleased!

  • HI,i own this phone about a month, hangs and freezes alot !! so i have to take out tha battery everytime ! with my old curve 8320 it does the same, anyone no why??

  • Hi I have owned the Blackberry Pearl Flip for 3 weeks....4 times in those 3 weeks it has crashed when I play Word Mole, I have to take the battery out and it then takes ages to come back on. Anyone else have this problem? Other than that, I love it, but I echo the FM radio sentiment a few posts down - if this phone had a radio it would be complete!

  • How do I retrive my text messages, just brought the phoe Thursday and I love IT.

  • only english!

  • very anxious to use this phone, but unfortunately i'm not affortable to buy this phone soon i will buy one.

  • this Bb seems really great ...i hope i will have one ...

  • i got this phone, after giving the iphone up for poor battery life! i love this device, ive downloaded a app which allows me to sync i tunes on it! emails and facebook! and the battery life is ace! i love this phone so much,,, i would defo recommend!

  • JbberJabber Thank you for your comments - I went ahead and ordered the phone and it's actually coming today so I hope I can get used to it! I will let you know how I get on.

  • I ve been using this phone for 2 weeks now.so far there is almost no problem n lovin the phone more and more! the only glitch is when i close the flip, the fone turned off.but it only happen once.Other than that, everything works perfectly fine! totally recommending this phone

  • Sally, the Blackberry phones are unique and can be difficult to get used to. Samsung and Nokia phones are easy to text with but the Blackberry is just different. I tried to change from Sony Ericsson to Blackberry last year then gave up after a few weeks. I couldn't see the point in having to learn a new way of texting. My friends say its worth it in the end and are really happy with the change. Its up to you really.

  • Will this 'phone work in Japan or Korea?

  • I am thinking of upgrading to this phone but haven't had a Blackberry before (always used Samsungs). Is it difficult to adjust to texting with the qwerty keyboard? That's the main reason I haven't swapped to a Blackberry in the past. The reviews and comments about the phone look very promising. Has anyone changed from Samsung to Blackberry recently?

  • i was going to get this phone just because it looks good. i was going to use it for music and fm radio, but it doesnt have fm radio it totally changed my mind. i reeally like this phone. blackberry phones should have FM RADIO!!

  • You people need to stop hating on the BlackBerry Pearl 8220. This in my opinion is the best BlackBerry out (next to the Pearl). I'm a 13 year old girl and this phone is great. I love the main menu and that they now have a separate folder for the SMS/MMS messages. If you don't have the phone you do not need to be hating on it because you don't know the features, no matter how many reviews you've read. I love the Pearl-type keyboard...I think that the multi-tap is easier than the full QWERTY keyboard. FYI you can use both hands to type on this phone. I am completely in love with it. I love the way the multimedia looks now. I love that when the phone is closed, you can view your SMS and e-mails without having to open the phone. When you open the phone it goes to the message. So don't hate on the phone if you don't have the phone. Thank you

  • i cant wait to get this phone is shipping and is expected to be here by fri and all these specs and reviews are crazy and make me want it more

  • Ok, apparently I can't use HTML in the post. You can check out the video at

  • While the 8220 isn't a huge upgrade from the Pearl 8120, it is a great phone! Check out my YouTube video comparing the two by clicking here.

  • buen telefono, a otro nivel....me encanta

  • Great phone!! I got it 3 weeks ago, ive had no problems with it, the software is similar to the BB Bold. Is fast, volume is really good, and the phone itself has style its really nice, love all the applications, GPS MSn Messenger... Overall I love it!!

  • What I like bout this phone is that it's classice style. It sets apart from other model of Blackberry also. I look at the specs it's not bad.

  • i think this phone is the best, good camera quality, you can even check your emails at an important meeting. i think it awsome.

  • excellent phone no issues from the day i got it...

  • when closed, if you receive a text or email, does it appear on the front screen, or do you have to actually open the phone. Need an answer by 5pm today...help

  • is there any internal memory of this gadget? how many MB/GB

  • Hey, Just got this phone less than 2 months and when shutting flip yea, the phone goes off by itself and then will turn back on. Sometimes does not come on at all. Not real happy. I think there is some kind of malfunction with this phone and it costs way too much to have any troubles.

