  • I bought this tablet approximately 2013. I have had several problems with it. While under warranty the plug for the charging port became loose. They changed the board. The camera wouldn't work a while later. They changed the camera. Once out of warranty the battery would not charge anymore so they replaced it. I had to pay a lot to get it fixed. Not one year later the battery will not hold a charge at all. Total piece of crap if you ask me. I paid $220.00 and almost paid another 200 because I thought it would last a few years. Didn't even last another year. Time to throw it away.

  • i got this tablet on december 15 2013 it's very good to read on e books and also on wifi i have no any trouble for this tablet and make sure do not turn to memory full so that will remain good system, when you charge this tablet always turn off until fully charged because if you take charge while on its very slow to fully charged

  • I think this is a great tablet. I got it on sale at the future shop for like $220. I got this tablet in August 2013 so I have had it for 3 years. The only cons is the camera but it's acceptable. The WiFi isn't really working like it turns on for 5 seconds but then doesnt work anymore but that's normal since its old. I will miss this tablet! But for Christmas I might be getting a new tablet and I might go for a Samsung:)

  • Removing a swipe, password or a PIN lock from your tablet/mobile is very easy. You just need to follow following steps: Firstly, click the Menu icon present on the home screen of the tablet. Now tap the Settings option from there. From the Settings window, tap the Lock Screen. If your tablet is locked by password, enter the password which is presently set to unlock the tablet. If it is locked by pattern, enter the present unlocking pattern or the PIN for unlocking the device. After providing the specified unlocking information, back on the previous screen, tap the None option to remove the unlocking method. Your screen lock should now be disabled. If you forgot the password you have the option to reset your tablet to factory settings. The following steps will erase all of your personal information, all stored contacts, and any programs you have installed on your tablet. Power off the tablet. Press and hold Volume Up and the Power Button together. Release the Power Button after three second and continue holding Volume Up until you see the boot screen. Select Recovery. Use Volume Down to highlight Wipe data/factory reset. Press the Power Button to select it. Select Yes -- delete all user data. Select reboot system now after the reset is complete.

  • with update camera stop working ,but do not worry in all applications, there should have a new icon for the camera, and delete the old one. in case you do not have a new icon, you can always install the new one from play store where you have a large selection of camera apps, so my proposal is '' Cameringo '' because is the best one camera app with professional tools and is free of charge. in order to work better your tablet to avoid freezes and slowdown need to delete apps that are a nightmare for every android device, these are - '' snapchat '' instagram '' - '' facebook '' - '' messenger '' ''Spotify'' so delete them and use them via browser, and your tablet will work smooth but also If you don’t use an app that’s running in the background, uninstall it. If you can’t uninstall it because it came with your device, disable it. Clear the cache data and Clean your device storage

  • it comes from an application that you have install and which is perhaps in cooperation with sound, or keyboard or some modification, need to find out , butt if you can not, then do factory data reset and the problem will go away, but do not forget, first to save your all your data on the sd card and remove from the tablet to reset

  • you could try to solve with factory reset; hold down the volume up key and press power key at same time until the screen lights up to boot the device with recovery mode , and then press volume up\down to select the wipe data factory reset. this will erase all personal data from internal storage.

  • I got this tablet for Christmas 2013 and I've had it ever since. It's a good tablet and I've never had any major issues with it. I mainly use it for reading ebooks and it's great for those. The screen is nice and bright and I can adjust the brightness to my liking. Over all, this tablet is great and I don't plan on replacing it until need be.

  • tablets should not be thrown in the trash for the operating system , simply go to the service , if it is under warranty then install the new software for the first time is free, and if you do not have a guarantee then you charge for the service , in my MKD cost 5eur .

I went to turn on and nothing but Acer logo, after many attempts, I tried a factory reset using power button and volume up, went through the steps and tablet started erasing, it is now hung up on erasing mode, turns on and off alright just when on it is in erasing mode, has anyone else had this problem. I like the tablet and do not really want to trash it.

