Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017) - User Reviews

  • This is a good tablet for what you pay

  • Although not mentioned in the info here this does have usb otg. It can access a mouse, keyboard or usb sticks. If powered however, it can access a 2 tb hard drive. I tried it with both a seagate expansion and a backup plus slim and it works fine. Other than that great tablet.

  • deviously

  • cHEAPER THAN MOST. sTUCK WITH AMAZON APPS that cant be removed. ( I shuffe=led them intov a folder called ****). you CAN get the google play store app on it by several ( Highly dubious) methods. (my grandkids did mine, Mi'lud, not guilty). Battery life is v. good, I get 6 to 8 hrs video, 3-4 days on standby. Size is best compromise between 7 inch and 10 in tabs. Stick 64-128gb sd card in it (takes up to 256), and load it up, either from pc, or via pc to add./remove. Oh yes, finally, get a decent file manager on it, easy to become lost ....cheers frm the UK

  • I have had this tablet since November 2016. It was a great tablet for the price. It is still a good tablet for music and video streaming and ocasional web browsing. I wouldn't suggest anything else on it, if you want to have a leasant experience. Even though my kindle is not rooted, I sideloaded the Google Play store and several other android apps.

  • I want to buy Amazon Fire HD 8 (2017). If any body faced any Problem on this tablet. please suggestion me.

  • Does usb work on it? i know it works on the 7 inch?

  • Screen flickering problem...update pls.

  • Have any protection in the display?

  • Dam! Got it to shop quicker than the 7" in started with. I dunno if I justify the Prime membership.....BUT...I get excellent prices in a sort of "shopping desert" in a 100K pop. US Midwest town. I could play 2 viddies off the sd card back to back....g00d battery....pic fine on a plane seat tray or in a waiting room etc.

  • This is an ultracheap tablet, I wouldn't call it nice, but it's fine for watching Netflix in 720p.

  • That should read 'not as good as BoomSound speakers'. I don't see how to edit.

  • This is not that bad for the price. The size and weight are just right. The screen is fine, a one megapixel display is adequate for an 8 inch tablet. The processor is underpowered but with more RAM it wouldn't lag so much. It is easy to install the Google Play store and services that makes this a decent ultracheap tablet for reading eBooks and watching videos. The speakers are alright, as good as BoomSound speakers.

  • guys i need a nice tablet for watching netflix what do u advise me

  • The screen on this scratches insanely easily. I have a keyboard/case for this and the keyboard is plastic. There is no way a plastic keyboard could scratch gorilla glass.

  • This tablet is quite laggy when play some 3D games. i want to remove bloatware apps but I can't because there is no way to root it. don't buy this tablet at this time.

  • It support android apps and playstore

  • go into the settings and enable unknown sources and then download it from the internet

  • How do you side load Google Play on to this tablet?

  • nope.. this is android 5 based os.. so ofc this doesn't support splitscreen and other android nougat & oreo features..

  • Does Amazon fire HD 8 2017 have latest android features such as split screen, expandable notifications, permission controls etc?. As per specs, their OS is based on Android 5.1.

  • Confirmed there is a light sensor (CPU Z)

  • Hi, I noticed that it has an option called Adaptive Brightness (which can be toggled manually). So conclusively it should have an ambient light sensor so you might need to add that to your spec (sensor ) section.

  • Just purchased the 32Gig one brilliant piece of kit for the money, yes it's no IPAD but I do love the SD Card option of 256 gig and I have side loaded Google Play, which is working brilliantly, battery life is amazing, great tablet for the price,

  • I upgraded from a 2015 Fire 7 to the 2017 fire 8, and although this is no iPad, I find it a pleasant, usable little inexpensive tablet. For web browsing and email, it's a great value. Much better screen than you typically get in sub $100 tablets, decent (not phenomenal) battery life. The 1.5GB ram vs. the previous version's 1GB makes a huge difference. For ~$50 it works good. Take it where you might not want to take your iPad or iPad Pro.

  • Compared to Nvidia Shield K1 (2015) which is still ahead of its time even today this tablet its a total waste of time and money. Come on its 2017 and they still put mediatek and Lolipop. For 1,5x price of this tablet (buying without ads) you can get a new Shield K1... Well at least this tablet is good if you don't have where to waste your time and you want challenges to install google services, google play or blocking ads by yourself and etc, this tablet would be perfect choice for you.

  • Huh that's expensive. Got it at Bestbuy 2 weeks ago for like $50.

  • My old old Tablet has almost better specs than this and I payed €90 for it.

  • A true peice of eWaste. Better get the Tab A 8.0 since it has way better specs (and will get Nougat anytime now). Android 5.1 is really outdated and lacks essential features like Doze and App permissions. And let's not talk about the MediaTek SoC. There are enough reasons not to take a MT CPU to fill 3 books, a movie and a TV show.

  • For a 110 its just a trunk in forest. For surfng on net should be good but thats all.

  • customized 5.1 lollipop= stuck on stone age!!!