  • Has anybody had problems with the phone turning itself off? I am on my 2nd handset in 3 weeks and now this one has done it.

  • Great phone, yes has skype aka iskoot, and when it shuts it show the clock and date for however long you chose then it fades out and goes black,

  • Does the front screen go black when in standby or does it show time, date etc?

  • i love this mobile phone .

  • Wondering about getting one of these but can any one tell me if the vibrate works at the same time as the ring tone, as a Nokia or Sony Ericsson, or separately as a Motorola or Samsung? Thanks

  • Is this phone allow to use skype mobile?? anyone have any idea..???

  • find the menu button, which is the left with the blackberry icon to the left of the trackball under the green send button. select settings, which is the icon with the green wheel with spokes enclosed in a file folder. set up wifi should be one of the options.

  • i wld love to get one of these

  • You made sure to hit profiles right? select customize profile... go to phone ringer... select high for the tone volume! Mine is set to High and I hear it from other room!

  • great phone only for bb user unless you never use bb pls learn.. it takes time but worth it

  • I have the exact same phone and i miss all my calls the ringer is way to low cant hear it no matter what settings I try. I have maxed out my settings and still nothing.

  • I got my new BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 at Christmas . I love the phone and all it's features however I miss all my calls as the ringer is way to low. I have all the correct settings on it set to loud but alas no solution to be found . So on average the phone is great for it's styling , features etc. But Unfortunately you will never hear it ring regardless. All calls will be missed.

  • Hey, looks like you can use it as a voice recorder and it records up to the memory limit

  • I think this phone is very very good, the email is great, the instant messaging and the internet is good also!! Lovely phone

  • sounds like a headache, really want this phone too

  • I got this phone at Best Buy free with an individual minute plan and not a data plan. And can't use the Instant Messaging and Email with the Wi-Fi all set up and running. This is a big disappointment on this BlackBerry. The browser it's slow only useful to watch Youtube videos, that you can't with Opera Mini.

  • I believe this is a Canadian company, so there should be no problem.

  • will i be able to use it in canada pls reply soon

  • Has anyone used the voice recorder to record lectures? Will it use space available on the memory card?

  • blackberry website has a user manual easy to understand

  • I have no clue how to use the Wifi

  • go to tmobile.com/bbupgrade and select your model.

  • class handset. stylish and full of fun. this handset is a must have! Ive had mine for just under a month and still cant put it down.

  • where can i download full manual for this phone

  • where can i upgrade the blackberry os? nokia had an automatic upgrade,is BB the same? or do i have to search it in the internet?

  • how do u get the OS download so that the battery isnt negatively affected and for optimum browser experience ??????????????

  • no i have it youtube is pretty quick

  • Just picked this up at costco for 29.99 with special member discount. I must say this is an awesome rock solid phone. Big upgrade from my last. Wifi on this is amazing for web surfing and instant messaging. My only complaint is the t-mobile browser is rubbish. Lot's of lag when you try to do anything, Opera mini is a great app to install when you get the phone. Also the speaker for the phone is ridiculously loud. As well as the ring tone, I can hear it over the air compressor at my work. Pick it up, if you have the chance its a rock solid phone.

  • I've had this phone since 19 November, and have used Blackberrys for a while. My conclusion is it's a really nice phone, a solid Blackberry, but it needs a software update to address the slow BB browser. It's odd because surfing on Opera Mini on this phone is good, and only the built-in browser seems affected. It is small enough (when closed) and light enough that you won't even feel it when it's in your pocket. The keyboard is bigger than the ones on the other Pearls, which is a personal preference. As for me, I like it because it's easier to type. The screen is excellent and very bright even under direct sunlight, not something you can say for all phones. The sound is loud and clear, for phone use as well as speakerphone use. You can watch videos full screen on this, but you have to transfer the file across using the Media Manager on Blackberry Desktop Manager. It rotates your converted file properly for full screen 240X320 viewing. If this is your first Blackberry, then everything about it will be awkward. I wouldn't recommend it as your first Blackberry, you should maybe start out with one of the Curves which has been around long enough for it to be very stable, hardware and firmware wise. Also, as with all the newer Blackberrys, the first thing you should do is upgrade the OS. The one that ship with the phone is known to be slow and may even contribute to problems such as overheating battery as mentioned in one of the reviews below. It is similar with the Storm, which is another Blackberry first-timers have been having problems with, where the problems are resolved after the firmware update. Even the Bold was widely slated when it first came out, but after OS 190, you hear less and less complaints. As for me, I find the Flip 8220 excellent in all respects, bar the built-in browser which I feel can be corrected via an OS upgrade.