  • I upgraded my Android to Kit Kat and now it works much better. It's faster and it doesn't stop.

  • upgrading the software on your own , which is not firmware version , it is a mistake in the program and then complain , it's because the update is not synchronized. therefore always update the software with the original firmware version . that's why my acer a1-810 with 4.4.2 kit -kat update firmware , works much better .

  • If I understand you correctly you want to use Skype on acer tablet in migration ..in another country. As far as I know, if you've already opened an account on your tablet, then you can make use of it in any country, even in any other product. you need a internet connection, and any tablet . Start Skype and logon. I hope I helped

  • I got Acer A1. HP Slate7. Galaxy Tab2. All this are ok. All this are budget Tab. Finally I got Lenovo A3000. This is a great budget tab. If u wish any better than go for Galaxy Tab S. But it will cost u more $$$.

It may be the consequence if you do unauthorized change of operating system , flashing or root . these operations are at your risk and could damage os . If so then it is best to go to an authorized service and to install a new android os . if not then can try to charge battery for at least 4 hours , and check whether the charger is faulty by what he warms up and it's a sign that works . or you can try this ; push the power button and volume up button at sime time to boot device... to factory reset. also has a small hole interaction between ;microphone hole , and mini HDMI port , and I think it is for reset tablets.

  • to Grampa ; think this could help you; first thurn on bluetooth , then press for paired devices( it's limit time to 5 min, after 5min it close ). touch to visible to all bluetooth devices. then send file from the other device, you see bluetooth share incoming file, and press to acept, ..it's downloading...after . bluetooth share recived files and touch to open and see files are downloaded.

  • Great tablet except when it comes to downloading pictures. It is a new model which was received as a Christmas gift, and it has the latest KitKat Android system. It turns off Blue Tooth downloads with an inane ? do you want to accept the down load. There is no way or icon to answer that question. In a few seconds that screen goes away and you are notified that your BT download didn't work. When you to to the tablet's blue tooth screen, there is a long list of downloads that you/I supposedly refused. Which I didn't. It also blocks or fails to down load or store an attached picture on messages or email. It only seems to work, sometimes when downloading photos to G+ which becomes a pia to use with the billions of Elvis fans and others spamming your G+ homepage.

  • I got a problem with this tab. Been using this for quite sometime now, but I can't really find away to fix my wall paper. Wall paper always zoomed in, it changes to that condition whenever I put the tab on landscape and it never comes back after that. And music art album also is zoom-in. I need some advise here, please. Thank you. The rest of specs are fine like the battery it doesn't drain easily. Camera is poor but I'm okay with it since I got it in cheap price. All in all tab is somehow perfect.

  • I've had this now for 15 months. I have had two problems with it that were fixed under warranty. The charging port and the camera. Both were resolved so I cannot complain about that. The battery could last a longer time. 6-8 hours is about maximum. Sometimes it will freeze in a game but that could be the APPs issue. Overall I like the tablet. The speaker could also be better. The camera works well. The one I have was updated. Mine now has a zoom and a timer. Great option. I would not hesitate to purchase another Acer product.

  • for Acer Iconia a1 810 is a free update to 4.4.2 kit kat .I have it in March of this year , and somewhere , in June I received 1 update before, kit kat ( which was important to update to kit kat version ) and in July was update to 4.4.2 kit kat , and it's free. Try this go to settings , aqbout tablet , system updates , check now .or if you can not do that, then go to the authorized service center and ask for help. It is certainly free.

  • Perhaps it is best to go to the official service in your country and that you re-install the new Android 4.2.2 or 4.4.2 , and it should not cost more than 5-8 euros . in my country this cost 4 euros . This is just a suggestion , ask and you will learn what to do , maybe this is the best solution .

  • Thanks for your advise. Unfortunately I installed the update to prepare the tablet before doing the KitKat upgrade. I have cleared the cache since and as warned before doing the KitKat upgrade, found it is not possible to go back to 4.2.2. Thanks anyway.

