alcatel Pop Icon - User Reviews

  • This alcatel one touch pop icon lte 2 has a hearing problem when answering a call. Hearing your caller is very Low! youtube videos show how to get into engineering mode., to increase audio volume. Found fixed status audio mode, cannot adjust audio levels.Tried all different codes, to no avail. Either I bought a bad lemon or buyer beware

  • ,,2nd Alcatel one touch. First one literally burned up while charging. Got the Pop Icon model and an even bigger POS than the first. Volume is crap. Pictures are nice as long as you have the phone bolted down. Ring tones change Everytime it reboots. And the touch screen jumps around. Makes a good handwarmer. No wonder it a HOT phone. Don't waste time on this garbage. I will stay with Motorola.

  • If you are still interested.

  • I got this phone prepaid from Telus. At first it seemed to work well other than the obviously shit camera. I added 32gb of storage to the SD slot thinking apps would move over but they never fully do. This phone has a whopping 2 fcking gb of internal storage which by the time you all get updates on the BLOATWARE your 2gb will be completly full, good luck recieving texts. I have removed everything extra from internal storage with somewhere like 220mb left on internal storage for nothing. Processing speed is legit shit, cant play games. Internet browsing is laggy slow and unresponsive. Also when charging the touch screen becomes unresponsive probably because of static, and sometimes the screen will move by itself. If you live in canada the phone will also stop working or work VERY slow under 1 degree Celsius. Front facing camera is worse quality than a flip phone may as well not use it. Rear camera is very sensitive and over sharpened, is very sensitive to shaking, any at all. The battery has degraded over two years very quickly before it would last 1-3 days with moderate use. Now it will likely not last a day especially if i use it for browsing. Sometimes will not recieve text in a 4 bar zone. Positives are i like the panoramic background thing and the daydream screen saver thing thats pretty cool i guess. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

  • You usually store media, not apps on the card. It's possible to migrate apps to the card using special software for the purpose - I forget the name of it but it's out there on google play. They dont like to automatically do so because if you remove an SD card you break apps - the SD is optimized for media use.

  • at first, I loved this phone but after 2 years of using it the battery life hardly gets me through 1 day of use and I have had days where the phone said it was before bed but I wake up and its completely dead I also find myself deleting and installing apps all the time I put memory card in yet it only allows photos and videos to be stored on it. the biggest problem when I first got my phone was trying to find a good case I went to a phone booth in the mall and they actually had to cut the headphone jack and power buttons to be in the right spot as the holes were off by a cm after a while I gave up and went on without the case but now after dropping it on the ground multiple times the corners are all smashed up but the screen has yet to crack.

  • Actually, I download to my 32GB card all the time, but I did find it helpful to download ES File Explorer from the Google Play store to manage the files. But, you are right, I cannot move apps to the card -- but that is controlled by the Android system. That changes with Android 5.1

  • The phone has a slot for a Mini SD card for up to 32 GB. But you can't down load to it and you can't move existing apps to it. So what is the point?

  • The storage isn't much, but I get by with this phone. :)

  • Then why did you purchased an inexpensive phone if you want a beast phone?

  • I have this Dino only good is the 5inch screen. Hate that u can't see min etc on home sceen

  • I totally agree about the durability. I can't tell you how many times I dropped this phone, on every hard surface imaginable and it kept on ticking. Had good battery life and very user friendly. Hated the sound quality for calls but the speaker itself for playing videos, music, was crystal clear. Only reason I sold mine was because I wanted 4g lte. This was my first Alcatel but definitely won't be the last.

  • The phone has been very durable. I have been using it for one year now. I have dropped it many times and there has been no damage. Everything still operates great on it.

  • I paid $29.99 for my Alcatel Pop ICON. Brand New at dollar general

  • I bought this phone from Telus as prepaid phone. I have been using this for almost a month now and it is working fine so far. It is not as powerful and durable compared to other high end phones but the basic functions you need on smartphone are all in this phone. PROS: size and design are great, fast processor with good wifi reception, sound is great when using earphones, latest Android os, good battery life with normal use, thin and light, good screen resolution and colors. CONS: Very bad 4G signal sometimes even 3G data signal is terrible, screen is so flimsy and could easily broken, bad camera lens, and lastly, internal memory is useless and you need external SD card to survive with it.