  • this phone has no 3g capability, youtube will take forever to load

  • I am willing to buy BB 8220,does it recall the contacts for 30 days as in Nokia? pls repls asap

  • This is my first blackberry. I ordered this phone because I liked the fact that it was small and had a good design. I was also swayed by comments I had heard about how good Blackberries were. When I first got this phone out of the box however, I was disapointed by the overall feel of the unit. The upper screen section is well built & feels heavy whereas the lower section is much lighter & feels cheap and nasty. This gives the phone an imbalanced feel in your hand even with the battery installed. The features generally are well laid out & connecting the phone to my e-mail accounts was very easy. The truetype keyboard is also very easy & quick to get the hang of. This phone is not all good however! After about 2 days of use & after being left on standby overnight I went to pick up the phone only to find that it was RED HOT!. Since then the problem has not reoccured but the battery life has been seriously impaired (lasting less than 48hours on standby). There are also some other reliability issues like having to hard reset the phone(by removing the battery) at regular intervals due to the software locking up. I am aware that this may just be a fault with this particular phone but my confidence in it has taken a major hit (I need reliability over any other feature). I will be returning this one to my service provider and moving back to the always reliable motorola!.

  • Yes it is a world phone and will work in India. Go to www.rogers.com/roaming for the roaming charges of using your phone in India unless you get it unlocked and use a SIM card from there but your number will not be the same that way.

  • does it recognize office documents??

  • stylish and goodlooking. exactly what I look for in a man. great communications device and the camera is wicked.

  • haha stupidest isn't even a word what does that make u?

  • the phone is all around a good idea however the material used to construct the main body looks and feels cheap.

  • I am a blackberry user and i work for a business telecommunications company. I have held one of these phones and they have to be the most akward blackberrys available if your used to the old type youll find the keys to just be far to big to the point it feals like your useing your childs toy phone also the classic roller ball is tucked into the handset making it a pain in the *** to use! And if its the case you juat want small blackberry this phone is just ever so slightly smaller and to be honest thicker than the pearl! If you want one by all means get one but i'll be sticking with my pearl cant beat them!

  • this does not look as stylish as the rest of the blaxkberry models. This lokks like a toy.

  • this does look as classy as the rest of the blackberries.

  • awesome

  • too bad it doesn't have GPS, or i wouldn't loved this phone, cus it looks and sounds cool and i love how its unique by being a flip- smart cus im tired of the whole "Hey look, im carrying my laptop in my pocket" era.

  • will this phone work in india

  • i going for this phone i like it

  • This flip is very stylish, I hope that its also steady at the joint.

  • i'm sorry but you must be one of the stupidest person ever! now sit in a corner and reflect!

  • do b/b have graphic equaliser in them for mp3,,can video be viewed in landscape

  • can this fone use flash as torch,,can it record fluent video and in what format and resolutio and fps,,can i use yahoo go 3(beta)..their is not much help yet,,in fact any help would do,,thanx

  • we are t-mobile dealer, and we can do it for free with data plan and 2 yrs, walmart cannot bit us!!!

  • Walmart in USA has the best price!! $48 with 2 years contract ann the blackberry data plan... the problem is the employees they dont know NOTHING about cellphones.

  • To O2dude: any word on the release date and price range? thanks

  • ?Most of you that leave bad comments never owned a blackberry in your life! i own a 8320 and a 8120 they are perfect but which phone is? sometimes yall just talk too much about features and crap that you'll never really use more than once.

  • Can you install a dictionary on this phone ?