  • KitKat update is a must for Acer A1-810 ! Only with that you can switch on to ART runtime which runs the tablet really fluid and smoothly.

  • check (system settings/app/All) on the applications list, you will find "Acer live updater" and "system updater". those 2 applications check the OS updates . if does not work then only left to wait for update. I 'll try to answer supervision but I think you missed the chance. and do not upgrade pirate is extremely dangerous , you better stay on the jelly bean , I personally do not see any significant difference with kitkat .

  • Your post is very frustrating but whether it is justified . means a1 810 with kitkat works perfectly . the question is whether you have installed the update before KitKat was the upgrade that is important to work on KitKat version. If you have not done the update you've probably why you have problems . So if you're satisfied with 4.2.2 then reset the tablet and go back to the jelly bean version.

  • Can anyone tell me where my GPS went when l updated my A1 810 to KitKat. I can't see any other comments about this problem. Maybe I'm the only one. The tablet that I had and was so impressed with running on 4.2.2 now is also slower, jerky and seems to run the battery down faster. I did manage to get youtube back after some trouble though. I can't imagine where the good comments come from about doing the kitkat upgrade. My advise is "if you haven't done it yet, and it ain't broke, don't fix it. I had to go and buy a secondhand one still running on 4.2.2.

  • I m a true Acer A1-810 user. First thing first, don't just believe in whatever comments posted here in this forum, including mine. Use some commonsense and you can distinguish who are not Acer A-810 users but posted rubbish because of some reasons. My Acer A1-810 was updated in mid July with Android 4.4.2 firmware and so far so good. You should experience the following at least, - software optimization really improved a lot. It operates smoothly and more fluid manner. - if the About Device shows you that it is 4.4.2 then it is updated, don't believe in those who tell you something else. - for me, both Antutu and Quadrant benchmarks improved after the update. Especially for Quadrant, it shows up to 60% improvement! - so long as you constantly use Clean Master or other apps that do the same job, to clear caches and free up RAM, then the system and Apps would run very nicely without problem. - camera software however improved slightly only as I noticed. - you still can't move apps data to the sdcard. - WiFi connection remain the same if not slightly improved. That's also depends on your WiFi provider's signal strength. Better still, if you were to download the following latest Android 5.0 Lollipop apps via APK install without root, you are likely to love your tablet more! - latest Google Now Launcher. (It is much better than the Acer stock launcher). - Lollipop Google Keyboard. - Lollipop Google Gmail. - Lollipop Google+ I play Temple Run2 and Racing 3 etc. without any problem. I will keep this tablet longer than I would have thought...

  • I received notification about the 4.4.2 update a few months ago. I updated my tablet and I checked the specs and it shows 4.4.2. So are you saying Acer hasn't really truly given an update? I did notice that I was connecting to sites faster, that they looked clearer; things like that. I'm just trying to understand your point of view. I'm also now experiencing some slowing of my connection so I really don't know how much of an improvement that really was.

  • First You need the last update before 4'4 kitkat and then you can upgrade to KitKat version,so if you miss that one you can not do that.

  • My SD card kept sticking out. You have to push it all the way in,flush with the tablet & you will hear a faint click.To do this use a paperclip or something similar. To get it out, do the same thing. Push on it & it will pop out. Hope this helps.

  • If you own this Acer A1~810 you are lucky guy. Just realized that other than Nexus devices, many other brands tablets cannot operate properly on Android Runtime mode (ART) on the Kitkat OS. Tested out the new Asus Memopad 8, yet this tablet can't even boot up after switching to the ART runtime setting. So, my Acer A1~810 has been functioning on the ART runtime mode over a month and it's perfectly swift and smooth.apps open up real fast as well as switching between UI. How Acer's engineers did such a good job on Acer A1~810 tablet i really dunno, but surely they have optimized this 2013 tablet so as to give it a new life and great performance. Or you can go search the web with sentences for example ART Runtime Mode on Acer A1~810... etc. Etc to find out more information on the subject. Keep your Acer A1~810.