  • I have the same issue with my 7040T Pop Icon - the phone volume is too low! Anyone have a fix?

  • Just bought the Telus Canada variant and it seems to have a quad core Snapdragon processor with two of the processors turned off. If I rooted the phone, would I be able to turn the extra processors on?? Anybody out there successfully root one of these things, or even get it into developer mode?? I see some options out there, but they seem questionable and I don't want to try to decode error messages in Chinese! Thanks

  • In your dreams

  • any android is better than an iphone

  • London drugs was selling this before for $80

  • Crap...give me my iPhone back...lousy battery life...screen changes for no reason while just sitting...can't do basic e-mail functions...volume levels suck...not intuitive at all...cheap though...

  • Where in Canada is it sold for $80? Cheapest I found was $130 for new, $110 for used.

  • What a 5" phone! Can't believe this sells for around $120. You can unlock it on Ebay for a few extra bucks. The screen is just great for this price tag, pleasant and easy to watch. The camera colors are amazing and takes photos instantly with no lag at all. The videos also look great in colors. It has a powerful flash and the pictures with flash are well exposed. No lag at all, very smooth screen. A little on the heavy side and slippery in hand, however the weight is well balanced n hand and with a silicone case it will stay great in hand and will be shock proof! The glass on this phone breaks easily if dropped, make sure to get a silicone/plastic case. It doesn't feel that big or thick in hand, the size is just right. The three main buttons at the bottom are nicely illuminated and are separate buttons (not on the screen). They are easy to reach and the vibration is smooth and very pleasant. It doesn't feel like a high end phone, but I don't see much difference compared with a Galaxy S4 for example. Ok, the gamers will say it's not the same specs, but the average consumer won't see a difference (besides the screen quality, of course). Internet browsing is a breeze, very good page rendering and instant download. The battery doesn't seem to be that powerful.

  • how do you make the call volume louder on this phone? when placing a call you can barely hear it ringing and as well its hard to hear the person on the other end once the call connects. Anyone else have this problem or is my phone defective possibly?

  • i have 32gb micro sd but the cpu work full 100% and when i take off the memory drop to around 15-30% please if someone can help me about that thanks

  • My phone is not reading the only 2G network . It is Alcatel One Touch Icon Pop 7040T

  • Great feel and outstanding WiFi...perfect size display BUTTTTT......Flimsy touchscreen cracked after minor drop from 3 feet (in a case to boot)....Wher is Gorilla Glass when you need it. Even with the cracks, I would purchase again...Lotza BANG for the buck!

  • Will this phone work overseas. Want to send this as a gift.

  • I have the one touch pop icon A564C and I loved it for the first 2 months, then the battery quit and I can not find a new battery for it any where. should never have quit after 2 months, anyone know where I can find one, been all over the internet!!

  • just bought this phone is amazing i have had the s3 and note and let me say other then the camera this phone makes other phones cower in fear definite buy

  • Great Phone. Best bang for the bucks.

  • it does indeed have hotspot... if you go to settings, you'll get - wifi, bluetooth, call settiotngs, data usage, more...- click more and you will find hotspot options.. i love this phone.

  • Does this phone have Voice command or memo options?

  • Shouldn't the model number (7040t) be mentioned in the fact sheet? Models from Samsung are searchable via model number, e.g. T989D.

  • In the specs above it shows this phone having HOTSPOT. I bought one of these the other day and it DOES NOT have HOTSPOT. What's up?

  • i am getting this for x-mas. very helpful thanks :)

  • Are you one of those dummies that think a phone needs to be a flagship spec device to be worth buying or using. It sells for 80 dollars here in Canada where a Nexus 5 still sells for 400 dollars. For the package you get at that 80 dollar price point, I would give it at least 9/10 and maybe even 10/10.

  • Great phone. It runs on Verizon towers. Battery life is good. It runs kit kat and is very quick

  • Why you are given 10 out of 10.i think the specifications are normal.