  • I bought this phone for my husband. Persoanlly I have the Blackberry Curve. LOVVVVVEEE Blackberry, so how can you go wrong on a Blackberry flip phone? It's got everything one could possibly need and then some. It's sleek and light. The cost? $149.

  • Nice n Cute...upper flip top portions looks similar to Moto V3 Good for folks looking for sleek version of BB series.

  • cuz not everywhere has wifi

  • I dont know why people leave bad comment even they have never used blackberry and they even dont know the purpose of blackberry, if you are email guy then nothing best than blackberry or you browse, can anyone tell what is the price of flip, flip phones are always very handy and blaclberry was lacking in flip, so now they arein. blackberry bold named because of its size, phone is sexy but its same like a huge sexy woman. you can keep for long ;)

  • Why would you need 3G when you already got Wi-FI? Guess what WIFI is for free.........

  • I'm amazed by all of the negative comments being posted on a phone most of us have never seen or touched. The comments seem to be very positive from all of the video reviews I've seen. There never has or will be a perfect cell phone to appease all of us geeks. Every unit I've seen or bought is missing at least 10 things that I want it to have. Besides, flip phone are sweeeeeet!

  • I was wondering if it was possible for Blackberries to get any bigger or chunkier! Then along came a flip!

  • yummy!!! i thinks its getting hot in here!! this phone is sexylicious i want i want!! but shame no 3g :-(

  • Hi Dude. Checking the specifications posted here (which might even be wrong), noone is talking about HSDPA in this device. Edge is marked only. Also, checking: it says: "The BlackBerry Pearl 8220 smartphone is designed to access 3GPP RTSP mobile streaming websites." So either the site specifications are wrong, or you may have accidentaly mis-typed something. Please review and suggest.

  • I think this will help blackberry become a dominat force in the Market there are ready doing it any way this type of phones shows they put smartphones in types of shapes to cater for everyones needs I think the phones is fantasic

  • this phone WILL be available on o2, just had a training session with blackberry, and this phone looks like it will appeal to everybody, all te features of a regular blackberry, plus a couple of extras added aswell now, e.g. hsdpa - can now stream video from sites such as youtube.

  • my best friend works for a mobile app company and hes been using a pre production version of the pearl flip for a few weeks now and he says its very good... i thought in the pics it would look very bland but in person it is quite nice... though it uses most of teh same software as the bold it doesnt have the same depth as the bold.. you might say a little dumbd down... but all in all its pretty good

  • Actually, I believe this is targeted for the teens market. There will be LOTS and LOTS of high school/college students business-man-looking-wannabe using this phone. For this will come with T-Mobile, I guess I'll get one for me too. :)

  • hey, guess what! This is the Bold's OS in a flip form. Only thing it lacks is the Bold's 3G, and if all the delays are any hint at all to you, you don't want a 3G blackberry. Every review I've read shows that this has the same screen resolution and quality, just smaller. So withhold judgment.

  • I work in the devices team for one of the major uk networks and i think this device will be really popular, especially with business users. I have one myself and i love it. its just like a regular blackberry pearl but a flip.....

  • I think this phone has appeal for women that want to have a status symbol of a "business" this is what RIM were going for, the female market, i think its a good move but most males wont appreciate it obviously. it should sell if RIM target their marketing to the female market. otherwise not too bad.

  • Epic fail in the design. They shouldn't do this again.

  • Vodaclone - Thanks. No experiance with RIM batteries so let see how it will turn out in real life. Blackberry - Ever downloaded e-mail attachments? On the move? Than you probably will know what 3G is for. Personally I have a 5 gigs data package in my monthly subscription. And as weather RIM needs to hide or not? I never used, and for a while I will not use one for more than a trial. Still, I know, that their share in the "high-end" or "professional user" section (specially in the US) is way higher than average. Think about it, before you say that the company doesn't worth much. Just a relatively fresh article:

  • RIM tried for a new device but nothing to Say untill Launch

  • RIM need to hide away, this phone is the worst phone ive ever seen, RIM sack your designers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why cant we have a BOLD version off the 8110,8120, is it so hard for you.