  • The Acer A1~810 does not allow moving apps to the sdcard even updated to KITKAT. BUT after update the performance improved very significantly.

I always kept my apps on the card instead of the tablet due to space issues. Now, after I buy the tablet, I find out I cannot move apps to SD Card ...and this update limits this even more. I don't know whether the update is worth it or not if most apps won't work.

  • What type of email account is it? Gmail? Yahoo? Hotmail? Your ISP email account? It sounds as if you are using your own ISP email account and have 'ticked' the box that tells your account to 'leave mail on server'. You will need to provide additional information before anyone can instruct you to help. You may not need to delete the account, just change a setting. Have you contacted your ISP about this issue? They could probably walk you though fixing it.

  • I read about some bad comments about ACER A1~810 KITKAT update on this forum. So i just share my own encounters here. I received the first Pre~Kitkat firmware update from Acer in June. Thats to prepare the device for its actual update. Then on 17 July i finally got the notification i was waiting for ~ it's Kitkat 4.4.2 alright. The OTA update process took at least 15 mins to complete and installed. The file size is big, about 258MB. Take note after this update, the following: 1. Perform cache data clean up on your device (Setting > Storage) 2. Dont update your Google Map （set to non auto update） The updated map app wont work well with this firmware update. 3. Delete your stock Acer camera app （4.2.2） 4. Most importantly, SWITCH OVER TO Android Runtime （ART）, this mode apparently works perfectly with the Kitkat firmware update! （Via Developer Options） 5. Download latest Google Now Launcher （releashed on Aug 1）from Play Store 6. If encounter any apps forced close or lag, uninstall them and reinstall Let me tell you, after update to Kitkat 4.4.2 my Acer A1~810 really rocks, perform like a brand new high end tablet! Quadrant benchmark shows at least 80% improvement in software optimization!!! I kept trying and finally i have to believe that this Is REAL!   • I had gotten the tablet for Christmas, shortly after the top right corner got a crack. When I noticed it I thought crap, oh well its just a small one. Then when I went to use it, at least 3 inches of the screen did not work when I touched it, the display of everything was good. Since the screen completely rotated it was okay I guess. About 5 months after the screen cracked super easily, down the entire right side of the screen. Now the entire screen does not work. Now to get the screen replaced its going to cost at the very least $120.99, believe me I have looked into everything to find a cheaper deal. Even if you find a cheaper screen you still have to pay for someone to replace it. I think that a person is better off buying an I pad mini or something, they are cheaper to fix and the screen isn't as noticeable with pixels. Also it always gets updates and their better. If you do get the tablet download the ..... KK app and it will look almost the same as and I Pad but get an I pad.. haha My review is to warn people of the expenses of repairs for this thing. goodbye.

  • The costs and capabilities far outweigh any negatives. If you buy a bmw and then a new model comes out you've missed on the latest offerings. There's nothing wrong with Jellybean or anything earlier, they work fine. It's true that upgrades and environmentally more friendly but upgrades will keep coming out forever. Sometimes we just don't need the latest and greatest.

  • I recently posted this on Acer Forum Community of Users for the Iconica A1-810 from Acer... They totally erased parts of my message concerning the truth about the update on this unit please read it... «After Talking to Acer then Google Android's team...that shoot me right back at Acer...Saying it is to them to make all updates available ...for now they are locked by Acer team. Even thought they want you to believe that they have not finished testing KitKat with Iconia A1-810... They are lying...because...not only they are not doing any test...they just stopped supporting this device and locked it to Jelly Bean 4.2.2. They will not confirm you this over the phone or on Chat . But clearly Acer will not update this tablet like the advertisement said when we all purchased the unit. Nothing in the hardware would prevent the unit to get KitKat...and even the new L upcoming...(asides from certains feature that won't work because of it's hardware limitations) So...Acer is fooling us... + Be aware that the Heartbleed fault issue for security is not protected from when on Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Google advises all to update to the latest KitKat 4.4.3 to get protection from the Heartbleed. So I've decided enough is enough... I made this Facebook page to collect data info on the Iconia A1-810 users database. To inform them of this. And perhaps gather enought attention and fallowers to sign a petition against this practice by Acer Team. If I get enough of petitionners I'll will fileup a lawsuit against Acer with all your supported signatures.   • Yes, there is a buzz in the headphone jack. I have checked two so far and both have a background buzz in the headphone jack. Otherwise a neat tablet but very weak I think that Acer is unable to design or manufacture a tablet to provide a decent audio socket. But, since it can not be updated to KitKat (manufactorer offers no updates and - worse! - blocks any possibility of installing a custom ROM by locking the boot loader. I really hate to say it, but I cannot recommend this tablet and this manufacturer.