  • hai this s retaler my suggestion is that if there is 3g it is to be some what good feature

  • The phone looks nice and has a great design. It lacks the bells and whistles you would expect, this late in the phone game (Q4 2008). Please add 3G and a FM radio. That will take the phone to the next level.

  • v ger - - - - the blackberry batteries have always given as good if not better performance than Sony ericsson phones...they use less power because the operating system is less demanding... stand by time will be very good...i have no doubts

  • bad camera

  • why you need 3G on BlackBerry.?? people who using Blackberry the main purpose is use Blackberry connect for email. Also this is nice to try that blackberry made flip phone but its to thick.! i hope to see slide phone from BlackBerry as well..

  • I am a reteller and the phone is good for someone who has to have the flip but other wise its ugly and i really dont think it well sell good

  • Hm. I have serious doubts about 900 mA running for 2 weeks. In stand by mode maybe, but in normal usage. No way. The best battery I had so far was Ericsson (not SE) T68. 650 mA battery running for one full week with app 2,5 hours of call a day! I even dared going out for a 4 days trip without a charger. :-) And that had a much smaller display with much less colours. So should you turn the external screen off, and not take a single phone call, than maybe. Othervise it is just "marketing". I can see this unit as a basic office phone for someone, who does not travel at all (or someove, who wants to look important :-) ) Lack of 3G is definately a disadvantage if you are a heavy traveller. Also, on the Far East your are screwed with this one. Also, if you have high data traffic than 3G also comes handy. At least if you don't wish to spend 8 minutes on a simple e-mail download. The keyboard is of course better than "normal", but useless if you write most of your e-mails from your phone (like me), or browse the web from mobile and write comments on forums (like this one). You grow a beard while writing. No issues with the screen though. Tell me, what do you use the screen for? The pictures are small anyway, so you don't even notice. Play games? This is not designed for that anyway. Watch or edit documents? Perfectly enough. My office computer (which I rarely use) is also turned down on colours. However, on this screen you gonna only read documents, not edit them. But I have to admit, it does resembly SE Z series a lot. All in all. Probably a good entry business phone (or female phone - apologies from the feminists, but experiance talks) for the USA market, where RIM is strong anyway. As for Europe or for the Far-East, this is definately "weak".

  • no 3g or hspda! are rim crazy?

  • still 65k in this generation & so bad no 3G

  • for as far as I can see its 2 letters on 1 key. hats to bad. thats really anoying! And the specs, why no 3G? Thats the only thing I miss on this handset besides a better keyboard!

  • black berry back in action this one is gonna rock

  • great looking phone.. but com'on...no 3g! basic camera! no HSCSD! no gps!!! cheaper battery! wow great way to come out with a boom

  • I think keybord is too small. What about the price?

  • It's flippingly making my flippy head flip with its flippiness.

  • It has WIfi so no 3G is not a really big issue and how many of you are actually use GPS/video call?

  • Well.... girls, your prayer have been amswered... ;) Though, for me, the features are too plain.

  • dont like it, pearls should have been deaded.....

  • What's up with RIM and 65k colours?? Come on!! At least 256k man! Anyway, the phone looks sweet but that design for a qwerty keyboard won't cut it... its too narrow... don't think I could use both thumbs. Yeah its 2008 RIM... 3G / video calls support? Why not!

  • No GPS, no 3G? No thank you. Still gets the BlackBerry job done though. Plus it's a nice design surprise as I thought they would have done a slimmer candybar style first like the Pearl.

  • this phone looks sweet. is it only going to be T-Mobile (US) ?

  • Will this be the first PDA flip phone?

  • No 3g on this phone... only EDGE... no thanks... it's 2008 RIM...

  • looking cool superb fone great style...........................!

  • nice fone, something different for blackberry.i hope blackberry thunder 9500 would release as well :o)

  • wow!!!!!!! gr8 phone. i liek it. i love it

  • i cannot see clearly so i have to ask. does this keyboard is similar to keyboard of SE P1? one key with two letters?

  • I'm the fourth!! haha! anyway, it looked a lot like SE Z800 last time... nothing new...

  • i realy like this phone but BOLD is the way to go

  • very nice, i like