  • Had for 6 months. One for me and one for the kids. Been dropped, stepped on, and generally kicked round by the kids and I can say this tablet is EXCELLENT. Just be cautious letting them charge it as it has only one charge connector, and it is fragile. Only thing is you will NEED a screen protector. Not that this tab has a especially scratchable screen, but kids can always scratch anything :-)

Click on Internal and select Download(where your downloaded pics are). Press and hold the pic(s)/jpg until it is highlighted blue. Next backspace to the homepage of the app and click on SD Card category. It will open and should see DCIM or Images.   • I bought mine Sept 2013. I love it. The size is perfect. Runs smoothly. Takes pretty good pictures. Video chat programs work well with it. I've played a lot of games on it and it plays well. If I did have a problem I'd relate it to the App and not the tablet anyway. The speaker is weak. You can barely (I can't anyway) hear the sound unless your surroundings are church like. So you will definetly need earphones with mic. My other problem is. The charging port is inferier quality. After 5 1/2 months of use it became loose and was unable to charge unit. I took it in to Acer as it's under warranty. They told me it will take seven days to repair. What they are going to do is change the board. So basically I'll have a new tablet. But that means I'll lose everything on the tablet. Not a big deal as I had everything backed up. My only concern is the length of time for service. it tells me that either they are under staffed or that they have a lot of repairs. I'm guessing the latter. If they fix the charging port issue and speaker issue it will surpass any model out there.

  • Yes there is an 8GB version... I'm using one to reply!!! Got it at a "Black Friday" from Staples for US$99+tax. Had to get up before the sun to get that price but it was worth it. It is my first tablet and the Quad core was too good to pass up. Then I just had to fill the micro-SD slot. You will also want a mini-HDMI cable since it spits out both 720 and 1080 HD video. It can use Hipstreet's @pple Bluetooth keyboard (or I would NOT have typed all this on the screen)

  • I had my a1 iconia 3g since November 7 and its performance is amazing. My kid accidentally dropped into the floor but the tablet working fine, no damage nor deffect on it. I love this a1 iconia it's fast and very good multi tasking efforts, games messaging or even web browsing really good. Its battery work long the whole day of playing games.....   • Have had this tab for over a month now and happy as a clam with it. Use it mainly to read epaper, browse web, play games, watch streaming video through XBMC and multimedia from local storage. Battery life pretty good. Indeed 10 hours plus of video. Long standby time. Audio ok but not too loud. Screen good. Large viewing angle and good colours. Not very bright though so not very viewable in direct sun light if looking at dark images. Particularly happy with the form factor 8" 4:3 screen ratio is ideal and still very portable.

  • Greetings, I've recently purchased the A1 and have been using it for the past 2 weeks. In short: as long as you can look past the awful screen as it's actually light gray when the screen in turn off and thus, blacks looking light gray - this tablet is actually fun to use with it's 4:3 ratio - found it really good for reading on feedly. I'm using the S2 with an AMOLED where blacks are really black - kinda annoying when I saw the A1's light gray screen but took a while to ignore it. with that said, android apps for tablets is still lacking as compared to iOS. Battery life: use it frequently to check e-mails with push notifications, push notifications from facebook/instagram. Camera: meh....but good enough to take instagram shots Performance: seldom experience lag but at times especially when apps are being installed Touch screen sensitivity: a huge issue for me but after a while, you'll get used to it. What happens is when i use the sides of the pulp of finger, it somehow will zoom it or zoom out of what I'm reading and it does get annoying. Besides, typing on this thing has a learning curve, I basically sent typos on facebook messenger all the time. the screen sensitivity has been addressed by Acer via an OTA update but it is still not fully addressed. CONCLUSION: a great budget tablet (comparable to those China branded tablets but with proper warranty with +1 year warranty - depending on your reseller brings me peace of mind) but with minor flaws - touch screen issues & blacks being light gray.

  • I am about to buy this tablet later tonight (I'm here in Thailand btw) to replace my Nexus 7.I bought Nexus 7 and been using it for 8 months and it just died on me and never turned on. I brought it to the Service Center and took them 2 weeks to get it fixed. Nexus 7 has disappointed me BigTime. I have high hopes on Acer. They are cheap and reliable =)

  • Compare to Asus Nexus 7, Acer Iconia A1-810 has more compatibility for games (PowerVR GPU, 1024x768 resolution), this makes Acer Iconia A1-810 a excellent 7 inch device, but Acer's cheap TFT screen ruined this great device (yes! this one use TFT LCD instead IPS screen), even so, I choose Acer Iconia A1-810 not Asus Nexus 7, just because 4:3 1024x768 has more usability then Asus Nexus 7, and game compatibility.

  • acer iconia a1-810 can compete with ipad mini sold.in the market. the specs are really nice. the quality is good especially the 5mp camera. andd has responsive touch screen. it does not lag even if ypu open up to 10 applications. it can play hd games and hd videos. very nice. downsides are, acer are known to have a lower.sound quality on tablets, netbooks and laptops which is bad. buy if you will listen to music thru your headphones it is justifiable. front camera is just 0.3mp and is not good for skype video calls.

After I brought it back home I charged it full and realized that I used it for a couple of hours surfing the web but only noticed a drop of 5% batt but when I restarted it it said 15% remaining. On another occation I charged it for 3 hours but noticed it was only 50% full but after restarting its was 100%. I recently updated the software from software update. I'm wondering if the update is the cause of it and if I'm the only one having this prob?

  • does it have google play for apps download? .. for others, dnt ask for the sim slot. this is a wifi only tablet. same goes with ipad mini wifi, no sim slot either. stop asking for something more with its price. buy more expensive so you can get what u want.

  • Mine arrived with a speaker defect, so I send it to Acer service. Disadvantages -Responsiveness not as good as Ipad. -Preinstalled applications can not be unistalled. -Not compatible with major games and apps because of the chipset.

  • Had this tablet for a few days now. Battery life's is very good. Very user friendly. Few minor problem as the apps tend to be quite buggy. For example apps like AccuWeather cannot update itself sometimes. The apps cannot uninstalled but can only be disabled only. Facing difficulty of moving apps. Overall 7/10. Affordable with very good but not excellent qualities.

  • Are you serious? Nexus 7 was has much better display than ipad mini. This tablet's display is on par with that of ipad mini.

  • Honestly, this tablet is quite good.. Been using it for one weeks.. It's quite fast for very cheap tablet.. The material used on this tablet also feel quite sturdy and comfortable.. Compared to Nexus 7, this tablet got 5mp camera and card slot.. It's good to expand your storage.. The only downside on this tablet, is the screen is not good as ipad mini, but on par with Nexus 7.. Anyway, if you are on tight budget, this tablet is good choice for you..

  • I just bought this and it works great - but the autofocus either doesn't work or doesn't exist. This is critical if you want to use the tab for scanning QR/bar codes of any kind. Also, I found the wifi connectivity to be a little flaky from time to time but mostly good.

  • Hey guys, I saw it and was very dissapointed with the screen. Same specifications like iPad mini, but everything looked so dull on A1 (brigthness was at maximum). I actually thought that I was looking at the TFT display. There is no way that A1 has an IPS. I can not believe that.
